Healthcare companies are responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people annually. Probably more. Brian Thompson was a mass murderer. "Murder is bad" and "killing someone who has systemically killed thousands of people to hopefully prevent more people from dying needlessly" and "donating to charities to help people pay for insulin is good" and "we shouldn't HAVE to donate to charity for people to get life saving medications they otherwise wouldn't be able to afford and would literally die without, healthcare and especially healthcare someone will literally die without are human rights" and "late stage capitalism has made the healthcare system value profit over human lives and if nobody makes a dramatic statement it will become worse in our current political climate" and "none of this should be happening" are actually all equally true statements. More than one thing can be correct. My more pressing question is when did all of you fucking bootlickers get on the faggots and antifa website?

i hate insurance companie
#on the phone for two hours trying to get Sex Vs Gender sorted out bc at work we are allowed and even encouraged to self identify & they only#ask for gender not sex. but the insurance company pulls what *they* use for your sex as what you have listed as your *gender* at work#which is a Fucking Issue bc theyre NOT THE SAME & i might need my sex set as female for insurance to. u know. actually cover my top surgery#& hysterectomy *which im getting bc im transmasc* but they dont know if i can actually have that changed independently so even tho im#SUPPOSEDLY able to self identify i might not actually be able to in order to get insurance to cover procedures THAT ARE LITERALLY RELATED TO#ME BEING TRANS. and the best part is i dont even. have myself listed as male. i set it to do not disclose!! so the insurance company#apparently just saw that and DEFAULTED TO MALE?????#so now theyre looking into whether or not it will Actually cause any issues with coverage/if they even take sex into consideration when#determining whether the procedures would be approved/denied & if they dont then i get to just leave it as is. which is best case scenario#but otherwise i gotta figure out wtf im supposed to do bc i DONT want to set my gender as female at work#like i guess WORST CASE i set it as female for now (bc they do let u change it at least lmao) & then just change it back after but i#shouldnt have to do that!!! & like its not really my employers fault bc they are *trying* to be like accommodating of trans shit its just#that the insurance companys system like. interprets that information in a different way i guess?? & like they do COVER trans healthcare but#they dont really have any way in THEIR system to distinguish between sex & gender. & my employer only asks for gender. so its A Whole Mess

The whole crux of WHA is basically about healing magic and I still fail to understand why healing magic is banned, ngl, dalnbdalkfjn-
Like, I recall they say the whole experimental thing, but thats less about the magic and more about the lack of consent and suffering regarding those experiments-
#dee p thoughts#witch hat atelier#like consent and the concept of suffering is something regarded in REAL world healthcare advancements so you cant even say medicine in a#vacuum is done without those things. I mean we experiment on animals first then humans because we value the latter more but at the end of#they day beyond the suffering if a human were to go through the processes of consenting to such experiments theoretically it should be fine#I guess the question is about the ethical nature of magical experiments but a factor of that is that spells are apparently /reversible/#which honestly makes the argument AGAINST the magic usage even weaker actually albnfdajkln and I guess the difference between spells and#irl experiments is that you can reasonably estimate the results of the latter but spells are more spontaneous and unpredictable and#thats why its so unreliable and dangerous- so its a matter of you cant properly convey the potential suffering to a human subject without#experience BUT if theyre willing to consent to it despite the unpredictability would that be enough? I think we're basing the assumption#that no human would consent to being experiment on but im pretty certain their would be. and another aspect is that witches who've#experimented on humans likely did so with humans who had no knowledge or understanding of magic which would automatically inhibit their#ability to consent to such a thing. but then...you gotta realize thats only a product of the principles being as they are so in a#way its the principles fault for enabling such predatory behavior too AHHH#putting this in the tag actually intrigued about a conversation about this bare in mind Im only on chapter 51 adlkjfadl WHA IS ABOUT HOW#MUCH SOCIETAL SYSTEMS CAN BE PATERNALISTIC WHICH IS SOMETHING THATS BEEN IN HEALTHCARE FOR FOREVER TOO SLHDNBLSKJFBNLKSJFSL

To everybody claiming that luigi mangione really is the guy.
This is the manifesto the cops say they found
“To the Feds, I'll keep this short, because I do respect what you do for our country. To save you a lengthy investigation, I state plainly that I wasn't working with anyone. This was fairly trivial: some elementary social engineering, basic CAD, a lot of patience. The spiral notebook, if present, has some straggling notes and To Do lists that illuminate the gist of it. My tech is pretty locked down because I work in engineering so probably not much info there. I do apologize for any strife of traumas but it had to be done. Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming. A reminder: the US has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy. United is the [indecipherable] largest company in the US by market cap, behind only Apple, Google, Walmart. It has grown and grown, but as our life expectancy? No the reality is, these [indecipherable] have simply gotten too powerful, and they continue to abuse our country for immense profit because the American public has allwed them to get away with it. Obviously the problem is more complex, but I do not have space, and frankly I do not pretend to be the most qualified person to lay out the full argument. But many have illuminated the corruption and greed (e.g.: Rosenthal, Moore), decades ago and the problems simply remain. It is not an issue of awareness at this point, but clearly power games at play. Evidently I am the first to face it with such brutal honesty.”
like "ohh yeah we got our guy, he was holding the murder weapon, a manifesto that says "Hey feds! I did that crime and did it with this gun!! this is because the US has the most expensive healthcare but we don't even live as long as some other countries? and its the fault of the american public who I hate!" anne 10 grand! is obvious that this is our guy, and he's just a low down criminal who hates your! the american public"
also if they did find him with that why would he respond to their arrest with immediate legal defense rather than dignified resignation like the manifesto implies.

I’m following the DPRK debates (or trying to at least) but ultimately I’m struggling to understand how to glorify a nation that impedes so heavily on its citizen’s human rights, any insight?
Two things:
First, you shouldn't be trying to glorify anything. You should be trying to understand things and separating truth from fiction.
Second, in that vein, you should be seriously questioning what is being said about the DPRK and why. The US and its allies have a vested interest in ensuring that any socialist project fails, and when they are unable to cause a real failure, they work to make the public believe that it has failed anyway.
The two main sources of the most egregious human rights violations are defector testimony and US/ROK intelligence. If you've been following what I've posted about the DPRK on this blog then you should already know the problems with defector testimony (you can watch this short documentary if you want to know more about that and hear from a few former DPRK residents who rebut many typical defector narratives,) but suffice it to say that the ROK actively pays defectors to make false and scripted statements in the South Korean media, and those who do not go along with the ROK government narrative or who actively contradict it are censored and even face prison time.
Meanwhile, Western intelligence is inherently unverifiable. The best you're going to get is a satellite photo with a building labeled "torture facility" as if we're supposed to look at a roof and be like "uh-huh, that looks like a torture facility to me". US and ROK intelligence officials can and do say whatever they like, but at the end of the day they are the direct enemies of the DPRK and their claims cannot be trusted.
The two Korean governments are still at war; they have never signed a peace treaty. Their conduct must be viewed first and foremost in this context. Both the ROK and the DPRK block movement of people across the DMZ. Both the ROK and the DPRK prevent the dissemination of information coming from each other's nations. Both the ROK and the DPRK surveil their citizens and place controls on the media. Both the ROK and the DPRK place limits on political and cultural activity. The ROK acts to suppress anti-capitalist movements and protect the capitalist way of life, and the DPRK acts to suppress anti-socialist movements and protect the socialist way of life, as both sides view their own political and economic systems as vital to the protection of human rights. On any of these grounds, you cannot fault one side without faulting the other, which is why Western media often opts instead to focus on the more exaggerated and unverifiable claims except when explicitly advocating in favor of capitalism over socialism.
Finally, there is the issue of contradictory ideas of human rights. The capitalist West will insist time and time again that the right to private property is a basic human right, while avoiding or even denying the idea of a right to food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, etc. as a basic human right. To the West, a landlord's right to evict a tenant is inviolable. To the West, denying a person shelter is more of a human right than granting them shelter. The opposite is true in socialist nations such as the DPRK. That the DPRK holds different values as human rights does not then mean that the DPRK is some terrible oppressive violator of human rights. The right to be a capitalist should not be considered a human right. The right to be a saboteur should not be considered a human right.
The DPRK Association for Human Rights Studies, a non-governmental organization in Pyongyang, published a report in 2014 on human rights from the perspective of the DPRK, outlining their objections to US-led international human rights standards and the progress being made in the DPRK towards guaranteeing human rights. You can call it propaganda if you like, but if you do not even look at the statements coming out of the DPRK, how can you have a rounded view of the situation?
Had the DPRK not succeeded in withstanding the attacks against it, had it managed to become subjugated by the US and other imperialist forces, I do not think we could then say that human rights in North Korea would have been secured and safeguarded. The poverty and inequality that the proletariat of South Korea are afflicted with today would have become the norm across the whole peninsula. Even if you believe that human rights are violated today in the DPRK, you must at least admit that the victory of the US and its puppet government in the South cannot be a means of combating any alleged human rights violations in the North.

as a communist who actually does work in my community i'm interested to hear why you think not voting in an effective manner against project 2025 is a logical and helpful course of action.
i doubt you asked this in good faith but ill entertain you just this once
1) i live in california. biden will win this state easily. my vote LITERALLY does not matter.
2) to say im "not voting against project 2025" is disingenuous as all hell. im obviously opposed to that platform and i intend to vote down-ballot for candidates who would oppose its measures in congress. also joe biden has done NOTHING to protect trans people. look at how his admin has recently dropped all support for youth trans healthcare. he is not fucking helping us. honestly not a fan of the way you worded this its deeply condescending.
3) i intend to cast a vote for a candidate who will not use our military force and imperalist wealth to exploit and murder people all over the world. i am opposed to united states imperialism before anything else and believe this country needs to stay out of everyones business. im sick of seeing our "leaders" excuse the ceaseless murder of palestinians with a smile on their face. as a "communist" this should be your main driving force as well anon, tbh. as long as democrats run imperalist candidates i will not vote for them
4) if biden somehow manages to win this year, the dems are still famous for their concessions to the right. what makes you think he wouldnt sign half of proect 2025's policies into law for the sake of "reaching across the aisle" or some bullshit. plenty of dems have given up on protecting trans right because its a "bad look" and they are the party of spineless cowards setting that aside the right just regroups and makes project 2029, 2033 and so on. to blame individuals for "not voting effectively" (are you sure youre actually a commie anon lmao) is missing the forest for the trees. fascism is already entrenched in every aspect of american politics. this is a cultural sickness enabled by a system that allows hatred-as-politics to thrive. its the fault of the monsters who want to do this in the first place not some internet tranny in a blue state who wants to at least try and vote my true conscious.
there is no moral justification to vote for biden. to blame me and people like me for project 2025 is honestly disgusting. you should be ashamed of yourself and never send me or anyone else an ask like this again. if you are really a "communist" sit down and think about what you are REALLY supporting when you chastise people for not wanting to vote for EITHER of the Senile Genociders being presented by the 2 party partnership. see ya

i meant wrapped not trapped, I do not blame you for misunderstanding me, thats entirely my fault
I think you seem to believe that my issue with transandrophobia as a label is the idea that trans men face oppression (which they do), when instead its the idea that the oppression transmasculine people face is something completely unique to them, instead of being the underlying current of tranphobia
I literally spent the first paragraph explaining my issues with the *concept* of it before segawaying into my issue with it as a conterpart to transmisogyny due to them not sharing an underlying ideological framework
And to touch on some of doberbutts points, trans women are also correctively raped and have suicide rates, and the issue of access to abortion is for every person with a vagina, not just trans men
A frustrating thing that he does there is that instead of giving a counterargument to one of my points (what i personally believe to be a misnomer about the purpose of the label of transmisogyny, were you (nonspecific) view it as a threat to the validity of the trauma we face, and not as a way to describe their own, and what others believe to be just attention seeking) is to bring up severe (often sexual) trauma as a way to put a landmine on that specific point, because any attempt to explain why they are wrong becomes a personal attack on the traumatized parties
this got quite long, so response under the cut. @doberbutts this is the same anon you responded to (by reblogging my post) earlier.
ok
no form of violence experienced under an oppressive system is truly "unique" in that i don't think there are any experiences of violence or oppression that apply to only one specific group, but the motivations behind the violence can differ depending on the demographic it's being done to. i do not think that any specific example of transandrophobia is something that no one who isn't transmasc has experienced, but transandrophobia is the oppression specifically targeting transmascs. i and doberbutts have already pointed out how this works, so i don't feel the need to reiterate that.
you do not understand the concept of transandrophobia, and you regularly demonstrate that your understanding is surface-level and comes from people who have an interest in making it seem less credible. instead of asking people who theorize about anti-transmasculinity (including me and doberbutts!!!) you immediately become hostile and make many incorrect assumptions about our beliefs. i find this highly disrespectful and encourage you to stop getting all of your information about transandrophobia from people who misrepresent it to argue against the concept of anti-transmasculinity.
yes, abortion access is something that everyone who can get pregnant has to deal with, but trans men face unique discrimination wrt abortion access and access to reproductive healthcare that trans women do not. this is because there is a fundamental misogyny component to anti-transmasculinity that you and others who deny it because "it's transmisogynistic!!!" seem to have a failure to grasp. transandrophobia is transphobia, misogyny, homophobia, and the specific modifier of maleness on this oppression all at once. i wish there was a better word for how maleness adds to and modifies oppression in an intersectional way that wasn't associated with mras, but alas there is none that i am aware of. also: anti-transmasculinity never says or implies that trans women don't face some of the issues that trans men do! you are treating this like a pissing contest for who has it worse and that is an attitude i'll need you to drop.
denying transandrophobia is a sentiment that is directly hostile to transmasc survivors of sexual assault, abuse, hate crimes and other things that arise from living under a patriarchy that systemically excludes you from both the male and female classes. the reason why we use this rhetoric is because these types of things arise from the specific intersection that trans men face, and how that can further intersect with sexuality. you are simply making up what we believe on the spot and not actually listening. if you want to come off anon and have a conversation in dms, i'd be willing.
talking to people like you is frustrating because you make these claims about what transandrophobia theory is as if we're a monolith or a homogenous group instead of hundreds of trans men on tumblr dot com all contributing to a larger conversation. no matter how much you claim to be in good faith, you continue to disregard actual transandrophobia theory in favor of some bastardized version you got from someone with "white tme/tma" in their bio. i hope you take this criticism and reflect on how you may be wrong.

Don't you think it would make sense for muggleborns to be oppressed within the economic system whem they are already socially judged at minimum? So many people misunderstand muggles and it is clear that prejudice against muggleborns existed for many many years. Bigotry like that definitely inflitrates into the economy and social sphere of the wizarding world. Especially when they work so hard to hide themselves from muggles. That's why it is obvious to me that the death eaters and their ideology was fascist. They clearly wanted Voldemort on top and the muggleborns killed or enslaved in some way.
There is no evidence of it. And this is Rowling's fault because, while she may not be a Tory, she belongs to the European centrist social democracy, and culturally, this type of mindset generally supports public healthcare but fails to grasp the fundamental structures behind power dynamics and issues of class, race, or gender. It’s a conservative perspective that scratches the surface but doesn’t dig into the root of the problem. That’s why all her attempts, without exception, to create analogies between her world and real-world political issues fail miserably and are unsustainable.
For example, Rowling tries to use the concept of Muggle-borns as a parallel to racism, but it falls flat because there’s no economic or social structure in the wizarding world that treats Muggle-borns as possessions or commodities for trade, as historically happened with racialized people. Nor is there a colonialist precedent where wizards destroyed Muggle culture to impose their own. Ironically, it’s the other way around: wizards have hidden from Muggles, and wizards are the minority, with a much smaller population. The main issue wizards have with Muggle-borns is that they "taint their purity," meaning their culture.
The problem people like Lucius Malfoy have with Muggle-borns is that their pure-blood culture is based on medieval precepts, and the fact that for every pure-blood wizard, there are ten Muggle-borns threatens the foundation of that culture.
Racism is also supported by the inability of racialized people, historically, to be recognized as political subjects—that is, as mere human beings. Even after the end of the Ancien Régime and the introduction of new democratic systems based on censitary suffrage, a destitute, dying leper still had more rights and opportunities than racialized people. The leper was considered a person, while others were not—they were "properties" of the colony, even if not enslaved. They were conquests, possessions.
This dynamic doesn’t exist in the wizarding world. There is no indication that Muggle-borns were stripped of their humanity until the rise of supremacist ideas in the 20th century—absolutely none. They always had magical "citizenship," just like any other wizard. They always had access to magical education and positions in the wizarding society. The comparison to racism is absurd because, despite the strides racialized people have made to gain recognition as political subjects, they continued to lack basic civil rights. Again, this doesn’t happen in the wizarding world. In the 1970s, Muggle-borns feared the rise of Voldemort's supremacism, but there’s no evidence that this was an issue before then. Of course, many pure-blood families might have held prejudices, but that never stopped Muggle-borns from being considered wizards or having access to the same resources as any other wizard. It cannot, under any circumstances, be considered racism because it lacks the social, cultural, and economic structures that define racism.
The same issue arises with the concept of fascism in the wizarding world: it suffers from a severe lack of clear political and economic framework.
Fascism aims for total control over all aspects of human life, including the economy, education, and cultural values. Its goal is the creation of a totalitarian state that subsumes all individual freedoms under the collective will of the party and its leader. The Death Eaters do not seek a functional totalitarian state. They don’t seem interested in creating institutions to perpetuate their belief system beyond violence and terror. Instead, their structure resembles a mafia-like clique led by Voldemort. They are more akin to a cult with terrorist undertones than anything else—a gang of wealthy individuals angry about changes threatening their way of life, but still a minority. Violent, yes, but a minority, much like any nationalist splinter group that resorts to car bombs and violence.
The Death Eaters’ obsession with "blood purity" has a more feudal or aristocratic backdrop than a fascist one. It’s rooted in the preservation of ancient lineages and inherited privileges rather than a nationalist or expansionist project typical of fascism. Fascism, while racist, had modernist goals, such as promoting a "superior race" in the context of a national and global project. The Death Eaters, in contrast, are fundamentally reactionary, intent on maintaining archaic privileges against the tide of change in the wizarding world.
Fascism relies on the massive mobilization of the population, using propaganda to build a popular movement around a charismatic leader. Hitler and Mussolini, for example, built mass movements that transformed their societies. In Francoist Spain (I’m Spanish, and here we know a thing or two about fascism), a huge proportion of the population not only supported his coup and joined his ranks during the Civil War but also provided massive support during the dictatorship, which is why it lasted 40 years. The same applies to other 20th-century dictatorships like those of Videla or Pinochet: they had considerable popular support, not just from the economic elites but from significant portions of the general populace.
As far as we know in Harry Potter, Voldemort’s support comes only from the pure-blood elites and a few half-bloods, who are a tiny minority in that society. In fact, the pure-blood families’ main issue is that they are going extinct. Voldemort is not a charismatic leader mobilizing the masses. His power stems from fear, subjugation, and manipulation of a small group of followers. Unlike major 20th-century fascist leaders, he does not lead a populist movement. Fear tactics may work in an established fascist dictatorship, but no significant European fascist leader in the 20th century rose to power that way. Hitler won elections, Mussolini had significant societal support, and Franco had half the country on his side throughout the dictatorship. The terror came after the populist wave that brought them to power.
Then there's the fact that fascism, while deeply problematic, possesses an ideological complexity that combines cultural, social, and political ideas. Rowling simplifies the comparison by reducing the Death Eaters to one-dimensional villains driven solely by hatred. Those who voted for Hitler weren’t motivated solely by hatred; Hitler had a political program. He knew how to gather, distill, and synthesize the frustrations of a people morally and economically wounded by World War I. He understood the concerns of his people and used them to craft his rhetoric. Hitler had an entire team actively working on creating a narrative that didn’t just appease the elites but sought to convince the broader population, to tell them what they wanted to hear, to charm and deceive them into siding with him.
Voldemort never does this at any point. Voldemort is just a stereotypical ultimate villain, backed by stereotypical bad guys, and that’s it—there’s nothing more to it. He doesn’t draw on any of the strategies characteristic of fascism or traditional dictators. He’s simply an arch-villain, full stop. In Rowling’s work, the Death Eaters have no political program beyond their loyalty to Voldemort and their hatred of “mudbloods” and Muggles. This reduces the depth of the narrative and makes the comparison to fascism superficial.
You can’t claim that half of Germany voted for Hitler purely because of supremacism, because that’s simply not true. Similarly, people didn’t support Mussolini for that reason. And even less so Franco’s fascism, which never needed to lean on anti-Semitic rhetoric and discarded the “communist monster” narrative long before the Cold War became a pressing issue. These leaders got to where they were because they knew how to win over the people, and the discourses they employed were pure cheap populism, appealing to popular sentimentality about issues that, conveniently, affected them directly: the economic crisis, jobs, the threat of powerful superstates seeking to steal their identity, the economic enemy, and so on.
I’m sorry, but Rowling’s political understanding is rubbish, and it’s painfully evident in her work.

Non-paywalled version here.
"Tens of thousands of workers at Kaiser Permanente hospitals and clinics across the country will soon vote on whether to authorize a strike, union officials announced Thursday.
The Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions, which includes a dozen local unions with members in seven states and the District of Columbia, said voting would begin Saturday [August 26] and extend into the middle of September. Any strike would start no earlier than Oct. 1.
More than 80,000 employees are represented by the coalition, which counts among its members a wide range of hospital and clinic workers including nursing assistants, phlebotomists, pharmacy technicians and housekeepers. The coalition said that it represents roughly 40% of the overall Kaiser Permanente workforce.
Union leaders said that if a strike moves forward, it would be the largest strike of healthcare workers in the history of the country. They faulted Kaiser for inadequate and unsafe staffing and said the healthcare giant had failed to bargain with them in good faith by refusing to provide them with crucial information during negotiations, among other unfair labor practices.
“Patient care is in crisis at Kaiser Permanente,” said Linda Bridges, president of one of the unions in the coalition, OPEIU Local 2in Silver Spring, Md. “Staffing was decimated during the pandemic and it has not gotten any better. The problem we’re dealing with is Kaiser is not hearing us.
“Kaiser can and must do better. ... They need to stop the unfair labor practices and address the healthcare staffing needs now.”
Regan, the SEIU-UHW president, said the coalition has proposed a $25 hourly minimum wage for its members across the Kaiser Permanente system, saying that “you cannot take care of a family in Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Honolulu” on $19 to $21 an hour. He said Kaiser had recently proposed a much lower minimum — $21 an hour — in 2026."

Note: Also, if you have Kaiser and you've been putting off any doctors appointments, uh...you might want to make those asap.

Oh I am fucking angry.
Dr. Edwin Leap (yes, I will call you out by name because you published your bullshit online for the whole world to see), thank you for almost comedically illustrating why so many patients are afraid of doctors.
You do not ever get to think of your patients as other. They are your same flesh and blood; I don’t care how much you want to think of yourself as separate from those of us unwell. (I can tell how much disdain you hold for us just from this short article. We are failures, not good enough, not strong and morally pure like you are, hm?)
Healthcare can never, never, allow itself to other its patients. And yet, you publish an entire article calling sick people Homo infirmus and Homo fragilis? Your tone doesn’t come across very humorous, but even if it’s just supposed to be a silly little joke, explain to me why the fuck you think that would be okay.
Why the fuck would it be okay to say another person is not only not your same species but instead defined as other primarily by their illness?
And designated as such by you, a medical professional with direct influence on the lives and wellbeings of the very people you are dehumanizing?
Do you not see how terrifying that is? Do you not see why people would be afraid of you after just having read this piece?
And then you go on, boiling my blood:
“Homo fragilis, at least as a diagnostic category, begins earlier and earlier in life and often results not only in a tribe of people dependent on medications but also, ‘relying on the kindness of strangers.’ No, maybe better put, ‘demanding the kindness of strangers.’ These individuals require food, shelter, medication, affirmation, and often money from others because they cannot function in the wild. I’m not being mean; the causes are legion, from poor family structure to mental health challenges to social media.”
I cannot believe how many infuriating things you’ve said just in this paragraph alone, but I want to focus on the part that immediately washed me with deep shame. Unrightfully so. You have no right to make me feel ashamed, and yet, when you said “demanding” better captures my state of existence, it turned my stomach inside out.
Yes, I am disabled. I absolutely rely very heavily on other people. Yes, I require food, shelter, medication, affirmation, money. And so do you, christ. You aren’t better than us just because we need support from our communities. Getting support from those around us isn’t a crime, isn’t a wrongdoing, isn’t a moral failure.
You know what it is? Human.
Whether or not Margaret Mead actually said that a healed femur in recovered ancient remains was the earliest sign of civilization (we’re going to save the charged nature of this term for another time and for now just use it as a placeholder for consistent, steady, lasting community), there is a reason why people latch onto this story. There is a reason why it warms people’s hearts:
So many of us want to care* for people. So many of us want to have people care for us. So many people feel closer to others, to ourselves, to our own humanity when offering others care.
(*I am including all the vastly different ways we can show others care, love, support, respect, protection, encouragement, etc.)
And perhaps the most upsetting part is how close you are to understanding the problem while getting the most key pieces so, so wrong. You’re right, our current healthcare system cannot handle the amount of support patients need right now. But please, I beg you, could you consider for just one second that it is not the fault of the patients? Could you please not strip me of my humanity just because I need help to survive?
Fix the system. You’re right, there is a massive problem. But it’s not us. Next time you’re considering your “long-dormant zoology degree,” think twice and reflect a bit before publishing bullshit like this. Think about what it means to take care of those around you. Think about your own humanity.

let's encourage the obesity epidemic burdening our already shit healthcare system!!! yay!!!
This is a bad faith anon but because I feel like it:
If you really wanted to address healthcare and the obesity epidemic, it'd be way more efficient to handle its underlying factors - lack of time, resources, and education regarding nutrition and exercise. This lack of time and resources is directly caused by the intense workload and stress capitalism forces onto people to survive, and the lack of education is a connected but more complex problem.
This is on top of genetic factors that can make it hard for some people to deal with their weight, and more importantly the way that pollution has affected people's weights. Seriously, look up the affects of PFAS on humans.
The other side is that you could address the healthcare system itself. Which is also a complicated issue but largely the fault of capitalism.
But the point of that post is that fat is a morally neutral concept that, if we want to actually attack the stigma it has and the way fat people are treated in society, we have to allow for people who will choose to be fat. And yes, that includes people who want to gain weight on purpose. They're still people and should be respected as such - not turned into a rhetorical burden in society to please your fatphobia.

Hitler had a family too.
The sympathization over killer-turning-victim, and what we learned from the recent CEO’s shooting in NYC.
Brian Thompson’s two teenage sons and widow are the latest addition to the grieving sea of people surrounding his name, but ironically the only ones who joined it after his death.
Thanks to his fruitful career path of being a healthcare bouncer, thousands of sick people’s coverage claims got denied, resulting in the deaths of at least 2 people.
His major in-office accomplishment is arguably the AI algorithm used to simplify the approval or denial process of insurance claims. More specifically, “the investigation, cited by the lawsuit, found UnitedHealth pressured medical employees to follow an algorithm, which predicts a patient’s length of stay, to issue payment denials to people with Medicare Advantage plans. Internal documents revealed that managers within the company set a goal for clinical employees to keep patients rehab stays within 1% of the days projected by the algorithm.”
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota, accuses UnitedHealth and its subsidiary, NaviHealth, of using the computer algorithm to “systematically deny claims” of Medicare beneficiaries struggling to recover from debilitating illnesses in nursing homes.
The reality of the matter is that although the shooter, Luigi Mangione, assumed the role of the judge and executioner, Brian Thompson was appointed to play the role of God. And only one of those situations is illegal.
It’s frankly really enticing to add that only one of these situations is morally reprehensible, but this is not true.
“Vigilante justice is fault proof” is not a hill most of us want to die on. Personal acts of violence can never equate to the judicial system, nor do they claim to most of the time. What they have in common, however, is the perpetrator’s objective goal for his initiative to incite a change for the better.
The proposed takeaway from this is the symbolic perception of Mangione’s act, as a telltale of greed, class war and injustice.
Immediately upon news were released, a hope for the class movement was born while a shiver run down the 1%’s spine.
The poor did not rejoice that a man is dead, though they most certainly cheered at the symbolized slaughter of Healthcare Inc.
The opportunity for this incident to awake class consciousness among the lower ranks must not be stifled by the mourning of human life.
Just because monsters die like humans doesn’t mean we have to mourn them.

[ 📹 Scenes of chaos as residents and rescue crews work to save as many victims as possible after the Israeli occupation forces bombed the UN-run Abu Oreiban School housing displaced Palestinian families in the Nuseirat Camp, in central Gaza Strip, killing 15 civilians and wounding 70 others, mostly women and children, who were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. 📈 The current death toll in Gaza now exceeds 38'584 Palestinians killed, while another 88'881 others have been wounded since Oct. 7th ]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🏘️💥🚑 🚨
282 DAYS OF "ISRAEL'S" ONGOING WAR OF GENOCIDE IN THE GAZA STRIP: ZIONIST SETTLERS ONCE AGAIN DEFILE AL-AQSA MOSQUE, TARGETED WATER LINE SUPPLYING GAZA CITY IS REPAIRED, NETANYAHU TO MEET WITH BIDEN BEFORE SPEECH TO CONGRESS, GENOCIDE CONTINUES AS DOZENS SLAUGHTERED IN ONGOING SHELLING OF DISPLACEMENT SHELTERS
On 282nd day of the Israeli occupation's ongoing special genocide operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 4 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 141 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, while another 400 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.
It should be noted that as a result of the constant Israeli bombardment of Gaza's healthcare system, infrastructure, residential and commercial buildings, local paramedic and civil defense crews are unable to recover countless hundreds, even thousands of victims who remain trapped under the rubble, or whose bodies remain strewn across the streets of Gaza.
This leaves the official death toll vastly undercounted as Gaza's healthcare officials are unable to accurately tally those killed and maimed in this genocide, which must be kept in mind when considering the scale of the mass murder.
The head of Gaza's Water Authority, Mazen Ghoneim, announced on Sunday, July 14th, the completion of repairs to faults found in the central waterline that supplies drinking water to northern Gaza Strip. In particular, the water line provides some 60% of Gaza City's water supply, including its largest and most densely populated neighborhoods such as Al-Tuffah, Al-Sabra, Al-Daraj, Al-Zaytoun and other areas of the city.
According to Ghoneim, who spoke with Palestinian public broadcaster, PalestineTV, Water Authority crews have been working for several days in dangerous security conditions to perform the necessary maintenance and repair on the Al-Mintar water line, including the identification and repair of damaged parts of the line, followed by experimental pumping operations to ensure the water line remains functional.
Ghoneim explained that the repair of the Al-Mintar water line was completed in April under extraordinary conditions amid the Israeli occupation army's continued operations in the northern Gaza Strip.
However, soon after the repairs were completed, Zionist forces again targeted the Al-Mintar line, destroying or damaging large parts of the line during the occupation army's incursion into the Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood of Gaza City approximately two weeks ago, which required it to be repaired once again.
Ghoneim assured PalestineTV that Gaza's Water Authority is closely monitoring all water lines, as well as the occupation army's shelling, to ensure the functionality of the water lines and the continued consistent supply of safe drinking water to Gaza City's residents.
In other news, dozens of extremist Israeli colonial settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem), on Sunday morning, and then again on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Palestinian Information Center, who spoke with local residents, scores of Zionist settlers raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through its Maghariba Gate, and began to tour the compound under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces.
Zionist settlers also gathered in large numbers in the eastern area of the Mosque, while performing Talmudic rituals and prayers, and as the Shin Bet police imposed restrictions of movement and entry on Muslim worshippers at the Mosque's entrance.
In the meantime, in more news on Sunday, the Israeli occupation's Prime Minster, Benjamin Netanyahu, has scheduled a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden to take place just two days prior to the Prime Minister's planned speech before the American Congress.
Netanyahu is expected to meet with Biden on Monday, July 22nd, amid strained relations between the two leaders, in the context of the ongoing genocidal war being conducted by the Israeli occupation army, while the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a speech to the United States Congress on Wednesday, July 24th.
According to Palestinian news outlet SAMA News, the Prime Minister's staff said in a briefing on Sunday that “President Biden will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House on Monday of next week, July 22."
Netanyahu is scheduled to deliver his speech to Congress just two days following the meeting with President Biden. Many of Biden's advisors and some Democrats have been sharply critical of Netanyahu, while others have condemned the planned speech, which was arranged without the okay from the Biden administration, resulting in a number of Democrats in the House and Senate who have issued statements declaring their intention to boycott Prime Minister's speech.
The planned meeting and speech will mark the first time the Zionist Prime Minister has traveled abroad since the start of the occupation's genocide, beginning with the Palestinian Resistance's "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood" attacks on October 7th, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued their genocidal war in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, bombing and shelling various axis of the Palestinian enclave, and leaving dozens of casualties in its wake.
At the same time, the Palestinian Resistance factions continued targeting the invading occupation army wherever it showed its ugly head, including several attacks on the Merkava tanks and armored personnel carriers of the invading forces.
According to the Al-Qassam Brigades, belonging to the Hamas Resistance movement, their forces managed to conduct an ambush of Zionist vehicles, destroying 3 Merkava tanks using the "Al-Yassin 105mm" domestically-produced anti-armor RPG shells near Abu Dhar Al-Ghafari Mosque, east of the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, where clashes continue between the invading occupation army and resistance forces in the area.
Similarly, the Al-Qassam Brigades says its fighters detonated a minefield around a Zionist engineering force in the Al-Shawka neighborhood, east of Rafah City, killing or wounding the entire force.
The fighters of the Al-Qassam Brigades went on to target an Israeli occupation military Hummer using an RPG shell, before clashing with a number of Zionist soldiers in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City, killing or wounding the entirety of the forces in and around the military vehicles.
Lastly, Al-Qassam says its mujahideen managed to target a Zionist ground-force that had taken refuge inside a building using two mortar shells, resulting in the deaths and wounding of several soldiers near the cemetery, located east of Rafah City, in the southern Gaza Strip.
In the meantime, it was also reported on Sunday that the death toll in the Israeli occupation's attack on the tents of displaced Palestinian families in the town of Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis, has risen to 90.
According to the official WAFA News Agency of the State of Palestine, medical sources reported that the death toll from the Al-Mawasi massacre has risen to 90 martyrs, more than half of the victims being among women and children, while another 300 others were wounded by the assault, many of them remaining in critical condition.
Previously, the Israeli occupation army had designated the Al-Mawasi area as a "safe area" and a humanitarian zone, where Palestinian civilians were told to evacuate to under mandatory orders from the army.
Soon after the massacre in Al-Mawasi, the Zionist army committed another atrocity when occupation fighter jets bombed a prayer hall near the White Mosque, located in the Al-Shati Refugee Camp, west of the city of Gaza, resulting in the deaths of another 20 civilians and wounding dozens of others.
On Sunday, the 282nd day of the occupation's ongoing genocide, the Israeli occupation army continued its atrocities across the Gaza Strip, as the occupation's aircraft, drones and artillery continue to pummel residential neighborhoods and shelters housing the displaced.
In one example, occupation forces targeted a residential house belonging to the Haji family in the vicinity of the Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of 4 Palestinians, and wounding several others, who were taken to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the city.
Similarly, Zionist warplanes bombed the Abu Yousef family home in the Abu Iskandar area of the Shiekh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City, killing at least 7 civilians and wounding 7 others who were transferred to the Indonesian Hospital in the town of Beit Lahiya, in the northern Gaza Strip.
At the same time, occupation fighter jets bombarded a residential tower where the Al-Haddad family residence was located, in the Al-Shaabiya area of central Gaza City, after which, civil defense personnel managed to recover the bodies of 3 martyrs and another 20 wounded.
Additionally, local paramedic crews transferred 5 wounded Palestinians to the Nasser Medical Complex in the city of Khan Yunis, south of Gaza, after IOF warplanes bombed the home of the Shurab family in the Al-Salam neighborhood, south of the city.
Zionist aircraft also bombed the residential house of the Toman family in the Abu Mahadi area of Al-Nuseirat, in the central Gaza Strip. Following the strike, local paramedic crews recovered the body of one murdered Palestinian, who was transported to Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat Camp.
The Israeli occupation army continued its slaughter when occupation fighter jets bombed near the Rafah border crossing, south of Gaza, near the border with Egypt, resulting in the deaths of two Palestinians.
The Zionist occupation army has controlled the Rafah border crossings since May 7th, when occupation forces, in direct violation of prior agreements with Egypt, invaded the Philadelphi corridor near the Egyptian border, taking control over the land crossings and burning its facilities to the ground.
Since then, the Israeli entity has kept the Rafah crossings closed, preventing the free flow of humanitarian aid to starving civilian populations, while also blocking the severely sick and wounded from using the land crossings to seek medical treatment abroad.
In yet further crimes against humanity, the warplanes of the Israeli occupation forces commited another war crime when its forces bombed the UNRWA-run Abu Oreiban School housing large numbers of displaced Palestinian families in the Nuseirat Camp, in the central Gaza Strip, killing at least 15 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, and wounding another 70 others.
As a result of the Israeli occupation's ongoing war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, the endlessly rising death toll now exceeds 38'584 Palestinians killed, including at least 10'000 women and well over 15'000 children, while another 88'881 others have been wounded since the start of the current round of Zionist aggression, beginning with the events of October 7th, 2023.
The brings the total casualty count to well above 127'465 killed, or the equivalent of 5.5% of the 2.3 million Palestinians who call the Gaza Strip home.

as a trans man im misgendered every single day of my life. I have had top surgery, i have not started hrt because of the convoluted trans healthcare system in my country
the fact that im misgendered is framed as being normal ‘because you still look like a woman, so you shouldn’t assume people know you’re not’
this is both a true statement and something that endlessly bothers me. because: yes, i don’t pass and im aware of that. however, my chest is flat and i wear masculine clothing and i exclusively use my chosen name at work and thats how far my attempts to pass can go.
i also think it fucking sucks that im not seen as a man. but i have nowhere to put that frustration because i still look like a woman according to cis people so its my fault when they call me a woman.

Considering recent events and posts I'd like to point out that this is supposed to be constructive criticism. Not bullying. Not anything else.
I don't try to "criticize" things Kc cannot control, such as the fandom. That whole Party discourse thing? That was me criticizing the fandom. Kittycorn squeakself has never made or alluded to any toxic ships. It was moreso me just being angry at the fandom for shipping a therapist with their clients AND ignoring Party's sexuality considering he's gay/achillean from what I've been informed. It was not an attack towards the ZCP or Kittycorn because they genuinely couldn't control these things if they TRIED. If anything, it's the fandoms fault for it.
I know that this comic is meant to be comforting for kit. The only things I've given constructive criticism for is is the way that disabilities are handled. And there's no way you can tell me I am "bullying" when I say that because I am literally a visually impaired person giving constructive criticism on how a disability that relates to MINE could be better handled in the comic. I love Sparklecare as someone who has experienced ableism from almost everyone around me. I think it's a great way to symbolize ableism and the way the healthcare system is inherently toxic and a breeding ground for trauma and assault.
I only made this a separate blog from my main because I figured people wouldn't want to see constructive criticism on my main. Not to mention that some people in the fandom (not blaming Kc or the ZCP for this) can really be white knights and decide that anything less than positivity for the comic is an attack against Kc. You can tell me this isn't true but I've seen people be called all flavors of slurs and even been told to harm themselves over this. And I'm talking about literal children having to put up with being sent these things. Regardless of the blog or not, I should NOT be scared of saying anything against the comic in fear of getting death threats. The fandom is getting bad behind the scenes and I do not blame Kc for that. Kit did nothing to deserve this. Especially all of those "criticism" blogs that aren't actually criticism, but just bullying the comic and tearing it apart. When I agree that SCH has its problems, all media does and we should simply acknowledge these without saying the entire comic is garbage because. It's not. It has gotten so many people, me included out of dark places and when I criticize it I always try to make it as constructive as possible because I genuinely love this comic and its message. It hits super close to home for me and I love to see the story and characters grow and change. This includes me feeling comfortable enough to give constructive advice on how disabilities similar to mine could be more comfortably portrayed. I have never and never will say that the comic or Kc are bad because honestly? The comic already treats (most) disability or disorders a LOT better than other media does. And that's something I praise it for. I could go on and on about the things I like about this comic and characters, like Creams AFRID being treated in a humanizing and positive way. As someone with food sensitivity, I am so happy to see it be painted in a normal, healthy way and not the characters making fun of it, as a lot of media does.
But loving something means you need to acknowledge its flaws. And Sparklecare has flaws, as all media does. That does NOT mean that you should make Kc feel bad about her own fucking trauma. You are not entitled to know kits trauma. You are not entitled to the characters identities. You can say something Upsets you, but that doesn't mean that it's inherently bad. Some things on this blog are just things that upset me. It's okay to be upset by things. But it doesn't mean that whatever upsets you should immediately be changed unless it is an actual problem and not just something that YOU personally do not like.
This turned out way longer than I thought it would, but I uh. Just wanted to get that out there.
