man the thing that always gets me the most about transformers is when they know each other by name. Like,, sure it hurts when they do because they knew each other pre war. But really when it's like,,, knowing someone by name because you've fought each other so many times in so many battles all during the same unending war that you know this person. Like, sometimes it's even more than just knowing their name sometimes you know this person. The characters that have playful relationships with each other that met for the first time on the battlefield. That are actively trying to kill each other, but will be sad about it and miss them when the other is gone. The ones that bond in unlikely situations just to go back to fighting as soon as the dust settles. Sometimes it's even at a time where the war has lost its point or contradicts what they were even fighting for in the first place. Where they're literally doomed to fight into extinction or.. stop. But they don't stop. Like, idk... The autobots and decepticons pretty much always end up fighting for an amount of time so large it's literally inconceivable. And at the end there's often so few of them left, and they mostly all know each other intimately and by name and like,,,

Idk this is really rambly and I'm having a bit of trouble articulating but sometimes I really stop and think about how many of them know each other specifically through fighting and it gets to me a little bit

actually re: fromsoftware politics. i do think it's very interesting that the anti-colonialist RLF, ostensibly considered the 'good guys' of the game, were initially explicitly called the communist faction. armored core always has been a series critical of oligarchies and hyper-capitalism, but it's... very interesting to see just how blatant that is in ac6 specifically

you'd think that fromsoftware would eventually drop the ball on the "the ruling class will kill you and cannibalise itself in order to stay alive" considering that they're considered elite AAA devs rn, but thinking about elden ring and ac6's narratives, they've really only gotten more obvious about it - the horrors of colonialism and genocide and the sympathy given to the rage of its victims is something that's actually insane to see, to me, from such a big studio - fromsoft doesn't even attempt to be centrist about it.

for example, the frenzy flame ending. the only thing melina can tell you to dissuade you from pursuing it, ie literally destroying the world forever, is that there's still beauty in the world, apart from the suffering the golden order had caused. at no point however is the sheer despair of the people that the flame represents villanized. if anything, it's portrayed as a self-fulfilling prophecy, it is a tragedy. the only villain is the order who slaughtered all of these people, the flame of despair is something that emerged in them as they were buried alive. and the flame isn't even intended as a revenge upon the world, it's simply a means to end the pain they feel for being subjected to this.

their grief isn't something for the player to judge, it isn't something they're forced to overcome, it's simply a physical manifestation of the reality that was forced upon them. and these people, the merchants, are still kind to us, even knowing the order that we pursue. (in fact, the true, considered best ending of elden ring, is literally just sacrificing yourself in order to achieve complete anarchism. and getting a cool wife to endure the loneliness of space along the way)

in ac6 then, ayre is so terribly forgiving towards us, knowing what we are, knowing what made us, knowing what we participate in. some of this undoubtedly is because of her narrative role, she has to be a sympathetic character. but we do get to see her rage at the end, her grief for her species being seen as nothing more than a resource to be exploited or burned fully vocalized. but the RLF is sympathetic too as resistance fighters who want their home back. the only criticism the game ever leverages towards the RLF is that they're actually not radical enough in their pursuit of freedom, and that criticism is made by a villain.

it's so... i almost want to say optimistic? other games would have tried to pull a "ooh but what if the good guys did bad things (poor attempt at moral grayness)" but no, the RLF is justified at every step of the way. idk it makes me feel things. i dont particularly want to portray fromsoftware as these bastions of political correctness or sth - they're not perfect and i don't expect that ever lmao, but it's so fucking weird that their games are this progressive and have been for a long ass time.

IT'S TIME TO REWATCH AGATHA ALL ALONG, WITCHES! And as usual, spoilers below.

episode 1, Seekest Thou The Road

Wanda is dead (no she ain't). As a result, her spell is weakened and Agatha has changed from her nosy neighbor character to detective Agnes (or caught the true crime bug, as Herb will put it.)

Stinky grimy Agnes, so serious and depressed. As soon as she appears onscreen she's humming the Ballad.

Detective Agnes has just been recalled to action after being off duty for a while. She was punished for "punching a suspect", which is code for going after Wanda. Agnes points out that now the suspect is a convicted felon, i.e. that she was right after all and Wanda is dangerous and evil. "I can't be right and wrong" she says. "Yes, you can" says Herb, because both Agatha and Wanda are villain and victim. And lol at the police tape symbolizing Herb's fence. You know the poor guy is in his garden looking down at Agnes in her Bonher family tshirt, wondering what the hell is going on.

Agatha looks heartbroken when she sees Wanda's body, doesn't she? She looks so sorry.

Herb (the real Herb behind the illusion) confirms that Agatha is acting different than usual.

THIRD TIME SHE DISCREETLY DRIES HER TEARS

There is nothing funny about Detective Agnes. Or rather, it's funny to watch her because she's so intense, but we laugh at her, she's not being a clown on purpose like Agatha usually is. And Agatha right now is in a lot of pain, even more than usual having completely lost her agency. This character so unkempt, so sad, so doggedly searching for answers, is more true to Agatha's real self than what she usually lets people see. Deep down she's just a tragic lesbian wet rat.

Somebody called in to have the body found, and I think that somebody was Rio. Why would the body be next to the water otherwise? It's like the River of Life laid her gently where Agatha could find her. In other words, Wanda's death brought her to Agatha. I'm curious about these woods too, we know they don't actually exist as this is all in Agatha's head, but where did the idea come from? Are these the woods where she killed the Salemites? Where she gave birth to Nicky? Or where she buried him?

Agatha's victims from the finale flashing throughout the opening. Wherever it may bend, I'll see you at the end.

"based on the danish series WANDAVISDYEN" never fails to destroy me. and it's so clever too, it's like they're telling first time watchers that yes, this seems like a grim detective show, but you clever audiences know that things are not as they seem and this is a parody, right?? this is not serious at all, it's funny! Laugh! Except. It's not funny. It's not funny at all. And you're going to realize only when it's too late. It's the same thing they do with Sharon/Mrs. Hart, they lure you in with laughs only to hit you with heartbreak. This show is not a comedy at all. It's at its very core a senseless tragedy.

Sarah/Dottie lives next door too, was Agatha talking to her through a window, or does the library desk symbolize another fence? This poor woman, hasn't she suffered enough? But they all more or less try to help Agnes, that's sweet. Has anyone from SWORD or whomever dropped in to talk to them, did the Avengers just decide to leave Agatha there? Did Monica (or Ralph) even explain to the poor people of Westview that she's a witch, or do they just think she's a random neighbor who couldn't be saved from Wanda's Hex?

THE MAILMAN CONTINUES BEING SUSPICIOUS. Is Agatha putting words in his mouth, or was he (the "messanger") sent by someone to warn her about the Darkhold being destroyed???

her FACE when she sees Rio

and the way Rio just stares and stares. When you rewatch this scene knowing that this is the first time she gets to see Agatha in centuries... and she has to be cool and she has to be gentle. I think it's deliberate that they put Phil/Harold/Ross Geller in here, because he's one of the funniest people in Westview and it's suggesting a first time viewer to read this scene as a comedy. Except it's a cosmic tale of tragedy and heartbreak, but you're not supposed to notice yet, even if it's right there under your nose.

Stop being such a lone wolf, Agnes. Or rather, stop being such a sad and lonely covenless witch, Agatha.

Rio laughs her delighted little laugh, licks her lips, looks out the window for a moment as if overwhelmed, then goes back looking at Agatha and basically devouring her with her eyes. ("te veo.") (thank you for my life aubrey plaza.) Agatha stares daggers back, but her body language stars getting defensive. She feels very vulnerable.

Yep, defensive. And wistful.

She is doing her job, like always. But she's also going above and beyond. There is technically no need for her to wake Agatha up, but here she is, dropping gentle clues, guiding her with such patience and care.

"If you wanna be in control you can be" is said in such a kind tone, but it's also sexy?? I think Rio really likes for Agatha to take control, in a lot of ways. Her body language is the opposite of what Agatha is doing too.

Oh noes she's making herself so small now. She's like, intrigued and angry and happy and scared to see Rio. They're both being so tentative!! And she doesn't actually know who Rio is because she's under the damn spell, so her body language and feelings are pure instinct. They come from somewhere very very true and deep. (and LOL that mug says "get a clue")

Is this who you are now, Agatha? the intense but lonely detective? she's genuinely interested, because Rio investigates Agatha just as Agatha investigates everybody else. Rio simply cannot get enough of her. and she keeps talking with this gentle, warm, understated tone.

Gains personal space. Keeps staring and staring.

oh now we're leaning. they do this every scene they are together, they keep getting closer and closer even if they don't mean to, like magnets.

Agatha literally bolts to the door and tells her to leave. Rio's presence is so overwhelming in so many different and complicated ways, and she doesn't even understand why that is at the moment. Kathryn Hahn is playing this perfectly straight (no pun intended), there is genuine pain in her voice.

"Te veo", which is not "see you," but I see you, I'm always looking for you, I'm always watching. And I finally see you, after all this time.

Oh, honey.

"Every day, seing them scurry around the castle, and you seemed too happy to ignore the glances they gave eachother, the way they were all too happy to enter the armory, all because of the false promise of connection and love" your breathing was erratic and you were almost crushing the salve you were applying in his wounds between your fingers.

Adrian seemed... scared and mortified, like a child being chastised, his eyes were brimming with tears. He didn't mean to... it looked like he wanted to say something, to speak. Maybe even to beg for you to not be so upset with him and you knew it, your words seeped like venom into him, the adrenaline coursing your body and the stickiness of the two guest's blood dripping from your skin.

"And I told you so... I told you! And you didn't listen... and the worst part? You want to know what's the worst part?" A reflection of his fear flashed on your face, your eyes foggy with tears as the real reason of why you were upset crashed on you, you finished applying the salve, which you let fall carelessly onto the floor.

Adrian tried to reach you, to grab your hand but he was shaking too much, his body was weary and stinging and your words stuck onto him. Whimpers and sobs left his body he said three wobbling words "Please...I just..." the rest of his phrase died in his throat.

You grab his shoulder and bring him closer "the worst part is that I tried to keep you company, and as much as you were happy to spend your days training and eating with them, you were just as happy to ignore me, it's like you never cared for my company. You needed those two wretched, lying vampire hunters to full your heart... why? Why ask me to stay in the castle in the first place if you didn't see me as someone you'd want as company..." you wanted to fall to your knees as time seemed to slow, the high of adrenaline leading to a crash of exhaustion. Adrian too, his beautiful face was sullen and tears fell from his eyes unrestrained

Two people sobbing could be heard in alucards room, the moonlight reflected in the glass shards of the broken window lit their tears like stars falling into the crumpled bedsheets.

Your hands held his gently, always caressing him when he needed, assisting on healing those nasty silver wounds etched by the greedy bastards, your mind was filled with fury towards the two, yet your hands remained tender, with love. Whenever he cried, he felt guilty for ever shunning you, but thank whatever deity out there that you have a heart, you held and vowed with no hatred to his weeping soul.

His cheek rested onto your clavicle, his safe haven is always near your face, perhaps your body, the body he felt comfortable attaching himself to, the body that healed his own.

You rest your cheek atop his head, pressing a gentle kiss around his temple, you reached up to massage his tension-filled scalp, your thumbs rubbing circles onto his temple, a soft sigh spilled from his lips.

He looked younger with his eyes closed, the tensions fading off his face, your heart shattered at that mere sight, a sight that nasty people find an advantage in rather than caretaking.

You swallowed the lump in your throat, hoping the tears rimming your e/c eyes don’t stream down your cheeks as he drifted to a short nap.

You vowed to hold him, even if he sleeps for centuries, you remain in the same position, if it means to keep him in a peaceful state.

"it's easy, i can teach you," offering to teach you how to play the guitar when you awe over his skills. the thought of having his hands over yours, guiding them to hit the strings right, his face right next to yours, cheeks touching; it was a step closer.

slow and steady was his plan.

but once he knew of how you'd been here only for a one year work program, he realizes there isn't enough time to take it slow. and from then on he's actively pursuing you. asking you out on dates, even though he doesn't specifically tell you it's a date, the things he takes you out for are obvious enough. expensive restaurants and famous bakeries, pretty parks and romantic plays, boating picnics and city tours to show you all the places he'd bring you to every weekend.

waiting right outside the building with breakfast, in the morning when you leave for work to walk with you and drop you off. sometimes he'd wait outside your door but after you told him he doesn't need to do so much for you, he stubbornly opted to wait downstairs, telling you he's heading to work too. his studio on the other side and his 'work' starting whenever he wants it to.

sometimes he would ask you to come over for help because he can't write anything and having you close gives him inspiration. sitting with you out in the balcony, coffee mugs in hand while he makes you laugh, your pretty little smile flooding his mind with hearts and fuzzy feelings.

sending flowers to your workplace at lunch along with little desserts and sweet little notes telling you he'll keep trying until the end.

slowly as you accept him and his love, he'd invite you to his shows, giving you vip passes for backstage so you can be with him before and after he's on stage. dedicating songs to a special someone and talking about everything he loves about you, he's smitten; wondering what he'd do when the year is over.

the presidents role is to be the face and voice of america and her people, and for every loss of life, for every tragedy, and for all the pain her people must go through, the president must feel it. that is a heavy burden, but it is one our president must carry. our president represents us. there should be a level of class, of respect, and dignity in a president, that our current president does not fulfill

he is a sorry excuse for a leader, a role model, a human being, he is above all, a pathetic man who should not have the privilege of speaking for america and her people.

and even if you agree with his harmful policy’s, how dare you let our voice be so callous about lost lives? about children? it is disgusting. a president should have a level of poise when they speak, strong encouraging words instead of unintelligible insults

and the tiniest bit of hope i had, the smallest shred that this wasn’t all bad, has been ruined and tarnished, because excuse me for thinking that perhaps our leader would respond with even the smallest bit of empathy instead of placing blame everywhere else

when i was in high school, i was part of a very very good band program. there were a lot of talented people and we managed to take up a huge chunk of the school population. it was guaranteed to have at least two band kids in a class, and this was a AAA school. this is important because our reputation as band kids... was that we were always going to be the best students you had. not because of grades, but because of character. the same went for the many programs that we went to. if we were at a district competition, we were quiet when we had to be, we cheered for other bands, we would lend our equipment, etc etc. i can't think of any instances not only in my time there but before or after where people would groan when they thought about us coming to their event. because there were no incidences that made people think twice about inviting us

how we got that kind of reputation? my band directors built an environment in the band where we wanted to do great. "character, commitment, competence, capacity" were the 4 C's that were put on the wall. this is the best example that I could find, where I think communication and commitment are the same:

every student took up a leadership role even if you weren't handed a title like "drum major" or "section leader". we learned about how to represent ourselves and the people in our community, and we were proud of that. like yeah we might have sounded like a bunch of fucking nerds, but it was a good place to be.

often we heard adults wondering how the hell our band directors managed such a feat. it was such a large band that there should have been at least one group of teenagers that acted out or something. but that was incredibly (and i mean incredibly) rare, and were never so bad that it couldn't be immediately fixed.

it was possible because we had good role models!!

our band directors worked with every teacher on campus, brought us to community events, they had food drives and toy drives, etc etc. they were funny but they knew when to get work done, they created a space where we felt comfortable with them and wanted to make them proud.

i don't see anything like that when i see Trump, nor do i see it in people that voted for him. his Character is not just rude but nasty. his attitude towards the people he's supposed to be representing and caring about was absolutely intolerable. when asked if he cared about the lives of these people (WHO BY THE WAY, DIED MINUTES AWAY FROM WHERE HE IS RESIDING), he was a snarky fucking brat. he was childish and replied with THAT? "You want me to go swimming?"

that was the most WILD, out of line shit i have heard him say in a minute. that was blatant disrespect on the lives of the people that were lost, their families that have to live with the grief for the rest of their lives, and to the American people that were hoping something would be said to comfort and ease our minds.

his statement was read off of a paper that someone else 100000% wrote for him. and then he went out of his way to say that DEI is responsible for it?????? THE DEI??????

you know why he said that shit? because it was his fault! he is directly responsible for air traffic control not having enough people that night. he fired 100 FAA senior officials, there was the hiring freeze that HE demanded, the Aviation Safety committee was disbanded, demanded for existing employees to leave, offered the buy it out. and then that plane went down- the worse air collision in the US in 16 years.

he can't take responsibility. he won't do that, because he would have to admit that it was his fault. that's a pretty trick that narcissists love to do. they come up with excuse after excuse for why something couldn't be their fault, it always has to lie with someone else. and he chose to blame... diversity?

the thing that really gets me about this DEI shit is that most of these people will argue that we need to get rid of it because people should be hired for their merit and not because of the color of their skin or gender. THAT'S WHY THE DEI EXISTS. because if it DIDN'T, only white men would be hired- for the color of their skin, because of their gender, and NOT because of their merit. diversity in our workplaces is how we end up being able to see different perspectives. the US is a melting pot of cultures and that's supposed to be a beautiful thing. the fact that we are still having arguments about it is because there are still people in power who do not want us being unified as a nation. they directly benefit from us believing that "the black man/ the latino man/ the white man" are the enemy. the enemy isn't the person who looks or acts different to you, the enemy are the people who are supposed to be representing us that are only acting out of their best interests.

Trump will never admit that he was wrong about something. It's not in his character. He is not a giving, caring man, who wants the best for the people. He is a lying, cheating, scum of the earth that sits on a "throne" built on the backs of people that do the work for him and who he has divided using hate and envy, then he props his feet up on a footstool made of his ugly pride, and he sticks his big fat thumb in his mouth, taking up all the room for that silver spoon.

He has no commitment to us as the people (even the ones that voted for him) nor to the people also in power that are loyal to him. I believe that in no time at all, he's going to get greedy and they're going to eat him alive, because Trump isn't even smart enough for any of this, there's someone else pulling the strings. He is an incompetent man child with no accountability for his actions, he has failed nearly every business that he touched and only has his money because of what his family had built before him. And he has no capacity for greatness nor does he have critical thinking skills. He props his words up with fluffy decorations and lies right through his teeth, and the people that voted for him are lapping it up like dogs starved. People are about to find out real fucking quick that Trump has been playing it easy and using the benefits of other people's work before him to make himself look good.

AAAA so twisted of them to not say a word until the day you're suddenly giving birth and pushing an entire human baby out of you..... poor darling. >_< all you can do is hopelessly squeeze Luka's hand while you scream and cry and try your hardest to survive because that's what this is, right?? Life or death?? It definitely feels like it. But then this tiny human is being bundled in a blanket and handed off to you after they've snipped the umbilical cord, and wow,, both you and Luka are in such awe,,, AAAAA OTL you're drenched in sweat and there's blood between your legs, and it's all such a mess... and yet there's something precious and so fragile about this little life cradled in your arms.

Going so crazy over this omg...... the gentle non-con to the horrors of pregnancy to then gradual softness (and perhaps even trauma) after everything,,, Luka finding even more reasons to adore you,,, knowing nothing of raising a child, but you refuse to hand them over to the aliens....... ohhhh,, it's all so tragic. Or or or!!! You don't want to get too attached and then lose this child, so for the longest time you refuse to name them..... there's so much angst potential omg!!!!

Here's an interesting take about Fionna and Cake that I kind of love.

In Fionna and Cake's universe, now dulled by Simon's sane mind, everyone is totally fine living their dull and mundane life.

Gary might not be a rich prince and Marshal might night be a badass vampire, but they're content with the lives they have and the possible future plans they could share together.

Characters like Hunter, Ice Queen, Flame Prince, and several human reflections of the people in the Land of Aaa might not be as magical as they once were, but they have jobs that are perfectly fine for them and they have no issues living life as is.

And Ellis might be a trash hobo...but that's probably no different from his magical life if it's in anyway similar to LSP's.

The only people who have problems with their mundane life are Fionna and Cake. They're fine with their world and the friends they have in it (at least in Fionna's case), but they're both dreaming for MORE. It's as if, despite EVERYTHING changing, Fionna and Cake still maintained their thrill for adventure and lust for a magical life, which sounds so perfect. I mean, they were the protagonists of their own epic stories, only to now live a life where everything's the same and perfectly mundane. It's as if despite this massive, universe change, Fionna and Cake still has something deep inside them that reminds them exactly who they are and what they SHOULD be.

Also--And this just occurred to me--I love how Fionna and Cake are living the EXACT lives Simon wants and vice versa. As the Cheers theme song perfectly conveys, Simon wants to go to a place where everyone knows your name and the people are the same. Instead, he's forced into a magical world that he feels he doesn't belong in, despite there being people still in his life that gives it meaning. Simon doesn't want more, he wants LESS, acting as a perfect opposite towards Fionna and Cake.

This results in a dynamic of the three of them searching for what they want, only to realize that it's not what they NEED for a happy life. Simon NEEDS to learn that he can live a normal life despite its tragedy. Fionna and Cake NEED to learn that they don't need adventures and magic to be happy. It's only through each other and the adventures they go on that they can learn this, and if that's really where the show's going, I'm ALL in.

AAA THANK YOU i've been thinking about johan lately... i recently had this long conversation with a friend about monster and man. johan really is the it girl of antagonists. it gives so many fun qualities to play around with when characterizing him as a yandere.

specifically, how he goes about keeping you from leaving. some yans use force, physical confinement, threats and manipulation, but johan doesn't really have to. you're in this position that burdens you with responsibility. it's your conscience that shackles you. johan is a person who, officially, doesn't exist. every alias he takes on has been meticulously forged. his crimes are largely carried out by others and aren't considered related. no one knows what they're contending with.

no one aside from you.

maybe you can't undo all the harm he's done, or prevent the tragedies he will enact, but you can do something. this knowledge is a pesky, trying thing. what starts as a nagging thought becomes a poltergeist that can't be exorcised. johan won't kill, maim, or significantly impair you in any meaningful way. his affection that grants this immunity makes you his achilles heel. what-ifs become the force that keep you awake at night.

what if your interference, meager as it may seem, saves one life? what if you uncover something that could finally see him brought to justice? what if by fleeing, you're inadvertently dooming those he'll raze in the future? these possibilities fester and proliferate by his goading. he tasks you with convincing him that human life is valuable. he'll quietly sit through every argument you make, granting you as much time as you want.

occasionally, he makes concessions.

if you see so much value in this person's life, then so be it, he'll leave them be. the rush of relief that comes from saving someone turns to cold dread. in your absence, he considers nothing sacred. it's your involvement that prevents everything from descending into chaos. the time you willingly spend with him would be impossible if society itself unraveled, after all. he delays his more malicious machinations just for a taste of your undivided attention.

Can you explain the terms sire and fledgling and any other terminology? I'm not sure if they're well known terms within the group of people who like vampires and vampiric stuff but I don't know what they mean...

No worries! The definitions change depending on who you ask, especially since people can just take and adjust things to their own preference so here are my personal definitions for these terms :3

Vampire - An immortal undead creature who needs blood to survive, some have bat forms and even wings.

Werewolf - They can turn into wolves, and are influenced by the full moon, they need packs. They're also immortal (I don't wanna think about the twins outliving the pack)

Sire - A vampire that has turned a mortal into another vampire. They will nurture them for 5 to 50 years (usually more, sometimes forever) before the newly fledged vampire becomes independent enough to be on their own. Sires tend to stick with their fledglings for the rest of eternity

Feral - Basically a bloodstarved vampire, or an abandoned fledgling. Nightmare was a Feral for a long time, until he gained the pack as his surrogate sire/coven

Fledgling - Basically a baby vampire, they'll stay with their sire for the rest of eternity, or go off and create their own coven (the bond is never truly destroyed until the sire passes away). If a sire passes away or abandons their fledgling without proper nurturing, they will develop much slower (If at all) and have behavioral issues

Coven - A group of vampires, usually from 5 to 15 members, sometimes more. Sometimes if the sire is like, REALLY bad and just turns a ton of people w/o remorse or care you can end up with a feral coven/pack, who are just bloodthirsty and instinct driven

Pack - A group of werewolves, usually 5 to 15 members. A werewolf cannot be alone without a pack, or they'll become Lone Wolves or Feral.

Surrogate - Vampires and Werewolves can act as stand-in surrogate pack/coven members. Sometimes that can bring animosity due to custody battles LOL

A fledgling/feral creating another fledgling, especially without a sire around for them, ends in tragedy if no other vampire or werewolf steps in.

Due to freezing their bond, not due to death or intentional abandoning, Dream instinctively stopped growing and never left his fledgling state. It was basically a defense mechanism to give his sire, Nightmare, time to grow enough to properly take care of him. Dream has no idea, he honestly thinks he's grown enough to be separate from Nightmare.

How are you feeling about the aaa finale? idk I’m loving this show so much and I’m so afraid of being disappointed by the ending. I was still hoping for everyone to come back but now I’m accepting that they are gone, gone and the way it’s going Agatha’s coven will only be her and Billy and I like him but not nearly as much as I love everyone else

And then there is Rio, hopeful I’m just being too pessimistic but I fear the show will just end with her still being the antagonist, they will fight, there will be a truce and she won’t kill Agatha and Billy and they will part ways. The only way we will get that kiss is in the flashback which will be worth it but I still wanted more. idk the interviews usually makes me excited for what’s next but this time it made me conflicted

but Jac saying the show will be all about Agatha to the very end was nice to read. I can’t stand all this talk about where is wanda??? who knows but not in this show hopefully!!!

Hello Anon! Well, I would say my emotional state towards the finale has been about the same for the past few weeks, which is a mix of absolute excitement and nerves.

Probably not the best for my emotional and mental health so maybe I should be glad this is a limited series! My body certainly will be.

I was entertaining the thought of dead coven members possibly coming back but Lilia's death was so beautiful and her choice despite it being also her destiny, and her arc was about accepting the life she had and making the best of it and embracing her power.

As for Alice, it's possible she comes back, but it's also possible her character gets closure and moves on, given that we do know there's a scene with her post-death coming up. And Jac Schaeffer seems big on delivering emotional satisfaction at the end of her stories (not to say she's guaranteed to deliver, but it's her goal at least).

I have some meta thoughts brewing about this episode's take on destiny and fate and time and death (alongside other death personifications in media) and as hinted at in the latest Schaeffer interviews, there's definitely stuff the show wants to say about it.

On another note, I've mostly processed my feelings about the tragedy of these two as star-crossed lovers in this post if you haven't read it it may help. For me it's still hard to get a read on Rio as they're building new lore with this version of Death. This is definitely not the same Lady Death from Marvel comics.

But I do think that it's actually a good thing that Agatha and Rio are getting into open conflict, the same way Agatha and Billy are having it out in the open, because the characters need to deal with their shit.

And I feel like... especially from the last episode, the show isn't setting up Death to be evil, or necessarily bad. Death is Agatha's antagonist because – as Schaeffer puts it – she refuses it, she refutes it. Lilia ran from her visions because she wanted to avoid seeing death but ultimately embraced it. Agatha's a rule-breaker, a trickster but witchcraft is inherently rooted in nature.

There isn't a simple or clear answer here on what's right or wrong, which is why I'm really interested to see how the finale unfolds. Schaeffer genuinely seems to love ambiguity and the discussions around her shows.

Like yes, Agatha and Rio are going to fight. That's not really new for them? Okay maybe the scale of this will be. But as we've seen with all these reveals, what really matters is how and why and all the details in its crafted execution.

And again, Schaeffer has said that she's aiming for an emotionally satisfying conclusion. Even if the stories for these characters continue beyond, this series is designed to stand on its own. And the Agatha-Rio relationship has been important to the show, from the very first episode.

I'll also be making a predictions post for the finale for funsies, if you want to see what my guesses and expectations are.

ooh the "magick" mitzvah? I've been puzzling about the connection between william and billy, that's an interesting detail. I'll elaborate in a minute

I've seen a lot of irony about joe locke clearly not being 13 here, but the thing is, sometimes boys do suddenly hit puberty and have an insane growth spurt! and then you get the hilarious visuals of some guy sitting in a tiny desk in a classroom full of children.

my point being, they should have had joe dancing with a bunch of actual 13 year olds, it would have been so fucking funny

I love mama and papa kaplan, and it really gets to me that they lost their boy and don't even know it. I was worried about billy's episode because I thought it would be just a bunch of marvel tie-ins with no heart. glad to report I was wrong

william's reflection is billy reversed

lilia foresees william's death and billy's takeover, and she is SO sorry for him. patti as usual conveys so much, you can tell her heart is breaking but she's being kind and lying in order to not scare this poor kid. and this is exactly why being a Seer has always been a burden to lilia, how do you form any relationships, how do you love someone when you've already seen the day you're going to lose them?

“The Tower Reversed.” disaster, destruction, sudden upheaval. but reversed, it means miraculous transformation.

and there is something about lilia choosing this moment as the most representative for billy, a moment that symbolize both billy and william. this is future!lilia embracing her own strength and reclaiming the coven and the community she denied herself her whole life. and not only she includes billy in it, but also william as a fundamental part of billy, a kid that she protected and cherished despite meeting him only briefly.

not only lilia goes above and beyond for william, hiding the truth from him, inviting him to enjoy the party she knows will be his last. she hides the sigil on him so she can protect billy too, because she knows that another little boy is about to wake up in a strange reality and be so lost. she tells william he's a good egg, but she is the goodest egg.

I love the little choices here. wanda's voice on the radio, pretending she's in an idyllic sitcom marriage. and a real life marriage where wanda's 1950s tropes are reversed, rebecca is the one who drives and grabs her husband's hand to reassure him.

another great detail: the dissolving Hex reflected in the car window.

the parallels are taking my breath away. two moms, agatha and rebecca, fiercely loving and protective. both would blame themselves for their sons dying.

but sometimes, boys die. and to quote jac shaeffer, that is tragedy enough to fill the universe.

you can hear william's heart slow down and stop. then, when billy takes over, it starts beating like crazy.

and here's alice, who's also never met william (or billy) before, but she will unquestionably do her utmost to help.

he's so scared. the way he shakes his head and doesn't know where to look.

imagine being born yesterday, and suddenly you are in a different body and your head is cracked and you're surrounded by strangers. and your brother is nowhere.

(also I know billy is used to instant growth, but imagine switching from child to teenager just like that, it's like going through puberty in two seconds. kafkaesque nightmare fuel)

and it's just so realistic and so moving that the kaplans are presenting a united front even though they are crumbling underneath. and they won't say any of it out loud because they are good fucking parents and it's their job to protect and worry without their kid ever feeling guilty about it. (billy does end up reading their minds because they're not equipped to parent a superhero yet. not that they wouldn't RAISE TO THE FUCKING CHALLENGE. I love you rebecca and jeff kaplan)

william liked classic movies, board games and magic tricks. there were budding hints at a goth vibe too, with dario argento quotes and creepy victorian posters. it doesn't seem at all incompatible with the person billy will eventually grow up to be, I know he had to settle into william's life, but he didn't revolutionize any of it, he kind of followed in william tracks. I think that yes, william died just as wanda dissolved the hex and it was a wrong place and wrong time kind of situation, but he also had to be a compatible donor - as similar as billy as possible, I don't know if genetically or soul-wise or what. they even look a bit similar, same ears, same nose, same eyes, same chin, same triangular face.

by the way I will keep calling him Boyf because it's so damn funny, but I do know his name is eddie and I'm really really happy for the representation. there won't be any particularly deep meta about these two because gay boys are so, so far from my realm of interest or expertise, I'm sorry if you were looking forward to it. if you want to add context or ideas about them please do!

another possibility is that billy's soul, while not having any of wiliam's memories, was still shaped and conditioned by his dna and brain chemistry and past experiences, so in a sense william is still in there. you put software in a different hardware, it's gonna affect its performance.

I'll say this about boyf, he's very sweet. billy gives him this crazy story and he doesn't flinch, he just tries to understand and be supportive.

ah yes, the future coven looking after billy even before meeting him. lilia giving him the sigil, alice being first responder on the site of the accident, jen saving his dating life by teaching him good skincare (he's a teenager! he's got pimples!)

So I have some thoughts re: AAA S2...

First, I still believe there will be a season two in some form that is not VisionQuest because rabid shippers and/or bots (there are still dumb MCU boy theories that AAA only has buzz cuz bots) do not cause Disney execs to praise a show for opening up new quadrants and opening their brains to new ways to do MCU shows at shareholder meetings. Hard numbers and ROI do that and atop that, there's the prestige aspect. Kathryn Hahn has to be coming up on "actor most nominated for a Marvel role", seems genuinely excited to spend 5-10 more years doing this, overcame a right-wing review bomb AND seems to be a delight to work with (Brad Winderbaum had her for *voice work* and was like "oh, Kathryn is great") for cast and crew.

So, you know, why would your business division say "nah, I don't like awards, pop culture buzz, money, and an easy set that makes prestige actors who don't give a shit about the MCU say 'oh, I'll work with Kathryn'?" (For example, I expect to see Ariana Grande and Kathryn Hahn in a project together in the next 3 years) Exactly. You do not. I suspect D23 is gonna be lit for Kathryn Hahn fans and AAA S2.

That said, Marvel has done so few second seasons that of course they didn't expect their cheapest show full of gays, ladies over 40, and lady gays to be the next obvious S2 and especially not figuring out how to do that with the months since its finale including events like 'electing a gay-hating POTUS who likes yelling at Disney', 'one of the main actors had a terrible personal tragedy', and 'oops, entertainment industry region ON FIRE', so I'm not shocked things are up in the air. The negotiations for S2 probably didn't start in earnest until Disney Prime was like "Tangled, queen? Tangled, queen?" and Agatha Harkness is an amazing character with too many potential directions but no clear one.

What do I mean? Mostly that you can slot Agatha into several Marvel projects but none of them seem obvious. For example, she's canonically tied to the Fantastic Four and F4 is directed by a Wandavision alum. Agatha variant watching Franklin? POSSIBLE. VisionQuest seems entirely possible, though I'm a "I don't even know if Wanda and the twins will be a factor in the show" person. Billy is clearly heading to YA/Champions, why not his dirtbag ghost aunt? What if Wanda comes back in Doomsday under Doom's control and we all know "oh shit, dirtbag ghost aunt has a surprise tool that can help The Avengers later?" and suddenly Agatha and the twins have a key role in Secret Wars? All of that influences timeline for AAA S2.

And the tl;dr is that Jac and Kathryn don't talk like people who don't have an S2 in the works, it just has practical reasons to be up in the air for a few more months.
