your point about team rwby being the maidens’ liberators made me think - do you think blake is going to have a special connection to the summer maiden? I noticed that she’s the only one who hasn’t been close to a maiden yet
i think gillian asturias is the summer maiden (and this post is hysterical in hindsight. at the time i wrote it, the full-length v9 epilogue hadn’t been released yet so we’d only seen qrow’s section and about half of winter’s – hence my pausing to lay out the argument for salem going to vale next and making a pretense of hedging my bets on the crown being narratively central in v10. lol)
now! with regard to blake and the summer maiden, the common thinking here seems to mostly run along the lines of “…and that’s why summer maiden ilia,” or the more general speculation that the summer maiden will be a faunus character.
to this i say:
it’s a fallacy to conflate “blake will probably have a strong narrative connection to the summer maiden” with “the summer maiden necessarily is or will be blake’s old friend,” and the argument for ilia being due for maidenhood is quite thin otherwise, and
blake can and does have important narrative connections to characters who aren’t faunus, and it’s a weird to presume that in order for the summer maiden to have a meaningful tie to blake, she must be a faunus herself.
to expand on that first point, let’s consider the personal relationships between each of the maidens so far and ruby / weiss / yang:
pyrrha -> ruby’s friend
cinder -> ruby’s personal enemy
raven -> yang’s estranged mother
penny -> ruby’s friend
winter -> weiss’s beloved sister
the takeaway here – other than that if you’re ruby’s friend and someone offers you to become a maiden you should refuse – is half the relations between maidens and members of team rwby are antagonistic. (raven seems likely to at least try making amends with yang in v10, but as it stands in the narrative right now things between them are very fraught.)
it is just as likely that blake’s narrative connection to the summer maiden might develop through a personal conflict between them, rather than friendship. yes?
and, if i’m right about gill being the summer maiden, well—stop me if you’ve heard this one: a girl with a driving, passionate ambition to uplift her people from the ashes of centuries of conquest and subjugation is radicalized by a boy she loves who pulls them both deeper and deeper into violent, spiteful extremism that ultimately harms the very people they claim to fight for, until he finally crosses a line she can’t accept and she says no i will not.
that’s blake and adam but it’s also gillian and her brother. the difference between them is that blake’s red line was adam glibly revealing that the train heist was actually intended to be a massacre whereas gillian’s was jax stating his intention to commit suicide rather than retreat and live to fight another day; she helped yatsu subdue him specifically to save jax’s life, not because she had a crisis of conscience about their movement.
(there is a certain—really irritating—contingent of CFVY novel readers who project their own dislike of jax onto gill and insist that she turned against him because he demanded she ‘sacrifice her life’ to save him, which 1. he didn’t, he asked her to give him all her aura and then bodily shielded her because he’s physically bigger than she is so this was at worst a “if we’re going down together, i’ll make them go through me first,” 2. if gill only wanted to save her own neck all she had to do was rip her aura out of him and bounce, and 3. she explicitly says that the reason she did what she did is because he’s her brother, she loves him, and she couldn’t let him die.)
the point being, gill is still a radical; her soft betrayal of jax revealed her priorities in that she loves her brother more than The Cause, but in no way did it represent a break from her belief in the cause. if the epilogue is any indication, she’s just as committed to overthrowing shade academy as before. (and i think there’s a real chance that her actions will have improved her relationship with jax to some degree, because he believed she didn’t care about him at all! he thought she only stuck with him because his semblance compelled her to do so! and then gillian exploded his mind by revealing that his semblance straight up doesn’t work on her and she just loves him. which, if the twins are on the same page now, cuts down on the internal tension and likely makes them more dangerous adversaries to the coalition.)
but her history, the way she became like this, is eerily similar to blake’s radicalization in the white fang, and i think blake would certainly be able to piece that together. she’s also by far the member of team rwby i would say is most likely to recognize and relate to the genuine pain at the heart of the crown’s movement—vacuo has suffered.
vacuo wasn’t even a state until the end of the great war. it was a mistrali territory. its people were enslaved and worked to death in a systematic and horrifyingly effective project to extract every last speck of valuable resources from the region, and then even statehood was a slap in the face because they were left to fend for themselves in a barren wasteland whose ecosystem had been completely and utterly destroyed.
the crown is a mirror held up to the white fang; blake is insightful and empathetic enough to realize these similarities and see herself and her past mistakes reflected in gillian, but this time she’s an outsider to the movement—she can’t effect change from within or reclaim the true, important work from the vengeful extremists. so she’s limited in what she can do, practically, even as it’s going to be painfully clear to her that the crown is falling into the same trap adam did.
and at the same time, the new white fang will in all likelihood either be in vacuo or show up to join the coalition in v10, so blake’s part in her own movement, her place in her community, can be directly juxtaposed with her opposition to/empathy for the crown.
v9 sets up for this with blake’s advocacy for the afterans—v7-8 do as well to a lesser extent, because blake is still dealing with the personal fallout of v4-6 and thus is quieter about mantle than say, nora is, but like. blake draws a comparison between her experiences in the white fang and with adam and the moral compromises ironwood starts making after the election. it just seems… pretty clear to me that the narrative has been setting up blake to play a pivotal role in relation to the crown since at least v4 if not earlier, depending on how granular the vacuo outline was during v1-3.
so this is a narrative connection i very much expect blake to have with gillian regardless, but… if gill is the maiden…
well, she’s certainly not trapped inside ozpin’s vault/key maiden paradigm! so in that case what does it look like for a member of team rwby to fulfill this narrative role of liberation? probably something like de-radicalizing her and her brother by convincing them there is a better way forward than their divisive, violent, paranoid ideology. and blake is unquestionably the member of team rwby best equipped to get the ball rolling there.
further, blake’s semblance is a really strong counter to gill’s – that’s true of ruby and weiss as well, because gillian has to touch a person in order to steal aura and so agile, fast opponents are going to be tougher for her in general. but blake has two more things going for her beyond the basic mobility advantage, vis-a-vis making it personal:
the illusionary aspect of blake’s semblance will allow her to create decoys, which is a very powerful tactical advantage against an opponent who really wants to grab her, and
blake’s girlfriend is a hand-to-hand fighter, and an incredibly brave one with an intense protective instinct at that.
clears throat. we all remember yang getting possessed in rwby x jl part 2, yes? and blake clocking it instantly? well.
if blake and gillian are meant to be not just foils but personal adversaries in the vein of ruby and cinder—yang’s gonna get got. agile though she is, as a hand-to-hand combatant yang is unavoidably much more vulnerable to the twins’ contact-based semblances than the rest of her team, her personality will make it very hard for her to play it safe and stay back if it comes to an open fight, and there is nothing the narrative could do to lock in that personal enmity that would be punchier than yang being compromised.
even if gill as a personal adversary to blake isn’t in the cards i expect yang to get got anyway because, let’s be honest: do we really expect crwby to set themselves up with a golden opportunity to do a climactic love-overcomes-mind-control scene with the bees in v10 and then not take it? with how nuts the entire creative team goes for these two? after the climactic battle in ice queendom hingeing on yang being able to free blake from a nightmare with the mere lesser power of unrealized lesbianism? do we reeeally believe they would pass that up? lol.
#sidebar it continues to be hysterical to me that the average bees shipper is like#i feel like you guys really let the haters get to you bc every time i see bees v10 speculation from hardcore bees people it’s always like#''well there’s a lot going on but i hope they get a little spotlight. i hope they get to go on a date''#HELLO??? ??#or else it’s meeting-the-parents fluff (the belladonnas) or hurt/comfort (blake chews out raven etc)#which at least bespeaks an awareness that the relationship is narratively important#BUT WHY ARE YOU ALL SO TIMID#WHERE IS YOUR FIRE#why am i (casual bees enjoyer) the one who’s like I THINK YANG WILL GET MEMORY-TWISTED BY THE ARC VILLAINS AND THEN#BLAKE WILL HAVE TO FIGHT HER ON THE ROOFTOPS OF VACUO AT SUNSET PLEADING WITH HER TO WAKE UP#WHILE REFUSING TO ACTUALLY LAND ANY BLOWS ON HER#BUT THEYRE SOULMATES AND PARTNERS AND THEYVE FOUGHT SIDE BY SIDE SO OFTEN THAT AT A CRITICAL MOMENT#YANG WILL REACH OUT INSTINCTIVELY AND CATCH GAMBOL SHROUD AND ITLL BE LIKE SUNLIGHT BREAKING THROUGH THE CLOUDS#AND SHE’LL KNOW AND BLAKE WILL KNOW AND THE TIDE OF THE SEEMINGLY HOPELESS BATTLE RAGING AROUND THEM#WILL TURN IN AN INSTANT#AND THEN THEYLL KISS#like that just seems like obviously something that is going to happen in some form in v10#(also i think raven and blake will get along a lot better than bees shipper orthodoxy anticipate but that’s for another post)

Some Judah lore that’s brewing in the brain atm
✦ ─── ᴏᴄ ⋆┊ᴊᴜᴅᴀʜ ᴅᴜʙᴏɪꜱ
- He’s the black sheep of his family, he doesn’t have the best relationship with his parents—finding himself much closer to his two siblings, despite their own toxic behavior. Judah visits when he’s obligated to—such as holidays, but otherwise doesn’t go out of his way. Even when he’s visiting his home country of France, he tries to keep a low profile so his parents don’t find out he’s in the area and force him to visit. Sometimes it doesn’t work out though and they wind up calling him anyways—but he always has a good excuse or lie up his sleeve prepared.
- Judah has been married once and is now divorced. The entire ordeal has left him bitter and jaded, as well as unwilling to commit again. The fact that it was also public gossip around the corporate world that made him much more resentful and angry at the subject. Bring up his divorce or his ex-husband unprompted at your own risk.
- While not the only factor, adultery was one of the reasons for the end of his marriage. His now ex-husband, Aurelio, was having an affair behind his back. The secret was discovered by Judah’s assistant—Arlo. Despite bribes then followed by threats from Aurelio to keep the matter a secret, Arlo’s loyalty to Judah didn’t sway.
- Judah isn’t one to show affection or much appreciation for anyone, but Arlo has earned himself a place in Judah’s life. Deep, deep, deep down, Judah developed a fondness for his employee. He pays him his worth and begins to be much more lenient with his scheduling and demands. He’s still a short tempered, impatient, demanding asshole, but Arlo will always have job security and perks with Judah.
- Judah enters the fold by meeting Paolo and Paola at a fancy corpo gala that the twins are crashing/pulling a heist at. They’re not blending in too well, being loud, boisterous street kids and all, but no one has paid much attention to them—until Judah overhears. He’s not upset though, it’s not his event, he gives zero fucks of these two blue oddballs want to steal or crash. He’s bored and very uninterested in being there, so he decides why not have a little fun? 😏 He invites them to stick with him as his guests if anyone asks, and he teaches them to blend in a little, all while helping them achieve whatever it is they need to do. It was supposed to be a one off thing for Judah, with the twins offering their contact info for any work he might have for them before they went their separate ways—Judah didn’t expect them to actually track him down and show up at his office building trying to get in to see him. 😒Turns out the twins ended up being way clingy than he realized. He’s slowly getting used to having friends, they’re definitely making sure of it. 😇
- Eventually, at some point in the story, Judah and Salem also meet when they become work associates. Judah tries to get Salem on board to collab on some projects with his media-entertainment company, meanwhile Salem finally agrees and begins working on his projects, all while making the entire business ordeal very difficult for Judah—solely for the fuck of it. 😏They can’t stand each other more often then not—with Salem intentionally pushing a very no-nonsense Judah’s buttons. But they still enjoy each other’s presence sometimes. They’re frenemies. 🖤
- Judah is afraid of dogs—therefore very afraid of werewolves and lycans, despite the Twins and Embry being full blooded lycans. He doesn’t mind them once he gets to know them, but they still forget and like to run at him while shifted in their wolf forms. They’re just excited to see him! 🥺 Poor Judah still isn’t used to it and flinches each time.

I remember, back when I used to be a gacha kid, that I would see videos of Muslim gachatubers(that was what it was called when you made gacha videos, for clarification) advocating for Palestine. I remember thinking nothing of it, except a tossed away “isn’t that the country that used to be where Israel is?”
I remember Muslim YouTubers and TikTokers advocating for Palestine.
I remember thinking nothing of it except for the same “isn’t that where Israel is?”
I remember when the news articles became more mainstream.
I remember thinking “that’s horrible, but Israel has a right to that land, too. both sides are committing violence”
I remember it getting worse, I remember having my eyes opened.
I remember seeing news on it, hearing current events presentations at school.
I remember wanting to scream “Free Palestine!”, because I had finally listened, and seen the inherently corrupt government of Israel.
I remember the news becoming more and more urgent, of starting to see bombings.
I remember the anger I felt when upon searching “palestine”, the first image that popped up showed a pin of the US and Israeli flags, saying ‘I stand with Israel’.
I remember seeing more and more activists talking about the horrors happening.
I remember the mainstream news still being blatantly pro-Israel.
I remember seeing all of my feeds, on tumblr, on YouTube, on Pinterest, slowly filling with more pro-Palestine content.
I remember when a presidential candidate was arrested for protesting.
I remember when I starting getting asks from desperate Palestians.
I remember when I first started truly seeing the genocide. The bombings, but also the mutilated bodies, the beheaded babies, the Israelis bragging about kidnapping and murder and genocide, the crying men and women and children, the rubble, the death counts.
I remember when the media, the celebrities finally started to advocate for freedom.
I remember my asks flooding with people who just want to live safely. Who would go to anyone who had shown any semblance of support.
and I remember that this is only an outsider. I remember that even though I have seen countless videos, photos, posts, it can’t even compare to living these horrors. I remember that the tears I have shed, the terrors I have seen, are only a fraction of the tears shed by Gazans, of the terrors they have lived.
Remember. When this genocide is taught in history classes, remember them. When political leaders try to dismiss them, or support Israel, remember them. When the rest of the world has moved on, remember them. Remember.
and please, while I have your attention, donate to these campaigns, and help them remember the feeling of hope and safety.
This isn’t even nearly all of them, so please go to my blog and search under the tag “Palestine” or “gfm”, you will find more, as well as resources to help the general well-being and not just specific families.

“they hate my tboy swag”,
no salem, we hate your blatant racism/orientalism, agreeing with fakeclaims against sawyer, fetishization of transwomen/transfem people, scamming/committing what’s def a money related crime, coddling and defense of a rapist, and all the other heinous shit you do. you google yourself constantly and then whine about stuff you don’t want to see. you’re fanning the flames of your own downfall. a sensible “i don’t give a fuck about the masses and i draw for me” artist wouldn’t feed into this stuff. not to mention how you just bark and not bite, if you can’t handle that the shit you dish out isn’t welcomed or liked by people? DON’T DISH OUT THE SHIT. you aren’t immune to criticism, salem. and the fact you decided to relink yourself to your old alias is hilarious, that just means people who disliked you before means they can find you easily and criticize you more for your actions. also, stop comparing yourself to religious or in general martyrs, they didn’t draw transwomen furries with large cocks to become martyrs, you are not a martyr, you’re someone who always has to be the victim.
also him sexualizing one of his supposed alters is so creepy to me am i the only one 😭

ABUSE BRACKET - ROUND ONE: FALLEN PETALS VS IRONDEATH
Propaganda is below the cut.
FALLEN PETALS
"can't call this one abusive yet specifically but it totally would be but it would also be fun. Literally that 'lets just add some hatred- oh, no, that's obsession, whoops' meme. The red/black/gold colour scheme vs red/black/silver, magic vs antimagic, (if you really wanted you could do a dark fairytale aesthetic: girl lost in the woods vs monster in the woods), this could truly be so deep and you know that if Cinder got her hands on Ruby she'd break her mind into shards goddamn, can't get more fun then that."
"Cinder would think death is too good for Ruby and would try to mentally break her."
"The OG hero/villain toxic doomed yuri of RWBY—what’s better than Cinder becoming violently passionately obsessed with a teen girl who doesn’t care that she exists? Wanting revenge in any way she can get it, desperately trying to possess the evidence of her failures… while Ruby doesn’t know what’s going on but can’t tolerate Cinder’s crimes—it’s juicy <3"
IRONDEATH
"the chemistry was sizzling off the bone with their One Scene, could you imagine Dark Queen and King of Atlas Power Ship? Couples that commit world domination together."

Was recently reminded how interesting I find the whole “villain mind controls the heroes to commit crimes and eventually fight each other” story and it made me wonder. If someone with a mind control quirk took over Ruby’s group, who would snap out of it first? Who would snap out last? What would break each of them out of it?
Let’s say the story is Salem hires someone to infiltrate the overcrowded Vacuo and weaken it before she arrives by controlling as many of the huntsmen and huntresses there as they can. Probably can’t control everyone, so they target the “important” ones.
Well, not spoiling the RWBY novel "Before The Dawn" but mind control is kind of a major plot point which, going by the V9 Epilogue is going to continue in V10.
Now to avoid writing a novel I'm going to restrict this just to Team RWBY - If the team got placed under mind control I think who would snap out of it REALLY depends on the circumstances.
If Blake's folks are there then I'm pretty sure their presence could do it, likewise Winter and Weiss.
If Blake gets free then I have no doubt in my mind that she could snap Yang out of it and Yang could do the same for Ruby.
I do feel like none of the girls would be especially susceptible to mind control though so it wouldn't take a huge effort to free them.
And now I kinda want to write a fic with either Blake or Yang being mind controlled and one fighting the other and trying to snap them out of it.

Phoenix my beloved? Feel free to rip and tear
Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Buckle up kids, we’re going for a ride.
Just gonna go ahead and say this now: Raven is a bitch and deserves no happiness, and Tai deserves better.
She had a husband that loved her, a team that was like family, and a little girl of her own. And what does she do?
She fucking runs off to go play bandit in the wilds of Mistral.
If it isn’t glaringly obvious, I despise Raven. She’s a coward that goes on and on about strength, but isn’t strong enough to be there for her family. She uses her ‘strength’ to abuse others along with her clan, robbing, pillaging, and murdering their way through Mistral, and leaving the survivors of whatever town they hit at the mercy of the Grimm that inevitably descend on them while the bandits make their get away. She is a horrible, awful person who threw away a chance at a good life with a loving family because she’s afraid of commitment, and if there’s any justice she’ll meet a violent end before RWBY is over.
Then of course there’s the fact that she helped Salem get the relic of knowledge to save her own skin, used Vernal as a decoy so no one would suspect who the real Spring Maiden, which would ultimately get Vernal killed (no great loss tho, tbh), and it is heavily implied if not outright confirmed that she murdered the previous spring maiden in cold blood to take the powers for herself.
But if the fact that Neopolitan got away scot free with everything she did (and boy do I have some thoughts about her) is anything to go by, Raven will probably be welcomed back into the fold with little to no issues because she wants to ‘make amends’ or some rot like that.
Why don’t you try making amends for Shion village you super bitch? Oh right, you can’t.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5aa2fb4e5321ea974d38ec08e87d804a/0b5f8f25b7eb971f-36/s540x810/2fea4e9d985918d26203561660ed6e2905c333cc.jpg)
Because you and your clan murdered everyone there.
To clarify, I still find Raven an interesting character. I hate her, but in a ‘this character is really well written awful person way’ rather than a ‘this character is boring’ way. I can still find her interesting while wishing for her to die in a ditch from a gut wound, unloved and unremembered.
I know that turned into a rant about Raven, but honestly it’s the fact that she is such an awful person is why I don’t like Phoenix, or any Raven ship. She just doesn’t deserve happiness, and no one deserves to suffer by being with her (except maybe Cinder, but that’s for a different ask). She had her chance, and she threw it away.
But: I will still give the ship a 2/10 rating because A: Tai was happy with her, at least for a time, and B: we got Yang out of it. So there is at least some silver lining in these Raven dark clouds.
Also, complete side note here, but we never talk about the fact that Shion village was somewhere Jaune was familiar with. His family vacationed there in the past, he would have known people that lived there. He probably had friends there.
And now they’re dead. Because of Raven. I know it’ll never come up again, but I hope and pray we get something about that if Raven pops up in V10. Preferably just before she’s hanged for her numerous crimes against humanity.
And as another side note: this isn’t me attacking the asker. They specifically asked me to rip into Raven, and rip into her I did. I’m not gonna hate or be rude to anyone for liking a ship I don’t.

What are our Friends Doing? The ones that once escaped The Facility? Are those times behind (as much as they can be, At least?)
(Fallen Angel/Questions from the Facility AU)
((It’s been a hot minute hasn’t it))
“We’re mostly doing fine.” Ruby shrugs, glancing up from her book. There are noises of assent, some more confident than others. “It’s been almost a year since The Breakout,” you can hear the capital letters in her emphasis.
“It’s been… an adjustment.” Ruby pushes up a pair of round-rimmed glasses. Her eye sight hasn’t been the same since the magic eye lasers or whatever you hacked into her. “For all of us.”
“Yang had to get a new hand,” Ruby whispers. “Whatever Salem did to it couldn’t be fixed and the doctors had to amputate. Dr. Pietro made her a new one, though, and I think she’s happy.”
She looks sideways her sister, who is sitting with a yellow-painted hand held tight in Blake’s hand. “In fact I know she’s happy.” The blonde is carefully not making eye contact with anyone, but Blake is smiling smugly.
“Oh!” Her ears perk up. “The Avians were all declared people in the eyes of the law, which is great!” The proud smile on her face fades slightly. “It hasn’t all been good, though,” she murmurs, ears drooping. Ruby drops her gaze back to her book.
“It’s been a year, but we’re all still having trouble adjusting.”
“Roman moved in with Penny, but he still can’t sleep through a week without nightmares.” She turns a page, writing down an answer for her homework. “Or they both get nightmares, about being controlled or being the one controlling.” Ruby sighs. “Uncle Qrow says they might never go away completely.”
“Hazel had to go back to jail for the crimes he committed, even though he helped all of us so much.” Ruby turns another page and stares at an anatomical sketch of a cobra. “Cinder JUST got let out of juvie for her role in Pyrrha’s death, even though she was freaking brainwashed into it.”
“The doctors say Jaune will never remember everything about his family. The avians still can’t go outside without being scared of getting attacked.” Her voice is shaking and her grip tightens on her pencil.
“I got my mom back, but on her bad days she can’t even remember her name!” Ruby pushes the book away from her, suddenly furious at the drawing of the snake. “It’s been a year- I- We saved EVERYONE but it’s like Salem still won!”
Her glasses are foggy, and it’s with surprise she realizes that she’s crying. Zwei whines and Ruby bundles the corgi into her arms. Yang glances over, on edge, and Ruby waves her away.
“Dr. Peach says it’s trauma,” Ruby murmurs, her voice muffled in a face full of corgi fur. “That we’re all tense because it’s the anniversary.”
She shrugs. “We’re mostly doing fine.”

I just saw one of the most bad faith arguments regarding James I’ve seen in awhile and they claimed that the reason James was going to “let the world die” because he “had a beef with a 17 year old that lied to him once.”
First off she didn’t lie “once” She directly lied to him twice and then lied by omission which convinced him to continue working on a plan they knew wouldn’t work.
Secondly, how is trying to keep the relics away from Salem leaving the world to die exactly? If Salem never gets the relics she can’t summon the gods and can’t destroy the planet. If the argument is about James pulling his armies out....well any of the soldiers in Haven Leo would have killed as Leo got literally everyone else killed, Vacuo probably wants nothing to do with Atlas anyways and understandably so. Not to mention up until Salem rolled up he was planning to give help to the other kingdoms but an immortal witch able to command an endless army of soulless man eating monsters rolled up and he had to address that first. Yes it sucks but that doesn’t make him a monster. That doesn’t mean he was abandoning everyone forever and it doesn’t mean he was leaving the world to die.
The characters that come closest to leaving the world to die are RWBY themselves whose actions put the relics directly into Salem's hands. Not the guy who had a plan to keep them away that would have worked had the mains not committed treason.

Inktober Poem — “Kill The Witch” for Prompt: “Witch”
“Kill The Witch” by Lettie CW: witch hunts/witch-phobia (is that a term?), calling out the patriarchy, cursing (censored), death, slight implications of witches being feminine coded in language (hard to avoid when mainly women were targeted for witchcraft historically), witch stereotypes (not necessarily negative), fire, alluding to modern “witch hunts” (note an eye roll here), Christian-normativity in Western civilizations (in a bad light, no offense intended), rhabdophobia (fear of magic).
Author’s Notes:
I was inspired by the witch hunts in Europe and the Americas, especially the Salem Witch Trials (1690s) and the early ones in Germany during the 1400s.
I tried avoiding gendered language (aside from the slurs), as witches can be any gender identity or sex.
It was hard due to the misogyny associated with anti-witch rhetoric, plus most accused (and/or killed) during the witch trial were feminine presenting / considered women. Granted, that does not mean men were never accused. Mind you, they didn’t really accept “other” gender identities historically in Western Europe and the Americas post-Columbus…
I really wanted to write something about the identity of being a witch, but this ended up being a “vent poem” about how it feels to be on the fringes of society / counterculture.
The moldy wheat reference is to the theory that the supposed “witchcraft” during certain witch hunts was the actual cause of abnormal behavior in the supposed “witchcraft victims”.
I intentionally used slurs used against women, as a woman is the worst thing you can be in a patriarchal society sometimes. The language is misogynistic and harmful to someone of any gender identity. You’re feminine? Then you’re living up to negative stereotypes. You’re masculine? Then you aren’t manly enough. That’s why I used those terms - because of that stupid mentality amongst some societies.
This is very European/American coded, as I didn’t want to write about other cultures that I know less about the role of “witches” and “witchcraft” in such as Asian and Pan-African cultures.
I mention tarot toward the end, and how non-witches…are “intrigued” by witchy-stuff in a disrespectful manner, where it is more like we’re sideshow acts or carnival workers. I know not all witches use tarot/divination, but it felt right for the poem.
“Kill the witch!” They yell. “B!tch!” They call us. Burnt at the stake Stoned to death, with bloodshot eyes Deluded, they try to kill us
“Kill the witch!” They demand. “Wh0re!” They call us Mistreated Misused Unloved?
“Kill the witch!” They call out. “Cow!!” They call us. Shall we call them sir and ma’am? As we burn
“Kill the witch!” They chant. “S!ut!” They call us Wink and blow ‘em a kiss As the flames surround your ankles
“Kill the witch!” They roar. “Harlot!” They call us Is it really so wrong what we do? We can burn you too
“Kill the witch?” They murmur “Where’d the witch go?” Crowds demand to know A giggle fills the air as the village sets aflame, Who is the prey and who is the hunter now?
“Kill the witch!” They scream in fear. “Where’d the witch go?” They search the skies We don’t ride brooms, But baby do we fly. “Kill the witch!” They determined. No justice, oblivious to innocence Can’t you be strong and smart? Or did you eat some moldy wheat?
“Kill the witch!” They chant again. “You trollop!” They insult. What sins have we committed? Are our hearts shrunken and black?
“Kill the witch!” The voices fade. “Kill the witch?” The voices ask The witch smiles knowingly, Having been here centuries before.
“Kill the witch!” They call for once more. “Witch! Witch! Witch!” They chant It’s been six-hundred years We don’t die darlings
“Kill the witch!” “Kill the witch!” “Kill the witch!” It’s a witch hunt, you see. “Kill the witch!” The crowd demands. A smirk upon the witch’s lips, Weaving the magic of freedom. We break free from convention, We break free from the flames. We soar into our ascent to power.
“Long live the witch!” They chant now. They only like us when we’re helpful. Our ancestors are the ones who didn’t have their souls burn, The ones who were midwives and healers, Knowing nature’s remedies.
“Witch, tell me my fate” They demand. A small smirk once more, The flames now lighting a candle wick. Flipping over the tarot card, Death smiles up at the witch.

That "Spaywall" link above should get you the article, but if it doesn't, here it is:
GREENSBORO, N.C. — An avowed white nationalist who openly supports Russia is a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, recently served in the North Carolina Army National Guard and worked for a local sheriff’s office as a detention officer, according to a Raw Story investigation.
Christopher Woodall, 34, of Winston-Salem, N.C., has a long history of activism in the white power movement that coincided with his service in the U.S. military and government work.
In an interview this week with Raw Story, Woodall acknowledged that he is the author of texts that promote a “white nationalist training group," and added: “I don’t see it as an issue to have a white-friendly group of people that get together and teach each other.”
Woodall’s extremist resume, by his own account, includes involvement with the Ku Klux Klan and National Socialist Movement, the latter being a violent neo-Nazi group whose membership peaked in the mid-2000s. In 2021, Woodall indicated in text messages that he was an active member of a chapter of the chapter of American Guard — a group aligned with the Proud Boys but with more pronounced white nationalist leanings — for the western half of North Carolina. And recently, he organized what he described to online acquaintances as a “white nationalist training group.”
While enlisted in the North Carolina Army National Guard and continuing as a member of the Army Reserve, Woodall made statements in support of Russian military activity in Ukraine — siding with a country that President Joe Biden has said “poses an immediate and persistent threat to international peace and stability.” The United States is committing to billions of dollars in aid to support Ukraine in its war with Russia.
As a member of the North Carolina Army National Guard until this past April, Woodall actively trained with a unit that was on call to respond to orders from the governor to assist during hurricanes or quell riots — “to protect life and property and to preserve peace, order and public safety,” as the state Department of Public Safety explains it.
When Woodall separated from the North Carolina Army National Guard on April 18 following completion of a four-year contract, he went into the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group, also known as the “inactive ready reserve,” spokesperson Patrick Montandon said.
Montandon told Raw Story that Woodall’s status doesn’t require him to “come in for drills” and “he’s no longer assigned to a specific unit,” but is “on call if there was ever a need for additional service members to be called in for unique circumstances.”
Reached by Raw Story, Woodall disputed the National Guard’s claim that he remains a member of the reserve.
Informed of Woodall’s white supremacist activity, Montandon told Raw Story: “I will take that into account and speak with those that need to know that information.” He added, “I can’t speak on behalf of what action would be taken or not taken.”
Asked for the North Carolina National Guard’s position on white supremacist or extremist activity by its members, Montandon later provided a written statement citing a guidance from the U.S. Department of Defense that “expressly prohibits military personnel from actively advocating supremacist, extremist, or criminal gang doctrine, ideology, or causes or actively participating in such organizations.”
Guarding jail inmates
Woodall was also recently employed by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer at the Greensboro jail.
He was hired in September 2020 and voluntarily resigned in February 2022, according to a response from the agency to a public records request by Raw Story.
Guilford County Sheriff Danny Rogers said in a prepared statement on Wednesday that Raw Story’s reporting “was the first notice the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office had received of these allegations.” Because the sheriff’s office could not independently confirm Woodall’s reported activities, Rogers declined to comment further about Woodall, but added: “The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is, however, a racially, ethnically, and religiously diverse organization and condemns any type of discrimination based on those factors.”
Woodall told Raw Story he voluntarily left the sheriff’s office because he didn’t appreciate how he “was treated by leadership” and because the job was stressful. The sheriff’s office said in response to the public records request that “Mr. Woodall did not have any disciplinary actions resulting in dismissal.”
Woodall was previously suspended from the sheriff’s office for seven days in September 2021 for discipline, according to the agency He told Raw Story that the discipline resulted from him getting into a fistfight outside of work during a road-rage incident, adding that the other individual struck him first. Woodall was charged with “misdemeanor simple affray.”
Woodall told Raw Story that the other man didn’t show up in court, and court records reviewed by Raw Story show that the district attorney dismissed the charge.
‘We are a brotherhood and a war band’
Following the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced the formation of a working group to root out extremism from the U.S. military.
But a recent investigation by USA Today found that more than two years later few of its recommendations have been implemented, including one that would require recruiters to screen applicants by asking about past membership in extremist groups or participation in violent acts. An audit released last week by the Inspector General for the Defense Department echoes USA Today’s reporting, including a finding that only four out of 10 recruits in a sample were asked about or responded to questions about extremist or criminal gang affiliation.
Extremist activity in the military and among veterans, which received significant scrutiny after Jan. 6, is a politically fraught topic, even researchers have reached different conclusions.
A recent report by the RAND Corporation found that support for extremist elements such as the Proud Boys, QAnon and political violence, in general, were lower among veterans than the general population, but a report by the University of Maryland’s National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism found that affiliation with the U.S. military is the “single strongest” predictor of violent extremism in America.
Woodall, for his part, is a frequent user of the encrypted messaging app Telegram, which is a popular among right-wing extremists, and he administered a channel that was originally set up in September 2021 for “patched” members of the North Carolina American Guard Western Division chapter.
As former officers of the chapter became inactive, Woodall repurposed the channel as a platform to recruit for his white nationalist paramilitary training group. Raw Story reviewed dozens of text and audio chats by Woodall as he interacted with about eight different users.
Members of the chat made little effort to downplay race as an organizing principle.
On Telegram, Woodall invited “like-minded folk” to attend paramilitary-style trainings to learn about firearms, tactical gear and survivalism. The only eligibility requirement, he said, was “dedication to learning and being part of a brotherhood and a tribe here in NC that will look out for one another if SHTF.” (The acronym stands for “s--- hits the fan.”)

Christopher Woodall, posting under the screen name "Berserker," invites white nationalists to a join a paramilitary training group in central North Carolina in January 2023.Telegram screengrab
Reached by phone, Woodall did not deny that he made the posts to the Telegram chat about recruiting for the training group. Asked by Raw Story about the purpose of the trainings, Woodall said preparation for “SHTF” was “a generalization for a societal collapse.”
One member of the chat, who went on participate in Woodall’s training camp, celebrated Robert Jay Mathews — founder of the violent white power group the Order, who was killed during a shootout with the FBI in Washington state in 1984 — as an inspiration for “future leadership to rise to the occasion and other men to follow in their footsteps.”
Woodall himself ran a TikTok channel whose bio included the acronym “WPWW,” which stands for “white pride world wide,” and made a post with the inscription “RaHoWa,” short for “racial holy war.”
Woodall told Raw Story his use of the phrase was “satire.”
A video of one of Woodall’s trainings that was initially shared on his TikTok account, shows Woodall and three other men who are dressed in tactical gear advancing in formation and firing assault rifles. In mid-March, Woodall reshared the video, which is set to an electronic dance music and heavy metal soundtrack, on Telegram. “Here’s a video from our last session. If anyone is foggy on the nature of our activities,” he wrote at the time.
Woodall had mentioned in the chat in late January that the group had property in Reidsville, N.C. — a small city north of Greensboro — suggesting the training recorded in the video took place at that location.
There was no age restriction for the white nationalist training group. One Telegram user in Durham told Woodall that he would have trouble getting transportation to the trainings “partially because I’m young and live with my parents,” adding that he could probably make it in the summer.
Woodall replied, “Just let me know and we’ll get you plugged in with the crew.”
To another user who asked whether teenagers could attend, Woodall replied: “All family is allowed. Young and old.”
Woodall and the other participants felt comfortable talking about firearms training and various strains of white nationalist ideology under the apparent belief that the channel was closed. It was not. “This is a private chat,” Woodall wrote in March. “No worries.” He went on to share his qualifications: “I have 8 years experience in the Army (combat arms), and Law Enforcement. A further 2 years of private out of pocket training with various groups and instructors in CQB [close-quarters combat], Contractor courses, and defense scenarios.” Despite Woodall’s assurance, the chat was, in fact, not private. The chat was discovered by anonymous antifascist researchers in North Carolina, who then determined Woodall’s identity. Raw Story independently confirmed Woodall’s identity by comparing his various social media accounts, and when asked, Woodall did not dispute that he was the author of the Telegram posts.

Message posted by Christopher Woodall in a Telegram channel in March 2023Telegram screengrab
From January through March 2023, Woodall repeatedly solicited Telegram users to join his “white nationalist training group,” often addressing users individually. The solicitations almost invariably included the phrases “training group,” “firearms,” “brotherhood” or “tribe” — or, in one instance, “war band,” — and “SHTF.”
When Woodall first issued an invitation to join the trainings, he announced that they would take place once a month. But by March, he said he hoped to increase to twice a month as the group grew. On occasion, when access to a firing range wasn’t required, he said, they would convene at a “clubhouse” on his property in Winston-Salem, N.C., for a “home station meet.” Eventually, he said, he planned to start collecting dues.
In late March, Woodall put out a notice for a training to be conducted on private property outside of Salisbury, N.C., roughly midway between Greensboro and Charlotte, for the second Saturday in April. The agenda, according to Woodall’s message, included “firearms fundamentals/live fire”; “team movement/CQB” — an acronym for “close quarters battle”; and “SALUTE/LACE reports,” two acronyms that respectively address assessments of opposing forces while on patrol and the capacity of one’s own force.
Then, six days before the training, Woodall abruptly announced: “Sorry guys, but I’ve officially killed the group. Sudden, I know, but I’m tired of people being fair weather warriors if that makes sense. No more training, at least not by me. We are still open to meeting everyone here and at least becoming Tribe together.”
Despite disavowing “groups” following the cancellation of the April 8 training, Woodall still aspired to gather like-minded white nationalists together in central North Carolina.
When a new member joined the chat in early June, Woodall explained, “I’ve always wanted to get everyone together for a meet and greet, but it doesn’t seem like anybody wants to take the time or effort to do so really. I’ve kept the chat open just in case, but if you’d like to try to get something together, feel free to reach out.” To the same user, Woodall expounded, “Groups really aren’t the way to go anymore IMO. I’ve done everything from running a state for the KKK to larping [live-action role play] for the NSM. I’ve been in too many political groups to name, brother. They all end up the same. All talk, lots of drugs usually, lots of useless hot air. It’s the biggest reason that I preach tribalism these days. My buddies’ families and mine are bound and we’ll have each other’s backs if SHTF.” (Woodall’s past involvement with the Ku Klux Klan is by his own account and could not be independently verified by Raw Story.) He added: “But since there’s been some renewed activity here, I’m going to try to orchestrate maybe a cookout at a park somewhere next month and invite everyone.”
Stephen Piggott, a researcher and program analyst at the Western States Center who focuses on white nationalist, paramilitary and anti-democracy groups, told Raw Story it’s always concerning when white nationalists move from online networking to in-person mobilizations.
“When you add firearms and routine training with firearms to the equation, the potential for violence increases dramatically,” Piggott said in an email to Raw Story. “These guys are not going to the range to practice target shooting, they are actively preparing for conflict.” In one of the Telegram messages, Woodall wrote that “similar ideology and the importance of communicating with people that believe the same things as we do” were important principles for the trainings, and he acknowledged to Raw Story that the trainings were “for white people.”
But he repeatedly insisted the trainings were not violent or insurrectionary.
“I don’t espouse violence against anyone for any reason unless it’s self-defense,” he told Raw Story. He also said, “I don’t espouse overthrowing any government.” And: “I don’t espouse a white takeover of any country.”
Piggott told Raw Story that Woodall’s statements should be treated with skepticism.
“We can’t see into this man’s heart, but there’s little to indicate that his activities are doing anything other than preparing for violence,” Piggott said. “His social media postings of ‘no political solution’ and ‘ra-ho-wa,’ short for ‘racial holy war,’ are indicators that he ascribes to the view that for white nationalists to succeed requires a violent overthrow of the current system.”
Pro-Russian content on TikTok
While the Telegram chats focused on firearms training and food-related topics like canning and raw milk, Woodall explored a different topic in his TikTok channel: Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine. One video shared on Woodall’s account promotes the view that Russia is winning the war — an assessment most U.S.-based national security analysts reject.
He also commented favorably about Russian forces fighting a battle while outnumbered on a pro-Russia TikTok account that highlights Russian military successes.
The pro-Russia TikTok account had previously complimented Woodall for a weight-lifting video he posted, writing, “Holy s— you are strong.”
“I’m trying, brother,” Woodall replied, adding a smiling face emoji. “I do have pro-Russia standpoints,” Woodall told Raw Story. RELATED ARTICLE: Jericho March extremists illustrate threat of present-day MAGA violence
While Woodall disputed the assertion by the National Guard that he’s still enlisted in the reserve forces, he said he doesn’t think his pro-Russia views would pose a conflict with military service, even considering the United States’ adversarial relationship with Russia and military support for Ukraine.
“It is not, because everyone is entitled to their opinion on any subject matter that they deem to be in their wheelhouse of understanding,” Woodall told Raw Story. “Even if I were still enlisted, it wouldn’t have any bearing on my serving. I’m not providing financial support to any side of the conflict. Having an opinion on who is right in the conflict is a First Amendment matter.”
Woodall’s support for Russia compounds the concerns surrounding his white nationalist activity, Piggott said.
“Right now, the military is under increased scrutiny for allowing white nationalists into its ranks because they pose a significant danger to American communities and American defense,” he said.
Heather Hagan, a spokesperson for the U.S. Army, referred questions about Woodall to the National Guard Bureau in Arlington, Va. The bureau, in turn, referred questions about Woodall to the North Carolina National Guard.

At the risk of prompting yet another essay...
Is Salem the embodiment of despair? While I would be perfectly content with a succinct answer, I know better than to ask for one when it comes to sending questions your away about Salem. But given her spoken determination to snuff out the sparks of hope and her zeal to lay waste to Remnant in her pursuit of the relics, even if she somehow wished to remake the world, her methods are very "I have given up all hope and am taking everyone down with me."
the short answer (lol) is no, because salem has very particular views on hope; namely, she thinks of it in cyclical terms. first there is abject darkness, then even the smallest spark of hope ignites change, illuminating the world; then, eventually, that bright flame is exhausted and extinguished, darkness returns, and the cycle begins again. civilizations rise and fall and rise and fall.
she’s old.
note the general tone of her songs. i’ve made this point before but sacrifice is salem’s i may fall and where i may fall is bleakly hopeful, sacrifice is incandescently angry and the line between this anger and hope is very thin (“you can’t have my life/i’m not your sacrifice/you can try, but i’m free/and you won’t conquer me” <- this is salem with a spark of hope that she can free herself.)
but also:
pierce the sky, escape your fate the more you try, the more you’ll just breed hate and lies truth will rise revealed by mirrored eyes
salem very much considers ozpin to be the architect of hatred and lies, because he’s ruled by his fear and despair, and this is her fundamental reason for believing that he is doomed to failure. similarly, divide is a polemic against ozpin’s worst habits—salem largely is not describing her own methods but instead, as in her v3 soliloquy, rhetorically tearing ozpin apart; he is the one who lies, manipulates, sacrifices, sows doubt, and salem merely opportunistically takes advantage of his dysfunction.
and then the keystone is in when it falls ->
swallowed by the darkness soon the moon is bathed in black the light of hope is taken and discontent is the contagion the blinding eyes that burn a yellow flame the embers that remain will light the fuse of condemnation kingdoms in tatters hung on the brink of a war the peace will succumb to flames
which elaborates on salem’s cyclical perspective by clarifying what the absence of hope means to her; it isn’t despair or fear, it’s anger. discontent, condemnation, a fire just as the light of hope is also a fire. when the darkness becomes unbearable, salem expects humanity to get angry and fight back.
while this time isn’t her song, it is a reflection of how salem thinks far more so than it is blake or ghira, who it’s notionally about; yet still i believe that the peace/we’ll achieve’s growing closer/but first blood must spill like the wine at a feast/the calm only comes once the carnage has ceased/fight or die/there’ll be no release <- for salem this war is her only avenue to freedom, and she believes freedom is within her reach, so she commits to war and holds nothing back.
her determination to smother hope can’t really be separated from her belief that doing so will kindle rebellion—both against her (thus giving humankind a fighting chance to weather the storm) and against ozpin (thus ensuring his eventual defeat). she largely doesn’t expect or want people to lie down in despair and let her raze the world to ashes, and i think in the event her plan for dealing with the gods doesn’t work, her failsafe is “but the whole world will be united in opposition to my defiance, so the gods won’t annihilate them to punish me this time.”

reflect — is your muse able to self-reflect? do they use this reflection to improve or not?
Salem.
Her semblance has entire rooms dedicated to self-reflection and she has spent thousands of years deliberately whittling away her capacity for self-deception to the point that nowadays she really can’t lie to herself. Being able to see herself clearly, without distortion, is very important to her. And in the event that she sees something in herself that she wants or needs to change, her semblance allows her to do so fairly rapidly and cleanly—it’s a literal matter of renovation of her internal landscape.
Her one big blindspot is that a central pillar of her self-conception is that she is fundamentally selfish and fundamentally unlovable because of that selfishness. She’s internalized the belief that she is a dangerous monster to such a degree that it’s become invisible to her, as much an integral part of herself as her own name. Ripping that out and replacing it with a new pillar once she identifies it as a distortion is going to be… arduous. In the meantime it’s the foremost driver of her extremism: she takes it as absolute fact that she cannot ask for help and that the only people capable or interested in seeing her as a person are those who have been thoroughly broken and cast out themselves.
Ozma.
Only when they’re dead.
The nature of their reincarnation—the dissolution of each host into a hollow reflection of Ozma’s own worst self—the whole point is to prohibit change and prevent them from breaking free. The closest they’ve ever gotten to doing so was in the life they spent with Salem, but the horrifically traumatizing ending of that relationship locked in all the wrong lessons: that listening to their heart only brings pain, that telling the truth is dangerous, and that the God of Light spoke true when he condemned Salem.
When they’re dead and just themself in the white void between life and death, they’re able to see themself more clearly—but it’s almost impossible for them to hold on to whatever insights they realize whilst dead once the next cycle begins, because it’s painful and incredibly disorienting to be drawn into a new body and they get flooded with bits and pieces of the host’s self right away.
However, once the curse is broken and they’re freed? They do have about four thousand years’ worth of revelations and epiphanies that they’ve had while dead—often multiple times—repressed deep down in their subconscious that will rise pretty fast and which Ozma will finally be able to actually act upon.
Summer.
She does not spend a lot of time thinking about herself or looking back on the past; Summer prefers to live in the moment and look to the future. But—after she commits to staying with Salem—she does do a fair amount of introspection through the mirror of Salem: the two of them are… pretty similar in a lot of ways, and understanding Salem better also led Summer to a better understanding of herself.
Which is both good and bad, really: seeing Salem as a person helped Summer to also see herself as a person, something she desperately needed, but that intense identification with Salem also caused her to fall into the same trap of desperation.
Oscar.
He spends a lot of time ruminating or dreaming, more than self-reflecting—that was true long before Ozma happened to him. In part because of who raised him, Oscar finds it a lot easier to introspect out loud, in conversation with another person; he can describe himself for someone else more accurately than he can see himself alone, in a way.
This… becomes something of a double-edged sword with Ozma, because he can have conversations in his head about himself, but those conversations are with somebody who is insistent that Oscar eventually has to become them. Not great for honest self-reflection or personal betterment! He does, however, try his best to keep growing in a direction that he can be proud of.
Cinder.
She would rather die.
The primary reason she struggles so much with the grimm arm early on is her fragile sense of self and her reluctance to honestly interrogate herself. She circumvents to a degree by getting used to it and beginning to think of it as hers, but the shallowness of her self-knowledge is what makes her vulnerable to Salem’s partial control over the arm.
Watts.
He holds himself to a rigorous standard of self-honesty regarding his skills and motivations: if he says he can do something, he can. His high regard for Salem stems partly from his admiration for her willingness to be flexible, admit error, and correct course—traits that were notably in short supply in the command chain of the Atlesian Military. And if he discovers a fault or shortcoming in his abilities, he’s very quick to rectify it.
Where Arthur falters is with interpersonal relationships and emotional honesty. He has no problem expressing anger or disdain; but he’s not in tune with his other feelings and his ability to express genuine care is, to say the least, very atrophied. So when it comes to reflecting on interpersonal conflicts… he will almost always find a reason to blame it all on the other party. Salem could pry an admission of wrongdoing out of him if she put her mind to it, but it would be a heavy lift, and anybody else? Good luck.
Henrietta.
She is allergic to sitting around thinking about herself, but she’s also not at all inclined to bury or ignore things: Henrietta just kind of tackles things as they come. (In a way, she has a lot in common with the Afterans; she knows exactly what she is, she’s happy that way, and she’ll change if and how she feels the need to. Although if she made it to the Ever After she’d probably be a bit scornful of the idea of needing some magical tree to fix her up, she can do that herself thanksverymuch.)
She, like Oscar, and to a much greater degree than him, needs to talk through things out loud in order to process them. This can make her come across as self-absorbed, but she isn’t really—she just does her thinking out loud.
Elah.
The bulk of his thinking and pondering is about the deep questions of the universe moreso than himself. When Elah does reflect on himself, it tends to be in the context of his cosmic insignificance and the liberation he feels in that insignificance—he’s very much the “nothing matters! :D” type of nihilist. (Although, unlike Tyrian, he is not about annihilation: he’s a hedonistic philosopher driven by an obsessive need to describe meaning.)
That’s the sort of self-reflection that flings him headlong into occult obsessions and makes things like “eat atrum to learn more of the grimm” sound like good ideas. If it ever leads to personal growth and improvement, it’s probably by accident.

RWBY: Cinder’s Story
Yo, strange thought, but when you look at Cinder Fall’s full backstory, I think that we were meant to gleam something of what it was like to be different.
Cinder came from a trash family, something that was difficult to understand for others, but Rhodes was something that felt perfect and throughout this entire flashback we don’t see one single time that Cinder was fully confident until she kills all the people that hated her.
But I can’t forget the most important part of the story, she felt upset about killing people, she felt pain for killing Rhodes, but when you kill more than one person after killing the person that you love, than it hits different.
What I’m saying is that Cinder is a fallen character, she’s the perfect villain for the series next to Salem.
She’s the true evil that most people never face, she’s the dark side of what we all regret and all we feel at some points.
So, take this confusing essay as you will but understand that if you hate Cinder Fall than that’s fine, she did commits crimes and if you like Cinder Fall than that’s also fine, because there were points where she was just as human as the rest of us.
Thank you for reading. 8]

On Flashback Fridays I will share with you the books I was not able to review when they were first released which have been screaming at me from my To-Be-Read bookshelf. I backed off my reading goal a bit for this year to relieve some stress and get a little more sleep. Most nights, I am up between 1 and 2 to complete a book, but some nights my eyes are just slamming. I have reading commitments I must meet so it is my #FlashbackFriday reads that suffer. So today, I am sharing a book that I recently and reluctantly moved to my giveaway shelf. It’s never a good sign when the family black sheep drunkenly crashes a party by punching the guy dressed as a leprechaun. But things go from troublesome to fatal when Charlene stumbles upon a second brawl in an upper room—and this fight Connor Gallagher loses, his anonymous assailant rushing past Charlene, hidden by a hoodie. Now Detective Sam Holden has another homicide on his hands, with Charlene as the only eyewitness. Even if she can’t give the police sketch artist much to go on, Charlene is determined to ID the murderer, with the help of Dr. Jack Strathmore, the charming ghost who haunts her B&B. The answer lies in the motive, and to uncover that sleuth and spook will need to shine a light on Connor’s shady past—before the killer pulls another Irish goodbye . . .
