if you have a recovering addict in your life. it is really really important that you make sure you’re not trying to remove their autonomy. this includes ASKING them what their needs are instead of just acting on assumptions

for example, I’d still like to be invited along to things where alcohol will be present + be given enough info to make an informed decision for myself. and it’s not fair to just stop inviting people along to things because you think that’s what’s in their best interests. but that’s just my preference! everyone is going to be different and in general it’s not fair to make any kind of assumptions about someone else’s needs and preferences

so i just realized something,

when adam first reveals that he's been stalking lawrence, he takes the photos out of the bag and kinda just.. throws them all around the bathroom

and as we all see in 2, 3, 3D, and X, the bathroom is COMPLETELY empty after adam dies

every time someone mischaracterizes nuanced character relationships and turns it into a basic parent-child dynamic, i die a little inside

my main gripe with this is about nahida being called scara's mom/aunt but it also extends to zhongli & xiao, beidou & kazuha, wriothesley & sigewinne, neuvillette & furina, and others.

like. i enjoy found family as much as everyone else, but that is a terrible injustice to the characters' writing. the character typecast as the child is infantilized to hell and back while the other character is reduced to a 2d caricature of the perfect parent. Bruh

don't get me wrong, headcanons are fine and all, it just irks me that some people consider it lore accurate when it really isn't
