yknow, for all those people who use ā€œ3x wdc winner vs 3x race winnerā€ as an insult, i donā€™t think you realise that thatā€™s not exactly an insult.
yes, itā€™s true that max is a 3x wdc winner, thatā€™s why heā€™s one of the best. thatā€™s why heā€™s one of the most respected drivers. heā€™s got the talent, and heā€™s got the fast car.
and yes, itā€™s also true that lando is a 3x race winner, thatā€™s because he just got a fast car. heā€™s learning. heā€™s adapting. heā€™s made mistakes, on and off track, but heā€™s learning. and the fact that in his first year of getting a fast car, heā€™s p2 in a wdc is amazing.
max has had a fast car for a long time. he has adapted to that as well. he knows his weaknesses and strengths, and he learns from it and uses it to his advantage. heā€™s had that time to learn to be in a fast car and win races. iā€™m not discrediting him. iā€™m saying that, as every other human on earth, he learned from his mistakes and heā€™s doing extremely well.
lando got a fast car this year. not even the whole season, in fact. he hasnā€™t had time to adapt to having a fast car after driving a mid field car for five and a half years. heā€™s still in that process of adapting. heā€™s making mistakes, but he will learn from them. he said he needed to work on his qualifying last year, and this year, heā€™s got 7 poles in total. heā€™s amongst the few mclaren drivers who have gotten more than 5 poles in one season. thatā€™s an achievement of its own. he knows that he needs to work on his starts. you best believe that next year, heā€™ll be so much better at it.
he knows that this season he made some mistakes off track as well. but, as compared to the start of the season and now, heā€™s gotten much more mature, and much better at using his words correctly. the current situation about him saying it was luck was taken completely out of context. but, haters have a small brain, and a low attention span, so they wonā€™t watch the entire interview.
max has had way more experience than lando has. to use that ā€œ3x wdc winner vs 3x race winnerā€ for a duo where one has significantly more experience than other, not just in a fast car, but also in f1 overall, seems stupid to me.
max won his first race in 2016. and then, he won his first wdc in 2021. sure, lando has a fast car now, but to put an unrealistic expectation on him to be on par with the greatest f1 drivers almost immediately after he wins his first race is a little too much.
this constant need of people to belittle these drivers, whether its lando or max or literally any other driver, is so surprising to me, because none of yall would even be able to drive an f1 car in clean air for one lap, let alone a full race. especially, not at a speed that they do.
these are my opinions. if you donā€™t agree, please fuck right off. if you send me hate, i will block you. i donā€™t give a fuck. if you have something to add or have a counter argument, youā€™re free to do so respectfully.

I hope you take this as the compliment it is intended to be, but you strike the same chord of irreverence-as-love, jokes-to-showcase-sencerity that I get from Chuck Tingle, and I adore both of you.

I think it would really benefit people to internalize that mental illnesses are often chronic and not acute. Some of us will never be able to jump the hurdle of managing illness, much less sustaining a sense of normalcy. Many of us will never "recover," will never manage symptoms, will never even come close to appearing normal - and this is for any condition, even the ones labeled as "simple" disorders or "easy-to-manage" disorders.
It isn't a failure if you cannot manage your symptoms. It isn't a moral failure, and you aren't an awful person. You are human. There's only so much you can do before recognizing that you cannot lift the world. Give yourself the space to be ill because, functionally, you are.

how do you come up with the ways cultures in your setting stylize people/animals/the world in general in their artwork, i.e. jewlery, rock carvings, statues, etc? Each culture in your world seems to have a very unique "art style" and I love it a lot - makes them seem that much more 'real'. This is something I struggle with a lot in my own worldbuilding and I'd love to pick your brain if possible šŸ˜
I think a starting point is to have a research process based in the material realities of the culture you're designing for. Ask yourself questions like:
Where do they live? What's the climate/ecosystem(s) they are based in? What geographic features are present/absent?
What is their main subsistence method? (hunter gatherer, seasonal pastoralist, nomadic pastoralist, settled agriculturalist, a mix, etc)
What access to broader trade networks do they have and to whom? Are there foreign materials that will be easily accessible in trade and common in use, or valuable trade materials used sparingly in limited capacities?
Etc
And then do some research based on the answers, in order to get a sense of what materials they would have routine access to (ie dyes, metal, textiles, etc) and other possible variables that would shape how the art is made and what it's used for. This is just a foundational step and won't likely play much into designing a Style.
If you narrow these questions down very specifically, (ie in the context of the Korya post- grassland based mounted nomads, pastoralist and hunter-gatherer subsistence, access to wider trade networks and metals), you can direct your research to specific real world instances that fit this general idea. This is not to lift culturally specific concepts from the real world and slap them into your own setting, but to notice commonalities this lifestyle enforces - (ie in the previous example- mounted nomadic peoples are highly mobile and need to easily carry their wealth (often on clothing and tack) therefore small, elaborate decorative artwork that can easily be carried from place to place is a very likely feature)
For the details of the art itself, I come up with loose 'style guides' (usually just in my head) and go from there.
Here's some example questions for forming a style (some are more baseline than others)
Are geometric patterns favored? Organic patterns? Representative patterns (flowers, animals, stars, etc)? Abstract patterns?
Is there favored material(s)? Beads, bone, clay, metals, stones, etc.
When depicting people/animals, is realism favored? Heavy stylization? The emotional impression of an animal? Are key features accentuated?
How perspective typically executed? Does art attempt to capture 3d depth? Does it favor showing the whole body in 2 dimensions (ie much of Ancient Egyptian art, with the body shown in a mix of profile and forward facing perspective so all key attributes are shown)? Will limbs overlap? Are bodies shown static? In motion?
Does artwork of people attempt to beautify them? Does it favor the culture's conception of the ideal body?
Are there common visual motifs? Important symbols? Key subject matters?
What is the art used for? Are its functions aesthetic, tutelary, spiritual, magical? (Will often exist in combination, or have different examples for each purpose)
Who is represented? Is there interest in everyday people? Does art focus on glorifying warriors, heroes, kings?
Are there conventions for representing important figures? (IE gods/kings/etc being depicted larger than culturally lesser subjects)
Is there visual shorthand to depict objects/concepts that are difficult to execute with clarity (the sun, moon, water), or are invisible (wind, the soul), or have no physical component (speech)?
Etc
Deciding on answers to any of these questions will at least give you a unique baseline, and you can fill in the rest of the gaps and specify a style further until it is distinct. Many of these questions are not mutually exclusive, both in the sense of elements being combined (patterns with both geometric and organic elements) or a culture having multiple visual styles (3d art objects having unique features, religious artwork having its own conventions, etc).
Also when you're getting in depth, you should have cultural syncretism in mind. Cultures that routinely interact (whether this interaction is exchange or exploitation) inevitably exchange ideas, which can be especially visible in art. Doing research on how this synthesizing of ideas works in practice is very helpful- what is adopted or left out from an external influence, what is retained from an internal influence, what is unique to this synthesis, AND WHY. (I find Greco-Buddhist art really interesting, that's one of many such examples)
Looking at real world examples that fit your parameters can be helpful (ie if I've decided on geometric patterns in my 'style guide', I'll look at actual geometric patterns). And I strongly encourage trying to actually LEARN about what you're seeing. All art exists in a context, and having an understanding of how the context shapes art, how art does and doesn't relate to broader aspects of a society, etc, can help you when synthesizing your own.

okay I have to write this down before I forget
let's do some math here
ARCANE AGES
What we know at the beginning of the series:
Jinx: Approximately 11 or 12 years old
Vi: Around 14-16 years old
Ekko: Stated to be around 12-13 years old
Cait: When she's introduced she's about 15/16
Mel: 26 during Act I
Jayce: Stated on the Wiki that he is 24
Vik: The in-between (25 lol)
Act II of Season 1: 7 years has gone by
Jinx: 11/12 plus 7, this makes her around 18/19
Vi: 14-16 plus 7, about 21-23
Ekko: 12/13 plus 7, he would be 19/20
Cait: 15/16 plus 7, she's 22/23 (I like the idea of Cait being older than Vi)
Mel: Would be 33 if I can do basic math
Jayce: 31 (more basic math)
Vik: 32 (these three are the easiest to math)
Their ages remain the same throughout Act III and Act I of Season 2. The time skip between Act I and Act II of Season 2 is months. So, if we were to assume people had birthdays, we would simply age them by 1.
Jinx: 19/20
Vi: 22-24
Ekko: 20/21
Cait: 23/24
Mel: 34
Jayce: 32 (more like 55 šŸ’€)
Vik: 33
Additional character ages (as of Act II Season 2, or at time of death)
Isha: We don't have an exact age, but judging by her appearance, we can assume she is between 8 and 11.
Sevika: Between 39-41 as of Season 2
Vander: Between 41 and 46, however I'm not entirely sure if Warwick ages the same
Silco: 43-46 at time of death
Sky: ~31 at time of death
Singed: Over the age of 70 according to the Wiki
Ambessa: 60ish years of age
Heimerdinger: As of Act II Season 2, he's roughly 315
Let me know if you want me to add more characters or somethin, I'm a junkie who loves research šŸ˜¼
Feel free to ask about other fandoms too, any that I've reposted about, probably šŸ˜½

Just as a general thought! Not necessarily in your upcoming project or isat. Do you have characters that use it/its pronouns? or even neopronouns?

Fun fact for people who might not know this: Spider Noir is canonically weaker than most versions of Spider-Man.
Itā€™s pretty well known at this point that Spider-Man holds back during fights because he doesnā€™t actually want to seriously hurt or kill anyone. Noir is a little less inclined to that particular aspect of Spider-Man, so naturally the man really isnā€™t holding back. He goes 100% every fight and will still sometimes get his ass handed to him. He is almost constantly in kill or be killed survival mode. This is also part of the reason why he wears bullet proofing, wears all black, has weapons like guns, and goes for more of a stealth approach.

I made a few new wax seal stamps out of clay (like the ones I did for my worldbuilding stuff forever ago), this time just of random symbols that I thought might look good done in the style of painting over the raised part of the wax or etc. :0c Some of them aren't carved deep enough to really show up that well, but overall they worked okay for being clay lol
#wax seal#crafts#wax stamp#stationery#Window one is kind of stinky.. I was imagining like a swirly night sky sort of looking thing so it would be a surreal contrast of a night#sky with a window in the middle that shows a daytime sky - but the silver and purple wax kind of mixed too much together#with the black and it just looks very plain black and not all that starry or anything hjbhj.. Of course the eye is probably my favorite#since all I ever do is draw eyes and still like eye imagery for some reason. The four leaf clover is very lumpy and skrunkty but also it wa#the smallest in size out of all of them so was easier to do multiple stamps of just to try it out.#The heart with eyes wax is actually more swirly in person. I wanted it to be a mix of light pink and red and white. and the wax#did kind of all blend together but in person you can definitely see MORE of the intentional swirlyness. in this it just looks plain pink.#I was going to do one eye in the heart but it looked weird. but now two seems too plain. i could have done 3?? in a pattern.. hmm#alas. I wish I could make actual metal ones. With the clay i have to paint them in a thin layer of olive oil before stamping because#otherwise the wax just kind of gets stuck in the grooves of the clay and then you can't pull it up. Very wacky ''unprofessional'' looking#set up where I'm hot gluing circles of sculpey clay to short stumps of a wooden dowel that I sawed apart with a serrated bread knife#and then using an old paintbrush to put olive oil on them whilst holding a spoon over a yankee candle flame hjbjh#ANYWAY.. I think if I were middle class/rich/etc. this would be one of the main things in my crafting room is like.. SO many colors#of wax. and all different custom made stamps designed by me. which could be much more elaborate in actual metal.. muahaha.... >:)c#RHGghhh... I actually don't want to talk much about it since (this is probably just my Obsessed With My Own World Artist Delusions) I#think I have a really cool idea for a game that could genuinely be successful if i ever get to make it and I don't want to give#everything away and spoil the whole plot/concept in hopes that one day I can actually do it - BUT - a game that I'd like to make after the#visual novel I'm making now has partially to do with the main character working as a sort of writer/scribe/artist assistant in an elven#city (set in my world/with my worldbuilding species and versions of elves and etc) and I was thinking of maybe incorporating#somehow being able to collect little writing type items like these like.. you can get different wax seal patterns or pens or etc. when I do#stuff like this in Real Life it always makes me think of that like.. ouh... this is good research.. what it shall be like to be a littol#elf collecting wax seals and such.. indeed... GRR i need to be finished with my current game NOWWW... i MUST work on other#thingss... aughh... ANYWAY.. yay. accomplishment to do One Single Thing other than Sit In The Summer Heat And Rot#though also hilarious as this was the first cool-ish day that was below 80F in a while hgvh#waking up like 'wow.. i actually feel okay today?? like I could do things?? how mysterious.. I wonder why..?? :0'' Its The Weather You Fool#Tis Always The Weather
