Tbh Im just thinking of something that im really curious and doesnt let me asleep. What was cdream planing to do once he was inside the prison? Bc if it was just contain the revival book then...why he had the plan to not stay too long in there? cpunz kinda implies the plan was meeting soon after cdream was imprisionated when they reunited post prison break. So what was his plan? the little we see of cdream in prison before he kills ctommy was him just passing around the cell and getting bored and starting to be starved by csam. Was it a plan to united the server, stay imprisoned a few weeks and then come out acting as if he changed? well that'd make sense, also could explain why he insisted so much in that he changed or leave forever even with people he and everyone knew wouldnt buy that at all like ctommy or csam after ctechno escape. But that stills makes me uneasy bc he didnt try that much. He didnt try to act like he was "reformed"(meaning as what the server expected to him to act if he reformed not in a way saying imprisoment is a was okay or acceptable way to help someone), he tells ctommy he burned the books when ctommy asked him to write novels as a way to say sorry.

Im just thinking what was he planned to do inside the prison? just stay there and rot for an indeterminaded amount of time? idk if the "contain the revival book" as his only motive fits bc then why he seemed to have planned with cpunz to meet soon and also planned that cranboo explodes tnt to trap a visitor with him? And the "trying to act as if he changed" while it makes more sense to me, it also doesnt convince me 100% for what I just said. Maybe a combination of the two? it could be, a person can have multiple reasons to do something. But idk, what do you think was cdream plan once he was inside the prison?

That is The question isn’t it -Why put himself in prison?

And the thing is I can’t really give you a definitive answer because we just don’t know. There are lots of variables and we just don’t have enough data to determine the answer, especially when we don’t even get his pov or get to see 80% of his lore. The best I can give you is my theory on why I personally think he did it, which I have talked about [here], based on the information we do have and assuming he’s not completely crazy, and is following some form of logical plan, however flawed…

For starters, one of the things we do reasonably know based on the amount of times it comes up including the finale is his larger desire and motivation - "Always the goal has just been that it's all one united server, that everybody follows the same rules, there's no countries there's no, you know, any of this it's just one giant like family." [clip], “I want everyone to live and be happy together” forever [clip], (after spending time in Dream’s head we get Tommy saying) “You just want things to be simple.” [clip] and then of course -> “I just don’t want to ever be alone.” [clip]

That’s the base line - Dream does not want to be alone, he craves community and family, a world where everyone is happy and together.

So keeping that in mind, for starters I don’t think he did it to “contain the revival book” and honestly I’m not even sure where that reasoning came from, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it and it really doesn’t even work as you point out, one reason being that Dream’s stay was meant to be temporary.

I also don’t think the reasoning of uniting the server works either because for starters the whole server isn’t even present for his arrest and the ones who are there weren’t necessarily big enemies before that. Besides technically he already did a better job uniting people against him during Doomsday. Now maybe that was a side bonus or goal but I don’t think it’s the main reasoning.

But yes, I do think it was a means to be seen as reformed or less of a threat by the server. I go into some of that reasoning in my other post. I think it was about providing a pathway to him not being enemy number 1 anymore. Because people had been rallying against him even in a time of mostly peace with the biggest example being L’manberg planning to assassinate him in cold blood in the Green Festival. Everyone was against him, even his friends and everyone lived in such fear and hatred of him no one would even hear him out. I mean I think the dethronement conversation is a great example of this (I provide a good bit of transcript in this [post]). Everything he said was seen as unreasonable and malicious and he was left alone with no way to mend these relationships. Everyone wanted him dead, but he didn’t want to die and while he could just leave to protect himself, we know he didn’t want to be alone, so instead his made a plan to a path of him being redeemed in the eyes of the server.

That was the plan right. Everyone defeats their villain, gets their revenge, but instead of him ending up dead like they wanted he is alive in prison and now that he’s stripped of his power, fear is more removed allowing for relationships. No longer is he this unstoppable evil overseer but just a person. Or so was I think his intention. They would keep him in there for a bit, realize not everything is his fault, that he isn’t this big evil tyrant, get their satisfied comeuppance and then people would let him out. Consider Bad’s reaction to visiting Dream [post] - he’s done bad things but he deserves better than to suffer - that is a whole different reaction than the person willing to have him murdered completely - dead forever - by Tommy a few days prior.

Anyways, if that was his goal, then why didn’t he try to act reformed upon his escape? Well… that was his original plan. By the time he escapes he has spent months being starved, isolated, and tortured, his mental stability ain’t exactly top notch at that point and based on those things even happening in the first place, his belief that people would think he’s reformed or allow him back into society has likely been squashed. Clearly, he didn’t think his previous friends would torture, starve, threaten to kill him if he ever leaves, even try to kill him when he’s already locked up. He underestimated their hatred and fear of him, so I doubt he had much faith at all for them to even let him have a chance to be “reformed” or just not wanna kill him at that point, since again most of the people he’s interacted with up until he escaped wanted him dead or promised to kill him.

However, I do think there was still that underlying hope. You can hear that hope bleed out of his voice in his conversation with Sapnap as he goes from trying to reason with Sapnap as an old friend even with the offer to start over, to sounding just as insane and malevolent as he did with Tommy [clip] -> [clip] -> [clip]. He tries so hard to avoid the fight that Sapnap is setting him up for, he tries so hard for them just to not be enemies. But him escaping prison is evidence for Sapnap that Dream is still hostile and even the torture is not a good enough reasoning for that escape to be anything but proof of his violent ways. And you can hear the switch in his voice the moment he realizes the only way people listen to him is if he’s the villain they see him as, if he finds their weakness and exploits it, threatening to destroy something they love (sound familiar doesn’t it?…)

As for his encounter with Tommy, after spending time with him in prison and then Tommy trying to kill him while he was in prison, I don’t think he thought there was any world where they weren’t enemies. Tommy already proved himself to be hostile and he, despite his fear of Dream, even came to get the weapons and confront Dream in the exile area, knowing Dream was going there, proving to still be an active threat. And what does a rattle snake do when a threat appears? They rattle, they rattle make themselves appear big, they make the threat afraid and send the threat away. And that is what I believe Dream is doing with Tommy in that confrontation. He’s making him afraid, so Tommy will be too scared to come after him. I don’t think he ever intended to make good on his threats, because honestly, there are other people on his priority list to get revenge and make suffer. And he’s saying the same things he said in the finale, we know was staged, about how he’s targeting Tommy specifically and Tommy being the main fun to torment on the server.

Now this plan does end up backfiring a bit because the moment Tommy returns home he immediately starts to form a group to go after and kill Dream, fortifying Tubbo’s house to serve as a base and gathering gear… etc. It’s because of that, that I think he leaves the creepy disc in Tommy’s basement, to make him more afraid so he’s too scared to come after him… so to me I’m not sure we can say he didn’t try to act reformed, I don’t think he was given the chance. Even with people like Foolish, who doesn’t even know him, he’s on rocky terms with. It doesn’t seem to matter what he does after prison, he can mind his own business - lock himself away and not bother anyone for months or go through with his threats and they’ll still wait outside his door to kill him and sneak into his house in the middle of the night to slit his throat. Hell even if he had done as Techno had and built a cottage in the middle of nowhere, I bet people still would have come after him. He’s Dream after all…

So Dream is clearly dancing on the edges of insanity and unable to gain any credit of change from people after prison, but as you point out, what about in prison. He sure didn’t seem to go out of his way to act reformed in prison and that was before the torture so does that mean this theory of him trying to be “reformed” in the eyes of the server isn’t his goal? Well no, not necessarily. As I’ve already mentioned, we can see the way he acts with Bad is very pitiful and making himself seem small and unthreatening to be let out, and we see him apologize to Tommy in his first visit and such. This though doesn’t appear to last long, but I think that is because he was experiencing lots of isolation, and not isolation that can be distracted from with like watching a movie or something (because he has nothing) - isolation without really anything to quell it. If you’ve watched videos relating to isolation or know much about it then you’ll know that it tanks mental health real fast. Therefore Dream’s insanity sets in fast. Leading to his desperation for human contact, so then instead of acting all good and getting reformed and paying for his crimes and being remorseful and such, he starts acting out like throwing himself into lava and burning the clocks just so Sam has to come visit him. His misbehavior then I think is a symptom and consequence of the prison conditions not necessarily part of his plan. He also calls it a prank so he probably didn’t think it’d go that much against his plans of seeming better, but clearly Sam doesn’t seem to appreciate his pranks and starts becoming more hostile and such, which shouldn’t suprise us given Sam’s behavior in the prison even early on. In addition, even Sam’s response to Ponk in the tour of the prison and what he says to Bad later about using food as a means to get information, I’d say it’s fair to assume that Sam’s intense demeanor likely started early on, meaning I think Dream’s food was being withheld early on, before the dropper was added. And that’s besides the fact that going from eating steak to a few raw potato’s would be a huge food reduction and cause issues anyways. So even before things get real bad, Dream’s mental stability is dropping real fast and you can see it from each visit he gets. There is genuine mental decline there even if Dream does also seem to use it to his advantage. I mean who knows what Sam did for Dream to stop talking altogether in protest in Sapnap’s visit… bare in mind too, if we look at the timelines Exile only lasted 9 days, countries only last a month or two, things went really fast so it’s not unreasonable for Dream to think his sentence would be short. But then “forever” is being thrown around even by his own friend and that’s when he probably realizes his plan is falling apart.

So by the time, Tommy visits again Dream is not in an optimistic and good mental state. Plus if I remember right, I believe Tommy said he’d visit a lot and even suggested being his like “therapist” but then didn’t come back until a month later on Feb 21st. So maybe Dream wrote the books but in his frustrating of being left alone and Tommy not coming back, ended up burning them.

In other words, I think originally the plan was for people to come visit and talk to him and see that he’s not such a bad guy and that his punishment has been sufficient to then be let out. But things fall apart fast. Isolation and boredom starts to set in, food starts to be limited, and people don’t visit. He just didn’t want to be alone -> and now is left entirely alone.

Then his plan to trap Tommy happens likely way later then it was supposed to because I doubt he expected it to be a month before Tommy returns, and he aims to make some form of amends however minuscule or least have them learn to cohabitate, but that doesn’t go to plan at all, in fact Tommy calls him names and bickers and whines the whole time and 9 days later after Dream expresses his love for the cat, Tommy kills it as well as starts doubting the existence of the Revive Book (the only reason they left him alive in the first place). So after spending weeks in boredom, isolation with low levels of food, and after over the week that was supposed to happen (based on the prison waiver signed) of listening to Tommy bitch and dealing with his punching and calling him names, and even while experiencing the terrible conditions still being adamant that Dream deserves this, Dream beats his head in in a fit of mania. And that I doubt was planned either, and certainly helps ruin his bigger plan.

So what was he planning to do in prison? I think be visited. I think write notes and letters to people and such. I don’t think it was about being reformed or redeemed per say or that Dream believed he needed that (though a fair argument could be made that that was part of it) but about just not being enemies. In an ideal situation he’d become friends again with people, but I think he’d have settled for just being seen as some guy again and not having everyone trying to kill him. Like how Bad didn’t become his friend during prison or after but isn’t necessarily actively seeking him out to kill him. Dream just didn’t want to be alone and I personally think the only way he saw a way to not be was to put himself in prison to be let out by the server when they were ready to not want to just kill him… but as it turns out they never stopped wanting to kill him, they were only held back by the knowledge of a book he had. And instead of going from big bad villain to just some guy, he became nothing more than a book instead. Instead of gaining friends to not be alone, his friends became his enemies and he was left to rot completely alone… and after almost an entire year of suffering, he’s still enemy number 1, he’s still hunted down like a dog, they still want to kill him. Only this time, instead of stabbing him in the back at a festival, they make a deal with god just to kill him and break into his house in the night to kill him. In the end, if his plan was to be let out and let back into society as no longer the enemy, then his plan failed so spectacularly. And whether there was a moment specifically in prison or out where his plan became no longer feasible or whether it was unrealistic from the very start remains unclear. Though you could make an argument for each, I’d say both are probably true… I think it was perhaps the only option at least in Dream’s mind to have his family back and yet I also think it was probably damned to fail from its very conception…

III. His Vessel

Reader's POV:

I pushed the curtains to the side and embraced the warmth of the morning sun flashing all over my body. The heat felt good on my skin after that cold night.

After taking a good look at the morning traffic, I decided after a shower I’d just get breakfast at a convinience store.

It wasn’t my first time being alone as I always had Nanami following me around for my safety but sometimes it does get annoying that we end up being cat and mouse, chasing each other out on the street and as usual he’d made me think I won but his just right behind me.

“See us a again.”

So I had to make sure he doesnt track me. I cant stay in one place cause Im pretty sure his not far behind.

“Turning off your phone isnt lady like Ms Inagawa.”

My shoulder tensed up and slowly turned around to see Nanami standing behind me. His tall frame hovering over my small frame and I could even hear the ladies cooing at the counter. I sighed pulling my cap down on my face feeling embarrased from ever feeling confident that Im a step ahead of him.

“How the fuck did you know this time?”

“I put a tracker on Mr. Geto’s bike after having a meeting with him. He should find it by now since he always wash his bike on a sunday.”

I hummed and reached my phone in my pocket.

“You spy on him too.”

“I wouldnt put it that way but more of keeping an eye on him incase things turn south. And it did.”

I scoffed having the idea that Nanami was also told about the marriage in advance. I fucking hate my circle. I then heard the bell of the convenience store signifying that it was open, my head turned to the sound of its direction and felt this urge to bolt out of here.

Nanami was quick to notice my action and sighed looking over his watch. “Fine. I’ll give you a five second head start-

Before he could finish his sentence I threw my phone at his face and ran. A few of his men were already in a car parked in front of the convenience store to block my way so I slid over the hood to get to the other side of the street and heard them getting out of the car. I had no idea where I was gonna run off to but Nanami is probably on the chase by now so I just have to think like him to avoid him.

After having Nanami by my side for years I know he gets distracted by cats and couldnt help but pet them on his way so I headed to a dumpster of cats, maybe it’ll buy me some time. The dumpster of cats lead me to a small street filled with on the go shops where I found a small bakery with a short opening on the side of its building. Nanami couldn’t resist the smell of bread so it’ll buy me time to find another way out of from short opening. It feels like luck is on my side now.

I gasped as the loud gun shot came ringing in my ear. It ached my head but I kept my eyes open to look around noticing the familiar street. Judging by the off neon lights, provocative signs, trashy street and some drunks sleeping on the side of the road. Im at the red district, one of the dangerous parts of the city.

I heard the gun shot again but this time I was able to close my ears to lessen its ringing. My eyes followed to where I heard the shot and found in a steep alley behind the dumpster is some guy pointing a gun at what it looks like a little girl. Immidietly my heart fell into my stomach and as much as I didnt want to get involve I saw the little girl still moving.

In the family I was known to be stupid for acting out of impulse. I passed several martial arts to use it for self defense but instead I got to use it more in times to help others like saving an old lady from being bullied by teenagers and a woman from being ganged up by thugs. But now, this is gonna be my biggest invovlment yet.

I picked up the nearest trashcan I could find and threw it on the man with the gun. His reflexes were kick to push the trashcan off but trash inside had covered his view and I immidietly followed it with a kick at the back of his head. It didn’t seem strong enough to knock him out but it knelt him down and was able to point the gun towards me. He was about to pull the trigger until a foot reached the side of his face and fell on the ground. And thats when I realize it wasnt a little girl, it was a boy with long white hair with red markings on top of his head.

“We’re both in trouble if your father hears about this.”

Nanami comments as he stared at the clear glass window in one of the hospital rooms. The boy I helped was inside getting some treatment on his wound.

“So dont tell him.”

I commented watching the boy as well. He must have felt our stares and looked our way. Instead of being friendly and all, Nanami chose to turn around giving him his back while I gave a little wave.

“How do you expect him not to hear about this when you saved his life.”

Nanami bobbed his head towards the boy. My eyebrows furrowed at his comment and side eyed to look at him.

“What do you mean?”

I asked confused and turned my eyes to the boy again, who soon mouthed a thank you towards me before one of the nurse had pulled the curtains close. Nanami sighed and shook his head.

“If my cards are right this must be fate for you.”

I just had to whip my head towards him.

“What are you on about?”

Nanami removed his hands from being folded and started walking away from the room. I followed behind him and kept questioning him about his stupid mumuring back there but he wouldnt budge.

“Paid by whom?”

The calm voice questioned the shaky female admin that stood at the counter of the hospital.

“B-by the woman who…bought him here, S-sir.”

The man lowly hummed and snapped his fingers.

“Get me the name.”

The snap made the admin jolt and rushed to look at the files of the boy that was admitted five hours ago. The man impatiently leaned on her counter tapping his fingers on his table and even glancing at his men behind him.

“That’s rude of you not to ask the name of your savior, Uraume.”

The boy with the white hair in a wheel chair lowered his head.

“My apologies, Sir.”

The man replied poked his fingers on his subordinates forehead and pushed it to be lift it up.

“Take it easy, your head might fall off.”

At that moment the admin had found the boy’s papers.

“U-uhm…Sir, here is the name.”

The man looks over the counter and grabbed the paper board that was handed to him. He was silent for a moment looking over the information written until his eyes landed on what he truly wanted to see.

also with sigma's whole... everything. not having a birth or a childhood or a life beyond the desert and the casino and these traded snippets of other people's lives. and now suddenly having centuries worth of a life that's still not your own. potential villain arc? waking up more like fyodor or just having his memories? seeing his pov while also understanding why The Murder™️ is wrong? or something else entirely?

i think fyodor didnt do that to be understood because he dissociates himself from the common man too much to ever think of that as a possibility, he thinks he is different and therefore can not be understood kind of deal

he might have done that solely to buy time and but also at the same time he wasn't hiding anything from anyone in the first place. all he did was being quiet about it until he got asked/couldnt avoid the situation and let others assume things about him, everything loops back to his behavior in chapter 42 which i think is really fun

for sigma, i think his character development still is not finished and both based off of the characters in ada (like, how they are all named after writers who exist instead of an original character like sigma and have a more natural/sepia filter esque old timey color palette) and how it wouldnt make sense since characters like poe and lucy didnt join but remained as supporting allies, i believe at some point either something will happen that will prevent sigma from joining ada or sigma will give up on it himself, which is what i want for him honestly. fyodor is just something beyond human to him at the moment and honestly we dont even know but if sigma gets to see the more human side of fyodor and gets more insight on his background (i am not saying that it has to be something like a sob story so sigma feels sad about it, at least some sort of reasoning to clear things up) he might realize that he doesnt have to pick neither dazai or fyodors side but can be independent. i dont know if this is what is going to happen, i just want sigma to be on his own :') we might see him more in the story as an ally character or never at all, just wandering off and disappearing from the scene to be in peace for once

Okay but, even though I dislike TTT for making the characters sit on their asses for months for no reason [like seriously, Im not sure why they're wasting time building a door without titan blood. Luz and Hunter both know a door will not work without titan blood.] It's the most entertaining episode of the season for me. When I first watched this episode I wasn't bored like i was with the other two episodes.

It's not just because of the Lunter bonding and Lunter hints - it's that they wrote the episode in such a way where it looks like Hunter is homewrecking Luz's and Amity's relationship. If you were to insert yourself into Amity's POV it looks like Hunter has a thing for Luz. And that is soooo funny to me.

Luz and Amity have been clinging to each other since they came to the human realm. The only time she isnt with Luz is when Luz is at school and this specific day TTT takes place on. This is one of the rare moments Amity isn't with Luz and she's going to be busy for many hours trying to figure out the mystery behind the rebus.

Amity inspires the others to venture into the human realm with her so they can figure out the mystery behind the rebus. Everyone is ready to go into town but Hunter needs to change his outfit because Amity thinks its cringe. So Hunter is like, okay, ill change and catch the next bus into town.

And then he never shows up

So it's like, hmmm, I wonder where Hunter could be on a day Amity isn't clinging to Luz and is going to be in town for many hours...

AND THEN - the next time anyone else sees him, he comes through the door with Luz lying about where they've been and what they've been doing. It's an obvious lie but no one questions it.

At the faire Amity tells everyone - including Hunter - that she wants to surprise Luz with the rebus after the carriage ride. However, after the "Wittebane Backstory" carriage ride is over Hunter and Luz completely disappear. Amity literally takes her eyes off of them for a moment and they vanish.

Then Gus says THIS as a response to Amity's worry: "Calm down. They probably just went to buy some more cars."

His dialogue here never fails to make me laugh because it sounds like Gus is covering for his bro 😭 and it's even funnier when you realize Gus just retold Hunters lie lksjdsldf

Anyways, right after Gus tells her to calm down, Amity notices the rebus is missing... She knows Luz wouldnt take it because she literally does not know it exists. HUNTER knows about the rebus though - AND he knows Amity wanted to surprise Luz with it. So its like... Why would he take it when he knows she wanted to surprise her girlfriend with it? He must have put two and two together during the carriage ride and knew the rebus was actually going to lead to titan blood [they were unsure if it was going to lead to titan blood initially].

But... that doesn't explain why he would take it... everyone was going to go get the titan blood together right after the ride. Perhaps... Hunter wanted to impress Luz by taking all the credit for uncovering the mystery behind the rebus even though he never showed up when they were looking for information about the rebus in town... That's so strange... why would he do that?

...You dont think he has a thing for Luz do you?

Let me remind you that no one else besides Luz and Hunter think Belos is still alive. Hunter didnt want anyone else to know because he doesnt want to scare them. So Hunter and Luz just VANISHING into thin air is very sus. And then the missing rebus makes their sudden disappearance even more sus because Hunter knows Amity wanted to surprise Luz with it. Also, nobody knows why Hunter stole the rebus from Amity - they NEVER get the answer to this mystery. Hunter - nor Luz - never tell them why he stole it. He never tells them he stole it because he thought Belos was alive. So, it is perfectly logical for them to assume Luz and Hunter DIDNT know Belos was alive UNTIL he intercepted them at the graveyard. Edit: So they can assume Hunter took it so that he could impress Luz with the discovery of the titan blood.

It's so fucking funny to me. It makes it extra funny because they wrote such juicy drama UNINTENTIONALLY. This is the perfect storm for Amity to know about Hunter knowing Luzs secret before she did. It also the perfect set-up for confrontation between Hunter and Amity.

tsubasa tiger is the ultimate culmination of tsubasa's initial arc. its her finally learning to protect herself, to take responsibility for herself, rejecting her angelic perfection for just being a person.

one of the things i really appreciate about it is that it's from her perspective, not from araragis. her growth is something she has to see through herself, and araragis (probably lessened at this point but id imagine still definitely present) idolization of her isnt the lens we need to see her from. we need to see her humanized and you can't do that so much through his pov, or at least you can't do it as much as you need to. cough cough nisioisin stop writing araragi pov so much cough cough

the OP has an uplifting, inspiring, "i'm going to take charge of my life" vibe. but im absolutely in love with the ED. i'm a sucker for those bittersweet songs that feel like they've captured something so pretty and painful about life and don't shy away from it. and what is tsubasa tiger if not that, taking on everything

the letter scene is wonderful, moving, and i love the visuals for it. there's an extended version (wow!) here, with subtitles and voice acting. it might make you cry be careful! i teared up a little bit

a scene i want to talk about in more detail is at the end, where araragi comes and saves her at the last second. i say saves her but. the series hammers in again and again that no one can really "save" another person. if the person being "saved" doesn't let someone else in, doesn't accept their help, then there's no way for them to be saved. the hanekawa who accepted and sat in everything that came her way just couldn't be saved. it's only because hanekawa fought with kako and decided to save herself first, that she was able to get araragi to save her, that she was able to buy enough time for him to come and save her. it's beautiful, and it makes it more beautiful when she returns the favor later :)

Rupert's simpery - start of S4

As a follow up to this:

So in the first few months while he was SUPER PISSED and hated her for leaving him, him denying he missed her, that anger pretty much disappeared when he read the remnants of her diary - he still feel wronged, of course, but he knows now she had a reason for all of that and he feels empathy for Lari - he then thinks about how much she must have suffered in the palace during her time with him all these years (novel details of Ch 115). But what I absolutely love, that I hope they portray somehow in the manhwa (probably the start of S4) is Rupert's POV, which shows us Rupert that has accepted his feelings for her. So we already have Lari's POV of the bakery scene with "black bread guy", but in these chapters we should be seeing Rupert's POV, and it is absolutely delicious.

Basically in Rupert's POV of Chapter 117:

He misses her like crazy, and copes by watching from afar because he's afraid she'll hate and faint at the sight of him if she were to see him. He's glad she works at places with a large window, so he can see her more clearly. This makes him feel a little less miserable.

This particular day, after lehan caught him again, he couldn't help it - his feet and brain worked separately, and he just automatically concealed his identity with alchemy (in the manhwa, stole/borrowed lehan's uniform apparently (?) lol.) But when he was at the bakery door, he couldn't build the strength to actually enter, and his heart was thumping rapidly in anticipation. DOKI DOKI DOKI, so lehan ended up opening the door and entering first. Rupert's feeling stuck because he was scared he couldn't properly hold in his feelings/desires once he was up close to her. HE REALLY WANTED TO GRAB ON TO HER AND HOLD HER TIGHT. Poor guy is afraid of him losing control and simply hugging her.

When she acknowledged him, his thoughts were all about how she lost weight, how she's a little taller, her hair a little longer - she must have struggled since she left, but she was still so damn lovely. He wanted to touch her cheek/neck so much. But he settled for a kiss on the back of her hand instead.

Even though it was a very simple, straightforward kiss, Lari still felt the intensity of his feelings - they were clearly portrayed to her, and she didn't quite understand. It wasn't like it at the debutante when other men out of courtesy kissed it... it was different... just like Rupert's kiss during the debutante.

He cheers up a bit - he had denied it so much, but he absolutely misses her. He finally acknowledges it completely. He missed her large brown eyes, blushing cheeks when embarrassed, and even how her nose scrunched a bit when she laughs. She's the same as ever.

After that day, he started visiting almost every other day to buy the dry, tasteless black break (because he hated "soft white things" cough). Over time, he gained the courage to chat with Lari - but he held himself back from talking and getting too close. He just sat there in silence, sipping tea and eating the bread - which tasted sweet whenever she was around - and just enjoying her presence. His fear of being exposed and scaring her lessened over time, and he gradually relaxed around her as well. He allowed himself to at least make small talk with her, who was trying to be nice and chat with him as well. Whenever she stopped at his table to offer some butter or a baked good, he found it difficult to breathe - he could catch her fresh, grassy scent, and her smile was so dazzling. He endured so much to keep himself from getting closer ---! and then he accidentally grabs her in the start of S4 when she stumbles ^^

ok, so! this fic idea was born from seeing the caption on this post (ty op!!). i've read sports curses / sports magic fic in other fandoms and found it sooo interesting and i want to try writing a fic with a sports magic premise in kaze / rwtw fandom.

truthfully there is VERY LITTLE else so far! no writing even, i am just intrigued by:

magical realism which i've loved since i was a kid, particularly magical realism that just takes existing nonmagical rituals or behaviors and turns them up a notch / gives them real, consequential power in the world

good luck rituals / superstition and sports !!!!!! i just love superstitions in general (but i'm gonna need to do a TON of research for this one) but especially like ... rituals around performance and luck!!

an additional dimension (magic) to the common corporate sports team post-canon for kakehai (and also the chance to look at haiji in a professional sports role that is neither runner nor coach)

the intimacy of staff roles like a cursebreaker's could be, when working directly with an athelete, esp if there is body-related magic!

a chance to really look at how kakeru's college fame affects his professional life — i read somewhere doing research for another fic that top hakone ekiden runners are treated like pop stars and i want to explore that for kakeru!!

the day to day mundane tasks of magic work (collecting items, practicing, idk... like the kind of normal work required of artists is how im thinking abt it: mixing paint, washing brushes, buying canvas, etc. all that work that's adjacent to the Work, yknow)

no idea if that's what you were looking for, haha, but this is kind of how all my projects are in the early stages: just a list of things i'm interested in exploring in the fic.

okay so i already wrote the part 2 for "yours truly" where we get to know his identity but!!!!! i wanted to talk about the little hints i left (well.... looking back on it, they weren't much)

spoilers for my fic so the explanation will be under the cut <3

OKAY. so. let's start by process of elimination, it's pretty easy to tally down the candidates.

characters from part 2 are immediately eliminated bc i NEVER planned to write a part 2 and left the secret admirer in part 1 for sure, so it can only be childe, xiao, diluc, kazuha, albedo, thoma or gorou. i thought the secret admirer not being one of the boys i wrote for would be kinda,,, redundant?? like the point of the fic was trying to find "whodunnit" and if it turned out to be someone random like.. idk. dainsleif? it'd be anti-climactic. like you spent all this time wondering who it is but it turns out to be someone the author didn't even introduce. you'd be disappointed right??? so yeah i didn't do that.

we know a few things about the secret admirer: 1) he gave flowers, 2) he knows your specific coffee order, and 3) he should be in your university in order to place the gifts on your desk (would be kinda wild if he was a neighbor of yours and he had to go to your university just to give you gifts lol)

important note: when the boys tell you something, it's better to take their word for it. only xiao has lied throughout the entire fic!

firstly, we should remove the guys who have explicitly stated they are not the secret admirer: childe and gorou. though they both admitted to having feelings for you, it's not them. they're very mopey, knowing someone else loves you and is actively trying to woo you :(

second, we'll remove the guys who aren't in your university. it's been established that thoma and kazuha are from a different school, whereas i never mentioned diluc anywhere near your uni and you only meet him through the cafe, so he's implied to not study there!

which consequently leaves us with xiao and albedo. ive brought up xiao many times during part 2, some readers were even misled into thinking he's the secret admirer. but there's really nothing to it lol i just wanted to stick him into the story :P

xiao is sus as fuck in part 1 though. he's in a bad mood when he learns someone else likes you. he wouldnt have to be so upset about the gift on your desk if he was the secret admirer! he lied about not seeing the person who placed it there, too. (which is the only lie in the fic. believe me when i say everyone else isn't feigning innocence or lying about not knowing/seeing the admirer)

LASTLYYYY albedo!!!!! he never openly expressed hostility towards the secret admirer, and only said he couldn't help you find out his identity!!

he's offended you don't consider him a possible candidate :(

and like. did no one think this random mention of a garden was suspicious. it came out of nowhere

kazuha told us outright nobody went to buy carnations at the flower shop. why? because albedo already has carnations at home!

it's not a hint you'll understand from just this, but i'll explain a little more. remember how you first met albedo at the library and more or less studied together? well you do study dates more often after that and of course, coffee is often involved when you're cramming information into your head if you want to pass that biology final. albedo is observant enough (and has the good memory for it) to note down your special order when the barista asks for it. (diluc never denied that someone ordered with your recipe too)

fun fact: the ending for part 2 was supposed to be a confession scene and not a lil pov from albedo. couldn't figure out how to go about it and i also felt bad for scaramouche who was supposed to suffer through it

ive been watching a lot of youtube lately, it literally became my best friend, i scrolled through my recommendations and found a 'hickey prank' video, i smiled to myself already knowing im about to do it, and clicked on the video

It was a girl pranking her parents for getting a hickey, i watched the girl make the fake hickey on her neck, and i was considering to ask peter to do one for me that would be more entertaining but that would obviously backfire if i couldnt wipe it out

so i didnt ask him, another thing is that peter and i have been secretly dating for around a month now, my dad, tony stark, strictly told peter that i am off limits but were still dating and its been the best month ever.

anyways, i opened my vanity drawer and got my eye shadow pallet, i decided on a spot to make the 'hickey' and started adding dark colored eye shadow to make it look believable, the end result looked pretty good, and i know that from experience ;)

it ws on the right side of my neck right below my ear, i opened my two braids to cover the 'hickey' took my phone to record this i already know chaotic experience since this is the avengers we're talking about and left my room while i was walking in the hallway i got a text from peter saying:

Steve, Bucky, Bruce and my dad looked relieved, nat, Scott, Wanda, Clint, and Sam looked...disappointed?? And Thor was still clueless as ever, I walked to the counter to stop recording

"YOU WERE RECORDING?" Wanda scoffed

"do not do that to us a again young lady I was gonna get a heart attack" Steve warned leaving the table

and for a second I thought of Peter, I swear he's gonna get killed if they know what 'helping him study' and 'looking after me' means I just rolled my eyes at their stupid behavior

"so y/n didn't get any D yesterday? Poor thing" Sam laughs

"SAM I SWEAR YOUR NEXT ON THE LIST" dad said walking out of the kitchen

"for the first time in forever IM glad this was a prank coz the poor boy would've been dead just by the glares he'll get" I laughed shaking my head after the hilarious prank we cleaned up the kitchen island

"ok guys I'm gonna go to my room to clean this...mess" I gestured to my neck full of smudged make up

"hey guys, what did I miss?" Peter walked in the living room a few minutes after i left

"oh just y/n being y/n, she'll tell you what happened" Scott laughed which confused Peter but he ignored it m opened the fridge to get a snack and go to your room,

like I said it's been a week since he's seen you so he was very excited to kiss you hug you and just shower you with affection...in secret obviously

he knocked on my door doing our secret pattern and barged into my room

"HEY PETER" I almost shouted jumping onto him crossing my legs on his torso and snuggling my headphones to his neck

"ITS BEEN AGES" I whisper shouted

"that it has" he whispered back finally connecting his lips with mine, And slowly walked to the bed, he sat down which resulted in me straddling his lap

"I missed you" I mumbled hovering his lips a bit

"I missed his more" his voice was lower than usual which made my hormones go haywire, he started pampering me with kisses

"well, im glad you feel...normal" I laughed, he started kissing my neck again and unfortunately my dad was walking past my bedroom at the time

"is this a bruise or just a very messy hickey I gave you, coz if it is I better fix it" he smirked already knowing it's not his but just finding an excuse to do one on me

"oh it's just a prank I did to the team which thankfully I recorded so you can see it"

"how bout I make it a real one?" He smirked

"WHAT?" my dad barged in PERFECT TIMING DAD

"PETER BENJAMIN FUCKING PARKER YOU HAVE 3 SECONDS TO LEAVE THIS COMPOUND BEFORE I FRENCH FRY THAT WHAT I THOUGHT WAS INNOCENT BRAIN OF YOURS"
