this election discourse reminds me so much of finals discourse…. (Obviously much higher stakes but)
#It’s like oh well game 5 was rigged#well then you should have done a better job so it wasn’t as close#“oh these stupid people are splitting the ticket aoc and trump”#well you should have SAID SOMETHING in the campaign to let them know it wasn’t going to be the same#Maybe not “I can’t think of anything that would change from Biden to Harris”#obviously these results are very serious and very bad things are going to happen#but blaming voters for being “stupid” or not thinking about the bigger picture is how we got here#you cannot just say well it would be worse with the other guy#you have to give people something to vote FOR#like I was also of the mindset well enthusiasm looks good for Harris#and I don’t particularly think Biden was great candidate in 2020 but I voted for him anyways#so it’s really not all that different this year#but it was and either the democrats are actually going to have a reckoning or this country won’t exist#there are a few other options but like …#and as someone who does still mask everywhere I kind of thought well I know the pandemic is still happening#and that this admin is letting it run wild not to mention h5n1#but other people ie everyone who doesn’t mask doesn’t know or doesn’t care so that probably won’t be the tipping point#and it turns out that calling the pandemic over and dropping the safety net the Dems put in place#actually did affect people and furthermore people seeing foreign aid but not domestic aid was also a big issue#I did see the bloodbath electoral map if pelosi hadn’t forced Biden out and that was wild

Caught up to the fic!! Absolutely fascinated by all the queer/punk/poc history here, since I don't know much myself. Very sweet chapter as well.
Unrelated question - mostly - but why is it common fanon to depict Noir as the more scarred up of various spiderpeople? Naturally everyone has their fair share of fights, though the only we see sustaining any marks is Peter B and his misaligned nose. Personally, I've taken it as Noir Peter not healing as cleanly due to it being Spider God stuff over Weird Radioactive Healing Factor stuff. Thoughts?
thank you so much!! i’m glad you liked it, & hope the ending was satisfying for ya <3
short answer: hot
long answer, plus a map of my idea of noir’s scars: under readmore :)
i’m not a devout spidey comic/movie fan or a doctor. this is based on conjecture and minimal research!
when i came up with my unmasked noir ideas, i wasn’t influenced by fanon—i hadn’t seen any other fan art, not even when itsv came out. but i can think of a good few reasons that scarred noir is a popular headcanon: evidence of what he’s been through makes him feel more tangible/relatable, the visual difference enhances his thematic individuality as distinct from other spider-people (especially other Peter Parkers), self-consciousness can explain why he doesn’t take off his mask in itsv even around other spiders.
all perfectly valid and interesting reasons! but the first two reasons are doylist and the last one is missing a crucial question: why does he have scars? unless a wound is severe, gets infected, or gets lucky, it won’t usually scar. facial injuries especially need to be really bad to leave a mark. and of course most if not all other spider-people have the healing factor. so what gives??
i like the spider god’s curse influences healing factor idea; it opens up some nice angsty possibilities regarding an inability to Be “Fixed;” no matter how much he tries, he can’t erase/forget what’s happened to him. but i also enjoy the bandaging someone up after a fight genre of fic, and am annoyingly pedantic, so my personal working theory is that the healing factor is not a doctor with ten plus years of experience and an accurate understanding of human anatomy. when a bone really badly breaks, it has to be reset or it’ll heal wrong. to me, the healing factor doesn’t know what ‘right’ is, only ‘fast’ and ‘effective.’ it’s an accelerant, not a substitute for medicine.
so let’s establish the baseline. modern spideys either receive modern medical attention or the injury is superficial enough that they don’t require it. even poverty-stricken peter parkers get rushed to the hospital, because fictional doctors Don’t Care About The Money and/or peter is dolled up in spider gear and who’s going to ignore a visibly beat-up celebrity hero?? plus i honestly believed peter b’s nose was just genetics or smthn. my nose is misaligned and it’s never been broken to my knowledge
to compare, noir lives in 1933 and, far as i can tell, doesn’t rlly garner the same fame and respect from the public as modern spideys do. in the 30s, medicine was meh (they had x-rays but didn’t rlly consider radiation much of a threat, penicillin was still in its infancy, polio was a huge threat, etc) but was also, more importantly, far too expensive for most people suffering during the Great Depression. whatever treatment noir receives after a fight, if any, would look way different from ours. that means his healing factor, which can’t differentiate scars from normal skin or a misaligned bone from a whole one, would be inefficiently assisted or left alone. it would leave its history behind.
on the infectious disease side of things, it’s probably much easier for even noir to recover from less physical ailments like the flu and pneumonia—spider healing factor likely remembers and codes for immunity better than regular immune systems—but without modern drug therapies he’d still be worse for wear, ie internal scarring. mans would have a shorter-than-average parker lifespan if not for the pseudo-immortality of the Spider God
anyway. all this to say, here’s my personal map of parker’s scars. crop tank and daisy dukes to keep tumblr off my ass <3
(tbh this is more for my reference than anyone else’s, i’m sick of looking through my art of Just His Forearms to keep my details consistent, but maybe someone will find it interesting lol)
#spider man: into the spiderverse#spider noir#peter parker#fan theory#also only kind of#general medical history for the 30s is weirdly hard to pin down#half the sources were locked under subscription and the other half were frustratingly vague#but i did my best 👍👍👍#it’s a lot more like deadpool’s healing than traditional spidey healing#he can’t regrow a limb tho lol#the 70s were much better for medical breakthroughs like the mri#and hobie has a community that loves and supports him so he probably doesn’t scar often#but noir is mostly alone. aside from aunt may and a couple of Not Doctor friends..#well. y’know#anyway thanks for the interest!!! i love it when peopel give me the opportunity to be overly scrupulous about things that dont matter

(Ask 1 of 2)
A combination of my thoughts on chapter 34 and 33! To start with, and as odd as it sounds, I’m glad to know that Jimin is collecting girls directly from a mortician and not killing them himself…or at least I hope that’s the case and not simply a lie he told his brothers so they wouldn’t question him further.
You know something I find strange? The way Y/n is so curious about the other brothers but never fully utilizes Hoseok as a source of info. From what we’ve seen so far he’s been pretty honest about answering any questions she has, as long as it doesn’t hit too close (ie. his parents, his ex-lover). But if she really wanted to know more about Namjoon or even his role in the family business, a simple question to Hoseok (or even Yoongi, and initially even Jimin) would go a long way, rather than blindly believing in what she’s been told the first time. She should be smarter about the alliances she’s making in the Bangtan household because it’s clear something is amiss and not everyone is who they claim to be.
I also find it funny how y/n has placed an insurmountable amount of trust on Namjoon despite several red flags manifesting in light of of 1.) Yoongi’s warning. From the last chapter she herself admitted: “Jimin really fucked you up mentally…now you know why Namjoon warned you about him. When he told you it was best that you avoid him. Your want to see the good in people screwed you over. You think you should trust people less.” Y/n should really take her own advice, no? I still find it extremely weird how Namjoon practically walked in, in the middle of their (pretty hot) blow job session in the last chapter. He himself had to have known what was taking place behind closed door as a result of Jimin’s spit debacle.
— cloudy anon ☁️
Jimin is definitely collecting his girls from a mortician don't worry 😂 Knowing this does bring a bit of peace.
Y/N is way too naïve and trusting. It's what helped get her into the mess with Hoseok in the first place. Yoongi alone is someone she can possibly fully trust (not just Namjoon). She lets her dislike of being with Hoseok get to her but he's proven that whatever she has questions about he'd be willing to answer. She just can't stand him is all. With Yoongi she's too nervous to bother him. They did have that heart to heart talk through text but she doesn't want to push it and possibly annoy him. She feels like with Namjoon it's enough.
She really should learn to take her own advice but because of blind judgment she's relying on Namjoon a little too much. And oh Namjoon definitely knew what was going on behind that door. Question is why would he be so cool and nonchalant about it? 🤔 He cares for Y/N and has interest in her. One could say it's because he doesn't care. Another could say he was hurt by it but he's trying to mask it. And if he doesn't care then why? Is it because he doesn't mind it or is there something more to this?

I don’t want to hijack OP’s post so I’m doing the screenshot thing:
So I tagged this #lines said by the master
But actually maybe I’m not just being funny here. I don’t know if it would actually have worked irl but I think maybe that could’ve been an interesting running thing with Dhawan!Master, to further our whole ‘meta meta’ thing.
He’s got a handheld video camera, and he’s recording everything.
At its beginning/basic level this is like a vlog. He’s using this to ensure there’s a record of things, going with the other subtexts and the notebooks and the memory wipes etc. If we’re planning this from the beginning, maybe tie it in or at least mirror it with Ryan’s - perhaps you see what you will later realise is the Master’s YouTube channel recommended in the sidebar. Look at how gorgeous and camp his ‘professor’ look is, he’s the Master - make him an influencer, a streamer, a conspiracy-theory-diving YouTuber, maybe that has almost no direct relation to the plot it’s just a thing that exists in that way Chibs likes, you can see his filming rig in Spyfall etc. All this cyber computer stuff, tie it in.
But with O specifically — and what we’ll see later from Dhawan!Master come the finale — he’s also an amateur Attenborough in his hidden spot in the Outback. Making documentaries of new species, under-researched species, species on the verge of extinction…
I don’t know if anyone’s convinced about the idea of Tecteun masking the truth behind the Gallifrey Is In Ireland metaphor, but now whether you implicitly or explicitly say it’s him doing it, we know he is a Film Maker. (And still wants to explain his subtexts, do you get it Doctor? He’s being very clever if you’d actually pay attention). Because she thinks he’s being the Film Maker but she doesn’t realise they’re both being written and directed by the True Creator out there, that’s set their lives out time and again. But her old video tapes are stored, and his are just carelessly taped over so as to not waste film. Something something lost episodes of Doctor Who.
Jeff the Master — mirror or played straight — from the storage place, not just hoarding but also looks like amateur filming sets, equipment etc. with bonus of one that looks kinda camgirl-ish with a cat ear headband carelessly left on the floor.
Then by the time we’re back to the finale, he is fictionalising things more, his always wonky lines between real and unreal blurring, no no, it’s time for a new actor to take the role, if this is her show, then he’s Recasting. ‘Everyone watching?’
And am I RTD level of goof to have us quickly re-show an intro part way through the episode to introduce Master Who ie. a classic-style intro with Dhawan!Master’s face, his name as the Doctor in the titles and a remixed theme? I might be. I’m ashamed to say I might be.
(The irony that the Master as ‘influencer’ probably did have people who cared about him, and he was incapable of recognising that.)
We have the theme of the Division as a conspiracy theory - but a conspiracy theory that’s true. Which meets the conspiracy theory that your reality is fictional. But of course we know that the Master is, again, sort of right on that one too.
#i also worry that#i might be rusty and tempt fatey enough#to have called the episode#‘the end of dr. who’#which is what he tells 13 he’s calling the title of ‘her final episode’

T, R, N and P with Diluc please?
the uncrowned king of mondstadt, diluc ragnvindr.
yandere alphabet via dear-yandere! revisions i made are flaky so. my bad wwwww
cw: dark content, physical abuse, kidnapping, confinement, claustrophobia, extremely unhealthy relationship.
Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?
Just because Diluc may be attending to business elsewhere, does not mean you are free from his heady grasp. Distant yet coddling; his attentiveness is a curse just as much as it can be a blessing. You’re never without security, that much is true. Dawn Winery is his eyes and ears, every single servant wrapped around his finger, wrapping around and constricting you. Self isolation could never be a possibility, not when Adelinde ushers you out of bed without a minute left to spare, always in such a hurry, as if wallowing in utter boredom for days on end is anything of importance. From the very beginning, Diluc had made it a point to ensure your physical health was a top priority to those surrounding you; strict itineraries have maids silently mourning over their packed workload. A plethora of duties— take you on brief walks outside the winery, never longer than 15 minutes, feed and serve meals delicately planned and catered to your health, eyes and ears constantly watching, watching, watching. They keep you like a dog on a leash, no matter how pampered. They do so dutifully. They must. Who could possibly decline such a hefty pay at the expense of silence?
It would be a blatant lie to say your physical health had declined any whilst under his... care, however, the same cannot be said for your mental well being. He can’t, despite how much he hates his inability to do so, prevent your tears. And by the archons, do you cry. Diluc is unable to approach you some days, those days when the illusion of normalcy and domestic living he works so hard to put up simply melts away, when you can do little more than curl in on yourself and wretch into your silk sheets with a litany of tears flush in your eyes. He wills himself to allow you the mercy of a few hours alone, albeit with check ups and that blatant discomfort of his when you wail at the slightest touch to your shoulder. Of course, it’s a different case entirely when such cries are symptom of punishment— whereas Diluc will weakly attempt to comfort you with softened eyes when you work yourself up, flaky and visibly uncomfortable, his resolution is unflinching and unwavering should you choose to act out of turn. Wail, sob, beg and beg for mercy, for forgiveness, his mask of nonchalance will stay firm.
Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?
No. Diluc is understanding that the situation he has thrust you into may not be ideal, he anticipates a lack of reciprocation and overall resistance, but he feels absolutely no guilt. In his eyes, this is for the best, the world is much too cruel— who better than him to make that judgement for you? Even if you do prove yourself to be capable of taking care of yourself, (with Diluc himself to measure up to) this Darknight Hero will find every minute, minuscule little thing to prove you otherwise. Just about every one of your shortcomings Diluc will try and use to his advantage, to put himself in a better light. Who else is as capable as he is, who else can prove themselves worthy of your companionship, your devotion, in the ways that he has? The longer you stay in his grasp, not that the possibility of leaving will come otherwise, the more difficult it becomes to prove him wrong. He feeds you with the utmost care, keeps you healthy, entertains you should you need conversation or otherwise, and provides, provides, provides. There may be a lack of freedom on your end, but really, do you have much room to complain? Without him, you may very well be dead. He ensures that point is driven straight to your heart, however many times is necessary until you grow compliant.
His will and rationality is fully reasonable, in his mind, hence why his wishes to keep you by his side shall forever remain solid. Perhaps it is the idea of you keeping close to him that entraptures Diluc so entirely, for he is a distant admirer. He would be contented growing old and without your touch, merely sharing your company for as long as life allows. All the same, he wishes to swallow you whole, skin, blood, guts and tears, if only to keep you with him. It is selfish, but he tells himself that is something of which he is deserving. He must.
Naughty: How would they punish their darling?
Diluc is nothing if not dedicated to his goals, a driven man in everything he sets his mind to. In order to maintain the position he thrives in, he is forever alert, forever adapting, prepared for any strenuous situation thrown his way. Should you push past a line you are never meant to cross, jab at him a tad too harshly, well... it’s not as if he gives no thought as to how to keep you in line. Rarely are you knowing enough of his inner workings to be able to push him past the point of no return, a point where even you, his dearest, are not spared from his wrath. Emphasis on rare, for he is wholly tolerant and gentle with you, to an extent. Any person has a breaking point, and Diluc, despite his detached disposition and stoic attitude, can only withstand so much. He bottles up so much to remain composed, after all. When he snaps, he is unable to hold himself back any longer.
He is not one to take pleasure from the suffering of others. Lest they truly deserve it, is what he’ll tell himself, to at the very least maintain the illusion of normalcy. Sway not from the path of righteousness, forget not the splendor of dawn. His mind is able to concoct the most horrific scenarios he could possibly put you through, for he does the same with his enemies. In a way, when you act out of turn, an instinctual part of him, cultivated after years spent at the whims of the dangerous and unknown, sees you as just that— an enemy. He doesn’t often choose the more unsavory methods to keeping you in line, ie: beating or threatening you with his vision, further keeping true to said threats should you continue. Diluc is wholly capable of restraining the urge to simply slap the snark off of your face (he had done so regardless, once or twice), and much prefers isolating you on his own terms, away from everyone and everything, even himself. It’s a small room, not even on par with that of your shared bedroom, much more similar to a closet or crawlspace.
A room, but a cage all the same. Splintered wood floors, dank cobblestone surrounds you and few cracks in the stone leaves room for bugs of all nature to crawl through, allows the elements to rain hell upon you should you end up locked up during the harsher months. A lone maid, not even Adelinde, the head, attends to you, sparing meek glances should you call out when she gently places a meal of one roll, a piece of meat, and a few shoddily cut slabs of potato. No begging and weeping and screaming you may do will soften Diluc into coming back for you- again, his resolve is akin to that of steel, his will forever unyielding. He decides when you are thoroughly broken in, and when it is time to hold you in kind, he shines through like that of The Darknight Hero the people proclaim him to be. In the end, what is necessary is that he shows you how much better off you are when with him. He’s much too possessive and to a point, coddling, to ever consider discarding you into the wild and at the whims of hilichurl camps and abyss mages alike.
His hold is firm and grounding. Had he always been able to hold you with such ease? Had he ever truly held you in kind, as he does now? He’s warm. A familiar, comforting scent of smoke and acidic wine fills your senses and him, oh, him. He had left you, left you alone, all alone, in that room, not even a room, all alone, and yet you can do little more than gag and writhe and latch onto him with pleas of his name whispered hoarsely— ‘Diluc, Diluc, Diluc’. A cry of your savior.
He can’t look at you, won’t look at you. Won’t give you the mercy, but he couldn’t be angry. Not anymore. He holds you tighter and so flush to himself, with a ferocity narly shown to anyone but you, not in kind, not with this passion. You smell of dust, a husk of yourself. Faintly of his sheets, faintly of iron, of vomit, of filth.
Fresh memories of your betrayal burn hot in his mind. He’s contradicting himself. He cannot relent. It comes out as a whisper, barely even heard to himself, and he curses his very soul the moment it passes his lips.
“Strive to do better. Lest you want your time there to increase tenfold.”
Patience: How patient are they with their darling?
He can bear with defiance and unwillingness on your part, to an extent. He can anticipate as much, for he is not delusional enough to fool himself into thinking your relationship is even somewhat typical to that of a normal couple, no matter how much he wishes that to be the case. No, for the initial few weeks of your captivity (he’s always gotten so mad when you refer to him as such, a captor) Diluc allows you to lash and sob and attempt to reason with him, attempt to soften him, attempt to hurt him. He’ll allow you to do so, but he himself remains impenetrable, unblinking, almost uncaring. He is prepared for about anything and everything, always expecting the worse possibilities as to save himself from further harm. For you, as well, he is constantly anticipating and observing. In hidden, minute little ways. It may even come as a shame to him if the fact that he enforces the maids to note down your every little move ever reaches your ears.
All in all, Diluc’s complete preparation for anything and everything you may throw his way makes him extremely patient, for better or for worse. Difficult to crack, impenetrable, almost— on one hand, the distance he keeps from you to accommodate for your lack of reciprocation may come as a blessing, but it makes it all too difficult to try and pester him into letting you go, to try and understand his goals and motivations in keeping you locked right away. Your complacency is inevitable, sooner or later, Diluc will begin approaching and weaseling his way into your routine in the smallest of ways, gradually and unconsciously causing you to grow fonder of his presence. It’s a slow process, one he had planned from the very moment his wishes of a domestic life with you grew much too much to handle. He loves you completely, yearns for your love, and for it, he will wait as long as necessary.
Blazing red eyes leer down upon you, your shame increasing tenfold for each second that passes subjected to that gaze of his. A fit of expaseration, you will admit, had sent the cutlery dear Hillie had so delicately prepared flying off of the white tablecloth and onto the hardwood floors, further staining the expensive rugs with wines and crumbs and oils from his favorite meal, a concoction of pasta and steak and cheese. He had prepared yours alongside with it, striking tonight as a tad more special than the rest. You didn’t blame yourself for what you did, not when he had proposed something as outlandish as marriage.
He keeps silent, leaning back in his seat, his throne, as if he were a king observing a mere peasant begging for mercy— quite frankly, you should be. But perhaps tonight he will be more lenient, you ponder, averting your gaze to the flickering embers sparking from the fireplace beside you.
He sighs, suddenly, worn and thoroughly put out by your antics, further embarrassing you by his facade of nonchalance. No, you could tell from the way his leather gloves creaked from gripping himself too hard, he was barely concealing his own anger.
“You hardly let me finish my scentence. Come, we’ll continue this conversation upstairs.”

been thinking about the really weird dynamics of the Honda family
and the ways they parallel with the Souma family.
Tohru's relationship with Grandpa Honda has always been really inscrutable to me. It seems like Kyouko liked him quite a lot, and the feeling was mutual, so their relationship ought to be close, right? But despite relying on Grandpa around the time of Katsuya's funeral, I get the impression that Kyouko and Grandpa aren't very close after that? He takes Tohru in after Kyouko's funeral, but doesn't provide a place for her to stay during the renovations, and they don't seem to keep in touch.
I figured this was for the convenience of the plot. If Tohru was close with her grandpa, then she wouldn't have no family, no one left, after her mom died. If Tohru had somewhere else to go, it wouldn't be so vital that she be allowed to keep living in the Souma house.
I've been thinking about Shiki, though, and about Akito and Shigure as parents within the Souma estate, and I'm wondering now if this wasn't actually a parallel playing out in brilliant Takaya fashion.
Starting with a recap, because a summary of info is always useful to me:
Kyouko grows up in a family that is very much about Keeping Up Appearances and Knowing Your Place. Her dad is verbally and emotionally abusive and isn't above slapping people either. Her mother isn't affectionate and doesn't protect her, probably because she's primarily concerned with protecting herself from the fallout when anything sets off her abusive husband. Kyouko has never had her emotional needs met and she's never been socialized to see others as real people with real feelings. Before even 7th grade she's become part of the gang scene in a cry for help and attention, and because these are the only people she can kind of understand. Her father has told her she's kicked out of the house at least once prior before he finally makes good on it and disinherits her at the end of 9th grade.
Katsuya and his younger sister grow up in a family that is also very much about Traditional Values and Keeping Up Appearances. Grandpa Honda is a teacher, and he puts a big emphasis on Proper Manners (and probably also other things like Good Grades, Fitting In, and Knowing Your Place). He's stern and pressures Katsuya to become a teacher as well. We don't know what Katsuya's mother was like, but I'm assuming she was also not particularly affectionate. It's only after her illness and passing, probably when Katsuya is somewhere around 20, that Grandpa Honda reevaluates his life and what's most important to him.
From a young age, Katsuya flew under the radar by heavily masking--ie, he made a cardboard cutout of what society expected him to be, so Polite, Quiet, Respectable, Studying To Become A Teacher, while underneath it all being filled with apathy, resentment, and loneliness. His moral compass is deeply skewed--see his teasing of people, his attitude of looking down on people, his bragging admittance to using his father's influence to get away with things, his creepy expressions that are identical to those of The Root Of All Evil (ie, Shigure). He has no real interpersonal relationships--family, friend, or romantic. He's a 23 year old TA who is fixated on and marries a 15 year old girl because she's the first person he ever recognized as human--he saw her in the middle of a violent meltdown and it was the first time he was ever really struck by the realization that someone else might feel the same feelings he does.
(Which, in addition to the dubious legality and widely-regarded ickiness, is just downright pathetic. I'm sorry, but it's true. Fruits Basket itself backs me up.)
The first parallel that jumps out at me is between the stories of Kyouko and Katsuya, and Ren and Akira:
Ren is an Outsider. We don't know what her family life was before joining the Souma clan, but based on everything about her I feel it's safe to assume it was also abusive. A large percentage of the Souma family is against the marriage, but Akira is adamant because Ren is the first person he's ever connected with. Similarly, the Honda family (save Grandpa) disapproves of Kyouko and she remains forever an outsider to them.
In Kyouko's case, Katsuya is able to ditch his family and start fresh with Kyouko. Ren, on the other hand, has to live within the toxic Souma family to be with Akira. Both husbands die, leaving a grieving widow and child behind. Kyouko treasures her daughter and finds a new reason to live in Tohru, away from the rest of the Honda family; Ren, already jealous of Akito for getting in the way of her relationship with her husband (and not dealing well with being pulled even further into the Souma family bullshit with all this curse stuff), and trapped within the toxic Souma family with no one on her side, chooses to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.
The thing I've been thinking about most is the parallels between Tohru and the Honda family and Shiki and the Souma family:
As I said before, Tohru's relationship with Grandpa Honda is very strange. It's not just me--Yuki and Kyou make comments to this effect also, I'm pretty sure. But I think I can finally make sense of it now, if I think of it in light of Shiki.
I think there are a couple chapters of FBA out there that I haven't read (the one with Akito, and were there other chapters beyond volume 3?), but Mutsuki implies--and I think we should take this at face value--that Akito and Shigure hope that Shiki will leave the Souma family. They are not kicking their child out. They want this as loving parents, who have done their best to raise their child in a good home in the midst of a very toxic environment. I like to think they will do a good job of explaining this to Shiki, explicitly and clearly. Akito could have walked away from the Souma family, but she chose to stay because she had a hand in perpetuating the toxicity and generational abuse in the Souma family and she is taking responsibility for trying to end the cycle. She has finally stepped up as the head of the family. She could have walked away, but she didn't.
Shiki had no hand in making the Souma family what it is. Shiki is not obligated in any way to put up with that bullshit. Shiki can and should walk away from that toxic environment, go somewhere new, and be happy. He and his parents and all his non-toxic relatives can visit and call each other and still maintain relationships, but in healthier places, as everyone learned to do at the end of Fruits Basket.
This, I believe, is what Grandpa is also doing for Tohru. He's just less explicit and messes it up at first.
I don't know exactly why we don't see more of Grandpa's relationship with Kyouko and Tohru after Katsuya's death. Is it because Tohru, as the narrator, is prioritizing Only Me And My Mom stories? Is it because Kyouko didn't want to be a burden (is that part of where Tohru absorbed it)? Is it because Kyouko couldn't maintain a good relationship with Grandpa with the Honda Family Toxicity in the background?
The Honda family toxicity shows up in full force again when Kyouko dies. Tohru is a riceball that doesn't belong in the Honda family fruits basket. No one, save Grandpa, will take her in.
And then he invites his daughter's family, which he knows is toxic and will abuse Tohru, in to live with the two of them.
I don't know who came up with the idea--if it's Grandpa, that's a bit cold, as he should be caring for Tohru. If it's his daughter ("Dad, you're getting older, you should be living with us so we can take care of you") that does make sense, both as a reasonable social expectation (which dad raised her to adhere to) and as a power move (the Outsider shouldn't be getting so cozy with dad, and dad's inheritance, without supervision). I'm leaning towards the daughter, as I don't think the family combining was intended to get Tohru to leave. I think the remodel, though, was something Grandpa Honda saw as a good opportunity to convince Tohru to leave the Hondas.
I think "I'm having the house remodeled and I'm staying with my daughter, but you weren't invited, I could pull my weight or maybe you could find your own accommodations with a friend?" was intended to give Tohru permission to not feel obligated to the Honda family. I think it was intended to let Tohru find someplace she would actually be happy, a found family living situation where she could flourish. I think Granpda sincerely thought Tohru would move in with Hanajima, instead of into a tent, and realize that she was so much happier and fulfilled there that she never came back to the toxic Honda family and had no regrets.
Grandpa's judgment was a little iffy there but he tried.
I'm realizing that, if everyone moved into Grandpa's house because it was bigger, and it's being remodeled specifically for that purpose...the fact that Tohru is sharing a room with her cousin is very significant. Grandpa was so confident, there is no place for Tohru in that house. Tohru was never supposed to come back after the remodel.
(I don't know that much about houses so it's possible that they just didn't have room; depending on whether that's the uncle or the son, you've got to have 4 or 5 separate bedrooms, which I guess could be a lot. But this is a manga, they aren't strictly constrained to realism, and Takaya makes every damn detail count.)
Tohru isn't supposed to come back after the remodel, but she does. She does, and the family is toxic to her, and Grandpa tells her more overtly that she is not obligated to live here out of familial loyalty. If there's somewhere else Tohru is happier, even if it's a really unconventional living situation, she should feel welcome to choose that instead.
Grandpa's a parallel to Akito here. He's been becoming aware, since his wife died, that his priorities were all wrong. That he raised his children wrong. That Katsuya appeared to have no real emotions and had never connected with anyone outside of Kyouko and their daughter. (Maybe he learned to make work friends?? But I doubt it.) That his daughter is judgmental and cares more about the appearance of being proper than about not being rude.
Don't think poorly of him, Grandpa says. Deep down, they're just evil people. But Grandpa recognizes that he had a hand in creating those evil people. And instead of being like Machi's mom, who goes "well maybe I fucked up" and then throws her out of the family, Grandpa takes responsibility for the family he made. He recognizes that he raised his kids in a way that caused them to be shallow and rude and to think of people as means to an end, and he also recognizes that it would be shitty to reject his kids for turning out exactly as he raised them. He has to live with them (and his choices), he says, but Tohru doesn't.
Looking at it like that, I respect Grandpa Honda more. He seemed a bit wishy-washy before--useful for some plot and character development points, but wishy-washy all the same. But it's a tough decision, and having to prioritize people is always shitty. Grandpa not rejecting his daughter means sacrificing a stable home for Tohru. Akito staying as the head of the Souma family so she can ensure the freedom of the former Zodiac means that her child will be subjected to the same generational abuse, no matter how loving and supportive of a home life she and Shigure provide.
But they're both trying to do a right thing in a crappy situation.
And Tohru, like so many of the former Zodiac, does find happiness and fulfillment in the new family she's able to make for herself. She learns to make her world bigger, and she learns that leaving doesn't have to be the same as cutting ties. And so I'm very optimistic that Shiki will find the same.

Scattered AU Masterpost Part 2 [COMPLETE]
Due to post length limit (which is apparently a thing), this AU has been split into two parts. Find Part 1 here!

Contributions:
- Mumbo has a pet ravager miscellaneous ideas: the ravager is actually a bit small as far as ravagers go. Once Mumbo leaves to go to the hermits, he doesnt take the ravager with him, for fear the environment wouldn't be right for it. However, the ravager follows him and Iskall, startling both when it comes running up to Mumbo. The ravager does not like any of the hermits, however it doesn't attack them because it can understand that Mumbo cares about them. - anonymous
- related to scattered au and "what if this happened to old hermits too" -- python's stuck in a death loop in a bastion (his spawn is right next to a piglin brute). he has no clue what's going on but by god, does he blame zloy - Anonymous
- Consider: Etho's mask protecting him from the flowers that gave Hypno so much trouble. - @/rayveewrites
- (Scattered AU) After Etho dies accidentally at the spawn haven, his spawn takes him to Xisuma. Xisuma is clinging to life when he gets there, and Etho only has time to grab his admin's arms and promise he'll be found before Xisuma passes away. Etho and Xisuma get a few hours together to work on getting Xisuma to the surface before Etho starves to death, and he's transported somewhere else. After that Etho makes it his mission to cycle through spawns as quickly as possible to help Xisuma and anyone else who is trapped in their spawn graveyard, no matter how much his legs start to fail him from the damage starting to linger from building into the sky and leaping off to respawn over and over. - @/petrichormeraki
- Some honorable mentions from my written summary for mumbo in the au: the illigers being terrified as he keeps coming back no matter how many times they kill him; he gets adopted by evoker; he fails at evoker magic, like so bad he cant even dye a sheep; the evoker being so done with mumbo that they beg the vex to give him magic; mumbo summoning scar when the vex get annoyed at how often he summons them, mumbo eventually summoning bdubs after scar's contract to mumbo runs out.... and so much more - @/therainofsweetmelody
- Moobloom!Hypno attracts bees - @/itsabork
- Not too long into his messenger journey, etho remembers what had happened to impulse by the time he, zed and tango had found him, which inspires him to try and die in a different way each time he sets off to find another hermit, partly to avoid becoming resiliant to certain death methods and partly for the challenge - Anonymous
- Because Doc hasn't died his death messages haven't been showing up in the chat. The other hermits don't know if he's even in the same world as them. - Anonymous
- (Scattered AU) More on the Mumbo accidentally summoning Scar thing; the summoning has "opened" the chat for them, but only between Mumbo and Scar. All evokers can call on their Vex, after all, so why not an evoker in more-or-less training? - @/petrichormeraki
- (alternate headcanon) There's so much discussion in the server, I wouldn't know where to start restating. However, I wanna mention one thing: scar spawning in xisuma's first spawn, deep in a geode down under ground. Being trapped in an endless death loop due to the warden lurking just outside the geode, forcing scar into the same loop xisuma had been trapped in so long ago. Not only does he have to deal with the separation from bdubs once they got out of the end, now he seemingly cant escape the warden's clutches.... - @/therainofsweetmelody
- Admins log who knows how long: I've finally managed to get my helmet some repairs with this I could get some plugins to start working hopefully. Considering the situation going on, I better not have derped to hard on this, not now. - Anonymous (singleplayer sleep now works)
- (Scattered AU) Because the code is glitchy for mob hermita, Jevin would spilt when injured too much. So while X and Jevin are trying to get to the surface, they encounter a dungeon or a mineshaft and Jevin gets fatally injured. X starts freaking out cause he doesent want to be alone again and he cant bear to watch Jevin die infront of him and risk getting lost and seperated and Jevin just splits, theres two Jevins now and X doesent know what to think of it.While there are two Jevins, their consienceness is split between the two and his motor skills are more sloppy and X notices and realises that Jevin loses more of himself the more he splits. So while he has a lower chance of losing Jevin to an unfortunate accident, Jevin slowly reverts to a slime the more be splits and the more be spends time as multiple entities. X worries that if Jevin splits for too long or too much, he might lose Jevin - @/itsabork
- The only portal to get out of Hels and into the overworld is an incredibly complex vault boarder line weapon built by Hels Doc and Hels Mumbo and the location of the portal is known only to a few and it changes every season. Now cue Helsknight and Wels sneaking all around Hels while trying to look for this basically impossible to find and get into way home. - anonymous
- It takes a while, but eventually those outside of hermitcraft start wondering why all the hermits collectively disappeared. Sure, they started a new world, and sure they’re usually more secluded, but it’s been months. Skizz wonders why he hasn’t heard from Impulse in a while. All the legates wonder where Python went. Everyone’s confused when none of the hermits turn up to the next MCC. Things get weirder when none of them sign up for the one after. -🟣
- Ok to add on to the daisy ravenger post, on his way to 0,0 Mumbo found spawn spawn, slo when he arrived everyone had him at sword point, expecting angry illiger noises they were surprised when they herd "GUYS IT'S ME!!" - Anonymous
(Note: Hermits at the haven currently include Joe, Beef, Hypno, Scar, Bdubs, TFC, Mumbo, and Iskall, in order of arrival. XB is en route, and Etho was there briefly before dying and respawning elsewhere.)
- Pix and Zloy would be the first to notice the hermits' absence. After all, they do a weekly show about them. Maybe they just decided to have a few weeks of downtime before moving to the next Season? Though surely it wouldn't take this long... - @/rayveewrites
- because im a legacy sucker, the legates would likely be the first to notice the hermits' disappearance. between zloy being on the server, skizz being part of zits and very close to impulse, pearl knowing a few hermits, plus python literally disappearing. what they'd do about it? no idea.to keep it more on the topic of hermits though, don't think about how devastated skizz would be to find out what impulse went through. don't think about it :) - anonymous
- Hello I have produced thoughts! I don’t have room for both so I’m sending 2 asks -when Iskall arrives at the mansion all of the illagers are wary; if one of mumbo’s friends are here then he must be leaving soon. Despite their initial feelings they’ve come to care about this idiot that wandered into their house, and they’re fully aware he has no survival instincts whatsoever, so when he does end up leaving they send a ravager to keep him (and his friends, they suppose) safe -@/haworthiaace
- so like... hear me out ok what if the reason the whole world is corrupting and weird and why a lot of people are like slowly turning into mobs is because maybe this is the way the game and the mobs are turning on the hermits for like making really inhumane farms or something like that and the mobs somehow messed with the code of the world to get revenge - anonymous
- Scattered AU!! Biffa spawned very concerned and on a beach. Where is he? How did he get here? Is he alone? Well one of his questions was answered quickly as he heard a constant buzzing sound come from his communicator, upon opening it he saw probably millions of death messages. He quickly realised this was probably supposed to be a new season of hermitcraft, but he didn't really have time to think about it, night was quickly approaching and he could already see drowned swimming towards him. - Anonymous
- How many times did X die to that Warden? Maybe he develops something to counteract the Warden’s sensors, or that his heartbeat slowed down to the point that his suit can barely pick it up (therefor making it harder for the Warden to track Xisuma down). -🦊
- Etho tried his best to fight the system and not get any new features from all his deaths. But, the game has its ways. Slowly, after every death he has, the less alive he comes back. (Undead!Etho, could be ghost, zombie variant, or skeleton variant) -@/harley-the-pancake
- Other hybrid characteristics Hypno gets of the moonbloom: His ears turn into golden cows ones, the horns grow in, he gets a tail, and little flowers grow though his hair and wrap around his horns. He can also grow flowers around him as long as he has dirt, but thankfully they dont do anything beyond smelling a lot stronger and smelling very nice (and maybe a bit of evoking certain reactions, but nothing beyond what normal flowers can do, ie lavender being calming, just a bit more intense) - anonymous
- Beetlejhost ended up in the world along with the hermits, spawning as if summoned: in the middle of a circle of beehives. His spawn is in the birch forest near the s8 spawn, and his presence spooks anyone who stumbles across him. He blends in concerningly well with the black and white of the forest. Beef feels like hes being watched whenever he goes in the birch forest to get supplies, but joe never notices a thing. He teases the hybrids about their changes, leading him to get swiftly decked- - @/therainofsweetmelody
- beetlejhost spawns in a circle of beehives in the birch forest near spawn. he thinks he's invis, in reality it's just his stripes making him blend into the birch trees. he can't leave the circle of bees, ah how wonderful it is to bee bee-tlejhost - @/justme123abz
- Beetlejhost doesn't mean to be mean, really, he just has really, really bad timing. This includes seeing a pollen-stained Hypno and, with his gravelly voice, immediately say "Woah! Someone had some fun in the sun! Tell me, did you spend a week rolling in dandilions or do you just like the color yellow?" This does not go over well - Anonymous
- Speaking of hybrids, Xisuma spawned in a Wardens den right? Well unlike the other hybrids, Xisuma has been changing too but its been slow. Every time he spawned back in that place, on the warped ground, he's changed. He doenst notice the dark starts to seem less dark, until noises get louder, until he's more sentive to it then he noticed, he gets stronger and breaking though the stone with his bare hands seems a bit easier, its not until he finds Jevin and he points out the glowing horns (1)peaking from his temples when his hair is pulled back hastily that he realizes that something has gone horribly wrong with him. Thankfully Jevin helps ground him before he can freak out, so he shelves it for later, once they're out of this cave. The warden that once was down by his spawn is no longer there btw, disappeared. The horns grow slowly, and soon glowing vein like markings appear as well. (2) - Anonymous
- Okay, Xisuma, we established he spawned in the deep dark, right? As time goes on he adapts to the dark. The skulk sensors grow on him. However as time goes on, they not only grow on him, but become a part of him. His footsteps quiet to near silence, and he can feel sounds. He certainly isn't how he was when he entered, at first glance he might even be mistaken for a warden. - Anonymous
- Tango is the only hermit other than Mumbo Daisy kind of likes. Tango thinks Daisy is absolutely adorable, and Daisy does like the positive attention(and the treats). - Anonymous
- When tango meets mumbo’s pet ravager he loses his mind, he tried so hard to get the decked out ravagers to like him and then mumbo just waltzes in riding on one of the things! He ends up hanging around her a lot and eventually forms some sort of relationship, although not as close as he would like (he also gets a little more sympathetic once he sees the effects the evokers had on mumbo, he figures the guy earned a pet ravager) - @/haworthiaace
(Hermits now at the spawn haven, in order of arrival: Joe, Beef, Hypno, Scar, Bdubs, TFC, Mumbo, Iskall, Tango, Impulse, Zedaph. XB is en route, Wels and Hels are traveling through Hels to get there, Ren, Doc, and Grian are attempting to get there but their success has been limited so far)
- Scattered!AU: Idea that Ex is the ONLY one that knows what is going on and how to fix it perhaps (maybe 'cause of having been banished to the void for so long)? That's why he's trying to find X. - Anonymous
- Admins log: day 1006: Me and Jevin finally see sunlight, and I've managed to get the clock function on my helmet working, finally. As we're on our way to the surface, I only hope that I can find someone or something to help guide us to where we need to go, but unfortunately I've lost all signal to chat, and I think we're next to a woodland mansion. I think I've derped up this time.
- Dear Xisuma, if you see this message then the log is working, also fixed the clock in your helmet it's been 50 days, not 1005. I was about to leave with Iskall when I noticed you and Jevin outside with a few, erm, "buddies" of mine you two where passed out and I managed to stop them from killing you with Daisy, my pet ravenger. I'll explain everything later and spawns in the village are working, finally. I recommend not moving much and work on the data packs for a bit before you do anything elseExplanation log to Xisuma part 2: Sorry if the last one got cut off abruptly, apparently there's a limit to these messages. Any way please take care of yourself. Sincerely, your pal Mumbo Jumbo
- Admins log, day 51: I first want to say thank you Mumbo for bringing me up to speed and explaining why and how me and Jevin are here, next I want to say that these logs may slow down for a bit, I'll be working on some maintenance for some packs. I still don't know why this is happening, I now hope this is a wicked nightmare and not our reality. Hang on I see something over there it looks like, wait let me ju- Voice logs are off for the moment.
- all one anon
- mooblooms spread the flowers that enraptured hypno. now that hypno is a moobloom hybrid, he can make people "hypnotizd"! he doesnt like to, but if the spawn ever gets attacked, the hermits are winning easily. - anonymous
- I like to think that at some point when there's a significant number of healthy hermits at 0,0 they start group searches to find the rest of hermits - anonymous
- After awhile, if they can't change the spawn of everyone, they begin securing all the spawn points to everyone, so if their bed is ever destroyed in the future, they won't end up in a death loop again. They secure the death loop spawn points first. - @/ciaravixen
- For undead Etho: I know that ghasts aren't technically undead mobs, but they're basically ghosts and that's what I feel etho is becoming? He's leaving his mortality behind bit by bit as he ceases to care about death and starts to use it as a tool instead. One day he'll respawn without a body at all - @/draconic-dreams
- This is just a thought. Sand cant be good for Iskall's mechanical parts, and its not like he has anything to fix it. Does he have to wait to find doc to be able to have hope of fixing himself? - anonymous
- Jellie had spawned in the village that cub and xb had come across, so when xb heads to 0,0 he takes her with him (she'd be safer in the overworld than in the end, after all). Its quite a long journey, and she makes for good company. -@/supertiny-tins
- Grian, Doc, and Ren fianlly start heading out to 0,0. Its a long journey, they decide in the end to leave their beds behind at the cabin in case any of them die so none of them end back at their orginal spawns. they would of just made new beds every time but the lack of suplies and resources near by has been low oddly enough. Doc manages to push aside most of his fears to help Grian and Ren, who are weaker, but he keeps his distance whenever he can. They make many hastily built huts as they go 1most nights are spent sleeping on hard ground, later straight up blocks of wool they find but not beds, just wool is better then ground, and it doesn't do the weaker hermits any favors but it works. There are many close calls, but they manage to avoid death, mostly due to Doc. Along the way they start to find signs of other players, coble in places it shouldn't, a rare torch, half mined trees, but no hermits. They still have a way to go, but they're getting closer to the others and safety. 2 - anonymous
- Etho once found himself spawning in the middle of an ocean with nothing and no one in sight except of course... A faint trail of lights dancing beneath the waves... Pulsing and glimmering, almost in a rhythm, something so fascinating, so... So... He was meant to be doing something...? It was... Important... At least... It might have been... It's all.. Kinda hazy... It couldn't have been more important than the lights, nothing was more important than the lights... They were so beautiful... He could watch them all day... Etho never noticed how he slipped beneath the waves, nor how the glow squid's glittering eyes had turned upon him, coiling a tentacle around his waist as it dragged its prey deep into the depths, his eyes hazed with green, he never even noticed his lungs burning for air.And he never remembered drowning after he respawned. - anonymous
- Impulse actually punches through the Nether roof so they can traverse more safely to coordinates given to them by Etho. They leave trails of blocks so they can make their way back, of course. - @/rayveewrites
(Evil X is now hiding out in a cave near spawn)
- Shattered!AU: I see everyone's Warden!Xisuma heacannons and I give you Axolotl!Xisuma. Think about it he's been hanging around with them and Jevin in the lush caves so maybe he's becoming more like them. (Frills, a more pink-ish tint to his skin, the ability to breathe underwater, etc.) :D (Is this because the thought of him having Warden traits is terrifying to me? Maybe. Is it because I think he deserves to become something not scary after his whole ordeal in the Deep Dark? Yes.) - anonymous
- Ever since getting out of the loop, Impulse has had a horrible inner conflict between his guardian side being instinctually drawn to the water, and his human brain being deeply terrified of ever being submerged again. - @/asexualbert
- Because I absolutely adore Daisy, more headcannons for Daisy.Daisy will occasionally just pick Mumbo up gently with her horns when she thinks she isn't getting enough attention. Daisy has a bell collar, because she kept scaring hermits by following Mumbo silently. Daisy is more okay with Iskall than most other hermits, though still doesn't really like him. - anonymous
- Though I'm a sucker for angst, what if Impulse was saved by a dolphin pod or something instead of transforming into a hybrid (or after transforming if Guardian!Impulse is cannon). :3 I can picture dolphins don't take kindly to the Guardian Mobs, might even find them as prey if anything since they're fish. (Guardian!Impulse wouldn't count since they're smart enough creatures to tell the difference.) - anonymous
- Prob a bit early for epilogue stuff but I like to think that, once all the glitches are fixed, that those that became hybrids and would prefer to be back to normal get changed back. - anonymous
(Shade note: Personally, I'm a sucker for stories where the characters adjust and learn to live with the unexpected changes to themselves rather than having them magically fixed, but this option is certainly still here for the people who find it appealing)
- For the scattered au, after the numerous frozen deaths Grian's gone through he starts hearing voices from the snow, even from within Ren's cabin. A snow golem forms after a wandering trader drops a pumpkin and watches from outside the cabin, deciding to guard the place after taking a liking to Grian and Ren. - anonymous
- When Etho became fully ghost, it hit hard. BeetleJhost saw this, and after a while decided to teach him how to show his form and speak. It takes a lot out of him, but it’s worth it. His friends deserve that closure. (Listen, I was expecting angst, I just wasn’t expecting that much angst.) - @/harley-the-pancake
- Mod Shade, I want you to know that angsting ghost!Etho that hard was entirely on you. I was picturing him clipping through blocks and dropping items at inconvenient points, not fading out of existence entirely. - @/draconic-dreams
- Possible explanation for everything going on in Scattered:Players were never supposed to be so powerful; in the natural state of Minecraft they're just another mob, albiet one that can craft and use any tool. But the Players weren't satisfied with that. Everyone from the admin of the smallest server to the mythological ‘dev team’ has been imposing little changes on the world since its inception, slowly tweaking it into a better environment for Player-kind.A single spawn at the world's centre. The ability of Players to chat from one end of the world to another -- even across different worlds. Even natural regeneration, an ability unique to the rarest and most powerful of mobs. As time marched on, Players not only unlocked these things but began to take them for granted, drawing far away from the behaviour of normal mobs. This became normal. Players continued to create datapacks and run commands that tweaked the very nature of the world. -@/draconic-dreams
(Shade note: Perhaps it was just a random glitch, one fundamental line of code removed to shift the balance of power. Or maybe it was orchestrated, but by who and for what purpose? Either way, it will take the Hermits a while to realize this, and even longer to fix it...if they can at all.)
- Jessasin spawned in a mesa biome, of course he's confused on how he got there and why he's in this random vanilla world and not his usual modded world, but both questions got pushed aside when the death messeges arrive. He exploared the area gathering as much recourses as he can and goes off too find someone, anyone really. - @/ghan-does-things
- hello! I discovered the scattered au literally yesterday so sorry if this is something that has already been gone over but I had an idea about bdubs, what if his constant exposure to the void and surviving on nothing but chorus fruit for who knows how long made him slightly enderman-y? 1/2 (sorry, couldn't fit the whole thing in one ask)Like nothing obvious at first, but making eye contact makes him agitated and snappy, touching water makes his skin tingle and if you look at him in the dark his eyes seem to have a very faint pink/purple glow about them? Maybe the other hermits swear he's taller than he was the last time they saw him? And the tips of his fingers are blackened, he assumes due to frostbite, but it seems to gradually be making it's way further up his hands? again sorry if this has been gone over already 2/2 - @/plantichu
- Okay so after Welsknight and Helsknight manage to get past the crazy vault door in Hels, not sure how but it probably involved a lot of cussing on Hels part and Wels saying that he never wanted to look at redstone ever again. The portal takes them to the overworld near Xisuma and Jevin. - anonymous
- (scattered au) The first set of non hermits to join this corrupt world are two strangers that apparently came from infinity's grasp. The good news they both spawned at spawn, bad news the brought the tnt duper flying machines, good news that everyone was able to calm them both down. Now the fun begins. Tldr Illmango and Methodz finally get out of the infinity portal. - anonymous
- Loving the Scattered AU. Late to the party, but was looking at the wider MC community reaction to the Hermits vanishing. Once it's clear something bad's happened, would the Legacy crew and whoever else (former Evo squad members like Martyn and Jimmy as well, if they notice Grian go dark) take steps to find out what happened? Would they go to the MCC server (it's kind of a nexus between worlds) & get Noxcrew to try "pinging" the HC server? Would X & other admins see it but be unable to respond? - @/wixelt
- I dont know if anyone has mentioned it but uhhhh, guardian xb? he was a guardian hybrid before everyone got scattered like Ren was already a wolf/dog hybrid. iirc xb spawned in a desert which would be a very interesting place for a guardian hybrid to spawn - anonymous
- Etho has been so, so desperate to avoid dying the same way twice, to stay himself. He hasn't drowned that many times, he thinks. Surely, surely he's starved more often? There's a strange feeling of deja vu hanging over him when he respawns in the ocean, though he can never understand why. Each time the squid finds him, he drowns a little slower, and each time, he glows a little stronger. And he just can't understand, almost refuses to, as he treks from biome to biome, where the small green bumps that line his arms and face came from, how his fingertips seem to almost glow when he scoops a handful of water, how long he finds himself simply staring… at the moon, at sea lanterns, at torches, at lights… He would die a different way every time. He had to. He had to stay Etho. He would not become anything else. - Anonymous
- When Mumbo comes riding into camp on Daisy, it’s easy to see Impulse is not happy about the ravager being there. That’s expected, it’s not exactly everyone’s favorite mob to see around a safe haven. But when Mumbo and Impulse make eye contact, the evoker can’t help but make a simple warding gesture his friends at the mansion taught him- it’s a reflex move. Days later, Mumbo still isn’t sure if Impulse flinched because of Daisy’s sudden growl or his ward. - @/fluffy-papaya
- (From the Discord) What happened to the world: For years, seeds and the land they built had been carefully curated by those known as players, in an effort to make it both easier and more interesting for themselves. But the land doesnt want to be controlled. Their glitched, broken world is a result of the world itself rioting against their presence. Coordinates aren't visible with the debug screen, their coms only serve the world, to tell the players what it knows. Compasses spin wildly in the overworld, for there is no "world spawn" (though coordinates are visible with one in hand. Small mercies are still given). The world resists any further changes by the simple fact it refuses to accept what a hermit communicates. Maybe it's fixable, but maybe... maybe it runs deeper than just their world. (The Legates caused a lot of damage with all those withers, after all.) - @/basaltdragon
- While Iskall is in the desert, he ends up dying quite a few times, enough to adapt, he becomes like a stray, so now, if we have skeleton Etho, we have 3 undead hermits - anonymous
- When everyone is finally gathered and they manage to come together to use all their skills, new and old, the hermits use it to flee back to Season 7. They stay there for months, mostly to heal and adjust to what happened to them. (Trauma isn't easy) Those who have friends or family off server get invited to visit, but the hermits don't leave, they nearly lost each other and they aren't willing to risk it again right now. They'll make a new season 8 at some point, the hermits are too (1/3)restless and too ingrained in their ways to completely disregard how they've always done things, but that will come when they feel better, safer, more put together, when they can finally stop sleeping in a big pile becuase they're afraid the others will disappear. They never go back to that old glitched world, the idea makes them sick, and X starts the new practice of sending in the 'Cam' and/or 'alt' accounts in first to check out the world and set up commands and plugins remotely first. (2/3) What happened before will never, ever happen again he swears it. Next time they might not be so lucky after all [if you can call them all being traumatized, many of them dying over and over again, some being permanently altered, and barely escaping lucky] (also feel free to save these asks for near the end of the au!) (3/3) - anonymous (Shade note: I personally like the idea of them fixing and learning to live in the glitched-out world, but this is another alternate ending!)
- (From the Discord) What happened to the world: Alternatively, what happened is exclusive to their world. (I don't have Dramatic Storytelling for this one, sorry) EX has ADHD to the max, and everything he does is a desperate attempt to get Noticed, to get looked up to and listened to. He's known it was "wrong" for a while, hence why he took X's name and added "Evil", but he never seriously wanted them to hurt. Just to listen to him. He'd meant to come in and fix it all and finally be a hero. He didn't realize, either through haste or inexperience, that he too would be at the mercy of what he'd done.Maybe he does, eventually, make it to where the hermits have gathered. But does he really want to admit everything? (RSD had burned him before, and if there ever was something to place the blame on his head...) - @/basaltdragon
- lasting effects of deaths
- a large amount of assorted ideas
- The bell they put on Daisy was originally of the type that are put on cats, but Grian ended up switching it out with a cowbell because he hated the sound - anonymous
- False, Keralis, Cleo, and Stress make it to spawn, bedraggled and exhausted. Out of all the Hermits, they are some of the last to arrive. Along the way, they’ve encountered trials innumerable that have left them beaten and bruised, but after months of travel, they’ve finally made it.Shortly after leaving the Moobloom field, they came upon an abandoned cart in the middle of a desolate village. With some of the redstone they had found and whatever magic they managed to scrape up, they turned it into a sort of vehicle that allowed them to travel much faster. It had a habit of breaking every six seconds or so, but nothing they couldn’t fix. For the most part. A few accidental combustions aside, they crossed the server in record time.Once at spawn, False has to be forcibly restrained from immediately starting guard duty, and several of the Hermits have to physically wrestle her into a bed in order for her to get some rest. Stress starts up a potion factory the next day, and also starts decorating the spawn with the flowers she’s collected during their travels. Keralis helps out wherever he’s needed, but in his downtime, he constructs an elaborate warren of tastefully decorated, industrial tunnels under the spawn, just in case they might help. Cleo mostly just stays in bed, creating elaborate dioramas and mourning the loss of her zombie side. She’ll get better, but it’ll take some time. And that’s ok with the rest of them. - @/topazastral
- When Doc, Grian, and Ren finally make it to 0,0 there is no fanfare, no dramtic entrance, no revulation. They were travling and suddnly, there was a base, a hermitcraft base, and they could see people. Grian clambers to feet shakily from the shed, nearly falling but Doc and Ren catch him and toghther they help him walk foward and call out to their friends. They are safe now, they're here- Is that mumbo on a ravager what the hell? Wait thats Impluse? Seems like Grian wasnt the only one changed. - anonymous
- Jellie reacting to vex!scar headcanons -she recognises him instantly. The moment she and xb arrive at spawn she darts straight towards him. Of course, she cant figure out why he looks different, but regardless, thats her owner and she demands pets!!!-sometimes she will jump up and try to pounce on his vex wings, because shiny moving thing! Scar picked up on this very quickly and will move out of the way before she gets the chance (vex wings are rather delicate and a pain to get fixed)-whe she's bored, she will always go to mumbo and daisy for attention first. This makes scar rather jealous and she knows that damn well-Scar will sometimes pick her up and fly her around not too far from spawn for a few minutes. Nothing she isnt used to, as he flys with the elytra all the time, but something about flying with vex magic just feels... different. And fun! - anonymous
- Contrary to the enderman bdubs, ender dragon bdubs. His eyes aren't the normal brown, and are instead a bright magenta, he also now has ashen gray horns. - Anonymous
- Scattered AU: The intended world "theme" Xisuma had set up for Season 8 was Large Biomes. This was before anyone knew something was going to go wrong, of course, but it's had a horrible lasting effect in the glitched world. Not everywhere has generated as "large", so when Hermits are travelling they'll sometimes find normal sized biomes, and other times they'll find one biomes that stretches an abnormal distance in all directions. Grian and Doc's mountain range is one of these large biomes. - @/wixelt
- For the scattered au, the snow golem follows Grian and Ren (and Doc) to the spawn haven, for a few days the hermits are wondering what's leaving behind snow trails and zombie flesh, so they decide to have a night watch around this area. Ren volunteered and waited, half-asleep he nearly nearly gets hit with a arrow when he hears the sound of a skeleton getting hurt. He sees the snow golem and uses his sword to kill the skeleton. The snow golem tries to flee but Ren realizes and stops it (1/2)He welcomes the snow golem and introduces it to Grian and Doc, (where the snow golem warns him that it is keeping its eyes on him in its own language). Spooked, Grian tells them that he can understand it, and the golem tells him that he's been following them since their time at the mountain. They decide to give it the name Catmint and it helps guard the hermit's base at night (while giving a stern look at Doc every now and then.(2/2) - anonymous
- (Scattered au)Seeing as we now have 3 different variations of Etho, I raise you: all 3 at once. It turns out Etho was not in fact human, instead a shapeshifter who didn't know that he was, the deaths simply sped up the process, whereas before, while he would change slightly, it was never fast enough to be noticeable - Anonymous
- I had this idea some time ago actually but I thought it was silly but now that the au in ending might as well say it. It doesn't make much sense now with all the new development srry. What if one day Mumbo was callibrating his comunication monstrosity, and suddenly his communicator had signal. He called and called but whoever was a the other side didn't pick up, until they did and Mumbo was overjoyed, but the happiness died down when he could only hear chocked sobs and sharp breathing and (1)teeth chattering. Suddenly a voice whispered, little and fragile "h-h-he-lp". Mumbo knew that voice too well. Before he could even open his mouth to let his best friend he was coming for him, he'd be okay, anything, the breathing stopped. The call was still going, but no one was at the other side anymore, Mumbo hung up with tears in his eyes, and he swore he'd find him and he'd help him. (2) - anonymous
- Scattered AU: While there's still time for them: Mumbo was the furthest Hermit out in the Overworld, & didn't set off for over a year, yet wasn't last to 0,0 (with Iskall) by any stretch. More than half the Hermits seemed to arrive after him. This can be partly attributed to Daisy making good time, but it makes you wonder how many trials & tribulations impeded False, Stress, Cleo and Keralis along the way? How much Ren, Doc & Grian were slowed by Grian's condition? What took xB or Biffa so long? - @/wixelt
- Once everyone finds each other, at the world spawn, after the initial shock, and fixing of the world of course, the hermits all decide to settle much closer to each other. They were separated for quite a while, so it makes sense why they'd decide to keep close. Some groups also make shared bases. - anonymous
- I sort of want grian to be a bit more inhuman so how about grian’s skin on his arms, legs and most of his face permanently blackened by the severe frostbite and the rest of his skin has taken on a bluish tinge, his hair is no longer the Gold it was before but almost snow white with a tinge of dark and light blue, his ears and tail are snow white with what appears to be frost and ice growing on them (1/2)(2/2) grian can not cry because the tears will immediately turned to ice, he can’t swim because if his body touches the water the water will freeze over, his skin is cold to the touch and whatever he moves his body it will make a cracking sounds like breaking glass or smashing ice, no matter how warm it is he can always see his breath... i’m trying to think of more but I’m coming up blank so that’s it hope you like it. - anonymous
- bc i cant stand when cleo is unhappy: the moment she and joe reunite, joe realizes how horrible it is for her to have her body messed with against her will. and as an admin, he can modify her code to put her back to how she was in previous seasons (aka not totally rabid but still undead) - anonymous
- Admins log final day: I'm glad we'll all be able to wake up from this nightmare, and we're able to get an exit portal going thanks to Mango and Methodz having a backup of the key to open the infinity portal's power, we should be able to not only go back in time, but destroy this broken timeline. Were all grateful for them, and I did invite them both to help us incace this happens again. This will be the last day in this timeline, if you somehow found this helmet with these logs, thank you. :-) - anonymous
- Grian, Doc, and Ren find it hard to stay away from each other too long, especially Doc and Ren becuase they've been taking care of Grian for such a long time so they find themselves kinda hovering over him and Grian finds himself seeking them out even when he's with other hermits. The other groups, who've been toghther for awhile, do it too probs - anonymous
- Soon as Grian and Mumbo see each other, they launch themselves at the other and hold on for a long, long time. Iskall join in soon as he wanders by and they talk for hours about what happened, looking over Grian's new fox parts and the blue marks on his hands, Mumbo gray stained hands and magic, and just Iskalls overall experience. Also Grian's little fox buddy absolutely loves Daisy and vice versa. Its not uncommon to see the small fox riding on the ravager's back while Daisy scares people. - Anonymous
- I know I'm a bit out of loop w scattered au & is probably getting things wrong but consider this, when Mumbo accidentally summoned Scar, leaving Bdubs alone, Bdubs freaked out. The very person that meant rescue & hope for him back in the end is now gone, he felt like he's back into the void again and he thought Scar abandoned him because he's too weak & is a burden to Scar. (Yes I am currently drowning in Scardubs angst) - @/anthosaidsmth
- The glitches in the world didn't only happen to the Hermits, it happened to all worlds created in 1.17. The cause remains unknown, though it is believed that something or even someone corrupted/changed the code (what/who is up to imagination. In the case of the latter, so is the motive). My idea, we've already confirmed that Watchers are arrogant jerks so perhaps they couldn't stand the fact that players learned to do things against the rules that they put in place, and did this out of spite. - anonymous
- A bit late but I see all the Fox!Grian headcannons so what if Grian spawned in a jungle and slowly became a parrot hybrid instead? How idk, maybe resorting to eating seeds to prevent himself from starvation because there is no animals in this jungle.
- Here's a thought: The Hels!Hermits were also effected by whatever caused the scattering. They may all hate or annoy each other, but not having each other around to pick on isn't very fun (neither are death loops). Perhaps some of them gain humility over this or learn to be at least a bit nicer to each other and their counterparts. (or some of them find sadistic amusement in their counterpart's miseries) - anonymous
- Finally, once everyone has made it safely to spawn and the problems with the world have been resolved, the season begins. Some of the Hermits may have changed (more than just physically) but over time, they adapt and recover. Grian eventually starts yet ANOTHER war, Tango gets to build DO 2.0 (X is terrified at the fact wardens are involved), and Cleo becomes a coach on 'how to be a mob hybrid' (unless all new hybrids get returned to how they were before by admin powers or just being players). - anonymous
- With all the glitches fixed and all the hermits starting to get back to their normal (Well as normal as it can be after all of these), I wonder if Scar is still a vex. All the hermits just adapted to their situations, but Scar is different, he made a deal with the Vex. - @/anthosaidsmth
- It takes all of the hermits that changed a while to get used to the changes, but eventually they do, mostly through help and support from the other hermits - anonymous
- I had a wee idea and it's a little silly but I like hurt/comfort so maybe after all the scattered au events have passed and the hermits are all together living safely, every winter some hermits invite Grian to their bases to take care of him since the snow and the cold are very bad for him. Sometimes he gets fevers but most of the time he just needs a warm blanket and someone to distract him from the snow. This is also making me wonder if Grian could develop chinophobia (fear of the snow). - Anonymous

Loki Season 1 Thoughts
Overall, I really liked this series. It has some issues without question, but I sincerely don't think it's the dumpster fire so many viewers on this site treat it as. Did it go how I expected? Not at all? Did I enjoy the heck out of it and look forward to it every Wednesday? Hell yeah!
Loki's Good Guy Personality
A big complaint many have had with it is how much Loki's demeanor has changed and how his emotional growth feels rushed or his personality is ooc. Truth is, he saw his entire future, saw what his angry, power hungry, I-work-alone persona would get him in the end, and it snapped him back to reality. He has always been shown to be quite emotional and craving attention and lacking in self assurance, it's just in the past movies he's masked it with violence and fake narcissism, and he's always been a secondary character so his perspective is rarely shown. But if you really pay attention it's obvious he isn't truly villainous; we all know that, it's largely why he has such a huge fan base.
Right after meeting Mobius, Loki got an infodump of his future, saw his parents both die, found out that free will means jack shit, and learned he's absolutely powerless in this realm. On top of that, this is 2012 Loki, fresh off of being under Thanos' control, suddenly being shown that the guy who controlled him is going to end up killing him. Frankly,, I think it all broke Loki. He was too shook up by it all and by the sheer helplessness he found himself in at the TVA that he let all his barriers down momentarily. Just long enough for him to open up to Mobius about his motivation and his lack of self confidence. And you know what I bet? Loki felt relieved after talking to Mobius. A weight was lifted, because he bore his heart to someone and wasn't rejected or laughed at or treated like a psycho. And after letting his walls down fully, Loki didn't feel the need to put all of them back up. He stayed guarded around other people, but he didn't need to pretend around Mobius. Mobius has seen under the mask, so Loki doesn't feel pressure to perform as an all knowing, all powerful God around Mobius. That freedom is life changing.
People who gravitate towards broken, pseudo-villain characters do so because we relate to their internal conflict, their mental illness, their need to fake it around everyone close to them. Their turmoil and depression and self destructive behavior are familiar and we see ourselves reflected in their actions. Now, when a person really truly let's their guard down, drops all their layers of facade, and embraces themself, they tend to change demeanor and even personality pretty drastically. It's jarring in real life, so of course when it happens to a fictional character who you usually relate to it is going to be jarring, maybe even more so because it feels like a change you yourself would never go through. I know this sounds bad and people might get at me for it, but...
I believe the issue here is that a large part of Loki's fan base doesn't want him to get better. They don't want him to move past his mental illness, to learn how to cope with anger and disappointment in healthier ways, to be happy. They like his damaged persona, they like the internal conflict. Maybe it's because they're still at that low place themself and feel like a relatable character is getting taken away from them, maybe it's because they don't understand how much being at peace with yourself can alter a person and to them it feels like he's been changed too much. To those of us mostly on the up and up from battling depression and mental illness, it's comforting to see Loki getting a chance to be genuinely happy and accepting of himself.
Sylki and Lokius
First things first, I'm not anti anything. Ship what you want, idc. Personally, I do not see the Sylki dynamic as romantic, but I get why people read it that way. I thought the series did a good job of showing unrequited love, namely Loki falling for Sylvie and Sylvie feeling zero romance towards him. This was aware of his attraction and in the end used it as a distraction so she could get the upper hand. The show played up the potential romance because we are viewing things from Loki's perspective and he's become smitten as a kitten. I do think in the long run they'll have a more sibling-like dynamic, one Loki realizes that you can feel extreme love and care for a person without it being romantic. I enjoyed how the show explored their relationship, though I do wish they hadn't had every character under the sun mention their moment on Lamentis-1 like it was some big deal to bond with someone you're about to die with.
I'm bitter towards the development of Lokius. It had a strong start in the beginning, and in ep 5 had some potential reignited, but then they had Mobius not know who Loki is at the end. I'm still hoping they're playing the long game with this ship and that it'll come to fruition partway through season 2. The chemistry is there, and Mobius knows Loki very intimately and isn't put off by his past. Loki also feels much more at ease around Mobius than he does around Sylvie. It's the comfort of a deep loving bond with Mobius verses the nervousness of a new crush that he feels for Sylvie.
I don't think Loki is quite aware of his feelings for Mobius, simply because it's based in friendship and mutual respect and isn't a hot and heavy lust. Plus, as soon as he was away from Mobius he was thrown into a near death experience with Sylvie and developed a surface crush during their heart to heart. Since Loki's still figuring out what genuine feelings are beyond anger and sadness, he sees the simplistic crush he has on Sylvie as love and the intimate bond he's been forming with Mobius as friendship. He doesn't understand his own feelings yet, but I think he'll figure it out next season. I mean, he was probably already rethinking his feelings for her after she kissed and betrayed him, mentally kicking himself for expecting her to not pull a Loki betrayal like he would've in the past.
The Time Variance Authority
I really like the concept of the TVA, the structure of it, the methods they use, the deeply fucked way they recruit employees, the cult like motto, shady Miss Minutes who is definitely playing her own long game, and the blind acceptance TVA agents have of the Time Keepers' will. It's all very well done... until your dig into the core, aka He Who Remains. They built up the idea that the Time Keepers created the TVA to prevent a multiverse war and that they created agents to enforce their will. Then the creating agents turned out to be fake, the Time Keepers were fake, I expected the reason for the TVA's existence to be fake to. It felt too simple to have it genuinely exist just to keep the multiverse in check. Why the anonymity, unless it's to keep from having agents target and prune versions of himself which.. songs like a decent solution. HWR made it sound as though the multiverse war was just a bunch of versions of himself screwing shit up, so why isn't the TVA's focus on eradicating every other variant of this guy? Sounds a lot easier and nicer than fucking with the free will of every other living being. So either Marvel made a bad call when choosing what HWR's motive was for creating the TVA, or he was lying about it all to cover up something sinister.
Overall Storyline
I'm fairly happy with the plot as a whole. There were some pacing issues and I think a few missed chances for deeper conversations between various characters. While I enjoyed the Loki variants, I honestly would've been happier seeing Tom playing most the variants (except Kid Loki and Classic Loki since they are clearly different age ranges). If there is supposed to be one sacred timeline, it seems off to me that Lokis would be allowed to vary so extremely without it causing a nexus event(an alligator, whose nexus wasn't that he's an animal who obviously can't do any magic much less command Thanos' army, but that he ate someone's cat) and not just in appearance but in life path (ie boastful Loki collected all the infinity stones but it wasn't till he had 6 that he caused a nexus event even though him gaining control of the Soul, Power, and Time stones should've each caused nexus events since on the sacred timeline he never interacts with those 3 and taking any one of them would've fucked up a lot of other timeline parts)
I love the display of Lokis raw power, and 2012 Loki coming to the realization that he's way more powerful than he ever thought. And it wasn't just Classic Loki who spent thousands of years alone honing his skills, 2012 Loki reversed time on a goddamn falling building! I also liked the small magic, the fireworks, the tablecloth blanket, Loki yanking Sylvie away from HWR with just magic.
As someone who is both bisexual and genderfluid, I would've really loved more concrete representation. The comment about there never being another female Loki hit me in the gut; it undermined the Easter egg "Sex: Fluid" on Loki's TVA file. With how big a deal Sylvie being female was made out to be throughout the season, I expected her gender to play a key role in taking down the head of the TVA, like it was foretold that only a female Loki could end it all or some shit.
I don't mind the idea of Loki finding love in a straight passing relationship. I don't even mind the selfcest all that much. It just feels so obvious to me that Sylvie is written as not having any romantic inclination towards Loki, while Mobius is clearly written as falling in love with someone he shouldn't and trying to maintain an heir of professionalism to keep from wrecking his bond with Loki. I really really hope they come through on season 2 and give Lokius the canon relationship and proper representation they deserve.
Mmkay I thinks that's all the thoughts I've got right now. If you've been feeling cheated or clowned by how things went this season, maybe my perspective of things can help ease your pain.

10 days until school and I’m no more decided than I was a week ago. I flip flop ten times day about what might be best. A is sick of hearing me talk about it. He doesn’t disagree with my risk assessment but he is sick of talking about it.
It caused an issue with his friend, a friend who is his best friend and is unvaccinated and works in a jail. Months ago we told friend he could only visit (this place is their boyhood dream) once he’s vaccinated. Friend typically believes in science and is very health conscious but his gf is a moron Trump lover and her family the same and that’s who he’s been spending all his time with since this all started. When I asked friend why he’s not vaccinated he said he’s young & healthy, didn’t trust the vaccines, would do it when they got full fda approval. Plenty of young healthy people are dead of this. Anyway then I asked ok so what if you give it to someone who isn’t and dies, people incarcerated in the jail he works in and don’t have the luxury of social distancing, and he was like eh whatever. So yes friend is an asshole, but his best friend for decades, friend has always been kind of an asshole but has many redeeming qualities too. So we said no visit. But then in July when there was no covid here and no covid where he lives and we were blissfully living our covid free lives we loosened up and said he could visit with two negative tests. But then covid got bad again and when asshole friend contacted A the other day to say he took time off in late Sept to visit, A said sorry, it’s fully fda approved now you have no excuses not to vaccinate, we’re worried about our unvaccinated kids, and as of now you can’t visit but hey maybe if you get vaccinated and the numbers look better we can reassess in a month and you can come. Friend was a total dick about it, didn’t understand our point of view at all, stressed A about it, who was in a bad mood about it for days afterward.
Then there’s the neighbors. I had a chat with the kids and a chat with the mom. I framed it as we love them so much and I know they’re careful but I think we should all be more careful while the numbers are so rising (aka only outdoor hangouts) and we are careful but I’ve heard terrifying stories from doctor friends about kids and babies getting very sick, and they have a baby who I don’t want us to make sick, and she said she agreed. The kids have been pretty good about making the adjustment from constant sleepovers to playing outside but M keeps asking me “the kids need to pee are they allowed to use the bathroom, the kids are hungry are they allowed to come inside even for one minute for a snack,” and I feel like the villain (I’ve been saying yes to pee, snacks I’ll bring out). Everyone’s been understanding but nobody is getting what I mean when I say only outdoor socializing. All the kids keep asking me when I’ll take them to town again for ice cream, “but it’s outside” (um yeah but the car’s not), asking their mom to ask me for sleepovers even though they know what the answer will be. The other day they were playing in our yard then it started raining and they were like “we can’t walk home in the rain”- I don’t want them to walk home in the rain, but again the car is indoors!- so I drove them home (but made M stay at our house). They’re not my kids so I can’t make them wear masks and it feels like now I am in the position of being the mean parent who’s psycho about covid, which in a way I am, but it would help me to stick to my guns and feel okay about sticking to them if the government policies matched the severity of the situation, ie mask mandates in public places (instead of stores posting polite recommendations), vaccine mandates, virtual learning options, etc.
Which brings me to school. After selling M hard on real school, then I sold her hard on home school. She already “did” 3rd grade last year (as much as me teaching her in my pajamas counts as doing), but this district has an earlier cut off than the city, so she’s in 3rd grade again here. Which is fine by me- her birthday is the same day as the very late nyc cut off (12/31) and I hated that she was the absolute youngest. I used to beg the school to hold her back and they’d say “but why she’s doing so well!” not understanding that I was thinking ahead to the teen years. But anyway, despite her haphazard pj’d professor, she seemed to learn a lot last year so homeschool this year could basically be unschool. She’d traipse around the forest identifying birds and trees with A and her brother, reading for pleasure, and I’d spend an hour here and there reviewing some worksheets with her so she’d be on track when she starts real school after she gets vaccinated. She was into the idea, until she found out she and one of the neighbor kids are in the same class. Now she absolutely wants to go to real school, AND ride the school bus. The school bus part makes me very nervous. While there is now a school mask mandate (but will it be enforced? what are their lunch procedures, what % of teachers are vaccinated, what % of the older kids in the same building as the little kids are vaccinated, did they actually really update their ventilation system?) and a bus mask rule, it’s a long rural route (15 min drive or 45 min bus) and I have no faith that bus windows will be open and all riders will be masked the whole time.
So just tell her she can go to school but has to be driven by a parent, right? Not so simple. I was offered a job at a (somewhat, commuting distance) nearby nonprofit- an easy low stress job in a bastion of liberalism with very very nice smart coworkers, excellent work life balance, a writing job that sounds made for me, like the job description is exactly what I would put together if I were putting together my dream job (except the pay, which is half what I was making at a fancy DC nonprofit, but high for this area, and our housing cost is half so it should be fine if A can get away from little guy long enough to bring in some money too). It’s mostly remote but approx one day a week in the office and some days there will be things I need to attend out in the community (not necessarily our community, they serve the whole region). It won’t always be the same day in the office and the office is an hour away- so on those days A would have no car to get her to and from school, since I’d need to leave before school starts and get home after it’s done. So I guess we need to buy a new car? Aside from this issue we really don’t need a second car now, were planning to get one eventually, but not until A’s business has enough projects to justify the cost.
Despite its many demands/challenges/ stressors, home school is sounding easier to me at this point (especially because she already did this grade), except she WANTS to go to school. Someone talk me out of putting some lipstick and a pantsuit on her and taking her to get vaccinated. I know, I know: the 5-11 dosage is 1/3 of the 12-adult dosage. The doctors I’ve spoken to are split on this hypothetical kamikaze mission. The doctors I’ve spoken to are also split on me and A going to a pharmacy now for booster. It’s been almost 6 months since our 2nd dose. We do not have compromised immune systems. This county has way more doses than demand and I would feel better sending M to school (bus or not) if we had our boosters and she had a first dose- moral and scientific quandaries aside- because there is A LOT of covid here now, a lot of covid everywhere now, and I feel like we are returning to regular life at the time when we should be most hunkered down.
Which brings me to the data. Per capita there are as many known cases here as in nyc, except nyc has a 50% higher vax rate, much more mask usage, better medical system. People are not getting enough tests here, there is a higher positivity rate, and so I think the actual number of cases is much higher than the reported number of cases. It seems like, friends here and in the city and in the suburbs (I just broke up with a friend in the suburbs because she professes to be a good democrat but is hosting a bonafide super spreader event and vacationing in a place with 39% positivity and a collapsed health care system), are thinking of covid as something you catch from strangers- they wear masks in stores- but aren’t careful at all around close friends and family (so many extended family gatherings, so many, cousins and grandparents and half-siblings and aunts and uncles and whoever), when this is a disease that kills via the people you love most, the ones who’d never intentionally hurt you.

The Earth says: Part 1
The Earth Says It's S.P.O.I.L.E.R.1.2.7 (vlive)
These are ugly as hell clothes. The worst styling I saw in a while. Especially the trousers on Do (his poor round ass) and Yuta (who puts mic equipment inside like he did...).
Also the filter is very strange. Does it get rid of deep shadows? Everything looks so washed out. The strange desaturated tone of skin, the black shirts that don’t look black.
05:32 - Jae smiled at the prospect of Do acting cute.
05:42 - Do doesn’t miss the comments about Jae’s face looking crazy good.
09:12 - Yuta joked “Is this Doyoung’s solo (album)?”. Reminded me how he is a secret soloist Doyoung’s fan.
09:32 - Jae woke up from his slumber to comment on his bae working hard.
13:15 - Johnny accuses Do of not getting a ticket, while Jae smiles at his bae benefits. There were readers who insisted JohnDo have a stronger friendship than JaeDo, heh. During the times of JohnDo having lots of content. Welp, one got a ticket right away, another asks all the time and is still being ignored. Speaking of which, I do think Do is afraid of Johnny making fun of him, as he said once to Tae (?). He might be a good sport, but it doesn’t mean he likes to be laughed at. And the musical, as a new venture, something for himself and not the group, is very important to him.
13:18 - the story about the coffee from Jae. Do stopped himself, decided to not go too much into detail (did he want to comment on the stickers on the cans?). Johnny started to sing something. Haechan as the JaeDo club’s president smiled the widest.
Let’s note what is absent. Jaehyun did such a big gesture, and Do didn’t look at him, didn’t put his hand on his shoulder, didn’t say “thank you, I was really touched” personally to him. And Jae didn’t turn as well. Is it normal? No, not at all.
Jae broke his mask for a bit. Shy puppy. People rub their noses when they are shy, because the capillaries widen, bringing more blood to the tip, and the nose starts to itch.
13:46 - Marks encouraged JaeDo to continue, Jaehyun to add something. Jaehyun stuttered, heh. Then laughed at himself. Shows his excitement paired with self-control.
Fullsun is embarassed for you, hyung.
Now I wonder about Mark’s comment about Do wanting the coffee badly. How did he know? In what circumstances Do talked about it? It wasn’t in the presence of Jae, as Jae said “I sensed it”. What a choice of a verb, heh. Attentive much? Also, Jae said “at least once”. A nice slip of tongue. His words betrayed his real thoughts. What mere collegue thinks about sending food support several times?
13:59 - Funny, Johnny’s cover up was not for the case. “Usually, Doyoung makes a group chat to gather everyone to prepare smth for another member. This time Jaehyun did it.” Johnny wanted to say how Jae took care of Do who takes care of others, however, Jae did everything single-handedly, without the help of others (at least noone spoke up). The comparison is not precise (not naturally born from a direct association) and so hints at Johnny’s comment being said with a design.
14:32 - Now it Woo’s turn to talk about Do and Mark sending him support. And the reaction of the members? Total disinterest. The MC job is as big for Woo as the musical for Do, Woo had never got any food support before, Do gave him his card... DoWoo or WooMark are not the resident couple to coo at though.
This is how interested neos are in the second coffee story.
Everyone became lively only when it was revealed that Haechan sent food as well.
16:40 - JaeDo reacting energetically with clapping their hands. Were they both there? Jae usually doesn’t react to Woo’s humour like that. Anyway, they both shared a joke, it wasn’t just about Woo’s delivery.
17:10 - Do said that Tae was going to say a TMI about Jae next. It’s normal for him to move along things like this, but in this case it also his attention to Jaehyun-ie. Sometimes he ignores Jae so much, he doesn’t mention him without nesessety.
17:15 - Tae’s TMI. Lol, he started with caution and still made a slip up. “I couldn’t sleep, decided to play a game, accessed it, and Jae was there, so we played together”. So far they could been on different floors. “And then we ate fried chicken”. Ooops. So Jae was on the 5th floor in the middle of the night? And what did he forget there so late? Haha.
Also look at Jae’s smile in the very beginning of the story (he soon fought it off). It’s not a smile to smile with about playing a shooting game. No, there is an inmix of emotions about something else.
In the middle of Tae’s story.
What if Jae went down for the chicken? It wasn’t so, because Tae didn’t mention ordering the chicken and inviting Jae down (when we tell a story, we remember by connecting events in a chain, telling everything step by step).
17:37 - Do laughed at someone saying he would download the game (Yuta or Hyuk?). Quickly he calmed himself with exhaling. Again, not a proper reaction to a story about video games (Do has zero interest in them) unless he is tense (and he should be, because there is truth being concealed).
And lastly, here is Mark looking at Doyoung right after Jae finished his speech about playing a game with Tae after a long time.
Jae talks about Hyuk and makes a contact with him. What Do should have done earlier (and Do is the touchy one between the two).
Sorry, Jae, I can’t see any gradation, the filter erased the difference in hues.
- Yuta was confused about the burgers and consulted Do (gave him a questioning glance), so Do supported his story, Hyuk as well. Was it Jae’s burger? There is something being ommited, and Do and neos laughing about something.
Doyoung, don’t forget about your cute image. Those teeth are scary. He even said “rrr”, haha.
OK, it wasn’t for the fans, not deliberetly. He has a habit of releasing his frustration in funny outbursts like these. Helps him to make a switch, calm down his nervous system.

In Defense of the Psychopath
Alright, wanna venture into my crazy ass brain? I’m going to start by saying one thing that will set the tone for everything else that follows: Villanelle is not a psychopath in the way that we currently understand them. Why am I even bothering to write about a fictional character, you ask? Because representation is important. Media portrayal of various mental and behavioral health topics (including ones that people might not think need to be discussed) is important and this show has a big audience. I also just want to contribute to the conversations that are taking place because I am seeing A LOT of them and the reason for that I believe boils down to the fact that Jodie makes Villanelle so relatable and people want to know what that means and looks like for them. Even those who felt they could relate to Sandra’s Eve, or the relationship between the two, maybe questioned what that meant the further they went down the path with them. “It’s probably a bad thing I relate to a psychopath, right? But she can’t be a psychopath because she cries and she feels things! Psychopaths don’t cry, which means she isn’t realistic so therefore it’s okay that I relate to her! Right? Or are my assumptions about psychopaths and people with antisocial personality disorder wrong? I relate to Eve but look what she is underneath it all...so does that mean I relate to that part of her too?” Not only is villanelles character relatable, but people see the freedom inherent within her, the freedom that Eve sees, and they realize that, at least on some level, they want it too. The show has (unintentionally I think) created a massive dialogue which is super cool and you can tell everyone involved on the show is aware of that now, I mean they have a consulting psychiatrist so I think that speaks for itself. This is less of a commentary on the character herself and whether or not she is a genuine psychopath, and more so a commentary on the conversations she has inspired and why... For the record, this is literally just my opinion sprinkled with a few facts, nothing else.
So, the term psychopath gets thrown around in the show, more so in the beginning, MI6 explicitly labels Villanelle this way, even going so far as to use her in a presentation about psychopaths, although I think that was more so to gauge Eve’s response than anything else. The reality of Villanelle, which we come to learn, is that nobody has been able to get close enough to really know the truth. Anna and Konstantin both got close but we never hear either of them use that word (Konstantin says it once but he clearly doesn’t mean it, it was more of an attempted manipulation tactic). They make it clear that she has, and can, and WILL cause damage, but that’s as far as they go. Eve is getting close and she tells Villanelle when they first meet that she knows Villanelle is a psychopath but it’s obvious from Eve's behavior and things she says later on that she truly doesn’t believe Villanelle is what everyone says she is. It’s easier to label her as a psychopath because that alienates and isolates her and her behavior completely. She is an outlier with behavioral anomalies and therefore it isn’t necessary to look any closer. For MI6 and others (not talking about the shows creators) to label Villanelle as a psychopath is easy, it’s lazy, it’s reductive, it serves a single purpose... a means to an end. They (anyone other than Eve basically) simply do not care about Villanelle’s truth. But as an audience we are lucky enough to see more of her with each episode. The psychopath label begins to fade and Oksana is what’s left. We know based on what she has said that she is aware that people think she is a psychopath, a monster, a person built to kill. It’s not always easy to decide that who you are is different from who you’ve always been told you are, especially given her history. Villanelle hasn’t told us yet if she thinks (or knows) that she is a psychopath, but it’s clear towards the end of last season that she no longer wants to be the person that they (meaning the twelve, Dasha, Konstantin, etc.) created. We see moments where she clearly has no remorse and clearly enjoys what she does, but then we have little moments sprinkled in between where she very obviously struggles, even if its short lived. And those moments are important. We have the moment where she struggles with the choice to shoot Konstantin, saying he is a good person, she thinks. This comes shortly after a conversation she had where Irina tells Villanelle she thinks she is a good person because she is sad, so we know she is thinking about it, we know the awareness is there, and it becomes more and more there as times goes on. I like to think of it in terms of having moments that are pure Villanelle (ie the way she killed Inga in the Russian prison), and then we have moments that are Oksana, vulnerable and emotional. Villanelle is a creation and a mask whereas oksana is the truth. Those moments are starting to really mean something. I'm not even going to start with her trip to find her family, that’s its own thing, but it's a Really Big Thing.
So. Villanelle is not a psychopath in the way that we currently understand and perceive them. Yes, she displays psychopathic traits, and yes, she absolutely has antisocial personality disorder. I read an article where the psychiatric consultant for the show (makes it pretty obvious how hard they worked to make Villanelle as realistic as possible) said that the Villanelle in Luke Jenning’s books scored a 32 on Hare’s psychiatric checklist, but I like to think (and I think a lot of people would agree) that number is a bit high, at least for Jodie’s Villanelle, maybe not even hitting 30 at all (close though, let’s be real lol). The max score is 40 which would be a fully blown primary psychopath. For reference, Ted Bundy scored 39. This checklist is flawed though, mostly created and based off the prison population. Which is why it isn’t used as a proper diagnostic tool. 32 is apparently extraordinarily high for a female (think Aileen Wuornos), which brings me to my next point which is that because it’s hard to measure a lot of the classic traits objectively, there is not a ton of solid data surrounding psychopathy, and even less of it is on female psychopaths. Like most things in life, psychopathy exists on a spectrum, there are levels and layers. It’s not black and white, there’s no definitive test (psychopathy isn’t even in the DSM-5 because as I said earlier it’s extremely hard to measure objectively) and it's important to distinguish between someone who exhibits psychopathic traits and someone who is actually an identifiable psychopath. Chances are high that someone you know displays at least one characteristic shared with psychopaths and this doesn’t make them one.
I think what’s important about this is that mental disorders (mental illness/personality disorders/etc.) of any kind are much more nuanced than a lot of people tend to think they are. That they exist less in black and white and more in shades of grey. Jodie Comer is absolutely remarkable for showcasing that through portraying the different layers of Villanelle. Her performance is a literal gift. We cannot keep thinking and acting like we know everything about how a person thinks, feels, and behaves based strictly and entirely on one label. The thing that has stuck out to me the most, the reason I decided to even write this bullshit babble, is that one of the most searched topics about the show is whether or not it’s realistic that Villanelle cries, and honestly how sad is that? That makes me sad for V. Is it more realistic for her to develop connections and cognitive empathy if she was made into a psychopath vs if she was born that way? Is there a legitimate difference between the two? And how do we even decide which one is applicable for someone? It’s important to add that antisocial personality disorder is not the same thing as psychopathy or sociopathy. You can have aspd and not be a psychopath. Research has shown that about only a third of those diagnosed with aspd would meet criteria to be considered a psychopath. Society is not doing a great job at getting people to understand this. But to be fair, understanding personality disorders specifically has been somewhat problematic, a lot of diagnostic confusion and overlap between disorders. A LOT of work needs to be done. But as far as portrayals go, society has strictly chosen to go the route of giving us psychopathic characters and having them be inherently violent, incapable of remorse, feelings, or change. Poverty of all emotions. Subhuman. They are made out to be so abnormal and unrelatable to the point where the character of Villanelle has sparked so much debate and fascination simply because she exists in a way that actually IS relatable...and layered and beautiful and thrilling. We thought she would be the bad guy and yet we root for her at every turn, we cry for her, we want good things for her! We see her darkness and without question or hesitation we forgive it. She makes us question what we’ve previously been shown. Questioning whether or not it’s realistic that she acts the way she does is less important than questioning our own personal assumptions and beliefs and where those come from. I think that’s awesome. Villanelle is truly a gift. She is hands down one of the most well written fictional characters, which is saying a lot considering when you put something, or someone, in a box it doesn’t leave tons of room for expansion. and I honestly don’t even really need to say this, but.. Jodie Comer.

If you refuse to get vaccinated or refuse to get your dependents vaccinated against a virus that has already shown to mutate quickly during a global pandemic that disproportionately kills BIPOC people and disabled people.
You're racist and abelist.
And fuck you.
I'm not sure if the post is in my queue because I wrote a big long thing.
If it comes up then whatever.
But SO MUCH has changed in just a few days I kind of want to post it NOW.
So I was doing this monthly game night before the pandemic. We take turns bringing food for everyone. The food is out buffet style. There's cards or dice that everyone is touching. There's little bowls of open candy in the middle of the table. It's a group of 12 people, not including whomever lives with the person hosting it. We're close together. They said they won't wear a mask (and there's food. How can you?)
They canceled it a couple of times before starting it up again. I'm like "Fuck that. My sister is high risk and I want to be able to see her." So I dropped out.
Well, a friend of a friend (ie the person that added me to the group for this game night). She's a huge Trumpie. No Mask. Pro-cop. The whole nine.
She refused to get vaccinated.
And she has an adult dependent with a severe learning disability.
And she attends other events like this one.
Well...
The day after the game night she texts my friend her husband has COVID. She has symptoms. Her son doesn't. They'll but get tested.
Well a couple of days later, her son has COVID pneumonia. He's high risk because of his disability. Next day they went to the ER because it had gotten bad. His oxygen was low, but they're low on space. They sent him home with an oxygen monitor, said if it gets lower they'll need to admit him.
Next day, guess who's in the ER.
I have no sympathy for her or her husband. If you, an adult that has the mental capacity to take care of yourself want to put your life at risk, have at it.
But a sweet man that's high risk and a dependent due to his learning disability? And she's going out pretty much weekly to these group events where they're sharing food, not wearing a mask, acting like it's just the flu?
He doesn't deserve that.
Yeah, I'm sure now that their son is seriously ill they're all concerned. Where was that the other 12 months when she's known 2 people that died?
(Yeah, people are already talking about reporting for neglect of a dependent, but I don't thing they'll do anything. They are really pro-plague here.)
I just.
I have family that's high risk. I have a family member with a learning disability.
It just... it hurts, you know? If you want to risk your own life that's on you. Don't gamble the lives of people that depend on you.

Tangled Salt Marathon - The Return of the King
So we’re back to the quasi-filler stuff. This episode does set a few things up for the finale, like bringing Edmund to Corona, but none of those things are actually good and it’s still mostly filled with irrelevant shit alongside the more important stuff.
Summary: King Edmund arrives in Corona to see his long-lost son, Eugene, and to give him the royal sash of their bloodline. Eugene wants nothing to do with him, but Rapunzel invites him to stay. Later, the sash is stolen and a ransom note is left behind. Edmund and Eugene decide to go and retrieve it. Meanwhile, the Stabbington Brothers plot revenge on Eugene as they are both viewed as a joke by the other criminals.
So How Did the Stabbingtons Escape the Prison Barge
Last we saw them they were stuck on a prison barge along with Lady Caine and all of the other season one villains. How did they escape? Did Lady Caine or anybody else make it out? If so then where are they this season?
We’re not going to get any of those questions answered are we?
Man this is just sloppy continuity. Which ironic, because these two were only brought back this season because of continuity. They need to be “redeemed” so that they can be at the wedding. I guess it just sucks to be you if you’re an original villain for this show and not named Cassandra.
Why Is This Deserving of Ridicule?
Like...We’re talking about a world renowned thief and adventurer and his magical royal girlfriend who are well known enough outside of Corona to be mentioned and there for no doubt people know how they both defeated monsters, daemons, and several criminals besides just there two guys, right?
This plot point makes no sense.
You could just kick these dumbasses butts and be done with it. I doubt they’d bother picking on you again if you did.
Did we really need even more motivation for them to want revenged against Eugene?
Rapunzel is Back to Being Her Bossy Self
Rapunzel has not earned the role of “wise administrator” yet. She’s only been out of the tower for two years now and she has yet to prove to the audience that she has managed to learn anything since then. By jumping the gun and forcing her into a role that she hasn’t grown into, and by ignoring that this whole show started out as a coming of age story, it just makes Rapunzel unpleasant to be around. All her “advice” is just her ordering people about with a veneer of chipperness to try and mask her controlling nature. People who should know more about their own lives than she does and have no reason to listen to her.
So We’re Showing Rapunzel Being Responsible... By Having Her Avoid Responsibility?
Part of why the writers made her “acting queen” for the first half the season was to get her to grow into the role of becoming full time queen. However they screwed this up by not having her actually learn anything and having her avoid the real duties a queen preforms.
What Rapunzel is doing her is just being a socialite busybody. The only administrative thing she does is approve some low-scale building plans for a small business. A thing that would have been handled by a lower official in an actual functioning government.
Once again Rapunzel is being selfish and doing what she like, ie bossy people around while having them kiss her ass, as the real work of running the kingdom is left to someone else. This isn’t being responsible, it’s being hypocritical, but don't expect anyone to ever call Rapunzel out for this.
Pointless Action Scene is Pointless
At this point, the low stakes action sequences are just cringe. Like is this an adventure show or not people? Stop forcing crap like this and give us some real conflicts instead.
How Did You Get Here So Fast Edmund?
It took Rapunzel and company nearly a year to get to the Dark Kingdom. Even if Edmund wasn't delayed with pit stops like they were, it would have still taken him several months to get here by horse.
Did he take a boat, or have four to six months already past since Rapunzel’s Return?
I would argue that this episode was aired out of order and should have been later in the season, but Cassandra’s appearance at the end of this story, and Hamnuel’s appearances in later episodes, would suggest otherwise.
Crap like this is why season’s three timeline doesn’t work unless you stretch everything out to two years instead of one.
Read the Room Rapunzel
One could argue that Rapunzel is just trying to be polite, but that doesn't really hold water.
For starters Eugene is clearly upset and has every right to want to set boundaries between himself and Edmund. Ignoring that is incredibly rude and if my significant other ever did such a thing, well they wouldn’t be my significant other for very long.
Secondly, Rapunzel could have offered other accommodations if she felt pressured to be polite to Edmund. Not only are their lots of inns in a port town known for trade, many of which are probably well-to-do, but there’s also that convent that was mentioned back in season one. It has to be somewhere in Corona itself and as the so far only mentioned major religious organization in the country it would no doubt have stately quarters for when royalty and nobility would visit.
So not only would it be a suitable place for a visiting king to stay in, as it would be made for such things, but it’s also far enough away that Eugene wouldn’t feel like his space is being invaded but close enough that Edmund could come and go as he pleases.
By that point it’s still between Edmund and Eugene and Rapunzel can stay out of it, like she should.
Eugene is Right
These are all valid reasons for cutting someone out of your life. Furthermore, you don’t even need a reason. If you don’t want to associate with somebody then just don't associate with. It’s your life. You don’t have to justify how you choose to live it and people who actually care about you should respect that.
Unfortunately no one respects Eugene.
Not Edmund, not Rapunzel, and most certainly not the writers.
Then Why Don't You Get Closer to Edmund, Rapunzel?
I understand Rapunzel’s viewpoint here. Edmund is the only person she’s ever met who has experienced the same isolation that she has. He’s one of the very few people whom she can empathize with.
However that doesn’t give her the right to force her views upon her boyfriend. If she cared so much than she could just befriend Edmund herself and leave Eugene out of it.
Trying to encourage a child to have relationship with a parent who neglected them is super tone deaf at best and outright disrespectful at worst. It’s also highly hypocritical seeing as Rapunzel cut Gothel out of her life for similar reasons and Eugene only ever supported her for it.
No really, flip the situation. If Eugene tried to encourage Rapunzel to give Gothel a second chance everyone would be slamming him for it. So why does Rapunzel get a free pass?
Shorty Already Did That, Eugene. Don’t You Remember?
I mean, you were literally right there when it happened. Are we forgetting season two the same as season one now?
So Why Are Stan and Pete Suddenly Back, But Not Cap?
I mean we went through all that trouble in Rapunzel’s Return to write them out of the narrative and here they are without any explanation. Why are simple set ups so dang hard for this show?
Rapunzel is Overstepping Her Bounds Here
Ok, giving Edmund a place to stay is one thing. Suggesting to Eugene that he should give Edmund a chance is not appropriate but still forgivable. But this?
This crosses a fucking line!
Eugene is not Rapunzel’s subject. He’s her boyfriend, and a prince in his own right. Rapunzel can’t just volunteer him for crap without his consent. That’s just indirectly ordering him about like she would a servant.
Once again, flip the script. If Eugene tried to force Rapunzel to work with Gothel everyone would be up in arms. Why is this then deemed okay?
This is Coercion
Not only is Edmund and Rapunzel trying to guilt trip Eugene here but she even fucking elbows him!
Like this isn’t “cute couple bickering” here. That kind of stuff is reserved only for inconsequential shit.
This a woman trying to strong arm and guilt trip her husband to be into having a relationship with his abusive father! Because guess what? Neglect is still abuse!
Rapunzel has zero say in Eugene and Edmund’s relationship. It’s none of her fucking business! Trying to force her into this plot just makes her look like an asshat.
I mean look at this smug smile! The fucking bitch is proud of being a shit human being and a terrible girlfriend.
And of course don't expect the show to call out this behavior as wrong because of out of date sexist double standards. If you think any of this is okay then just role reverse Eugene and Rapunzel here and then tell me its still alright.
The Show Missed a Real Trick By Not Naming Him Horus Instead
Horus, the sun god, would have been a nice bit of irony and given meaning to the name while keeping the joke virtually unchanged. You could have had both lore and a punchline.
And I would argue that the joke as is, isn’t even funny. Horace is indeed a lame name, but not for the reason that the show gives. It’s lame because it’s not unique enough. There’s already a Disney character named Horace and I’m sure there are real people out there with that name as well since it’s not completely unheard of. So the joke falls flat and winds up insulting anyone with that name.
Don’t Expect Any Pay Off for Eugene’s Identity Issues This Season
Yeah the show makes a big deal out of Eugene having a mid-life crisis through out season three, but then never resolves it in any meaningful way.
Edmund Is an Asshole
I don’t care how “crazy” he is. Calling someone by a name they don't wished to be called is just plain rude. Acknowledging someone’s preferred name is just a basic common courtesy that is expected of everyone. Once again, this isn’t funny, quirky, nor charming, just unpleasant.
So the Animators Wasted a Model on a No-Named Character Who Only Appears Once
Someone said this little girl appears in season one, but it’s not noticeable if she does. She also doesn’t have a name and this is her only speaking role. What a waste of money. Just have one of the braided girls from the movie instead. You already built models for them and haven’t really used them.
And before some mentions race here, this is poor rep already cause the character has no impact.
Turns Out, Varian Didn’t Even Need Those Truth Serum Cookies
Not only does this dumb down Pete to a ridiculous degree, but it also invalidates everything Varian went through in The Alchemist Returns and the grief he got from everyone for using the truth serum.
Oh, and it’s also lazy writing and a plot contrivance.
That’s Not Figgy Pudding!
This is Figgy Pudding.
It’s a boiled “pudding” that’s more like a cake with dried fruit in it. During the 14th through 18th centuries such bread puddings were made to be carried around in ones pocket or knapsack for eating on the go. They’re nothing like the creamy custards we call puddings today.
It also looks nothing like what’s shown on the screen below.
That’s like a half eaten loaf of wheat bread?
That’s jelly filled .. apparently...?
Once Again, If You Have to Make Everyone Else Incompetent to Make Your Hero Useful to the Plot Then You Need a New Plot
Rapunzel has zero business in this plot. She doesn’t even need to be in this episode beyond a cameo. Trying to cram her into the protagonist role in a conflict that doesn’t involve her is just a disservice to everyone.
Winnie The Pooh Is More Mature Than This Show
More of that meta commentary I was talking about last episode, and it just as full of shit as ever.
Seriously Find Her, Keep Her is the best script I have ever seen in any show. It’s perfectly balanced so that anyone of any age can relate to it. It’s real and heartbreaking and perfectly suitable for small children to understand. There’s no shock value, no darkness, no modern satire, but its far more mature and complex and deep than anything TTS has tried.
Also Rabbit is a far better father than any dad in this show, while still being cut from the same trope. There’s no shame in being a children’s show when its done well and this now 30 year old kids show runs rings around what ever mess Tangled is trying to sell.
Eugene Isn’t Exaggerating Here and I Don't Know How to Feel About That
Turns out Eugene did grow up with these guys the same as he did with Lance. It’ll be confirmed only two episodes later. That just recontextualizes everything. He didn’t just betray some rando guys that he held no feelings for, he betrayed people that he’s known and worked with since childhood.
Now just because he’s known them doesn’t mean that they were family to him like Lance, but like the fact that he keeps claiming then as such through out the episode would suggest that perhaps they were like siblings.
That’s ... ingenious. That makes Flynn Rider retroactively an even worse person and gives the Stabbingtons real reason for vengeance.
Only the show doesn't do anything with this! It just makes Eugene an even bigger jerk in the movie for zero reason.
Let Me Reiterate, Edmund Is an Asshole
Just like with Frederic, Cassandra, and Rapunzel the show uses framing to try and make the audience side with people who do unforgivable things.
Edmund is an abuser. He neglected his own son for 25 years. But the show presents him as “funny” and “quriky” and “look at his pouty face, he’s so lonely”....
No!
Edmund isn’t deserving of anything and how he treats Eugene here is garbage.
This show is utter crap writing wise but boy does it know how to gaslight its own audience into siding with bullies and abusers.
Eugene Is One Thousand Percent In the Right Here, But Don’t Expect the Narrative to Acknowledge That
There’s nothing you can do to make up for that.
Eugene might forgive him. Eugene might move on from it. Eugene might decide a relationship it still worth having with Edmund. But the horrible thing still happened and it happened because Edmund allowed it to happen. There’s no going back from that and everything going forward has to be on Eugene’s terms alone.
But the narrative won't allow Eugene that agency.
Even as he makes his grand proclamation about being done with Edmund the cameras chooses to focus on Edmund and his feelings. The story is already priming the audience to prioritize Edmund over Eugene so that when the forced and contrived forgiveness scene comes we won't question it. But it only comes because Chris doesn’t deem Eugene as individual person with thoughts and feels of his own, but as an avatar to fulfill his wishfulment fantasy regarding his own personal daddy issues.
Rapunzel’s Characterization in Season Three is Just....Off
Ok, even ignoring the major stuff, like not recognizing what she’s done wrong, putting her into roles she’s not meant to carry, and making her a shitty girlfriend suddenly, Rapunzel just behaves contrary to her character all through out season three even in small subtle ways like here.
On the surface this seems like a clever call back to Great Expotations, but lets examine more closely, shall we.
On one end we have yo-yos; an invention that’s been around since ancient Greece and is so wide spread across the globe that the word “yo-yo” itself is theorized to come from Indonesia and the Philippines.
On the other end there is Rapunzel. A woman who spent 18 years isolated inside of a tower, because of this she is both ignorant of somethings and insatiability curious and eager to learn. Or at least she was, until striking out onto a year long road trip, and having now been out of the tower for only two years, claims to know better than the entire fucking world about this object who’s existence she didn’t even know about until only a year and half ago!
Like what kind of sense does this make? Why would you abandon the core of her drive and motivation, to learn, explore, and grow, and then call it “development”?
How Did Edmund Get Beat By These Guys?
Edmund took out Adria. The Brotherhood is suppose to be the best physical fighters in this world and Edmund is supposed to be best out of all of them. Yet he’s taken out by two random, mediocre dudes who didn't even jump him. They gave him time to respond and he stood up to fight them.
Was all his physical prowess tied into that axe? Is the axe magic?
If you characters have to be depowered for unexplained reasons for the plot to work than you haven’t a good plot.
This Isn’t as Heartwarming as You Think It Is Show
If Edmund knew where Eugene was this whole time then he could have actually provided for his son. He could have arranged adoption with someone by letter, sent money, food, clothes, ect, maybe even wrote to Eugene directly and kept up a long distance relationship to be there for him emotionally.
There is literally no excuse anymore for Edmund to hide behind. He literally neglected his duties as a parent, just cause.
Finding these things shouldn’t make Eugene happy. Finding these things should piss him off even further because that’s how any logical adult would respond to this bullcrap.
I sure know I’m angry. I’m angry that Eugene is a pawn for the creators’ writing wank-off rather then being treated as human being; as an actual character.
“Nice” Isn’t the Same Thing as Kind, Rapunzel
One could argue that she’s not even superficially nice in season three, but the real problem here is that the show, and by extension Rapunzel herself, doesn’t understand the difference between being “pleasant” and actually being a good person. Outwardly polite people can stab you in the back, can kill you even, and not care, as Rapunzel has demonstrated repeatedly since season one.
Do They Have to Be “Family” for Eugene to Give a Damn?
Can’t Eugene just do the right thing, because it’s the right thing to do? People don't need to be friends and family to care about each others lives. Kindness isn’t transactional. Empathy and true charity doesn’t come with strings attached. If Eugene’s whole arc is about becoming a better person, then making the Stabbingtons “family” kind of undermines this.
Don’t Reward the Dude for Doing the Bare Fucking Minimal
No seriously. Edmund forfeited the right to ever be called “dad” by Eugene a long fucking time ago. He doesn’t get to be called that now just because he stopped being a piece of scum and showed the bare minimal of human decency. Even if Eugene decides to have a relationship with Edmund after this, it doesn’t mean that he has to be recognized as his dad or that that relationship will be a parental one.
Eugene, and by Extension the Show, Places Rapunzel Upon a Pedestal to the Detriment of All
Only 4 villains out of 20 get redeemed in this show. Four, and yes I’m counting the Stabbintions as one entity here. That’s 16 times Rapunzel failed to give someone a second chance just cause she didn’t feel like it that day, and even here she did fuck all in trying to give the Stabbingtons any sort of chance. That was all on Eugene.
The more this show goes on, the more it looks like Eugene is just in love with the idea of Rapunzel rather than who she actually is as a person. It’s a disservice to both their characters but it damages Rapunzel most of all because the show perpetuates this over idealization to everyone she interacts with.
It’s really sickening to watch and terrifying to know that some uphold this selfish brat as a “role model” for little girls. There’s nothing empowering in being an inhuman “goddess” who can do no wrong....even as they do several wrongs and never gets called out on it.
This Isn’t “Cute”
Eugene can’t even have an opinion on a fucking toy!
Look if you still like New Dream despite how horribly written it is this season, then good for you. That is completely understandable, especially since this is mainly a problem with season three and not really in the first two seasons and certainly not in the movie.
But if you try to deny that they aren’t toxic in season three, that people who do have problems with how they’re written aren’t valid in their concerns, than you’re either someone who hasn’t been paying attention or someone who has gross double standards for women in relationships.
This Scene Is A Waste of Time
This doesn’t tell the audience anything. It contradicts what was previously established concerning her powers without explanation and then just throws the creepy girl voice in there for a lazy hook. It doesn’t work at foreshadowing since we repeat this info all over again in the next episode and it doesn’t expand upon neither Zhan Tiri’s nor Cassandra’s characters.
In fact it kind of contradicts Cassandra’s characterization in the last episode as well. Is she a remorseless bad bitch or a vulnerable woobie? She can’t be both. Not in the way show is going about it anyways.
It’s poor time management and poor storytelling.
Conclusion
It was mildly better than Rapunzel’s Return, but that’s not saying much. Everyone’s character is still circling the drain and there’s no escape line in sight.
But before I close out, here is a real world update. I had to quit my job at Amazon for personal reasons and am currently job hunting. I’m not hurting right now, I do have money saved up to cover me for at least a month and I’ve been doing commissions here and there, however despite having more time technically to write these reviews, I’m now having to juggle it along with artwork and job hunting.
If you would like to support my reviews and other personal projects you can send me a tip over at Ko-Fi and more public commissions will be opening soon over there as well.

selfishly mine | requested
⇢ pairing: taehyung x reader ⇢ fic type: one shot ⇢ genre: angst, smut ⇢ word count: 3.9K ⇢ theme: boyfriend!taehyung + jealous boyfriend ⇢ warnings: cursing, dirty talk, oral sex (m. receiving), deep throat, possession kink, fingering (f. receiving), doggy style, praise kink, unprotected sex (be safe loves!), cum inside, cream pie. ⇢ synopsis: after what was supposed to be a nice quiet dinner with his friends, taehyung decides he should put you in your place, the best way he can think of. ⇢ A/N: sorry it took so long, lmao! kinda got into the idea of one request a day sooo, i've just been doing that! thanks for being so patient and i hope you like it... i might’ve gotten a bit carried away...... :]
In the past few months you and Taehyung had been together, he never missed the chance to marvel about his admiration for your fashion sense. If he wasn't complimenting you over and over again about the way you dressed, he was asking your opinion on something that he wanted to wear.
You loved it. The drop 'o' expression he'd pull whenever you were rounding the corner. Hearing him tell you in a deep voice how good you looked. How he loved the way something you were wearing fit you. Just that alone was enough to have your toes curling.
Which was why you were taking special care of you appearance after he announced you'd be meeting his hyungs for the first time. About two years ago he had a staring role in a TV drama. He had kept in touch with some of his co-stars and tonight was the first time you were being invited to one of their meetups; you wanted to make a good impression, because that boy loved to brag. Never missing an opportunity to show you off. The memory of meeting his BANGTAN friends for the first time was still fresh in your mind.
He wouldn't shut up the entire night about how great you were. Stroking your ego each and every time he opened your mouth. You couldn't tell if his buddies were getting annoyed or not, you were too focused on him and how good his words were making you feel.
You hoped tonight wouldn't be much different. Dressed nicely in a checkered red and black two piece, a black turtle neck underneath the spaghetti strap top, you waited in the kitchen for your boyfriend's arrival.
He was knocking on the door only two minutes after he said he'd be there. He grinned widely at you at the swing of the front door, arms instantly finding your waist as he pulled you toward him. “Missed you, beauty.” He mumbled, head nuzzled into the crook of your neck.
Due to his extremely busy schedule, you really only got to see each other once or twice a week... unless he was on a break. He was constantly flying from here to there and then back again, you two hardly had time to take a moment.
This was your first time seeing him in a long while and you had to admit, you missed him a lot too. Which was exactly what you were replying before unwrapping your body from his, going to grab your purse and following him out to the car.
He drove, a leisure he didn't always have, you beside him with your hands joined ontop the middle console. You chatted the whole way to the restaurant, him telling you funny stories of him and his hyungs. You listened, putting your input where it fit and laughing along with him.
Before you knew it, he was parking and rounding the car to open the door for you. His fingers wrapped around yours, a wet kiss landing on your lips as you slid from your seat. You smiled against his mouth, arms going to wrap around his neck. “I like what you're wearing,” He mumbled against your lips, eyes boring into yours. The tips of his fingers toyed with the hem of your skirt.
You bit your lip. Noticing the subtle change within his eyes. Much darker and less playful. It seemed almost random, but you knew your boyfriend well enough to know it wasn't. You didn't fail to notice his lingering stare, constant pull at his lower lips, the curious drag of his fingers over your thighs. All this while he was concentrating on the road and telling you stories.
He was nothing if not a multitask-er. “Taehyung-ie, is that you?” The voice came from behind you two. You stepped back, eyes finding the owner of the words. Park Hyungsik took long strides toward you and you had to keep your mouth from dropping.
Of course, you've seen him on TV. In pictures with your beloved boyfriend, but never... not once have you seen him in person. He was just as handsome, if not more standing right in front of you. He grinned.
Tae was quick to introduced you two. You stepped forward, offering your hand for a handshake, which he gratefully took. “Wow, you weren't lying... she's gorgeous,” His words were directed to your boyfriend. “She's making my heart flutter... just standing there,” You couldn't fight the blush that dusted over your cheeks.
“Thank you,” You smiled, hand slipping from his grasp. “You're... uh, very handsome too.” You felt like an idiot. Of course he knew that, he had thousands of people whining about his good looks on the daily. Nevertheless, he accepted your compliment, turning his back to you two.
“Hyung is already inside,” He gestured toward the entrance and you began to follow him. Tae was close behind you, securing an arm around your waist as you two made your way inside. He held you close the entire walk to the table, grip dropping only when he was sitting down.
He took your hand instead. “Aren't you going to introduce us?” Seojoon glanced at his friend in slight confusion. Taehyung nodded his head slightly, lifting your intertwined hands. “Hyung, this is my girlfriend, Y/N. Y/N, Seojoon-hyung.”
You were just barely able to wiggle your hand from your boyfriend's grasp, offering a handshake to the man sitting across from you before sinking back into your seat. Taehyung smiled slightly when your hand was finding his again.
The three men fell into easy conversation, catching each other up on the happenings of their life, excitement on their faces as they talked. You listened quietly, pitching in here and there. And before you knew it they were turning the conversation on to you.
Your interests discussed, your taste in music, what your plans were for the future. You answered all the questions that Tae didn't beat you to. It surprised you how much he knew about you, things that you didn't remember telling him.
“She doesn't answer her own questions?” Seojoon spoke jokingly and you let out a soft laugh when Taehyung was answering again, “She does.” You smiled, running your thumb over the back of his hand.
“He's just trying to show off,” You grinned. “Tae pays so much attention to me,” Your words were enough to wipe the embarrassed look off of his face. If only you knew that wasn't the case at all. He wasn't trying to prove his knowledge on your day-to-day life, not at all. His intentions was much more... primal.
He was able to mask it after that comment, allowing you to speak and not jumping to be the buffer between his friends and you. Taehyung watched how easily you were able to get along with the two men, laughing at their jokes and sharing common interests.
And he would've been happy about it too, if it wasn't for Hyungsik's constant obvious flirting. At least, it was obvious to everyone except for you. You were just falling into it, being shameless along with him.
He nearly lost it when you got up to switch seats with Seojoon so you were now sitting next to Hyungsik. A lame excuse of wanting to see the video he was showing you on his phone, yet you never returned to your original spot.
Tae tried to involve himself in your conversation and when that failed, he tried to talk to Seojoon. Tried to hide the fact that he was a jealous wreck and wanted nothing more than to rip you away from his hyung and show you who you belonged to.
He hated thinking that way. You were a person and not some prize to be fought over, but in the same breath you were his. You had always been his and now he had to sit there and watch his girl get close with someone else? That was enough to put anyone in a bad mood.
He concentrated on his meal, happy that the table was much quieter now that the food was out. “Oh! Y/N, this has to be the best burger I've ever... you've got to try this.” Hyungsik was breaking off a piece of his sandwich, offering it to you on a fork.
“She doesn't eat red meat,” Tae grumbled from across the table and you smiled at him, shaking your head. “Thanks baby, but I can...” He was scoffing before you could finish your sentence, waving you off with a flick of his wrist.
“Fucking eat it then,” He rolled his eyes.
“God, Taehyung. What's your problem?” You spat. It wasn't lost on you how pissy he's been the entire evening-- making everything uncomfortable for everyone.
“I'm the one with the problem? You're the one falling all over my friend as if I'm not sitting right here!” Your cheeks darkened in embarrassment, shocked that he'd lay that out so bluntly in front of everyone.
Didn't he say he wanted you to get along with his friends? You were! You were doing exactly what he asked you to do and now he was being an asshole? You wanted to scream. Hardly ever, did you two argue and now in front of everyone was when he wanted to do it?
“I'm not even doing anything? You've been scowling since we sat down, arms crossed like someone fucked you over. If you were going to be like this, then why did you even invite me?” He took one look at you, rolled his eyes and tossed his napkin onto his plate.
“I'm not hungry anymore,” He spat, digging through his wallet and tossing some cash onto the table. Enough to cover both his and your meals. He was storming out of the restaurant.
Now you were pissed. He was acting childish and deserved a good whack on the side of his head, because who even acted like that? Apologizing to his friends, you stood from your seat and exited behind him-- surprised to see he didn't drive off with how ridiculous he was being.
He didn't speak the entire ride back to his place. That stupid scowl on his face as his fists gripped the steering wheel. You had no idea what went wrong, you were just being friendly! And now he was accusing you of falling all over his friends? Did he expect you to give them the cold shoulder, ignore them and not interact?
Taehyung shoved the car into park, climbing out the front seat and slamming the door behind him. You watched as he trudged the whole way to the house, swinging the front door open.
Yanking you seat belt off, you were right behind him. You were entering just as he was stomping up the steps toward his room. You followed him, pushing the door open before he had the chance to close it in your face.
“We're not going to talk about this?” You asked. He needed to explain himself, you needed an explanation. There was no way you were going to allow him to act all pissed off while you were clueless.
“Sure, we can talk about it. We can talk how you spent the entire night eye fucking one of my closest friends... while I was sitting right there!” Eye fucking? Was he insane?
“Eye fucking?” You repeated, nose scrunched slightly in confusion. “Who was I 'eye fucking'?”
“Don't play stupid, Y/N.” God, wow. Hew was really upset. You never pinned your boyfriend to be the jealous type. He seemed all too level headed for that. You had never given him a reason not to trust you so him acting like this was a bit... odd?
“Did you forget whose girlfriend you were?” He was speaking when a few moments passed where you hadn't said anything. You couldn't help the way your eyes seemed to roll at his sentence. “I'm your girlfriend, Tae. Come on, I was just being nice.”
Taehyung was standing in front of you, a hand running over the sides of your neck before grasping your chin. He forced your gaze to his eyes, the darkness from earlier had returned. There was a wild glint in them. “Whose? Say it again,” He was smirking. He looked so domineering looking at you like that, it was kind of hot.
“Yours, Tae. All yours.” You kissed his groaning lips, arms wrapping around his body as you pressed your chest against his. His big hands were dropping below your waist, grasping the hem of your skirt.
Taehyung yanked the fabric upward as he was pushing his tongue into your mouth. The thong you were wearing doing very little to keep your ass from being exposed to the cool air of his bedroom. His hands dropped down, one covering either cheek. He squeezed and you moaned.
“Mine,” His words were murmured against your lips, slowly he was pulling back his lips finding your neck. Your fists clutched the fabric of his shirt as his lips painted your neck with wet kisses. Your body jerked when his mouth was grazing over the area just below your ear. Mouth working to form a love bite, marking his territory.
Tae was tilting his head back to admire his work. You jumped up, him quickly catching you as you wrapped your legs around his waist. His grasp dropped down to your thighs, taking backward steps until he was sitting back on the bed.
You sat your body up, straddling his lap as your fingers worked at the buttons of his shirt. The moment you had the front open, he was shrugging it off. His fingers caught your chin, dragging your lips onto his.
He kissed you intently, with a purpose. A certain dominance behind each stroke of his tongue, each slide of his lips, had you shivering. His dark eyes bored into yours as he pulled back from your wanting lips, tongue wetting his lower lip before he was sucking it into his mouth.
“Get down,” His 'no funny business' tone had your toes curling. Taehyung lowering you onto the floor between his legs, the bulge in his pants becoming level with your eyes. You sighed, reaching a hand out to feel him. He was smirking, batting your hand away. “No hands,”
Without a word, you were clasping your hands behind your back. You watched as he brought his hands down, undoing the buckle of his belt before shoving his pants down his legs. His hard cock was straining against the fabric of his boxers and you wanted nothing more than to have a taste.
Your mouth was watering. He watched your face as he took his time with revealing his cock to you. He looked so big with his hand wrapped around his length. You watched, waiting as he stroked himself. His face twisting from the pleasure.
“You want a taste?” His tone was teasing, mocking you. You couldn't find it in you to come up with a snarky comment. You were too focused on his cock in front of you, the smooth slide of his hand, a bead of precum rolling down the side. You liked your lips, nodding.
Taehyung had been anticipating your approval, not even a moment passing before he was guiding the tip of his cock to your wanting lips. You opened up your mouth fully, hands staying secured behind your back as you began to suck.
On any normal occasion, you'd manage about half of his dick into your mouth, the bit you couldn't cover would be taken care of by your hands. Tonight was different. You were feeling greedy and you were sure he'd scold you if you moved your hands.
Bracing yourself, you lowered your head a bit more, taking his cock further into your mouth inch by inch until your nose was centimeters from his pubic bone. He groaned, hands tangling in your hair as he held your head still.
“Fuck, baby... you're doing so well,” His praise urged you to go on. Do more. You were sucking your cheeks into your mouth, creating a hallow as you bobbed your head over his length. His hips twitched and you ignored the sting in your throat, lowering yourself once again.
You continued on like that, taking note of how close he was getting. Taehyung strained to remain seated, curses leaving his lips in heavy breaths as he guided the movements of your hand with his hands.
“Look at you,” His hips began rocking, fucking into your mouth. You fought the urge to grasp his hips, allowing him to do whatever. “So beautiful,” Your eyes were watering and there was drool spilling from the sides of your mouth, but if Taehyung said you looked beautiful... than you must be a picture.
“My perfect girl. You're all mine, huh?” He wasn't even giving you the chance to answer, pushing his hips forward so his cock was sliding down your throat again. You felt your throat constrict around him and grunted, pulling back just as you began to cough.
Taehyung used the grip he had on your hair to lift you to your feet, his body rising along with yours. He was covering your mouth with his, kissing you messily and rough. Your head was spinning by the time he was pulling back. “On the bed,” It took you a moment to realize what he was saying. The firm slap on your ass put a pep in your step-- while pulling a yelp from your lips.
You lowered your body onto the mattress. Turning around at the gesture of his hand. You shifted onto your knees and elbows, face resting against the pillow as you awaiting his next move. Your heart pounding as you felt the dip of the mattress.
“You're so wet, baby. Look at your panties sticking to your pussy,” You heard the laugh in his voice, felt the tips of his fingers brush over your slit through your soaked panties. He rubbed his knuckle over your covered clit and you flinched. “Were you this wet all night? I wonder who made you this way... any thoughts?” He was teasing you, stroking at a devilishly slow pace.
“You, Tae. Only...” A whimper slipped through your lips. He had moved his fingers but only to lower your panties. You yelped, body jerking at the feeling of his fingers smacking against your clit. God. Since when was he like this? You could feel yourself getting wetter as the seconds ticked by.
“Don't lie to me,” And that voice. Fuck, you might just cum on spot if he kept talking to you that way. You were mindlessly wiggling your hips, trying to coax him into touching you more. Giving you more.
“Only you, Taehyung. Just you can make me like this,” You were able to gain enough composure to form a coherent sentence and you were more than proud of yourself. Taehyung seemed pleased as well, two fingers slipping into your entrance as a reward. You sighed in relief, thankful for the bit of stimulation.
You just wished he would go faster. There was no way you'd cum when he was fucking you so slow, fingers just barely brushing over the sweet spot deep inside of you. He knew that he was driving you insane too, that stupid smirk never leaving his face.
His hand was quick to still your hips that greedily tried to get more than what he was willing to give to you. “Don't be greedy. You're not cumming on my fingers,” He began spreading them, stretching you out nicely.
“I'm just getting you ready. Although, I don't think I even have to...” He was sliding his fingers out, your arousal displayed in a thin line connecting his fingers. “I've never seen you this wet,” You watched as he pushed his fingers into his mouth, licking them clean.
“Tae, please.” You were gasping, pushing out toward him. Thank God, it seemed like he was tired of waiting as well. His big hand grasping his cock and moving to crouch down behind you. Inch by inch, he was sinking inside of you.
“See that?” He sounded a bit winded, finally being inside of you definitely effecting him. “I just slide right in... you were made for me, baby.” He was pulling his hips back until it was just his tip left. Quickly thrusting forward and making you gasp, “All mine.” His hands found your hips, gripping them as he settled for a pace.
Taehyung was not holding back. No not tonight. Each snap of his hips had you jolting forward, the firm grip he held on your hips the only thing keeping you from falling forward. Fuck, it felt so good. He was being so rough, so dominant and it was driving you wild. You knew, even before you had started, you knew you wouldn't last long... the build in your lower belly only proving you right.
“Close already, baby?” He could feel the way your pussy clenched around his cock. You nodded your head quickly, whines leaving your lips. Whines that you had tried to make sound like you asking for permission to cum.
It seemed like he understood, his hand snaking around your waist to your clit. He rubbed backwards circles against the tiny nub, the movement of his hips never letting up. “Go ahead, cum for me, baby. Show me how good I make you feel. Only I can make you fall apart like this,” He was right. He was so right.
Everything felt better with him. Not once had you thought that it would be better with anyone else and you needed him to understand that. He was it for you. “Oh! God, Taehyung... I'm s-so... I'm so close, I'm so close.” Your hands grasped his, the pressure building between your legs and traveling to your stomach and up to your chest.
So close. “I-I... Keep going. Fuck, I love you, keep going.” All at once, there was a stutter in his thrusts, a strained 'oh fuck,' leaving his lips as his fingers sped up over your clit. You felt the snap. Your legs shaking and arms dropping your body as you came. He was right there with you, groaning as he filled you. It was warm, a feeling you felt you'd never get tired of.
It took him a moment to pull out, admiring the thick ropes of his seed sliding down your inner thigh. He fell onto his back, breathing heavy as he pulled your body onto his. You felt spent; as if you could fall asleep at any given second.
The two of you laid there in comfortable silence, his hand stroking your hair and your fingers drawing random patterns against his bare chest. “Did you mean to...” You felt the rumble of his voice against your fingers, your head peaking up to look up at him.
You grinned at his expression. Cheeks flushed and not from what you had just done. He was being shy and you knew why. “To say I love you? Yeah, I meant to.” He was grinning just as wide as you, eyes turning into slight slits as his mouth formed it's natural box shape. You kissed the beauty mark on his nose and he was quick to find your lips.
“I do too, you know.” His words were mumbling against your lips. A habit of his, speaking to you while kissing. You had gotten really good at making out what he was saying against your lips. “Love you,” You heard him loud and clear this time. You moved closer, kissing him fully.
The smile on your lips only grew as he kissed you. You couldn't be happier. Taehyung loved you. He was yours and you were his and you loved each other. What else could you ask for?

The Staff of Brandy Springs Suites
Welcome to Brandy Springs Suites- a luxury apartment complex filled with clean, cared for facilities and on location gym, spa, emergency laundromat, and even a recreation room. It was once a hotel, but bought and modified by the current owner it is now peak luxury living. It’s a place that values consistency, kindness, and loyalty. The owner, a very mysterious man known only by Mr. Carter, was already very wealthy, so money is not something he prioritizes solely. In fact, he values loyalty more than income and if you prove to be a loyal and kind person, you may find certain perks and advantages. So, I hope you enjoy your stay and remain here for a long, long time. Nevermind all the tenants who seem to always have ulterior, hidden motives or the ever revolving spa and cleaning staff. Oh, and if you’re looking over things, please do try to ignore the first floor after midnight- and if you go down it’s in your best interest to feign ignorance to whatever noises you hear or things you see. And if you ever- EVER- manage to meet Mr. Carter make sure you are on your best behavior and prove your worth, or you may not leave the complex alive.
TW: mentions of sex trafficking, kidnapping, murder, drugging, torture
The Owner - Mr. Carter
55 - 6’1” - 188 lbs || Caucasian || he/him || lives separate || Weinstein Wannabe
Evil, awful man. Sells victims in the basement of the apartment complex, sex trafficker and if a tenant can’t pay and their intensive “background check” indicates the tenant is not someone that may be missed that tenant will be sold. That being said, if a tenant shows worthwhile attributes that could bring the Owner more money (ie bringing victims, more tenants, or generally having skills the Owner can exploit, etc) then the Ownery may be able to help the tenants with their own, perhaps nefarious, deeds (ie kidnapping/killing someone for them, bribing the police, etc). That being said, only the staff know what he looks like and have a direct line of communication with him. All tenants speak to staff, unless they are unlucky enough to have bumped into him or to have been a direction for his ire. He has no empathy and doesn’t attempt to pretend he does. He’s a cold, cruel man and he makes it known to everyone he interacts with.
Emergency room in complex is Room 002
The Front Desk - Ronaldo Cortez
28 - 5’9” - 196 lbs || Latinx || they/them || lives separate || Golden Retriever Friend
Raised hyper christian american; couldn’t speak at the table or if they weren’t spoken to, couldn’t make or visit friends outside of the church, etc. Because of that they are fantastic at masking or playing characters and very much embodies the charisma of the golden retriever friend, but has an aggressive and vicious side hidden. Doesn’t let the tenants know much about them, but does blind side them with occasional double-sided comments. Great at picking up information on the tenants or on potential tenants from the position of Front Desk. Very beneficial for the Owner. The Owner places a lot of trust in them and how they vet tenants and workers-- essentially the Owner’s right hand person and second in command. Much smarter than they seem and is quite intuitive. Struggles to back their intuition so they get along very well with Lily-- the very person who can dig up the evidence to back their intuition. The pair are largely unstoppable. Their intuition is never wrong and Lily can find literally anything if they motivated her enough. Has never personally done anything illegal (hands on) but has facilitated and encouraged it enough. Essentially, the plan B of the operation should it fail. Cannot legally be prosecuted for any crimes and thus can help anyone who falls into legal trouble get the best help to get away with whatever crimes committed.
In case of emergency has access to Room 003.
The Head of Security - Lily-Anne
23 - 5’4” - 180 lbs || Russian American | she/her || Room 005 || Greasy, Lazy Genius
Doesn’t look it but can pick anyone up and throw them like they’re nothing. Learned to deadlift and hack to prove the boys in her high school classes wrong. Mastered biology freshman year and went on to throw herself into the STEM programs. Won lots of scholarships but never went to secondary school. Can find anything about anyone. Normally quite apathetic but you don’t want to trigger stronger emotions- obsessive to either degree. She’ll either kidnap you as hers (and literally love you to death) or she’ll just kill you in her anger and hatred of you. Wants to push those around her to the brink, control them to the point that they’d do anything- kill or die for her. Heavily sapphic but not exclusionary and likes who she likes. Has few friends, most online, but Ronaldo is one she begrudgingly admits to befriending. The Owner knows a lot of Lily-Anne, but she knows little of him. She mostly digs up the dirt for Ronaldo, in return for a toy to play with and some cash, but she also largely protects the complex more heavily than traditional security including cyber security and bribing/hacking the police. This makes her a very valuable asset and the Owner has a soft spot for her, throwing her a toy to play with out of the blue occasionally if one fits her preferences that the Owner can tell.
The Gym Trainer - Rocky
25 - 6’1” - 265 lbs || Dominican-German || he/him || Room 217 || Aggro-gym bro
Got hired after being a tenant due to his actual degree but also because Marissa had stumbled across his strength and ruthlessness and mentioned it to Ronaldo. The perfect backup and, well, Rocky killed his darlings often enough that the disposal of their bodies was payment for the heavy lifting he did for the Owner. Doesn’t know much, just knows he sees some bitches being taken and he beats some douchebags up. He doesn’t care what happens to the victims, doesn’t know, doesn’t want to know or care. Rent is significantly cheaper and after being the backup for a few years, his rent was waived. He showed loyalty and that is rewarded. Always on the prowl for tenants to trick into the complex and then trap them in the gym so he can bully them. Its a win-win for the Owner and for him. He earns commission from both. Quite handy to have on staff despite his own (willing and willful) ignorance. The rooms on either side of him are often vacant due to the screams of his victims (both sexual and tortured) and the Owner buckled down and sound proofed his entire apartment. Saves them both some stress.
The Head of Maintenance - Marissa Thompson
27 - 6’ - 178 lbs || Black American || she/her || Room 008 || Chaotic ADHD gremlin
Trans-woman and proud. Black and proud. Can do everything a straight white man can do but better. Always has 100+ projects on her plate but still takes on every project offered. Prioritizes well and always helps the tenants in a timely and kind manner. Has never gotten a complaint-- about her work. She, herself, now requests tenants be out of the apartment while work is being done because she’s so chaotic it stresses out the tenants. Loves and leans into the “plumber’s crack” trope when she does plumbing work. Makes straight white men super uncomfortable and she lives for it. Unlike most other tenants, she knows nothing about The Owner or his operations, she was vetted by Front Desk and okay’ed due to her oblivious nature and genuine skills. (Front Desk totally knows about how she’s obsessive and stalks her love interests, how she sneaks into their rooms and frots against their bed while she caresses their skin while they sleep, how she hooked cameras up in her apartment so she can watch them always, how she always helps them first-- drops everything to help them first; but it’s okay, Front Desk can use all that to their advantage and when it stops being an advantage, well, they have more proof against her than she could dream of having against them. This job pays too well to lose, anyway, right?)
Lobby Cleaner - Amelia Moser
21 - 5’6” - 134 lbs || Caucasian || he/him & she/her || Room 004 || Discreet Wallflower
Soft, sweet, and quiet. She often blends into the background unnoticed. Gathers a lot of intel that way and is quite willing to play the bait or honey pot people for the Owner. She’s more dangerous and promiscuous than she looks, after all looks are deceiving. She’s always getting dirt on the tenants, too. Cleaning the lobby and gym bathrooms while people are in them, eavesdropping on conversations, and generally watching everyone with a very close eye. She, herself, has an entitlement to her if you can catch her in conversation, though just know if you are in a conversation with her she’s already got you hooked. She doesn’t talk to anyone unless she wants or needs something from them- though they’re largely the same. Whatever it is, she’s getting it. Loves sweet things that aren’t just pretending to be kind, if you treat her and everyone with kindness but also get shy and flustered or you’re a little bit of a crybaby then- well, you’re her’s now. She’s kidnapping you, locking you up in her nursery, and drugging you until you believe you’re the child she’s treating you as. And if you try to leave- well, she won’t be afraid to take drastic measures. She knows how to clean up the toughest of stains after all.

Disney Villains
Okay so like, I am mixed on it.
On one hand, sympathetic villains are cool if done right and not everyone needs to be redeemed because they’re sad. They’re still responsible for their actions and need to fix that themselves to be trusted. On the other hand, villains for the sake of just doing villainy to establish their power and dominance are always fun to watch. Ex: Jafar, Maleficent, Lady Tremaine, Captain Hook, Ursula, etc.
Live action Disney villains are just stale to me sometimes. For example, I didn’t like the movie Maleficent because you could’ve done the same story with someone else. I liked evil animated Maleficent who felt insulted that she wasn’t invited to a princess christening and like, chances are she wouldn’t have gone in the first place, but an invitation would’ve been considerate. Sure I liked the L.A movie message that true loves kiss doesn’t have to be about romance, you have other sources of love from friends and family. Yet it takes away from the established Maleficent from the animated movie. I didn’t need a sad Lady Tremaine backstory in the L.A Cinderella.
Like Lady Caine I can sort of see as sympathetic villain/antagonist, but to an extent of how far her crimes go for revenge and why she does them. There’s always this line that is either crossed or never crossed in terms of villains.
I liked her story and motivation (I don’t care much for the whole “blame Rapunzel for being kidnapped as an infant because that blame should’ve gone to Gothel, but I guess people find it easier to lash out at Rapunzel cuz she’s right there.) I would’ve liked to see more of how Gothel not only affected Rapunzel, but also how much she affected Corona which lead to Fred’s crackdown on crime which eventually led to the creation of Lady Caine. Maybe a touch upon that while Fred’s crackdown on crime was based in personal grief and perhaps good intentions so that none could suffer like he and Arianna had, it wound up creating more problems than it solved.
I think TTS villains in general has more potential to them than what was given. Even Villain MoonCass has some potential if given a different script.
What are your thoughts on Disney and/or TTS villains?
See, there’s a difference between “sympathetic villain” and “cool motive, still murder villain.” I am all for the latter. Knowing a villain’s motivations doesn’t automatically make them sympathetic, but it does bring to light logic, and goes to show that unless you have a mental illness that causes you to just not care (ie, literal psychopathy) most people do what they do because they think they’re in the right. (That doesn’t justify their actions, necessarily. I’m not attempting to claim that.) It makes them human, and I respect that.
But taking an established villain who is evil for evil’s sake - Maleficent, for example - and giving them a tragic backstory and making them the hero of the story just makes me roll my eyes, especially because they went out of their way to claim that this was the “true” version of the story, and that everything we loved about the 1950s animated classic is biased and deceptive. Disney was leaning hard into “true love doesn’t have to be romantic” in that era, between “Maleficent”, “Once Upon a Time” and “Frozen”. (Not to mention, Maleficent was a frickin’ evil fairy. She literally didn’t need a motivation. She could just have easily been created when a bolt of lightning struck the shadow of a thorn bush, and because she’s a magical creature, that’s literally all the logic you need as to why she’s evil.)
When it comes to Cinderella’s stepmother (generally speaking, not Disney-specific), I was fond of how they handled it in “Ever After.” Baroness Rodmilla gives you a glimpse into her past. Her mother was hard on her, so that’s what she knows. We catch the smallest glimpse, the hint that she genuinely loved Danielle’s father, but she makes a point of masking it with cruelty. We understand her motivations are based on fear of losing her standing in society and jealousy that her new husband loved his daughter more than he loved her. (Which, come on. But it’s still a proper motivation.) This did not make her sympathetic, though, because she still chose to be cruel and abusive to Danielle.
Most of the most balls-out evil-for-evil’s-sake Disney villains are a combination of wanting power and having magic. “I want power, I have magic, let’s do this.” (I do love how Maleficent’s motivation is a petty grudge over a slight, though.) But they can even use that formula and back it off to “cool motive, still murder.” Look at Dr. Facilier. He wants power, he has magic. But his motivation is literally that life’s not fair for Black people. He’s tired of having to beg for scraps. But instead of using that motivation for the greater good to uplift the Black community of New Orleans, he’s using it to elevate himself, alone.
It seems to me that Disney is making a point of adding depth and tragedy to their villains in the live action remakes. Gaston has PTSD from the war, for example. He literally didn’t need that development. He was an asshole because he was a handsome, skilled business owner in a small town and felt entitled to anything he wanted. In the original movie, he was a warning about the kinds of things gay men have to deal with regularly. The whole story of Beauty and Beast, as Howard Ashman saw it, was facing the societal struggles and self hatred gay men in the 80s and early 90s had to face. The live action version didn’t make me care about Howard Ashman at all. I shudder to think what they have planned for Gothel. Are they going to make it, “Oh, boo hoo, many (hundreds of) years ago, I was slighted by a man because I got a wrinkle, so now my entire goal for centuries has been to stay young and beautiful while not making any meaningful connections to people for fear of being slighted again”? Ugh.
I agree that TTS’ villains had more potential than they were given, to a one. It was a case of too many cooks (or in this case, villains) spoil the broth. Because they had to make the series somewhat episodic, they also had to have villain of the week syndrome, which in turn gave them too many characters to explore and not enough time to give them each the spotlight they deserved. When we first learned about Saporia, I was so hyped, because all of a sudden there was this political factor that I hadn’t been expecting, and I was really excited to see where it would go. Then it was brought up again, once. I loved the fandom theory that Caine and Andrew would team up in jail and break out, then have an uprising. And while that came partially true, it could have been richer and fuller. Giving Demanitus and Zhan Tiri shared followers was a stroke of genius, but giving each a single story (Matthews’ just happened to be three episodes long) and never show their faces again was a let down. The story would have done better to be streamlined overall.
Recently, @auransmoltenhair made a post about how the series’ biggest folly was not knowing where it was going before they actually started writing for it. They changed too much about it on a whim instead of falling back on what they’d already established in the series. And I understand that the higher ups were demanding it be somewhat episodic so they could show reruns in whatever order they felt like (which turned out to be no order, since the didn’t tend to show reruns), but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t have known where the story was going before they started. And yeah, they already had some plot points they wanted to explore (like Eugene being a prince, that was set in stone from the beginning), but they didn’t even know exactly what direction Cassandra was going in by “Challenge of the Brave.” They didn’t know what they wanted to do with Adira, and rather than figure that out before hand, they winged it, then abandoned her as soon as S2 was done, only to bring her back as a plot device rather than a character.
Wow, I’ve rambled on for a long time. lol Sorry about that.
TL;DR - Evil for evil’s sake villains = good. Villains with an understandable motivation who chose the wrong path = good. Established villains who are remade to be sympathetic, especially if they’re also made to be the heroes of the story = bad.
