AFTER WAITING TWO MONTHS MY MISSY COMIC FINALLY ARRIVED AAAAA I'M SO EXCITED!!! I HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS COMIC

I thought I got scammed or smth (I still think I got scammed because my Empire Of The Wolf comic didn't arrive and I think I'll have to wait another month to receive it...) because it took a long time to arrive but I can finally say it's real!!!

"Hey-- uh, Danny?" There's an almost imperceptible tremor in Tucker's voice.

Danny doesn't look up from what he's doing, his pencil scritching across his notebook as he tries to do another quadratic formula question. "Hm."

"What's -- uh -- what's with the dogs?"

He looks up now, and finally sees where Tucker is -- standing in the doorway of his room with an ashy look on his face and a skewed, nervous smile. He's got a white knuckle grip on the doorknob. Sam is wide-eyed behind him, and using him as a partial meat-shield.

Danny looks down to the two giant ghost wolves sprawled next to him lazily. One large green one with his head in Danny's lap, letting him use him as a prop-up for his notebook. Another equally large black one splayed against his hip, sleeping on her side with her head tilted inward to his calf.

Automatically, a grin tilts across Danny's face, and he lifts his notebook up to scratch behind the green one's ears. He opens a lazy eye, one that is bloody red with a ring of yellow around the pupil, before slipping it shut and leaning his head into Danny's touch. "This is Sirius and Procyon," he says, and reaches down to scratch Sirius' belly. "And they're not dogs, they're wolves."

"Great," Tucker says, his voice suddenly much smaller and faint, "Love that distinction."

Sirius makes a great big groan, and Danny's grin widens, his heart swelling with fondness. His hand slips away from her belly, and before he can put his notebook back down, Procyon pushes his head up his lap until his ear is against his stomach, demanding pets now too.

Sam peeks her head up from over Tucker's shoulder, "I think what Tucker's asking here is what are they doing here, Danny."

He shrugs, scratching under Procyon's chin. "They kinda just showed up. I tried sending them back to the Zone, but they keep returning." And they were weirdly intent on just following him around, which is the only reason he gave up on returning them. They weren't causing trouble, and they knew how to hide around the living. Plus, he just loves dogs. "So now I have two wolves living with me."

This, oddly enough, did not do anything to calm Sam and Tucker down. Tucker's mouth purses into a thin line, and he presses the sides of his palms to his lips in prayer. "How have your parents not found out about this?"

Danny wordlessly raises his hand, and his sleeve slides down to reveal a thin chain bracelet hooked around his wrist. He whistles sharply, and both Procyon and Sirius jerk their heads up to look at him, ears pricked up and eyes alert.

Silently, he points to his wrist and rattles it twice, and in unison both wolves stand up and pounce. Instantly, they turn into a respective, opaque black and green mist that swirls around the bracelet and forms into two, flat wolf charms.

Both wolves are posing in the stereotypical wolf howl, with little stars indented on the sides. Procyon's charm has the Canis Minor constellation engraved on it, while Sirius has the Canis Major.

Danny faces Sam and Tucker, and points at his wrist. "Like this."

I absolutely did not intend to go this hard on this piece. It was a doodle of Nari and Wren bc I love them, and then the kits got in there, and then next thing I know I'm sinking 10+ hours into it.

So this is God in a Godless Land (obviously), and this is a few nights before... everything goes wrong :) About ten years before Narinder meets the Lamb and his siblings again.

My app crashed multiple times, my pen died twice, and my battery was constantly teetering on the edge of absolutely nothing at all, but I am happy with it <3

I do need,, HCQ revisited at some point. Doesn’t even have to be in any main story, I honestly just need more HCQ readables because those are some of the most enjoyment I’ve gotten out of Honkai Star Rail. Baiheng’s Travelogue to the Zhuming chANGED MY LIFE and sewed the seeds for an obsession that is far too unhealthy to the point I am in the process of wasting my money to make a Blade ita bag. And it was a single readable that started me spiralling into this obsession and made me motivated to read more readables and character stories and etc.

I need another Baiheng travelogue… here’s to praying we get another if we end up on the Yaoqing soon, in general heres to hoping for more BH lore on the Yaoqing since apparently she’s from a very prominent family on that ship.

I just really need more HCQ crumbs because as much as I love them, their in game dynamics are so underdeveloped. Yes, we have a lot of Dan Feng and Yingxing, but a lot is very vague, and we have to mostly make assumptions with the little crumbs we have. Baiheng and Jingliu also have a lot set up, but I really need more content of them because my god, we barely know anything bout their dynamic too. We mostly have the aftermath and Jingliu’s grief, but I want to know about their happiness so her prolonged mourning hits even harder by knowing exactly what she lost. Jing Yuan and Jingliu probably have the most show upfront dynamic mostly due to the animated short, but the knowledge of Jing Yuan’s dynamics with the rest of them are practically nonexistent outside of that one line about Yingxing and Jing Yuan bickering and sad looks he has that really don’t hit as hard in my opinion because we don’t have the context.

And personally out of all the dynamics I want more content more, I think I want Jing Yuan and Baiheng content the most. The lines he has when he visits the Express that are about her are my saving grace, I am the biggest advocate for these to have a very sweet familial kind of bond and messing around together causing all kinds of trouble. Bonus points if they get Yingxing along for the ride with them. But we have crumbs only 😭 we only have itty bitty crumbs and I am starving

I have a lot of my own views about what I hc their dynamics as due to what we know, but god I want to see what their dynamics in canon are supposed to be. I ranted so much about how I see Dan Feng and Yingxing’s potential dynamic, but even with that, I wanna know. I wanna know about Jingliu and Yingxing, to add even more pain to how their dynamic is now (which hehehe… I have some ideas for this specific topic, but I want canon stuff too not just my own hcs). I wanna see just exactly what Jingliu lost when Baiheng died, what in Baiheng and the way she treated her made her so devastated as to promise to cut down the stars from the sky (which? Is that? Potentially a code for something else like the current plan she has regarding a certain aeon?), like Jingliu was so clearly devastated and tormented by Baiheng’s death, still is 700 years later and we don’t know what about her made it so painful. Yes Baiheng was clearly kind as she’s been established, but just how was she kind to Jingliu? I have my own assumptions and conclusions given what we know about both, but even then it’s still something pretty completely fabricated in my head because we don’t have enough!! thinking tonight about how byan hasn't ever really travelled anywhere and basically hasn't ever left the city they were born in. like, okay yeah, they did go to south korea to meet their adoptive parents' families once, but they were two and have no memory of it. they don't even realize they've been there, that's how little memory they have of the time. and yeah, they've also been on field trips, mostly back in elementary and middle school, but the farthest those ever went were maybe to a neighbouring city if they were really lucky, and it only ever lasted for a few hours, so does that really count?

they've never been able to leave the city of their own volition and explore another place, never even stayed in a hotel, and that's something they kind of hate because they'd love to see and experience new places. ...and also cause some trouble there but shhhh

33. Wedding + Kazui

Hiii you're back!! :D Thank you so much, this had so many interesting possibilities ough... I ended up going with a convo with Mahiru (I hope you don't mind a second Mappi drabble lmao) as he reminisces about his past. Go vote your sad wet cat innocent today 👍

A hand darted out to grab Kazui’s wrist. Mahiru’s voice was weak.

“Can you stay? Shidou is going to be a minute. I don't want to be alone.”

Kazui was supposed to come in, drop something off, and return back to his cell quickly. He didn’t know how to comfort someone like Mahiru in general, nor did he know what to say after all that had happened. He hated the idea of seeing her like this when he was the one who hadn’t reached her in time. He really didn’t want to stay.

“I’d love to.”

He sat beside her, trying to make himself comfortable on the cool cell floor. 

She retracted her hand. “Thank you.”

Before Kazui could even wonder what a young woman like her would want to talk about, she whispered, “can I ask you something? You don’t have to answer if it makes you upset.”

He was already regretting his decision. “Go ahead.”

“Could you tell me about your wedding?” Kazui felt his chest tighten. “I always dreamed of mine. You know, I had the whole thing planned already. He never even knew…” She laughed, but quickly winced in pain. “Things may have… changed between you two.” 

Kazui had been careful to hold details of his life closer than some of the other prisoners. None of them had a very good idea of what had brought him here -- he felt bad that Mahiru may have been under the wrong impression of his marriage. 

It wouldn’t have been the first time.

She asked, “but the wedding day itself… is it just as magical as everyone says?”

Despite the dim lighting, surrounded by a mess of bandages, Mahiru’s eyes glimmered.

“Yes,” he lied. 

“I knew it…” 

He couldn’t fabricate exactly what she was looking for. So he told her what he’d told himself many times before. It was the truth. Technically speaking, that is.

“That morning,” he began, “you wake with your stomach in knots. You feel the anticipation in your whole body.” He kept up a smile, and she seemed to buy it. “I’m a pretty organized guy, so I thought I’d be thinking about all our plans -- the schedule, guests, food, things like that. But I wasn’t worried about any of it. The only thing in my mind, all day, was her. And the many, many years ahead of us. The time stretches on for miles in front of you.”

Mahiru let out a content sigh.

“And everyone's so happy. I’ve never had that many people excited for me and my life. It’s everywhere you look. You breathe in and you can practically taste their joy.”

“Oh, that must be wonderful.”

“Y-yeah. It sure is something. And of course, when you see the other all done up for the first time, walking towards you with a huge smile, tears in their eyes… I’ve never felt anything like it.”

“What about the vows? And the rings? Is it really so special?”

“Of course. When you put on those rings, you feel inseparable.” Kazui folded his hands together. Hopefully Mahiru couldn’t see he’d taken his off. “You feel connected to them. You know you’re going to be with this person forever.”

She let out another dreamy sound, though he was beginning to falter. He was grateful when Shidou entered, apologizing for the delay. 

Kazui stood, offering one last smile. “I hope you can rest.”

“Oh, yes, especially now. Thank you. That was all so perfect.”

He turned to leave, his own words still echoing in his mind. His hand drifted into his pocket, brushing against the small silver piece.

You’re going to be with this person forever. 

On that day, it had seemed like a curse. Then again, on that day, ‘til death do us part’ seemed a lifetime away.
