TGCF art from 2021 which were very experimental and very much something out of my comfort zone but am still so satisfied with
(gonna ramble more under the cut 👉 )
My main inspiration for these were definitely classic storybook illustration styles and the watercolor-like illustrations included inside the tgcf books which depict hualian's daily slice of life routines as seen below
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to capture that feeling of warmth i got from reading but i also went with the storybook look because their relationship (and by extension broad strokes of the entire plot) really did feel like something out of actual myth or legend; i'm chinese indonesian and was raised surrounded by chinese culture + values so tgcf felt VERY familiar to me, it threw me back to my childhood reading or listening to tales about chinese deities, i'd say the storybook image definitely came into my mind pretty quickly bc of this
I find this style somewhat hard to replicate now but if i could or have the time to, i really want to continue the 'companion pieces to chapter titles ' concept i did with the last 2 pieces (which are of the same chapter title but i was just indecisive 😭😭), i even had 3 more planned based on my favorite titles before burning out back then

thinking about 'what matters is you, and not the state of you' and that xie lian is the one who originally says the quote: yet, in one of the most vital moments, when xie lian is the one who needs to to see those words in action hua cheng takes what xie lian has told him, and gives back what xie lian has given him - which hua cheng always wants to do, really, to give everything to xie lian because of his love. hua cheng doesn't need to say them back: his action of repeating how he had greeted xie lian as wuming is all he needs to do to show xie lian 'what matters is you, not the state of you' in actions, not words.
what's interesting is that, xie lian says this originally - and thus does not apply it to himself. it's a testament to xie lian's feelings and trauma about his past, which he represses and does not think about. whenever an implication of him almost becoming the white clothed calamity comes up? he panics. hard. he's terrified of not even just anyone finding out, but especially hua cheng. only to find out - hua cheng has believed those words all along, even before he had heard them from xie lian. different context, sure, but hua cheng's devotion never wavered. his belief never wavered. xie lian may tell hua cheng 'what matters is you, not the state of you' - but he never even thought to think that for himself.
and hua cheng won't have that. he wants xie lian to know that he will be there - he was there at his lowest, and didn't leave. he won't leave. he never will.
it ties into xie lian's guilt and trauma about his past yet still, to others - he belives in it for everyone but himself. to be kind - to strive to keep being kind no matter what life takes to him.
now, he has hua cheng - to remind xie lian that he deserves to be kind to himself, too.

stole this chart from @asubakaa and spent wayyy too much time making my own so. yeah. also i did 6 instead of 5 bc i know no restraint
Tumblr media
#aughh i just spent ages typing out an honorable mention list and then i was like i don't like this actually so i deleted it#whatever you're not getting an explanation. unless you ask then i mean sure i don't mind#i find it funny that the straight ship canonicity ratio is lower than the lesbian one. there's just smth about het stuff when it's not cano#each tier had its own challenges with brainstorming which was fun#i don't have a lotta straight ships i think about in a frothing seething howlilng way. fakiru and tamaharu are really the biggest ones atm#gay ships are the most common for me bc i consume a lotta guy-dominated media and things get homoerotic pretty fast#but that also meant there was a lot to sift through and i always felt like i was forgetting something#like i almost forgot killugon. KILLUGON. the same killugon that i was painfully obsessed with for multiple years yes that one#formative to my life in middle school and everything. my little gay guys forever. theyre very sweet how could i forget them#and with sapphic stuff it was various issues in depiction. like 'no one ships these two from this obscureish movie but me' and 'they're boo#characters so how do i depict this visually' and 'no one knows these two the fandom's bone dry :('#there's a lotta ships i like but it was sometimes hard to find ones i LOVEd enough to put alongside the others yknow. a problem with all 3#categories. anyway a fun thing for my brain to do hooray#the most violently snubbed honorable mentions are probably griffith and guts bergerk. i wouldn't say i ship them exactly but they were in#love and should not be together in the present. as far as i've read. complicated but they're in my brain real good real deep in there#and hua cheng and xie lian tgcf. probably shoulda been there over the lawyers now that i'm thinking about it just in terms of sheer brainro#bc they took over my life about as hard as the other mxtx guys did. but yeah anyway#also i realized after this that i forgot horikashi.. which would probably take seowaka's place </3

Hello! I'm so happy I found your blog! I like your story, the way you write it! And it’s so easy for me to imagine my OC with your story, because our OCs are a little similar, only my character is something like a god/demon of death, a little more cold and his pets are snakes))
Sooooo... Sorry for taking a lot of time with my character 😅 the request for headcanons is haulian x reader and how will Xie Lian and Hua Cheng react if the reader feels like the third wheel in their trio and become a little bit distant because want to give them some space? (I have the idea in my head that the reader is basically like your OC, i like him soooooo much)
Sorry if it's not clear, English is not my native language. And if you don't like the idea, just ignore it))
Closing The Distance
Hua Cheng x M!Reader x Xie Liam
Tumblr media
I'm so happy you like my writing and I love to hear about your OC so don't worry. I'm happy our OC's are so similar 🥰🖤
I like writing stories with my headcanons soooo bare with me, bear with me???
____________________________________
You've been distant. Well you've never reached out to people before this either, but you're more distant than usual.
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng noticed immediately.
How you start declining things, how you just sit to the side, you don't talk much, You let them sleep alone, eat dinner alone.
You stop being near them. The kisses you give dwindle down to nothing and the words "I love you" have been reserved.
They haven't a clue why. Xie Lian and Hua Cheng have tried to think of every reasonable possibility but don't know why
Why would you want to be alone when it's supposed to be the three of you together?
It gets to the point where they have to visit you instead of the other way around. Paradise Manor, and Puqi shrine is all of your homes but you don't show up to either one anymore.
You're hiding away at your own place and they just don't know what to do
It really breaks Xie Lian's heart because you've been by his side all these years why do you want to leave now?
Hua Cheng is equally devastated. He would do anything for you and Xie Lian but you're pulling away.
The two can only think that maybe you just don't love them anymore, maybe you're tired of them?
You would never do that though
Xie Lian doesn't like it and neither does Hua Cheng. They intend to get to the bottom of it because they love you.
They would try to give you space but when it seems to only make it worse they don't stop bothering you
That's what it seems like you need, to be bothered.
Xie Lian keeps asking, and caring for you
Hua Cheng gets insecure. He knows he's good that Xie Lian loves him but do you? You aren't disgusted by him are you? Contrary to popular belief ghost kings get insecure too
************************************
You are pathetic, at least you feel like you are. Hiding away like a bug under a rock. You don't know when it started and you couldn't control it when it got out of hand. It's nothing against Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, you love them dearly. But the problem you have feels like a problem you can't even bring up. You don't want to hurt them.
Would you hurt them more by bringing it up or staying hidden?
So you've been... Lying here. Bed rotting. If you can even call it that. You're actually just lying under a rock. Very literally. You're hanging out in a small cave. It's nothing you aren't used to you used to do it with Xie Lian all the time.
You could've gone to the heavens and hidden up there but you don't have friends. You have Feng Xin, and Mu Qing but you know they would snitch on you if it came to Xie Lian. So here you are under a rock. Overthinking.
You always overthink, it's why you left in the first place. You also felt selfish. It's hard to see Xie Lian and Hua Cheng together. You love them both, honest! But what do they even need you for? They look perfect without you, like they were made to just have each other. You felt like you were getting in the way, or like a third wheel.
You know they love you too but... It feels so difficult to be included. When Hua Cheng first showed up he immediately was able to take Xie Lian's side and help him with missions. Which was fine you guys needed the extra help anyways but then you learned their pasts. They're just so intertwined with each other
Hua Cheng built temples for Xie Lian, released 3,000 lanterns, built statues, fought in war, challenged 33 gods, cut out his eye, and died 3 times for him, and broke his shackles! What could you possibly add to the relationship. No one could care for Xie Lian better than Hua Cheng.
Xie Lian saved Hua Cheng when he was a child, and stayed with Wu Ming. Gave him a coral pearl, and red string. What have you done?
All the heavens talk about is Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. The ghost realm is the same. You were never a prominent figure so people forget you're even there. They don't even know you're their lover too.
So yes it's hard, and maybe it's selfish that you want to feel more included when they already spoil you when anything you could ask for. Which is why you're hiding in a small, dumb cave. You eventually fall asleep to the pitter, patter of rain.
When you wake up you aren't under a rock anymore. You're in bed. In red sheets, in a red room, red, red, red. You're at paradise manor. You wouldn't mind that if you weren't actively avoiding your lovers. You sit straight up in bed and before you can tumble out Xie Lian is at your bedside. He's frowning and has this worried look in his eyes that makes you feel guilty.
"Where have you been, y/n?" You look away and shrug. "In the cave you found me in" your lips wobble a little. You don't know what to say. What excuse could you use this time? You pick at a loose piece of thread on the blanket and notice that Hua Cheng isn't in the room with you two. ". . . Where's San Lang?"
"A-Lang" Xie Lian interrupts you and his hand finds yours "You've always called him A-Lang"
You want to crinkle under his piercing gaze. "Where's A-Lang?" You whisper glancing back at the blanket.
"Standing outside the room. Baobei why have you been avoiding us?" Xie Lian turns your gaze back to him.
"I-I just was dealing with my own issues" Your hands fist in the blankets and your eyes get watery just thinking about how selfish you've been.
Xie Lian's hand caresses your cheek, "Our issues. We can help you if you tell us."
You bite your lips and bring your hand up trying to wipe your tears before they get the chance to stream down your face. "It's selfish" you spit, venom covers your tongue. "It was a pathetic reason, really. I just was overthinking and I felt like. . . A third wheel. It's not a big deal though" You glare at the blanket. Your anger of course isn't directed at them but at yourself. Xie Lian knows this too.
"A third wheel, how come?" He runs his fingers through your hair. Him and Hua Cheng have tried everything to include you so how could one feel left out?
"It's my own fault, I just don't feel like I have anything to add. I've nothing to offer. I've done nothing compared to you two" You're completely useless like always.
Xie Lian's questioning is interrupted when the door slams open. You both jump when Hua Cheng storms in and grabs a hold of your face. He would never hurt you, you all know this. "Nothing to offer? Just who are you talking about right now?" He frowns at you with furrowed brows. "I don't think we're seeing the same person." He doesn't let you divert your gaze keeping you there.
Hua Cheng knows what you're feeling, your insecurities stemming all from feeling useless. He knows how it is. "You have everything to offer and even if you didn't we would love you anyways. You don't have to add anything y/n, you can just be" he frowns and sits on the bed.
"I think you're going blind in your other eye. I really don't have anything" you blink away tears. "This one offers so much and he doesn't even know, he's done so much for the two of us and doesn't remember. Right gege?" Hua Cheng looks at his other husband for approval and Xie Lian nods.
"This one is a heavenly official. You have to work hard to become a god in the upper court" Xie Lian adds. You scoff though. "That's not what I'm talking about, I-I haven't done anything for the two of you"
Hua Cheng wants to shake you in a jar. "You have though!" Now he's yelling and Hua Cheng doesn't yell only when it comes to the two of you. "Who's rayed by Xie Lian all these years protecting him when I was lost? You did! Who took care of Hong er when Gege's other servants wouldn't dare touch him? You did. Who gave a mongrel child their family heirloom because he had sympathy and was kind? You did!" Hua Cheng holds your face in his hands still.
"You work so hard, and have gone through so much just like the rest of us and yet you still worry about others still!"
"every night this one takes care of us and helps Gege make dinner. Every day this one protects us, every day this one thinks of us and gives his best for us!"
Hua Cheng gives endless reasons small to large. You're crying in his hands and Hua Cheng wipes them away for you.
"No one is allowed to insult my lovers, even if they're doing it themselves" Hua Cheng finishes and kisses your forehead. Xie Lian is smiling and he kisses your forehead too.
"Don't run from us anymore, you can tell us what you're thinking anytime. Me and San Lang have no problem giving you the reassurance you need" he hums and joins you two in bed. All three of you cuddle for the rest of the night and the two practically suffocate you, not allowing you to leave bed. But you love them and would gladly lie here tangled in their limbs.

Alright not to like liveblog my breakdown on main but yesterday was a really bad day after a really bad, like, 4 months, and I've hit a bit of a breaking point and one of the only things in my life that can give is running @mdzsartreblogs , @tgcfartreblogs , @svsssartreblogs , @erhaartreblogs , @tykartreblogs , and @cnovelartreblogs , so that is what has to give. It's been a 99-out-of-100 days thankless job. A small number of people do say thank you and yall I appreciate you so much (HUGE shout-out to the artist I met at Flamecon who gifted me a zine when I said I ran these blogs, @bonesblubs you rock) but I have never done an act of fandom labor simultaneously this labor intensive yet this invisible before and, uh. It sucks. I spend an hour or more a day on this every day, if it's under 2k hours since I started the first of these in September 2020 I'd be shocked. And I do it because I love it but doing it means I don't have time or energy to do other things I love. And I really don't want to just quit, but I can't keep this up.
In a last-ditch effort to try not to just give up, I'm making the following changes:
1. Only watching one tag per fandom for the MXTX fandoms. I am going to check *only* #tgcf, #svsss, and #mdzs. Artwork posted to any other tag, I will not see unless a mutual reblogs it.
2. Reduced tagging (even more). I'm only going to tag characters and maybe overarching au type (eg, "modern au," "fantasy au"). I'll no longer tag creatures. I will continue to tag the same common trigger warnings I already tag.
3. If a work's appearance doesn't make it obvious what it is AND the tags aren't clear, I'm not going to reblog. I can't keep spending 5 minutes or more trying to figure out what I'm even looking at, scared that if I guess wrong the artist will get mad at me for mistagging their work. If I do reblog, I'll tag only the artist name and/or whatever else I can identify for sure.
4. I am no longer going to follow #link click. The fandom is just too big. I've started dreading checking it. If I was more into it and less busy I would make another spin off just for it but neither of those is true. (The art is so good, I hate to do this, but. If you love link click, highly recommend the main tag, lots of great stuff there.)
5. I will no longer tag any non-cnovel content in the art/post. Like, if someone draws, idek, Xie Lian and Marinette from Ladybug, I'm not gonna put any tags for Marinette, just for Xie Lian.
6. Basically if I run into something hard to tag or confusing or unclear, my new policy is I'm not gonna fricken bother.
I think those are everything but idefk, I cried for 3 hours last night and got 4 hours of sleep so I'm mostly fueled by exhaustion and desperation right now and my memory is even more fried than usual.
How artists can help. This is obviously all optional. You do you. But since some people might want to know what would make my life easier, I'm sharing. I'm not claiming I feel entitled to dictate how people fandom or anything like that.
1. Put the tags for the character(s) and ship(s) early in the tag list.
2. If you make art for a fandom that isn't one of the big ones (right now the only big danmei fandoms on tumblr as far as I can tell are the MXTX fandoms and maybe 2ha) I am begging you to use my tracked tag #cnovelartreblogs
3. Do mdzs art? Tag #mdzs. Do tgcf art? Tag #tgcf. Do svsss art? Tag #svsss.
4. Not only artists, but everyone, *please* stop tagging fandoms not discussed and/or depicted in your post. It's gotten to be stupid common for people to blanket the danmei fandom tags with posts only about one fandon (like, svsss-only works also being tagged mdzs and tgcf and 2ha for some damn reason). This isn't about just my sideblogs tbh this is just fandom etiquette that seems to have been forgotten or never learned by many. Tagging unrelated fandoms isn't "reach," it's annoying. People go into the #mdzs tag to see mdzs, not whatever not-mdzs stuff people have decided to tag for ~reach~, and seeing the same post in 8 tags, none of which it's related to, is so damn irritating, and makes scrolling the tags looking for content that IS relevant take that much longer. Knock it off.
Okay. I think that's as much as I'm prepared to meltdown where everyone can see. Thanks in advance everyone for your understanding, and apologies to everyone about to see this 8 times as I reblog it to each sideblog.
At least I'm not tagging it to everywhere. 🤣🤣🤣

As much as I enjoy "[Character] did nothing wrong" jokes, I really do enjoy the fact that the MXTX main characters and their love interests very much did some wrong things, actually. Like, yeah, some of their horrific crimes or even just mild wrongdoings are down to impossible circumstances and personal damage that was caused by someone else, but they all have agency and guilt and have to deal with the sort of interpersonal conflicts where no one is the winner. It is so, SO humanizing to have them be imperfect and rude and petty and selfish sometimes! They have hurt people unintentionally and intentionally! It makes their good qualities and efforts to improve shine all the brighter!
And also, I really love it as an aspect of queer romances specifically. If Wei Wuxian or Shen Qingqiu or Xie Lian had never done anything wrong in their lives, then the fact that they fall in love with men might carry an unintentional "look at these poor, innocent gay people who are being mistreated for no reason" message, which could carry the unintentional suggestion that queerness can be "earned" with good behavior. No, these characters have fucked up and have fucked up BADLY. There are such fascinating themes in these books about loving people who are seen as monsters or have done monstrous things, about having done unforgivable things yourself, about questioning what exactly is "sinful" and what you do with your life after your good reputation in "good society" has been utterly ruined.
This also brings up themes about "deserving". None of the characters are loved because they necessarily "deserve" to be loved, but because someone chose to love them. They get happy endings not because they "deserve" them - lots of characters in these stories "deserved" better and died anyway - but because they fought for them and were lucky. And I personally find that more interesting and touching than "[Character] did nothing wrong".
Keep the "[Character] did nothing wrong" jokes coming, though. They're often very funny. I especially love it when they're about characters who very obviously did many things wrong on purpose and aren't sorry about it in the slightest.

So canonically Hua Cheng has silver butterflies. It's one of the first things we learn about him. However, I like to imagine that they are actually moths. Some moths, like the Chinese Moon Moths, are really pretty. When I was younger I thought a lot of moths were butterflies because in my head moths were ugly and butterflies were pretty. Now I know that you can tell if it's a butterfly or moth based on the antenna. I feel like, with the exception of Xie Lian, no one was able to get close enough to them to tell. Them being butterflies has a lot of symbolism with the metamorphosis they go through and them being pollinators (seeking flowers) that matches Hua Cheng, but I think moths would work too. Moths also go through metamorphosis and pollinate. Plus, they are generally nocturnal so they do their pollinating at night. This means, unlike butterflies, their good work is generally not noticed and they are seen as pests. Just like how everyone thinks Hua Cheng is going to hurt Xie Lian, but really he is really helpful (specifically to Xie Lian but still). As I kind of implied earlier, moths are also seen as uglier and dirtier than butterflies, even though they aren't. This matches with Hong'er being told he was ugly as a child. Finally, Xie Lian is kind of the god of unwanted things (the trash collecting god), and moths aren't wanted as much as butterflies. It matches with Xie Lian seeing value in Hua Cheng (and even Hong'er) that others didn't. I don't think the butterflies were ever meant to be seen as moths, but is a fun thought.

saw some ppl on tiktok getting SO PRESSED about polycules and relationships other than hualian and that was kind of funny so i needed to make and explain my relationship chart
i’d love to explain to them (as a polyam person myself >:3) that love is not a limited commodity and hua cheng falling for yin yu doesn’t mean he suddenly doesn’t care about xie lian at all but i fear that would be lost on them HAHA
also if you… don’t wanna see that kinda stuff… just don’t look at it… don’t hate on people who do… life would be easier for everyone… but moving on
i debated splitting yin yu x he xuan x hua cheng from the moon quartet then decided against it because it was getting waaaay too chaotic
rip to quan yizhen, either he has no manhua art or i couldn’t find it (i haven’t read the manhua yet ffjhshd)
uhhh i got a lot of inspo abt huayin from @devotedbutterfly’s tiktoks and stuff (sorry for going thru like all of ur stuff and generally being a demon on ur tiktok and tumblr ahsjdj) and xuanyin/blackmoon stuff from @ghooostbaby so. yes their stuff is very cool :]
anyways-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
first chart is different explanations for everyone’s relationship with one another
the second is me trying to simplify them into categories
BUT i’ll explain this a lotttt better in text
quanyin
uh. this one feels self explanatory
hualian
if i have to explain this one it’s over
fengqing
same as the first two LMAO
xianle trio
yes, i had to break the trio and quartet into different categories
mulian: mu qing always admired xie lian for his self-assuredness, strength, and also beauty. he was a bit jealous of him for a long time, but they were able to talk about it and they both forgave each other for everything that happened in the past. he's had a crush on him since the beginning, but was bad at showing it. xie lian thought mu qing was pretty and a very interesting person; when he got older, he regretted not spending more time getting to know him, so he makes up for it later on in life! he loves when mu qing is softer and shy and more vulnerable than he is usually, and loves how mu qing is a good listener and is pretty emotionally intelligent.
fengqing: well. you get the idea
fenglian: feng xin was always loyal, the first person to have fallen in love with xie lian, and dianxia’s first kiss. he would’ve never left xie lian if xie lian hadn’t told him to. he respected xie lian a lot. xie lian loved how much feng xin cared, and felt immensely guilty about being unable to give him anything more. when they reunite, he showers feng xin with gifts and words of affirmation (he got better at expressing his emotions) and they spend a lot of time together
xianle quartet
all the other ones stay the same, so i’ll just explain the two new ones
huaqing: they were once stuck together and had to talk just out of boredom. they bickered a little but the more they talked the more they realized that there was more to the other. mu qing feels genuinely bad about what he did to hua cheng. he has a hard time apologizing but he tried his best to express his remorse, and hua cheng was pretty shocked (previously thought mu qing was a bit of an asshole) and, since mu qing was being sincere, decided to accept his apology. they hit some rough patches now and then, but xie lian and feng xin help them through it. they realized they’re pretty similar, and team up to stir up trouble with people they don’t like sometimes!
huaxin: feng xin was jealous of hua cheng because he was the one who won xie lian’s heart after 800 years and was really happy when he found out that xie lian liked him too. he admires that hua cheng was strong enough to help xie lian so many times. he also likes that hua cheng is a little cocky sometimes (read: very often), and finds hua cheng very good looking. hua cheng was jealous of feng xin for being the first person to be that close to xie lian, but appreciates how loyal he was throughout everything that happened and finds him pretty cool. he likes the way feng xin curses a lot when he’s pissed (finds it endearing)
huayin
ONE OF MY PERSONAL FAVES!!!
yin yu fell first, because hua cheng was so fascinatingly determined and also like the prettiest person he’s ever met. he was intimidating, but could be quite kind, as he was to yin yu when they broke past the employee/employer relationship and became closer
hua cheng began to notice the way yin yu came off as so meek and unnoticeable, but had a kind of poised anger and strength beneath all of that. he trusted yin yu with a lot of more important tasks, paid him well, and considered him as more of a right hand man or partner in crime than a henchman, then eventually as just a partner
e’ming also likes yin yu, and trusts him to take care of it
hua cheng finds it endearing when yin yu gets protective of him (both of them know hua cheng is perfectly capable, but hua cheng finds it sweet regardless)
yin yu cheered hua cheng on a lot with xie lian and patiently listened to everything hua cheng had to say about him
huayinlian/hualianyu
ANOTHER PERSONAL FAVE
ppl keep being like “oh but hua cheng would never cheat on xie lian” HOW IS THAT CHEATING! GOOD LORD! HUA CHENG STILL LOVES XIE LIAN, BUT HAS ALSO DEVELOPED FEELINGS FOR THE PERSON HE SPENT THE MOST AMOUNT OF TIME WITH
i digress
yin yu fell for xie lian because he heard about him all the time. how could you spend so much time hearing about how wonderful, kind, gracious, and amazing someone is without catching feelings a little? additionally, hua cheng allowed yin yu to visit xie lian’s temple and leave offerings, trusting him to be genuine in his actions. yin yu saw some of the paintings and sculptures of xie lian and found him beautiful. he knows a lot about xie lian's life, and truly wants him to find peace and happiness
xie lian loves how devoted yin yu was to hua cheng and how much he helped him. he knows those years were hard for hua cheng, and he’s glad that he had a companion (contrary to what people say about “cheating”, xie lian is incredibly happy that hua cheng managed to find love while he was waiting). i know yin yu is canonically “plain”, but xie lian loves him and thinks he’s very handsome :) he gives him a lot of compliments and words of affirmation
blackmoon (yinxuan)
taking a moment to appreciate that very awesome ship name
yin yu thought he xuan was terrifying and intense, only to discover that. he’s just a guy (/pos). but he does have a lot going on! he has urges and a complex history and emotions he doesn’t show to a lot of people and plans within plans and is generally such an interesting person with so many layers to him. beneath a lot of those layers is a guy who’s kind and smart and would’ve stayed kind and smart if his life wasn’t utterly ruined
he xuan initially thought yin yu was just kind of pathetic, but learned more about him and started to like him more. he finds his passion really attractive, loves how genuinely sweet, kind, and gentle he is as well as how harsh, cruel, and unrelenting he can be. he treats he xuan well and makes him feel human and real and knows when to leave him alone and knows when he wants attention and cooks for him and-
they feel seen around each other, having experienced similar things (such as having their destiny “stolen” in different ways though) and have experienced suffering in such a firsthand way. they’re ready to just chill together now :)
moon quartet (hua cheng, xie lian, he xuan, and yin yu)
xie lian finds he xuan cool, doesn’t have too many thoughts about him. he xuan thinks xie lian is cute and also mildly terrifying (i’m definitely editing this later on, i just don’t have a lot of thoughts about them yet)
hua cheng and he xuan have been close for a long time, helping each other out with ghost king business. hua cheng let he xuan relax and chill at ghost city when he needed to, and he xuan kept a close eye on the heavenly capital, so they met often and bonded. they’re both motivated by something and are incredibly passionate about that thing, so they mutually admire the other’s drive and courage
i have the least for them so far, but i just think they’d be sweet together :] they’d all help each other heal and be able to talk to each other. they’d love each other a lot and take care of one another when they need it and be there when someone needs someone :3 idk they’re so traumatized and deserve to recover from that i’ll form more thoughts i swear
ANYWAYS. that’s it for now i’m def gonna write stuff for all of these ships :0 they’re all very special to me 💖 i might add them to my 30 day fluff challenge :3 cuz they all deserve some nice fluff! (ill also keep updating + editing! feel free to ask me to explain relationships more, id love to <3)

The way it has JUST dawned on me exactly why Mu Qing is so smug all the time about Xie Lian. The truth is that any time someone does something good for others, it ALWAYS comes back to bite them. Nobody is grateful, nobody is thankful, and most of the time you get physically hurt even trying. Mu Qing’s conclusion about this is “there is literally no point in being a nice person because it will only get you hurt.” He sees this pattern and he knows he’s right, and he especially sees it with Xie Lian. Think about how fucking smug Fu Yao is in the sinners pit when he finds out about “General Hua” and Xie Lian’s “death.” This is just another instance of Xie Lian’s efforts for good only ever going to waste and him getting beat to death and back for thinking he can still save the common people. What’s his problem? Won’t this idiot ever learn his lesson? When he sees the dilapidated shrine and sad excuse for a living arrangement Mu Qing looks joyous. What joy could he possibly find in another man’s suffering? It’s because it proves that trying to play good guy gets you nowhere. Mu Qing left all those years ago to focus on himself and it got him to a top martial god spot in heaven. He’s clearly right about this! This proves it!
It’s so obvious he’s right. If you want to get anywhere in life, you have to stop worrying about being “good or “kind” because it will never bring you good returns. That’s true….so why can’t Xie Lian understand that? If every single time he gets kicked down for trying to do something nice, why bother getting up and trying again? What is he trying to accomplish?
The difference is that Xie Lian is kind not for the returns but because it is innate to him. It’s not that he never thought about himself in the past, it’s just that he’s never had a second thought about people deserving kindness in the world. Getting shot down never breaks his spirit like it breaks Mu Qing’s. Mu Qing can’t fucking stand that. He can’t stand that Xie Lian is so genuinely selfless, that he was wrong about his perception of him all those years ago. He can’t stand that Xie Lian is still trying to help him even though he knows he won’t appreciate it. If he really was only doing it for merit and to feel good about himself then everything would be fine! But now he has to grapple with the fact that he’s looking at a really, genuinely, good person and he’s just another person who shot him down. He realizes he’s looking at someone who’s stronger than him, physically and emotionally, better than him morally, despite all his talk about how they’re not that different when really they’re leagues away.
(Some book 8 spoilers below)
It messed with the flow of the paragraph so I didn’t mention it earlier, but in that second paragraph, Mu Qing’s mindset sounds a lot like Jun Wu. Jun Wu is trying to prove to Xie Lian that his path of kindness and selflessness is stupid and that when people knock him down he can choose the other (lesser) path. I always say That Mu Qing is like a foil to Xie Lian (I think this is that explanation) but if Jun Wu and Xie Lian are connected in this way then it’s almost reasonable to bring Mu Qing along too. And it makes sense that he doesn’t shine as bright in this point of view between the three of them, just like he always has. There’s something here but it was a wake up in the middle of the night with a cold sweat and a revelation kind of thing so it’s not really fleshed out at all. We’ll deal with it later.

Would you do a Mu Qing from TCGF fluff request Xie Lian (and by extension San Lang) attempt to play matchmaker between Mu Qing and his god/dess crush (cause Mu Qing refuses to admit liking them despite them being the person he’s closest to since meeting each other)?

Kiss of Winter
To the untrained eye you would seem like a subordinate or nuisance to the cold-hearted god; however, this couldn't be further from the truth. You would considered yourself a close friend to Mu Qing, you have known each other for hundreds of years after all.
Though when asked, Mu Qing would refer to you as "a valuable acquaintance," and boy did it hurt to say this. Luckily, there was a very observant god who decided he had watched you two dance around each other long enough.
The holidays were approaching and Xie Lian thought this would be a great time to force persuade both of you to be in each other's company more often. So, with some hard thought planning and input from San Lang, the boys decided on a special celebration for the gods.
Now considering all these higher beings actually have standards, lots of works will have to be put into this. And who better to ask than someone that'll be excited to attend?
"I can't think of anyone more fitting for this job than you," Xie Lian praised, hoping to get you on the project. Everything has to be perfect if he's gonna get you and Mu Qing together.
You hesitated for a moment, "I've been getting many more prayers recently, though I suppose those can be put on hold..." There was a look of pondering on your face, weighing the pros and cons of what this could do to your status among deities and humans.
"Don't you have subordinates? If anything important happens they'll surely yap to you about it," you tensed at San Lang's words. Subordinates yes, deserving of disrespect no.
Unfortunately though, you must admit he was right. Your subordinates were always more alert than you, even when it came to your own temples. You sighed, "fine, I will help you prepare for this celebration."
After tireless days? Weeks? Of work, you all finally finished the super secret super awesome holiday party. Now you may be wondering would Mu Qing even come to the celebration? The answer is yes, but only if you invite him.
And let's be honest, most of the Heaven Official's don't like Xie Lian and San Lang very much, so making you the messenger was common sense from the beginning. So after running around and inviting everyone you saw, it finally came to the one and only.
"It is a holiday that comes each year, what makes this one special?" So far, so bad, he doesn't seem very keen on attending your greatest achievement yet.
"Becauseee we put effort into enjoying it this year. It'll be fun, I promise!" You pleaded with Mu Qing, hoping he'd say yes. "I worked on it the most anyways, so you don't have to worry about Xie Lian's 'bad taste.'"
He crossed his arms, contemplating if that was really a good enough reason to attend. "And when did I say you have good taste? It is likely just as bad considering you dare interact with him." OW OKAY THEN.
You folded your hands and begged, "if it's not I swear to never invite you again! Just please come this once..." This is what convinced him, the pain that in the future deities will get to enjoy your hard-work and he'll be left out. No one could ever appreciate your efforts like he can.
"Fine! I will agree this once..." That was a lie, he will make sure to agree in the future, even if it means forcing himself to attend a celebration that involved Xie Lian and San Lang.
The day of the celebration was fantastic, several deities appeared, many complimenting you on your efforts. You most oversaw everything that was happening, what you didn't see; however, was Xie Lian spying on you and Mu Qing while talking.
He took this as his chance to put the real plan into action. After getting a signal from San Lang that the mistletoe was hanging up a few feet from you two, Xie Lian basically sprinted into the both of you, pushing you under the plant.
Mu Qing turned around, visibly angry at Xie Lian, "would it hurt to watch where you move?!" This caused Xie Lian to put his hands up in defeat and shuffle away.
While rubbing your head to try and soothe the pain, you noticed something bright above you. Realizing it was mistletoe your face got darker. This caused Mu Qing to seem slightly concerned, questioning what was the problem. You only pointed up, and when he took notice his face also darkened.
"We can simply move and ignore this tradition, it's not that important anyways-" He was interrupted by you however, "rules are rules, Mu Qing, we can't ignore them. Plus, I kinda like this tradition."
He tried to get over the initial embarrassment and decided it would be easier to dive into the kiss. What would've been a fleeting moment to others felt like an eternity to you both.
Pulling away you could both tell by the look in each other's eyes that the feeling was mutual. And hidden somewhere else was a very proud and excited Xie Lian.

this was a very beefy fic
not that i'm complaining i liked it
anyways, happy holidays everyone! may all be well for the new year

the scene with fx mq and xl on the heavenly crossing bridge really is such an amazing fight scene, it's got to be my favourite scene in the entire book.
I feel like before that scene, I never really understood why the xianle trio stuck together. or rather, I guess I did intellectually, but that scene really exemplifies the connection they have despite all the bad blood between them.
like, the way they're so completely in sync with each other during the fight, they hardly need to verbally communicate what they intend to do next. like yes there's a lot of dialogue, but most of the dialogue is them like... honestly chatting and joking around together? like you can see that they're familiar with each other in a way no one else is, not even hua cheng with xie lian.
like, hua cheng and xie lian work well together because they trust each other fully and are both very good fighters and can read each others moves, but the xianle trio works well together because they've fought together so many times before that they don't need words to understand what they're doing.

Some more on my Nan Feng and Fu Yao were actually fengqing's kids all along au (first part here):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@happypeachsludgeflower @sleepyburito yes!! You get it!
When Xie Lian finally learns who they are, he turns to fengqing apologetically and says seriously, “Feng Xin, Mu Qing, I’m so sorry. I thought they were you. If I’d known they were just kids I would have focused on protecting them and making sure they were safe more.”
Nan Feng and Fu Yao are in the background, outraged and offended that Xie Lian thinks they need to be protected by him. It does not matter how old these two are, Xie Lian will forever see them as kids to be protected. Fengqing are actually kinda touched bc 1) XL thought the kids were them and therefore not in need of protecting, trusting their skills. And 2) Xie Lian likes their kids and wants them safe, feeling protective of them.
Post-canon, Xie Lian kinda becomes Nan Feng and Fu Yao’s kooky grandpa who has weird and slightly horrifying stories that no one really wants to listen to. When getting ready for visits to Xie Lian, there’s a lot of “do we have to?” by the kids and Mu Qing replying with a clipped “yes.” They argue the entire way down to the mortal realm or wherever they’re meeting until they immediately shut up when they spot Xie Lian. This family cannot communicate normally. All their conversations are arguing.
Also, fengqing sent the kids down independently. Neither knew the other was doing it, nor decided to inform the other. They only found out about it when the kids got back from the mission, at which point fengqing went to each other like "you sent Nan Feng/Fu Yao to help His Highness? What, do you not trust His Highness' capabilities or something!?" and the other is all "Bitch, you did the same thing!" They then fight about it. Of course.
And, because of this little non communication, Nan Feng and Fu Yao didn't know the other would be there too. The reason this matters is because the two of them end up being sent on a lot of missions together (they were trained together in their youth and fengqing knew they would have each other's backs in dangerous situations and that they knew each other's moves as well as their own), and were getting sick of it, so when their dad told them to do this, they did so with the impression that the other wouldn't be there. This is why Nan Feng and Fu Yao keep telling Xie Lian to send the other away. They do not want to do another mission with their stupid twin. (They still always drag each other into trouble together. They're ride or die, but will complain the entire time. just like their parents)
As I was thinking about fengqing's relationship and their kids in regards to the other Heavenly Officials, this is what I got: Not a lot of Heaven actually knows about it.
Feng Xin and Mu Qing are known to always be fighting and arguing, so if they hear rumors that the two are together, they laugh it off and go "yeah, right" with a roll of their eyes. It's simply unbelievable. There are also a lot of Middle Court Officials, and the gods can't be concerned to remember every single one of them. And Junior Officials also switch which palace they work for sometimes, so Fu Yao and Nan Feng switching between the Palace of Nan Yang and the Palace of Xuan Zhen isn't that odd especially since fengqing fight so much, they might also fight over Junior Officials. The most that line of questioning goes is "Wait, I thought you were with the Palace of Xuan Zhen?" "No, I'm with the Palace of Nan Yang." or vice versa. Of course fengqing's Junior Officials know the truth, but the two Palaces will always have a friendly rivalry with each other. If that "friendly rivalry" looks like death matches, that's not their problem, that's just how their palaces do it with each other. Like an extended family that is very competitive and ends up with everyone in the hospital at the end of the family reunion.
Of those in Heaven that do know that Nan Feng and Fu Yao really are fengqing's kids, most don't know that fengqing are still together. They know that at some point in the past fengqing were together and had two kids, but think they're now a divorced couple in a nasty fight over custody. After all, Nan Feng and Fu Yao both have rooms in both the Palace of Nan Yang and the Palace of Xuan Zhen and are being constantly passed between the two palaces in cycles and Mu Qing and Feng Xin are always fighting. Looking at it in that regard, it makes perfect sense to them. Of course the two generals have such a nasty relationship and can't get along for the life of them, they're exes!
Those that know the whole truth, that Nan Feng and Yu Yao are fengqing's kids and that fengqing are still very much together and in love, are very few. Ling Wen knows simply because she knows everything and she also had to go through the paperwork of the constantly changing palaces of the kids. Eventually they work out a system for them so that they don't have to file official reports of switching palaces all the time. (She would have killed them if they didn't (they knew this and so were quick to figure out a solution)) Pei Ming also knows. He's laughing about. He doesn't really understand how their relationship works and how they haven't killed each other yet, but is like "🤷‍♂️ whatever works for them." Shi Wudu knows because of the Three Tumors, but honestly doesn't care and spares it no thought. I think Shi Qingxuan would also know. He would also think it's common knowledge and therefore not gossip worthy or worth a mention. I also think he would get along with the twins.

@here4hualian kissmas day 15: unexpected kiss
He Xuan definitely wasn’t worried about Crimson Rain or his pet prince. He felt the burst of energy Hua Cheng let out to protect them when the ship went down, he himself made sure everyone was pushed onto the shore of the island (because what was the point of a big long revenge scheme if the people you wanted to get revenge on drowned before they made it there), and if that wasn’t enough, Hua Cheng had been cursing him out nonstop in their communication array since the whole thing began!
So, it was merely a dislike of having Crimson Rain anywhere near his lair that had He Xuan focusing a sliver of his attention on the beach where he and Xie Lian washed up. That’s it.
“You look like a drowned rat,” He Xuan informed him.
“And who’s fault is that you fish-breath fish-brained piece of shit? I hope you choke, you-” Hua Cheng continued to rant but He Xuan tuned him out in favor of watching as Xie Lian stirred. He took stock of the situation, coughed a bit of seawater out of his lungs, and then noticed Hua Cheng and ran over to him. Hua Cheng kept ranting as Xie Lian checked him over, clearly not paying enough attention to his body to realize he was being fussed over by his god.
Then, Xie Lian took a deep breath and pressed his lips to Hua Cheng’s. The sight was so startling He Xuan couldn’t help but blurt out, “Is he kissing you?”
Hua Cheng’s eye flew open, cutting himself off mid insult.
“I thought you two weren’t like that,” He Xuan commented, fascinated at how this was going down.
“We’re not…” It was the most confused He Xuan had ever heard Crimson Rain. The kiss continued.
“...Are you sure you’re not? Because he really looks like he’s getting into it.”
“Shut the fuck up Black Water, you’re ruining it-”
It was at that point Xie Lian pulled back and noticed Hua Cheng staring up at him, wide-eyed.
“San Lang!”
“Gege…” He Xuan made a gagging noise at the pet names. Hua Cheng ignored him. “Wh- what were you doing?”
“It’s not what you think!” Xie Lian leapt to his feet and backed down the beach.
“Ouch,” He Xuan commented.
“Shut up.”
“I’m sorry, San Lang, I was just trying… I mean, I was worried with the water… I thought San Lang might not be able to breathe…” Xie Lian stammered.
He Xuan was incredulous. “He knows you’re a ghost, right?”
“It’s alright, your highness,” Hua Cheng tried, but Xie Lian kept backing down the beach, incredibly flustered.
“I’m sorry!”
“Your highness, please, calm down!”
But Xie Lian took off running across the beach towards the shelter of the trees to hide his embarrassment.
“That went well,” He Xuan said dryly.
“Shut up!” Hua Cheng scrambled to his feet, stumbling after Xie Lian. “Your highness!”
“Crimson Rain Chased Flower Through Sand has a nice ring to it…”
“Black Water I swear to god-”
“The god that’s currently running away from you? Here’s a thought: why not just tell him you really don’t mind, actually you liked it a lot and want to do it again-”
“I’m tripling your debt.” Hua Cheng made it to the tree line just in time to see a bone spur from one of the creatures that inhabited the island launch itself at Xie Lian. “Quadrupling.”
“Alright, alright, I’ll leave you two alone. Just one more thing… if the soul and the ashes of a ghost enter a box together, wouldn’t that qualify as a coffin?”
“That…”
He Xuan barely kept the grin off his face, aware that his physical body was still with the Shi brothers even though he’d been tuning out most of the frantic discussion/argument between them. “Don’t say I never did anything for you Hua Cheng.” He disconnected from the array and returned his attention to his surroundings.

was recently talking to a friend about qi rong which then lead to me going on a reread of my favorite qi rong fic EVER, and now I’m in my feels about him, his relationship with his family, and his relationship with xie lian and guzi.
I just love qi rong a lot. to be clear, he’s a horrible little gremlin and that is a lot of WHY I love him - but I also think that fundamentally qi rong is a character who is super traumatized but does not receive sympathy for that trauma because he is not traumatized in a “palatable” way which is a trend that starts when he is young and just never ends, canonically, at any point in his life
right from the bat: the first 5 years of his life, he's being physically and emotionally abused, he's cast out to live in a shed, his mom is forgotten by her family. by the time she finally escapes his abusive father and goes back to the palace, her elopement with him has been swept under the rug and most people don't actually know what happened - and are then weirded out by her and qi rong, causing all the children and even most adults around qi rong to basically refuse to interact with him. so he's abused and hated, then isolated to the point where nobody talks to him, nobody plays with him. the one time he thinks he succeeded at attempting to make some friends, it turns out that they tricked him into writing a death wish for himself and his mother on his lantern.
and all the while, he's watching xie lian and the adulation he receives, not understanding why xie lian gets those things and he does not. everyone always says he looks like xie lian. he’s even called xiao jing, like he’s a mirror of the crown prince. what’s the difference?
and then xie lian himself is the only person aside from his own mother to be genuinely kind to qi rong. qi rong is desperately lonely, envious and fixated on the cousin that nobody will stop comparing him to, and then said cousin is the only person to reach out to him with kindness. of course he wants to attach himself to xie lian and emulate him.
unfortunately for both of them, then his mother dies - not just randomly, but specifically in defense of xie lian’s mother, and having extracted a promise for xie lian’s parents to care for qi rong. however, things don’t actually change at that point. sure, they take him in and buy him whatever he wants, but as far as love and care are concerned, xie lian is really the only potential source of those things left for qi rong. xie lian is also a teenager with a lot of pressure on his shoulders and a lack of understanding of difficult situations. of course he doesn’t know how to raise his traumatized, misbehaving cousin! and nobody else bothers to. it’s deeply unfair for xie lian to be used as the singular tool to discipline and direct qi rong, and that directly contributes to their extremely soured relationship.
now that qi rong’s mother is dead, there is nobody left around that actually wants him or is willing to put effort into properly raising him. when a kid turns out as wild as qi rong - that's not just random happenstance, that happens because they weren't parented right (or at all). he acts out in increasingly insane ways for the attention everyone hates to give him - anyone's, but especially xie lian's, which sucks for xie lian because it should have been his parents providing qi rong with an authority figure and source of love, not xie lian's teenage self. and people respond by waving him off, giving him whatever he wants just to make him go away, and ignoring him, because he has a deeply off-putting personality.
and it causes everyone around qi rong to resent him in this vicious cycle that escalates his behavior because he doesn't know what else to do - until eventually even xie lian, the one person that he really looked up to, hates him too.
obviously qi rong is an awful person by the point we reach in canon, but I also think that if he had received regular hugs as a child and maybe some actual parenting from someone who didn’t beat him, instead of just being given a bunch of money and being told to fuck off
specifically because he was weird and traumatized and unlikeable
things would have turned out very different for him. because he very clearly tries - that’s one thing that’s very clear in the flashbacks and even continues to modern canon: qi rong really tries to get love and attention, and when that doesn’t work, he just escalates to “any attention, bad attention, attention that proves I’m worth something, proves wrong all the people saying the supposedly-amazing cousin that took away my only source of kindness when he started hating me, is so much better than me”. he starts out an awkward, off-putting kid and ends up the night-touring green lantern. of course he holds enough resentment to end up a calamity. his cannibalism shtick doesn’t even read as genuine to me, it just seems like he picked out “what’s the worst, most attention-grabbing thing I can possibly be to pre-emptively justify everyone’s disgust in me” and landed on that.
(see also: I think it’s hysterical that he has very strong opinions and abilities as pertains to gourmet cooking, and then just uses them to lure in victims so that he can have his meal of Raw Unseasoned Human Flesh. you can’t tell me he’s doing it for anything other than the bit at this point.)
and that’s also why I think his weirdly wholesome relationship with guzi also makes a lot of sense. qi rong is a shockingly decent father to him (eventually), probably in part because he overidentifies with guzi also being abused by his father, but also, because guzi is literally just a kid and therefore is not someone that yet has the capacity to have all these preconceptions about qi rong, nor for qi rong to read into his words and be insulted, because. that's just a kid. there’s nothing to read into.
I think his treatment of guzi (eventually) shows that he's capable of being at least kind of decent (or at least functional), he's just never been in a circumstance where his trauma and relationships let it happen. his material life was always supplied for, but his emotional and familial environment in xianle was invariably toxic for him.
anyway, I think qi rong needs a shower and a hug, in that order, and then to be forced to learn to interact with people who don't immediately assume the worst of him. thanks for coming to my TED talk, I know it was long as hell.

Hi!!!! :3 Can i request a Hualian x reader who has an arranged marriage?? The reader is forced by their family to marry a person who they do not know, and the reader felt bad to disagree with this decision, so they agreed, but then Hua Cheng and Xie Lian find out that their lover is being married off to someone else so they decided to crash the wedding day, and took reader away from the altar. Hua Cheng and Xie Lian couldn't help but feel jealous that someone almost took them away, so they spent the whole night making love and the reader repeating to their lovers that they're the only ones and reader wouldn't leave them for anybody else.
I hope it makes sense, english is not my first language, and it's like 3am so I'm not thinking 😭😭😭😭

____________________________________
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng already knew you had a complicated love life going on.
You have a secret relationship with them and you unfortunately have a real fiance who you do not like at all.
At first Xie Lian and Hua Cheng were fine with this
Aka Xie Lian was very understanding and Hua Cheng pouted a lot.
But then it started getting iffy
Not because of you but because of your family and your fiance
Like what do you mean your family is forcing you to marry someone you don't like?
What do you mean they wouldn't be okay with you dating them instead 🤨
What do you mean your fiance is actually rude as hell🤨
San Lang has no problem with fixing that problem by putting your fiance in the dirt but Xie Lian talks him out of it.
It goes on like this for a while.
You dating Xie Lian and Hua Cheng in secret
You have a fiance in public. Your fiance wasn't really pushing for a marriage either so it was supposed to be fine!
But then your parents really, really wanted you to have the wedding. Soon. Like now.
You cried a lot at this, you didn't want to leave Xie Lian and Hua Cheng
But you didn't want to break up with them either so you avoided them.
It's been weeks since you've talked to them.
now you stand at the alter in red.
You wish it was Xie Lian and San Lang standing in front of you but of course it's not.
Once Hua Cheng gets word of what's going on he immediately tells Xie Lian.
There's no WAY they are going to just let you slip from their fingers
They'll simply have to scare your fiance and family away☺️
So Xie Lian goes with San Lang's plan this time
Which is to crash the wedding of course!
🦊🪷
You had been standing at the alter, in your red robes. You would've been happy if you were getting married to someone you actually loved. But you aren't, it's a shame you look so beautiful. You miss Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. They're the only people you've been thinking about the whole time. Even while standing here with your future husband. How shameful.
Your fiance is moving the red lace veil out of your face, preparing to kiss you and seal your marriage but you both are interrupted. Honestly you thought you were imagining your lovers voices because you had been thinking about them the whole time but, no. That's the real Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. A black smoke wipes through the room and suddenly you're in Hua Cheng's arms.
You look like a fish with how you stumble to find words. "S-San Lang what are you two doing here" you look around the room and at your fiance but you don't get the chance before the three of you disappear in the black smoke and arrive at Paradise Manor instead.
"Collecting our lover of course" Xie Lian quips and kisses your head. He carefully takes the veil off your face and removes the jewelry from you. It's taken off gently, the robes not so much. Hua Cheng shoves you into the bedroom and literally rips the robes off of you. "He didn't deserve to see you like that. You looked gorgeous as a bride, but you aren't his bride" Hua Cheng growls out and kisses you.
You're so happy that your lovers have come for you that you're tearing up. You kiss Hua Cheng back just as passionately, and cling around him. Xie Lian settles behind you and kisses the nape of your neck.
"We'll take care of you Baobei so be in a relationship with us instead, we'll take care of everything else, yes?" Xie Lian murmurs and his hands grip at your hips.
"Yes A-Lian and A-Lang will take care of everything" you sigh and happily lean against Xie Lian's chest. Hua Cheng's lips start kissing and biting at your neck roughly, Xie Lian's lips peck over your shoulders. You arch and squeal when Hua Cheng's pointy teeth catch on your nipple.
"Who's bride are you, Baobei?" Hua Cheng growls out and his hand squeezes around your aching cock. You whimper and roll your hips up into his hand. "Yours, yours and A-Lian's only"
You gasp a moan when Hua Cheng starts to stroke you cock and when Xie Lian's oiled - when did he do that? - fingers prod at your prostate, loosening you up for much bigger things in the near future. You blush and pant against your lovers.
Eventually Xie Lian slides into your hole and uncharacteristically starts fucking into you. Hard. "Nobody else's Baobei?" He bites at your ear. You squeal again and Hua Cheng smiles at Xie Lian's bullying. "Nobody else I s-swear, only yours ah~!" You stumble over your words and Hua Cheng moves closer.
His mischievous eyes find Xie Lian's, "do you think both of us could fit, gege?" His hand presses flat against your tummy, making Xie Lian's cock press deeper into you. "Oh~!"
Xie Lian hums and kisses your cheek while keeping a steady pace. The two of them act like you aren't even there. "Stretch him more with your fingers then try San Lang"
San Lang nods and then prods two oiled fingers into your hole. They don't want to hurt you of course! Hua Cheng smiles when your hole easily accommodates his fingers and Xie Lian's dick together. "Are you sure it's only us Baobei? Look at how stretched out you are", Hua Cheng teases.
You babble and whimper at the stretch. It hurts but it feels so good. "No one, no one! Only you, only A- Lian and S-San Lang I promise" you let out a long whine when San Lang engulfs you into a kiss and shoves. The rest of his fingers in. After all if you can't fit his fingers you can't fit his cock. You tear up at the stretch and gulp for air from San Lang's lips.
Once San Lang and Xie Lian work together on stretching you out, He takes his fingers out. He replaced them quickly with his cock though and slowly bullies his way into you and next to Xie Lian's cock. When San Lang manages to get into the hilt all three of you moan. You have two cocks in you, while Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are inside your warm hole and rubbing up against each other. It feels good for all parties.
Your tears slide down your cheeks and you whimper. Xie Lian kisses your cheek and both of your lovers whisper affirmation and sweet nothing's into your ears. You're sandwiched between the two of them. After some time of just sitting and getting used to the stretch Hua Cheng starts fucking into you.
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng gang up on you. They fuck you in a way that never leaves you empty. It's non stop from them and it quickly wrings cum out of you. You squeal and babble while cum splatters over yours and Hua Cheng's chests.
Hua Cheng bites at your lip and lifts your legs so him and Xie Lian can get a better angle. "Whose bride are you again Baobei? Do you remember?" You moan loudly and your nails scratched at Hua Cheng's back. You gurgle on your own drool and blink away tears. "Your b-bride, Xie's bride!" You heave for air, forced to cry and cum over and over again in their cocks. Eventually Xie Lian and Hua Cheng peak over the edge too and both of their cum warms up in your belly.
If you were comprehensive right now, you would've noticed the small bump in your tummy. Your lovers pull out and hot cum drips from your hole. Xie Lian pecks kisses over your face whispering how good of a job you did.
They'll never let you leave them for another.☺️

This is inspired by the fact that I have finally played Hollow Knight! I’m only around 14 hrs in, but I know lots of the lore etc around the game I guess. Also def subconsciously (and not subconsciously in a couple places) inspired by @theballadofmars and @poorly-drawn-mdzs who both have made fantastic HK x MDZS(MXTX) AUs.
I think maybe some hollow knight spoilers? Slight close ups and rambling below
Hua Cheng- he’s a butterfly, but I felt that Grim’s aesthetic (if not much else) seemed kinda fitting for him. I like to imagine him as a fake out boss fight before he officially introduces himself
Xie Lian- I really wasn’t sure what to do with him. So I just made him a vessel, though his horns are meant to be reminiscent of the Pale King (no lore reasons)
Lan Wangji- I wanted him to be like, just a bug. But also a wanderer and protector WWX could run into. My second idea for him actually is kinda ooc for him I think (unless the grey mourner has more going on than I realize).
Wei Wuxian- vessel. It just seemed appropriate since the vessel dies and comes back. Im thinking maybe he once had a bigger form (akin to the hollow knight) long ago that cracked, he becomes a shade and eventually reforms or something idk. I was thinking bugs first, rational later. I think that he’d be either be more like Samus and shoot things from a slight distance or just beat people with his flute.
Luo Binghe- beast, or half beast in this case. I couldn’t get the idea of 4-8 big watery eyes out of my head
Shen Qingqiu- idk, the mantis tribe fights deepnest. It also seemed to fit OG Shen Qingqiu well, being a mantis.
I think if I keep playing HK I will revisit and revise this idea, I’m not really satisfied with XL and LWJ current iterations.
