hello fellow ape-heads today i bring you a humble offering of all the episodes of the short-lived 1974 planet of the apes tv show all on a google drive for free :)
the series is about two astronauts, peter and alan, who accidentally travel forward in time to the 3080s (about 900ish years before the first movie) and befriend a friendly ape named galen (played by roddy mcdowall). the episodes follow the three of them as they travel across future california, running from the gorilla cop urko as he chases them down for upsetting the natural order of ape society.
all these episodes are already up on archive.org but i don't know about anyone else but that website is sooo slow for me so i just went and downloaded all the episodes. but then my laptop didn't have enough space so i moved them to a hard drive and it got tedious for me to reconnect it every time i wanted to rewatch an episode, so i just thought for ease of access i'd upload them to a google drive, and i figured other people would probably be interested in watching so here you go!!
i first heard about this show because the youtube channel ape nation is currently going through each of the episodes so if you want you can watch along with his weekly reviews!
i absolutely love this show so much and i never see anyone talk about it on here so hopefully this means people can watch it and i won't be alone in my appreciation for it anymore 😭😭
so go forth and enjoy the glory of the 1974 pota tv show!!

fionna's world being represented by a dandelion makes so much sense ... they're weeds. yet people make wishes through them, changing their whole meaning from something meant to be destroyed to something hopeful.
dandelions are also resilient and it makes sense that something associated with them would. you know. perservere despite the destruction caused by the scarab.
but ultimately i think what REALLY made me tear up over this is that dandelions are really boring plants. when you're a kid you blow on them and make your wish but they're not eyecatching or anything but still, fionna's final wish was for her old world to still exist as it was when she left it (> plain and simple. boring even).
like the moment she realized she would lose her friends, and that her friends might forget each other if the world got its magic back, she immediately decided she didn't want it and I think that ties back to the dandelion metaphor so well... like, do you really need magic to be real to find it everywhere? or can you turn something boring into something magical?

Remember when Archie had like an entire story based around pitching different characters against each other in a fighting tournament and we could see all of these dynamics and interactions and compare power levels and it also gave us this image:

Me again. Another Chaggie ask. Something that other Chaggie fans have pointed out - Charlie doesn't always listen to Vaggie and Vaggie doesn't actually talk about her issues with Charlie. The princess wants to comfort the fallen Angel like the latter has always done for her but Vaggie doesn't allow it. Thoughts?
hi again!! :] i think this is such an apt observation. they have the kind of communication issues that are genuinely really difficult to avoid when both parties think they're speaking the same language -- charlie has a problem with steamrolling over people when she's trying to help them, and vaggie has a problem with her inability to burden charlie with anything, even and especially her own negative feelings. so we get situations like episode 3, where charlie thinks she's helping vaggie by inviting her to take the lead, entrusting her with an arena where she has personal experience, and not being overbearing by hovering or intervening every time vaggie hesitates. meanwhile, what vaggie is actually feeling is overwhelmed, terrified of failing, and convinced that her continued usefulness to charlie is contingent on her unmitigated success here, which we know it isn't.
but it's why they fail to communicate on the rooftop, because vaggie's expression of worthlessness comes out of left field for charlie, who fails to understand where it's coming from and why it's relevant to what she sees as a fairly simple issue of just trying a different method. charlie doesn't care about failure from the people around her, she doesn't even register it (her faith in second chances really shines here), but vaggie is hyperaware of it. so charlie tries to offer her usual all-encompassing grace, but it can't penetrate through vaggie's self-hating affirmation that what she does only matters if it's materially useful to charlie.
which, to be clear, isn't a belief that charlie is responsible for -- it stems from vaggie's exile from heaven -- though she unintentionally exacerbates it on occasion, because her good intentions are frequently based on a misunderstanding of the root cause of others' issues. a misunderstanding that vaggie takes no steps to fix, because at this stage she can't even fathom coming clean about her past. it's sad because they're both trying very hard to show one another how fiercely they love the other, they're just doing it in ways that continually fly over each other's heads.

was rewatching the pilot again yesterday for fic reasons and thinking again about the sherlock-style screen annotations they had when barry was doing CSI work that they literally only did in the first ep and then never revisited again, presumably because they realized it'd be far too much effort to work out the details on such a precise level
and thinking about like. that barry allen with the hyper-precise exact measurements that he did by eye (with joe shaking his head in awe so you know that he's a CSI supergenius) vs. the leonard snart who timed his heists to the exact nanosecond (which again, presuming they ditched because it's a logistical nightmare to write dialogue that nitpicky and obsessive, and would be such a fucking pain to do on a week-to-week basis). like. yet another reason they are soulmates tbh. is audhd4autistic a thing the same way t4t is a thing? if it isn't then i'm making it a thing
