Back into Blue and Dark's meeting.

Dark Link is speechless at Blue's emotional state.

The face of "What the hell is wrong with you" if I've ever seen one, while also coming to the realization HE'S a part of what's wrong with Blue rn.

Just shyly mumbling he wasn't even TRYING to upset Blue, he was just venting his own feelings about the situation, realizing they hurt Blue a LOT no matter how much Blue needed to hear that shit.

Dark has a moment of clarity realizing they're both "Only good for hurting people huh?"

He realizes without even TRYING he did exactly what he promised Green he WOULDN'T DO.

He lied to him.

And it just makes him feel like crap mindlessly muttering "What do I do now?"

He's aimless and Blue feels much the same way.

He doesn't know how to grapple with the reality he was just smacked in the face with.

Dark's forgetting not everyone lives in his head mumbling to himself.

"...No you don't really like that huh?"

Earning a "huh?" from Blue because...what's this dude talking about now lmfao.

Dark clarifies, that he knows Blue doesn't like hugs.

Which BLUE clarifies he doesn't HATE them.

Both feeling pretty awkward and unsure after the exchange they just shared.

Blue's still feeling kind of defensive clearly.

Also Blue's eye shifted to Link's. It goes in and out for a few pages before staying as Link's eye.

Learning that Blue in fact doesn't HATE hugs, he offers one, saying it'd make him feel better.

The reason Dark assumed Blue DOESN'T like hugs is due to Red often forcing affection onto Blue and Blue responding negatively. (Especially in the OG FS) he doesn't hate physical affection, just when it's forced upon him.

...Reasonable question yet again Blue...

When Dark doubles down on the hug offer Blue realizes he's dealing with a weirdo and leans in.

He takes a few steps forward and is willing to hear Dark out on what he meant about Green now that Blue's feeling calmer.

Dark FINALLY introduces himself properly to Blue, just flopping his head into Blue's chest in exhaustion.

He follows this up by wrapping his arms around Blue and asks him if he can just go home now.

Dark at this point is very emotionally exhausted and it shows. Blue doesn't resist the hug but starts to retrospect the fight they just had.

Coming to the realization he and Dark were basically making a feedback loop of anger in the moment.

Dark breaks the tension in Blue's mind by clarifying he's not mad anymore and shows a bit of sympathy with "Bad stuff is always happening to you too" In reference to Blue...basically being hurt every 5 seconds in the OG FS (If you take a shot every time Blue is harmed in the OG four swords manga ya just might die)

Blue's touchstarved ass can't handle being hugged and tries to divert the conversation by tough guy saying "OH i can handle anything!" which Dark Link just shuts down X'D

Blue's trying really hard to push this guy away, at least emotionally.

While Dark is just, not meeting him with his anger at this point.

Him thinking Blue would be worried about the other's opinions, and trying to relate with "I wish people told me I was good too"

it's kind of vague what he means there but the implication is that he wishes people appreciated his work too, that people recognized what he did and Blue feels much the same. Somebody would just say "hey, you're doing great"

The want for praise and mutual admiration.

And he just bluntly tells Blue he thinks he's great.

Dark really does have a good opinion of the colors removed from the anxieties he basically plays tennis with XD

Blue obviously responds with anger at the blatant confession, cause Blue can't handle direct compliments. (he can't handle a lot of things XDDD)

He denies he cares at all about what Dark Link thinks about him. Who's this random guy to tell him shit anyway?

But being told this stuff DOES affect him.

And we get more of Dark Link's blatant jealousy.

It's a character trait that's often looped back to but Dark is EXTREAMLY jealous of the other Links.

He wants to be like them and have what they have but is far less explosive than Shadow about it.

He's more honest about what he wants vs the more brash "I'm just gonna take it" approach.

He's bitter at what he doesn't have, but instead of taking it out on the colors he often just stews in a growing self hatred.

His injury from Blue will come up again after his meeting with Vio.

The injury to his shoulder is a reflection of how his body reacts to the Four Sword on a smaller scale.

The four Sword damages him IMENSLY because he's a curse. He's a demon, an entity the four sword tries to seal and destroy.

It's something further to note that Green and Shadow are mentioned by Dark to BE his family, but Dark makes the mention he has no family that LOVES HIM here. At least, Dark rejects the idea Green or Shadow love him.

Dark's want to be a part of a family and BE LOVED loops back to his main goals being "I wanna kiss someone", physical contact and emotional vulnerability.

I usually hinge on the silly side of Dark's inherit desire for "kisses" and all the characters have dismissed this as a silly thing Dark wants, but that's kinda IGNORANT on their ends.

Dark doesn't JUST want to shallowly kiss someone he considers "hot" or attractive, he wants to be close enough with someone that they'd wanna do something that you'd associate with it. He wants someone to love him.

It's less about the action itself and more the idea behind it he's interested in.

Dark Link's desires inherently completely contradict his existence as a curse that destroys someone's mind, because Vaati's wish was extremely confused.

He's VAATI's vision of the IDEA of "Link" mixed with his hatred, his fears and desires for freedom.

And being a living contradiction really ends up messing with Dark's mind and mentality down the road.

because coaxing doesn't work...Dark Link diverts to his usual tactics.

Emotional manipulation.

He knows what will push Blue's buttons and acts accordingly to get Blue to act the way he wants and from his grin he's extremely pleased with himself.

Blue realizes too late Dark is playing him completely.

This guy can read him and get him to respond the way HE wants. And Blue just doesn't know how to react to that.

Blue's extremely defensive, feeling foolish as hell rn due to falling into Dark's trap.

Dark only pushes him further because this is amusing to him. XD

Blue comes to a real stand still with Dark because unlike the other colors, Dark matches his energy.

Despite his power, Dark Link doesn't take his threats seriously.

None of Blue's usual tactics work against Dark.

Getting mad, physical violence, in general being unpleasant just doesn't deter Dark Link at all.

Vaati's his master this should be a given XDDD

So Blue met his match and he doesn't know what to do because now he feels a twisted form of respect for this freak.

The line about Dark giving Green that flower so he could EAT IT will always be pretty funny to me because like...Dark wtf is wrong with you XD

Blue's face just about sums up the normal person's reaction to that.

Blue reached his limit for nonsense and accidentally pushed Dark's off button.

If you aren't in the know about Dark's weird reaction to head pats:

It's the ONLY real kind physical encouragement Vaati has given him through the series.

So it's something Dark Link seeks out.

Which is why when Blue goes to stop, Dark Link hesitates to let him but does leave flustered.

i like stonathan and fics where they're friends but i also feel like the cheating goes from bad to worse in those fics. like if they become friends after it's not quite so bad but then i do feel like there's more of an argument for jonathan having a moral/good friend obligation to tell steve what actually happened. but in fics where they're friends pre s2 it's honestly kind of evil of jonathan to do that then just let nancy lie and never say anything himself. i've seen both cases in fics and it always really bothers me.

ya like. i sort of see it as, if they're friends/interact friendly, maybe Jonathan thinks Nancy told Steve? It's not the best start to a relationship, and maybe they just don't talk about it really (they seem to avoid their issues together) So I see Jonathan, if they were friends, being super awkward about it and avoiding Steve(who wants to be around their girlfriend's ex that she cheated on with you?), but not realizing Nancy hadn't told Steve what happened. so that's how it slips out, if Jon talks to Steve after to apologize? and it causes more issues between the three of them and probably causes issues between Jonathan and Nancy too.

but if they are friends/friendly and Jonathan knows Nancy didn't confess.... gross and nasty and bad and on the verge of unforgivable for Steve. It's Nancy's responsibility but you're right there's some kind of obligation/morality in either encouraging her to tell Steve or doing it for her. Because if they were to try to form platonic relationships with Steve, the betrayal would be that much worse if he found out later.

Stonathan AND Stancy either romantic or platonic both require Steve to know what happened. Idk I think it'd fuck Steve up if he were to become Jon's friend post S2 only to find out later Nancy cheated with him. There's be a lot of confusing emotions and betrayal.

At this point in canon no one has told him and no one seems to feel at all guilty about it (because canon doesn't believe Steve was cheated on, even though getting together with someone less than two days after breaking up with your almost year long partner is still pretty hurtful). Nancy and Jonathan seemingly sometimes make fun of Steve behind his back (something I've only really done with friends exes who we don't see anymore, not someone who you still see pretty regularly. Nancy still at the very least sees around town but possibly more with him giving Dustin/max rides?) that scene with them at hop's cabin where Nancy says Steve has grown up doesn't seem like it's 'someome we both know does stuff that annoys us but it is kinda funny' complaining and more 'lets laugh about your stupid ex we don't like' (which is fine to do, just. Maybe I wouldn't do it about a guy who saved my and my sibling's lives separately at least twice that I'd see because he's still friends with my sibling's friends...) It's not like STEVE was the one that broke NANCY'S heart.

At this point I don't think the monster hunting trio will be able to have a good friendship, just because it would be too lopsided with Nancy and Jon not respecting Steve, Steve and Nancy having too much history, and Steve and Jon not liking each other.

Nine's clothes

Technically Prime!Tails is modern Tails, and since modern Tails has official art/renders of himself in different clothing, Prime!Tails has also likely worn other clothes outside of his usual clothes.

That's all to say that Prime!Tails to me is no stranger to shirts or pants. So while he doesn't wear full outfits often, I don't think he'd mind Nine's clothes. Honestly, I think (minor design differences aside) he would probably enjoy looking in the mirror thinking about how much like Nine he looks and seeing if he can fool anyone into believing he's Nine.

Also I...kind of like to imagine Tails wearing Nine's vest shirt thing whenever they sleep in the same place together. I think it'd annoy Nine a bit at first but like...boyfriend jacket situation 🥺👉👈

Sails' clothes

Sshshsb I can imagine Tails trying them on for the first time like "So this is what I would like as a pirate! Arrrgh". Essentially, I'd think he'd have fun with it, probably play pirate for a bit. Plus, since he and Sails look pretty similar, I think it would be funny if they trained each other in their own dialects to pull a switcheroo move for fun.

All in all, I think Tails would find some of the choices unnecessary or weird (at least for when he wears Sails' clothes), but I can see him keep the outfit in mind in the event he needs to dress up in a different outfit for some reason or needs inspiration for a pirate costume. Sails also has this weird sorta little jacket thing so...boyfriend jacket again👉👈

Mangey's clothes

I think he'd try his clothes on once, but I don't think he'd love it as much. Ultimately, out of the three, Mangey has the least clothing it seems like, and anything that's not his gloves is made out of leaves of some sort. So I think Tails would enjoy analyzing his outfit so he could make himself clothes in some hypothetical event that may never happen where he ends up on a deserted island without clothes. Even though the details of clothes probably really don't matter to Mangey much as long as they get the job done, I can see Tails trying to convince Mangey to wear something else. However, I don't see Prime Tails as someone who'd be a clothes designer expert, and he'd be hard pressed to get Mangey to wear something else regularly. So I think after futile attempts, at best he'd just succeed in making Mangey's current outfit more durable and just try not to worry about it all anymore.

Nine

Tails' clothes

You are getting him to do this like. Twice at most, for two reasons.

First, early in the relationship I think Nine would still have hangups on his similarities to Tails, so wearing Tails' clothes and seeing how much he looks like him makes him feel...a number of things, most of which he doesn't like.

Second, idk, I think Nine would feel exposed without the clothes he usually wears. Part of this is due to how he grew up, of course. Nine wore his usual clothes in that brief backstory moment in Prime Episode 1, so while there's not necessarily a confirmation, it's not a big stretch to assume he grew up wearing full clothing. Plus, multiple others in New Yoke can be seeing wearing more clothing/accessories than just gloves or shoes if not full clothing (like New Yoke!Big). So I think he's sort of just used to wearing full clothing and feels weird about it. The other part of this is that I personally see him feeling a bit awkward if not weird about his body, so he's not really confident even doing something small like losing the shorts or his top. I also happen to like headcanoning Nine as transmasc, so (while that's no confirmation of anything for this au) do with that what you will

I think the only times this is happening if Nine is convinced to swap clothes with Tails/loses a dare or game and has to, and/or if someone gets him to agree to try swapping places with Tails to see if anyone's fooled by it. Only two times I can see it.

Sails' clothes

Like with Tails' clothes, I can see him just feeling weirdly exposed about it all. Since Sails' outfit has the most coverage out of the three, I think he wouldn't mind wearing Sails' outfit as much as the others and one would have an easier time convincing Nine to wear it. But he would still be uncomfortable about it (while finding some choices in the outfit unnecessary or weird the same way Tails does). I think he'd be more comfortable wearing Sails' outfit if he had pants/shorts to wear with it or an undershirt at least.

I think Nine is someone who could come to like the "boyfriend jacket" idea like Tails, but ultimately wouldn't be incredibly keen on this for any of the variants usual wear. If Sails had a sweater or coat or something then yeah, okay. You could catch him wearing it and taking in his boyfriend's scent. But the jacket thing from his usual wear? Not his favorite.

Mangey's clothes

At most you will get him to wear it exactly once (see the Tails' clothes section for more detail). That one time would just be because someone convinced him or because for some reason or another he has to try it on. There's barely more clothing than what Tails wears when it comes to Mangey's outfit, so I think Nine would feel pretty uncomfortable and exposed about it.

I can see him taking interest in how the clothes were made (like the shoes for example) and keeping it in mind like Tails would, but that's about it.

All in all, while Nine would find all three of the other's clothes to just be uncomfortable and also not really understand how they walk around like that, he ultimately leaves them to their own devices and doesn't care what they wear.

Sails

Tails' clothes

I think being without certain accessories he keeps on would be a bit weird for him, but I don't think he'd mind it too horribly much. While he prefers his own clothes, it's also definitely not a bad thing that one of his boyfriends has decent quality clothes he can wear if he ever needs an emergency outfit change I guess (of course that's assuming Sails wouldn't keep a change of his own gloves at least, but I digress).

If anything, since Tails' regular outfit doesn't consist of a lot, I think the most interest he'd have in dressing up like Tails would be to pull some switcheroos and see if he can convince certain people that he's Tails.

Nine's clothes

I think he'd definitely get some enjoyment out of pretending to act like Nine (whether that's teasing him some or seeing if he can convince others that he's Nine for fun). I don't think it would be his favorite outfit to wear (bit restricting feeling maybe) but he's not necessarily opposed to wearing it. Like Tails, though, I can see him stealing Nine's shirt vest thing. While Tails usually does it in the comforting safety of the home, I can see Sails being a bit more bold in wearing his boyfriend's "jacket" around outside the lab or inside a home. Like with Tails' situation, it would doubtless annoy Nine for a while (but not forever).

Mangey's clothes

I think compared to Nine and Tails he'd probably be the most comfortable in Mangey's outfit. I don't think it would be the most fun for him to dress up in, but I think it's an outfit he could handle wearing like for days on end for example. If Mangey made stuff like the shoes himself, I can see Sails complimenting him on his work and learning from it just in case he needs the knowledge.

They're not that different from his usual wear in terms of how much clothing is there, but I think while you could get him in the clothes on occasion he doesn't really enjoy it. The gloves are one thing and I think the shoes are something he'd like looking at, but not to wear. He's the type of fox who wears the same kind of clothes all the time and is probably a bit picky.

But again since Tails' outfit isn't really restricting you could convince him to do it on occasion

Nine's clothes

You may get him to dress like Nine once or twice and only for fun, but this fox does not love wearing a lot of clothing. I think wearing Nine's clothes it would feel weird in general, a bit restricting, and I can see it being a bit of a texture nightmare for him (even just with there being so much more than he usually wears).

However, I think he is someone who wouldn't mind wearing around Nine's shirt vest thing as a boyfriend jacket or like sleeping on a pile of his clothes. Mangey is not immune to the urge to smell like/breathe in that boyfriend smell.

Sails' clothes

I think he would be more comfortable than he is in Nine's clothes and find more enjoyment than he does with Tails' clothes. So I think on occasion you'd get him to fully dress up as Sails.

However, I think there are certain things (like how Mangey is with Tails' shoes) that he'd rather look at than wear. So more often than not I think he'd put on Sails' belt, bandana, or jacket thing whenever he wants to dress up like him or have the comfort of wearing his stuff. Like with Nine, I think he'd be known to steal the jacket thing sometimes (more than he does with Nine's shirt vest thing), or sleep with some of Sails' clothes/accessory items. He is not immune to deriving comfort from/pretending someone he cares about is with them by wearing or holding their stuff and breathing in their scent.

Is it weird that I wish there were more interviews of Al or Ed talking about growing up multiracial? There's probably a lot of truama there on the subject for them (especially the times they grew up in Amsterdam and the the US) but it's such an interesting part of their history. Like the part in Monk's book where in Amsterdam they had family visit and there was a clear divide between the Dutch and Indonesian parts of their family and a whole lot of tension in the room but the boys were so use to it that it didn't phase them. I read that and kinda felt it cause I'm also biracial and times are different sure but I still feel some unspoken tension when both sides of my family (rarely) are together..

Don't get me wrong! I don't want Alex to talk about something that's personal or by now he probably figures doesn't matter anyways, like not like that.

In general I feel like on the surface a lot of people don't realize how diverse Rock and Roll has been in the past, there's quite a few multiracial and POC musicians, at least more than I think someone who isn't into the genre would have thought

Not weird at all! I also wish there were more instances where they talked about it 😔 it'd be so interesting to get the experience through their side of the spectrum. That's why I'm so sad he most likely never will, but Alex writing a book would be so 😩😩😩, I'd give up an EYEBROW FOR THAT!

I'm also biracial and felt that part of the book too 😭 it's so... awkward watching the different cultures clash but still have to 'tolerate' each other if that makes sense.

I do also think lots of people aren't aware of their heritage, or choose to sort of just...brush past it. Pretty similarly like they do to Freddie Mercury! And you're right, Alex is probably thinking "who the hells gonna care if I talked about it" 😭☠️ BABE WE WOULD CARE...

Rock is definitely very diverse and I believe it always has been, it's just when the diversity isn't in the limelight, people jump to the conclusion it never existed.

Five Nights at Freddy's Movie: The Core of a Masterpiece Trapped in an Awkward Shell

No Spoiler Version: I really liked the movie. It has an incredibly strong thematic core about being trapped by the past and how that can cloud and destroy your present and future despite it being subtler than usual about that. The main characters feel surprisingly grounded and it knows when to cut loose a bit with the atmosphere for the sake of its storytelling. It's actually an incredibly compelling family drama.

It is not a horror movie though except for its last MAYBE twenty percent. It's much more interested in moody introspection and exploring the main character than trying to scare the audience. If not for the finale, it'd arguably just be using horror elements to help hammer in home the toxic relationship with the past. But this is a Five Nights at Freddy's movie so it needs to be horror and most of the awkward elements of the movie are tied to having to either fit into that genre or to have to bend to franchise lore rather than allowing the conclusion that would be thematically satisfying.

It's done with enough with enough charisma to allow the awkward elements to roll off me for the most part and I still liked the ending even if it wasn't thematically strong. It's a very good and I think people are dismissing it as campy and the like just because it does have those awkward elements when the core story, and how it's told, are pretty serious minus one or two scenes. So yeah, check it out!

So let's start with the strongest element and the core of the movie: Mike's journey and arc in general is very compelling to me but there's not a lot to spoil besides the genuinely nice element that it's subtle. It takes a while to realize the theme they're going for with it and I didn't fully click on it until the thematic climax. When he realizes that by focusing on the past, he'll lose another sibling just like he did before.

But that's actually the ingenuity of his dreams. Because he has a sympathetic desire on the face of it, wanting to stop a person who kidnaps children and bring them to justice, he feels kind of justified at first. It's something you'd honestly like to see put right... But it's still revenge. It's still prioritizing the harm of the past instead of even trying to move on and focus on that which in the present you care about.

And thus the thematic finale of the movie is when Mike realizes that and rebels against the ghost children and they try to kill him. His escape is his victory and weirdly enough, it makes it so that following closer to the games... Would have been more satisfying. Mike burns down Freddy's at the end of the first game. Even Afton early on in the movie says the owner isn't willing to let it go so it technically holds a toxic grip on more than just Mike and he would have rid the world of an overall toxic blight from the past on the world and the children within who have decided that eternal play is worth any price. Not willing to let go of the fun they had here and so trying to recreate that memory until it all turns to smoke.

You did see I mentioned Afton though, right? Well, yeah, this is a FNAF movie and Afton is the mustache twirling hyper bad guy of the series, complete with slasher levels of strength and invulnerability while in the Springtrap suit (the movie implies he is still alive WEEKS after being impaled three times into his side). We get him extremely early on without his name as a career counselor that gets Mike the job and there's actually some good foreshadowing there of him knowing Mike and having kidnapped his brother which as far as I can tell, besides the fact that Freddy's doesn't burn, is probably the largest departure from the games but I don't know cause I haven't kept up since Sister Location and I never read any of the books. But then he's just gone for what at least feels like almost an hour.

And then they bring him back as the uber villian. The mastermind of it all. The only reason the children would hurt ANYONE which... is questionable with how the movie portrays them. But he can make them hurt anyone because of honeyed and a single picture on the wall that hides the truth! If it had been built up and this story was more about control and manipulation and the trauma we gain from those trying to wrangle us, it could have worked. His daughter is a main character in the movie and does talk about how how he raised her having left scars that we're supposed to cheer for her overcoming when she comes in the end... And mostly stalls for time because her contribution is minimal except to give Mike an arsenal to fight with AFTER the thematic climax happens.

That's right: Mike's arc ends and then we get a like five minute exposition dump on Afton while his sister is abducted by Golden Freddy so Afton can have another spirit child doing his bidding. It's actually done well enough to not be awful but it is a HARD slam on the breaks and because this whole movie has struggled as a horror movie, it's not finally getting the answer to beating the slasher villain or the monster, it's a weird pivot that the movie never really recovers from, even if when Afton shows up in the Springtrap suit, his movements and the framing are creepy as hell. Then he takes off the helmet and it's far less unfortunately as he becomes purely a dude in a mech suit.

He isn't the only problem element but the other one works better for the family focus of the movie. You can also see why it exists from a horror perspective because the problem with a FNAF movie conceptually is that the security guard is the main character and you can't just kill him. So little to no body count until the end. So how do you fix that?

With an evil aunt who wants Mike's sister just for that sweet sweet government money and the people she hires on the cheap to wreck Freddy's. It honestly feels like one of those 90s kids movie plots that people mock nowadays where the only motivation is greed and everyone is an idiot. Plus side, besides Max, the sequence is FUN. It's pure B horror, probably influenced by it allowing the movie to effectively do a bunch of the scares from the games because every kill on this group besides the last (which is... Bizarre in how it's done honestly and definitely meant to be comedic despite being properly built up horror) is done in a forward facing, first person jump scare. It's literally just like one of the games and as someone who was a fan I really liked that actually.

It also theoretically could have tied into other elements better. The aunt's custody case is built up as why Mike would stay for five nights. That he needs the job or he loses his sister. It is explicitly what forces him to take the job... but the conflict is he doesn't do nights because that's when he's doing his dream stuff and even at Freddy's he's slacking on the job for the sake of continuing his dream stuff because again: He's letting the present die to chase the past. Which works... But it doesn't feel like it pays off in any way either because of it. The aunt doesn't even get a jumpscare kill or anything like that to justify it as she's killed off screen by Golden Freddy, though at least we do get to see her legs to confirm she died.

And that's kind of overall my problem with the movie. The original story it's telling in the middle is actually pretty good and compelling and it has the proper build and payoff you want in a story. However, everything tied to serving the franchise or the horror elements, don't have that. They either get built up but then have no thematic conclusion or they don't have that build up and so their themes can't feel like they naturally fit into the story, even if there's an attempt.

It makes me wonder if there's a version of this, divorced from Freddy's, that could have been a masterpiece. Something horror fans genuinely keep with themselves than the novelty that I think most people are treating it. Then again, maybe I liked it for how much it's not a horror film because I'm not a horror fan for the most part.

But I DID like it and I think it's genuinely a really good movie, just don't expect it to be super campy like I had it built up as or very scary like one might expect from a horror movie. It only uses those elements as it has to and you can feel that, for better and for worse.

And it was pretty awkward because everyone else is like 13-15 and I'm like 16 turning 17, but I managed to get along and this place might be my new home. As for my dad? I checked the flat and its completely abandoned. I called the police and they said that they have a missing person's report and have to do something with that flat. And it was my dad who's missing, to be honest. I could care less about him, whatever happens I'm glad he's gone."

Lol I do think we're not gonna see eye to eye on this because of my experience witnessing those situations but that's fine!

To clarify couple of points though

- I do not think that in the year since the rejection he did what I said he should do before trying to restart a close friendship. In fact he was on a self destructive path there for a while. He was kinda lashing out at Karuta. But I think his match with Arata set him straight. So I do think he made some progress when it comes to his relationship with Arata, but when it comes to Chihaya I don't think he did at all. That's why I was so sure that he wasn't over her : his behavior was not that of someone coping with rejection in a healthy way. He accepted that she rejected him and gave up on pursuing her and put some distance , but those alone do not mean that he is coping well, it could be the opposite. In his case I dont think he made much progress if any.

- chihaya seeing him with someone wasn't meant to be a particularly important thing. It was an example among others that shows her that he has a cool head now, confidence and independence and most importantly a support system that does not rely on her. We've been focusing on Taichi's perspective for the sake of conversation but let's not forget that the feeling of guilt that people on her side of the equation can feel in those situation is pretty toxic. It's really important that she doesn't feel pressured one way or the other. If he's unhappy she could feel responsible for that, if he's reliant on her(which usually happens in close friendships) for support she can feel pressured to be too nice, and on the other hand she would fear that if she's too nice it would look like she's leading him on, she could also feel hesitant to rely on him and accept his support for herself because it would feel selfish after rejecting him (regardless of its true). This toxicity could manifest in many different ways and thats why I think its best that she sees him as, again, confident, happy, independent and with a system of support that does not rely on her. (At least not only or mainly on her)

- lastly as to the Arata being with Chihaya constituting a major blow, maybe but I doubt it. He already knows and maybe always known or at least believed that she loves Arata (and he knows that he loves her) so although the reality of it might be tough its not something unexpected at least.

I’m sorry for replying to this so late! I finally have some time spared from homework, thank goodness. 😭

I definitely think it’s true his relationship with Arata is on a straighter path to resolution at the moment than is his relationship with Chihaya (especially given the chapter that just came out on Sunday), but at the same time, I guess that’s why I feel like it’s necessary for them to talk things out and clear the air. There’s been a few very heartfelt moments between the two of them since he left the club—the reunion at Nationals, obviously, and the time he’s over at her house and helps her understand that she needs to do the things she doesn’t want to in order to do the things she does want to, him wishing for her to become best in the world after the Qualifiers are over, even the little aside where she and the club got him the special mattress—but obviously those moments still felt distanced in a sense, and I feel like that’s because they were still failing to actually explicitly address the rift that had been created between them and its causes. They both had been (Taichi) or are (Chihaya) aware of those causes by now, but of course it’s easier said than done to actually get down to it and talk about how and why their relationship fractured. I do agree that that’s not going to be something resolved in the blink of an eye and will likely take time and still some careful treading from the both of them, but I don’t think prolonging the lack of confrontation (for lack of a better word) between them is going to necessarily help the situation either? I feel like they at least need to sit down and verbalize to each other how much they missed each other’s company or that they’re sorry for so and so thing, etc. And maybe after that, they’ll still need some distance to properly mend that rift and allow the wound to fully air out, but I do think addressing it explicitly will help in doing so, because they’d at least be on a somewhat similar (if not the same) page about where they want the relationship between them to go. I guess that could appear to be a tall order considering the manga feels like it’s in its final arc, but there’s also the two months left of their school year, and I don’t think Suetsugu would skip over them entirely. Maybe summer vacation could also be a good time for the two of them to have that healthy distance from each other but with a positive outlook in mind, and then after they start attending classes and such they might find it easier to fully mend that rift because they’d also have started making connections with other people. At the least I don’t think Suetsugu’s going to leave their relationship entirely hanging before the series is over. I feel like resolving the rifts between the various relationships within the trio is really important to her and something she wants to emphasize before it’s all over and before they officially move into “adulthood”.

when DION went to the border to dispose of the pedelian guards just like his father had ordered him to, he didn't expect to witness you falling from the sky. for the first time in his life, he was surprised - and the fact that he felt an emotion compelled him to catch you in his arms.

the moment you realised that you had stopped falling, you opened your eyes and nearly screamed. even though dion was wearing a hood and a half face mask, you recognised his bright red eyes immediately. of all the possible characters in the manhwa, it had to be dion agriche who found you first; you didn't know if you should squeal in joy since your favourite villain is carrying you like a princess, or if you should quake in fear at the likelihood of him taking you prisoner.

as you were occupied with doing mental gymnastics, he silently observed you, head cocked slightly to one side. he thought it was interesting that you didn't try to resist him or at least shout for help (both of which are futile), considering the dangerous situation you're in. any normal person would be scared especially when surrounded by piles of corpses.

you could tell that dion was weighing his options of either killing you since you're a witness, or keeping you in one of the agriche residence's prison cells until he has a use for you. desperate to live, you impulsively yanked his mask down and tugged his head towards you, causing his lips to smash against yours. his eyes widened.

"why did you do that?" he asked when you pulled away.

"because... i love you!" you exclaimed, giving him the sweetest smile you could muster. you learnt from another manhwa that the best way to survive an encounter with a dangerous person is to catch them off-guard with a love confession! you're not exactly lying about your love for dion anyway, and the consequences of this will be a future you problem.

"even though i could kill you right now?"

"i feel a certain excitement knowing that my life and death are in your hands."

"... interesting. it'd be a waste to have you dead," dion said with mirth. maybe you could solve his problem of needing a wife to continue the agriche bloodline in the future, as all of the women he's met/been introduced to so far are boring. he needed someone who could add a little fun and excitement to his mundane, humdrum life, and you seem to be the right person to do so. before you could say anything else, dion swiftly knocked you out.

... and that's how you found yourself chained to dion's bed with a collar around your neck. everyone, especially roxanne, was surprised to see him strutting inside the manor with your unconscious self slung over his shoulder earlier, and when he had claimed that you're the woman he wishes to marry, lante allowed him to keep you. as long as you have a pretty face and can give birth to children who'd make fine agriches, lante doesn't care who dion chooses as his bride.

dion took his father's permission too literally and keeps you in his room like a pet. still, he takes good care of you by feeding you well and letting you sleep on the same bed as him. it can be a little awkward sharing a bed with dion because he tends to hug you very tightly in his sleep, as if he doesn't want to give you any room for escape.

he doesn't let you roam around the manor alone because of jeremy; dion knows that he hates him, and would rather not have you run into any problems involving his moody half-brother. it'd be troublesome too if jeremy somehow takes a liking to you because dion is not fond of sharing what's supposed to be his in the first place.

dion is possessive of you, and his possessiveness increased tenfold after he was exposed to your gentle side. when he returned from an errand drenched in blood one day, you didn't hide how worried you were for him. even though the collar limited your distance from the bed, you kept trying to reach for him as he slumped on the floor. it didn't show on his face, but he was exhausted; he couldn't look at you properly and only heard you calling his name frantically...

when he finally came to, he found himself resting on your lap, your hand gently stroking his forehead. relief washed over you when you noticed that he's awake, and you cupped his cheeks.

"you're awake! don't collapse on me like that ever again, i almost got a heart attack-"

as he leaned into one of your palms with his eyes closed, dion has decided. a sweet and gentle person like you is not suited for the harsh world outside, but as long as you stay by his side and continue showering him with your affection, he'll make sure that no harm will come to his little butterfly. if anyone tries to take you away from him, he won't stop at just cutting off the hand that dared to touch what's his; he'll torture them by giving them a slow, painful death.

"hey (y/n), are you bored? i brought you some books that you might like!" jeremy exclaimed as he dumped a pile of books on the bed you're sitting on.

well, that's easy enough. jeremy is your favourite character in the manhwa, and since he's given you the green light, you'll take full advantage of it to shower him with affection. in return, he'll always be there to protect you and will even defend your mistakes.

during the social event where the five families gather together, jeremy forbade you from attending any of the balls. instead, he made you stay with roxanne in her room to shield you from the prying eyes of other men and to also hide you from the blue pedelian. that didn't stop you from sneaking into the ballroom when roxanne wasn't looking though. you were not going to waste your only chance of getting a glimpse of the handsome male leads of "the flower of hell" after all!

however, you got caught hiding behind a potted plant by noel vertium, who was enamoured of you at first sight. jeremy spotted you just as noel was about to approach you, and he was able to reach you first. with a possessive grip around your waist, he pressed you against his chest and glared at noel, who soon got dragged away by his aide.

Hey I know this is kind of random but what do you think of all the hero costumes (or at least the four new ones)? Also if you want you also give any changes you would make to them.

Majority range from basic/boring to just... bad. Design wise, this show isn't the most creative and honestly, that's the biggest change I'd vote for. Make the suits more actual clothes, and give them padding and armor that makes sense, ESPECIALLY to the girls. Majority of these girls are literally in skintight suits and a lot of them are 14 yo. It's pretty gross.

Ladybug herself has the worst design, the LC upgrade is an improvement, but it'd be nice to see some padding or armor to her. Same goes for Scarbella. Much better visially, but still would like some sort of armor on her as ladybugs are an armored beetle. Mister Bug probably has best design in my opinion visually and in actuality. But that's not surprising as he's a male hero and they put effort in the boys' outfits.

Chat Noir's fine. Maybe could use a little more extra detail or flare but overall he's good. Catwalker I like more but I wish he had a more tuxedo cat look to him. Lady Noire could've used a little more to her design wise, and some padding as some shots she looks like she's wearing a skintight suit.

Rena Rouge kinda hurts to look at and I like her concept design more, though that also looks like a skintight suit. At least RR has a but of a coat theme going on. A very tight one with a bigger chest to go with it...

Queen Bee I actually like design wise, but I don't like the stripes in her hair. Vesperia I like the suit itself, but everything above the shoulders I just... I can't get into it. It's just kinda awkward? I couldn't tell you why.

Jade Turtle and Carapace, very solid. I dread the day we see a girl turtle hero though...

Multimouse feels unfinished and needs more to her, the base that's there I like but she feels unfinished design wise. @zoe-oneesama update to her design I really like. Polymouse at least has a jacket with a hoodie, but there's still that tight skinsuit that you can see under it...

Minotaurox I feel like they didn't quite know what to do with Ivan as a hero. Like it's not bad but it's not great.

Tigress Purple is ok, but same issue as all the other girls. Same for Bunnyx. Ryuuko is probably the worst designed female hero and I am so sorry for Kagami and dragons. What should be easily epic and awesome is bland and uncomfortable to look at.

Body wise, Aspik is good but I hate that egghead. Viperion feels over designed? Too many details? Also, why do they not like to give reptile based miraculous tails? Turtle I can get skipping out on a tail but Snake and Dragon??? No tail??????

Pegasus needs more white in his suit or something to break it up, I thought it was just a straight up black suit with no details on it. And have his skin match with Max more.

Caprikid I actually like design wise. I just wish Nathaniel would wear his miraculous like a normal person. Cause just... wut???

Rooster Bold is also pretty good, but that design just doesn't click with Marc. It felt like they had their design down more than it matching the character they're tying it to. And I will add, the miraculous itself looks like it's ready to fall off his/their thumb.

Miss Tracker and Flairmidable both have pretty lackluster and uninspired designs.

You know, I think Pigella probably has the best design as a girl hero, drawback though is that I couldn't look at her design and tell you, "Yeah! That's a pig themed hero!" Otherwise Pigella is very cute.

They start dating after the anime ends.

Everyone assumed Kid was gay or aro. Liz bet money on aro while Tsu bet on gay. Tsu won. Liz shook kid for ten minutes straight cause she lost 10 bucks on that bet.

BlackStar started having a crush when they fought for the second time and Kid wrecked his shit.

BlackStar was scared of the same thing but he would never admit it in a million years. He was scared Kid would die or he would. When Kid was hit and collapsed, he said that it’d take more to take him out but he was genuinely scared.

BlackStar was the one to ask him out but both kinda fumbled. BlackStar had exclaimed to the friend group that he needed Kid for something and then they had privacy. Kid didn’t understand at first and assumed Star needed another fight to right himself. But Star just fumbles with his hands for a moment before looking up and yelling in Kid’s face.

“BE MY GOD THING!”

Kid is so damn confused. He starts laughing. He starts actually crying from laughing but he needs to find a way to answer because he knows what Star means. He knows exactly what he means. But Star thinks he’s rejecting him. But he can not stop laughing.

Soon enough Star is about to just knock this dude out due to embarrassment and anger. But Kid grabs his shoulder and yells.

Kid tries to find a way to hold hands with Star that won’t trigger his mental state. They decide on every day they switch sides. One day is left, one day is right, etc, etc. When with the group, Death the Kid and Star are in the middle of Liz and Patty. Liz is next to Star and Patty is next to Kid. He feels that it’s symmetrical.

Star insists on boasting to the while school that he’s dating god. Kid never tells him to be quiet. He simply accepts it.

Their go-to dates are training and then getting food, stargazing, or going to the library. Both enjoy the first since it’s great practice. The second is more for BlackStar. He hyperfixates on the stars and constellations, coming up with crazier versions of their original one. Kid likes listening to him and making connections to the original stories in his mind. The library is more for Kid. He will look for things to read while searching for something to intrigue BlackStar. They always have at least one book for both of them.

Both are pretty okay with PDA. BlackStar moreso. He’ll hold Kid’s hand, mess up his hair, and give him kisses. Kid will hold his hand, fix Star’s collar, and remind him of stuff. This is their love language, reminding each other and teasing each other.

Manga(THAT MEANS SPOILERS! LOVE YALL)

Yes, the bets still happen.

Kid asks Blackstar out by accident. Well, he wanted to ask him out, but not in a fit of anger and stress.

Basically, with him now in control of school and such, he has to have people handle representation. Maka & Soul are his go-to but with more aggressive groups he sometimes sends Star since he’ll understand their points of view and can convince them the DWMA does as well. Once, after a communication error that basically has BlackStar saying the DWMA will help with a almost war, Kid is very stressed since he has to fix this now.

Kid heard how it turned out from the slightly dense BlackStar and screams, “IF I DIDNT WANT TO KISS YOU I’D KILL YOU BLACKSTAR!”

Afterwards everything is silent. Star is dumbfounded by this while Tsubaki & Patty are giggling. Liz and Kid are processing what he said. Liz screams in joy while Kid screams in frustration.

Tsubaki and Liz help the two set up a date. They’re supposed to go out after Kid gets off work and walk around the city.

Kid passes out from exhaustion when he’s supposed to leave. BlackStar goes to meet him and ends up carrying him back to the mansion while ranting and raving to Soul. Soul is amused.

The date becomes a, “You’re still human kinda so you need genuine rest and relaxation and I’m not taking no for an answer”. BlackStar indeed does not take no for an answer.

The dates they go on ate pretty much the same as anime portion.

PDA is similar too bit it’s far less one-sided in the boasting department. Kid is well known amongst the student body for mentioning his boyfriend in random moments. Those two are annoying. They don’t shut up.

They’re both adorable though. Their friend group makes Star Wars references constantly and Kid takes it as an amazingly well thought out joke. BlackStar doesn’t get it for a while. Once he does, he’s pissy about it. But he enjoys it since it’s a joke befitting a god like him.

Kid sometimes has to be dragged home by one of/all of his friends. BlackStar takes over that. He may be a Shinigami but he isn’t like his father. He’s still human in most ways so he needs to treat his body properly. Just because he’s immortal doesn’t mean he’s invincible. He still needs fuckin sleep.

They always agree to give him 8 more minutes just so he won’t complain much and give in.

BlackStar gives him 0. He either gets up and walks home with him or he is dragged back.

It’s out of love though, all of them want the best for Kid.

BlackStar travels with Tsubaki a lot for training. Kid checks on him through the mirror he keeps on him. For work and personal reasons. Half the time it’s to call before bed and chat about stupid stuff.

Tsubaki doesn’t mind, she gets to tell Liz goodnight by the end so all is well.

“Boy’s night” is fucking hilarious. Soul is either bullied for being single or bullying the two of them for being dumb.

Ok I need to know when Janeway has the “oh shit” moment in terms of her feelings about Chakotay. Like when does she realize she loves him and then things stop being awkward between them?

This is such a great question and quite honestly I love hearing about so many people's different impressions of when this would be. I can't even say that I hold my own opinion as "doctrine" for our AU because I love keeping this moment open and up to interpretation.

Like I love what I'd imagine to be the most instinctive response to this which would probably be Resolutions in which we see Kathryn slowly begin to accept and almost find content in her circumstances of living a rather stagnant, domestic, and mundane life with her First Officer; but to me Resolutions is SO EARLY and so much that happens between them later on in the series I find tends to work against the idea that she'd carry lasting and resonating feelings toward Chakotay at that point in time. If anything, Resolutions works to me as a metaphorical "planting of the seed" where she might briefly humor herself with the idea of settling down with this man, but is quick (Yet pained!) to set it aside once they are rescued from New Earth and resume their formal airs with one another on Voyager.

In talking with Riley (and-to-you-its-just-words) who at least in regards to her Threshold AU content has it that the two develop a relationship breaking certain "parameters" while onboard Voyager and inquiring after her own thoughts on the matter, I thiiiink she said it'd happen around the season four area of time surrounding some pretty pivotal circumstances like Scorpion and Killing Game where the two have been seeing each other be thrown into some life-threatening situations and have to chew on the repercussions of that. That's also around the time that Kathryn forcefully has to give up on the idea that Mark is still in the picture (Which, he is not). In tickling with this idea I fancied the thought of Night in season five, where Chakotay consoles her that she's not alone in her guilt and grief and inevitably she is pulled out of her slump. I could easily see them picking up a relationship around that time. :)

When it comes down to it though, I am QUITE HONESTLY most inclined to believe that this moment happens after she's already lost Chakotay (To Seven) and in that, all chances of getting him back. Because I think she is THAT STUBBORN with herself. So post-Endgame. Like I think it would take her future self telling her she loses Chakotay in more ways than one, and then beginning to experience it herself, followed by her feeling some odd, seemingly unprompted frustrations and projected anger toward him without really knowing why. Like I think she'd have to sit on this for a while. It does not click to her why seeing him and Seven together makes her act and feel the way that she does. I think she'd go so far as to fall into her work so deeply, impulsively accepting promotion and maintaining the busiest and most occupying schedule she can hope to achieve. All to avoid ruminating over her very unprofessional feelings toward her shipmates' relationship. I don't know when exactly it'd hit her, but obviously if we're following book canon this goes so far as to having her never confess her feelings to him EVER (Prior to book events in Full Circle). I think she'd be scared to, for how long it's taken her, I think she'd fear he doesn't love her anymore or never did, 'cause she's a LITTLE oblivious. They are simply the closest of companions after all and she wouldn't want to tamper or break their bond by making things awkward between them.

I think they are simply awkward people at heart. And unfortunately you have a very stubborn, headstrong, and oblivious lady, who unknowingly loves a IMMENSELY patient guy who dotes and fawns over his super crush to such a degree as not to pressure her or scare her away with FEELINGS, so they are basically two rocks who wanna kiss but they are rocks. They'll get there they're just slow. :)

When Tim first came to Dick for advice, he was honored. He tries to remember that feeling. 

“—he’s like, a total bad boy, right?” Tim asks in a line that Dick cannot believe he’s hearing in real life. What does “bad boy” even mean? Jason is a literature nerd who sometimes kills people. 

“Right,” is what he says out loud. 

“And he always flirts with everyone! How am I supposed to know if it’s special for me?” Tim’s pacing up and down the cave. 

Dick has never seen Jason being particularly flirty, but, again, he’s trying to be supportive here. “Maybe you need to look at other things.” 

“Like what?” 

“His actions. Does he do anything to show you that he cares?” 

Tim stops. “He did bring me food that one time.” 

Yes. Dick knows. Tim didn’t shut up about it for five whole days. “Yes,” he says encouragingly. “And doesn’t he make you tea, too?” 

“Every night.” There’s a small smile on Tim’s face. “’Cause I get cold.” 

“See. The best I get is a snide comment about dress code,” Dick chuckles. “He cares about you, and in a different way than about the rest of us.”  

“Okay.” Tim takes a deep breath. “Okay. I’m gonna ask him out.”

Roy abruptly feels a little bit bad for ratting his friend out like that. On the other hand, he’d really like not to listen to soliloquies about Tim’s eyes anymore. “Oh, yeah. I’ve never seen him so gone on someone before.” He pauses. “Too?” 

“Yeah, Tim has no idea what he’s doing.” Dick groans. “This is never gonna resolve, is it?” 

“Maybe work something like ‘Jay is totally a shy dork who acts tough, so you should kiss him’ into your next conversation,” Roy suggests.

In response, Dick looks more thoughtful than the suggestion really deserves. “You know… I think Tim knows that about Jason. All he ever gushes about is how smart Jason is and how thoughtful and awkward and—well, Tim thinks he’s hot, too, but. He doesn’t have any illusions, I think.” 

“Oh, good, cause Jay thinks Tim is like, the best guy to ever live, which, you know, he’s clearly wrong—“Roy gives Dick a significant look and is rewarded by a slight blush. “—and also he keeps on going on about how funny and nerdy he is. So.” 

Dick groans. “God, they’re cute.” 

As if on cue, Dick’s phone buzzes. He glances over, just to see it’s from Tim. Oh, speaking of the devil. 

“Let me check—“Just as Dick reaches out to check the content, Roy’s phone starts ringing up a storm. 

The redhead mouths “Jay” as he takes the call and puts it on speaker.

Walker 1.14

This was good- it is kinda noticeable that this episode was not in the original plans for the season because remember this season was supposed to wrap up with episode 13 then they got picked up for more epis, so it has this slight filler-ish/bonus episode feel to it in my opinion. But it was good, it's like a little day in the life of these characters which made for a pretty chill hour of tv; nothing too exciting or massive happens but time was evenly divided between the characters and we see some of the different storylines being touched upon.

So what's happening in this episode...

The family is still trying to cope with the traumatic experience they went through and Hoyt's death. All of them are a mess, Stella is being consumed by guilt cause she feels like it's her fault, Abeline wants to protect her family, Bonham is losing himself in fixing up the ranch, Liam's not sure he wants to continue his campaign, August wants to cling to the few things his uncle left behind, Cordell and Geri are also dealing with guilt, and even Micki gets kind of caught up in this because Cordell took a leave of absence so she is temporarily left without a partner which makes her be passive aggressive to Cordell because she's too used to him being there.

Throughout the episode we see their grief and how they're dealing with things; Geri found out Hoyt was in the process of purchasing a plot of land but not just any piece of land it was one he and Geri had passed by once and she had commented it'd be a nice place to settle down 😭 Hoyt was too good for you Geri, he was too good for you.

Anyways, the deal fell through when Hoyt passed but he still had some personal belongings there that Geri had to go pick up before the new owners arrive so she asks Cordell to help her out and tells him to bring the kids along cause maybe the change of scenery will help them.

So, he signs his leave of absence, they take off and...what Hoyt left was 4 horses...and an alpaca they thought was a llama which Cordell wasn't exactly thrilled about he even tried to get rid of the alpaca and that was a whole thing because these are one of the few things Hoyt left behind so the kids, especially August, are adamant about keeping these animals that belonged to the uncle they loved, and lost in a very traumatic way. Cordell ends up having a change of heart, he realizes he was wrong to give away the alpaca so he goes to find it and turns out the alpaca is a girl and was in labor, she had a baby girl... which they end up naming Hoyt.

There's a couple moments between Cordell and Geri cause you know they still have that awkwardness of the kiss they shared and then Hoyt's death made things worse and I must say after everything that has happened I am so on the the nope train when it comes to those two hooking up, no thank you I don't like it, I don't want it. It just seems inappropriate and wrong.

Also, somehow Trevor is still in contact with Stella, I feel like there should be lawyers on either side advising against that, or at the very least somebody telling her to change her phone. But she ends up taking advice that Geri had given her, and she tells him she can't visit, that she needs to let go of the past and tells him goodbye. Good for you, Stella.

There is a sort of case in this episode; a veteran that Trey has PT with went missing and since he knows the dude well and he was one of the last people he was seen with Captain James asks him to help out, and Micki volunteers as well so we get to see a bit of Trey and Micki working together which was really nice. The case was pretty predictable, the person that went missing was about to lose their home so they got into underground fighting to make quick cash. However, there is a hilariously unrealistic moment when they go to where the fight is being held, and Micki and Captain James are dressed head to toe in their work uniforms, there is no way in hell that two cops are gonna casually stroll into an underground fight ring where they're even gambling and get info, those people would have fled like rats, hell there probably would have even been somebody outside making sure the authorities don't show up but maybe things work differently in Texas 😂

Anyhow, the guy they're looking for can't fight because of his CET, so Micki fights in his place (but not before Trey volunteers and takes his shirt off thank you script writer 🤤) which was awesome to see and I wish we had gotten more of; also I must make the note that as somebody who watches SEAL Team and was left scarred by the episodes they did about TBI's in war veterans seeing this show be so casual about this vet having brain trauma makes me want to scream.

While all this is going on, back at the ranch Liam is still recuperating and he's being pestered by journalists. Abeline is taking care of him but it's clear she needs a break so Bonham calls Stan whose existence I tend to forget. And while Stan is with Liam, Bonham offers to go mushroom hunting with her because he knows it's something that means a lot to his wife. Which leads to the cutest scene of them just giggling on the floor together, it's so adorable.

Oh, there's also this small side thing where Bonham didn't want to get cancer treatment but then he ends up deciding to do so.

Stan...is actually a really decent dude, even though Liam is his political rival he encourages him to stay on the race and even gives him his first campaign donation. Also, Liam might get back together with Brett cause he found out what happened and wants to talk, good luck to them they were cute together.

Then it all ends with a cute scene between Cordell and Micki where they hug and he calls her family ❤

And because Hoyt's death didn't hurt enough the final shot is Cordell realizing that ingrained into the gate of the new alpaca area it says it's in memory of Hoyt, show I'm already sad about that death why do you add to it 😭

All in all, solid episode, like I said very day in the life which personally I don't mind especially since the last episode was so massive it's nice to get something a little more mellow before we get back into big plot lines.

Of three things Jaskier is absolutely certain.

2. There are two pairs of eyes trained on him and Geralt, as they sit at the bar, one friendly, one hostile. Or both friendly. Or both hostile. He’s not sure of things like that anymore.

3. He loves Geralt. He really does. But his boyfriend might be the worst undercover cop he’s ever seen in his entire goddamn life.

As the son of the patriarch of the Pankratz family, he’s seen a lot of undercover cops - some better than others, yet no matter how good, all of them were found out by his dad, and got executed and dumped into the ocean. But none of them have been as bad as Geralt.

He really does wonder how the hell his boyfriend managed to get hired by the FBI, as Geralt looks at him, unease evident on his face - even though he’s supposed to seduce Jaskier - and says: “I- I like your... eyes. They’re... very blue.” 

Jaskier swallows thickly, hand tightening around the pint in front of him, as he fights the overwhelming urge to slam his head into the bar. He can feel his dad’s eyes boring into his back, and remembers the conversation they had earlier that day, when he pulled Jaskier aside, telling him he’s a hundred percent sure that their latest acquisition is an undercover cop - because of course he immediately knew Geralt wasn’t a criminal, big shocker - and that Jaskier needs to get close to him, find out what the Feds know about their operations and criminal activity.

He sighs, softly, trying to save Geralt’s awkward flirting, by shooting him a quick wink, putting on his most charming smile. “Thanks. My eyes are pretty special, though, they’re only blue when I’m looking at hot people.”

Geralt stammers, frowning a bit, mouth opening and closing like a fish on dry land, and Jaskier has to fight not to smack his forehead.

“But...” Geralt eventually replies “they’re always blue, no matter who you’re looking at.”

Now Jaskier has to fight the urge not to smack Geralt. He shoots a quick look over his shoulder, seeing his dad still staring at him. He turns back to his boyfriend who is actually not supposed to be his boyfriend at all. “Geralt, work with me goddammit. We’re supposed to seduce each other and it’s not gonna be believable if you say stupid shit like that,” he hisses.

“Sorry, I’m not good at this,” Geralt whispers back.

“Fucking clearly!”

He shoots a look over his other shoulder, meeting the other pair of eyes that keeps staring at them. Geralt’s colleague, another undercover cop. She’s been in the family a while, and his dad only keeps her around to feed her false information about their activities, to put the Feds on wild goose chases for drug or weapon deals that are never gonna happen.

Though, he knows that she’s aware that the information they’ve been feeding her is false, by now. That’s why the Feds sent Geralt - to seduce Jaskier, the brazen, gay wildchild of the Pankratz patriarch, and maybe get correct information about the family’s business. And she’s keeping an eye on them, to make sure Geralt does his job and doesn’t betray her or himself.

Little does she know Jaskier’s dad already knows Geralt’s a cop.

Because Geralt fucking sucks at being undercover.

He tries again. “Your eyes are lovely, though.” They’re one of the first things he noticed about Geralt when they first met, about a year ago, a few hours before they slept together for the first time. Neither of them had known about each other’s occupations at the time, and by the time they figured out that they were supposed to be mortal enemies, it had been too late - they had already fallen for each other.

“Thanks...” Geralt mutters, toying with his own pint “I... need them to see.”

Jaskier wonders how the fuck he ever managed to fall in love with this idiot.

But, then again, there hadn’t been any need for flirting, when they first met. They had instantly been attracted to each other, and talking just got in the way of kissing, really. And after that, Jaskier had fallen for Geralt because he always expressed his love through his actions, not his words.

So, really, deep down, he had already known Geralt would suck at flirting and would fail at ‘seducing’ Jaskier, especially with Jaskier’s dad and the other cop staring at them the whole time.

The question, really, is: how the fuck didn’t the FBI see this coming? Did they really think they could just put a hot man next to Jaskier, and he would immediately dive into bed with him and tell him all his family’s secrets?

Granted, that’s exactly what happened - a year ago, though. Not that the FBI knows. Not that they’ll ever know, hopefully.

He tries to summarize the situation for himself, as all these schemes and intrications have got his head spinning.

So, long story short: He is part of the mob, Geralt is a cop. They’ve been in a secret relationship for about a year now, and Jaskier’s dad expects him to seduce Geralt so they can find out what the Feds know, and the Feds expect Geralt to seduce Jaskier so they can get correct intel on the Pankratz’s activities.

Fucking marvellous.

He tries to have one more go at this ‘seduction’ thing, just to at least keep up appearances a little bit. “So, Ger-” he blinks, trying to remember his boyfriend’s undercover name “James. Is your hair white everywhere, or just on your head?” He leans his elbow on the bar, putting his chin in his hand, his index finger pulling his lower lip down slightly, looking up at Geralt through his lashes.

Just because his boyfriend sucks at flirting, doesn’t mean Jaskier can’t do it.

And, fortunately, it works. Geralt’s eyes flick down to Jaskier’s lips for a brief moment, as he shifts in his seat a bit, a blush creeping up his neck. “I- uh...”

Jaskier looks at him innocently, batting his eyelashes, exaggerating it so he’s sure his dad and the other undercover cop can see it. “I would love to find out.”

Geralt blinks again, leaning towards Jaskier. “You already know that, though.”

Jaskier sighs, once again resisting the urge to smash his head into the bar. “Geralt, I love you but you’re so fucking stupid. How the hell did you ever get hired by the FBI?” he hisses.

“I’m sorry, I’m just a bit stressed.”

“Yes, I can see that! The whole fucking bar can see that! This is never going to be believable if you keep acting like I’m holding you at gunpoint!”

“Oh, my bad, sorry I’m a bit nervous about this. It’s not as if your dad’s gonna execute me if he finds out I’m an undercover cop!” He sounds properly angry now, brows knitted together over furious amber eyes.

Jaskier scoffs, pinching the bridge of his nose. “He already fucking knows, Geralt. You’re literally the worst undercover cop I’ve ever seen and the FBI sends us, like, a dozen a year. He’s only keeping you alive if I can seduce you - or, at least” he waves his hand non-committally “if he thinks I’ve seduced you.”

“Why the hell didn’t you tell me?”

“Because I didn’t want to worry you even more, you absolute idiot! You’re already acting like someone shoved a stick so far up your ass it’s triggering your gag reflex!”

“You of all people should know that I don’t have a gag reflex!”

Jaskier blinks, raising his finger at Geralt. “I know that, and I love you, but that wasn’t my point. My point was-” he lowers his hand, frowning. “What was my point?”

He looks up when he hears his dad’s voice next to him. “Everything alright here?”

Jaskier smiles, leaning away from Geralt until he’s sitting upright again. “Everything’s perfectly fine,” he shoots Geralt, who’s still glaring at him, a warning look. “Right, James?”

Geralt stares at him for another second, before leaning back as well, smiling at Jaskier’s dad so unconvincingly it makes Jaskier cringe. “Yeah, everything’s great.”

The patriarch looks between them for a split second. “Right.” He looks at Jaskier. “If anything’s the matter, tell me.” He looks at Geralt, though his words are still directed towards his son. “I’ll take care of it, then.”

“Nope! Everything’s perfectly fine. Nothing to worry about.”

Jaskier’s dad nods, and walks away. Geralt glares at him again. “And I thought you said I was a shitty actor!”

Jaskier grits his teeth together, standing up abruptly, taking Geralt’s arm, dragging his boyfriend/supposed-to-be-mortal-enemy to the back of the bar, into his dad’s office, slamming the door behind him. “Fucking stop looking at me like you’re going to kill me! You’re convincing no one that you’re seducing me!”

“Maybe that’s a good thing!” Geralt half-shouts. “Maybe if I can’t seduce you, they’ll pull me out of this operation and things can go back to normal!”

“No, they fucking can’t! Cause if I can’t seduce you, my dad’s gonna have your head because you’re the worst fucking undercover cop in the history of the FBI!”

“I could just leave! I could walk out of here and never show my face again! Problem solved!”

“No! He’ll just track you down and kill you anyways, you mud-for-brains idiot!”

“Then what do you suppose we do? You pretend you’ve seduced me and then what? We can’t fucking keep this up forever!”

Jaskier frowns, thinking for half a second. “Then you just out yourself as an undercover cop and say you’ve switched sides! There! End of discussion, problem solved!”

“But I won’t switch sides!”

“It doesn’t fucking matter whose side you’re on if you’re dead!”

“Fuck you!”

“Fuck me yourself, you coward!”

“I already am!”

Jaskier blinks. “Fair enough.” He laughs when Geralt leans against the wall and almost knocks a painting off its hook.

He stalks forward. “Gods, Geralt, you’re so fucking stupid.” He grabs his boyfriend by the back of his neck, pulling him closer, smashing their lips together.

Geralt groans in surprise, but immediately kisses him back, pulling Jaskier flush against his chest.

The door to the office opens, and Jaskier pulls back, meeting eyes with his dad, who’s standing in the doorway. 

“My apologies,” the patriarch says, “I didn’t realize you two were... busy.” He closes the door behind him.

“Right,” Jaskier mutters, as Geralt laughs softly. “Problem solved, I guess.”

brOTP: easy answer is Dante but this is like. The one (1) meaningful relationship confirmed he has in his life. Also they're already brothers and had a whole childhood AND game dedicated to them. Part of me want to say Griffon & co but I feel this is more a V thing even if I'm in the "V is literally just Vergil" group. So this is just wishful thinking but MAN I just really want more interactions between him and Nero, indulge me with more father and son bonding because I would argue this is the MOST interesting relationship to look into in future games and content. Another relationship I'd really wanna explore is Vergil with his daughter-in-law, once they're past all dmc5 events-related awkwardness. Vergil and Credo are lowkey similar so I get the vibe Kyrie would know how to handle the man, and I don't think they would make Vergil disrespect Kyrie because while we've never actually seen him interact casually with other people/humans, I think it'd be out of character and a dumb move.

OTP: Ok so Vergil is a very big comfort character o' mine so I project really hard on the man, and the aro/ace is jumping out so I really do not care and do not want to ship him with any character of the small cast, that's not why I love dmc in the first place. (ABSOLUTELY NOT a jab on OCs and self-shippers. Y'all do y'all <3). Romantic and/or sexual love is not the type of love I want to see him express... which I realize is super ironic and funny because this is the one (1) character in dmc we know for certain that had sexy times (congrats to the fortuna woman who got him in bed. You go girl).

nOTP: You'd think it'd be a given but an alarming amount of dmc fans are addicted to inc*st so... a big no to that. What the fuck. (They're literally twiiiins whyyy... and I don't care how many mental gymnastics you're doing this is still his fucking father....). Also like I said above I pretty much avoid any shippy or suggestive/nsfw stuff involving Vergil so.

random headcanon: Vergil doesn't need to sleep or eat because of that sweet sweet demon blood, but if he did, his go-to junk food would be hamburgers like we saw in VoV (Dante has pizza but we all knew that, and my hc for Nero is instant ramen/pasta). Additional hcs for Vergil is that he played the violin and he strikes me as the kind of guy who speak fluently latin, not modern italian, but the dead latin language (which would make for some funny interactions in Fortuna). Also Special Shout Out To Scottish Vergil.

unpopular opinion: Unsure of the popularity of that take but I'm glad him being Gilver got retconned. Unsure of the popularity of that take but ive seen a few people saying that they'll ruin Vergil by making him more "fun" by developping his character and to that I say "You want to keep Vergil boring???". I also personally do not care about the nature of the relationship between him and Nero's mother and I don't feel the need to find out more about that.
