can't believe I haven't said it over here yet cause I'm obsessed with it but Sirius with physical image issues.
No no, not like he doesn't feel as beautiful as others say he is, or like he's obsessed with how he's perceived. Not eating disorder or anything like that. No.
Blacks are inbred. They all have the same genes, they all look the same. Sirius looks in the mirror and sees his mother. His father, his entire family, and the horrors he overlaps them with. He looks in the mirror and sees someone evil, something he can never hope to run from.
And he's vain, he knows so, he cares for how he looks, not like James; he spends ten minutes fixinf his hair every morning and dresses to impress and he loves to be complimented. He knows he's beautiful, but it's so hard to both love that and hate where that beauty comes from. So hard, sometimes, to remember that it doesn't mean he also looks like them on the inside.
Remus hugs him, reflected in the mirror, and lists all the things he loves about Sirius that are only his, not on Regulus and not on their parents.

Tropes I Adore pt.1: Weapon Dicotomy
I absolutely love when we give characters weapons don’t look like something that fits the character but that they are awesome at using.
One prime example of this that I love is when we give fantasy genere characters a gun instead of a sword or a bow and arrows or spear or something. I just love the image of an elf of getting ready for a battle and they suddenly pull up with a fucking Glock (shoutout to Alberu Crossman and his taerang).
Another example of this is having like a big burly knight holding a giant sword but jokes on you the sword actually turns into a whip. Or having gnomes driving a tank with a machine gun. Fantasy characters with modern weapons is absolutely hilarious I think.
This also works with more modern characters. Like having a young school girl with a police grade taser or a middle aged man who carries around pepper spray or an old woman with a goddamn katana.
This is always hilarious to me because it doesn’t look like these people should be using these weapons, but they do and they are absolutely badass with them.

As someone who judges a gore effect on whether or not it makes me look away, evil dead is an enigma and a treasure. Like there’s a level of gore I can stand but the better and more realistic it is, the more likely I am to tap out. Full props to the effect crew though, they’re doing a fantastic job.
Evil dead makes me swing wildly between “oh this is too much, I can’t. The effect is why too good,” and “this is so over the top that it’s hillarious. The effects team is doing a fantastic fucking job
Love the part in Evil Dead 2 where Jake is being dragged into the cellar and Annie is trying to drag him out by the legs, but even when she's getting hit by a torrent of blood she's still pulling, like

❓ for rainbow brite maybe?
Tumblr media
🌙⋆。°✩ -- Send ❓ and I’ll tell you a plot idea I’d like to explore with our muses!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
specifically for lilli's pre!freed verse , if for some first-time greeters rainbow feels the urge to want to spruce up eisland , she may be butting heads with lilli . lilli can be a bit snippy with things her father does not approve of , but also funny hijinks between a little girl trying to spread color and another one trying to hide it . lilli may seem pretty mean at first , but considering she's an ai and that rainbow's actions could get her killed , it's probably for the best .
BUT ALSO AND ONE I WOULD LOVE-- rainbow showing lilli color for the first time . maybe even taking her to rainbowland , similar to how the little boy was ? also with rainbow's magic , lilli could avoid getting into trouble with all this new knowledge from dear ol' dad .
Tumblr media Tumblr media
with t.abaluga . . . have a funny dragon . let him loose in colorworld and chaos ensues , but in a harmless way . sorry that this is vague , but have a lore dump for your troubles :
the rainbow in this world is a sentient being and caretaker of the depressed daughter of the sun and moon . it also serves as a physical representation to the pathway to the ' shining silence' , a metaphor for heaven and a love that grants unity and inner peace to the whole world and everything in it-- or so the old myths say . so idk that could be a fun thing for them to talk about ^^;

MOS Pa Kent and MAWS Pa Kent
I find the polar opposite depictions of Jonathan in these stories incredibly fascinating.
MOS Jonathan shields and separates Clark from anything related his heritage, including things like his ship and powers. Encouraging suppresion and caution in Clark.
Actively telling Clark to hide his powers and never use them, scolding him whenever he used them. He is a man terrified of the world taking his son away from him, specially knowing he has no real way of protecting Clark from anything that may seek to harm him. So he encourages him to hide himself and avoid drawing any attention.
He is a more jaded and cynical man, immediately assuming the world would attack and try to kill his son (he ended up being right, which is its own can of worms), would try to rip his miracle child, his star baby away from him.
He only sees a world that would harm the child he so desperately seeks to protect, that child he loves more than anything.
MAWS Jonathan is the complete opposite of his MOS counterpart. He is the one that encouraged Clark to discover himself, to make contact with the ship, to practice his use and control of his powers, even turning that into a game a young Clark could enjoy.
He is aware of the shock Clark´s existence will create but in the end he has faith in humanity seeing Clark for what he truly is, someone who just wants to help others.
He is more optimistic and cheerful, thinking of the best and encouraging other people to do so too.
In MAWS, Martha is the one who is the one who wants to keep Clark away from anything alien, the one that clings to him and wants to keep him hidden.
While Jonathan is cheerful over Clark deciding to go public and help people, Martha is the one that is slightly reluctant (though not to MOS Jonathan´s level, like letting yourself get killed by a tornado because you don´t want your son to expose himself is extreme though somewhat understandable) to let him go, though she eventually gets on board and creates his trunks.
This dicotomy is reflected on Clark´s abilities.
Flight is one of his most characteristic abilities and it often serves as a metaphor for Clark feeling free and accepted, it comes in moments where Clark learns to love and accept himself.
So it is interesting to see how in MAWS it is one of the first he obtains while in MOS it is one of the last ones. Showing the difference in how their settings and enviroments reacted to them.
MAWS is honestly amazing and I am incredibly glad we got this adaptation of the Superman mythos. It is so unique and refreshing. I can´t wait for season 3.
Regardless of its flaws I genuinely love MOS and its depiction of the Kent family. Its different from what we are used to in comics and tv shows, but it offers a unique take on the Kents dealing with Clark´s powers. At the end the day Jonathan is just a father terrified someone will hurt his child and he won´t be able to protect him.
Anyways this ramble has lasted enough, love both pieces of media to bits.

About the Hae/Shan dicotomy... personally I love how MC can be torn between two worlds, and two groups of people. Even if about all the Shans that MC knew are dead, but they were their family and the ones who loved MC sincerely, while the Hae people, kidnapped, meanstreate and hate MC but the Emperor also saved them. Plus they lived the same amount of time in both territories. At the moment for my MC there isn't much struggle, because they can't/want betray the Emperor/Empress and they believe/want to believe, that their highness wants peace. But when the other two ROs will appear, or there will be war...things will became tricky...I hope there will be the possibility to tell the Emperor/Empress that the MC won't betray them/will always protect them (and the samjogo), but they can't betray their people either...some advisor was definitely right about split loyalties...🤣
advisor kwok didn't achieve his position at such a young age just by being pretty 💅

The way I was staying away from the succession stuff, mainly bc it tends to bog down a story and I wanted the focus on aemyrah’s relationship. It’s the main reason why I set it in this universe where Aegon is king… but ooouuu the unraveling of the great council (of 129) is giving me that buzz tbh

I was thinking about why I ship Nebumibu as much as I do.
I like the contrast, I like the dicotomy of it.
I like Reo (ethereal, princess-like Reo) just in love with this enormous gorilla-like monster of a boy. I love the idea of Nebuya being out of his goddamn mind for his Reo, of him writing poems and buying flowers and dressing up for his ballet recitals.
I love Mibuchi just buying meat and protein bars and doing yoga while Eikichi is training next to him.
I just love them so much

Hi Hala! So, I know your opinion on matty not speaking up about Palestine but I was here thinking about it, follow my train of thought.
Considering everything he ver spoke, we know where he stands on this issue, right? So It's not that we want to know his opinion on this. We want him to speak because of the "signing towards utopia" thing.
But then we get to something he has already talked about his tweet about George Floyd, that is the dicotomy between long and short term expression (I don't remember the exact words). But he said he thinks It's better to speak through his songs, cause he actually work oh the lyrics, think deeply about the issue and can articulate his thoughts in a better way than in a tweet.
In fact, that was what happend when the whole bomb thing on People mv happend.
That being said, I don't know why but I think It's possible that he addresses this issue on a song for the next album.
Now, I don't agree with you on this matter for reasons that I don't think are important, but I wonder: if he really talks about it in a song, do you think It would be enough or anything he does from now on is already overdue?
Hey anon!
You can hear the gist of my take on the matter over here. It hasn’t changed recently. I suspect it won’t ever change. Barring some like exceptional circumstances.
I’ll address some of the points that you make here and iterate what I say above.
1. There is a difference between speaking out about every bill that is ever proposed to be made into law ever, and speaking out against genocide. Do you understand me?
Let me put it this way: let’s say Utah introduces a bill to ban even more books that show queer love stories. Or Alabama starts a debate about the age of consent. Or a school board in South Dakota has an initiative about critical race theory. I do NOT expect Matty to get onstage every single time that any of this happens and start yelling about it. He said something very poignant in the ION PACK pod. He said that artists used to be bohemian outsiders. Now everyone expects them to be liberal academics. And he’s just not the liberal academic type. I AGREE WITH HIM. TREMENDOUSLY. I don’t want him out there as a political pundit. I think punditry is one of the dumbest most self-absorbed jobs lmao.
HOWEVER genocide and ethnic cleansing is VERY different. It is a humanitarian crisis. One that demands all of us be accountable. Literal bloodlines have been wiped from the earth. The Palestinian ministry of health has had to delete family lineages from their database because Israel has killed them all. Like there is not a single person remotely related to them who’s been left alive. The family name is gone forever. Children are being starved. Tortured. Literal kids.
In my opinion, it’s not a valid argument to say that because he’s pro BLM then he’s obviously pro Palestine. If you talk to liberals, if you watch the news, if you speak to majority white communities, you’ll see a curious phenomenon. The most progressive of folks suddenly turns into a bloodthirsty animal horny for the destruction of Palestinians. This is due to 75+ years of propaganda by Zionists. Even the “good guys” are against Palestine because they genuinely believe we have to destroy Palestinians for the safety of everyone else (especially Jewish folks). Being pro-Palestine has gotten people fired from their jobs, black listed in hollywood, influencers have lost sponsorships, authors have been dropped by their publishers. This wouldn’t happen to anyone who says Black Lives Matter.
Moreover, regular methods of advocacy are not working for the same reasons. Biden and Congress folks are staunchly pro Israel. It’s the same in the UK, France, Germany. you’ve seen what has been happening to student protestors. Suspensions, expulsions, jail, physical injury.
If, at times like these, people who are of immense privilege, who claim to be brought up on punk values, who “make standing up for human rights as part of my schtick” are not only SILENT but say “really? You wanna hear me and Brittany broski on Israel-Palestine?” “I’m just a singer.” Then tell me what’s left?
2. How is saying “he spoke up once about one political issue years ago shouldn’t that be enough.” Any different from saying “Taylor swift spoke up about queer rights once when she was trying to sell an album. Therefore she’s a queer advocate”?
3. I can’t speak about the song hypothetical. In other words, I would have to see the song. My reaction would be different based on if it’s one line or a whole song and what the context and message etc. but I will say that he has already used Gaza in the show. The barrage of news stuff that plays before POTB. Where he has the clip of the lady saying “the woke left are angry with my favorite artist even though he’s on their side let’s talk about it” or whatever the fuck.
4. The right time to speak out was October 8. The second best time is now. Every day that goes by where he’s silent, more and more blood is shed. And it’s on his hands and his consciousness whether he wants to admit it or not.
5. Finally, I’m sorry, but it’s a tad disingenuous and bad faith of you to say you “disagree for reasons that aren’t important.” If you’re going to scrutinizes me for my words you should be willing to lay yours out first.

I love the dicotomy of seeing Aabria's face as a player, cause she knows what Ludinus' notes mean and entail (and of course, the mentions to Laerryn); and at the same time, knowing that all of that is stuff that Deanna has no idea what it means or how important it is

What are some of your favorite hcs from your fic? I thought yhe subcultue things are interesting -🌵
Everything. Like legit just everything is my favorite hc.
I have thought about for... So long... It was insane.
One thing though, I suppose it's a sneak peak, is like the autism joke, that's something that I loved writing. It's there in the first chapter and it will appear again if I manage to write anymore but there's, like, a whole story behind it and shit.
Also, it has my good ol' Kaeya intrusive thoughts agenda lmao, which is one of my favorite HCS in general.
Unfortunately couldn't find a modern au justification for the curse though (apart from Celestia poisoning the water supply which is... Very much a warcrime and reallyyyy bad and I didn't feel comfortable writing) so I didn't manage to include chronically ill Kaeya. Also did not hit when I started writing and I'd have to radically change parts of the story and shitso that's in my pockets for now.
The subculture thing was cool and I loved writing it because it's interesting to me to imagine how fashion would be in specific counties. Also helped me with the whole dicotomy thing Kaeya has in his design, (haven't mentioned it yet but it's a thing!!!) since that way he can dress in part in a fashion style i don't think (?) I've introduced yet (it's called fae style and shit, Khaenri'ahn subculture popular among the middle class and very common in bastard children and adoptees) and the religious trauma fashion style in Mondstadt (so he's still got both in his design aspect)
I could go for hours... Like seriously I could...

Rhyme by Joan Logghe
When blood was pounding in my head and all our friends unmarrying, you and I flew here and there, yet kept the fire from wandering. So far we've kept the faithful part and now the death until us part. Our vows were scant, our vows weren't said our marriage vows came from your head. Our marriage vows came from my fear and rhyming you with me, my dear. My deer, my dear, my dream, my life. I've finally become your wife. I've chosen you as you chose me. Not heavily or lightly. Not permanently, not gracefully. But clumsily and stumbling in, we ended up the next of kin. The rest is hope this moment lies, forever inside your eyes. You've done for me I've done for you. Now faithfully, one becomes two. And two becomes both one and three, we are the truth's dicotomy. We married barely slapped from youth. Now twenty three years in, fidelity has been my sin. Husband, we have learned long love. It's from below as from above.
