American friends, please be kind and patient with poll workers today. We are working long hours in an election we have been consistently told over the past few months that we are putting our lives potentially on the line to work. Please be kind.

#not dogs #2024 presidential election #we’ve been threatened by so much #not me specifically #but poll workers in general #I didn’t used to fear getting assaulted at the polls #but I do now #I didn’t use to have to keep folders of FBI and other emergency contact info but I do now #I didn’t used to have to keep a narcan kit available to use on MYSELF and other workers #but again…I do now #please be kind and patient #will probably work a 16 hour day today

Like everyone else, it was hard for him to let go of his past. It clung onto him, and seemed like it was not planning to leave him anytime soon. Then the question occurred to him: why would he need to let go of something that is essentially a part of him in the first place? Alas, the man learned to embrace the entirety of himself – his past, riddled with wounds and scars of old times. He was never the type to shy away, but didn’t brag around about it either.

It was just there. Like patches to his own pale skin. And he thought the rough texture of it looked pretty on him.
