My haitani father Shio headcanon is just a bit too funny cuz of how well it works that it sounds like a waste of perfect canon idea and crossover for both of wakui's works.

Aside from the obvious physical features very very obvious, identical eyes, nose, blonde eyebrows, rindou's face form, ran's hair color palette and (arguably) bonten hair style, blah blah i mean just look a the pictures below, you can also bring up any fact from either manga and add it to the hc and it fits in just SO WELL, i'll give the first example, The Haitanis are very obviously rich spoiled kids like have you seen their apartment? They have a fucking dj set, only rich kids with neglective powerful parents will have no problem paying for that, just saying, and even though i love him let's be real Shio is the type to be that parent, i mean cmon he's rich like crazy rich (filthy yakuza money yum yum) he tots would give his children WAY more than enough allowance so they can leave him alone, also the way they act, i've always the Haitanis were the type of kids that think they own the school cuz their dad is rich .

Nvm if this never becomes canon or both universes don't collide, it's just so entertaining to keep connecting the dots that were likely never there, like how Rindou is a heavy drinker cuz his father drank alot with the rest of the Yotsurugis and he tried to imitate him from a young age that it became an unhealthy habit or if you want to add more drama he only drinks cuz he looks up to his father but Shio favors Ran cuz he can posssibly succeed him (canon power complex) so Rindou resorted to drinking cuz it's the only thing like his dad that he can do. Heck yeah i made it angsty!!!

You can also add great context to his fear of Yakuza, picture this, when he was a kid he got up in the middle of night after hearing a loud noise to search for his parents and witnessed Shio (canon Yakuza) pew pew-ing some poeple and surrounded with scary men, that probably scarred him for life that he was so terrified when Kakucho got them interfering with some, OH OH something just came to mind, if he's the son of a yakuza yeah he didn't wanna clash with other yakuza families cuz it can end in a blood shed and risk his and his family's lives.

And i'm gonna add this one not very small detail and i swear i'll shut up (for now), i know it's just a stupid headcanon that is very far from becoming reality and i don't have to take it this deep but hear me out, why their last name is Haitani and not Yotsurugi like their dad, Shio is powerful and have many enemies right ? So he simply decided to protect his children and their identity by giving them another last name likely their mother's (yk like minato with naruto style plan ?) That being said, I really really hope that she planned for Alastor's mother to be mentioned at some point. This man is a confirmed mama's boy and I want to see evidence instead of just talking. I'm actually surprised that he didn't get angry when Mimzy called him 'a son of a bitch'.

I might be misremembering, but as far as I remember, Tim's mum taking him to the hospital when he was a kid is like the only time any of the main characters parents are mentioned in MH? Which like, if that is the only time any of the characters parents/family are mentioned, it just makes it feel even more tragic to me?

Like, that was presumably an upsetting/traumatic thing for Tim to go through as a kid, like even if being left there at first wasn't traumatic, everything that came after would have made it be. Like, it just makes me think that everyone else's families were "normal" or like none of them really had any reason to bring them up. Their family/home lives were perfectly mundane, so why would they think about them when they have to worry about even staying alive for another day.

It just feels like it makes Tim's whole thing with his mum even sadder, because the only reason he brings her up is to talk about something kinda unpleasant? Like, being taken to stay inpatient in a hospital for god knows how long, with no say in whether it happened or not, would be so traumatic, like abandonment, especially for a kid.

no bc i’m actually really passionate about this. what would lbh have been like/chose if he had gotten the chance to grow up with his parents (or him and the washer lady wasn’t fighting for their lives trying to survive.) like obvi we know lbh is scrappy, like heavenly demon genes + ruling the world and burning down anything in his way (bingge) and then a years long fight over a corpse (binghe). but! people are often good at things that they don’t exactly dedicate their whole life to, and it’s only like a decent interest.

like a lot of og lbhs whole thing was like blackening and bitter betrayal, and we know from the whole years long corpse fight that obvi lbh can fight, so it’s a question of necessity?? like is lbh the supreme ruler of the world because that’s what he wanted for himself or was it by necessity to survive and now that’s all he knows how to do. i feel like at least more og adjacent lbh could’ve been a very famed poet (kinda like a harem. ig.) who is known for his hedonistic approach in life. yea lbh was destined to be great for better or for worse but he was made by and came from SO much love and i think thats overlooked. he makes me sick i Love him

Ok I just need everyone to know, as a third gen Mexican-American, Leo Valdez does not speak Spanish.

He is fourth (probably more) gen and lost his mother at a young age. You think this kid speaks Spanish??? When it comes to languages, if you don’t use it you lose it (side eyes Nico’s ability to speak Italian) and Leo was tossed from foster home to foster home, most of which, if not all, likely didn’t speak Spanish. Even before that, could his mom speak Spanish? She was a third gen (if not more) like me and seemed to speak pretty good English. She probably spoke Spanish too (I hope) and used both with Leo.

So: Leo knows terms of endearment for a child. He might know how to count up to 5 or maybe 10. He definitely knows at least one swear word. He knows titles (uncle/aunt obviously, Mr/Mrs too, probably). He knows some household items and the names of other everyday things. He seems to have been able to hold onto most of his memories of his childhood before the foster homes which is why I think he knows counting and everyday things, because that’s probably what his mamá taught him. Now, this is aaalll assuming Leo’s mom knew Spanish. It’s possible she only knew the bare minimum. I like to think she knew enough to hold a conversation, if not more because of how her grandfather (Sammy) talked. But it’s also possible she knew very little Spanish.

Now, a little disclaimer: I was not taught Spanish as a child. I had to learn it in school. Do I resent that? Yes, absolutely. That’s why I say I hope Esperanza knew how to speak Spanish (Jesus Christ it took me an entire rant to remember her name) and why I like to think Leo could maybe hold an extremely simple conversation in Spanish. His grammar would probably be shit and there’s definitely a lot of Spanglish thrown in there but he could get by. Maybe. If he doesn’t have anxiety about messing up like I do. Anyways, I’m also only a quarter Mexican so maintaining the cultural stuff was a little hard - meaning, I’m culturally American. And that’s the vibe I get from Leo. He gives very strong Americanized vibes and with Americanization comes no sabo.

However! I like to think that once Leo has a stable place to call home, he starts trying to learn more Spanish. At first as a way to connect with his mom and her culture, and then just cause it’s useful.
