The Kuvira/Suyin parallels

So, this is piggybacking off my previous post about the Opal/Lin parallels, and to be honest I've always loved making this comparison, wince it's just so damn ironic and juicy.

Suyin and Kuvira are, of course, adversaries through a lot of the show, however, I think it's, mostly due to their similarities.

Both Kuvira and Suyin are, at their cores, leaders of their self made factions. Both also built said factions as coping mechanisms to the abandonment/neglect they experienced as children.

Both these characters garner the affection they lacked as children by having people depending on them. And also controlling said people. Suyin, by building a city and clan she was the matriarchal of. And closer to her, personally, keeping her family tight knit and her children isolated from the wider world and heavily dependent on her. As for Kuvira, it projecting her trauma onto a suffering nation and fashioning herself into being a hero of the people. Someone the people adored.

You don't really need to do a lot of mental gymnastics for this one. They were both isolated and lonely as kids, so they created environments where they were important and revered.

There's clear pressure from both these women for their "people" to conform to the rules they set. Suyin threatens Kuvira and Baatar Jr with banishment. One another occasion, she enables Korra's hunt for Aiwei, despite the obvious risk this endeavour would bring. While Kuvira's methods of control are more... barbaric? I'd call concentration camps barbaric but to each their own.

They're fiercely protective of their carefully crafted status quo, since it is, essentially, a coping mechanism. The further it falls apart, the further their own psyche does too.

Suyin's qorst nightmare is her family and city falling apart, while for Kuvira it is when her Empire crumbles.

They can become increasingly manic and desperate the more danger their 'works' are, tossing any moral code or even sanity out the window.

They'll grasp at any straws to protect what's theirs. Suyin pressured Korra into going into the Avatar state, despite Korra's clear discomfort. Kuvira, meanwhile, harnessed the energy of the spirit vines and laid waste to Republic City.

There both even willing to endanger their allies, even those closest to them. Suyin taking her youngest sons on a dangerous mission to try and kill Kuvira (someone they most likely knew as children) while Kuvira herself nearly murdered Baatar Jr, her fiancé and closest supporter, just for the chance of taking out Korra. Rip Beifong brothers you really are the true victims here.

This desperation is understandable... its all they have. Both Kuvira and Suyin grew up alone, feeling unloved by their families. This led them to acting out. Be it for attention or any other reason, they ended up being too much to handle for their parents

We all know about Suyin scarring Lin, right? And this being part of the reason Suyin was forced to leave her home and dropped off at her grandparents. I find it interesting that it is implied that Kuvira too severely injured her mother, perhaps this also being the catalyst for her being given away by her parents too.

Perhaps because Suyin's second chance was so good for her, she wished to extend one to a troubled young girl. I firmly believe she saw a lot of herself in Kuvira (for better or for worse). The line about "hurting someone in this family" easily made me think of what Suyin did to Lin and see that she regrets it and doesn't want Kuvira to go through the same.

Regret, however does not fix all and neither Kuvira, nor Suyin know how to atone for what they've done.

It seems hard for either of these characters to understand the hurt they've caused nor that their actions have consequences. However, Suyin and Kuvira are treated rather kindly by the narrative. We've seen planty of people talk about how Su is coddled by the show's writing. And Kuvira is treated with a similar gentle hand. Redemption is a muddy subject for me, however I will say that bothese very complex and fascinating characters were done extremely dirty by shallow writing.

However, I will finish this long silly ramble by saying that it is very in character for Su to forgive Kuvira, despite this possibly making her children uncomfortable.

A huge part of Suyin's ideology is believing in second chances. However it runs deeper than that. As stated before, her family is the most important thing in the world to her. And Kuvira is part of that family. It's not surprising that Su is hurriedly doing damage control on everything after B4 and everything that happened.

I find Kuvira and Suyin fascinating characters. Their trauma, their drive and the mild insanity with delusions of grandeur is what really pulls together these two tormentors of the Beifong family together for me. ❤️

Also, on a side note. I find it very curious when people like one of these characters, but dislike the other, since they are so similair with their arcs and personalitywise. If you are a Kuvira stan and a Suyin hater or a Suyin stan and a Kuvira hater, could you clue me in a little on the thought process? Is it like. Just vibes? Or is it one of the small differences between Su and Kuvira that feels so jarring that it seperates them completely?

Common ADHD traits/experiences I've heard of !!

(I was gonna make a post about why I might be neurodivergent but I figured it'd be going a bit too personal. Also this is just easier)

Physical hyperactivity (inability to sit/stand still (I used to think this meant that people with ADHD were incapable of. Sitting down (while constantly fidgeting or not) for one whole class)(I was an idiot)(I still am)). (Just overall constant , movement (I might have it idk I'm ALWAYS

Excessive talking

Stimming, fidgeting, general and overall repetitive movements (such as flapping hands, pacing, clasping hands together, etc)

Low attention span regarding things that don't garner much interest to you

More likely to be autistic, have anxiety or depression (or generally have other diagnostic conditions)

Ability to Hyperfocus on specific things, at times out of their control

More likely to have a lower Performance in school that most people

Proneness to addiction

Rejection sensitive dysphoria/RSD (really sensitive and afraid to rejection or criticism or disapproval or stuff like that. I'm questioning if I have it and I'm pretty sure I do bc i would have a whole breakdown bc i accidentally had a bad unintentional thought about this cool person I didn't want to hate me)(it's complicated)

There's a few things that are influencing my decision to vote Kazui Innocent. His ability to possibly protect other prisoners is not one of those things though and I'm going to explain my reasons along with why that doesn't even factor into it one bit here.

This isn't really a theory but an explanation of my logic.

A lot of my reasoning is based on being an all or nothing type of person. One could call it my bias or aversion but the one thing I hate the most is hypocrites and I try not to be hypocritical myself. So, seeing people "go think of his poor wife" after just coming from everything I saw people saying about Mahiru's boyfriend-

Yeah, no, people can shove that. I'm not interested in being lectured by people who only have sympathy towards victims when it is convenient to them. Then rationalize that behavior by saying there was a difference in the seriousness of the relationship. Mahiru was only dating but Kazui got married. Oh, how scandalous.

I personally see no difference here since both things are still committed relationships. At the end of the day both were bad to their partners and that led to their deaths. This is just my personal bias but how serious the relationship was would not detract from the pain I would feel if someone I was in a relationship with cheated on or hurt me in any way.

Because regardless I put my trust in this person enough to call them my significant other or partner and how they behaved was a breach of that trust that led to me being hurt. Having someone come in and be like, well, it's not like you were married so it's not that bad would simply not make me feel better personally.

Simply tell me the real difference between these two images.

I am on my knees begging but I've seen how this fandom reacts to things like that already, so I doubt I'll get an answer.

Overall, the lack of sympathy I've witnessed regarding the victims of other prisoners up until this point makes me rather suspicious of this sudden amount of concern for the victim's feelings. When I came on here saying I was about to be heartless everyone should have taken that as a sign. I meant that shit. I saw how Mahiru was doing and said this far before Cat even released.

So, this is in no means a brand-new perspective from me. Because of how I have personally seen other prisoner's victims discussed I simply do not want to go-

"Oh, yeah you're right the victim's feelings matter in this case actually. Those other six before this well those were different."

I didn't see anyone going oh how do you think Haruka's sister felt it's not her fault that their parents are like that, Shidou's patients, or the hat girl one more time to rub it in Futa's face. I can't go back to discussing Mu's victim because of all the shit I saw with that.

Yuno is exempt because people simply assumed her murder was abortion. It depends on the person, but I don't really see a victim there if that's all she did. However, no one was like come on think of her clients or even went back to reexamine that case after the third anniversary art reveal which seems to be the prisoners directly after their crimes.

So, I'm very much in the camp of that's not going to persuade me into voting him Guilty and I don't understand why it's been brought up as a point of concern here and nowhere else. Mahiru is currently sitting at a firm Innocent verdict and these two things are basically the same to me.

So, it's only fair from my point of view that he's Innocent too.

Outside of that I think reducing people voting Kazui Innocent as them simply wanting him to protect the prisoners is a lacking assessment.

Because personally I don't give a fuck if he protects these guys or not. I know that may sound super shocking, but I really don't. Everyone in Milgram is a murderer, they better figure it the fuck out themselves. I mean they figured out how to kill someone before so they can figure out how to defend themselves.

Plus, I'm in a pretty comfortable position because no one I'm really attached to is Guilty right now. People that really care about Mu and Haruka definitely should want Kazui Innocent because those two can't fucking fight. Haruka literally admits to only being able to kill things smaller than him and Mu had to get the jump on her victim and seems oblivious to hostility.

Both are sitting in the Guilty seat right now. So, if Kotoko is voted Innocent again and keeps playing by Milgram's rules she will jump them and not the other Innocent prisoners. Milgram's second trial commencement notice even alludes to this bias being an issue stating,

"Do remember, Milgram allows for sensibility, morality, ethics, legality, preference, taste, or sexual inclination as the basis for judgement. You have done just that in the first trial, and you have my gratitude. Now as we come to the second trial, I'm guessing a new basis for judgement has introduced itself in your mind. You are also human. You can't help but develop attachments to individual prisoners. If you find one Innocent another might be in danger. If you decide to judge one as Guilty it may prompt the other to go in a wholly unexpected direction. In this environment of swirling interests,

This is the reason Kotoko is last because if enough people already have their favorite prisoner's safety secure and the ones that they dislike are guilty it's far more tempting to vote Kotoko Innocent instead of Guilty.

Gunsli, how can you feel so comfortable, be so calm despite Mikoto not going on trial yet? Couldn't you be interested in having Kazui Innocent to possibly protect him? If he's voted guilty again Kotoko said she'll kill him how can you be so calm?

Well, you see-

I'm sitting so comfortable because I'm willing to do whatever it takes to be able to say,

If after everything I've written about Mikoto he's still Guilty well that seems like a him issue. I don't cast my votes on a maybe, but other people can. Hell, I'm even willing to bargain for it I'll vote Kotoko Innocent every day of the fucking three-month trial if Amane and Mikoto are innocent first and I think a lot of people feel similarly. To the very end of Milgram selfishly with no limits I want to do what I want to do regardless of how that makes me look.

It's really funny that a lot of the fandom is fretting over the idea of a video game, not recognizing the game has been on for a few years now.

If that outcome happens I'll be upset surely but at that point regular Mikoto is just gonna need to learn how to block, he might need to learn evade too, or to shove something against these lockless prison cell doors so no one can come in whenever they want. Either way he better figure it the fuck out. Because Kotoko may still jump people regardless of what her verdict is.

It's even weirder to pretend Kazui is our only hope when it comes to defending the prisoners. Truthfully, they should all be evaluating ways to defend themselves after the incident anyhow. Especially since it's not like Kazui can be everywhere at once.

Furthermore, Kazui even expresses the possibility that he may be incapable of doing that on his own in his second voice drama.

Then he stresses the importance of Es' verdicts when it comes to the safety of the prisoners literally asking,

"If at all possible, I would like you to choose a method that will not get any more people hurt. That’s what I’m saying."

So, you’re telling me to forgive you?

I’m the Warden. If I forgive you, I forgive you. If I don’t, I don’t. There’s no other factors to it.

He's not just referring to himself but the other prisoners as well. Es assumes Kazui is asking to be voted Innocent but as it stands now we don't know how restraint will work for the second trial. If Prisoners that weren't voted guilty in trial one would be put under the first level of restraint or if it would jump to the second. Considering how Mu and Haruka are moving around I would assume it's the first level of restraint.

Meaning Kazui would more than likely still be able to move even if he were voted guilty. However, he does specifically say look at our sins, so he is referring to prisoners outside of himself as well while recommending this.

Something that people have literally already done with Shidou.

I know that I only voted Shidou Innocent so he could take care of the injured prisoners we have now and others in case another violent incident occurred. However, a similar thing happened there where people wanted to allude that Shidou being Innocent was bad for Kotoko.

The person I must state again who has jumped people, is in possession of numerous weapons, and can quite frankly protect her damn self.

That's not even going into the fact that Kazui to his continued admission was too slow to protect Mahiru. So, who's to say he wouldn't be too slow when it came to protecting someone else. I don't believe people are ignorant when it comes to this information.

He even brings up how if Mikoto and Kotoko attacked him at the same time he would lose. Something that has been implied as a possibility from the beginning.

I can't speak for everyone all I can say is there are multiple other reasons that someone would want to personally vote Kazui Innocent. For me though I simply want to live with no regrets. So, I try to do what it is that I want in the areas of my life where that is possible. So, I'm gonna keep doing what I feel like.

They were released exclusively to patrons, then after three months were listed in the Tamberlane Shop for public sale between $3-5. While we love Tales from Treehollow as a great way to share more stories from the universe, they are unfortunately VERY expensive to produce and garner little interest, even from Patrons. For my number nerds out there, check out this Patreon newsletter for a detailed breakdown of what all goes into creating just one of these publications.

Does that mean we won’t have the occasional one-off story? Heck no! It just means they will now be created on an occasional basis depending on workloads and budget instead of monthly.

Character Cameos in the Comic

For a long while, we were offering patrons the ability to have their personal characters appear in the comic and, in some cases, become recurring characters. While this worked great for a while, we’ve run into the issue of far too many cameos we still need to catch up on. We will be fulfilling all outstanding cameo requests to the best of our ability while still putting the integrity of the story first, but going forward cameo opportunities will no longer be a Patreon perk. Instead, when we have cameo needs they will be available for purchase.

Commissions

Originally, $50+ reward commissions were quarterly full-body sketches. For the new system, these will be changed to sketched busts, drawn every two months. These are significantly easier for me to draw, and there are a lot of them. This will make it easier to keep up while drawing the comic, and will mean that $50+ members will get twice as many commissions as before!

In line with this, $100+ members will be able to have their busts drawn with flat color as opposed to sketched, also on the every-other-month schedule instead of quarterly!

These busts can also be turned into Telegram/chat stickers!

$250 commissions are now going to be 1-hour illustrations with a list of limitations. I kept going above and beyond on my commissions but it kept me from getting any other work done, so I’m being firm and limiting myself to 1 hour only.

Flynn was Yuuki Mishima headcanon

A while back, I was thinking that if Akira Kurusu of Persona 5 was his timeline's version of Akira from Shin Megami Tensei IV, then Flynn's past life could have been a parallel version of one of Joker's friends.

There are four Confidants who are male, around Akira's age, and have natural black hair: Yusuke, Yuuki Mishima, Shinya Oda, and Ryuji (who dyes). I then narrowed it down to Mishima and Shinya, since Ryuji and Yusuke have such established personalities that it would be weird to see them vary as much as Flynn.

I wound up writing a fic that forced* me to settle on Mishima, and only then did I realize how much sense it made.

*(I added some details that would have made Akira eighteen to twenty when shit went down. Since the minimum age gap between Akira and Shinya is four years, he'd be too young to join the CDF.)

[Quick clarification: the events of Persona 5 do not lead into SMT4. The Yuuki Mishima we meet is a parallel version of Flynn's past life].

Kingmaker and Follower

SMT4 is infamous for its alignment endings; it's easy to screw yourself out of Neutral if you don't get everything perfectly balanced. Neutral is also the only ending where Flynn doesn't wind up serving someone else (although I suppose you could see it also as him serving Fujiwara and the Goddess of Tokyo).

I'm interpreting that as Flynn being someone who is inclined to follow rather than forge his own path. It's easy for him to cling to someone with greater resolve than his own, and it takes serious guts for him to stand up for what he thinks needs to be done. I'm not saying that Flynn isn't strong; it's just that it's harder for him to be independent. When he finds the courage to take charge, it's the best outcome.

The thing is, Flynn isn't merely a follower, he's the Kingmaker. Nobody succeeds unless he casts his lot in with them. And the Kingmaker does not rule at the end (except on Chaos, but even then Lucifer's around).

You keep seeing this, again and again. Things went to hell in the other two timelines because Flynn's past life sided with Kiyoharu or Kenji instead of stopping the missiles himself. When you take a jaunt in the alternate timelines, it's Flynn who clears the way for Akira to become king. Heck, this even extends to Apocalypse; besides being brainwashed into servitude on Anarchy, the Bonds route has him slip gracefully into Nanashi's shadow.

Mishima in P5 is definitely a follower. He basks in the Phantom Thieves' reflected glory, and is happy to just be on the sidelines. He happily admits that he's Joker's groupie rather than his friend. If Mishima had the guts to start standing on his own, I think he'd be a capable Persona user. But since Akira's got everything handled already, he's happy to remain his support.

And Mishima is a good supporter. It's easy to rank up his Confidant, exp bonus is nice, and the Phan-Site enables sidequests. Not to mention that he's the PR guy, and he garners popularity from the masses. It's different from what Flynn does, but courting popularity is the work of a kingmaker.

Personality

Flynn's a silent protagonist, but what I find interesting about him is that you see his personality vary depending on alignment. The guy in all the bars will tell you about the impression Flynn gives, and the fight with Isabeau gives rather expressive dialogue options. Flynn will grow in a certain direction depending on how you play him.

(What's different about other games is that there's room for their protagonists to not embrace their alignments wholeheartedly. You can read, say, Kazuya as someone who made mostly Chaos choices out of pragmatism but doesn't believe that the right to live is derived from power).

Mishima starts out meek, but he has room to grow. One reason why I vetoed Ryuji and Yusuke is that we're so used to seeing them a certain way that it would be weird to see Ryuji grow towards Law. Mishima might have grown over the course of his Confidant, but he still isn't yet his own person.

I'm also thinking about how Futaba calls Mishima an NPC for being generic and unmemorable. It might be a stretch, but it also seems to vibe with how the man in the bar says that Neutral Flynn is quiet and hard to understand.

Mishima also not only develops a Shadow, he deals with it on his own. Joker refuses to take his heart, and he lets Mishima determine his own fate without interference. (I forgot why this was relevant but it feels like it is.)

Besides, I can see Mishima shaking down demons for money like Flynn. Hell, isn't that what happens? Mishima asked for donations and pocked the proceeds, and Flynn robs demons by 'asking' for donations!

(On the other hand, Mishima attempted revenge on the people who bullied him, while Flynn rescues Navarre. Then again, room to grow, and with parallel selves it doesn't have to be one-to-one.)

Semirelated Ramblings

My general fanfic headcanon for Flynn (unrelated to Mishima) is that he's a stressed perfectionist. He might not know about other timelines, but part of him knows that if he doesn't say and do everything just right, it will end in disaster. On Neutral, he's brave enough to oppose the excesses of Law and Chaos, but deep down he's terrified that his middle path might not work out. On Law and Chaos, he winds up siding with someone who's much more confident than he is, because they have to be correct if they're so sure of themselves, right?

I also see that this weakness in his heart is why he behaves the way he does when brainwashed. The way I interpret how Dagda brainwashes people, he implants the overpowering desire to serve Nanashi, leaving the person's mind to rationalize why. For example, Asahi figures that she'll do anything for Nanashi because she loves her little brother. Toki thinks it's out of romantic love, and if you ship them like I do, so does Hallelujah. For the others, they see him as a combination of friend and leader; I can see Gaston (and maybe Isabeau and Navarre) regarding him as a superior officer and/or king.

Flynn, on the other hand? Gets on his knees and worships his master as a god. Flynn wants assurance that he's doing the right thing, and the brainwashing provides that. He believes that Nanashi is always right, and that the perfect route is to submit entirely to his will. It's comforting for him, not having to worry, or even think.

It helps that he knew both Blasted and Infernal Akira, both of whom were good kings to broken worlds. He figured out that Nanashi is the second coming of King Aquila, which cemented his godhood even further in his eyes.

Ok, I think it’s irritating when fans blame another character for the author’s actions like hawks stans who blame endeavor for the direction in hawks’ writing when the real culprit is the person who wrote him that way. Maybe it’s a way to vent on an acceptable target, but as someone who likes hawks + endeavor (not ship) it just looks like another form of bashing.

It depends on how the criticism is delivered.

Talking about how Hawks character was being used to fluff up Enji's more than being a separate character with his own arc at one point isn't an attack on Enji's character, it's commentary on Hori's writing and how he's doing both characters a disservice in that situation.

However I do agree people can take it too far when venting their own frustration.

When I was following the manga, it was a point of frustration for me personally which I made posts about (which did garner disagreement which was interesting discussion to explore). My issue at the time was it felt like Hawks own existence was for Endeavor's benefit even though he had an interesting story that I wanted to see completed however it wasn't only Hawks who was suffering from this. Many of the students had that happen to them for the sake of Izuku too.

I know people felt like we were just complaining about Hawks giving Endeavor support and we're being unfair but at the time it really did feel like Hawks own story had been forgotten (or put on hold) for the sake of Enji's story.

I actually don't know much what is happening in the manga but from the lack of complaints in my ask box, it seems like Hori has moved away from doing that and/or it feels more naturally done.

My hyper fixation as a child, (and still is? But I've since been trained to hide it better,) was humans. Specifically, emotional expression, personalities, social connections, behavioral analytics, etc.

And this netted me an interesting relationship with adults who acted like this. As they would often try to dismiss me as simply ignorant or too young to understand, and i would rebelliously retaliate by laying bare their secrets to them.

This was blunt, but effective. There was no faster way to have an adult respect my opinion, than look them in the eyes and tell them who they truly were. And if they continued to try to deny me my right to opinion, i would utilize The information i *couldn't possibly know* to psychologically break them down, until they were so far beneath me in the conversation they had no choice but to accept my words. You choose not to respect my right to thought, I will choose not to respect yours. A very childish problem solving method, but hey, i was a child.

I've since grown up a bit, and on some levels matured. Sometime around that magical age of not a kid anymore, but not yet an adult, i learned the much less damaging approach of the very words writ above. I opened with a respectful acknowledgment of their place, (while it's true I've experienced far more than me.), followed by a striking inarguable statement of humbling, (and you've especially experienced enough to know how much of this world you don't know, and how much you couldn't have known. You aren't omnipotent.),followed by a self inflation, (even if i know less than you, i do know *some* things.), soothed into a statement of statistical likelihood, (and it's really not that unlikely that some of what i know, falls into the category of things you *don't* know.), ending with a statement of caution. (So it would be rather foolish, even childishly arrogant, of you, to assume i know nothing you don't.)

Depending on the person in question the levels of ego stroking, degradation, self confidence, and affirmative speaking, would vary for maximum effect.

My hyper niche knowledge in humans, but not exactly other areas, often led me to situations of garnering The ear of others, without truly actually knowing the necessary knowledge they needed. So the weight of this responsibility spurned me to study. Study everything.

In this way i was perceived by adults as smart (i wasn't, i was merely autistic. My intelligence is fairly average.), mature (i wasn't. Still am not xD), And charismatic (i kinda am? If i try, and i rarely do, i could talk my way into anything. Lol). This... Wasn't a good thing. I sacrificed my right to childhood to be perceived with an equivalency of respectability. And even now, having not been considered a child in longer than i can count, i suffered for it.

Because whilst i succeeded in achieving equality, i did so by becoming them. Which i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO. At least not so early... Apologies for my passion, but i Should have simply been respected as a human fucking being. Instead of being asked to work my ass off simply to be allowed a voice at the table.

I didn't achieve equality, i achieved self sacrifice. And accomplished nothing!! I hate the way children are treated!! Everyone talks for them!! Everyone acts like they're this precious... Object!!! That must be cradled And protected, not because of their humanity, but because of their LACK OF HUMANITY!!! Everyone decides everything for them!!! They don't get to choose, they simply have to endure the consequences of people who act like they know what's best for them!! And maybe they do, maybe they don't. But given everyone constantly fights over what is or isn't good for kids, statistically SOMEONE IS WRONG!! And therefore some kid SUFFERS!!

And they can do nothing about it. Nothing at all. They're powerless, not because they are kids, but because their intrinsic right to power as a human being is cruelly withheld from them. Becoming an adult isn't instant. It isnt them waking up one day, and magically they're adult now. It is a slow process over multiple years, And acting like they're not at least in some part or way already adult, is to look them in the eye and tell them what they know to be true about themselves is a lie.

So they fight, or they run. Either they unnaturally and unhealthily push themself screaming into adulthood, just to prove some part of them already was there, but in the process they deny the parts of themself that still held onto the whimsy of youth, or they bury these adult emotions and thoughts, obediently pretending they're nothing more than the mere cute little toys the first class citizens above them delusionally desire them to be.

I can't see a world where either of these outcomes lead to a positive epilogue of these kid's childhoods...

They're not objects, they're tiny people. And people have rights, or at least they're supposed to. Kids often don't. They're the primary class of citizens that legally are treated as a lesser form of humans. Being treated like they're everyone else's responsibility to be kept in their cage of innocence, so they don't accidentally discover adulthood sooner than their time, despite that their very instinctual being is trying to slowly become that very thing.

For the kids! For the kids! Protect the kids! Protect the kids! What if a kid was here? What if a kid saw this? What if a kid showed up? Sanitize everything!! They're so innocent and precious and unexposed to the world, we must keep them this way for as long as we can until we forcibly and unceremoniously kick them head first into the world and expect them to just be an adult now with 0 training or experience. And if they complain, they're an adult now! It's no longer our problem!!

um. i dont know how to say. please listen to the children in your life. its true sometimes youll know better but, often times they have perspectives we may miss and dismissing them hurts everyone in the end. we have so much we can share and learn together.

If you're looking for a particular class, I always favoured Crystallography. It wasn’t a busy class, not even for overachievers like me, but I always found them so fascinating. Beautiful things, versatile as well, but of course we weren't permitted such luxuries when they weren't needed. Though, I suppose Onomancy would be far more of a typical lesson for one to study, or perhaps astrology would be more to your taste - to learn of my stars as I have yours. Most of my classes were more banal things though, even with the company of two of my peers, politics, languages and the like. I hope they're alright, despite it all.

One of the few things I have allowed myself here is a small knife made of a beautiful green stone, rippling, some type of arcane transmitter (alas the name evades me, though Aristaeus is what I have christened it as) Not that I've admitted it, but I hold it quite dear. Did you know that they emit a hum when an arcane charge is passing though? Low, but pleasant, and the tone changes depending on the crystal.

And it is a shame what was said to your friend, but I am sure she will not retaliate. It isn't in her nature to be so bold, but perhaps if you wished to comfort her let her indulge one of her own recipes. Or, if you have the time, ask her about her jewellery.

Thank you truly for the suggestions. I had my name read once long ago, I’m sure it would be wonderful to in turn be able to do it myself too. I’ll take all the classes I can. I’m sure you understand I’m not somebody to miss a chance of a lecture. Everything I can attend, I will be there for.

I do hope the students don’t mind too much. No matter what I do, my mere presence seems to garner the attention of others. I’ll see if I can talk to those teaching beforehand, just in case. If even for just a moment I can understand what it means to be here, I will be happy. Clear my mind, and become someone like the young fey listening intently.

My arcane focus isn’t crystalline in nature, so my familiarity with how such objects react to certain things is rusty. I’d love to know the intricacies, if you ever find time to list them. Sometimes I catch the fey talk about their interests. It’s easy to see the difference between conversations of necessity and when I manage to bargain just a little bit of themselves into the open. My young friend, she is the same. I’ll continue to push her to do as she wishes, even when it ends as it usually does.

6/52 "Idol Burning" by Rin Usami

“In the same way that a night of sleep put wrinkles in a bedsheet, just being alive took a toll.” A very interesting dive into idol culture, cancel culture, depression, and dependency. Rin Usami explores a world many have only glanced at, but some will be intimately familiar with in their own way. The main character Akari, is a superfan of an idol. She follows their every move, appearance, and interview even running a fan blog dedicated to them that has garnered a following of its own. The book starts with her finding out that Masaki, the idol she follows, has punched a fan. We follow her and her mental state on a downward spiral as she struggles to come to terms with the news, among other things. This books is short, and I mean short, the official page length coming in at around 144 pages. But the format of the book is tiny, in a full size the book would be even shorter. As such, you would expect things to move fast. But really, they don't. This books is more of a slow burn with gaps of time in between the chapters varying in length from a few days to a few months at one point. We come to find out very quickly that Akari is not competent outside of her idol fascination and the work she does to contribute to it. Some may find this a point of frustration, this book is far less of a journey than it is a character study. The plot is very, very loose. We are more so watching Akari as she tries to roll with the punches and realizations brought forward by the scandal and other things in her life. We watch how her relationship with her family is strained by her dependency on Masaki and the things she does out of obsession for him. I wish there were more to say without spoiling things, but it's hard to say much. this work has been divisive in my experience, some finding it an emotional, intimate exploration of depression and coping that hit right to home. While others find it a frustration "Nothing happens" book with a bumbling character with an outlandish hobby/obsession.

To me, the book was interesting. In many ways I could relate, but in others I just couldn't either due to culture or nature some parts of the book just failed to find their footing with me. The prose has its moments but as many times as it is sharp and cutting, it is dull, lost and rambling off on something that feels un-needed. All in all however, I can say that I recommend this book to someone with an open mind or with an interest in the culture. It's certainly something different, and with such a short length it wont eat into too much of your time. 3.5 out of 5. Much closer to a 4 than a 3. Idol burning has strong moments that truly grabbed me, but had just as many moments where it let go for just a little too long. Meandering until it finally got back on track.

A: Attention

Erwin is really attentive and pays a lot of attention to small details. He's the kind of person who remembers a lot of small details, and will hardly forget his schedules and plans.

However, due to his attention to detail, some people might find that Erwin is nitpicking too much. People might also think that Erwin is micromanaging too much as he wants everything to be perfect and in order.

B: Behaviour

Erwin is always calm and collected no matter the situation. He is always polite to people younger than him and respectful to those older than him as well.

Erwin is always the most grounded in his circle of friends, and people tend to depend on him due to how knowledgeable he is too. Erwin is very sensible and intelligent, and hardly does anything that would harm his image.

C: Career

With Erwin'a charisma and great leadership, he would do well in organisations that requires discipline and order, such as the military, the police, or the navy. He would be a very persuasive and charismatic leader who leads with knowledge and compassion.

I can also foresee Erwin doing really well in a political career. He is extremely persuasive and charming, and he can easily garner support from the general public and citizens as well. Likewise, he would also stand firm in his beliefs and work for the rights of the people.

Erwin would also do well in the corporate world, such as opening up his own business, working as a financial advisor, or a fund manager. He makes daring moves and investments, and even though they might be risky, Erwin's wit always bring the organisation he is working for to new heights.

D: Dating

I think Erwin would be someone who enjoys going on classic dates like in the good olden days; a dinner and dance, a late night movie at the outdoor cinema, a walk in the park. He loves spending quality and undisturbed time with his lover, and he loves diverting all his attention to them.

However! Erwin finds thrill and excitement in other kinds of dates too; arcade dates, shopping dates, beach dates, hiking dates just to name a few. As long as he's with his lover, anywhere would always be the perfect date.

E: Energy level

Erwin's mood is always calm and relaxed, so he doesn't have random bursts of energy. He's always on-the-go, and he is always doing something.

Erwin hardly has mood swings as well, unless he is too stressed up at work. Erwin does not really like surprises and impromptu occasions, and he prefers having a plan than to work on spontaneous bursts of energy. Therefore, Erwin would also behave as such, and he is always predictable and easy to go along with.

F: Fashion

I feel that Erwin would have a preference for long sleeve shirts, knitwear, and sweaters. He would like to wear light coloured clothing too. Colours like khaki, beige, ivory, and mother-of-pearl would look very nice on him. Baby blue and sky blue would complement his eyes too.

His wardrobe has a large variety of business suits, formal wear, and also more casual button-ups and tailored trousers. Erwin's wardrobe is more colourful during the spring and summer.

I also feel that Erwin is the kind of person who collects watches, and he has many watches for different suits and occasions.

G: Games

I don't think Erwin plays a lot of games, and he isn't interested in them as well. However, he might just give in to peer pressure and join Levi and Mike on games like Counter Strike and Call of Duty.

Erwin would probably enjoy playing card games like Blackjack and Poker, and somehow he manages to bluff really well. He would also enjoy strategy games like chess, shogi, go (wei qi), and reversi.

H: Hobbies

Other than reading and chess, I think Erwin would enjoy exercising a lot. He does a mix of aerobic and anaerobic activities, and running is his favourite. He usually goes to the gym with Mike and Levi where they would help to spot one another while at the weight machines.

I think Erwin would secretly enjoy crocheting too. It's hard to see Erwin sitting down for hours crocheting something, but Erwin is really good with his hands. He sometimes crochets gifts for his lover too.

I: Interior

I can foresee Erwin's house to be really wide and spacious, with not too many decorative items and furniture. Erwin would have paintings hung on the wall, and there would be bookshelves around the house too.

Erwin's bedroom is really simple, with a single bed, a small armchair by the window accompanied by a floor lamp. Erwin spends most of his time in his study/home office, where he would spend the most effort to maintain as well.

His home office would be bright and well-lit, with bookshelves by the wall too. Erwin has a preference for white lights and he loves opening his window during the day too.

J: Jealousy

Erwin would definitely not be a jealous lover, for he trusts his partner wholeheartedly. He doesn't worry if his partner is going out with friends of the opposite sex, as long as he knows where they're going.

However, Erwin can be a little possessive, especially if he sees someone hitting on his partner. He would switch from a calm demeanour and become a little stern, exerting dominance over the other party so that they know his partner's taken.

K: Kinks

You can't deny this, but Erwin definitely has a size kink. He finds his smaller-sized partner really desirable, and he loves how protective he can get over his partner.

Also, Erwin really loves holding his partner by their waist. The subtle act of putting his hand around their waist, or on the small of their back while walking makes him feel really 'manly', and he can be protective of his lover too.

During sex, Erwin would be a really gentle and sweet lover, always making sure his partner is feeling good. However, he definitely has his rougher moments too. Erwin would enjoy taking his partner from the rear, and he would get so turned on whenever he pulls his partner up by the hair or limbs so that he can take a good look at their blissful face.

L: Love language

Erwin is someone who wouldn't hesitate to spend his money on his lover. No, he doesn't necessarily splurge, but he loves pampering his lover with purchases. If his partner sees something they really like, Erwin would buy it. Erwin would also pay for meals and desserts, for the groceries, for dates, and anything that involves finances. Erwin wouldn't let his lover spend a single cent.

Erwin would also enjoy spending undisturbed time with his lover too. I feel that Erwin would sometimes be too engrossed in work that he forgets to separate work and personal time, so he would really appreciate spending quality time with his beloved. Erwin would unfortunately be a snorer, a very loud one too. He's constantly working and always busy, and he snores really loudly. Sometimes he even scares himself with how loud he sounds too.

I feel that Erwin would also tend to rub his eyes a lot too, because of how dry they always are. He knows it's a bad habit, but he can't help it. He carries eye drops around with him all the time.

For some reason I feel that Erwin prefers eating white meat opposed to red meat, so you'll see him enjoying chicken and fish more than others. However, he definitely wouldn't say no to a nice steak! Erwin's favourite fish is codfish, and he likes eating seafood like shrimps too.

R: Romance

Erwin is 10/10 a very romantic lover! He would remember the dates of anniversaries and birthdays at the tip of his finger, and he would plan for these celebrations way ahead too.

Erwin would pamper his lover just the way they love and want without asking for anything in return. He would be a very devoted and loving partner as well.

During sex, I feel that Erwin would pay a lot more attention on the foreplay and build up than the actual sex. He loves to pleasure and slowly prepare his partner, and he loves making his lover feel good as well. I feel that Erwin would enjoy visiting somewhere warm and sunny even though he doesn't really like the heat. Erwin loves listening to the waves, and loves being near the sea too. He would enjoy visiting countries in South East Asia, such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, or Singapore.

Erwin probably grew up in the city, therefore he would love visiting countries that have a slower-paced of living as well. There was always the chance he'd be displeased with her words. She may know how to communicate well, she was an extraordinary manipulator, negotiator educator, but those were engagements that had a purpose. Conversation for the sake of conversation was not something she was used to. One part due to her species, the other part due to a series of unfortunate events. So as she listened, she was rather surprised she didn't phrase anything in a manner that sounded too critical or offensive.

The compliments she gave came naturally, though she tried to be mindful of their use. Still, he seemed to enjoy them, which was all that really mattered. One can have all the confidence in the world, but if they have been lingering in isolation, it can be nice to be seen. Complimented, understood, whatever word suited the feeling best.

She listened to him breakdown her wording into answering in sections, a response she hadn't intended for but actually really enjoyed listening to. There was much insight to gleam from listening to him, catching the way his body moved and how his energy responded. She didn't look closely, she didn't wish to read him beyond what he wished to give her naturally in conversation. But there was no denying he was feeding her curious nature. Mortem observed the city they were coming up on. Its tall buildings in the distance so easily to make out against the horizon. It was almost pretty in the way it reminded her of traveling up to castles in the days of old.

A smile settled on her lips, appreciative of him being so certain he would not change the past. That he had enough sense to consider and wonder about the present - and deduced what was best for all, even at the expense of himself. For whatever reason, a number of which she could guess and concur with. But she noticed his lapse regarding the future before answering in a manner that differed from the last two. There was weight there to his thoughts, but she wouldn't pry into his affairs more than she has already.

Instead, the witch chuckled because she understood the want for something to happen. Something to break up the stillness, the boredom. It was a lot of the reason why she always was so amused by everything around her, without her sense of humor she likely would have gone mad. Or, madder, perhaps - depending on who you asked.

Her laughter at his joking was far from mocking then, "I'd be interested in such a tale as that."

But his statement he would have done something by now garnered a glance, side-eyeing him as if trying to figure out if that was true. He was withholding himself in the present, despite dissatisfaction, because he felt it was the correct course. How curious.

His comment about how she talked wasn't met with offensive. The witch blinked before she looked at him appreciatively. She took it as a compliment, especially after it took a lot of hard work to speak in all the ways she needed to.

Then came his questions. A flicker of surprise entered her face over what it was he asked her. Plenty of people questioned her throughout her long life, but it wasn't really to understand her - it was to gauge what the witch could do for them. A ruse. But what could the legendary Monkey King want with her that he couldn't figure out himself? So she knew easily enough this was just part of... normal conversation. Which she wasn't used to. At all.

"I suppose it's only fair, since I've been needling you with my own inquiries." Mortem took her chin between her fingers, finding herself amused. "Obviously the tales of my kind aren't much taken seriously anymore. Humans adopt my species' name like its an identity of their own - not that I mind much, they only empower our name. Even if their pointy hats are atrocious." She made motion to the classic witch hat before shuddering at the thought of it.

"My people are spread wide across the world, which is why every culture has something akin to us. No one witch is alike, each uniquely defined by the purpose they embody. Though, most tales of witches stem from one of us having a problem with authority." She scoffed fondly, for she loved her people. "We are an endangered species, between an old war and most religions seeing witches as a threat. But our kind can never truly end." Though her smile was calm now, it didn't quite reach her eyes at the reminder of the past. Even if she accepted what had happened, because she had to, there was an unrest there.

But she smirked playfully a moment later, "The tales of me come in many forms, depending on who you ask. A war veteran turned traitor to some, the bane of the church's existence, the hermit witch of misfortune, kingmaker, wandering fortune teller - there's plenty of truth to them all. Only the brave or foolish seek me out in my forest, if they are desperate enough. Which... is fine by me, I didn't want to share the hot spring in the nearby mountain with anyone, anyway." She jested, but she was partially serious. As lonely as her existence has become, she liked her forest and its solitude.

"...I've been alive since before countries had names, before castles were built, before lands were divided so harshly. There were species that existed that now are extinct or left. I could breathe magic like it was air, it was just always there." And now... it was city pollution she mostly inhaled when she traveled. Mortem looked at him then, still good-humored. "I'm not sure you realize just how long of a story you may just get, lovely."

A twitch of his nose, still smelling the sweet scent of pork and vegetables and sugar cane and people, and he hummed out before he spoke. There was a confident, cocky smirk that came onto his lips at her compliment; again, enjoying the ego stroking even if it came sparingly. He wondered, for a moment, if she had any ulterior motivation for it. Most people, who heard of his myths tended to question his ways of speech. For who, really, heard of a talking Monkey bone from stone? A few still around to say, if willing, as if simply speaking of him brought up his wrath. He hummed over her question, looking from her to the road ahead of them.

“The Past? I would not; for it brought forth the teachings of my Buddha and my Master to travel forth many lands; even if taken as a fictional folklore among people.” He spoke, casually, as if this sort of information was nothing but common knowledge. “The Present? I wonder, yes, how it would be to mingle among people again, but it’s not what’s important for the moment. Right now, I need to remain fictional – a legend hidden beneath retellings.”

At the thought for the Future, he fell silent for a moment. In that moment, he thought of what if he was needed. There was always that hope, however naively kept, he would be of need yet again. For the Heavens, the Earth or the Hells. Perhaps that it’s time that he finally found someone to succeed his story. Someone to be the new Monkey King; the Monkey King of the Present, the new Equal to Heaven. . .

A new somebody to appear in his life yet again.

The Monkey King said none of this, and instead let out a scoff and roll of his eyes.

“For the Future? I wish for whatever that comes to come fast so I can get some entertainment around these parts.”

At her murmurs, he shook his head and chuckled. It was always thought aching questions and idle thoughts that got the conversation going; Sun wondering how most wouldn’t find company in a Witch such as herself. If there be a ruse, let it be farer along in their journey together.

“It ceased being public knowledge, eh? Well, if that’s to be true, then who knows what the Future holds eh?” He chittered, ears wiggling in amusement. “The Tale of Sun Wukong: A Journey Forward.” He joked.

“If I was dissatisfied I would’ve done something about it by now.”

He had not thought of the irony in the statement compared to his prior thought.

To be recognized and to be remembered were two different things. Sun was good with a person, perhaps even twenty, but hundreds, if not thousands? He would be overwhelmed. It was not due to anything in particular, he just had bad stage fright. If not then, he wouldn’t mind. Then, he could control the situation better. Play up that cocky, if not appealing, charm, and to dance around what he wanted to say and what he could say. Those moments, he would rather be remembered as the Monkey King, Sun Wukong.

“For a Witch I just met,” Sun had repeated, cheerily, as if nothing was wrong with the world they were in. “I find your input to be rather interesting to say the least. I never found someone who can talk such as you, that’s something to be proud of.” He meant no ill intentions with that statement, simply saying it out loud without thought.

He knew she meant well, and if it was true he’d be fuming, right? Usually, if you utter one disappointment of him, he’d scoff and tell you off; tell you were wrong. But he didn’t. He simply. . .Took it.

“I wonder, what are the tales about you or your Kind? Whisper that people tell, folklore passed down between generations? What is your story, however long or short.” He asked in return, a sly smirk coming onto his lips.

So, the pact marks themselves hurt when first put on (mainly for the human since they technically are being branded for their demon.) and though the ‘wound’ is sensitive for a bit after the pact mark is first placed.

The pact mark is often checked by your demon partner who gives it kisses nearly everyday (they don’t know you don’t get the same pleasure from it as they do.) you mistook it as them just being affectionate.

Touching their pact mark or your own garner the same reactions, they try to avoid letting you touch theirs as it is more…sensitive than yours is. Then can feel pleasure from both pact marks, you don’t need to be with them for them to feel pleasure from it. You could just trace a finger over the marking over and over, and your demon is shaking in place trying to keep their composure as you talk to them.

The pleasure it gives them is really strong, if you continue for long enough, they will cum. Demons obviously learn about this at a young age (before they are ‘allowed’ to make pacts.) and just think humans know too.

You could also hurt them by digging your nails into/bitting into the mark on either of you. People just think you’re nipping/scratching at the marking because it’s itchy while your partner is stiff as a board and on edge over what you might do next.

Pain isn’t as strong as pleasure when messing with the pact marks, though the pain is never explicitly explained (bc your partner refused to elaborate) but it’s enough to make a full grown demon bend to their knees, you’ve gotten them to beg every other time you punish them!

The pact marks only feel pleasure/pain between you two, though your demon is alerted if your pact mark is being touched by someone else (it tends to leave them feeling disgusted over the fact someone they don’t know is touching you so ‘intimately’, or at least your demon thinks it’s intimate) unless you both are close to the person they will be upset and act semi aggressively towards the person.

The mark gives different pleasure/pain depending what you do, pinch it? Your demon ends up jerking and glaring at you. Give it a slap? They instantly jump like they were actually hurt. Massage it? They practically go boneless (only if you two are alone) and tend to be a moaning mess. Lick it? Your demon it shuddering over it, they might even end up grinding against something to help relive themself.

If you have multiple pacts, they can ‘overlap’ in a sense that because the demons are ‘sharing’ a human, they can actually give each other pain/pleasure by playing with the other demon’s pact mark on your body. They can’t maki it work on the other demons body, only yours as your the human that has ‘bonded’ them.

With the ‘pact orders they can’t fulfill’ here’s a few examples. Ordering things like ‘please me however you think I want to be pleased.’ The punishment/reward isn’t given until you tell them if you like/dislike what they are doing. You could of course lie and make the pact do which ever you want.

The pact will act accordingly if you let it, meaning if you’re happy with your demon, it will reward them, if you’re mad at them, it punishes them. It’s always a nice way to let them know how you feel.

When giving an order, you can decide rather or not the pact will actually reward/punish them, however, you don’t need to say it allowed. The pact goes with your intentions, it won’t tell your demon wether or not they will be punished/rewarded. This is meant to force the demon to better comply since if they resist they don’t they might get punished.

Demons just want to please their Master, right?

With the punishment/reward situation, it’s much stronger on the ‘punishment’ end. The pleasure they get from the reward is dopamine, it basically just gives them a happiness boost. With the punishment, it hurts, but not severely. It’s like their entire body just got burned/electrocuted in an instant, it leaves no damage to the body as it’s a ‘phantom’ pain. The punishment also forces them to feel more…stressed? Anxious? Scared?

It sort of…gives them a painful surprise before striking fear into them and making the nervous/scared. It’s very brief since it’s intense for the demon, it’s highly recommended to use punishments sparingly as over using it can cause anxiety episodes/panic attack and you really don’t want to hurt them like that.

• It was at your camp when Diluc found out about your natural affinity to garner slimes.

• Both of you just finished exterminating Abyss Mages in Windrise so you two ventured back to the Dawn Winery. The bad part is that it was nighttime, so you and Diluc had to make camp. It wasn't rare for you two to camp out, but it was the first few times that you and Diluc camped out together.

• You two act like an old-married couple but in the wilderness. Diluc fixes up the tent and prepares the ingredients while you start cooking. As much as you wanted Diluc to cook his signature steak, you settled for a hearty stew. Sometimes, if Diluc is feeling lighthearted, he wraps his arm around your waist and kisses your temple.

• These were the moments that you treasured. You know Diluc had a tough time showing emotion and you were proud of him for taking the step forward. The fact that you have his arms around you is also a bonus, though.

• You two enjoyed the moment together, feeling his warmth as you spooned his food into his bowl, you heard the rustling of grass. Diluc tensed, summoning his claymore as he placed himself in front of you. You appreciated the sight of his crimson hair and broad back if not for the fact that the monsters that showed up were mere slimes.

• You giggled when you heard Diluc's sharp sigh through his nose. You set down the bowls and touched Diluc's shoulder. "Let me handle this."

• He watches you in mild interest, watching you go near the slimes. He nearly stepped in when the three slimes are hopping closer but he froze when he sees you pet the slimes like they were dogs. The three little Dendro slimes cuddled up to you like puppies at you cooed at them.

• Diluc watched, flabbergasted at the sight. You looked so... in your element that he wondered if you did this normally. It was only a few conversations about slime training that you did do this normally and that you actually owned a ranch with a lot of slimes that you corralled by yourself.

• He's honestly impressed by how efficient your ranch is. Each slime is corralled depending on their element and the secretions that they emit are all sold to the people who need it, more specifically Albedo who never seems to not run out on slime excretions. Your entire ranch is perfect that he can't help but be proud of how much you accomplished.

• If you allow it, he also commissions you to get slime secretions specific for his drinks. He would be remiss not to use these slimes to the fullest advantage. Of course, he pays you always in full whenever he does and you giggle when Diluc gives you a knowing look when people compliment his newest concoction.

• If you roped in Diluc in ranching, he'd be a walking stick. He'd be so frozen on the spot that you had to bite your lip to prevent saliva from going everywhere when you laugh. It was funny to see the man use a vacuum only for the Geo slimes to hit his face. You're always there to bandage his scratched face and the excuse towards people and Kaeya is that he got stuck fighting a finicky Abyss Mage.

• But Kaeya ain't gonna let the image of a Geo slime slamming itself onto his brother's face go anytime soon.

✧ Xiao

• He found out when he was chasing off demon-possessed monsters.

• It was any normal night where Xiao has to purge the evil in the land of Liyue. Some Hilichurls, some Mitachurls, even the run-of-the-mill treasure hoarders causing too much trouble, Xiao continued on. During this night, he was busy chasing the last remaining Hilichurl, using his Anemo powers to keep up with it. He was at a much closer distance now, his arm tensing as he readied to plunge the monster--

• Plop plop! The sound of cryo slimes bouncing up towards the Hilichurl. In a comedic twist of fate, the slimes started clumping up to the monster, leaving it a shivery cold mess at it stopped itself from how cold it was. Xiao gently lowered himself on the ground, looking at the sight with a blank stare.

• Hearing the sound of footsteps, he brandished his spear, eyes flitting over to the perpetrator before it turned out to be you. You were holding a geo slime in your arms as more slimes followed you like puppies. Your eyes widened at the appearance of Xiao with his brandished spear and a Hilichurl getting cuddled to hypothermia by your cryo slimes.

• "Hi, honey?"

• It took you an hour, the first few minutes are you trying to pry Xiao from killing the slimes when they got too close to you, to show Xiao that you have a natural affinity to train slimes. You showed him your ranch and all of the slimes that you've trained so far. Xiao was like a confused cat, eyes widening at each new addition to your ranch. He has to confess on how obscure this talent was, even for mortal standards.

• Still, it puts his mind at ease when he knows that you're safe with a bunch of slimes at your side. Even with their soft bodies and brainless... brains, Xiao knows that they'll at least be a distraction for you to run away.

• But still, to see you so content with a dendro slime as a pillow, watching your relaxed smile... He wishes he had more to his thighs to allow you to sleep on him instead. He grits his teeth every time he has to look at your sleeping form, with a slime underneath your head looking just as content as you are.

✧ Childe

• Out of everyone here, I think Childe would be the least surprised considering at some point, his younger siblings tried to ranch slimes only to end up frozen and sitting next to the fireplace. After a stern lecture from both his parents and older siblings, he can't help but think that whoever would do the same thing would be way too idiotic--

• Oh wait, you do it? Childe thinks it's the cutest thing in the world! Disregard the admonished stares of his younger siblings, saying that he was a simp hypocrite. He loves it and you!

• He enjoys watching you tend to the slimes like they were your own kids. He's like a little kid, watching his older sibling do something cool. If you were able to squint, you could see a little bit of a glimmer shining in Childe's eyes as you teach him how to take care of the slimes.

• Regardless, he's an excellent student. He picks up on how to take care of slimes fast to the point that he could've been your permanent helper. He handles all the heavy lifting, such as moving heavy toys for the slimes to play with, the feed that slimes needed, lifting you up in the air and twirling you around like you two are newlyweds (honestly, the image of you two settling down in a slime farm seems like the best thing Childe could think of).

• If possible, he asks if you can expand your ranch towards Snezhnaya where his siblings can watch you work. He can practically see his younger siblings' faces as you taught them how to care of slimes amidst the freezing weather. Even when Childe has to walk off the jabs that they've done to his side for falling in love with a slime rancher, he's still thinking on what ring to get.

• Remember that he's a family man and he wants to settle down at some point. Sure, he has an insatiable bloodlust but when you came along, the hunger for violence dwindled down. Each time he sees you regard slimes like they were your own children, each time you slap slime secretion on his face to instigate a play fight, each time you kiss him when he comes back from his mission; all of those things made him remember that he wasn't Tartaglia or Childe. He was Ajax, with a light in his eyes and a bunch of slime children to wrangle.

• Of course, he's still a child at heart, so if he sees you getting comfy with a slime pillow, bet he's gonna yank that slime from under you and replace it with his thighs. His thighs are packin', at least better than Xiao's, and you can feel them tense if you run your fingers over them.

• This is why you lose precious sleep and have Childe do all your chores for you. And no he gets no payment in kisses.

Why? His movies consistently over perform at the box office. While it is nice to have both,  if I had to choose, money over awards  and I am sure most actors feel the same. Awards don't  translate to mansion but consist box office success does

First off, I don't think we should really compare Tom to other actors. It may not take YEARS for Tom to be nominated for more awards like it took Robert Pattinson. 🤷🏾‍♀️ People are individuals, so idt career paths can always be compared Apples to apples.

I mean, Zendaya came from Disney and was known solely for that for years. Now, she's a two-time Emmy winner. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Sometimes it just depends on the project that someone has been part of, or sometimes it's who the person was up against that particular year. It's really hard to say.

All I DO know is that historically, (if we're talking Oscars), it's much harder for YOUNGER, attractive, popular male actors to win Oscars than it is for their female counterparts. 🤷🏾‍♀️ That's just the typical pattern I've personally seen. But maybe that might even be changing eventually in the future, who knows?

I also wouldn't say that "awards mean nothing in Hollywood". Ummm..... awards DO mean smthg! Even just getting NOMINATED can make you more "valuable" to a studio, and you can demand more money for your future projects. You usually get more interesting roles thrown your way as well.

Granted, there are some who end up getting the "Oscar Curse" after a win, but that all depends on what some are doing after they win, or what roles are being handed out to them.

But usually, having BOTH (money AND awards) isn't a bad gig at all imo lol 😆 😄

I don't think we need to undermine all the ppl who have received acting awards over the years for their stellar acting performances and act like "they mean nothing". 🥴 They obviously mean SOMETHING to actors since most want them, and if anything, it's just a huge honor that your peers felt that your performance was the best of the year amongst those nominated.

With that said, I don't think that not winning any awards makes anyone a bad actor either. 🤷🏾‍♀️ It's not a measuring stick of how talented someone is. There are plenty of ppl who are talented who have not won any awards at all.

BTW, Tom Cruise has been nominated before for Oscars (several times actually), and has even won 3 Golden Globe Awards, so I'm sure that those awards too also helped to contribute to his abilities to demand more money for his films.

It might take some actors some time to be seen as more of a "serious" actor if they've done "fluff" in the past, but all it takes is just ONE good role, and they'll be okay. 😏

I keep telling y'all... Tom is a straight, white man, (who's FOREIGN btw) in Hollywood... He is going to be OKAY lol. 😂 😹

I also notice that this type of "worry" seems to suspiciously come around any time one of his peers has garnered any acclaim, or when his gf Zendaya has any success. 🤔🤨👀

Y'all need to STOP comparing Tom with other actors or his gf, etc. He's not worried, and neither should you. 🤷🏾‍♀️ He's happy for Z's success, and the success of his fellow young actors in the business.
