hi! would love to hear about ur art process <3
hi!! there's not much to my process really x'3 it's pretty simple and short!
first is stickmen stule sketch just to have something in front of my eyes, then colors, cause it's the most exciting part!
then it's fussing over colors a bit, sometimes with gradient maps (i figured out how they work and now i WILL use them everywhere), then when the colors look nice, a proper sketch time, and that sketch will serve as a guide for lineless !
Silly comics are even simpler cause there're only two-three steps. Possible thumbnails, then rough sketch, then lines?
(usually text (if there's any) goes under thumbnails but i outlined the comics about yjh keeping bodyparts safe before i drew it so no text was needed)
And i do have a few timelapses here and there but they... make my process out to be way more unhinged than it actually is.

hey rememberthe reverse iterators au. are you ever going to post about that again because i think it was pretty cool!
pebbles when he didnt even get to try
[More of my reverse iterator au if anyone is wondering what is going on!]
#rain world#five pebbles#hi! gonna answer you in the tags :))) hope you dont mind!#so first of anon you should concider buying a lottery ticket. the chances of me answering an ask is very very low but here we are!#second of all awww happy you like my silly little au!!!!! have a rough comic!#i admit i think what i have posted is generally a fairly complete run down on what i think about for that au. i mean theres many things i#can expand on but well i cant really do that in any coherent way so you know :) it is what it is!#so instead im giving you a snippit of pebbles angst about it all because i have missed being inside the head of this guy. he is sooo unhapp#in any and all ways rhat matter and i genuinally dont think theres any universe where he would be satesfied#and while i do overall think of this as a very silly au there is alot to be said about a pebbles rhat dosent get the chance to be his own#ruin and deal with what happens agter he fails. my pebbles in this will forever live with the what ifs and nothing more. which i find very#compelling! i think it would take him alot longer to come to terms with anything seeing as he will always have this small part of his mind#that is calculating what could be if this didnt happen. even if we of course know what will happen and it will be much the same as everythi#what happened in this au. i also havd alot of thoughts about how iterators process emotions. i think its fun to toy with the idea thatthey#do feel them but have a certain distance from them and pre programmed ideas about how they apply to themself. i dunno!!!#anyhow anyhow thansk foe the ask anon! i really should have doen this in proper text but i love me some formating so oh well!#god hope you didnt want more about moon. she is just chilling if your wondering. im not sure if she can feel things like remorse.#reverse iterator au#anyhowsis hope you have a lovely day anon! i just used this as an excsuse to draw pebbles so you know thanks for that!#and of course we are listening to it was a monstering by everything everything today i think! :D#my art#i have more doodles if anyone is curious. i should probably add.

on my hands and knees BEGGING YOU on info for how to draw dreadlocks
i don't know if i could make a good tutorial so what i can say is that references are ur BESTEST friend— via pinterest or just any image search engine
i do have these below as examples of how i draw locs, if that's anything.. ^_^ it's best to think of them as simple shapes, and then just adding more details and textures from there

#asks#my art#its said over and over again but repeated practice with drawing locs and black hairstyles in general is a really great way to improve and#-stylize how you draw them overall#maybe in the future i could try to make a tutorial but my process is like all over the place 😭#last img is something i havent posted anywhere cuz it's actually a WIP gijinka of spas-12 from animatic battle LOL

tips on how to draw cogs?
truth be told, I haven't drawn many cogs (mainly just one or two), but I will try to answer this as generally as I can!
This is a long post so I'll post this under the cut.
my biggest tip, as well as for anything, is to break down the shapes. If you try to look at everything at once it becomes really easy to overwhelm yourself. Examples will be drawn sketchy, but hopefully the point gets across.
Our first test subject is mouthpiece which I've never actually drawn before [marketable plushies post doesnt count]. as you can see, I tried to break down a lot of the shapes into much more simpler ones. A lot of cogs seem to share some very obvious shapes, probably because a lot of them are object-related (normal cogs included- first that comes to mind are pencil pushers).
You can do this with really ANY character. Here's our second test subject DOPA for another example.
now these are mainly references from the pictures themselves, which are great as a starting point. my other big tip is just to practice. you don't have to do big full pieces every day, but even just little doodles will help you. i think its very rare for anyone do to super good their first time and this goes with anything, even if you're a highly skilled artist.
you've probably also noticed but I've left out details in my examples, such as the little dots on mouthpiece's eye borders. If you feel that adding all the small details would overcrowd your drawing or just not help it, then I think it's fine to leave them out (of course there are always exceptions to this but as a general rule, its ok).
along with removing details, i think adding details also cannot hurt [to an extent]. if there's something you think would look nice then add it. who cares its your drawing have fun. As an example I'll use prethinker. I always add the little line in the middle, which his model doesn't have. But this is also based off of the 1.3 promotional art as well. Another example could be that when I draw misty, I add a line that connects their eyebrows to their eye. idk just feels more robotic to me and i like it
and again as you notice, my drawings are not model accurate. your style is most likely not going to be exactly like the game and that's completely fine. adjust to your liking, interpret as you will. enjoy the process of creation.
And finally, I'll add my little tip for metal coloring. One thing about metal is that usually the lightest highlight is next to the darkest shadow
The gif goes as base -> shadow 1 -> shadow 2 -> highlight 1 -> highlight 2 -> cleanup + extra
I like to add a few light marks to indicate scratches. although if you wanted more depth, you'd take the darkest shadow and lightest highlight and put them together like this
often the metallic parts are not the focus of my works so I leave it without. As for the random black marks on the lineart, that just also gives it more depth.
And finally, look at other peoples art. Look at the way they draw and pick out bits and pieces of what you like and try to interpret that in your own style.
ok I think that's all. Hopefully this helped!
#clemask#long post#sorry#these are kind of vague overall art tips rather than specific ones but i think its because a lot of my processes follow the same general ar#tips that i follow#but yeah my general rule is just to practice and observe. there will be things that you change and thats fine#sorry if you wanted a specific cog. if you did you can resend an ask and specify but either way i hope this helps you! or anyone else

my review of maxton hall
#i think its a great drama and who ever was in charge for the casting did a great job#i mean everyone on this show was doing a rly great job but i think the actor that plays james stood out to me the most#and maybe this is an unpopular opinion but i think his best scenes were the ones without ruby#i think lydia is also one of my fav characters but i can't bring myself to include her because of that weird pll aria and ezra storyline :/#my mind is pushing that plotline into a corner in my brain so i don't have to think about it#another thing is the pacing of the show it was a bit too fast for me#they could slow down a little bit especially since there are so many new things happening for the protagonist and side characters#james and ruby turning from enemies to friends was one of the things that happened to fast#ruby's character growth is one of my favs things but i couldn't process it like how are we already in oxford#its not so serious the pacing choice is just a personal thing for me i just like slow burn#wish season 1 was just longer in general#and overall it was really good i can't stop thinking about it but i can't rewatch it either way hahahaha it was a bit too romantic for me#hope season 2 will be here soon#maxton hall

the issue with AI chatbots is that they should NEVER be your first choice if you are building something to handle easily automated forms.... consider an algorithmic "choose your own adventure" style chatbot first
it really seems to me that the air canada chatbot was intended to be smth that could automatically handle customer service issues but honestly... if you do not need any sort of "human touch" then i would recommend a "fancier google form"... like a more advanced flowchart of issues. If you NEED AI to be part of your chatbot I would incorporate it as part of the input parsing - you should not be using it to generate new information!
#literally everyone sees AI and gets so hard they black out and it ANNOYS me!#prediction/recognition AI is fine i guess it's not without flaws but it is leagues better than generative AI#but also - use the right tool for the job#like the article said it was using ai chatbot to handle customer service. Is it so hard to create a series of pre-made questions to guide#-a customer through the process? (this is called a wizard i think)#(most importantly wizards have been around for pretty much as long as GUIs have)#'oh but you need to hardcode it' yeah and hardcoding stuff came free with having a job. Turn your questions into a series of markdown#-documents if you need someone with no tech skill to come in and put in the questions#don't outsource it to an AI. You are lowering the overall tech literacy of the population here and im not kidding#there are good uses of AI.. Woebot is a really good chatbot that uses AI precisely because it has a lot of human oversight in it#but i really think that AI is something that you better have a PERFECT - not just good - justification for#sorry.... angry tech guy rant.... i swear i dont do this in real life... i just like typing...

Plot outlines are vital to my writing process. They help me hone in on the trajectory of the story, giving my brain something to ignore while taking the draft in an entirely different direction.
#every time#EVERY TIME#i generally stick to the overall plot arc i had in mind#in terms of working toward the basic ending i planned#but my detailed outlines are a graveyard of ideas my brain turns down in favor of bullshit it makes up on the spot#trust the process#but have you considered that my process is being steered by a drunk driver with no regard for where i said we were going#like i just wrote a scene that completely contradicts the order in which i had planned to reveal certain information#but its good so of course now i have to keep it and figure out how to restructure the rest going forward#writer problems#writer life#on writing#writing#plot and structure#plot

A question did you plot your Taryn X ghost fic aka outline it or just wrote it and let the story come to you?
I'm a methodological pantser (thanks ellen brock for helping me realize my writing process is not crazy ✨) so I started with a very loose idea of: (1) where I wanted the characters to start, (2) where I wanted them to end, and (3) big developments that needed to happen along the way. all the little details came together in the process of writing, revising, re-outlining, restructuring, then rewriting. that might sound wild haha but it's just how my brain works—so yes I had a plan, but my outline was very bare bones to begin with & became more fleshed out as I wrote!
#i have to have a general plan or else i flounder#but my plan can't be too rigid or else i feel stifled and lose momentum#my early plotting process is a lot of bullet points of things i want to incorporate (often for thematic purposes - sometimes just for fun)#with only the loosest idea of where those bullet points will slot into the overall timeline#in addition to ellen brock#maggie stiefvater's writing course was a huge help to me#she encourages writers to hold their stories in their heads for as long as possible#bc as long as it's in your head it's limitless#but once you start jotting things down you put fences around it#which is necessary of course. but you don't want to start doing that too early#so a lot of the details just live in my head for a long time and then naturally find their place in the story as i'm drafting#i hope this makes sense#i feel like a lot of writers have much more straight-forward writing processes than me#and it took me a long time (and a lot of trial and error) to learn that there's nothing wrong with that lol#which is part of why i love fanfic - it gives writers a venue to test things out & learn their own writing processes#in a more low-stakes environment#anyways fun fact for you if you made it this far into my tags:#when i first jotted down a loose outline mniwyd was supposed to be five chapters#ask tag#anon#mniwyd

I went through this phase where all of my main character sets had a structure similar to the following: two besties living their consensually codependent dreams, the world's most awful bastard (affectionate but also derogatory), and an irresponsible adult who sort of accidentally adopted these teenagers and now has to try to be the responsible adult.
And honestly? That was banger.
#writing#characters#found family#fiction#ship dynamics#(not necessarily romantic ships)#(these stories generally didn't have romance or there would be an additional character bc none of these make sense romantically)#thinking of so many of my homemade blorbos#they all had individual flavor to them too#but this was the overall structure of character dynamics i was just obsessed with for some reason#friends to accomplices follows this for the most part (jake is extra)#(for those who haven't been following me for long enough to know fta is my super special wip that I eventually want to tidy up)#(my true soulmate of a work of fiction. i just got it right ig)#(which is funny because my average writing quality in that era was Not Good but friends to accomplices? everything about it just.#scratches exactly the itches that i need fiction to scratch. i just gotta make it not sound like a 14 year old wrote it)#(more of a process than you'd think)

Seedling is such an interesting little story that i love, but i´d be lying if it wasnt almost completely sprouted (hehe) from the visual of those character duos that are a small child + big scary looking creature who acts as their guard, top tier trope frfr
(also huge shoutout to @ashrayus for hearing me out and adding onto the rambles so long ago, bestie the robot story wasnt working, we got plants now 🌱)
#but also said big scary creature is her brother having an identity crisis and being chased by the horrors :D#the story is 50% strangers to (step) siblings that trust each other with their life#and 50% truths of the world conspiracy with a witch hunt on plant people + aliens doing their thing (of course)#bruhh bc what if there were aliens replacing people at a young age and using them to collect data on the overall population#and “harvesting” them when said purpose was fulfilled#thing is; when the harvesting happens its supposed to be like a switch is flipped; and the seedling just up and leaves to be collected#*but* an infinite amount of things can make this process fail; which happened with the mc; who now clings to his family like a lifeline#while also knowing the general population´s view on seedlings is abyssmal#<- even if the family has no porblem w it; government or a bad neighbour catches you? you´re *gone*#anyways; fun times for lil Vera hshshahsha#seedling#oc talk#shut up sheo#edit: hey ash remember Riven? ik hes your oc can i work with thet concept perhaps?#his color scheme and character role work soooo well!!!!!#planning on making him be one of the few who escaped the harvest but could never quite shake the switch flip

hey sara when you read rwrb did you also assume alex knew he was bi up until his sexuality crisis revealed the truth to you or was it just me who labored under delusions for the first 25 percent of the book, a whole quarter of the way through, before getting the shocking surprise that alex claremont-diaz, main character of nyt bestselling debut novel red white and royal blue, by author casey mcquiston, was NOT an out and proud bisexual man?
no actually, because im not delulu like u are . anyway .
#LMAO theres a pattern to how these books work and only occasionally are Both ppl comfortable in their identity before getting together.#bc queer panic is fun to write and also a convenient plot point to maybe add Angst or just further the Getting Together process.#besides‚ the whole point was to have a Major Big Realization that his obsession w henry wasnt purely antagonistic.#and it made for some good dramatic irony and unreliable narrator shenanigans. so im saying that it was the only way to fill up space.#and also it caused introspection‚ which leads to us learning more backstory and empathising with him more in general.#also it was hilarious that alex was high key obsessed with him for years and also had Gay Experiences in hs but still didn't realize.#and that makes alex a relatable character overall and makes the pacing of the story better‚ which is why Most queer authors tend to do this#so basically for technical reasons that i Knew bc i do literary analysis‚ also in the specific case of rivals to lovers it just made Sense.#sara's asks#rori <33#rwrb

Fixing my dialog up
Blurgh
#speculation nation#itnl shit#the struggle of writing a new character is conceptualizing their Voice#gotta settle those sliding scales down#i had formality scale too formal i think. hes kind of formal but in a pretentious way. not a true formality.#a little bit stilted in speech. trying to intimidate. trying to seem like hes got the upper hand always#talking down to people. like theyre lesser than him.#seemingly unflappable. at least at this point in the story. just a bastard man with a bastard plan.#im cross referencing manga dialog rn. i wrote originally with the 98 anime dub voice in mind#which has some Vibes but is less concrete#im going for concrete now. gotta finalize this fucking dialog.#once i smooth it out then i can go tie up the end of the scene#and Then i start the formal overall edit sweep for general coherency and consistency#as well as looking for any minor mistakes i couldve missed in earlier editing sweeps#aka. my usual process lol#i am just squinting angry bitch annoyance at this fuckin bastard man. trying to figure out how he talks#it's kind of difficult to figure out the minor differences due to Things and how that would actually go into effect#what they dont tell u about writing is that it is so very hard actually. god damn.

Weaknesses of AI image generation
The biggest flaw in AI image generation software is that it completely ignores the basics and just starts coloring the picture itself. That's why it's so unstable and makes so many processing errors. Normally, when drawing a picture, you decide on the composition, draw a rough sketch, make corrections as necessary, draw the line art, and finally color it. Don't just start drawing from scratch. If you don't have a solid foundation, you can't draw a picture properly. So what are the basics of AI? First, create the overall composition. Calculate the exact position, coordinates, and positional relationship of each element. Calculate the positional relationship between the subject and the background and foreground. Next, generate and analyze the rough sketch, and verify and correct any processing and calculation errors. Finally, generate the picture itself. Of course, the quality of the learning data and the learning method are also very important. It is clear that the traditional learning method of showing a lot of images and photos to learn has already reached its limit. It goes without saying that AI image generation software cannot overcome all of the challenges it faces. It is essential to create a system that can generate images, learn from corrected images, and recognize and correct mistakes. Furthermore, a model like that used for face recognition and identification is also necessary, and it is necessary to learn the position, ratio, and shape of each part (element), such as two eyes lined up at the top, a nose in the center, and a mouth below that. The current (conventional) learning and generation method is a system that is like copying a fake. It is also important to add 3D models (wire layers) and motion data to the learning images to learn the shape and movement. If AI images do not have a solid foundation, they cannot be expected to develop any further. It is clear that a proper foundation is essential not only in image generation, but in all fields. Automation will continue to advance in the future, and it cannot be stopped. However, the current situation is that engineers and ordinary people are only focusing on processing speed and processing power, and neglecting basic learning. Simply put, we are chasing results and completely forgetting the fundamentals, the origins.
