#but masumi was one of the reasons i started playing a3 in the first place

i wanted to write some propaganda for sakuya! he's a brilliant poster boy for a3!, and theatre is a really influential, core part of his life.
sakuya lost his parents when he was very young. as a result, he was passed around through members of his family, and could never find a place to belong. sakuya felt like a burden on people's lives, and never new the warmth of family.
sakuya's love for theatre started in elementary school, when there was a fire during a pirate play being held at the school. the actor's will to keep acting bravely, and not scare the kids, really inspired sakuya.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/35f704eefc627c2bb68d8b5926e53a73/0a04738bc814ad15-83/s1280x1920/d925d03e020f71bc11411de6a65e496cb14d76bb.jpg)
this performance taught sakuya to be brave and keep going. that things are not as useless as sakuya once felt like. it taught sakuya to keep fighting.
despite sakuya's very painful life, he's constantly smiling, and is a huge source of optimism. he always tries to support his friends, and has always handled himself with great maturity despite his naive demeanour.
sakuya was the first member to join the new mankai company: a failing theatre company on the brink of collapse. despite the hopelessness of the situation, he wants to fight to continue his dream. sakuya is the very first element of mankai's restoration, and he has always fought to keep it, and to help his friends who slowly join. sakuya goes from the only member, to the leader of spring troupe, one of the four theatre troupes of mankai.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1836bb1506705eca6145c17da39787d5/0a04738bc814ad15-70/s1280x1920/a7f9f112fe7352783366c65949975343847ad983.jpg)
for a boy with no family at all, sakuya learns what family is through mankai! sakuya learns he no longer has to be lonely, and that be is a valued member of mankai. spring troupe actually have an ongoing skit like this, which started as a plan to keep one member, itaru, from leaving:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3aeaf1d3661761c1f4ea572f6f3d528c/0a04738bc814ad15-a7/s540x810/38dfe7cd8a93bc229f4e9a3e0cc1e982d9baf73f.jpg)
it was sakuya's idea, despite him not really having much idea of biological families. unfortunately, spring troupe go through a lot of trouble, and citron, chikage, masumi as well as itaru all almost have to leave for various reasons. sakuya is always there to talk them back, and console them on their fears. sakuya has learned to fight for his family, and nurse the worries of them, and it all stems from the importance of theatre to sakuya.
one of my favourite examples of this is this scene. sakuya relates to chikage, who also lost his family (and did a lot of bad things in his grief.) sakuya can see how much chikage is hurting, and wants to make sure he'll get the same healing through mankai that sakuya did.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d2cc2613fc90c39fbfbe7ec2b85f6e02/0a04738bc814ad15-19/s1280x1920/150b112539256c74b70c0c06b5af85b15fc53676.jpg)
sakuya and chikage, as well as hisoka and azuma actually have a link skill together called "alone in the world" which talks about how they were all alone until mankai and theatre gave them a place to belong.
overall, theatre is incredibly important to sakuya. he's a beautiful example of how passion can heal a person, and how you can always recover from lonliness and find a place to belong. if you like acting, i think you'll find sakuya's devotion very heartwarming. 🌸

Propaganda under the cut
Christine: "She loves acting. There just aren’t enough strong female roles in theater, especially high school theater. Do you find that? Because she totally finds that. Please just listen to the song “I Love Play Rehearsal” and you’ll understand. I love her. She has ADD and she is THE fictional actor of all time. Christine Canigula you will ALWAYS be famous."
"She has a whole song about how much she loves acting called "I Love Play Rehearsal"
"My girl sang the hit song "I Love Play Rehearsal". #1 actress ever. Also ILPR is a fantastic song and you should vote for her because of that but also Christine is #1 weirdgirl who loves theater SO much and has very intense feelings about everything but especially about what she acts in!! Girl of all time"
Sakuya: "theater becomes his escape from abuse/neglect and also his way of finding his own family (he's an orphan). he was the only member of a basically dead theater troupe but he stayed because he had nowhere else to go, and it paid off because more people joined after seeing him perform skits in the street. the growth from first act to the current era (act 12 i think) makes me insane"
"Sonboy beloved, he’s such a good character and his acting progresses so much"

cries think I made my ask too long so like half of it got deleted bc I typed it right into the askbox. anyways. I come bearing a3 thoughts! at first i was gonna watch the spring/summer and autumn/winter ones and then give my thoughts on both but. turns out i had too many thoughts lol? which i shouldve expected but i actually kind of... got bored by the first two chapters of this event! so i skipped and went to the stranger. and then went back. (1/?)
and then i got to like "tsuzuru and kazunari are having a fight?" and jumped on that like a starving wolf bc helllll yeah! i rly adored kazunari in sardine search, i think he was great! hes just so nice and has good vibes. he and taichi are kind of similar i feel? but i think their respective ages contribute to a lot of difference in their characters. why does it feel like this askbox limit personally wants me dead. (2/?)
anyways! i rly enjoyed the improv scene devolving to a real fight. admittedly i was kinda surprised that the content of that improv wasnt rly too similar to their actual fight? like normally a3 has the story of the play run parallel to like the actual real character drama so i thought the improv might function as the play in this event... it was still good tho. the scene i mean. (3/?)
also i rly liked tenma ragging on them afterwards. like he was mean but. first i adore tenma. second he just felt like. a different meddling type to muku lol? like the vibes he gave me were always like... im going to be a considerate leader and watch out for the ppl under me! therefore im gonna make sure theyre doing fine! aggressively. i think tenmas also just like a friendly person who likes to take care of others in general? like im not saying hes omi or anything but just like. (4/?)
that time he offers his car ride to juza so they can go to school together like hes surprisingly open compared to his initial prickliness. also ive got thoughts abt the tenma juza SSR conversation thing i read. one day ill make a tenma and juza fic and complete a trifecta haha... but thats something for another day! back to the actual story. the way tsuzuru dives right in after kazunari! that was so nice. like its easy to see how much they care abt each other. (5/?)
to the point where like even while theyre fighting theyre like angry but still like fairly quiet bc i think theyre both at least trying to be considerate of each other. ah the moment kazunari didnt respond to tsuzuru trying to talk to him i KNEW he was sick tho. felt proud of myself for calling that one but also the reason i knew is bc i have used the "character being sick during an argument causing them both to make up with each other" trope myself before so uh. like recognizes like haha. (6/?)
anyways the cg there was fuckin beautiful like kazunari looks so sad in the middle bit but then u see his shy smile? like hes sick but hes also like. happy to be there. idk. lovely. i adore kazu i think hes just deeply sweet to other people. tsuzuru telling him "you make everyone around you feel as bright and cheery as the things you design” is so wonderful too (7/?)
now im thinking. ah tsuzuru probably feels quite drained after a script and such (i know i am when i finish any piece--its like the emotions just rush out of me) so i like to think that like yknow. kazunari dropping by his room or whatever helps him set himself back to normal! but also when tsuzurus like oh u left ur magazines here! i suddenly remembered. wait shit kazunari and tsuzuru arent even roommates. wonder how much they bother masumi lmaooo. anyways overall very good story! (8/?)
some more thoughts: itaru and citron were so cute in this event! just like. citron saying itaru winking makes his heart skip a beat and itaru quoting citrons wrong sayings (which. i am also guilty of today i told my brother "we'll jump that bridge when we cross it" so) also i love how yuki is like "thank god i wasnt partnered with that hack" but like. yuki. u could literally just not talk about him. like its so funny to me yuki is like wow i hate tenma but he wont shut up abt him haha (9/?)
i also was a lil taken aback at hearing itaru go "for the lulz" tbh... like it fits him. but im mad it fits him? anywaysss thats all i had for this one! im gonna watch autumn/winter and go say my thoughts on that soon. sorry the ask was so broken up, idk what happened!
OLA FRIEND! Glad to see your thoughts again omg :3c
tho omg the fact tumblr deleted it all + the ask limit was all so evil D: poor friend.
I'm putting my answer under a read more because. Well. *waves hand* it got long.
The non-play events can be perhaps a little harder to get into because unlike the plays events that you start with a clear idea of at least the main plot (re: "they are preparing a play, i know the leads so i know who it will focus on"), non-plays events take a little longer to first set up what event they're participating in, how to prepare for it, and then bring up the conflict and which characters are going to have something to do with said conflict. So i can understand that they're a little harder to get into when we know the plays awaits.
On top of that, the first few events still were a bit tame because since it was early when the app released, i think they didn't go too heavy at once in case some people were still stuck on earlier chapters (esp since especially Winter is hard to unlock)
ANYWAY glad that it sucked you in on the second read :3c
So glad you were invested in that conflict!
Totally agreeing with you about Kazunari, and very good point about Taichi as well! they aren't the Puppy Pair for nothing :'D (Yuki took one look at both of them together and just Knew. His suffering knows no end (lovingly)). But yeah i think they have a lot in common, they both are the really bright and friendly figure, both also started in overcompensating a bit because both wanted to be popular in some ways.
But we do have, on one hand, Kazunari who wanted that rather late in his life while Taichi always thrived for that, the fact Kazunari made friends easily and it's just that he was scared of getting to the next level, while Taichi always struggled with this quest for popularity. In a way too both of them were at least scared to share a part of them, Kazunari worrying to show his thoughts, and Taichi being a spy and all of that... which impacts them really differently considering the guilt it puts on Taichi. And then you add their age into the mix, especially the fact Kazu is the oldest of his troupe and Taichi the youngest of his, it makes them fairly similar all while being fairly different.
both are so interesting to me and i love them bothhh, so it's always nice to see them have focus.
admittedly i was kinda surprised that the content of that improv wasnt rly too similar to their actual fight? like normally a3 has the story of the play run parallel to like the actual real character drama so i thought the improv might function as the play in this event
i love how you are seeing the patterns a3 tends to do it's so neat!
It's true the fight isn't really similar to their actual fight, though i do love that they had "swapped" their personality for the act and ended up insulting each other for theirr swapped personality. Like, Kazunari insulted part of himself in Tsuzuru's character and Tsuzuru did the same?? and then the fight escalated and the way Kazunari broke character hurts bc it's really that Tsuzuru hit where it hurts. But yeah it still wasn't too relevent to their actual fight, though i think the thing is that their fight was as such mostly because they tend to clash often due to their personalities rather than just this singular reason why, so to have the play go more "it's their personalities the problem" kinda hurt lol. But yeah still agreed that it didn't reflect much on the plot itself
I was rereading the improv bit to answer correctly and man since we're going to talk about Tenma next, i just. Love that when Kazunari, breaking character, his eyes sad, tells Tsuzuru "you have no rights talking to me like that..." it then cuts on Tenma being upset. Bc like. Exactly like you say, he wants to look out for the people under him. and like. Kazunari is his friend. A friend he also snapped at once and insulted for being who he was, so he probably could have relived a bit of his fight with Kazunari seeing those two fights; Except that now Kazunari is one of his closest friend and he doesn't like that.
Also like. It was also because he could still hide under the plot of the improv but it's so rare, and it never happened before that point, that Kazunari stands for himself in a "the way you treat me is unfair"? Like again re: his fight with Tenma, when Tenma snapped at him, while Tenma was unfair with him, Kazunari took the blame, called himself annoying and all yaknow?
The fact Kazunari is starting to accept that he can take more place for himself is something the whole Summer Troupe have been trying to help him work on, but especially Tenma. Tenma is always there trying to push Kazunari to say what he means, to express his feelings, to stop hiding.
And for once, Kazunari does that in front of everyone... and it's because he's breaking because of his fight with Tsuzuru.
I think Tenma probably felt it was even more of a reason to get involved like, this is the thing he's been working on with Kazunari about, and now he's being all hurt about it, not on Tenma's watch!
And i totally agree with your take on Tenma! (and would LOVE to read the Tenma and Juza fic once you get to it :3c). I think, Tenma is really caring and is trying to take a place as a caretaker and all, but unlike Omi, he has absolutely no reference for it.
Omi is the eldest of multiple brothers and everything indicates his parents have always been lovely to him. Add to it how he ended up leader of a delinquent crew he was clearly looking after, Omi has a history of taking care of people, of nurturing them, and he knows what he's doing. Meanwhile Tenma grew up on TV sets, mostly surrounded by adults and not by people his age, mostly getting advice from being ordered around by directors i think. And his parents are distant, hyperfocused on their job, not really nursing with him. So Tenma meanwhile really didn't have a family emotional support and was in situation where he couldn't befriend other kids his age. His only reference was probably Igawa (his agent) and i think for a long time he didn't exactly see it, and Igawa remained mostly professional so there was probably the idea of it not being sincere? That Tenma had to grow out of.
So like, they're both extremely nurturing and caring, but my point is that Omi has experiences in it and is at ease with it, while Tenma has been so alone and in places were he had no support system that even if he wants to support others, he still struggles with how to do it because he has no set exemple. And that's his development in the main story arc, to learn from how Izumi shows she cares in order to care back at them all.
Like i mean the way Tenma yelled at them about their mistakes at first feel like he would have picked it up from some directors on TV set yaknow? Probably hearing them say that with no consequences on others actors, seeing it worked, didn't think "that's an abuse of power and the actors probably all think badly of their director for that" but "wow that works", tried it on his troupesmates and realized this is... not how that works. And it's spending time watching how Izumi encourages them that have him fix his way to approach it.
So yeah i got lost too into it but like. I feel you on Tenma i love him so much and i love his development so to see him get pissed and involved there? was really nice. even if he was aggressive about it. He's still learning.
ANYWAY back to Tsuzuru and Kazunari, totally agree with what you say next. They still care a lot about each other and yeah they're at a point where this consideration they have for each other make their anger more quiet than trying to attack one another (Banri could NEVER-). so yeah totally agree with you!
DLKFJDLKF i LOVE the reasoning on "recognizing that Kazunari was sick". Your writer's powers making you see through... *coughs* unlike Tsuzuru....
AND YEAH ALL YOU SAY ABOUT THE CG.. YEAH. Kinda crying thinking about it again now LDKJFLKDJF It's just. Everything about it is so soft and tender. The things Tsuzuru tells Kazunari are soo so sweet sobs. They're just adorable i love those kids. and also i feel you for Kazu he's just that great huh?
The whole set up about Kazu dropping by his room is so so cute! I love it! Like probably the very first time Tsuzuru braces himself because "oh no i'm not in the mood to stand mister hyperenergy himself" but Kazunari quickly adjust his energy so that Tsuzuru can just recharge without being overwhelmed. Yes it would drive Masumi completely nuts. Which i think is a plus for Tsuzuru like, hey, if Masumi gets annoyed once in a while it's a win. But yeah also i think that Tsuzuru and Kazunari should really have the Artistic Soldiarity of Students in Art school Probably Working Until Very Late To Complete Their Projects. Would love if at the end Tsuzuru gave it back yaknow?
but yeah their story was really nice i'm so glad you liked it! :D
oh god yeah Itaru and Citron were SO cute in it too, i also love the comments Citron makes about Itaru's winks. Just there flirting in front of everyone like those two embarrassing friends huh. (probably with Muku being all starry eyes considering he greatly admires both Itaru and Citron and, well, Romance.). And yeah i love how Itaru ends up so much into Citron's rhythm (and this idiom you said? is glorious actually, 10 points for you)
DLKFJDLKF what a call out toward Yuki. "yes i hate Tenma,no i won't shut up about him, also if YOU say you hate Tenma i'm going to stab you with my needles, have a nice fucking day.". I love their dynamics so much aha
And yeah Itaru is there cursing us the whole time with the fact he's the greatest nerd ever and it fits him perfectly. It makes me laugh so hard.
Thank you so much for having shared your thoughts there! it's always a blast to read through them and i dearly enjoyed it! (+ it makes me relive the event a little and it makes me soft!)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! So glad you had so many thoughts about all of this, what a blast.
thank you for sharing, and looking forward the Autumn/Winter reactions :3c
Take care!

💜🖤hope ur doing well honey! im getting random inspiration so sorry if i am a bother! An MC that randomly gives them kisses on the cheek how'd they react, but with itaru, masumi, juza, and taichi (maybe kazunari if ur up for it) take care!💜🖤 (o and i might start randomly peering in ur ask because love for A3 is limited and ur a good writer!)
wow tanks for the love!! considering masumi & taichi are still underage even at their oldest in the game/story, i'm going to have to be more careful with them 'cause personally for me, it is a little awkward haha (juza is an exception bc we are very close in age).
i'm sorry and i hope u understand!
Itaru, Masumi, Juza, Taichi, Kazunari Cheek Kissing HCs
Honestly,, it was kind of weird for Itaru at first. Getting a sudden kiss on the cheek while he was playing a game or working on some papers from work always threw him off, and he'd sigh Super Loud.
He doesn't hate it, but fr,, u threw him off his rhythm.
At some point you stopped giving him random kisses because his reactions didn't seem good, and opted for brushing your fingers through his hair as he focused on something.
Due to this loss of affection,, Itaru got a little cranky. He was getting used to your habit of kissing his face and when you stopped it made him lose even more focus,, he miss u
He did have a simple solution though!! He noticed that you liked to sit beside him at his desk, so whenever he knew you were paying special attention to him, he'd tap his cheek with an idle hand and wait for a kiss
Sometimes it wouldn't work because of your hesitation, and other times you'd just flat out refuse because you didn't want to disturb him.
Itaru is regretting being born
Slowly, with lots of gentle coaxing from Itaru, you two would fall back into the rhythm of giving and receiving affection
It puts a smile on Itaru's face when he's working, but he positively grins when you kiss his cheek while he's playing a game; almost giving him more of a reason to become a Greasy teammate and ace the match
He'll even turn his head to mess with you, getting so used to your daily kisses that he almost always knows when you're going to strike next.
He has received a few accidental kisses on the lips because of this, but takes it in stride. Most of the time when this happens, he makes it escalate just to fluster you, and grabs the back of your neck to keep you in place as he bites your lip
Itaru is Thirsty pewiodt
But Masumi is even Thirstier ‼️‼️
Fr the first time he got a kiss from you he gasped so loud that he started choking on his spit not too long after.
He was very eager to receive kisses though and cherished them whenever he got one.
He didn't beg for kisses, but it was evident to you that his attitude got better whenever you gave one, so made it a daily routine to give him at least 3 kisses a day on either the cheek or forehead
It made Masumi a better person to be around to the point that Tsuzuru almost pleaded that you give him a kiss when a practice went awry with high strung emotion
Despite receiving a lot of love, Masumi never gets used to it, and it's always fun for him to try and get kisses from you just for the heck of it
He doesn't ask for it though, as he fears that someday he will get used to it and won't ever experience the same feeling his heart and stomach feels whenever it happens
He's positively starry eyed and flushed too, it's an adorable look on him. He makes a few of the others jealous with how often he gets a kiss.
Juza on the other hand... Let's just say that his heart leaps into his throat when it first happens.
He's at a loss for words, and he stammers uncontrollably when you stare at him with a smile and hold his hand. It almost looks like he's gonna piss himself and Banri points it out with a laugh while Omi looks on with concern
His heart clenches whenever he senses you're near, and when he feels that familiar feeling of your lips on his skin, his body gives out.
He has dropped multiple pastries because you surprise him with a kiss, and as much as he hates to waste food, his heart is just overflowing with affection for you
"You're killing me here." He complains like a child and slumps his shoulders. He's slowly getting used to it, but it still makes him jump out of his skin. It's very startling.
Even when he's gotten more comfortable around you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders or letting you tuck your feet between his legs to warm them up, the kissing is what gets to him. His cheeks are always steaming and he has to air out his shirt.
One time you kissed his cheek and he immediately clicked his tongue, wrapped his arm around your neck to pull you into a headlock and kissed your hair in response. Banri gagged.
I'm not gonna lie to you but Taichi basically falls in love.
The poor guy is so touch starved and lonely that he positively bursts into tears the first time you kiss his cheek, and you end up having to rock him back and forth as you dry his tears with your sleeve.
He whines a lot about not having a girlfriend nor having any girls fawn over him like they do Juza and Tenma and it's very !!! :( hnghngg
So when you kiss him on the cheek, he's shellshocked. Every. Single. Time.
It's hilarious really, because he's useless for the next 24 hours until he gets a chance to restart. But then u kiss him again and– oh look he's passed away.
You two have made good morning and goodnight kisses a routine because it really takes his mind off of some things that are better being left alone.
He's very squishy though so it's a joy to kiss his face, and he takes it like a puppy getting licked in the face by it's mother. Very pliant.
Kazunari is probably the most annoying out of everyone when he gets a kiss. I'm ngl but personally I'd punch him in the stomach just to make him stop giggling
"Oya? What's this?" He'd tease, holding his cheek in his palm with an excited grin.
His smug attitude makes you puff your cheek and you quickly walk away with a huff. How dare he act like that!!!
But when you stop, he starts, so it's almost like some kissing feud is happening??? One second he's jumping to you and giving you a kiss, the other he's popping up behind you in the kitchen and giving you another one!
It almost becomes a competition on who can give a random kiss at the most unexpected time and place
One time he even got a picture of himself giving you a little smooch on the cheek! And he posted it on Instablam! And then everyone went crazy!
U headbutted him in the chest when he pulled away
Anyways, Kazunari is really cheeky and doesn't get too caught off guard by you, but it's definitely a fun game to play with each other!!! Maybe even a surprise smooch on the lips is next... Haha.... Unless....?
#LMAO#i didnt rlly know how to go around this bc im not Affectionate like this#but taichi = mood#kazunari miyoshi#taichi nanao#juza hyodo#itaru chigasaki#masumi usui#a3! act! addict! actors!#a3! imagines#a3!

hello and good day! i would like a matchup for a3! and ikerev, please! she/her pronouns. you can call me juice, though! hm i think a good description of me personality wise would be im usually cheerful, friendly, childish but i tend to hide a lot of my negative feelings and overthink quite a lot. towards others i'm always curious about the littlest details of someone's hobbies or interest and sometimes i talk more than i listen. love literature and things like fashion or games (1)
Hello, thanks for requesting juice! Sorry for the long wait but I hope you enjoy it! I was pretty excited to write a match up for a3! since it’s been living rent free in my head for the last few weeks. I got a little carried away with the last prompt cause it was so fun to write, but I hope you like it! Also, the ikerev one might take some time but I’ll try to not take too long. Have fun!
I match you with
Tsuzuru!
The two of you first meet after you watch one of their plays, “A Clockwork Heart.” When you realize that the lead and writer is a classmate of yours from college you can’t help but approach him a few days later to discuss the play further.
He seems self conscious at first but quickly opens up as the two of you discuss his script and before you know it one conversation has turned into an in-depth discussion over lunch.
After that first encounter, both of you start talking more often, quickly growing closer. Tsuzuru appreciates your cheerful attitude, making it easy for him to be comfortable around you.
Considering your love for literature, you often help him brainstorm for new ideas, always looking forward to seeing how he brings it to life on stage.
It is easy for you to fit in with the rest of the boys from Mankai, despite their constant prying on your relationship with Tsuzuru. After all the time the two of you spend together, it is no surprise when none of the boys (except Azami) bat an eyelash when you make it official, after a lot of back and forth between friendship and romance.
Prompt: Bonding
“The reason S was created in the first place was because Luke needed a companion. It’s tragic that he was the one who left him in the end.”
“Well, yes, but he also taught him to open up to people, insuring that he wouldn’t be alone when he was gone.”
You and Tsuzuru had been discussing the end of his latest play “A Clockwork Heart” for a while, arguing over whether or not the ending was tragic. When you approached him to offer your praise for his work earlier that day you hadn’t been expecting him to engage in your opinions on a play he wrote, but he was actually deeply invested in the conversation, despite the matter at hand being trivial to the actual substance of the story.
“He couldn’t have known though. He also put his own wishes aside to protect him. That alone makes the ending tragic.” You vividly remembered the tears you had shed when the show reached its climax, a result of both his script and his acting.
“It depends on your idea of what the ending was. S was a machine, so as long as Luke was alive they could meet again, when it was safe for the both of them. That makes the ending-“
Ring Ring
You almost chucked at the generic sound his phone made as it vibrated.
“Give me a sec.” he moved away from the bench before answering. It wasn’t long before he returned, a flush expression on his face.
“Sorry, I didn’t realize I had kept you for so long. I actually need to get going.” He ran a hand through his hair, smiling shyly. It was only then that you noticed what time it was.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to bother you for that long!” Now you were both flushed, the realization dawning on you that you had spent two hours talking.
“I-it’s fine. Um, we can continue this tomorrow, if you’d like?” you were surprised he actually wanted to talk again, a smile spreading over your face.
“Definitely. “
“Okay. See you then!” he waved as he ran off while simultaneously trying to dial someone, resulting in him almost falling on his face. You looked forward to tomorrow.
After that first encounter, you continued to meet during lunch to talk about other works, quickly realizing you had a similar taste in books and movies. It was an easy transition, going from acquaintances to friends.
“How’s the summer troupe’s play coming along?” It was easy to tell that he had been losing sleep again from the – almost – comical black circle under his eyes, but you asked anyway, hoping that you could offer some help.
“I know what I want to write, the words are just refusing to form and settle themselves on the page.” The frustration was evident on his face as he tried to put the pieces flying around his head in order. You tried to think of a way to help him but you knew that he needed to figure this out on his own.
“Come on.” You forcefully pulled him out of his chair, carefully shutting his laptop.
“W-wait. Where are we going?” you pushed him along, despite his protesting.
“Trust me.” You flashed him your biggest smile before setting of, only mildly aware that your hand was still around his wrist.
“The movies?” he seemed confused over what your objective was but you were confident it would help him out of his slump.
“Yes. Come on, I’ll even get us popcorn!” you were beaming as you led him inside.
“What are we watching?” Tsuzuru, finally resigned to his fate, flipped through the leaflet, looking at the moves currently playing.
“Your choice, I’m fine with whatever.” You hurried to the bar to pick up snacks, leaving him at the ticket booth.
“Look at those effects.”
“The acting is top notch.”
Tsuzuru had been so immersed in the movie he seemed to have forgotten all about his tiredness. When you exited the theatre you could practically see the gears turning in his head.”
“It’s a very different take on pirates than the summer troupe’s play, but if I exaggerate the characters even more then there would be great opportunity for comedy.” You couldn’t help the laugh that escaped you as you observed him, completely lost in his own mind.
“So I take it the creative juices are flowing again?” he looked back at you, as if seeing you clearly for the first time in days.
“Yes! Thank you!” He put his arms around you, too far lost in his excitement to feel any awkwardness.
“I-I have to go write! I’ll see you tomorrow.” He continued shouting thank you over his shoulder as he run off with newfound energy. You expected you wouldn’t see him the next day, considering he’d probably be passed out by then, but you smiled anyway.
“See you later!”
Prompt : Cinderella:
“So, you’re thinking of doing Cinderella for the next play?” You and Tsuzuru were hanging out in his room, taking full advantage of Masumi’s absence that weekend.
“Yeah… I’m not sure how to go about it though. Everyone in the Spring Troupe agreed that I should be lead this time around but I just don’t see myself in the shoes of a prince… Itaru would probably be a better fit for the role.” You couldn’t help throwing a pillow his way.
“Hey! What was that for?” You sat up a little straighter, tempted to glare at him until he picked up on your annoyance.
“I can definitely picture you in the role of the prince.” You cleared your throat before switching to your best narrator voice.
A long, long time ago there lived a boy and a girl. They were the best of friends when they were children. The boy would often sneak out to meet with her and they would play for hours. But their happiness would not last long.
You see, the girl grew up to be the maid of one of the less-fortunate royal families in the kingdom. She had been forced into that position by her father’s latest wedding. It would also turn out to be his last, for he died a few years later, leaving her in the care of a wicked stepmother.
One the other hand, the boy grew up to be the most charming prince in the land. The women fawned over him and he always had everything his heart could desire.”
“I’m literally none of those things.”
“Fine then.”
The prince was an idiot who didn’t know how to take care of himself and never asked for help. He constantly worried his friends over his health but they loved him anyway.
“That’s not any better…”
“Shh, let me continue the story.”
Their difference in class ripped the two friends apart, putting an end to their relationship. While they weren’t allowed to meet again, they promised to never forget about each other. To keep that promise, the made matching bracelets and agreed to never take them off until they could meet again.
“Friendship bracelets? Who does that?”
“They were kids! Would you have preferred rings?”
“Wouldn’t those basically be promise rings?”
“I’m coming up with this on the spot, give me a break!”
That bracelet was what gave the girl the strength to continue living, despite her struggles.
When news of a ball arrived at the estate, her step-sisters were quick to start preparations, eager to have a chance at the prince’s hand in marriage. The girl was simply happy at the prospect of seeing her friend again.
When her family found out she was planning to attend the ball, they locked her in the cellar, not willing to risk any competition. The girl wept and wept, until suddenly a kind seeming lady appeared in front of her.
“Isn’t this just the movie?”
“Give it a second!”
The lady promised she would help her get to the ball if that was what she wished. Despite her suspicions, the girl earnestly declared that all she wanted was to see her friend again. And so the kind woman flicked her wrist and the rags the girl had been wearing were replace by a rich ball gown, paired with a glass slippers. The girl thanked her again and again before heading off in search of her lost friend.
“She doesn’t warn her about the time limit?”
“There’s no curfew here, it’s a stupid conflict anyway.”
You couldn’t contain the excitement and adrenaline that flowed through you as you went up the steps of the grand palace. You hadn’t been here since you were a child, when the king’s father still allowed you to visit, and childhood memories flooded your mind. It was difficult to keep your nerves at a reasonable level as you approached the guards at the front gate. By the time you had arrived at the palace, most of the guests were already inside, so you were completely alone when you handed the invitation, hoping the witch had done her work well.
“Enjoy your evening.” They smiled before urging you to step inside. A sense of awe filled you as you walked through the somewhat familiar halls, remembering all the places you and Tsuzuru would hide from the servants, before his title meant anything to you.
You weren’t sure you remembered the way to the main hall, so you followed the noise, hoping you could make your way there.
When you finally stood outside what seemed to be the entrance, you took a few deep breaths before walking forward, determined to see your friend again. When you stepped though the door you quickly realized that the door wasn’t the room’s main entrance, but the top of the grand staircase. Dread filled you as everyone’s eyes fell on you. If it wasn’t for the railing you thought you have fainted right then and there. You breathed in, allowing you hand to wrap around the bracelet the two of you had made so long ago, letting the warm feelings it carried spread through you.
You bowed once before making your way down the stairs, hoping you wouldn’t trip on your dress and make a fool of yourself before the night even started.
The moment you were off the last step, your eyes fell on your step-mother, eyeing you with absolute envy and disgust. You hoped the mask would be enough to conceal your identity.
You walked around the room for a bit, keeping to the less populated areas, hoping to catch a glimpse of Tsuzuru, disappointed to find that he was nowhere to be found.
“Please let this not be for nothing…”
You were about to make your way to the balcony, but a swarm of guests was suddenly in your path, dancing to the waltz the band had just started playing. You frantically looked around, searching for a way out when two arms wrapped around you, pulling you along with the rest of the dancers.
“I guess you’re my partner?” the face of the man that stood before you made your jaw drop. You had thought of so many things to say, but now that Tsuzuru was standing before you, the words seemed to catch in your throat.
“So, uh, are you having fun?” he was as awkward as you remembered. Something about the familiarity filled you with a sense of calm. I found him.
“I am now.” It was hard to contain the smile quickly spreading around your face.
“Actually I was-“that was when it was time to switch partners. When you felt his hand slip from yours, panic flooded through you. No… I didn’t have the chance to tell him.
As he pulled his hand away, his fingers brushed the bracelet on your wrist, eyes widening as he was whisked away by another partygoer, realization evident in his features. You tried to get closer, but were quickly taken away by another guest. Your eyes landed on Tsuzuru a few times but the hall was too crowded. It was almost suffocating. You took the first chance to slip out on the balcony, eager to get away from the crowds.
You stood at the railing, letting the air cool down your heated face. He had seen you, but you weren’t sure he would care enough to search. Negative thoughts occupied your mind as you gazed at the land beyond. Maybe this was foolish… He probably barely remembers me… He’s a prince after all. He was more important matter to attend to than a peasant he used to spend his free time with. You felt tears gathering at the corners of your eyes, your own loneliness catching up with you.
“Please don’t cry!” You were shocked to find Tsuzuru standing a few feet away from you, his face flushed and his knees bent. He must’ve been running.
“You’re the girl from back then, aren’t you?” he glanced down at your wrist, pulling up his own sleeve to reveal a bracelet identical to yours.
“Y-you kept it.” Your voice cracked, barely audible in the midst of the ongoing celebrations.
“Of course I did! It meant a lot to me.” The words seemed to call to something inside you and so you let the tears fall.
“W-what did I do? Please don’t cry!” he took a step closer, still unsure of what boundaries existed between you.
“I-I can’t help it. I’m just so happy!” you wrapped your arms around him, not caring who saw you. All that mattered in that moment was that the two of you were reunited at last.
“I missed you.” You couldn’t see his face, but you could tell he was crying too, by the way his heart beat against your, the way his hands shook, still wrapped around you in a tight embrace. Year’s worth of loneliness and regret spilled out of the both of you in a single moment.
You stayed like that for quite some time, allowing the relief to wash over you. When you looked at each other again, you couldn’t help but laugh at your state. You knew the scene must look ridiculous to any outside spectators, but none of them mattered. It felt like you were alone in the world, no barriers between you. Your class didn’t matter. You were just a boy and a girl who had been reunited.
“ The king was skeptical at first, knowing a commoner queen wouldn’t create any new alliances, but he could see the love his son had for the girl. And so they married. It’s said that the pair practically run down the stairs of the palace after their wedding, eager to get to their honeymoon, their laughter echoing through the streets.”
“That’s an ending befitting a prince Muku reads about in manga… I still don’t see where I fit into this… ”
“Fine. As they descended the staircase, the prince fell on his ass, causing even more laughter from the girl. A moment she would never let him forget.” You couldn’t help but laugh at the earnest look on Tsuzuru’s face. He may be clumsy, but he has always been kind.
“It will need a lot modifications, especially considering the fact that none of us can exactly pull off female roles, but it could work.” At some point through the story Tsuzuru seemed to have pulled out a notebook, in which he was now scribbling away.
“Are you seriously taking notes?” he was still focused on the story, not letting the inspiration go to waste.
“Of course I am. You’re brilliant!” he pulled you in for a kiss, taking you completely by surprise.
“You’re the best.” He turned back to his note taking, leaving you with flushed cheeks and a bright smile.
“You too.”
And they lived happily ever after.

Spring Troupe 7th Play: Magician’s Pure Love Ch9-10 Translation
Can I rant before I start? This chapter is so freaking long due to the play. Then there’s Koma, who speaks to doll like he’s speaking to human. It took me a while to understand what he’s saying because of the words he’s using. Then I apologize for the error in the previous chapters, first thing first, my script translation is not correct since I interpreted it wrongly. Well, it’s because I’m doing the translation along with me reading the story myself. I changed it after I understood the story as a whole. The most obvious mistake was Mirage. It’s a name, and previously, I translated is as a mirage, an illusion of sorts. So if you have read those, just ignore them and take this one as the actual story for the play.
Other than that... I’m just so tired now... Let me rest before I continue with the epilogue...
Ch1-2 / / Ch3-4 / / Ch5-6 / / Ch7-8 / / Ch9-10 / / Epilogue

Translator’s Note:
During Chikage’s conversation with Masumi, they used 2 different terms for love talk, “Koi-bana” and “Ai-bana”. I think they should be translated to the same word in English, but to differentiate it, I translated “Ai-bana” as romance talk instead.
Masumi:
…Curry shop?
Chikage:
The interview was long, you’re starting to get hungry aren’t you.
Masumi:
You just want to eat yourself.
Chikage:
By the way, this is also Director’s favourite place.
Masumi:
…I’ll eat.
Chikage:
Well, I thought it’s not a bad idea to atone myself here.
Masumi:
?
Chikage:
What do you want?
By the way, this is their recommended one.
Masumi:
Anything.
Chikage:
Then, I’ll get two of the same one.
<Short Time Skip>
Chikage:
Alright, before I start my story, I have to apologize to Masumi.
You might know about it roughly…
You remember that Director disappeared during Oz’s practice right, I was the one who kidnapped her.
I really regretted that time, the Director let it go pretty easily after that though.
But, I would like to properly apologize to Masumi, for I had did that to the most important person in your life.
I really apologize for that.
Masumi:
At that time… I thought I would kill you if you’re actually involved… But maybe there was some reasons involved.
Chikage:
…
Kasumi-san’s story earlier, there are some overlapping parts with mine.
I’ve also lost him, my most important person, my family, and my reason to live.
I became desperate afterwards and I entered the troupe, set out on getting revenge on my opponent. That was the reason I kidnapped Director back then.
Masumi:
…
Chikage:
When everyone went to the airport to get Masumi who were going to go abroad, I couldn’t stop thinking, what kind of family play was that, what kind of bullshit was that, and I was so irritated.
I’ve lost my family, there’s nobody else.
But, in the end, it’s another family who saved the me back then.
With that guy who was an irreplaceable member of my family, as well as my new family in the troupe… and the feelings left behind by the lost family member for us.
If you ask me why I am still alive right now, my answer would always be the same, as I thought, I live for the sake of my family.

The reason that I’m doing acting right now, it’s complicated, but in the end it’s for the sake of my family.
I’ll also treasure it, the performance that is treasured by my family more than anything else.
…In that sense, Masumi and I might be a bit similar, Kasumi-san too.
Masumi:
Towards the family members who have passed, like Kasumi-san, do you still love them now?
Chikage:
Love… Love huh.
I don’t really express it with words, but it might be the case.
Even now, my feelings for him will never change.
Surely, going forward, when it comes the time when I need to say goodbye to the current family, it will be the same, my feelings will never disappear.
Masumi:
…
Chikage:
It’s Masumi’s turn next.
Masumi:
Me?
Chikage:
About Masumi’s love towards Director-san, can you tell me all about it again.
Masumi:
Why again?
Chikage:
According to Chigasaki, I won’t be able to have a proper love talk with Masumi and it’s vexing.
Masumi:
…For me, getting to like her and falling in love with her are such a simple thing.
I met her and I’m glad I followed my heart back then.
But… I have been doing my best in a lot of things, all for the sake of receiving her love.
If moving forward, Director ends up with another guy, I feel that all my efforts will go to waste and now I’m just lost.
Without my relationship with her, will I still be able to do my best as an actor…
As I thought, I can only act for her sake. In order to be the number one person in her eyes, in order to be recognized by her…
If I told her about this, I thought she would tell me something about finding my own motivation, one that’s more for my own sake…
After listening to Kasumi and Chikage’s story, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to do your best for the sake of someone else.
(It’s not that I want to be an actor at first.
Acting for me is, a way to express my love for her, to not be separated from her. That’s the number one meaning of my acting.)
If, I’m going to continue as an actor until the end of my life…
Even if Director ended up marrying someone else, I don’t think I can change this feeling of love I have towards her.
Chikage:
Hmm… The power of love is really great.
It can even change our lives.
Masumi:
How about you?
But not about Director.
Chikage:
Well, whatever… I’ve reached “Normal Clear” on love talk with Masumi now.
Masumi:
And upgrade from love talk would be… romance talk?
Chikage:
Romance talk huh.
Masumi:
Then, I’ll ask you properly this time, what is love to you?
Chikage:
It’s embarrassing so stop writing it down.
I guess… for me, love is--

Announcer:
Thank you very much for coming today, Spring Troupe’s 7th Performance “Magician’s Pure Love”, will be starting soon.
Director:
(It’s finally the opening day… It’s the usual thing, but it’s been a while.
I’m a bit worried about Masumi-kun, but after the talk with Kasumi-san, I’m glad he’s back to normal.
I’m glad I relied on Chikage-san. The play is slowly getting better too.
Masumi-kun has been trying to appeal to me on top of stage, much more than usual, and his power of attraction is really amazing.
He’s able to attract the audience’s attention to him, as an actor, as the lead, it’s really a great talent to have.)
<Shifts to Backstage>
Director:
Everyone, we should get ready--
Itaru:
So you really have a love talk with Senpai?
Chikage:
Are you still going to treat me like a man with no romance.
Masumi:
That’s why, it’s not love talk, it’s romance talk.
Director:
… Masumi-kun, really can’t compare with the time during our flagship performance, you’re familiar with everyone now.
Sakuya:
Ah, Director!
Director:
Everyone, the audiences are in!
Tsuzuru:
It’s finally time.
Citron:
I’m excited~
Director:
Well then, I’ll be with the audience, good luck on your first day!
Masumi:
--Wait.
Director:
?
Masumi:
Come here for a bit.
I have something I need to tell you.
That day when I saw you performing in Veludo Way, was the first time I started acting.
I started everything for you, I did everything for your sake but…
Since then, it’s been fun, and I guess that’s one reason I’m doing theatre now.
Together with everyone in Spring Troupe, the thought of being able to continue performing with everyone from the troupe, made me really happy.
I feel that I can do something that I wasn’t able to do before, after acting as different roles, I feel that I’m overflowing with different emotions I’ve never felt before.
I’m glad to have met you, I’m glad I started acting.
Thank you.
Director:
Masumi-kun…
Me too, thank you for growing to love acting.
I’m also very happy, to be able to see Masumi-kun who slowly grows to appreciate acting.
Masumi:
…
(But in the end… My reason for acting will always be you.
I want to be the number one in your eyes…
I want to be your ideal actor.
There are other reasons, but in the end, like a dumb simple man that I am, my number one reason to be an actor will always be for your sake.
Just that, will never change no matter what happened.
The truth is, all of my acting until now, is a form of love letter directed to you.
But, you’ll be troubled if I tell you all of this, so I won’t.)
--Today too, look at me.
Director:
Yeah, of course.
I’ll look at you properly.
Then, I’ll see you later.
Masumi:
…
Citron:
Masumi, that was a confession of a lifetime huh?
Masumi:
I’ll do that everyday.
Starting from now.
Itaru:
As expected, you’re consistent.
Sakuya:
You’re so energetic as always!
Chikage:
That’s Masumi after all.
Tsuzuru:
Right.
Masumi:
This time, I’ve learned a lot from listening to everyone’s stories in Spring Troupe, and I understand that there are different forms of love.
For me, my number one love will always belong to Director but…
I’ll try to share only a small bit with you guys too.
Tsuzuru:
Only a small bit is….!
Itaru:
So stingy.
Chikage:
Only, I’ll be waiting for more in the future.
Sakuya:
Haha, but I’m really happy, Masumi-kun!
Citron:
Like Masumi-kun said. Love have different forms. Love is not only romantic love.
Your petty love towards Spring Troupe is overflowing!
Tsuzuru:
Plenty, right!
Sakuya:
Love towards family is also love! Right.
Citron:
You’re right!
Next time, let’s get Spring Troupe to perform as a family!
Make sure we draw the passionate encounter between the father and the mother properly~!
Itaru:
I wonder if I’m going to see Senpai shedding tears for his cute grandson…
Chikage:
Do I need to ask Azami to put an old-man make up on me…?
Tsuzuru:
Haha, it will be a full-blown comedy.
It’s going to be fun writing it.
Sakuya:
Masumi-kun, should we get to the cheering?
Citron:
Do one that only Masumi can do!
Masumi:
…Everything’s for the sake of love towards Director.

Sakuya:
Ah, yeah~!
Citron:
For the sake of love!
Tsuzuru:
Too heavy…!
Itaru:
It’s hard to continue.
Chikage:
But, it really sounds like Masumi.
<End of Chapter 9>
Petén:
The world’s in recession now, I wonder if there’ll be any good business request coming in.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2002621c13b8700d23ee08e8432bee18/f61db9ffd26c1970-e2/s540x810/14ce657718e34b6e8502110f3877a7b66d041610.jpg)
Kiel:
I thought looking for job is not a part of a magician’s job.
Petén:
It’s not that I want to play manager too.
Kiel:
I want to make a name for myself before I retire though.
Kigutsudou:
Petén, are you here?
Petén:
Oh, Kigutsudou. It’s been a while.
Kigutsudou:
So that child over there is the rumoured disciple.
Petén:
He’s Suga Kiel. Kiel, this is an old friend of mine, Kigutsudou.
Kigutsudou:
Nice to meet you.
Kiel:
Same here.
Petén:
So, what’s going on?
Kigutsudou:
Actually, there’s someone who would like to request for your Magician Show.
Petén:
I’ve already retired though. How about Kiel?
Kigutsudou:
Ah, hmm, it’s from someone who has taken care of me so I can’t really refuse.
Petén:
Should we listen to your story first then.
Kiel:
Please don’t decide on your own.
Petén:
I’m your manager, aren’t I.
Kiel:
I thought you said you don’t want to play manager just now.
Petén:
You said you wanted to make a new tool for your escape trick right. It’s good to start collecting money early.
Kiel:
Well, that’s true but…
Director:
(Masumi-kun and Chikage-san’s interaction has a nice feel to it.
There’s also the way the script was written, I’m starting to get hooked.
They seemed to close their distance during the duration of the performance this time, they’re surprisingly a good combination.)
Petén:
It’s a private party in the mansion, huh.
Kiel:
Then, will it be a Close-up performance?
Kigutsudou:
Close-up?
Kiel:
It’s when you do the magic trick right in front of the audience, usually for a small amount of people.
Kigutsudou:
Ah, I see.
It’s a private residence this time, but there would be a small hall there.
The client is Ritchie Marney…
He ranked very high in the list of real estate king in the magazine every single year…
Mr Marney is a connoisseur, he created an art museum on his premises to display his collections from all over the world.
Every year, he would open his house for 3 days 3 nights to showcase those collections, it seems that he called us to be in that demonstration.
Petén:
It sounds like a good business. Take the job, Kiel.
Kiel:
Please don’t just selfishly decide like that.
Petén:
I’m the president of this office. I have the authority to.
Kiel:
You just do whatever you want…
Kigutsudou:
Petén, you won’t do magic anymore?
Petén:
Kiel can earn for me now. So I’ll stay behind the scene.
Kigutsudou:
Why not become a puppet artisan then?
With your hand I’m sure--
Petén:
I don’t have that kind of talent like my father or grandfather.
Kiel:
Puppet artisan?
Petén:
Well, might as well tell you.
My family has been living by making dolls for generations.
Kigutsudou:
I’m actually a disciple of Petén’s father.
Master was a wonderful artisan…
Petén:
Unfortunately, I didn’t inherit any of those.
Kigutsudou:
I wonder. But you chose magic right.
Kiel:
Why not master appear together in a show with me for once.
Petén:
The old wound I received on the battlefield hurt, I couldn’t really move my hand anymore.
Kiel:
I don’t see any scar though.
Petén:
I did some cosmetic surgery.
Kiel:
I saw you when you were stealing my pudding, it didn’t look like someone who can’t move their hands.
Petén:
I’m still a genius magician. I’ll be waiting for Suga Kiel to catch up to me.
I hope you’ll be able to reach my expectation through that escape trick you called magic.
Kiel:
Something like magic is… I just unlock my way out. If you’re talking about magic, it should be something like Mirage’s Show right.
Kigutsudou:
Mirage--
Kiel:
She’s taken the earth by storm, a genius magician who suddenly disappeared a few years ago.
Petén:
You’ve also taken a liking at her.
Kiel:
I was just stating the fact.
Director:
(Itaru-san’s Kigutsudou is, a bit mysterious but he’s close enough to Petén, the atmosphere around these three people feels so natural.
It seems like the actual relationship of these three people are projected through this scene.)
<Shifts to Mansion’s Lounge>
Marney:
Ah, for the rare magician, Kiel, to appear before me, I’m honored.
Usually, every year, I would let everyone who’ve been in my care to see my collection, but I thought I could change things a bit this time.
I want you to do an escape magic show using my collection, how about that.
Kiel:
By collection you mean those valuable items?
Marney:
Yes, well there’re all sort of stuffs, but every single one of them is unique in this world.
Kiel:
If I just happened to break any of those--
Marney:
That nervousness can definitely raise the tension of the show.
Whatever, I believe in Kiel-san and I’ll leave everything in your hand.
Kiel:
Well, we can put it inside tempered glass, I think there’s a method for that…
Petén:
Even when we don’t use your collection, I’m pretty sure Kiel can deliver a show that will satisfy the audiences.
Marney:
But that’s just like any other show.
This time, I want to request for a show that you can only see here.
Petén:
…What will you do? Kiel?
Kiel:
To be honest, I don’t really feel like it…
Petén:
You said that, but rejecting after we’ve come this far is…
Kiel:
I thought you were going to listen to me.
Marney:
Then--
Kiel:
Please take all the necessary safety measures.
I’ll pay close attention to the precautions as well.
Marney:
Of course, my friend!
The one I want you to use this time, is this one.
Kiel:
Bisque Doll, is it?
Marney:
“Luchenne of The Lakeside” in terms of monetary value, it’s not as expensive as the others, so there will be no problem even if something happened.
Kiel:
Not as expensive…
Petén:
It’s an antique doll with diamonds as eyes right.
Maybe around ten million worth.
Kiel:
Ten, ten million……!?
Marney:
What about it, it’s my money.
Director:
(Citron-kun’s Marney too, still kinda detestable but he has that dignified feel.
If not careful he might become a hated character, but thanks to Citron-kun, he becomes a charming person.)
Petén:
So you’ll be using the Bisque doll during the climax on the third day.
Kiel:
Yeah.
I have to think for the whole composition of the show during the three days so as not to make it boring…
???:
Wha, what’s this!?
Kiel:
?
Petén:
It’s lively over there.
Koma:
Marney-sama! I found something in the entrance--!
Marney:
What is it.
“I’m going to save Luchenne from your captive. Phantom Thief Face.” it said!?
Koma:
Should we do something about this!?
Marney:
Call the police!
<Short Time Skip>
Kanagi:
I’m Kanagi from the Metropolitan Police Department, let’s hear what you have to say.
Kiel:
It’s about the notification letter from Phantom Face.
Kanagi:
Do you know about this.
Petén:
We happened to be there.
Kiel:
But anyway, who is this Phantom Face?
Petén:
You don’t know about it?
Kiel:
Petén-san, you know?
Petén:
He appeared in the television and newspaper, he’s famous isn’t it.
Kanagi:
He’s a thief who continuously aims for antique items. He will send a notification letter before stealing. I really have to catch him this time--
Kiel:
With this situation, I wonder if the party will be cancelled.
Kanagi:
About that, Mr Marney seems to be going with the initial plan. He cannot adjust because he has friends who cannot change their schedules.
Kiel:
Then, what happened to using the Bisque Doll as props?
Kanagi:
You can continue as planned.
Kiel:
Eh…
Petén:
It becomes an absurd request.
Kiel:
Who received the job in the first place.
<Shifts to Mansion’s Lounge>
Kiel:
Then, we’ll keep the tempered glass for the escape magic—
By the way, I can be careful not to break it, but I cannot promise that I can protect it from Phantom Face.
Marney:
I’ll leave it to Detective Kanagi for that matter, so no problem.
In the worst case, it’s going to be stolen, or left with minor scratches…
But no matter what, it’s weird.
Kiel:
What is it?
Marney:
I have other collection that’s much more expensive than this one.
For him to choose a Bisque Doll among all those things…
Petén:
Do you want use to use your other collection for the magic?
Marney:
No, it’s just a thought about Phantom Face.
Anyway, I’ve already announced it.
The audiences are looking forward to it.
<Shifts to Hall>
Kiel:
Ladies and Gentlemen.
Tonight, let’s enter the into the realm of dream in this moment.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1aca12382b688c27e0df6f98e45dc403/f61db9ffd26c1970-ff/s540x810/e45b367b0736e3b5e234529b6c515263dea61d17.jpg)
Audience A:
Woah…!
Audience B:
That’s so great. It reminds me of Mirage’s show.
Audience C:
It’s true that Mirage was great, but I think he’s better.
Director:
(Masumi-kun’s magic trick is really great.
He really looks like a pro magician here.
He is performing the magic trick as Kiel, but the reaction of the audience on stage are linking to the actual audiences.)
Kigutsudou:
That’s a wonderful performance.
Petén:
It’s great to have an excellent disciple.
Kigutsudou:
I thought you’re an excellent magician too.
Petén:
Without any business tool, I’m out of business.
Kigutsudou:
…
<Shifts to Corridor>
Petén:
So what are you going to do on the third day?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6d36ca2b8a949af7dc7f0217a047933a/f61db9ffd26c1970-16/s540x810/58ffb4c592d515182c1e648d26ba5cc65959ac61.jpg)
Kiel:
Rather than doing it in the same hall, I was thinking if we can change to a different place.
Petén:
Hee…
Kiel:
I haven’t decided though.
Petén:
Will you make it in time?
Kiel:
Well, I have until tonight.
Petén:
Sigh, you’re an excellent disciple you know.
I think you would be able to surpass Mirage.
Kiel:
That can’t be. She is—Her very existence is art itself.
Petén:
You’re so deep into your first love.
Kiel:
--You, you’re wrong! It’s just that, she’s the magician I admired since I was small and she’s what I aim to become--
Petén:
Right right. It’s too blinding for an old man like me, you’re going to crush my eyes.
<Shifts to Mansion’s Lounge>
Koma:
Ojousama, it’s dangerous to stay here.
I’ll try to figure out a way to escape…
Petén:
Ah, isn’t he the servant, Koma?
Who is he talking with?
Kiel:
That is—Luchenne!
Petén:
Oi oi, does that mean that Phantom Face is this guy?
Kiel:
Wait--!
Koma:
Hi, hieee!
*runs away*
Petén:
He’s behaving pretty suspiciously.
Kiel:
Let’s go and tell Detective Kanagi!
<Short Time Skip>
Koma:
It’s a misunderstanding! I wasn’t trying to kidnap Luchenne-sama!
Petén:
Kidnapping you say, you’re being suspected for theft.
Kiel:
Then, what were you doing loitering around there?
Koma:
That is--
Kanagi:
It’s useless to hide anything.
Koma:
I, I was, I was just there to fix Luchenne-sama’s hair!
Kiel:
Hair…?
Petén:
What do you mean by that?
Koma:
But honestly, It was all Marney-sama’s fault.
He kept passionately seeking for Luchenne-sama.
But since she entered this family, his affection for her just faded and thrown out of the window.
I was lamenting for Luchenne-sama’s situation.
Kiel:
Passionately…
Kanagi:
Entered the family?
Koma:
Oh, poor Luchenne-sama…!
Without any affection, she’ll rot away!
Kanagi:
Eh, so what you mean was, Koma-san was doing maintenance on Luchenne, right?
Koma:
I personally take care of her!
Kanagi:
I, I see.
Petén:
Well, it’s true that it’s well taken care of for such an antique item.
Koma:
Of course! Luchenne-sama’s glossy hair and shiny eyes too, there’s no other like her in this world!
She’s made by a contemporary doll artisan. Kigutsudou-san will understand too, those delicate face and limbs—
Such a wonderful being and he wanted her to be involved in such a dangerous escape magic--
Kiel:
So, you’re a doll maniac.
Kanagi:
It seems so.
Petén:
Well, you’ll be happy if you were the doll.
Director:
(Sakuya-kun’s Koma is a bit different, but he has such a pure and passionate love. He really puts on a good performance.)
<Shifts to Corridor>
Kiel:
Petén-san, where did he go?
Even thought I told him to have a meeting about tomorrow…
--
Wait, is that maybe, Mirage?
Wait!
<Shifts to Mansion’s Lounge>
Kigutsudou:
…
Kiel:
Kigutsudou-san…? He’s looking at Luchenne…?
Kigutsudou:
--
Kiel:
Ah--
<Shifts to Corridor>
Kiel:
…Why did he run away.
Petén:
So, you’re here, Kiel.
To forget the timing for a meeting, you fail as a pro.
Kiel:
Who forgets about it. I contacted Petén-san but it never got connected, I was looking for you this whole time.
Petén:
Ah, that was my bad.
Kiel:
Really… By the way, just now I saw Kigutsudou-san looking at Luchenne but…
When he realized I was there, he immediately left and ran away.
Petén:
He’s just looking at them for reference isn’t he.
Kiel:
I feel that there’s something more to it…
Petén:
It can’t be, are you going to say that he’s actually Phantom Face?
That is impossible.
Kiel:
Ah, then Mirage was--
Petén:
Mirage again huh.
You should stop it already, why not just find a new love.
Kiel:
Tha, that’s why, I don’t have that kind of feelings towards her, it was just admiration!
<Shifts to Storage Room>
Director:
(Kigutsudou’s suspicious behaviour… Kiel who found the shadow of Mirage…
We were enveloped by such a disturbing atmosphere, and the party finally reached the morning of the third day--)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4f83e51477a2e672e7bd1edbc5775c0c/f61db9ffd26c1970-83/s540x810/20dd1fedb8d1cdbcba6fd812c8a4950437df6896.jpg)
Petén:
O, oi, Kiel! Look at this!
Kiel:
The tool is… broken?
Petén:
That’s cruel…
Kiel:
Well, it was about time to get a new one, but for it to be broken on the actual performance day…
Petén:
So what are you going to do?
You were planning to use this for the escape magic on the third day right.
Kiel:
I have no choice but to change the program.
Petén:
But Marney’s request was for an escape magic.
I don’t think he would accept otherwise.
Kiel:
Even if you say that, without the tool…
<Shifts to Mansion’s Lounge>
Marney:
I heard all about it. It’s so sad to hear that the tools are broken.
Kanagi:
It doesn’t matter that it’s just a small thing.
Leave the investigation to us.
Kiel:
Thank you.
Petén:
Marney-san, it’s about the show--
Marney:
You don’t need to worry about that! I’ve prepared a substitute!
Kiel:
Substitute?
Marney:
It’s a bit sudden, but I managed to get that Mirage to come!
To be able to see the comeback show directly from my own home, it will be a great present to everyone who were invited here.
Kiel:
Mirage is!?
Petén:
I see, so now we’re useless.
Marney:
About the tools, we’re also partly responsible.
I will send the rewards for all three days properly, if you would like, the two of you could stay and enjoy the show too.
Kiel:
To be able to see Mirage’s show again….
Petén:
You’re simply too happy.
Kiel:
That’s not it--!
<Shifts to Corridor>
Kiel:
Mr Marney seemed to be very confident, but is the security really perfect?
Kanagi:
We’ll only put up Luchenne in front of the audience on the last minute, it will be the security guard who handles her transfer too.
After Mirage is tied up with Luchenne using the chains, she will try to escape while hanging from the East Tower.
Mirage will remove the chain from Luchenne and herself, afterwards, Luchenne will be put back to the side of the stage and we’ll guard her from there.
Kiel:
If Face decided to attack during the escape performance, Mirage wouldn’t be able to handle it by herself.
Kanagi:
Mirage and Luchenne will be bounded by the chains, so even Face wouldn’t be able to take her away.
Of course, we can’t really offer help to Mirage then, but we planned to secure the surrounding area as much as possible.
Kiel:
It’s fine if we can do something about the opponent, but if something actually happened to Mirage… It would be a great loss in the world of magic.
Kanagi:
About Mirage, is she really such a wonderful magician?
Kiel:
She’s a genius. She’s able to change people’s complexion through that vivid performance of hers.
Even from a pro’s point of view, her performance is like magic.
Kanagi:
Even Kiel-san?
Kiel:
I’ve seen Mirage’s show before, it’s her magic trick that made me admire magic so much now.
Kanagi:
I see…
By the way, do you know anything about her personal life?
Kiel:
Let alone the face, there is so little known about her private life. She’s a very mysterious magician.
Why do you ask such thing?
Kanagi:
…Previously, Phantom Face had appeared in the middle of Mirage’s Show.
This time, it’s the repeat of the same thing, I think it might not be a coincidence anymore.
Kiel:
Mirage is not Phantom Face!
Kanagi:
But, there’s a possibility that they’re related--
Kiel:
Impossible! For a person with such pure and clear magic, she won’t use her show to steal…
Kanagi:
… Sorry. Let’s just forget I said that.
Kiel:
You suspected Mirage…?
Mirage is not related at all. I’ll prove it.
Director:
(Tsuzuru-kun, he said he will try his best for his role study, but in the end it becomes a Tsuzuru-kun like character who was filled with humanity.)
<Short Time Skip>
Kiel:
Petén-san and—Kigutsudou-san?
*peeks into the room*
Kigutsudou:
I’ll do anything I can for Mirage, but I can’t guarantee that it will work.
Petén:
The truth is, I don’t want to let it be this way, my disciple will end up crying so.
Kiel:
Eh? --What’s the meaning of this?
Things that he can do for Mirage… I’ll end up crying?
--Ugh
Director:
(He was suddenly attacked from behind, and he woke up to a pitch black view…)
Kiel:
Here is…?
Am I actually trapped here…? Anyone, why do they even… Tch, to do such thing, there’s no one else but Phantom Face.
Does that mean that Face has already sneaked in to the mansion?
But then, why me…
The only way I can think about it, is that I was in the way of him stealing Luchenne. The fact that he broke my tools, it must be for the same reason too.
Is it because I tried to catch Face for Mirage’s sake?
But, my tools were broken before I heard about Mirage and Face from Kanagi-san.
That means, there must be another reason he broke my tools.
Even so, maybe the reason my tools were broken was to prevent me to hold the show—
Is it so that the show can be given to Mirage?
As I thought, there’s a relation between Mirage and Face—
No, that’s impossible.
I don’t believe that Mirage will use magic to steal.
From the beginning, why was Face so wary about me…
Maybe I have already approached Face without me knowing?
It’s no good. I have no idea at all. If I recall correctly, Petén-san and Kigutsudou-san were talking before I lost consciousness…
Ah right, Kigutsudou-san said that he will do anything for Mirage, but what does that mean?
Petén-san, is he connected to Mirage after all?
I don’t understand at all. Anyway, first thing first, I have to get out of here.
An escape show without audience is pointless. It will be great if Petén-san realized I was missing and come to search for me but…
I shouldn’t get my hopes up.
The chains are wrapped around my arms. If that’s the case there should be a lock somewhere—
--, there it is!
Alright, if that’s it…
…
…It’s opened!
*out from the dark*
But, this lock… Is Petén-san’s…
I have no choice but to ask him directly.
Ah, I have to hurry! Mirage’s show is starting…!
Director:
(Masumi-kun’s long dialogue and escape show…
It’s only a while, but with the escape scene, as expected, you can really feel the tension.)
<Shifts to East Tower>
Audience A:
Kyaaaa!!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8096402688e639c93ec5ecd7c861f887/f61db9ffd26c1970-3f/s540x810/95eaf444fd0e95c15ca8db9329ac77b5319f497b.jpg)
Audience B:
That’s amazing. How do you even escape from that state?
Kiel:
Mirage… So she’s using her own body and Luchenne to release herself from the strangling chains…
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b12f1f45a675fa57bb4a133b019e5e30/f61db9ffd26c1970-82/s540x810/a034e701af658bdab5e5d9e91fec4d674a1321a7.jpg)
If Face were to steal Luchenne, he would do so during the middle of the show when Luchenne was separated with the police, most probably before her successful escape.
It is difficult to steal Luchenne when she’s chained like now…
If that’s the case, now, the one that Mirage has is fake…?
No, but the police has been monitoring the situation even before the show started…
There’s no way that he can switch it beforehand.
When will Face make the appearance to steal Luchenne?
I have to figure it out soon otherwise the show will end… If it was me, if I need to get my hand on Luchenne in the middle of an escape show…
He can unlock the lock beforehand.
In the first place, Luchenne and Mirage’s lock are not removed simultaneously. Even though they looked like so.
If so, before Mirage removes the chain and return to the ground, when Luchenne’s lock is removed, that will be the easiest time to steal Luchenne.
A place where you can reach Luchenne—The tower’s window!
<Shifts to Tower Entrance>
Petén:
So you managed to escape after all.
I raise my hand already, you’re really an excellent disciple.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/89d4f65b7dbda7d2e7bd7504dec7c3e6/f61db9ffd26c1970-8c/s540x810/1cae287a7b4cab51db55a42397580620ad4e822f.jpg)
Kiel:
Petén-san, why.
Petén:
Luchenne was made by my great grandparents.
He was deceived, and Luchenne was one piece that ended up in auction after it was lost.
Kiel:
You can still stop it. This kind of thing is--
Petén:
It’s too late.
Kiel:
--Mirage!?
Petén:
I’m sorry.
Kiel:
Wait, Petén-san!
<Shifts to Outdoor Stage>
Audience A:
Kyaa!
Audience B:
Mirage is shattered--!
Audience C:
Mirage is a doll!? What’s the meaning of this!?
Kiel:
--
Audience B:
Is this a part of the show?
Audience A:
Amazing…!
Kiel:
That’s not true… That was, the real one is…
I see, that’s why Kigutsudou lend his power to Mirage…
There’s also the fact that Phantom Face is Mirage…
Kigutsudou:
Luchenne… So I didn’t make it in time…
Kiel:
Kigutsudou-san?
Kigutsudou:
Even thought you ended up sacrificing yourself.
I’m sorry, Mirage.
Kiel:
What do you mean by that.
Kigutsudou:
I’ve already realized that Petén is Phantom Face from the first incident.
But I didn’t think that we’ll find his great grandfather’s work in Mr Marney’s collection.
Kiel:
Kigutsudou-san, what did you do to Mirage?
Kigutsudou:
Mirage was originally made by me. When I was studying as a disciple under Petén’s father, I was asked to create a doll to be used in shows.
But, an escape show leaves a heavy burden on the doll.
It was damaged to the point that I have to retire it.
That’s the truth behind the story of disappearing Mirage.
Petén asked me to repair it so it can withstand just one more show…
There’s nothing I can do.
I didn’t want him to sin anymore than this.
Sorry, Kiel-kun too, I’m sorry.
Kiel:
No, I was…
Kigutsudou:
Thank you, for loving Mirage.
Kiel:
…Uhh…
Director:
(This is a scene where Masumi-kun found difficulties with during practice…
Kiel lost his first love and his tears are so pure, it’s beautiful.)
<Shifts to Mansion’s Lounge>
Marney:
I’ve decided to leave my collection under Koma’s care from now on.
I feel that I’ve been too disrespectful with the history of all my collections.
I felt it in my body now. Those things are ephemeral.
I should play my part in preserving their history.
Kigutsudou:
If it’s Koma-san, I’m pretty sure the dolls will be happy.
Koma:
Leave it to me!
Kigutsudou:
Kiel-kun, what are you going to do from now on?
Kiel:
I’ll keep doing my work as a magician like I always do.
I lost my manager so it will be a bit boring, but Mirage’s magic hasn’t disappeared after all.
Director:
(He has such a refreshed look on him. Even though he lost Mirage, the magic of first love never disappear. It will always remain in Kiel’s heart forever…
With the magic of first love in mind, Kiel will continue to do magic from now on too…)
<Shifts to Mankai Stage>
Masumi:
Thank you so much.
Chikage:
Thank you.
Itaru:
Thank you.
Citron:
Thank you dayo~
Sakuya:
Thank you so much!
Tsuzuru:
Thank you so much.
Director:
…
<Shifts to Backstage>
Masumi:
…
(…Hey, do you know? That you’re also an actor.
From the top of the stage, on the dimly lit seats, surprisingly I can see each of the audience’s face clearly. Even the change of their facial expression…
Even among the people in this crowd, I will always find you first.
If it’s not fate, how do you want to call it?
When I look at you who was watching my performance, I could feel an infinite power surging through me.
I understand what Kasumi said now. I feel that I have received the courage and I would be able to become anything, I would be able to do anything.
Since I met you, I’ve always seemed to be possessed, but I’ll brave anywhere for you.
I’m pretty sure, you’re my one fated partner in this lifetime.
And for me, love is…)

The A3! Song Tag Game
Thanks for tagging me, @athela-3! I’d actually been wanting to write a post about A3! songs but never got to it because I had a hard time choosing! 😅
With you tagging me, I guess I might as well do this now. Man... I spent hours formulating a response to these questions. I’m doing this all at once, so this post is going to be a long one...
Main:
What is your first A3! song?
MANKAI☆Kaika Sengen! I mean, it’s the song that greets you the moment you open the game. Moreover, I was already familiar with Masayoshi Oishi, thanks to him writing Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun’s OP Kimi Ja Nakya Dame Mitai (which is also a bop!). The moment I heard Kaika Sengen, I instantly knew it’s written by Masayoshi-san and took to it immediately. However, the song that led to the whole discography was Susume! Pirates, because I was blown away by Misumi’s voice there and it made me curious about his other songs... and so, here I am, playing A3! playlist almost every day.
What A3! song gives you musical chills (frisson)?
Ugh, so many, I have a hard time choosing, but I think I’ll choose the one that started it all: Susume! Pirates. Misumi’s and Muku’s voices there always give me good chills, making me wanna sail away and go treasure hunting right away! Special mention: The Contract. The full version is not out yet, but damn, Tsumugi’s “Contract”... *chef’s kiss*
What A3! song makes you want to dance?
Honestly all A3ders songs and Summer Troupe songs make my body move instantly, but I think the one song that makes me wanna do proper dance is Summer Time Love. I mean, have you seen Renren (Kazu’s VA) dancing that song??? I totally understand why Daisuke-kun (Misumi’s VA) learned the dance routine and wanted to dance it with Renren.
What A3! song you would sing in a karaoke?
If it’s a solo song, I want to sing Kiteretsu Poemer, because I can go all out and be hella dramatic. 😂
Ahahahaha I have kept you all in waiting, honored ladies and esteemed gentlemen My time to take the stage is nigh! Ahahahaha
If it’s a duet song... I actually already make an agreement with a friend who also likes A3! that we’ll sing BUZAMA in karaoke. I’ll sing Sakyo’s part and my friend will sing Juza’s part. I have even memorized the dialogues. 😅
What A3! song gets you hyped up?
Natsu tte ☆ Pari Pari! It’s an easy choice because this song just screams “HYPE HYPE HYPE”.
KA・ZU・NA・RI! Guu yabaa!
What A3! song is the most relatable for you?
Nowadays, I can totally relate to Gamer’s High for obvious reasons lol. Even my new motto comes from this song:
Kakin wa uragiranai (My in-game purchases will never betray me)
But my teenage self can also relate to MINORITY. This leads to me to the realization that both Itaru and Yuki struggle with their real selves, but they take different approaches. My approach was closer to Yuki though.
It was right for me to have refused to lie to myself, right? The truth is, I’ve always been searching for a place that will accept me for who I am
Thankfully, just as Yuki has found Mankai Company, I have also found a place that accepts me for who I am. 😊
What A3! song makes you feel sadness?
Omoide no Nejimaki. Gosh, the moment the music starts, I just wanna cry everytime. Hearing the song always reminds me of the play... 😭😭😭
It was left in the hand The key to memories
Excuse me while I go sobbing for a second.
What A3! song make you feel happiness?
MagiClap. The two purest beings I have ever known singing to me about the magic of a smile?? How can I not be smiling happily??
Let’s clap your hands together! I’ll cast a spell of happiness
If you look at my face when I’m listening to this song, my expression will be like this ☺️☺️☺️ the whole time. Whoever decides to make these two sing together deserves an award, IMO.
A3! song that could be a good anime op?
If we strictly talk about anime OP, I think Mikansei na Sora de fits a fashion anime. But I think quite a number of A3! songs can be good anime songs. Sorachika will be good as soccer anime ED, I think. Susume! Pirates also sounds similar to Fairy Tail BGMs...
Favourites:
What is your favourite A3! song?
The hardest question to answer ever, but I end up choosing Scarlet Game as the winner. It has the mystery air that I so love and I adore the concept of a duet between archenemies. The lyrics are the reason why this song wins over es no Yuutsu as my most favorite A3! song.
My dearest neighbor To be quite honest, Is but a smiling monster
I always love smiling villains. 🙂
What is your favourite Character song?
SICK SICK SICK. I’m not even a Masumi fan, but damn, this song is just so sick. I want to grab a standing mic and sing this song the way Shirai (Masumi’s VA) sang it in the live concert.
What is your favourite Troupe theme song?
Natsu tte ☆ Pari Pari! because as I said: HYPE HYPE HYPE. My second favorite is SECOND SHOT. I also love the rock vibes of Autumn Troupe songs.
What is your favourite Play theme song?
I mentioned it above, so you can guess it’s es no Yuutsu. Being a mystery genre lover, I will of course choose this song as a top favorite. Toshi’s (Homare VA) voice also sounds so... delicious. My second favorite is Hajimari wa Karutetto because I like classical music (which is the play’s theme) and the soft violin sound. It is the song I listen to when I want to relax.
What is your favourite Mix Troupe theme song?
Scarlet Game for reasons already mentioned above. I have a lot of favorites from Mixed Plays though: Mikansei no Sora de, Sorachika, Yoi no Mikazuki, and MagiClap. I can’t quite decide the order.
What is your favourite A3der! song?
Haru Natsu Aki Fuyu☆Blooming! I just love it when they yell out “MANKAI!” I think the new Circle of Seasons may usurp the top position, but it’s not quite there yet...
Phew~ It’s quite tiring writing all this, but I feel very accomplished at the same time. 😝 I’m not tagging anyone in particular. If you want to do this too, then go ahead! Spread your love for A3! songs~

A3! Event: Starring Party ‘Stories of ‘24′ 2′ Translation
Let’s watch the video messages from everyone! p.s. the words in italic mean they’re taken from the video.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3817d10180aa8bd691d0fd82535b6824/3853c4b757a407f1-52/s540x810/271f1436e07512cca8226ba10d5ffc7303034b31.jpg)
Citron: Hello, I'm Citron~! I played Tennis Saionji in Spring Troupe's sixth play "Harugaoka Quartet".
Izumi: It's Enis Saionji!
Citron: Oops, I said it wrong.
Banri: We're going hard right from the start, huh.
Citron: So I'm the first one!
Kazunari: I compiled the videos in reverse order.
Citron: I had a lot of fun when my turn to be the lead actor finally came. After all, I was merely an extra in our first play. I thought I was being bullied!
Tsuzuru: That's because you couldn't even say your lines, duh!
Citron: I was really happy to be able to perform my favorite violin-themed play with my beloved troupe members.
It's all thanks to Tsuzuru. I appreciate it.
Tsuzuru: I didn't do anything special…
Citron: I'll have him rewrite "RomiJuli" script and make Friar Laurence the lead at this rate!
Tsuzuru: Hey, hold it right there!
Citron: In my "spring," I'm not alone. I'm with everyone. Let's keep traveling the world through various plays!
Chikage: I'm not sure whether to feel moved or to laugh.
Itaru: That's Citron for you.
Masumi: He's the same as ever.
Sakuya: Let's keep performing together, Citron-san!
Muku: Eh, um, ah, uhhh…!
Yuki: You're too nervous.
Misumi: Hang in there~!
Izumi: Muku-kun, calm down.
Muku: Y-Yes!
Uhh… I'm Muku Sakisaka. I played Florence in Summer Troupe's sixth play "Floral Prince".
This play is really, really precious to me, since I've got to play my dream role, a prince.
I didn't have any confidence at first. But thanks to everyone in the Summer Troupe who supported and encouraged me, my dream came true on the stage.
I could take on the lead role because I've been rehearsing together with them ever since I joined this troupe, not only in this play.
Kyu-chan has known about my dream since we were kids, and standing onstage with him as the semi-lead was reassuring. Thank you.
Kumon: Me too, thank you!
Muku: I'll continue to work hard to become an ideal prince. Please take care of me!
Misumi: I'm sure Muku can become all types of princes~!
Yuki: Anyway, your standard of an ideal prince seems to be high.
Kazunari: I think Mukkun is already princely enough~.
Tenma: Good luck.
Muku: Yup!
Juza: I'm Juza Hyodo, portraying Blood in Autumn Troupe's sixth play "Fallen Blood".
Since this play marked the first time I took on the lead role, it made me think about a lot of things, like my potential as an actor and my goal.
I still don't know how far I can go, and how I'm supposed to be as an actor now. I still can't decide on that.
But one thing for sure, I'll continue to live my life on the stage. I'll break my butt to tell the life of the characters entrusted to me.
In order to do that, I'll move forward to polish my acting. It doesn't matter whether I'm clumsy or slow. I'm going to do it.
The video Omi-san took at the time has become my precious treasure. Thanks.
Omi: Glad the video was helpful.
Juza: I'll re-watch the video over and over again whenever I hit a wallーー.
Except Settsu's part.
Banri: You bastard!
Taichi: Ahaha!
Sakyo: God, don't be sloppy.
Azami: But that's just so like Juza-san.
Hisoka: Hisoka Mikage, playing Liam in Winter Troupe's sixth play "Risky Game".
...What should I say?
Izumi: Anything is fine, like how you felt when you got chosen as the lead role or any memorable moments.
Hisoka: Lead role, huh… I've got so many lines.
Tasuku: Hey. After all that, and that's what you've got to say?
Tsumugi: That's just like Hisoka-kun.
Hisoka: But I've got to remember something precious because of this play. Thanks to everyone… I was able to meet someone important to me once again.
Homare: Good for you, Hisoka-kun.
Hisoka: I'll continue to live as actor Hisoka Mikage, together with them…
Azuma: Yeap. Let's keep working together.
Guy: I look forward to seeing Hisoka Mikage's acting in the future.
Itaru: I'm Itaru Chigasaki. I played Lancelot in Spring Troupe's fifth play "Knight of Round IV THE STAGE".
I think it'll take around an hour for me to talk about Kniroun. Is that okay?
Izumi: Please make it short!
Itaru: Got it.
Back then, I have never ever imagined becoming Lancelot from my favorite Kniroun game.
Even though I had issues with the gap between my ideal Lancelot and the reality during our rehearsals, I had fun.
After all, I've got to play the game with everyone… I had so much fun I wanted to tell my younger self about it.
A new installment is gonna be released soon, so I'll continue to devote myself to conquering the games.
Tsuzuru: Please devote yourself to our plays!
Masumi: He doesn't grow at all.
Citron: Itaru is Itaru!
Sakuya: Let's play together again!
Itaru: Speaking of which, senpai, how many hours is your total playtime?
Chikage: ...It's a secret.
Itaru: Come on, isn't it fine to spill it now?
Chikage: I have too many save files to count.
Itaru: Seriously?
Citron: What an admirable addict!
Kazunari: Heya, Kazunari Miyoshi here! I played Kiichi in Summer Troupe's fifth play "SHI★NO★BI Misadventuring".
Leading a play was not an easy task, but I had a lot of fun~. All six of us drew togetherーwe made so many memories.
I had a blast doing action scenes with Sumi!
Misumi: Me too~!
Kazunari: I've gotta admit there was pressure in becoming the starring actor, so I'm glad I learned how hard it is to be one.
Because of that, I've come to understand further how everyone feels when they're chosen to be the starring actors!
I'll continue to be your perfect support!
By the way, I've come to cherish my passion for both acting and art even more through this play.
I don't wanna give up either. I don't wanna settle on one. I'll succeed in both. With that said, please continue to take care of me!
Muku: Likewise!
Kumon: I'll be in your care too!
Yuki: I won't lose to you.
Tenma: I'll be stricter during our rehearsals.
Kazunari: Go easy on me on that one!
Misumi: Let's do action scenes together again!
Taichi: I'm Taichi Nanao, playing Chan in Autumn Troupe's fifth play "Fire Up, Mantou Fist!"
I felt complicated back when I was chosen to be the lead actor for this play. It sure made me happy, but I wasn't sure whether I was good enoughーー.
No, this isn't good. Lemme do it one more time! Please cut this part out!
Taichi: They didn't cut this out…!
Banri: They keep this one, huh.
Taichi: Umm, I was so happy and pumped up to be the starring actor. I might make mistakes in certain parts, but I had fun!
I'm so lucky I could lead a play as Autumn Troupe's Taichi Nanao.
I'll keep working hard so that I won't embarrass everyone in Autumn Troupe. I'll be an actor that can make everyone proud!
I'm aiming to be the star performer of Autumn Troupe!
Sakyo: What a thing to say.
Banri: Bring it on.
Juza: I won't lose.
Taichi: Ugh… I should've just settled with the fourth best actor, after all.
Azami: It's too early to give up.
Omi: Haha, let's do our best together.
Tasuku: I'm Tasuku Takato, playing Musashi Miyamoto in Winter Troupe's fifth play "Die by the Sword".
This wasn't my first time leading a play, but I've got to admit it felt kind of different when I did it as a member of MANKAI Company's Winter Troupe.
Through this play, I've got the chance to think about the reason why I'm in this troupe, and what kind of an actor I'm supposed to be.
I'll keep going as an actor of Winter Troupe, Takato Tasuku.
After all, performing with my fellow Winter Troupe members has become an important thing to me.
I don't know what will happen in the future, but I'm going to carefully determine what kind of an actor I'll be.
Azuma: Fufu, you're so stiff.
Guy: It was a very Takato-like message.
Homare: I've got to hand it to Tasuku-kun. He's strict with himself when it comes to acting.
Hisoka: Totally different from Arisu.
Homare: I don't want to hear that from you.
Tsumugi: Guess I need to think about how I should be as an actor too.
Chikage: I'm Chikage Utsuki. I portrayed Oz in Spring Troupe's fourth play "The Wonderful Charlatan of Oz".
My recollection of the play, huh… the only thing I remember is that I've caused troubles.
I've also given you so much trouble that time, director-san.
Izumi: No, it's okay.
Chikage: But well, I'm going to make up for it.
Izumi: It's alright. You don't have to.
Citron: Let's go eat Yakiniku! Chikage will treat us.
Tsuzuru: Sounds great.
Masumi: Let’s invite all troupe members.
Chikage: I got attacked right away, huh.
Chikage: Back when I just entered the troupe, I’ve never thought I’d stay this long.
Nor have I thought I’d spend my days with these feelings…
Since this troupe has become a place where I’ve got a precious family, I need to treasure it. I’ll be in your care.
Sakuya: The same goes for me!
Itaru: I look forward to the yakiniku.
Izumi: I’m fine with curry too!
Chikage: Alright, alright.
Kumon: I’m Kumon Hyodo, playing Souta Akiyama in Summer Troupe’s fourth play “First Crush Baseball”!
First Crush Baseball is the first play I ever performed and the first play I ever led. I was so clueless at first.
But because everyone taught and supported me, I was able to go on until our final performance.
The fact that I could stand on the stage without collapsing until the end made me so happy…
Thanks to this play, I've gained confidence from the fact I could accomplish something.
This is all thanks to everyone in Summer Troupe who accepted me. I’m glad I joined Summer Troupe. I love you all!
Misumi: I love Kumon too!
Kazunari: Me too, me too!
Yuki: But well, your current acting is better than that time.
Tenma: That’s right. You’ve greatly improved.
Kumon: Seriously!? Yeeaaay! I’ll work harder!
Muku: Let’s do our best together!
Azami: I’m Azami Izumida, portraying Abel in Autumn Troupe’s fourth play “DEAD/UNDEAD”.
Back when I ran away from home, I never would have thought I’d perform onstage. But well, I had a blast beating up shitty Sakyo on the stage.
Sakyo: ...Hey.
Azami: I got to do makeup to my heart’s content, and now I feel like I really could go on living with makeup for the rest of my life.
I’m glad I joined this theater troupe. There’s a lot of interesting people here, and I never run out of people to use as guinea pigs when I want to test my new makeup.
I’ll study makeup more and improve my acting.
Banri: Yo, good luck with that.
Juza: I expect a lot from you.
Omi: Ever since this play, our stage photos look nicer than before. It’s all thanks to you, Azami.
Taichi: I’ve become cooler thanks to your makeup too, A-chan!
Sakyo: Putting makeup aside, you still have a lot to learn in acting.
Azami: Shaddup.
Guy: My name is Guy. I played Phantom in Winter Troupe’s fourth play “Le Fantôme de l' Opéra”.
Back when I stood on the stage, I thought I was just going with the flow. But now that I think about it again, everything went as Citronia intended.
Citron: Of course it did.
Guy: I’ve got to know the things Citronia deemed precious after coming to this country and joining this theater troupe.
I myself was able to regain my precious memories and take off the armor that has restrained me for so long.
And as I spend my days here, I continue to discover new sides of myself.
Strangely enough, I don’t hate this. Rather, I want to keep enjoying these changes.
Tsumugi: You were an android at first, right.
Guy: Yes. That was what I believed.
Tasuku: Those days felt like an eternity ago.
Hisoka: ...You’ve changed.
Homare: Yes, and in a good way.
Azuma: You’ve become more human now. That’s great.
Citron: He’s still as hopeless as ever, though.
Guy: I’ll do my best.
Tsuzuru: I’m Tsuzuru Minagi, playing Luke in Spring Troupe’s third play “A Clockwork Heart”.
This play, which I led, was the most unforgettable play for me. Everything is etched deep in my heart, including my self-reflection.
Itaru: Dude, you spoke freaking smoothly in this one.
Masumi: Unbelievable.
Chikage: Were you reading notes?
Tsuzuru: Ughーー.
Izumi: They got you.
Tsuzuru: At the time, I looked back at the reason why I wanted to write scripts and do theater in the first place.
I’d like to keep doing my best in both script writing and acting without throwing away my beginner’s spirit.
And even though I got swayed a lot by my co-lead Citron, he saved me in an unexpected time and place. I appreciate it.
I can’t thank you enough. I look forward to continuing working with you all.
Citron: Same here!
Sakuya: You two are the best pair from Spring Troupe!
Misumi: Hello, I’m Misumi Ikaruga. I played Sky in Summer Troupe’s third play “Captain Sky Pirates”.
You see~ I found 54 triangles during this play~!
Tenma: You sure remember that kind of thing well, huh!
Yuki: What a waste of memorizing skill.
Misumi: Among the triangles I found that time, the one I like the most was the big triangle we saw in the night sky.
Ever since I joined this theater troupe, I found lots of precious triangles. I want to let grandpa know about it one day.
Kazunari: You still have more and more triangles to add to your collection.
Muku: Let’s collect so many triangles you can’t even count them!
Kumon: I’ll help you find them!
Misumi: Yup~! Let’s go find lots of triangles~!
Sakyo: I’m Sakyo Furuichi, portraying Ginji Kazama in Autumn Troupe’s third play “Tales of Chivalry: Ginji the Wanderer”.
I couldn’t stop thinking it was too late for me to be the lead actor, but I’ve gotta admit, I learned a lot at the time. Furthermore, I once again realized I’m still lacking experience.
I’m gonna keep on learning very seriously, shamelessly and move forward.
Banri: Oh shit, so scary, what a scary man.
Azami: So childish.
Sakyo: Age and experience don’t matter on the stage. This is a serious fight. Prepare yourself.
Juza: Bring it on.
Taichi: Somehow, that part just now sounded like a criminal declaration!
Omi: His statement sure is powerful.
Azuma: I’m Azuma Yukishiro, playing Reo Kuto in Winter Troupe’s third play “Nocturnality”.
I can't say I got especially attached to the play just because I played the lead role, but I felt the bond between Winter Troupe members got stronger at that time.
I could take a step forward thanks to Tasuku. I'm glad we performed this play.
Tasuku: I didn't do anything special… I just thought it was necessary for the play.
Homare: So it has something to do with the play in the end.
Hisoka: What a theater fool.
Azuma: But that's just how Tasuku really is.
Tsumugi: Yes, even his dishonest side.
Azuma: Compared to that time, with Guy joining us, the Winter Troupe is changing little by little.
I think this is a nice change, though. I feel at ease with you guys. Look forward to continuing working with you.
Tsumugi: Same here.
Guy: I'll be in your care.
Masumi: I'm Masumi Usui, playing Alice in Spring Troupe's second play "Boy Alice in Wonderland".
….
Izumi: Masumi-kun, the camera is over here! Look here!
Masumi: But I want to look at you…
Izumi: ...I'll move, then.
Masumi: Can I express my feelings for you?
Izumi: I rather have you express your feelings towards the play!
Masumi: ...Itaru was annoying.
Itaru: Heeey.
Masumi: We took a long time to finish rehearsing.
Tsuzuru: That was because you kept trying to impress the director and criticized us too much!
Masumi: Itaru was annoying.
Chikage: You must have been really annoying at that time.
Itaru: …
Masumi: But I think the play turned out great.
Izumi: Yes, I feel the same.
Sakuya: I think so too!
Masumi: My acting has gotten better since that time. I'll continue to improve so much you can't even take your eyes off me. Keep looking at me and me only.
Citron: He kept staring at the director the whole time!
Tsuzuru: That's Masumi for ya.
Yuki: I'm Yuki Rurikawa, portraying Shiro in Summer Troupe's second play "The Adventure for Sardines".
The thing I remember the most during this play was that I caused everyone's troubles, since I struggled to juggle between my position as the lead actor and the costume designer.
Kazunari helped me a lot.
Kazunari: It's no biggie~!
Yuki: But compared to that time, I've grown now.
I mean, it's thanks to the events at the time that I'm now able to balance acting and costume making well.
I only started acting because I wanted to get feedback for the costumes I made, but now I genuinely find acting fun.
I find it fun to stand onstage and produce a play together with everyone. It's a different kind of fun from making costumes.
I've learned a lot of things by doing both, so I won't settle on just one and continue doing them all.
Kumon: Let's continue working together~!
Muku: Let's do our best together!
Misumi: I love Yuki's costumes!
Tenma: Well, your acting has certainly gotten better since that time.
Yuki: You're still as arrogant as ever though.
Tenma: What!?
Omi: I'm Omi Fushimi. I played Wolf in Autumn Troupe's second play "Stranger".
It feels rather embarrassing to have someone shoot me when I've always been the one filming.
For me, this play means much more than just being the play that I led.
It's hard to put it into words, but…
This play made me, who's always been looking at the past, face forward and walk towards the future.
Now, I plan to chase the dream that my friend gave me for my own sake.
Taichi: Good for you, Omi-kun!
Omi: Thanks for your help that time.
Taichi: Your welcome!
Sakyo: Fushimi broke out of his shell during this play.
Banri: His acting changed a lot. I still remember it.
Juza: It was stimulating.
Omi: Haha. I hope I can grow further than that time.
Homare: I'm Homare Arisugawa. I played Tooru Sagishima in Winter Troupe's second play "The Master Likes a Mystery".
For me, the most unforgettable thing during this play was definitely my grandmother's watch.
I feel like this watch gave me the opportunity to be able to touch everyone's hearts little by little.
Especially Hisoka-kun. I never thought he'd do something for the sake of other people, and not just marshmallows.
Hisoka: It's because Arisu was hopeless.
Homare: You're right, I won't deny it. You helped me out back then.
Homare: This play turned out great because of Hisoka-kun and everyone.
Unlike poems, a play is something that you create with other people. It's too difficult for me alone, but that's what makes it very interesting.
No matter how many times I experienced it, I've never gotten tired of it. I think it's a wonderful thing.
Oh! I've found some poem inspiration. Ahemーー.
(video shuts down abruptly)
Guy: Oh, the video got cut.
Homare: Why did you cut off that part!?
Izumi: Huh? That's weird. There must be some technical issues…
Tasuku: He was going off topic, anyway. Perfect timing.
Homare: But that was part of my video message!
Tsumugi: Please let me hear it after this.
Azuma: I’d like to hear it too.
Homare: All right! I shall organize a recitation later, then.

((Thanks for letting me add on to your post, @a3-randomness!!))
Super stoked about OP’s post because I am a nerd who obsessively thinks about these things and spent hours upon hours plotting timelines out. I just wanted to add on to OP’s post with the following revised possible years of birth based on some additional information and my own theories. If a character is not mentioned below, it’s because I am in agreement with OP’s year assignment (I also have the same assumption that the Act 1 story takes place in 2017).
1990: Homare
1992: Tasuku, Tsumugi
1993: Tasuku, Itaru
1999: Sakuya, Banri, Juza
2000: Sakuya, Masumi, Tenma, Taichi
2001: Masumi, Kumon
I came to the above conclusions based on the following:
1. Japanese School Year
The first thing to keep in mind is how the Japanese school system works. Students start first year of elementary school if they are 6 years old by the time the school year starts. The Japanese school year starts in first week of April, so the cut off for starting school is that the student must be 6 years old on or before April 1. This means that students in a particular school grade will span two calendar birth years. For example, one grade of students will have those born in April to December of 2017 AND those born in January to March of 2018.
This would mean that by the time a student graduates high school, they would have turned 18. The school year ends in mid-to late- March, and then there is a spring break of approximately 2 weeks before the new school year starts in April.
2. Itaru and Tasuku are born in the same year
Apparently, in certain dialogue in the Japanese version of the game, Itaru confirms that he and Tasuku are the same age/year. This also lines up with Tasuku being in the same school year as Tsumugi. Based on how the Japanese school system works, Tasuku must have been born two months after Tsumugi to be in the same school year as him. If he was born 9 months before Tsumugi, he would have been in the grade above him (and as far as we can tell, their backstories indicate they were in the same school grade).
If we take this into consideration, then why would Tasuku be listed as 24 in Act 1 and Itaru listed as 23, even if they are supposedly born only two months apart? This brings me to my next two points.
3. The Prologue takes place between March 30 and April 9, 2017
This part of my theory isn’t perfect, but it’s mostly because the A3! timeline is a bit of a hot mess, but I did what I could to reconcile inconsistencies.
Also we’re just going to pretend that all of Act 1 somehow took place in only 12 months despite having gone through seasons/holidays twice and squeezed in like 8 more plays before the Rookies join in Act 2 (which technically starts in April 2018). They’ve obviously been living in a time loop à la Torment Doll.
To begin with, when Izumi first meets Sakuya, he introduces himself as 17 years old. This means that the Prologue must have taken place after March 9 of Sakuya’s second year of high school (i.e. it’s at least the last month of his second year). However it’s most likely that it’s actually after the school year and it’s taking place during their spring break. This is because, when Tsuzuru joins, he is already graduated from high school and is looking for a dorm for university. Though it’s also possible that the school year has already started, but it would only be the first week or two of the school year.
There’s also confirmation that the Prologue takes place in March/April because Izumi mentions that Sakyo is only giving them until the end of the year (and she specifically says 10 more months are left in the year) to put on 4 shows. Now, this is where the inconsistencies come in. If there’s 10 months left, it would make more sense for the Prologue to be in February, but that clashes with Sakuya being 17. And he can’t be 17 turning 18 in a month after February, because then he would be too old to be in third year of high school (and we have no reason to believe he got held back a year or started school later than other students). It would also clash with the fact that he is listed as 18 in Act 2 profile which starts in April 2018 (after his birthday). I’ve kinda had to handwave this away as Izumi miscounting the months or that the Prologue occurs in March (so it’s kiiiiinda 10 months still if we count March as a full month, haha).
More specifically, I believe that the Prologue begins on or after Masumi’s birthday (March 30) and before Tsuzuru’s birthday (April 9). This is because of how Masumi and Tsuzuru’s ages (and others) are listed in their Act 1 profiles.
4. Act 1 ages in character profile are listed as of the date of the start of the Prologue and they age up as Act 1 unfolds (and not as of January 1, 2017 or even December 31, 2017)
This is the only reasonable conclusion I could come up with that would make sense if we take into account the ages of the students in their Act 1 profiles and how the Japanese school system works. Masumi would have to be 16 when he starts his second year of high school and Sakuya would have to be 17 to be starting third year. (Again, this is assuming no one was ever held back a year or started school later than normal).
But, if the ages are as of January 1, 2017, then Masumi should be 15 and Sakuya should be 16 in order to match their grade level. If Sakuya is really 17 on January 1, 2017, then he would be graduating from high school by the end of March 2017 (which is not the case). Which comes back to the fact that Sakuya says he’s 17 as well (and no reason to believe he is lying about his age), so the Prologue must be after his birthday.
So then, could it be that the Act 1 profile ages are what their age would be on December 31, 2017 (i.e. has taken into account everyone’s birthdays passing in 2017)? This also doesn’t make sense when taking into account student ages, in particular, but also conflicts with Tsumugi and Tasuku having been in the same school year. If the ages were as of December 31, 2017 then Itaru should be listed as 24, Tsumugi as 25, Tsuzuru as 19, Banri as 18, Tenma as 17, Yuki as 15, etc. Or else they wouldn’t be in the right school years as listed in their profiles.
So, it only makes sense that the ages are as of when the story starts and they age as time “passes” during the story. For example, those born before April (like Homare, Tasuku, Masumi etc.) already had their birthdays by the time Izumi meets Sakuya for the first time. Meanwhile those who are born April and later haven’t had their birthdays yet. So, if we take Tenma as an example, when Spring Troupe first forms, he is 16, but he turns 17 at some point between Spring’s first play ending and Autumn’s first play starting.
AND THUS CONCLUDES MY THESIS!! 🤣Thanks for letting me hijack your post, OP, and thanks to anyone who bothered to read my word vomit, HAHA.
Also, A3! timeline is a damn nightmare, why did Liber do this to us?!
A3! Game Birth Years

UNKNOWNS: Azuma & Guy….. any ideas? NOTES: 1. Assuming Year 1 takes place in 2017:
Act 4 mentions that it has been 26 years since Mankai theatre was founded (1991 according to logo)
1991 + 26 = 2017
2. Based off their age by the start of the year (meaning how old they are during Jan 1).
This is obviously not official information, but I think this makes sense as Sakuya becomes a part-timer in Year 2 and Banri becomes a university student, which is also normally true for people born in 1999 in Japan/America.

A3! Main Story - Prologue
Finally I decided to start this translation project! I’ve started playing this game a couple of months and now I want to read and translate the story as I go along since it has event stories that I want to read too~ ^^ (Didn’t want to accumulate too many in the end ^^;)
I actually started playing this because I kept seeing fanart of it from Yamako Sensei, and heard that the story of it is really good and began to get interested XD
PS: Since this game asked the user to set a name for the heroine, I’ve shamelessly used my nickname “Momo” ^^; (Her default name is Tachibana Izumi) For the translation, I’ll use “me”, similar to how I translate Ensemble Stars’ / Viidog Code’s stories~ (Since if I put Izumi, it will be confusing when my screenshots has the name as “Momo” instead ^^;)
Anyway as always, the summary of the story can be found below. Translation may not be 100% accurate due to my poor Japanese skills~
アバン / Avan (Prior in Time in french): いつかの未來 / Sometime in the Future
The story starts off with Sakuya thinking to himself at the backstage, as he noticed his group members who were all waiting as they’re about to start their performance. Sakuya could feel the warmth outside where the audience were waiting, along with the hope and excitement coming through the other end of the curtain.
There’s Masumi (black hair guy) who’s cool like always, and Tsuzuru (brown hair guy) who’s reading through the script again. Sakuya worried that Tsuzuru might ended up wanting to change the script at the last minute. (I doubt he won’t ^^;)
Itaru (blonde hair guy) seems abit nervous, so Sakuya thought to himself that he should buck up and show that he’s a good leader to put him at ease. On the other hand, Citron (guy on the left) was calm and Sakuya wondered what he is thinking actually.
Sakuya thought to himself to calm down and that everything will be alright, since they’ve practised so much to come so far. He has been awaiting this day that he can’t stop smiling and feeling excited about it. Today shall be the day they’ll bloom.
“Director, please let us bloom!”
Chapter 1: 演劇の聖地 / The Sacred Land of Acting
Heading back all the way to the beginning before the last chapter even happen, the story starts with “me” struggling to find a theater called ‘MANKAI Theater” as “I” referred to the map in the flyer “I” had in my hand.
“I” had came to the place that’s referred to as the “Sacred Land of Acting”, Veludo Way. Even though “I’ve” been here before when “I” was small, “I” do not remember it at all.
Along the way, “I” noticed a guy who doesn’t seems to be feeling well while he walked past “me”, and thus “I” went up to him to see if he needs any help. Another passer-by guy came up to us to see what’s going on too. Just then, a guy named Haruto ran up to catch up with the guy that looked unwell, questioning him why he had ran away from the hospital.
As the two started to get into an argument, “I” suddenly realised that they were putting up a story act, as the passerbys commented about it as they gathered around. Pulling aside the passerby guy who was confused on what was happening, “I” told him that it’s best that we keep our distance from the actors.
Tasuku (the sick guy) started to get agitated, as he yelled in despair that his illness isn’t going to get any better. While Haruto tried to deny it, Tasuku revealed that he had already know the truth as he had heard this while catching Haruto and the doctor discussing about it one day. He didn’t want to die without knowing anything, and asked Haruto to explain more about his illness to him. Haruto asked Tasuku to head back to the hospital and they’ll talk about it, saying that they’ll attract attention if they discussed it here. And… the story act ended here. (It was just a short acting scene that has a storyline ^^)
The passerbys were impressed by their acting, saying that they’re good since they’re from GOD-za (lit. GOD theater). The passerby guy from earlier then realised that all of this was an act all along. “I” explained to him that that was a story act just now, which is a type of performance put up by actors to earn tips and to also promote their acting skills at the same time.
Tasuku headed over to us, apologizing for worrying us just now, and he thanked us for getting worried about him too ^^ Smiling to us, he hoped that we would have a chance to head to GOD-za to view their performance next time. Just then, the passerby guy asked Tasuku whether the theater company is accepting any more new members, and thus Tasuku asked him whether he was interested to join. The passerby replied that he’s still considering, though his first priority was mainly interested on whether there’ll be any lodging provided by the theater company. Unfortunately, GOD-za doesn’t provide any, and all the members either rented lodging that’s near to the company, or they actually stay nearby initially.
Seeing that this guy wanting to join a theater company reminded “me” of my past, as “I” started to feel nostalgic and thus gave some tips for GOD-za too for their wonderful performance. Seeing how good their acts are, “I” can’t help but be amazed of how high the quality and level of the theater companies at Veludo Way are.
Continuing on “my” way, “I’ve” finally reached the venue - MANKAI Company. It’s weird that the theater seems empty even though there’s a notice saying that there’ll be a performance today.
A flashback occurred as “I” thought back to the conversation “I” had with “my” mum back at home. “I” had received a letter that was sent to “my” dad from the theater company that he belonged to, and thus it had become the reason that “I’ve” came here, to see if “I” could find any information that’s related to “my” dad. “My” dad had left home for eight years already, and though “my” mum said that she doesn’t care about him anymore and had treat him as he’s dead, deep down “I” know that she still worries and cares for him.
The letter was sent by someone called “Matsukawa Isuke”, and he must knew “my” dad somehow. Perhaps he’s someone from the theater company?
Just then, “I” met a Yakuza outside the theater, and he asked what “I’m” doing here. Seeing that he seems suspicious and quite scary, “I” decided to lie and told him that “I” didn’t receive any letter and was just a “passerby A” passing through XD (Omg… that sounds so... unnatural, anyone will be even more suspicious after hearing that answer =w=“) “I” looked at him and wondered perhaps my dad had borrowed a lump of money from him that’s why he’s here to chase after the debt.
The yakuza guy asked me to go away if “I” have no business here, as it’s about to get dangerous here. He called for his subordinate to operate a hydraulic shovel, and a man quickly dashed out from the theater, yelling not to destroy the theater! (… It’s starting to get abit weird and intense over here, and we’re just on the first chapter OWO”)
Chapter 2: 襲來! シヨベルカー / Attack! Hydraulic Shovel
A commotion soon followed as the man from the theater tried to stop the subordinate from destroying the signboard. “I” noticed it and realised that “I” seems to have seen this signboard before, but firstly, I tried to stop the subordinate too by saying that it’s dangerous to operate the shovel when there’s people around.
The theater man begged “Furuichi” (the yakuza guy) to stop, but he refused, saying that this is the action to be taken as he had not return the loan by the deadline. The theater guy begged once again that he’ll have money when the theater started its performance, and thus might have enough money to return at least the interest. Reluctantly, Furuichi decided to order his subordinate to stop for a moment and asked what’s the number of audience that’s going to watch the performance and how long there is to go till the opening. Turns out… there’s nobody coming to watch the performance at all and the performance was due to start in 3 minutes?! (What?! OAO”)
Furuichi decided to start destroying the theater again after hearing that. (Since he must think there’s no way there’ll be enough audience to come and watch later on to earn enough to cover the interest XD I don’t blame him ^^:) The theater guy begged again, claiming that there’ll be guests coming later on definitely… but while he’s saying that he kept “eyeing” “me”… (Is he hinting me to be a guest? I think so ^^;) “I” decided to step up and said “I’m” indeed a guest, but Furuichi dissed “me”, saying that “I” was claiming that “I” was just a passerby A just a few moments ago XD (Ah~ He still remembered what a stupid lie “I” said just now TWT)
Thank goodness “I” actually have the flyer of the theater company in my hand, and it’s being used by the theater guy as a form of evidence in the end XD (So anyone with a flyer = potential audience OWO”) “I” persuaded Furuichi to stop and wait till the end of the performance, since there might be audience coming to watch later on, and even told him to come and watch the performance too. Furuichi asked “me” whether “I’ve” watched the performance of this theater company recently, and “I” replied that though “I’ve” never watched their performance before, “I” remembered seeing this signboard before, so there’s a possibility that “I’ve” came here before when “I” was young.
In the end, the theater guy urged us to watch this performance, saying that it’s actually the first performance of their new member today. It’ll seems too bad and mean to destroy the signboard before his first performance, and thus Furuichi decided to halt and asked his subordinate to remain on standby as he headed into the theater with “me”.
Till the start of the performance, there isn’t anyone entering the theater at all, and thus it ended up with only just Furuichi and “me” sitting together in the middle of the theater… (That’s going to be very awkward =w=“) Furuchi told me not to regret stopping him and stepping into this theater, as the performance began to start… (How come I have a very bad feeling about this… Orz)
Chapter 3: 全力お遊戲会 / Full Force of a “Play”
(*Note: Not the acting “play” that you might think of, but more of the playing kind of “play” instead… like play pretend?)
Noticing that the stage has a set made out of just cardboard, “I” can’t help but wonder if this is just a pretend play put up by the theater company, but ultimately decided to think that perhaps this is just a part of the act overall.
The performer began to come on stage, and seeing how nervous this actor is as his moves were really robotic, “I” guessed that this must be the new actor on his first performance that the theater guy was talking about just now. The new actor began to say this lines, and that made me confirmed that he’s indeed the new actor based on his newbie acting skills ^^;
(I actually already want to say things about the lines when he started acting, who on earth wrote the script?… OWO” It literally started off with “Yah~ I’m Kadota Romeo, a first year at high school! I have a one-sided crush on my classmate! - It sounded extremely chessy with this introduction ^^;…)
“I” thought that perhaps there’ll be other actors coming on stage later on, but turns out it was only “him” in the act in the end, other than a parrot?! (Why is there a parrot acting in a performance actually?! OWO) Even though this arrangement does seems unique in a way, “I” don’t find the performance particularly interesting either. Furuichi started sighing while watching, and “I” couldn’t help but to sigh either after watching too. (Which means it’s really THAT bad… D:) However, “I” noticed that new actor wasn’t affected by the fact that there’s hardly any audience watching him act at all, and even got more and more relaxed by the end of the performance as his nervousness fade away gradually.
At the end of the performance, Furuichi only had a comment - “The script is terrible.” (which I think I’ll agree whole heartedly if I had watched the entire thing) “I” can’t help but to feel bad for the new actor, he seems to really have the ambition and desire to act, so he definitely deserve to go to a better theater company that has a better script and stage actually TWT TWT
Furuichi decided to destroy the theater straight away, and that made “me” exclaimed that he’s being mean to do this when he has just finished watching the show, seeing that the actor(s?) were all working so hard to put up the performance. He replied that it doesn’t matter how hard the actor(s?) worked, if the result is shown that it seems more like a pretend play instead of an actual play itself, since a theater company’s act should be something that people would pay to watch. (Harsh… but true… TWT I can’t disagree on this part…)
Furuichi also added on that there’s always something in life that you just can’t can’t achieve or make it no matter how you tried, and that made “me” think of an incident in my past, where “I’m” told to give up on acting, as “I” just have no talent in acting at all no matter how much “I’ve” tried.
The new actor overheard our conversation, and quickly rushed over to ask if it’s true that the theater will cease to exist anymore. He revealed that he has actually just joined this theater company yesterday, and even though he knew his acting skills are still terrible, he loves acting and thus begged to Furuichi to not destroy the theater.
(It’s only at this time that “I” realised that the theater guy was actually the manager of the theater company owO”…)
The theater guy (manager) rushed into the scene once again, saying that he had to protect this theater company no matter what. Furuichi called him “Matsukawa”, saying that he had already gave him countless chances and there’s no more room for negotiations. Asking the manager more about how the theater was like back then, had him answered that the theater used to flourish and doing really good when it was under the directions of “Tachibana Yukio”, which “I” then realised he was talking about my father. (The heroine’s surname will always be “Tachibana” no matter what name you gave her~)
The manager realised that “I” was the daughter of Yukio, and explained that he was actually the one who wrote the letter to him, which “I’ve” received at the beginning of the story and thus came here because of it. (You might be sharp eye to realise it when Furuichi called him Matsukawa just now XD) As much as “I” wanted to know the whereabouts of my dad, the manager said that he doesn’t know either, since he had disappeared one day from the company, and no one could contact him either. The manager had wrote a letter to his home, hoping that he had went home, but alas, “I” haven’t even met him for the last eight years =w=“…
The manager suddenly claimed that there’ll definitely be someone available to help even if Yukio isn’t around, but “I” noticed he was “eyeing me” once again… =w=“ (Is he hinting me to help him again? Orz) “I” volunteered myself, but Furuichi said that it won’t be enough, since he said not only that will it be difficult to manage a theater company, this theater company is different from other companies. The theater that we were at now solely belongs to the theater company - MANKAI Company, unlike other theater companies who will only rent theaters when they need to put up a performance. Apparently, a large amount of cost is required to maintain the theater, and also the lodging provided by the theater company as well. (Wow.. that’s really alot to pay for when they’re keeping it empty for years… =w=“)
MANKAI Company’s best years was eight years ago, when there’s alot of profit as there’s four units performing, where each unit will perform in each season of the year - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. And thus without at least four units to keep performing throughout the year, it’s hard to even keep up with the costing that’s needed to maintain these facilities.
Seeing that the theater company was even hard to survive on its own with only just one member with the manager (not counting the parrot of course ^^;), Furuichi called for his subordinate to destroy the theater. As “I” couldn’t bear to see the theater company that my dad has built up to be gradually disbanded in the end (since the company will find it hard to continue without a theater), “I” decided to make up a lie on the spot, and told Furuichi that my dad had probably said that he’ll passed on the company for me to take care in the case that he’s not available.
“I” tried to get the manager to put up an act with me to get Furuichi to believe that it may be true, but at this time, the manager turns out to be clueless… saying that he hasn’t hear anything about this from Yukio… (Ah!! This is the time you are supposed to go along with me like how I did followed you just now! ><”)
Thinking that things will be alright if “I” managed to get four units of members in the end, “I” lied to Furuichi that “I’ve” actually had members ready to join this company. Furuichi doesn’t seems persuaded though, and asked how many of them are joining and hoped that they aren’t all just passerby instead. “I” continued my lie and said that there’ll be two people that are going to join, and turns out he decided to turn the tables and demanded me to bring these two people to see him by sunset, and definitely not just passerby who had no intention of joining the company. (Ahhh~!! What have I done?! OAO”)
And thus the deadline was given till sunset, and if “I” failed to do so, Furuichi will asked his subordinate to really take down the signboard. (For now they’ll just be on standby ^^;)
Chapter 4: ストリート / Story ACT
Once we headed outside onto the street, the manager was already in a happy and relaxed mood, thinking that everything will be solved now that “I’m” here. (It was really a total attitude change from just now… =w=“) “I” had to crash his happiness by telling him that we had to find some new members fast, and told them that it was an act that “I” put up at the theater just now by telling Furuichi that we already had new members when actually… we don’t. (”I” just don’t want to admit that it’s a lie I guess ^^;)
Trying to cheer the manager and new actor up from the disappointing news, “I” urged them to be on the search for the new members together, but the manager was being all mopey and negative, saying that since the past members of this theater company had all left, with only one member in this company and the ratings of the company all crashed to the bottom, there’s no way anyone would want to join this theater company. (…. which I agree unfortunately D:) The new actor was still fired up though, saying that he doesn’t want to give up yet, and that made “me” think that he’s actually a really good kid after all~ TWT TWT (The way “I” talked definitely makes me think that she’s way older than the new actor actually =w=“ Since she kept thinking of him like a child somehow~)
The new actor introduced himself as Sakuma Sakuya. And “I” tried again to motivate the manager to be more positive like Sakuya, though deep down “I” really felt irritated about the manager. (Haha, “I” really don’t like him that much ^^;)
The three of us put our heads together and tried to think of a way to get new members. Approaching people one by one to ask them proved to be ineffective, as not everyone who passed by on the road would even be interested in acting in the first place. Finally “I” decided on organising a story act so as to grab the attention of all the passerby in an instant (especially those are interested in acting will definitely came to take a look ^^) The theme was decided to introduce about the good points of MANKAI Company, so as to attract people who would be willing to join.
“I” asked the manager whether there’s any merit in joining MANKAI Company, and turns out that other than providing lodging, the company also provides both breakfast and dinner made by the manager, so this could be a merit for new aspiring actors, as they usually started off with a low pay. Another merit would be since they had a theater of their own, there’s no lack of practice area to use too!
Thus, we quickly decided on how the story act would be, the manager would act as himself being the manager, “I” would be the director, and Sakuya would be an aspiring actor who’s auditioning to join the company, and the scene would be in a middle of an audition.
However, when the story act started, the manager did a terrible job by even inserting a self introduction of himself in it. (”I” even dissed him in “my” thoughts, and then suddenly realised that it’s possible that the terrible script used in the performance just now was written by the manager actually =w=“) Sakuya was still alright being in his own role, but he was still nervous and actually when it comes to acting, “I’m” not that good either, in the end the passerby who walked past and watched us act thought that we’re going through a punishment game instead D:
“I” was feeling discouraged after hearing all the snickering from the passerby, and admitted to the manager and Sakuya that though “I’ve” joined a theater group before, my acting skills aren’t great to the point of being able to act as a main character. However, they didn’t blame “me” at all, and the manager even encouraged “me” by saying he’s even more useless than “me”, which led “me” to thinking whether he’s a positive or negative person actually. (Since initially he was so negative just a few moments ago =w=“)
Chapter 5: 日暮れまで / Until The Sun Sets
After trying for a long time, “we” didn’t have any success to attract an audience at all. Seeing that Sakuya seems to be tired already, “I” proposed that we try again at a new location.
Just then, “I” noticed someone staring at us and realised it was a guy who actually has quite a good-looking face. (Welp, I didn’t realised that “I’m” such a person who looks at faces too OWO”) “I” realised he has been staring at us for quite long, and wondering that perhaps he’s interested in acting, “I” went up and talked to him. (And then his gaze started to sway as he’s shocked that “I’m” approaching him - that was cute XD)
Sakuya came over and called the guy “Masumi”, claiming that he had known him as they went to the same high school, and Masumi is his junior. (Masumi’s full name is Usui Masumi) However, Masumi doesn’t know Sakuya at all though, and that made Sakuya abit sad to know that D:
“I” asked Masumi whether he’ll be interested to join this theater company if he’s interested in acting in the first place, but that only led him to asking “me” whether “I’m” in the company. “I” wanted to say the truth was that “I” was only just helping out, but the manager interrupted “me”, saying that OF COURSE “I’m” in the theater company as the main director overall. (When did “I” even volunteer for that?! OWO”) The manager whispered to “me” that this was needed to get Masumi to join as Masumi said he’s joining only because “I’m” in the company.
And… that’s how we managed to get our 2nd member, though “I” feel bad that it’s through lies again… (”I” have no plans to be the director and lead this theater company at all yet actually D:)
Since Masumi had joined us, “I” asked him to participate in the story act with us, and somehow he actually does a great job in it. (”I” must be feeling that “I’ve” struck gold in finding such a talent suddenly XD)
However, Masumi is quite a weird kid, always asking for “my” opinion on how he is after every line =w=“ (Yep, I’m sure at this point he definitely has a crush on the director >///<)
Chapter 6: 最後のチャンス / Last Chance
However, when the sun was setting, we had yet to find one more additional member to join us. Feeling disappointed that we’re so close to succeeding (since it’s already a rare chance to get Masumi to join us), “I” unexpectedly found the passerby guy whom “I’ve” met in the afternoon.
“I” remembered that he was on the lookout for a theater group with accommodations, and thus quickly dashed over to ask him if he was interested. He was interested when the manager said that there’ll be two meals included, and thus we found someone who might be a new member!
Masumi wasn’t pleased that “I’m” finding another guy when “I” already have him, and commented isn’t him alone good enough for me already ^^; (He totally sound like he’s jealous XD)
The passerby guy was shocked that he’s being considered to join a theater group, as he claimed that he’s just a beginner who doesn’t have any acting experiences beforehand. Sakuya and the manager tried to encourage him by saying that they don’t have any acting experiences either. (Though for the manager to say he doesn’t have any when he’s already in the company for eight years… That’s bad Orz)
The passerby guy continued saying that he had wished to be a scriptwriter actually more than an actor, and “I” decided to let him be our scriptwriter too, on the condition that he doubles up as an actor. (Since “I” believed that whatever he wrote will definitely be better than the horrible script from the last performance =w=“) He agreed, and introduced himself as “Minagi Tsuzuru”. (Yeah! Finally we have our 3rd member! - And there’s Masumi being jealous again grumbling that he can write a script too… Is it me or he seems to be jealous of Tsuzuru suddenly ^^;)
Now that we have all the members that’s required, we quickly rushed back to the theater before sunset to meet Furuichi. (The manager was already tired when we just started running though ^^;)
We’ve reached the theater, and Furuichi was awaiting for us there, as he seems impressed that we’ve not fled and came back to him with the new members. Even though he thought that we’re just lucky to get through the crisis this time, Furuichi said that this was just the beginning as it’s impossible for the theater company to continue even if it has two new members.
Firstly, these members who will be forming the first unit - the Spring Troupe, will have to put up a performance in order to start earning money for the company. “I’ve” estimated that it would take at least half a year to train them and prepare for the performance (since they’re all beginners), but for Furuichi that’s too long, and he demanded that the performance must be held in the midst of next month OAO” (That’s like just a month plus to prepare everything?!! OAO”)
The manager started complaining of course, shouting that Furuichi was being mean like a demon, and even dissed him that perhaps he wanted to be a popular character by having a “S” trait. (That comment is definitely a 4D, out of the moment for the players XD)
Furuichi said that he’s actually being kind to us by giving us a last chance, and state that he’s going to state the three conditions we’re going to fulfill, on the condition that if we’ve fulfilled everything then he won’t destroy the theater anymore.
“I’ve no idea of the crisis that was to be fallen on us at that time, and also the countless meeting of various people and touching moments. And my job is to let the various actors under my care, to bloom.”
The End.
Whew! It was quite a nerve-wrecking ride so far, and we’re just beginning TWT TWT~ It was a must to at least go through the prologue + a few chapters later on in order to finish the newbie tutorial, so I’m glad to have taken the chance to read it as I actually really enjoyed reading it.
One thing that I forgot to state in the beginning was that the story was actually fully voiced if you download the version with the voice when starting a chapter, and thus the enjoyment definitely rise when I get to hear the voices and feel the emotions coming from the characters >////<
I look forward to meeting the rest of the Spring Troupe too, and wonders how they’ll get along ^^… Since from the character profiles on the website, they all seems to vary in personalities, appearance and age (Wonder how they’ll clash into fireworks hahaha XD)
PS: Next episode will start with the Spring Troupe’s stories~! I have read some chapters already, so hopefully I’ll be able to come up with a post soon ^^

A3! Usui Masumi - Translation [SSR] First Love Horse Riding Club (2/3)
*Please read disclaimer on blog; default name set as Izumi
---
Izumi: (There’s no way I thought that we’d end up doing a horseback riding experience…)
Instructor: —That’s all for the explanation. You’ve put your supporting gear on, so shall we get started right away?
Izumi: Yes! I’ll be in your care today.
*neigh*
Izumi: Ah, this guy is the horse we’ll ride today?
Instructor: Yep. One that we take pride in, and his name is “Spice Inochi”.
Izumi: !
Masumi: What’s that, what a weird name.
Izumi: Spice life*…! It’s a really great name, huh!
Masumi: If you say that, then I think so too.
Izumi: I feel like I’ll be able to get along well with this guy…! Nice to meet you, Spice Inochi!
Spice Inochi: *Blow, blow*…**
Izumi: Fufu, he sure is friendly and cute. Here, here…
Masumi: … …I don’t like this guy. He’s getting too overly friendly with you. Even if he’s a horse, I won’t hand Director over.
Izumi: Enough, Masumi-kun! Don’t get the weird feeling that you need to compete with him!
-pause-
Instructor: You’ve grabbed the reins, right? So then, first, let’s get him to walk slowly.
Izumi: (Wahh… so riding a horse feels like this! My viewpoint is high! The wind feels nice…!)
Instructor: It’s great, right? It seems like you’ve gotten used to it, so how about trying a little trot?
Izumi: Okay. There we go… Wahh, it’s a lot shakier than I thought—kyahhh!?
Masumi: Director!
Izumi: (This is bad, I’ll lose my balance—!)
Spice Inochi: *Whinny—*!
Izumi: Uh… H-huh?
Instructor: Are you alright!?
Izumi: Y-yes. Thanks to this guy who stopped immediately and leaned his body for me, I somehow… Thank you, Spice Inochi.
Masumi: … …It’s frustrating, but I’ll thank you. Thanks for protecting her.
Spice Inochi: *Whinny*!
Instructor: Shall you two change places now? Ma’am, please take a rest to calm down as well.
Izumi: I’ll take you up on that offer. Good luck, Masumi-kun.
Masumi: Yeah, watch me. Because I’ll show you riding so perfect that you’ll be captivated.
-pause-
Masumi: —uh!?
*neigh*
Izumi: Masumi-kun, are you ok!?
Masumi: Mm, I’m fine…
Izumi: (For some reason suddenly, it feels like the horse’s movements became rough…) It looks just like a rodeo.)
Masumi: …Maybe my compatibility with this guy is the worst.
Instructor: Hmmm… Perhaps, it might be that he thought of you as a rival.
Masumi: ! Then he also, towards Director…?
Izumi: No, no, there’s no way…
Masumi: …I definitely won’t hand you over.
Izumi: Don’t take it so seriously!
Regular guest: —Hmph, it’s awful at running as usual, huh?
Masumi: ?
Izumi: (Who…?)
Regular guest: A horse with a rough temper, and that’s picky about the human who rides it is not worth considering. Letting it go was the right choice after all.
Izumi: …Um, could it be that you’re Spice Inochi’s…?
Regular guest: I’m its previous owner. I took it in to raise it as a racehorse but it’s always been that way, see. I sold it here because I can’t use it.
Izumi: “Can’t use”, putting it that way…!
Regular guest: Isn’t it the truth? Playing around with amateurs suits something useless.
Izumi: —. (What’s with this guy, he’s really disgusting…!)
Regular guest: Well, because of that, I don’t want the likes of amateurs who can’t do anything but fawn over horses to interfere, ok? Also, a little girl who hardly knows anything either is…
Izumi: Hey…!
Masumi: ...!
---
*I decided to leave "Inochi" in the horse's name in romanized form as it's written in katakana (スパイスイノチ), and here, Izumi specifically uses the kanji for inochi (命: life) to point out the reference—so to distinguish the two. **I'm using English horse noise words because it sounded even more awkward trying to literally write down the Japanese sound words lol

Spring Troupe 7th Play: Magician’s Pure Love Translation Ch7-8
Ah, it’s getting there. I really want to see what Chikage will say to Masumi, but that has to wait for another chapter apparently. For now, enjoy chapter 7 and 8~
Ch1-2 / / Ch3-4 / / Ch5-6 / / Ch7-8 / / Ch9-10 / / Epilogue
Disclaimer:
A3! is owned by Liber Entertainment
EDIT: I’m sorry for the translation fail! After translating chapter 10 and understanding the whole story of the play, I realized that I’ve been interpreting their practice dialogues wrong here! Fixed it now, but my bad...
Director:
*phone call*
Eh!! Really!?
Kasumi:
Yeah, the special paperback issue was well received, so it became a talk to make a WEB issue for “Spotlight”.
We would like to do an interview to promote Spring Troupe 7th performance as well, are you okay with this?
Director:
Yeah! Of course!
Kasumi:
Everytime a new performance is out, I would like you to support me with updating the WEB issues accordingly.
Director:
Woah, thank you so much!
Kasumi:
Actually, I really want to do the interview with everyone in Spring Troupe but…
Since it’s this kind of article, I’ll let you talk with the lead and co-lead beforehand.
A bit of talks about the training procedure and the contents of the story, I would also like to shoot some gravures, what do you think?
Director:
Sounds fine! I’m looking forward to work with you!
--Yeah. Yeah! Then, excuse me!
<Shifts to Lesson Room>
Director:
Masumi-kun, Chikage-san, can I talk to you for a moment?
Masumi:
What is it?
Chikage:
Anything going on?
Director:
I received a call from Kasumi-san, this time, he wanted to do a special article about Spring Troupe 7th performance on the WEB version of “Spotlight”.
He was requesting for an interview and gravure photoshoot.
Masumi:
Understood.
Chikage:
I don’t mind.
Director:
Then, let’s go to Nadeshiko Publishing together next week!
(Masumi-kun is looking at me properly when talking this time.
I thought it would be a good idea to talk with him privately, but maybe I should just leave him alone after all.)
<Short Time Skip>
Chikage:
Sigh, you’re an excellent disciple you know.
I think you would be able to surpass Mirage.
Masumi:
That can’t be. She is-- Her very existence is art itself.
Chikage:
You’re so deep into your first love.
Masumi:
--You, you’re wrong! It’s just that, she’s the magician I admired since I was small and she’s what I aim to become--
Chikage:
Right right. It’s too blinding for an old man like me, you’re going to crush my eyes.
Director:
(Yeah, Masumi-kun and Chikage-san’s conversation feels good.
The next one will be the final scene. Mirage shatters into pieces and the climax will reveal everything…)
Itaru:
Thank you. For loving Mirage.
Masumi:
…
Director:
(Masumi-kun…?
It’s supposed to be a scene where Kiel cries after hearing Kigutsudou’s words…)
Itaru:
…Kiel-kun?
Masumi:
--
…Sorry. Let’s do it one more time.
Itaru:
Thank you. For loving Mirage.
Masumi:
--
Director:
(Masumi-kun, as I thought he’s stuck.)
--It’s about time, so let’s stop the practice here for today.
Masumi:
…
Itaru:
Otsukare.
Sakuya:
Good work today!
Director:
Masumi-kun, for the scene earlier--
Masumi:
--Sorry, I have something to do for university.
Director:
Ah…
(Before practice started, he was looking at me normally.
As I thought, maybe something’s going on…)
Chikage:
…
<Shifts to Lounge>
Chikage:
…
Sigh, you’re an excellent disciple you know.
I think you would be able to surpass Mirage.
Hisoka:
…
Chikage:
…What is it.
Hisoka:
…You’re practising properly. I’m impressed.
Chikage:
What’s that even.
Hisoka:
…You’re the co-lead right? How’s the situation right now?
Chikage:
Well, I have gained experiences from the last few performances, the practice is going well too.
The role this time was written for me so it’s considerably easier, I think I can say that there’s no problem right now, but…
Something seems to be wrong with Masumi.
Hisoka:
Masumi?
Chikage:
Outside of the performance and practice, he’s been pretty worrying with his moods going up and down, it’s starting to affect practice too.
Hisoka:
…He’s the lead after all, isn’t it going to be fine if Chikage just consult with him.
Chikage:
Nah, most probably, it’s related to Director-san.
It’s hard for me to step in.
Hisoka:
…Why?
Chikage:
Such pure love that Masumi has for Director-san, I just can’t put my words into it.
Hisoka:
???
Chikage:
That’s why, for me, things like romance or love is--
Hisoka:
Chikage, you have it too right, the feelings of love.
When you’re protecting your family for example, I think even now, looking at you being worried about Masumi is a form of love.
Chikage:
--
Hisoka:
Chikage… You’ve changed.
Chikage:
That’s pretty annoying to hear it from you.
…But if I find the opportunity to talk to him, I’ll try.
Hisoka:
…The consultation fee. The limited edition marshmallow from that famous chocolatier.
Chikage:
Don’t get carried away.
<Shifts to Publishing Office>
Kasumi:
Alright, then we’re done over here!
Director:
Thank you so much!
Kasumi:
Ah, I’m looking forward to the issue this time…!
Sakuya-kun seems to have a pretty interesting role!
Director:
Fufu. We look forward to see you in the theatre.
Kasumi:
Then, how’s the schedule for the supervision and publication--
Director:
Ah, yeah--
Masumi:
…
Chikage:
Masumi, we should get out of here first.
Masumi:
…Hinamori Kasumi.
Kasumi:
?
Masumi:
I want to ask you something.
Kasumi:
Eh? What, what? I’ll listen to anything you have.
Masumi:
--
Director:
?
(What is it I wonder, Masumi-kun seemed to be interested in something…
Is it maybe something that I can’t listen to.)
--Then, I’ll be taking my leave first.
Chikage:
…Director-san, I’ll stay here for a bit.
Director:
Please do so.
(Even Chikage-san, I’m pretty sure he feels that something’s wrong with Masumi-kun these days.
This change was unthinkable considering Chikage-san when he first joined the troupe. I’m glad I can depend on Chikage-san now.)
Then, Kasumi-san, excuse me.
Kasumi:
Yeah, good work today.
Masumi:
…
Kasumi:
Is it something that’s hard to say in front of Director.
Masumi:
I want to listen to your view about love.
Kasumi:
Eh!
Chikage:
Oi, you shouldn’t just drop the bomb like that…
Kasumi:
You want to have a love talk with this uncle over here!?
Chikage:
--
Kasumi:
If you want to have a love talk, this cramped office is not the place, let’s go to a café to talk!
We can continue over there!
Chikage:
How about your work?
Kasumi:
It’s fine, it’s fine!
Woah, I’m happy! It’s been a while since I have a love talk with someone else!
<End of Chapter 7>
Kasumi:
--So, the fact that Masumi-kun’s requesting to share love stories, maybe you’re in love with someone?
Masumi:
I’m always in love with the Director.
Kasumi:
Eh!? Director you mean, Yukio’s daughter!?
Are you serious!?
Masumi:
Since I saw her doing the street act for the theatre, I only have my eyes for her.
The reason I entered the troupe, the reason I started acting, everything was because she’s there.
Kasumi:
Woah… I see, I see, amazing! You have the will of steel!
Masumi:
I want her to look at me, long for me, and for that sake, I’ve been doing my best at every performance.
Kasumi:
I see, I see. Since it’s for the sake of someone you like, you’ll do your best on whatever comes to you! I know that feeling!
Masumi:
…But, recently, I’m quite lost.
If, by chance that she ended up marrying another man…
She won’t be looking at me anymore…. And I really don’t know what to do then…
I don’t think I can even continue with acting.
Kasumi:
It’s because that you like her that you’re that worried!! I understand!!
Chikage:
(The tension here is amazing.)
Masumi:
I don’t want to imagine that kind of future… No matter what happened, I will continue to love her with all my heart in this lifetime.
But, if that future really comes…
What should I do with my feeling, with all the love that are meant for her, I really can’t imagine it.
I hate myself who are shaken, who are not able to see her eye to eye now. Whatever love is, I don’t understand it anymore.
Kasumi:
You have been thinking a lot even though you don’t understand it!! I understand!!
Chikage:
(Do you understand or do you not understand…)
Masumi:
Last time, Sakuya was telling me about how he admire your family.
That’s why, I want to know what you think about love after getting married.
I’m pretty sure you know more about love than me.
Kasumi:
Oh, me!? That’s… I’m getting a little embarrassed here.
The story of my love and marriage huh… It’s a bit long if you want to hear about it.
This is a story after I left MANKAI company.
I was thinking that I want to support the theatre troupe in my own way, and through the help of a friend, I entered a publishing company.
That is, Nadeshiko Publishing.
I was assigned to a theatre related magazine due to my enthusiasm, even thought I was still inexperienced.
But I didn’t know a lot of stuffs about publications despite my age.
That me back then, it was the editor-in-chief, my wife, who patiently helped me along the way.
Even though she’s younger than me, she has more experience as an editor, more than anything else though… I really liked her handwriting.
I was told a lot of tough things, but when I passed her my work for the editing-check, I ended up liking her patient and neat remarks written in all red.
I liked my work in publication, I was happy that she was there with me too, it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with her.
Everything was like a dream, following my personality, I really thought that it was my one and only fated love in this lifetime.
To be honest, I’ve had a lot of times when I was depressed due to the work that I wasn’t used to, but I wanted to be acknowledged by her so I did my best and push through.
I chose this new life, I was feeling guilty for leaving the troupe too, the reason I was able to continue with work was because she was there…
Some people might think that it’s an impure motive, but for me, she’s a really important support system for my heart.
I was able to overcome my weakness and for me who has given up on theatre, she became a light in this new life of mine.
That’s why, I told her my feeling, we got married, and the moment our daughters were born, it was the happiest time of my life.
Kasumi:
My story might be a bit different from Masumi-kun. but because of our love for that one person our lives have changed.
Masumi:
…Yeah.
Kasumi:
When my daughters were born, it was hard to take care of 3 babies at the same time, but I was really happy.
But then… I found out that my wife has been carrying an illness.
Masumi:
--
Kasumi:
Worse is, what happened afterwards.
She passed away, leaving behind her beloved daughters and me on our own.
Masumi:
…
Kasumi:
It was so sudden and I was so desperate, to the point that I’m thinking of dying myself, but her words ended up stopping me.
I am alone right now but, I have to raise our daughters, nurture them with two people’s worth of love.
That is, her final wish after all…
It can be difficult to balance work and childcare alone, but if it’s for the sake of her and our daughters, I will always have the power to do my best.
When I thought about the love I’ve felt towards her in this lifetime, I felt the same as the time when I started working as a publisher and I feel that I’ll be able to do my best on whatever comes to me.
Masumi:
… I get it.
… Do you feel lonely for not being able to see your wife?
Kasumi:
Hmm…
I cried my life’s worth that time, even now, there are times that I can’t help but to feel lonely.
To the one person that I love from the bottom of my heart, no matter how much I say “I love you”, it’s sad to think that I’ll never receive an answer anymore…
I don’t usually have such time though, since the days I spend with my daughters are fun.
Despite that, there’s only one person I love with all my heart and I will continue to love her for the rest of my life.
When you find that person in your life, I’m sure your heart will be filled.
I can’t see her anymore, but my love for her will never disappear.
Masumi:
So you’re also a master of love…
Kasumi:
Eh! It’s weird for you to call me a master of love!
I’m just a love otaku… I mean, I love all those romance dramas, shoujo mangas, and the likes…
Chikage:
You ‘also’?
Masumi:
Itaru’s also a master of love.
Chikage:
Pfft…
Kasumi:
…Ah! It’s already this late.
Sorry, I have a meeting after this.
The two of you can take your time here.
Chikage:
Sorry to trouble you.
Kasumi:
Don’t mind it.
You don’t need to worry about the cost too.
Chikage:
Sorry… Thanks for the treat.
Masumi:
…Thank you.
Kasumi:
You’re welcome!
See you!
Chikage:
…
Masumi:
…
Chikage:
So Kasumi-san’s wife has passed away.
Masumi:
I didn’t know…
Should I have not asked?
Chikage:
How is it… I think he enjoyed the conversation though.
Masumi:
Sorry to make you hang around so long.
Let’s go back.
Chikage:
We still have time, why don’t we talk a bit more.
Masumi:
?
Chikage:
I’ve been telling lies here and there so I’m not sure if you can believe me but…
I’ve also, lost a very important person to me before.

A3! Event: The Last Runway Chapter 10 Translation
Heads up on the characters’ name! (Kikukawa: Yuki, Minami: Taichi, Hayama: Masumi, Koga: Tenma)
Student A: “I guess Kikukawa will take over the final part in the fashion show this year.”
Student B: “That makes sense. It’s like a hopeless fight.”
Student A: “I want to pair up with Kikukawa~.”
Student B: “That’s impossible. There are a lot of students from the model department who say the same thing. Besides, isn’t it obvious that Koga will pair up with him?”
Student A: “Ah~. Speaking of Koga, it looks like he’ll take part in a collection runway show too. We won’t have any chance at all if he pairs up with a pro.”
“But well, if I can’t be his model, I don’t mind becoming his girlfriend. I can marry into the family who owns that high-end brand KIKUKAWA.”
Student B: “I’ve told you it’s impossible.”
Student A: “If I can’t pair up with Kikukawa, Hayama will do.”
Student B: “Hayama, huh. The competition is fierce if you want to make a pair with him. I heard he’s going to finally start up his brand, after all.”
Student A: “Sighs. Now that I look at the reality, I think it’s better to find a partner quickly.”
Student B: “Right. You’re going to fail otherwise.”
Student A: “I don’t want that!”
Student B: “Well, the model department has more students than the design department, after all. I don’t think we can fail if the gap isn’t too big.”
Student A: “IF the gap isn’t too big, right.”
Minami: “...”
Koga: “Kikukawa, have you found your model?”
Kikukawa: “I haven’t.”
Koga: “Why don’t you pair up with me, then? I can meet your high demands, Kikukawa.”
Kikukawa: “...I’ll think about it.”
Hayama: “Hmm, so you haven’t even decided on your pair. You sure are calm.”
Kikukawa: “It’s not like I have time to be calm.”
Hayama: “Well, you can always use KIKUKAWA’s models when push comes to shove.”
Kikukawa: “We’re not allowed to do that for the final project.”
Hayama: “But if it’s someone from KIKUKAWA, they will allow it, right?”
Kikukawa: “.....”
Hayama: “Let me tell you something: the final part this year will be mine.”
Kikukawa: “Yeah, okay.”
Izumi: (Similar to the first design, Yuki-kun and Masumi-kun’s costumes are casual uniforms, but…)
(Each costumes have distinctive features that suit their own characters.)
(The three of them have high pride even in the play, so it’s great that they can show how the sparks are flying right from the start.)
Kikukawa’s Mother: “Final project is just some student’s games, right. Even if they manage to catch the industry people’s attention, it’s just because their work is new and original.”
Kikukawa: “......”
Kikukawa’s Mother: “You’re already a professional. You should prioritize your job. Don’t put too much focus on your homework.”
Kikukawa: “--.”
Kikukawa’s Mother: “What? Do you have something to say?”
Kikukawa: “...No.”
Teacher: “Is everyone here?”
“For the time being, I will give supplementary lesson to those who fall behind in their final project…”
“This will be like a meeting between those who haven’t found their pair for the show. Those who have found their partners can go home.”
Student A: “Hey, hey. Do you want to pair up with me?”
Student B: “Sure. I’ll be in your care~.”
Student C: “Let’s discuss our concept on our way home.”
Student D: “Okaay.”
Minami: “.....”
Kikukawa: “I’m late.”
Student A: “...Eh, Kikukawa?”
Student B: “I wonder if he hasn’t found his model.”
Student C: “No way. Why hasn’t Kikukawa found his?”
Teacher: “Come in and sit. I’ve already explained this, but you can’t make progress in your final project if you haven’t found your partner. You better hurry and choose yours.”
Teacher: “Have you all chose your partners? Then, all that left is--.”
Minami: “......”
Kikukawa: “Hey, Minami. You don’t have a partner yet?”
Minami: “Eh…? Y-Yeah.”
Kikukawa: “Then, do you want to pair up with me?”
Minami: “Eh!?”
Student A: “You must be lying. He chose Minami.”
Student B: “There’s no way Minami can wear Kikukawa’s clothes.”
Minami: “--.”
Kikukawa: “Do you hear me?”
Minami: “But I--.”
Kikukawa: “Are you going to pair up with me or not? State your answer clearly.”
Minami: “--I-If you’re fine with me.”
Kikukawa: “I get it that you’re short, but it turns out your walking is also bad, huh.”
Minami: “So-sorry…”
Kikukawa: “Do something about it until the D-day.”
Minami: “Say, why did you choose me, Kikukawa? There are other models that you can choose, and yet…”
Kikukawa: “--I don’t really have any particular reason. I’m fine with anyone, so I just chose among the remaining people. Anyone will look decent in my outfits, after all.”
Minami: “--I, I see. You have a point.”
Kikukawa: “......”
Minami: “But for someone like me, I might still be hopeless even if I wear Kikukawa’s clothes…”
Kikukawa: “What are you saying? Are you making fun of my design?”
Minami: “I’m, I’m not! It’s just, I don’t have any talent as a model, I don’t have any sense and I’m short…”
Kikukawa: “We can’t do anything about your short height. But the others are your problems, you know.”
Minami: “But--.”
Kikukawa: “--Aaargh, so annoying! Fine. I’m going to completely revamp you!”
Minami: “--.”
Kikukawa: “You’re not staying in the lines. Do it again.”
Minami: “--Y-Yes!”
Kikukawa: “Your posture is bad.”
Minami: “Yes.”
Kikukawa: “Look at the front.”
Minami: “Ah, yes!”
Kikukawa: “That one is really not good.”
Minami: “Ugh…”
Kikukawa: “You should make the side part more neat and tidy and add more volume to the top. Yeah, that looks good.”
“You’re short, so you’ve got to be careful with your silhouette. It’s basic common sense to understand your figure and choose things that suits your size.”
“Besides, you’ve chosen the brand that you admire--or something like that, right. You’re being rude to the clothes for not wearing the outfits that suit your size.”
Minami: “Uh… you’re right. Poor clothes being worn by someone like me.”
Kikukawa: “Hey, put on this one.”
Minami: “Huh?”
Kikukawa: “This one perfectly fits in your body. It really suits your aura, too.”
Minami: “You’re right… I can’t believe there are clothes that look good on me.”
Kikukawa: “What are you saying? Of course there are.”
Minami: “--Thanks, Kikukawa. I’ll do my best so that I can wear your clothes.”
Kikukawa: “--.”
Minami: “Kikukawa? What’s wrong?”
Kikukawa: “Nothing.”
Izumi: (Yuki-kun and Taichi-kun are perfectly in sync. Since the script is written after deciding on the roles, they play their roles naturally and perfectly.)
(Next is Minami’s performance in the latter half…)
Teacher: “You will showcase your development process at this show. Regardless of your turn and evaluation, the result will merely be temporary.”
“You are also allowed to show the current state of your work. Think of this as something that will help you control the flow of your performance.”
Minami: “We are the third from the last… I’m nervous.”
Kikukawa: “......”
Minami: “Kikukawa?”
Kikukawa: “--.”
Minami: “Are you all right?”
Kikukawa: “Is this really the time for you to worry about other people?”
Minami: “N-No. Well, you’re right.”
Kikukawa: “I don’t plan to show such a halfway-done work at this time.”
Minami: “Kikukawa’s design is flawless! If it’s not, then I’m to blame for that…”
Kikukawa: “......”
Student A: “Hm? Is that Kikukawa’s design?”
Student B: “Hmm, looks like it.”
Student A: “Hmm.”
Student E: “Maybe it’s because the model is Minami, but don’t you think it doesn’t look that great?”
Student F: “I mean, if I were to be honest, Kikukawa’s design isn’t that great in the first place.”
Student E: “Ah, I also thought that a little. It feels like he only has the popularity of his parents’ brand, you see?”
“Even his own brand is basically KIKUKAWA’s secondary lines, right.”
Teacher A: “Hayama is currently in the lead.”
Teacher B: “I wonder what happened to Kikukawa. Unlike usual, his work is lackluster.”
Teacher A: “He might get his hands full on his business.”
Kikukawa: “......”
Koga: “That was such a poor performance. Wasn’t it because you chose the wrong model?”
Hayama: “The problem is beyond that. I don’t get a sense of style from your design. It looks shallow.”
Kikukawa: “--.”
Minami: “It’s not Kikukawa’s fault. It’s because I’m the model--.”
Koga: “That’s obvious. An ignorant amateur like you will only ruin any clothes you wear.”
Minami: “--.”
Hayama: “I’ve told you before. It doesn’t have anything to do with the model. The level of your design is low. I’m disappointed. You’re just riding on your parents’ coattails.”
Minami: “Sorry, Kikukawa. I’m going to work harder.”
Kikukawa: “Why are you saying that when you already work that hard--.”
Minami: “Huh?”
Kikukawa: “......”
Minami: “Are you all right, Kikukawa…?”
Kikukawa: “You asked me why did I choose you before, right.”
Minami: “Yeah.”
Kikukawa: “I thought that if I paired up with a talentless model, they would purely evaluate my design.”
“I want them to purely look at my design, and not because I am the son of KIKUKAWA who has it all--.”
Minami: “...I see, so that’s the reason. If that’s so, why do you give me special training?”
Kikukawa: “I got irritated seeing you being all hesitant.”
Minami: “I, I see.”
Kikukawa: “But you’ve worked hard and began to change. It makes me worried whether I’m good enough.”
“But my eyes are open now. The model isn’t the problem here. I need to think of a way so that I won’t lose sight of my design. That’s the most important thing.”
“I’m stupid for minding what people say about me, that whole ‘he’s riding on his parents’ coattails.’”
Minami: “...I was able to change because of you, Kikukawa.”
“I managed to get into the model department that I had been longing, but I’m short. I don’t even have sense and aura. I was hit by reality.”
“But then you talked to me, who has given up my dream and grew timid, Kikukawa.”
“No matter what your reason was, I would not be able to change for eternity if that didn’t happen.”
“I might be no match for Koga as a model, but I want to wear your outfit, Kikukawa.”
“I want to show the charm of Kikukawa’s design more than anyone else.”
“I’ll do anything in order to achieve that goal. That is why I want you to use me as your model.”
Kikukawa: “I have no intention to change model even if you don’t say that. I could get over my doubts because of you, Minami.”
“I’ll create an outfit that will make you shine the brightest. The ones who are going to land that last spot at the show are us.”
Minami: “Last spot.. Me…”
Kikukawa: “It’s an obvious result. You’re going to wear Lily. K’s clothes, after all.”
Minami: “Y-Yeah. You’re right.”
Kikukawa: “I’ll be in your care, as an equal this time around.”
Minami: “Me too!”
Kikukawa: “You already memorize the programme, right?”
Minami: “Yes.”
Koga: “Heh, so you’re still participating even after being told such things.”
Minami: “Kikukawa’s model is me, after all.”
Koga: “--.”
Hayama: “I hope you don’t embarrass yourself again during the show.”
Kikukawa: “I think you should worry about yourself rather than other people.”
Hayama: “Looks like you’re back to your usual self.”
Student A: “I expect no less from Hayama’s design~.”
Student B: “That looks good. I want it.”
Student A: “Others’ designs look like something that are made by students, but Hayama’s is certainly different. He receives a lot of applause.”
Student B: “Isn’t he pretty much confirmed to take the last spot, then? Who’s next?”
Student A: “The highly touted Kikukawa.”
Kikukawa: “--It’s our turn.”
Minami: “I’m going.”
Kikukawa: “Be confident. That’s the clothes I made for you, Minami.”
Minami: “Yeah. I’m not anxious anymore, since I’m a part of your design, Kikukawa.”
Kikukawa: “Okay--Go.”
Minami: “--.”
Student A: “Whoah…”
Student B: “As expected of Kikukawa.”
Student A: “But don’t you think the model is small? He’s as tall as female models.”
Student B: “I think he’s the perfect choice, though, since the design is unisex.”
Student C: “It looks cute~. I want to wear that!”
Student D: “Isn’t that men’s clothing?”
Student C: “But women can wear that too.”
Student D: “It’s a little bit different than what KIKUKAWA usually makes, but it looks good!”
Student A: “Just as I expected, the one who takes the last spot is one who receives the most applause.”
Izumi: (The result of Taichi-kun’s practice is showing. His walking looks magnificent.)
(Minami looks so confident that it couldn’t be compared to how he looks in the beginning of the play--.)
(There’s no need to worry.)
(The costume that Yuki-kun and Taichi-kun created for this scene made Taichi-kun shine even more.)
Minami: “How, How was it?”
Kikukawa: “Didn’t you say you weren’t anxious before?”
Minami: “Well, yeah, but…”
Kikukawa: “It was perfect.”
Minami: “R-Really!?”
Kikukawa: “It’s the finale. Let’s go on stage together.”
Minami: “Yes!”
Izumi: (Kikukawa and Minami’s strong bond is showing.)
(Yuki-kun and Taichi-kun have always been making costumes together, after all, so that’s to be expected.)
Hayama: “...”
Kikukawa: “I’ve told you not to worry about other people.”
Hayama: “Hmm. As expected of Lily. K.”
Kikuyama: “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
Koga: “I don’t think I’m losing here. I’m still better than you as a model.”
Minami: “I know that.”
Koga: “Hmph.”
Minami: “--But I don’t think I’m losing as Kikukawa’s model.”
Koga: “You--.”
Hayama: “Cut it out, stop snapping at them at every chance you have, Koga. I know you’re a big fan of KIKUKAWA.”
Koga: “Wha--.”
Kikukawa: “Ooh. I’ll ask my mom to give you a sample next time.”
Koga: “Eh, seriously!? No, I mean, it’s not like I--.”
Minami: “Haha.”
Koga: “Let me tell you this. I might give away the position for Kikukawa’s model to you, but not KIKUKAWA’s model.”
Minami: “Huh--.”
Kikukawa: “--.”
Koga: “What is it, what’s with that apathetic expression?”
Kikukawa: “Pfft. No, it’s just… You’re right. My design and KIKUKAWA’s are different.”
Minami: “Ahaha. I’m unfit to be KIKUKAWA’s model, you know. I’ll forever be Kikukawa’s model, after all.”
Koga: “What’s so funny about it?”
Kikukawa: “I just didn’t think you would say something so obvious like that.”
Koga: “Haaah!?”
Minami: “Good for you, Kikukawa.”
Kikukawa: “...Yeah.”
Koga: “???”
“What are they saying? Do you get it, Hayama?”
Hayama: “Beats me. It must be Kikukawa’s complex or something.”
Kikukawa: “You’re a real nasty dude.”
Hayama: “Hmph. Next time we will battle it out on stage for professional. You better appear as Lily. K.”
Kikukawa: “You don’t need to tell me that.”
Sakuya: Good job there, guys!
Itaru: GJ, GJ.
Banri: Good work.
Muku: You did great!
Kazunari: GJ!
Sakuya: I’ve never seen a fashion show before, but that was cool!
Muku: Both Taichi-kun and Tenma-kun’s costumes are stunning too.
Kazunari: You guys sure live up to our expectations as the models actor!
Banri: Was the designer course you took effective?
Yuki: Well, it was inspiring in many ways.
Itaru: You suit the designer role, Masumi--you seem very sensitive and prideful.
Masumi: Shut up.
Sakuya: You really gave off the vibe of such designer!
Muku: I expect no less from Tenma-kun, you were great!
Kazunari: You did feel like “The” model.
Muku: Yes, yes!
Tenma: That’s obvious.
Yuki: You didn’t even have to act to bring out Koga’s ore-sama personality.
Tenma: What did you say!?
Banri: Even Taichi really looked like a model at the last part.
Sakuya: Yes. You didn’t look like the usual Taichi-kun!
Taichi: Ehehe!
Yuki: Ah, hold on.
Taichi: Yu-Yuki-chan?
Yuki: I think if we spread the hem a little bit more, your silhouette will look nicer when you walk. I should work on it today.
I’ll be counting on you as my assistant, stupid dog.
Taichi: W-Woof!
Banri: You’re well disciplined as ever.
Izumi: They’re a pair during the play, though…

A3! Translation: Chigake Utsuki’s SR [Playback] - Again and Again Part 1
Members of Spring Troupe gather to plan their surprise birthday party for Chikage.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b0e5364fa751fc6da50b6937f07ab6fb/tumblr_inline_ppyn2oX0d81trom74_540.jpg)
Citron: Well then, let’s start our strategy meeting for “The Big Plan of Chikage’s Shocking and Surprising Birthday Party”!
Masumi: The title is too long.
Tsuzuru: Anyway, don’t you think it’d be better to hold the meeting in a place that is not too stand out… I feel like that person will return out of the blue.
Itaru: It’s okay. He has a meeting today so he won’t come back in a few hours.
Sakuya: That’s a relief, then!
Citron: Let’s come up with a surprise that Chikage won’t notice! He has good intuition, after all.
Izumi: We should prepare a cake, obviously, but I want to change the way we celebrate it.
Tsuzuru: In the first place, what kind of things do you think Chikage-san will like? Even if we perform a touching play, I don’t think he will be happy.
Itaru: Well, he is no romance-senpai, after all.
Masumi: I can’t think of anything beside extremely spicy food.
Sakuya: I’ll go along with it as long as Chikage-san is happy!
Citron: Oh! You’re risking your leaf, Sakuya!
Tsuzuru: It’s life, not leaf.
Hisoka: *yawn*~.
Itaru: Oooh, our last year’s cooperator has made his appearance.
Izumi: Ah, Hisoka-san! Perfect timing! There’s something we want to consult with you…
Hisoka: …?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b82e32884be4deb8dbd70121da0b1bfd/tumblr_inline_ppyn48EJNZ1trom74_540.jpg)
Chikage: Come in.
What is it, Masumi?
Masumi: Here.
Chikage: ...Playing cards and envelopes? Is this perhaps your magic practice?
Masumi: Yeah.
Pick one card and put it in this envelope.
Chikage: Is this all right?
Masumi: Yeah. Shake the envelope lightly and… okay, take out what’s inside.
Chikage: This is…. “Invitation”?
--I see. So that’s what it is.
Masumi: Come on, everyone is waiting.
Chikage: Yeah, yeah.
...Masumi, you’ve gotten good at magic.
Masumi: I’ll get better than Chikage soon.
Chikage: I’m looking forward to it.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1d17f8c0b00c28470ac8b9074067eb0a/tumblr_inline_ppyn5m0LeK1trom74_540.jpg)
Izumi: Ah, they’re here, they’re here.
Masumi: Director, I brought Chikage like you told me to. Praise me.
Tsuzuru: Save that for later. Hey, Masumi, quickly come here.
Sakuya: --Chikage-san, happy birthday!
Citron: Happy birthday!
Tsuzuru: Happy birthday.
Masumi: Happy birthday.
Itaru: Chikage-san, HBD.
Chikage: Thanks. This is such a feast.
There are Director’s curry, sweet and chilli shrimp and… mapo tofu.
Izumi: ….Say, Chikage-san, don’t you think the important thing is missing?
Chikage: Important thing? Additional spices?
Izumi: That’s not it!
Itaru: Please look at these closely, senpai.
Tsuzuru: He really didn’t realize it….
Sakuya: It’s the cake--the birthday cake!
Chikage: Aah, now that you mention it, it really is missing. I don’t really nee--.
Izumi: That is why, let’s make one together!
Chikage: --.
...That must be that guy’s suggestion. Good grief.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/79f9ca15902efe00a6cff72f7df8b345/tumblr_inline_ppyn9ceVKQ1trom74_540.jpg)
Citron: Let’s cook! We have bought a special spice!
Itaru: Oh, that is one suspicious bottle… It looks like special item.
Citron: I’ve ordered it from Zahra. This is an extremely spicy spice in my country. Your mouth will literally burn the second you eat it, so be careful of the almond you fuse!
Itaru: You mean “the amount you use,” right.
Chikage: I see. Got it.
Tsuzuru: --Hey, did you hear what he said!? You put in too much!
Itaru: My eyes hurt seeing that for some reason.
Masumi: Looking at the color of the food, it doesn’t look like something that a human will eat.
Chikage: Is that so? I think this much is normal, though.
Izumi: (He looked like he was reluctant to go along with this at first, but…)
Sakuya: --It seems like Chikage-san is having fun.
Itaru: I know, right. It’s either that person is easy to understand, or we have acquired an anti-senpai skill.
Izumi: I’m happy with whatever that is.

A3! Event: The Floral Prince Chapter 3 Translation
Citron and Guy have come to help the members of Summer Troupe be a proper prince.
Izumi: I’ve invited special instructors for us today!
Tenma: Special instructors?
Citron: I’ll teach you how to be a no bra prince!
Tenma: It should be “noble,” you know!
Yuki: You’re not noble at all.
Izumi: Then, Guy-san, please teach us things about a prince from a retainer’s point of view.
Guy: I hope it’ll be useful.
Citron: All right then, the first lesson will be about dance!
As a prince, you have to be able to dance about one, two, three or nine step counts. I shall escort the curry lady.
Director, may I have this dance?
Izumi: Huh!? Me!? I’m not good at dancing….
Citron: You can just move your body as I say.
Right, left, right…. That’s right--you’re good at this! Director, your basic skill is perfect!
Izumi: Whoah, amazing. I’m dancing! My body still remembers Homare-san’s special training.
Yuki: Huh, so the instructor is doing it.
Kazunari: What a real prince!
Kumon: Amazing! I expect no less from Citron-san!
Muku: You’re cool, Citron-sama! I wonder if I can do that.
Citron: Obviously! All right then, let’s line up there, guys.
First, go to the right, left, right left… Before both of your hands move diagonally, you need to--.
Yuki: Say, don’t you think this is weird?
Misumi: It’s different from the previous one~.
Muku: It’s not cool at all… This must be because I’m a overboiled, flabby pasta...
Tenma: Hey, isn’t this the loach scooping dance*!?
Citron: Ahaha, my mistake.
Izumi: (Will, will this be all right….)
Guy: As a retainer, we have to move while anticipating every single command from our master.
Citron: I talked too much; I’m getting thirsty now.
Guy: Here’s your water.
Citron: It’s been a while since I last danced. My feet are sore.
Guy: Here’s a cold pack.
Citron: I’m brongry.
Muku: I’m brongry?
Yuki: What are you talking about?
Guy: Here’s your sandwich.
Izumi: Did you possibly mean, “I’m hungry”?
Tenma: There’s no way we would understand that one!
Kumon: I didn’t understand at all!
Yuki: Normal people wouldn’t understand that.
Guy: So he did actually say he was hungry….
Tenma: You didn’t know that!?
Guy: I just guessed it with my retainer’s instinct.
Kazunari: You’re way too competent, Guyguy!
Misumi: A retainer has it tough, huh~.
Manager: Kyaaa!!!
Muku: !?
Yuki: Isn’t that manager’s voice?
Guy: It’s from the courtyard.
Izumi: Let’s go take a look!
Manager: E, eek…
Izumi: What’s wrong, manager!?
Manager: Ha, ha, ha…..
Tenma: Hahaha?
Misumi: He’s laughing~.
Manager: Y-you got it wrong! Please take a look at that!
White Horse: *neighs*
Izumi: A horse!?
Kumon: It’s a white horse! How cool!
Kazunari: It’s so beautiful! I’ll take pics and posts it on Insta!
Izumi: Anyway, why is there a horse here in this place!?
Citron: Oh, I forgot about this! I borrowed it for the horse riding lesson!
I actually wanted to bring my favorite horse in Zahra, Pochi. But I’d feel bad because of how long it’d take to bring it here, so I gave up.
Tenma: Pochi, you say--that’s usually a name for dogs, you know.
Yuki: But to think you even went all the way to prepare a horse, you sure are serious about this.
Citron: A prince must have a horse, you know! This is Muku’s proud moment, after all, so I want to contribute too.
Muku: Thank you, Citron-sama.
Citron: Anyway, the timing is perfect. Let’s start our horse riding lesson!
First, try to mount it, Muku.
Muku: M-me?
Guy: I will support you, so you can relax and mount it.
Muku: Y-yes!
…heaves, ho.
Citron: You can mount it by yourself, Muku?
Muku: I’ve ridden a horse before….
Citron: Excellent! There’s nothing to teach you, then.
Next is Tenma!
Tenma: I don’t need to do it, you know.
Izumi: But it may be useful for our future performances.
Tenma: ….It can’t be helped, then. I’ll give it a try.
Guy: You need to grab here first--.
White Horse: *whines*.
Tenma: !?
Misumi: The horse didn’t want Tenma to get on it~.
Tenma: Hah!?
Yuki: You can talk to horse too, huh, Triangle Alien.
Tenma: Why did it not want me to mount him!?
Misumi: Hmm….
White Horse: *neighs*.
Misumi: No reason, it said!
Tenma: What’s with that answer!?
Tenma: *sigh*.... I’m tired.
Kazunari: That was hard.
Misumi: Being a prince is difficult~.
Muku: But I’m glad we got to learn it well.
Tsuzuru: ….
Izumi: Huh? Tsuzuru-kun? What’s wrong?
Tsuzuru: ….
Yuki: He’s moving without saying anything.
Kumon: It’s scary.
Kazunari: What’s wrong, Tsuzurun? Are you okay?
Masumi: “The script is done.”
Muku: He spoke!
Izumi: But this voice is Masumi-kun’s?
Kumon: Now that I look at it closely, Masumi-san is controlling Tsuzuru-san from behind!
Yuki: Tsuzuru’s eyes are closed, so he must be sleeping.
Misumi: He’s moving while sleeping~.
Tenma: More like, he’s being moved.
Izumi: I-In any case, you’re bringing the script with you, right? Thank you.
Masumi: “Yes.”
Izumi: Masumi-kun, let Tsuzuru-kun sleep already...!
Masumi: Got it.
Tenma: I’ve thought that Tsuzuru-san has gotten better treatment, but it’s actually reached to the point of controlling him.
Yuki: He couldn’t even manage to do that before he becomes like that.
Muku: Tsuzuru-san always pushes himself too hard…
Tenma: Let’s read the script for now.
Izumi: Y-you’re right.
(The title for the play is, “The Floral Prince”....)
Muku: Whoah…!
Izumi: What’s wrong?
Muku: So, so-sorry! I’m kind of surprised when I see the first name of the cast….
Izumi: (The first name of the cast…. I see. “Prince Florence - Muku Sakisaka,” is written here.)
Yuki: Why are you surprised?
Tenma: Pull yourself together, lead actor.
Muku: Y-yes!
Izumi: (To think that Muku-kun’s first time leading a play would be welcomed like this, I’m really glad.)
(I need to work hard so that our play can be successful as well!)
t/n: *This is a video of loach scooping dance to get better idea of what the dance looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNZCjUJ1u3g < Chapter 2 | Masterlist | Chapter 4 >

this was so interesting to read! I’m putting my thoughts in a reblog because I tried to do a reply and then hit the character limit really fucking quick so. under the cut for me as well haha
since I can’t make any real statements on popularity within a3 I think this is more just me rambling about a3 characters / stuff I like…? haha
I do think that definitely a large part of my opinions on a3 r influenced by the fact that I’ve banned myself from the tag and like, have even blacklisted the #ichablogging a3 tag so I don’t stumble into any act 2 spoilers (which. if u see me pop up in ur activity all of a sudden it’s bc I’ve remember “oh ichas going thru act 1 summer rn” and then i carefully reveal all the posts I missed one by one lol)
anyways!! I was quite surprised abt summer being the most popular group, but I can also like. see it now that I think about it? summer definitely was what hooked me into a3 and I think like, that troupe and winter have very fun dynamics in how they deal with each other, though it goes like, opposite ends for the both of them. winter troupe for me is like… 100% my favorite group in terms of narrative I think? like I’m so engaged by any of their plays / events and I really do think about them a lot. I think they do have a distinct advantage in being the last of the bunch because they don’t really need to deal with any establishing setup (unlike spring, which had to establish the setting as well as the idea of event plays in the first place)… no one in winter struggles Too Much with like Learning To Act which really opens time up for a lot more stuff in their part of act 1 I feel? but I also feel like the inter-winter troupe dynamics are like, so fascinating. for example I was really worried I actually wouldn’t care too much about nocturnality because I actually don’t pay that much singular attention towards azuma or tasuku? but I was so invested in the dynamics of everything that like, that wasn’t necessarily a problem
and I feel like!! for me I’m not sure if I can say what character I Like the most because to me so much of it is about like, enjoying how characters interact with each other… if I had to pick a character on their own it might be yuki or homare since they both have such Personalities but even then I feel like so much of a3 characters is like how they respond to others and different situations etc. so like is that even relevant to me because when am I ever thinking of a3 characters without thinking about how they relate to each other? like I don’t think I’d pick kazunari as a favorite but then for some reason his interactions in the camping event w/ tsuzuru and sardine search are like soooo dear to me and I think about them all the time. and then I’ve created an intense fiction in my head abt the relationship dynamics between tenma yuki and juza which like. barely exists within the main story.
and man, clockwork heart is so ;; I liked tsuzuru from the start because like you said, it’s probably a deal of liking that he kind of does what I do as well, so he’s rather relatable but… that event is perhaps my favorite event out of everything? the story makes me feel sooo many things and the play itself is just. one I think about often.
I don’t really have a point to all of this I think! I just think that like, one of the strengths of this game is really how it highlights characters through like their dynamics with others I think… masumi for example who is the character im perhaps not like, wild about, is someone who I actually really enjoy when he’s interacting with his actual troupe members (like the event with tsumugi! so sweet)
(oh man and again what you say about tasuku! I would’ve had no idea ppl would be bitter about his clash with tsumugi… that was like my favorite thing because I really feel like. in the end they’re both motivated by the fact that they care for each other yknow? so that was what actually ended up really endearing me to him and making me feel like I was. I dunno. getting to know him better? which I think applies to banri as well… maybe im just a fan of conflict or something who knows)
gosh. once I get through act 2 I’m going to ramble SO HARD. I love these characters so much. also I need to see how my theories turn out. for an interesting bonus piece of information: the reason I got into a3 was through following you, obviously, but the very specific reason was that I saw a VERY COOL fanart reblogged by you of stray devil blues(?). I think it’s funny that for like the almost two years from then, I still haven’t gotten to that “reason” (or. act 2…. I’m working on it)
was having banri thoughts lately just bc like. why not right. and then i suddenly remember u mentioning that some ppl... did not like banri at the start? which is wild to me bc in my mind ive always been ride or die for him. like i love juza so much but i feel like. that doesnt rly oppose liking banris character as well? banri is such fun character drama at the beginning of autumn and then his and itarus dynamic is fun from the start... gosh and the acting in the final bits of the autumn troupe between him and juza! suchhh fun tension. like. idk. it just started making me think like wow. digging thru a3 on my own with mostly the influence of like, just you has probably skewed my opinion of what the common perception of a3 is like. for example in my head winter is the most popular troupe which... it maybe isnt? i feel like recently i saw u mention summer might be the most popular(? this couldve been a dream) and i didnt realize itaru was super popular until like. last month. i mean if i had to pick a character i thought was the most popular i'd pick. misumi.
LKFJDLKFJD god what an ask
yeah i doubt i'm exactly the "common a3 experience" but to be perfectly honest i haven’t really kept tabs on the fandom per se since hh mid-2020 when i started to dig into some tags and saw so much negativity i was just :/ and stopped doing so (the curse to liking rascals </3).
Nowadays my knowledge of the a3 fandom is mostly the people interreacting with me, which already generally means that they vibe with what i post, so it gives me a skewed vision of the fandom like, are we all like that? or are the loud voices that made me go avoid the tag still here yaknow?
More stuff under cut
For Banri, i'll admit i wasn't too hot about him when i started the game, which now i regret so bad because he's my precious little meow meow hands down. He has such a good arc!!!! I know in my case i just had a hard time because i cared for Juza right away and i was still so high on Summer's development i kept comparing Banri to Tenma and going "here's why Tenma is amazing and Banri is cringefail". But it lasted me until a bit before Banri sees the portraits, when he starts to be conflicted, after that i was all, oh wait i like that guy. And then the more content i saw of him the more i loved him and he became my fav Autumn Chara. (so if you want to ramble about him more you’re free to do so because i’m team i adore this guy. please do. you’re so right in what you say of him.)
But so i did expect people to have my experience - hard time in the beginning, then mellowing on him before the end of the Autumn Chapter. And it wasn't the case 😭😭😭😭 At least at the time, the Banri's takes were rancid. Like it was genuinely annoying at a point, you couldn't go anywhere without some Banri bashing fuckery, even after his initial arc, people just. really hated him. My most hated takes were that i saw so many people say Banri would bully Yuki or stuff implying they would have an antagonistic relationship and it's probably why i cling to Into the Night so much, like HELL you're going to twist one of my fav crosstroupe dynamic!!! I legit saw so many things reducing Banri to a menace and a bully, and if not that, talking about how much everyone in the dorm hated him, and it was really driving me insane then.
I remember once making a post about how i was so close to blacklist "Banri" because people didn't filter this bashing with tags so i was just ready to just, not see Banri anymore, but it was breaking my heart. But somehow after this post i got a few people coming back at me about how it annoyed them too and i saw some of those people make their own posts in a more. direct way. and after that i never saw Banri bashing again. My power (< absolutely not, coincidence at best i'm sure).
A lot of Banri bashing i saw back then were from "newcomers" in the sense that it was after the anime aired, and a lot of people were just coming in without knowing about the events. imo i think the events do help giving a better feel to Banri in general so the fact people were fresh from the anime might have skewed things. I remember a friend who was in that case, newcomer and all, only read the main story, didn't like Banri after reading the main story. Then, Main story act 2 came out and while they didn't read the events, they read the main story and they started liking Banri there (because he did develop so much since then)
And as a whole i'd say, by act 2 it must have died out a bit.
There's another chara who gets bashed a lot but. Act 2 stuff 😔. Unfortunately a chara i like a lot so this was my breaking point of "i'm not checking the tags anymore none of you know how to behave". I think it mellowed since then? and i know the chara is popular in the JPN fandom meanwhile.
else i've seen like, Tasuku having very little content from fans and a few people being mean to him when they talked about him, but it was a long time ago and i sure hope it died out. I don't think i'd say he's bashed, more that most folks don't have strong feelings about him and stopped just with a bitter taste over his anger toward Tsumugi in the first winter chap.
Now. About popularity, Winter is DEF NOT the most popular troupe. Pretty sure it plays between Autumn and Summer in term of popularity. That said it's not like any of the troupes are unpopular so any ramblings about each Troupe would be meet with pleased reactions from the fandom, so it is harder to gauge that but yeah.
Troupewise something i noticed is that i think Summer is the most popular in term of GROUP, while Autumn is the most popular in term of Individuals. So a lot of people liked Summer specifically for their dynamic and how each of those charas played out each other more than individually liking each of them, while for Autumn it was, they liked all of them strongly! not specifically for their dynamic, though of course it plays a part, but as individuals. I mention it because i think it was the key difference in rank up in why i think Summer plays were okay to rank up to while Autumn were a nightmare. (that said that can also be "blamed" on "fans gravitate around characters that have elements they have as well" or something which means Autumn fans were more likely to be competitive and stubborn in a way Summer were more mellow.)
Itaru is definitely the most popular character of the whole game, period. It's not even a competition at this point it's so funny. when the EN server was live, anytime Itaru had a rank up card was a bloodbath (< survivor of Kniroun ranking up at 0.2%. Didn't sleep normally for the whole duration of the event it was so much.).
By the end of the server things were dying out a bit but still in general you could get a vague idea of popularity by how wild the rankings could be. For instance the fact Tasuku's ranking was a breeze without even trying was indicative of how he's not that popular.
In general i've noticed, at the time at least, that Winter ranks up were rather easy. I've ranked up for a few of Summer and i didn't see much of a problem otherwise*. Spring was really chill unless Itaru was in rank up. Autumn was THE Bloodbath. There were Autumn Stans organziation all over, the appp SYSTEMATICALLY broke EVERYTIME Autumn was around, it was always much more challenging, so yeah man.
Misumi* is probably the one i'd consider the second most popular character of the game, pretty much.
(*The funny thing is that Misumi got his lead play very early in the server's history, and i know i ranked up for him then and i didn't think it was too hard. In retrospect i'm sure it has more to do with the fact the game didn't have as many people playing it, than it had to do with popularity, so my word on Summer not being a problem is based on weird stats)
A while ago, for the Taiwanese server, there was a special set of cards in term of popularity on this server. Itaru got a SSR, Masumi got a SR, and Misumi got a R.

Masumi is in a weird position because i'd say he's fairly unpopular in the EN server, while he's popular in the JPN and Taiwanese server. Honestly i'm assuming he's especially popular with the teen audience.
AND THE MOST TELLING PART:
The first Cross-troupe's play was involving the most popular character of each troupe, by a poll being made by the JPN server. The leads were Itaru and Banri, then Misumi as a secondary character and Tsumugi as a more support character.
Meaning at the time, this was the order of the 4 most popular characters of the game.
When the mixed troupe event came to the English server, i remember a poll circulating on tumblr and likely twitter as well, trying to see if the EN Server had different favorites. Itaru still came on top, Misumi followed closely afterward. For Autumn, it was Juza and Taichi that were on the top of the Autumn poll, not Banri, and for Winter, i think it was still Tsumugi but Homare was very close behind.
So that was the popularity at least back then, god knows opinions now.
I've seen Homare be extremely popular on tumblr for sure. I have no doubt in Juza's popularity as well.
I saw a lot of Taichi fan going "Taichi is underappreciated" but i saw so many of them i was kinda just thinking "bro i'm pretty sure Taichi is in the popular character squad by now" But i'm also on the other hand as i've once seen a post saying Hisoka was popular and it stunned me a moment going ????? because as a huge Hisoka stan i don't see it???? There's a few devoted fans, and he has a better fanbase in JPN server, but in EN server??? (I'm comparing the last rank up for Hisoka VS the last rank up for Taichi in my mind and i genuinely don't see it for instance) so i also think it's likely i have a "fav blindspot" where i just don't think people are vibing with the charas the way i'm vibing, just. exactly like what i'm talking about with the Taichi stans so.... (that said i also once was tagged in a post that was going "i don't think i've ever seen a Hisoka or Tasuku stan" and a friend just went @ icha come here. Schrodinger Hisoka who's both popular and unpopular depending on who you're asking. And Tasuku IS MY UNDERRATED MEOW MEOW)
I think i recall Tenma being popular for a time, and Yuki is well appreciated by everyone around here. Kazunari has a loud fanbase but i'm pretty sure the seiyuu thing was a huge blow to them and a lot of them got more quiet at the time.
And for what it's worth i do think there's a sizeable portion of the fandom that really like Tsuzuru, but i think it's just, something you get to see a lot when a huge part of the fandom is creatives. And to be completely fair, Clockwork Heart is the one event i had a massive burn out at and didn't pay attention to the rankings at all, so i can't tell if people went really wild about it. And the next Tsuzuru rank up event was literally the last event of the EN server and i'm sure it's not indicative of anything since a lot of folks just didn't want to bother. So unlike the others were i'm using rank up as a gauge of popularity i can't tell how Tsuzuru's might influence his.
SO YEAH that's for what i could pick up BACK THEN, as i remind, i didn't really look deeply into the fandom itself. I'm really good in my corner so it might not actually be indicative of the fandom trends and i'm maybe completely off base.
Then about how, i, personally, don't represent the fandom, unless the fandom changed since then: When i first liveblogged a3, it was when the server was new and no one was on tumblr about it, so i was a little unfiltered from people's opinions. when i came back about a year later to comment on act 2, getting all worked up, and running then into the growing fanbase on this website, is when i started to run into fan takes and everything.
And, let's be clear, i came back because i was crying very hard over Hisoka and Azuma and the full Winter Troupe, and Chikage, so i really came here with my Big Winter Boots only talking about Winter and then Spring.
I ended up getting a feel of what people were talking about a lot at that time, and kinda ended up talking more about what i considered my Underrated Gems.
For instance, i absolutely adore Itaru. I ranked up for him, i've bleed for him, i love the dude. But he's so popular i figured i legit had nothing to say about him that a hundred people wouldn't have been able to say before. So i've mostly didn't really talk about him much despite loving him a LOT because i just didn't think i had anything to say. (now in my current reread i'm doing it so disconnected from what i know of the fandom that i indulged in talking more about how much i like him LMAO)
Meanwhile, there's characters i love that i know the fandom don't talk about much so i end up talking about them more, and it's the case of Tasuku. I wouldn't be surprised Tasuku is really low on most people's popular list. I'm just Not Most People and you're going to hear me ramble about that hunk of a man every few days or so.
I've made my niche in the Winter Troupe appreciation gang and i'm pretty sure by now a lot of other Winter people follow me as a result because i couldn't shut the fuck up, so then my perception of the fanbase gets skewed because i just think of Them ahah.
And there is the fact i adore the rookies, mainly Chikage and Guy, but don't talk about them so much mostly because they came out later in the main story and i've been rereading act 1 so many times instead,,, and didn't talk much about act 2 in case some people managed to save themselves from being spoiled (like you!!)
So my personal perception of a3 is probably not reflecting the whole a3 fanbase really much. God the amount of times i talked my friends's ears off about Winter, that they kinda just humored me without thinking much about it, until they found out one of the More Popular Chara (Itaru, Tenma and the whole Autumn Troupe mostly) and suddenly they're like *twirls hair* heeyy Icha tell us more about a3. It's genuinely so funny to me.
and again i don't know perhaps i'm full of shit, and it's not like i've kept tabs on the fandom recently either!
But that is at least a bit of what i remember in term of popularity and what i can say is that i shouldn't be taken as an example of the fanbase's views in general.
I'm vibing in my corner, and by experience, it usually meant i ended up talking about more niche things, but since i'm disconnected from the fandom i'm pretty sure i still have opinions that are popular opinions. So who knows! not me!
So yeah that's all i can say about the popularity of the a3 fandom. Def not an indication of it by me.
and it must be funny for you since you only really have me as your fandom gateaway because well. *waves at post* yeah.
The more you know!
