What's the origin of your blog title? It originated from my gamertag "Memento Mori" (I've already made a whole post about why I chose that one somewhere here on this blog) and often found it already used on social media since it isn't an uncommon phrase, so I decided to swap "mori" with "kore" because Kore is one of the names of Greek Goddess Persephone - and what can I say, I relate a lot to the Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld, who is somehow both cottagecore and edgy, and if she can be both so can I

OTP(s) + Shipname: Oh god so many... I guess atm mostly Jayvik (Jayce & Viktor, Arcane), I've always shipped Destiel (Dean & Castiel, Supernatural), then of course there is Stolitz (Stolas & Blitzø, Helluva Boss) and Ineffable Husbands (Crowley & Aziraphale, Good Omens) but I honestly believe I have at least one OTP for every fandom and I cannot name them all here or it would take too long

Favorite colour: Never make a bisexual choose, but mostly blue, red, purple (and black if it counts as a colour)

Favourite game: Destiny 2 most certainly, Overwatch (2) more often than it is healthy, the whole Assassin's Creed franchise, Baldur's Gate 3, Minecraft (for 2 weeks a year), the Uncharted games, and games like Phasmophobia or Lethal Company where you can mess with your friends haha

Song stuck in your head: As of late I don't have that one song that I literally have to listen to 24/7 or I'll die, but a few are on repeat, like Bite Marks (League of Legends), To Ashes and Blood (Arcane), The Seed (Aurora), and The Kids Are All Rebels (Lenii)

Weirdest habit/trait? Uhhhhh probably that I always ask friends to do things like speak and order for me because of social anxiety, but as soon as I feel like they can't clearly convey what I mean (which is almost all the time because they cannot read my mind) my anxiety gets magically overridden and suddenly I can speak

Something you're good at: Writing, I hope, world building, character building and all that stuff. And helping friends by talking them through their emotions, at least according to my bf

Something you're bad at: Socialising, or maybe my anxiety makes me think that, but it always feels like I'm choosing the wrong dialogue options. Just ... talking in general. Finding the right words is easy when written, but not when spoken

Something you love: Art in any shape and form, mostly writing and drawing and music. Entertainment, be it shows or movies or games. Travelling, seeing the world. Nature. The sky. Animals. There's so much to love and so little time (and money).

Something you could talk about for hours off the cuff: Probably anything that is considered "deep" or "philosophical" because I love thinking about and discussing topics that don't have a clear right or wrong answer or solution. Like emotions, psychology, space,... Oh, and other than that: OCs and story ideas. With the right person, I can talk about those literally without end

Something you hate: Mosquitoes, that you cannot be instantly good at something, genAI, probably so many things

Something you collect: Uhh I guess the closest I am getting to actually collecting something is me trying to own all of the Assassin's Creed games, and of course other books, shows, movies and games I like. Favourite movie/show: Oh god so many. Some of my all-time-favs are Gladiator, Inception, LotR, Hobbit, Pirates of the Caribbean, John Wick, a few Marvel movies up until Endgame, HTTYD, Supernatural, Doctor Who, Hazbin Hotel, OUAT, ... I could go on for ages. And don't even get me started on anime

Favourite food: Uhh, Semmelknödel are pretty yummy, not sure what they're called in English or if there even is a word for them. Anything without meat (I don't like the texture) and with cheese and maybe garlic will probably do. Or something with potatoes. Or Ramen. Pasta. Chocolate cake. Cherries. Pomegranate. Okay forget it, I am hungry

Favourite animal: Cats, absolutely, and ravens/crows. Dogs and horses are great too!

What were you like as a child? I have been told I never really smiled at other people as a child (in contrast to my younger brother, who smiled at everyone), but instead just looked at them. Apparently I used to be quite confident and extroverted, holding speeches in front of other kids on the playground. That was before social anxiety and depression, and I don't really remember any of that

Favourite subject at school? Probably German (my native language) and English. I love writing and there I could do it. But all in all, every subject was interesting until they graded it

Least favourite subject: Maths. Heh. Cliché, maybe, but at some point I just didn't see a point in learning that shit, so I wasn't interested in it. I'm good at simple math and that's all I need in life

What's your best character trait? Uhh, empathy and compassion, maybe? I try to be the person who is helpful and kind, who is there for everyone who seems to need it. And I will defend the people I love without a second thought, verbally and physically

What's your worst character trait? Ooh I can definitely be selfish or stubborn in certain situations. I try to recognize it and be better. What I personally think is the worst though are trust issues, self-doubt and insecurity

If you could change any detail of your life right now, what would it be? I'd love to have money and influence, not because I wanna be rich and control everything, but because I think everyone deserves to be able to live their lives to the fullest and that's how I could make it happen. I want everyone to be able to use the one life they have on this earth to do things they enjoy. Be creative, relax, travel, live wherever you want, as long as you are kind and respect other people, I don't care what you do. Go and enjoy your time on this planet

If you could travel in time, who would you like to meet? Oh damn, I'm not sure I wanna meet any specific person. I'm more interested in just observing and being able to see for myself what past times were like. I'd love to see it all without interfering, just soaking up the atmosphere and vibes

1. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multichaptered fics?

I mean, my ao3 speaks for myself :') I guess my history of multichap is less of a preference, and more of a complete inability to keep anything fucking brief

even the gale/durge fic was supposed to be a one-shot. smh.

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?

It's a mixture of both. My last three fics have followed this pattern -

Write the first few chapters just chilling, seeing where things go. Hit the first point that feels like a 'turning point' (in pieces this was infamous chapter 7). then I outline and plan, once I know the fic is going to happen for real.

Typically, I plan what happens in a chapter, but not necessarily every step in the process. It depends how writing the chapter is going - outlines get more detailed, the more I'm struggling. atm, I'm stuck on the modern AU, so I am writing bullet points whenever i have energy so I have something to help me. sometimes I'll work off a one sentence notice, and the action will be vivid enough in my mind for that to work.

8. Do you prefer the beginning, middle, or end of a story?

depends on how reliant the story is on romance. if it's a romance-heavy fic, the middle for certain, bc the tension between two people getting together is my favourite part, and established relationships are comforting to read but they're sometimes difficult to progress as a writer.

i also like endings though! often because the ending of a thing will have become more and more vivid to me in time, so it's nice to finally put that final set of images down on paper. particularly if I stick the landing :'))

12. How does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

aghhhh, a dangerous question

I'm a very pessimistic (and currently very depressed) person. I require a hell of a lot of positive reinforcement, for a dumb bitch who's chosen to be in academia. I'm not sure I would still be writing, if people hadn't commented and read my early fics, in my dragon age era. I'm not sure I'd value the work I put into the world, if people hadn't shouted at me and told me it was valued.

this kind of changed with pieces 'blowing up' (i don't like that phrase). receiving that amount of feedback was amazing, but it was also overwhelming. it felt weird, to become 'known' - this is my introvert hobby, i like not being perceived. Now that it's passed, I also firmly believe no fic I write will ever be that popular, ever again. which isn't that no fic will be as good or better, but pieces was a perfect storm of a fandom i'd already written for, tropes people liked, and the height of bg3's popularity. my writing wasn't magically better in pieces, than in other fics. I will never get that amount of attention again, unless I start deliberately chasing trends or popular fandoms, which I don't want to do.

...and that's totally ok. Since pieces, I've consciously tried to just write ideas for myself, and not for feedback. feedback is the nice added bonus. but it also proved to me how much fandom/fic popularity is not about quality, and more about timing. your audience is determining a lot more than your writing necessarily is :')

so, to answer your question, to receive feedback or not to receive feedback impacts me a lot. receiving it will always make me feel like a better writer, because I'm very harsh on myself and I see none of the good things in my work that other people see. Someone saying 'oh this was good' has me replying 'oh fuck, really?' not shouting into a void is always fabulous.

but not receiving feedback is also an utter relief. I loved writing so much of the modern AU just for myself and one other person. it's nice to have a fun, medium sized audience of people I recognise, and people I'm writing for. bc i'd rather have just my own enjoyment, or a smaller group of core people who i know like my writing, than have a flash in the pan of like "WOW THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER" who never stick around

All of my fic ideas are published or publishing! :)

but I'm fighting off a dragon age rook concept (an orlesian mage who fled from the circles after the college system was introduced and then became a prodigious 'assassin', killing people with magic) with my bare fucking hands.

WIP Questionnaire (2.0)

I was tagged a second time by @finchwrites, so I'll do this for my second WIP too.

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

As I mentioned in this post, as someone from an Irish family, I wanted to write a novel that paid homage to our folklore, so I decided to mess with the general concept of a 'changeling'. Rowan came to be when I tried to think up a character that was a faerie who, for some reason, believed they were a human - and the rest followed.

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

Not so much a theme song, but Rowan and Killeen's song is definitely Dying Star by Ashnikko and Ethel Cain. I'd probably have it playing in the background when Killeen realises who Rowan actually is to her.

3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?

Rowan was the first character I created for this story so I do have a soft spot for her in my heart, but because I knew I wanted this to be a queer story, when I created Killeen I basically just turned my ideal woman into a lesbian fae warrior so??? of course I would die for her?? Plus being The Inquisitor for The Sidhe Court is kind of a slay, no?

4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?

Never read it, but from what I've heard I can only assume ACOTAR peeps would be into it. If anyone has ever watched Zone Blanche/The Black Spot (spooky french supernatural murder drama), that is EXACTLY the vibe I'm going for - just Irish (and if you haven't watched it you should).

5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

There are two parallel storylines in the story - Rowan's storyline when she is taken into the Fae realm, and the second storyline that follows the aftermath in her small town when her parents report her missing. I struggle a fair bit with actually writing the aforementioned second storyline because I get so caught up with all the lesbian dumbassery that I forget there is in fact a second layer to my plot.

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

Crows, ravens and other corvids are ALWAYS a motif in my stories. The Sidhe also have a strong supernatural connection to the flora and fauna so not only are there several different kinds of forest dwelling animals in the story, but most of the characters can communicate with them!

7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)

Honestly for a fantasy book my setting/map is rather small so most of the travel is done by foot. I guess there'll probably be a few police cars involved and maybe some kind of sailboat at some point lmao

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

In the earlier stages of the first draft atm. I started this as a passion project only about 6 months ago even though I had the plot idea for a couple of years.

9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

Queer fae. Need I say more? Also I'm hoping the fact that there are a lot more spooky/horror elements to this story, as opposed to a lot of faerie narratives, will interest people. It's all going to be set in Ireland as well so that's another demographic that I hope will enjoy it!

10. What are your hopes for your wip?

It's a queer story where the characters are just... queer.... and in love... there's no homophobia, no "I'm gay and that's okay and normal!", no having to come out - it just is right from the get go, a gay story about gay girls being gay without that being the focal point of the narrative - so I hope that if it ever gets published, it'll be a book that queer people can go to when they need a spooky gay fantasy without any of the trauma and alienation that we feel as queer people irl. I hope people connect to the story and take some comfort in the darkness.

Hello Shi-Shi! It’s been a while since I’ve messaged; I always say ‘I’ll message soon, not in a month or so again!’ And then the time flies and it’s already a month since I messaged. Time sure does go fast these days.

I haven’t been up to much except more driving and school. Of course, softball has started up again! It’s Mondays and Wednesdays, while I still have Gun Club going on, which is Tuesday and Thursdays. But my competition is coming up, so Gun Club will be ending soon. I have a softball game today, so that’s exciting!

when was the last time you cried? - this morning!! nothing 2 be concerned about i got woken up by the fire alarm (also nothing to be concerned about it just needs the battery replaced) and was so tired & upset i started crying, which happens. more often than i would like. hm. maybe i named myself after the wrong afton kid

dream job? - sorting pokemon cards in a comfortable chair as a day job with a 4 day workweek, being a freelance renowned fiction editor on my own time, with occasional music-related gigs (tutoring, repairing stuff, playing in concerts, etc). i give you no shit if i could do that for the rest of my life and get paid well enough to live on my own or with roommates i like, have a cat, and have enough time and energy to homecook a meal 3-4 nights a week i would be so happy. that's all i want in life. I don't usually write super angsty endings! I don't like them. Or, well, actually I do enjoy them sometimes, but IDK, if I'm writing a whole-ass fic, I usually want to make the ending happy!

still much that is fair! which is wild because it has one of the angstiest premises I've ever written (suicide attempt that all loved ones believed to be successful, ends with characters giving each other hugs and 'love yous' and closure)

Rarely. Every once in a while. Sometimes people don't like me writing autistic headcanons or characters mentioning pronouns.

No. I'm not opposed to it in fic, but it doesn't interest me.

No, but I'll read them sometimes. I'm not opposed to writing them, but I've never really gotten an idea for one that inspires me.

Not that I know of! I did once have someone warn me that my fic was 're-posted' to ao3 back in the days when I was still posting on both ffnet and ao3 with different usernames.

Yes, actually, though I forgot about it until asked! It's not one I ever posted. I co-wrote a Maximum Ride fic with a friend in middle school, lol. But I'd love to co-write again in the future! It's fun to talk about ideas with friends.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

All-time favorite ship is SO hard for me because I'm a multishipper and I flipflop fandoms a lot, so I kind of default to my first (and still beloved) ship: Janeway/Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager. I'm also gonna answer for my two main fandoms atm: Star Wars is Obi-Wan/Satine and TAZ Balance is Barry Bluejeans/Lup/Lucretia, because I love a good polycule. Also Barry and Lup on their own are great but they remind me too much of my parents to really go wild over them.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Be My Brother's Keeper. A Darcy Lewis is Tony Stark's daughter AU. I love that one and I had PLANS for it, but my Marvel days are so long gone.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm good at coming up with creative, unique ideas and making them work!! People often say that they didn't expect to like my fics from the premise but enjoyed them anyway. :3 I'm also good at character interactions and emotions

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Describing things, mainly visual things that are happening. They're just there, in the fanfic, not in a physical location to me. Also staying motivated to finish writing and avoiding derailing my own ideas with wanting to include EVERYTHING.

I haven't done it before but I'm not opposed!

Like, first fandom? Nancy Drew. I wrote a Nancy Drew fanfic when I was eight years old on looseleaf notebook paper, before I knew that anyone else wrote fanfic. In it, Nancy fell down a hole, broke her leg, everyone who loved her thought she was dead and they were all soso sad, but then they found her and it ended happily. My tastes have not evolved much since, but my writing ability has!

Changes often! Currently it is The Parent Trap(ped in an Umbrella) but I'm also quite fond of Still Much That Is Fair and one more last try, I'm gonna get the ending right.

Band name: How did they and the others come up with the band name? Has the name changed since it was founded?

So on my side of things: atm the band name might change, but I went with Entropy. Mainly because it was a name for another oc who I love, but who's background has since been scrapped. It's also a scientific concept I enjoyed learning so I guess the band decided the same heheh. It kinda goes with a theme they've been using of bringing the chaos, their groupchat is 'chaos bringers' and the fandom name Maya gave them is 'chaotics.' So for now it's sticking, and if it changes then I'll just think of smth else

for the band: I think similar to what I said ^ probably a concept that they thought was fun to learn about, and that it would be a fun band name c: I think that they discussed changing the name after Seven left, and ultimately decided that Entropy fit them best and that just because they're down a member doesn't mean they have to start new.

I imagine some of their best memories before getting together was attending shows together, rocking out and getting fast food afterwards with friends. Music is something so important to the both of them that sharing in the experience of seeing each other's favorite groups was very special.

Then there's also the moments after school where they'd have all this time together, because Seven's mom was working and Crystal's parents were just absent. They'd watch movies together and commentate about the parts of the movies that make no sense.

By the time they get into a romantic relations the two have spent so much time with one another they're practically woven together. Their are threads of Crystal in Seven, and threads of Seven in Crystal.

After their relationship ends, the pieces they hold of each other are hard to drop. Even weirder, I imagine, is seeing each other years later. They've both grown and changed in ways, it's hard to see someone that was everything to you and suddenly there's difference and pieces you don't know. Seven sees this as Crystal severing herself from her. And Crystal sees this and wishes she could've been there for Seven and see these parts of her develop.

I think some of Seven's favorite things about Crystal is the way she can always make her laugh, how she expresses herself through music, and her ability to make everyone in the band believe in themselves.

There’s this very dear shade of purplish blue that I’ve only seen in some hortensia flowers and the sky at specific times. It’s hard to capture on photograph but there is some of it in here:

Yes! I think if the Universe is so terribly vast, then we cannot be the only ones! I doubt we’ll ever meet them, though. I think the closest we will come to encountering aliens within our galaxy is if they discover microorganisms or something fairly primordial - still extremely interesting to a nerd like me, but I imagine most people would be disappointed!

28. Metal, folk, pop, or ambient?

Pop! I guess my favourite artist is pop? I listen to a lot of hyperpop and trance, Eurobeat, that sort of thing - i really love y2k/millennia type stuff. I’ve been listening to jrock recently. I find I like subgenres mostly. I don’t rly listen to a lot of modern mainstream pop outside of MARINA and Dua Lipa. :)

Hiii mate, me again 😅So I did a thing the other day and watched the whole ep of this week's nxt 🫣

I enjoyed it more than I expected, they be coooking there 😳 Hate to say this but some of their matches and promos seem even better than the main roster atm 😒; more entertaining, and believable as in it doesn't seem as forced as some of the spots on Raw & SmackDown rn 🙄. Their moves in the ring are also more varied and hard hitting and they even seem to utilise/book their talent better at nxt 😌

But I could be completely wrong considering I got all that from just a glimpse into nxt. 😂 I'm probably going to get smacked for saying all this by anyone who sees this post (including you). 😆😆😮‍💨✌🏾

I guess I'll have to keep a bit of an eye on nxt from now on 😌, just now and then to keep up (although may be not the whole 2hrs). 😆You can probably see my frustration for the main scene atm seeping in through this post 😅

29. what do you look for in a song or artist?

I have such a type when it comes to music and it's actually awful, like you could present me any song in any genre, but as long as it's in A and has some jangly guitar or dreamy synth and uses a 1-1-4-5 chord progression and maybe a descending 1-7-6-5 bit somewhere in the vocal melody, I will absolutely lose my mind and play it on repeat for days.

I do listen to other types of music but that's such bait for me it's actually shocking

I have a really specific criteria of what I look for in a song that isn't necessarily just the above thing, but I can't describe it in words, I only know when I hear a song whether or not it ticks any boxes.

When looking for an artist, I'll just find a song that I become obsessed with and then hope the rest of the artist's songs have similar vibes.

There are exceptions though, like when there's a song that doesn't really tick any boxes, but it does remind me of a fictional character, so although it might not do much to the Enjoying Music area of my brain, it does however give Blorbo Thoughts, which basically causes an equal response. how do you spend your free time?

i haven't had much free time in a while, mostly bed rotting lately. other than that, tumblr, books, tv shows, horror movies...

i also like to go to concerts/travel, but that's not in my free time per se - i just make time for it

oof. i guess reading, painting (no talent, tho, just making mess), colouring, embroidery. mom liked embroidery, she used to do it all the time, and she taught me how to do it. she also started taking my brother and me to the library as soon as we started school. we loved it, we used to go two or three times a week.

book(s): 'never let me go' by kazuo ishiguro and 'no longer human' by osamu dazai

my name is rurumi and i enjoy spending my free time writing!

some of my hobbies (outside of writing) includes: drawing, building gundams and keyboards, and fashion! i got into most of them on a whim and became instantly hooked. aside from self-expression, being into fashion also helps with making friends in college because you always have something to talk about!

a book that left a lasting impression on me would have to be either kafka on the shore by haruki murakami or before the coffee gets cold by toshikazu kawaguchi. both stories have kept me up at night thinking a lot about the 'what ifs' in life.

i enjoy soul/r&b alongside anything of jrock influence, but i will basically listen to anything that sounds good. i am currently listening to 'so what' by lucy!

my favorite character at the moment is rin itoshi from blue lock because hes so ridiculously edgy, but at the same time i sympathize with him a lot. on the other hand, my favorite character of all time is suletta mecury from the witch from mercury series, she's an absolute ball of sunshine that i aspire to be.

alright hello I'm already gonna warn you, this'll be long. btw, thank you sm for doing it, I'm really hyped! you're gonna do amazing, I know that, so do ti as you wish, full creative freedom. (btw, I'm gonna copypaste this because I've already written it once, hopefully that's alright with you)

okay! so. starting with me ig. i dont even know how to begin.

im listening to music atm. i always do - people that dont always listen to some music are kinda psychopaths if you ask me. like, if im not listening to music, i'll be listening to an audiobook or a podcast or be watching some video or netflix. i cant not do anything. i say i love reading, but the last time i read a book has been weeks ago. i just have reading slumps sometimes. not saying that i dont read regularly - god, no. i'll find enough fanfics and oneshots and shit to count for a book. but most of the time i can spare, i try to write. and at the moment, im really doing good! i write drabbles almost daily, and i try to finish a chapter for my actual wip bi-weekly. which... i gotta admit doesnt work all the time but im trying! im just a shit ton of a procrastinator. like, sometimes it physically hurts telling myself i need to do something but not being able to get up and actually do it. i kinda zone out a lot too when im forced to sit through something boring or just when i cant listen to music/watch something at the same time. i fidget a lot, too. so basically as you can see im always doing something, always have something going on inside my head, am quite loud. like, literally, im the loudest person i know, except for maybe my dad, and im really expressive. could be italian with how much i gesture.

for my hobbies, well, ive told you about some of them so far. im not really... sporty. in the slightest. and i dont like sports either. but the one thing i do indeed like is badminton, which i do somewhat regularly. i think i'd suck at quidditch, but, unlike football, i do believe i'd be interested in watching. also i just really want to fly a broom - like, if i could pick any animal to be, i'd be a bird. always would have said so in the past too. maybe a cat, just because i really love them, and am planning to get one as soon as i get my own apartment. i'll take one from the shelter, i think, and if i could pick it'd be a black one so i can call it toothless. i do have a dog right now tho, or rather my family does. i love her, but she's not as cuddly as i'd like her to be, which, i mean, is fine im trying my best not to step over her boundaries, but then again my love language most certainly is physical touch, so my favourite moments with her are when she just allows me to cuddle her in front of the fireplace. its kind of a tradition at this point when theres fire in there. what else is there to say?

i guess im really insecure of some things. dont get me wrong, i know my strengths, and i fucking love correcting people, my ego is over the moon sometimes. im stubborn and i hate being wrong and i know that im obnoxious when i discuss, just because i cannot stop discussing if theres still something to discuss. but im trying to better, really. some of it at least. still, i am in fact really insecure it seems. i worry so much what people might think of me - i cant present anything to anyone other than my closest family or friends because my voice will start to shake and i will start to sound like im gonna cry. on the topic of that, i cry so so easily. its horrible, really. plus, i have huge anxiety and i get panic attacks regularly, which kinda fucks with my sleeping schedule because they always happen when i go to bed.

okay, but enough with the depressive shit, im not done talking about myself yet. if you let me talk about myself i can and i will write paragraphs. really, dont worry putting all of this into your response. just think of it as me being super happy youre doing this because, honestly, genuinely, i am.

but getting on with it. when im excited, im kinda... like a child, in a way. like i let out unnecessarily high pitched screams and i cant stop laughing when ive started, and i clap my hand in front of my mouth or shake my arms out. im just really, really emotional tbh.

my favourite feeling is melancholy though. its... beautiful, in a very terrifying way. its the kind of feeling you get when you think about your childhood, or old friends, or family members you dont see anymore. its a feeling but its so much more and - i dont know. i dont know how it couldnt be my favourite.

i love sunrises and sunsets and i love the sun in general. im a summer person, partly because im always really cold (my circulation in my hands and my feet is fucked lmao, plus my blood ran low on iron for a while) but like, its summer, i dont get how it cant be people's favourite. plus, my birthday is in june, and my birthday is my favourite holiday. with christmas following.
