I have acquired the books~! …yeah I’m having a normal one rn
#just pav things#I thought I was going to get one (1) blorbo but I got two and the one I love best isn’t the one that hooked me on the series 😂#tbh this isn’t even surprising considering there are 3 head children who fight to be my most beloved on a day-to-day basis#and there’s one that reigns supreme some days even if they aren’t a protagonist :3#Ah noragami is great it really spurs intellectual thoughts#I like thinking of Yukine. And I like thinking of Yukine and Inigo together#How the relationship between Yato and Yukine differs from Dism + Archie and Inigo. And the ways they are the same#Why Yukine can deflect and take the name Hagusa (who’s meaning also gives me thoughts and feelings)#And how my own hand-crafted blorbo could never do such a thing at all#And the ways circumstance comes into play. Stubborn loyalty and recklessness. Obligation (and lack thereof)#Their designs too. Inigo’s got a body harness sutured up to his neck but Yukine dresses softly and warmly#Which btw I headcanon yuki does that because of the way he died#He always feels a bit of a chill y’know. Being stuffed in a refrigerator and all. Perpetually cold soul :(#But circling to the point how their clothes change over time. How minty’s clothes come to resemble his store-bought half by the end of YHNN#It fulfills me so much 🥺💖 God the manga is going to kill me

so I haven't touched arknights in like. about a year or so, but it sounds like Crownslayer is a gravel style opp? Which. idk back when I was playing Gravel was still an incredible unit for her ability to be dropped and just stall someone for a bit. and crownslayer having stun and evasion, as well as being able to provide evasion to other units, sounds like a similar style of insane??? idk why people are saying she's bad she sounds bonkers
(tho I might be wrong, like I said I've not touched the game since like Il Sira)
the problem is that people have developed a completely warped idea of what an executor specialist is supposed to look like because texas and yato are not actually good representatives of the subclass.
the game started with gravel and projekt red, and waai fu was added early in year 1. gravel is built to facetank damage with her massive shield and to this day she remains undefeated in that role. red meanwhile is more damage oriented, meant to chip away at medium-threat targets with her s1 or do a bit of crowd control with her s2. waai fu follows this philosophy of having some defensive utility on her s1 (an atk debuff) to let her 1v1 medium-damage priority targets and crowd control utility on s2 (inflicting silence). their damage was never crazy high, their use was in crowd control including plugging leaks, reducing incoming damage through methods like debuffs or just baiting attacks, and taking out priority targets like elite casters or guerilla heralds at a lower cost than throwing a whole dreadnought guard at it.
then phantom released around the first anniversary as the first 6* of the archetype and his skills cover every job that you would previously need separate specialists for. his s1 tanks physical damage, his s2 lets him quickly handle medium-threat targets, and his s3 has crowd control in a large area. phantom on release was genuinely the pinnacle of fast-redeploy specialists because he was all of the other fast-redeploys in one, and you could deploy him twice to boot. despite this he still left reason to use the others instead of him if you really needed a specific bit of utility, and gravel in particular made it so his s1 was rarely actually used because she was just better at it. I consider this a good thing from a game design perspective, but I also believe this created this idea that phantom is (was) the best executor because he has more damage than the other executors, instead of because he's 2-4 utility units in a trenchcoat. phantom is an executor that is two executors.
in year 2 kafka released and she stuck with this idea of chipping away at enemies and doing funny crowd control with her weird range and sleep debuff. in philosophy she's still exactly what executors were originally supposed to be, bringing a new angle to the concept that doesn't clash with what the others were doing. kafka is an executor that is an executor.
skip forward to year 4 and we get texas, who despite everything still retains the shadow of the original spirit of the subclass. she has silence utility, she has the ability to pick off targets, she has crowd control. but it's year 4 and she's a limited operator, so she also deals more damage than all previous executors combined could ever dream of and also hits air with her stuns because we introduced an enemy gimmick where you want anti-air stuns since we last made an executor. her s2 does more single target dps than surtr s3 or so i've been told. texas is really more like a high damage guard cosplaying as an executor.
then only half a year after texas they bring in yato who just straight up does not even have utility, all she does is infinite fucking damage and her crowd control is killing the crowd dead. she's not an executor in the original sense, she's some other thing, like how mountain is a brawler that is not a brawler. but because she and texas released so closely together and both do so much damage, people now think that an executor's job is to deal a lot of damage and that the utility on texas is a bonus instead of part of the original conceit.
and it's this warped idea of executors that crownslayer is being compared to. crownslayer is doing exactly what executors have been doing from the start, namely taking out medium-threat priority targets, reducing incoming damage, and providing crowd-control utility. she's an executor that is an executor, same as phantom, but where phantom combined the at the time existing executors into his kit crownslayer instead looks at the functionality that executors are meant to provide and approaches it from a different angle. obviously I haven't actually used her myself because she just released on CN but on paper she looks incredibly well designed for her job of being an executor

What are your favorite fan designs of Jekyll and Hyde?
[My personal favorites are from @victorianandthespian (Their Hyde is so alluring and Jekyll’s freckles are too pretty!!), @1nd1gnant (Their Jekyll is a pathetic wet can of a man and I love him and Hyde is absolutely terrifying!!!), @dradelcra (Jekyll’s super long braid is beautiful!!), @scarperseus (Their Hyde is so creature! I don’t think they ever designed a Jekyll though.), @lightning-cat (Their Hyde almost looks like a wolfman!), and S.K. Michels on YouTube (Jekyll is so, so pretty!! I love how despite Hyde, having no physical differences, he still manages to feel completely different through facial expressions and body language)!!!]
oh, that’s such a good quetsion !! (thank you for sharing yours, i will be checking all of those out !!)
i love s. k. michels too, their animatics are incredible and as you said, they manage to capture the difference. between the two so subtly
i just stumbled upon it now, but i really like @prettyinaccurate’s design (see here). i really like the differences in how they dress, and hyde being ginger works really well
@jayizowo also has a really great design for them both (see here) - i love the almost corpse-like nature of hyde, and i’m obsessed with any design that gives jekyll dumb little glasses
i love the way @shadow-yato used red for jekyll and green for hyde, his jekyll alone looks slightly devious (which, he absolutely is) and i just really love hyde’s hair (see here)
@aanthonyvb has some jekyll art that i am absolutely obsessed with (see here and here), they just capture his vibe? his essence? so so well. and their hyde design is so striking, in the best possible way (see here) (also look at their jekyll/emma art)
there’s absolutely a whole bunch more but i just woke up and i can’t think properly, but these are some off the top of my head !!

what do you think the most stellar examples of arknights' vfx are?
Okay so there are a lot of examples, so I'm going to try to keep my description of each one short. Unsurprisingly, most of my favorite effects are on more recent, paid skins for fan-favorite/meta 6* operators, since those are the ones they put their whole ass into.
Executor the Ex Foedere. The way that it weaves blasts of light and the shapes of Sankta wings into his shotgun blasts is absurdly creative. Perfect for a saint of Laterano.
Passenger's Skin. Specifically his S3. Stellar lightning is a weird pitch, but it's so fucking beautiful that it works. This is the effect that convinced me that I might enjoy being a VFX artist after all, not fucking kidding.
Jessica Alter. Look. Her skills are underwhelming as fuck, they're all the same shot effects every time. But. Do you genuinely understand how amazing these gunshots look? Do you know how hard it is to make a stylized gunshot that doesn't just look like magic? These are breathtakingly good. The glass shattering on hit genuinely made my jaw drop when I first saw it.
Eyjafjalla the Hvit Aska. It's hard to make a healer that genuinely looks unique, but Eyjalter's dreamlike colors and flat effects manage to bring the visual style of So Long Adele into every map and make it look reasonable with the artstyle.
Kirin R Yato. Monster Hunter's effects are extremely distinct, and seeing them recreate MH's style in Arknights' is really lovely. My one sorrow is that I wish there was more lightning, since like. Kirin.
Lin. Glass is a legitamately hard thing to pull off because it so often just looks like crystal, but leaning more into glass dust and shards makes it work perfectly. Her skin is also quite pretty, but it loses the glass look that made me love Lin to begin with.
Reed the Flame Shadow. Holy fucking shit holy fucking shit holy fucking shit holy fucking shit fire made of flowers?? The way the fire looks secondary to the whole thing while being undeniably present is stunning. Her skin is nowhere near as good tho.
Penance. Penance has such a stunning aesthetic that it immediately endeared me to her. Her vibe of gilded thorny chains carries to her effects and it works.
Texas the Omertosa. Fucking. Duh. It's hard to make a normal sword swipe look unqiue but Texas nails it. Her skin's effects are even more stunning, even if the animations are awful.
Minimalist. It's hard to make effects that are minimalist and still look good.
Specter the Unchained + Skin. I need to specificially call out her skin. Her skin may be one of my favorite pieces of effects at all time. The colors, the aegirian poetry as part of the visuals, the stellar water, it's all practically perfect.
Kazemaru. A sleeper hit!! She's got a lot going on with the "paper-controlling ninja whose clone has a completely unique aesthetic" thing so it seems like she might be too busy, but it manages to pull it off. Shoutouts to her clone's spawn, which actually does the slash mesh slightly wrong intentionally because the ring look actually helps a lot.
Goldenglow. It's rare that I see a lightning character and say "I have never seen anything like that before in my life" and Goldenglow's pink and blue stylized lightning genuinely shocked me.
Ling (Does it Wash The Strings). If you want my choice for best VFX in the game, this would at least be in running for first. It's flashy as hell, but manages to not be overbearing. The S3 dragon attacking with mountains rising from the earth alone is stunning, but the normal attack impact is my favorite part of the entire thing. It's so simple and elegant and stylish.
Amiya Guard. Amiya's Guard form is the combination of Amiya's Arts, Sarkaz Arts, Ch'en's swordfighting, the normal AK Arts and sword design languages, and a tiny bit of weird space tech to represent the Precursors. And it manages to come together to something that feels really cohesive while still drawing attention to how incongruous these elements are. The effects actively tell the story of Amiya - a girl with big shoes to fill, carrying the legacy of so many.
Ceobe, and her Unfettered Freedom skin. At this point in Arknights' lifespan, they had a much more defined visual language for how Casters look compared to melee units. Ceobe, being a Caster who throws fucking enchanted melee weapons instead of casting spells? So she combines their languages, with the buildup and trails of Arts casters and impacts of melee units, it's subtle and I love it. Unfettered Freedom deserves a special shoutout because I love geometric magic so fucking much.
Conviction's Skin. Why is this so good they're a joke operator.
Dorothy's Skin. I may have mixed opinions on this skin, but the effects are objectively stunning. I am personally heartbroken that she doesn't have the sand anymore, but that's a personal thing. I also don't like that her S3's range is obfuscated by the explosion but again that's nitpicking.
There's probably WAY more that I've missed and even more I cut for time, but those are my favorites after browsing the list of operators and skins for like, two hours straight. If there are a few I missed... Look, this list is this long already.
Also note that I didn't really list enemies or anything other than playable operators. Their enemy effects are usually... servicable, with a few standout exceptions with Talulah and Frostnova.

Noragami TG AU
Since I'm on my TG fixation and possibly reawakening my Noragami fixation, let's mash em together for maximum happy chemicals.
I know I want full-ghoul Nora, specifically a Deep 24th-Ward denizen, not only for character reasons - outwardly ruthless murder-child with a very different conception of right and wrong, and a very particular lack of knowledge about human society. But. Also for aesthetic reasons - "prefers traditional clothing" to an anachronistic degree, sunless paleness, makeup style that is distinct as a culturally ghoul aesthetic, to go with Nora's visual sense of otherness in her character design. Even the scale pattern/texture of her ayakashi form in canon would go so well as the visually distinctive look that Deep 24th Ward denizens have to their kagunes, with its white scales that have black eye-like spots in the middle.
I'm not sure if I want Yato or Yukine (or maybe even Father) as a natural one-eye, BUT I do know who's getting their life shaken upside-down and thrown out the window after being hit with the Experimental Malpractice stick...
Hiyori.
Now, the real scary, give-her-trauma question is who's going to be the doctor. After all, Hiyori's family are doctors.... OH. Oh for extra pain, instead of Dr. Mal Practice being cold or malicious like TG's Kanou, it's done out of great and terrible, desperate parental love.
Hiyori's parents try to save her life by implanting a kakuhou, and now have to deal with what that does to their daughter. Meanwhile Hiyori has to wrestle with her parents doing a dangerous permanent, drastically life-changing surgery on her that she was too injured to give consent for - one that changes her life in really fucked-up ways, at that, and makes her have essentially non-person status in society.

Morine {Noragami}
Character presentation
[Warning ! Noragami’s spoilers !]
General
Capacity : Ki
Name : Mori
Usual Name : Morine
Age : 14 years old
Gender : Female
Status : Dead (ghost/shinki)
Transformation : Push Dagger
Physical Appearance
Morine's straight chestnut hair falls to her shoulder blades. She often wears it up in a bun, but a rebellious lock wanders over to the right side of her forehead. Her green eyes are reminiscent of the color of the forest, which she lightly makes up with mascara. Her skin is dotted with moles. She wears two under her right eye and a string of them all over her body. On her upper left thigh is the shinki mark, the kanji of her name written in red : 森. Morine is taller than girls her age and more muscular. Her arm muscles are also quite well defined, which is a source of complex for her.
Morine's style of dress is quite feminine. She often wears dresses, skirts and elaborate tops. But there's one rule she never seems to break : she never shows her arms or shoulders. She often hides them under layers of clothing, even if it means being too hot. She often wears nail polish to match her mood of the day. It's a way of expressing the emotions she can't bring out constructively.
Personality
Morine is a young girl whose biggest screw is lying. She doesn't have much self-confidence and will do anything to make people like her. I don't know if I should say more about her yet.
Relationships
Yato : Yato and Morine's relationship is off to a bad start. The former god of disaster refused to take her on as a shinki for a while. But he finally agreed to take her under his wing under conditions, in discussion with Hiyori. In time, their relationship will improve, because after all, Yato's not a bad guy.
Hiyori : Hiyori was the first person to take her under her wing when she was lost in the woods in spectral form. They also get together around a shared passion : combat sports. A great way to bond !
Yukine : While time is on Morine's side with Yato, it's just the opposite with Yukine. He seemed to like her when she came to live with them, only to find his trust shattered after an argument broke out between them.
Kofuku : They have a bit of a sisters relationship. Kofuku likes to dress Morine up or put nail polish on her. They get along great ! Morine got her purple skirt from her. She gave it to her when she saw her leering at it. It's a gift that means a lot to Morine.
Daikoku : Daikoku has the soul of a father. He loves children and it's not surprising to say that he acts with Morine like a father or uncle, as he might with Yukine.
Story
Her past is an enigma, her future a mystery, and you'll have to be patient to find out !
Other things
Here I'm going to talk a bit about what's going to happen to this account and my future posts !
Well hello already, I'm glad to meet you ! I'm Much ! I'm writing this first post on Tumblr to introduce you to a character of my creation and more than that, a project close to my heart. I hope you enjoy it !
You'll no doubt have noticed that a good deal of information is missing. I either fly over them or skip them. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal. Indeed, through this blog, I'd like to draw your attention to what's coming next. This presentation is an introduction, an attempt to intrigue you a little.
Lately, I've been remodeling an Oc that I created when I was a 15-year-old baby. With my MATURE ADULT eyes, I now realize that everything has to be redone ! I've taken over her design, her story, her name... I'm not quite finished bulding the structure of the story, but I know where I want to go.
So I've decided to post what I write about it here ! For the moment, I've drawn the first chapter entirely in the form of manga boards. I tried to reproduce Adachitoka's style for fun. And although it was a lot of fun, I don't think I'll have the time in the future to draw the whole story I want to tell. So I'm thinking of publishing some blogs mixing illustrations and writing.
I plan to post the boards of the first chapter in a while. I hope you’ll like it ! If not... I don't care !
I wish you a good day, a good night and a beautiful life ! See you soon !

I promise I'll get back to drawing canon characters soon. But woo- took me three days to finish. But my boi Kaiba is complete! This is probably the most cluttered ref I've ever made haha.
Potential Rakuyou arc spoilers ahead so be warned:
Originally he was inspired by a post where someone mentioned the artist phenomenon of a canon character basically turning into their OC after awhile.
And it all started with well, I love Kamui. And I love his first official appearance with the bandages obscuring his face - maybe I could work with that. But then I shoved so many of my AU things and other ideas I enjoy into this character that he's mutated so much that he barely has any trace of Kamui left in his character. Definitely not story wise, nor personally, maybe a few elements design wise still along with the fact of being a Yato. Kaiba actually ended up being much more like Kouka story wise than I intended though (*cough* probably because Kaiba was mainly based on my AU of Kamui being the sole Altana mutant on Kouan instead of Kouka *cough*) but eh, I'll live with that.
Despite being a yato and Altana mutant...I may have taken a few creative liberties design wise. But I have my excuses! One thing is, I absolutely love Yato- but wish they had a few more I guess inhuman traits. Like please give them larger canine teeth and reflective pupils please🙏🥺. I thought the reflective pupils for Yato would be really cool, or funny, if Kagura had em too. So I tossed those traits into there. And I know Yato are supposed to be fair skinned- but I had an idea! Since Yato seem to be able to build up a slight tolerance to sunlight, like with Kagura being able to be out in broad daylight, while Housen who hasn't been exposed in a long time immediately started dying. I figured what if during Yato disopra, one of the groups of survivors who had fled Kouan ended up on this sunny desert dwarf planet... probably not by choice. Though there, the survivors perhaps started to build up a higher tolerance to the sunlight. But yet they're still not immune to it. And could have been the downfall of the few generations that had managed to survive for long enough. Kaiba was from this specific clan of Yato that had settled on the dwarf planet. With a slightly higher tolerance to sunlight than the typical Yato, and with the combo of being an altana mutant. Kaiba was free to enjoy the sunlight for much longer before feeling the effects of it, allowing him to gain more of his tanned complexion. Also just shares the same reptile brain as me, with the desire to just lay out in the sun on warm rocks. Though if he's an altana mutant, how come he has a scar? That should just heal right? ... Well, I have absolutely no excuse for that for now! I just wanted to reuse a scar design from one of my older characters because I thought it'd look nice on Kaiba 👉👈.
Now to get a little more into his story and such. It starts off similarly to Kouka's. As again Kaiba is the last member of his clan surviving alone on his birth planet due to him being a mutant. The forgotten dwarf planet, which I've named Ardoros, is covered in reddish orange sands, stone, and a whole bunch of space junk wich collects on its surface. With so much metal and scrap around, Kaiba developed a skill in metal working. And even managed to find a junked ship one day. This was obviously very exciting as he managed to get it to function- just barely. With many days having spent wandering Ardoros previously, he had already discovered one of its altana crystals. Albeit small, he fashioned it into an earring to serve as a battery in a way before he finally left. But being the absolute hunk of junk it was, Kaiba's ship broke down when he managed to land on another planet. And with no money or anything to fix it, he's began relying on hitchhiking. Traveling all over the universe with the aid of strangers. This got to go on for years, exploring new planets, trying new food etc- he absolutely loved it. But, the crystal he wears is almost depleted along with his own altana energy. He continues to hitchhike, yes. But now determined to find his way back to Ardoros before it's too late. Thing is - he's never been skilled at navigating, always leaving that up to whoever he was traveling with. He has also encountered no one else who's even heard of Adoros, no one else knows it's location either. And currently his latest stop during his attempts to get home, is on earth.

don’t get me wrong i agree with dont like don’t read, but saying that phrase over and over again kinda ignores the larger nuances of fanfic on the internet. my main point is that a lot of people are not really aware of the spaces and fandoms that they’re occupying, and then forget fandom etiquette. my biggest examples would probably have to be the mha fandom and especially the brony fandom.
bronies, i’ll admit are a completely different ballpark, since adult men (who were totally allowed to enjoy and be in mlp fandom) entered the space and completely ignored that they were not the target audience. idgaf that they made porn/gore/wtv tf of mlp but i care that they were in every single mlp space. you could not google mlp in its heyday and avoid it (though that also goes on the fault of the way that the internet was structured [which is a very important thing that “don’t like, don’t read” doesn’t take into account] since the internet mashes everything together). it was really fucking bad if you were the target audience, a little kid!
the mha fandom is deffo much tamer, but that doesn’t mean that it’s without problems either. again, i cannot stop you from making whatever you want to make but keep in mind what fandom you’re in and what space you are. i do not think i have to explain why yagami yato having “spicy” audios of mha characters easily accessible on youtube of all platforms is a bad thing actually.
it’s not anyone’s particular fault for the way the internet is structured, but like, be aware that you may actually be in the niche in a fandom, and that you may not be target audience, which is fine!!! but just be aware of that. you might remember that an nsfw sophia the first page on twitter reposted (they didn’t actually make it) the infamous ‘i do not like minors coming up to me in my adult space to call me a pedo for making adult content” comic. can you see the irony? you are in a fandom where the media is for actual toddlers, making nsfw content of that media, and fucking gobsmacked that a kid saw it and didn’t like it. this is what im talking about.
idc that that person got their rocks off on sofia the first, or what anyone gets their rocks off on (as long as you are not breaking the law or knowingly harming another person), but again, self-awareness please!!
im a huge spiderverse fan and i would jump miguel’s bones faster than a lockheed sr-71 blackbird, but i am also aware of the fact that spiderverse is a kids movie, so i wouldn’t put that wtv nsfw content i made of it in places where kids could easily access it (like youtube!! or even tiktok). it’s not going to prevent all kids from seeing it, since that’s the way that the internet is sadly made, but at the very least do what you need to do??
tldr; there are a lot of nuances to online fanfic but “don’t like, don’t read” doesn’t account for. the internet is designed to mash everything similar together, and please be conscientious about the fandom spaces you’re in and what you do in those spaces (esp if the media for that fandom is for minors)
#themcel#giz rants#not very well made#since it’s hella late and it’s very complex and i feel like im not expressing it right#fandom discourse is gonna fucking kill me#no ‘dark fic’ doesn’t make you a bad person#no you are not exempt from criticism from the fandom at large#also can we have the NUANCE please!!!#giz talks#themcel posting

Hello friends! I made a post a looong time ago about how back when the Noragami anime aired (the first season), in 2014, we did not have Yukine’s backstory like we have now; despite that, the scene we got in the anime where Yato named Yukine and received all his memories, was all relevant. That really amazed me; I know mangaka and writers plan this stuff in advance, but certainly not all of them, and it would have been easy enough to retcon or change things (and there are some scenes here that indicated things may have been changed).
So in appreciation and curiosity, I went back and screencapped all the brief scenes the anime gave us, to compare them with the corresponding manga panel/chapter. However, a tumblr picture post only allows 10 pictures and I ended up with 13, so I’m gonna pick the most interesting ones.
Not included here is the very first scene, which is of a cat looking back at the camera. Yukine has not been shown to have a cat in his past life, nor was there any indication of a cat in his family (at least as far as I can remember) so I’m gonna go ahead and comfortably put this in the “symbolism” camp, as it could be a stray cat or anything you want to interpret it as, really.
The second scene, also not pictured, was of luggage. This clearly relates to his sister and mother moving out. Again, when this aired back in 2014, we would have had no idea what this luggage could have related to!
The third scene, pictured, is more curious- two hands shaking. I don’t think it’s too far of a stretch to guess that the extended hand is their father’s-- but who’s the one reaching out to him? Yuka? Could this be the dad making a deal with her about keeping Haruki? But that’s not what happened, right, it was the other way around...Could be that the hand is actually Haruki’s. Unsure. Could correspond to volume 23, chapter 91, pictured below the anime shot.
Scene 4, pictured, is CLEARLY Yuka and mother leaving, with Yuka looking back. BACK IN 2014. WHEN WE KNEW NONE OF THIS, NOR WHO THEY WERE, ETC ETC.
Scene 5, not pictured, is just a pair of shoes on the ground. This could be anything; not quite sure what the symbolism is meant to be here.
Scene 6, also not pictured, is just Yukine huddled by himself facing a wall. Could be anything also, but more likely just him enduring his dad’s abuse.
Scene 7, also not pictured, is a broken mug on the ground, liquid spilled out of it. Could be a sign of the father breaking stuff in his anger.
Scene 8, pictured, is the letters- the letters!!!! Again completely relevant and traceable to the manga! Specifically it’s the dad stepping on the letters, which does not have a direct equivalent manga panel, but the one I put under it is pretty damn close, from volume 25, chapter 96.
Scene 9, pictured, is most curious. This is an arm, likely Yukine’s, with bandages surrounding it. This was likely meant to tie in to the reason his sword form has bandages, but it was never expanded upon (and I doubt it will be in the last few chapters we have lol). I do wonder what the intent was, though-- maybe a mark of his abuse by his dad. We’ll never know!
Scene 10, pictured, is a lot of empty cans of alcohol. Clearly related to his alcoholic dad (though I guess it was never confirmed he was ALCOHOLIC for certain, but definitely a heavy drinker lol). Again not a 1-to-1 manga panel correspondence, but a pretty close one came from volume 24, chapter 94.2!
Scene 11, not pictured, is a wallet with some money strewn around. Probably to symbolize the financial situation of the dad, which was to say, not great lol
And scenes 12 and 13, pictured, are likely Yuka turning back to look at Yukine, presumably-- though I do wonder. Given the tie and suit, I wonder if this was meant to be YUKINE/Haruki when he was alive (it does kind of look like him, doesn’t it?), or if Yuka was originally intended to be Yukine’s BROTHER, or something else. Could totally be wrong, could just be an old design of Yuka! I do wonder though.
Anyway I love Noragami. It’s great. This was a silly thing I wanted to do, but it was fun to dig through the screenshots and pause every second haha. I know the fandom has mixed opinions on the anime, but it’s what introduced me to the manga, and I still do really love it. And Bones put a lot of love into it. I really hope we get a season 3 someday (and so does Kaji Yuki, according to his tweets lol). Thanks for reading!

I know the animanga community is going insane over Toji Fushiguro rn
But I am feral whenever Yato's dad shows up in the manga, like ADACHITOKA went OFFwith his design👀🥵

What if the sisters had their own sacred weapons?
You know, it always kind of bugged me that in Fire Emblem Fates, only the brothers of each faction got sacred weapons. I know that the Yato only has four notches to hold each weapon's power-up, but that honestly feels like a lazy excuse. Just give it four notches on each side of the blade, so you get one side filled up in Birthright, one side in Conquest, and both sides in Revelations.
So, with that in mind, I decided to make four new weapons for each side to use, and even wrote little bios for each of them.
Nohr
Siegfried (Sword) One of the eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Prince Xander. Siegfried commands the power of shadow, and is capable of launching beams of pure darkness upon its wielder's enemies.
Brynhildr (Tome) One of the eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Prince Leo. Brynhildr can conjure the power of the forest, robbing foes of their vitality and granting it instead to the wielder.
Skrymir (Axe) One of the eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Princess Camilla. Skrymir can shake the very earth, causing magma to erupt upon the wielder's foes.
Hildisvini (Staff) One of the eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Princess Elise. Hildisvini can summon a sacred mist that heals a group of allies and its wielder.
Hoshido
Raijinto (Katana) One of the eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Prince Ryoma. The Raijinto harnesses the power of storms and can call down bolts of lightning upon the wielder's foes.
Fujin Yumi (Yumi) One of the Eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Prince Takami. The Fujin Yumi is blessed by the power of gales, and can fire arrows of piercing wind at the wielder's enemies.
Omikaminata (Naginata) One of the Eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Princess Hinoki. The Omikaminata can unleash projectiles of sacred light when swung at its wielder's enemies.
Benten Scroll (Scroll) One of the Eight Prismatic Weapons created by the Rainbow Sage, wielded by Princess Sakura. The Benten Scroll channels the power of ink to strike the user's foes, dealing minor damage but significantly sapping their strength.
Vala
Yato A sacred sword crafted long ago by the Rainbow Sage, with the aid of Anankos. The Yato was designed to wield the might of primordial fire, but its power was drained long ago when it proved too devastating for mere mortals to handle. Only with the aid of the other Prismatic Weapons can its true glory be restored. Currently it is wielded by Prince/Princess Corrin.
Vanir Spear A sacred spear created long ago by Anankos, to be passed down by the Vallite Royal Family. The Vanir Spear draws upon the power of the Sacred Sea, from which it is said all life in this world once emerged... Presently, it is held by Princess Azura, who uses its power to shield herself from harm.
Additional Notes
Okay so you might have noticed some things while reading this. I'll be honest: I didn't initially plan to to start making lore changes or even alterations to characters' classes, but... Well, I started having ideas in the process of making this post, so allow to briefly explain some things.
I tweaked Brynhildr a bit so that it specifically uses plant magic. It always bugged me in the original how the tome just has a bunch of different elements/powers attached to it, including earth, gravity and "life." So yeah, I changed it to just plants since it only hits the enemies with trees in battle.
I was a little bit torn about what to do with Sakura, to be honest. I know she's more of a healer than a mage, so making her special weapon a scroll instead of a staff/rod might be a touch controversial. That said, I think giving her a scroll that debuffs enemies still fits her as a support unit. I based this one off of the Ink Painting Scroll, which already has ties to the Rainbow Sage anyway.
I thought it would be cool to give Azura her own special weapon, rather than just having her wield a Blessed Spear. It sort makes sense for her to have a Blessed Spear to oppose the Faceless, sure, but... I think a weapon that raises defense/evasion makes more sense for a Dancer Class. Just stick a blue gemstone in it and the Vanir Spear can replace her magic water pendant.
Anyways, maybe I'll do a follow-up post later on regarding some idea for potential plot changes to Fates. Until then, Stay Bright.

phantom's base redeployment time is 18 seconds (16 seconds at pot3). his attack interval is 0.93 seconds, so that's about 16 seconds of deployment where he's continuously attacking for him to have no redeployment time at all, not accounting for the clone's attacks having the same effect. his redeployment timer effectively starts ticking the moment he's deployed rather than the moment he's retreated, which was already the case for the clone. the clone's redeployment timer is 45 seconds at e1 and 35s at e2, but if the clone is out so is phantom. assuming my math is right then if they're double teaming an enemy it's about 8 seconds for phantom to have no redeployment time and for the clone it's 14 seconds at e1 and 11 at e2 (since its timer already starts ticking once it's deployed)
his s2 is 10 stacks at m3, so just letting him use all those stacks will reduce his redeployment time to a mere 6 seconds, and if the clone is also out attacking people then his redeployment time is already down to 0 before you even use all the stacks. if "every attack" includes hitting enemies with s3, dropping him on a crowd will also make his redeployment time pretty negligible and you can just keep having him throw out those binds/stuns/slows
since deploying the clone will reactivate his skill (and possibly allow him to gain more than 10 stacks of s2?) it's possible to have phantom stay on the field and attack trash to reduce his clone's redeployment timer and then still get his damage back whenever it's time to kill something more dangerous. it also means if you drop both him and the clone with s3 you get a total of three s3 hits, and again if enemies hit by s3 count for the redeployment time reduction that means both he and the clone are going to have effectively no redeployment time and the only limit is how fast you can print dp for him
it's really annoying that this is an IS exclusive module because phantom being able to be in two places at once and being the only executor who you can leave on the field without losing his damage buff (since it's stacks instead of seconds duration) are the only things he can do that texas and yato can't and this module heavily leans into that in a way that both looks like an actual sidegrade to texas and yato rather than strictly worse, because his thing is now that he may have less damage but you can throw him out way more often, and just looks incredibly fun to play with. like this is pretty much what he'd look like if he was designed as a new unit today instead of having existed for years. I guess since the base module effect is something phantom exclusive they did it this way because they couldn't figure out how to make a delta executor module that would save phantom without just putting the other two way ahead of him again anyway, but there's a very easy solution to that called just don't give the other two a delta module lmao
since it's IS exclusive anyway though the collectible synergy is pretty clear. aspd collectibles won't do nothing for his s2 anymore because it now means you can drop the clone more often to reactivate s2. you can do big spinach gaming with s3 or even s2 reactivations. he can use stun/bind damage and duration collectibles and reliably reapply those. he can use /shift strength/ collectibles and can now be dropped often enough for that to mean something. empty fowlbeast works on him because the clone is a summon. you could get fucking hilarious with sui's wrath lmao. I'm pretty excited to try this out once it hits global because he looks flexible and versatile enough now to be worth not using your hope on a beast like texas/yato/lee/gladiia/etc instead

Re about the FEH vs Cipher rant from the last day...
Back when Cipher was a thing, we could have gotten this fanart.
Sure it's only fanart and all, but this is, imo, better at "making the characters live between the games" than releasing a very sad'n'lonely about a goddess whose only wish is to bang you.
Silly and fun things were supposed to be the theme of seasonal banners, imagine if we got some sort of "trying to emulate heroes they look up to" lizard banner, with Y!Tiki using a sword, Myrrh trying to use a lance, Kana using a cardboard Yato, and, idk, Fa trying to use Igrene's bow (their sprites being something like Amelia's trainee sprites where she tumbles with her lance or something weird, like Billy's animations, maybe instead of stabbing with the lance, Myrrh throws it and it falls, dealing damage, on the opponent, something like that) -
Sure we would have the obnoxious fans rant about "characters getting alts" again, with extra salt from the A!Tiki stans - but just think of the fun and cute interactions in a multiverse...
Instead, we have "orientalism : the festival" banners, "bunnies for those who are horny!" banners, the "bridal harem!" banner and a bunch of non interesting stuff.
Tea-time last year might have been something nice - 1st gen Jugdral parents meeting their children and trying to make up for, well, not being there in the second gen - but it had to be Fodlan'd (with Mercedes suddenly forgetting she left Adrestia) because gods forbid we have no Fodlan unit on a banner or FEH devs miss on an occasion to remind the world Lysithea loves sweets.
(I wouldn't have meant a Ferdie backpack to, idk, Siggy or something, where he could say that those ceremonies are common in Fodlan, and an occasion to spend time with people you care about instead of saying those weird "let's have tea breaks while we're invading people because taking a break is more important than their lives i guess" nonsensical lines, that would, honestly, make any Jugdral character from this banner reduce him to 1 HP).
Anyways,
While Cipher had its share of lewd designs - it also showed more care and love the for characters of the franchise than FEH - or maybe the artists had more leeway in FE Cipher than in FEH, I mean, Daisuke Izuka draws awesome units in FEH, but on his X channel, he drew... Riev T-Posing, or his anniversary arts always feature badasses (Hardin vs Hardin, this year's league of super villains, Sharena's parents being in luf and dancing while smacking bandits right and left, etc etc).
Given what we get in anniversary artworks...
(yep, even Cleobulus and Cyril being a weird match up)
I'd more interested in having those ideas than another "but she is forced to do evil things by an evyl figure and is very sad and very lonely and just needs your luf" shit of a story.
#heroes rant#izuka's art is great#i know i've said FEH shows more care for some characters than their base game#ahem#sometimes they give the wrong kind of care#like Supreme Nightgown or her boobs'n'butt pose#but come on#a Bael got its own card!#Izuka got a badass one with Feral ones in the background!#for years Arvis and his randoms was on my lockscreen#I can't say the same for any FEH art#even if Arekus' Seiros is very close to be the best FEH art i've seen

Let's talk about Chapter 107- Part Deux (Ex Machina)
Man. Man.
Follow up post from this. Might as well keep this as a series because I guess verbal diarrhoea is a coping mechanism for me. Thoughts and predictions again. Spoilers below
So it appears that yes, Hiyori is 100% dead now since we saw her memories through Yato (broke my fucking heart btw) and we're going down the shinki route.
Yato didn't want to name her. He had no choice. He had just watched the love of his life be murdered right in front of him and was about to see her be transformed into his Father's monstrous puppet. Naming her there and then before Father got the chance to was the only way to save her. This is the most brutal fucking chapter in the entire series I swear to GOD. (Though I think most of us can agree that from the small glimpse of Hakki we have so far, she looks gorgeous. That sakura design.. 🥺)
But seriously I'm hoping and praying that Hiyori is somehow going to retain her memories and either bypass the GGS or be pretty much immune to it. Like I said before, she's a special case. Because she already had ties to the Far Shore and to multiple gods, she might get a sort of get out of jail free card here. Plus it would just interrupt the flow of the finale to a really weird extent if she lost all of her memories. It'd be too jarring and weird imo. Perhaps she initially has all of them but then over time her Near Shore memories will eventually fade away.
(Reiterating what I said in the previous post. I have no idea how this is going to affect other shinkis with her being around in regards to the GGS. Or even if her existence will be allowed by Amaterasu. It's not like Ammy can wipe everyone's memories of Hiyori to safeguard them. But hey)
Also the fact that his shinkis are literally Snow White? Lol.
Lets say she retains her memories. Will she still be called Hiyori or will she have to go by Shirone even if hearing her name won't break her? Maybe it'll be a closely guarded secret by her and Yato. Having her name on a part of her body that can't be seen (like over her heart for instance because thematics) means it's hidden from view from anyone else, therefore nobody can use that name against her (KAZUMA. 👀) An extra layer of protection for her. It'll be her and Yato's (and probably Yukine's too) secret.
Speaking of Yukine, I'm guessing he's going to be out of action for this final final fight. With Hiyori slicing the Koto No Ha in half like an absolute boss ass bitch, it's likely that The Nation will collapse and everyone will return to their regular forms. Yukine will probably be in a bad shape and unfit to fight let alone even transform into Sekki. Meaning it's going to be Yato and Hiyori Vs Father working together as one. The Deux Ex Machina has appeared and she is pissed.
(Literally though, first thing she does as a weapon is take a slice at Father and the brush. I didn't even realise she'd cut his fingers til the second read through. Looks like she might have even got his neck too? Dare I say...? Slay?)
So yeah. I'm hoping that because of her original ties to Yato and the Far Shore, her memories may not be lost. The two of them will team up to take down Father as possibly the most powerful shinki we've seen so far. Nobody has been able to make a dent in the Koto No Ha until now. Which is possibly why this is why the story is going this way. Yato has tried and failed to take down Father multiple times. He couldn't use Yukine for his final confrontation for obvious reasons so he went on a search to find a suitable and powerful enough shinki to take his place, and that ended up being Kazuma. Obviously didn't work out as intended though.
Funny how maybe the person he's needed to take down Father all along is Hiyori. Father might have ended up winning in the end but by killing her, he's essentially doomed himself.
#noragami spoilers#give me power of love bullshit I wanna see these two kick ass together in harmony#BE OK. LIVE. REMEMBER. KILL.#noragami

Using WHB as an excuse to talk about gaming (pt. 2)
With the character voicelines being revealed in WHB and Xeno Cocytus Crucible FA gaming/Arknights x MonHun event grinding in the background (I stopped at 2 FLB copies by the time Xeno Crucible ended), it's about time I talk about one of my favorite things when it comes to talking about games, that being character development through voicelines! Because these voicelines come a long way to actually describe how a character actually is, and it's often these little details that can make or break a game for me.
What do I mean with these tiny voicelines? It's those little cut-ins, those quotes characters throw out in battle. For me, a good quote is one that displays aspects of their personality without making it seem like those aspects are the sole part of their personality.
(More under the cut, along with a spoiler warning for the What Makes the Sky Blue trilogy from Granblue Fantasy, as well as both Integrated Strategies 2 and Guide Ahead from Arknights!)
WHB's in-battle quotes seem to really hammer in the fact that they're in a war and are out for the angels' blood. Which is completely fair - this is the main premise of the game, after all. But there are several standout lines for me personally, especially in the context of their brief character introductions.
First of all, Naberius. Cool, calm, and collected - demons aren't exactly keen on pissing him off because he can shapeshift into a cerberus in his rage. He himself isn't fond of getting angry and going on a rampage, which I feel is exemplified in his quote.
To me, this is an indication of the ability to keep his emotions on check, so that he won't rampage on the battlefield. It's a warning of sorts, a "You won't like me when I'm angry", spoken with an air of confidence and mastery of his own abilities. Not quite unhinged, he still has his wits on his head - that is, until you push him enough for him to fly into a rage.
Now, you want to know who's unhinged period? Dantalian.
I compared Dantalian to Executioner Specialists because that's really how I envision his fighting style - specifically Kirin R Yato's second skill. Get up close and personal, beat up a prime target while drawing attention to yourself, retreat and go into hiding while finding another opening. Dantalian offering his enemies to write on his skin actually plays well into his character design, with the writings on his skin, as well as him fighting up close and personal just to feel fear!
Also, important to note that it would seem like he's taunting the angels. Given what we know about him, I think it's more than likely he's pissing the angels off by implying that this is definitely his victory, not the angels'.
And on the other side of the coin, we have a relatively sane individual whose only priority is to defeat the angels - Leviathan!
My baby boy, despite his jealousy and agoraphobia, is still able and willing to fight for the sake of his people on the battlefield. Very task-focused, he also shows signs of protectiveness towards his fellow demons on the battlefield - perhaps, it shouldn't come as a surprise, considering the fact that he is a beloved king.
In fact, it would seem his mindset in battle is 'battle first, emotions later' - his battle quote comes off as very...detached, for lack of better words. No threats, no taunts, simply a promise to eliminate all hostiles.
For a less detached yet equally serious person, we turn to Marbas.
He is sharp and succinct in his delivery of treatment progress. Efficient as well, because you're in the battlefield, and injured people will keep on rolling in until the fighting is over.
Another way I like to see skill proc voicelines getting utilized is characterizations that may not necessarily reflect only their fighting styles. Some voiceline cases in Arknights may be similar to WHB, like Lumen - but the delivery by all of his voice actors makes it clear that our therapist fish man Jordi Fontanarossa simply isn't someone used to combat. He is, by his own admission, just an ordinary person - prone to anxiety, focused on his job as a healer. He brings a briefcase into the battlefield in his chibi sprite for crying out loud.
While Lumen's voiceline essentially has the same 'function' and setting as Marbas's voiceline, in the sense that they are stating the progress of their healing, Lumen's delivery is noticeably more frantic compared to Marbas's calmer delivery. Well...he is one of the few people who asks for some time to breathe upon being asked to lead a squad (placed on slot 1 in the squad formation screen).
Contrast this with the more battle-hardened but equally dedicated Executor, real name Federico Giallo, an executor from Laterano's Notarial Hall and literal angel with a shotgun. He is extremely dedicated to his job, and his reference to 'breaking the taboo' is one directed towards one of the Sankta's laws.
See, the angels of Arknights, the Sanktas, live under a set of rules universally known as the Law. One of these rules is the fact that they cannot aim their guns at fellow Sanktas, lest they become a Fallen. However, there are known exceptions, such as the climax of Guide Ahead with both Pope Yvangelista and Andoain shooting at each other, as well as executors like Executor/Federico being allowed to shoot and kill fellow Sankta if they are proven to be a danger. Hence, his mention of breaking the taboo.
As for fellow, non-Sankta Laterano citizens...we turn to Fiammetta, a Liberi and Mostima's keeper.
Fiammetta is often seen as a dry and serious woman who's tired of the shit her coworkers put her through (finballs spiked with peppers, the many codenames her superiors gave to her, wing stickers on her back, and more). She is driven by anger towards Andoain, not being able to forgive him for an incident in the past - the exact same incident that turned Mostima into a Fallen. She really only flies off the handle when facing him, all but telling him that even if the entirety of Laterano would forgive him, she would never do so. "I will sodomize and face-fuck you", anyone?
Yet she keeps her prickly attitude outside of facing Andoain, and it shows - the delivery of this line in particularly sells it. It's dry, matter-of-fact, and borderline sarcastic - she's not actually sorry for forgetting to hold the shot back. Her hot-headedness and emotionality really does show here, in spite of her relative calmer image. And honestly, I'd argue this is how she really is - I often get the impression that she really does care and worry about the Doctor, even though she insists that the things she does are due to contractual obligations. She just doesn't get easily flustered.
And what about someone who's at least a little bit unhinged yet attempts to keep themself sane? Then we turn our attention to Shalem.
Shalem is a man who defected and ran away from a mysterious theater troupe known as the Crimson Troupe - who are actually assassins in disguise. The things he experienced in the past, including the Crimson Troupe, was enough to break him, and his emotional stability at this current point in the timeline is...let's just say less than ideal. And what better way to reflect that in his absolutely unhinged laughter in one of his battle voicelines?
The Crimson Troupe is the main antagonist of the second instalment of Integrated Strategies, Phantom and the Crimson Solitaire. Here, he is the Operator you get by playing the game mode, and he is the one who decided to save Phantom - otherwise known as Lucian, the man who massacred several of the troupe members and is being brainwashed by the troupe in the events of the game mode. So, Shalem ends up taking on the mission to save Phantom from the troupe.
Shalem apparently also has the same VA as Leviathan, btw.
ANYWAYS! One last thing I really like to see in terns of voiceline usage is making them reflect character development! It's present in the unlockable voicelines as you promote and increase an Operator's Trust in Arknights, but I do feel it's done really well in Granblue Fantasy. As an example: meet Sandalphon.
Sandalphon started out as an antagonist in the first What Makes the Sky Blue. Blinded by hatred and anger towards Lucifer, he vowed to destroy everything the Supreme Primarch held dear to his heart - which just so happens to be the Skydoms. He even goes so far as to drop the player character down to the endless skies near the end of the event! His Grand version (the Earth version) is him at his peak, after absorbing the four tetra-element Primarch's wings to use as his own.
He is rendered in an 'imprisoned' state until the time the second What Makes the Sky Blue event rolls around, and the Paradise Lost sub title is fitting. Because by this point, Lucifer is killed by Beelzebub by decapitation and his body taken by Belial to revive Lucilius, leaving behind Lucifer's head for Sandalphon to find upon leaving the angelic cradle he was imprisoned in. Lucifer bequeaths his Supreme Primarch powers and role to Sandalphon, fulfilling his original duty - to serve as Lucifer's replacement should he one day fail to perform his duties. But there is no fanfare to this event, and Sandalphon is left with many regrets and unspoken apologies towards Lucifer, his first friend and companion in their mutual loneliness - with Sandalphon always remaining behind while Lucifer often left to tend to his Supreme Primarch duties. This is the Sandalphon that is the base of his event version (Light element).
A large chunk of his character development is resolved on the final instalment of the trilogy, 000. Here, Sandalphon vows to see through Lucifer's wish for a blue and peaceful sky, and he fights off Lucilius and Belial just to do so (Beelzebub was first weakened by Lucilius and then sealed away by Cagliostro, so err...better luck next time, Bubs). A lot of parallels happen to tie off loose ends - Sandalphon uses the wings of the tetra-element Primarchs to fight toe-to-toe with Lucilius on Michael's insistence, Sandalphon is now the one to say "ittekimasu (I'm going now)" instead of Lucifer who now says "itterashai (I'll be waiting)", and the player character is the one who grabs on to Sandalphon's hand to save him from a deadly fall to the bottom of the skies. This is the version being showcased in the above vid, as a skin for his Earth version - the version itself being a 5* uncap for the event version from Paradise Lost (the uncap material is the event reward).
All of his voicelines reflect his promise to Lucifer now! In order (as translated in the GBF Wiki):
This is the power of an angel/Primarch. Use it well.
I won't let you destroy our wish!
I will annihilate you...
I will put an end to all calamity...Ain Soph Aur!
Which is insane because the other previous versions of Sandalphon, not counting his Valentine's and summer alts? They're a touch too emotional, a touch too angry, and a touch too hateful (Earth). The summer alt also reflects some character development from The Maydays event, and hnghhh Primarchs are good give playable Gabriel and my second Michael weap (or should I say Fire PnS-) please I am a suffering Water and Fire main
Anyways yeah! Voicelines gud. Tiny character snippets gud. Me likey.
