Hello! Yes, I remember seeing your 5SOS blog in my notifs panel before! 👋🏻 Generally speaking, I'd say we don't get a ton of philosophical chatter around here, but I'm all for it! I mentioned this in my tags of the Ash Q&A from the other day, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I personally love when he goes on a bit of a philosophical or spiritual tear. I think there's something inherently brave about diving deeper into the way things are and questioning the world around you and I enjoy hearing people's thoughts as they go about their journey, and it's especially meaningful when it's an artist I admire because I think those conclusions definitely inform their art and vice versa. Obviously I love fandom but I'll be the first to admit it can often be a bit surface level (my blog in particular is proudly fueled by hyperbolic declarations of love and thirsty emojis) so any opportunity to dig a bit beyond that is always a welcome treat. 💙

INTRO. soooo..the blog hit 3000 followers a day ago which is like, still incredibly wild to me because as someone who was just an avid reader on tumblr i felt like the things i wanted to write, so few would enjoy and actually consume. and for the ten months ive experienced being a creator on tumblr, that seems to be such a popular mindset of people who want to write but haven’t written, the fear of putting in some effort and not have it returned back with love.

then i decided with all things considered, i would center this event around things you don’t usually see on the smut side of moablr (yes…yes i couldn’t come up with a better name than kink buffet). big age gaps, stepcest, tentacle, love making (vanilla but we don’t see it enough do we?), professor x student, hybrid, name anything and i’ll write it—hell, i’ll even write golden showers lol

117 on my main, but not all of them are fics and not all of the fics are written by me, or just me (some are fanbinding posts, some are fanart, some are collaborative works). including my other two accounts, we're talking 224 works in total.

on my main, 867,037 words, but that includes about 120k not written by me.

3. What fandoms do you write for? 

currently: Afdeling Q, BBC Shetland. though for the latest yuletide I went back to Volstovic Cycle for a stint and i wrote my first ever Ocean's 11 fic after years and years of only reading.

that's 4 Harry Potter fics plus one Avengers/Batman crossover I wrote in 2012 on a whim after seeing the Dark Knight Rises and which became unexpectedly popular for a bit. I still love that fic though:

5. Do you respond to comments?

yes, usually. I stopped responding to comments on my HP fic a while ago because I couldn't summon the energy to engage with them, and more recently I turned off all comments for HP fic so that I wouldn't have to bother at all. I'm glad people are still able to enjoy these fics, but I need some distance.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I've written some dark fic in the past and I think what comes closest is this old thing I wrote for HP nextgendarkfest back in like 2011, in which some of the nextgen characters (including Harry's sons) were criminals who staged their own murders to cover up a heist they did but it implies that Harry was on to them, nearly caught them in the act, and was devastated about it.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

almost all of them??? most of what I write has a happy ending because I want happy endings, damn it. if by happiest you mean 'least complicated' or 'unadulterated joyful' or something like that, then maybe...I don't know, god, I could name at least 50 fics like that just off the top of my head.

8. Do you get hate on fics? 

not in a while - I used to get some nasty comments on this one old HP fic that had a nextgen teenage character working out his sexuality, and some people took offense at the character being asexual/not being asexual enough/turning out to not be asexual in the end. like, make up your mind about what the problem is at least? I also got nasty comments on another HP fic which featured aromantic polyamorous Harry in a V relationship with Ginny and Draco (and Ginny herself was in a V relationship with Harry and Blaise) for various reasons, including but not limited to people not understanding that one can in fact be both polyamorous and aromantic at one and the same time. by the time i posted the everybody is trans HP fic I was anticipating nasty comments so I turned comment moderation on for that fic.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

sometimes. in the past I would include it (and hate writing it) because I thought you had to, but these days I only write it when I feel like it. more often than not it's some kind of character moment rather than a horny thing, though I do usually try to approach the smut writing from the angle of 'what would this character enjoy about having sex with this other character? what are their focus points? what are they horny for? what are their coherence levels? what are their sensitivities? how well do they know their own body? their partner's body? how do they communicate? etc. etc.' you'd think that leads to some very unsexy smut writing but if i'm honest i think those bits of writing actually wound up being both the horniest writing i've ever done AND the most true to character (according to my interpretation of the characters anyway).

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

a few - crossovers don't hold a lot of appeal for me in general, so when I've done crossovers there's usually been a 'what if?' spark that set if off.

aforementioned how to become a superhero fic, Avengers/Batman crossover, in which Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne are longtime friends.

it's pure filth that i hide (time for genocide) - Volstovic Cycle/Pacific Rim crossover (or possibly just fusion?). Volstovic Cycle characters pilot jaegers and fight kaijus, no pacrim characters appear.

Dragons - Volstovic Cycle/Harry Potter crossover (...or...fusion?) I can never remember the difference between crossovers and fusions. Harry Potter characters ride dragons á la Volstovic Cycle, no Volstovic Cycle characters appear.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes! the full list of translations (and podfics) of my fics is here. I've had fics translated into Russian and German.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

yes. @palavapeite mentioned this but we co-wrote an absolute deranged behemoth of a 'social media' fic (really, it was a 'livejournal' fic, but same difference) back in like 2008/2009 and it was honest to god some of the best fun I've ever had writing something and also, it was a work of ART.

I have since participated in fests like big bangs and reverse big bangs where I've written or made art, which is not quite the same as co-writing. I once ran a collab fest where I co-created a comic with three friends, which we cowrote and each drew various bits for, which was a lot of fun. and! with @gkkri we co-wrote (and illustrated) a R/S fic (but really it was a Sirius & Regulus fic in R/S disguise) back in 2017 as our last hurrah to the Remus/Sirius fandom as we were both feeling like we hadn't anything left to say for this ship and let me tell you, that co-writing process was like a dream and I'm still really proud of what we made.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? 

I don't have one??? I'm a multifandom person, I enjoy a LOT of ships for various reasons and I don't think I have an all time favourite? some ships I cycle back to over time and some ships I never even write for, just read a shitton for. like I enjoy Steve/Tony still even though I haven't written any fic for them in over a decade? and I mean, despite my misgivings about JKR and general HP fatigue, I will never not love Remus/Sirius. and so on and so forth. the beauty of fandom is that there are so many great characters and dynamics out there to love

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

er, wellllllll there's this one Matt/Foggy wip languishing in my gdocs drive that I'm not convinced I will ever finish, but I really want to. I'll cycle back to it eventually probably. I also have this one Space AU for Caius/Al that I have officially abandoned, but I still think about it!! and yet!! that wip is probably approaching a decade old at this point. I don't know man.

I only have one active fanfic wip atm and that is my current Afdeling Q wip and I WILL finish it, I swear to everything that is beautiful in this world.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I have a lot of strengths and I'm not too humble to admit it, but I think my number one strength these days is that I Do Not Care what other people think anymore, I will write whatever I damn well please, the way I want to. if other people like it: great! if they don't: okay!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

plot sjkdgkfljsgd especially of the crime solving variety. I will never ever be a crime fiction writer. I'm also not great with action-type of plots because....well, I like reading plotty stuff but when I'm writing? I don't care, I just care about my characters and their dynamics and arcs and development and I will hang it on the thinnest scaffolding possible I can get away with to make the story go.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? 

the kind of another-language-dialogue i see in fic most often seems to be weirdly pointless or out of character, just dropped in (usually by a monolingual English speaker) who thinks it adds flavour to the character, when really, that character has never once in canon slipped into their other language in dialogue. because, well, most multilingual people don't? speaking as a multilingual person I'm far more likely to say something like 'shit what is that called in English' than just say the word in Danish. i mean, tell me you don't understand codeswitching without telling me you don't understand codeswitching.

as a counterpoint to this actually i read a Buck/Eddie fic the other day where Eddie had lines in Spanish, and that I had no issue with because a) he speaks Spanish in the canon b) with his family 3) who also speak Spanish. in the fic he spoke Spanish with his family, who also had lines in Spanish. that author did kindly provide translations but tbh I didn't check the translations because the other thing about this fic was, it was clear from context what was being said without the translations because the dialogue followed canon-levels in this regard.

generally though, my preference would be for the tried and tested "A line of dialogue here," said character A, in Language. "The dialogue continues." it gets the point across.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

band RPF. before that I was writing fanfiction without knowing it was fanfiction or what fandom was, for stuff that Didn't End The Way I Wanted It To or similar. but first actual fandom writing? band RPF. it's backed up on a secondary ao3 account now, but this shit was first posted on forums and livejournal a billion years ago.

Eyyy tysm dude! Really appreciate it :'D honestly I'm really glad to hear that my works are a bit unpredictable loool IT'S A WARZONE IN MY MIND TO COME UP WITH CONCLUSIVE AND RATIONAL ENDINGS THAT ARE NOT TOO CLICHE--but I digress

I actually have never really gotten that question omg and it definitely doesn't bother me, no worries! I, too, like to know where ppl's inspo comes from so I gotchu B)

IT'S A GOOD Q THO LOL HMMM I know some of it must come from consuming so much anime/manga/TV/movies/books/TTRPGs/games/etc, and then gradually becoming pickier and pickier as I got older in regards to what media I like lol. I really like improv-ing and writing within a set world where there're established rules (which is why doing my own, original work can be tough sometimes). if I think a character concept or interaction is just absolutely PEAK, I glom onto it and think about it for 40 days and 40 nights frfr. That feeling of finding something that makes your brain light up with intrigue is like crack

I also think a lot of it comes from a desire to find ways to make things connect/work in-universe for whatever fandom I'm writing for, so I end up googling a lot and doing a lot of reading up on topics that I think I want to incorporate 🤔 I learn a lot about random things that I can add in and tie to future plot devices/elements/casual unimportant interactions or whatever, and the more i learn about random shite, the more I'm like "OOOH I can use that"

Ex: Divine Favour came about because I found out Sukuna was actually an entity from real af JP folklore (info here if you're curious), and I already had an interest in JP mythos/any mythology in general, so I did research on what yokai I wanted to go with for the reader (y'all ALMOST got a jorougumo instead of a kitsune LOL) and from there, I kind of just read a lot about that topic, and find out new things that I can connect back to JJK/ABO/whatever to make it feel more concrete and tethered and interesting to write/read. (I also did a lot of reading about EMPs caused by solar flares for Burning Bodies even tho that never got mentioned in the fic at all loool)

When it's NOT smth that I do a lot of reading for, I usually find inspo from people around me (mostly their careers/hobbies), and take inspo from my own life and hobbies and what not since I can write confidently about that (ex. acting, entertainment industry, PLANTS!!!!)

The smartest thing I've ever been taught in regards to art is that our own experiences is what makes our art just ours, if that makes sense. You could give 50 writers the same prompt, and the results would be different because of what they've all experienced in their lives that the others have not. It's really a cool way to view the expressions of others and to see how people differentiate and how they see the world and such :'D

1)What motivates you to write?

Mostly reading fantastic stories and becoming inspired with ideas about my own work. Also the people in my life like my sister who is also a writer; her vivid words inspire me all the time. I am also heavily motivated by my love of my characters, and a little bit of my guilt that I have not finished one of my novels (the first one) that I have been writing for soooo long.

2) A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)

Shared my own work from Bloodlines.

Every day she fought the wolf for control. Every day to stop herself from hurting anyone. The wolf was the worst, most animal parts of her, and most of those dark parts wanted nothing more than vengeance. To cause the chaos and suffering done to her. Before Eron and her suspension from The Order three years ago, that’s what she did. The wolf that now sulked beneath her flesh missed the blood. Every day it tried to take control, to turn her back into a monster.

3) Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?

Jackal Bellare from my WIP Bloodlines. He is always my answer because he is just so fun to write. He is that character that came fully formed. Nothing to change, nothing to define, he just appeared. He is a smartass, deceptive and manipulative. He at first is very selfish because he was forced to grow up fast and was abused by his father for many years. He pushed him to achieve his own goals and basically taught Jackal that no one would love him, not even his own family. So he grew up thinking he couldn't trust anyone and that everyone he met would be angling for something. He is also ridiculously powerful as a demon and can be impatient and even petulant. And he's classist too, thinking he's better than anyone who's not at his power-level. These are all fairly awful traits, but I love him still because I know the depths of his character and that all he truly wants is friends that he can trust, a surrogate family that actually gives a shit about him.

4) What process of writing do you enjoy the most?

I love the discovery/investigation phase best I think. Imagining the world and then researching and defining what I need to. I love to learn new things, and I always do in that stage.

5) What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)

I would say action scenes and dialogue are my greatest strengths. I can plot as well, but I am more of a character focused writer so most of the plots are pretty simple in concept and execution. I am also not too shabby with the NSFW scenes, but I don't write detailed smut. It's not my thing anymore.

6) What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?

Doing tag games! no really. I love answering questions and seeing other's posts about this stuff. I also just appreciate the vibes, everyone is very friendly and inclusive and it's refreshing.

7) A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)

Microsoft Word has always been my go to. I really appreciate the formatting and how easy everything is. It's also great for editing. I have also used fighter's block to help me reach my goals in a fun way.

8) A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)

I would say Pandemonium from my novel Bloodlines. This is the planet where demons live. I really just like the lore I have built around demons in general because they are inspired by lots of things but not tied to any real-world religions or mythology. Also in that story one of the types of demons are dragons (Draconem) and they have the power to shapeshift from their real form (dragon) to a human, and change their mass even. There are also these garbage disposal-like demons that have no heads and a mouth on their chest. These are heavily inspired by Blemmyes. I even have a separate dominion for Hell, which in my series is unusually referred to as Gehenna. The realm is a prison obviously, but instead of one place, or several levels like the circles, each Hell is a separate dimension governed by Warden that has a particular specially for punishment. I also have demons that are kind of like Valkyries, they are basically the law enforcement and are super scary even to other types of demons because they can make you tell the truth just by looking into your eyes. There are Demon Kings (which in my novels is a non-gender term, just go with it) and each one has a different rank and they serve as military leaders as well. They also have cool titles, like King of Slaughter (he's the war general and most powerful warrior). I could go on for ages. I spent a lot of time on the lore around demons because originally the novels were going to take place there exclusively and the main character was a Demon King.

9) What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

I usually step away for a bit, and look at it again later. Sometimes it sparks new ideas and even makes me appreciate what I have already. I would really just advise that you don't be too hard on yourself. It's better to go slower and work smarter, so you don't burn out and end up in an uninspired state of procrastination. Goals are important too, but don't compare yourself to other writers. Make goals you know you can achieve and set times and make space to work.

1) What motivates you to write? Usually it’s a single scene or piece of dialogue that I want to write. But in order to get to it, I need to write the rest of it, don’t I? And then I make characters and get obsessed with them and making them do sexy shit (such as drinking tea, overthrowing assholes, and falling in love), so it becomes a reward in itself. When I’m writing, I feel like I get to hang out with these characters, so it very much feels like being with friends.

2) A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)

(Blood and Thorns, chapter 6 - Please excuse my self-indulgent heart, I'm definitely not sorry about it.) They sat in the quiet for a few minutes, Razi’s face buried in Frigga’s hair with an arm around her waist, Frigga’s hand on top of it and her cheek leaning on Razi’s arm. They finally understood that they wanted each other, but there was no way to realize that dream. Razi wanted to take all the pressure away, to free this woman from her responsibilities. She prompted Frigga to sit up and with her free hand she moved Frigga’s single braid to fall over her shoulder, brushing the skin she found along the way. It was partially in comfort for Frigga and partially because Razi couldn’t resist touching her. It left part of Frigga’s shoulder and neck exposed. She wanted to kiss her, to hold her, to take her away from here if only for a heartbeat or two. So she did. Razi planted one kiss on Frigga’s neck, then two, and when Frigga turned her head slightly, she planted a kiss on her cheek, as if whispering a question. Frigga turned, answering the question. They touched lips, gently at first, asking each other over and over with their touch, do you want me? And over and over they answered each other: More than anything. They gently held each other, wrapped up in the moment, wishing the world was this simple, and for a few secret minutes they stole each other’s hearts. When they slowed and hesitantly pulled away, Frigga smiled as tears freely streamed down her cheeks. “I don’t know what to do.”

3) Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like? I mean, my main four OCs are like this (Frigga, Razi, Rosalind and Marcus), but I think Marcus makes me smile the most because he’s such a Good Boy. He’s the incarnation of my joy and what little social charm I have (apparently Libras are meant to be charming. I have yet to confirm this). Marcus is a sweetheart, a little bit oblivious, but very well-intentioned. He grew up with loving parents in a wealthy home, so he had a bit of a head start in life, but he knows that and does his best to help others when he sees them in need. Others think of him as a bit of an airhead and a bimbo, and maybe he had that phase of his life for sure, but he lets people continue to think that because it does give him an advantage. He can still be an airhead at times, but he’s a lot more cunning than most people realize and will do anything to protect those he loves. Anything.

4) What process of writing do you enjoy the most? Coming up to the finish line, when I can see all the work I’ve put in paying off and that I can be proud of it all. Like, omg I did this!?

5) What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay) I think being consistent is something I’ve been really good at. I write five days a week minimum, most weeks it’s six or seven. Not always what I meant to and not always what I expected, and it might not even be good, but most evenings I’m at my desk.

6) What is something in the writeblr community that is the most enjoyable? (Sorry I edited the grammar of this question, I had to) Honestly I love doing these tag games and getting to know people. I’m really quite terrible at reading others’ writing (I have a really hard time starting new media series in general because it’s an investment and I know that, if I get hooked, there goes the next year of my life a la The Locked Tomb) and I want to get better about it. These tag games really do help me get to know other writers and it helps me to know I’m not the only one that struggles during the process.

7) A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc) Text-to-speech is indispensable in my writing, I don’t know what I’d do without it. The software is built right into all my devices (because I’m an Apple slave, I know I know) as an accessibility feature and I listen to my own work over and over and over.

8) A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc) I feel like this is a cop-out, but I LOVE the Honeyshore Coven. We don’t actually see much of it in Blood and Thorns, but we see a LOT in the next one: Restructure. It’s such a weird mix of people that have almost nothing in common except magic working together (or trying to). I love how petty some of them are, how devious, and how oblivious they are. It was a lot of fun developing them and I can’t wait to share more of them with you. I’m hoping to start posting Restructure early next year. 💖

9) What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch? Write something else. Don’t give up but do take a break and come back to it. What I do is I have a folder full of short stories about my characters that aren’t in the books (they happen before, after or at the same time as the main story) and I find that it really helped me get to know my characters, how their relationships worked, and how the world functioned which helped me get un-stuck in places.

Hi, hello @bamsara) I recently stumbled upon your blog and I fell in love with your drawings almost immediately) Simple in appearance but very well detailed. The universe of your Cult story is very well understood. And then I found out that you also have a fanfic, I read ALL of it (two days in a row!) And I loved it! The way the humour, joy, fear and chthonic vibes presented and carefully intertwined so well!

I like how Narinder is gradually becoming more stable than he was before (one of my favourite moments is when he almost kills Leshy and then attacks Lambert without getting what he wants, then disappears into the forest and does the wild thing. At the same time he still thinks of Lambert and doesn't use his followers for snacks for the Fox).

And although I understand from the tags why Lambert treats Narinder with warmth, but so far his true intentions remain a mystery (both to us, the readers, and to Narinder. Although the latter may realise it, but doesn't want to admit it due to bitter experiences in the past). And this is not a minus, but a plus to the story!

The moment with the robbery of the Golden Cave is above all praise!) I vividly imagined the picture of Lambert with a bunch of gold in one hand running to the exit, laughing, and the other pulling behind them dazed Narinder, who was also on autopilot holding a bunch of gold).

There were other moments that I liked, but here I have to look it all up again, my memory is a bit fuzzy. (I remembered some things while writing this text).

I'll also attach some sketches of how I imagine Lambert and Narinder. I don't know if I'll be able to make them into "full drawings", but I wanted to share something already. (Plus a bit of angst came in towards the end, hopefully it's not too bad. That's roughly how I imagined Narinder's reaction to Leshy's disappearance.)

About Narinder's scythe. I'm not very good at English, so I introduced his scythe as Kusarigama. Probably because he also knows how to summon chains and I connected the two things together. I only then (somewhere in the middle of reading) decided to clarify the image of the word "Scythe" for myself and for a while my brain mixed these two images between the appropriate contexts for them, but then settled on Kusarigami again.

Another very interesting point with Finor. Yes, I read and realise she (he?) is a rabbit, but my brain gives her the image of a chicken from the Robin Hood animated movie. I don't know why that is, apparently they have similar characters (or so it seems to me). And the way she interacted with Narinder when he picked the lock to Lambert's room... very interesting! Such mysticism immediately appears behind that rabbit: is she immortal? Did she recognise who Narinder is? Maybe she was a follower of The One Who Waits like a very long time ago? All in all, a lot of food for thought!

And lastly, a little bit about "love". The tags in the fanfic's cover gave me some idea of what would happen and a little later, after about chapter 5-6 if I remember correctly, when Lambert and Narinder were alone together, my brain kept thinking "well, this is the right time for kissing!". Not that it interfered with my enjoyment of the reading, just thinking out loud. I only later looked at the Q&A to make sure you weren't stressed about fanart of your universe, and I share your view on NSFW content, and that Disney-like love in this story is preferable to just "love for love's sake" and other nonsense. (So far, the most intimate moment in the fanfic for me is Lambert gently bandaging Narinder's hands. And generally when they can just touch each other like that. It's a very soft and tender scene.) What is interesting is that from the moment when Narinder realises that he is in his dreams, his image for me changes to his game version, or even that he just becomes the same height as Lambert from his dreams. And it makes for such an interesting contrast between the "real" and "dream" Narinder, if you think about it that way.

Anyway, it was a pleasure to read your story) I can't wait for its continuation!)

And a bit more theories and speculations for the end. After reading the fanfic, I decided to look at your artwork again and so far I have one specific thought about how Narinder and Lambert might meet Shamura's "rebirth". Or rather, how she (he? not sure of gender again) would react to them. Given that she has head damage, I imagined that she might be reborn a bit half-witted and she won't realise at first what's happened to her or how it happened, as if she's stuck in memories of the past where nothing bad has happened yet. That said, she recognises Lambert, but she doesn't treat him with hostility. And I think if Narinder does try to deal her a killing blow, her half-empty, trusting gaze will make him lash out in rage at her statue, which is the only one left untouched in the arena. I hope I'm not rushing things too much, and I'd be happy to read any plot developments you have in mind for the characters in your fanfic ;з

Valuable Life Lessons Learned by 'Alone' Winner Alan Tenta

Last week, Alan Tenta, a high school teacher from British Columbia, won the 10th season of the popular outdoor TV series Alone by surviving the longest in a remote area of Saskatchewan. For 66 days, he lived in a tent he built out of sticks and moss, and he ate whatever he could hunt, fish, or forage. On Monday, we caught up with Tenta to talk about his life since he’s been on the show. We asked about what he learned from the experience since he’s had time to reflect, what the cameras didn’t show, and if he’d do it again. Note: This interview was edited for clarity.  Q&A with Alone winner Alan Tenta Outdoors.com: Besides the award money and some fame, how did ‘Alone’ change you? Alan Tenta: That’s a question I get asked quite a bit. I think that the biggest takeaways from the show would be how important family is — the importance of telling your family what they mean to you while they’re still around — and that we have too much in today’s world. We have more than we need. Outdoors.com: What do you mean by that? Alan Tenta: I mean material items. When you’re out there and you have all that time to think, you realize that all these material items that we have aren’t where you find joy and happiness. It’s family and experiences. Outdoors.com: Did you have that realization during or after filming the show? Alan Tenta: I’ve always kind of thought that. It’s always been on my mind. I don’t remember what day it happened, but probably at least halfway through the journey out there I just started realizing the family I missed. I can’t even think of a material thing that I missed. Outdoors.com: To paraphrase, the experience reinforced the idea that material possessions won’t make you happy. Alan Tenta: It reinforced what’s important. Relationships, love, family, and your health are important. I’m not being negative towards people who like material things, but I’m saying that happiness and enjoyment don’t solely come from material things. Outdoors.com: Even though you had a way to contact the production crew for help at any time — a sort of safety net — are you experiencing any trauma or anything like that from being isolated for so long? Alan Tenta: No, not really. It was nice knowing that you have that tap-out button, but also, that actually made it difficult knowing that it could end at any minute. You just have to press that button and your game is over and you can get reintroduced into your normal life. But no. We all chose to go through this. There were a lot of tough times out there, but I wouldn’t say I have any trauma. When I first came out, I guess, my first few nights back in refeeding camp, I did wake up in the middle of the night kind of feeling anxious about keeping a fire going. I got to heat up my rocks to put in my sleeping bag. So it took a while for my brain to re-adjust. I can only speak for myself. Up to day 50, it was generally a positive experience for me. Yes, it was difficult, but it wasn’t until the weather got really cold that you really had to push and grind through each day. Outdoors.com: Would you do it again? Alan Tenta: I think I would. Outdoors.com: I saw on your YouTube channel that you’ve been doing recaps of the show. I’m really curious to know, how did your storyline compare with what you actually experienced? Alan Tenta: So you’re asking if my edit was accurate? Am I happy with my edit? Outdoors.com: Yeah. Alan Tenta: Generally, I’m very happy with the story that my edit came from. You have to remember that we’re told to film eight hours a day and there are 11 episodes with 10 other participants, so they can only take a very small amount of what we filmed out there to actually make the show. We have to take that into consideration. But I’m happy with the story and the information that they showed. I have no complaints about my edit whatsoever. I feel it was a pretty good representation of my story and my actual experience out there. I’m very happy with it and how accurate it was. Outdoors.com: Was there anything you filmed that you wish made it into the show? Alan Tenta: Yeah. Lots. I mean, this comes up every year. There are some little funny things I did that I thought might make it. Of course, they can’t show all my food procurement. I think they showed me catch maybe nine fish, but I caught more fish than that. Outdoors.com: Was there anything that you didn’t film that you wish you had? Alan Tenta: Yes. One night . . . I had shot a grouse with my bow and I was down by the beach, sitting on some rocks, plucking it. I set up my camera and I went back and forth to make sure the shot was right. The sun kind of going down, it was kind of dusk, and the lake was calm and perfect. So I set up the camera again and sat back down. I looked across the lake and I saw ripples in the water like a series of geese coming towards me. What are those? I’m saying. Those aren’t ducks. So, they came close and then they disappeared. Then the Vs would come up again, and they got closer and closer. I was just sitting still on the shore and it turned out to be a family of otters. They didn’t see me. They swam right by me about 10 to 15 yards right in front of the camera. One of them noticed me. They kind of looked almost like a dolphin with how they were swimming with their tails. They went straight up in the water to see what I was and they made all these cool, almost like honking noises and then they took off. It was a really cool encounter and after all that, I’d forgotten to turn on my camera. I was pretty bummed out. Outdoors.com: Watching the show, what surprised you or what did you find most interesting about the other contestants or their storylines? Alan Tenta: Dude, that’s a tough one. What surprised me the most? I loved Taz’s canoe. I was impressed by Taz’s craftsmanship and the things he made. I was impressed by Wyatt’s gill net spot where he was able to catch those two monster pikes. I like the way that Cade and Luke were able to dig into the earth to make shelter. I don’t think there was a spec of dirt in my whole spot. It was just rock covered up in moss. What else impressed me? Just seeing everybody’s mental fortitude and how they pushed through things. And I was also impressed with Melanie’s foraging. Plus, she did really well without getting a lot of meat. Outdoors.com: You mentioned mental fortitude. How did you fight the boredom when you weren’t filming yourself? How did you keep your mind stimulated? Alan Tenta: I can sit for long periods of time and just be happy being in my thoughts, so that personality trait was helpful. But I also did some meditation research. My brother sent me some links and I listened to some people with some thought processes to help. One of them was suffering is usually short-term. So that month, I had the mindset of okay, I’m feeling this way, fight through it, and this whole experience will be over soon. I kept telling myself, ‘This is a rare opportunity. I’m extremely lucky to have this opportunity. I don’t want to waste it, so I’m going to push through those moments of suffering. They’re going to be over soon. And I want to go as far as I can, and I want to push my body as far as I can. I want to experience it to the utmost.’ I even wanted to feel what it was like to suffer. I wanted to feel what it was like, as weird as that sounds. Outdoors.com: Did you ever reach nirvana? Alan Tenta: No. (Smiles but no laughter) Outdoors.com: You touched on this a little bit already, but what was the transition period like from being alone to being with people? Alan Tenta: There was a very slow introduction process. That first night, it was just my wife and I, and then she flew back home the next day. And there was a very strict refeeding program. It was at least seven to 10 days of refeeding. You’re also slowly reintroduced to people back at camp. There weren’t very many people there because I was the last one. The person that got second — Wyatt — was there and we spent a little bit of time together. People are bringing you food. You’re getting a checkup by a paramedic a few times a day to make sure you’re all good. I guess the biggest thing for me was the noise. I wasn’t used to the noise. And when I was in a room with a bunch of noises around me, I felt almost overstimulated for a little while. And maybe a few little feelings of anxiousness. But other than that, it was a pretty smooth and easy transition. Outdoors.com: How long did it take you to regain all your weight? Alan Tenta: Just a couple of months. I was on a seafood diet. When I got back, I saw food and I ate it — total dad joke. Outdoors.com: What’s next for you? What do you want to do now? (sending it as an ask because I'm not sure if it was okay to reply to the post about kink directly since it was tagged personal, so you can choose to ignore it)

There's a lot of… equating discomfort with danger when it comes to this taboo. "It makes me upset, therefore it's bad" I'm not a kinky person, and there's a wide number of kinks that make me uncomfortable, but at the end of the day, those engaging in them are responsible for their own safety and don't hurt anyone else. I can just choose not to get in their business and go about my day. And it's also true that not being informed about kink and how to navigate them can lead to accidents (or, in some cases, bad actors taking advantage of more naive individuals). It's in this weird state where, after coming to terms with having a kink and living with it, you have to find people and a space where you can learn about safety, but it's not socially acceptable so that search is on your own. From what i've seen, there's a ton of emphasis on safety and consent, and the weird toxic dynamics have been from people who want the spice of kink but "ew not like them" so they never learn to do it safely. They never engage with a community. Though, well, I assume with the internet it should be easier to find that information...? hard to say.

Anyways yeah society is weird about physiological stuff sometimes, specially about sex.

And yea I absolutely agree with this! I think a big thing with all this as well is honestly just a matter of also like, "there's a time and place for everything but it doesn't have to be all the time and anywhere" it's something I often tell people when kink topics do come up. As far as I see it, discussion of such things being a huge social taboo does lead to a general lack of sexual knowledge and that can lead to potential harm. However, I also feel like the comfort of everyone (not just those who we may deem victims but yes, literally everyone) needs to be taken into account. As you said you're generally uncomfortable with such topics I wouldn't wish to openly or publicly speak on such matters in a group where someone such as yourself may be made genuinely uncomfortable with such discussion. Especially considering that we don't know the reasons for such feelings and could easily end up accidentally triggering a trauma response. I remember an old friend specifically going off about his enjoyment of rather extreme bdsm and as an abuse survivor who was literally stabbed for "misbehaving" you can likely understand that discussion of knives and bloodplay are REALLY not the sort of things I feel comfortable discussing. Unfortunately given the general acceptance of "hoho it is so hot if a girl could kick my ass" as a sort of kink, those sorts of things are often discussed openly around me and any potential protest from me is often ignored outright.

I was once told there was a fine line between understanding someone's boundaries and respecting them, and just being shut down for discussion of "taboo topics" which to be honest I disagree with, I think that line is pretty fucking thick, like thicc with two Cs and a Q. Because someone actually feeling uncomfortable due to personal history, emotional connections with things, or trauma and some pearl clutching Karen are two EXTREMELY different things and I do personally believe that if we are to move forward and accept sex topics as something not entirely disgusting and taboo we need to understand and respect the boundaries that others may set for themselves that come with that.

I do really appreciate the additional commentary on this, it's always nice to hear other's perspectives on this topic since I otherwise cannot learn where I may be wrong. Plus you're cool so like, you know it's always nice to hear from you

[INTERVIEW] 2PM'S Junho GQ Korea Magazine

Q: "My House Junho" is back. What' the most enjoyable thing you've done lately?

J: It's the moment right now. The weather is amazing. It rained all weekend. So it's been a long time since we have a sunny day.

Q: I know. I can also feel the bright weather. With the weather and Junho, how do you start your day?

J: As soon as I wake up in the morning, I do stretching for around 30 minutes everyday. I think this is very refreshing.

Q: This is your first interview since your army discharge. How do you feel?

J: Surprisingly, I feel comfortable. If there is a change, there will be a change. In the past, I feel that I must show something, but now, I am just looking forward to what I am capable of doing. I am very excited.

Q: Sometimes ago, you said you were sensitive and had a lot on your mind. I thought you must be worried about something.

J: Before I enlisted in the army, I was a little nervous. It's because I was worried about the hiatus. However, time has taken care of everything. Gradually, I feel more relaxed about it.

Q: That's a relief. During the hiatus, there was some good news. <MY HOUSE> that was released in 2015 became popular again due to YouTube and caused a trend of reverse popularity.

J: I often watch 2PM's performance videos. However, we have latest version of contents that allowed people who don't know about us to get to know, "This is 2PM". In that sense, I am thankful everyone who ha fun with all the content.

Q: Junho's <MY HOUSE> performance was especially popular. "My House Junho" became a term and many people were mentioning Junho's sexiness. What do you think of that image?

J: Ah... First, it was amazing. I didn't really mean it at all. I just did my best on the stage like I've always done. Now, I am getting a lot of attention but I am still puzzled by it.

Q: So it wasn't intentional?

J: For all <MY HOUSE> performances, I just aimed to work hard on stage. If this is intentional, my intention is to make people feel that Junho is always sincere about his dance performances. So except for the choreography, I tried my best to keep it simple. I didn't care much about my expressions and I didn't even look at the camera very well. Pretending to look sexy? Charming eye contact? I didn't even think about all that.

Q: Is that so? A lot of people must have misunderstood. Do you think you are sexy?

J: To put it into words... I am not sure about that but I do like sexiness. I'm not only talking about external charms. It's also having the desire to achieve something, be persistent and not easily giving up on something. Also, a mind that admit to your own mistakes and make your own corrections. If you have a mindset like this, I think is being cool and sexy to me.

Q: So this is why, "I just want to do my best in <MY HOUSE> performances"?

J: If that's how you see it, I think so.

Q: Yesterday, I heard that 2PM members were scheduled as a whole group for the first time after such a long time. While making plans for the future, any stories are coming out of that?

J: Let's do something right. Let's show something new. Let's do something others haven't done. There are different kinds of opinions. Actually, we always go back and forth during our comeback preparations. To tell you the truth, we have never gone too far from 2PM's capabilities and we try not to force ourselves into doing anything we don't want to. It's about what we have and what we can express at the time. Then, we just show you what we can do. That's what we did with <MY HOUSE>.

Q: When you think about it, 2PM's capabilities were different to other groups from the start.

J: To some extent, we want to show you something special and different in our directions but now that I think about it, it's a bit greedy. The best option is just to show who we are. This is what I think.

Q: Earlier, you told me that you are more relaxed than nervous. I think it's the same for all members who became more mature. In terms of the atmosphere for 2PM, what are the changes before and after hiatus?

J:Nothing has changed. It's true. As time goes by, it's the same for me, too. For members personally, there could be some big or small changes. However, the moment when the 6 of us get together again, we are going back to our old days. It's very noisy. When we are working we just want to talk to each other and never stop playing pranks, too. Yesterday, we got together after a long time, but it wasn't any different from few years ago. Sometimes, people ask me what's the best time while working with the 2PM members; it's actually he time when all members were packed in the waiting room before performances. Yesterday, I finally felt the atmosphere. I finally realized we are back as 2PM.

Q: After hearing that from you, I think 2PM's Junho and Lee Junho are different.

J: That's right. I can't help that there is a difference. People who knew me as 2PM can have this misconception on me when they see me as a solo artist. They will be like, "Why are you laughing? Why do you have a lower voice? Are you feeling well?

Q: Fans have given you the nickname of "Ambitious Junho." Do you agree with that?

J: Haha. I admit it. I really like the idea of having ambition. Some people may take it as a negative comment. People in general may see it as greed or desire in my dictionary, I see it as having a pure heart to achieve something. In other words, ambition is like multiplying passion by 100 times. Since I was young, I always have this idea. Passion times by 100 is ambition.

Q: That's cool. Is there such a thing as an ambition that you have not achieved yet?

J: For a long time, I have the dream of getting on the overseas stage. I still have this dream even now. I want to go to Hollywood.

Q: I remembered when you started to act, you were with your members?

J: In a past interview, I mentioned this once. As I debut as an idol member, it wasn't easy for me to show personal interest in other entertainment activities. However, it always turns out that there is something perfect for everyone. I used to try so hard in variety shows that it became a burden for me that I must show something. However, I didn't have to do that when I am acting. While I immerse into my character, I can purely fall into acting. I found my comfortable place in front of the camera.

Q: The name Lee Junho is no longer unfamiliar to me. So, I want to ask you, do you still think you are an idol?

J: Yes, I can be someone's idol forever. I think some people see me as an actor or as an artist. It depends on your point of view, how you want to see me.

Q: What's Junho's no. 1 priority?

J: I am not an idol nor an actor. My No. 1 priority is 2PM. I don't need to tell you why.

Q: Then, working as 2PM's Junho, what do you want to hear the most?

J: They're still something. They're still the same. Not a bit has changed. They're still cool. Straightforward compliments are the best. I would love to hear this. They're sexy!

I loved Quackity and Dream arguing after George's dethroning especially when Dream was just rambling and arguing only for Quackity to laugh and say: no, I disagree with everything you just said 😌 I honestly think that Quackity likes railing Dream up because it's funny for him and he likes arguing and debating in general so he just does it whenever he can, it's even by simple stuff like that one time on with George when they were playing all this broken games and during that one with operation he started saying things like "forget about Dream" or in that recent fnaf one when he went "oooh what would Dream say?" after he said George was blowing him kisses. For Dream it's also probably enjoyable and something new although also a tad bit annoying lmao usually people just don't have the energy to argue with Dream, don't care enough or just want to be a good sport like that one time in who wants to be millionaire stream that kinda robbed George and want to move on. Quackity instead has personality of someone who often likes having discussions while at the same time maintaining his playful attitude and isn't afraid to just... go no ❤ on the other person. Honestly I would love for George, Dream and Quackity to at some point play something like trivia about George so we get competitive q + d, George loving two simps trying to prove themselves to him, and q + d being simps cause we are talking about the guy who often takes it upon himself to prove how much he knows George and guy who proclaimed to love him more than Karl and sending him good morning messages every day

yes i also think q enjoys arguing with dream largely because he thinks it’s funny to rile up dream like that (and he’s right!) and also because he can—he’s good at debating for an audience (what i mean by this is even though his arguments can be...flawed, sometimes, he has so much confidence and charisma that he can make you side with him.) i loved their improvised ~verbal spar~ after george was dethroned because you could tell that quackity was enjoying arguing with someone as strong-willed as dream. and even if dream was taken aback (and probably annoyed) because it was completely unplanned, he held his own and sounded so passionate about it that (to me,) it was so much more fun to watch than his scripted villain monologues, where he’s so obviously overpowered (also by virtue of it being scripted) versus with quackity, where you don’t really know who’s going to win. they’re so evenly matched that they argued again a few streams after, iirc about whether the el rapids bunch were terrorists—and imo, dream had the better arguments that time!

quackity baiting dnf is interesting because q doesn’t seem to really like pandering, and doesn’t really put it as an answer in jackbox games especially compared to karl/bad. he doesn’t engage with stans much and called dnf a “low joke” he “doesn’t resort to” when they were playing skribbl.io, but he teases both george and dream about each other anyway, because he loves the reaction it gets out of them lol. i love that he just chooses to be annoying and succeeds in a way that is enjoyable to his audience <3

and totally agree with the george trivia thing aaaaaa like! i’ve been hoping for them to play fibbage on jackbox for ages because it’s such a fun game to play with friends and on stream (because your audience is invested in your personalities, humor and friendships) but they haven’t yet >:( dream flexes about his friendship with george so frequently that he’ll tryhard a fucking trivia game to prove that they’re Mega Best Friends, and quackity will use that against him and try to be as annoying as he possibly can lol. george would be basking in the attention the entire time and i don’t blame him!

No Time To Die

Alright, now for the long post. This was a good movie. It was not a great movie, but I had fun. It was a competent action thriller, it did nothing to really annoy me, and it had lots of fun little moments. Let’s discuss, with some very intense spoilers.

First of all, I gotta give props to this movie for knowing its aesthetics, something that the first two Craig Bonds really struggled with. This one perfectly commits to its own brand of dirty and gritty that still feels like a heightened reality. There’s exotic locales but they’re generally shot from street level; there’s almost no luxury here. That might not be very Bond-like in any classic sense, but it works perfectly for this movie.

Beyond the aesthetics, the movie is big on themes and meaning to stuff, and it generally works well. As the last movie of its era (and wow do they make sure you know that), it’s full of callbacks to older Bonds, weirdly enough Lazenby and Dalton specifically, and it deals heavily with the concept of legacy. Bond gets a successor as 007, and a daughter, of all things. The question of “what’s life after Bond” is explored in a lot of detail. Seeing him in M’s office with a visitor badge is just delightful.

(And yes, giving him a five year old daughter sounds corny, and indeed it is. But it is the kind of corny that works in the heightened reality of this movie. I wouldn’t say they handled this sub-plot super well or interestingly, but it was perfectly okay, unlike all the weird “family” stuff in Spectre.)

That said, there are definitely limits to how far the themes and meaning really go. Yes, he does get his successors, but we don’t really explore what impact he has had on them. His daughter gets no character at all, and the new 007 grows warmer towards him, but she doesn’t seem to have been influenced by him in any meaningful way. I feel like that’s okay in the finished product, but this is also something that could have been even more interesting if they had been willing to go there and maybe flip fewer Land Rovers. Everybody likes a Land Rover being thrown on its roof, but after the fifth one (count them!), it gets a bit old.

This movie produces a very human Bond, which has been a core theme of the Craig era of course, but I would argue that this and Skyfall are the only ones that actually succeed. Bond is still not a particularly interesting character with a lot of depth, but this movie knows that, and instead pairs him constantly with colourful more interesting supporting characters that really make him shine. His relationships with Felix, Paloma, Q, Moneypenny, M, 007 and so on are all a lot of fun, and all very distinct and interesting.

In return, this is easily the weakest Bond villain ever by far, and I’m okay with that. This is a rare Bond movie that is really nota bout the villain or even about set pieces, but about character development, and it makes sense for the villain to take a step back here. That means the movie does have the classic Marvel problem of charismatic heroes (or here support characters) and utterly forgettable villains, but it’s a trade-off that the MCU keeps making for a reason.

If there is one part of the movie that really drags it down - a bit, it’s still perfectly okay - then it’s Madeleine.

At its core, this movie isn’t Bond, it’s Madeleine’s. The villain, in particular, does not actually have a relationship with Bond, despite a particularly weak attempt at a “we’re not so different you and I” thing at the last moment. The two men are only connected via Madeleine. Her relationship with the villain is meaningful and is the literal start of the movie; it’s what drives the plot. At the same time, her relationship with Bond is the emotional core of the movie, even if he does get quite a bit of subplots of his own.

I think that’s a great choice in theory. Compare this to Days of Future Past, an X-Men movie where technically Wolverine is the main character, but he’s really only here as a tour guide through other people’s arcs. This is the perfect way to make a Bond movie actually about something. Other Bond movies have tried similar things, of course, but this one takes it to a new level.

The problem is that Madeleine’s relationships with these two men don’t actually work that well. Her relationship with Bond was set up in Spectre, and even though I watched that movie, I cannot remember anything about it. What little I see here doesn’t really work for me. Yes, she’s pretty, he’s Bond, they’re in an Aston Martin on Italy, you know the rest, that’s good enough for an opening. But it doesn’t go beyond that. I don’t get the impression that there’s any actual intimacy here. They don’t seem to have anything in common, and they don’t seem interesting on screen together.

This is especially notable towards the end of the cold open, where Bond flies into a full-Connery style rage mode and goes essentially, “what did you do, you silly untrustworthy little girl”. Not gonna lie, I found that very uncomfortable. If that’s how close they are, then I fully support them breaking up. Their break-up definitely did not feel like the movie’s defining tragedy.

A good comparison might be Franka Potente in Bourne Identity 2. There’s a very similar setup in that movie’s opening, but it actually works, and I actually buy their relationship. This is not the case.

A related issue is that Madeleine’s main agency in this movie is choosing to lie to Bond. She does not tell him about her tragic backstory, or how that could have led to people shooting at him, or her daughter, or that she’s being blackmailed. Now, I think it’s perfectly valid for her to do so. If she doesn’t trust Bond enough to tell him this, that would be interesting and I’d definitely believe it. If she’s too traumatised, yeah, I get it (that seems to be what the movie is going for but it doesn’t really commit to this). But the movie doesn’t establish anything like that. She lies to him, well, just because, I guess.

Her relationship with the villain (yes, I do not remember his name, well spotted) is a similar waste of potential. The two don’t really talk. He is fascinated with her because… he didn’t kill her that one time, I guess. But this isn’t explored in any way. Meanwhile, her relationship with him is that he threatens her and her daughter, and she’d like for that to stop. For all the weight this relationship has been given at the start of the movie, it doesn’t actually end up going anywhere once they meet. And that’s particularly notable because she is a psychoanalyst; the opportunity for her to explore what makes him tick was right there.

I’m making this sound worse than it is. It’s still perfectly enjoyable. But I feel like there’s a hypothetical extended cut of this movie that’s three times better, where Maddy gets five minutes of screen time to just talk with the men, and where she actually makes choices about what she tells them and why.

The final issue is that the theming, already not super strong, breaks down at the end. The movie actually seems to think that there is a sort of meaningful parallel or connection between the villain and Bond, and even goes for a particular deep and meaningful plot point where Bond can’t be with his family because he’ll literally kill them if he touches them. You know, he’s a killer, he brings death to the ones he loves, it’s what passes for a metaphor in these parts. Except textually speaking, that’s just not the case. Felix was killed by someone who Felix dragged along, and the villain here was after Madeleine, not Bond. He is 100% a force for good here.

Is that a huge problem? Nah, but again, it’s something that could have been better.

The real main problem with the movie is something else: Throughout the film, it is clearly established that explosions don’t harm James Bond, they just disorient him. It starts at Vesper’s grave, then Felix’s ship gets sunk, then there’s the hand grenades in the video game section in the final bunker, and it’s always absolutely clear: Explosions may stun Bond, but they don’t actually hurt him. Only bullets can do that.

And then they go and kill him in a huge explosion. That’s just sloppy foreshadowing.

ABC headcanons part 2. Doug Greenman

His relationship with Evie will be included with this seeing as it makes no sense to me to not include it if you know what I mean

A = Aftercare (What they’re like after the act). Doug is very attentive after the act. He’s got a mini fridge stocked with water and snacks. And thanks to some inner house tweaks they’ve got a self cleaning “macrame room” made specifically for their sessions so they don’t need to worry about cleaning up the bed. At least not often.

B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s). Doug takes great pride in his hands. They’re very skilled and very fast. And he loves Evie’s smile. Especially when he’s the cause of it.

C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically). He’s not a fan. He’s doesn’t like the mess. But fortunately the macrame room takes care of it if there’s any unforeseen messes

D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs). The macrame room is their own secret. Though thanks to Jay it’s more of an open secret. But the contents of the room is still under wraps. So it still counts

E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?). Very experienced. Between research and the many times he’s had the actual act itself Doug is very adapt in all areas of intimate affection

F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying). Doug likes to stand up straight and hold Evie up. As in. Standing up straight and holding her up in the middle of the room. It’s Evie’s favourite position too

G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc). Oooh. Doug is very serious in the heat of the moment. Very focused on what he’s doing. Evie finds it to be incredibly attractive.

H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.). Beneath the suits and the bow ties and the ardent professionalism. Doug is a true wild man. He’s only ever shaved his face. The rest he allows to grow freely. Just like all dwarves

I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…). Doug is definitely a romantic. Despite their exploits being enough to make even the most coarse person on earth blush and faint he tries to make the experience as romantic as possible. And he’s always successful.

J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon). He’s not adverse to it. And he’s had a lot of personal experience. But he prefers the a actual act to the solo act by.

K = Kink (One or more of their kinks). They both like it when Doug shows off his impressive strength. Hence their favourite position. He likes calling Evie “princess”, “my queen”, “your majesty and “your highness”. And he likes it when Evie refers to him by a certain paternal honorific.

L = Location (Favourite places to do the do). Their “macrame room”. It’s private, soundproofed and fully equipped for all their needs.

M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going). The aforementioned honorific. Teaching Evie how to build a cars. Certain dance routines. Massages.

N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs). There’s no way on heaven, earth or hell that he will do it on a magic carpet in flight mode. The royal jet is more than enough. And he doesn’t like being called royal titles. It just doesn’t appeal to him

O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc). Doug is a giver. And a very generous and skilled one at that. He’s also big on receiving as well. Evie’s just as talented as he is

P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc). He likes to go slow and powerful. He only goes fast towards the end of the session

Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc). If they absolutely have to then Doug is fine with a quick one. But he and Evie both prefer longer sessions

R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc). Yes. Hence the macrame room. And the cloning machine set to Doug’s DNA. And the invisibility spray Evie made so she could surprise his at the office. And the little green pills they made to enhance their experiences with each other. Etc etc. Each and every new addition to the room, including the room itself, was and experiment and a risk that paid off beautifully

S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…). Doug can last up to four hours nonstop. Wether it’s continuous or split up into rounds is up to how he’s feeling. But it’s never less than two rounds a session. For her part Evie is very good at keeping up

T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?). Yes. All situated in the macrame room. All used on Evie. Except for the cloning machine. That’s used on Doug for Evie’s benefit.

U = Unfair (how much they like to tease). He mostly uses teasing as payback for Evie teasing him. So if she sends him a selfie when he’s in a meeting. He sends her a very loud video with a caption saying something along the lines of “not tonight” when she’s sending out the to bed delivered. Don’t give out what you can’t take.

V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make). Doug mostly grunts and growls. Evie screams in enjoyment. Doug gets louder as he reaches the end. Evie tends to cuss in German

W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice). He’s the one to suggest they start recording their exploits on film. Evie was very enthusiastic about that suggestion

X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words). His smart trousers hide some very heavy duty equipment. That he and Evie both know how to handle. He may not be royalty but he is definitely king sized

Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?). He hides it better then most bit he’s always ready for it when Evie asks. And that happens to be once a day minimum.

Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards). He only falls asleep after he’s cleaned up and made sure that Evie’s alright. So around 5-10 minutes. More if they need to tidy up the macrame room

I thought I would try changing up my usual introduction.

 Hello everyone, Thank you for work hard again today. I’m Nogizaka46 3rd generation member Kubo Shiori.

My hair is curled.

The other day something fortunate happened.

When the makeup artist was finished hair spraying my hair the can (big size) was empty. The last person that giant can of hair spray was used on was… me. Isn’t that lucky? It rarely happens (‘._.`)

 First off, I want to look back at what has happened recently. Thank you so much for the 5th Year Anniversary Birthday Live.

The 3rd generation members all stood on that stage while considering the significance behind why we were given these songs to perform.

The emotions and the scenery I had from that stage is something I will never forget for as long as I live. More than anything, seeing all the 3rd generation member towels, pen light colors surprised me...I was overjoyed. I’m a very fortunate person. Thank you.

We also did a recording for the 3rd generation song 「sanbanme no kaze」off the 17th single. Surprise…and joyfulness… (You’re probably thinking that those are the only two emotions I have, I do have a lot of other ones…) At any rate this is something I’m thankful for. The wonderful lyrics and melody, this song will forever by important to me.

I was also nervous because this was my first time doing a PV shoot, but I thought that each shoot was done with care. I received the help of many people and as my first ever shoot I was able to make it an extremely meaningful experience. Thank you very much. I want to see all my fans again. ·         Which do you like more sweet or spicy?

I like food. Recently I’ve been enjoying sweet foods!

·         Are you good or bad at physical exercise?

You probably thought I was bad at physical exercise didn’t youuu~ but that not true at all! I’m average. This year on my first sports test I was awarded an A rank!

·         Do you cook? What food is your specialty?

I may look like I do and I doo~ It makes me happy to hear my family say “delicious” after they finish eating my food.

My specialty food is…it’s hard to say, when I was younger it used to be omurice (‘._.`)

Currently my specialty is probably a type of sweet… I’m always making sweets.

·         In your middle school club, what was the toughest club activity?

Most likely the stairway dash (‘._.`) I was always sore the next day. After that was the zoo warm up (‘._.`) Duck, Bear, Seal, crocodile, , , nostalgic memories (‘._.`)

·         What are some events made a lasting impression for you from Nogizaka under construction?

There are a lot of events but, Hori Miona’s「ikimana onna」line from her version of Wakatsuki Yumi’s Hashi kun was funny! (TL note: you can find an ENG sub version on YouTube).

Speaking of Miona san, at the concert she came to talk with me. She also put up a picture of me on her blog…thank you so much. Yamazaki Rena also posted one on her blog. Thank you very much (‘._.`)

Honestly, I feel shy when meeting new people, when the senior members came to talk to me, I got tongue tied. I feel guilty… I wonder if that’s why people may think things like “Kubo is hard to approach isn’t she” I’ll continue to reflect upon my weakness from the shadows.

I honestly couldn’t speak. I also have a quiet voice… Ever since I was born I’ve been a lost cause…Despite my flaws the senior members are still nice to me. I want to talk more with the senior members about various things but because of my personality it’s probably won’t be enjoyable for them…My personality is something I need to change (‘._.`)

·         I burned myself…

Are you alright!?!? Please make sure to treat it properly so it doesn’t leave a scar (‘._.`) Pain, pain go away~ While I was saying that I um… also burned myself (‘._.`) I was half asleep and I…burned my neck with a hair iron… out of all the places it could’ve been why in such an obvious spot…I will reflect upon this mistake.

·         Are there times where you are picky or obsessed about your fashion?

Umm… well, I wear what I like without fussing over the brand. Recently I’ve been liking unique clothing~ Heading into spring I’ve been buying yellow and pink colored clothes. Renka told me “You’ve become more stylish lately” I’ve decided I want to wear more and more different types of western style clothing. I’ll do my best!

·         Can you see the towels and penlights from the stage?

Of course I can see them! Every time I spot one it makes me happy. I have some good news! Because my eyesight has gotten worse my contact lens strength has gone up, this means that I can spot everyone even easier than before! Allllright, from one end to the other I’ll find you all!

 ·         Why were you crying together with Nakada Kana san in the dressing room?

On a silent Friday, my name was brought up by Nakada Kana san. Thank you very much (‘._.`)

First of all, she did not make me cry!!! There is a reason for why I was crying… The first time we started practicing for Principle was a time where I had anxiety over how things would turn out going forward. Then Kana san came and talked with me… we talked a lot about her personal stories from her Principle performance and the future. The details are already….. I’m crying. I wonder if I can become stronger…Can I really keep at it…What should I do…. These are the insecurities I showed in front of my amazing superior. (‘._.`) I am extremely grateful to Kana san (‘._.`) Thank you very much.

 ·         Are you someone that eats a lot?

Yes I am! One of my favorite phrases is, I want to eat____. Just the other day, for lunch, I ate bread, rice and beef stew. For dinner I ate 30 gyozas. After that I had waffles and strawberry daifuku. Oh I also had ice cream. I have a bottomless stomach. (from the title of my blog two blogs ago ‘There is no limit’)

·         Do you like bread?

I do!!!! For a while I was addicted to bread crusts, and I ate them plain. I would eat them while waiting for practice to start!

 ·         What is something you’ve been addicted to lately?

Yogurt with soy flour on top!!! I’ve been way too addicted this pairing. I could put roasted soybean flour on anything.

 ·         Favorite ice cream flavor?

Matcha!! After that is Soy flour!! Eastern style ice cream flavors are ◎ but as expected I can’t choose between them (‘._.`)

 What been going on recently? Speaking of which, I’m going to start with some of my worries. My shyness has gone too far, so far that I’ve had troubles taking pictures with other members. However, I know that a lot of fans are waiting and saying “post pictures with the other members!”… For my fans I plucked up the courage and I took my first ever three-person selfie since joining Nogizaka46.

This should be a commemorative picture. Miichan, ririan, Tsuki Taro san. Thank you so much. I hope we continue to get along. 

(TL note: I’m not sure what 月太郎 (tsuki taro) means. After some research I found that 太郎月(taro dzuki) mean first moon of the new year, so she might just be calling herself a newbie).

Next, in Manatsu san’s blog, she was asked about which member she would want to be her little sister… In her answer she wrote about me…Thank you so much, Manatsu san is so kind. On the day of the 5th Year Anniversary Birthday Live I apologized to Manatsu saying “I’m really sorry for doing ‘zukkyun’ in Girl’s Rule during Principle” and Manatsu san said “no no, it’s completely fine! If anything, I’m glad that you did! Thank you so much!” Manatsu san is so kind isn’t she (‘._.`) Thank you so much for being nice to someone like me.

Guess what, guess what, Because I I was completely sold out for the handshake event another time slot has been added. Thank you very much! I am very, very, very, VERY happy… For everyone that will come see me I’ll make sure to give you a good time.

“I’ll never be able to forget this! I want to go again! I’m cheering for you!” I’ll do my best to give you these kinds of feelings. More than anything let’s enjoy ourselves. I’m really excited to talk to everyone! I wonder if I’ll see the people I met at the meet and greet again? I’ll be waiting for you!!

 Today, for the first time in a while something happy and enjoyable happened. I was also able to make unforgettable memories.

 There’s so much I want to say but this blog has already gone on for so long… I have been told before that I really like photography and I really do. That’s why when everyone gets a hold of the new magazine I’m in I hope to bring enough interest for them to say “wow who is this girl?” I’m making sure to not slack off in order to be the kind of person that stands out in a crowd.  

Just because you work hard doesn’t mean everything is going to turn out the way you want it to, but if you don’t put in the work then it definitely won’t.

I don’t want to be someone who is all talk and no action. I want to be someone that even though they say big things they can make them into reality. Yet even though I say that I don’t have enough confidence to talk about my own dreams. I’m a coward. I will change. I will change even more.

 In the last blog I received a lot of comments giving me advice and so I based my writing for this blog on that. The opinions that I saw most in the comments were “don’t be so stiff! Relax a bit!” Thank you very much. That’s why I decided to try and make a more relaaaaxed blog this time. What do you think?

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

My hcs on this have already been stated so i’m sorry if this is kinda repeat, but Tobirama lovessss being able to have long talks with his s/o. He loves debating you and both of you sharing your knowledge with each other. It’s stimulating and enjoyable for him. 

He loves when you two have some quiet time to read, curled up next to each other with cups of tea. Silent quality time is very important to him. 

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

He admires your strength and your mind. He loves that you can hold your own, both mentally (and possibly physically as well) and loves your independent streak in you. You can make up your mind, get things done and are very bright. All things that Tobirama holds incredibly highly in people he associates, and especially with you.

As for physically, he loves your hair. Playing with it is a destressor for him, and is incredibly calming. When you hug, he loves running his hands through it. He also low-key lovessss your legs. He’ll always pinch your thighs very affectionately and you can catch him staring when you wear something a little more revealing.  

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Tobirama is a very traditional guy, he likes to take things structured. So marriage, once he’s serious about your relationship is definitely on his mind. 

He’d propose on the anniversary of when you’d officially started dating, or if he can remember the day you two met. There wouldn’t be much fanfare, but the two of you would definitely be alone. If he could swing it, he’d try to get you to go on a day trip and take you to the seaside, getting down on one knee on a cliff overlooking the ocean with the sound of the waves crashing in the background. There wouldn’t be much of a speech, he’d simply ask, “Would you spend the rest of your life with me?”

Marriage with Tobirama would sometimes not be the easiest. He can be stubborn and unyielding, often cold. But if you can get past this and be good at compromising without completely conceding to him, you two will be fine. You have to get used to his routines and regiments, get used to the fact that he gets engrossed in his research and later will have to deal with him running the village, but marriage with Tobi is rewarding. He can be incredibly sweet in private and you’d always be learning new things. He isnt much of a cook, but he’ll help you clean house bc he likes things tidy. If you want children, you’ll be the one to have to bring that up, but he’ll definitely come around to the idea with some convincing. Even with him being stubborn on things, if it’s for you, and he knows something is important to you, he’ll often come around on things. You just have to keep on him.

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

He’s incredibly calm and pragmatic. Because of this, he’s great at rationalizing various situations, and his calmness makes sure that most fights are mitigated and just general discussions. Most things boil down to logical discussions with him and therefore your relationship with him is pretty smooth. 

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

He’ll know his partner inside and out. He’s incredibly inquisitive and when he’s serious about someone, he wants to read their soul like a book. He wants to spend hours exploring every inch of your mind, gathering your opinions on every possible topic and memorizing your past. His empathy level is in question. If something’s wrong, he’ll ask you to explain, he’ll help you fix it, but he won’t be all gushy and tell you everything’s fine if it isn’t. he’s a realist, he’s not down to pander to your every mood swing. He’ll tell you how it is, and if you happen to be in the wrong on some situation, he’ll tell you. He’s not gonna baby you, and while he’ll help and support you, he’ll push you to fight your own battles and to solve your own problems with the strength he knows you have.

He’s honestly not the most outwardly affectionate person ever. His idea of affection is holding your hand in public, and that’s honestly pushing it. He only likes to kiss or cuddle when you’re completely alone in your own home. Otherwise, he’s not about it. He does like to take your hand and kiss your knuckles. Cuddling only comes at night when you’re getting ready for sleep, he’ll hold you close, his grip around your body almost too tight and he buries his face in your hair. It’s only moments like these where he’s ever vulnerable. 

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

Not incredibly well. He’ll spend ages trying to keep his s/o from his mind, banishing all other thoughts and putting his mind to whatever he’s doing. You’re a constant invasive thought in his brain however and no matter how much time and energy he expends to try and not think about you, he can’t help himself. He especially hates when he’s away from you at night. It just hits him that he’s not sharing a bed with you, not feeling that familiar warmth next to him. He has an incredibly hard time sleeping because of this. He copes by throwing himself that much harder at whatever it is that’s driven him from you, whether it’s because he’s on a mission or some diplomatic trip, he’ll try to get it done as fast as possible to get back to you. He’ll never admit it, and no one will realize his motives for doing everything as quickly as possible, but he misses you and can’t stand another night away.

Yes, absolutely. He’ll go to the ends of the earth for you. He’d do some questionable things if it’s to keep you safe and sound. He needs you in his life and he’ll do anything to keep you by his side. Whether that’s using his political power or his incredible knowledge of jutsu, he’s making sure that you’re always safe and right next to him, just where you belong.

Idk if you agree but I’ve noticed how so many people’s enjoyment of Tsurumi hinges on how hypothetically gay he is (I only observe twt fandom). Like even after 267 basically confirmed that both the stuff with his wife AND the bigger picture/everything he’s presented beforehand both matter to him people are ignoring that and complaining that his whole motive is just ‘het manpain’. I feel like if his wife was male they’d feel differently (I hc him as bi but it doesn’t matter to me that much).

not that there is anything wrong with the way they enjoy things!! these people are just not my cup of tea and i prefer to avoid them rather than get involved in arguments. fandom culture just got kind of insane in the last few years because back in my day we enjoyed our sexuality headcanons and ships while being fully aware that in the actual product everyone is straight by default and respecting the author’s choices aka not screaming q-word baiting when it turned out that Indeed. Heterosexual. saved us a lot of disappointment too! now though they expect authors to comply with their insanity for some reason? and in western media they can go on twitter and bully authors when they mess up but what are they gonna do about manga huh. nothing. to each their own though, not that they’re hurting anyone with this. while i do reserve my right to disagree with them, i generally don’t care how other people enjoy characters, it has 0 impact on my enjoyment whatsoever. i don’t go on gk twitter though so i imagine that if you’re a truther seeing this day in and day out must be annoying.

as a footnote i read tsurumi as a heterosexual king and always have, even before the hasegawa reveal. never struck me as anything else. he is absolutely aware of how attractive and charismatic he is, and he’s absolutely weaponizing his charm and seducing men that’s for sure, but he has never expressed personal interest in any of his victims. he worked on them as long as they could be useful to him, exploited their talents, monopolized their loyalty, and discarded them when they’re no longer malleable. in all of his relationships he’s the one who is in control, the one who leads, the one who uses, the one who touches, the one who changes. he’s never shown vulnerability towards his subjects. which is why i think that he’s aware who is attracted to him and is not above teasing and flirting and baiting when it could get what he needs but would never let any of them get actually close to him. reverse lesbian femme fatale? part of his manipulations and why his brand of cruelty is so great.
