Glad to see someone shares my appreciation for the hannibal women 💪💪
Always and forever! I utterly despise the handful of Hannibal fans that are dismissive and even hateful towards the female characters, while praising the male characters for doing similar or even worse things! And this isn't just a Hannibal problem, but a fandom problem in general, ex: hating Alana for "getting in the way" of Will and Hannibal's relationship, labelling her a bitch even though she's just trying to help (albeit, that help isn't the best but she has good intentions at heart). Or disliking Abigail for being manipulative and cold at times when Hannibal and Will are right there.
Dislike female characters all you want, but don't make them out to be these horrible monsters when the main character of the show is LITERALLY a cannibalistic serial killer. Only one character had Abigail's best interests at heart, and it wasn't any of the men (hint: it was Alana, so stop making her out to be a vindictive bitch in fics, I hear this is a problem within the fandom)
Hannibal being unable to not talk about Will while lying naked in bed with Alana is the same to me as Arthur being on a beautiful picnic with Gwen talking about his dream of running away to a farm with just Merlin
misty’s gay little smile after saying natalie looks like she’d stab you. “stunning.” the fact that misty calls nat her best friend and she means that. the implication that misty probably doxxed the motel worker a while ago just in case and has had his address and social security number memorized since. yeah. (x)
once again thinking about abigail hobbs and agnes montague... girls who were defined by the love others gave them, whose loved ones yearned to see them sacrificed, who were primarily seen through the filtered gaze of a loved one... girls who were full of frustration and never given a chance to really act on it. who died in an unfortunate, poor twist on how they Should have died, who never got the honor they were due. who haunt the narrative. whose lack of agency in the narrative is an essential part of their character. who died before they got to define themselves, leaving the audience with only a chalk outline to shape our guesses at who they were and who they might have become.
i think will and chiyoh should hate each other forever. and i think chiyoh and bedelia should meet and make out. and i think chiyoh and beverly should sit in the same room together for a bit. and i think hannibal and will should chew glass.
who is going to fully admit that will graham being louisianan probably means he loves country music. there's vague mentions but not enough. i want to see more. i want to see hannibal steadily die inside as will changes the radio and some bluegrass nonsense plays.
i am so goddamn tired of every single fantasy story being about men. i am so goddamn tired of women being side characters and love interests and set dressing and an afterthought. i am so goddamn tired of women who are powerful but feminine. women who are "dressed to kill" and they are wearing eyeliner and a dress and heels. i am so goddamn tired of women always being healers and having water magic. i am so goddamn tired of men going on adventures and dying nobly. i am so goddamn tired of never being able to find a story about women that i can fall in love with. i am so goddamn tired of all fandom being about men.
