Ok so we know how the Cowboy yan reacts to an indifferent city girl reader…BUT…
How’d he react and handle a reader who’s a bit of a ditzy bimbo in the best way possible? (Think of Marilyn Monroe’s character from, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, if you’ve ever seen the movie. I really recommend it!)
Yandere cowboy x bimbo. reader
If reader was the stereotypical dumb, pretty girl, the cowboy would find it very endearing. He’s not the smartest one of the bunch himself, so he’d think it’s cute. If it was the other way around and reader being insanely intelligent, he’d still love them and tell her how sexy he finds it. However, he probably wouldn’t be able to help feeling unworthy since he’s more brawn than brain.
The cowboy would make it his responsibility to protect reader(he would no matter what but especially in this case). She’s too careless: trusting anyone who throws her a smile! It’s not safe. Reader is pretty too, so there’s a big chance some creep will become obsessed with her and stalk her. The cowboy doesn’t trust her to notice someone hiding in the bushes on her way home, following her every step. Of course he had to make sure she’s safe by walking at a safe distance behind her whenever she went home alone. Only so she’ safe, though. Not so he can drag his gaze over her form and imagine sinful fantasies involving both of them. And especially not so he can linger outside the bedroom window until the sun starts to rise.
It wouldn’t take long for him to start manipulating his darling. Every day there would be speeches on how only he truly cares for her, how everyone else tries to take advantage of her, of how she needs him.
If bimbo reader told the cowboy she had to leave the village and go back to the city, he would immediately convince her it’s not a good idea. From all the previous conversations, he has picked up enough information about her friends to come up with unlikely scenarios. He’ll say that they’re not her friends and that they’re obviously just pretending. From her stories about them, it’s clear that they treat her awfully. Why would she go back?
If that doesn’t work, the cowboy will activate the water work.
The poor, kindhearted bimbo reader can’t abandon someone so pitiful. The way he sobs and begs her to stay is seriously tugging on her heart strings.
In all, he wouldn’t treat her so differently compared to indifferent reader, except that he’s a bit more protective and thinks she’s naive and therefore need him. I mean, he’d think she needs him not matter what but this is in a more practical way. The cowboy would do everything for bimbo reader. Need some water? He’s getting a glass from the cupboard right now. Need to change the lightbulb? He’s the best at changing lightbulbs! You want some flowers in your garden? He’s out in the field plucking wild flowers and will even replant them for you.
With (for example) the indifferent reader, he would recognise that she wants to do things on her own and let her.
Not with bimbo reader though. She is too sweet, she might accidentally hurt herself.

Ok, so I wanted to do a deeper dive into this particular passage of Good Omens:
Tumblr media
For context, this is at the climax of the book, they’re at Tadfield airbase, the horsemen have been dispensed with, Aziraphale has his body back, and Satan is about to claw his way out of the pit.
In most of the proceeding chapters involving Crowley it talks a lot about how scared Crowley is. He is very scared of Hell.
One could perhaps say maybe he is scared of them due to The Arrangement, but that is never explicitly stated. I think it has more to do with Hell is bad, and Crowley has spent the majority of the book being yelled at by some entity through the radio or TV telling him how he’s going to be in super amounts of trouble when they get their hands on him. He is just scared of what will happen. When he comes across the book shop burning he doesn’t cry for his lost friend. He curses Aziraphale, and I think it’s because the one person who may have been able to keep him safe and protected from Hell is now gone.
So when he thinks to himself (as shown in the above screen shot) that there is now nothing left for him to lose, this is why I never thought (upon reading the book the first time that is) there were any romantic feelings between him and Aziraphale. I know that technically he had already lost Aziraphale. But by this point he was back again, and back in his body. If there truly were romantic thoughts between them surely the idea of losing him again would come up.
I have read so much fanfiction, some old, some new, and what they all have in common is the detailed inner monologue of Crowley’s turmoil over his feelings for Aziraphale and how he doesn’t feel like he can act on them. In the book we get nothing of the sort, from either character. Even when they’re separated there is hardly ever any description of them thinking of the other except occasionally to frame a short reference to something. Reading the book I never got the impression that there was anything more than two ethereal beings spending time and proximity to each other and doing work for each other for no other reason than they’re essentially a bit lazy.
I think they’re only queer coded for the fact that there’s the line about Aziraphale appearing “gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitric oxide”, and Crowley is, well, very Freddie Mercury coded. Them being seen as gay together and all the gay slurs in the awful racist scenes of Aziraphale body hopping about in culturally indigenous people after the bookshop fire has more to do with the very typical 80’s/90’s trope of “being gay = comedy gold”, than them actually being together romantically.
I think the reason why they were shipped so much after the publication however is for the same reason we ship so many male couples (or female couple) in modern media, why we’ve always shipped them: because of the complete and horrid lack there of, of proper queer representation.
If you’ve ever seen the magnificent Russel T Davies TV series It’s a Sin, there is a wonderful scene where the character Ash starts a job in a school library and the headmaster asks him to go through all the books and find any book that has queer love scenes so they can be removed. Ash then gives a most beautiful and impassioned speech (albeit it turns out the speech is just in his head) of how there is nothing. Absolutely nothing. There is nothing to the point where they are nonexistent. They are invisible. They are not seen. (Or like, something to that effect. I tell you though, it’s bloody brilliant).
So I think that’s rather the point really. You have two iconic characters, albeit supporting bit characters practically, and I think a lot of our minds automatically get drawn to wanting to put them together because of the sheer lack of queer couples. People have been doing it for years from Frodo and Sam, to Harry Potter and Draco (or Ron I guess), to Sherlock and Watson (even before the Benedict Cumberbatch show. Also as an aside let’s not get into how obsessed people got about Sherlock Holmes back in the day when those books were first published. The obsession was the reason Doyle killed the character off the in first place, then after getting letters from people telling him they were literally going to kill themselves, the reasons why he resurrected him again. Don’t tell us that modern day nerds are weird and obsessive. We’ve ALWAYS been like this).
It’s for this reason why queer representation is so god damn important. Why I still support the idea of Good Omens season 3. Because regardless of how the characters were originally intending to be represented in the book, it’s very clear now that they are so much more than “Just friends”. And we NEED that! Whether you subscribe to the idea that they will be physically intimate with each other, the fact remains is they love each other. They love each other immensely. And that comes from years of Terry Pratchett (and the other guy) accepting that canon and telling fans that it’s true. Because Michael Sheen made a choice and held a belief about how he saw his character and then David Tennant followed suit. That literally tens of thousands of fanfiction writers have decided the same.
So that’s my take. I don’t think loving each other was ever intended that way in the book, but in the last 35 years their story has morphed into the ineffable husbands that we now know.
What are your thoughts? Have I rambled on long enough to make any sense? Do you agree? Have I missed something completely obvious and gotten it all wrong? Keen to hear thoughts.

ok some things i LIKED about tua 4 since we all have talked exclusively about what we hated (SPOILERS AHEAD):
idc what anyone says the baby shark bit was iconic every time it came on i jammed
klaus had a comic book storyline from hotel oblivion!! let’s go source material!!
diego and luther being himbos
allison and klaus friendship
the entire birthday party scene was hilarious and fun and so THEM ok
the road trip scene that was in the trailer such iconic sibling goofy clownery they’re fucking idiots
klaus. he was in it. any time i get to see my little freak is time well spent.
incredibly unpopular opinion but i liked the ending i think they need an end from the cycle of apocalypses and suffering like they deserve a rest they’ve earned it and it was sweet that they all went together and the “i love you guys………but you’re all such fucking assholes” and then “fuck you” and everyone laughing and crying and THEN AND THEN ALL THE CHARACTERS FROM THE VARIOUS SEASONS BEING AT THE END i was SOBBING
klaus having a podcast of himself giving himself affirmations like that’s so funny
they actually gave somewhat of a shit about each other like diego was so DAD my babies have grown up but not too much they’re still fucking toddlers
lila is so pretty and funny and hot and unhinged she means so much to me
lila and klaus friendship!! lila and allison!! bonding!!
gene and jean were SUCH classic umbrella academy characters. loved them.
viktor gets all the pussy
i cannot stress how much all of the group scenes were so fucking sibling i love them ok
NO LUTHER AND ALLISON INCEST THANK FUCK
THUNDERBOLT THE GHOST DOG <3<3<3
klaus and claire oh my god i love uncle klaus so much and he loves her so much
seeing sober klaus and how hard he tried and then the heartbreak when that went away because he’s KLAUS he’s gerard way’s trauma self insert. as much as i want klaus to be safe and content and free from all this bullshit it was just so consistent and i can appreciate that. and i cried like a little bitch it was truly devastating but it was just sooooo klaus. also getting to see him make it incredibly clear that he didn’t want his powers back—him being the ONLY ONE who didn’t want his powers back—was important to me idk. and he was LOVED like he has a family!! he is cared for!! ahhHHHHHH!! love it
claire was great and getting to see her and allison and their tumultuous relationship and their love for each other after all of these seasons of allison looking for her and just wanting to be with her daughter
klaus got dave’s dog tags <3
more flashbacks to brellie kids!!
getting answers to some series-long mysteries
the underground subway system between timelines was so fucking cool and mindfucky 100/10
klaus’s look being reminiscent of s1 sorry that was my favourite klaus look ok
their sort of evolved powers when they got them back
so many good one liners and comedic scenes
ben being a crypto bro is SO FUNNY
will add stuff as i think of it. this is incredibly out of character for me i am an eternal pessimist but i did enjoy s4 (mostly because, as an eternal pessimist, my expectations are always low) so here we are.

Wolverine getting some of Deadpool's 4th wall awareness because of the matter and antimatter ordeal
Featuring: @existentialgaybirdnerd @steriotypicaloutlaw
(x)
More for @castielsprostate
Bird: Mind to mind communication using the voices even far apart
Ok ok but Logan who can now truly understand Wade and everyone is super confused by it. Also (I am convinced at least Vanessa thinks he's absolutely onto something so this just confirms it for her) But others start thinking Wade may not be completely insane possibly
On the other hand they now think Logan is insane as well which is just as funny.
But all of the small things that would change. Chef's kiss
Bird: They use the voices as a sort of comm link too, Logan can keep up with wade’s style of thinking now and can even finish his thoughts with him
But imagine everyone's reactions to the seamless communication between them. As well as Logan now talking into thin air like Wade does. It definitely gets people thinking
Ethan:
Now I'm just imagining a scenario where they're talking to Colossus or someone else and it's just
W- "Yeah, sometimes we finish each-"
L- other's sentences. It's really not"
W- "that big of a deal... And you were supposed to say sandwiches, we talked about this Peanut." Wolverine rolls his eyes and lovingly shakes his head.
(Bold is them both talking at the same time)
Bird: Logan would chime in with the wrong words sometimes specifically to fuck with Wade, and then when they’re both pissed they speak at the same time and in the same register and it gets creepy
Wade and Logan having conversations that make absolutely NO sense to anyone besides them. The boxes asking things or a conversation about other impossible things that others wouldn't know
Bird: There’s an entire four way conversation and the outsiders are only getting half of it lol
Also something that always gets me about characters being self aware is the implied idea nothing they do matters or it would hurt the others that are unaware. Well maybe more so the latter point. Because it doesn't matter if it's not technically real it's real to them so I just never like that argument. All to say I think Logan really just doesn't give a shit he isn't technically real
Bird: Oh absolutely not, Logan would have his first 4th wall break and just raise an eyebrow and look away and slowly as they happen more and more on purpose he does things to fuck with the audience
Wade talks to the audience to share a joke Logan talks to the audience to insult/mock them. Surprisingly it makes all the difference
Bird: Logan freaks people out by looking into the distance and spitting a kind of joking insult and then walking away
It also somehow convinces people that it's still definitely the same wolverine and he hasn't completely lost his mind
Bird: When people start getting more suspicious of him he’ll insult something and stalk off
Vanessa is elsewhere taking a victory lap. Also Laura is very confused but also falls into the they are onto something club. I feel like Al ABSOLUTELY believes they are onto something
Bird: Laura likes to try to spot what they’re talking to, looking in the vague directions they’re looking at. Al will simply hold out a hand to one of them, go “point me” and flips off whatever audience they’re talking to now
Al is to old and has seen (or not seen) too much and specifically lived with Wade long enough to know
A) He isn't insane
B) He's almost always right
C) he knows things he really shouldn't
Bird: And when Logan starts doing the same stuff and insulting the air instead of just joking with it, she starts asking to flip off who Logan is talking to and he’s all too happy to point her
And once they explain exactly what happens she's just like oh yeah that makes sense. She doesn't need more context
ALSO This makes them both anchor beings but specifically one anchor being. They merged they now have to both be there for it to continue to exist
What if this was the first time it has ever happened in the TVA want to just study them because how did you manage this??
I read a fic that mentioned this also almost seem to increase their powers slightly and I love that idea as well
Bird: Kind of combines them, makes the healing faster and makes them harder to hurt
It's barely noticeable but it's just enough to make them even worse to deal with. They become the bane of everyone's existence because they are now truly unstoppable
Also the X-Men are trying to figure out exactly what happened. It isn't working It can't really be explained well because Wade is just kind of beyond exclamation
Logan is just vibing now while being more immortal than ever and having a whole new world opened up to him. I imagine it gets to the point where he's learning more and more and he just starts pointing randomly at some of the people that come across and saying actor's names and Wade is just beside him nodding enthusiastically and praising him

What are your thoughts on some of the more popular ships? Fanon and canon. For example superbat, bruce x harvey dent, tim x kon, dick x babs, dick x kory, jay x roy, steph x cass, damian x jon, pennywaynes,...
I’ll list them out
Superbat (Clark/Bruce): I find this ok, but personally, I like it when the trinity acts more like siblings, so it’s not my favorite. 5/10
BruHarvey: lovers to enemies? The angst? Amazing. 8/10
Dickbabs: idk. It feels kinda boring to me. Mainly because DC ruined both of their characters in order for them to be together. 4/10
DicKori: they’re soulmates. Idk what to tell you. And maybe you can tell how biased I am. Right now, they are the opitome of right person wrong time. 10/10
Jayroy: I don’t like this ship. It reduces Roy’s character down to a prop, the age gap feels kinda icky and I personally believe in Aro/Ace Jason Todd. 1/10
Superbat (Kon/Tim): the only version of superbat I truly ship. Reluctant friends, to besties, to flirty friendship, to a game of cat and mouse on if that taunt was real or if they were just fooling around? 10/10
DamiJon: I think their age gap never works in their favor. Either Damian’s too old or Jon’s too old, and it makes me feel wrong. And in more recent comics, they’ve been acting much more like siblings than friends who maybe possibly have chemistry with each other. But I do think if you wanted to go the romance route, it could be double unrequited love that was never expressed. Like a 10yr old Jon had a crush on a 13 yr old Damian. Jon left for almost a decade and comes back, looses feelings for Damian, but a 14yr old Damian has feelings for an 18 yr old Jon, but it never works out. 5/10. Just like their Dads
PENNYWAYNESSSS: 100000000/10. Like are you kidding me, this is the best ship ever and I love it so much.
Honorable mentions:
BruTalia: 10/10. My favorite Bruce ship.
Brulina: 8/10. I like it… but I feel like it wouldn’t work out because Selina would get overwhelmed by the amount of wealth Bruce has. Like she thinks it’s what she wants, but it’s too much for her
Birdflash (Dick/Wally): 8/10. I see the appeal, they’re best friends with so much chemistry, but I feel like they would never date bc they value their friendship more and they’re both super busy
JayKyle: it’s the only Jason ship I like, but only because I want it to be one sided, with Kyle failing to flirt with Jason and Jason is completely oblivious and actually just hates Kyle but Kyle thinks Jason’s playing hard to get. (Kyles flirting is just arguing with Jason, so that’s why Jason never gets the hint) 7/10 +300 bc of hillarity
StephTim: I don’t like this ship because Stephanie deserves so much better, and Tim seems like the type to mansplain every little thing, and it would drive Steph up a wall. I also don’t like the notion that they would be friends after they break up. 3/10 bc they had that piano scene
DamiRae: 2/10. Garchel is a better ship, and I feel like their personalities are too similar.
Flatline/Damian: I love them. I think they’re cute, but I don’t see it lasting long. 4/10
StephCass: 9/10. No more needs to be said. But I won’t ever officially write them as being together within a fic bc Steph’s character deserves to be her own, rather than a lover of a Batfam member, and Cass has her own things to deal with

whats your favorite fic ever. or a few if you cant pick just one (preferably fall out boy but i'm curious of any answer you may have)
OOOO ok so i am much more of a one shot reader but a few of my faves are:
@rosiedoestumblr‘s (who you might recognize as the writer of The World’s Not Waiting, which i will read! one day!) capture the phrases! (joe/patrick, T). its so good and cute and i adore the characterizations. please read it.
heyginger’s combinatorics (joe/patrick, M) is a longer one but its an absolute favorite! so so good. i couldn’t put it down truly, i had to keep reading what those idiots were up to.
of course i’d be an idiot to exclude my darling kelci @josephtrohman’s all the dogs are missing masters (joe/patrick, E) and @urcrashing’s fuck what fucks you (up) (joe/patrick, E). kelci has a bunch of joetrick fics to comb thru but i do believe this is her magnum opus. everything urcrashing writes is incredible. the relationship dynamics and character studies in his fics are so incredibly engaging.
i also might as well recommend @pissboypete‘s we have to take our clothes off (to have a good time) (travie/patrick, E). im not gonna mince words . its hot as fuck. go into the lesbian travtrick. when is it my turn.
unfortunately i don’t have much p2 to recommend because largely my p2 bookmarks are. well. they’re bookmarked for Personal reasons . you get it. BUT outside of that i absolutely adore @buildarocketboy’s the world so close (and i’m halfway to it) (pete/patrick, M), their tangled au from last years bandom summer blowout! im gonna be honest i read it when i was stoned BUT it was so fun and entertaining. easily some of the most fun ive had reading a fic.
some miscellaneous.. items. i enjoy are @cryptophasiac’s i don’t need your roses/i like men on their knees (william/pete, E) (the clandestine choker. trust me.), airgiodslv’s highway lines and interstate signs (travie/william, E) (i consider this to be The treckett fic.), sadrobotboy’s i’m alright in bed (but i’m better with a flip phone) (pete/ryan, E) (…trust me), hearingvoicesagain’s it's only right to think about the girl you love and hold her tight (ray/gerard, E) (the silk nightie gender fic)
…this is way more than a few. and if you made it this far you might as well check out my o sorceress, o misery, o hatred! (pete/ryan with past and discussed pete/ashlee, pete/patrick, and ryan/brendon, M) (my no-panic, hiatus, infidelity, clairvoyance fic.), just tripped and fell into (her) bed (joe/patrick, E) (guitarist yuri that god punished me for), and playthings and incense (travie/william, E) (16c!treckett. horrible men* having 4d chess sex)
there are so so many im absolutely missing bc this got. SO. away from me so im cutting myself off. happy reading!!! 📖🦭

collected thoughts on the creloise matter (Big And Detailed Spoilers Ahead):
if it’s dual character assassination, it’s dual character assassination and irredeemable and frankly uninteresting and unfortunately the show becomes unwatchable for me personally. if it’s purposeful setup? it’s bloody brilliant. i mean it could actually be bloody brilliant. there are a few lines that feel very purposeful: pen’s “did you ever truly like her?” and the moment with cress and her mother when cress protests being cruel to the btons. both of which come after the creloise breakup and, you know, the uhhhh cessation of scenes together. creloise was dead. there was no reason to continue to examine the corpse. unless it wasn’t truly dead. ok, so there is now incredible potential in the CreloiseSituation(tm).
they hate each other. perfect! cressida was suffering all season and eloise was a truly terrible friend - i mean, comically selfish and villainous - that is to say, cressida’s actions (antagonistic as they were) were explained and justified within the narrative and eloise’s were not. ok! that’s fine. in the past, cress has been the unjustifiably cruel one. if anything, they are now on equal footing in terms of illogically hurting each other. so, they hate each other. which just means their growing back together could be that much more satisfying.
eloise’s choices didn’t make sense. they just…don’t. if her arc this season was to show her growth separate from pen, and it ends with nothing mattering to her but pen, it’s just nonsensical. (dont get me wrong- i’m glad they made up! their friendship is a core pillar of the show! but taking a season of development apart and introducing new dynamics into eloise’s life only to end her precisely where she was in season ONE is just…huh??) that is, unless elosie’s decisions don’t make sense YET. unless the point of her abandonment of a friend IS the abandonment. unless this is precisely the base a following season would need to portray el from a starting position of moral inferiority- a facet of her character not yet explored.
creloise both out of mayfair now. coincidence? well…maybe! i guess! but also, outside the set and setting of society. idk, that just screams landscape of possibility to me.
they’re both on the cusp of substantial development! cressida at rrrrock bottom and eloise striving to find experience and purpose. we’ve never seen cress this low and tortured or el this alone and unsure. idk. parallels.
nothing that made us love them so much in the first place has changed. they’re still mirrors. they’re still unflinchingly honest with each other - often the only ones who are. they’re still (deliciously) (occasionally) mean. the foundations are still there. and tbh, if all of this was purposeful, there is SO much conflict and strife between them that i actually really love it. the angst! the tension! the possible banter! eloise abandoned cress at the worst possible time in her life and cress betrayed eloise (out of desperation but facts are facts) and neither of them got an explanation. and for a summer and a season they were very much alone together and enjoying each other and the betrayals sting because the friendship mattered in the first place. and that broken dynamic is just. so yummy. and the hate is there because the embarrassment is there and the embarrassment is there because….i liked you. and you burned me. and i cant believe i was stupid enough to like you. but i did like you, i did.
also, i’m sure the showrunners were understandably wary about how the audience would react to cressida this season. up until now, she’s been a glorified extra; the personality-less stereotype of the loveless, callous debutante bridgerton’s grand love stories exist to subvert. in s1 she was a joke (daphne and simon laughing about her scripted flirting) and in s2 she was the hopeless and petty mean girl. there was no reason for the audience to like her, because she was hardly a character and certainly not a person. i imagine suddenly linking her to everyone’s fan favorite eloise was seen as a huge risk— in case of a negative reaction, cress could hardly be established as a romantic prospect as well, possibly guaranteeing a large portion of screentime to someone the audiences don’t even like. creators obviously shouldn’t feel the urge to cater to an audience’s whims of how they think a story should go - this would be very bad!! - but i do think the extreme outpouring of appreciation for cress this season might enable the writers to utilize her more in the future. she’s a real character now with depth and her story has established loyalty in fans- narratively there is freedom there for some satisfying payoffs.
all this to say, this season reduced my expectations to not quite zero, but somewhere around one. the finale was crowded and unfocused and more than a few things just did not make sense and the queer rep felt very sudden and trite - for shock value, practically - and we were forced to watch creloise hacked to pieces….but, i maintain, if it was all purposeful….idk. i personally don’t think all hope is lost.

IS RHYSAND MORALLY GREY?
OK, let’s get into it, because this idea that Rhysand is sooo morally grey? Yeah, not buying it. Let’s be real—he’s not a morally grey character, he’s just framed in a way that gives him a pass for a lot of his questionable actions. When you actually break it down, Rhysand is pretty black and white, but the narrative does a fantastic job of dressing him up as “complex” to make readers feel like his actions are more nuanced than they really are. Spoiler: they’re not.
His Actions Are Consistently Justified by “Good Intentions”
One of the biggest indicators that Rhysand isn’t actually morally grey is how everything he does, no matter how manipulative or controlling, is framed as being for the greater good. His decisions, whether it’s drugging Feyre or making her wear revealing outfits under the mountain, are always given this neat little justification. “He was protecting her,” “He had no choice,” “He was trying to outwit Amarantha.” A morally grey character wrestles with the consequences of their actions—Rhysand doesn’t. We’re told, over and over again, that what he did was necessary, and that alone is supposed to excuse him from criticism. That’s not moral ambiguity—that’s convenient narrative framing.
He’s Always Positioned as the Hero:
Let’s not pretend like Rhysand is ever in real moral conflict. His choices are presented as tough but necessary, and we’re rarely, if ever, given a moment where he actually grapples with the darker sides of those choices. Even when he makes questionable decisions, we’re spoon-fed reasons to believe he’s ultimately in the right. That’s not grey. That’s just a hero with a darker aesthetic. Compare him to actual morally grey characters who sit in their discomfort, who make selfish choices or hurt people without always having noble intentions behind it. Rhysand? Nah, he’s just the guy who always ends up looking like the hero, even when his actions should be called out.
His Morality Never Comes Into Question:
A true morally grey character is someone whose actions challenge not only the other characters in the story, but the readers too. We should be asking ourselves, “Is this person really doing the right thing? Should I be supporting this?” But with Rhysand? There’s never any real doubt. Even when he manipulates or controls others, we’re reassured that it’s all part of some grand, noble plan. His friends back him, Feyre forgives him, and the narrative never holds him accountable in a meaningful way. There’s no real complexity here, just a character who gets away with being controlling because the plot tells us to forgive him.
Everything Bad He Does Is Framed as a Sacrifice:
Rhysand is never portrayed as doing bad things because he wants to, or because he’s selfish, or because he’s flawed in a way. It’s always framed as him making a sacrifice for the greater good. He does bad things, sure—but the narrative works overtime to show us that he had to do them. When you’re constantly being told that a character’s questionable choices are out of necessity, you’re not being shown a morally grey character—you’re being shown a hero who occasionally has to get his hands dirty. Big difference.
He Doesn’t Struggle With His Decisions:
What makes a morally grey character truly compelling is when they struggle with their own decisions, when they recognize that they’ve hurt people or crossed a line, and they aren’t sure how to feel about it. But Rhysand? He’s remarkably comfortable with all of his decisions. He doesn’t dwell on whether or not what he did under the mountain was wrong; in fact, he hardly ever reflects on it at all. It’s presented as a burden, sure, but it’s a burden that’s neatly tied up with a bow: he did what he had to, end of story. He’s too comfortable in his righteousness to ever really be morally grey.
He’s Too Perfectly Framed as a Savior:
Let’s be real, Rhysand’s character arc is too neat and too perfectly framed as “Feyre’s savior” for him to be truly morally ambiguous. Every time he’s at risk of being seen as a villain, the narrative bends over backwards to remind us that he’s actually the one who saved Feyre, saved Prythian, saved everyone, really. A morally grey character wouldn’t be positioned so neatly as the savior figure. They’d be somewhere in between—someone whose actions could be seen as selfish or harmful, even if they had noble intentions. Rhysand, on the other hand, is always one step away from being a full-on white knight, cloaked in black and purple.
The Lack of Consequences
A true morally grey character faces the consequences of their actions, both externally and internally. But Rhysand? He rarely, if ever, suffers real consequences for the morally dubious things he’s done. Everyone either forgives him, rationalizes his behavior, or never holds him accountable in the first place. Where’s the moral ambiguity if there’s no fallout? If the narrative is bending over backward to redeem or justify every action, then there’s no real grey area—it’s just a hero getting away with questionable behavior.
In conclusion, Rhysand isn’t morally grey—he’s a hero painted with darker shades, but still a hero through and through. The narrative bends over backwards to excuse his actions, frame him as the savior, and justify all the harm he’s done as “necessary sacrifices.” There’s nothing morally grey about that; it’s just a case of good PR for a character whose dark side is polished up so much that it doesn’t even feel like a flaw anymore. If you want morally grey, look elsewhere—Rhysand is just a dressed-up hero, no matter how much the fandom wants to pretend otherwise.

I just started watching White Collar for the first time and a realization about most male written and directed media smacked me DIRECTLY in the face which is that SO MUCH media written by a for men is genuinely just male nerd self insert, non-canon compliant, AU fan fiction??????
Like them writing and creating stories is just “ok so these guys are soooo smooth and well dressed and women just flock to them at every turn and they can get away with anything and everyone believes and supports them when they do mess up and everyone thinks they’re sooooo brilliant”
This media isn’t just portraying women “for the male gaze” it’s EVERYTHING. Everything in these stories is supporting and uplifting mens’ delusions about who they are, how they’re perceived, and how they should expect to be treated. Which is incredibly ironic because anytime media portrays women or the world in the female gaze in a more “in my ideal world things would be like this” instead of portraying us as nothing but weak, broken, unloved, traumatized, victims OR one dimensional sex symbols with no needs or emotions they’re screaming, crying, throwing up about how stupid and unrealistic the story is….
This explains SO MUCH about how male characters are handled in shows like Veronica Mars and Buffy. Even though they’re shows staring women all the “good guys” get the delusional self insert, y/n, AU fan fic treatment (Buffy still wants Angel in season 3 and Riley in season 6 even after everything they did and Xander is CONSTANTLY forgiven for all the atrocious shit he says and does and is wanted by all women besides Buffy. Veronica forgiving Duncan and getting back together with him and even CONSIDERING Piz could truly only be born from men being delusional AS FUCK. Writing how they want men to be treated by women rather than being based in reality and the woman having even an ounce of self respect.)
Which is why the “bad boys”, Logan and Spike are such better characters. They’re so much more realistic, they get held accountable by the women in their lives, have better growth and are just way more appealing and attractive because they’re not the walking embodiment of what MEN want men to be treated and act like.
Oh god this feels like such cursed knowledge to have like it’s important to see this media for what it really is but now watching it feels that much yuckier like finding the porn of someone you DO NOT LIKE but like their emotional porn “this is what life would be like in my fantasies” and they’re the fantasies of the grossest men alive 😭😭😭😭😭
Also it shows their emotional maturity like all of these things are what 13 year old boys fantasize about not actual mature, grown men….
Also just realized this is why the Star Wars sequels were so hated. It wasn’t just Rey being powerful and loved by her found family and Kylo. It was that the movies showed the reality of men like Kylo. They destroyed the male fantasy Darth Vader created. They aren’t super cool, powerful badasses. They’re extremely sad, broken, temper tantrum throwing lost little boys who just want love and acceptance but have lost the ability to accept it because of the dark side (aka the patriarchy) which is the reality and that made me SOOOOO ANGRY lololololololol and this is why Joss Whedon THOUGHT making Spike into a sad pathetic mama’s boy of a poet would make the audience not like him because that DOES work on misogynistic men who enjoy the male gaze but does NOT work and only humanizes and makes Spike even more complex and lovable to the female gaze 💀💀💀💀 oh good lord

Hi love . Can I request a pedro × reader . Where they are trying to get into the crowd and pedro is being protective over the reader?
AN: I hope this meets your standards!! It was fun to write, I love protective!Pedro.
The word that utterly and truly encapsulated Pedro was “kind.”
He was kind to fans, kind to passersby, kind to your friends, kind to your family, kind to you.
He was so humble, so new at being recognizable, and he had no problem when it came to stopping for a chat with kids who recognized him as Din, or older folks to stopped to stare at Oberyn Martell.
Your husband was the kindest soul you had ever met; gentle and caring, communicative, unbelievably attractive, so on and so forth. Yes, Pedro was so sweet to every soul he encountered.
With one exception.
Paparazzi swarmed you as you exited the car; your feet were sore, your eyelids drooped, and you clung to Pedro’s arm. Your desperation to get to your hotel room and take off that goddamn dress was heightened as cameras flashed in your face and people yelled at you, egging you on in hopes of a response.
It was a sorry condition, that of the paparazzo: You wondered if the people screaming at you from behind cameras, begging for you to tell them every intimate detail of your life with Pedro, had any form of personal life. Did they have families? Did they have friends? Did they have any form of personal life that would make them get the hell out of your face?
Apparently not.
“You ok?” Pedro shook you off his arm, sliding his hand down and around your waist.
“Fuckin’ hate these people.” You complained. He smiled down at you in silent agreement.
“Pedro! What’s she like in bed!” Someone yelled between flashes, and you felt yourself go scarlet. Pedro stayed quiet, keeping his full attention towards you.
You were beyond the need to hide from paparazzi at this point in your relationship, and, quite frankly, there was never a time either of you had felt like hiding each other, anyway. But the one thing the two of you had always stuck to, had assured each other of, was keeping the personal, personal.
While there was the yelling, the begging for your response to questions about Pedro’s “manhood” and what the two of you planned to get up to on your night out, there was also the shoving. The tidal wave of photographers attempting to get closest to you, to snap the best picture, to have you caught off-guard. That, you thought, was the worst part.
There were surges that made you trip over your already unsteady feet, people pushing closer to you, invading the centimeter of personal space you had left to ask you the “hard-hitting” questions and take intense close-ups.
You felt Pedro tense every time it happened. His arm pulled you closer to him, hand gripping you tighter. His other arm came up and around you, as if to shield you from any danger, sacrificing his own space and comfort.
You wondered if this is what it was like for people in zombie movies, when the herd closes in, and the characters know that they’re done for—food for a brainless population.
Pedro persisted, marching through the crowd little-by-little, step-by-step, holding you the whole way to the door, keeping his eyes on you as best he could as he side-stepped cameras and their handlers. At long last, Pedro helped you over the threshold of the hotel lobby. You felt his grip on you ease up, although his hands stayed where they were on your side.
“Pedro! Tell us about your night out!” A photographer only a foot from your husband yelled as loud as he could, finally gaining at least an ounce of Pedro’s attention.
Pedro looked at him, staring directly into the paparazzo’s eyes, and put on a smile.
“No,” he was calm, “no, I don’t think I will.” He wiped off his own smile as he himself stepped into the lobby, still holding you as you made your way to the elevator and into your room. Few words were exchanged between the two of you as you basked in the silence after your deafening encounter with all the snapping cameras.
He was unzipping your dress, tie loose around his neck and button halfway undone, when you spoke up.
“You’re sweet. Sticking up for me like that.” Pedro chuckled, placing a kiss on the back of your head as he helped you step out of your dress.
“Yeah?” He spun you to face him, holding you close in the stillness of the room.
“Yeah,” you whispered, “sweet.”
“Glad you think so. I’m sure they don’t.” He didn’t have to say who he was talking about, you knew, still hearing the commotion outside.
“Doesn’t matter.” You slipped the tie off from around his neck, throwing it next to your long-abandoned shoes. “So kind.” You laced your fingers in his hair, your other hand perching on his cheek, stroking your thumb over his face as he leaned into your touch. He pulled you into his chest, letting you rest your arms on his shoulders.
“I try to be nice to everybody.” He stroked your hair, dropping his head on top of yours and swaying slightly with you in his arms. “But you’re really the only one that matters.”

i think rykard had a tendency to disregard formality except as Ritual or as Political Ambition, like as just a headcanon. the way he marries tanith and deeply adores and confides in her, when a lot of her descriptions emphasize the potential gulf in social power between them (drawing on a lot of tropes heavily associated with the character of Lowborn Sex Worker Consort) and how he held a disregard for the way the Golden Order handles itself (creating a strict orderly hierarchy of power between its peoples and appropriate mannerisms between one class and another (see the pages and how kenneth haight talks)) and how he has a studious scholalry streak from his archeology at mt gelmir and his sorceries, i can see him as being this larger than life figure who takes the formality inherent to ritual worship and power and really pushes that to its limit to get the kost bang for his buck, just going all in, which builds up this idea of a figure out of legend, and then its immediately contrasted by a frank, casual manner of speaking outside of those circumstances, a way where he holds himself as a singularly powerful lord but despite that hes easy to talk to, and he values the opinions and ideas of those who would normally be his "lessers" or "beneath him" and takes them seriously and treats them with respect
a lord who takes counsel from prince and pauper alike, who married a dancer, who speaks bluntly and without shame but encourages others to do so as well, who embraces the blasphemous and heretical such that you never feel you have to hide anything from him, but when he conducts a ceremony for the great serpent its like the whole world stops to bend its ear for the way he channels such power and authority that you cant help but believe that hes truly something different from all of you, and yet despite this you speak freely to him anyways. such a man could inspire ruthless loyalty to the bitter end with ease, throughout the most horrible of wars, all until it hits that critical breaking point of the serpent, and even then some still cant bring themselves to break away from him
ok theres ABSOLUTELY a theme of repudiating the conventions of nobility and class with Rykard… I think his belief system is based on the idea that the gods are no better than mortals, and they have no inherent divine right to rule: “When Rykard turned to heresy, taking by force became the rule. The gods were no different, after all.” The gods “take by force” just like any common mortal tyrant, so why should we accept that they have an inherent authority over us? There’s this theme of seizing one’s own fate and taking power for oneself — like Bernahl calling out to the Greater Will directly that “we refuse to become your pawns” — which I think would be really inspiring to like, a common soldier who’s felt disrespected and taken for granted all their life. Though Rykard is as noble as they come, he too is fighting against a suffocating Order. Tanith explicitly likens the plight of ordinary Tarnished to the Shardbearers… they’re all made to “scurry about, fighting over what miserly scraps they allow us.”
Speaking of Tanith, Rykard making her his consort is such a deliberate political statement? Lords like Kenneth Haight would no doubt look down on her because of her commoner foreigner background, like he even calls Godrick, a demigod, a “country bumpkin!” Marrying Tanith instead of someone from Erdtree nobility shows that Rykard doesn’t care at all about established class structure… why is Tanith any less worthy than an Erdtree noble? I think Tanith is speaking from experience when she says this about Rya: “Besides, no-one should be blamed for their heritage. Think about it. We are resisting the ways of the Erdtree itself. What matters one's lineage in such a crisis.”
basically one of Rykard’s blasphemous beliefs is that the gods are only gods because they are strong enough to stay in power and keep people under their control. he would have a society where every person is the master of their own fate. at least I think that’s what his followers thought before he fed himself to a serpent god and started eating people

Tuesday, again.
It’s Tuesday again and your time in Chicago has come to an end. Carmy had stayed the night with you at your airbnb. But morning came, and he left early to start his morning at the restaurant. Truthfully, he just hadn’t wanted to watch you pack – couldn’t get out of there fast enough when you’d opened your suitcase. You noticed how much it bothered him, letting him know that you’d stop by the restaurant before heading to the airport.
And that was that. You’d gone your separate ways before, and you’d go your separate ways again – just for a little bit. And it wouldn't be like last the last time. It’s bittersweet – leaving today – but you keep reminding yourself of the conversation you’d had yesterday about the future of your relationship. You wanted to be with him, and Carmy wanted to be with you. The rest, you’d figure out as you go.
Your boyfriend.
It felt strange – even if he’d basically already been your unofficial platonic boyfriend back in New York. Adding a title to it was a whole other ball game.
New.
Never did you think, as you were preparing for this trip, that you’d return back home with Carmy as yours. You thought maybe you’d talk about what happened -- smooth things over -- but that would be that, and you’d go back to being friends. After this week, you were starting to believe you were never supposed to be just friends.
You had a feeling none of your friends would be surprised when you shared the news – not in the least.
You finish packing up your things, double checking that you haven’t left anything behind before heading to the restaurant. It’s about thirty minutes to lunch service, and since they’re not open just yet, you enter through the back door one last time for what feels like could be a while.
And there it is again: that bittersweet feeling.
“Chef!” Tina says, her eyes lighting up as she sees you. “You headin’ out today?”
“Hey, T,” you reply. “Yeah, I’m heading to the airport after this. Just wanted to stop by before I go.”
“Well you better come back soon,” she says almost as if it’s a threat, and you laugh in response.
“Of course.”
“There she is!” Marcus hollers across the kitchen, as soon as he spots you. “Damn. What am I gonna do with you?”
“Uh… keep doin’ what you’re doing and kill it?” you reply, eliciting a proud smile from him.
“Seriously. This last week… I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you,” he says, his gratitude evident in his voice.
“No, thank you, Marcus,” you answer, genuinely. “I haven’t felt this inspired in… well a while. I want to be kept up on all your new flavor pairings. Just remember. I’m only a text away.”
“Yes, chef,” he replies, moving in to give you a hug.
He wraps his arms around you and you hug him back. Boy, is it bittersweet. How, in one week, have you gotten so attached?
“Hey! I want in!” another voice chimes in, as you and Marcus’ hug comes to an end.
“Syd!”
You smile, greeting Sydney with a hug – a hello goodbye kind of hug.
“You better come visit me in New York,” you insist. You’re not sure how long you’ll be there, but you say it anyways, just in case it’s a while.
You watch as Sydney and Marcus exchange glaces.
“What?”
“Nothin’, chef,” Marcus answers, almost too quickly.
Sydney shrugs, “I don’t know. Just uh, wondering how long you’ll be there for.” She’s prodding and she knows it. You decide not to ask what she means by it.
“Well, if it ends up being longer… than I expect, you better come up,” you clarify.
“Okay, yes. I definitely will,” Sydney agrees with a nod, before pulling you in for one more hug.
“Hey, cousin said you’re headin’ out so Ebra’s made you a sandwich for the trip, babe. We’ll see ya around soon,” Richie greets, interrupting your moment with Sydney and Marcus.
Richie, whose affection seems to catch you off guard, slings an arm around you, handing you the sandwich that Ebraheim has so kindly wrapped up for you.
“Cousin!” Richie shouts, in search of Carmy.
“Jesus Christ, it’s ten in the morning. Are we already starting the yelling this early or-?” Carmy calls back to him. He bursts through the doors from where he’s been fixing something up in the front of house dining area. He stops as soon as he sees you.
“Hey.”
“Hey yourself,” you reply, taking in the image of his unruly curls, white t-shirt, and blue apron you've gotten so used to over the last few days.
It’s almost as if everyone else but Richie tries to make themselves as busy as possible – to give you two a chance to say goodbye. You can hear Marcus and Sydney making themselves scarce as Angel and Manny turn the sink water back on.
“I just uh-, wanted to stop by before heading to the airport,” you say, unsure of just how much everyone else knows about you and Carmy’s current relationship. “Say goodbye to everyone.”
It’s clear that they know something’s up, but you still have your reservations about kissing him in front of everyone.
“What do you mean?" Richie asks, glaring at Carmy. "This asshat’s not takin’ you to the airport?”
Richies practically shouting for the entire kitchen to hear, causing you and Carmy both to take a breath. You exchange a ‘here we go again’ look as Richie continues on.
“What kind of-, I swear to god, cousin-.”
“Richie!” you hear Tina snap, looking up from her prep station. “Shut the fuck up and give them a minute, you old bitch.”
Richie throws his hands up, before bowing out of the conversation, leaving just you and Carmy in the middle of the walkway. You can hear Richie and Tina bickering in hushed tones over by the stove, earning a quiet laugh from you.
Your heart aches in the best way as you commit this moment to memory.
God, you're going to miss this.
“You wanna..?” Carmy asks, nodding his head in the direction of the back door.
You nod in agreement, letting him lead you back out to the alley.
And now it’s really just the two of you, and while it’s not the most romantic of backgrounds, you’re going to work with what you’ve got. Carmy seems nervous as he fidgets with the ties of his apron.
“You uh, you sure you don’t want me to take you to the airport?” Carmy asks hesitantly, thinking back to Richie’s earlier comment.
“Yeah, I’m sure,” you answer with confidence. “Besides, I’d never want to take you away from these guys. You open in a few anyway.”
He smiles, accepting your answer. It’s something he loves about you: that you get it. You understand that sometimes the food’s gotta come first.
You didn’t know why it felt so weird – so challenging, awkward, strange – to say goodbye to him. Because it wasn’t really a goodbye. And it also was and you’re not sure if you have a name for this feeling yet.
“Carm?”
“Yeah?”
Instead of answering with words, you just reach over, grabbing that beautiful head of hair of his, and you kiss him. He tastes of the cigarette he smoked on his walk to The Bear and the Altoid mint he had later in his office in anticipation of your arrival. You want to memorize each and every part of this: the way he smells, the way he tastes, the way his hands feel on you. He pulls you in, wrapping his arms around you as you continue your passionate make out – your passionate goodbye kiss – in the alleyway behind the restaurant.
Your kisses begin to slow down, and before you know it, you’re pulling away from him.
“Text me when you land, okay?” he asks, a hopeful look in his eyes.
You nod, “Yes. Yeah. I will.”
And you want to turn to go, but you can’t yet, so you add, “Thanks for inviting me out here.”
He laughs dryly, leaving one more kiss on your lips for the road.
“Thanks for coming to see me. I’ll see you soon.”
A few Tuesdays later
It takes exactly five minutes of being back in New York to realize that Chicago is where you need to be. You don’t regret asking for time to think, but you almost felt silly to worry that you wouldn’t come to this conclusion. You have to go back: to the restaurant, to purpose, to Carmy.
You let yourself think through every little detail, and in each scenario, you know that Chicago is where you’re supposed to be. It had, afterall, been everything you’d felt you were missing.
Your heart was there, and for once, you were going to let yourself follow it.
You’d just needed some time to let your head and your heart catch up – get on the same page – and wrapping things up in New York gave you that time to get clear that this was your next step.
Not that you mind letting the man you adored and some very hot sex cloud your judgment.
It takes a few weeks, but you and Carmy text every day, even on the busy days. Some days you text a lot, and some it’s just a few exchanges: a ‘good morning’ text, a ‘thinking of you,’ and a ‘goodnight’ text when he’s wrapped up at the restaurant. But it doesn’t bother you. You know what it’s like. Other days, you’re able to sneak in a phone call… maybe even a FaceTime… and if you’re really lucky, you get to talk for hours before either of you realize it’s two in the morning and you should’ve been asleep a long time ago.
People are always coming and going in New York City. It’s why it’s not hard to find a sublet for your apartment, and once you’ve set the ball in motion, it feels impossible to backtrack. After you find the subletter, you tell the restaurant that you’re not coming back and they’re not happy with your decision. You tell them you’re moving to Chicago and only a few people left on staff understand why. Your friends who know you and Carmy aren’t surprised – just as you expected – and by the end of your happy hour catch up, they’re halfway to booking you a ticket to Chicago for that night.
Your parents on the other hand are less than ecstatic. They have more questions, more hesitations, and they want to make sure you’re thinking things through. You tell them that you have, that you’ve combed through every possible scenario, and each time you come to the conclusion that this is what you have to do.
But they’re happy you’re happy. They say they’ve never seen you like this and you agree. You’ve never felt this way before either.
You’ve got to stay just a little longer – make sure you can get all your shit sold or moved. Because you’re a responsible adult even when you hate being a responsible adult. It takes a few more days to get an available U-Haul, and you’re all packed up. You’d called Carmy earlier to tell him, but he’s not answering his phone. Sydney hadn’t been in touch either, so you figured they were slammed at the restaurant.
Holy shit. This is really happening, you think to yourself.
With one foot over the ledge already, you’re off.
Wednesday, again.
You’ve set him up so well that if he blows it, you’re gonna be pissed. All he has to do is be his normal, annoying, crass self.
C’mon, Richie, you think to yourself, pleading with the gods that this goes the way you hope it will.
As you’d told him your plan, he seemed more than happy to oblige. Just rile him up a little just to make the surprise that much better. Richie wouldn’t miss out on an opportunity like that, would he? You can hear shouting coming from the kitchen, and can tell your plan has been set in motion.
“Richie, what the fuck are you talking about? They said what? Who?” Carmy asks, frustratedly.
Yesterday’s dinner service was a shitshow. It’d been slower for lunch this afternoon, and he berates himself for being naive enough to think that he could catch his breath today. The last thing he needed after yesterday was some food critic coming into his restaurant to pick apart all of their hard work.
“I don’t know, cousin,” Richie shouts back defensively, as if he has no other volume level than that one. “I don’t know if she’s a fuckin’ food critic or not but she sounded like one. Somethin’ about an overseasoned juice or whatever the fuck!” “Jus,” Carmy corrects. “It’s pronounced, ‘zjhoo,’ fucko. Not ‘juice.’ How many times do I have to tell you?”
“Yeah, yeah, fuck if I care,” Richie mutters. “All I’m saying is you should go out there and give the pompous jack hole a piece of your mind.”
“Alright, if it’s going to get you off my back, I’ll do it!” Carmy snaps, having had enough of Richie’s shouting. “Just tell me where she’s sitting so I know who to talk to.”
“At the bar. Christ,” Richie sighs, removing himself from the conversation entirely as he steps away from Carmy.
Carmy sighs in frustration. He removes his apron before hanging it on one of the wall hooks, then makes his way through the swinging doors that lead to the dining area. It’s still slow, even after the small lunch peak they’d just experienced, and there’s only one woman sitting at the bar.
You.
It’s then the Carmy realizes he’s been set up. This was all just an act to get him out here – out to the front of house. His breath catches in his throat as he sees you sitting at the bar of his restaurant. You lock eyes with him, and he’s suddenly feeling much more nervous than he previously was.
“Surprise,” is all you manage to get out, half apologetically.
He makes his way to the open side of the bar, stepping around it so that he can stand on the same side as you.
“Hey,” he says, even though he’s practically speechless.
“So uh…” he stammers nervously. Out of all the things he could say to you all he can think of is, “What’s this I hear about an overseasoned jus?”
You shrug, a devious smile on your face and a sense of mischief in your eyes, “Well I had to come up with something that’d get your attention.”
“It worked. Consider it gotten,” he nods, a blush running all the way down his neck. “Wh-, What’re you doing here?”
He doesn't mean for it to sound so abrupt, but what he really wants to ask is: what does this mean?
You wait, taking half of a beat.
“I… heard you might be hiring another pastry chef to… you know… help out around here,” you reply, nodding towards the kitchen. Carmy has no idea how you’re playing it so cool, and you’re not sure how you are either.
“I-, I’d have to talk to Marcus first,” he stammers, matter of factly. His head is spinning, and he can’t breathe, in a good way this time. He can’t believe you’re here and half expects to wake up and realize he’s only dreaming.
“Of course,” you nod in agreement.
You pause again, wondering if he’s surprised in a bad way.
“I uh… I called,” you offer up, almost as an apology.
“We’ve been slammed,” Carmy replies, taking a step closer to you. “And I passed the fuck out last night after service. I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s okay! I-, I figured…” you chuckle, beginning to explain yourself. “I just wanted you to know that-, I mean the rental company had a last minute opening and it was gonna take a few more weeks to get another a U-Haul if I didn’t-. I didn’t intend on making this like… you know this big surprise or anything…”
“... but then I saw Richie first and uh, well, I couldn’t help fucking with you a little bit.”
He laughs, shaking his head at you, “So this was a set up?”
“Oh yeah.”
You stand up, out of the bar chair, taking a step towards him. You look around, noticing that the restaurant is mostly empty, save for a couple in a booth over by the window.
“You never answered my question. About you. Being here,” Carmy starts, redirecting the conversation back to you. He doesn’t want to get his hopes up – needs you to say you’re here for good before he lets himself feel all of this excitement that’s bubbling up in his body.
“Right. I just came here to tell you that uh, I found someone to take over my lease in New York,” you start, seeing Carmy’s eyes light up.
God, you’ve missed the way he looks at you.
“And the urban garden I've been volunteering with… they got me connected with a spot here. Keep my head out of my ass,” you continue, eliciting another laugh from Carmy at your crude comment.
“Natalie’s-, she and Pete are gonna help find a place too.”
You take another step towards him.
“You talked to Natalie?” he asks, surprised.
And he, towards you.
You shrug, playfully teasing him, “She picks up her phone.”
“Right,” Carmy says shyly.
If he had picked up his phone you would’ve told him that you were coming and he’s not sure what he would have liked more: knowing ahead of time, or this surprise. Fuck it. He doesn’t care how it happened. He’s just glad he gets to have you.
“I… had a lot of time to think on the drive and-,” you tell him.
“Uh oh,” he interjects, playfully. “That’s never good.”
You shake your head with a laugh, “Will you just shut up and let me get through this?”
He concedes to you, a soft smile on his face as he waits for what you’re going to say next, as you continue your whole boombox over head, throwing stones at the window love confession thing.
“I was thinking that maybe I’d stick around for a while… get a cat or something to keep me company on the days we just can’t stand each other,” you say.
It’s not what he’s expecting to hear but he understands what you’re really saying. You want to be here. With him. You want to plant roots.
With him.
“A cat?” he questions.
“Well, yeah neither of us have time for a dog. We’re both gonna be too busy with the restaurant,” you answer, continuing this scenario you’ve got in your head.
“We?”
“We.”
Another step.
He waits for you to say more, but you both understand that anything else would be overcomplicating it. And suddenly you’re standing so close to each other that you’re grateful that there’s only two other people in this restaurant.
“Does this mean-?” he begins to ask, trailing off toward the end. He looks down at the floor, wondering why he feels so shy.
“That I packed all my shit up to move here? Yeah,” you reply, confirming his assumptions about where this was going. “When I got back, it took me about five minutes to realize that what I’ve been looking for-, I had it. For a week. Here.”
He looks back up from the floor, to you, his blue eyes staring into your soul.
You take a pause once more, mustering up all the courage in your body to say what you need to say next.
“I want to be here, Car. With you. If the offer still stands.”
He looks at you, you speechless, because he can’t believe this is real.
But this is real. You’re not dreaming, he reminds himself.
He opens his mouth to say something and all that comes out is, “You hungry?” And you’re shaking your head and laughing, hopelessly in love with the man standing mere inches away from you who can barely get out the words he needs to tell you how he feels.
“Because I’m sure you’ve had a long trip and I can-,” he continues to ramble, his face inches away from yours.
“God, I fuckin’ love you,” you blurt out, impulsively closing the gap between the two of you. You press your lips to his, giving him the most passionate kiss you’ve perhaps given anyone, and he kisses you back.
Because he loves you too.
And he never wants to let you go ever again.
Your kiss is suddenly interrupted by the sounds of voices, cheers, and a few claps, splitting the two of you apart. You both turn to find the entire staff of The Bear, crowded around the door that leads to the kitchen, and peeking out. Tina’s got a proud smile on her face, while Richie is most certainly the one clapping. Marcus is saying an ‘oh shit’ to Sydney while she’s practically squealing at the two of you.
You and Carmy exchange a look. He looks away, his face turning redder by the second, as you laugh.
“I called it! What did I say? Did I say three weeks? I think I fuckin' said three weeks." Richie cries out in celebration, his fist pumping into the air in triumph, earning a groan of disappointment from Gary.
"Pay up, fuckos!"
“Wait, what?” Carmy asks, his brows knitted together in confusion.
Sydney rolls her eyes, beginning to pull a few ten dollar bills out of her apron as Tina mutters an insult in Spanish
“You guys were-,” you start, searching the faces of your future colleagues.
“Betting on how long it would take for you to come back? Yes, chef. Yes we were,” Marcus answers, cheekily. “I said two weeks. Syd put her money on a month, but Richie said three.”
“I just meant that it’s not that easy to move! Not that you wouldn’t come back,” Sydney adds, justifying her guesstimate.
“I said she’d be back in a week,” Tina chimes in.
“It was clear to us you’d be back. We just didn’t know when,” Gary informs, leaning up against the bar.
“Well, that’s news to me,” you laugh, shooting Carmy a look that says ‘did you know about this?’
He shakes his head ‘no.’
“You two are also idiots. That was also clear to all of us,” Tina points out, earning a laugh from you and Sydney.
“Never even cleared your work station, chef,” Marcus adds, nodding back towards the kitchen. “You can uh-, come join us when you’re ready.”
You watch as Marcus disappears, back into the kitchen, hearing the sound or Richie’s more than jovial chants that he was right. Tina’s yelling at him in Spanish and Sydney’s telling Richie to shut the fuck up.
You’ve missed this.
“I uh… gotta get back to work,” Carmy says, pulling you out of your head. The blush permeating his face has spread all the way down to his neck and he's not sure how he's supposed to continue the day like this. “Gotta wrap up lunch and prep for dinner.” But he gets to do it with you, so he's gonna figure it the fuck out.
He turns to you, holding out his hand.
“You comin’ or what?”
You’re beaming as you take his hand, your heart pounding out of your chest. It feels like a beginning of something you don't have the words for, and you're very much okay with that. You're ready to throw caution to the wind and fearlessly dive in -- to take a leap -- as long as you get to do it with him too.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
the end.

Note
i see ur most recent post and obviously i have to ask abt trent
My favorite character right out the gate lets go!!
(Ok wow this got sooo long I am sorry)
Starting with my personal takes & headcanons Trent is so nonbinary to me. They give such vibes of being like “idk man I’m just existing” as well as at first thinking they just really didn’t care about gendered stuff bc society is stupid about it but then realized just how deep those feelings were. I also love just any headcanon of Trent not being cis in general. The gender queer vibes are so strong with that one. In terms of sexuality I’m really not sure? I think they’re to multiple genders but idk in what way. Bi, Pan, and Unlabeled are the ones I’m stuck between.
On a slightly more analytical note in I think in Island they are well showcased as a nice chill person but also having the capacity to stand their ground and be intimidating (that one scene with Cody).
I don’t think they’re really good with social queues and may be a bit gullible seeing how things went down with Heather. On the outside has that mysterious energy but can be a real goober when you get to know them. Insane silliness potential that was wasted in my opinion.
Crossing into the semi-headcanon but also canon implied type stuff is their neurodivergence. In TDA it’s obvious that Trent has some neurodivergent tendencies. I personally think OCD and autism. I hate the way it was handled, not because they gave Trent these traits in the first place but how they framed them as a crazy person. That treatment was definitely very damaging to Trent and most likely made them go to heavily masking, even more so than before. Being pitied so much also felt incredibly frustrating to them.
The way that Trent was launched into fame right after a messy breakup on international television definitely made things worse. They seemed like they were thriving while the band was together but in reality they were only being seen for their music and not who they really are, pointedly ignoring their neurodivergence, flaws or any wrongdoing on their part. It hurt seeing how they were treated so horribly when it came to their mental health but as soon as they started singing they were suddenly this sweet, emotional, amazing guy.
And in terms of my headcanon they were also dealing with a ton of dysphoria being seen a guy in the Drama Brothers because they were closeted. I personally think that they had only found out a couple of months before Island so they weren’t comfortable telling anybody yet. They felt like they could tell someone close like Gwen eventually but didn’t want to come out on tv so they said nothing. I think in the days between the finale and TDA Trent became afraid again not wanting to ruin things with Gwen in fear of her being upset that they wouldn’t be the cool talented boyfriend that she expected. On the Aftermath they didn’t really have anyone truly there for them only having those who pitied them or who thought they were an awful person, leaving them isolated not just about dysphoria but just their existence in general.
I do believe that between TDA and WT as well as onwards that Trent was able to build a genuine friendship with Justin, Harold, and Cody despite how messy things got with the band at times. Unintentionally they started unmasking a bit around them closer to when WT started and when they weren’t met with judgement (maybe a bit that was just genuine misunderstanding that got corrected but still) Trent was starting to more and more feel like they could be themself. (Back to more headcanony for a sec) After WT Trent came out to the three of them and was met with acceptance! From there Trent is able to progressively come out more and more from their shell and from the closet to more people!
Also hopefully patching things up and becoming friends with Gwen eventually but that’s just like a wish I have
I think I just unintentionally typed out a whole outline of what I think their life is instead of just my opinion on them in general but yeah.
Some random headcanons!!:
- (Stolen from Courtney-deserved-better) A lot of people think that Trent looks so cool and mysterious but in actuality they are usually just zoned out
- Biggest sensory issues are with sound. They’d go insane without headphones/earbuds bc the music is nice and their noise as opposed to how horribly loud life can be (Kinda projecting on this one but it makes sense for them so shhh)
- Listens to most genres but especially the ones within the general indie/alternative umbrella. A good amount of ppl think that they only listen to mainstream pop type stuff so when they’re with Trent and some darker/depressing type shit like CSH comes on from one of Trent’s playlists they are so surprised.
- Likes some of what the Drama Brothers made but a lot of their brand was pushed into them by producers and the whole band kinda hated how fake things felt at times. After WT they manage to get away from that company and the band gets a lot more creative freedom making what they want. (Also changing the band name eventually bc of Trent if we’re talking in a world with my nb headcanon. Not sure when or if Trent would publicly come out but if not before the name change then they all just make something up about rebranding)
About ships! - I personally love tons of td ships being a massive multi shipper, especially with characters that are my faves (With an exception of Raj I don’t rlly see him with anyone but Bowie). Gwent was the first ship I ever got into with Total Drama and it has a special place in my heart. It’s not my absolute favorite but I still love seeing them together and au’s where they actually work things out healthily during Action or where Action and or TD didn’t happen. I love a lot of other ones too like Trustin and Trody and a lot more! I think my favorite Trent ship may actually be Trenoah, it’s really my favorite rare pair. Ik they didn’t really interact but the POTENTIAL!! They would play off of each other so well and ahhh dude I think I’d need to make a separate post just taking about those two
And that’s the basics of my thoughts on Trent! (well maybe not the basics but trust me it’s not all that I have to say about them).
I think in the future I’ll make a post about what I think their potential backstory is bc I got carried away and didn’t rlly cover that here. @ashyjingles if you want me to @ you in that just let me know!

TGG analysis Part 1
Hi, this is part one of my analysis of the great game. In this post i’ll be highlighting moments which display Sherlock’s growing fascination with Moriarty and Moriarty’s undeniable obsession with Sherlock. I aim to (at some point) explain their dynamic beyond the romantic undertones already present in a lot of their lines. This is only an intro into my big theory - the analysis of pool scene.
*low k might be my fav ep
Sherlock’s obsession with Moriarty
Moriarty’s obsession with Sherlock
these may or may not be just shameless (intellectual) flirting
Here is what i wrote down while watching, might be a little sparse, but the important bits are all there. Also disclaimer: my formatting skills suck and i’ll be editing the post a lot post posting (now that’s a trippy sentence), because i can’t sleep at night knowing i don’t make any sense 💀
p.s. - every quote that's numbered is also provided at the end of the post (Moriarty's words said by the victims), they’re important as i think it’s Moriarty’s way of avoiding vulnerability.
There’s an explosion at Baker street. Sherlock is unharmed but gets a package. A pink phone replica. 5 pips = 5 bombs = five tests. On said phone a picture of 221C that Moriarty knew Sherlock’s seen before. in there Carl Powers’ shoes.
Sherlock gets a call (1): “Hello, sexy. I’ve sent you a little puzzle just to say hi.” Sherlock: “the curtain rises. i’ve been expecting this for some time”. He’s excited, and he’s been waiting for Moriarty to act ever since A Study In Pink.
In the lab, right before Jim comes in. “Why is Mycroft trying to bore me, when someone else is being so delightfully interesting” ((ok not to be biased but that is literally sherlockese for “i have a crush on a boy 🤭” ))
Jim walks in, Sherlock looks at him(reads him in a fraction of a second). Jim looks Sherlock up and down. No but literally how did no one notice his weird fan behaviour around Sherlock?? Molly was invisible to him and he was speaking to John while staring at Sherlock.
(Also can i just mention how Sherlock says “tinted eyelashes” when proving why he thinks Jim is gay and the picture is of his eyebrows)
Carl Powers, “it’s where i began” Sherlock’s first case - Moriarty’s first crime it's pink this time cuz this is so gay at the age of 14 (20 years ago). Tbh we don’t know if it’s Moriarty’s first crime but i just find it romantic to think so. Of course he could’ve committed that one just to get Sherlock’s attention OR his obsession with Sherlock started after that, because maybe Sherlock's involvement in that case led him to believe that they were “meant to be” rivals. Perfect opposites (i mean they’re like 80% similar but sure dude). Basically he felt personally seen by someone who had the incentive to dig deeper, beyond the standard practices of police work, someone who believes that there is more to see.
Sherlock solves the case, blogs about his findings, communicating with moriarty and making him stop the clock 3:“well done you, come and get me”. When alone Sherlock says to himself: “Elegant”.  “No, i can’t be the only person in the world that gets bored.” As one wise person has said: any emotion that is experienced by a character in private is real. (SHOUTOUT TO @asherlockstudy) This of course applies to truths as well, and here Sherlock is being as honest as possible. This line proves how much Sherlock truly needs Moriarty, someone who understands that inexplicable pain of being bored. Just by knowing that someone like that exists, Sherlock feels understood, freed from the loneliness of being estranged, from the discomfort of being a “freak”. This game is the highest form of entertainment, something that allows him to be himself and to be valued for it. But more on that in the pool scene.
Another puzzle, 8 hours. (5): “We were made for eachother Sherlock”*Sherlock smiles* and softly says “Then talk to me in your own voice”bro is cheezing after the call bro…
“Our friendly bomber. I am on fire!”(he’s having fun ☺️)
(6):“you can come and fetch me” Sherlock is smiling like crazy again.
John: “It’s all meant for you”. Sherlock: “Yes, i know 😏” !!!!! (video 1 below for the face expressions) (btw I was literally just filming my laptop so sorry for the shit quality, I just want to have proof for my yapp :DD)
Like how special one must feel to have someone be willing to kill tens or even hundreds of people just to entertain you? It’s not even about the lives to be honest, just the fact that someone is creating these personalised little puzzles. Like, isn’t that hot? This is also one of the MANY moments when John expresses his disapproval for Sherlock’s involvement in this game, mostly the giddiness about it. This will be important later on (i’m edging y’all so hard with this hinting :Ddd but i’m writing this after everything else so oops).
Sherlock is kinda defends(?) Moriarty, when Lestrade asks why is the bomber doing this. Sherlock answers *shrug* “good samaritan”, Greg is all like ‘he’s a bomber, hello?’ Sherlock: “bad samaritan 🤟😗” (Idk what's with the emojis but I just wanted to show how relaxed and goofy he was about it all). Basically, Sherlock interprets Moriarty’s “game” as a personal service, despite it being morally questionable.(ok but bro can’t stay serious, like he’s smiling all the time “[we’re dealing with] something new 😁” )
Ok now that i’m going over everything for the millionth time i noticed that this moment here was one of the worst attempts of hiding his “intellectual crush”. Sherlock isn’t big for conventional morality, and i’ll touch on that later, but this was so unserious it almost seemed like he became more comfortable in himself. He began to see that saying out of pocket or perhaps cynical stuff like that is fine, however much of a crime against “preserving the social peace of normies” it seems to be. I made that shit up, hopefully y’all get what this means :D Having someone like Moriarty allowed him to question his own role in society and how he, despite often being against succumbing to what's normal(and boring), conforms to it, to society, which further strengthens his feelings of estrangement. We're getting kafkaesque in here, boys! (sorry)
“Novel” Sherlock realised Moriarty is a consultant criminal(he organises crimes but no one has direct contact to him). When John asks (again) why Moriarty’s doing this, Sherlock can’t help but smile. “i think he wants to be distracted” *says in a breathy tone(intrigued/touched)* (WAIT I didn't know I could only put 1 video omg I literally feel 80 years old, how does Tumblr work!? *crying*) So Sherlock was staring into space, his face lit up upon realizing that him and Jim are the same, that they experience the same things and blah blah blah he looks horny in this scene I legit don't know what to even say bruh. (I'm mad that I couldn't put the video in lmaoo)
No but fr John noticed Sherlock has an intellectual crush on Moriarty and was annoyed at how entertained (and fulfilled) Sherlock was by this morally grey game.
The golem was hired to kill the astronomer guy and his friend professor because they would’ve been able to expose that the painting was a fake based on the stars. Sherlock figures it all out: “Oh that is brilliant, that is gorgeous. this is beautiful. Love this!”. The gallery woman admits to the fraud. Sherlock learns that this is in fact Moriarty behind this. *smiles*.
our baby boy solved everything and now is curled up, watching shit telly :(
Sherlock was waiting for John to leave to write to (more like at) Moriarty *smiles*. He lied to John about having given the missile plans to Mycroft. Sherlock actively wants to keep John out of this, because of his disapproval, John finds Sherlock’s fascination with Moriarty repulsive.
So to summarize the absolute randomness I spew out in this thing: the connection between Sherlock and Moriarty is quite vague, but ultimately based on their eccentricity(and in this case it doesn't really matter if(more like "how") it's romantic). I'll talk about it all in the big post I PROMISE, this is just the intro so you can follow my impossible thought process. Another important thing: John as the symbol of conventionality and morality. That's it, I'll post again in like a month because the feeling of responsibility paralyzes me LMAO. ok bye ;)
+
Moriarty’s words said by the victims:
“hello, sexy. i’ve sent you a little puzzle just to say hi.”
“12 hours to solve the puzzle, sherlock, or i’m going to be so naughty”
“well done you, come and get me.”
“clever you, guessing about carl powers. i never liked him. carl laughed at me, so i stopped him laughing. This is about you and me.”
“the clue is in the name “janus cars”[s:why’d you be giving me a clue] why does anyone do anything? because i’m bored. we were made for eachother sherlock”
“you can come and fetch me”
“i like to watch you dance”
“you’re enjoying this, aren’t you? joining the dots.”
“nice touch this, the pool, where little carl died. i stopped him. i can stop john watson too, stop his heart”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I feel bad for not explaining more of what happens to Cole in my Fairy Timmy with the nicktoons au (I really need anther name for this au but ah well it’s what I got)
Now Cole her parents are not lazy crazy or neglectful like Timmy’s parents are so fairy council wouldn’t possibly let Wanda & Cosmo take her in and I don’t think Cole would want that anyway
Also with this tidbit
Tumblr media
Apparently Cole was a replacement for sparky the dog being as he didn’t go over well at all so apparently the show going downhill was the dog and Cole?
Being as I live in Australia 🇦🇺 that season didn’t seem to get here so not sure if that was the cause but I understand Cole wasn’t a bad character herself she wasn’t placed well in the show itself
Nor was the dog (really made no cents to me why they were place into the show in the first place but ah well)
Poof Peri wasn’t when it went downhill in my
Opinion; ok now Cole would great to have Wanda & Cosmo as her god parents until she turns 17-18 and well she would get fairy Timmy & toddler peri/poof as her god siblings so she would get to see them when they’re not in spellermenry school or getting fairy Training by fairy felicity
Cole always get to see Wanda packing lunch for the boys the boys get dropped off to magical school or when fairy felicity pops in to take Timmy & peri for their fairy lessons in either fairy world or heads off to Jimmy’s universe because it seems Jimmy & Danny (when
He visiting with Sam Trucker and Jazz)to be great help with helping Timmy & Poof/Peri handle their powers (when they’re in fairy world Jorgen the tooth fairy sometimes help with fairy training when they’re in Jimmy’s universe if Danny SpongeBob are not around sometimes Carl & Sheen try to help or Cindy likes to butt in because she enjoys how Sweet Timmy can be plus being a fairy now granting their wishes is great way for him to practice his magic (same for peri/poof)
Now Cole has to deal with Cocker sometimes those are the only times she might be able to visit Jimmy’s lab (( Jimmy and her don’t each other very well and she’s more interested in being a eco-warrior than a scientist so they only hang out to stop cocker and for Timmy Wanda Cosmo & poof/peri’s sakes; I can see Hazel being more interested in Jimmy’s studies with rocks more than Cole; only seen one episode of Cole and it was pieces of it with Mermaids 🧜‍♀️ she comes off as someone who’s trying to be a naturalist more than a scientist and not to be mean but sometimes naturalist don’t always get along with science professors witch is what Jimmy is becoming;;; also ALSO Cole seems to create her own kinda havoc and while Timmy’s havoc has calm down because 1) now that he’s fully Wanda & Cosmo’s Fairy child he’s actually away from all the abuse & neglect he was going through from his birth parents & old life as well as having a much better supportive family (he not only has Wanda & Cosmo but mama cosmo Wanda’s dad and her sister blonda Jorgen the tooth fairy as well as Nana Boom Boom and 2) being as fairy world as well nicktoons unite gang are there for him to help him truly learn Timmy for once don’t have to worry about being his friendly self and has no need to make crazy wishes anymore because before he HAD to make wishes to deal with his crazy dumb birth parents; the gosh awful babysitter Vicky AND cocker who didn’t really want to teach him but rather fail him all the time to get at his fairies these are the reason Timmy’s wish ever went out of hand as they did;; but anyway being as Cole’s still got tendencies to cause havoc Jimmy tends to not want her around much and he’s only just started to get over his dislike of girls around age 12-13 so he only rarely lets even Cindy into his lab for school study projects most of the time so Cole would be less likely to be invited unless it’s a cocker trouble or one of Timmy’s old villains from when he was human comes to bother cole for information on Timmy now that she has Wanda and Cosmo
BUT when Cole turns 17 they all did hold a special party for her with Danny’s friend Sam & Tucker as a birthday gift but they don’t tell Cole it was because when she turns 18 she’s lose Wanda and Cosmo peri/poof and Timmy and will forget everything about fairies 🧚 so it’ll be last celebration for Fairy family to have with Cole for family scrapbooks (and hopefully make it a little easier for Timmy & poof/peri to say goodbye to Cole for when she turns 18) many pictures were taken that day Sam help Cole learn how to make vagen foods being as it Cole’s very interested in learning about that
Now when Cole’s 18 she’s going off to college and fairy Timmy will be going to magical college where Peri’s going to magical bordering school for school learning so this is when Wanda & Cosmo go into retirement and travel all time for 1000 years
Now Jimmy the smart investor kid that he is would have gotten a scholarship from many many MANY colleges (his parents are soo proud of him they are GOOD parents who love and care for their son very much so has a little party to celebrate their boy going off to college/ university many tears were shed over their little boy growing up)
While both Jimmy and Timmy are going to their colleges/ universities they still visit each other when not busy with their studies (peri who by then changed their name to peri sometimes visits with Timmy when he’s not busy with his schooling as well)
Now when fairly odd parents a new wish gets more seasons I’m not sure if they’ll touch on Cole or not being as it’s Timmy that hunting the narrative more and Cole bearly gets mentioned maybe she’ll pop up when Hazel gets a chance to look over the scrapbooks Wanda & Cosmo made for both Timmy & Peri and then sees a few photos of Cole in them
Now she wasn’t as big part of the family as Timmy became but cannot ignore they were her fairy god family for a time so they had to have SOME photos of her;
Probably not as many of Timmy and Peri though
I am curious if the show will show us an adult Cole in the future or not until then I’m not sure whatever’s happened to her after she grew up
