Yeah like I said I should have chosen my words better. (Especially because certain ‘Christian’s’ want to “put Christ back in Christmas” and then also want everyone to celebrate Christmas and it’s like… yeah I see right through that) When I said this post broke containment I mostly meant it went beyond my small circle of anti-capitalist Christian/Christian witch mutuals who would immediately clock that I was criticizing the over consumption part of Christmas and the commercialization of our holy holiday, not Johnny using this time to celebrate family and loved ones. I like to think the people who follow my blog could easily see that because I seemingly only talk about faith,anti-capitalism, and how evangelical ideology has damaged the faith nearly beyond repair. If anything this post was just as much about families that proclaim to be Christian yet only participate in the secular part of the holiday. (I even said as much in my original tags. I spoke about how my Christian Family celebrates in a very secular way and how I was working on not doing that) I should have said something different, but I will admit I still stand by my stance that Secular Christmas does need to go. It’s just capitalism and it cheapens the holiday. It is on Christian’s to work that out, but like me and Santa have beef and I need that man to leave.

Also this is time for me to go on the “I do think non-Christian should stop celebrating Christmas but not because of some ‘war on Christmas’ nonsense” lecture.

Like genuinely, and I think this should be encouraged and supported by the Christian community because we should take responsibility for our colonial efforts, but Christmas being secular is a colonization effort. To a certain extent I do think it’s on people who don’t practice Christianity (especially white people) to move away from Christmas and not lean into it as being ‘a holiday for everyone’ cause it’s not. It’s only a holiday for people raised culturally Christian. At its core the way ‘the west’ celebrates Christmas is rooted in White Supremacy and colonialism. It’s why the Nazi propaganda is so easily spread.

Genuinely encourage you to look into how Palestinians celebrate Christmas, especially in Bethlehem because due to the on going genocide they haven’t been able to celebrate Christmas as usual. Use education as a form of activism and such. Working with local Palestinians orgs this holiday has been such a blessing and I actually made this post right after working with one. I was feeling very frustrated seeing all the frills, consumerism, and colonialism when Christians in Palestine are having their culture ripped away from them. (Especially because that ‘secular Christmas’ is actively harming them) Also because last year I believe that Christmas in Gaza was the day with the second highest amount of bombings, right behind Eid. (My numbers could be wrong but I remember seeing reports that Israel had mass bombing efforts on holidays)

But yeah fight capitalism and colonialism this Christmas and possibly, to whoever is reading this, consider donating to UNRWA or a Palestinian family in someone’s honor instead of traditional gift giving. That’s my spiel (sorry to my followers that have had this absolute wall of text of a post like three reblogs in a row) If you want to talk more religion feel free to DM me.
