Hello red I hope you are doing good! I wanted to ask about your Navariah dr.
Whats it like there?? Can you tell us story-times or anything of the sort? It sounds magical and I would like to know more :)
-đŞ
Sorry this took me so long to answer, it's been a weird couple of days. Anyway! I also got this question here đđ˝ I'll be answering both.
What is it like in Navariah?
In Navariah, the continent is one absolute humongous landmass and is the only one on the planet. There are islands all around the borders and coastlines, some even sort of far from the landmass that belong to Navariah.
In Navariah, there are different breeds of humankind. Lizardis, Deer folk, Eleven's and a race that had gone extinct - the coal.
In Navariah, schooling and education is free. There you're allowed to use your Magic (Soul) for whatever you desire, and can turn that into anything. The place is so large that the difference in geography depends on where exactly you are in Navariah, you can experience, learn, and work with different things.
In Navariah, I am one of the two military commanders/generals, I work under the royals. There are 26 military squads that work in specific areas to keep Navariah running as smoothly as possible.
In Navariah, there are things that I couldn't have ever dreamt about before shifting there. The way Magic, Culture, and the history of Navariah is embedded into everything you'll ever encounter there is unlike anything I've seen. It grew on me of course, hence why I stayed for so long LMAO.
How has being in a different reality other than my Cr for so long, changed me?
Over the years I spent in Navariah, I went to school. I graduated. I gained knowledge of stuff that is taboo here. I fought. I met people. I experienced life in a completely different light than ever before. The literal chemistry of my brain, has changed due to my time spent in Navariah.
See it this way, imagine you spend your entire life in one country with specific things that were practically drilled into your mind since birth. You understand life on earth, in that country surrounded by that land and it's people/culture from a first person view, you know nothing else as personally as you know your home. Then, all of the sudden you make the split decision to drop everything. I mean everything, and leave to another country across the world where things are like white to black in comparison to your old home. You're forced to learn the basics of that land, you're forced to start from scratch as everyone else did there. You grow over time, you begin to understand and SEE things differently than you did before - you gain a specific perspective. That, is exactly what happened when I shifted to Navariah. It was bound to happen you guys, almost a whole decade? Of course I'd be different than before I shifted.
I find myself genuinely thinking about Navariah every single day since I shifted back. It's in everything I do, as if I had just gotten back from that (at first) foreign country and had HELLUVA time and still remember everything like it was a suupperrr long but very enjoyable and productive vacation.
Thank you all for reading this yap. Happy Shifting!

(via @aq2003)
I do generally agree with opâs point about queercoding villains in media; it hasnât stood the test of time because with growing acceptance weâve just come to see those characters as cunty or whatever. it kind of devalues what actually made that character a villain. however I have to lean more toward aqâs point here; I donât think âtaking the gay out ofâ richard would really work in this instance⌠because heâs not a villain?
I mean, he was a shitty king and an asshole, but the whole play kind of revolves around the fact that they humanized him by the end.
Iâve said it enough times and so has aq2003 here, but âthe pointâ is that richard goes from unsympathetic to extremely sympathetic. not because he does some righteous action to warrant this change of heart, but due to the way shakespeare frames the narrative. he purposefully gives you an obnoxious bitch you should hate, but then doesnât give you the satisfaction of seeing his downfall. instead, by the end, youâre left feeling sad for him.
I think itâs interesting to consider how that puts the queercoding in a slightly different perspective. shakespeare baits in the stereotypers with the stereotype, and once heâs got them where he wants them, hits them in the face with these raw displays of humanity. he forces them to confront the fact that, gasp, they are sympathizing with the queer character.
in a social climate (england ~400 years ago) where queerness was seen as nothing but sinful, richard ii subtly made the audience sympathize with a queercoded character!
the whole switch up also makes you stop and confront how you actually feel about the guy. all those reasons you thought you hated him, whether it be his arrogance, his pettiness, his fail twink swag; they donât actually matter. after all, he didnât get more sympathetic because he stopped being a gay little freak. he got more sympathetic as he lost power. the real problem was power.
while I agree that this doesnât work as well for modern audiences because we probably like him a little too much right from the get go, I donât think the modernized equivalent would be to make him a nepo baby, or a tory, or whatever. I donât know about you, but if I saw a play that had the objective of making me feel bad for a tory, I would gift the playwright a box of my own shit in the mail. the play needs you to hate him at first, yes, but also to have the ability to sympathize with him by the end. and I feel like in this social climate, no oneâs getting sympathetic for a republican.
am I making sense??? do you get what I mean?????
also there is something to be said about the fact that half the reason they deposed him in the first place was because he was too âqueerâ!! thatâs a whole other angle of analysis in which him being queercoded is literally essential to the plot. but Iâll leave that analysis to someone else.
one last thing, though: letâs not forget, this is a historical play at the end of the day. you canât really take queerness out of this story, because, drum roll, the real richard was probably a bit fruity! robert de vere is often named as a potential lover of his. this is still kind of debated, but even if it isnât true, him being deposed for being too âqueerâ very much is. they literally didnât like him back then because he was too âeffeminate.â he tried to stop the war. he prioritized the arts in his court. he was born in france.
so I guess the real fail twink swag⌠was in our history books all alongâŚ
I know that Richard2Shakespeare is played as an obnoxious little twink for political and drama reasons (youâre telling me a queer coded this tragedy etc) and to let the actors chew the scenery a bit, and the indecisiveness is a tragic flaw that sets him apart from the clear penetrating masculinity of eg Bolingbroke etc etc. itâs great that there is a whole play about âthe deserved downfall of cunty little maximalist who changes his Starbucks order 3 times with a huge line behind him.â However, I have forgotten what I was great revelation I was going to write here, so here are some richard2shakespeares I found while trying to remember
#i adore the terminology in this post#cunty little maximalist#little gay freak#fail twink swag#the subversive spookiness of the twink in torment#also#would you believe me if i said itâs 3 am and iâve been writing and rewriting this post for 2 and a half hours#special interest is special interesting tonight#shakespeare#richard ii#shakespeare richard ii#queer coding#long post#shakespeare analysis#david tennant richard ii

Blind Man Cassidy and his fortunes
If you play red dead two, which I assume you do if you come across this post, you will without a doubt have come across Blind Man Cassidy, the blind fortune teller standing on the side of the road in the middle of shit-fuck nowhere (srs how does he get all the way out to Tumbleweed?) all acorss the map, willing to tell you a fortune for a mere dollar.
At first glance these fortunes seem pretty useless, even the protagonists brushes them off without thinking more about them, however when you know the full story they actually make quite a good amount of sense, so here are my enterpretions of them
Arthur's fortunes
"Make your final moments your best moments, sir. Know glory and forget about shame."
Living life how you wish to live. Arthur stands with a choice, on one hand he wants to rip loose from Dutch and help the Marstons but on the other hand he is scared of what Dutch thinks because that is still his father. I feel this is "know the glory of helping and forget the same your father will cast on you."
"You must decide between your past and others' future, friend. Decide, for soon it will be too late."
Arthur's past is that of crime and of loyalty, one he would likely have continued if it wasn't for the events of rdr2, however following that life of crime would have gone in the way of something else, helping John. He has to decide if he wants to continue to live the life he has always lived by Dutch's side but leaving John to his own or if he wishes to stand by John and leave Dutch.
"That which is killing you will help you, finally, to see. And see clearly, friend. See and hear."
Tuberculousis. The TB is quite literally killing him but it is also helping him realise everything that is wrong around him.
"Your father is seduced by the one with the forked tongue... it's no use hoping."
The one with the forked tongue means the snake, which in this fortune is a reference to Micah who is the liar and manipulator seducting Dutch... And it seems Cassidy knew that Dutch was lost even before Arthur did.
"Your whole life, sir, you have followed the wrong star."
Dutch has quite literally been Arthur's guiding star his entire life, he has followed his footsteps, done everything he asked, stood by his side, so on and so forth, but in the end it wasn't Dutch that Arthur should be following, he gave him nothing but hurt.
"Your whole life is one of regret... but it can end better than it began."
Arthur has regretted a lot in life, we can read that in his journal. Wishing he stood by Mary, wishing he was a better rather to Isaac, wishing he saw Dutch for who he was earlier, but as Charles said, he is lucky to know he is dying because now he can change what kind of man he is.
"You are not who you think you are, sir... which is lucky."
Arthur often says he is a bad man, that he is no good and a mere killer, but he isn't. A terrible man would never do the things he did, would never help like he did, which is good because a lot of the gang relied on Arthur to be good.
"Bad news awaits you, sir. Sadly, sooner than you think. But beyond the news, paradise awaits. Paradise..."
Bad news would in this fortune be TB, it is coming for him and there is nothing he can do, but beyond those news of terror comes something else, truth, clarity, the knowledge of what he must do and what really happened. Another interpreation of "paradise" could be death, while it would seem like bad news Arthur does mention that he has longed for death for a long time which isn't surprising considering he has been working his ass of his entire life and might just need a break, even an eternal one.
"Run from the seeker, sir. Run and keep running, or help others to run."
Dutch always sees himself as a seeker, he even says so, a seeker of truth, the seeker Arthur must run from, so either he must run (likely to Mary) or he must stay and help others, help the gang when the time comes.
"You didnât run when last we spoke, sir. You didnât run far enough."
- He didn't leave, he didn't go with Mary so now the choice is made for him, he must help the others.
"Keep moving, sir. Keep moving... but donât move too fast."
I think this is a fortune everyone needs to hear, outlaw or not, 1899 or not. We all we need move forwards, we all need to keep moving, but often times while we keep moving with a certian goal in mind we forget to live. We keep running and running and at some point we forget to live in the moment, we disappear from the present, shut down until we reach a future we will disappear from when we reach. For Arthur it is even more important that he doesn't disappear from the present because he doesn't have a future.
"You keep hidden all that matters, sir. Maybe even from yourself..."
Arthur is a fairly private person, he doesn't share that much, however what matter is him, is his emotions, yet he doesn't tell them to anyone, he doesn't show himself or his feelings to anyone, particuarlly in the end he is closed off, also to himself.
"I sense great confusion in you, sir. Great confusion. Not... because you... do not know, but because you are afraid of what you know."
The great confusion comes from the fact that he knows Dutch is gone far before he is actually ready to accept it. Him and Hosea discuss it as early as chapter one, he knows Dutch is gone, but he doesn't quite accept it.
"I see the morrows and see them clearly, sir. Even when all reason is lost, and all truth has become lie, you will stand firm. For loyalty is both your saving and your curse."
Throughout the game everything Arthur believes in will be turned upside down, Marston will be good, Dutch will be bad, Hosea is gone and Micah is still there, but he doesn't waver. Arthur will stand tall, loyality has always been his thing and it will help him save others and help him keep his head clear in the end, but it will physically kill him.
"Be warned, sir, be warned. Surrounded by fields of burning fire and flesh, the devil will make his sacrifice."
I hear many say this is about Eagle Flies, however I would like to think that this is more about Dutch leaving Arthur in the middle of the chaos they have created. Everything is strange, things are off, no one trusts one another and then Dutch leaves Arthur, both emotionally and physically.
"Be warned, sir, do not slumber too deeply... for the man with no nose is coming for you."
The man with no nose is death and if Arthur relaxes too much he will die, his body will give out on him.
"Just as evil begat evil your whole life long, so good may beget good."
Arthur has done a lot of evil throughout his life and that evil came back to him, evil causes evil. However in the end when he did good, he will also get good back, it will set off a chain of good.
Marston's fortunes
"You have learned the most important lesson of all. That only one thing matters and all else is lies."
Family is the most important thing. John has gone through hell and back but the one thing it taught him was that his family was worth it.
"Embrace those who love you, not the memory of those who pretended to."
Once again this is family related, John should stop chasing and obsessing over Dutch who did nothing for him, but rather focus on those who do love him, his family.
"You remember the past at the expense of the future."
While I do think that even if he hadn't gone for Micah that he would have been found at some point, John going after Micah, remembering the future, did speed up the process that ended up killing his family.
"Youâre a fool, fiend. But not so much a fool as you think, nor such a fiend. The past is done, the future is yet to come."
The past is done, 1899 is done, the future has yet to come, 1911.
"They will come for you, friend. When they do, you will not have a choice. But you have lived better than most."
When the Pinkertons come to take John's life he will have no choice, he will be trapped and he will die, but he can comfort himself on the fact that he had a loving family, a good home and people who liked him.
"Two strangers seek thee. One from this world... perhaps one from another... One brings hatred... I'm not so sure what the other brings"
One from this world, one who is human, Edgar Ross, and one who is not, The Strange Man. They know what Edgar wants, but they don't quite know what The Strange Man wants.

ŕ§ŕ. . . SORORAL âââ Platonic! Harley Quinn
âš ŮŹÂ Headcanon. Harley showed up at your door after years, broken by the Joker, and you, with more patience than common sense, took care of her. At the end of the day, no matter the fights or crimes, you were two inseparable souls, always ending up on the couch, reminding each other that sisterly love heals all.
âš ŮŹÂ Word Count. 2.14k
âš ŮŹÂ Content. MDNI. Violence, Blood, fights, drugs, toxic relationships, mental health, criminal behavior, past traumas, normalization of the self-destructive component.
ă (Adj.) Like a sister ă
You met Harley in college. The first time you talked was because you shared the same team project⌠and also a hatred for the same professor. It was all downhill from there. For everyone else, that is. You were at your best.
You were the Watson to her Sherlock, the Robin to her Batman, the salt on the edge of her daisy. Harley talked and you nodded, but not because you were quiet, but because no one had the energy to keep up. You tried to interrupt her once and ended up going on a two-hour monologue about why bats are adorable, all without taking a breath.
You were there for everything. Her first cry over a boyfriend who wasnât worth it (and whose social media you hacked with brotherly love). Her yelling in the cafeteria about how her parents were the worst dynamic duo ever. Her fights with other students, where you just picked up her stuff and said, âYouâre still alive, right? So letâs go.â
You were inseparable. You were her rock and she was your... earthquake. An explosive friendship, literally at one point. But then he came along. The guy with the green hair.
You heard about it on the news. "The Clown Prince of Crime Has a New Partner." At first you didn't believe it. Harley wasn't that kind of girl. But when you saw her picture with her makeup smeared and that crooked smile, you knew. Your Harley was there, buried under tons of chaos.
That day, at the medical center where you worked, you broke a cup. Not because you were being dramatic, but because it was the only way to make the pain feel real.
And then you understood: Harley wasn't anyone's Watson. She was always her own Sherlock, and now she was solving a case that was tearing her apart.
The reunion was a coincidence. Well, coincidence for her. You were leaving work, a long and boring shift, when the sound of a loud laugh made your blood run cold. You saw her leaning against your car, wearing a red leather jacket, torn tights, and a baseball bat that she was spinning between her fingers as if she was deciding whether to use it on you or not.
âFriend!â she shouted, as if it hadnât been years since you last spoke and as if she wasnât on the countryâs most wanted list.
You didnât know what to say. Harley threw herself at you before you could react, the smell of gunpowder and something sweet permeating the air. It was as if nothing had changed⌠but everything had changed.
You tried to pretend it was like before. You chatted for a while, forcing a smile while she talked non-stop, as always. She told you how she had âdeconstructedâ a bank last week, how Joker had said something âso romanticâ that she almost cried, and how Commissioner Gordon âneeded to relax, because, hey, a little dynamite never killed anyone⌠well, not many people.â
The Harley you knew was still there, but she was buried under layers of insane laughter and chaos. Her world was no longer yours.
âWhy so quiet?â she asked at last, tilting her head like a curious child.
âHarls⌠I canât do this.â
The silence that followed was strange. She looked at you as if you had spoken in another language.
âOh⌠thatâs why, isnât it? âŚBecause Iâm a âcriminalâ now.â
You didnât answer. You didnât have to.
She smiled, but not in the way you remembered. This smile was broken, crooked, as if she was trying to convince herself that she didnât care.
âItâs okay, you know. I donât need everyone to understand me. I have Mr. J. And he understands me better than anyone.
That hurt more than you wanted to admit. But not more than watching her turn around, the bat resting on her shoulder as she walked away, humming a song you didnât recognize.
Harley didnât look back again. Not because she didnât care about you, but because she didnât have room in her mind for you anymore. She had filled every corner with it, and you knew there was no way to compete with that.
And you, as much as it hurt, didnât look back either.
Years had passed. A monotonous routine was your life. The medical center, the long hours, the patients who needed an ear more than a prescription. It didn't bother you, not at all. Listening was something you were always good at, and the idea of ââa partner seemed far away. Between double shifts and sleepless nights, where was there room for romance?
It was a night like any other. Your apartment was silent, except for the sound of the rain hitting the window. You had left a forgotten tea on the table and were about to pick it up when you heard a knock on the door. Not a polite knock, but something desperate, insistent.
When you opened it, you saw her. Soaked, shaking, her makeup running from tears mixed with the rain. Harley. Your Harley.
"He left me," was the first thing she said, her voice broken and trembling.
You didn't know what to do at first. It was like time had gone backwards, but this time you werenât in college and it wasnât a fight with some campus jerk. Everything was darker now, more broken. Without saying anything, you let her in.
She plopped down on your couch, clutching a pillow like it was a lifeline. Between sobs and curses, she ranted about Joker. How heâd used her, how heâd betrayed her, how this time it was final.
âI donât know why Iâm here,â she suddenly muttered, looking at you with swollen eyes. âItâs stupid, isnât it? After everything that happened between usâŚâ
You stayed silent for a moment. You knew she was right. Harley had disappeared from your life without looking back, but now she was there, broken, seeking comfort from the only person who ever truly understood her.
âI didnât think of anyone else,â she whispered, hugging the pillow tighter. âBecause⌠because youâre my sister, you know?â The one person who was always there, even...when I didn't deserve it.
That was enough to make something inside you melt. You sat next to her, gave her a blanket, and let her talk. Because that was your specialty: listening.
Harley talked until she was speechless. Until her voice faded away and only the sound of the rain remained. You offered no advice or judgment, just your presence. Because you knew that, as much as it hurt, she needed you now more than ever. And, even though time had separated you, there was one thing that had never changed: she was still your Harley. And you, as strange as it seemed, were still her sister.
Harley didn't leave after that night. At first, it was like having a permanent storm in the apartment. One day she'd come home drunk, staggering around and singing off-key songs about what was (or wasn't) worth it in life. Another day she'd show up with a black eye and a cut eyebrow, muttering under her breath that "being the clown's ex isn't exactly a queen's title."
You couldn't say you were surprised. Harley was always a controlled mess⌠until she wasn't. What you didn't expect was how much that mess would absorb you. You became her nurse, her therapist, her babysitter, and, on the worst days, her bodyguard.
"Why do you put up with me?" she asked you one night, half drunk, with an ice pack in her hand and a split lip that you'd cleaned yourself.
"I don't know, Harls. Maybe because I'm dumb. But someone has to take care of you."
She laughed, that cracked laugh that always made something inside you clench.
You couldn't help but be upset. Because, come on, Harley had gotten herself into this mess. She'd decided to dive headfirst into a world of chaos and crime, knowing full well there was no net to catch her. But it wasn't hate you felt, or even resentment. It was frustration. Harley had always been a big girl, someone who saw the world as an amusement park, ignoring the warnings to "stay off the grass" and "be careful, wet floor."
Sometimes you wanted to yell at her. You wanted her to understand that you couldn't rebuild her every time the world broke her into pieces. But then you remembered who she was. Harley had never needed someone to yell at her. What she needed was someone to show her the mirror, to remind her that beneath all that paint and mess she was still her.
So you took care of her. You cleaned her wounds, you put up with her cries and her unhinged laughter. Because even though it wasn't fair, you knew Harley was learning. Maybe not fast, and maybe in the worst way, but at least she was learning. And if that meant being her anchor in the middle of the storm, then you were willing to hold on a little longer.
One day, everything changed. It wasnât a dramatic moment, or a revelatory speech. It just happened. You woke up one morning to find Harley in the kitchen, her hair in two uneven pigtails, humming a song as she made pancakes that smelled like they were burning.
âMorning, Doc!â she greeted you like they were in a 1950s sitcom.
It took you a few minutes to realize what was different: she was smiling. Not the broken, Iâm-going-to-do-something-illegal-in-less-than-five-minutes smile, but a genuine smile. Harley was Harley again.
Sure, she was still a criminal. She wasnât going to change overnight, and you didnât expect her to, either. But now she was a criminal with⌠what did she call it?
âScruples!â she said, holding up a half-charred pancake like it was a trophy. âNo more punching the bird boy in the face. No more blowing up police stations!â Well, maybe one, but only if it's empty.
You found it hard to believe, but you saw it. Harley was different. She was still chaos, but a contained one. And even though she didn't tell you, you knew some of that change had to do with you.
Then the invitations came.
"Come on, doc! You need to get out of this hole," she'd say, tugging on your arm with the same energy as a tornado. "I'm going to introduce you to the girls."
"Ivy" and "Selina" turned out to be Ivy the Poison Ivy and Selina Kyle, Gotham's famous thief. You spent a surreal night in their company, sitting in a speakeasy where laughter was more dangerous than guns. Selina taught you how to pick a lock with a paper clip, Ivy talked to you about the importance of caring for plants, and Harley was still acting like you were the guest star on her own variety show.
But the height of absurdity came when Harley showed up one Friday night and announced,
âBlack Canary is coming to party with us! You know how many people can say that? Nobody, because weâre exclusive.â
The night was legendary. You couldnât remember the last time youâd laughed so hard or danced with such little sense of the ridiculous. Between Harley trying to do karaoke in a bar where no one had asked for karaoke and Dinah watching her next to you in amusement, you almost forgot that you were with a group of women capable of knocking down a building if they put their minds to it.
Harley looked at you at the end of the night, with a knowing smile.
âSee? I told you you were one of us, doc. You canât escape.â
And deep down, you knew she was right. Harley was still Harley: chaotic, unpredictable, impossible to ignore. But now, she was also someone who was trying to be better, in her own way. And you, without realizing it, had gone from being his anchor to being part of his storm... and it wasn't so bad.
The invitations never stopped. Harley was determined to drag you into every corner of her new life, and she wouldnât take no for an answer. It was like she was making up for the years sheâd missed with you.
Roller Derby was one of the first things she forced you to witness.
âDoc, you have to come. Iâm a legend on wheels!â she told you one day as she pulled out a t-shirt with her number printed on the back.
And she wasnât lying. Harley was a storm on the track, charging at her opponents with a mix of skill and sheer madness. From the stands, you found yourself yelling things like âDonât break that poor girlâs jaw!â and âThatâs got to be a foul, Harley!â But she only responded with laughter, making a victory gesture as a rival player tried to regain her dignity after falling on her back.
âWhat did you think?â she asked you at the end, with a swollen eye and a half-dented helmet.
âIâll tell you when my nerves are back on track.â
Burrito mornings became a tradition.
One day she showed up at your door at six in the morning, a greasy bag in one hand and two coffees in the other.
âBurritos and eggs, doc! The best hangovers are cured with food for champions.â
That became a recurring thing. Every week, Harley would wake you up early with the excuse that burritos âtaste better at dawn.â You never had the heart to turn her down, though sometimes you silently cursed her when the caffeine wasnât enough to keep you functional.
Other times, sheâd take you on her ânormal adventures.â
Like the time she decided you both needed a âspa day.â Her definition of a spa included going to a speakeasy with Ivy and Selina, playing poker with handmade cards, and ending up with nails painted impossible colors.
âAre you relaxing or not?â âHarley asked you while trying to dry your hair with a hairdryer she had clearly stolen from some hotel.
âI donât know if ârelaxedâ is the right wordâŚ
And then there was her obsession with movies.
One random Tuesday, she burst into your living room with a stack of DVDs.
âBad movie marathon. Time to educate yourself, doc!
You spent the night watching B-movies while Harley laughed more at your sarcastic comments than at the absurd dialogues in the movies.
âYouâre a terrible critic, but I love you anyway âshe said while throwing popcorn in your face.
But, of course, Harley wouldnât be Harley without her chaotic touches.
One day she took you to a costume store because they âneeded outfits for friends.â You came out dressed as a pirate clown, while she wore a unicorn costume. They passed through an ice cream shop, a park, and of course, a karaoke bar where she forced the entire bar to sing along to "I Will Survive."
It was exhausting, unpredictable, and honestly, the best few weeks you'd had in years. Because even though Harley was still a whirlwind of madness, there was something different about her. She was more herself. A criminal with a heart, a loyal friend, and someone who, after all this time, finally seemed happy.
And you, even though you never would have imagined it, were happy too.
Always, no matter how chaotic or exhausting the day had been, it all ended the same: the two of you lying on the couch in your apartment, too tired to continue talking but too comfortable to move.
Harley always took the larger end, curled up in a blanket she had declared hers. You settled on the other end, legs dangling because Harley managed to take up more space than she physically could.
At first you tried to watch something on TV, but Harley always ended up changing the channel every five minutes, claiming that âeverything is boring.â So, in the end, you just stayed silent, enjoying each otherâs company.
That night was no different. Harley was half asleep, her head resting on the arm of the couch and her eyes half-closed. She looked at you, somewhat sleepy, but with that mischievous spark that never seemed to completely go out.
âYou know something, doc?â she murmured, her voice barely audible.
âWhatâs wrong, Harls?â
She paused, as if she was gathering the courage to say it, even though you knew Harley rarely had filters.
âI love you.â
Your heart skipped a beat. It wasnât the first time Harley had said it, but this time it sounded different. Softer. More sincere.
âI love you too, Harls.â
She smiled, small and genuine, and closed her eyes.
âIn the end, we are sisters, arenât we? We always were. Even if we donât have the same last name.â
âWe always were,â you confirmed, settling into the couch, letting the calm of that moment envelop you.
And so they stayed, Harley breathing calmly beside you, and you wondering how something so chaotic had ended up being the most stable and comforting thing in your life. Because in the end, no matter what happened outside, how much trouble they got into, or how many egg burritos they shared, you would always be her sister, and Harley would always be your Harley.

Agnes' favorite season is Autumn (there's still a lot to be done outside and the weather is cooler - she hates being TOO hot and TOO cold; especially since she does a lot of work outside when she's not working, she likes to be as comfortable as she can). She can rake leaves and trim hedges and mow the lawn in her shorts, beat up runners and a undershirt in full comfort
Agnes definitely watches sports - follows them? Not religiously but if she's flipping through channels and there's a hockey or basketball game on and nothing else good on, she'll leave whatever game on
I feel like Agnes brings her own lunch to work because it's practical and she can eat right through her lunch (without stopping to go get something to eat - although when Agent Vidal starts working the case with her, they do go out to eat more - double pun intended -) She's a classic sandwich girl; I think veal on a bun would be her favorite
Agent Vidal will drag Agnes to the mall with her on the weekend to return/buy new clothes and Agnes will sit there, bored out of her mind until Vidal comes out of the change room with something on that she knows will drive Agnes crazy and then SUDDENLY, Agnes is interested and focused đ
Agnes' desk/office at work is a scattered, disorganized mess and her house is just as 'messy' but Agent Vidal knows better than to try and get things in order (Agnes won't be able to find anything - it's an organized disorganized mess). She does like that Agent Vidal will always keep the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom spotless - something that Agnes doesn't really keep all too organized herself. Agent Vidal doesn't mind đ
Agnes sleeps in old gym shorts or boxers and a 'free' t-shirt she got in a 2-4 (look up LandShark t-shirts) with mismatched socks and Agent Vidal always has a nice matching set of pjs. Sometimes though, Vidal will steal one of Agnes' old shirts and sleep in it/wear it around and that too, drives Agnes crazy
Agnes' phone is like 6 generations old, cracked as fuck screen and half the functions don't work but you bet your ass she's still gonna use it to send the nastiest, kinkiest texts, pictures, videos and voice messages to Vidal - even if the quality is atrocious
When Agent Vidal has to go back to HQ, away from Westview, her and Agnes have a LOT - TONS - of phone sex. They literally cannot be not in contact with one another for too long, especially Agnes đ

Weird question, but I was wondering if we could get some cute facts for the polys (but with head cannons as how the partners interact without/when MC isn't around)
Ooooh I love this question thank you!! Answers below the cut because I'm prone to writing essays and this got long <3
Beck & Perri:
I've joked recently that they're a bonded pair and this doesn't change once MC is in the picture and their relationship becomes romantic--it simply becomes a bonded trio.
And by this, I mean that Beck and Perri will nearly always be found together in their free time.
They do have their own lives and homes and groups of friends, of course, but they've been best friends since middle school and they really do prefer to be together when they can.
Beck is so, so gentle with Perri.
More gentle than Beck ever thought he could be.
And, in a similar vein, Perri is protective of Beck to the point of being fierce.
It's a little out of character for both of them, but they're a team, and it works.
(MC will also be able to experience this on both ends <3)
I think in their polyship, both Beck and Perri will end up putting in a lot of work to make sure MC feels included. They both love MC so much, and they don't want MC ending up feeling like a third wheel.
But, when MC isn't around, I think they fall right back into their usual habits. Inside jokes, teasing one another, referencing stories from the 6th grade--that sort of thing.
Beck's family adores Perri, but Perri's grandmother thinks Beck is a bad influence.
Kissing one another is literally something neither of them have ever thought about until MC comes along, despite the fact that they're so close. Having someone around who sees them both in a romantic light really makes a lightbulb go off in both of their heads.
Jay & Ravi
Okay so these two didn't become friends until after high school. As a teen Ravi was this quiet shy weirdo while Jay was outgoing and friendly and popular. They didn't run in the same circles.
But once they kicked up a friendship it went fast.
Both of them had been spending a long time looking for something, and they found it in one another.
Ravi needed to connect to another human being. It had been so long, and he was freezing up inside. Becoming completely numb.
Jay needed somebody who knew what was going on but who wasn't on the S&R team. Someone who could challenge them to see things in a bit of a new light, but who could also care about them beyond just what they do for other people.
They actually disagree on a lot! They're very different people. I'm really eager to write the differing ways that MC will be able to work through this--either by taking sides, or by smoothing things over, or by fanning the flames. It'll be fun!
Jay did not see Ravi romantically at all before MC came into the picture. They loved him, sure--he was their best friend--but nothing else. Ravi, on the other hand...hm. It's complicated.
I think Ravi saw the potential for something, but he never would have gone for it without MC. Ever. Too much potential for pain.
Jay reminds Ravi of his ex.
The relationship between Jay and Ravi once the poly route has started is going to depend heavily on late-game events. Which will be delicious.
But overall they'll be very tentative with one another, once they're in a relationship with one another & MC. Shy, but curious to explore this new thing they've got going on.
Jay & Yasmin
I'm going to talk about both the V and Triad routes in the same list because this is already long enough but!!
As I've discussed in-game, Jay and Yasmin have been friends since they were tiny! Alongside Yasmin's dead husband, Seth. Which means that their relationship now is...complicated. In ways I'm pretty excited to get into in the story itself.
For Yasmin, the V route is ideal. She finds MC charming and she adores Jay, Jay's her best friend. In theory. Why not share a partner? I think she'll be very teasing about it, but also she'd be thrilled for Jay and MC.
Jay's feelings on the matter will be slightly more complex. They don't mind that MC is seeing Yasmin, too. Not at all. But they do feel like...well. Maybe Yas is taking this opportunity to avoid talking about the issues between the two of them. For someone so direct she sure can avoid talking about her feelings.
The triad route is a bit different, though!!
Jay and Yasmin adore one another. Genuinely, despite the baggage.
Dating one another alongside MC will be a net positive for them both, once they've figured out their issues (both personal and with one another). They're genuinely a power couple and they'd dote on MC soooooo much.
But, we're talking about them without MC!
One fun fact is that, unlike the other polyships, Jay and Yasmin have thought about dating in the past. They never would have taken that plunge without MC--when the story starts, that's long in the past.
Specifically F!Jay and Yasmin kissed one time when they were teenagers, to 'see what it's like'. This was before either of them figured out that they're queer lol, so they walked away blushing and just like 'huh that was interesting let's never do it again!!!'.
The way it shakes out: Jay had a crush on Yasmin before she and Seth started dating when they were all in school. Yasmin had the inklings of feelings for Jay right after Seth disappeared.
It was never the right time, though, and both of their feelings have long since faded. That is, until a mysterious stranger walks into their lives...
#asks#this i think maybe#isn't exactly what you were looking for#since it's less cute facts and more like...#general details about the polyships#but i wasn't able to come up with fluffy facts without MC#and i love talking about these guys sooooo much#sorry if this isn't quite what you wanted!!!!#spoilers by the way#like. not explicitly. but i decided to get a little silly with it#and let myself ramble about the polyships#so be warned

Okay, I did some laundry, I've had lunch, I've breathed fresh air and taken some deep breaths (did not touch any grass because it's covered in snow), and we're back. My wrap up thoughts of Onyx Storm are below! Be warned it's chock full of spoilers, and these are all my honest opinions. I haven't even given this a rating yet because I don't really know what I want to rate it! Nothing's really in order so sorry about that. But I look forward to hearing everyone else's thoughts!
I loved that the importance of the bond between dragon and human was emphasized so heavily in this book. That Asher called Aimsir Lilith's first love, Violet telling Tairn he's the gift of her life, that even Halden knew that the true barrier to her would be the dragon bond - and especially that when Xaden channeled again, in a way that he knew would irreversibly damn him, he did it for Sgaeyl. To keep her safe, because she chose him before and above everyone else.
I adored the Riorgail of it all. They were open and honest with each other, saying I love you practically every other breath, declaring their loyalty and devotion to each other in front of anyone who would listen. I loved that we got them as a team, facing stuff together and trusting that what they couldn't the other could handle it.
On the other hand, it may just be me but they didn't quite feel like themselves. Maybe because it was the first time we've truly seen them be public about their feelings, but they didn't feel like the same Xaden and Violet from the previous two books. Xaden felt so intense that everything he said gave me anxiety, devoted to the point of obsession. I would actually call Violet morally gray here, but it came out of nowhere; there wasn't a great transition into that change in her character, none of the hesitation or guilt I'd expect.
In short, they kind of felt like my Xaden and Violet and not canon? I loved them, but I'm not sure it matches what we know of them from FW and IF and the change in character didn't feel entirely smooth.
But Xaden IS her sword!!!!
The worldbuilding was ridiculous. Violet was dropping facts left right and center like the details of the aristocracy and politics at play were common knowledge - and maybe they are in world, but if they're that obvious then I feel like those details should've been worked into earlier books. I felt like I was floundering trying to keep up with all the new names and titles and roles.
In the same vein, the lore about magic made no sense. So only the Continent has magic but why? Was it drained from other places? Does it only occur naturally in certain areas? Dragons don't have magic that exists within them - they also draw from the source which? Hello hypocrites much? That was another thing that was said so casually, but that should've been one of those things we learned in Fourth Wing, at Threshing or right after.
There was too much happening with the plot to the point that I lost it completely. The trips to the isles were overwhelming. I know the venin and the irids were tied together, but those two things competed so much that I kept forgetting about whichever one we weren't talking about. Literally just. . . forgot about the venin there for a bit in the middle. We were looking for a cure but we were looking for Andarna's kind but we were trying to stop the venin and we were also gathering allies and making trade deals and none of those points were fleshed out completely.
The ending was vague and confusing in a way that made me frustrated instead of interested or anticipatory. I read the last two chapters three times and I still don't know what the fuck was going on there. So the Sage is. . . Fen? Is Garrick the one who also turned? Bodhi? Brennan? Ridoc? Fuck if I know. I understand the point of the marriage, to give Violet control over Tyrrendor legally, but I'm also pissed at the way it happened.
I know we don't want anyone to actually die, but I literally didn't even flinch when Mira's throat got cut open because I figured she'd be fine. There were no important deaths. Trager and Quinn didn't hit that hard. Not putting any of the main characters in significant danger makes the stakes feel lower than they should.
The fan service made me roll my eyes. I get it to a certain extent, but there were several times when I legitimately kind of felt like RY had been in fandom spaces or someone on her team was just feeding her popular theories to include.
The marked ones having second signets was. . . not my favorite choice, because logistically it doesn't make much sense. We should statistically see at least one of them go mad from the power instead of developing a second signet. And I actually think if that had been included it would have been more interesting! I'd like to see the reality of the risks that were taken to make the rebellion happen, but instead they just got really really lucky a bunch of times?
The use of the word Riorgail in print sent me to the fucking moon. No.
Violet's second signet. . . I don't want to talk about it.
Actually no I do. Since when are signets based on situational need and not who a person is at their core? Was that not what we were told previously? Am I tripping? I don't mind the power itself but I am confused.
Professor Riorson had me on the ground laughing. What the hell was that. There are enough barriers to their relationship, and that one felt too forced (but great fodder for smutty fic).
The characters and their relationships are the standout of the book and the series. I already said I loved Xaden and Violet here, but I also loved their friendships and how real especially the relationship with Brennan and Mira and Violet felt. The humor and the quips and the squad's constant support of each other was wonderful.
I'm holding onto those Sloane and Dain crumbs like a teddy bear you all have no idea. I love them.
Aaric being the one with precognition I didn't see coming, but I surprisingly liked it! I loved him stepping more into his role as prince and seeing how cunning and smart he really is.
Halden was unnecessary but I live for possessive and jealous Xaden.
Overall I think the pacing was crammed and the worldbuilding left me with more questions than answers, but did I still like it? Yes! I don't think it's my favorite in the series but it still was an enjoyable read. I'll want to read it again at some point I think, but not immediately!

crimson nails and red hearts đ - v. h. chwe
summary: new baby idol meets one of the swaggiest boys with the baggiest fashion genre: fluffy (and kinda half-assed since i'm so tired...) pairing: gender neutral reader x vernon hansol chwe word count: 1,2K
âtwenty minutes til stage!â
the loud voice had boomed throughout the room, causing everyone to bustle and begin speaking to one another rapidly as if their lives depended on their speed (which it kinda did).Â
you were in your groupâs changing room for your now upcoming debut on music bank. your company had given you and your groupmates the theme similar to your seniorâs red velvet from SM. focusing solely on the âvelvetâ part, you six were an R&B focused group with a sultry side that was about to be announced to everyone.Â
you were given the position you had dreamed for, which made you ecstatic. what didnât was being the new upcoming group about to finally appear on TV at the music bank show. though you had rehearsed till your feet had grown blisters, till your hair was shining with sweat and your heart practically jumped out your chest, this had felt like nothing more than ever before.Â
sitting in your styling chair, you couldnât think of anything else than the simple lines you were given, as you continuously mumbled them as your hairstylist fixed up your hair. the company had given you a safe style, simply giving you red frosted tips which you disliked at first but after having your hair grow out a bit, it had grown on you (literally). after dying your hair red, you felt as if it attracted bad luck as the next day you were going to wash your hair, the water was cold for a week. red seemed like it had it out for you. as you continued humming, the stylist giggled to herself, as she saw you tapping your fingers to your song.
â[y/n]-ssi, donât you think you know the words yet?â she teased, causing you to turn a soft red as you chuckled.Â
âyeah, i do. i just donât want to forget them.â you answered, causing her to nod as she fluffed up your hair gently. now appearing in your peripherals was your makeup artist, lightly tapping your cheeks with blush as she chuckled.
âi wouldnât forget your lyrics at all. the song is too catchy.â she spoke, now lining your lips with a flattering lip gloss.
âand sexy.â your hairstylist added, causing you to smirk softly as you began to calm down, no longer feeling your heart burst out your chest. your member beside you was in their own world, simply chatting with their own stylists as you tried to relax yourself. the new environment had made you feel somewhat scared yet this was your life now. you had made it and you werenât going to let this chance pass you by.Â
âand~, done!â your hairstylist had exclaimed, soon followed by your makeup stylist who had closed her compact, signaling she was done as well. you smiled in the mirror, seeing the new you who was about to hear the chants of your fans and see the lights of cameras shine upon your face.Â
âhey, [y/n], youâre all done?â your leader spoke, which startled you considering how they didnât even seem like they were in the room till you were done with makeup and hair. jumping in your chair, you rolled your eyes and nodded, chuckling.
âyeah, iâm all done.â
âooh~, then you have to do the thing.â your groupmate beside you teased, their finger tapping your shoulder repeatedly. you raised an eyebrow, glaring at them as they sheepishly took away their hand before you could grab it and tease them back.
âthing?â another groupmate asked, also confused at this whole new âthing.â
âyeah. since [y/n] finished second with their makeup, they have to go with our precious leader and go promote our work to our seniors.â the youngest member informed, chewing candy. you groaned, looking at your leader who had a devilish smile as they held up a basket of snacks for your seniors. you pouted, staring up at your leader from your chair with big puppy dog eyes, hoping they would just let you stay and relaxâŚ
it didnât work.
as you made your way down the halls of the changing rooms, you could read all the names of the seniors who were appearing today and could hear some singing, getting ready for their stages. slowly strolling down the hall, your leader immediately stopped and knocked on the door of one group.Â
seventeen.
you tapped your heels together, standing beside your leader as you were given a small red shiny goodie bag to hand out. looking towards the door, you had met eyes with the manager, who had let you both in.Â
as you both bowed towards the manager, you heard an immediate loud exclaim from one of the members.
âwow! whatâs this!âÂ
âooh~, treats!â
âand people, hyung.â
you and your leader bowed to the group, announcing repeated âhiâsâ and âhelloâs.â after making the last bow, you were met with the eyes of a particular member.
vernon.Â
he was dressed in an all black yet baggy outfit, which had a wide contrast from his members. your eyes were held together for almost a minute, before snapping out of your gaze as your leader spoke up and began handing out the goodie bags.
âwe hope you guys enjoy our show and we can work together in the future.â they stated, causing you to bow and smile, hoping it wasnât obvious your staring at vernon was well, obvious. as you were looking down at your feet, you noticed a now casted shadow over you. slowly making your way up and no longer being in a 90 degree angle, it was vernon who was now closer to you than ever.Â
gulping, your face began to glow a soft red from your cheeks as vernon smirked at you. you handed him the small bag of goodies, as his fingers grazed your hand. looking at him, he chuckled as you looked away, trying to not panic as he was close to your face that you began to rethink your life in that singular moment. you then began to wonder if vernon was singleâŚ
âthank you for the treats!â the members said, as you and your leader were then slowly making your way out the door. as the door opened, before you could walk through, you felt a small tug on your elbow. looking over your shoulder, you had seen vernon handing you his phone.
âi know we just met but uh, letâs stay connected like kakao or somethingâŚâ he mumbled the last words sheepishly, causing you to chuckle. though it was a rule as you guys had just debuted that you couldnât have phones, it didnât mean you didnât have a phone number. inputting your number into his phone, vernon looked closer at your hand as he smiled.
âi like the red.â he said, causing you to look down at your nails, which were painted crimson. sheepishly hiding your face by looking down, you shook thought out of your head and handed him back his phone.
âtalk to you soon.â he said, before heading back into his changing room. turning on his heel, he made his way back in and closed the door. you hide your reddening face in your hands, causing your leader to slowly get closer to you.
âum, we still have more to deliverâŚâ they whispered softly. you chuckled, nodding as you were now practically skipping down the hall. guess red isnât such a bad luck charm.

So, Tiktok's back. After only about ten hours.
When it went down (several hours ahead of schedule, as if plans had to be moved forward), we got a notice praising trump for trying to help the app, and a video from Tiktok's CEO expressing the same sentiment.
This was already a massive red flag to me. Trump was the one who started the TikTok ban idea in the first place. It was literally a part of his campaign after TikTok was used to prove he was lying about his rally attendance numbers.
Despite this, Tiktok has been given a 90-day extension by the Trump administration. This 90-day extension is contingent on a deal already being in motion to sell Tiktok (in full or in majority shares), to an American company.
The CEOs for both TikTok and Meta are expected to be at Trump's inauguration tomorrow. Facebook also started pushing a "link your meta to Tiktok" option the day before the ban took place, and they now have an official Tiktok page after keeping the two companies as strictly separate competitors for years. It is my belief that this all points to Mark Zuckerberg having bought/merged with TikTok. Something that had likely been planned for a while, with last night's brief and early shut-down being a stunt to upset all of us who've come to rely on TikTok for a variety of reasons.
Whether you're one of the 7 million content creators or small business owners who legitimately earned your living off the app, or simply a part of the 170 million Americans (half the fuckin' country) who became attached to it from healthy community interaction, news dependency, or even a toxic addiction to it's quick and easy dopamine (I am a mix of all of these, personally), the ban going into affect last night likely caused you an amount of stress. Anguish, even, depending on your situation.
But now, as of this morning, Trump is suddenly our savior. After about two years of him pushing his opinion that Tiktok should be banned, now one of the richest men in the country and his company stands to benefit from Tiktok sticking around. And so will Trump, with Zuckerberg's money in his pocket.
I'm glad it's back, truly. I love Tiktok and the people I've met there, the communities fostered and the hard-working Americans who've found success on the platform. However, selling to Meta is NOT good.
Zuckerberg is nothing but an elite POS. He does not care about you, his company and all of his apps have ALWAYS been more predatory with your data than Tiktok EVER was. Meta has collected more of it, sold it to more advertisers and private investors with an interest in the public's free-time habits, and has done nothing if not try to monopolize your presence online.
Tiktok's algorithm may end up changing. It may end up having to bend to Meta's whims. Less personalization, more of your data being sold to advertisment that we might see an increase in. Shadow-bans, community muffling, news censorship and political biases being promoted, etc.
I don't know what I suggest doing about this. Even though it would be the best move, I would be a hypocrite to say "remove all meta associated apps from your phone." I can't delete my Facebook/meta account. Not without dedicating a flashdrive or several to saving pictures, videos and posts as pieces of my life from the past 15 years I have been on this website. I know many others feel the same, there isn't really anywhere else we can go. That is by design.
I know RedNote is where a lot of folks went, and I genuinely think the cultural exchange on that app between American and Chinese citizens is a wonderful thing, but I do not feel right about signing up for an app that is explicitly owned by the Chinese government anymore than I would on an app explicitly owned by our own (which, Meta practically is. They just get to hide behind a thin veil of a "private company". One that can pay to control political decisions. Our government is its own private company, but I digress). Bluesky might be the best alternative, but its Twitter-like format is annoying to me, personally.
TL;DR
I guess all of this is just to say; Don't fall for this shit. It's all extremely fishy and smells like Trump raising his approval rating with young voters, and Zuckerberg extending his reach over the way we all connect with each other and raising his net worth. Please stay as aware as you can.
More than just a "haha funny app", TikTok grew to be the most important way that hundred of millions of Americans connected with each other.
It is how WE THE PEOPLE connect. Potentially losing it to yet another leading company in the oligarchy our country truly is, its a blow to all of us, regardless of what political party you identify with.
#shut your trap snippy#tiktok#meta#facebook#mark zuckerberg#usa#america#american politics#politics#trump#biden#posted this to facebook too so#worded differently than i might type on here#but sentiment is the same#at least tumblr is still here#ha#also sorry this isnt fortnite related#i just#i hate it here

I just genuinely do not remotely understand where you're getting this notion that "there's nothing sympathetic about Ianthe" or that "we're not supposed to care about her." Like where is your textual evidence? Because I have literally not seen one single person in this fandom yet who doesn't adore her, and I have a very hard time believing that's by accident.
I've seen people shit on Corona, and even rip her apart to emphasize Ianthe's tragedy without acknowledging how mutually toxic they are. I've seen people fail to acknowledge the nuance and sympathetic circumstances around all of John's stuff. I've seen almost nothing but making Silas the butt of jokes, and only very rarely any appreciation. I've seen people have problems with Palamedes of all people. I've seen criticism for Paul's existence.
I have at not one point yet encountered a person who doesn't adore Ianthe and want good things for her. I have never seen a single person be like "fuck that toxic bitch, I hope she gets what's coming to her" the way they do characters like John. Like maybe I've just been lucky so far, but I'm sorry, it REALLY, REALLY does sound like you personally sympathize with her LESS than most people do and are projecting that onto other people? Or taking "she's awful" extremely literally. Have you never seen or written a character that makes you go "oh they're the absolute worst, I adore them"? Is that just a new concept? I want to understand here.
I typed up a whole big thing about personal theories for Ianthe's mentality but decided it was probably too much and saved it elsewhere, so let me know if you want that I guess, but no worries if not.
For that matter though, what specifically proves that "Harrow is a terrible person"? Because a lot of fans find her deeply relatable, and there are both fans and other characters who don't see her sour grumpy attitude as particularly offputting and some actively find it endearing. "She made Gideon's life shitty for 16 years" can only do so much heavy lifting when we know for a fact Crux and other adults were worse offenders, Gideon was also constantly shitty to Harrow, Harrow was literally younger than Gideon, and Harrow was dealing with severe and untreated mental illness that Gideon personally exacerbated. (We KNOW Gideon is inclined to pull pranks on Harrow and rearrange things when she's out of the room and do other things that were very likely to cause Harrow to need to go to Crux for reality checks, that Gideon is a significant contributor to her fearing she's simply insane, and that she was actively afraid to let Gideon specifically know bad her brain was even though that could have helped a lot of them a lot.) And also when that stopped nearly immediately the second they were away from the adults perpetuating it. I don't know man but I feel like staying in a pattern one was raised in when it's never been challenged says a lot less about a person than how they behave and adapt once it's gone.
Is it because the baby nun who was 500% paranoia by volume between her hallucinations and her recent trauma she can't properly remember and having been raised to be extremely secretive at all times Or Else wasn't ecstatic about being romantic or bffs with someone who she knows killed and ate one of the only other friends she had in cold blood while also dealing with constant attempts on her life? Because even with all that she was honestly still pretty soft with Ianthe. Denying being friends in words doesn't change that she was relying on Ianthe and trusting her even more than she did their God and being fairly intimate with her. Actions should speak louder than words.
Like genuinely, why do you think "we're not supposed to" like or care about or sympathize with Ianthe, or that Harrow is objectively terrible start to finish? I don't see it.
A big reason I ignore all the meta from Tamsyn Muir about The Locked Tomb is that her values system about some of her characters seems deeply at odds with their characterization in-book.
Muir clearly loathes Ianthe, and yet HTN shows an Ianthe who is deeply insecure, scared, and desperately lonely. Yeah, she killed her Cav and a few other people. This is quite bad. I do not think Ianthe is a good person. But I don't find her irredeemable like Muir says.
Hitting on Harrow isn't ideal, but also Harrow is her only friend and flirtation is one of the few ways Ianthe knows to show her companionship. Throughout HTN, Ianthe seems to be trying to make friends, to be helpful, and is rebuffed at every turn by Harrow.
In contrast, while Harrow is less evil than many of the other characters, she is clearly a profoundly horrible person. She is mean and cruel to those around her, she has made Gideon's life absolutely miserable for 16ish years, she rebuffs basically every single offer of help and friendship anyone but Gideon ever shows her in either of the two series (and quite meanly; basically anything anyone ever gets from her is some verbose equivalent of "go fuck yourself".)
But we spend all this time in her head, so we know it's because she's scared and insecure and doesn't know how to handle it. So very much of her behavior is forgiven by Muir and by the audience because of this. A sizeable portion of the fanbase seems to be mad at John for trying to tell her to get more sleep, or to try doing something relaxing (make soup), or even to ask other people for help. Yes, you cannot will your way out of depression, but "try to get more sleep" and "do soothing things" are basically foremost of any serious advice for how to deal with it.
John doesn't know why she's been not getting enough sleep. But he's also a deeply fucked-up person. And yet he's trying with Harrow. Badly, clumsily, but trying. He doesn't really know why she's been on such edge and miserable. But Harrow never tells him. She has John and Ianthe (and probably Mercymorn and Augustine, although they're even more fucked up) she could have tried asking for help, and refuses.
But, Harrow is the protagonist, and we see inside her head, and she's not willing to actually murder Gideon, and she thinks murdering 200 children was bad, actually. So we're expected to sympathize with her.
Don't get me wrong, I sympathize with her. I want her to be better. I like fucked-up protagonists who aren't great people.
But do not, for one second, suggest that Harrow is not one of the worst human beings in this series (behind John, Cytharea, Mercymorn, Augustine, and Ianthe, in roughly that order). She brings an untold amount of her misery upon herself by being deliberately, not prickly, but just so. fucking. awful.

Anyone who knows me knows how meaningful and personal this is to me. You can call it obsessive or passionate either works but either way its important. I said I would start from scratch and redo it all and if this is the only way I can, no matter how hard it will be, its what I'll do. It will be rocky I'm not very good at coding I am doing my best and learning as I go, there will be mistakes. Everything apart from the chapter select on mobile is how it should be mechanically and visually I hope. There are 43 pages as of now, when you are ready press START.
#and when i mean rocky I mean there will probs be issues for some and i will try to fix them#everyone knows its important to me and i literally gain nothing from this#really im putting more into it than ever getting out of it cuz im uh paying money to have it exist now#at least the new version which is like all rewritten#now i can actually prove that it is now#what needs to be changes has been#i want to get to the garden even if it takes 10 years#aleph null#aleph null webcomic#yall have no idea how afraid i am but my need for this to exist overrides that if it isnt for anyone else its for me

not to mention the entire antaam fleet like đ that was the PERFECT moment to show off what the lords could do!!! The antaam fucked over rivain, theyve been a thorn in the whole nations side for a long time now, they would not pass up a chance for payback via full scale naval warfare so that the veilguard can do what they need to!! Sure dreadnoughts are dangerous but at this point they probably have tricks up their sleeve, thats one of the few things they have!
also wouldn't it be personal because does solas not try to blow up kont-aar because he's trying to 5d chess tevinter and the qunari into destroying each other. like. i know technically this would not be incredible widespread news because the attack was stopped, but i don't think the wonderful citizens of kont-aar would have missed the tsunami that nearly hit them and the shockwave that actually hit them. rumors go around. and i assume irian/vadis tell varric. who i think would tell isabela. who would tell the group she leads. who would care because ofc, they LIVE IN RIVAIN, and now know that solas and his followers thinks they can trade rivaini lives* to further his plans.
*while i also think there's probably a divide between kont-aar and the rest of the nation, it's one that the rivaini love to jump across and back over. an interesting comparison to be made here with most of rivain having similar sentiments towards dairsmuid and the chantry. like this is the country specifically mentioned to have a lot of citizens who follow the qun/are non-andrastian + it being MUCH more multicultural and accepting than other nations. any attack on rivain, even if it's a qunari settlement, would fan a lot of flames that solas cannot put out so the idea of trying to him taking multiple steps back because he didn't realise how intensely the qun/rivaini/lords would react is very fun for me. it would have been soo interesting for rivain to be a hub for efforts against solas because of how it's not influenced by andrastianism, how he (or his agents) specifically fucked them over, and (maddeningly for solas) also part of this resistance has spirits who willingly guide them against him. this could have even been a plot device where the door goes both ways and solas finds out rook's plans because he manages to eavesdrop through a seer or something.
and on the spirits. all the stuff where the mourn watch regularly communicates with spirits could have been done with rivain as well, and with different takes on being 'friendly' with spirits. iirc there's a spirit in the hall of valor which is so interesting but it's literally just there for flavour text. THERE'S A SPIRIT IN THE HALL OF VALOR THAT DOES NOTHING BESIDES LIKE. SAY HI. ??? bioware i would have liked to see more spirits and seers and the matriarchal pantheists you have talked about please. and also the idea of the peaceful qunari settlement being pushed to protect the country they are part of and what that means for them as qunari vs. rivaini. taash's storyline could have contributed to this . so A LOT less about choosing a side, more about how kont-aar has developed, changed, how rivain has influenced it and what it means to be qunari. not the qunari agents and fighters that we have seen, but their 'civillian' way of life in kont-aar.
complete waste not seeing any of established lore reflected in the lords of fortune or rivain because i stupidly actually thought we were going to see some kind of settlement and be introduced to a very different cultural norms.. in my beautiful mind i like to think taash is a little taken aback by how badly mages/elves/etc are treated. like they understood it was different outside of rivain (they would have been young when the dairsmuid circle annulment happened right? so they don't 'remember' it themself, they likely heard others talking about it when they're old enough to understand) but until they actually saw what was happening first hand, they had a weird dissonance about it. but what we got was a deserted beach, ties to another faction (wardens are fine!! they are great !!!! the fourth blight is interesting!!!! yet they are not the faction with a lack of info about them!!!!!) and also the hall of valor that exists as flavor text with nothing meaningful behind it besides a pub used in a few cutscenes and a minigame.
#it's just hard to discuss the qunari in general when it is so obviously written to be quote unquote bad#and theyre like. in veilguard. really just reduced to being an invading force. which they were before. but there's literally nothing else#not a single character that explains more about the qun or how it operates + the game presenting choices about taash#that obviously lean towards favoring rivain. god knows why. its not like we know enough about it to choose it#even a quick peek into a rivaini lifestyle would have been helpful. all we know are from lorebooks !!!!#its actually like. 'qun would have made taash into a weapon/they are actively invading treviso/theyre working w ghil+el/shathaan' etc#and then on rivain's side the points are just 'umm. well the lords are super nice. and love freedom... and its also NOT qunari!'#there ARE reasons to pick rivain just none of them are in the fuck ass game. no one who doesnt read the books would know this shit#does anyone know why the antaam are acting outside of their orders. i dont rmb if this was explained or if its supposed to be like#a very severe response to solas and defying orders to 'deal' with a threat?#but god. kont-aar as it exists is so interesting. maybe elements of like .#'the main qun ignore the changes in kont-aar/rivain because it's such an important part of their trade' situation. idk#i just cant see a lot of the extremely rigid qun followings actually meshing with this extremely 'accepting' culture that is in rivain#eg. rivaini seers allowing possessions vs. sareebas#but its said that the rivaini pantheists actually have lots in common with the teachings of the qun (?)#and again. its peaceful. most of the issues that are mentioned in games/etc are to do with the ORLESIAN chantry causing issues in rivain#so it just. makes me think. maybe things have changed and there's a blind eye to whatever happens in kont-aar#or if there are more hostilities or issues caused by their differing beliefs then it would be good to fucking like. hear about it#plus the qun in general is just. worldbuilding standpoint is like. what. im not a guy who knows too much about this part of da lore so#i had to fact check a few things while writing this response and some of the answers were like#just so unbelievable that im choosing to do whatever i want#anyways. sorry. got out of hand. let me know if anything i said isnt true#its entirely possible. my knowledge of rivain is patchwork but this is probably to do with the fact there's not a lot. yeah#god. i have to stop talking now. thank u anon for agreeing w me. sorry u asked me about the lords and i took it as an excuse#to air out my issues w rivain. because tyche was partially built up around that and then none of it even mattered#veilguard spoilers#answered#rivain
