This is going both on this blog AND in the tags because I'm that.... embarrassed isn't the right word, neither is shy. Alas. You get the idea. Unfortunately my place for putting these sort of thoughts has been barred from me atm so

I've been seeing some posts about whether or not Bucktommy will be there long-term or not and I wanted to share my thoughts.
Of course, no one knows what will happen, but I think the discussion is fun.
I would like to start by saying that before watching the episode 7x04, and based on the promo video, I was conviced that Tommy's character had been introduced to create a jealousy storyline between Buck and Eddie. But then when I watched the episode I discovered that it was a misdirection that was created on purpose and they were instead setting up a Buck and Tommy storyline.
If Tommy had meant to be there temporalily, episode 7x05 would have been the perfect episode to let him go since they had kissed, had a date that didn't end well and Buck would have had all the freedom to explore his sexuality.
But what did they do at the end of the episode ? They doubled down on Bucktommy and had Buck invite him to his sister's wedding. Not another date, not flying classes, his sister's wedding. They're showing how serious Buck is about Tommy.
Another thing that is often an indication of whether or not a love interest is staying long term is the connections they have with other characters, and Tommy has connections to most people in Buck's life except Maddie.
He's friends with Chimney and Hen, worked with Bobby, recently became good friends with Eddie and Christopher loves him!
In my opinion, it wouldn't make sense to bring a chatacter who's already in the 911 universe just for a short time. I mean, they could do it, but it doesn't make a lot of sense.
It's obvious we're witnessing the beginning of a love story.

❝LET'S GO ICE SKATING❞
❦summary; ice skating can be such a fun time, though that may depend on whether you're new to the rink or have a bit of experience under your belt. ♪the characters in this story; pomefiore; vil schoenheit, rook hunt, epel felmier, gn!reader ✎word count; ~783 words ❀what do the ghosts say?; ambiguous, school trip to an ice skating rink, falling chatacters, first times on ice, mentions of climates in respective twst characters homeland, fun times ☛the author's notes; nothing to note... ☪look at the catalogue?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❛VIL SCHOENHEIT❜
❀ We know what I’m about to say
❀ He knows how to skate
❀ Babes, he can do spins, twirls, that one spin thing where they spin around on one leg and hold the other (i don’t know ice skating terms HUAGH-)
❀ You can bet that he probably had to do it for a film set and absolutely killed it
❀ But I think he ended up actually liking it and started doing it in his freetime.
❀ Vil seems like the type who would study ice skating routines for fun
❀ And he genuinely does have fun!
❀ I’d love to see that small, genuine smile as he does ice skating, I think he’d be genuinely enjoy ice skating
❀ He’s in the middle of it all, so elegant and graceful
❀ Of course, Vil is sure to be aware of other skaters and he won’t be doing complicated move sets when there are others around
❀ Vil would definitely give advice to those who want it
❀ Though, like Vil does with teaching others, he’s strict and making sure that you’re getting the techniques right
❀ If you want to just have fun with it and not having overbearing teacher Vil, I believe Vil would be gentler and try not to be as harsh
❀ I do think Vil can give advice like this
❀ Definitely would idly skate around and talk to you if you wanted either
❀ As I’ve already said, Vil goes ice skating in his freetime, but he wouldn’t mind having some company with him.
Tumblr media
❛ROOK HUNT❜
❀ Rook isn’t going to be skating
❀ No, no, no, you have it all wrong
❀ Go and skate on the ice, he’ll be fine watching from the side! Don’t worry!
❀ It isn’t long before you hear the shutter click and there Rook is with his camera held to his face
❀ And, of course, Rook was smiling brightly, making a gesture to continue whatever you were doing
❀ It won’t be awkward if you don’t make it awkward, I swear
❀ But Rook will be photo taking over ice skating, mostly due to the fact that, since this is a school trip, pictures are needed
❀ And who better to take pictures than Rook?
❀ It’s not that Rook isn’t good at ice skating or is trying to avoid the ice
❀ In fact, he’s actually pretty good on the ice!
❀ Like, when he really gets focused and isn’t gushing over how everyone is skating so beautifully, Rook is really graceful and like so pretty
❀ And if you ask him to, he would definitely give little tips and tricks, nothing elaborate like Vil, but he would help you with balance
❀ He does get a bit more focused when it comes to more complicated tricks (he learned those from watching Vil) and Rook has this very focused expression on his face
❀ In my opinion, this would be one of those perfect picture moments
❀ Take a picture of him in return, it’ll say more than the thousands of words he always says <3
Tumblr media
❛EPEL FELMIER❜
❀ He refuses to get on the ice
❀ I’m serious, Epel refuses to get onto the ice
❀ It’s not that Epel doesn’t know how to ice skate
❀ Being from Harveston, it did snow every year, so of course he’d know how to sled and ice skate
❀ The thing about ice skating is that, even though he knows how to ice skate, he doesn’t want to actively be doing it
❀ Because, by Epel’s words, he’s not “a dainty little ice dancer”
❀ Vil would like to have words with him
❀ It’s like watching a pouty child get scolded by their mother
❀ Now, once Epel has been properly educated, he will (begrudgingly) get onto the ice
❀ Epel would probably just try to stick to the outer edge of the rink and would refuse to go towards the center where most of the others were
❀ Now, if you do manage to get him towards the middle, he’ll definitely try to have a bit more fun with it (though Ace isn’t really helping with his whole... thing going on)
❀ But Epel will still say that he’s not enjoying it
❀ Honestly, Epel wouldn’t be someone to do this in his freetime
❀ Maaaybe with some convincing, he could do it by himself
❀ But Epel would mostly prefer to do it with a group of friends
❀ I think, for him, ice skating it one of those activities that you wouldn’t do on your own but if a group of friends is going, then he would be “yeah sure”
❀ Epel is probably going to get off the rink and try to go sledding instead and get a few others to join him
❀ And just like he’s dragged onto the ice, Epel’s going to drag you with him to slide along the snow

I apologize if you're not the right person to ask but I've been wondering this for a while and since you both enjoy (but are critical of) lmk and also enjoy/know a lot about jttw I figure you may be a decent person to ask. And I mean this is as an entirely genuine question.
Jttw has so many different adaptations and parodies and, for lack of a better term, spinoffs, why is it that LMK in particular seems to get so much more criticism? How is it different from any other story that uses jttw as a base?
I was under the impression that while a lot of events and chatacters have been changed or tweaked in some ways (looking at red son in particular, as well as seemingly replacing Buddha with the jade emperor, I could go on) it was still relatively faithful at least in spirit. It has a lot of callbacks and mentions to the book, even if it's more or less an AU of the original story.
So why is it that its adaptation in particular seems so...disliked I suppose? Or at least takes a lot more criticism than other adaptations. I could take a few guesses (fandom (and its lack of knowledge of the source material) being a big one, or otherwise being more western than the story probably should be) but as someone who was introduced to jttw by lmk (reading the book now and having a blast with it) I'm curious and confused as to why it seems to be disliked when there are so many other jttw adaptations that also change fair chunks of the story, and those don't seem to garner the same level of criticism.
And I apologize again if you're maybe the wrong person to ask, but I wasn't sure where else to start, if you know anyone who can maybe answer this better I'd love to hear from any of them as well, I've been so curious about this for a while.
no worries at all, and i appreciate the ask!
i do wanna preface this by saying that i have very little interaction with the LMK fandom, and mostly heard the horror stories through the grapevine or by others telling me their own experience with it. and make no mistake, this sideblog is very much me laser focusing on the few stuff i enjoy of the show and expanding on those and filling in the rest with a lot of plaster and spite ajdhawjhbdh
i will keep most of my vitriol to myself though, and that the opinion i'm giving is my own. there's a lot of good folks who are more than welcome to pitch in with their own criticisms here, for a larger poll of voices.
read more cus this is long xvx
as you have said, JTTW has an overwhelming amount of retelling, rewrites, sequels, prequels, adaptations, what have you. trust me, there is a JTTW adaptation for everyone out there and it's part of the beauty and appeal of it. and equally, everyone has their pros and cons for each of them.
one major point to keep in mind is that LMK has a very online fanbase, and it's an abnormally large one. it also has fans on the west and in china, and the language barrier tends to keep both rather separate, for better or worse. so a larger fanbase means a larger pool of criticism simply by law of averages.
another thing to keep in mind is that, because it is so large, a lot of people are getting into JTTW thanks to it, and it's exactly those changes that make it even more of a hurdle for people to meet JTTW where it's at. and by that i mean, a very different worldview and belief system than known in the west.
i've been in the JTTW fandom properly for, three months now?? three and a half lol and the amount of reading and studying i've been doing to just scratch at the depth of centuries of cultural context is not insignificant. and i'm only just starting! it's a wonderful experience, but not many in the LMK fandom are as eager or willing to learn all that, much less listen when people correct them on things that they believe, that are factually false. and that can be deeply frustrating for those who simply want to share in the joy of learning.
it's incredibly demeaning and patronizing, to have such an old and rich culture reduced to a single adaptation that rly lambasts the roots of its entire premise for existing. no other fans of other adaptations have that kind of attitude that i've come across; those are all understood as AUs and not to be taken as gospel, but some of the fandom treat LMK as the end all be all of JTTW media and it's, infuriating.
beyond the fandom leaving one hell of a bitter taste, there's the fact that LMK is a very westernized view and parody of JTTW. it breaks not only with the lore of it, but with the very fundamentals of Buddhist and Daoist cosmology. those changes you mentioned, like the JE replacing Buddha and then the guy getting killed, the absence of several concepts and deities, and sometimes the very change of them, are incredibly disrespectful on their own. it's very hard to remove JTTW from its religious roots (it can be done but those usually read more as "inspired by" rather than proper adaptations), and to do so by filling the empty space with a Greco-Christian view of cosmology is... A Big Ol Yikes.
while we in the west might be okay turning stuff like Christian, Norse, Greek, etc. mythology upside down for our stories, it comes off as disrespectful to do the same for an overall dismissed and ignored religion in the west like Daoism, and even more so for such a sprawling one as Buddhism. that attitude does not translate well at all, and to be faithful only in spirit is simply not enough. you wouldn't (i hope) say that about people who appropriate Indigenous or closed faith beliefs for their own use; it's 2023 surely we don't need to revive the W-nd-ig- debate again, or the Lilith one. (i can for further context but i'd rather not, but you're than welcome to google it)
at the end of the day, an AU is just an AU until you're using it to sell toys and it has turned into a massive entry window for many western fans into a foundational piece of literature for an entire country that has been and still is routinely degraded and discriminated against.
i hope this hasn't come off as too harsh, but this is smth that rly grinds my gears and i tend to be a bit stern when discussing it. none of it was aimed at you anon, i know you're just trying to understand the situation and i do appreciate the effort you're making!!

Hey, it's the same anon again. Thank you for the reply, I completely relate to everything you wrote!
I'd like to add that people often call Jack an asshole who "doesn't understand" other survivors, but the truth is, other survivors don't understand him either.
For example, I've seen many viewers bashing Jack for snapping at Kate in s1e12, after she retrieved her toy airplane, but they seem to forget the events of the earlier episodes.
Jack was the one who ultimately had to put down the marshal and even buried him by himself (Kate asked him why he didn't burn the marshal with the other bodies in the fuselage, and his answer was "I had to bury him").
Obviously, taking this man's life was a difficult moment for Jack (it's also implied that he sees mercy killing as murder), then just a few days later, Kate casually asks him to dig up the marshal's body, essentially asking him to reopen a painful wound. She then tries to deceive him with the key, and when he keeps his promise to her despite everything, she pulls out a random plastic airplane and shuts him out as if he didn't just desecrate a grave to help her retrieve this seemingly useless toy...
(I love Kate btw don't get me wrong hehe)
Omg Anon I love your cut-to-the-chase approach because YES! "Other survivors don't understand Jack", say it louder for the people in the back!
Let's be clear: I'm NOT making excuses for Jack's behavior. If people check my blog they will see that I call him out quite often. The thing is that I think that the way he reacts kinda makes sense with how the narrative treats him.
Let's take Kate as an example since you've brilliantly pointed out how people tend to side with her and call Jack a douche. Which okay, fair BUT.
Premise: I love Kate. I don't find her relatable at all but she's a goldmine in terms of characters whose potential was squandered because of a love triangle that ended in S3. But I digress.
Kate is a deeply, deeply flawed chatacter like honestly ALL characters on that damn island. This is not a flaw but she is like the other losties in that she sees Jack as an IDEAL.
Of course, compared to other people she actually gets to know him etc. But she's primarily fascinated by Jack because she wants his approval and validation so badly (I'll link some of my metas about this specific topic) sometimes it makes her look a bit... confused.
Take for instance that episode in S1 or maybe 2? where she drugs Jack. Not cool, am I right? Well, Jack finds out and takes it out on her but he's also quite soft about it. Well, to that what does Kate reply? She actually tells Jack in the face something like "how could you even think that I'd do something like that?".
I meaaaaaan, guuuuuurl. Come on. This is Manipulation 101. You can't get mad cause he got you. Change tactics. But no, she insists because she wants Jack The HeroTM to tell her she's a good girl.
I find all this absolutely compelling and fascinating because it makes Kate feel more 3D and alive and real. As any human being who's full of contradictions and unknown desires.
To sum it up: even Kate tends to see Jack not as Jack Shephard, A Real MessTM but as Jack The Good Guy.
If you ask ME who on that crazy island better understood the real Jack I'd say Sawyer.
Their relationshio could have been so much more than a love triangle and I'll forever be mad about it.
Thanks again Anon! Your smart takes give me the excuse to yap and I'm loving every second! Hahhaha!
My Meta about Kate (THEY ARE VERY LONG POSTS): detailed but incomplete analysis of the ep "I Do' (it's incomplete cause nobody was reading it so I stopped posting it).
foundational analysis of Kate, "What Kate Did" is THEE Lost episode.

I have seen a lot of hate for BotBots on social media sites so I want to share my thoughts on it. Please note that I have consumed every cartoon, movie, and almost every comic over the past 30+ year history of the franchise and that variety is key to have a long lasting fandom like Transformers.
I think it's very refreshing when my kids (17 and 9, respectively) and I (an older 30 something) can enjoy the same Transformers show. We are 3 very different Transformers fans in terms of what and who we like, but there we were this morning laughing hysterically over BotBots. We binge watched the entire 10 episodes. My kids and I have nothing but love for this show, and if you go in expecting nothing, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
But why are some fans so hellbent on hating a show like this? Why constantly demand all shows cater to one specific type of fan? It seems silly to limit the potential of bringing in new young fans. Times change, and you have to accept that Transformers has to change with it.
Because let's be real, Transformers wasn't always a dark, dreary colorless drama for adults. G1 was a bright, colorful toy ad to appeal to the youth of the 1980s, and the characters were filled with humor and personality relevant to that generation. Botbots nails that very same concept for a modern day kids audience and I applaud this show for not being another depressing, edgy, heavy political drama full of stuffy and pretentious dialouge in some half assed attempt to please snooty geeks who want to gatekeep children out of a fandom that is based on toys.
Alien robots are for everyone. There is no rule that states all Transformers content must cater to adults only all the time. There's also no rule that says Transformers is just for kids. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.
Botbots did whatever the heck it wanted to do (there's a whole episode centered on LARPing, another one about going to Prom, and one episode has Burgertron admitting he writes fanfic!) and it all works great because it doesn't care what "hardcore" or "real" fans think. The levels of chaos and insanity in this show is glorious, but so is the relatable-ness of the main chatacters. It's truly heartwarming to see those little bots trying to find their way amongst their own kind that repeatedly rejects them for being too different or for messing everything up just by existing. Kinda like how I feel in the Transformers fandom most of the time.
And of course the serious political drama side of Transformers has a place in the fandom too. Just because I love TFPrime and the MTMTE/LL comics, doesn't mean I have to stop loving Car Robots and Cyberverse.
This post is not bashing those who enjoy the Netflix trilogy/Combiner Wars trilogy or the current comics. I love them dearly, as I love all TF media, and they deserve to exist in the fandom. I'm glad they do.
This post is about how some fans have been trying to keep out new or younger ones by being hyper critical toward a show with a different target audience than what they are. Bashing the fans who enjoy stuff like BotBots or Rescue Bots is ultimately unhelpful. It drives people away from participating in fandom spaces, making diversity of thought in those fan places stagnant.
New fans = growth. Growth = more cool new stuff. It's not advanced science folks. (Leave that to Brainstorm and Shockwave please.)
This post is about making room for a variety of shows and being inclusive to all fans, whether they like IDW, Bayverse, the Unicron trilogy, BW, RiD2015, or whatever. And for a fandom that revolves around characters physically changing their bodies, some of y'all ironically have issues accepting changes.
It's sad that adult fans can't appreciate humor and joy in animated shows anymore and feel the need to rip on stuff like BotBots or Rescue Bots Academy to somehow make their own nerd butts look superior. Because in their minds, why should Transformers be fun or inclusive for everyone?
I've been told numerous times that those who don't like the more mature content within the fandom don't matter or belong here 🙄 which brings up something else I've been wanting to say to some adult fans on various TF Facebook pages:
Black Lives Matter. If you have a problem with two black kids being the main characters in the upcoming new show Earthspark, then gtfo of this fandom and go die mad about it you racist twatwaffles. It absolutely enrages me to see adults make gross racist comments about children, and hate like that has no place in this fandom.
I look forward to watching Earthspark with my kids and giving it a chance, as well as seeing Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback in the new live action Transformers movie 'Rise of the Beasts' next summer.
Because at the end of the day, if I can get a cool action figure to add to my collection, see the joy in my kids eyes as we spend time together watching a cartoon, read people's indepth analysis of characters, or give likes to cool fanarts by talented people inspired by Transformers, then it's all worth it. That's some of the stuff that makes our fandom so much fun, and that is what keeps me coming back for the past 30 years now, and hopefully 30 more years yet to come.
Until then... Til all are one! ❤

ok i'll try to make this as succinct as possible but i have a theory about genshin's future plotline
okay so here's the thesis: the Tsarista is on a mission to destroy Celestia.
Celestia, while established as what kinda helped the Archons be the Big Seven we know today, isn't entirely benevolent. if you read into the background of Dragonspine, you'll learn that there was once a relatively prosperous civilization there (and the mountain itself wasn't frozen over). however, with no real reason its princess foresaw the future of Dragonspine being cold as hell. then, from Celestia came the Skyfrost nail - what currently keeps Dragonspine so cold. while it's not entirely clear what happened to that civilization, i'm pretty sure they're dead now.
OKAY. so why did i say that? well, i'm saying that to put forward the idea that Celestia isn't a super good place. i think Celestia wants to keep an iron grip over how things are - i mean it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the Unknown God, the "Sustainer of Heavenly Principles" was someone a part of it.
now, the reason i think the Tsaritsa's goals pertain to Celestia is because around 500 years ago she suffered something that turned her from a more benevolent god into how we know her today. while i don't have evidence, i'm willing to bet that it had something to do with Celestia, which inspired her to be on the path she's on today.
okay great. now, i think this partly explains why Zhongli was willing to trade his Gnosis - correct me if i'm wrong but he wasn't necessarily looking to be the Dad of Geo until the severity of the Archon war struck those around him, namely Havria (god of salt) and Guizhong (god of dust). again, correct me if i'm wrong but the Archon war was due in part to the race for the seven seats of Godhood (created by Celestia). so of course upon hearing the Tsaritsa's proposal, he'd agree, so long as he knew his people would be willing to stand on their own.
so why was she so rough with Venti? well, simply put, we don't know enough why. we just know that after that event roughly 500 years ago, the Tsarista was no longer on such good terms with Venti.
well now we can assume the Tsaritsa will be working on all the other Archons, and we'll just have to meet them to find out if/how they'll help her.
that leaves one final factor: the Abyss Order.
as of right now, we know that the missing sibling runs them, and that the same sibling was cubed first by the Unknown God and released at a time prior to our story. we know that Dainsleif is familiar with them, and our sibling. it's possible the two worked with the Abyss before Dainsleif was like "nah i hate the Abyss".
Dainsleif is notorious in both his narration and in the Teyvat storyline for being critical of the gods, and i'm willing to bet it's because of their relationship with Celestia.
So why hate the Abyss Order if they seem like the antithesis of all things status quo?
because i mentioned our missing sibling. if the Unknown God works with Celestia, and possibly has control over our missing sibling...what's stopping us from also putting forward that the Abyss Order was created by the very same people? we know that Celestia isn't worried about putting people in harms way (i.e. Dragonspine) in order to get what they want.
It's very possible that they created the Abyss Order to scare people into relying upon their gods and their subsequent Vision-wielders.
i don't doubt that Dainsleif found out about this and set out to work against the Abyss order, even taking on the idea that he would take power from "beyond". i'm also willing to bet that the incident of 500yrs ago allowed the Tsaritsa to come to a similar conclusion as well.
GREAT. all good and valid points but i have one last thing to possibly bring this all home.
Albedo was introduced in conjunction with Dragonspine, and is a surprisingly lore-heavy character. it's been hypothesized that he's a homunculus, and i think someone from Khaenri'ah - a land without gods. i may be making a stretch here but what if Khaenri'ah's the birthplace of the Abyss? and if the Abyss is obsessed with the status quo set in place by Celestia, why else would Albedo remark to himself that he would one day destroy Monstadt?
in truth, i think Albedo was created by Celestia in retaliation of Venti's laissez-faire ruling of Monstadt, and the whole thing with Stormterror was just a way to get him back into action. however, with Venti's Gnosis getting yeeted out, i think Celestia may have just thought "hm we sent that Albedo guy a while ago let's just wreck the place now that Venti's kinda useless to us"
WHICH BRINGS ME TO 1.4 THE WINDBLUME FESTIVAL I'M SO SORRY THIS GOT LONGER THAN I EXPECTED.
so. we all saw that upside-down Statue of Seven by the Abyss Herald. i'd imagine that maybe, just MAYBE Celestia doesn't wanna go full-nuclear on Monstadt yet and wants to get rid of Venti and figure out a way to make the land of freedom...less free. which is why they send the Herald.
i'm not SAYING Venti's gonna die, but MHY has killed its chatacters before, and this would be an interesting way to push the plot forward.
after this, we hit Inazuma, and the Tsaritsa will likely have a more difficult time getting the Bakufu's Gnosis because of the events that could happen in 1.4. i digress, the Tsaritsa will wanna fight celestia, and if Venti dies? well, she's gonna use that to convince the other gods why it's so imperative to fight back.

Your response was so right and I really liked the posts you linked as well!
And like, idk but I feel like people saying “oh this book is ableist” is a very blanket statement while ignoring that most people didn’t know the r word was a slur in like 2015 which is around when the books came out. Like this wasn’t common knowledge to people, and it still isn’t common knowledge to a lot of people! It’s fine to warn people before reading like, “hey this book has ableist language by the way so watch out for that” but that doesn’t mean Nora is ableist.
Also like as a woc, i have my own issues with people thinking the books are racist. I think Nicky could’ve definitely been handled better, but idk my thoughts about Nicky are more like “look how much he gave up for his cousins and how much he cared about them” instead of specifically the bad stuff he does. Like they’re all traumatized, I don’t expect them to be perfect or not say bad things. As for making all the villains asian, I feel like people just forget,,,,about Nathan? And Lola? And literally everyone in the scene where Neil gets kidnapped? And Drake? Like with all of the shitty people in aftg, I don’t even consider the yakuza the bad guys, only Riko and Tetsuji. My friend described it as Nora just having like “white blindness” and not realizing how stuff she writes can come across rather than intentionally being harmful, which makes a big difference to me.
I also hate the take that it’s like aphobic, considering Nora is aro ace and that there are people who don’t know what asexual or aromantic means. While it’s not great for Nicky to constantly push Neil for his sexuality, I also don’t blame him for not knowing that Neil is demisexual, especially considering that Neil didn’t know himself! And especially because there’s still so much ace discourse on tumblr! Like people still don’t know stuff about asexuality and aromanticism, so why do you expect her to write characters who are experts in it?
I think people forget that writing about problematic characters doesn’t make the author problematic. Also I agree that I don’t think aftg is even written that badly, but I also base books on how they make me feel, and I’ve been into aftg for 2 years (which is relatively long for me to be into something).
Sorry I rambled a lot but I just don’t like all the aftg hate, nor do I get repeating the criticism for it if people already know.
You bring up some very good points and It makes me want to go on another rant. And don't worry, I loved hearing your thoughts.
So the same warning here. Some discussions of racism, ableism and aphobia below the cut.
In general, I think accusing complete strangers of being x-phobic is a worse thing to do than defending them. Innocent until proven wrong, you know. I don't think there's enough proof of Nora being ableist in the books, and saying that she is can be very harmful. Here's a great post about aftg and ableism, and I'm glad you liked the previous ones :D
The yakuza wasn't even the main villain there. Considering it's well, the mafia, it didn't have that negative role. Ichirou wasn't portrayed as vicious and cruel, Nathan was. Ichirou didn't turn the nest into hell, Riko and Tetsuji did.
Riko was a complex character who had his motives and his race didn't have to do anything with his actions. If Nora wrote that Riko tortured people because he was Asian (? How??, but still), that would be racist.
This may be a controversial opinion, but I really don't like when people act like minorities can't be bad people. Isn't basing expectations of them on their race... racist?
Imagine saying Nathan being the villain of the story was anti-red haired people (let's pretend he's ginger, because there are people who actually hate them, for some reason. And I'm not comparing race to hair color, it's just the same logic). Wouldn't that be ridiculous? Especially because Neil, a flawed chatacter who's also one of the "good guys" has red hair too.
As a white person, I know I don't understand racism as well as poc, so correct me if I'm being wrong. I know that good representation is very important. But is having both white and poc characters being morally gray and deeply flawed that racist?
I really like the term "white blindness". Sometimes people come across as racist by accident or not thinking things through properly and it's so nice of you and your friend to acknowledge this.
(Like now I think I'm somehow being racist but I really am not. I don't know if what I said conveyed my opinion well, but please don't hesitate to send me another ask if you think I'm being one.)
I think aphobia is very compicated in the books. Of course Nicky saying life can't be good without a significant other and that he would give Neil a little "push" was clearly aphobic. Because Neil had said that he didn't swing before that and Nicky didn't believe him.
But considering how little known demisexuality was in the 00's, was Matt assuming Neil was gay after he found out about him and Andrew aphobic too? I think if Neil had explained that he was only attracted to Andrew, not men in general, Matt would have believed him.
Of course, in the end it doean't matter in this discussion because writing about it doesn't make Nora aphobic. It's purely realistic, both the people being assholes and just ignorant of it.
I've heard people say both, that they loved how trauma was handled in the books and that they hated it. It's clear that the books aren't for everyone. It usually leaves the reader either completely in love with it or filled with hate. Love and hate are both very strong emotions and people "criticizing" it isn't new either. I just hope it doesn't get to the point where aftg is just known as this horrible book and people don't even bother with reading it before judging it and writing hateful posts.

For the Chatacter Break Down Ask, Could you please Do Geoff? Thank You!
BLESS U FOR THIS (sorry it took so long)
How I feel about this character
I FUCKING LOVE HIM!!!! Like I know I kinda romanticize him? He became my comfort character when I was a kid because I was like “he just wants to be supportive and be friends with people”.....which I know isn’t totally how he always is, but I guess it’s how I saw him. Either way...really love this boy.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Bridgette!!! They’re like, a huge comfort ship to me! I’m a bit of a fan of Brody x Geoff x Bridgette, but Bridgeoff will always be my fave! (Also: no one can stop me from calling it Bridgeoff and not Gidgette)
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I want him to be friends with the Rockers from Ridonculous Race! And I wish his friendship with Gwen was like.....a thing that Fresh remembered happened.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I know I let my personal distaste for Duncan get in the way of how I interpret him, but fuck it: Geoff and Duncan should not be friends. Maybe my opinions is just tainted by how bad Duncan is in later seasons, and my weird personal interpretation of Geoff...but yeah. Not a fan of that bromance
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I’m not sure there really is anything? He’s one character that I feel like the show actually did pretty okay with, at least in terms of his plot.

Kik Roleplay
About Me
Hi! My name is Kelsey! I am a nineteen year old college student who is currently looking for a longterm role-play partner. I have been writing for about six to seven years now, so I certainly have experience though I only have about one good partner to show for it. I suck at talking about myself so keep reading to learn more about what I’m looking for in a role-play! x
Fandoms
Below are a list of fandoms I would be willing to write for. They are in a particular order; one being my favorite and descending from there.
5 Seconds of Summer. No particular favorite.
One Direction. Zayn Malik or Harry Styles.
OCS.
All Time Low. Alex Gaskarth.
Waterparks. Awsten Knight.
As It Is. Patty Walters.
With Confidence. Josh Brozessi.
Riverdale. Jughead Jones.
Stranger Things. No particular favorite.
Requirements
When engaging in a role-play with me, these are some things you should know.
I only write in third person. Though this does not mean that you have to write in third person as well, it would be greatly appreciated.
If you choose not to write in third person, I ask that you DO NOT refer to my character as you. Use the pronouns he, she, they, etc. when speaking about my chatacter.
I only do doubles. If you are interested in only one plot, I’m probably not the person for you. For some odd reason I lose muse very fast when writing for only one plot. If this seriously makes or breaks it for you, shoot me a message and we can discuss it.
As for writing requirements, lengthy and detailed responses are an absolute must. I am a firm believer in the phrase quality over quanity, however I do ask that you keep the responses at least to a kik page minimum. This being said, I average at hitting the character limit though I have also been known to go over.
Please, please, please be okay with darker and more mature themes. I absolutely despite role-plays of nothing but fluff and happiness. Give me angst, give me drama, give me tension, give me danger... The darker the better in my humble opinion.
Communicate! For the love of all that is good, please communicate with me. If you dislike something I say, tell me. If you dislike the way I made my character behave, tell me. If you have an idea and want me to change something, tell me! I am not going to get angry at you or bite your head off, I appreciate it. I want us both to enjoy these, alright?
Plots I Like
Dark, angsty, dramatic plots.
Unique plots. Give me classic tropes written in new and exciting ways. Please don’t make me read a prompt or idea that we’ve been seeing since 2012. Spice it up, make me excited to write with you!
Mild DD/LG. I use the term mild because I’m uncomfortable with extreme age play. Please don’t give me diapers, pacifiers, bibs and bottles. Little space is fine, coloring is fine, pastel pink aesthetics and pigtails are fine but don’t make it extreme. Sorry if that’s an inconvenience!
Mature plots. This meaning drugs, alcohol, smut, and mentions of other illegal topics.
Age gaps. I know many people despise these so it’s not something I’ll push on you, but I am a huge sucker for them!
Taboos. Same as the age gap above, inquire more privately about this if you’re interested.
Plots I Dislike
The list below includes ideas that I refuse to write. Most of these are not negotiable, though if it’s a deal breaker, message me privately and we can try to work something out.
Strictly fluff.
Medieval plots. This includes royalty plots such as princesses and things. These I will negotiatie with you if the plot has legitimate legs to stand on and isn’t just a bunch of inaccurate cliches.
Terminal illnesses such as cancer. The only way I will even consider allowing this is if you yourself are struggling with the disease. I understand that writing about traumas can help relieve stress and pain.
Fantasy plots such as vampire, werewolves and just about everything else you could think of. I’m awful at writing for plots like these.
Pregnancy plots. Happy marriages and pregnancies aren’t really my style, sorry.
I’m sure there are others but luckily for you I can’t think of anything else!
So, that should be it!
I know I am incredibly anal-retentive about a lot of this stuff, and I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable in anyway. I’m desperate for a role-play that actually satisfies me as it’s been a long time since that’s happened. If you’re interested but don’t have any fandoms in common, feel free to shoot me a message here and we can work something out together! I’m super nice and incredibly easy to work with, so feel free to shoot me a message regarding any questions, comments or concerns and I’ll get back to you right away! Thanks again, darlings.
My Kik: @VLNTINES
• Do not message me if you are just a horny man looking for pictures. I absolutely will not send them, and you’ll be blocked immediately.
Posted: September 2, 2018.
Status: Still looking as of October 8, 2018.

Long Term RP Partner Wanted
Hello! My name's Reese, Im 20 and Ive been roleplaying for about 8 years now! I live the the central time zone, however I will rp with anyone from any time zone. Im looking for a reliable rp partner, just someone who I can trust to not up and disappear in the middle of a good story. I love creating worlds of fantasy or horror and building chatacters and relationships! I dont really have any triggers when it comes down to it; I dont roleplay a specific, small handful of kinks but I can be negotiated with. Overall Im a sucker for NSFW roleplays! Though not purely sex based-I love roleplays with gore, trauma, psychological horror, etc. Which I know are technically classified as NSFW (buuut Ive been known to overlap the smut with the gore for some of yall fellow freaky-deaks out there ;) Im a medical nerd, so my horror, gore, and psyche stuff are pretty within the realm of our reality and I stick to medical accuracies. Unless of course its a monster or a demon, then things get a little wild. I mostly find myself roleplaying MxM but Id honestly roleplay anything between any characters! I roleplay for the sake of a good plot and character relationship rather than carnal desires. Rules: • At least be 18 + to contact me • ONLY roleplays 3rd POV • ONLY writes para/multi-paragraph responses aka literature styled responses • Im really down to roleplay anything, just ask me about it before we integrate it into our story and Ill do all the same for you as well! Rp is about it being fun for the both of us. OvO Fandom/OCs: • I have a plethora of original characters, most are fandomless monsters or creatures of some sorts! But Im always making new ones • I also roleplay a select few fandom characters, heres just a few of the fandoms Ill rp: - Rise of the Guardians (Blackice) - Danny Phantom (Pompous pep/badger cereal) - Rick and Morty Usually I Rp as the sub character, but I can be dom as well! I just typically fill the slot of a sub better in sub/dom scenarios. Or victim characters in place of a horror scene. Most of my characters are power bottoms, switches, or total subs B) For more info feel free to contact me! Of Decisions and Dungeons...
Our characters reached level 5! Exciting times for my wizard character with a reputation for burning everything in sight... It feels like we’ve levelled up really quickly recently, compared to at the start. Not that I’m going to complain, because things are getting even more interesting. I’m looking forward to experiencing more of the world that the DM has created. It’s clear that they really enjoy coming up with interesting characters and new ideas, down to tiny (sometimes really bizarre) details about the furnishings or the food and drink, and that helps with our immersion in the story. Being a very visual person, I appreciate that effort. They also enjoy putting on funny voices and mannerisms, which gets everyone playing along. Being a newbie, I have little prior experience, and I stay out of the monster manual, because I’d like to enjoy surprises without spoiling myself.  I do sometimes read people’s blogs about DMing, mainly because they make you realise how much effort and passion people put into crafting an intricate story for their friends. And in turn that helps me appreciate our game more. The sheer amount of effort people put in, every session, is humbling. The main thing I struggle with is simply time; when it’s been a few weeks since our last game, and I’ve forgotten basics that my character would clearly remember (because they happened an hour ago, or are hugely important to them), and I’m devising fast ways of taking notes that remind me of the most salient details. That even includes things like my character’s motivations; recently I’ve changed my journal to not only include her thoughts about her party mates, but also what her aims and thoughts are, in the short term and longterm. Because every session I’ll think of something that she would want to ask, or is thinking about. In some ways this is even more important tha remembering the names of the villages we’ve been to, or the names of our antagonists, because it helps me develop the charcter from one session to the next. I’ve also realised that our characters have yet to share a lot about themselves with each other. And we operate a reasonably conservative policy about each other’s character sheets, so I don’t know much about some of the characters at all. I don’t even know what class our newest party members is! I look forward to a little more roleplay and finding out about the characters now that they’ve established some bonds. Although I thought my character was pretty well fleshed out when I started (as well as you can be at first level), I’m realising new things about how they see and respond to the world, and it’s interesting how much you develop them as they go along. I’m happy for my character to do things that I wouldn’t do in real life (or wouldn’t approve of; there are some pretty questionable decisions... she’s a lot less mature than she thinks she is), as long as it makes sense with her own internal logic.  I hope these are actions that her party can accept, though we love some drama, and we usually play well of each other’s actions. At the very least, I think all of us as players should make sure the other players are OK with the direction of things. I don’t believe in being that one player who is always doing the opposite of what veryone else wants, and I’m a little afraid of accidentally being that person. Because I want everyone to have fun. We’ve gained a new party member, and his character seems interesting, I really like  the dynamic starting to develop, and I think their player is having fun playing them. However, they aren’t yet trusted by the rest of the party.  We’ve just experienced the violent death of one of their friends at the hands of random strangers, and the party get set upon every so often by sinister enemy forces. As you’d expect. It’s absolutely reasonable that the flirty new party member who happens to say “oh, I happen to be heading in the same direction, can I come along?” is a little suspicious. Nobody  wants the group dynamic of ‘don’t trust that one party member’ (the player even jokingly commented “Oh great, I’m the Ted Bundy of the group!” because we didn’t trust his character to stand watch alone), and my PC is particularly un-trusting. Obviously, on my part,I don’t want one of us to feel like they aren’t really in the party, because team hijinks are more fun when everybody is included.  And yet, it would make no sense for a bunch of people who frequently get attacked by shady forces to instantly trust someone they’ve literally just met, who has so far done nothing much for them. Once we see them in action, if they fight on our side, I’m sure they’ll earn some trust... I think it’d make sense for our chatacters to let up a little after that. Meanwhile, I’m looking forward keeping making bad (but plausible) decisions...

Coming back to this a few hours later, my opinion has changed a bit.
On the whole, I think the issue itself was fine, and given what they had to work with, the way Shadow got metallized was....alright.
The tricky thing here is that Shadow is by all means IC. The problem is that he's IC for what Sega sees him as, which is not how most people (including me for the record) see him. Taking that into consideration, I think Shadow was handled relatively okay. Not ideal (Ideal world he'd have his 06 or even Archie characterization which were much better but that's an impossibility), but okay.
In terms of how he gets metallized, I do like that it happens in part due to his arrogance. There's been a running theme in this arc of the chatacter's flaws (or even defining traits) coming back to bite them in the ass that I actually like, considering that most of the time, these flaws only exist in theory. However, most of them could have been handled just a smidge better and this is no exception.
I think what could've happened was that everything goes down the same way it does in the issue proper until Shadow gets infected. Despite everyone telling him to get the fuck out of there and save himself, he realizes that like this, he's essentially a ticking time bomb endangering the ones he wants to protect, so instead he tells everyone to get out of there while he tries to hold them off as long as possible. Eventually he gets overwhelmed and turns.
I think that would've been better than what we got, but I think what we got was pretty okay all things considered.
Have you seen the complaints about IDW Shadow? Opinion?
Having read the issue myself? Outside of a few comments that felt a bit harsh even for him ,the complaints are mostly unwarranted imo.
Also people complaining about the JOKE Sonic made at Shadow's expense are acting like complete and utter morons.
Though I will say this: it does feel like both Shadow and Omega's characterization had some "influence" from up on high (SEGA mainly) considering they did feel different from how Ian normally writes them. Which I will admit is unfortunate since while Shadow was technically IC this entire issue, SEGA's vision for him ultimately kinda sucks.
But I do think the issue manages to work in spite of that, so I still think it was fine.
