Alhaitham ;
Kaveh gaped at you when you brought a cat into the house, one that… looked eerily similar to a certain blockhead. “I can explain,” you say as you set the cat down on the floor, he doesn’t enter the house further than you do, instead sitting down by your feet and observing the interaction with… interest? Amusement…?
Kaveh didn’t need much to be convinced, and immediately he thanked the Archons for giving him a few days of respite. Even just a few days of Alhaitham being unable to comment on what he does or nag him is a blessing.
For you, it’s a bit of a hassle… because he keeps disappearing! Not in an alarming way, because you find him again in the most secluded, quiet spots you would never even think of. Under your laundry, in an empty box that Kaveh hadn’t put away after getting a delivery, and even under the desk in the study—Kaveh accidentally kicked him and got a feisty scratch on his ankle. He learned his lesson.
He follows you around and—though he let you pick him up the first time—doesn’t let you carry him around, preferring to walk on his own… and wander off to explore nooks and crannies he has never been able to see, but he always shows up again before you reach your destination.
He has also claimed your pillow as his own and refuses to let you use it, loafing on top of it exactly when you thought you could get there before him. Which… in hindsight is fine, you’re not opposed to using his pillow, it smells like him after all.
You decided to test how much of a cat he really is, whether it’s appearance alone or instinctual as well and bought a cat toy with a whisker on the end as well as a small bell below it. You expected him to perk up and try to whack or catch it as soon as you wriggled it beside him… but his grey furred ears just lowered in annoyance and he hopped off the kitchen counter, it seems like having even more sensitive ears in this state makes his dislike for uncomfortable noises more intense.
He forgave you when you spent ten minutes scratching the itchy spot behind his ears after tracking him down. A small, rumbling purr left his chest as you moved your hand to scratch under his chin—he was, however, more curious about this instinctual reaction and demanded you continue after you drew your hand back.     Despite it being very much an unspoken rule between the two of you that neither of you should be disturbed ‘needlessly’ when reading or working at home, when you borrowed a few books from the Akademiya to try and figure out how to turn your partner back to normal, Alhaitham decided it would be very reasonable for him to lay down over your book… which you are very much trying to read.
But when you ask him what he needs, he just blinks at you three times, very slowly. You’ll likely never be able to crack that brain of his, even in a form that is somehow far more expressive.
Tumblr media
Arataki Itto ;
It’s difficult enough to keep track of him—and keep him out of trouble—on a normal day… now? You took your eyes off him for a second, and he’s gone. Shinobu split up with you to cover more ground while the rest of the gang scoured the streets of Inazuma City, at least as much as they could.
You peek between baskets, crates and stalls, walk through tight alleys and even squint into a few windows… nothing!
You had been very close to giving up and returning back to the meeting point by the bridge… until you heard a very distressed, very loud meowing. Following the sound, you come to a tree stretching over the gardens of a teahouse. What looks to be the owner of it stands below the tree with a basket, trying to ask Itto—stuck up on a wobbling branch—to jump into it.
Exasperation is one way to describe what you feel as you approach the old lady, you put your hands on your hips and Itto notices you immediately. His meowing turns from frantic and panicked… to a sheepish pleading. Every movement he makes causes the branch to sway and wobble, and it looks like it could easily bend and break—and you don’t want to cause any trouble for the teahouse owner. “Itto, come on, hop down.”
He meows and shakes his head, white fur swishing dramatically.
A sigh leaves you as you step closer and hold your arms open. “I’ll catch you, trust me,” you encourage him… and he finally relents, with wobbling paws, he leaps from the branch—fur shining in the sun as he practically flies in the air towards your open arms… and lands on your head. He panics and tries to adjust and not fall off, and you try to pry him away from your face as his belly nearly suffocates you—it’s a scene from a comedic play.
Shinobu is glad for her mask, because when you return with Itto under your arm you have scratches on your face and forehead, and Itto is whining and meowing sorrowfully.
He spends the entire evening licking your ‘wounds’, dragging his coarse cat tongue over every spot so often that the licking starts to become more painful than the scratches themselves. But you let him, it makes him feel much better than you—and you don’t particularly need comfort, but if he doesn’t get it, he will whine all night.
So you let him knead your thighs and stomach even as his claws prick through your clothes and you make sure to pet him and stroke his fur when he snuggles against you… and then you wake up in the middle of the night, suffocating with his furred belly against your face when the lies on top of you.
Tumblr media
Baizhu ;
You’re very happy that Baizhu is catching a break—something you often try to convince him to do—despite the strange way of being forced into it… however, it’s very difficult to focus on running the pharmacy in his place by yourself while also trying to make sure he doesn’t roll off the shelf he’s napping on… especially because Changsheng wriggles in her sleep and keeps nudging him closer to the edge.
You decide it’s easier if you have them sleeping on separate surfaces and reach up to pick up your pliant partner-turned-cat. He effectively falls into your arms and blinks lazily, slightly confused by the sudden transport. “Just moving you so you don’t hit your head,” you dodge around Qiqi as she runs past you with an armful of jars and set Baizhu down on the counter, his tail sways lazily and he immediately flops on his side as a beam of sunlight sneaks through the window and directly onto his fur.
Every time a customer comes by—with approval—they give Baizhu a small pet or scratch before leaving, as if paying tribute to the good doctor. He doesn’t seem to mind.
Unfortunately, you’re not fit to take Baizhu’s place for consultations, and thus they all get delayed—which was a hell of a lot of work to contact everyone and change scheduling—until Baizhu is back to normal. The usual hours of consultation in the morning are therefore replaced with longer opening hours of the pharmacy and by pulling some strings, an increased stock of rarer products at a discounted price.
Changsheng does not let poor Baizhu catch a break, she wiggles her tail and swipes it in front of his paws, and unable to control the feline instincts harbouring his body—Baizhu chases after her tail like a kitten playing with a toy. He whacks at it and tries to capture it, but the white snake is far quicker than even you expected her to be as a sudden game of cat and mouse (snake) takes over your living room.
The feline form, however, doesn’t come with free stamina—and Baizhu is not in good shape. He flops down on the carpet, exhausted from the play even as only seven minutes have passed. You feel a bit bad and scoop him up for some cuddling, which seems to be just the remedy he needed.
Baizhu is very careful around the clinic, he doesn’t knock anything over—even though he REALLY wants to sometimes, and is mindful of not getting fur or saliva on anything that could potentially be consumed by anyone with allergies. Changsheng has taken to wrapping herself around your shoulders instead, and though you’re used to her, it’s a little annoying to get a comment on every little thing you do.
But at the end of the day, Baizhu curls up next to you and you wake with him lying over your chest, belly to the skies and paws in the air, comfortable and content. Though you will always prefer him in his normal state, he is very cute like this.
Tumblr media
Cyno ;
You look around the large front hall of the House of Daena, panting slightly as you try to catch your breath… that damn Cyno! Making you chase him across the entire city!
You spot some pawprints and squint as you look around… he’s not bringing all that dirt into the house—you were just going to rinse him a bit, but he’s run off! You finally spot dark and creamy coloured fur… perched up high on a massive decorative piece of the wall. He looks down at you with a swaying tail, completely at ease knowing that you won’t be able to catch him all the way up there.
You almost consider inquiring about one of those massive ladders the library has to reach the high shelves, it might be long enough…
But very well, he wins this round.
Once he turned into a cat, you were very excited about petting him, rubbing his ears and stroking his tail—but he’s not having any of it. Sometimes, you wonder if someone stuck a firework in his ass and lit it up, because the bouts of zoomies he gets is so frequent you wondered if there was something wrong—but you couldn’t catch him to take to a vet either!
After the first few days, Cyno seems to calm down… a little. He still prefers to survey the area (your living room) from above (your bookshelf) and watch you go about your day. It’s quite cute how his perked ears twitch every time you make a noise, as if he’s completely focused on what you’re doing.
You soon find out after stepping a bit too close to the bookshelf that he might have just been waiting to strike, because he leaps onto your head as soon as you’re in range.
The only reason you know he’s fully conscious in that furred head is because while you were cleaning up after dinner, you spotted him sitting next to a cup of tea that was half-filled. You tense as you watch his paw raise to knock it off. “Cyno! Don’t,” you try to sound scolding.
He looks up at you, he lowers his paw… then raises it again, making you glare at him. He lowers it again, turns away… you turn back to wiping the dishes and look over your shoulders after a few seconds—his paw is raised again!
This back and forth continued until he finally knocked it over.
And then he has the audacity during the next day’s dinner to sound like he has never been fed in his life while you’re trying to eat in peace. Meowing at you so loudly one would think he was terribly injured, eyes wide and mouth open. You hope your neighbours don’t think you’re trying to starve him, or treat him horribly.
Tumblr media
Dainsleif ;
He’s not happy about it, he has things to do—places to be and investigations to make. Thankfully you’re familiar with where you were going next… but Dainsleif is very limited in what he can do. You decide to give him the task of scouting and sneaking around, something he’s used to doing anyway… but he finds that it’s much more effective to do so as a cat. His footsteps are completely silent and his senses are much sharper.
Though, he had an instinctual need to swat at a glowing orb that you found in a strange vault half-buried in a cave in Fontaine before he could stop himself—which closed the two of you inside the vault. Thankfully he is now small enough that he could slip out between the bars and unlock it from the other side.
It is quite cute how his ears flattened as you walked out, as if he was sorry. Though he seemed okay after you scratched behind his ears and assured him it was okay, he was here to help you out after all! His tail swayed in satisfaction to your assurance.
You start to set down camp for the night, having just one pair of hands makes it a bit more of a lengthy process, and Dainsleif can only sit and watch as you put it together. He’s usually quite distant, even in a relationship—but as you straighten from squatting to fit something down, you feel something press against your leg and see him rubbing his furry cheek against you, then walking around your legs, tail trailing behind.
He’s usually quite wary and alert, even during the night when you try and convince him to sleep—and it’s no different now. He sits poised and ready… for what? He’s a cat. But you appreciate the effort.
Surprisingly, he’s very active at grooming himself, the two of you usually have to bathe often anyway as you frequent dusty caves and muddy backwaters, but every time you make a stop, he sits down and starts licking his fur—at first you wondered if he was frustrated by something or had hurt himself, but as you picked him up to examine for any injuries or strange patches, he just blinked at you, tongue still half-hanging out.
Dainsleif is rather laid-back when it comes to your relationship, there are times where you want to stay in a larger city for a few days or weeks in between travels, to have a soft bed and four walls around you—which Dainsleif doesn’t mind, there are places he wants to look into where he’d prefer you are safe elsewhere. He knows where you will be and will stop by to ask if you’re ready to continue days or even sometimes a few weeks later, to which you—recharged and rejuvenated—jump at the chance to follow him out of the city.
But now, as a cat, he doesn’t leave your side for a minute—not even when you need to use nature’s bathroom. You went into a small village in Sumeru when passing through and a vendor was particularly pressing about selling you some type of perfume that you had shown brief interest in—Dainsleif had enough of you being pestered and whacked his paw at the man’s leg, hissing. He would usually be more subtle about guiding you away, but he doesn’t have the presence he usually does as he is now, so he must utilise the aggressiveness given to him in feline form. You take the chance to scoop him up and hurry away before the vendor can get upset, petting between his ears and thanking him for the help—he rubs his cheek against yours. He’s surprisingly more affectionate like this as well.
Tumblr media
Diluc ;
Your nose itches… you try to hold back—achoo!!
Diluc jumps, claws scuttling against the ground and he leaps from his resting spot and hops down to the floor. You sniffle and shake your head. “Sorry, it’s not your fault,” you stand from his chair and round the table to squat down next to him, reaching a hand out. “Did I startle you?”
He makes a ‘hmph’ sound, fur red as freshly bloomed roses. Diluc bumps his snout into your palm and huffs into it, you turn your hand and pet along his back. “Aaah… you’re so cute~ so soft,” you near coo as you scratch behind his ears—
Diluc shakes himself and ducks under your hand to walk past you—how dare you baby-talk him?! He’s not an actual cat! The scritches felt too nice, and his ears flicked when you cooed at him—it’s embarrassing…
He sits down by the door, tail swaying lazily as a small meow leaves him. Let me out.
You pout, how can you not convey how cute he is? You want to rub his cheeks. But fine, you  walk over and open the door for him to slip out of.
Diluc likes the lounge around the fireplace in the estate, there’s not much work he can do  while you try to figure out how to turn him back—preferably without alerting his brother or any of the knights… or just anyone in general. Unfortunately, he can’t hide it from the staff of the Winery as he is a spitting image of himself in cat form, and you’ve caught more than three people trying to feed him expensive cheeses.
It’s only in the recent days that you’ve convinced him to settle down and use the time to rest and nap as much as he can, but Diluc was extremely restless at first, you had to trap him inside a room and trick him into lying down with you.
One day, Jean came by looking for him, and you had to think fast to come up with an excuse while he had just leapt under the sofa to hide. Thankfully, she didn’t seem to need him urgently, so she just left a message behind and went back to her day.
You fell asleep in Diluc’s study, trying to keep up with his paperwork—Adeline offered to help you, she’s very familiar with his work, and it’s not like it’s been a long time since he wasn’t there to do it… but you wanted to help, and as the sun sank below the horizon, you laid down on the sofa in his study next to a tall bookcase—only closing your eyes was enough to pull you into deep sleep.
Diluc hops onto the sofa next to you, he carefully walks over your thighs and settles on the armrest where your head is. His fluffy tail sways and strokes your chin and nose—nearly waking you as you almost sneeze, you don’t have to work so hard for him, he knows you want to help. He wishes he could tell you, and he will, when he’s back to normal. For now, he rests alongside you, head leaning against the top of yours and tail tucked against your neck.
Tumblr media
Kaedehara Kazuha ;
Kazuha is a very chill cat, he doesn’t get into trouble, he doesn’t cough hairballs on the floor and he doesn’t knock things over.
(Instead of coughing hairballs on the floor he swats them off-deck with his paws, Beidou caught him doing it once).
There’s not much trouble to get into on the ocean, and he’s rather good at keeping out of trouble overall on land, sticking by his side is a sureway to a boring day of exploration or lounging around—which is your perfect type of day.
You help him into your bag as the Crux ‘boards’ by Liyue Harbour (it stops a bit away and tucked by a cliffside to avoid attention) and you make sure he doesn’t accidentally fall into the ocean as a few crewmates row to land. You’re stopping for a few days, so you make sure to use the time to relax and take in landside air and wander around the expansive Harbour.
Kazuha likes to take life at a slower pace, and thus your walk to the Harbour took longer than you expected… as you thought Kazuha was doing his normal meditation on a warm, sun-kissed rock along the road…
But he was asleep, sitting up and enjoying the sun. It took you thirty minutes to realise—a sitting cat with its eyes closed and a sleeping cat in a sitting position is the exact same.
He very much likes to people-watch, but in this cat form, he seems even more engaged—he can hear sounds more clearly and he seems even more perceptive than usual. Watching a tea maker brew a cup on a teahouse table you had sat by to rest and ordered some snacks. He sniffs at the tea as it’s placed in front of you—he’s perched comfortably on your lap, you’re surprised the teahouse even allows him inside—and seems to appreciate the detail he gets from this new perspective, af if it smells different in this form.
He tries to taste it and your food, but you have to block his snout with your hand, you’re not sure if the food you were having would give him a stomach ache or not.
On a walk on the outskirts of the city, you look back and see Kazuha carrying a stick in his mouth…?
He’s not a dog, so you’re not entirely sure why he’s doing it, maybe cats do that too? The dogs that hang around the bridge leading to the southeast outside of Liyue Harbour try to approach him with the stick, thinking he was playing, but he hops into a tree to keep it to himself. You’re not entirely sure what’s happening, but he seems to be having fun.
Kazuha wanders off oftentimes, just in his normal, usual body… so you’re not sure why you’re surprised when you suddenly find him missing from your side—perhaps it’s because he’s a cat and you’re unsure if he can defend himself as well in that form, but you hurry to look for him.
You practically run in circles until you find him pressing his paw to a brown, crusty leaf… again and again, as if listening to the crunch of it in a rhythm. You sigh and scoop him up into your arms. “Don’t wander off like this,” you scold and poke his nose. Kazuha sneezes from the poke, but blinks up at you and nods his little furry head.
Tumblr media
Kaeya ;
Unbothered, in his element. Kaeya sleeps in your windowsill and bathes in the sunlight all day while you scratch your head over how this could’ve happened. You try to leave for work and he practically screeches at the door, likely pleading you not to leave—he does that normally as well, except without the loud meowing.
Kaeya finds appreciation in the flexibility and grace that comes with this new body, he easily leaps up on shelves and dives under the sofa, he chases flakes of dust and seems to be having quite a good time—perhaps it’s because he has no responsibilities in this form, he can’t go to work like this and has no control over it. And the loss of control is strangely freeing.
You scoop him up into your arms and his tail swishes happily, he grabs his claws into your shirt and purrs as you rub his ears, happy and content with the additional affection. He loves all affection he gets from you no matter what form it takes, and being a cat has given him the opportunity to be pampered in ways he never could experience as a human.
He does need his free time as well and he uses it well while you’re out of the house—though you were very optimistic to think that closing the windows would keep him contained, Kaeya easily flips the handles and slips out of your home. He enjoys the attention he gets from any passersby, but is careful not to be too affectionate and get picked up by someone who thinks he’s a stray.
His usual guarded front lowers in this form, he feels like he could slip out of any situation—and he doesn’t have to be careful with his words or actions. No one expects a cat to have alternative intentions.
He jumps up in surprise as he hears footsteps rapidly approaching—he had fallen asleep on a ledge and the sun was already down. Kaeya blinks as you pick him up, breath heaving. “There you are, I’ve looked everywhere for you! I thought something happened when I couldn’t find you around the plaza,” you sigh a breath of relief and practically crush him to your chest. Kaeya wriggles a little but gives up and nuzzles into you, pushing his forehead into your cheek.
After a number of days, Kaeya gets bored, as fun as lounging around and being pampered it… he misses real food, and dragging you away from your work to have lunch—and holding you properly, he can only lay on top of you like this, which doesn’t exactly feel like holding.
And Kaeya being restless… he gets whiny.
He would usually be more subtle, but now that he feels the rush of freedom his feline form gives him, he uses it to protest by loafing on your clothes after you fold them to put away, laying over your lap when you need to get up—even though he’s not really a cat… kind of, you still get the same feeling of not wanting to move him off no matter how much space he’s taking.
But that’s okay, because he just has to slow blink at you and nuzzle into your hand and you forgive him, how could you not?
Tumblr media
Kamisato Ayato ;
Ayato is an unreasonably pretty cat. His fur is soft and silky, he has this… smug kitty-smile at all times, and it makes you want to pinch his ears. He sits on your lap and peeks onto the low table inside his study as you go through paperwork. Just because he’s become a cat doesn’t mean his workload just miraculously lessens.
Thankfully, after a few days of trying to juggle his work—how does he do it?!—even with him by your side, albeit in a form that can’t properly communicate… Ayaka decides to lend a hand, she takes it upon herself to attend meetings and represent the clan and Commission in Ayato’s stead. Thankfully no one has questioned where he is yet.
Or why there is a suspiciously similar cat trotting around the estate in his place.
You fish into a bush in the courtyard gardens, hand feeling around—until you find fur and yoink it up. Ayato blinks at you, tail swishing as he has a piece of grilled fish in his mouth that he stole from the kitchens. “You know… you can have all the fish you want—you don’t have to steal it,” you say as you lift him into your arms.
His ears flick as you talk, but he eats the fish happily regardless. You shake your head in mild exasperation. Looks like he’s using the opportunity to engage in… more mischief than usual. Perhaps a different kind.
Ayato likes to use his newfound stealth and agility to his advantage… to torment you.
You put away some laundry and turned to a shelf to fetch something—only to come face to face with Ayato’s cat-face, making you jump as he meows happily—as if happy to see you! He knows he’s just trying to startle you!
He winds around your feet when you walk around the estate and purrs happily when you squint at him.
Ayato knows the limits, he stops before you can lock him inside a room for the remainder of the day. His fur is so soft as you pet him and a rumbling purr leaves him, he knows it’s silly—he’s not really a cat, at least, hopefully not for long. But you keep petting and stroking him while he does.
He takes good care of himself on normal days, and as a cat, it’s no different—he grooms himself meticulously, though finds it rather embarrassing if you’re looking, so he tries to do it out of sight… it's very instinctual, but he also likes to feel clean and groomed.
You once passed the great hall and saw Thoma wriggling a toy with a bundle of feathers on it while Ayato chased it… it was pretty cute to watch, but you hurried along before either of them could notice you.
He hogs the futon, you don’t want to push him to the side and get pushed to the edge of the mattress yourself. Ayato doesn’t even realise he’s doing it.
Tumblr media
Kaveh ;
Distressed, not having fun, he wants to go home.
A series of meows in varying states of distress and confusion follow behind you as you walk, you stop and turn around, peering down at the strange cat that’s been following you around since you left the Akademiya. You were about to ask what he wants… but as you squint at the cat… doesn’t it look familiar?
Kaveh doesn’t stop when you do, he raises on his hind legs by your feet and sinks his claws into your pants, a shrill, distressed meow leaves him.
You reach down and pick him up, holding under his front legs as you inspect him… hm, golden fur with tints of a darker, sandy brown… those big red eyes.
“... Kaveh?” you must be crazy, there’s no way your partner is a cat, and followed you around without you realising, but you know those eyes very well. It’s him.
Alhaitham just stares at you like you grew three additional heads, he looks at Kaveh in your arms and then back at you. “... it looks like him, but that’s not proof enough—have you asked him to write his name?”
You look at Kaveh and he tilts his small head to look up at you. Write his name…? He doesn’t exactly have thumbs… but Alhaitham has a good point. What if it’s just a very persistent cat?
Then again… where would Kaveh be? He’s usually home by this time.
Alhaitham fetches a pen and some parchment and you put Kaveh down on the table. He tries to use his paws at first but just spills ink all over the place—but as he grabs the pen with his mouth and clumsily scribbles his signature, Alhaitham just hums while you scoop Kaveh up again, holding him up. “It is you! What happened to you, Kaveh?”
Of course, he can’t give a proper answer, he wriggles his paws around and meows in a long dialogue—but it’s entirely incomprehensible.
While you and Alhaitham try to figure out how to get him back, Kaveh tries to adjust to his… predicament. He doesn’t do it with any grace, though… his leaps and jumps across furniture are miscalculated and he falls to the ground or hits his head more often than you can count.
But your worried petting and rubbing the aching area makes him purr and nuzzle into your arms.
He does hate the heightened senses, he jumps at the smallest noise and scuttles across the room if anything startles him—and he gets startled very easily like this.
Tumblr media
Neuvillette ;
You call his name, looking around his office… you scratch your head, he can’t have gone far, you just left to fetch some tea for a few minutes. It’s not like he can open the door or window and slip out—why would he anyway?
You hear a very… pathetic meow, from next to you—but there’s nothing there, just a sofa. You hear it again—under the sofa…?
Ducking down, you see that Neuvillette is stuck, he seems to have been trying to squeeze himself under the sofa, and rounding the furniture, you see his hind legs and tail flat on the floor… it’s a bit amusing. “There, I got you,” you say soothingly as you lift the sofa up a little so he can back out. Neuvillette stands up and shakes his body.
You squat down and smile. “How’d you get stuck under there?” you hold out your hand and he presses his head into your palm, nuzzling against your skin for comfort as you turn your hand to scratch and pet him.
He’s not very good at resisting the instincts and temptations that come with this form—you’re unsure why he seems to struggle so much, but you try to help him as much as you can, and not laugh.
You saw him chase a shadow, there is an ornament on the raised blinds that hang above the large window in his office. It's attached to the strings that lower and raise them and it sways slightly—casting a shadow across the floor.
Another time he was grooming his fur and struggling, he has a thick, long coat and had to lean far back to reach the end of his fur as his tongue dragged along the hairs… causing him to roll backwards off the arm of the couch and into the pile of pillows.
Innocent, small things that make you smile, but you’re careful that he doesn’t see it.
He loafs over a stack of court documents as you organise his desk—might as well use the opportunity to clean up while he won’t be making a mess. He doesn’t seem satisfied with his place on the desk and stands… and spots a box on the ground, it’s stacked halfway with old documents to be taken to storage… but it also looks like the perfect spot to rest. He hops down from the desk and circles a few times on the papers to get comfortable. He wriggles a little before sitting down.
It takes him a minute to realise that he was kneading into the paper when he hears the sound of it tearing under his claws in an instinctual need to make the bottom of the box comfortable.
Safe to say, he was mortified to have destroyed the top four documents, but thankfully they weren’t shredded and you managed to salvage them with some memory of what had occurred as well as piecing them together.
Tumblr media
Tartaglia ;
You look towards the window above the kitchen counter, cold air brushes into the house as Childe enters through it—with a mouse in his mouth.
You leap up and push the book in your hand against his face and push him straight back outside. “No! Absolutely not! Leave it outside, not in the house!!” You close the window behind him and sigh in relief, brushing stray snow into the sink. When you look up again, He’s sitting there, big eyes and ears flat against his head… but no mouse.
Sighing, you open the window a smidge so that he can step inside, where he shakes himself and tosses flakes of melting snow all over.
Childe sits down, tail swaying—as if waiting for something.
You set your haps on your hips. “What?”
“Mrrow…” he wriggles his head, he wants a pat.
… fine, just because he took the mouse outside because you ‘asked’, you raise your hand to stroke his head and he tilts it to lick your palm—but you pull back. “No, you just had a wild animal in your mouth, wash your mouth!”
What is this?? He feels like a criminal, all he did was bring you a prize… to be fair, he realised how silly it was to bring you a dead animal when you leapt up to push him back out, but it felt completely natural up until that point!
He whines and meows for forgiveness for the rest of the night, and you do eventually ‘forgive’ him and let Chile lounge around on your lap while you pet him and continue reading.
He picks fights with swaying curtains, chases your broom when you’re cleaning and even whacked your cup of coffee off the dinner table—spilling it everywhere. He’s a nightmare in this form, because no matter the scolding, he just stares at you with excited, large eyes and a swaying tail.
Nothing you say gets through his head. In one ear and out the other.
He does not give up either, if he wants affection, he will get it one way or the other, even if he has to whine and meow endlessly, follow you around—fake a limp! You shake him a bit after he worried you and you almost went out in the middle of the evening through the snow to take him to a vet when he just wanted scritches.
In all fairness… this is just typical behaviour, but now he has the kitten eyes to break your self control and composure within seconds.
Tumblr media
Thoma ;
He tries to do his job even in cat form, using his tail to sweep, he even takes his duster into his mouth and tries to sweep on surfaces he’d usually need ladders to reach, and now he can just leap to them.
But he also has a problem…
He has an instinctual need to create a mess, knock things over or sit on things—when he catches himself in an act of pushing Ayaka’s discarded tea off a table, he nearly leaps away to stop himself.
Thankfully, everyone around him doesn't mind—and it’s a bit relieving to see that Thoma retains a sense of himself. He finds time where he would usually go into town to instead nap—and the Kamisato estate has perfect napping spots. He lies sprawled across the engawa surrounding the eastern part of the estate near the back gardens, and lets the warm beams of the sun warm his belly—only to shoot up in surprise when he hears footsteps, embarrassed to be caught lounging around.
Ayato sometimes plucks him away to keep on his lap for hours while he sorts through paperwork, petting and scratching behind his ears while his other hand signs documents. Thoma gets a bit restless just loafing on his lord’s lap and meows in relief when you come along to fetch him.
Ayaka leapt at the opportunity to sew a few accessories for him, guised under the excuse of “practise for smaller bodies” and Thoma ends up with half a wardrobe by the end of the week.
But he prefers to be around you, you don’t trap him on your lap (even though Ayato gives very good scritches) or make him model for three hours (even though Ayaka gave him snacks). As you work around the estate, he gets tired—curse this cat body and it’s perpetual need for napping!—and you tuck him gently into your eri*. Thoma lays nestled against your chest warmly, his body light and still as you continue your work.
The gardens of the Kamisato estate is a disaster zone, and after the first few days, thoma knows to avoid it.
He had strolled past, early in his transformation—and been startled by his own reflection in the pond he passed by, the fish swimming away in a hurry as he ran across the gardens in surprise. A second time, he had spent twelve minutes chasing a butterfly while Ayato watched with a signature smile… he will likely not let him forget it.
Thankfully, he’s not needed much in the gardens, and he sits perched atop a high shelf in the kitchens, his tail sways as he leans forward… very much ready to leap and steal some food—before you pluck him up and raise an eyebrow.
His ears flatten in realisation, but you rub his cheeks and tuck him back into your clothes—grabbing some leftover pears from the dessert the kitchens were making, letting him munch on it while you get back to work.
Tumblr media
Venti  ;
You didn’t think Venti could become even more of an airhead on a typical day as he does when he becomes a cat. He gets distracted by the smallest things and wanders off—leading to a wild goose chase where you have to ask around for a small darkly coloured cat with blue highlights on its ears and tail—a very distinct cat!—and being pointed in every direction possible.
Only to discover him napping in a crate full of apples in an alley you walked past at least six times just in the last fifteen minutes.
He is also very vocal, Venti says anything that comes to his mind… which is unfortunately nothing but meowing nonsense to your ears, but you nod along as if you understand, having a halfway conversation with the lively cat.
Somehow, he very much likes to play and nap like he’s being paid to do it at the same time. In one moment, he’s swatting at your clothes and trying to get to play with your fingers—which he accidentally bites and scratches in his excitement, quickly rectifying it with some licks and nuzzles—and the next, he’s passed out cold in a box or on a shelf for five hours.
He doesn’t seem embarrassed by these new catlike instincts, such as the need to groom himself—he even starts grooming you halfway through his coat, you’re sure your skin is very much clean by the time he finally turns back to himself.
Unlike normal cats, who move and settle down elsewhere when the person under them gets up… Venti is not happy about being disturbed nor that you’re trying to get up, he whines and kneads on your clothes to try and get you to stay a little bit longer, giving you the best big kitten eyes he can muster.
And damn him, it works. He knows what he’s doing.
You had been looking for him one morning, thinking he just wandered off again and you’d find him napping in some corner of the city… when Diluc approaches you with a sheepish looking Venti-cat, holding him by the scruff of his neck. “This yours?”
Diluc doesn’t even seem surprised that the bard is a cat. At least he isn’t an allergy risk when he’s human-like and trying to get into his wares.
Tumblr media
Wanderer ;
He is very aware of himself, he knows he looks stupid (cute) and that everything he does will be looked at through the lens of a typical cat and not someone stuck in its body.
And thus, he does all he can to be as eerie and unnatural a cat as he can be.
He doesn’t make a single sound, no meowing, no purring, nothing. He doesn’t walk like a cat—thankfully he doesn’t walk on two legs—nor does he exhibit any of their typical behaviours.
At least, that was the plan.
Every single time Wanderer catches himself doing anything that could be considered “cat-like”, such as grooming himself, chasing a loose string, or gods forbid… kneading—he will immediately stop and compose himself again.
As opposed to some others, he absolutely hates the loss of control that follows becoming a cat.
He can’t write properly, he can’t communicate—and if he tries, no one but you and perhaps Nahida takes him seriously—he’s always sleepy and aware at strange times… he hates it!
And once when he was just trying to have some grapes for snacks—you suddenly leapt towards him to stop him, taking the bowl off the table with a relieved huff when you noticed he hadn’t swallowed any of it… after you pried the grape out of his mouth. At his hissing, you explained that cats can’t have grapes.
He gave you the cold fur-shoulder for at least two days.
You brought him out one time to get some fresh air—since he’s fully aware of himself, he shouldn’t run off and get lost, or into a dangerous situation like an indoor cat might. But when you gave some other cats around the streets of Sumeru attention, he quickly meowed in protest and whacked the other cats away.
It’s a bit cute… he doesn’t normally act so forthcoming, and as he bumps his head into your knee afterwards, you rub his cheeks and pinch his ears despite further protest. How cute!
Tumblr media
Wriothesley ;
At first, you weren’t even sure if Wriothesley was just a “cat”. He’s huge*.
You put a bowl in front of him, filled with foods that are okay for cats to eat but also not… gross, as Wriothesley is very much aware in that cat-head of his. “C’mon, there’s nothing wrong with this, I even tasted it—it’s a bit bland ‘cause we can’t put any seasoning, but it’s food.”
He leans down, and for a second you think that he’s going to eat it—but as his whiskers brush against the sides of the bowl, he lifts his head abruptly and swats at the bowl, clattering it to the ground—he didn’t mean to hit it at all, but also not this hard.
You scratch your head, you just can’t figure out why he won’t eat—you’ve tried everything!
It took you several hours of back and forth questions and meowing to realise that it was the shape of the bowl that was the problem and not the food itself.
On another day, you reach down to pet his soft, thick fur—only to get a static shock, it zaps your fingers and both of you jump back. You always have to be careful with petting him, as there’s always a risk of getting zapped at any time. Worst part is, it’s not even every time! It catches you off guard!
He likes to climb and jump on the pipes that web around the fortress, getting into places he’s never even considered before—and sometimes you look around for him for hours before giving up… only to suddenly be leapt on from above by a nine kilogram heavy cat half your size, knocking you over.
Siegwinne noticed that he had been brooding lately, he had been stuck as a cat for five days now and it was beginning to frustrate him. So she decided to soak a small blanket in tea mixed with catnip—after it was dry and she rubbed some more on it, she laid it out in his office…
You watched him for a good long while as he rubbed against it, meowed and rolled on the blanket. It was unbearably adorable, but you eventually pulled him away after a while—worrying it might be too much.
He’s so large that it’s almost like sleeping with a person, just a very furry one. He lies halfway over you and as you wake in the morning—he refuses to get up. You give in and relax in bed for a while… until he starts kneading your cheeks, leaving small scratches with his big paws and claws. You don’t stop him—it doesn’t hurt, he looks so focused, like he’s trying to squeeze something out of your cheeks.
Tumblr media
Xiao ;
He meows and wriggles in your arms, but you try your best to hold him until you reach the top of the inn—he swats at you and you finally let him go when you enter his usual reserved room. Despite being paws up when you let go of him, Xiao lands perfectly and immediately hops up to the highest vantage point in the room he could reach.
You don’t get him down by yourself, he only comes down willingly after a few hours when he’s calmed down and adjusted a bit to this form. You’re not entirely sure what happened, you had just been exploring a cave that was strangely entwined with a temple of sorts, when a bright light appeared behind you, and Xiao—who had been accompanying you—was suddenly a cat. A very small cat.
He loafs on the windowsill in the night, his tail wrapped around his paws as he peers towards the sky—at the slightest noise, his ears flicker towards it and he squints at the roads below that pass and surround the large inn.
  He is unbothered. Firm. Stoic.
… after getting wet under a pouring rain that persisted all day, he pretends not to be bothered by his wet fur and the uncomfortable existence he leads under this blanket of wet fur…
But he can only pretend for so long. You turn away and pretend to busy yourself to allow him some privacy to reluctantly lick along his fur and smooth it down, trying to clean or groom it in a way that makes it less sloppy.
He hates it, this weird satisfaction that comes with this very primal instinct, and yet, he does still feel the satisfaction.
Xiao is difficult to read on an average day, he’s very used to controlling his emotions and maintaining a front that’s difficult to get past.
But as a cat… he’s an open book, he approaches you with a curled tail, he slow blinks at you when you drag your fingers through his fur as he loafs on the windowsill.
  But he does. Not. Meow.
Except for that time you hauled his ass back to the inn… and when Zhongli makes a sudden appearance, he hops from his perched position and snakes around the former Archon’s legs, purring and meowing as he’s being petted and spoken to. He doesn’t notice his own behaviour…
Not until the following night after Zhongli leaves, and Xiao is mortified that he behaved like an affection-depraved cat in front of Morax.
Thankfully you sliding a comb through his fur and untangling some knots from the day distracts and calms him down in the evening.
Tumblr media
Zhongli ;
At first, you weren’t even sure if Zhongli was actually aware he was a cat, he follows you around, sits on a bench and licks his paw to clean it while you shop for groceries… he chases anything shiny that you come across and swats at it with his paws, leaps at it and tries to capture it—usually rocks or mora people drop. Maybe he likes the mineral, maybe it’s the shine. You can’t really know.
You try to give him some nice food, cut down nicely so he won’t accidentally choke on it… but he won’t eat it, not unless you plate it properly…? At least, when you rearranged it better and separated the meats from the greens, he seemed to like it more. Maybe he thought you were treating him a bit too much like a pet rather than a partner that’s unfortunately become a cat for a (hopefully) limited time.
After a long day of… not doing much, Zhongli realised he had left scratches on the sides of some furniture and he tries to hide or cover them up for the time being, dragging a blanket over the arm of a divan in the living room… hopefully you won’t discover them and he can fix it after he’s back to normal before you notice.
You do notice that he very much prefers specific textures, he doesn’t like walking on the hardwood floor of your home and instead prefers to lie down or sit on blankets or the silken sheets in your shared bedroom.
Despite the strange predicament, Zhongli is very calm, he’s both patient and has a good sense—if this was a dangerous curse or spell that was difficult to reverse, he would likely sense it. Instead, he considers using this time to show and receive affection in a way you haven’t been able to before.
He often sits by your legs or thighs, he winds around them and rubs his furry cheeks along your clothes and pretty much anywhere he can reach. Your legs when he’s winding around them, your hand when you reach out to pet him, your cheek when he stands on your chest when you’re trying to read in bed before sleeping.
He purrs and cuddles with you, laying in your arms or over your lap—he even hid in your bag once when you went out for the day, and you discovered it too late to take him back home (you did wonder why your bag felt heavier than usual) and thus, he has the pleasure of accompanying you to your work—something he doesn’t often get the excuse or time to do.
Thankfully, Hu Tao didn’t question it when you came to her and said that Zhongli couldn’t come to work for a few days (hopefully just a few days). If anything, she sighed in relief and said something about him finally using his paid time off and sick days. Then thanks you for taking him out of commission???
You pour over some scrolls and papers to try and figure out how to turn Zhongli back, and he hops onto the desk in the study, nuzzling against your arm before sitting down, tail swaying as he joins you in searching for ways to bring him back to you in a more familiar form. Despite how cute he is like this.

Pankration - Wriothesley
Tumblr media
Pairing: Wriothesley x gn! Reader
Genre: hurt/comfort
Word Count: 900
Summary: Wriothesley is not impressed after you get hurt fighting in the Pankration Ring
CW: injury, reader gets stabbed, fighting, pre established relationship, soft! Wriothesley, mostly just fluffy hurt/comfort, probably some spoilers for 4.1
hello it is 230am and I just did the 4.1 quests for like ~4hrs and now I have major brain rot for this man. something about him just makes my little frog brain go feral. i haven’t finished the quest yet so apologies if something isn’t correct or if I misspelled something also not taking reqs rn but if yall have some ideas for this man i think i could take them
————
The familiar sound of heavy boot steps echoes down the halls, reverberating into the infirmary. Sigewinne gives you a wide eyed look but the panic fails to register, drowned out by the pain.
You writhe on the bed, forcing yourself into a sitting position. Sigewinne stands at your side, fiddling with her fingers behind her back.
As soon as Wriothesley enters the room, you can see he’s disgruntled. Your boyfriend says nothing as he locks eyes with you, trodding towards the end of the bed.
“What happened?”
Sigewinne tries to pipe up first. “Y/n got injured fighting in the Pankration Ring.”
Wriothesley’s features soften for a moment as he looks at the Melusine. “Sigewinne, could you leave us for a moment?”
She bows her head and scurries out of the room, as if sensing the anger radiating off of him. You clench your jaw and try to keep your eyes on random objects in the room, avoiding his gaze.
“Y/n.”
You don’t look at him, staring at an empty crate in the corner of the room.
“Y/n,” his tone is harsh.
You take a deep breath and allow yourself to make eye contact. Dark blue eyes look at you, partially in concern and partially in frustration. You shrink beneath his gaze.
“What were you thinking?” He sighs in exasperation, “the ring is for fighters. It’s for people who need a little extra stimulation in their lives—it’s not for people like you.”
You nod along with his words, shoulders slumping. Your stomach still aches from where you were grazed earlier in the day, all of your muscles serving as a sore reminder to your bitter loss.
You had just wanted to try it, just one time. You were put against another amateur fighter and you thought the fight would be easy enough. You were on the verge of winning, too. Another minute or so and the fight would have been yours.
And then your opponent slashed at you with a piece of scrap metal they’d welded to a ring and your chances of winning dropped to 0.
“I would have won,” you mumble bitterly. “I would have won if he hadn’t cheated.”
Wri’s eyes widen. “Cheated how?”
From the way his eyes darken, you almost regret mentioning it. “No weapons, no serious injuries, no killing. Those are the rules.”
“Yes.” He agrees.
You lift up the hem of your shirt and reveal the gauze around your waist. “He—he brought some sort of shank into the ring, and just as I was about to win…”
You don’t need to finish speaking for him to get the picture. Wriothesley sucks in a breath, shutting his eyes to gain his composure. He looks almost scary right now, his blue eyes almost black.
His tone is gentler now. “Do you remember who it was?”
You shake your head, “no, but I’m sure the promoter does.”
He considers this for a moment before excusing himself out of the room. You let yourself slump down into the bed, the pain growing worse as the medication Sigewinne gave you wears off. A few tears threaten to spill and your poor attempts to hold them back do nothing.
Wriothesley returns a few minutes later, a somber look on his face. “He’ll be dealt with,” he assures you, and leaves it at that.
You nod, worried that if you try to speak, the tears will come pouring out. You bite your lip to keep them back.
Wri settles on the edge of the bed, resting a hand on your shoulder. “How are you feeling?”
“I-I—” You don’t manage to say anything before the tears burst out.
He wraps his arms around you and pulls you into his lap, holding you against his chest. “Oh, baby,” he murmurs, petting your head, “I’m so sorry.”
He keeps a secure grip on you, being extra careful not to apply too much pressure to where you were grazed. He rocks you in his arms in an attempt to soothe you, calming you down from your sudden outburst.
He keeps you in his lap even when Sigewinne comes back into the room. The nurse holds out a small white container for you to take.
“These will help with the pain, but you need to see me every day so I can change your bandages.”
You swallow and go to speak, but Wriothesley does it for you. “Thank you, Sigewinne. I’ll be taking y/n back with me now.”
The Melusine grants you a kind smile. “Feel better now.”
You swing your feet over the side of the bed and brace yourself to stand, but Wri has other plans for you. He scoops you up bridal style into his arms as if you weigh nothing.
“You—you don’t need to carry me.”
He scoffs, “and let you walk right now?”
You sigh. He has a point.
It’s not a long walk back to his office, but between the exhaustion of the day and the soothing feeling of his arms around you, you can’t help but drift off.
Wriothesley looks down at your sleeping form and smiles. He knew you wouldn’t be able to resist falling asleep if he carried you—he’s just glad that you didn’t notice it took twice as long to get back to his office as it normally does.
He lays you down in his bed and kisses your forehead. “Rest up, baby.”

Infinite Possibilities of the Universe
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tech x fem!Reader / Tech x Jedi!Reader
Words: 9,466
Tags/Warnings: angst with a happy ending, grief/death/mourning, brief description of anxiety attack/autistic meltdown, reader is referred to as Sarad
Summary: You fell on Kaller, and Tech is the only one who can't let you go. But he knows what the others don't: you're alive, and you're coming back to him. All he has to do is be patient.
A/N: This is sad right up until the end I'm sorry. Thank you @baddest-batchers for the prompt!
Tumblr media
Dantooine’s sun shone down on the fields, glinting off of the armor and helmets of the Batch as they relaxed in the afternoon rays. Wrecker and Omega had run off a few hours ago to go find some animal or another, so it was just the boys and a few crates of spare parts that needed to be sorted and put away.
They were in no hurry, and so Hunter and Echo took up a spot by one of the few Blba trees around for miles and started going through the boxes, pulling out pieces that they could repair and reuse, setting aside what needed to be scrapped. It was mindless work, and so it wasn't long before they started up a game of saigok to pass the time.
Tech, as always, was holed up inside the Marauder. The rest of the squad could hear him tinkering around in there, and had learned to tune out the quiet sounds of clinking and clicking from inside.
This time, though, Echo heard the quiet murmur of his voice, and glanced over at Hunter.
The Sergeant was leaning back against the tree, arms folded and legs stretched out in front of him, eyes closed as he basked in the sunlight. He looked perfectly at peace, but Echo knew that he was very much aware of everything that was going on around him.
And yet he hadn’t said anything.
Echo frowned and turned to look over his shoulder, but all he could see was the open ramp of the Marauder, the top of which was hidden by a row of tall, green plants.
He turned back to his game with Hunter, trying to concentrate on the board and the pieces, but he couldn't get rid of the feeling that something was amiss.
It didn't take him long to lose his second piece. Hunter, ever the tactician, didn't comment on it, and so the two played on, both lost in their own thoughts until Echo couldn’t stand the silence anymore.
"Do you think Tech's alright?"
Hunter opened his eyes, looking at Echo. His expression didn't change, but he sat up straighter. “I'm sure he's fine."
Echo wasn't convinced. "He's been up there for a while. I don't think I've ever seen him this quiet."
Hunter shrugged. "He's probably tinkering with his new project, the one he keeps in his bunk."
"But—“
"I can hear him talking," Hunter interrupted, closing his eyes again. "He's just not talking to us. You know he does that sometimes."
“That's not the point." Echo looked back over his shoulder, trying to get a glimpse of whatever Tech was doing. "Something doesn't feel right."
Hunter was quiet for a moment, and then let out a sigh. “He’s talking to her.”
"Who? Omega?"
"No."
Echo thought back over the past months. He'd overheard Tech muttering to himself several times, but it was never about a her, as far as he could tell. Then it hit him.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"But she's—“
"I know," Hunter said. He sighed again and shifted, folding his arms behind his head and leaning back against the trunk. “But that's how Tech copes. He talks to her. She's not gone, not for him."
Echo wasn't quite sure how to respond to that, and so he didn't. Instead, he got to his feet and headed over to the Marauder.
Inside the cockpit, he could see the back of Tech's head as he sat in the pilot's seat. The door was open, and so Echo didn't feel the need to announce his presence. He walked down the hall, listening closely.
"—and the power converters in the shield generators have been giving me trouble lately. I'll need to do a more thorough investigation soon."
Echo ducked next to the wall of the cockpit, listening. Tech was silent for a moment, and when he spoke again, his voice was a little softer.
"You would love this planet, Sarad. There are hundreds of new species of creatures and flora to document. It's very beautiful here. You would enjoy the sunshine."
Echo felt a sharp pain in his chest. It wasn't just his mechanical parts, though those often ached with phantom pains, especially when it rained. This pain was different, and it made him pause. Your loss had hit them all hard, and even now, months later, he could feel the lingering effects.
Tech had taken it the hardest. Your relationship hadn't been a secret, and he'd spent nearly every waking hour with you when he could. And then...
Don't, he told himself, pushing the memories away. Just don't.
But he couldn't stop himself from looking up, his gaze landing on the little shelf that hung above Tech's bunk. On it among the scattered parts and tools sat a little model ship, a small clay flower, and a holo-pic.
It was a photo of the six of them, back on Coruscant, when things had been simpler. You were sitting on a crate, legs crossed, hands on your knees, a grin on your face. The others were gathered around you, and you couldn't tell by their smiles how much you had begged and pleaded with them to sit still for five minutes.
"What's the point of taking a holo-pic if we aren't going to smile?"
"A holo-pic isn't worth the hassle."
"Come on, it'll be fun! Tech, come here. I want you to be in it, too."
"But I'm busy."
"Please? For me?"
"...Very well."
Tech wasn't even looking at the camera, he was too busy watching you.
You had noticed, and you had reached over and gently nudged his arm, and the holo-pic captured the moment perfectly.
After the click of the camera you had jumped to your feet, excitedly showing off your own copy. Tech had tried to act indifferent, but Echo had noticed him looking at it often, and more than once had caught him smiling softly as he did so.
It had been Omega who suggested that the photo be added to the little shelf, despite never knowing you. And after a little persuasion from the rest of the crew, Tech had finally relented.
And now the picture was tucked into a frame next to the little clay flower you had made, the ship hanging above it. They were the only two things on the shelf that didn't belong to Tech, and they were the two things that Echo had never seen him without.
Echo hadn't thought much about it, but the memory was suddenly crystal clear. Tech, his arm around your waist, a soft smile on his face. The look in his gaze was unmistakable.
He loved you.
And now he was never going to see you again.
Echo looked away, swallowing the lump that rose in his throat. He didn't want to intrude any more than he already was, and so he retreated back down the ramp.
When he got back to the tree, Hunter had abandoned their game and was now sitting cross legged, elbows resting on his knees. He watched Echo approach and raised his eyebrows.
"Well?"
Echo sighed and sat down. "You were right."
"What did he say?"
Echo looked down, picking up a loose twig and turning it over in his hands. "Just...talking to her. About what they would do, if she was here."
Hunter didn't reply, and so Echo continued, "She'd like it here. It's peaceful. No wars."
He could feel Hunter's eyes on him, but kept his own eyes on the twig, running his thumb over the smooth bark.
"He's still waiting for her."
"I know."
Echo sighed. He hated not knowing what to do, especially when it came to Tech. "I wish he would talk to us about it. She's been gone for nearly four months. You'd think he would have let her go by now."
Hunter shook his head. "You and I both know that he's not going to let her go. Not as long as there's a chance she's still out there."
"But there isn't a chance," Echo pointed out, "He saw her fall, didn't he?"
"That's not what he believes."
"Why not?"
"You know why not," Hunter replied. "She was the only person who saw the galaxy the same way he did. They understood each other, and not in the way that we do."
"So what, we just let him go on thinking that she might still be out there? It's not good for him, you have to know that."
Hunter didn't respond right away.
"Tech knows what he's doing," he said finally. "If he wants our help, he'll ask for it. For now, we have to respect his boundaries. And that means no talking about her, not even in passing. If Tech wants to think that she's still out there, then that's what we have to let him believe. That's how he copes."
Echo wasn't thrilled, but he didn't want to go against Hunter's wishes, and so he stayed silent. He turned his attention back to the box of spare parts, and for a while the two of them worked in silence. But every once in a while, Echo would glance up at the Marauder and the tiny figure that was hunched over the navicomputer.
He knew that Hunter was right. There wasn't much that he could do to help. But that didn't mean he had to like it.
Tumblr media
Tech stared at the datapad in his hand, but his mind wasn't really on the screen. Instead, his thoughts were turned towards the planet outside and the sun-soaked fields that he had left his brothers in. He knew that it was a beautiful day, but he couldn't bring himself to get up and go out there.
Not while Sarad wasn't with him.
His fingers tightened around the edges of the datapad, knuckles turning white. A sudden surge of anger coursed through him, and he wanted nothing more than to hurl the datapad across the cockpit, but he managed to reign it in and set the device down on the console, his grip still tight.
He didn't know why it bothered him so much, having to spend this day alone. The anniversary of your first meeting had never seemed like a big deal to him before. Of course, that was because you had been there. Now, though, with nothing but empty space between him and the rest of the galaxy, he had never felt so isolated.
He had been trying to distract himself, but none of his usual tinkering projects could hold his attention. Nothing seemed to be able to block out the emptiness, and his anger.
Tech had never liked anger. It was messy, unorganized, and dangerous. It had been a long time since he had last felt the full force of his anger, but now it was back, and it was worse than before.
Because, unlike before, his anger was mixed with grief.
You had talked about it once, when you were lying in his bunk, curled up against each other, your head tucked against his neck, fingers tracing absent patterns over his chest.
"What would you do, if something happened to me?"
He had frowned, not understanding why you would ask him such a thing. "Nothing will happen to you."
"Just pretend," you'd insisted. "If I were gone, what would you do?"
He had tried to imagine it, and the thought had sent a chill down his spine. He had never felt that way about someone before, and the thought of losing you was too terrible to even consider.
"I'd find you," he'd said.
"But what if you couldn't?"
"That is not possible. There is no place that you could go that I would not follow. Even if we were separated by the entire galaxy, I would still find a way."
"Tech, come on. Pretend with me. If you couldn't find me, and you thought I was gone, what would you do?"
He had considered your words for a moment, then answered, "I would keep looking. You wouldn't leave me. Not without telling me first."
You had lifted your head, a small, sad smile on your lips. "How do you know that?"
"I just do."
The look in your eyes was indecipherable. "You can't know that. There are no guarantees, Tech. If I'm gone, then I'm gone. I'm part of the living Force, and eventually I'll return. You can't stay stuck on me. You'll have to move on, one way or another."
He hadn't liked that idea. He couldn't even fathom the possibility of her being gone.
"No."
"Tech..."
"No," he'd said, more firmly this time. "You wouldn't leave. You wouldn't. And I will always find you."
Your eyes were shining, and he didn't understand.
"Why are you talking about this?" he'd asked. "There's no reason for you to leave. You'll stay with us."
"You don't know that. There's a war, Tech, anything could happen."
"No."
"But—"
"We are not talking about this anymore." He'd said, cutting you off. He couldn't bear to think about it, and he was beginning to feel uneasy. You were the first person who had ever cared about him, and the idea of losing you was unfathomable.
"But—"
"Stop," he'd said, more harshly than he'd meant to.
You'd stopped, staring at him. Then, slowly, your head had lowered, and you'd pressed your face against his neck again.
"I'm sorry," you'd said quietly.
"It's alright," he'd replied, feeling bad about the way he had snapped at you. He hadn't meant to get angry, but the thought of losing you was terrifying. He needed you.
You'd pulled yourself closer, arms wrapping around him, holding onto him as tightly as you could. He'd hugged you back, and the two of you had laid there together, and eventually, you had fallen asleep.
Tech lied awake that night, staring at the ceiling, trying to imagine what it would be like if you were gone.
He hadn't been able to do it.
And yet, here he was, barely keeping a tight grip on his emotions, the ache in his chest threatening to consume him.
It wasn't fair.
None of this was fair.
Tech had always tried to accept things as they were. It was easier, and he had never found it worth the effort to question his reality. Sarad, though, had been different.
Sarad had never accepted the world as it was. You had never allowed yourself to settle for things that were. And so you had changed everything, just by being there. But now you were gone. And so the galaxy, and his life, had returned to its previous state.
Tech's eyes burned, but he was able to keep the tears at bay. It was the same way that he had done every day since you fall.
It isn't fair, he thought again. It isn't fair.
If only you were here, Sarad. You could fix this. You could fix anything.
His thoughts drifted back to his brothers, who were undoubtedly wondering what was wrong with him. He knew that they had questions, but they would never ask him. They had an unspoken agreement to never talk about you, and while he appreciated their respect, he couldn't help but wish that they would break it, just this once.
Then maybe he wouldn't have to sit here alone, the cockpit cold and dark around him, as he tried to keep his anger under control.
Sarad would have known what to do.
A memory surfaced, and for the first time in months, he let it come.
It had been early in the morning, and they had been on an unknown planet, waiting for a storm to pass before they could leave. They had all been asleep, except for Sarad, who had decided to go outside to get some air. You had asked him if he wanted to come with you, and so the two of you had stepped outside into the cool darkness.
The storm clouds had blocked out the stars and the moonlight, and it was pitch black outside. You had held onto his arm, and he had kept a hand on the blaster at his hip, as neither of them could see more than a few feet in front of them. And when you were far enough away from camp, you stopped.
"Isn't it amazing?"
Tech had looked at you. "What is?"
"The universe," you said, staring up at the sky. "All the planets, and the stars, and the endless possibilities."
"It's certainly a vast place," Tech had replied, "but what exactly makes it amazing?"
"The fact that it exists."
"Many things exist. Most people wouldn't find that particularly exciting."
"True," you had said. "But it's different when it comes to the universe."
"I'm not sure I understand."
"I suppose I could compare it to an individual," you had mused, "If you had lived your whole life knowing only the inside of one small house, and then suddenly you found out that there was a whole galaxy beyond it, wouldn't you be excited to see the stars?"
"I would be curious, yes."
"I feel the same way, but with the universe. Every time I look up at the stars, I know that there are millions of other planets, with thousands of other species. The sheer chance of a person like me existing in a place like this is astounding. So many things have had to go just right, and even then, the probability of my being here, now, is almost infinitesimal."
"The chances of a life such as ours are incredibly slim," Tech had agreed.
"I think that's what makes it special."
"What do you mean?"
"The universe is infinite," you had explained, "So the chances of my ever meeting someone from another part of the galaxy are infinitesimally small. But because the universe is infinite, that means that there are an infinite number of possibilities. And so there's a possibility that we could meet, that we could work together. The chances are so slim that they're practically nonexistent, but the possibilities are infinite."
"I don't know that I would have ever thought about it that way."
"Well, then, maybe we could explore the infinite possibilities of the universe together," you had suggested with a shrug of your shoulder. "It'll be fun. Just the two of us."
"And what if our infinite possibilities are limited to the confines of a single ship?"
"That would be fine," you had told him, smiling. "As long as we're together, then it doesn't matter where we go."
The memory ended there, and Tech blinked, realizing that his vision was blurry. A single tear had escaped his control, and he reached up and wiped it away with the back of his hand.
He missed you.
There were so many things that he wanted to say, so many words that had never been said. There was so much that you had left unfinished, so many plans and ideas that you had yet to accomplish, and now he feared it was too late.
Tech turned his focus back to his datapad, scrolling through the files. He stopped on one in particular, and for a moment, just looked at it.
Then he hit play.
It was a video, recorded shortly after his brothers had left you alone for the night. He hadn't been sure why he had made it at the time, but looking back now, he could see the reason. He had wanted to remember you.
The video began to play, and his breath caught in his throat as he watched you, bathed in the pale light of the computer, eyes shining as you spoke. You looked at the camera, and for a moment, Tech felt as though you were looking straight at him.
He couldn't hear the words, not anymore. But he knew them by heart, and so his mouth moved silently as he watched the recording, committing every moment, every gesture, every expression to memory.
“What are you doing?” Sarad asked, looking at the camera.
Tech had shifted, feeling the slightest bit uncomfortable.
"Just...recording."
"Recording what?"
"This," he had answered, gesturing around him. It hadn’t been a very good answer, and you had laughed.
"Why?"
"To...to document our trip."
"That sounds very scientific."
"It is."
"Well, I don't really understand," you had replied, "But I suppose you could always explain it to me later."
"I'll have to. I'm sure you'll have plenty of questions."
"Then you'll have to tell me everything," you had said. "And don't leave anything out. I want to know every detail."
"That will take quite a while."
"Then we'll just have to spend a lot of time together."
"Is that an invitation?"
"Perhaps," you had replied. Then, smiling, "Yes, I suppose it is. I would like to spend a lot of time with you, Tech."
"Then perhaps I will tell you," he had said.
You had smiled, and he had smiled back.
"I look forward to it."
When the video ended, he started it again, watching the familiar image, memorizing the way your hands moved and the curve of your smile and the brightness of your eyes. He watched it until his eyes burned, and then he watched it once more.
And when the pain became too much, and the anger rose up and threatened to overwhelm him, he played it again, and again, and again.
And eventually, the pain subsided, and the anger was pushed aside, and all he felt was you.
"I look forward to it," the recording said.
"I do, too," Tech murmured.
“You’ll have to tell me everything.”
"Then we'll just have to spend a lot of time together."
He could see the love in your eyes, and his breath caught in his throat. He hadn’t seen it then, hadn’t even considered the possibility. But looking back now, the memory of your love was so clear, and it took his breath away.
"Yes, I suppose it is. I would like to spend a lot of time with you, Tech."
He watched the video once more, and when it was over, he closed the tab and stared at his reflection in the blank screen.
He could still feel the anger, but it had lessened, and was no longer directed at the universe. It was, instead, aimed at himself.
You should have known, he thought, his fingers tightening around the edges of the datapad. You should have seen the signs. You should have said something.
It isn’t a logical thought. He couldn’t have known what would happen on Kaller and everything that followed, and he had had no reason to believe that anything would change.
And yet, his mind was convinced that he had missed something, that he could have prevented you from ever leaving his side.
It isn't logical, but he still feels it.
Slowly, his grip on the datapad eased, and he turned his attention back to his reflection. He saw his eyes were rimmed with red, and his hair was tousled from where he had run his hands through it.
Sarad would have liked that.
You would have teased him for his messy hair, and then you would have smoothed it out and laughed. You would have been the only person he would have let do something like that.
His hands were shaking, and he took a deep breath, forcing his muscles to relax.
It will pass, he told himself. It will pass. I will see her again. It will pass.
He repeated the phrase over and over in his mind, letting the words fill him and block out the anger. He had lost you, but you weren't gone. Not forever.
There, buried in the scores of data files and programs that made up his datapad, was the last message he received from you. Dated nearly three months ago, it was heavily encrypted, and he’d required a cypher to unlock it.
Inside, there was a simple message:
"I'm safe, and I'm alive. I'll find you again. No matter what happens, I love you. Sarad."
Tech had spent the first month after Kaller trying to decipher the message. It had taken him days, but when he finally figured it out, the words had been like a lifeline. There were no coordinates, and no indication of where you had gone. All Tech had was your promise, and his belief that you would always keep your word. He knew that the message was a risk, but you had known that he would never stop looking, and so you had sent him something to hold on to, and it had been enough.
He had held onto your words since, keeping them close to his heart. He had read the message hundreds of times, and had never gotten tired of it. And whenever he felt lost, or alone, or angry, he would read it once more, and allow the words to guide him back.
They were a promise, and so he would wait.
He would wait, and when you came back to him, he would be ready. He would never let you go.
Then, as the sun began to set outside, he put the datapad aside and looked up. Outside the window, the stars were beginning to appear. And, he thought, if his infinite possibilities were limited to the confines of a single ship, then he would spend the rest of his life traveling with you.
And so he turned the lights off and sat in the dark, the stars reflecting in his goggles as he gazed out at the galaxy.
And he waited.
Tumblr media
Tech waited until the others had fallen asleep before settling into the cockpit. He didn't want any distractions, just as he didn’t want his brothers to worry. They would, though, even without him saying a word. They were good at that.
He didn’t mind, though. He only wished he could tell them the truth. But it wasn’t his secret to share. They wouldn’t believe him anyway, he knew, and so it was better this way.
So, when the lights were out and the engines had quieted, he slipped away from the bunks and down the hall, taking his place at the pilot's seat.
He sat down and leaned back, getting comfortable before he took out his datapad and typed in the code. A single message appeared on the screen, and Tech read it one more time, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.
"I'm safe, and I'm alive. I'll find you again. No matter what happens, I love you. Sarad."
Satisfied, he closed the message and lifted his hand to the recording device on his goggles, and started a new file.
"Hello Sarad. Today, we logged a total of 17 hours in hyperspace, which brings our total log to 18,802 hours. The others have grown tired of counting, but I have continued the process. In fact, I believe we will be able to exceed 20,000 hours by the end of the year."
Tech paused, and then took a deep breath.
"There isn't much to report today, and so I have decided to share a few memories. First, I would like to remind you of the time we were stranded on Mygeeto, when we got lost in the mountains and spent three days trying to find our way back to the others."
Tech smiled, remembering the snow and the cold and the laughter. It was the first time the two of them had ever argued, but by the end of it, they were laughing so hard she could barely walk.
"I recall that I had told you several times to wear warmer clothing," he went on, "but you had insisted that the extra layers would hinder your movement. I am pleased to report that you eventually listened, although not until the second day, and the result was that you had to wear half of my gear and could hardly move without assistance."
He smiled at the memory, and then continued, detailing the various mishaps and misadventures of that mission. “You didn't mind, though, and you even thanked me. I have never heard anyone thank me for being right before, but I suppose there's a first time for everything."
He paused, and his voice grew quiet.
"You were the first to admit that you had been wrong, and the first to apologize. That was something else that I hadn't experienced before. Your apology was accepted, of course. I never held the incident against you, and I have never been able to be mad at you for more than a few minutes. That hasn't changed, either."
Tech sighed and adjusted his glasses.
"We're almost to our destination. The others are asleep, and the ship is quiet. I know you would enjoy the peace and quiet. There's no sound quite like the hum of the engines, and the silence of space."
He fell silent, thinking about what he wanted to say next. He took another breath, and his next words were spoken almost reverently.
"I miss you, Sarad. I hope you are well. I know that you will contact me when you are ready, and I am confident that it will be soon. But until then, I will keep the record, and I will share it with you when you return. For now, though, I will wait.
"I love you, Sarad. And I will see you soon."
And, his eyes fixed on the stars outside, he reached up and switched off the recording.
For a while, he just sat there, staring out the window at the stars. They blurred, and he blinked, the tears gathering on his eyelashes. He wiped them away, and then looked down at his hands. They were still shaking, and he curled them into fists, trying to stop the tremors.
Eventually, the shaking stopped, and Tech looked up at the stars again. He didn't know why he was shaking, or why his hands were sweating, or why his throat felt so tight.
Perhaps it is because I am afraid, he thought.
It wasn't a pleasant feeling, but it was true.
He was afraid, because he didn't know when, or even if, you would contact him again. He didn't know if he would see you again. And even if he did, he didn't know what would happen.
So many questions, and so few answers.
He was used to working with facts, but he was finding that this situation was lacking. And that meant that he didn't know what would happen.
It was frightening, the not knowing.
Tech was used to being in control. It was his job, as the technician and navigator of the team. He had to know how to fix things, and when to do it, and where. But he had no control over you, and no control over the galaxy, and no control over the future.
And that scared him.
But then, suddenly, he remembered something you had said to him, long ago, on a different planet and a different day.
You'd asked him about a strange phenomena occurring on the horizon, and he had floundered in his answer. The best he could ascertain, it was some sort of magnetic field, caused by a large mass of rock below the surface. He hadn’t been certain, and it had bothered him.
He had been frustrated, but you had only smiled and placed a hand on his arm.
"That's okay," you'd told him. "It doesn't have to have an explanation. It can just be. If we try to figure out the cause of everything, we won't have time to enjoy it.”
He had tried to argue, but had eventually given in.
"Besides," you'd added, "I'd rather spend time with you, and not on finding the answer.”
Your words had surprised him, and for a moment, he hadn’t been able to respond.
"You...want to spend time with me?"
"Of course I do," you had replied.
"But...why?"
"Because I love you."
He'd been speechless.
"Oh," he'd said.
You'd laughed, and he had been able to do nothing but stand there and stare at you.
"I'm sorry," you had said. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"No, no," he had managed. "It's...I'm fine. Just...you..."
"Love you?"
"Yes."
"I do."
"Oh."
Tech had had no idea how to respond. The words didn't seem real. But when you had smiled, and reached for his hand, he had finally begun to understand.
"I'm sorry," you had apologized again. "I've wanted to say that for a while, but I wasn't sure how. I thought that you would find it odd."
“You are odd, yes," he had agreed, "but not in the way you think."
"What do you mean?"
"I find you to be odd in a pleasant way," he had explained. "You're...different. In a good way."
"That's very poetic, coming from you."
"I was not being poetic," he had corrected you. "I was simply stating the truth."
Sarad had laughed again. "So what is it, then?"
"You are unique," he had told you. "There is no one else like you. You are an anomaly, and a rare one at that. I am glad to have met you."
You had been quiet for a moment.
"I'm glad, too," you had said.
And then you had kissed him, and he had felt something new and exciting and wonderful.
"I love you," you had murmured.
He had been unable to say the words back, but he had known that he would say them one day. And, after that, every day.
And so he had kissed you, and the two of you had watched the lightshow together, and it had been perfect.
Tech looked up at the stars now, remembering the way the sky had glowed, and the warmth of your hand on his arm.
That was where his memory ended. But the words came back to him, and he found himself repeating them.
"I love you," he whispered.
The words seemed small and insignificant compared to the vastness of space, and the galaxy, and all the planets and stars beyond. But they were real, and they were true, and that was all that mattered.
They were real, and so were you.
And the not knowing was terrifying, but Tech was patient. He would wait, and he would see you again. And the words would mean more then, because he would be able to say them, and you would hear them, and everything would be alright.
Tech believed in the infinite possibilities of the universe, and this was his.
This was his, and so he would wait, and he would remember, and he would know that the words were true, and someday, he would say them to you again.
Tumblr media
Every day, Tech waited for a signal.
And every day, there was nothing.
His patience began to wane, and every time the Marauder made a stop, he would search the area for a sign, a clue, anything that would lead him to you. But he never found anything, and he would have to go back to the ship empty-handed.
His recordings to you were becoming short, and less frequent. He couldn't hide the bitterness and disappointment from his voice, and so he recorded fewer messages.
He didn't know why you hadn't contacted him. Maybe it was because you didn't want to.
But no. You loved him.
He didn't want to consider the alternative.
You loved him. You wouldn't have left him.
Would you?
He didn't know, and that scared him.
What if you didn't want to see him? What if you had found someone else?
What if you had realized that you were better off without him?
No.
You loved him. You would never leave him. Not forever.
And yet, he was beginning to wonder.
What if it had been a mistake? What if he had been wrong, and you weren't safe, or alive?
No.
You were alive. You had to be.
And yet, as the days wore on, he found himself doubting.
The distance between them was supposed to keep her safe, but maybe it wasn't enough. Maybe something had happened. Maybe you had changed your mind.
He tried to reassure himself. You were a capable Jedi, and if anyone could handle themselves in the face of danger, it was you.
But the longer you were gone, the harder it was to convince himself that you were still alive.
It didn't help that he hadn't received a single message since that first one. He'd had no word, no hint of your location, or condition, or state of mind.
It was frustrating, and he hated it.
He hated the waiting, and the uncertainty.
And so, as the months went by, and the number of his messages began to dwindle, his doubt grew. Much had changed in his life in the last months. They’d stopped fighting, stopped running, and had moved on to a new place to call home.
They had moved on, and so had he.
Well, most of him.
Some part of him was still waiting, and some part of him was still looking for a sign, for a message, for anything that would let him know that you were alive.
And, as the months went by, he realized that this wasn't going to change.
So he recorded one final message.
"Hello, Sarad. I know that this will be the last recording I make, as I am unsure when, or if, you will ever return. But I want to assure you that I am doing well, and so are my brothers.
"We are settled on a planet called Pabu, and we are all enjoying the peace and quiet. I know that you would enjoy the atmosphere here, as well. The sunsets are particularly beautiful, and I can't help but wonder if you have seen any yourself."
He paused, his throat constricting slightly.
"I miss you," he said quietly. "But I hope that you are happy, wherever you are. I know that it isn't fair of me to ask, and I don't expect an answer, but I do wish you would tell me.
"Tell me if you are safe. Tell me if you are well. Tell me if you have forgotten me. Please, Sarad, just tell me something. Anything."
He was quiet for a moment, and then shook his head.
"But you won't answer, will you? And you won't tell me. And so I will have to move on. It is the logical thing to do, and I am certain that it will benefit me greatly."
Tech fell silent again. His throat felt dry, and his eyes were burning. He didn't know why, but it was getting hard to breathe.
"I want to apologize," he continued, "for being so impatient. And I want to tell you that I don't blame you, and that I still care for you, and that I understand if you have chosen to forget me. But I want to thank you for the time we spent together. It was an experience unlike any other, and I am grateful for it. I will not forget you, Sarad. I hope that you will not forget me."
Tech's hands were trembling, and he took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
"I hope you are well. And, if we never meet again, I wish you luck. I wish you happiness. And, most of all, I wish you peace."
Tech paused, and then, in a small voice, added:
"I love you."
The last message uploaded to his datapad, and Tech stared down at the file, his heart aching. He could feel the tears beginning to fall, and he wiped them away angrily.
Why was he crying? There was no reason to.
But still, the tears continued, and Tech let them come. He would cry for Sarad, and for the life that he would never have with you. He would cry for the love that he had lost, and the pain that he had endured, and the hope that had slowly died inside him.
And, when his tears were spent, he would close the file, and he would put his emotions aside, and he would move on.
He would have to.
Because that was the logical thing to do.
Tech looked up, and the stars were blurred by the tears. He blinked, and the image cleared.
He would have to move on.
He would have to, but not yet.
His finger hovered over the message, and then he pressed delete.
The file disappeared, and Tech watched the screen for a moment, the only sound the beating of his own heart.
He would have to move on, but not yet.
Not tonight.
Not while the sky was so full of stars. Not while the night was so quiet, and the wind so gentle, and the grass so soft beneath his feet.
Not while the memories were so clear.
Tech leaned back against the cool metal of the ship, his eyes fixed on the stars, and he let his thoughts drift.
He remembered the way you had looked at him, and the way you had touched him, and the way you had loved him. He remembered the way your hair had shone in the starlight, and the way your hands had felt against his skin. He remembered the way your lips had tasted, and the way your arms had held him, and the way your laughter had sounded, so sweet and joyful and free.
And he remembered the way the moonlight had danced across your features, and the way the breeze had ruffled your hair, and the way your smile had made him feel alive.
Tech closed his eyes, and let the memories wash over him.
And for a moment, just one brief, shining moment, the darkness was filled with starlight.
Tumblr media
The day started like any other.
Tech woke up at the same time, dressed, and made his way to the kitchen, where Hunter was already making breakfast. He sat down at the table, and began scrolling through the daily news on his datapad, searching for anything of interest.
"Anything interesting happen yesterday?" Hunter asked, placing a plate of food in front of him.
"Not much," Tech replied, taking a bite of his breakfast. "A few minor scuffles, and a large cargo transport crash. It seems that the pilot was intoxicated, and he managed to take out half a block."
"Sounds fun," Hunter replied dryly. "Anything else?"
"Just the usual," Tech replied.
Hunter hummed in acknowledgement, and then asked, "How about last night? Did you stay up late recording more of those messages?"
Tech hesitated. He hadn't told Hunter about the messages, or any of his brothers. He assumed they knew, but they couldn’t know their purpose, and so he had kept the messages private.
"Yes," he finally answered. "I did."
"How many do you have now?"
"A few," Tech answered, his tone noncommittal.
"How many is a few?"
"Several."
"Dozens?"
"Yes." He twisted his mouth. “Hundreds.”
"Have you ever thought about sharing them?"
"No," Tech answered immediately.
"Why not?"
"Because they're private," Tech replied, his voice a little sharper than intended. “Because they're for her, and only her."
Hunter sighed, and Tech could feel the disappointment in the sound. He knew that his brother didn't understand his actions, but Tech didn't need him to. He knew what he was doing.
"You're still waiting, then."
"Yes."
"Tech, it's been over a year," Hunter said quietly. "She's gone."
"She's not gone," Tech replied, his grip on his fork tightening.
"Tech," Hunter repeated, his voice firmer.
His fork clattered against the plate, and Tech pushed his chair back, standing up.
"She's not dead," he snapped, his hand curling into a fist. "She's alive. She has to be."
"Tech, please," Hunter pleaded. "Don't go. I'm just trying to help."
"I don't need your help," Tech shot back. "And I don't need you to tell me what to do. So, if you'll excuse me, I have a message to record."
He rounded the table, brushing past his brother. But as he did, Hunter reached out and caught his arm. Tech glared at him, but Hunter didn't flinch. He just looked at him, and Tech felt his anger falter.
"Vod," Hunter said, his voice low. "Please. She's not coming back. And these recordings are just going to make things worse. "I know it's hard, but you have to let her go."
"I will," Tech replied. "But not today."
"Tech..."
"No," Tech cut him off. He pulled his arm from Hunter's grip and straightened his shoulders. "I won't do it."
"Tech, please," Hunter said. "I just want you to be happy."
"I will," Tech replied, his voice tight. "But not today."
"Alright, Tech." Hunter sighed and stepped back, his hand falling to his side. "Alright. Not today."
"Thank you," he managed. He swallowed hard and nodded. “I will see you at dinner, I assume."
"Of course," Hunter replied, his voice equally quiet.
Tech left the kitchen and made his way back to his room, ignoring the stares of Wrecker and Omega as he passed. He was sure they would ask Hunter about his outburst, and he was sure that Hunter would tell them. He didn't care. Let them talk. They didn't know anything.
He knew that they thought he was delusional. That he was clinging to false hope. That he was denying reality. And maybe they were right. But he couldn't stop. He couldn't just give up. Not when there was a chance, no matter how small, that he would see you again. And until that chance was gone, he would continue to wait.
The door slammed shut behind him, and Tech dropped onto his bed, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. His leg bounced restlessly at his side, and he could feel his pulse pounding in his ears.
It was too loud, too bright, too much.
He needed to calm down. He needed to focus.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He focused on his breathing, on the sound of his heartbeat, on the feeling of the sheets beneath his fingers. You had helped him practice this exercise before, and he could remember the way you had guided him, your voice soft and gentle as you sat next to him on the floor of the cockpit.
Tech inhaled deeply, and then exhaled, slowly, letting his breath out in a long, steady stream. The sound of his breathing filled the room, and he felt himself relax. He continued the exercise, repeating the motions until his heart rate had slowed, and his breathing had evened out
He could still feel the anger, but it was lessening. He could still hear the voices of his brothers, but they were becoming muffled. He could still see the sunlight filtering through the window, but the glare was beginning to fade.
He breathed, and the world around him settled. He felt drained, and he lay back on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
It wasn't supposed to be like this.
He was supposed to see you again. You were supposed to be happy. You were supposed to be safe.
You weren't supposed to be gone.
Tech didn't move for a long time, and when he finally did, it was only to get up and check his datapad. He had no new messages, and so he placed it on the nightstand and turned away.
The day dragged on, and Tech did his best to keep himself occupied. He tinkered with his new projects, cleaned the kitchen, and reorganized his storage of supplies. He didn’t speak at dinner, and no one commented. By the time evening rolled around, he was exhausted, and he found himself back in his room, alone with his thoughts.
He didn't know what to do, and so he sat on his bed, the datapad in his hands, and waited.
The day had been uneventful, and the hours had passed slowly. The sun had set, and the stars had come out, and still, he had no answers.
It was late now, and he was tired. He wanted nothing more than to sleep, but he knew he wouldn't be able to. Not with the anger and frustration and hurt gnawing at his heart.
He didn't know why he was feeling this way, and it only made him angrier.
He wanted answers, but there were none.
There were no messages, no clues, no sign of you.
Just the stars, and the darkness, and the silence.
Tech sighed, and placed the datapad on the nightstand once more. He resigned himself to another sleepless night, and was about to turn out his light when a hard knock pounded on his door.
Tech jolted upright, his heart leaping in his chest. He hadn't expected anyone, and for a moment, he could only sit there, his mind racing.
The door swung open, and Wrecker came barreling in. The force of the door hitting the wall sent a shower of dust raining down from the ceiling, and Tech held his breath as he saw Sarad's clay flower teeter on its perch.
"Tech!" Wrecker bellowed.
"Wrecker, keep it down," Tech hissed, leaping forward to steady the flower. "The others are asleep."
“You need to come outside. Now."
"What?" Tech turned, the flower in his hands. "Why?"
"Just come," Wrecker replied.
"Fine," Tech sighed, carefully placing the flower back on the shelf. As soon as it was back in its place, Wrecker wrapped a hand around his arm and dragged him from the room.
"Wrecker," Tech protested. "Let me go."
"Sorry, can't do that," Wrecker replied, practically shoving him down the hall.
They were nearly at the front door when Hunter and Omega appeared, their eyes wide and hair messy.
"What's going on?" Tech asked, trying and failing to pry his brother's hand off his arm.
"Echo just landed," Hunter replied. "He says there's something we need to see."
Tech’s brow furrowed in confusion. They hadn’t been expecting Echo to return for several weeks, and he had no idea what could be so urgent.
"What is it?"
"He wouldn't say," Hunter replied. "But he sounded pretty shaken."
Tech felt a twinge of worry. Echo wasn't the type to overreact, and if he was acting strangely, there was probably a good reason.
"Then we should hurry," Tech said, his voice tense.
"Right," Hunter replied. "Come on."
They followed Hunter out the door, and up the path that led to the landing pad. They didn't speak, and Tech was glad. He didn't think he would be able to carry a conversation right now. The village was dark, and the streets were empty. The only sound was the echo of their footsteps as they hurried along.
Finally, they reached the landing pad, and Tech saw the outline of the Remora in the distance, its lights glowing softly.
As they approached, Echo strode down the ramp, his face drawn and pale.
"Hey," Hunter said, his voice worried. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Echo replied, his voice shaky. "I'm fine."
"What happened?"
"I don't know," Echo said, his voice trembling slightly. "But I think you should see this."
He gestured to the ship, and Tech and his brothers stepped forward, following Echo up the ramp.
The inside of the Remora was dimly lit, and Tech squinted, trying to make out the details. As his eyes adjusted, he realized that there was someone sitting in the navigator's chair.
"Echo, what—“
His question died in his throat as the figure turned around, and Tech felt the world tilt beneath his feet.
It was you.
You were here.
You were alive.
Your name came out as a strangled cry, and he stumbled towards you, his heart hammering in his chest. He could hear his brothers calling out behind him, their voices distant and muted. He barely registered their words, or their presence, or anything other than the sight of you in front of him.
You were real.
"Sarad," he breathed.
Your lips curled into a smile, and you reached out, your hand resting gently on his cheek. Your touch was warm, and soft, and familiar, and he felt the tears spring to his eyes.
"My love," you whispered, and he closed his eyes, allowing the sound of your voice to wash over him. It was music, and joy, and home, and it was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard.
"Sarad," he murmured, leaning into your touch.
"I'm here," you replied softly. He felt the tears spilling over, and you wiped them away gently.
"You're here," he choked out, his voice thick with emotion.
"Tech." You said his name like a prayer, and he opened his eyes, gazing at you. "I'm sorry it took me so long."
He didn't reply. Instead, he closed the distance between you, and his arms were around you before he even realized what he was doing. He pulled you to him, his grip tightening as he felt the solid warmth of your body. You were here. You were real.
"You're here," he breathed, his voice muffled by your shoulder. "You're alive."
"Yes." Your voice shook, and your arms tightened around him. "I'm here. I'm alive."
He held you for a moment longer, and then drew back, his hands cupping your face. He studied your features, taking in the sight of you. You looked tired, but there was no mistaking the warmth and affection in your gaze.
“You changed your hair," he said, running a hand through the short strands. The words came out hoarse and broken, and he swallowed thickly, trying to regain control.
"Yeah," you murmured, your fingers curling around his wrist.
"It suits you," he said. He was having a hard time forming complete sentences. He wanted to say so many things, but the words were stuck in his throat.
You laughed, the sound weak and breathless, but it was a laugh, and Tech found himself smiling.
"Tech, I'm sorry," you said, your voice shaking. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know how to contact you. I couldn't—“
"It's alright," Tech said, his voice quiet. "It's okay. You're here now."
"I missed you," you said, tears welling in your eyes.
"I missed you too," he replied, his thumb brushing across your cheek. “I can't believe you're here. I didn't think—"
He broke off, his voice faltering.
"You're really here," he whispered.
"Yes," you replied, your hand curling around his.
"I was so afraid," he confessed, his voice barely a whisper. "I thought...I thought I'd lost you."
"I'm sorry," you murmured, pressing a kiss to his palm. "I'm so sorry."
"I don't care," Tech said, his voice steadying. "I don't care about the past. All that matters is that you're here. You're alive. You're home."
"Home," you repeated, your eyes meeting his. "That sounds nice."
He kissed you then, and he felt your arms wrap around him, pulling him close. He poured every ounce of love and longing and joy into the kiss, and when you finally drew back, both of you were breathless.
"I love you," he whispered, his forehead resting against yours.
"I love you too," you replied, your voice trembling slightly.
"I didn't say it enough." Tech's voice was thick with emotion.
"That's okay," you said, a smile spreading across your lips. "I knew."
"No," he said, shaking his head. "I should have said it. Every day."
"You can start now," you said, your hand reaching up to cup his cheek.
"I love you," he breathed. "So much."
"I love you, too," you said, tears welling in your eyes.
Tech drew you into another kiss, and this one was softer, more tender. It was a promise, and a vow, and a declaration of love, and when he pulled back, he felt his breath catch in his throat. Your eyes were bright with tears, and your lips were trembling, but you were alive. You were here, and you were safe. And he loved you so much, it was like a physical ache.
"Don't cry," he murmured, brushing them away.
"I'm sorry," you laughed weakly. "I just can't believe it. I never thought...I'm just so happy. So, so happy."
"I am too," he said, his voice shaking slightly. "So happy. And I have so much to tell you. So much has happened. But...there is time for that later. For now, I just want to be here. With you."
"Yes," you whispered. "I'd like that."
You leaned in, resting your head against his chest, and his arms wrapped around you, holding you close. And, as you clung to him, and the tears began to fall, Tech couldn’t help but be grateful for the infinite possibilities of the universe, and the chance it had given him to be with you again.

Nezuko!reader × Alastor please🙏
Haha! Awww! I am not sure it’s platonic or romantic but I’ll go with what I’m thinking. I think Alastor would have lots of fun with a Nezuko!
Alastor- Bamboo Binds
Tumblr media
You’re one of the weirdest demons he’s ever seen. You don’t want to eat demons? What’s the point of being in Hell then if you don’t sin. That’s how Alastor feels and that’s how he thinks as he watches you with the sharpest eye a deer like him can at your entrance to the Hotel
As soon as Charlie checked you in to the Hotel, she begun introducing you around and trying to have you befriend everybody but yet, you somehow clicked the most with Alastor. Nobody can explain it, you just did
Alastor can’t help but view you as an attached kitten, following him around, your off yet cute bamboo muzzle, light pink kimono and long haori covering your body well, light pink slit eyes. You’re so cute, like a child. He can’t help but view you as a child… a naive, easily manipulated little one
Alastor eventually ‘adopts’ you after pretending he doesn’t even acknowledge your presence around him for quite some time. He finds you way too perfect for his own purpose to just ignore your existence further so he goes from ignoring to openly addressing you
Alastor just drags you around when he needs you. He has a tab on you so he can teleport you from place to place with his voodoo magic. He nicknames you ‘Kitten’ so his voodoo entities know the target but he won’t ever explain how he managed to spread his magic onto you
Alastor isn’t the biggest fan of your bamboo muzzle since it’s restricting your ability to communicate so the only way he knows your answer is based on nonsense muffles and your gestures. At least, you’re naive enough for this to work
Alastor isn’t entirely sure what to call you. You’re not necessarily a younger sibling or a child figure to him but he also doesn’t feel comfortable with calling you a servant. You’re just some type of thing he favours and appreciates but also needs for his own selfish reasons
Alastor may pretend he doesn’t truly care for you but he does. He’ll put on your muzzle for you, he’ll crate a shade for you so you can walk in the sun of the Pride Ring without being burnt and he’ll give you a corner for you to sleep in. He does care… in his own way
Alastor also does express that he isn’t a fan of your style but is of your preferences. You’re from the Tashio Era, around his time on Earth so you view technology like him and it makes him feel more appreciative that you get him. You’re his best tool ally after all, he didn’t suspect anything else from you
Alastor is surprised by how sweet and compassionate you are to him, even him where everybody else kinda makes sense. He isn’t a nice man at all, he may believe he deserves a number of things but does he deserve kindness from people like you or Charlie? Not really. He doesn’t want it but once more, he doesn’t care much
Alastor is actually quite impressed and interested in how you’ve basically been brainwashed… through whatever, maybe some old guy, into believing he is your family so you defend him, just viewing your lost siblings through him. He finds it cute how you rely on kickboxing to fight or even argue, he finds you cute. Like a little fawn
Alastor believes you’re a powerful useful tool-ally to him. You keep his threats away, you serve him. It’s a give to and give back relationship you two share. You give him something, he gives you something back as to keep you under his thumb
But really… he’s grown to have a bit of a soft spot for you so he will tolerate giving you and your pretty blank pink eyes a bit more benefits than he would normally dare to
That shrinking power of yours is great at infiltrating Vees Tower and squeezing through hidden areas easier, and whilst Alastor does leave you to do those type of missions solo as a ‘favour’ in exchange for a ‘favour’ back, he likes you too much to let the Vees lay a hand on you so he swoops in when he needs to
Alastor has seen your Awakened Form before. The first time he’s ever been intimidated in this realm. It was triggered during the Exterminator Battle for the Hazbin Hotel. You were kicking around angels viciously, setting them ablaze, almost targeting your own allies out of immense hunger, but Alastor had to restrain you to stop you from going too far and it… was amazing for all that he even stepped in, despite the danger you opposed in this state
Your strength and your healing fire touch makes you become a further valuable item to Alastor, more and more everyday, so it makes him protective and possessive over you. A demon with your power and capabilities must be under his servitude but also being treated like a pampered kitten by him and only him
Alastor legit gets so pissed if anybody dares to put you outside in the sunlight with no protection, even when they don’t mean to hurt you! It doesn’t matter to him!
“Oh. My darling little kitten, are you tired? Come. In this box, where you’ll be in my tower with me as I work. High up, away from the sun and from your belly rumbles. Does that sound good?”

bets made (and mistakes happened) - a restaurant au

you could stand toe to toe with whoever got in your way. you REFUSED to be talked down to like a dog. you were a good sous chef, you didn't need the guy who washed the dishes to tell you how to do your job! you could've KILLED john.
and he probably would've let you. he wanted to see those blunt nails of yours dig into his throat. he'd take it as a challenge and give you the same energy. he'd probably grin as you like a madman before he could finally sink his teeth into you. he had been wanting to for years.
so in order to keep some semblance of peace in the kitchen, chef price sent you two out in the back for a smoke. you sat on the milk crate near the door and john pulled out his pack of cigarettes.
"i like yer fire." he said.
"i wish you'd go to hell." you replied.
he chuckled and shook his head, "yer too sweet. i'm surprised you didn't poison me when you had to show tonight's dishes to the rest of staff."
"i didn't expect you to count as staff. it was meant for the other cooks."
he put his hands on his hips, apron on and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth he tilted his head to the side and chuckled, "i'm staff, bonnie. more of the backbone than you are."
you stood up, and got close to him. you were facing each other and painfully close. you plucked the cigarette out of his mouth before you took a inhale of it. he looked at you in shock as you placed it back in his mouth. you turned away from him and said, "how about this, soap. you come to my place, we see who's the better cook."
he stood up a little taller and asked, "what do i get when i win?"
you narrowed his eyes at his words, you amped up the stakes. you replied simply, "i'll let you sleep with me."
the cigarette almost fell out of his mouth from the shock. he soon took it out his mouth and exhaled, "nah, nah. really, what is it?" there was a smile on his face. he leaned in a little bit to you.
"i told you... you, me, sex. do i need to spell it out for you?"
he laughed, "oh yeah. that's a good prize, that sweet cunt." he closed the gap between you two and took your chin in his hand, he held his cigarette in the other, "deal. maybe i can finally put ya in yer place. talkin' big game for such a little girl." he shook his head. he pulled away to have another drag of his cigarette.
-
the first thing you noticed at the end of the week. john 'soap' mactavish didn't taste like an ashtray when he kissed you. currently it was friday night, the only night you two had off, and john had just won your little bet.
he had you up on the kitchen table with his hand spread out on your thigh, pushing up your dress. his lips were on yours and you tried your best to NOT melt into the kiss.
when he pulled away he pressed his forehead to you and said, "how was that?"
"it's a bet, it shouldn't matter how i feel." you replied as you kept your arms around him. his laugh pulled something in you when you were so close to him.
you expected him to make some pasta with packaged noodles and a jar of sauce. you had seen what lunches he brought. but instead in your tiny apartment, he made you a scotch pie with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth the entire time. even with the ash, it was still the best thing you had ever tasted.
he knew he won because you couldn't hide the expression on your face fast enough after the first bite. when he laughed, you hit him then went in for seconds. who would've thought the annoying dishwasher could cook this.
"how?" you asked.
he put a finger over his lips, "family secrets. only shared through marriage, doll."
after the meal, then he took his dessert. his winnings from your bet. and in all fairness, if/when he was going to fuck you, he'd rather he did with after you had a good meal. it was going to be quite the energy waster.
you broke the kiss and looked at him, those big blue eyes stared back at you. you held his face for a moment to stop him from leaning in again. you said, "i'm not fucking on a table i got from goodwill."
he chuckled, "of course, my majesty. would you like for me to fluff the pillows first." then made a noise when you squeezed his face.
"i'm saying because the fucking thing will break." then let go of him. he backed up enough for you to get off the furniture and head towards the bedroom.
he trailed behind you, his cock stood at full attention in his jeans as he get his first glimpse of your bedroom. while he noticed that there wasn't much life to the decor of the walls. he did notice that your bed was unmade and looked very comfy.
but what drew his attention was the sight of you undressing. he watched you zip down the button of the dress. you stepped out of it then quickly got your underwear off. he was barely out of his socks by the time you were naked. your curves glowed under the light of the city outside.
you sighed and approached him, "i guess i have to do everything, huh?"
he was brought back to reality and stepped back, "you don't have to do shit, love. i just need you to lie there and look pretty. if you really wanted to put on a show, make the girls bounce a little." he chuckled as he pulled his shirt over his head. he showed off his lean body and caught you staring a moment before he went to his jeans.
soon both of you were naked, and you led him onto your bed. you kicked the covers further down the mattress as you laid in bed with the other man. you kissed once more trying hard not to fall for him with each linger of his fingertips across your back.
he held you like a protective force, even if his words were often biting. he wanted you. in a carnal, lustful kind of way. the kind that sent shivers down your spine.
his hands roamed your backside, his cock twitched against your thigh as you continued to make out with him. finally that cocky mouth of his was quiet.
you pulled away soon after and placed both hands on his chest. he looked up at your curiously and you gazed down at him. those blue eyes were like dark like rocky seas as you rubbed your knee up against his cock. he hissed through his teeth.
"careful, doll." he said quietly.
you held his face once more and gave him one last kiss before you moved away and got into his lap. your ass rubbed against his cock. the sensation made him exhale deeply to try and hold back a moan.
he placed his tattooed hands on your hips. you always did find his tattoos quite appealing. you did have a dream once where he was shoving those digits inside of your pussy. at the time it made you want to put bleach in your eyes. but now... you were second guessing it.
"like this?" you asked.
"oh yeah. i love a good girl on top." he purred as the two of you began to move your bodies against one another. his eyes closed for a moment as he pressed his head into your pillow. he was drowning in the scent of the strawberry shampoo you used often. he could get whiffs of it at work when you walked by, but to be smothered in it made his cock hard.
you placed your hands on his chest and leaned forward so his cock was pushed inside of you at an angle. you panted which was accompanied by his own heavy breathing.
"feel real good. like a glove." he said, heavy on the accent, "like two pieces the same puzzle. you and i, doll, are meant to be."
"one night." you affirmed.
he chuckled as he dug his fingers further into your hips. he watched you take all of his cock and replied, "that's what they all day." before he started to meet your pace more aggressively.
the bed creaked from your movements. the heavy thrusting of sex in the cramped room of your one bedroom apartment. you funded this life through cooking and you got out cooked by a dishwasher.
you should hang the apron up already!
the thought made john smirked as he felt his cock deep inside of you. he wondered for a moment if you could still run a kitchen while caring for his brats. but that thought was pushed away from the intense rush of pleasure through his body. made his head feel full as he got closer to orgasm.
"shit, soap. ah." you moaned.
he gave your ass a slap and chuckled, the sweat dripped down his back, "you can't get enough of me. you just love it so much. you love me."
you groaned, "in your dreams." the sex was amazing. you could feel the sweat on your brow as you rutted against him. your nails dug into his pecks as you moved.
he hissed through his teeth and drove his cock deeper into you. he could feel his heart hammering in his chest. nothing like a feisty chef to get his blood pumping! with a spark on inspiration, he took you by the hips and rolled you onto your stomach.
he lifted your hips up with ease and pounded away at your cunt with vigor. the angle took the air out of your lungs, you could feel his ramming against sensitive areas. your legs were practically in the air!
the angle was amazing for both of you and soon you were gripping onto the mattress under your head.
"who would've thought scotch pie would've let me fuck ya." he laughed as he scratched at your hips due to the force he was holding you.
"shut up!" you whined as your back arched. with a few more stokes of his cock, you both came. your mind went blank. you came so hard that you honestly forgot that he wasn't wearing a condom and had dumped a bunch of his scottish seed into your aching cunt.
this wouldn't be a problem later, right?
-
a month later you're sitting on top of the toliet with a pregnancy test in hand. your hand over your mouth as you watched the test read positive.
for a second you tried to rationalize that it COULDN'T have been john who got you pregnant. not that blue-eyed, mohawk having, smug dishwasher! but you sure as hell weren't pregnant before your night together.
you pulled your hand away from your face and putt he test down on the counter. you cupped your middle and sighed. you had no choice but to tell john about it. he was going to find out eventually.
you sent him a text message, 'soap. need to talk. urgent." then put the phone down. instantly you were on the phone with him, when you heard his voice you broke down. the normally cocky john sounded sincere as he asked what was wrong. you composed yourself for a moment and wiped your eyes and said, "you are your stupid scottish cock got me pregnant."
there was silence on the other end for a moment. he then said, "anythin' ya need, doll. it's yours."
you swallowed and replied, "you and some more scotch pie." you felt your heart do a somersault.
"ay." he said, "already got the scottish in ya."
xoxo, bunny (might do a sequel, let me know!)

The Lost Girl
You just wanted to travel and forget all about the drama you left behind. You didn't expect to fall in with four boys who would become another family. Maybe more.
[Part Two of Three]
Tumblr media
Author’s Note:  This is... terrible. As with everything I've written before, I lost interest in this idea. But since I posted part one, I NEEDED to post a part two. Unfortunately, this then turned into three parts, so I need to start writing that now. Joy -_- Words: 7.6K
In the privacy of the cave that was once a popular resort, you pace around the space as you poke at the burning wound on your shoulder. You can already see the venom from the bite poisoning the flesh around the wound and you grimace. "Fuck."
"What can we do?" Dwayne asks.
"Nothing."
Paul and Marko quickly ignite the barrels around the cave as David and Dwayne keep watch over you, and you pull your phone out from your back pocket, sighing with relief when you see you still have two bars of reception. Without meeting anyone's gaze, you find Klaus' contact and call him. The first call goes to voicemail, as does the second, third, and fourth.
"Answer the phone, Niklaus Mikaelson!" You hiss into a voicemail. Then finding Elijah's contact, you call him and sag with relief when you hear him pick up. "Where's your idiot brother?"
"Well hello to you too, Miss Gilbert."
"Elijah, I love you, but now is not the time. I'm on a time limit here. Where. Is. Your. Brother?"
The phone line goes quiet and then, "What happened?"
"A couple of werewolves decided to make camp in territory that doesn't belong to them." There was no beating around the bush. Not if you wanted the cure as soon as possible.
"We're on our way."
"Please hurry."
"Are you in a safe place? Does anyone know what you are?"
"Yeah. My new friends are vampires, but they're different. They're forced to sleep from sunup to sundown."
"Put them on."
"You're on speaker," you say as you press the speaker option.
"To whomever is listening, you need to prepare. YN's health will deteriorate very quickly, and she will hallucinate. She won't know who you are. Do you have a place away from innocent civilians?"
"Yes," David answers. "We're pretty well removed from the humans. At the bottom of Hudson's Bluff, there's an entrance into our home."
"Good. Niklaus and I will get there as quickly as we can. You might want to have chains on hand because YN will either try to harm herself or you. And YN? I know you hate it, but if they sleep while the sun is up, you need to give up your daylight ring so you can't leave."
"Figures." You sigh.
"We'll be there soon."
Elijah hangs up and you place your phone aside on an upturned crate. Pacing once more, you nervously fidget with your daylight ring that Elijah mentioned. You've never felt comfortable parting with it, but you know things are about to get crazy and you can't risk leaving the cave while the boys are sleeping.
"I haven't taken my ring off since it was given to me," you say. Hesitantly, you slip it off and glance at Dwayne. "If you lose it, I will murder you."
Dwayne doesn't even crack a smile, but he does accept the ring when you hold it out for him. He stares at it and then slips it onto his pinky. "You'll get this back as soon as you're cured."
"I know." You smile sadly at him and then meet the concerned gazes of Paul and Marko.
"Do we really need to chain you up?" Paul asks.
"It would be best."
"We're not chaining you up," Dwayne says. "What's the next option?"
"Nothing. If you leave me free, you need to barricade wherever it is you guys' sleep. I don't want to risk flipping my shit and thinking you're all threats when you can't defend yourself."
Marko nods. "We can do that. Anything else?"
"Yeah. Go out and feed. If shit hits the fan when you guys wake up, you're gonna want your full strength."
"We're not leaving you," Dwayne says.
At that, you smile softly. "I'll be fine right now. I'll clean off that mattress over there," you say while pointing to the mattress in question, "and try to get some sleep. It'll start off like a fast-acting flu before the craziness sets in."
Dwayne opens his mouth to retort, but David pulls rank. "She's right. Let's go."
Instead of arguing, Dwayne says, "Fine, but don't mess with that mattress and blanket. We can still access some of the rooms in this place, so we'll find you a better mattress."
"Okay."
As the four boys take their leave, you lay on the sofa and attempt to remain calm. You already know how this is going to go thanks to Rose and Damon being bit by a werewolf before, and you're dreading it.

The boys return hours later- Paul and Marko riding the high of a fuck and feed whereas David and Dwayne have yet to forget what's waiting for them in the cave. They immediately recognize something is off when Paul and Marko go quiet, and then hear Marko hesitantly calling out your name.
David and Dwayne rush into the main room to see you sitting on the couch, hunched over your knees with your hands clasped around your ears. But the moment Marko touches your uninjured shoulder, you snap. You hiss and grab Marko by the throat, moving so fast and pinning him to the couch you were just sitting on.
"Where's my brother?! Who are- what did you do with him?!"
"YN? YN it's me Marko. I don't-"
"Stop lying!"
"Grab her," David says.
Dwayne doesn't waste a second, flying over to you and wrapping his arms around you from behind. You buck and hiss in his hold, and he's surprised by the strength you possess even while injured. "She's burning up," he tells them.
"Holy shit. Have the hallucinations started already?" Paul asks, helping his stunned brother up.
Marko huffs. "Uh, yeah! Do you think any of us have ever met her brother?"
"Fair."
You continue to scream and thrash, and it isn't until David walks in front of you and grasps your face between his hands do you calm down. "YN. You're in Santa Carla, not Mystic Falls. None of us know who your brother is."
He can see when your mind clears, the glaze in your eyes dimming just a little.
"David..?"
"There you are." The blonde smirks as he releases your face. "I think you gave Marko a bit of a scare."
Your gaze darts to Marko who grins at you and then glance down at the arms banded around you. "What did I do?" You ask.
"Nothing much, girlie," Marko assures you. "I was just surprised by your strength."
"Dwayne?"
"You surprised him by pinning him to the couch. You didn't hurt him."
The moment you sag in Dwayne's hold, David instructs Marko and Paul to get your temporary room ready. Dwayne sets you on your feet, but he doesn't let you go. Instead, he sits on the couch and drags you down until you're sitting sideways on his lap.
"Everything hurts," you whine as you settle, resting your head on Dwayne's shoulder. "I just want it to stop."
"What can we do?"
"Nothing. Only the cure will stop it."
"What is the cure?" David asks. "You never said."
You hesitate to answer, but figure they're going to find out soon anyway. "It's Klaus' blood. It's why ninety-nine percent of infected vampires die. They either don't know there's a cure or Klaus refuses to give up his blood."
"So, he has the ability to infect and save a vampire with his bite and blood?"
Shivering, you nod.
"Did he ever bite you?" Dwayne asks. "When you were enemies?"
"No, but he did bite my friend Caroline. And then he saved her because he's in love with her."
Neither say anything and the only noise is that from Paul and Marko who are setting up your space. You continue to shake and whimper in Dwayne's hold, waiting until you can lay down. And then when it's all done, Dwayne stands and carries you over to the mattress.
"Sun's almost up. Do you need anything?"
"No." You curl up, dragging a sheet over yourself. "Just go and barricade yourselves in. If I somehow find you and you manage to wake up, snap my neck. I'll wake up eventually."
"Dibs on snapping-"
"We're not snapping her neck," Dwayne snarls at Paul. "Shut up."
Paul's eyes widen as Marko snickers at his misfortune. You manage a weak smile before letting your eyes drift close, and then the space darkens when the sheets around you are settled in place.
"You think she'll still be alive when we wake up?" Marko asks.
"Yes."
Dwayne stalks off and the boys watch him go. Only when he's out of earshot does David say, "For all of our sakes, those friends of hers better get here soon. I have a feeling Dwayne will brood for a long while if something happens to YN."
"Are mates real?" Paul suddenly wonders. "Because as far as I know, Dwayne and YN haven't even kissed, and our boy is protective and possessive."
David chuckles. "Who knows. Now come on. Sun's here."
As soon as the words leave David's mouth, shafts of sunlight start filtering in, and the boys make a beeline for the tunnel that leads to their own sleeping quarters.
Tumblr media
The moment the sun dips below the horizon and the Lost Boys' eyes snap open, none of them waste another second hanging upside down. They fly down and rush towards the main room but hesitate by the opening of the tunnel to listen for anything out of the ordinary. Nothing seems amiss, so they head on out.
One by one, the vampires spread out with Dwayne heading towards YN's sleeping space. He pulls back the sheets and what he finds has the breath stilling in his lungs. YN lays there, paler than ever with sweat slicked skin. There are dark circles beneath her eyes, and it appears as if she's barely breathing.
"Find her phone. Call her friends. Now!" David barks.
Paul and Marko immediately go on the hunt and Dwayne steps onto the mattress, lowering himself down next to her. "..YN?"
With your peaceful slumber interrupted, your eyes flutter open, but readily fall back shut, and you whine as you register the pain your body is in. "Noooo."
"You gotta get up, sweetheart."
"S'too late. You should go. Don't need to see this." You weakly push at the hand smoothing hair from your forehead. "Go."
"No."
Tears gather behind your eyelids, and you manage to open them to get one last look. You sigh at seeing Dwayne's anguished features and then turn your head, only to find David and the others standing where your sheets once hung. "Thank you. For taking me in," you mumble. "I forgot what it felt like to have people treat me with decency."
"You're talking like you're dyin', girlie," Paul muses. "You ain't goin' nowhere. Not if we have any say so in the matter."
You manage a weak smile before you let your eyes fall shut. "If only.."
"Hey. Hey, no. Open your eyes." Dwayne lifts your upper body, moving behind you to cradle you between his thighs and against his chest. "Open your eyes, YN."
"Stop, Dwayne. Please." Being jostled makes you whimper even more. "It hurts too much."
"Your friends will be here soon."
"Will they?" Your head falls back until it's resting on Dwayne's shoulder, and you open your eyes to see him. You weakly reach up, fingers caressing his jaw as you attempt to smile. "We would have annoyed the others so much."
"We still can."
"Maybe in our next life."
"Well, that's a bit dramatic." The boys all hiss at the accented voice and you choke on a sob. "And here I thought your sister Elena was the best actress in the Gilbert family."
"Klaus."
"Hello, love. You look unwell."
You frown. "I feel like shit."
"Language, Miss Gilbert."
Your gaze slides to Klaus' left and you smile. "Hello, Elijah."
Elijah smiles at you and then turns his attention to his brother. "Please heal Miss Gilbert so that we may convene elsewhere. No offense to your living situation," he then says while nodding at David.
You snort and then groan, and Klaus finally takes pity on you. He pulls something out of his pocket and then tosses it at Dwayne. "Help her drink that."
Dwayne catches a vial in hand, notices the thick red liquid inside, and quickly uncorks it. He holds the vial to your lips, and you readily drink Klaus' blood. You take a moment to catch your breath afterward, groaning as you push yourself to sit up. "Sooo, that was fun. Let's not do it again." Paul and Marko laugh, and then you twist your upper body a little to look at Dwayne. "Aren't you glad I didn't die?"
"I knew you wouldn't."
"Yeah, yeah. Now help me up. I feel gross and need to go back to my hotel to shower." Dwayne hurriedly climbs to his feet, offering you a hand up. You groan some more, stretching and grimacing now that you're no longer horizontal.
"So, like are you healed now?" Paul asks.
"Pretty much. I just need a good shower, a bite to eat, and to listen to my gut instinct and not follow David into the woods to hunt a goddamn werewolf."
Paul and Marko snicker as Elijah and Klaus turn towards the blonde in question. He lazily smirks, uncaring that the most feared vampire and hybrid are staring him down. "You might have followed me into the woods, but you tackled that wolf off of Dwayne when it had him pinned."
Klaus groans and Elijah shakes his head. "We should have known."
"Oh whatever." You avoid everyone's stare except for Dwayne's. "Thanks for tucking me and not leaving when I said so." You wink at him. "I'll meet you on the boardwalk in half an hour."
. .
. .
It doesn't take you long whatsoever to shower, change, and guzzle down a couple blood bags that Elijah had taken the liberty to retrieve for you.
"Well, you look awfully dressed up for this deranged little town," Klaus says.
You smirk and give a little twirl, the skirt of your dress flaring out just above your knees. "Well, I gotta make up for how I looked just an hour ago."
"You really like this vampire, don't you?" Elijah wonders.
You shrug, suddenly bashful as you hunt down your cropped leather jacket. "I mean, he's nice."
Klaus snorts. "Nice doesn't catch your attention, sweetheart. Try again."
Slipping into your jacket, you quietly groan. "He's.. protective. And mine. And if anyone hurts him or his brothers, I will hurt them back."
When you meet the brothers' stare, you find them both smiling at you.
"It's about time you found someone," Elijah says. "Niklaus and I were starting to worry."
"Of course, you were." Your eyes roll, but you're still smiling fondly. "Now can we go? I also want human food now."
You, Elijah, and Klaus run to the boardwalk, blending in with the nightlife so no one sees you appear from between one blink and the next. The boardwalk brings a smile to your face, especially when the Mikaelson's look so out of place.
It isn't hard to find the Lost Boys since you know their usual hangouts and make a beeline for them leaning against the railing near their motorbikes. There are a few girls hanging around them, Paul and Marko eating the attention up and stringing along the poor girls with eyes for them. David and Dwayne, however, seem wholly uninterested in the two girls vying for their attention and you smile mischievously.
You saunter in Dwayne's direction, making sure to catch his gaze as you only have eyes for him. His eyes seem to pass over you before quickly flickering back and the moment his lips curve into a smile, you laugh. The girl who'd been standing too close in order to speak with him looks in your direction, frowning, but you completely ignore her. You walk right up to Dwayne, hands sliding around his bare waist under his jacket as you lean up on the tips of your toes to capture his lips in a kiss. He smiles against your mouth, immediately kissing you back as his own arms wrap around your waist to pull you against him.
The wolf-whistles and jeers from his brothers do nothing to deter you, nor does Elijah and Klaus' presence.
"Uh, excuse me?" The feminine voice interrupting you makes you mentally snarl.
You pull back and glance at the female for a second. "You're excused."
"We were talking."
"No, you were talking, and he was waiting for me. Now run along, little girl. Your presence isn't needed."
"Y'ow! That was cold, girlie." Paul calls out.
You wink at Paul and then look back at Dwayne. Lifting your left hand, you wiggle your empty ring finger. "I believe you have something of mine."
Dwayne smirks as he pulls your daylight ring off his pinky, sensually sliding your ring back into its rightful place. When it's settled on your finger, you chuckle before chastely kissing him again.
The girl who'd been vying for David's attention is apparently the smartest of the bunch and she readily rounds up her girls to walk off. Paul and Marko mockingly wave at them as they scoff at you still in Dwayne's arms, and you press a kiss to his bare chest before stepping aside and tucking yourself under his arm.
"Well, you're feeling better," David drawls.
"Mhm. Nothing like a little blood to perk one right back up."
The Lost Boys all chuckle but leave it to a Mikaelson to bring your mood back down.
"Well since you're in good spirits," Elijah says and your smile drops.
"Elijah, no."
"Your family is growing impatient with your prolonged absence."
You groan. "Have they gotten Bonnie to track me?"
"Yes, but fortunately I thought about that in advance and have had you under a cloaking spell for quite some time now," Klaus says with a smirk. "They're not very happy with me at the moment."
"They never are," you muse. After a moment, you sigh a little as you lean more into Dwayne. "I'm gonna have to visit, aren't I? Just to shut them up."
"Yes."
"When do we leave?"
"As soon as our witch gets your new friends their daylight jewelry."
Klaus and Elijah smirk as it takes a moment for their words to sink in. And when they do, you jerk out of Dwayne's hold. "Wait, what?! You're getting them-"
Klaus shrugs as if it's no big deal. "It's more for me than it is for you. No one other than Elijah and I know your new friends are a different breed of vampires. It'll be a nice surprise when Damon steps out of line."
You huff a laugh and then face the boys. "Would you guys even be interested in leaving Santa Carla for a bit if the jewelry works?"
"Uh, hell yes," Paul blurts.
Marko eagerly nods, Dwayne shrugs, and David frowns.
"We can't leave Santa Carla unprotected. If we do, other vampires are likely to move in."
"Fear not, I'll have some associates stay behind to make sure that doesn't happen," Klaus says. "And they'll even hunt down the wolf who bit YN, and any others trespassing since I'm assuming you boys run the entire city."
David doesn't seem too impressed, but with Paul and Marko overly eager, you can see that he doesn't want to squash their fun. "Are you sure these daylight rings will work for us?" He asks, looking at Elijah and Klaus.
"Yes. Though we figured rings wouldn't fit your aesthetic, so we have leather bracelets being fitted with the spelled stone. They should be ready in a day or two since the witch has to tweak the spell a bit."
"Well okay then."
"Yes!" You beam. Quickly grabbing hold of Dwayne's hand, you start tugging him away from the group. "So, while you all come up with a plan for our departure, Dwayne and I are going to go for a walk. Near death experience and all that, so I'm feeling a little bit foolish."
Elijah and Klaus immediately scowl, and you wink. "Love you, boys. Don't murder my friends."
Dwayne laughs as you hurriedly tug him away then, disappearing into the crowd of locals and tourists. You drag him past all the rides and booths, heading for a small, darkened pier. You lead him towards the very end, turning your back on the ocean and facing Dwayne as you lean against the railing. "Hi," you muse.
"Hi." He steps closer, caging you against the railing as he leans his head down to press a kiss to your forehead. "Glad to see you're not on death's door anymore."
"Feels good not to be on death's door anymore." You laugh, wrapping your arms around his waist so you're hugging him. "So, are you ready to get out of Santa Carla for a few days?"
"Depends. Do you think these bracelets will work?"
"Yes. The witches aren't dumb enough to double cross the Mikaelson's."
"Mhm. And what should we expect in Mystic Falls? What should I expect in Mystic Falls?"
You slowly grin. "Is this your way of asking if I left anyone behind, Dwayne?"
"Yes."
"God, I love that you're so blunt." You quickly lean up to peck his lips. "And no. I didn't leave anyone behind. I'm older than my sister's friend group, so I didn't go there with any of the boys. I almost had a fling with Damon, but I refused to play into his games when I realized he was doing anything to rile up my sister and his brother. And then there's that whole thing that happened with Caroline, and I've never forgiven him for it. I don't know how my sister managed to look past it."
"What thing?"
"Damon lured Caroline to bed, using her to feed and fuck. Sometimes, he'd show her what he was and practically brutalize her before compelling her to forget and then do it all over again the next night. He pretty much raped her and now my sister believes he's the love of her life."
Dwayne scowls. "She the girl that turned the same night as you?"
"Yep. She knocked him on his ass when all her memories returned, but she was just expected to fall in line and treat him as a friend when all was said and done."
"That's messed up."
"Yeah." You heave a sigh, shrugging. "Their whole friend group is toxic as hell which was the main motivator for me getting the hell out of there. And now I gotta return so they know I'm alive and well, so they can stop blaming Elijah and Klaus for anything."
"If this Damon guy so much as looks at you wrong..."
"Then I give full permission to snap his neck or rough him up some. Just don't kill him because then I'll never hear the end of it."
"No promises."
You laugh and kiss him once more. "Fair enough. Now let's go do some gross couple-y shit and piss off a few humans before we're stuck with your brothers and my family for a week."
Tumblr media
It took nearly two days for Klaus' witch to pull through, delivering the bracelets to your hotel suite that the Mikaelson's had been staying in with you. The three of you then left for the cave where Klaus urged you to wake your friends before the sun set so they could try their bracelets. They'd been none too happy to be woken, but all too eager to try the bracelets once you told them they were done.
Paul, being the guinea pig, put his bracelet on and cautiously held his hand in a ray of sunlight. When his hand didn't smoke or burst into flames, he stepped fully into the light and held his breath before letting out a whoop of delight.
Another perk that came with the bracelet was that once the bracelets had been secured around their wrists, they all noticed that they weren't fatigued by the sun anymore. The lost boys took great pleasure in leaving the cave and standing atop Hudson's Bluff in broad daylight, and then Klaus urged everyone to hurry because Santa Carla was very much beneath him.
While Klaus called some contacts to be stationed around the little town, while also giving them the task of hunting down any werewolf in Santa Carla, you let your hotel know that you'd be gone for a week. Elijah assured the boys they'd have everything once they reached Mystic Falls, and then it wasn't long until everyone was loaded up onto a private jet.
. .
. .
There's a large SUV waiting at the airport just outside of Mystic Falls and you all pile in with Elijah getting behind the wheel. And instead of driving straight to their home, Elijah drives through the town so the boys can see just exactly where it is you came from.
"Everything's so.. clean," Marko muses as he stares out a window.
"I can't believe you grew up here," Paul then adds. "These people aren't gonna chase us out of town with pitchforks and torches, are they?"
You laugh. "Not the humans, but my family and friends will most definitely try."
Klaus points out the Mystic Grill and that it'll be where everyone will make their grand entrance after the boys don appropriate attire. And then it's off to their precious mansion and you take great joy in the boys' impressed expressions upon seeing it for the first time.
"Max's beach house has nothing on this house," Paul says in awe.
"You know where your room is, Miss Gilbert," Elijah says as you enter the foyer of the mansion. And with a lingering stare and then a sigh, he adds, "And if your beau wants to stay with you, that's fine with us." You meet Dwayne's stare and wiggle your eyebrows, earning a smile and nod in return. "As for the rest of you, please follow me so we can get you situated."
"Shower and change," Klaus calls out on his way towards his studio. "The fun begins in one hour."
Dwayne follows you to your room as Elijah shows everyone else to theirs. He walks in behind you, taking in the extravagant room and lavish decor. Dwayne's eyebrow arches. "You grew up like this?"
You chuckle as you open a closet to choose an outfit for yourself. "No. The Mikaelson's are filthy rich compared to everyone in this town. I lived in a much smaller, less fancy house."
"Yet you're completely at home here."
"When you meet my sister and her friends later, you'll understand why I've spent so much time here." You pull out an outfit and turn towards Dwayne. "Now go shower while I get Elijah to deliver whatever clothes he has for you. I'll shower in Rebekah's room."
"Or we can shower together."
"Absolutely not!" You hear Klaus' shout all the way from downstairs.
Laughing, you nudge Dwayne towards the shower and then go in search of Elijah. You ask for Dwayne's clothing to be delivered to your room while you use Rebekah's shower. You hurriedly shower and change, and when you exit you find Rebekah waiting on her bed.
"So who's the riff raff?" She asks.
"Hello to you too, Bex," you muse. At her expectant expression, you say, "They're my new friends."
"Sex friends?" She wiggles her eyebrows.
"Ew. No." You pause a beat and then, "Well.."
"I knew it. Which one is it?"
"Dwayne. He's showering in my room so I don't think you've seen him. And unfortunately, there's been no sex. Not yet at least."
She grins. "Where did you meet them?"
"Santa Carla. It's where I've been staying and plan to stay now," you admit. "They, uh, they're vampires. Not our kind, but the kind that look truly monstrous when their faces change. And they can fly."
"Well, that's interesting."
"Not as interesting as the fact that we're not telling anyone what they are unless they have to intervene in some drama."
Rebekah's eyes light up and you laugh at her sudden interest. "So what's the plan?"
"We're all going to the Grill just so everyone can see that I'm alive and well, and that your brother isn't keeping me in a dungeon somewhere. We'll probably be here for a week before we go back to California."
"Excellent. We're having a party."
"No."
"Can it be one of those fancy parties?" You startle at the voice, turning to see Paul and Marko standing in the doorway. "We really want to see YN in a poofy dress."
"Absolutely not."
"Ohhhh. A ball!"
You sigh, knowing it's a losing battle. You glare at your friends, but then take a moment to take in what you're actually seeing. Without the dirty jeans, mesh shirts, and tattered jackets, the boys actually look pretty decent. Marko kept his hair the same, but you were surprised to see Paul's hair in a messy bun. Both wore stylish ripped skinny jeans, band tees, and Doc Martens. "You boys clean up well."
Marko smirks. "You should see David."
When your brain reboots, you hurriedly step into your own shoes before rushing down the stairs with the laughing boys behind you. You find Elijah and David in the kitchen, most likely drinking blood from a mug since Elijah made it clear there was no killing within the town limits, and gape. David stands there in a burgundy dress shirt with the top two buttons left open, a black winter peacoat with its collar popped, fitted jeans, and brown boots.
"Keep staring like that and Dwayne will get jealous."
Your jaw clicks shut and then you can't help but laugh. "Enjoying the fresh clothes?"
"It's better than using the clothes of our victims."
You catch sight of Rebekah's nose wrinkling and you laugh. "Yeah. Definitely better than stealing from the dead."
You properly introduce Rebekah to David, Paul, and Marko, and let them chat as she asks to see their vampire face. Paul happily obliges and even the blonde Original is impressed with the difference between your breed of vampires. Klaus soon joins the group, and you're all enjoying warmed up blood from the fridge when you see Dwayne enter from the corner of your eye.
Turning to face him, your gaze sweeps along him from head to toe. He's in a white dress shirt that's been left unbuttoned to the middle of his chest, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, snug faded jeans resting on his hips, and black boots adoring his feet. His hair has been pulled into a ponytail, only on the last loop through he didn't pull his hair all the way through and left the strands trapped so it's all hanging above his neck still.
And holy hell does he look good.
"Maybe telling you boys to shower was a mistake." Rebekah snorts at your ogling and you snap out of it before making your way to Dwayne. "Hi." You kiss his cheek. "You look nice."
"Right back at 'ya."
"As bloody adorable as you two are," Rebekah says, "can we go? It's been a while since I've annoyed your friends."
"Yeah, yeah. Let's go."
Rebekah isn't too keen on squishing herself between two strangers, so she takes her own vehicle. And not wanting her to drive alone, you grab Dwayne's hand and lead him along until you're pushing him towards the backseat of her car while climbing into the passenger seat yourself. He's quiet on the drive, but listens as Rebekah asks you about your travels.
When Rebekah finally parks at Mystic Grill, you get out and immediately wrap your hand around Dwayne's. You're giddy as you get closer to the front entrance, ignoring Rebekah's teasing. Then upon entering the establishment, you scan the place for Elijah or Klaus or the other boys. And a moment later, Paul's eager waving from the back catches your attention.
Rebekah saunters her way through Mystic Grill while you and Dwayne follow. They've pushed three tables together with Elijah and Klaus sitting on either end. Paul and Marko are sitting across from each other, closest to Klaus, and David is sitting near Elijah. Rebekah chooses the seat across from David, closest to Elijah, which forces you and Dwayne to sit across from one another instead of side by side.
Elijah tells the table to order whatever they want, and there's a mad scramble for the menus when a handful are dropped off.
"YN?"
You glance up and over your shoulder, and smile politely at the blonde haired, blue eyed ex-boyfriend of your sister. "Hey, Matty. Long time no see."
He smiles, but then that smile falters when he notices the company you're keeping. "Are you, uh, are you good?"
"Never been better," you muse. "And you?"
"It's Mystic Falls." He shrugs. "You know how it is."
"Yeah. I do."
A beat passes and then Matt clears his throat. "So what can I get everyone to drink?"
Elijah, Klaus, and David all get bourbon, Rebekah and Dwayne get sweet tea, Marko gets lemonade, and you and Paul order Coke.
As Matt takes his leave, Rebekah starts to chuckle. "Well if your sister didn't know you were in town, she will now."
"I know," you groan. "I know we're here to ruffle some feathers, but I was hoping we would be able to eat in peace."
"Are they really that bad?" Marko asks.
You shrug. "If Damon wasn't involved, it would be tense but a decent time. But since Damon will be involved, he'll do his best to antagonize one or all of the Mikaelson's. Maybe even you guys since you're new and friends of mine."
"Well we do love some good verbal spars." Paul wiggles his eyebrows and you playfully roll your eyes.
Matt soon returns with the drinks and then takes everyone's order. Elijah and Klaus don't want any food, but all the lost boys order cheeseburgers and fries whereas you and Rebekah opt for chicken wraps and a basket of cheese fries each.
You barely have a moment to relax before your name's being called again and you mentally groan. Turning in your seat, you plaster on a friendly smile. "Hey, sis."
Elena stands there, happy yet anxious as she takes in those you're sitting with. "When did you get in?"
As she takes a step closer, you stand and awkwardly hug her. "Earlier today," you say. "Made some friends and what not, and thought I'd show them where I grew up."
"So you picked up some stragglers and thought it was a good idea to show them where you live?"
Your gaze slides to the right and you sigh. "Lived. Past tense. And hello to you too, Damon."
Damon smirks, blue eyes sparkling with a little malice as Elena stammers. "L-Lived? What are you talking about?"
You shrug. "Mystic Falls isn't that great of a fit for me anymore, so I found a place that was."
"So where do you live now?"
"Out of state."
"YN." Elena frowns. "I don't really think-"
"Drop it, Elena." You shake your head at her. "I'm the older sister here. If I wanna settle elsewhere, I will."
"But-"
"Elena."
Elena frowns, but wisely shuts her mouth, and Damon gestures to the side with his head. "As adorable as this squabble is, maybe we should take this outside. Family business and all."
"Funny. Last I checked, you are a Salvatore and these two lovely ladies are Gilberts," Elijah drawls.
Damon's smirk falls. "Stay out of it, Mikaelson."
Paul and Marko snicker as David and Klaus grin, but Dwayne is watching the conversation rather closely.
You roll your eyes with a sigh and stand up. "Whatever. I'm not going outside though. I'm starving and Matt will be back with our food any minute now."
You walk towards the hallway where the bathrooms are, leaning against the wall. Elena and Damon are on your heels, and they don't waste a second laying into you.
"What the hell, YN? You disappear for a year and then come back, only to let me know you're not even living here anymore?" Elena says.
"We're not children anymore. I don't have to run my relocation past you."
She gapes. "Well, no, but-"
"But nothing."
"Knock off the attitude," Damon says through gritted teeth. "We get that you think you're important because the Mikaelson's are manipulating you, but enough is enough. It's time to stop playing nice with the enemy and come home to your family like a good little girl."
You hiss in Damon's direction, taking a step towards him. "Last I checked, you're not family. Shut up and wait outside like the good little lap dog you are."
"YN!"
Before you can blink, a hand is around your throat and you're being shoved back into the wall. "Careful, YN. I might not be able to make your life difficult with the Mikaelson's, but you brought four brand new, very fragile guys into the mix."
"Damon, stop."
"I'll have no problem picking them off one by one until you behave."
Instead of rising to the bait, you slowly smirk at him. "I'd like to see you try."
"Am I interrupting?"
You, Elena, and Damon turn towards the open end of the hallway, and you smile at the sight of Dwayne. A very tense Dwayne. "Hi, baby," you coo. "And no, you're not. Is our food at the table?"
"Yes."
"I'll be right there." Dwayne glares at Damon before giving you a nod, and then he turns to walk away. As soon as he's out of sight, you reach up and grab onto Damon's wrist, yanking his hand from your neck and snapping his wrist. He hisses in pain and Elena gasps. "Touch me again and it'll be your neck I snap next," you snarl.
He sneers right back at you. "You have a weakness. Good to know."
"You go after him and I will fucking kill you," you suddenly seethe, fangs elongating in your sudden spike of anger. Then looking at your sister, you say, "If any of my friends are hurt by the hands of your little boy toy, we are done. For good. And given what we are, dear sister, that's a long time to have no contact with your only sister."
Elena sadly shakes her head. "You've changed."
"You're damn right I have. You and your enemies made me into the person I am today. I am done being talked down to and being walked all over. You have a problem, fix it yourself. Stop playing the woe is me card and deal with your life as it is. You wanted to lay with vampires? Well congratulations, Elena, you're laying with vampires and dealing with all the issues that come with the life you chose."
"I didn't want this!"
"Of course you did," you drawl. "Otherwise you would have turned the other way when Stefan let the vampire secret out of the bag. Now if you'll excuse me, I got a meal to eat and friends to show around."
You slam your shoulder into Damon on your way out of the hall, shaking your head in amusement when you catch sight of every Mikaelson and lost boy already staring at you. Paul has moved next to Marko, leaving the spot next to Dwayne empty for you.
"You good?" Dwayne asks as soon as you sit down.
"Peachy." Under the table, Dwayne pulls your chair closer to his and lays a hand rather possessively atop your thigh. You grin. "Now can we eat? I'm starving."
Tumblr media
The first night back in Mystic Falls is fairly quiet. Your only run-ins were with Damon and Elena, but you did get text messages from Jeremy, Caroline, and Bonnie. Your brother and friends seem excited to know you're back in town, but explain their surprise with your sudden move. Jeremy tries to not so discreetly discover where you're now living, but you don't give up the location. You just tell them all that you're happy and you rather not say where you're living because Damon will do anything and everything to drag you back to Mystic Falls the moment something displeases Elena.
And the fact that none of them argue your point lets you know that they completely understand.
You and Rebekah then got to show the boys Mystic Falls at night, letting them see just how drastically different your hometown is compared to Santa Carla.
The boys, thankfully, don't cause any issues and your first night is easy.
Your second day in Mystic Falls, however, is proving to be testing your patience.
"I. Do. Not. Want. A. Birthday. Party."
"Too bad." Rebekah smirks. "We're throwing you one."
"You're my least favorite Mikaelson." Turning around, you sigh and pout. "Elijah, tell your sister no party."
"Sorry, Miss Gilbert. No can do."
"You're no fun. Klaus?"
Klaus merely smirks, attention never wavering from the canvas he's been painting his next masterpiece on.
"So, is this going to be a party party? Or a fancy party? I was digging those poofy dresses I saw in YN's phone," Paul muses.
Rebekah gasps as she perks up, and you groan. You'd hope they'd forgotten about that.
"No ball!" You snap. "I can deal with pretty dresses and suits, but nothing too fancy."
Rebekah immediately pouts, but she gives in fairly easily. "Fine. Then I'm inviting anyone and everyone."
"Fine."
"And your boys have to wear suits."
"Duh. If I'm dressing up, so are they."
"And cutting their hair."
"Absolutely not."
"Yes." Rebekah scowls. "Mullets are gross."
You shrug. "I don't disagree, but Marko and David somehow manage to pull it off."
"They need to go."
"Nope. Paul and Dwayne can do with a trim, but you're not touching the mullets."
"YN."
"Rebekah."
"They're gross."
"It's their style."
"Elijah!"
"Klaus!"
Both you and Rebekah, who'd managed to end up toe to toe in your back and forth, turn to look at her brothers. But instead of just finding the two of them, you find the lost boys watching along with amusement dancing in their eyes.
You and Rebekah both roll your eyes then, huffing simultaneously, which earns laughter in return.
"So, are we talking a live band or a DJ?" She then asks, ignoring all the men in the room.
"DJ, definitely."
"Food?"
"Anything small that can be eaten by hand."
As you and Rebekah walk off to plan, Elijah stares at the boys and stands. "Well since we're throwing a party, we must be fitted for new suits. Let's go, boys."
Paul whoops, but his delight only lasts as long as it takes for Klaus to remind him that he has to get his hair trimmed.
. .
. .
After spending the day planning a party with Rebekah and brainstorming what kind of dress you're looking for, you can finally call it a night after Klaus tells you not to wait up. Both he and Elijah have kept the boys out and about, none of them complaining because they're still awed about being able to be walking around in the sunlight annoying people that Klaus doesn't care for.
After showering and slipping into a tank top and pajama shorts, you lay in bed while scrolling through social media. You hear when all the men/boys return and can't help but smile when you hear Elijah's exasperation with his brother over telling a rather bawdy joke to your friends.
Then it isn't long until Dwayne enters your room and you put your phone down as he takes a clothing bag to hang in the closet. "Have fun?" You muse.
He gives you a deadpan look over his shoulder and you laugh. Dwayne then toes off his boots, sliding into the bed next to you with a quiet groan. "You know, I always wondered what it'd be like to have money." He drapes his arm over your stomach, dragging you closer to him so his nose is pressed to your temple as he breathes you in.
"And…?"
"It's insane. Klaus was compelling everyone to get what he wanted, but Elijah was just dropping bills left and right without a care in the world."
You turn your head and kiss the underside of his jaw. "No drama?"
"We ran into that Damon guy and his own brother. They kept dropping not so subtle hints that Elijah and Klaus were dangerous individuals, and he wouldn't be surprised if our bodies were found in the woods sooner rather than later."
You snort with laughter. "And what did you guys say in return?"
His lips twitch. "Klaus pretended to compel us all, fed off Paul, and told them to mind their business. I thought that Stefan guy was about to blow a vein when Damon gritted his teeth and mentioned that we were important to you."
"Please tell me Klaus' bite didn't poison Paul," you grumble.
"Nah. That was the only upside of the night. We found that a werewolf's bite doesn't affect us like it did you. Elijah's impressed and is going to look into our breed of vampire."
"Well that's good, I guess. Did everyone get fitted?"
"Yeah, we're all good."
"Good." You scoot up and kiss square on the lips. "Now go shower and change into something more comfortable than jeans. I'm in the mood for some cuddles."
Dwayne grins and kisses you again, lingering a little longer and leaving you breathless after scraping his fangs along your bottom lip. "Just cuddles?"
"Hmm? No," you answer in a bit of a daze. "Definitely not. Now hurry up."

CHAPTER FIVE
You didn’t dare take your eyes off of him.
The man took a step forward and you promptly launched a ladle at him, backpedaling behind the couch as he dodged it. You huffed when it only missed by a hair.
A plethora of household items were strewn about the hardwood floors of the foyer. Books, spray bottles, spoons (you broke into the crate containing the unpacked kitchenware in search of more ammo), etc. were scattered further and further away from their original home as you used them as a way of keeping him a safe distance from you.
“Please, put the skillet down,” he said, inching closer and closer to you, hands outstretched.
If he thought he could trick you into giving up your only form of defense, he was sorely mistaken.
“Stay back!” you hissed, grabbing a wrought iron skillet you had chucked at him earlier. He could try all he wanted to get at you, eat you, skin you, auction you off on the black market… You simply refused to let him have you without a fight.
“I’m not—” He was taking another step towards you but paused as you readied your weapon. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
You eyed him for a moment before taking a long, deep breath. Seeing that as a sign that you were trying to settle down, he carefully came closer.
Thunk!
A single swing of the skillet sent him toppling over.
He may have been your newfound friend’s father, but you were not going to roll over and show your belly in the face of potential danger. Being a parent did not make a person automatically worthy of your trust.
“Okay,” he said in a pained tone, slowly sitting up with a slight sway to him. “That’s fine...”
He crawled onto the couch, slouching over and cradling his head where you had made contact. Without lowering your weapon, you put yourself on the other side of the couch, standing at the arm and watching him very carefully.
The two of you remained silent as he rubbed at his growing welt.
It was awkward…
Why were you actually starting to feel bad about defending yourself? The guy had jump scared you and wouldn’t leave you the fuck alone when you were clearly panicked. He just kept following you, insistent on getting you to calm down but giving you no good reason to.
Honestly, what kind of logic was that? That’s like pelting beach balls at a child with a crippling fear of spherical objects and expecting them not to flinch just because you said it won’t hurt them.
If he wanted you to feel less threatened, he could have just planted his ass on the ground and waited for you to come to him like a stray cat.
“You weren’t supposed to arrive until this afternoon,” you stated.
“Right…um,” he said, looking off to the side, “You know, I just didn’t have much planned this morning, and it worked a bit better for me to come earlier—”
“Charlie told you she wouldn’t be here.” Your eyes narrowed. You knew he was making shit up, and you wanted him to know that you knew. If he wanted to beat around the bush, you would be delighted to become more proficient with the skillet.
“Right again!” The hand that cradled the side of his head moved to rub at his eyes as he sighed. After retracting his hand, he turned to face you, propping an elbow on the backrest of the couch. His eyes ran up and down your body, fully taking you in without your costume, which caused you to shift uncomfortably. Whether or not you were recognizable to him as the ‘demon’ he had already met was still to be determined. “You’re an odd duck, you know that?”
You shot him an incredulous look.
“Me?”
“Yes, you,” he said, jerking his head in your direction. “Showing up all caked in makeup or paint or whatever it is you people wear nowadays. You and Charlie were being painfully suspicious!”
“So, you decided to sneak in when you knew she would be away? To snoop?” you asked, putting a hand on your hip. “You know that’s breaking and entering, right?”
“I am her father,” he scoffed.
“And that makes it okay? If I called to tell her you let yourself in, you think she’d be fine with it?”
“You’re going to snitch?!” his voice went a pitch higher, and he scooted to the edge of his seat.
You took a step back, tightening your grip on the skillet.
“Maybe.”
You had no way of ‘snitching’ on him to Charlie. Your phone was fried, and even then, you weren’t too sure that your provider would have coverage in Hell. And to top it off, you didn’t even have her number…but he didn’t need to know that.
He rolled his eyes, grumbling something to himself as he crossed his arms.
“Why didn’t she just tell me you were human?” he asked no one in particular, throwing his arms out. “That is what you are, correct? In all my years, I have never seen a sinner nor hellborn look as human as you do.”
“Yeah, well…Charlie thought you might freak out if you knew,” you said.
He looked taken aback by that explanation before beginning to sputter.
“Freak—freak out? Because you’re human? I married a human. Her mother was a human!” His hands were waving around as he gestured along with his words.
“We didn’t really want to take any chances…” you said slowly, head tilted away but eyes still locked onto him. “The last time a demon saw me, I was nearly torn to shreds…or eaten alive… I’m not sure exactly what they had planned for me, but it didn’t seem like it’d be pleasant.”
“No, I can’t imagine it would be,” he sighed as he straightened out his hair.
This guy didn’t give two shits, did he?
He snapped his fingers and, with a plume of sparkling smoke, his top hat appeared in his hands. It had previously been about ten feet away on the floor from when you had knocked him upside the head.
“Now just how did you stumble into Hell without the minimum requirement of death?” he asked as he brushed invisible dirt from his hat before placing it back on with a few adjustments.
“That’s a great question,” you said with a smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes. “I’ve got a friend who thought it would be a good idea to try to summon a demon. Obviously, they screwed up, ‘cause it sent me here instead.”
He cackled, and you stood there with a blank expression, cheeks growing hot. Why you were feeling embarrassed over something you had no control over, you weren’t sure.
Well, come to think of it, you did have a bit of control over whether or not Devon had the essential, hard-to-acquire ingredient needed to make the whole thing happen in the first place. Maybe it was karmic justice for your pulling unethical shenanigans in the workplace.
“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, so they say,” he said, shooting you a shit-eating grin.
You rolled your eyes and turned to walk away.
“No, wait–don’t leave!”
You ignored him. Since he was there, you might as well give him his shit back. You would have preferred it to be under different circumstances, such as those where you still had your disguise as a buffer or Charlie returning them in your place (because you’d be back home safe and sound).
But there was no better time than the present, so they say.
You put down the skillet and grabbed the stack of books by the front reception area where you left them after being thoroughly disappointed by their contents. It appeared that Charlie’s father followed you over, as you turned around to find him looking over your shoulder to see what you picked up.
Lord have mercy on your heart.
“Okay, you have to stop that!” you scolded, taking a quick step back.
“Stop what?” he asked with a look of pure innocence.
“Popping up behind me and shit! Somebody needs to put a bell on you or something. Every time you show up out of nowhere, it gives me a goddamn heart attack,” you said, shoving the stack of books into his arms. “Here.”
“What–”
“The books you lent me. We were hoping to find something that could help me get back home but they’re all kinda…not helpful for that,” you explained, toying with a strand of your hair.
“That’s why you and Charlie were there?” he said, looking down at the books with an unreadable expression.
“Well…yes.” You tilted your head. “She thought that’d be the best place to look.”
He sighed before tossing the books up just for all of them to vanish into thin air. You blinked in surprise.
He must have been a magician when he was alive.
“I don’t understand why she didn’t just ask me,” he stressed, throwing a hand up. “I mean, I’m her dad. You’d think it would be instinctual for her!”
“She probably wasn’t sure how you’d react,” you said, looking off to the side. This felt like it could easily spiral into a family therapy session, and even if you were qualified, you did not sign up for that.
“I just have to prove myself to her!” he said in a determined tone, throwing an arm over your shoulder to walk you back over to the couch, “I’ll get you home lickety-split!”
You stiffened at the unexpected contact but conceded to his will, nonetheless.
“Like, now? I could be home today?” you asked, eyes alight with hope.
“Ah…I don’t now about that. It’s been quite a while since I’ve gone to Earth so my skills may be a little rusty, but it won’t take me too long to brush up on them,” he explained as he plopped you both down on the couch. “I’ll have a portal open and ready for you to hop through in no time!”
“It–It’s that easy for you?” you asked, aghast. If Charlie knew he could do that all along, she should have just bit the bullet and asked him. Daddy issues be damned!
“Hah! I used to be able to do it with my eyes closed!” He leaned into you as he emphasized his words. “Usually, I’d charge a sacrifice or something of the sort, but you’re no sinner. You shouldn’t have to be subjected to this hellscape until you’ve earned it.”
“That’s–uh–very kind of you,” you said, smiling and nodding along whilst looking longingly at the front door of the hotel. It was generous of him to offer his services to your cause, but a social buffer would be appreciated considering your circumstances. You hoped Charlie and Vaggie returned soon.
The man continued to converse with you on the sofa for the next hour, and slowly, you felt your anxiety begin to fade. He turned out to be quite the chatterbox, and his commentary was mostly light-hearted and humorous.
Occasionally, he would stand up to poke around the entryway, commenting on anything that wasn’t quite up to his standards. That left you to come to your hostess’ defense whenever you could. After all, the hotel wasn’t technically up and running yet seeing as you weren’t an actual guest and Angel had yet to move in.
After getting all the parental nosiness out of his system, he settled back down beside you and began asking you about your life on Earth. You had to tell him again what you did for work–he apparently wasn’t paying attention the first time–and what all went into it.
The conversation jumped from topic to topic but left little room for you to ask much about him. His interest in Earth and humanity’s accomplishments was overwhelming.
When Charlie and Vaggie finally returned, they were greeted by the sight of the two of you chatting away and sipping on tea, which had been manifested out of thin air. You were highly skeptical of it at first but had decided to drink so as not to spite the one person who could get you back to Earth. You were pleasantly surprised by its flavor and relieved that it didn’t appear to be poisoned or drugged.
“Hey, Dad…” Charlie drawled as she walked up to the couch. It was clear that she was surprised he had beaten them home. “I thought you were going to come, like, an hour from now.”
“I had some free time this morning, so I decided to swing by a little earlier,” he said after standing up to nudge his shoulder into her, “Can’t put a price tag on extra time with my darling daughter.”
“Right…” Charlie said with a strained smile, looking off to the side where her eyes landed on Vaggie. She perked up and pranced over to her side, grabbing her hand to introduce her.
Her dad was ecstatic over getting to meet her girlfriend. You thought he was overbearing when you met him, but that was dwarfed in comparison. He was even more touchy and fumbling over his words.
Vaggie did her best to be polite.
“Haha…so–uh, have you been given a tour of the hotel yet?” Charlie asked, glancing over at you.
“I poked around this area a bit–-didn’t want to intrude too much,” her father chuckled with his hands propped up on his apple staff.
“I thought it would be better to leave that to you,” you said as you stood up to join the group, teacup in hand, “I still struggle to find my way around.”
The night prior, Vaggie had caught you wandering aimlessly on the fourth floor after attempting to find your way to your room on your own. They offered to walk you there since they understood the halls could be a maze sometimes, but you had decided to be stubborn, insisting it was straightforward enough. Clearly, you had overestimated your skills.
That being said, it was a miracle you were able to make it to the foyer that morning.
Vaggie chuckled a bit as she recalled the memory.
Charlie smiled at you knowingly, as well, indicating that the story had been relayed to her. She looked back at her dad for only a moment before her eyes darted back to you, eyes widening as the smile dropped from her face.
“Oh–Oh my god!” she squawked as she rushed to your side. “You’re not–Why aren’t you…” she waved her hand in circles as she tried to find the word she was looking for before leaning in to whisper, “...you know.”
Your eyes narrowed as they rolled over to look at her father.
“I barely rolled myself out of bed when he came knocking,” you explained, “Believe me, I tried to avoid being seen, but…”
But you were hunted down like a mouse running from a fox. Even when you thought you were in the clear, it seemed like he knew exactly where you were and where you would go next.
That man was scary.
“But you cant hide something like that forever~” he sang, wrapping an arm around your shoulder to pull you against him. “However, I never imagined it would be this darling little human.”
He jostled you slightly as he spoke, and you could feel your face warming up from both his actions and his words. However, he had no right to be calling anybody else ‘little’ considering his stature.
“We really need to get her a new phone,” Charlie said to Vaggie, “If she could have called or texted us, we might’ve been able to intervene.”
Charlie’s father scoffed.
“What kind of sinner do you take me for? I’m not an animal, you know––” he began to argue but paused to turn his attention on you, retracting his arm. “You threatened to call her earlier, but you don’t even have a phone?”
Your lips twitched into a guilty smile, and you took a step closer to Charlie.
“You’re a filthy little liar!” He jabbed a finger in your direction.
“You were breaking and entering!” you pitched back.
“I am her–”
“Okay!” Charlie tucked you behind her and put a hand up in front of her dad. “How about that tour then?”
She put one hand on your back and the other on her father’s as she began to lead the group of you through the hotel. You were secretly glad you were getting another chance to look around and get a grasp of the layout.
When you dared to glance over at her dad, he was already eying you bitterly, and the only thing you could think to do was shoot him a sheepish smile in return.
The childish part of you wanted to stick your tongue out and blow a raspberry, but you knew better. He made it clear he had some level of magical abilities, and to what extent, you weren’t sure. That last thing you wanted to do was learn the hard way. Besides, you needed to be on his good side so he’d help you get home.
As the tour progressed, he thankfully dropped his spiteful demeanor towards you in favor of soaking in as much of Charlie’s attention as he could get. You could tell that he was just happy to be near her.
It was sweet.
There were a few times where he exchanged some words with you lightheartedly. It reassured you that you hadn’t managed to say or do anything to genuinely piss him off. Rather, it seemed he was just the dramatic type.
You made it back to the foyer, and when Charlie was finished explaining her ideas for redeeming sinners, she waited eagerly for her father’s thoughts. She was disappointed that he had more opinions on the hotel’s appearance than its purpose, but she didn’t push the subject.
She would have a better chance pitching the idea to him once she had a few successful patrons to use as evidence that sinners could, in fact, be redeemed.
“I can certainly help you spruce the place up a bit,” he said as he waved his stick around the room, “After filling this place up with furniture and maybe adding a bit more light…I’m sure it will look wonderful, honey.”
He sent her a prideful grin, which she subtly rolled her eyes at.
“Thanks, dad… I really appreciate it,” she said as she pulled him into a hug. His face lit up before he shut his eyes and melted into her embrace.
When they parted, he made a gesture at you.
“I was also telling your friend earlier that I’d be more than happy to get her home. I just need some time to warm up. Don’t want to accidentally drop her off in the middle of Antarctica,” he said whilst nudging her and chuckling at his own joke.
“Oh! Well, I don’t really think we need your help with that…” she said, looking away.
You sent her a baffled look.
“We already found some people–today, actually–that can get her home,” she stated with a firm nod of her head. “So no need to worry about that! Sending over furniture is more than enough, which, again, I really appreciate!”
“Nonsense, this is what good fathers do! Besides, I highly doubt they could be more efficient than me,” he huffed before turning to grin at you. “I promise to have you home in no time.

Hi! I’m not sure if you’re still taking requests but if you are, can I ask for one, Batfam x vigilante!male!reader. The reader is a teen (younger than Tim and older than Damian). He’s like super smart and knows martial arts and is a total badass. The bat family has been trying to catch him for a year now. The reader just stopped a drug dealing, near the docks and was about to go back to patrolling but nightwing and Robin show up. They fight for a bit and robin kicks the reader in the water. The reader is exhausted too and passes out. Nightwing sees the reader not coming back up and dives in and rescues him. They take him back to the bat cave, put him in like a cell and the batfam starts questioning him. They find out he’s a kid and a orphan and ALSO knows who they are, bruce decides to adopt him (the reader and Robin not wanting that) but Bruce says something like since the readers just a kid and he already knows their identity, might as well adopt him and keep a eye on him. Thank youuuuu, I hope you can do this! Sorry if it’s a bit much <3
YIPPEE!!! First req in a long time :DD I had to churn this out in like two days so sorry if it feels rushed!
Ahahaha ignore that it’s 1:40 am
**I do not own any characters or part of the franchise from DC**
Pairing: Batfam x male!teen!vigilante!Reader
Genre: found family
Summary: go to req
Tw: brief mention of blood, almost drowning, mention of drugs and drug rings
It’s Called: Freefall
Being a vigilante in Gotham was easy. Easy if you were professionally trained in combat. Easy if you had the money to get every little convenient device you wanted.
Neither of which you were.
Both of which Batman and his posee of underlings were.
Sure you’d picked up what you could being on the street, fending for yourself, sneaking into dojos and boxing gyms to observe and practice later yourself. But in the end, you were just some kid trying to make your way in the vigilante scene. Which led you to the situation you were in currently.
You were crouched on top of two metal shipping crates staring down at the drug deal soon to take place. You squinted through the mixture of darkness and heavy rain. A new drug had recently hit Gotham’s streets and you intended to get your answers and drop the contraband by the police station.
You saw the seller take his position. You readied yourself but waited until the buyer showed up. You needed to be sure they actually had the drugs before you went down guns blazing, cracking skulls and kicking ass.
As soon as you saw the drugs leave the jacket you were on them, jumping from your hiding spot onto the seller, tackling him to the ground. The man yelped in surprise and pain while the buyer started running. You spared the buyer a glance, grunting in annoyance.
“Get the hell off of me you freak!” The seller yelled as you kneeled on his arms and back, pinning him to the ground and grabbing the dropped bag of substances. You sighed as he struggled under you.
“Where’d you get this?” You demanded, increasing the pressure on his back.
“None of your business!” He spat.
“Look, buddy. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. The hard way involves dangling from Wayne enterprises.” You said through grit teeth.
The man seemed to pale at the threat of heights.
“A-a ring leader…we just call him the boss. I swear that’s all I know!” He practically screamed.
“God what a cliché…” You grumbled to yourself, landing a swift blow to his head and knocking him out. You stood up and stretched, groaning.
‘Jesus—my back hurts.’
You brought the bag down to inspect it before shrugging and shoving it into your backpack. You’ll deal with it on the way home. You glanced back down at the unconscious drug hustler.
“Not your day today, buddy.” You said shaking your head.
Then you heard an abnormal sound in the white noise of the rain. A hard thunk on metal. You stilled. Were they really here? Had they searched for you specifically or did they get the same tip as you?
You tensed, preparing. Someone landed behind you and you whipped around to face them.
‘Nightwing.’
‘This is fine. I can handle him…. No. No I definitely can’t. Ok this is fine this is ok.’
“Ready to finally come quietly?” Nightwing flashed a smile.
You returned it with malice. “Never in a million years, boy wonder.” You laughed to yourself.
His smile faltered and he just shrugged.
“Well you brought this upon yourself.” He said and another person jumped down behind you.
You snapped your head in their direction.
‘Robin. The pipsqueak. Great.’
You backed away slowly from both of them, your eyes glancing back and forth between them. They both move at you suddenly. You jump back and dodge one attack from Robin, simultaneously throwing yourself into Nightwing—luckily it caused him to fumble. Your back hit the ground and you grunted in pain. Robin ran at you and you kicked him away from you.
The little caped rat was launched back, skidding to his knees before getting back into an offensive stance. You scrambled to your feet, taking a defensive position. You grit your teeth and glared at him, prepared.
The fight went on for what felt like hours, especially in a two against one.
You spat on the ground; your muscles ached. You saw the flash of red on the asphalt before the rain washed it away. That distracted you enough for Robin to kick you off the dock into the frigid water below.
The water swamped you all at once. The cold seemed to knock all the warmth from your body. You panicked as you sank further and further down, you were so tired. You just wanted to rest. You kicked and flapped your arms desperately but you didn’t feel in control of them. You couldn’t hold your breath anymore. The darkness pulled your mind further from consciousness and you passed out.
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
C’mon, Nightwing.” Robin said to the dark haired man who was staring into the water.
“He’s not coming up.” Nightwing responded.
Robin looked at his brother and raised an eyebrow.
“So?” He asked indifferently.
“He’s in trouble.” Nightwing seemed to have made a decision in that answer.
“What does it—.”
Robin was cut off by Nightwint diving into the water.
“Dammit, Grayson!” Robin yelled after Nightwing.
About a minute later, Nightwing emerged.
“You’re an absolute idiot.” Robin spat at Nightwing, helping him back onto the docks with the young vigilante in his arms.
“He was gunna die.” Nightwing retorted.
“Great.” Robin started sarcastically. “Now, since you’ve saved him, you can drop him here and let the cops deal with him.”
“We’re not doing that, Robin.” Nightwing responded, tiredly.
“I don’t like what you’re suggesting.” Robin growled.
“Suggested? I didn’t even say anything.” Nightwing chuckled some.
“You’re implying we take him back to the cave.”
“He could have answers.”
“He’s a cretin. Not even worth the trouble.” Robin grumbled.
“Always glad to hear your opinions.” Nightwing said sarcastically, already heading back towards the Batcave.
Robin rolled his eyes and reluctantly followed.
⋆﹥━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━﹤⋆
You opened your eyes to blaring lights above you.
‘God, what time is it?’
You rolled over to try and shield your eyes from the light.
‘Lights?’
You rubbed your eyes. You felt no mask. Fear spiked your heart. Memory of the drug pickup and fighting two of Batman’s sidekicks and passing out in the water flooded your brain all at once. You shot up and realized you were in a cell.
‘Oh no no no no no no—‘
You quickly stood up and stumbled. You managed to catch yourself on a glass wall.
“He’s awake, circus clown!“
You looked up to see the Red Hood pushing himself off a wall, looking very tired. Your eyes adjusted to the light as he walked to the front of the cell. No point in hiding your face, they’ve all probably seen it. Nightwing joined him, looking a little too pleased for your liking.
“The man himself gunna show up or did he leave his favorite to do his biding for him?” Red Hood asked. However, there didn’t seem to be much bite behind his words.
“I’ve been here, Red Hood.” Batman himself emerged from the shadows with Robin appearing from behind him like a lost puppy. A very…angry puppy.
Red Hood startled some at the sudden appearance, but recovered quickly. The gun wielding vigilante seemed to curse something at Batman but you couldn’t hear.
“Let’s not delay this anymore.” Batman spoke.
You swallowed. His gaze pierced through chest and saw right through you.
‘Start what?’
“What’s your name?” Batman’s voice was gruff.
“Like hell I’d—“ You started.
“Yo! Red Robin!” Red Hood called to the other other Robin somewhere out of your view.
Your full name, alias, and address was listed within the second. Your heart fell to your stomach and crawled back up again. Nausea punched your gut.
“Tell us all you know about the drugs and the ring relating to them.” Batman’s tone wasn’t aggressive, but you weren’t fooled. This was a command.
“Dunno anything…” You slurred out. Christ, you hurt everywhere.
“I don’t believe you.” He responded.
You rolled your eyes. Sure, you were lying but you just wanted to go home. To nap. Oh my god a nap sounded great right now.
“They call it amethyst. It’s a narcotic. It’s new but sweeping the streets fast. That’s all I know.” You grit out.
“Where are your parents, kid?” Batman asked.
“Don’t you know, since you apparently know everything?” You growled at him.
“I do. I just want confirmation from you.” He responded calmly.
“Six feet under at Gotham Cemetery. You can take up my behavioral issues with them. I’m sure they’d be overjoyed to hear about them.” You told him sarcastically.
Batman was quiet, thinking. Robin suddenly seemed to catch onto something.
“No! No! You’re not going to—!” He yelled.
Batman approached the cell and slipped off his cowl. Your eyes widened. You tried to speak but you couldn’t.
“You’re too young to be on your own. You’re younger than my second youngest. How’d you like to live with me and my family?”
You shook your head from you stunned state.
“What!” You gaped.
“No!“
“No!
Both you and Robin exclaimed in unison. Batman—who was apparently Bruce Wayne, by the way—smiled some.
“Seems it’s that or foster care.” He said, seeming to not even consider the possibility of putting you in foster care.
“You’ll fit right in.” Bruce Wayne seemed to find it amusing.
He typed a code into the keypad and the door opened. You blinked and stepped out hesitantly. The other three sidekicks were watching you. One with muted excitement, one with indifference, and one with outrage.
“I’ll get Alfred to set up a room for you. I’m sure you’re tired.” Bruce Wayne said.
Your head was still reeling. Sleep? That sounded more excellent than anything else you could be offered. You sighed. You shouldn’t start composing yet. You just got unofficially adopted by the richest man in the city. Things could be worse, right?

Beneath the city lights
Tumblr media
pairing: mafia! Changbin x reader
warning: angst with a happy ending, weapons, blood, death
author's note: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BINNIE!!!
Seo Changbin sat in his dimly lit office, a glass of Gin in his hand. He was a ma of power, the undisputed mafia boss of the city, feared and respected by all. His life was one of control, calculated decisions and iron-fisted rule over his territory that even extended over the border of the city.
But there was one thing that he cherished more than his whole empire. You. You were his light, the one person he could turn to when he felt down. Only you could see behind his facade of his cold and composed demeanor. He never thought he would meet a person that could bring back his soft personality, yet, you came into his life like a summer breeze, gently but impossible to ingnore. Your laughter was the melody he saught after a hard day of blood and betrayal, your touch was the warmth he craved in a world of cold shadows.
But tonight, Changbin's world was on the brink of chaos. It started with a phone call. The voice on the other end was calm, almost to calm.
"We have her, Changbin" The words were like ice water down his spine. He knew who was on the other end of the phone. It was his enemy who tried for years to take over the reign.
"You heard me? We have your girl and if you want to see her again alife, you will do as we say." Before he could even reply something, the line went dead. For the first time in years, he felt a chill of fear running down his spine. You were everything to him, his whole world. He would do anything for you even this meant that he needs to give up his control. He felt like nothing without you. Like a small boy, all alone in this big world.
Without wasting a second, Changbin called his most trusted man - Chan, his right hand and best friend since the first day. He explained the situation quickly, his voice a cold whisper, filled with anger and distress that boiled beneath the surface.
"They have taken Y/n. We are getting her back" he described what happend briefly.
"What's the plan, Boss?"
"Tell Han that he needs locate where they are keeping her. Fast. I want to have her back before sunrise" Chan agreed, already contacting Han, the most skilled hacker of the group.
"He will dig up everything on our enemies. We will find her" Chan added promising.
Hours passed like years as Changbin waited for the informations from Han. The others were already contacted and ready to get you out as soon as possible. His mind raced through scenarios, but one thing remained clear. He would tear the city apart. Brick by brick if it meant saving you.
Finally, Han send him the location where you were supposed to be captured. It was an abandoned warehouse at the edge of the city, a place where deals were made lives were lost.
He let out a long breath, some weight was lifted off his shoulder. It meant that he was just a small time away to finally hold you in his arms again. Changbin put his knive and gun in his pockets, walking to his car and drove to the address. During the whole ride there was a total silence, just the rhythmic tipping of Changbin's fingers against the stirring wheel could be heard faintly.
Finally, he and his men neared the warehouse and he ordered them to spread out and take positions. With all cost, he didn't want to risk a shootout. Not, when you, his most precious thing, was in danger and could possibly get hurt. But he was still prepared for one in case his enemies threatened you too much.
He entered the warehouse, a house made of old bricks that slowly fell apart, followed by Chan and Felix, his best fighters for such missions. They moved within the shadow in silence, not daring to draw the attention of the enemy to them. The interior was dark, the air thick with the smell of dust and decay as they walked through the maze of crates and metal beams, always on high alert for any sign of movement.
Then, they reached a large open space in the center of the building. Your front was facing him, sitting in the middle of the open room. Above you, the upper floor was demolished and changbin could see some of his enemies men patrolling. You were tied to a chair, your hands secured with a rope to the back of it. All he could see was that you shook, propably from the cold air and mostly fear.
Changbin's heart ached at the sight of his beloved, but he needed to be focused. When he was unwary now that would mean that he would most definitely loose you completly.
You, on the other hand, were unknowing to your lover's presence in front of you. Your head hurt due to a hard hit to knock you out. Dried blood stuck on your temple and your lip was slightly chapped.
You knew that Changbin was about to save you. It was just a matter of time. Despite that, there was a fear within you that makes your body shake. A fear that he might come to late or that these people will hurt you further. It was the first time that someone tried to control Changbin with capturing you after all. You never have thought that perhaps somebody will hurt you because you thought that they all were afraid of your lover's merciless and wouldn't touch you.
Changbin spotted his enemy right beside you, a smirk on his develish face.
"Seo Changbin" the man sneered. "Nice to see you here. I wondered how long it would take you to get here" You turned your head so that you could see your boyfriend. Changbin walked out of his hideout while Felix and Chan stayed there, still unnoticed.
"Let her go, and I will consider letting you walk out of here alive" He replied deadly calm.
His enemy laughed, a cruel sound that echoed in the empty hall. "You are in no position to bargain. Remember, I won't hesitate to hurt her"
Changbin's eyes flahed with anger. He had never been one to negotiate with threads. With one swift motion, he pulled out his gun, already aiming at his enemy. However, his rival had expected this reaction and held a knive against your thoat, lightly cutting into your skin so that some blood ran down your neck.
A high whine and a crie escaped you due to the pain and it fueled your boyfriends anger even more but he knew that he couldn't shoot now. Not, when your life is in danger.
"I can't believe it. The great Seo Changbin is brought to his knees for a woman" the man behind you laughed loudly with a growing smirk present on his face.
"Let her go, now" Changbin growled, eyes darkening.
That fueled the laugh even more. "Why should I? You can't shoot me now. Not when you don't want to hurt her"
Changbin lowered his gun, smirking. "You're right. I can't shoot you. But my boys" A shot ringed out before the man could react. The bullet found its mark and his rival crumpled to the ground, the knive fell clashing to the ground in front of you. The shot was precise, executed by Seungmin, his best sniper, who sat on the upper floor, shooting through the hole when the time was right.
Chaos erupted as the rest of his enemies' men opened fire. Chan, Felix and the rest of his men who had invaded the warehouse responded immediatly, a violent dance of bullets and blood. Changbin moved with lethal precision, his only thought was to reach you.
Finally, he was beside you, cutting through the ropes to free you. You looked up to him, tears of fear rolling down your cheeks but your eyes were filled with relief.
"You came for me" you whispered as he ripped some fabric from his shirt, pressing it gently on the wound of your neck to stop it from bleeding.
"Always", he replied, pulling you into his arms. "I will always come for you"
The gunfire had ceased, the rivals either dead or fleeing. Chan approached, completely drenched in blood but with a kind smile on his face.
"Let's get out of here" he said and Changbin nodded, helping you on your feet. You leaned on him, your body trembling from the ordeal. Tenderly, he slipped out of his jacket and placed it around your shoulders. He guided you out of the warehouse, his arms protectively wrapped around you.
As they stepped into the cool air of the night, Chandbin knew that he needed to find all of his enemies' men and there would be retaliation. But that was a task for the future. For now, you were save and that was all that mattered.
You drove back to Changbin's estate in complete silence. You were sitting on his lap, your head leaned on his shoulder, exhaustion overtaking you. He held you close, his mind already planning the retribution that would come. No one threatened what was his and lived to tell the tale.
When you arrived, he carried you inside, laying you gently on the bed. With sleepy eyes, you looked up at him with a softness.
"Than you" you whispered softly.
Changbin brushed a strand of hair from your face, his expression tender.
"I will always protect you, Y/n. No matter what"
You smiled, a small, tired smile, and closed your eyes, finally allowing yourself to rest with the knowledge that your beloved will protect and watch over you. Changbin sat beside you, holding your hands in his. The storm inside him was far from over but for tonight, he was at peace. He had you back and nothing in the whole world mattered more than that.

Wishing on Golden Stars [TEASER]
Tumblr media
a/n: this is a short little 1k snippet of my large wip for ayato, Wishing on Golden Stars! its an isekai fic with a long list of progression and development that has both canon and canon-divergent scenarios that i hope i don't absolutely bomb (◎_◎;) (seriously im putting a lot into this- my notes are insane) this fic will have a fem!reader!!
the plan is to prewrite the fic in its entirity and then section it off into chapters so it's less overwhelming and i dont fall behind on not continuing it bc i have a rly bad habit of that ㆆᴗㆆ" [the chances of things being altered/incorrect is highly likely here bc i didn't edit this snippet hardly at all]
Tumblr media
When you finally leave the last inching grounds of the Tenryou Commission, you find Thoma obediently waiting for you. Feeling free of the burden of delivery, you meet up with him and put your hands on your hips while he hops back to his feet.
“Alright,” you breathe, “where to now?”
“Ritou!” He cheers and his suddenly bubbly attitude- although normal- was a hop, skip and jump away from his push over attitude when you strongarmed him into coming to the city with you. Your eyebrow raises and you shift your weight onto your side.
“Ritou? What, something else needs ‘Fixing’? Or are your ears just burning?” Thoma waves his hand dismissively and laughs as you both start walking off.
“Oh, no. Nothing like that. Captain Beidou is coming back into port I hear,” he hums with a skip in his step that seemed way too excited. “She’s got some interesting ‘cargo’ this time around- or so rumor says.”
“When you talk like that- you sound nefarious, Thoma.”
“What? Do I really?” Leaving the city, you wonder just what cargo she’s brought with her. If it was a rumor, surely you should’ve heard it too- since you ran in the same circles more or less. In the back of your mind, you felt like you should know, but it never came to you.
You join Thoma at the docks, sitting himself comfortably atop some crates as he offered you a snack- which you accept. You look around the docks and feel a little bit nostalgic. This had been where you had floated in from your world. Seeing it always made you feel a bit melancholic when you came by for one reason or another.
Soon, the ship Thoma had been anticipating appeared off in the distance on the water's horizon. You still couldn’t get the nagging out of the back of your head that you should know what’s coming. It wasn’t until seeing the head of blond hair shining like stars and the floating white fairy that is their companion at the front bow of the Crux, it hit you like a truck.
The Traveler has arrived in Inazuma..!
While you were giddy at seeing them and figuring out which twin it would be, on top of getting a pretty good idea on the timeline of events now, you also felt a pit forming in your stomach. Things were about to get pretty shaky in Inazuma and there was no way in hell you’d be able to steer anyone out of the way of the path.
Tumblr media
From the moment Thoma jumped up from the boxes he was sitting on while flipping a coin in his hand aimlessly, to jumping up and hoping down to greet Beidou you felt like you had no place in the moment. It was the first time since getting used to Inazuma that you could recall parts of the game so vividly; seeing it play out in front of you like this made you feel isolated in a way that completely overshadowed your original giddiness.
You had been excited to possibly get to greet Beidou before she set sail back off since having Kazuha, a wanted figure in Inazuma, currently on the Crux didn’t make for a full-scale dock. The shackles of invisible misplacement bound to your ankles keep you in place as you soon see her turn her back on the three others and retreat back to her ship. Thoma speaks momentarily to the new ‘honored guests’ afterward.
“Now then, first things first, we need to get you registered at the border checkpoint.”
“Um, Paimon thought we were supposed to be keeping this on the downlow… Are we just going to walk into the government's hands?”
“Haha, don’t underestimate the reaches of the Sakoku Decree. You wouldn’t be able to avoid inspection even if you tried. So we have to play by the rules… even if we’re kind of bending them.”
Thoma wraps up his spiel before gesturing towards you, nearly completely hidden behind the crates that smell like sea salt-stained wood he had previously been relaxed on. The other two hadn’t even realized you were there. Cupping one of his hands around his mouth, he shouts your name.
“Come over here and say hello to our new guests!” His hand that had been cupped to help his voice travel, moves over his head in an eager come here motion. You swallow and it feels like there's a handful of sand in your throat. Clearing it helps none.
You try and find your footing- both literally and figuratively- as you make a very conscious attempt not to slip down the few wooden steps to the trio. You place your hands behind your back so you could fiddle with your fingers anxiously on the downlow. Thoma gently gestures to you once you stand at his side with one arm, the other towards the Traveler and Paimon.
“This lovely lady is y/n. She’s a dear friend and coworker of mine, so she’ll be sticking around for the remainder of this errand.”
“Hi!” Greeted the so-called ‘voice’ of the Traveler. “It’s nice to meet you. Paimon’s, Paimon and he’s, Aether!” She points one of her small hands towards the male twin who offers you a friendly smile and head nod. You release one of your hands and offer a small, friendly wave to the both of them.
“I’m glad you managed to sail in safely,” you speak. Your voice is quieter than normal and judging by Thoma’s raised brow in your direction, he noticed. “Of course, you were in good hands, I hear.”
“Oh yeah!” Paimon agrees, proudly crossing her arms. “That storm was no match for Beidou!”
You didn’t realize you were staring at Aether until his eyes met yours and you suck in a breath so abruptly, you begin coughing. Thoma, panicking at your sudden fit, rubs your back as you hunch over. Hands on your knees and face down towards the dock. You could see the water waving between the wooden planks and you squeeze your eyes shut. ‘Get it together!’ you scream at yourself.
Briefly apologizing and catching your breath, you reassure Thoma that you’re fine and that the whole process of bending the rules to get Aether into Inazuma and past the Decree wouldn’t wait forever. No better time than the present to get work done after all.
Following beside Thoma, who was leading the way for Aether and Paimon, he gently nudges your arm, leaning down to whisper to you. Once more, he asks if you were really doing okay. And once again, you reassure him that you were perfectly fine… like a liar.
Tumblr media
a/n: once again, this is only a snippet that is sure to go through another round or two of editing! I kinda picked a random scene early in the script lol. At the time of posting this, the wip is now over 12k words long with the end no where in sight lmao rip
also lets ignore the absolute lack of ayato in the ayato fanfic pls... T-T I cant help it if he's away on business okay

🍠 harvesting sweet potatoes 🍠
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this was my second year growing potatoes, but my first year growing sweet potatoes specifically. when i grew normie potatoes, i ended up with less than what i put in the ground... that's how bad it turned out. while researching why i did so badly, i learned sweet potatoes grow totes differently so i decided i would try those this year.
i am very happy i did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i started off by bringing my teeny tiny harvest basket assuming i did horribly, but after half of the first plant i had to go grab my big boi harvest crate my dad made me. i also found 4 baby carrots that i grew last year during my harvest. ignore those.
prior to harvesting, i turned to the internet out of habit to see what needed to be done. sadly, the internet had varying degrees of how to handle both harvesting and curing potatoes. then i remembered farmer mama used to grow these so i hit her up for the true knowledge. i shall put it here for y'all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there's no need to wait until first frost, and actually it's prolly not ideal if you wait. it's going to be first frost pretty soonTM so right now is just fine. it's easier to diggie dig if you trim back all the vines first. i did prune back the vines and leaves the deer left for me, and i tossed them in as my first layer of compost for the garlic bed (garlic post soon, i'm running behind on planting them...)
Tumblr media
now i can grab on to the neck of the plant and rip it up. totally not morbid to phrase it that way. to say i squeed with joy when i saw large and bountiful potatoes this time is an understatement. hubs was prepping the perennial flower area to plant those plants and he thought i was getting attacked by yellowjackets again. my yipee and my panic screams are the same so i don't blame him.
for digging, since this was in my tall raised bed i just used my arms and hands and dug around. i had my shovel handy, but my acoustic self prefers to use hands for everything, and also because the shovel could pierce the skin of the potatoes. which isn't horrible, but an annoyance and an extra worry when curing so just not worth imo. the potatoes didn't go further than 8 inches below the soil, so no reason to keep digging. you can also tell when the roots get smaller and smaller. i also learned that for sweet potatoes like 90% of the taters are right under that neck, so also no real reason to dig around too much except if you want to find those baby outliers.
Tumblr media
so incredibly happy with this harvest 😍❤️🍠
the purpose of me growing these was because, well, why not, but also because i want to offer sweet potato slips at the farmers market next april. i offered only a few this year because i just didn't know what would happen and if i wanted someone else to grow it and see how theirs turned out to compare. why purple? well, why normie???? purple is so much prettier and i'm actually going to focus on a lot of purple produce in 2025 lmao. but i digress.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok so i hit the tumblr photo limit just from talking about harvesting these gorgeous purple divas therefore i shall do a 2nd post about the curing stage. spoiler alert: i am curing the baby tubers because market slips next year and i washed the big chonkas in my outdoor sink and boiled them immediately.
boiling was a mistake. good news is i learned the kitchen would look pretty with purple floors 🫠 and that if you clean up purple potato water on kitchen floor with clorox bleach that it turns the purple color blue 🫠 i love science.
since i got too overexcited i boiled too much. i saved enough in the fridge to make a sweet potato pie later this week, ate some for dinner, and then froze the rest in ziploc bags. i have a feeling i'll be making multiple purple sweet potato pies this season because why the hell not.
don't worry i'll have photos of the pie when i make it. hehe.
ok chores real quick then on to the next post about curing the potatoes, very important.

Inspired by that one Heart Hunter interaction with Julian, how would the M6 react to a MC who's way stronger then they look?
Btw i seriously have to thank you for everything you do. Seeing you post puts the biggest gein on my face every time, you're awesome!!
The Arcana HCs: M6 when MC is stronger than they look
~ yes. Just ... yes. yes. thank you. and also, thank you for the compliment! knowing that people enjoy my ideas puts the biggest grin on my face too! cheers to you anon - brainrot ~
Julian
He was already very much in love with you before, but DAMN
He does not have enough room in his body for this level of attraction. The first time you display your surprising amount of strength he just about melts into the floor
For such a tall guy, he doesn't have that much mass on him, so having you around is a whole new version of things he didn't know he needed in his life
Pickle jar? He's asking you to open it. Something fell under the couch? He's asking you to lift one end while he bends over to retrieve it
Malak must have dragged his eyepatch back there, silly raven
Any chance to watch you be strong, really
He also adores the chance to get a good feel for your abilities up close, so you can expect him to be a lot more clumsy when you're around
Suddenly he can't step over anything without tripping and falling. He is not safe around stairs, doorsteps, cobblestones, or even that one kitchen tile apparently
He just likes the way you catch him
Asra
They knew post-recovery that you weren't physically weak, but they had no idea just how strong you had gotten
Until he randomly decided to get an overstuffed neon tie-dye couch to go under the window and you managed to get it up the stairs almost completely by yourself
They were completely caught off guard and are now very curious about exactly how strong you are
If you're willing, he'll ask you to lift heavier and heavier things each day until he gets an idea of how much you can manage
They also love to tease, so this is going to be their cue to baby their strong, capable beloved
You could be restocking a part of the shop and he'll take a crate of feathers from your hands and coo at you while he carries it to the next set of shelves
They love seeing you shine, though, so they won't hesitate to ask you for help with something heavy or invite you to try something physically impressive
He just adores everything about you, what else is there to say?
Nadia
The first time she sees your strength her eyebrows nearly meet her hairline. She is very, very impressed
She's stuck between not wanting to make you self-conscious and asking you to do it again so she can watch more closely this time
She'll end up asking you to do it again and then be uncharacteristically distracted for the next fifteen minutes
Will eventually ask why you're so strong
Is it the diet? The lifestyle? The magic use? A spell? The side effects of having the body of an Arcana? Being a shopkeep? A mysterious exercise regimen?
Now that she knows what you're capable of, she'll invite you to join her for more physically demanding tasks
If you didn't know how to fence before, you're about to learn. If weapons aren't your preference, she'll pick up boxing with you
She's not the type to brag but she does like to show off things that she believes are worth praising
She's going to ask you to carry lots of heavy things whenever her sisters are around
Muriel
You have no idea how relieved he is not to be the only significantly strong person in the room anymore
Do you know how awkward it is for him?
Don't get him wrong, he loves to help, but it's a little intimidating when every eye in the room turns to him as soon as someone pulls out a stubborn jar
And it gets even worse when all the attention makes him sweat and he keeps losing his grip
Now he can turn and look at you instead and his hands can stay dry
If you're up for it, he really appreciates the extra set of muscle around the woods. Sometimes the big, old trees fall across the paths, and while he can manage on his own, it's much easier with you around
He secretly loves it when you show a slight competitive side
It's fun to unnecessarily move a boulder across the clearing just to wait for you to not-so-subtly try to lift it yourself a few hours later
He has to be careful though, because he might choose something too heavy and then feel guilty when you pull your shoulder
Portia
Ilya was feeling petty when he stopped by earlier, which means he put a bunch of things on the top shelf again, and she's on her toes trying to reach them because she doesn't like using the stool, and -
Oh, that's so much easier, how are you able to pick her up like she doesn't weigh anything at all?!?
She's read about this in some of the fairy tale novels in the palace library and now she's even more convinced that you came straight out of a book
Mysterious? Magical? A partner in crime? A partner in crime who can dramatically carry her to safety? Be still her beating heart
She will ask you recreate scenes with her out of curiosity. What's it really like to be princess carried around the house? Can you uproot a small tree with your bare hands?
If a shipment of something heavy comes in she'll drag you to the back entrance to see if you can lift it (and to show off who she's dating to the palace staff)
She's also surprisingly strong, so heaven forbid someone ticks you both off during introductions on an ambassador visit. Those handshakes are going to hurt
Lucio
He likes to think that he's the brawn to your brains in your relationship, so when he sees you with both he's not sure how to react
Does he want to test his strength against yours and prove himself? Yes. Does he also want to receive the princess treatment? Yes
He'll go back and forth on how to proceed
Maybe he'll challenge you to an arm wrestle and let you win so you have to promise to protect him if anything happens
Maybe he'll just use his gauntlet to point out that yeah, you're strong, but he bets you can't do THIS (... oopsie)
A few broken tables later he finds that teaching you to fight is much better. He gets to admire your strength up close and still show off what he's good at
He also gets to give back, in a way. You've contributed so much to his growth as a person, now he has the chance to help you flourish too
He will brag about you in every town you stop by until the stories he tells become rumors that turn into legends
You're tired of disappointing new friends when you can't split a mountain in two with a flick of your wrist

Truth
Masterlist
Pairing: Loid x Female!Reader x Yor
Prompt: 6 I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This week felt like it refused to end,you kept getting mission after mission. You were exhausted and felt you haven't spent any time with Yor and Loid or Anya,it made you feel sad to lose time with them. You had gotten so attached to them and wanted to spend as much time as you could with them,in fact your new life with them made you realize how much time you wasted working, but you couldn’t exactly stop now. All you could do was try to finish up as quickly as you could and get back to your family.
***
The mission was simple: take out the CEO of some company, you didn’t care to ask questions as long as you were getting paid. You had gotten your hand on info that told you he’d be meeting someone at a warehouse on the harbor late at night. Turns out that info was right, since you saw his car pull up next to one of the warehouses. You snuck in and hid behind one of the massive shipping crates, but it turns out you weren’t the only one. Across from you you saw a man who was knocked out and tied up. You soon hear a man talking to your target, you assume this man must’ve been the one to knock out the man in front of you. Staying hidden you listened in on their conversation, but something about that man's voice sounded familiar. You peaked out to get a better look,he didn’t look familiar but you swore you knew that voice. And when he spoke again you realized
“Loid” You whispered his name without realizing the shock paralyzing you, causing you to take a step back but you ended up knocking into something, making a lot of noise. Suddenly your target pulled out a gun, aiming it at Loid.
“I told you to show up alone!” He yelled, your instinct kicked in and you sprinted to protect him,not thinking about yourself. You ended up getting shot twice in your arm and shoulder, but you managed to shoot him in the leg. You were aiming higher but you couldn’t lift your arm further. Thankfully Loid caught you before you fell to the ground, taking your gun but he was stopped by Yor.
“Keep an eye on her,I’ll take care of him” She ran off, leaving you there with Loid holding you. He took off his mask and for once you saw fear on his face.
“What are you doing here? Why did you do that?” He tried to stop your bleeding, but he was clearly panicking.
“Because I couldn’t let you get hurt” He just sighed before putting his hand on your cheek,it was a moment when he let his walls down but only for a moment. They came back up just as quickly, as he focused on your wounds.
“You shouldn’t have done that”
“I’d do it a hundred times over for you,Yor and Anya” His walls crumbled back down in seconds and he kissed you. You could hear the sound of Yor’s heels clacking against the ground, the sound getting louder as she got closer.
“Y/N,are you okay?” She didn’t let you answer before turning to Loid “Loid is she going to be okay?”
“She’ll be fine,we need to get home. I have the stuff I need in my room, but we need to hurry” Loid picked you up,holding you close to him.
***
You didn’t really spend much time in Loid’s room,it was organized but void of personality. You were sitting on his bed, your back facing him as he patched you up. Yor was waiting outside, making sure Anya didn’t find out. Once he was done, you turned to face him. He took off his glasses and set them aside,he still looked worried but he suddenly said.
“So you’re an assassin?”
“So you’re a spy?” You asked back, you sighed “Listen I did what I had to survive, but this is what I’m good at”
“It was the only thing I was good at too” Yor had walked in without you hearing her.
“So were all lying to each other” Loid added
“Not exactly” They both looked at you confused “I wasn’t lying about how much I love both of you,and I want to be with both of you despite you being a spy” You turned to Loid and then to Yor “And you being an assassin” Suddenly Loid hugged you,he wasn’t very physically affectionate so you were caught off guard but Yor quickly joined you. “Loid,Yor I love you both so much” Yor kissed you on the cheek.
“We love you too”

Artificial Prime
Part 2 of the Artificial Prime AU, previous post here.
Recap: Optimus is a machine made by Ratchet to replace the deceased Orion Pax and serve as the Prime the Autobots desperately need. He didn't know he was a machine, he wasn't supposed to know that the Matrix within him was fake or that he was sparkless. But then Smokescreen arrived on earth with the real Matrix and now the truth has no choice but to come out lest the Autobots fall.
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙
The real Matrix shone in the container it had come in and Optimus lay sprawled out on the ground unconscious, his processors overwhelmed by the sudden surge of data. The team remained silent for a long moment while Ratchet panicked. Then before any of them could do anything about it, he slammed the lid back on the crate and shoved the Matrix in its box under his medical berth.
His processors whirled, desperate to come up with a convincing lie to get both Optimus and the team convinced that Optimus was indeed a Prime. He briefly considered trying to claim that the new Matrix was fake, but none could deny its aura. It was real, it had to be. The very sparks of all the natural born Cybertronians sang at the sight of the relic, they all knew what it was.
In the end Ratchet gathered up Optimus while the team were still reeling and dropped him on the medical berth while struggling to come up with a solution. However after a moment, the team began to understand what happened and in mere moments, there were questions barraging him.
Smokescreen: That was the Matrix! The fragging Matrix! How is it here and not... in Optimus's chest?!?
Arcee: Ratchet, you seem to know what's going on. Care to explain?
Ratchet: ...
Bulkhead: Ratch? Is it fake or something?
Bumblebee: Is Optimus going to be alright?
Ratchet: ... Forget you ever saw this. If you want things to stay the way they should, forget you ever saw the relic and pretend it didn't happen.
Smokescreen: What?!
Ratchet: I can't tell you the truth. It would ruin everything. Just listen to me this once and don't say a word. When Optimus wakes pretend this didn't happen and never speak of it again.
Arcee: You can't be serious!
Ratchet: I am more serious than ever before. Optimus can't know about this. He needs to keep believing. He isn't allowed to know.
Bulkhead: Ratchet, you aren't making any sense-
Ratchet: Do you want a Prime?! Do you want a leader!? Then shut up and follow orders like a good soldier while I fix this!
Ratchet's sharp response caught the entire team off guard, so much so that they didn't stop him and merely watched on in growing fear and concern as he put the box with the Matrix in a storage room and locked the door before demolishing the access point. Not a spark had any idea why he had given them the orders he had or why he was trying to get rid of the actual Matrix of leadership. However as Optimus stirred, they had a choice to make.
As soon as Optimus's waking reached Ratchet's audio receptors he hurried forward and eliminated any evidence of the Matrix's existence before slamming down a random datapad that he intended to claim was the item within the box Smokescreen carried. Then as Optimus shot up, horrified and clawing at his chassis and looking around for where he last saw the Matrix, Ratchet smoothed his expression with such skill that even the team were frightened. Then without any hesitation he told Optimus it was all a dream, that it wasn't real. As he did so he uttered a soft command one which inspired submissiveness and trust. It was one of his failsafes, and while Optimus seemed confused, the command worked and he got up rubbing his helm.
The moment the Prime looked away, Ratchet shot the team the most deadly glare he could, almost daring them to go against his orders. They all looked away and said nothing, earning a hint of relaxation and hope in the medic. Optimus couldn't know the truth. If the team remained silent he could explain himself and come up with a reasonable lie. But until then, he needed them to keep what they had seen to themselves.
Thankfully with a few more near silent commands from Ratchet to make Optimus unfocused, the Prime didn't notice anything and wandered off to his quarters on Ratchet's orders to recharge. At which point Ratchet was once again met with questions, all of which he brushed off as best as he could. He murmured something about answering them later and then reminded the team to keep their mouths shut with yet another glare before heading off to his own quarters to think.
Optimus couldn't know. But now it was too late to keep the full truth hidden. That left Ratchet with only one real option... he had to choose the lesser of two evils and offer up a fraction of the truth, that being that the Matrix in Optimus's chassis was not the real one.
Ratchet mulled over his response for nearly a whole day, unwilling to leave his quarters and he agonized over it. By that point the team had already begun to question aloud and Ratchet's commands to Optimus had worn off. The Prime was suspicious and quickly came to realize that what he was told was not at all true as the team broke and told him what they had seen and experienced.
In the end Optimus was left fearful, confused, and anxious for answers. As such he and the team ended up waiting for Ratchet impatiently as he finally dragged himself out of his quarters to face the inevitable. One truth needed to be revealed, and in his mind, it was better that the falsity of the Matrix come to light rather than Optimus's nature. At least that way he could keep likely keep the team together and shoulder the blame, effectively ensuring the Autobots wouldn't crumble.
He should have known better than to expect things to go that easily.
Optimus: You lied to me Ratchet.
Ratchet: ...
Optimus: I want to know why. Tell me old friend, what's going on?
Ratchet: ... Optimus, you must promise to listen to me before doing anything drastic first.
Optimus: I cannot guarantee that.
Ratchet: ... Very well.
Smokescreen: Is it fake!? The Matrix, is it?
Ratchet: The Matrix that you brought with you is real Smokescreen. There is no denying that.
Arcee: Then Optimus-?!
Ratchet: His Matrix is fake. I made it and implanted it after minor memory alteration and frame upgrades.
Optimus: ... why?
Ratchet: We needed a Prime. Primus would not give us one, so I did what was required.
Optimus looked like his entire world was crashing down around him, his face the embodiment of pain, shock, and confusion. He didn't pass out again, but he wobbled and held onto the nearest surface like it was his lifeline as he opened his chassis to look at the faux Matrix. He raised a shaky servo to it and touched the faux Matrix as if the thing itself had betrayed him.
The team were in mixed states of shock. Arcee looked conflicted, Bulkhead appeared to want to vanish into thin air, Smokescreen just seemed confused more than anything, and Bumblebee was torn between going to Optimus and asking further questions. Ratchet watched it all while silently wishing Smokescreen had never arrived. The rookie was ruining everything, and all Ratchet could do was try to patch up the complex lie he had built up for the entirety of the Autobots and for Optimus.
After the reveal Optimus retreated to his quarters for over three days, not coming out for anything while he processed a whole part of his worldview shattering. Ratchet slid a datapad under his door containing all the details of the faux Matrix minus anything that would hint at Optimus's true nature. He hoped it would bring his creation some sense of understanding, but he could only wish. All the while the team did their best to function on their own. Thankfully for Ratchet, while they avoided him like the plague and treated him with mixed hatred and grim understanding, the team remained loyal. They didn't show any signs of abandoning the Autobots because of the lie Ratchet had built, and in fact they seemed more loyal now that they knew Optimus was as much as a victim of the lie as they were.
It was a cold comfort, but one Ratchet accepted. He had already made himself a heretic and a sinner by creating Optimus at all. He knew what fate awaited him and he accepted the cold disregard for his presence stoically. He deserved it after all.
When Optimus emerged again he was received with more understanding and care from the team than anything else. They respected him still and gave him their sympathies. He was in far more pain than they were and they knew it. He had led armies, fought in a pointless war, and suffered through every conceivable form of pain because he believed it to be his duty as Prime. To find out that he was not a Prime was a harsh reality check, one that had Optimus similarly avoiding Ratchet as if he were a stranger.
Ratchet accepted it all. He didn't show any emotion during the day and only told the children to refer to Optimus by his first name and not his title. He patched wounds as quickly as he could, opened ground bridges without a word, and kept out of everyone's way. What did his loneliness matter after all he had done? He deserved to be treated as an outcast.
As such time passed and battles were fought. Optimus opted to not reveal the truth of his lack of a Matrix to the Decepticons for obvious reasons. But around base he dropped the name of Optimus and instead asked to be called Orion, a fact that left Ratchet wanting to purge every single time the name was called. Still he endured and did not utter a word of objection, instead focusing on keeping the children from noticing the growing gulf between himself and the team.
They hunted relics, fought Megatron for them, and continued their war. It was a sad existence for Ratchet, but an acceptable one... right up until Optimus came to him for the first time in months since the reveal and asked him for one simple thing.
Optimus wanted the faux Matrix removed, claiming that he wanted to leave behind anything that set him apart from the others. Ratchet only half heard Optimus explanation before stress and panic emerged and he slammed his fist down onto his workstation with a resounding cry of "No". The team who were listening in all paused in shock again and Optimus looked more frustrated than anything. The artificial Prime had evidently had enough and began to question, asking why and getting in Ratchet's face. Ratchet pushed his creation away and refused to answer. The faux Matrix couldn't be removed, doing so would reveal Optimus's lack of a spark. Perhaps on Cybertron he could have whipped up something fake to go there instead, but on earth? He had no such ability.
Soon enough Optimus got frustrated and opened up his chassis with the intent to tear out the faux Matrix if Ratchet wouldn't. Desperate and fueled by panic and fear, Ratchet made a mistake. He grabbed Optimus's arm, tore him away from his attempts and uttered the shut down phrase he had installed in terror. Before he could realize his mistake, Optimus dropped to the ground, aware but paralyzed.
The team rushed to his aid while Ratchet shook, knowing that now there would be more questions. How could he tell them? Optimus already didn't trust him. And now that Ratchet's failsafe code had been revealed there was no way in the pits that Optimus wouldn't get curious and dig on his own if Ratchet failed to explain.
He was fragged, totally and completely fragged.
Arcee: What did you do to him!?
Bumblebee: Fix this! He needs help!
Bulkhead: We need an explanation now!
Ratchet: It was a failsafe code.
Smokescreen: What does that even mean?!
Ratchet: I... I couldn't risk him going rogue... If he ever found out or his AI went out of control I needed a way to shut him down until I could fix things.
Bumblebee: ... AI?
Ratchet: ... He wasn't supposed to be like this. He... it was supposed to be a tool, a machine to serve as a placeholder until the war was over... it wasn't meant to adapt as it has. I never intended for it to really feel anything.
Arcee: Ratchet, are you saying-?!
Ratchet: Orion Pax died. We needed a leader. I made one for us, a perfect leader who would never fall to lesser emotions like greed and envy.
Ratchet: ...
Ratchet: I made a perfect artificial Prime all for your sakes. It was for our cause... for the Autobots...
Not a word was spoken amid the silence that followed. Optimus remained prone, his optics gazing up at Ratchet in increasing horror as his AI struggled to comprehend the reality. The team stood in growing horror, looking between the paralyzed Optimus and Ratchet in confliction.
Everything Ratchet built was coming crashing down and all he could do was weep.

as they arrived to the clinic, she took out her keys from her pocket, unlocked the door and went into vet mode. she gently grabbed the mother cat from hamzah and moved her to the desk to see where she had gotten hurt.
the mother cat had been slightly injured by hamzah’s tires twisting due to the force of him stopping the car. thankfully, the other kittens weren’t hurt and the mother only needed a few stitches. “you seem very dedicated to helping cats.” hamzah scoffed. “very, obviously you aren’t.” she teased raising an eyebrow at him. hamzah rolled his eyes in return.
as she finished her work with the cats she gave hamzah the thumbs up, “what are you gonna do with them now?” he asked. “probably put them back into nature, they obviously aren’t anybody’s.” she sighed taking off her gloves. “oh,” hamzah said looking down. “why? you wanted one of the kittens.” she sneered, hamzah pointed to the one he wanted. the same black cat that she was playing with in the car.
“you sly corny dog.” she said biting her lip. “but actually i’ll have to keep them here overnight just to make sure that there aren’t anything else going on with the family.” she sighed.
as she put them into their crates, she turned and looked to hamzah to let him know they could now leave.
hamzah’s eyes turned darker as soon as she gave that signal to him something abrupted in hamzah, maybe it was the late hour of the night, maybe the slight flirting in the car, or the way she approached him. her aura, her presence was something that was foreign to him but just pulled him in more into who she was.
he grabbed her hand and ran with her to the car, hamzah looked to the sky quickly, ‘there’s still time.’ he said smiling to himself. “what are you smiling about pretty boy?” she asked, “dont you worry about it.” he smirked.
as soon as both of them were in the car, hamzah went towards the toto beach he was originally trying to get to in the start of his trip. as he was driving, he looked to his right and saw her head outside the window. hamzah’s breath was taken away, this beautiful sight of the curaçao local gave him more motivation to get to the beach quicker.
Tumblr media
as hamzah pulled up to the empty parking lot, he ran to open her door. as she was going to walk out she was taken by surprise, her legs had been placed around hamzah’s waist. and her head was gently held onto facing his shoulder.
as he carried her to the beach, she couldn't help but pull out a joint and a the smallest lighter ever. she waited until she was put down to light up the za. “whats that smell?” hamzah asked, oblivious to what she had in her hands. “maria juana,” she said before placing her lips onto his juicy lips. a moan escaped hamzah’s mouth as he was still in shock. he was touch starved for too long, he waited, and waited, just for this special moment.
hamzah gently lay her on her back, she felt the smooth warm sand on her back with also the feeling of hamzah undoing her bikini top. “go faster boy,” she said in a darker tone.
he nodded and proceed to go faster, he threw the bikini topp off and began to kiss her neck, each kiss diving deeper into her sunkissed skin. each kiss getting lower and lower, getting to her naked breasts hamzah didnt stop.
once he appraoced her breasts he began slowly and softly kissing her nipples, her nipples becoming more erectd after every kiss. she grabbed the blunt and lighter once again and lit the blunt. as she took the first hit, hamzah started licking her nipples in circles. loud moans escaped her lips, she couldnt help but place her free hand behind his neck, inching his whole mouth closer to her nipples so he could suck her whole tit. she couldnt help but be impatient, she hadnt felt so much pleasure by someone's actions in so long, she didnt want anymore teasing she wanted this fine stranger with her now!
as the night progressed, the makeout session between the two strangers advanced to them touching all over, and one the two had became high they couldnt get their hands off of eachother. as the sun was making its final appearance on the earth, they both took time off of their nonstop makeout session to look at this priceless moment that is a once in a lifetime opportunity. as they saw the sun finally lower, she passed him the blunt once again, as he was about to take a hit, his phone began to ring.
“hello?” hamzah said in a groggy voice.
“dude! its dark out!” martin yelled on the other side.
hamzah stood up and walked a few feet away to finish his call, he turned around to catch a glance at the stranger, however she was gone.
“you are just as unfamiliar as i am with this island as everyone else! come home bro!” martin said continuing his lecture to hamzah.
“martin i get it. ill be home soon.” hamzah said then hung up the phone.
he was in shock, the girl he had just met had left in just moments. she didnt even leave anything behind, from what he could tell. all that lay from where she laid was a antillean guilder (curaçao currency). as he bent down to grab the paper, on the back read a message.
xxx-xxx-xxxx. pretty boy hamzah, let me know what day youre leaving the island, and where you stayin → pretty gyall
hamzah laughed at how messy her hand writing was, but was grateful not all hope had been lost in this remarkable stranger he met tonight.
before hamzah made his journey back home, he texted her his address and what day he’d be leaving. he was planning on talking to her through text or to try to know more about her but he was already at the point of his high where all he wanted to do was sleep.
later, hamzah arrived back to the rented condo and was met by martin’s disappointment. hamzah shrugged it off and knocked right out on the couch.
the next morning, hamzah was shooken awake by small hands. he slowly opened his eyes and saw the same black kitten from last night, the one that she played with in the car. on the kittens neck was a collar that had a note attached to it.
oh pretty boy, last night was fun but oh how funny time flies when youre having fun. i hoped you enjoyed my island, my home. i decied i wanted to gift you with the kitten you had your eyes on, her name is ‘e ta stima’, it means lover. we may not meet or talk again, but youll always have the kitten as a part of me to look after your corny yet kind soul.  thank you, island gyal.
hamzah couldnt help but be confused about the last part, ‘we wont talk again?’ hamzah asked himself. he opened his phone and tried to text the phone number she had given him last night however as he sent a text his message became green. ‘shit!’ he hissed. hamzah looked at the note once again and the kitten. he felt a tear fall off of his cheek and onto the kittens head. “oh im sorry poor guy,” hamzah chuckled before looking down, “shit, i mean poor girl.” hamzah cleared his throat and laid back down and e ta stima cuddled next to the crook of hamzah’s neck.
“so where’d the black cat come from hamzah?” martin said as he entered hamzah’s apartment to record a video (i know they dont normally record at hamzahs place)
“dont worry about it, lets get started.” hamzah said clearing his throat.

🌊 Whump for mermaids
Fantasy whump ideas no. 3
(Both because it's Mermay and to celebrate finally finishing AP exams. I'm using the word mermaid as gender neutral here.)
Mermaid Whumpee gets caught in nets or garbage. Maybe they got captured, maybe they just got tangled up in something floating around, but either way, they're stuck. It restricts their movement so they sink, pinning their tail against itself. They become more vulnerable to Whumper. They panic and start desperately thrashing, but they can't get out, possibly injuring themselves in the process. The thing they're trapped in can cut them, block circulation, suffocate them, etc. Caretaker tries to free them, but they might end up making it worse.
Continuing with nets, getting captured by sailors and getting pulled up onto their boat. Maybe one of the sailors is kind to them and tries to help, but the others treat them like a prisoner, excited to show off their rare catch when they get to shore. Mermaid Whumpee is mistreated horribly, locked in a tiny crate of stale water, fed nothing but whatever scraps the sailors don't want.
Underwater dangers. Mermaid Whumpee can get bit by a shark, scraped on underwater rocks, stung by venomous jellyfish, and more! Since they can't go onto the land to get help, they're stuck trying to treat themselves in the water. Their hands shake as they try to wrap seaweed around their injuries.
Or, if they somehow do end up getting help on land, medical whump (TW for blood). Caretaker tries their best, but they have no idea how to treat a mermaid. Mermaid Whumpee ends up in a little tub of water with barely enough room to move. Blood leaks through the soggy bandages and stains the water red.
Getting beached or washed up on the rocks, struggling to breathe as they frantically try to scramble back towards the water.
Tanks. They get put in a tank that is much too small and gives them no space to hide, putting them on display for Whumper. Whumper taunts them by getting them one of those little fish houses that is much too small. They try to escape by jumping or climbing out, but soon they find that they can't open the door to the room Whumper is keeping them in, and time is running out.
Scales. Mermaid Whumpee's tail is covered in beautiful scales, which Whumper occasionally plucks out to torture them. Their scales might also make them a target for sailors, other mermaids, etc.
Freezing. Since Mermaid Whumpee is pretty much always in water, it's not super hard to freeze them solid. Maybe someone else accidentally turns them into an ice cube while using some ice-related magic too close to the water, or maybe Whumper freezes them in there on purpose. (Look I just really like cold whump okay.)
Actually, just temperature whump in general. Some types of fish need super specific temperatures and can die if the water is too hot or too cold. Whumper can use this to their advantage, threatening to dial up the heat or drop ice into the water depending on which would hurt Mermaid Whumpee more.
(Feel free to add on! Mermaids are more whumpable than I expected lol.)
