Inspiration and some details

Loosely inspired by this fic (🔞), this “scene” isn’t on the fic itself, but I had that story rotating inside my head for the whole time I was drawing this so I figure I might as well recommend it; I’m not sure if the OP is on here, but if they are and you happen see this somehow thank you for the fic 🤲

It is 3am but all I can think about is that one exchange in the Iliad post-duel between Hector and Ajax that essentially goes down as:

Hector: in an offering of peace and friendship, I am giving you this really nice sword, plus the scabbard and stuff

Ajax: HERE YOU GO TAKE MY BELT IT IS PURPLE :)

arthur gets impaled, and then impaled some more. he wakes up in the dark world.

he's hurting and confused and afraid. at first it's all he can do to get through each moment without going insane. he's all alone. he's never been this alone.

eventually he moves. john never told him anything substantial about this place - never told him where they could find each other again if they...got separated. so he searches for some kind of landmark, anything that stands out in this desolated place. is john even here? maybe john is still alive. maybe john will never come here again. but this is arthur's only hope, so he searches.

he finds...something. some horrific, unspeakable edifice or a singularly uncanny place or that mountain of dead horses. and he waits there for ages. minutes? maybe a lifetime.

sometimes people/creatures/souls appear. linger. pass by. sometimes they speak, and sometimes they mention an unnameable fear that stalked - stalks? - these lands. and arthur feels -

arthur wakes up screaming. his body has been impaled, impaled some more, abused, desecrated, and stitched back together. he screams until he can't breathe.

that's when he hears john (shouting at him as usual). relief dampens the pain. they are able to pick themselves up, and scrape their way to safety.

john pours out everything he had been holding back, everything he had told that witch and his friend's corpse. arthur offers forgiveness and affection, and tells john about his time in the dark world, knowing now that john was the specter that terrorized the denizens there. he speaks of the edifice where he waited alone.

john says, i made it. i was alone, subjugating out of fear and pain, and i pointed my finger and ordered a monument built so maybe one day you would find me.

and they both realize that they can never be separated in any way that matters, and for once it brings relief.

something something Sonic’s regulators in New Yoke, Boscage Maze, and No place are blue right? (well they look blue)

And in Ghost Hill, his regulators look white but (I think?) have a blue ring around it

they almost look like eyes and Nine’s eye color is blue (rainbow18 said something about Nine’s tech looking like eyes, including the regulators)

and the regulators in the Grim are not blue, they’re purple

Nine’s communicator (? what is it actually, why did he have that, yeah it’s used to communicate with Sonic but what was that before Sonic? anyways) is green, which is Sonic’s eye color

personal safety. i forget exactly what they said in the online safety classes they made you (me) take in elementary school, but its for the same reason you're not supposed to share your full name (or any name at all! make up a name and stick with it, or hey, its the internet, lie about your name and your age and say you're a math major from connecticut named matt, or something! i ain't gonna stop you! have fun with it!) and address and social security number. so people can't track you down and kidnap you or other horrible things.

In general its just like. don't share information someone could use to identify you online, because people are weird and some of them are shitty and if you say something and they don't like it, and if they can find you or identify you then thats not good!

Sorry this took a little while, I was asleep lol. Anyway, here's your lads!!

Ashe's letter was the first one I got in Hopes, so after many other ideas for this doodle (including Ashe teaching Shez about flowers, Shez reading the letter Ashe receives in their A support, etc) I decided to go with this! I hope you like it!!
