So Long, Garfield: A fanscript on how Garfield could end well
Hello, fans and fat cats. Here I am with another Garfield essay, but this one is different. It is not exploration, fan theory or character analysis, but a fanscript on how the iconic comic strip cat could end on a high note. Keep in mind that this fanscript also tries to uphold all the things that made Garfield great and brings the original concept as well as many original ideas full circle. The premise of Garfield was that we saw life through his eyes namely how he saw his owner Jon’s life at how socially awkward, pathetic and bad with women he was. The audience was also subtly led to believe that if Jon ever did finally find a woman namely his most often go-to-gal Garfield’s vet Liz who found him revolting, it would mean the end of Garfield. Yet when that happened, it still went on. I think the story should end now and here is a fan script that I put together on how Garfield could end in my opinion on a high note while honouring its legacy. It is divided into four parts which symbolize the four stages of a very drastic change in one’s life. Specifically, how everything around Garfield changes in an almost domino effect kind of way because Jon and Liz finally became a couple. Note that that four stages serve as four story arcs which make up what would make for Garfield’s very last volume in the book series.
Tumblr media
1- Jon wants to marry Liz meaning she will move in and the household dynamic and lifestyle will change forever (resistance). - After becoming an official couple, Jon and Liz decide to move onto the next big step which is to get married. Before, when they were just dating, it made Garfield a bit jealous yet he could deal with it because at least everything else was the same in his life and he grew to like having Liz around as a visitor, but having her around full time means things will change the household dynamic forever. It turns out that adapting to having Liz live with them is going to take a lot changes and it means the way they act, live and do every day tasks will not be the same anymore. Initially, Garfield will react very bad to this because unlike Jon, he likes bachelorhood and isn’t ready to give it up, so he would probably do everything he could to foil Jon’s attempts to propose to Liz and even go as far as making Liz very uncomfortable in an effort to get her to dump Jon. However, Garfield’s stunts in fact backfire as Liz turns out to be very tolerant and patient with him as she is not only good with animals since she is a vet, but kind of see right through him so she sympathizes with him not wanting her to intrude. Also, despite all of Garfield’s efforts, Jon still somehow manages to propose to Liz and she says yes. When that happens, Garfield stops resisting and just resigns. Note that from here on end, the planning of Jon and Liz’s wedding is ongoing in the background.
Tumblr media
2- Lyman finally finds his own place and job meaning he will move out, but so will Odie (denial). - This leads us to phase two which also brings up the forgotten yet still present idea that Lyman is Jon’s roommate and Odie is not actually Jon’s dog. After so many years, Lyman finally lands a great job and is able to move out, BUT if he goes, so will Odie. Obvious, neither Garfield or Odie are happy about this because they’re actually good friends. I would imagine that there would be tons upon tons of gags of trying to stop the move out from happening like the pets emptying out the luggage to trying to sneak Odie away so that he secretly stays in Jon and Garfield’s house, but of course, all of these attempts to keep the status quo would not only fail, they would make both Jon and Lyman very angry. I imagine the punchline in the end would be that it turns out that Lyman is only moving away into his own house a few blocks away which is just walking distance. Also, the serious side that keeping Odie isn’t just unrealistic, it’s mean because he’s all Lyman’s got. Of course, Jon and his own friend still be cool. It is also here we finally find out what Lyman does for a living; he is a photographer and he will be taking pictures for Jon and Liz’s wedding. And bittersweetly, while it turns out Garfield and Odie won’t be split up that far apart, them not living together is still a huge change to get used to as their absence in each other’s lives is felt.
Tumblr media
3- Nermal comes to terms with leaving kittenhood and abandonment issues in his mind (depression). - At this phase, Garfield is sad and depressed, and things seem to get worse as Jon and Liz are going to the Arbuckle farm to celebrate their engagement. And fun long lost fact; Nermal is the kitten of Ma and Pa Arbuckle... but things have changed there too and so has Nermal. Mom and Dad have their own announcement which is that they are retiring and have decided to start traveling which means they are leaving the farm and the little guy in Doc Boy’s care. And while the parents are optimistic about this new phase in their lives, Doc Boy is facing some issues as Nermal is no longer a kitten. He is now a “teenager” meaning he is no longer cute and has taken up a rebellious as well as an unfriendly streak. He has become spiteful and does unkind things which as first annoys Garfield until he notices a familiar pattern and recalls he went through the same thing... when his previous owner, a pasta chef gave him to Jon. Despite all of his better judgement, Garfield gets Nermal to have a heart to heart talk, and Nermal admits that he is hurt that Mr. and Mrs. Arbuckle are leaving him behind. He thinks that they are abandoning him because he’s not a cute little kitten anymore. Of course, it turns out that the real reason they are leaving him with Doc Boy is out of love. Nermal has needs and requires stability that the Arbuckles cannot give him at their age, so they are leaving him with Doc Boy so he’ll be in good hands and have a good life. Garfield then finally comes to terms with his own abandonment issues and discovers that the pasta chef did the same thing. He didn’t give him to Jon to get rid of him because he was eating the lasagna all the time. Garfield getting older and hungrier was a sign that he was growing up and needed a good home, so the chef helped Garfield find an owner who could be there for him full time. Through this, for the first time ever, Garfield and Nermal finally find common ground and get to like each other. It turns out that underneath it all, Nermal is a lot like Garfield in how he likes to eat and secretly enjoys mischief. So much so that like how Garfield loves lasagna, Nermal adores country style apple pie. At the end of the engagement party and trip, both Garfield and Nermal’s spirits are lifted, and while Nermal has eased up a little, it is hinted that he has become Doc Boy’s “Garfield” which makes Garfield for the first time ever, finds Nermal cute for it.
Tumblr media
4- Jon gets to know Liz’s parents and Garfield rethinks his own relationship with Arlene (acceptance). - Nearing the end of the wedding plans, Jon must now get to know Liz’s parents and become accepted by them. It turns out that Liz’s dad is an easy going guy who seems to have a lot in common with Jon while her mom is the stern one who seems to have a lot of Liz’s sarcastic and no nonsense demeanor. She is also a big time zoologist. Meanwhile, Garfield is taking in all of the changes that are going on around them and decides that maybe, change isn’t so bad after all. Namely, maybe it isn’t so bad to love someone other than yourself. This makes him think that instead of just being casual with Arlene yet keeping her at an arm’s length, he decides he wants to go steady with her and officially become boyfriend and girlfriend with her. In the midst of all of this, it turns out that despite how intimidating Liz’s mom has acted towards Jon, she actually always accepted him and thinks he is a good match for her daughter because they balance each other kind of like how her own quirky and socially awkward husband balances himself with her. More importantly, Jon makes Liz happier than any other man she has met before. Once that resolution is made and all of the wedding plans are made, Garfield at long last introduces Arlene to the family indicating that they are officially together. Of course, Jon and Liz being who they are, take an immediate liking to Arlene and agree to take her in meaning that she is also not part of the household too. At this point, the wedding plans are finally put into place which offers tons of hilarious antics namely the things that go wrong to the things that are over the top. Though at the end, the wedding finally happens and the final scene is of Jon and Liz becoming husband and wife while Garfield thanks the audience for coming this far with them and saying goodbye.
The End
Well, there you have it. This is my fanscript on how Garfield ought to end in the best way possible. What do you all think of it? I would love to hear what you all think. Do you think any of this will happen?
If you have a fan theory, character analysis or anything of a comic media you want me to make an essay for, let me know in my ask section. Also, please give this a like, give me a watch and support me either by Ko-fi or Patreon. Links are in my profile.

True Colors - Peter Parker
Tumblr media
Pairing: Peter Parker x soulmate!reader
Requested: No
Warnings/notes: Peter Parker’s part of the soulmate mini-series. A bit dull and not much interaction but I hope you like it. Also, I know it’s a bit unrealistic that Peter knows the name of the color blue even though he’s never seen it before, but just roll with it.
Wordcount: 1995
Summary: Soulmate AU where the world is black and white until you meet your soulmate. You’re meeting Peter Parker for the first time when he’s taking you to your prom per requested by Tony.
Tony Stark and Steve Rogers’s wonder child. That’s what everyone called you, much to the two’s dismay. But you loved it. You were an orphan and the two had practically adopted you after taking you in as an asset to the team, and you couldn’t be prouder.
But having two father figures did have its disadvantages, too. One of them being the intense, practically unbearable over-protectiveness.
It was time for your prom, the thing every girl your age looked forward to. You, however? Not so much. You were pretty sure the music would suck, someone would certainly spike the punch, you would get hit on like every other day in school. You could go on all day with the reasons you didn’t want to go.
Prom, parties in general, really, weren’t your scene. You didn’t drink, you listened to Queen and Sam Cooke, not Kygo and Ed Sheeran, or whatever it was people your age listened to nowadays, and you definitely didn’t dance.
You were pretty sure everyone in your year knew of your outlook on prom, but still, a total of nine guys had asked you to go with them. And that was only this week. You had told them all no, obviously, just planning to stay at home.
But then Tony found out about the prom, and insisted you go, telling you that you needed to learn how to let loose every once in a while, and not waste your teenage years running around with a bunch of old farts fighting bad guys.
That’s when Steve found out, and naturally, seeing as him and Tony were practically polar opposites, he had started telling Tony off, saying that he wasn’t helping you let loose; he was trying to force you to be someone you weren’t.
You had thought that was a little dramatic, but you knew about the rivalry going on between the two and figured it would be better to leave them to it.
You would’ve thought, with the way Steve viewed dancing, that he would be the one to encourage you to go to your prom, but no. After learning from Clint and Scott what kids nowadays did on the night of their proms, Steve didn’t want you near anyone of the male species that weren’t a part of the team.
But Tony on the other hand, argued that a girl your age couldn’t attend a high school prom without a date, pointing out that it would ruin the rest of your high school experience as your peers would see you as a social pariah from that moment on.
You didn’t agree with either of them. Even if you did have a date, which you didn’t, you wouldn’t run off and lose your virginity to some jock that you would never see again after high school, which seemed to be Steve’s biggest concern.
And if you did go to prom without a date, which you weren’t since you weren’t attending at all, and you ended up being picked on every day until the day of your graduation, you couldn’t give to shits. You had more important things to think about than teenage drama.
This was exactly what you had told Steve and Tony when you had been having this conversation, and you thought you had made your point clear, but here you were, sitting on your bed with Natasha at your side, staring at the dress hung up on the wall in front of you with a sour look.
“I can’t believe he’s making me do this.” You grumbled, falling back on your bed and putting your arm over your eyes in annoyance. “I can’t he’s making him do this.”
Natasha offered you an amused smile, reaching down to pull you up by your hand again. “Come on, it’s not that bad. You need to get out of the house more, anyways.” She paused as she finally pulled you to your feet. “You haven’t met Peter yet, though, have you?”
“No, I haven’t.” You responded. “And now Tony is forcing him to be my date to the prom I don’t even want to go to.”
“Well, look at it this way. Maybe you’ll meet your soulmate.” Natasha shrugged, trying to rid you of your pessimistic attitude with her optimistic one.
But you only snorted at that. “I highly doubt I’ll find my soulmate in school, where I go every day. If he was there, I would’ve met him already.”
“Maybe not.” Nat protested as she led you over to your vanity table and pushed you down on the chair. “You’ve said it yourself, several times, you never actually interact with the people at your school. It’s possible you might’ve missed him.”
You just hummed, letting her go to work on your hair. Maybe she was right. You hadn’t thought much about your soulmate before. You didn’t really care about romance. You just wanted to get good grades so that you would be able to go to a good college.
But now that you actually took the time to think about it, it might not be that bad. You had heard great things about finding your soulmate from Steve.
You see, up until the moment where you found your soulmate, you saw the world in black and white. No color whatsoever. And when you did find them, your whole world would light up with colors and introduce you to a whole new life.
Steve had told you about the time when he met Peggy Carter more times than you could remember, he had described as detailed as he could the way his world had gone from dull and grey to absolutely beautiful in the blink of an eyes.
But he had also told you about how his world had gone back to black and white when Peggy passed away, the beauty of color gone again, this time forever. You guessed it was that little detail that made you feel so discouraged when it came to be meeting your soulmate.
But then again, how was it any different from the person “just” dying? Everyone died, eventually. Why should that stop you from finding your soulmate? You guessed it was worse for Steve, seeing as he didn’t age like other people did.
But you weren’t like that. So maybe you should actually start hanging out with people your age and give yourself the chance to find him. Did you want a soulmate, in the first place, though? You weren’t sure. But as this was the first time you had actually thought about it, maybe you did.
While Natasha curled and styled your hair, did your makeup and helped you into the dress Tony had picked out for you, Peter sat downstairs with Steve and Tony and the rest of the team, awaiting your arrival.
Peter had met everyone on the team except for you, and the fact that his first time meeting you would be by taking you to your prom made him a little nervous. Alright, that was obviously a lie. Everyone who had met him knew what an actual wreck of nerves he was.
As he sat between Clint and Sam on the couch in his tuxedo, he slowly but surely felt his hands clam up. He glanced at Tony where he sat in his armchair, looking as unbothered as ever.
“Are you sure this is a good idea, Mr. Stark?” He spoke up, breaking the silence. “I mean, if she doesn’t even want to go, I doubt she’ll be happy about having a stranger as her date. And me, at that.”
Tony wasn’t bothered by his doubtful attitude, simply waving it off. “Stop worrying, kid. I won’t sit by and watch her skip her prom, and you’re the best candidate for a date. I know Bucky and Sam has probably told you about how rude she is, but she’s not. She’s actually just rude to them because they’re full of shit, something I assume you’ve picked up on, by now. You have nothing to be nervous about.”
Peter took a deep breath, nodding his head and rubbing his hands on his legs anxiously. Steve observed his movements, taking in his nervous state and feeling a small smile rise on his lips. He had been doubtful of letting Peter take you to your prom at first, thanks to his tendency to find himself in life-threatening situations every time he tried to do something even remotely fun.
But now he was starting to feel more comfortable with the arrangements. Sure, he still wasn’t very fond of the idea that you would be going to a party where someone undoubtedly would be spiking the punch with alcohol and hormonal teenage boys would be looking for girls to deflower, so to speak. But at least you would be in good hands, because, just as Tony said, Peter was by far a better candidate than the boys at your school;
Steve had seen them when he had come to a teacher-parent meeting. He had heard them joking around in the hallways, shoving each other around and cheering each other on as they compared their “numbers”. And that was not the kind of boys he wanted to take you out. Peter might not be the most fortunate or lucky of boys, but at least he possessed manners and chivalry.
No one had the time to say anything else as the sound of heels clicking against the stairs broke through the room then, causing them all to stand up from their spots.
Natasha came down first, successfully covering your body from their views until you had both reached the bottom of the stairs. Peter straightened his back, raising his hands to pull at the hem of his suit jacket as he waited for Natasha to step to the side to let him have a first look of his date for the evening.
And when Natasha moved out of the way, revealing you to him, he was absolutely flabbergasted. His eyes widened, glazing over as the black and white before his eyes slowly started disappearing, countless of different color variations taking their place.
Your breath caught in your throat as your eyes fell upon him, your heart wasting no time in jumping in your chest, thumping against your rib cage so intensely that you felt like you were going to throw up.
The black and white that had only seconds before made up your entire field of view was no more, more colors than you could count taking their place.
You didn’t know whether it was the colors or the fact that you had found your soulmate on this day of all days, after just moments before having been thinking about it, that shocked you most. But one thing you did know for sure; you were absolutely speechless.
“Woah.” Peter let out before he could help himself, eyes wide in amazement and barely being able to form words. “Your eyes are so blue.”
You felt your heart skip at the sound of his voice, secretly grateful that he had been the one to speak first because you were sure your voice would’ve cracked like it would a teenage boy’s if you tried.
Before either of you could say anything else, however, Tony and Steve both jumped into action, pulling the two of you away from each other after you had apparently, without either of you noticing, gotten closer to each other, Tony speaking up.
“You know, now that I think of it. Maybe you should stay at home where we can keep an eye on you, anyways.”
But you didn’t hear him, the color of Peter’s eyes seeming to suppress your every sense and proving to you that everything that Steve had ever told you about soulmates and colors was more than true; and so much more.

Hi! Would I be able to have a MCU and HP ship please? I am a straight girl, standing around 5’3 with shoulder length brown hair and green eyes. I’m curvy, quite pale, and I hate to tan. I’m very sarcastic and have a bit of a caustic wit. I’m quiet till you get to know me, but that doesn’t stop my sarcasm. I’m loyal, stubborn, ambitious, and a Ravenclaw. I’m a bit cynical, and a mix of a pessimist and realist. I tend to be a neutral good or a chaotic good, and I’m an INTJ. Thanks!
I Ship You With...
Tony Stark
Tumblr media
What would draw Tony to you would be your stubborn and ambitious nature. Sure, it can get a little tiring at times, because you’re not one to throw the towel, and you’ll push until you get what you desire with sometimes little regard to the collateral dammage you may cause, but in a way Tony is that way too. He has great ambitions as well that you mirror perfectly. He doesn’t stop at the first inconvenience - nor at the twelfth, for that matter. He’s unafraid to compete and fight for what he wants - it’s a good thing what he wants is you.
Truth be told, you’re not the most optimistic of the bunch, and sometimes the others’ chippery, cheerful atittude to everything gets on your nerves. Although Tony appears confident and detached, he’s riddled with insecurities and traumas and he had a hard time believing that life could hold anything good in store for him after everything he’s been through. You don’t like losing yourself to hopeful, unrealistic outcomes either... but sometimes, a little bit of carelessness and abandon are necessary as to not sink under the weight of your past and your fear. It’s one of the more vulnerable sides of Tony and yours’ relationship, when you allow yourselves to think of the future not in death counts and everything derailing, but in a way-out. A way-out to where and a way-out of what, you’re not really sure, but dreaming of out is sometimes just enough.
Needless to say, you’re one badass couple, and the others normally don’t mess too much with you... normally. When they do, however, it’s light-hearted fun that you appreciate because you always find the best comebacks to shut them up. Even Tony himself, king of sass, is bewildered by the witty remarks you hold in store and how quickly you react, not missing a beat. You defend yourself with so much casual fierceness that he almost thinks he won’t craft you an armor for yourself.
(He does still, partly because he likes to feel in control and that’s a way of having an input in your safety, but mostly because it gives him an excuse to play mad scientist again.)
He quickly finds another excuse, though... when he’s working on a project in his lab, you come to read a book by his side or just spend time in the same room as him. The clatter of tools and vague scent of oil, that you normally would loathe, is somewhat calming when they’re coming from him. And it’s always a little bit adorable to hear him mutter to himself and frown in confusion at where this piece is supposed to go.
He concentrates better when you’re around, he finds... so he makes it a point to have you in the same room as him when he’s working, unless it’s too dangerous. Maybe you’ll even prompt him a few ideas if he’s stuck.
James Sirius Potter (New Generation Era)
Every adventure needs its archetypical heroes, even if the wizarding world. James fills in the role of the leader and the jokester at the same time, keeping the party entertained and on its toes; Albus Severus, when he tags along, is so sweet and gullible that he makes for great bait (although you object to him being muddled with your antics... sometimes), Rose, taking a lot after her parents, is both book smart and street smart, and has creative ways to get out of any sticky situation... and, well, every posse needs its stoic, sarcastic yet fiercely loyal and not-so-secretly affectionate member, and that’s where you come into play.
All the group adores you, obviously, but James and you are the life of Hogwarts in ways that differ from his parents and his grandparents, at the Marauders’ time. You have your inside jokes and a great deal of humor, and most of the students would deem you the most likeable couple in all Hogwarts (and maybe some professors would agree as well).
Sometimes James would make a fun light-hearted comments about your pale skintone, because he knows that you don’t take them personally and they’re all jokes in true Potter fashion, but if anyone ever dares to make an unpleasant remark he will throw hands. You will probably before him, metaphorically speaking though, because you have such great wit that you remain unbothered by any attempt at getting under your skin, but James has learned about the numerous instances of bullying in this school - seriously, do the teachers not do anything? Don’t they keep an eye on their students? -, and he doesn’t want anything of the sort happening to you.
He’s surprised that you are a Ravenclaw with how well you get along with him and with his Gryffindor friends. You have to remind him that a Hogwarts House doesn’t define much about one person and certainly not anything about their value - he could have been sorted into Slytherin, for that matter! He tries to shrug it off and play it cool, but you see him shudder nonetheless. Old prejudice dies hard, you suppose. For the quality of its education, Hogwarts should maybe reinforce its defusing of house stereotypes...
But he can be surprisingly caring when he wants to. He has been around great, solid relationships all his life, namely his parents’, but also more recently Teddy and Victoire’s, and because he’s an observant kid he knows all the faux-pas he must avoid and the mutual respect you’re owed. If you’re not in the mood for physical affection, he won’t force it upon you, even if I imagine it’s his favorite love language. If you are, however, he won’t hesitate to indulge in some PDA... after all, he’s proud of having you as his girlfriend, and he’s certain the castle needs to know it as well.
He won’t shut up about your marvelous intelligence and your bright, green eyes until the last ghost and the last painting in the last corner of the last wing of the castle know all about you. You become weirdly popular among people you’ve never talked to before... and you suspect James Sirius might be beyond all that.

(7) Favourite book and why? This is so so hard because I have read so many amazing books, so I’m just going to give y’all the top 3 (in no particular order) because otherwise I might have a conniption.  1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte I love Jane, okay? She’s a badass and one of my favorite female characters of all time. Plus Edward Rochester is the perfect example of a flawed character who makes mistakes for understandable reasons and has both a believable and earned redemption arc that doesn’t feel unrealistic. Also Bronte was an amazing woman. 2. The House of the Scorpion/The Lord of Opium by Nancy Farmer I hate sci-fi. I know this. My parents know this. My friends know this. My dog knows this. Obama knows this. But these two books are the best. The protagonist Mateo is clever and incredibly kind, and the supporting cast is rich, diverse, and engaging. 10/10 would recommend. 3. Beauty by Robin McKinley This novel has made me cry so many times and is the foundation for my own writing style. I’m a sucker for a BatB retelling, and this one is the best there is. It is pure loveliness and I read it at least once every other month.
EDIT: I am the biggest of fools. This question meant favorite HP book. I am disgusted with myself. Who even am I.
(The answer is Deathly Hallows because Romione and also Snape).
(12) Thoughts on Severus Snape? I love this character so deeply. He was my favorite long before I finished the series, and The Prince’s Tale served as the most heart-breaking “I TOLD YOU SO” ever. I see Severus as an optimist constantly forced into pessimism. In The Prince's Tale, we meet a little boy who hopes that Hogwarts will save him, an adolescent who hopes that his friends and teachers will believe him, and a broken man who hopes that Albus Dumbledore won't fail him. Even though the deck is always stacked against him, Severus believes that there is hope. He hinges his entire life post-Lily on the hope that her son will be able to live and thrive in the way she deserved to. But time and time again, he is disappointed. Hogwarts proves to be a nightmare, Lily takes the word of any Gryffindor over his own and the staff seem to be indifferent towards him at best, and Lily and Harry both die. He tries to tamp down his innate desire to seek out the light, but he never quite succeeds. This, I think, is the greatest tragedy of Severus' character-- he has so much more faith in others than they ever have in him, and I find this character so intriguing because we never once see him falter, even as he realizes this. He takes his medicine and saves hundreds of lives and never once asks for a thank you.
Also he’s bisexual and Jewish, like me soooooooo I kinda have no choice but to like such a perfect disaster of a boi. (20) Favourite Death Eater? Ummmm probably Lucius Malfoy? I hate him ever so much but he is so fun to hate, you know? Also his fucked up dynamics with literally every character we see him with except *maybe* Narcissa makes for great meta.
Thank you so much for the ask! *hugs* Ask me more here!

Shows Like Parks and Recreation
If you’re anything like me, you love Parks and Recreation. I have seen this show more times than I can count, and I can quote it on demand. But sometimes you see a show too many times that you get a little bored and need some time for a break. If you miss this show as much as I do, and you need a little break from re-watching it, here’s a few shows you could watch instead!
The Office
Tumblr media
The Office I’m sure you’ve heard, but if you haven’t or are unclear why you should watch this, The Office is widely considered Parks and Rec’s predecessor. It’s more in your face with it’s sarcasm, racist jokes, and in my opinion, season 1 Parks and Recreation. The show is about boss Michael Scott and the Scranton Paper Company shenanigans. It has a Will They Won’t They? trope, a bunch of goofy characters, and crazy plots. From the people I have talked to, they have found if they love Parks and Recreation, The Office is really hard to get into (I was the opposite, it took me several tries to get into Parks and Recreation) but it’s worth it. With it’s plethora of cringy jokes comes a lot of heart and a loving dysfunctional family. It’s a must watch in my opinion.
Trial and Error
Tumblr media
I love this show so much, it hurts. With two seasons, Trial and Error is a mockumentary about Josh, a lawyer from New York who got his first big gig in a very small town that’s just as insane as Pawnee, Indiana (if not more). Larry is suspected of murdering his wife and Josh is his lawyer. Each episode comes classic Parks and Recreation humor, a spectacular cliff hanger that makes you want more, and a whole lot of heart. It’s a wonderful and lovely workplace comedy that makes you want to investigate the murder along with them. If you love Andy, Dwayne will probably be your favorite. It’s as if Andy did become a cop, and then you get Dwayne. It’s... interesting to say the least. I like to think Josh is kind of like a more optimistic Ben.
Bonus: a Will They Won’t They couple although you’re not sure if you want to root for them or not.
Superstore
Tumblr media
I swear I’m not just naming NBC shows, but this is a must have on this list. And it features a Parks and Recreation character! Although Garrett is much less high than his character on P&R. Superstore is about a character named Jonah coming to work at a Walmart type of store called Cloud Nine. He meets a bunch of crazy people and they become a very dysfunctional work family. Not very much like Parks and Recreation but it’s still very fun and the humor is also fun. My favorite parts are the interludes where we get to see customers just being horrible customers. It’s a lot of fun and I recommend it. It also has a Will They Won’t They couple because all NBC workplace comedies has to have one.
Santa Clarita Diet
Tumblr media
This one is an acquired taste. This is a show about Drew Barrymore’s character, Sheila, becoming undead (but not a zombie, don’t call her a zombie) and having to live with that all while being a mother and a realator. This show focuses on Abby, her daughter, and her friendship with the nerdy next door neighbor Eric, as well as Sheila and Joel’s (her husband) relationship, all while trying to figure out why the hell that started happening to her. It’s fun, it’s gory, it has a whole lot of heart and I will forever be grateful that this show exists. It’s a bit more silly than Parks and Recreation, however, I really recommend giving it a chance. Bonus: Joel and Sheila are almost as cute as Ben and Leslie.
Bob’s Burgers
Tumblr media
Yay! Animation! This one is so much fun. Bob’s Burgers is about Bob Belcher’s family owning a burger shop, but it’s also so much more than that. If you loved Leslie’s crazy antics, you’ll love this one. Every single episode is a new crazy plot that doesn’t really make much sense but it’s so much fun to see how each character reacts. Bob and Linda are the best couple ever on TV (I’ll fight you if you disagree) and the kids are iconic. Like Parks and Recreation, it has a whole lot of heart and you’ll fall in love with the Belcher family. Bonus: Louise reminds me of a crazier April, so that’s a whole lot of fun.
The Good Place
Tumblr media
I’m back on the NBC shows. The Good Place is about four humans dying and going to the Good Place, where Michael is the architect but he’s new so he doesn’t really know what he’s doing. Not only that, but Eleanor, one of the humans, finds out that she’s not supposed to be in the Good Place so she gets Chidi’s help to make her a good enough person to stay in the Good Place. The spoilers are real on this one so be careful if you research it. Like Parks and Recreation, it has tons of optimism and it’ll remind you the good in humanity. It has the token stupid but lovable character, Jason, and the super nerd, Chidi. This show is super fun and it’s full of suspense and cliff hangers that will make you want to watch more. It has the token Will They Won’t They but this one I consider much more fun because it’s unpredictable (and you have to watch the show find out why it’s more fun). It is a bit silly and unrealistic, so if you didn’t like that side of Parks and Recreation, maybe scroll down a bit more.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Tumblr media
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a show about a group of detectives at the 99th precinct in Brooklyn, New York who gets a new captain, much to the character Jake’s dismay. It’s full of love and heart and remarkable characters that you will fall in love with. It has callbacks and running gags and almost every single person I’ve talked to that has seen this show has loved it. Full of cool detective storylines (as well as character storylines) it’s awesome and lovable. If you loved the workplace family Parks and Recreation provided, this is the show for you. It takes about a season or two to really get into the family, but it’s worth it. It’s hilarious and lovely and one of my favorite shows. Bonus: another Will They Won’t They couple, how surprising. Also Terry Crews. Hes awesome.
Great News
Tumblr media
I debated whether or not to include this one because it’s really weird. It’s like 30 Rock weird. It’s weirder than any other show on this list (including Santa Clarita Diet). But, with the weird antics and the crazy characters and the Tina Fey jokes comes a lot of heart. I know I’ve been saying that each of my recommended shows have heart, but that’s what I’m basing this list on. Parks and Recreation gave us a lot of heart and I think that’s why a lot of us love it. Because it’s warm and safe. This show is crazy (that’s seriously not an exaggeration) but it’s lovable. It’s about a woman working at a news station and her mother coming to work with her. We get to meet a lot of characters that you may or may not like (but you’ll end up liking all of them by the end) and of course another Will They or Won’t They couple because it’s NBC. It has a lot of cool guest stars (Tina Fey included) and weird plots that will make you (possibly) want to watch more. I’m really selling it, huh? Well like I said, it’s weird.
Alright thanks for reading. I made one of these for Girl Meets World that I’ll link later when I’m less tired. I plan on making a lot more of these in the future because I’ve seen more than 200 shows and I don’t know what to do with it all.
Here’s my masterlist of the lists I create.

Does Psychology Bring Happiness?
Does psychology bring me happiness? No, it doesn’t. While most other people try to buy their happiness, devote their lives to external (mystical) purposes or get involved in communities, or whatever else they do to achieve their sense of happiness, psychology can’t be taken away from me because it's in my head. This makes it stable.
Material possessions can be either lost or stolen-They therefore require security/protection (which causes both stress and additional costs-Unnecessary costs because security doesn't solve problems and protection is only ever necessary when a threat exists). External purposes can be proven false or to not exist, causing it to require willful ignorance and cognitive dissonance; Communities can easily shun people for whatever reason, because they’re irrational. Therefore, none of these are stable sources of happiness.
So, psychology is untouchable, yet, it doesn’t provide me happiness? That’s only because there are problems that can’t be solved because other people are refusing to make necessary social and economic changes, and no matter how loud I yell, or how many times I repeat myself-They still won’t budge. They will only resort to tactics or various fallacies in defense of their positions. I know to question people, but: 1. I'm the only one who does, and 2. They will only make excuses for themselves and walk away.
I am obligated to deal with problems caused by these people; Many don't even see them as problems.
What is happiness? There are a few components that I think happiness depends on: 1. Knowing who you are and being happy with it. This is the only possible happiness because only the person can lose self-esteem. This world being as hateful as it is, the skill to just either question or ignore insults [change if the insult is actually (unintentionally) accurate], is the security. 2. Having abundant access to life’s needs and indulging in the natural aspects of our being (relationships, education, experience, etc.).
Relationships are a grey area, for psychological reasons: Many adults are forced to either end a relationship or suffer it, because the partner is mentally ill. This means happiness can't exist within a relationship for many, because they're unable to find somebody who is rational; Somebody who is rational not under influence (their actual self). This doesn't mean relationships are not part of the equation of happiness, it only means human psychology prevents many from finding a healthy one.
If true love does exist, many people are indoctrinated, and are therefore not their true self; Which means such people would actually be somebody’s “soul mate”, but the indoctrination prevents such a relationship from either happening, or causes the relationship to break up.
I've heard that some people refuse to end the relationship for some reason, because their spouse is mentally ill and they either don’t want to be single or they got married and have kids. These people are only enabling their spouse, therefore, ending the relationship becomes their responsibility for this reason. If these people got married, well, the price they end up paying is the price for their error of getting married.
This world restricts and limits in the manner that we are all obligated to earn life’s needs. You’re criminal if you take without paying, you can only have what you can afford and you can’t have anything without money, or at least having worked for it. Relationships are no different, they can still exist, but, they aren't much fun without an income.
While psychology is how and why people think and behave, skilled people can help others achieve mental stability, if the problem is only an error in thinking. Psychology can’t be the source of happiness if they aren’t the ones who caused a particular problem and also can’t correct or change something to solve it-If they’re forced to deal with those problems while having no control over things.
Psychology needs to be in effect on a global scale, for it to enable and maintain a state of mental well being. It’s not about anybody in particular, but everybody. Jobs are the problem that I’m facing, something that holds me back from fully experiencing life without having one, the same goes with most other people. Ironically, having a job is also what holds most of us back from fully experiencing life. Jobs are therefore, a paradox.
To have a job is to sacrifice that percentage of the day, which can't be spent doing other things we want to do. To not have one, means to not have the money to do anything. This is the paradox.
I see employment as the problem, but most others don't, so, they think I have the problem and I'm the one who needs to change. Many others will complain, but, that's just a part of life to them.
In this world, with the social backwardness, which causes violence, hate, corruption, etc. a world of order, not balance, I need psychology for protection against all negatives-Those who are inept and seek to bring others down with them, or simply feel sorry for themselves but don’t seek self improvement. People who will only perpetuate the social decline, due to psychological weakness. Even positives-Those who are unrealistically optimistic about their own lives and future, while self-projecting their own views onto others.
These people preach their false contentment onto others. Completely and irresponsibly disregarding any issue(s) others are facing, telling them to cheer up, be happy and don’t worry, simply because they are happy. Or at least try to convince themselves and think they are. This world is not the way it is because people communicate and solve problems.
What I mean by “psychology against all negatives” is, I need to question everything and everybody who tries to bring me down or convince me to adhere to their antisocial and fascist worldview. I also need to understand why people have the mentalities they do. Many will give their side of the story about a problem in their lives, not realizing whomever they’re confiding in, doesn’t have everybody else’s side, so, they can’t know what’s actually going on-Many people are dishonest or are simply wrong.
I agree that worrying is useless because it doesn’t solve problems. However, I can look past that because other people cause many problems and believe in many falsehoods (jobs, the legal system, etc.) which everybody else is obligated to comply with and conform to, while nobody solves problems. They instead delegate such responsibilities onto other people and higher causes.
“It wasn’t meant to be”:
This is nonsense. If any opportunities are lost or relationships don't happen, it's because some obstacle prevented them. No greater cause is responsible, only conditions that we've created against ourselves and others, like jobs.
Given that the economy actually causes a strong interference with everybody’s life (I can’t say it dictates our life because people are able to interact), it does hold a lot back from people. People are denied relationships and opportunities because of financial complications, so, to tell anybody “it wasn’t meant to be.” when something either doesn’t happen or fails, is nonsense. The purpose of the economy is to produce for our own survival, not social management. The worship of money is a neurosis because it's purpose is only to purchase, it's never supposed to be valued over life.
Again, given that relationships are essentially maintained by money, maybe I don’t want one, maybe I'm wrong to want one (in economic terms, which is what relationships are actually based on). If I do ever meet somebody, great. If I never do, so be it. I was born into this monetary economy with no options [other than to starve (which others would fallaciously call an option) if I don’t want to work for a living], I can’t change it either, which means it’s a problem I didn’t cause, but, I also can’t solve.
I say that's fallacious because if nobody would ever choose to starve, they're only calling it an option to defend money/capitalism against others who challenge it.
Yes, relationships often end, and usually for the stupidest of reasons. Most relationships are marriages, which makes them difficult to end because certain third parties (divorce lawyers) have their hand in it. This unnecessarily adds hardship to the break-up process, which also intensifies the emotional aspect of it. Does this mean relationships are unstable? Not really. If adults were mature and responsible, they would discuss matters and be able to decide whether or not to end it, which would then be on good terms, if they do end it.
Confusing pleasure with happiness
I’ve already explained that material possessions are unstable because they can be either lost or stolen, they are also unstable because people tend to get bored with them, the pleasure isn’t always lifelong. That’s also it though, pleasure isn’t happiness, it’s sensual gratification. Happiness is mental well-being. Sex is the most pleasurable human experience known to us, and it’s completely natural. Sex isn’t happiness though, because that would mean people can never stop making love. The physical touch is obviously also pleasurable, not just the orgasm, but sex is only a factor, in the equation of a relationship. Relationships alone aren’t even a form of happiness, it’s only a factor of it.
The big picture:
I would say happiness consists of the true self, people who think for themselves because they agree with everything they do, for their own reasons and not what others have convinced them of. Possessing the critical thinking skills to debunk false information and bad opinions down. People who live how they want to, not try to fit in. Those who a psychologically strong enough to ignore peer pressure.
This doesn’t mean people are bad if they’re unable to. Many have the misfortunes of an insufficient upbringing (severe in many cases), which means their environment decides their fate. Many don’t have a chance, and they end up in the point of no return. Meaning, they’re mentally beyond any reasoning, so, it’s best to just wait until they’re gone.
This occurs because those who claim to be “skeptical freethinkers”, are anything but. Everybody who disagrees with anybody else-Who resorts to name calling, insults, ridicule and hate when those with bad ideologies ignore any kind of facts, are no better. Everybody should be questioning them instead. The solution really is the problem underneath.
I think many people are living the wrong idea of happiness-They've merely accepted the way the world is (the way things are), and are erroneously calling that happiness. It isn't so, because they're only accepting what little they have as they're being denied the rest in life.

MY VILLAINOUS LAIR
TL;DR - I’m indecisive and I don’t know if I want to live in a large house surrounded by friends and family, or if I’d be better off hiding away in isolation inside some tiny, walled off excuse of a home. No to cars, yes to gardens. Fuck yeah, nature!
-
Nothing’s more fun than being tasked with writing a blog post for a class activity. To start things off, I’d like to apologize beforehand for this needlessly long wall of text. I don’t expect you to read along, and I certainly don’t expect you to remember all the itty bitty details, but I do want you to know is that I’m what the cool kids call extra. We were expected to draw one house and my stupid self ended up coming up with three. If that doesn’t give you an idea of what kind of person I am, then I don’t know what will.
The question still lingers: what exactly do these houses represent? If there’s one thing I’ve learned today, it’s that all these seemingly insignificant little doodles form a bigger picture. Isn’t it exciting - a big picture made of little pictures? Like one big mosaic where each tile delves deeper into the myriad insecurities that stir within me. My inner optimist says it’ll paint something pretty, like a field of vibrant sunflowers, or a horde of zombies getting ravaged by a pack of fire-breathing velociraptors. Then again, there’s also the possibility of this picture taking the semblance of a donkey’s sphincter, or possibly even Mama June after a hot, sweaty yoga session.
Either way, the picture isn’t what’s important.
What’s important is that I’ve got three houses, each more pointless than the last, and it’s my job to figure out what these doodles mean. Even as the professor spoke and told us to put our pencils aside, I simply couldn’t keep mine off the paper. It was like there was this odd, supernatural force compelling me to finish what I started. But why? I don’t even put this much effort into waking up in the morning, so what’s gotten me to go full-ham on something entirely fictional and meaningless? The more time I spent on the drawing, the more I began to realize it was wholly unrealistic.
So I started again.
Scratched that one after five minutes. Too small, too unambitious. This one didn’t seem right to me at all.
So I started again.
Eventually I ran out of time, and was ultimately left with three unfinished houses; all distinct with little-to-no similarities save for the essentials. Needless to say, I was devastated. How could I fail something as simple as drawing a house? This was the unassuming sort of task you’d give to a five year old and I’m sure they’d manage to get it finished one way or another. I’ll bet their houses even have dinosaurs. Life isn’t fair.
Tumblr media
The first house I drew was far larger than the other two - the perfect home for a less-than perfect family. There’s even a small patch of land in the back that’s dedicated to growing fruit and vegetables, it is fucking awesome. Despite the sheer size of the building, the rooms totaled to four, and that’s only if you don’t count the garden and the backyard. Think of it this way: if a house is big, you can assume it’s got a lot of rooms, and if it’s got a lot of rooms, it’s got a lot of space for inhabitants and/or guests. Generally, some of the more introverted people prefer returning to a lonelier home after a long day of work, faking smiles and chatting up people they’d never interact with outside the office. The last thing they’d want to deal with at home is even more needless social interaction.
With that in mind, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to conclude that an introvert wouldn’t want to live with other people unless they absolutely had to. The second house drawn seems to represent this on a deeper level. Let’s pretend for one minute that there’s more to me than meets the eye. It’s not totally unreasonable to assume that a self-proclaimed introvert would want some company every now and then - there’s no shame in wanting to be alone, but that doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to enjoy spending time with friends and family. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Though it might not be clear, given my abysmal skill with architecture, house planning and all things creative, I poured a lot more passion into this house in comparison to the others. Even if I firmly believe that what other people think of me is none of my business, I still feel as if my appearance matters in some way. I’m all for sticking to the status quo but there’s no denying that I’m, as I said before, what the cool kids call extra. For better or for worse.
It’s strange. I’d never admit it in person, I do actively try to distinguish myself from the crowd for whatever reason… but at the same time, I resent the attention that comes with it. It’s a hard duality to put into words, so you’ll have to pardon my inability to explain it. I don’t quite get it myself, you see. Even if everyone in the world’s special and unique in their own whimsical little ways, people are too busy concerned with themselves to notice this about others. It’s an easy to trap to fall into, perceiving someone as dull simply because they’re not good conversationalists; because their quirks are of the subtler sort and only tend to shine once you truly get to know the person.
The tragedy is, people won’t ever invest enough time to see that side of them.
This is only highlighted by the sheer difference between this house and the two drawn after it. It could be argued that the first home - the larger home - represents the side of me that wants to be surrounded people, and stand out by towering over all the others. This is in stark contrast to the other two, which arguably fits the size of an apartment room than an actual house given its scale and lack of a second floor - a claustrophobic little hovel that’s more fit for a gremlin than a man. I’d imagine it’d be like living in a trash compactor. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good living. Doesn’t change the fact that you’re living in a trash compactor.
Still, I get the feeling I’m only scratching the surface and that there’s so much you can take from the size of the two houses alone. Maybe it represents my desire to live in isolation in my villainous lair, walled off from the rest of the world. Looking back on it now, there’s no way I’d survive in a house like that. I’d go insane, mainly because there’s nothing to do but also because I’m a bit of a claustrophobe. What was I thinking?
Tumblr media
Just by looking at this house alone, you can already tell I’ve started to lose a bit of steam. There’s a reason why I don’t do interior decorating - it’s because I’m absolutely dreadful at it. Look at this. What kind of madman puts the bathroom next to the kitchen and not the bedroom? It’s hilariously inefficient, if you ask me. Takes a certain kind of idiot to come up with a house like this and even bigger one to want to live in it.
Tumblr media
Bah! It just gets worse and worse!
If there’s something all three of these houses have in common, it’s a kitchen. Funny. You’d think the bedroom would be something I’d prioritize, but apparently food comes first. In all fairness, the only reason I didn’t include a bedroom in the first doodle was because I lacked the time. It’s strange though. I haven’t exactly cooked a proper meal since I moved here just a little over a year ago. Perhaps this the brain’s strange and subtle way of telling you to start cooking once again, though it’s also possible that my brain’s simply calling me fat. Either way, it capitalizes on my love of food.
On the other hand there is something that all my houses lack and the only person I can blame for that is myself. There’s no fucking garage. Whether it was a simple overlook or a subconscious desire, it’s given me a lot to think about. I’ve never been fond of cars, and I’ve never exactly wanted to drive either so it’s only natural that there’ll be nothing in my house related to such things. Still, every family ought to have a vehicle. They’ve got to get around town somehow. Walking simply isn’t an option in this day and age, as fun as it sounds. Speaking of oversights, I’ve also failed to make any note of what house would look from the outside. All I’ve got is a top-down view: a simple outline that maps out where the furniture’s supposed to go.
Not that I’d end up following it anyway.

When I’m gone
Peggy and Steve lay togther in bed, Peggy rest her head onto his chest and Steve stroking her hair.
Her mind was filled with worry and sadness. Her father had passed away the past month and things have been chaotic and down right depressing. Her mother wasn’t handling it well at all. She felt lost without him and she had no motivation or will to do anything, she was just so focused on the heart break and pain. She wouldn’t go out with her friends anymore or even go to a movie or to the store.
Although, she was worried for her mother it also got her thinking about her future.
“Steve, if anything were to happen to me....” Peggy began nervously. “You would be okay right? You would move on and live your life without me, right?”
He sat up slowing and looked at Peggy with fear in his eyes. He took her hand.
“Peg are okay? What’s wrong? Are you sick?”
“Steve I’m fine.” She assured him as she put a hand on his cheek. “Nothings wrong. It’s just something I think we should talk about. I mean with my father passing and misery and pain that my mother is going through, I figured maybe we should talk about what we would want if the other one died suddenly. I mean it’s not unrealistic and especially for me since I work at shield. My parents were togther for 63 years, that’s a majority of their life spent togther. I hope that we will last that long. You know? that we both live to see our kids get married and have families of their own. But I don’t know what the future holds. I just want you to know what I would want from you.”
“Peg, I-i cant...I won’t- I don’t wana talk about this.” He spoke nervously, as he laid down pulled the covers over him.
“Steve...look I know you better than anyone and I know how much you love me. You mean the world to me too. But when I die, I don’t want you to pause your life...to stop having adventures, making memories and having fun cause I’m gone. I don’t want you to be sad, not even for a moment. Just celebrate my life and the life we had and start a new chapter. It would be the end of my story but not the end to yours.”
“Peggy stop! I don’t want to talk about this!” He yelled. “It’s not gonna happen for a long time-just don’t worry I will be fine. Just-just go to sleep okay?”
“Steve we need to talk about it! Like it or not we’re gana die someday and one of us going to have to go first. Why can’t you talk about it?”
“Because losing you will be the worst pain of my life. It will feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest and stomped on. Oh but that was before all this, before we built a life together! it’s going to be even worse this time around. Peggy do you have any idea how much you mean to me? when I was gone, all I thought about was you. For ten years I couldn’t get you out of my head. I couldn’t...I wouldn’t be able- to move on, I couldn’t do it when I first lost you. your my everything....”
Peggy hugged her husband tightly.
“You have given me the perfect life, the life I always wanted.” Steve continued. “My life was empty until you came back into it.“
“You have more than just me now. You have your kids, your friends and all those students who look up to you. There gana need you still to be there for them and to be the optimist that you are. You need to hear it from me, and know that’s what I want from you. When I die find love with someone else. go on dates, flirt with a nice red head or two.” She said with a smile and a chuckle. “Or maybe even go out with one of Maria Stark’s single friends, that always try to hit on you.”
He gave a forced smile.
“Peg, I will try. But I don’t know-“
“Just try, that’s all I ask. Steve...listen to me. I love you so much! honestly I never met a man whom I felt so close to, so inspired by, whom made me feel so safe and happy. Your truly my knight in shinning armor and a blessing.”
He took her in his arms and held her close to him as he kissed her lips.
