I feel like you will most likely adopt a child who was turned into a vampire during a mission, immediately taking the role of a caretaker and forcing Alucard to do the same

The first couple of days or months he wouldn't really accept the role of the father figure

It would take a lot of convincing from your side for him to even stop trying to get you to stop parenting the child

He sees himself as someone who failed as a human, who willingly became a monster and he is very aware of his nature, Alucard can't comprehend how you can even think about him in such a positive way

But he will eventually comply in his own twisted way, maybe after your child has proven that while they can be a creature of the night, they still have some sort of humanity in them

maybe the child drank blood from an animal but is still compassionate to other people

Alucard loves and hates the child's innocence at the same time

He sometimes teaches your child how to control their vampiric powers, but it will mainly remain your responsibility (he's afraid the child will take too much after him)

He will definitely tease you a lot about your parental tendencies like "Where are you going? You know, you can barely handle one"

Despite this, his love and respect for you increased even more than before, again because he seems to value determination, will and courage

Alucard will definitely bring the child on a mission, maybe on one who isn't so bloody as usual. If you aren't on board with this he will do it in secret, unless you talk to Integra

Integra will command him to stop until the child has grown

The vampire does have his dad moments, trust me

He melts every time he sees you and his kid having a moment

If somebody other than a few range of specific people dares to comment about you two in a bad way, that person will either be traumatized for life to straight up killed

Alucard will play a lot with your child, he isn't far from teaching him how to transform and many more

Those two will prank soldiers in the most unhinged way

The child will love horror and adventure movies with extreme violence in the future, trust me

But, given how Alucard is one of their main caretakers, they will also become violent and mess with people on purpose (Alucard will either be entertained or curse himself because of this)

If something happens to the child, BLOOD WILL BE SHATTERED

He will have no mercy on whoever even looks at his kid in a weird way

(in Ultimate) Seras and Pip would be more than happy to help with babysitting, and the overall process of taking care of the child, more Seras actually, but Pip finds a good opportunity to get closer to the vampire

In the end, both of them will become extremely attached to your kid

Integra will remain distant, but it is clear she also cares a lot about the child, often forgetting they are a vampire

Walter will provide with the necessities but won't be extremely involved. But he will babysit from time to time, and even train them in small ways

(in 2001) Seras will help like her ultimate counterpart, but I feel like she will take them out more, even showing them her old home

Here, Integra will be a lot more distant, letting comments slip more often regarding the situation, but still cares immensely about them, even if she doesn't show it

I don't know why, but I feel that this version of Walter is more fatherly, so I think he will be more involved in the child's life, maybe even letting them accompany him in the mansion when he doesn't have an important task

Peter Fargason will sometimes entertain the child in small ways, only if the others aren't looking, but will mostly keep his distance

(Question for Cookie's Reaction fic) I have 2 type of reactions in this type of fic (assuming they are self-aware) so I would like to ask what type of reaction would you do. Here's the option I can think of: A. Plot Breaker Basically Y/N being a menace and they talk about the plot which totally gonna break the canon event (like they are watching the gameplay/cutscene and then comment about it), unaware that the cookies heard what they say. This will definitely gonna add drawback to the story since the cookies know what is going to happen in the future and they might do smth afterward. B. The other universe behind the screen It's gonna be our(reader/you) general idea of the cookies see what we are watching/playing with the screen above the sky(don't ask where the screen come from) such as story from other games, cookie run AU, etc... This might be hard decision for you but with the option B, there could be a lot of different scenes with different reaction like this (early leak for my future request if option B is accepted) -Game but let's make it as movie react- *firework fired to the sky and explode* *Someone's footstep* Barry: Hello! Alrighty, just to start it off the bet:

Yes, Self-Inserts are allowed and yes, they are canon to the AU.

However, there are a few things to consider:

It is up to me to deem that Self-Insert canon. Please, accept criticism when I say that concept would be difficult to implement in the AU.

Don’t overpower them. Self-explanatory, I think.

If you make up a department or job for your OC, please make it so it actually fits into the setting of the studio. Alternatively, you could also make your Insert play a role outside the studio. The RTV AU doesn’t just revolve around that place after all.

RTV does not trust you guys a lot. You would have to give him a very good reason to make you a part of the Security Department, but he would never let you anywhere near the control rooms or the studio system. That’s Wr3n’s jurisdiction.

Yes, you can make your self insert interact with the Resistence (Mickey, Smg4 and Beeg). RTV won’t be happy though, so you will be on the enemy list 100 percent.

Shipping my characters is still not allowed.

favorite rotg theory?

I honestly forgot most of the theories bc I disagree with most of them tbh. imo most fan theories tend to overcomplicate or villainise/de-villianise characters while completely missing the point.

but this is a positive question so i'll try my best lmao

I think my favourite is probably that Jack lost his memories not because of the Man in the Moon, but because he died. Whether that be because of a resurrection, or because of trauma induced amnesia.

Although, tbh, my personal (related) theory is that Jack never even died in the first place. If we look at his first scene, we can see him let out a breath as soon as he leaves the water

if he'd died of drowing, he'd have to cough up all the water he'd inhaled, or at least not have anything breath left to exhale.

(also, interesting that his breath in this scene is always misty, like its warm. and is like that for multiple breaths, so not necessarily "the last warm breath he had left in him" since he's continuously exhaling warmth. which also implies that Jack is warm-blooded, not cold or undead, but alive.

I'm realising now that I have a lot of theories... idk man, it's kinda hard to pick a favourite when you could debate every point with the same enthusiasm.)

then compare this scene to his memory of falling through the ice

it's so quick for a drowning, which are notoriously fast. Google suggests it takes 3 minutes to drown, which this is well under.

and yes, this is possibly just a cinematic verison of events, sped up for the viewers sakes.

however, what if it's not. what if Jack entered the water, the Man in the Moon saw it, knew that no one in this time period was going to be able to save him, and just sort of put him on pause. suspended animation, if you will, so that he had time to save him as best he could.

This theory is also part of my "the Man in the Moon did nothing wrong" movement.

What evidence do we have that the Man in the Moon has enough power to do anything more than he already does? What evidence do we have that the Man in the Moon didn't drain his powers saving Jack?

The only time in the entire movie that we know he actually, audibly spoke to anyone on Earth was the very beginning where Jack says he told him his name. And even that wasn't audible to the audience! Only Jack heard that, so potentially he could be restricted by any number of things - only being able to speak through mental connections, only to his "creations" or "beneficiaries", only through abstract thoughts.

If we throw GoC into the mix

(which nobody has to, but I like to. I've been vagued before about forcing other people to accept GoC as canon, but I'm not trying to do that and never was. I just like it and want to use it as my canon.)

then we can play with the timeline a little, as GoC canonincally happens "some decades" before the steam train is invented: The steam train is invented in 1784 so GoC probably takes place in around the 1740s.

Jack is 300 ish in 2012, so his "birthday" is probably around 1712. So he was around well before the Guardians even existed (or, well, the group was formed at least. GoC Manny, Bunny and Sandy are millenia old, North is in his twenties/thirties probably and Tooth is a bit of a mystery, so..).

Which means that the Man in the Moon resurrected Jack before Pitch was even woken by Nightlight, and he was presumed dead.

The Man in the Moon only ever communicates through specific mirrors (actually I think they were gongs but basically it functions like a window) in GoC, except for book 5 where they physically go to the moon - but book 5 is weird and breaks the RotG canon so I don't count it - which also lends itself to this theory that the Man in the Moon expended his power resource before GoC. So he couldn't talk to Jack more than he had. Jack would have needed to go find one of these mirrors (one is in the Lunar Lamadry in the Himalayas, I believe on top of Mt Everest????).

GoC also sets the Man in the Moon up to be kind but incredibly distant and unsocialised. He was raised on the moon by his parent's robot servants and only interacted with Earth through their technology. To him being alone is just his normal, so he probably doesn't see Jack's isolation as a that big of a deal.

anyway, sorry that got a bit out of hand. Here are some honorable mentions for theories that I like:

Jack is descended from Katherine and Nightlight (yes this breaks the GoC/RotG canon I just established - this would have to be a different timeline to that)

Jamie is descended from Jack's Sister

Jack's Sister is named Mary (technically confirmed to be true by Joyce - I like the nickname Molly for Mary)

Baby Tooth was granted free will by Jack naming her & will develop & grow more now that she's no longer a part of the collective (I think this originated with @drowningostrich but I'm not sure)

Mother Nature is friends with all nature/element/seasonal spirits including Jack and Bunny

There's a fuck ton of other spirits out there who have their own society that Jack was just largely on the outskirts of (not necessarily an outcast, but more like a forgotten aspect)

Euphoria Season 3 ...

No matter what update/spoiler I see, I have this immense void in my heart.

What I thought was going to be a short wait from how successful season 2 was and how highly anticipated season 3 was after they announced its approval during the airing of season 2, I occupied my time reading fanfictions.

AO3 writers' stories had brilliant Fexi plots and ideas, and as I read those stories it was like they played in my head just like a movie/show. I could envision every detail vividly as I read them. I thank each and every one of you for that experience. And so many stories were too satisfying, it made me even more eager to see Fez and Lexi onscreen as an actual couple.

I can recall an interview with Maude where she was asked about Lexi and Fez's relationship sometime after the airing of season 2, and Maude made a comment that always stood out to me that, "In the last episode, they don't even kiss."

I'm trying to remain hopeful that they have some scenes from season 2 that were left out on purpose to continue Fez and Lexi's storyline together in season 3. I cannot accept that all they filmed, other than the three main scenes with them, were distant phone conversations.

There are lots of gaps to me like: how did she leave Fez's store after Cal spooked them (because I don't think Fez would let Lexi bicycle home after that)? Who texted or called who first? How exactly did they start talking every day? Did he pick her up to hang out before they watched Stand By Me together (because it was raining)? During the couch scene was there any personal dialogue between them outside the movie and the play? Did they hang out more than that time? Did they ever kiss?

Seeing how they had to 'refilm' scenes that happened in season 1 to Cassie but this time in Lexi's perspective for the last two episodes of season 2, I'm hopeful they learned to have (extra) scenes prepared and already filmed for the next season to carry on a storyline.

Whether they choose to use those scenes I am praying that they have in an entire episode or just as flashbacks in season 3, I will forever feign for Fez and Lexi's Happily Ever After for real. The potential their storyline together for season 3 had and just of them finally as an onscreen couple together, finally filling the distance between them after season 2; to just imagine...

What triggered this rant is reading and seeing that this season is focusing more on pimping and strip clubs. We all know that Rue owes Laurie money, and she needs help raising it. I couldn't help but remember a canon where Fez owns a strip club, maybe even the one his father once owned, that he and Lexi operate :(

That would have been so much fun to see and a means to help their friend Rue.

Any onscreen storyline with Fexi would've sufficed for me though as I know Fez and Lexi would have each other in one another, no matter what potential hardships season 3 was going bring them.

This is why I do what I do. And no matter how nice an episode/video of mine may turn out, it's nothing like being able to see Fez and Lexi together for real. When season 3 drops, I'll be crying every Sunday's episode whether it is sad or happy tears.

Hello and welcome to episode 1 of my “Gaydar” series, where I tell people what sexuality I think characters from media are. I am bisexual so I think I’m qualified to say my opinion lol. First up is all the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit characters. I’m starting with the Hobbit because I just rewatched all three movies recently.

Bilbo: There is no way on this green and burning earth or in my mind that Bilbo gives off anything other than awkward, introverted, and chaotic trans gay man energy. I find it increasingly hilarious that despite Martin Freeman’s stance on things like this, that the two most popular characters that he’s played have the highest rate of being in the most gay ass ships known to the world of men. His likeness is carved into the most heartbreaking and also hottest gay ships ever known and he has to live with that.

Thorin: Bisexual disaster man who has absolutely no idea how to show that his love language is both physical touch and words of affirmation, so he gives people he loves what someone hilariously called “love bonks.” Seriously, he had this entire field, a vast open plane in front of the mountain to walk through and he still went right for Bilbo to bump his shoulder against his. Use your goddamn words to tell Bilbo you love him, you silly short little bisaster.

Gandalf: As one of the Maiar (basically an all powerful angel in Tolkien universe) I was originally going to say Gandalf is Pansexual, but upon further examination of his character, Gandalf is 100% demisexual and demiromantic. He’s literally thousands of years old and I feel like he absolutely would not find anyone attractive or see any romantic potential in them if they didn’t share the same lifespan as him (looking at you Lady Galadriel.) He’s a mess but we love him.

Balin: He’s that one old, gay uncle in your family that you didn’t know was gay until you’re older and then realize that’s why he never got married. He literally gives Globber the Belch from How to Train Your Dragon: “this is why I never married, that and… one other reason.” Bombastic side eye on you, my guy.

Dwalin: My husband. My man. My perfect fucking tank of a man. I was originally going to say that he’s very straight coded, but I could definitely see him being bi leaning more towards femme presenting people. I also ship him with my own original character, but that’s an entirely different discussion.

Oin and Glóin: They are also straight coded, but Oin I could see being similar to Dwalin, Bi just leaning more towards femmes. Glóin gives big “I don’t understand what the LGTBLMNOP stuff is but good for you” dad energy.

Ori and Nori: Definitely also bi, but leaning more towards masc presenting people. Ori just gives sweet little gay woodshop nerd and there’s something about how Nori styles his hair that makes him seem fairly gay.

Dori: 100% gay. There’s not much explanation for this one, it’s just the vibe I get off him. He definitely spills some chamomile tea with Balin on those late nights in Erebor.

Bombur: Eh, he’s straight. Man is married and canonically has 6 kids. But he’s super chill with everyone because he’s the absolute goat of acceptance.

Fili and Kili: Fili is a proud and out pansexual man who is not picky at all. People are hot, he don’t care. Kili is bi but straight leaning, just for the “that’s not an elf maid” joke.

Bofur: Absolute legendary pansexual icon. Bofur can have anyone or everyone he wants because he’s just such a sweet little dork who gives no fucks about who or what you identify as. If he thinks they’re attractive, they’re attractive, end of story.

Bifur: Asexual. But he likes to watch. Next question.

Thranduil: Bisexual pillow princess. No more notes.

Bard: Bisexual. It gets lonely in that tiny lake town.

Tauriel: Another straight character, but I mean it in the most loving way possible. She loves short kings, what else can I say?

Now onto the LOTR cast-

Frodo: You poor sweet gay boy, let me give you a hug. Seriously, this boy deserves all the love and care in the world, which his best friend would absolutely give him.

Sam: Bisexual king. I can’t Not see Frodo and Sam being soulmates in every lifetime and Sam loving both Frodo and Rosie equally with his fucking Litter of 13 children. Rosie definitely gives the vibe that she wouldn’t mind watching her husband with his boyfriend.

Merry and Pippin: They’re both bi, but Pippin gives vague trans or gender-fluid vibes, I can’t tell which though.

wade thinks people babying him and letting him do whatever he wants is love, but logan is the opposite of that so he feels very attacked.

but logan judges too quickly as well as wade. and even with his JUDGEMENTS of wade, he was mesmerized by wade (most hot men and vanessa are in the movies ,it's no big deal, tch)

I have a specific AU in my head that dosn't go away

Context: are you familiar with the prototype series? Alex Mercer and stuff? Alex is the virus who thinks of himself as the doctor Mercer in the start (sorry for the shit paragraph)

AU: Desmond is now an Eden Piece (some Isu bullshit happened and now he is a Eden Piece ) and because the piece consumes Desmond's memories (or leak of them) they think now they're Desmond Miles (who is dead) and try to live his life as Desmond.

So because of Animus bullshit, Desmond doesn't have many things left but he knows Shaun and Rebecca, then he will hunt these two down because he wants to stay with them, he feels lonely and doesn't understand the world very well (maybe deeply he knows he is not the true Desmond, but he can play pretend for a while because the company)

Shaun and Rebecca accept "Desmond"with tears in eyes, hugs and promises of all being together now. Everyone is happy until "Clay" shows up

That Clay is not exactly their Clay, but they're also as "Desmond" an Eden Piece. EP!Clay actually knows more than EP!Desmond and try to alert them about the Isus, because Eden Pieces are used to control the humans and serve the Isu and EP!Desmond just runway

While this happens, the two humans (Shaun and Rebecca) are trying to calm Layla down, but the girl just makes the canon choices and she dies (sorry Layla, I like you, you looks funny but you need to die girl for the sake of this shit, you need to die) but this time everything is worse because Eden Pieces

Let’s mess things up a bit. Instead of basing it on Alex Mercer, let’s based this on Elizabeth Greene’s version of the virus.

Desmond is our ‘red herring’. The supposed Alex Mercer type in the story.

But the truth is he’s just the first of the ‘children’ being reborn as one that is both human and a Piece of Eden.

A device that had a connection to both the Grey and whatever Piece of Eden was used to create the Animus. That connection is what made that device be able to copy and recreate the data into a state the being was in before its death.

Becoming a Piece of Eden in the process is more of a… necessary ‘sacrifice’ to keep the production going without losing all resources.

Now, this does beg the question who our actual Elizabeth is. The ‘patient zero’.

Desmond Miles.

To be more exact, EP!Desmond is a failure because he was not able to be set in the same state as he was when he died which wasn’t when he was Desmond Miles but when he was the Reader.

This program was meant to return the Reader to a corporeal body to fix the world after he learned how to fix it.

That’s why Clay was the next one to be ‘reborn’. The device assumed that Clay would be capable of remembering the plan that the Reader made but that… went sideways because it’s not Clay’s memories. Clay does have the plan in his head but it’s jumbled together with the rest of the information (mindscrew) that Juno gave him before his first death.

Layla was the device’s Hail Mary. To be more exact, the device waited for Layla to die (it had no hand on her death, that’s an entire different thing that was half-orchestrated by Loki and his mistress and half-‘shit went down because we were too busy to actually support Layla’) because the next one to be reborn isn’t the Layla who died BUT the Layla who joined the Reader in trying to figure out how to save the world.

And unfortunately for the device, this Layla also suffered from those missing memories.

Because both the Reader and the Heir aren’t exactly human by the time they were to be reborn.

And now…

The device needs to figure out which one could (1) hold the Reader’s memories of the plan and (2) still be human.

The device’s next child?

The easy way out is that it’s one of Desmond’s ancestors with Altaïr being the easiest choice because his time with the Apple would make the transition to being a Piece of Eden easier.

Got curious (sidetracked) and checked if this was the same with Tear Drop and no that's usually a compound word from what I saw. Either spelled Teardrop or Tear-drop not with a space. At that point it's just tear and drop. Meaning it could be considered a bit of a play on Shidou's previous title Throw Down.

Unlike the song titles of their peers and their second and first trial song titles respectively Throw Down and Tear Drop lend themselves to multiple interpretations more than any other song title.

Meaning they are no longer indispensable since their services aren't needed. Shidou doesn't even have the in character canon excuse of not knowing what this means because he specifically doesn't speak English like Yuno does,

Even still this showcases she can write in English but there's the ambiguity of her being taught to write this just in case. Ya know like people are taught how to say no habla espanol to just inform people that they are incapable of speaking that language.

Also just because she cannot speak english doesn't mean English isn't taught at her school at least on a written level. I can't speak spanish I know how to write some things in it though that's for sure.

Meanwhile Shidou,

He blatantly admits to being able to speak English proficiently in contrast stating he's only able to speak German on a basic conversational level. He has no plausible deniability here. In character he knows what this means and in character the prisoners know their song titles.

This is knowledge they all have and many of them reference those titles over trial two. Anyone who is proficient in English knows what throw down can allude to. It is not generally considered a friendly term for polite conversation.

Which leads into my next point, Shidou's communication style. Many may be under the impression that Shidou is a poor communicator. This isn't exactly the case from my perspective. To me when I see Shidou having a conversation with any of the characters or hear his voice drama it always feels as though he's just doing this,

"Yes and no, it doesn't matter. It’s all how you say it."

In all of his conversations. That is not a link to Throw Down by the way and that's all I'm going to say about that.

Shidou has been shown to be a pretty dry communicator that doesn't show emote often or easily. Yet, he hasn't been shown having difficulty communicating or making acquaintances within Milgram in contrast to Mikoto.

Who's whole thing is going I'm a super nice and amazing communicator I love talking and everything to do with making conversation. Though I end up talking over people a lot and being too much. Has zero friends in this prison due to what I can only describe as liking talking to much and the Leo from Rise of TMNT speaking habits that makes him a bit hard for slower communicators to deal with.

Something everyone else in Milgram is actually. This man was made to not get along with anyone here. This is why despite his closeness in age to prisoners like Futa, Kotoko, and Mahiru- Mikoto more so gravitated towards Kazui and Shidou individuals more likely to be able to keep up with his communication style because they're older.

There was a thing on this I was discussing earlier hold on- Okay a while back I was looking into Verbal Comprehension. This is because my older sister was looking over my diagnoses forms and going over the IQ test portion of it and I got curious about what she was discussing so I was looking into what the scores meant with DoctorBunny's help.

He told me what the acronyms stood for on it. So I was able to look into it further. The verbal comprehension descriptor really fit well with Mikoto.

At the beginning of Milgram Mikoto speaks quickly. In bursts that make it difficult for others to keep up and get a word in edgewise. He usually starts conversations with greetings, statements or questions and when he starts he doesn't stop. He's a very active communicator and is shown to carry most conversations he's in early on even when the other party isn't giving him much to work with.

Over the course of trial one he gets quieter more reserved and standoffish. More than likely due to his verdict.

Shidou: Kayano-kun has become like that, and I can’t spend my time smoking at the moment, so the smoking trio has disbanded, which is a bit lonely.

In contrast Shidou isn't a proactive communicator. He doesn't really go into conversations often. Usually being the one approached by others within the timeline or in the middle of engaging with someone already.

He's never really gone out of his way to approach someone to talk to them. He's reserved, quiet, and more likely to be viewed as the sort always in their own head.

Futa: Ahh, those old men really stink of tobacco. Are they idiots or something? They should know better at that age…… If they really can’t cope without relying on something like that then I worry about their sanity.

Yuno: ……it doesn’t really matter does it? They’re making sure they’re staying far away from the people who don’t smoke. Personally I quite like the smell anyway.

Futa: Huh!? What are you talking about? It means you’re more likely to get sick, it costs money, it’s a nuisance for everyone around you, what’s even the point. Our tax money is being wasted going towards paying for that, you know? If you were really smart, you’d know not to smoke at all!

Yuno: I see~

Shidou's quiet display of shock juxtaposing Futa's overt display of contempt. Meanwhile Yuno's questioning of Futa's statements parallels Kazui's questioning and mild judgmental response to Shidou smoking. Showcasing their different communications styles and how they handle unexpected conflict of information.

Yuno's tendency to go if it's not bothering her then it doesn't matter. The allusion to Kazui's vigilance. The fact that he's been watching everyone to make sure there's an opening. Possibly from what he saw of Shidou concluding he didn't smoke and already having Shidou's name noted despite this appearing to be the first time they're speaking.

Futa complaining about the ways in which individuals impact the whole group through their actions regardless of if it directly impacts him or not. As well as Shidou's slow uncertain way of speaking that in this timeline is a bit similar to how Haruka's dialogue is written.

Though the difference is Haruka's dialogue is written in a way to imply anxiety while Shidou's is written in a way that implies he's thinking over his next statemenet.

Yuno: Shidou-san, apparently if you send a request to the guard, they’ll provide us with any basic necessities we require. Apparently we can even get some more luxury items to an extent. Is there anything you want?

Shidou: Kashiki-kun…… I wonder why Es-kun is giving all of us that much freedom. It’s obvious that this isn’t just a normal prison, but even taking that into account this is so far removed from what you’d expect from confinement. Don’t you think it’s strange?

Yuno: Hmm. I mean, I think I kinda get why, though. I mean like, if people just get to spend time as they usually do, then I feel like their real personalities are more likely to come out. The guard wants to observe everything about us and then determine whether to forgive us or not, right? It’s not like they particularly want to lock us up or make us suffer. ……at least, not right now they don’t.

Shidou: ……I’m surprised. You’re a smart girl who’s very open-minded…… Those are wonderful traits to have. I see…… In which case, I wonder if I could ask for a box of cigarettes? I don’t want to be a burden, so I don’t mind if it’s the same brand as whatever Mukuhara-san is getting.

This timeline showcases that Shidou's main concern is not burdening anyone. To the extent that he's willing to get the same brand of cigarettes as Kazui if that makes things easier on the system that has imprisoned them or Es. Though he is curious about why that system is relaxed as it is.

His main concern is not being a bother to anyone which if we look back on his first timeline appearance was more than likely the reason for his hesitance there. He may not have wanted to bother or intrude on Kazui's smoking time. This alludes to the sort of communicator Shidou is a good deal.

Something that becomes even clearer when one picks up the pattern of his timeline interactions,

Mahiru: Shidou-san…… you’re really good-looking. Personally I think you’d be better if you ate a bit more, but you’re slim and tall, and well put together to boot…… You must’ve been super popular up until now, right?

Shidou: ……yeah, that’s true…… I did my share of fooling around in the past.

Mahiru: Oh~? That’s not the sort of answer I’d expect from you. I’ve got it! Somebody told you that if you replied like that people wouldn’t resent you so much, right?

Shidou: Haha, I’m surprised you guessed. ……it seems that no matter what guise I put on, it’s meaningless against a woman’s insight.

In all of Shidou's first timeline interaction he is not the one to speak first. Shidou's first timeline interaction is the closest we get to him approaching someone else and that only seems to be because Kazui is the only one with cigarettes at that time as well as due to his suprise at the fact they're allowed to smoke here.

Yet in the timelines beyond that Shidou rarely begins and interaction himself. Instead he is usually approached, in the middle of a task with someone already, or has a very clear purpose when he communicates with someone.

Shidou is the sort of person who needs to be invited to speak. This is why having the smoking group was helpful for him and why he feels a bit lonely now. It was good for someone like him who worries about being a bother as well as the appropriate time to speak to have a social gathering where he can partake in an interest of his while speaking with others.

The smoking room is a really good spot for communication, right? - The smoking trio has disbanded, which is a bit lonely.

There are only a few times where Shidou approaches others himself and those times are telling in my opinion,

Shidou: ……do you mind if we talk? It seems you’ve relaxed a bit more recently, Kusunoki-kun.

Mu: Eh…… yeah, definitely compared to the start…… just a bit. But I’m still scared…… we still don’t know what they might do to us. I want to go home soon…… I wonder what’s happening there…… Papa and Mama must be really worried……

Shidou: That’s good…… You were crying so much, so I was concerned for you. ……yeah, I’m sure. Your family will definitely be worrying about you. I…… hope you can go back soon.

Mu: Shidou-san…… did you come here to comfort me……? I’m sorry, I’d thought you were…… a scary person…… fufu.

Shidou starts this conversation with Mu by asking if she minds if they talk. Showing again that he feels he needs permission to speak or as put in throw down something that tells him,

"Tock-tock… tells me, the reason it’s ok to be here."

He approached Mu mainly because he recognized that she was upset and wanted to check in on her. His concern towards how she was doing outweighed his concern of being a bother so he approached her. It's followed up on later why Mu had the impression that Shidou was a scary person.

The other time he approaches someone is due to concern as well.

Shidou: Sakurai-kun……? Show me your hand.

Haruka: Heh!? No, I…… There’s, n-n-nothing wrong.

Shidou: Show me. ……the palm of your hand is bleeding. I’ll have to disinfect it. Does this always happen……?

Haruka: A-ah…… It’s, j-just a habit…… I-if I’m nervous, I grip my hands, too hard, so my nails……

Again continuing this thing of him only approaching others when he has an expressed purpose or reason to. He does the same with Futa literally talking to him just to see if Futa would take the food he dislikes from him.

Futa: Huh? I don’t particularly care for it one way or the other… Hah, what, are you not able to eat it? So even an adult like you who seems so composed all the time still has a pathetic side.

Shidou: ……I’m not really like that. ……that’s just what it is to be an adult. When I think back…… I don’t think much about me has changed since I was around your age. Getting older…… it doesn’t mean something drastic is going to change about you.

Futa: ……what a depressing outlook…… Well, guess it can’t be helped. Here, I’ll give you my boiled spinach in return. Be grateful.

Shidou: ……Kashiki-kun, what sort of thing does it actually mean by “extracting mental images”?

Yuno: Ah, right, you’re going in for it now aren’t you. Have a nice trip. What sort of thing…… what sort of thing…… Hmm, I don’t actually remember anything after the first part. Talking with the guard was fun, though.

Shidou: I see……? That…… does sound like fun. Well, I’ll be off now.

Yuno: Ok, see you! ……hmm. So even he can smile like that sometimes.

Over the course of Milgram he does talk to people more. His relationship with Kotoko has been pretty interesting. Since Kotoko seems to get on fine with him but Shidou seems iffy about her.

Kotoko: ……Shidou, right? I’ve been watching your actions for a while, and I’m curious. You’re always extremely calm, and your expression never changes. Do you know something about this place?

Shidou: No, I know nothing. ……I’ve never really had an expressive face. Despite appearances, I am quite shaken by this. But…… if I do look calm, as you say…… then I suppose it’s because I don’t particularly dislike it. This place……

Kotoko: Hmm, is that so. ……what a coincidence. I don’t particularly dislike it here either.

Shidou: I think…… that our reasons are probably different. ……from where I’m looking, you’re not particularly normal either, Yuzuriha-kun.

Even going as far to assume she couldn't have come to wish him happy birthday and must be there for something else,

21/10/24 (Shidou’s Birthday)

Shidou: ……oh, Yuzuriha-kun. It’s unusual so see you around this early. Wishing me a happy birthday…… probably isn’t the what you’re here for, huh.

Kotoko: No, it is. Happy birthday, Shidou. Though it’s not like I bought you a present or anything. But while I’m here, I’d also like to ask you something. Has anything changed for you recently? Having nightmares, hearing voices, feeling anxious…… anything like that.

Shidou: Not especially, no. ……ah, so this is about how Kajiyama-kun and Shiina-kun have been strange recently? And she’s been trying to hide it, but Amane too…… We’ve been living in these conditions for a while…… it’s not unusual for there to be an impact on us mentally. Are you worried about them? You’re a very caring person.

Kotoko: Hmm, so you noticed? If nothing’s wrong with you, then that’s good. ……if I’ve understood properly, that means you’re safe…… Once again, happy birthday, Kirisaki Shidou.

Then despite her going no that's totally why I'm here him still being pretty certain that's not why she's here. Going as far to say,

"ah, so this is about how Kajiyama-kun and Shiina-kun have been strange recently? And she’s been trying to hide it, but Amane too……"

That's what this is really about. I understand how considerate of you. Because he is under zero impression she'd come all the way to where he is so early in the day for just that. Not even touching on the fact he looked at her and went yeah I think we both don't dislike being here for completely separate reasons and you're not particularly normal either.

Not even touching on Kotoko finding him appearing calm being another case of girl what about you. Like Kotoko really you don't have one leg to stand on here you both look stoic and are taking this calmly. Like miss what about you, what about you?! What do you know.

Mostly we're pointing this all out to showcase that Shidou doesn't approach people to talk often. He usually uses whatever he's in the middle of as a good excuse to hold a conversation, has an expressed purpose for approaching someone, or is spoken to first.

23/08/05 (Kazui’s Birthday)

Kazui: Hey, it’s been a while since we last talked. You’ve been working hard lately. Are you doing ok? Should I give you a shoulder massage?

Shidou: ……no, there’s no need to worry. You’re surely on edge at the moment too, after all, Mukuhara-san. Since I’ve been devoting my time to Shiina-kun, I haven’t had time to help with the rest of the prison. Sorry for leaving everything to you.

Kazui: No, it’s fine. I haven’t done anything really. ……you take on too much responsibility on your own. Make sure you rest a bit too. Oh, that’s right, today’s my birthday. So how about you join me for a smoke? As a present.

Shidou: ……I guess it’s precisely because we’re in this situation that things like that are necessary too. Happy birthday. I’ll join you. Can you lend me a cigarette?

Kazui uses all the mannerisms of Shidou's that we've discussed here to invite him to take a moment away from his duties to partake in that hobby he's admitted to missing out on since things changed. Kazui and possibly other prisoners recognize Shidou's communication style and this interaction displays how Kazui in particular works around it.

Kazui recognizes that Shidou needs a break and more than likely hasn't had much time to smoke due to taking care of Mahiru. So him making this offer can be considered killing two birds with one stone. He presents Shidou a convenient excuse to do something he's been missing out on and Shidou is happy to oblige. It would be more impolite to refuse after all.

This conversation works to mirror their first one. Ending with Shidou asking if Kazui can lend him a cigarette. Something he'd have to do when he first joined him to smoke as well. Since he hadn't gotten any yet himself.

Shidou isn't a poor communicator he's a reluctant one. His reluctance creates this impression that what he's doing is something he's uncertain about or doesn't wish to do. When in fact yeah he wanted to go smoke with Kazui. He'd been lamenting about the smoking group breaking up and not being able to do what they'd been doing anymore.

Yet, again-

"There’s no meaning in it, yes and no, it doesn't matter. It’s all how you say it."

If Shidou was really concerned with helping Mahiru he could have turned Kazui down. Just as Kazui had done with him before,

22/06/27 (Amane’s Birthday)

Kazui: What’s up, Shidou-kun? You’re looking pretty down. I guess you must be tired, I’ve been relying on you a lot lately.

Shidou: Yeah, I just remembered…… today is Amane’s birthday. I’m just getting a bit sentimental.

Kazui: Hmm, it’s unfortunate, but at the moment we can’t worry about that. ……you understand, right? There’s something that you need to do right now. And if you tried talking to her your words definitely won’t reach her. Don’t look at me like that. We’ll just wait until the situation changes. Let’s do our best.

Shidou: Yeah. I’ll do what I can. I can’t have a child making a face like that. Even though we’re “murderers”…… we’re also the adults here.

Like Kazui would have understood Shidou needing to prioritize. He told the man to do that previously. It's not as though Mahiru is any less injured here given his statement on her. Yet, Shidou treats this moment as just as important as taking care of her stating,

"It’s precisely because we’re in this situation that things like that are necessary too."

Right after the jumpings

Mahiru: Ugh it hurts so bad....

Shidou: Maybe Amane will have some cake this year...

Mahiru: ???

Shidou: Chocolate no maybe red velvet... Ah, try not to move to much.

Mahiru: ... Shidou-san Amane doesn't like sweets.

Shidou: Shhh shh Shiina-kun that's the delirium talking all kids love sweets. Especially on their birthdays what's a birthday without cake?

Shidou: I've been so busy taking care of Mahiru...

Mahiru: Oh god why does it still hurt so much?!

Shidou: She needs a lot of care and attention.

Shidou: But birthdays are still important if not more so. Times like these are precious-

Kazui when Shidou commits malpractice through negligence,

There is absolutely nothing funnier that Shidou could do on his birthday that will top everything he's done while here. This man has been ridiculous and continues to get away with it. Good on him honestly. It wasn't a hard bar to clear but some people still failed to get innocent trial one and trial two.

So, here's to going on another year of him getting away with it. Part of the top three innocent prisoners one of the only ones to be innocent twice. Shidou, Yuno, and Kazui double innocent, two times in a row. The only three and regardless of what happens next trial that's not gonna change.

(Brief) CG!House headcanons cuz I just think he’s neat

-Will make up some inane story for everything you ask him. If you ask why he needs a cane, he’ll say something that is most definitely a lie and very obviously unbelievable, and when you call him out and say it’s not true he’ll pause and go “mmm…yeah, you’re right” and then blatantly lie again. This can go on for several hours.

-If you work for him at PPTH and you start slipping, he’ll let you sit in his office and maybe play with his tennis ball.

-He’s a good cook (canon), and will likely - probably - cook things for you if asked (not canon).

-Is better with older regressors, think 7-12.

-It goes without saying that he’s not the most caring caregiver out there. He’s more of a really close uncle cg than a father. He knows he’s not like his father, but…well, he doesn’t get as close to you as either of you would like.

-He bought a toy doctor’s kit just for the hell of it and occasionally plays with you. In the end, the “patient” has racked up a list of symptoms that likely mirror his current case.

-He also made a fake MRI machine out of cardboard that is used more frequently than you would expect.

-Isn’t really a nicknames sort of guy in general. He’ll usually call you by your first name (apart from the occasional “kid” or “kiddo”). Though he did call you “squirt” once semi-ironically.

-He’s not exactly gentle, but…quiet. If you need someone less crass at the moment, he’ll look you in the eye and speak in low tones that just border in soft.

-If you also have chronic pain, he’ll do whatever it takes to make you as comfortable as possible.

-He has a small box of your age regression things in his closet. Not all of them, but those deemed “most necessary”.

-Very tone-focused, especially for more sensitive or younger regressors. He’ll make it very obvious that he’s being sarcastic and very obvious that he’s being genuine and make his boundaries very obvious as well (hint: he’s better with older regressors because he, frankly, doesn’t have much energy to change diapers continuously.)

-Wilson can and has babysat for whenever a case is so much of a puzzle that House doesn’t want to leave it alone.

-On bad pain days, after work you’ll both sit down to watch either monster trucks or a movie of your choosing. If it’s a kids film he really will try to focus on it with you for ten minutes tops then focus on work again.

-He’ll accept any benign things you give him for the pain in his leg, even if they don’t work. He does, however, tell you that they won’t work.

-He makes it very clear that he’s a caregiver, not a regressor. He believes that age regression is a valid coping mechanism, but thinks and feels he’s too far gone for it to ever work for him. Also, he’s just fine staying miserable. Or so he tells himself.

Times like this, you felt so safe, so protected, like the whole world was at peace. Your head on her chest, your arms snaked around her her waist as her hands played with your hair. Out of nowhere she would kiss your forehead and you would grab her hand and kiss it return.

Both of you just laying on her bed as you watched a random movie.

Afternoons like this were the best, after an exhausting day at Chilton, coming to her house and simply cuddling, then after a long while doing your homework together and of course staying over as Lorelai absolutely loved you.

At one point the movie was getting boring which lead to many kisses on your forehead, so instead of just kissing Rory’s hand back you turned your ear around, resting propping your body up with one of your elbows. You looked into those ocean blue eyes and closed the gap between the two of you.

Rory smiled against your lips which made you almost melt into a puddle. You were about the break the kiss however the blue eyed girl pulled you back in putting her hand on the back of your neck, now your lips moving roughly against each other.

You then moved down to her neck quickly for finding her sweet spot as she let out a hum of pleasure. You made sure to not leave a mark as Lorelai would come soon and you didn’t want her to think you had done it when you hadn’t and weren’t going to soon, you’re relationship was healthy and none of you wanted the other for sex it was only pure love.

After finishing Rory bent her head down to kiss you once again, what the two of you didn’t notice was a very shocked Richard and Emily standing at the door of the room, which apparently you hadn’t heard when it opened.

Emily shrieked as she saw the two of you kissing, she knew you were Rory’s friend and were a very good student at Chilton she never expected this between the two of you.

Hearing a shriek both of you jumped away, leaving you to fall from the bed because of the shock. “Oh my God, grandma grandpa what are you doing here!” Rory exclaimed as she looked at her grandparent with wide eyes, they finally caught her, she had been so careful in keeping her relationship private.

You quickly stood up and straightened out your uniform as you looked at the Gilmores, your parents were good friends with them so you often saw them and they absolutely loved you. However now they had a bewildered look, it was like hatred coming out of their eyes and slowly making your way towards you making a chill go down your spine.

“We just wanted to surprise you, clearly I should be asking what the hell are you doing to my granddaughter!?” Emily answered Rory but now her attention was towards you.

Just like that you froze, Rory picked up your nervousness and took your hand bringing you back to reality. “Grandma.” She said looking over at her “grandpa,” she added now looking at Richard, “the person I’ve been dating this whole time was y/n… I get you’re not used to this type of relationship, but we’re really happy with each other and I hope you can accept us, accept me.” Rory finished, her voice breaking a bit, she was on the verge of crying, she he never been so scared of being accepted.

You carresed her hand with your thumb, hoping to relieve your girlfriend a bit. “No, I will not accept this young girl! A woman is supposed to be with a man not another woman! You’re just confused with friendship !” Emily yelled, this wasn’t right in her eyes, it was crazy.

A few tears came out of Rory’s eyes, how could her own grandma not accept her. “Miss Gilmore, please, I promise what we have is real. I really love your granddaughter and she makes me happy and I make her happy. Please don’t be mad, it’s true love, we just love each other, we can’t control our feelings, love is love…”

“Y/n i have known you for a very long time, I always thought you were a brilliant young girl. I can’t believe you would do this, and raising your voice at me how dare you! I wool speak to your parents about this!” Emily shouted at you anger completely taking over her as Richard just watched, the man wouldn’t even move.

“Hey do not talk to y/n that way! You know what grandma ? If you’re not gonna accept me then leave ! Just leave!” Rory defended you as she shouted back at her grandma pointing towards the door so they would just leave.

Emily shook her head “Did you know about this? Your daughter and y/n were kissing when we arrived… they’re both girls and they’re dating how can you let tha-“

“Shut up mom. Of course I know about this, Rory and y/n have been going out for a long time now, and I completely accept this. Y/n is soo good for Rory, if you’re not going to accept your own granddaughter for who she loves. Then leave .” Lorelai cut Emily off not likening the way she treated her daughter.

“All of you are a disgrace, we’re leaving” Emily replied enraged, taking Richards hand and turning around. Meanwhile the man looked a bit sadly mouthing a “sorry” as he turned around following his wife’s lead.

The front door was slammed shut and the three girls stood frozen, Rory’s cries was the only thing heard. Y/n placed a kiss to Rory’s head whispering in her ear “I’m so sorry” and then grabbed her backpack.

Not-very-spoilery thoughts on the movie release of Pillar Training (+SSV conclusion)

Behind a cut anyway just in case!

--Very nice to hear familiar background music brought back--Yuukaku themes when Uzui & his wives appear, Mitsuri's "Koi Kogare" BGM when she has a good batch of lines, Giyuu's BGM as he's like, "bye"

--I am very happy with the new OP, both sound and imagery-wise.

--One very short clip in particular made me, a fanfic writer, very very happy, but then there was more gratuitous focus that reminded me of another one of my best fanfics. The rewards of writing fic as closely based on canon as I could get them gives me the satisfaction of feel liking like canon-based imagery honors my fics by extension.

--Speaking of imagery in general, Ufotable is finding lots of ways to try to harp on the idea that everyone's wishes to destroy demons find their accumulation in Tanjiro, the Sun Breath user and first person in centuries to unlock the Mark. It is perhaps a little clumsy at times, but hey, that's a theme I like in this series.

--I was sad that Suma sounded so different, and had to look up afterward if she still had the same seiyuu. She does, but I think they might have given her totally different vocal direction so that she wouldn't sound too similar to Mitsuri

--Japanese crowds tend to be very quiet at movie theaters, but people could not contain their giggles at many of Mitsuri's lines

--I had the honor of sitting next to a huuuuuuuge fangirl who before the moving was saying stuff to her friends like, "(Hanae) Natsuki-san was at USJ the other day, and since it's a VR ride, you know, you have to wear the goggles, and I think, what if I wear the pair that he wore??? You know?? Our faces??? Would be so close?????" and then at the review of previous seasons at the beginning of the show, she started crying the instant the Mugen Ressha part started. Not loud crying, but crying.

--You can tell everyone was waiting for the "welcome back" scene, and although I thought Zenitsu would steal the show in that scene, it was indeed Nezuko. In the seiyuu greeting that was broadcast across all Japanese theaters on the opening day, Shimono-san noted that he thinks the audio was turned down on his performance of that scene. I think it was probably was too.

--So much happy daily life in this episode. If you have any friends who complained about last year's theater showing being a let-down because it was just regular anime episodes instead of a Mugen Train style movie, please tell them to just sit this one out and spare us their complaints. Most of this showing was just Tanjiro having a nice time after having a panic attack over Nezuko (oh, and like, killing Upper Moon Four, that too).

--Shinobu's hair seems distinctly longer. Giyuu's hair seems distinctly fluffier.

--Ufotable has put a lot of touches into humanizing Amane

--I wish Ufotable would stop trying to drive the "Zenitsu thinks Aoi is happy to see him (just because Aoi is a girl)" point. First off, yes, Zenitsu being a creep to girls is played up a bit in the anime. Second, the first fanbook states that the only kind of girl who is not so much his type is the Aoi-type.

--Also, on the promo art, I like the design they gave Shinobu's sword, but that's ignoring the fact that the four engraved kanji characters are on either side. Go ahead, Ufotable, hire me as your canon double-checker. EDIT: Oh wait, that is its sheath. Lovely, carry on.

--That said, the original filler they gave us? Gold star. Excellent. So happy with it. One... well, two tiny nitpicks that don't bother me much but stating it here would spoil it.

--One more non-spoilery thing to say about that filler: the people at Ufotable were probably like, "our fans are nerds. We already give them this, this, this, and that to nerd over. You know what else they are probably nerds for? Yeah. Let's give them that." Thank you, Ufotable. This nerd accepts and loved it.

--Tiny Nezuko filler as they set the stage talking about Muzan is probably looking for her? LOVE THAT TOUCH, at every level.

--Shinobu does have multiple goldfish, but they look a bit different?

--Genya's makes the best face in this whole episode

--Speaking of Genya, in the seiyuu greeting they had actors in big chibi costumes of the Kamaboko gang come out... PLUS GENYA. Giant chibi grumpy Genya was so, so, so, so freaking cute. Also, his seiyuu Okamoto got to join the stage with everybody and was talking about how he always used to scroll through his social media seeing the other seiyuu at KnY events and he was like, "sigh... sure looks like everyone is having fun..."

--Hanae Natsuki and his wife are big Genya fans, though, it seems

--Okamoto had a lot of trouble performing young Genya in the flashback, especially the emotional screaming. The desperation Genya always displays as he fights? That was Okamoto. --Meanwhile, Matsuoka always looks very overwhelmed at these things. I think having to embody the spirit of Inosuke terrifies him.

--IT WAS SO GOOD TO HEAR INOSUKE AGAIN

--Those actors in chibi costumes? The Zenitsu and Inosuke ones embodied them SO WELL. I don't usually care for those giant mascot character costumes, but these were legit so much fun to watch, like with Inosuke going right up into the cameras and Zenitsu trying to pull him back and then the two of them pushing and shoving. Zenitsu acting like he is being bullied and Inosuke showing off his muscles. I loved them. I am very sad that I will not be in town when they travel across Japan and come to my area.

--Also, the baritone voice of Oyakata-sama's personal crow? LOVED IT.

--Himejima at the the Pillar Meeting is such a statement. The new promotional material has a tag line that prominently uses one of the kanji in his name ("cry out"), and I feel like this is set-up for him to have a lot of impact later on in this season. Here's hoping!

- they all wake up at completely different times. it’s rare that they’re all up at the same time…. unless it’s 3 am. everyone’s up then. for one reason or another

- frank passenger princess confirmed 🫶 riff is always the one driving and frank’s like doing his eyeliner in the front seat and then gets so pissed when they hit a bump in the road and he messes up

- board game nights that result in a loss of friendship (temporarily). i’m thinking of some dialogue i heard from my friends while playing uno as columbia and magenta: “wow your eyes are so pretty!” “i thought we weren’t on speaking terms.” “oh right sorry”

- the stage they had the floorshow at is literally just used for the most dramatic karaoke performances in the history of creation. like they get allll the lights and sounds just so columbia can sing total eclipse of the heart

- riff and magenta act like normal siblings. i don’t care what the movie said that wasn’t canon. they fight like children and use blackmail from when they were younger on each other <3 ESPECIALLY bc riff does not approve of magenta and columbia and it’s like

-“she’s not good for you” “i’ll tell her you bit people” “..have a nice date”

- they have fully accepted being strange and offputting <3 they always have sm fun going out in public and just being Odd. to quote hair (sorry i’m ill about that too), “hey man let’s go to the park and scare some tourists!”

- columbia and magenta have an agenda of trying to get a pet for everyone. riff and frank do not approve at all but they always find ways to sneak in stray cats :3 they prob have rabies by now but it’s fine

- frank turns into the biggest homophobe around magenta and columbia. he was happy for them for like 2 seconds and now if they even hold hands in the same room as him he gags

- movie nights but with the worst, most obscure movies they can get their hands on. think velocipastor.

Doomed by the narrative is a popular, fun trope. It's what superhero movies are all about. If you take the average superhero you already probably would know how their story is, what tragic backstory they had, what events shaped their life, etc.

So what you'll see whenever there's a new story about them is those major backstory elements rehashed or subverted or played with or at least mentioned in some way. Because that's the story. That's the narrative. And the character is established by that narrative and therefore also doomed by it.

ATSV is no different. In fact it goes full meta with it. (There used to be a time when being meta was so cool until it was so goddamn overdone that it became stupid and you just want the earnestness of the pre-meta stories. You can only furiously 'wink wink' and violently*nudge nudge* the audience so much before you lose their interest. Anyway ATSV is fully earnest in it's meta that you don't even register it as being meta until you take a step back and look at the story being told. Like it's a proper metamodernist piece. Also I like how the two great examples of metamodernist media are both multiverse stories. The other being everything everywhere all at once, of course)

What the movie does differently is having how different people react to the 'Doomed by the Narrative trope’ be the forefront of the story. That is the story, actually. It also explores how valid everyone's reactions are. Even Miguel's (my hot take).

Like Peter B has lived as Spider-man long enough and has gone through most of the Spider-Man canon and was in a slump when we first met him. Like he even separated from MJ. But he rolls with it. Because that's just who he is. But now?

It was because of Miles Peter B got back into his groove and found his place again. It was essentially because of Miles he got back with MJ and had a baby and found stability in being himself.

'How do I know I'm ready, Miles?'

'You can't. It's a leap of faith.'

Miguel is angry but resigned because the one time he tried to defy the narrative it fucked everything up so bad. An entire universe was lost because of him. So now he’s doing what he genuinely believes is the right thing to do. He built the spider society to really make sure no one else can repeat his mistake and lose everything. Like what Peter Blond said in the first movie, 'because the only thing standing between this city and oblivion is me' except change 'city' to 'arachno-humanoid poly-multiverse'.

So of course he’s angry when Miles suggests that canon can be changed. That he can deny fate. Both because he’s convinced Miles is wrong and is going to get people killed and also if Miles is right than Miguel has to reckon with the fact that he’s convinced so many Spider-people to just adhere to the canon that had engulfed every aspect of his life now and let their loved ones die because he was convinced there was no fighting the narrative. That not everyone is as doomed as he is. Miles challenging that notion while there is concrete evidence of the notion being correct is cool af.

And Hobie, who probably knows he's doomed but has his own agenda for joining spider society. He's stealing knick knacks, building his own watch and shit. He might accept the narrative but he's not gonna live by it. If the narrative is gonna take him down he’s not going down limp. So of course when he sees Miles rebelling against the narrative he is fully on board. Miles exemplifies Hobie's traits. That is a proper punk.

And Gwen. My god. She escaped her narrative of being a dead spidey gf only to become a spidey trope herself. Seriously, an alternate universe gwen that doesn't die at the bell tower and instead is that universe's spider-woman? How cool is that? Oh wait. Your dad's gonna die and your Peter is also dead. Sorry. Haha.

Anyway, the movie opening with her and us seeing her current mental place was done so well. She misses Peter. She misses Miles. But both of these people aren't in her life anymore. Her dad hates who she is. She's depressed. But she's still spider-woman. And then the story happens and vulture and Miguel and then boom. Her father knows her identity. And essentially disowns her. She flees to the spider-verse. She can't go back home and she’s even more stressed out and angry when she learns that as Spider-Woman she's gonna lose her loved ones no matter what.

She lost Pete. And now she might lose her dad. So now she's in a limbo. By not going back home she is saving her father because he can't die unless she's there to not save him. The narrative will still eventually doom her. But she can put it off by having spider-people adventures and upholding the narrative that wants to doom her. Goddamn irony.

But she stops going along with it when she sees Miles' reaction to finding out he’s doomed. He doesn't give in to the narrative. He doesn't care about canon. He fights back. And that one little push gives her the spark to try and find out just how doomed she really is. And that ending scene when her dad stops being a police officer and really just becomes her dad. The doom lingering over her 'canon event' vanishes. He's no longer the capt stacey doomed to die in a spider story. He's a dad who's accepting his daughter wholly. I fucking love Gwen's whole arc in this movie.

And then there's Miles. Goddamn Miles, man. He was trying so hard to figure out what his narrative even is, but is determined that he can figure it out, that he can spread his wings and manage on his own and find his place and be himself.

Like, I would've written a paragraph dedicated to Pavitr on here but Miles already saved him from the narrative. Pavitr, my wholesome boy I hope you face no strife in life and everything goes absolutely splendid for you at all times my precious baby boy I love him.

Anyway, Miles finding out he's doomed? And how he finds out is from the people he thought would truly understand what he's about? And them not only accepting the fact that him (and all other spider-people) are doomed but going along with it? That has to be the biggest 'what the actual fuck' moment for him. It's so out of left field for him, understandably so. This whole building of heroes are all 'yeah. Peter from universe 573683 can't clock in today. He just lost his uncle' like that's such a fucked up concept that Miles will not even look at the reasoning Miguel or anyone else puts in front of him.

And this radical rejection is the best character take. I seriously seriously can't wait to see the next movie and see just how Miles deals with a narrative hellbent on dooming him. Spider society will be in shambles.
