I love working in comms but man if there's one thing I'll never get used to it's the expectation that you will share your personal social media accounts with potential employers to "prove" that you would be good at managing a company's social media, like???
As if managing a corporate social media accounts had anything in common with what people post on their personal accounts??
#i suck at social media from a personal perspective#like i dont like tweeting and posting so i dont have many followers#but i do know how to keep an account active and posting regularly with relevant content in a corporate context#its stupid yall are potentially missing out on plenty of talented people that just dont care about their personal presence online#i hate that this is an expectation and that employers think this is fine#sorry its been bugging me for weeks#this is why im staying in internal comms if i can#lnl

Lots of VC questions recently. Someone emailed about what they should be engaging with to develop their artistic voice. Here's my answer:
In terms of guidance, Werner Herzog, who is admittedly a weirdo, said that the best thing a film student can do is go backpacking cross country, which I would never do. But the point he was ultimately making is that life experience is more important than anything a film school can teach you. Your artistic voice develops more sharply the more intune you are with the world; all the film stuff is superfluous really. So that would be my major advice. Live life! Be open to all sorts of experiences.
Outside of that I would say to read and watch anything and everything you can get your hands on. Especially stuff that has nothing to do with film. Be curious, which is to say non-judgemental. Sitting through stuff that you have no interest in or actively hate is good! It develops your taste in ways that seeking out only what you like can never do. It also expands your horizons and teaches you how much you actually don't know about anything. Keeps you humble. You'll be surprised 5 years on how something that you had no interest in is super relevant to what you're trying to do.
I'll drop some recommendations later but something you are going to run into is paywalls and exorbitant costs. Scihub, Libgen, and PaywallReader can be your friends in this regard. The more niche something is, the less mirrors there are. Investing in an internet audio/video ripper is essential. Rip often and indiscriminately. Nothing is safe unless you triplicate it. And if you can't afford hard drives, dummy alphabet accounts are the next best thing. Also, footnotes and reference lists are treasure troves of breadcrumbs.
The standard VC reading list includes: Reel to Real, The Devil Finds Work, Playing in the Dark, Young British & Black, Ways of Seeing (also a documentary), Orientalism, Film Manifestos and Global Cinema Culture, Questions of Third Cinema, Hollywood & Counter Cinema, Figures Traced in Light, Parallel Tracks, and Basho: The Complete Haiku
Hundreds of films can be found on Solidarity Cinema. Cinema of the World has a deep archive but you need to have space and a nitrofile account to download most films, but you can snipe a few films here and there (or look for them elsewhere). Rarefilmm updates semi-regularly and you can stream the films; they are now more active on twitter and are even taking requests. Some state-sponsored film industries have robust presences on youtube with english subs: Russia's Mosfilm/FUSE Mosfilm, Canada's NFB, the Korean Film Archive, Native People's Media. There's UbuWeb for all your avant-garde needs. There's FIlmmaker's Co-Op (pay-per-view), Paper Tiger Television, and Deep Dish Television for NYC indie stuff. AfroMarxist has a fair amount of political documentaries. NMAHC has an archive that houses the work of Chamba Productions and some of Pearl Bowser's stuff. And of course there's the legendary MikeD of ReelBlack. It's a crap shoot but some filmmakers and/or their estates make work available free online (Leo Hurwitz and Julie Dash come to mind). I'd recommend a Kweli TV subscription for black film, and never be surprised by what you can find on youtube or tubi!
This is probably super overwhelming but the joy of being an autodidact is the thrill of discovery so peruse at your leisurely interest. The internet is your oyster if you know how to use it! Back in my day hardly any of these sites existed and the ones that did weren't as robust as they are now. I've had to frankenstein whole movies from various clips posted in 144p on youtube 😩
I used to do a couple of themed months a year where I'd read and watch as much as possible about a filmmaker, genre, or movement that interested me. I'd spin a globe to learn a little about a random country's cinema. Best of lists/canons don't really mean much but they are good sources of stuff to at least be aware of.

About Me
Hello, everyone!
I'm Xavier, the one running this blog.
I'm in my first year of the Business Administration program at my local community college and plan to go into the accounting stream next year. From there, I am considering taking advantage of the "2+2" program my college has with many universities in the province; I will be able to go to university starting in my third year, so getting my BA will only take two more years. After that, getting my CPA is also something I am considering.
My goals for the next five years are:
Graduate from college with honours. In my college, that is an average of 85% across all courses, with no course being below 80%. So far all of my classes are in the 90's right now, so I'm still safely on track for this.
Get a job that pays enough for me to be able to move out of my parents' house. It's not a toxic environment to live in, but there are definitely issues. Not to mention that I'm in a small-ish town where the job opportunities are very limited, and will almost certainly have to relocate to be able to make any progress in my career.
Get down to 57kg. I know this one isn't as directly related, but it's still an important goal for me. I have a lot of hereditary health issues from both sides of my family to worry about, most of which are exacerbated by being overweight. I'm 160cm tall and used multiple formulas to figure out my target weight (four formulas plus either end of the healthy BMI range gave me six numbers with 57 being the mean, hence why I chose that as my target). In addition to being able to mitigate the potential health risks, exercising regularly has been tied to improved academic performance as well. While the research is limited, and there are many other factors at play as well, my school has a gym, and access is included in the fees I paid, so I have nothing to lose by making use of this resource.
I will admit that I'm not the best at studying, so far as active learning methods go. My instructors post the slides online, so I do a combination of copying those slides after class (I can't write or type quickly enough to do it during class, so I focus on paying attention and participating in discussions instead), reading the textbook chapters ahead of time, and annotating my textbooks. In addition to putting a lot of effort into my assignments, of course.
I work with Pomodoro-esque timing, using the Forest app (one of few apps I have the paid version of, as it was a one-time cost and I did it when I was in high school). 25 minutes of work, five-minute breaks. I just don't keep track of how many I did to get the 15-minute breaks.
My posts are mostly going to be daily reflections. I will likely also include book recommendations, progress updates in challenges that I'm participating in, study tips that I see and decide to reblog (with and without commentary), and anything else that may be relevant.
The daily reflections will be, as expected, daily. Everything else will be queued up to post 6 times a day. Those six queued posts will be every four hours, and the daily reflection will go live a little bit before I go to bed.
Don't be afraid to use asks and messages if you want to get in contact with me! I don't bite, I promise. I don't mind helping people whenever I can, just make sure you make it clear if you want something responded to privately, as I will otherwise opt to publish it for the sake of everyone else. If one person asks a question, odds are someone else has the same question and is just too afraid to ask.
I also love it when people interact with my posts! Feel free to reblog and comment, I will do my best to get back to as much as possible. However, I won't tolerate harassment or hate speech of any kind, and violations of this policy will be dealt with accordingly.
Finally, as a side note, I do have tips enabled because I'm unemployed and living off of student loan money. I can cover day-to-day expenses, but the tips would help me with some minor quality-of-life things that I want to get. They're completely optional, and not something I need, but it's impossible to deny that they're also nice motivators.

Pokepreciation/Pokeganda Overview
Hullo all! Mun Donut here.
There’s been a recent influx of people joining the Pokemon apprecation/Pokemon propaganda community and uhm. First of all as someone who was active at the height of this small subcommunity I’d like to say that seeing it starting to come back up again is AWESOME (I currently follow quite a few, but I’ve only seen a handful of propaganda blogs post semi-regularly)
I hope this doesn’t come across as pretentious or anything, but I think it would be nice to inform people of the origins of the subcommunity (at least, to my knowledge. I stay away from drama so there’s probably a few things I don’t know about)
Where did it come from?
Awhile back, a twitter user created an account that that went along the lines of a pokemon name + “propaganda”. They dedicated the account to anything and everything about the pokemon- basically spreading love for it (not unlike what we do today). I’m keeping the name private for reasons you’ll see later.
Eventually, this trend spread to tumblr and a small community formed, with users making accounts dedicated to loving their own pokemon.
The trend later began to encompass poketrainers as well, which is where I come in. Trainerganda blogs generally followed the same vein as Pokeganda blogs, though roleplaying wasn’t uncommon among these blogs (some preferred to simply curate content of their favourite characters, though. It just boiled down to how an individual wanted to run their blog)
What do you do as an Appreciation/Propaganda account?
Anything you want, really! The only thing you need to become one is to add appreciation/propaganda to the end of your url.
Along with reblogging relevant content, I’ve seen people form something similar to an ask blog and roleplay with these accounts (I do all three!). Though, for those people new in the community there really isn’t a “wrong” way to run a pokeprecation/pokeganda blog. Just do whatever suits you best 😊.
Why is it PokePreciation or PokeGanda?
Hooh boy. I’ll keep this one short since it involves some controversy.
Back in 2020, the creator of the trend came under fire for saying some pretty racist things. As a result, some members of the community decided to switch their URLs from “propaganda” to “appreciation” to detach themselves from the original creator. Some people kept the propaganda url, but that doesn’t mean they don’t agree with the beliefs of the original. And honestly, I do still think the propaganda url is kinda cool.
I was one of the people who changed my url back then, though, which is why I’m named the way I am today!
-
And um, yeah! That’s all I have haha. Donut out :>
#perhaps the trend originated from another fandom but i don't know enough about it to say anything haha#i ended up making a pokeganda discord server back in 2019 haha it was a willllld ride#so many people joined. and we had a fair bit of drama in there#it was really fun seeing people so excited over pokemon characters haha. I wish the community was a lil more active#but it's still fine! :> we've moved on to greater things. and we're still growing anyhow- ehe#mun rambles#i am rushing if i forget to say anything or word things weirdly lmk#not emmet

lol I don't want to bother you with Academia(tm) questions but if you are open to answering, how important/valuable/whatever is it to do the social media thing in academia? I'm not SURE i'm going to go that route but since I'm in my PhD i'm wondering if I should do the whole twitter thing and everything 😅
Aha, first off, I am ALWAYS open for Academia TM questions. We have all chosen (for some bewildering reason) to be in this stupid, stupid boat together, so the least we can do is help each other out.
As for the social media/Twitter question: I have done two graduate degrees, postgraduate faculty, postdoc period, and now am about to start first-real-post-PhD job without ever having once set foot on Twitter, except to lurk and keep tabs on a few news accounts. (Once or twice I lost my mind and briefly considered actually posting, but fortunately I sat down until the thought went away.) With the bird app now becoming run by Elon Fucking Musk and therefore on the brink of turning even more hellish, you will have to decide for yourself if that is something you want to be part of. Academic Twitter can be a lot of fun, and there are definitely valuable networking opportunities to be found there. But it is also, well, Twitter.
I feel as if the best option is to make a friend who is active on Academic Twitter and thus will send you things relevant to your interests, without you having to be there yourself. (My Designated Academic Twitter Friend is @oldshrewsburyian, bless her heart.) But that depends on what you want to do and how important you feel it is to actively communicate and correspond, and it is definitely something I could have looked into if I wasn't so pathologically averse to Twitter. Again, there are absolutely benefits and informal networks to be made, and since academia is all about nepotism and who you know, it is worth at least checking out.
My academic social media use is actually mostly on Facebook, which is about the only thing I use Facebook for as I likewise loathe it with the strength of a thousand fiery suns. But there are dedicated academic jobs groups, teacher groups, university alum groups, etc, which I am all subscribed to and which regularly post job openings and general questions and calls for papers. I likewise mainly lurk instead of participating, but there is the option to do so, and it is an easy and low-effort way to stay informed on conferences, job opportunities, new publications, etc in your field. I don't know what your PhD is in (mine is history, in case it was not obvious) so that might vary slightly, but I imagine it's easy to find for most disciplines.
Anyway, I hope that was helpful, and good luck to you! I remember that struggle Well.

yandere!ateez as fanboys
Hongjoong:
The moment he hears one song from your latest album, it immediately swept him off his feet from the ground and made the decision to stan you. You are his favorite soloist. The moment he hears your latest comeback album, he immediately listened to all your other songs and made his research about you that night. Of course, the caffeine boosting him.
He made a lot of social media accounts just to follow you. Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, you name it. He would follow your every move and post. But is still didn’t feel the same. To Hongjoong, he felt like he was still missing a large chunk of your life and he didn’t want that. The next night, he pulled a couple of strings and ta dah! had access to your very personal information. And he felt so complete afterwards.
To you, Hongjoong was just one of your few male fans that you adore. I mean, the guy makes covers of your songs. And part of you agreed that when he made his own remix of your songs, it would sound 10000% better than the original. However, you just didn’t noticed the subliminal messages and tones he inserted in his remixes.
Seonghwa:
Seonghwa was one of those rare male fansites you have. Being in a 7 member girl group called Starlight, you are the group’s visual, main dancer, lead vocalist, center and face of the group. Once your group made its debut, fame automatically found you.
Endorsements here and there, landing yourself in various commercial films and even coming to be a guest of variety shows. Your popularity instantly swept off and in a blink of an eye, the whole of South Korea knew your name. And your name tasted delicious in HwaLight_Y/N. Seonghwa’s fansite name dedicated to you. He thought of a name that would connect him to you. Hwa meaning star, replacing the english word and thus the birth of the fansite name.
With his good looks, he too became known amongst the fans. He was known as your handsome fansite master. And since he was one of the rare male fansites you have, you would immediately recognize him from afar. Smiling at his camera and waving at him. Much to Seonghwa’s delight, he felt like there was already a deep connection between you two. And he wanted more of that.
He started coming to your unofficial group activities. Slippiing his way inside the venue just to be able to feel your presence a few feet from him. He started purchasing flight and hotel information from other “fans” and would purchase the seat closest to you or the room nearest yours.
Didn’t noticed those red beaming lights hidden inside your hotel room when you’re changing clothes or taking a shower? Click click! Or you were dead asleep tired from rehearsals when someone barged into your room? Click click! Ever noticed how your favorite red lace underwear went missing only to come back with a stain? Click click!
Yunho:
At first, he wasn’t entirely dazzled by you. Yunho was just a regular idol manager who would follow you into your every activities and schedules. He needed the money, plus, companies like him for his tall and muscular physique. The kind of person that can ward off creepy or scary fans that tried to get close to you.
You, on the other hand, is an ex member of your former girl group but found fame as a solo artist. Your debut song swept the charts and immediately won every single music show chart. Topping music chart billboards in every country. Despite all the glitz and glamor that followed you, you felt lonely and desperate for human touch.
It wasn’t supposed to be how Yunho, naked and in between your legs. How such alcohol can make you two do things that violates his contract with you. One night was all it takes for him to see a completely different side of you. And he wanted more of that.
Yunho became more protective towards you. Becoming more aggressive to anyone who dares lay a hand on you. Even going as far as sleeping in one bed with you as he thinks “its completely necessary, who know, someone might be barging into your room in the middle of the night?” You can never get away from him. Companies like him, remember? With his clean records, your company would do anything to keep him signed with you.
Yeosang:
Channel YNbyYS is a youtube channel run by Yeosang. It’s the platform wherein he posts his dance covers to your group’s songs. With a bit of his dancing elements and the original choreography of your group, the blend came out much nicer than what everyone expected. His heart leaped more at the idea of you endorsing a chicken brand. From that day forward, he became a regular of the certain chicken brand nearest to him.
Yeosang may seem like a complete innocent and harmless fanboy. But do you ever what he is behind his dance covering youtube channel? Why, he is the second most influential person in your company. The son of your own CEO. He had his very own place within the company. And he uses it to the extent of getting closer to you.
The gifts that came into your company? Those are ALL Yeosang’s gifts for you. From the dresses to the shoes. He shamelessly threw away other gifts’ that were for you because according to him “he is the only relevant and special person that can offer you gifts”. Anything else is directly to the bin.
And you wonder how your “fans” know your taste in fashion.
Mingi:
Mingi, before being blacklisted by your company, was just a regular fanboy of your group. You were the group’s main rapper and the lyrics to your bars spoke volumes to him. He was just casually listening to your verses and mixtapes until one day, he realized that he wanted to be more than just your fanboy.
It started slowly when he would attend your group’s fansigns and even follow you towards the airport. But the bodyguards prevented him from coming anymore closer to you. And so he did the unthinkable. Knocking down a bodyguard that was shielding you and enveloping you in his arms. His heartbeat raced and he felt a second heartbeat between his pants. With you in his arms, he only realized how petite yet handful you are. Hands running all over your body, burying his nose in your hair inhaling that soft and sweet strawberry shampoo that you use.
Despite being blacklisted, he never cared about going public and meeting you at your group or individual activities. Instead, he resorted to barging into your dorm. Whether you’re home or not.
San:
You are your group’s maknae and visual. Dubbed as Korea’s IT Girl, your face can be found anywhere in Seoul. From commercial films to leading Korean dramas, releasing your own solo album and attending fashion weeks, you are always the talk of the town. Whenever your name comes up, its always met with praises. Of course, the people loves you! You are a crowd and fan favorite.
And you had managed to capture the eyes and heart of San. Calling himself as your number 1 fan. He was never absent in any of your activities. Getting front row seats in your concerts, being present at your variety shows and even buying products that you endorse - soju, cosmetics, literally anything.
To your fans, he is the biggest fanboy you ever had. And it was quite entertaining to watch him profess his love to you. You even chuckled a few of his pick up lines that he threw at you during your fansigns. When asked if you had anything memorable that a fan ever did to you, the answer would always be San.
Behind closed doors, San kept a dirty secret. Remember how he always gets front row seats to your concerts? He hid a camera in his clothes to film your upskirt. Beating his meat every night to his own collection of your tight and revealing clothing. Remember how you would endorse anything? He’d buy it and imagine how ripping it off your body feels like. His greatest possession? Your black lingerie. Too bad, you’re never getting it back.
Wooyoung:
ForYN is a website account run by Wooyoung. He regularly updates his content - from posting your pictures that are uploaded today, to your daily activities, the products you use and a little sub website from his channel wherein he writes poems and graphical fanfiction of himself with you. But of course no one would ever read between the lines. The way how Wooyoung would write would be so poetical and endearing that it? doesn’t? have? any? hidden? meaning?
He only came once to your fansign and gave you a pink teddybear. It wasn’t the best gift you owned but you liked it somehow. There was something about the teddybear that you didn’t know why you’re into it. Its just a plain gift but everytime you look at it, its as if you’re drawn to it.
Maybe becuase you didn’t noticed how it has camera eyes?
Wooyoung’s love for you deepened when he caught you humping on the pink teddybear. Cum splattering all over its face. It was just one gift, but it was everything to you.
And Wooyoung’s working on the next entry for his fanfiction.
Jongho:
For today, you were having your own vlive. Doing what you called a YN mukbang. As the convenient food store you bought was placed on the table, you began to greet yours fans, asking them how they are feeling before digging in your food. Among the hundreds and thousands of viewers, Jongho was one of them.
He was engrossed in two things: one, how adorable and beautiful you look despite just eating. Second, the rude comments that were popping up in your live video. Rude remarks of body shaming were what caught his attention. He took his time digging deeper into someone else’s username and IP address. Once he got a hold of their information, he would report those comments and head out. In his disguise while hunting the people who made disguisting remarks at you. No one should ever make such remarks to a goddess.

All credit goes to @2pretty, all the info on the dream girl guide concept & original post are here!
My dream girl is...
someone with a rewarding and stimulating career that fits her expertise and skills. She has successfully completed her degree. Her career is a big part of her life because it's closely connected to her own interests. She's embedded in a network of interesting, diverse professionals, who include her in cool projects and collabs.
someone who strives to conduct her life in a way that is consistent with her principles. She has found a way to be an activist in a very hands-on manner, doing her part. She follows current events through independent, in-depth media (rather than social media or daily news outlets).
someone who is financially independent. She knows exactly where her money is and has no debt. She is able to both save and donate money every month.
someone who structures her time in a way that takes into account both her responsibilities and her needs. She spends time with her close friends and family members and nurtures these relationships. She fulfills her obligations on time and with a minimal amount of stress. She knows how to gracefully say no to requests. She makes sure to have a lot of time to rest and recharge every week.
someone who looks elegant and a bit whimsical. She spends a minimal but consistent amount of time and effort on her appearance. Her environment is cosy, somewhere between a countryside manor and a cottage, with extra comfort and shiny trinkets.
someone who takes care of her health and her body. She incorporates gentle physical activity, great hydration and delicious, heavily plant-based cooking in her everyday life. She avoids anything that exhausts and hurts her body. She has a resistant, strong body that allows her to do what's important to her, whether it is helping friends move or carrying a child on her back.
someone who makes room for delightful and absolutely non-productive activities in her life. She enjoys opera, botany, food, museums, cultural history, travels across her country and Europe. She happily remains an amateur, with no attempt to become an expert or capitalise on her interests.

With that in mind, and a new month starting tomorrow, let’s go <3

hey man, so i've been wanting to start taking art commissions, but i have no clue where to start or how to advertise for myself or anything like that. do u got any tips u can lend 2 a newbie?
HMM!!! A COMPLEX ASK i will do my best to keep my answer concise! my first disclaimer is that my PayPal account is a business account, and I don't know how a personal account is different or if it lacks any of the features! my second disclaimer is that this stuff is hard and i'm constantly adjusting my own methods around organization and pricing! READ ON
For starting out, it's good if you have a fairly active following (amount of followers doesn't really matter, as long as a handful of folks are willing to engage with your posts and share them) - you can bring up your interest in taking on commissions, and see what the immediate interest is in your circle, and plan from there.
I got a lot of my following from DA fanart, and that helped when I first started. Most of my commissions starting out were portraits of Dragon Age OCs!! So it can be helpful for the advertising/awareness side of things if you have a small niche to fill!
For your first time taking commissions I would recommend sticking to what is most comfortable for you to draw. A limited selection (for example, only portraits with some colour or line options) is less overwhelming for someone to look at and choose from, and it helps to manage your own expectations of the workload. Put an emphasis on fun style stuff or techniques you enjoy using!!
Offer what you know you can reasonably do and feel proud of! And don't be shy charging more for things like backgrounds or things outside of your comfort zone, if a request for one comes up.
PLEASE go wild with all the relevant tags when you post your information! Commissions, commission info, character commissions, character art, art commissions, fantasy, portrait, fullbody, GO NUTS! its helpful to cover everything in the post if you're worried about your reach!
as well, you can link your commission information in the captions of your other art posts. It makes it a bit more accessible and obvious that you're open for commission work! AND DONT BE SHY TO SELF-REBLOG!! and if you have multiple social media accounts, share you information on all the ones you're active on.
it also helps to spend some time making your information and examples look neat. I Am Not A Graphic Designer so this part takes me hours/days because I'm picky, but I try to keep in mind things like legibility and eye strain and lay out my information in as accessible a way as possible. Also its fun to play with fonts
I still struggle with undercharging on my work, so I think a good way to consider your pricing is to think of what you would be willing to pay someone else for a similar amount of work. Nothing should be single digits. On your invoices, allow the option for customers to tip you. If you're just starting out and your prices are low out of self consciousness or uncertainty, someone who's excited to work with you or who enjoys your style may surprise you with a very generous tip!!! Tips in the past have helped me reevaluate my rates!! If you're a commissioner who regularly tips I'm kissing you on the forehead so so sweetly
PayPal does take a % and fee on every invoice BUT for archiving and organization its great. I would recommend looking up PayPal invoice tutorials for digital artists, and writing up a simple Terms of Service you can post with your commission info and attach to your invoices. (The TOS basically serves to say what people can or can't do with the art they buy from you, whether or not you do refunds, what the turnaround time is per commission, etc. the Professional Stuff)
um. umm other than that. Try out spreadsheets or other types of organization to keep track of contact information, $ amount, type of commission, etc!!! it's nice to be able to look back at what you've done in a more data-oriented way than just the images alone!

Practical advice if you want to start a podcast
I wrote a post for the RED team at La Trobe with some general advice for podcasting, but I’ve found there are some recurring questions that I get about setting up a podcast. This post is here to answer those questions.
If you’re not interested in starting a podcast, but want to listen to more linguistics podcasts, I’ve got a list for you!
I last updated this post in June 2021 - if you find this post a few years after this you might want to search for some more up to date specs. I’ll continue to update this from time to time as new questions (or answers) come up.
Picture your audience
Before you make any decisions about your show, know who it is for. Your topic might be incredibly niche and have an audience in the hundreds, which is very different to a potentially larger but less engaged audience. See the classic blog post from Kevin Kelly on the power of 1000 true fans. Knowing your potential audience, where they hang out online, and how they’re likely to support you, will help your decision making. I have a self-guided slide set for refining your project before you start working on it. It’s also ok to know who you don’t want as your audience, and make choices that don’t actively include them. Do this early and clearly so people aren’t disappointed. For example, having a show with clearly noted explicit language selects away from young kids and their parents.
The length and format of your show are a product of your aims
I personally like shows in the 25-35 minute range. But, having said that, I love Shortwave, which regularly clocks in at 10 minutes, and I’m disappointed when an episode of You’re Wrong About is less than an hour.
Know your audience and the level of depth you want to explore a topic in. The frequency of episodes and the amount of time you have to prepare and edit will also affect how long episode end up. Record a few episodes first and share them with people you trust will give you good feedback.
The best interviews are conversations
Good interviews are just conversations that are intentionally lopsided, and good interviewers make the conversation feel like it’s not lopsided. Do your homework, write out some questions, and then take a step back and actually listen to the person you’re interviewing.
Anyone who has done even a few interviews has already faced most of the questions you first think of. There are some fixes for this: push through your initial brainstorming, think about the specific angles on their topic that are most relevant to your audience and (again) listen to what the person is telling you. Like many podcasting skills, good interviewing takes practice, and you can practice by staying curious about humans you interact with in any area of your life, not just your podcast guests.
Use the best mics you can, but don’t over-invest
You don’t have go and buy the fanciest tech. If you have access to a studio, great! If you don’t, then decide what your budget is. When we started Lingthusiasm, Gretchen recorded into her phone, because we were running the show on no budget and had no idea if we’d stick it out more than 6 months. When we started making money we got Gretchen a Zoom H4n to match mine. It’s still not the fanciest, but it’s rugged and adequate, especially if you make sure you’re in a closet with some blankets. Do I regret the earlier episodes of Lingthusiasm don’t sound amazing? Not as much as I would have regretted investing hundreds of dollars in a podcast that had 4 episodes.
Edit your show
Even a light edit will make the show easier for your audience to listen to, and show respect for the people you interview. I know people believe there’s an aesthetic of authenticity that comes with not editing, but all podcasting is a performance. Editing is a politeness to your audience.
Editing means a very wide range of things. You can do full production editing, including the addition of music, multiple different voice-overs and voices reading parts (e.g. getting someone else to read author quotes to bring them to life) and additional sound effects. Or you might just edit out the start and end of the recording, and any false starts and errors throughout the show. A lot of the pauses and fillers we use in conversation are designed for an audience who is in on the conversation and can reply, and can feel like they’re holding up a conversation when you’re a passive listener like a podcast audience. Many of the best conversational podcasts are given an edit to make them easier on the ears.
I use audacity to edit
Audacity is free to use. It takes a little longer to learn than something like GarageBand, but once you know how to use it, you’ll be much faster at editing. I appreciate that it has stayed pretty much the same since I started using it almost 15 years ago.
Get your levels right
Once you’ve edited your show, making sure there aren’t too many loud laughs, or your two hosts aren’t unbalanced in loudness. You’ll also need to make sure your podcast isn’t too loud or soft compared to others in people’s list. You need to regularise it. A lot of podcasts regularise to -16 LUFS. A few other numbers bounce around (-14, -18), but this is what we use and no one complains. Audacity can’t do it. You can process a certain number of hours of audio for free each month using the web-based Auphonic. It’s great.
There’s lots of great free music to use
You want to look for music that has a license that’s free to use. Even if you don’t plan to make money from your podcast, make sure the license includes commercial use so you don’t limit your future options. SoundCloud and YouTube have lots of options, as does Kevin MacLeod - who has created royalty-free music in a massive range of genres.
Web hosting is different to getting your show on iTunes
We use SoundCloud to upload and share our audio. It’s fine. I have no complaints. Once you’ve uploaded a few hours of audio you’ll have to pay annually for a pro account. Anchor seems to be a good new competitor, it’s free - I assume they make money off people choosing to run ads on their podcasts. You then generate an RSS feed, which is the thing that points all the podcast players to the place you’ve uploaded your recording. You’ll then have to add your show to major podcast platforms (Apple Podcast, Google Podcast), smaller ones will pick it up from there.
It takes a few days for your show to get picked up on all the podfeeders
Launching a podcast is a bit of a mess - it will go live on your hosting site but then you’ll have to set yourself up with iTunes, Google Podcast etc. and that can take a few days to update and populate. The sites that are popular, and the process of linking into those spaces, changes often enough that you should just google advice when you’re ready to launch, and give yourself a few days. This is part of why some podcasts launch a short ‘episode 0′ or a trailer, it gets the show set up.
Transcripts should be one of the first things you fund
Not every podcast has the time or funds to make transcripts. I do think they’re important though; for people who can’t or don’t want to listen, for discoverability and for your own record when you can’t remember when you talked about a specific story. If you have any time or money and want to be taken seriously at all, this should be one of your earliest priorities. This is even more true for educational podcasts, where a transcript ensures all students can appreciate the content of your show.
You don’t neeeeed a website, but it’s handy
You can run a show using a hosting platform and some social media. Having a website does allow you to add more information about the show and yourself. The Lingthusiasm page has grown over the years as the show has; we made a page for our liveshow events, we provide a list of episodes by topic, information about our Discord community, and our marvelous wall of supporters. The website was much more minimal when we started, but compared to just having a SoundCloud it gave the show room to grow.
You probably want socials, but be selective
You need to make your podcast discoverable by people who are likely to be your audience. Social media is one way to do this, but it’s better to be actually engaging on fewer social platforms than overextend yourself. Focus on platforms that are the intersection of where your possible fans are likely to be and where you enjoy being.
Funding a podcast takes time, and takes work
There are three main revenue streams for podcasts: advertising, crowdfunding and merch. A fourth option is institutional support (through your university or business), but then you’re beholden to the funder. Whichever revenue options work for you, think about them and plan towards them early. Part of that is making sure your podcast gets in as many ears as possible. Most successful podcasts spend as much, if not more, time on marketing, audience engagement and business planning as they do podcasting (it’s just not very glamorous to admit that!).
Choose whether each episode can stand alone
Some podcasts build a narrative over multiple episodes. Others allow listeners to jump in at any point and listen in any order. Whatever you choose, make this clear to your audience. This choice is going to influence a range of choices around what information to include in the opening and closing, how topical to make the show, and how you promote your podcast.
Seasons are a great structure to keep a podcast manageable
Regardless of whether your show runs in a sequence, planning a season with a fixed number of episodes allows you to take some time off, to maybe change some things that weren’t working, or to step away from the project with a podcast that hasn’t been left hanging.

I just realized how helpful reposting things is because @ariendiel posted screenshots of twitter threads that I couldn’t read in their entirety because I didn’t have a twitter account. And I realized that the Fusebox glassdoor reviews are also behind a ‘make an account’ screen, so maybe not everyone can see them.
So here are all the Glassdoor reviews for Fusebox Games

Title: Great people, company is indeed in the process to transform and that upsets some who got used to way things used to be.
Pros
People are great! I worked before in big companies with terrible culture and know what bad is. Salaries are matching the industry and have recently been increased quite a bit. The game, even though old and people are bored, is the leader in its genre. Very flexible working, half day Friday.
Cons
The company is rebranding and changing course and that is upsetting some who want things to be as they used to be. I think they need to understand that game companies need to make money if they want a job. So…I wouldn’t listen to all this people complaining. Come and join, now there opportunities for people to advance as old people leave and help us all shape a new future us all.

Title: A company killed by managers
Pros
None now, but the workers are amazing human beings. They are being pushed out one by one by upper management.
Cons
Upper managers have set the company towards failure. They stonewalled any attempt at bettering the production process, giving teams more structure and improving the tools, and now are set on the path of outsourcing everything to external partners, while they reap the benefits by owning the IPs. This company had some of the best workforce culture I have ever seen, but the CEO, together with current managers, have sacked key workers and managers that were fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. They replaced these with corporate behaviour and a complicit newly hired HR department, using the bad financial position the company was in (and for which their decisions and actions were completely at fault for) as an excuse to force workers who wanted to better things out of the door.

Title: Proceed with caution
Pros
Flexible hours Work from home Fair pay rises recently introduced
Cons
Extremely poor communication from the Senior Management. The team often don’t know what’s going on with decisions made in a haphazard way. There’s a rapid ‘hire and fire’ mentality - members of the team ‘disappear’ suddenly and without logic when it appears that their ‘face doesn’t fit’ or expressed an opinion to the top level of management that they didn’t want to hear. Hiring is random - ‘friends’ and ‘friends of friends’ get hired rather than those with suitable qualifications and experience. Bullying exists here and if reported you might be asked to leave rather than the complaint being dealt with properly.

Title: Toxic place full of wonderful people
Pros
Fusebox is a company full of wonderful, caring and talented people that will make you feel at home.
Cons
Management doesn't care about employees and their opinion/feedback. Redundancies happen out of the blue and without clarity of reasons. False values get sponsored as a honey trap. There is no structure in most of the departments, no clear career path and people get squeezed until they have a breakdown.

Title: Helmless ship -- with the best worker crew you will ever interact with
Pros
Genuinely the greatest workers you may ever have as colleagues. The workers are fun, helpful, energetic, passionate, skillful, witty and an incredibly friendly fellowship.
Cons
Management, or lack thereof. Driven by pseudo-corporatocracy: those who are quite happy scapegoating or throwing capable colleagues under the bus to distract from their own mistakes.

Title: A Blowing Fuse
Pros
- Very diverse, inclusive, friendly and respectful workforce.
- Good work-life balance, very understanding of needing personal time and generous with it, including for physical and mental health matters.
- Good benefits (occasional Fridays afternoons off, duvet days, training time and budget, private healthcare...), good salaries (much improved from a few years ago, although there might still be discrepancies between the teams).
- Promotions happen regularly, either to higher seniority levels or to different departments, which is nice, but can also be a con (see below).
- Give chances to graduates/people looking for new roles (which can be a con, see below).
Cons
In summary: most of the management and staff is either incompetent, indecisive or not listened to, which makes the development of current and new games nigh impossible and the atmosphere increasingly negative. The management is attempting to make things better, but so far they have not actively listening and communicating with their workforce, and don’t seem to care much about them since they arbitrarily lay-off competent and appreciated employees.
- Indecisive and disorganised management, leading to slow or frozen project development, especially for new projects.
- The staff is not listened to; upper management makes decisions without consulting their teams, even the leads. Leads are often as clueless as their teams, if not more, about what is happening in the company.
- No creative direction/vision owner, no one seems to know what to do nor how to do it.
- Huge tech debt, the Unity project of the live game is almost unusable.
- Upper management does not understand how games are made, therefore can't provide the development teams with what they need.
- Somewhat exploitative towards junior staff, hiring straight from uni without proper mentoring/management; they abuse from their lack of experience and expect them to do all the work without any manager properly helping them, and/or expect them to do multiple jobs at once. There's a fine line between encouraging graduate/junior hiring, and hiring graduates because they're cheap and won't speak up because they have no other experience.
- Seniority is not always representative of the industry level, junior staff is sometimes being misled into thinking their skills and workflow are at industry level, because they get promoted without proper mentoring.
- Repeatedly make empty promises for years on, keep the staff motivated by promising new game development but it never happens, go back on their words, say everything and their opposite whenever it suits them.
- Mislead on hiring about what the role will be or can't always deliver on it; don't provide adequate support to get the job done or don’t give them the opportunity to do the work they were hired to do, don't understand game development workflows. - Poor communication across the different departments, there is no or very little aligment between the teams, teams often discover other teams have done work relevant to them long after the fact.
- The teams are not treated equally, some are treated as better than the others (which leads to very different experiences of the company between teams). The upper management does not understand the real impact each team has in the making of a good game.
- Sharing publicly feedback and questions with teammates and managers is reprehensible, many of the staff and managers can't take criticism; they say they want to improve that but they don’t put their money where their mouth is, the company communications are out of touch if not dishonest.
- Used to pride themselves on inclusivity but removed it from their values, and the teams are forbidden from making the game stories as inclusive as they want to; there are concerns of homophobia/transphobia with the product direction despite a good part of the company being queer. There is also a history of sexual harassment from higher-up.
- Office culture used to be good but company reorg led to a colder, impersonal communication with the staff. Live, honest communication is discouraged (even if they say they do want it).
- HRs don’t have genuine talks with the staff, leading to a feeling of hypocrisy and disconnect between the company’s values and what the staff really wants.

Title: Management do not know how to make games at all
Pros
Decent pay, lots of benefits, decent office, remote work if you need it
Cons
They do not care about their workers, full of people who don't know what it actually takes to make games, repeatedly lie to and ignore their employees' concerns, then blame those same workers when things go wrong, full of yes men and ideas people and led by people from outside the industry who have no idea what they are doing, avoid at all costs

Title: Loved every minute, fantastic company to work for
Pros
Fun, relaxed environment and culture.
Fantastic team. Everyone is so friendly, approachable and easy to talk to, including management. We had some great laughs. You'll make friends for life here.
Beautiful new office in a handy location, although the company has almost outgrown it already within just a few months.
I really enjoyed the work. The role is something I enjoy anyway, but the projects are a lot of fun and it's so satisfying seeing the fruits of your labours coming to life.
Management has been ramping up efforts to be attentive, respond to and act on employee feedback and concerns as the company grows.
The company's in a pretty good place, so job security is good (considering the industry's reputation). Fusebox ain't goin' nowhere. It's a particularly good place to get your start in the industry.
This studio doesn't believe in crunch/unpaid overtime, which is... pretty rare. Management is dedicated to ensuring that Fusebox is as positive and non-exploitative a company as possible; for example, they take a great, understanding attitude to things like mental health. I always felt like I could talk to them.
Overall, I had a brilliant experience at Fusebox and would 100% have stayed if I hadn't been offered something career-changing, which in itself would not have happened without the experience I got from this studio. Particularly for narrative designers, this role provides fantastic opportunities to develop your branching narrative skills. I've never written such a positive review for a former employer in my life and I would definitely work there again.
Cons
Lacking process and structure in some areas, though I believe this is something the company is actively working on tackling and it's definitely just a teething issue given the company's rapid growth.
The pay is about average/maybe slightly on the lower end, but it's technically a startup, so...
It's gradually growing slightly cliquey as the company grows, which is unfortunate but also to be expected, and everyone is still perfectly friendly and nice. Again, I believe management has been taking steps to mitigate this as much as possible, for example by introducing Slack integrations to encourage people to get lunch together at the same time rather than just in their friendship groups.
Opportunities for upward/sideways career movement need improving/illuminating, especially for teams like integration.

Social Media Anon Here!
Firstly, never change Grumpy ;) you are probably the only person on Tumblr to LISTEN to another view and let it change a prejudice.
Secondly, the Padagram/Social Media change bus continues. Don't be fooled people will be looking at positive and negative reactions to that change on social media.
So here goes!
1. They are starting to market season 2 of Walker in Hiatus. That really doesn't happen. That means they know they need to target new viewers. They are acknowledging they have a problem. The main problem is Jared either didn't learn enough about production quality on SPN (Jensen/Misha were both more interested in behind the camera's) or that he thought he could stick a Stetson on and we all had such sh1t for brains we'd watch anything. So they need a viewer boost DESPARATELY and are going all out to (a) persuade Walkers remaining viewer(s) that it's worth sticking around and (b) get back old viewers or convert 1m+ viewers to season 2. So now we see all the cast (and Keegan has more followers than Jared and Lindsay has a VERY engaged following) trying to persuade their followers how fabulous Walker is. Expect this scrabbling to continue if they want their COVID paychecks.
2. Connected to 1, Jared has started trying to break out of the fandom bubble. I don't think he's trying for power couple (the clue in a power couple is that two FAMOUS people get together and create a super brand, here we have one niche C famous guy and a hanger on wife), I think we are in Jared profile raising and trying to raise his recognition score, which is probably a little low having half assed it in the last year and a half. He's doing it by scatter-gunning so I'm not sure it's going to stick.
3. Connected to 2,
(i) if I run my algorithm clean laptop with a "Jared Padalecki" news search, I get (a) a daily mail article on Jared "clarifying the rift" (b) a "hello" magazine saying he's been "inundated with support after death of "family member"" (c) the new york times article on Walker and Supernatural. It then goes into a variety of articles about Jared raising money for Holly's family (fucking atrocious in my view to use her death for publicity) and a series of derivative articles on his mantrum and later explanation. ONLY THE NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE MENTIONS WALKER other than as a throw away, all of the others link to Supernatural only. Walker isn't on the main radar of anyone as a show. It's not mainstream enough to mention. it has ZERO buzz.
(ii) if I run the same search on my compromised tablet, I get a SEA of fluff articles "jared padalecki goes to venice", "jared padalecki's wife wishes him a happy birthday" "jared padalecki goes to watch soccer" "jared padalecki goes to the wrestling". I'm expecting "Jared Padalecki defecates regularly" tomorrow.
At the end of that I get the same articles as in (i) but the majority of his publicity is still going through the fandom and the, not very viewed, endless zine type websites that update on every episode of every geek show every day.
So we are seeing, and I expect it to continue, a break out Padalecki, (who knows he and his forehead may wish to have a final crack at films), and a fluff Padalecki, trying to stay relevant a year after SPN relevance ended, because he hasn't got the same push for season 2 of Walker as he had for season 1 and Walker has zero presence. No one, not even the fans are talking about Walker.
Will it work? I don't think so. Keegan has 7m followers on Insta and that's because he's a photographer and writer and it's interesting. I would follow his account (I don't), but certainly it isn't a Walker instagram.
Jared is a clever guy, but he's boring on social media. He has a limited appeal. He does family snaps, hunk snaps, flogs orange pee and flogs his show. He says "family" and "mantra" a lot but that's really it. The clue is, if you didn't know who he was and came across his instagram you wouldn't follow him. Why would you? For a video of a guy running up steps? A smug picture of two middle aged men trying to flog you something?... (oh and lots of "brother" comments on Keegan's social media, which is irritating. It's like he thinks that is his repeatable formula and it isn't).
His media approach won't work because advertising and exposure pushes a product. In TV's case, it's not a one off product and there is a lot of competition. Product Jared needs to be more interesting (his mantrum's are the only exciting thing about him - and that is tragic) and his TV show just needs to be BETTER, well, a LOT BETTER.
Soooo, expect the Padapush to continue, but it's not about a couple, it's about individual marketing and for Jared breaking out of SPN bubble. For Gen, it's her tag along profile that she'll never break out of. She'll have to be satisfied with her superpower of being able to persuade people to buy toothbrush's and dog food (if she can).
Expect though the couple's bit to die off a little. Jared is getting over exposed. His engagement rating is plummeting (nearly 3% is a plummet) because of the repetitive photo content. He'll have to back off or people will switch off (I have already). What makes me laugh is.... from the dawn of time when cavemen took their wives 2 miles away for a new cave weekend.... NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN INTERESTED IN SOMEONE ELSE'S HOLIDAY SNAPS.... Gen and Jared apparently need to learn that lesson...
I might stop these posts now because, well, it's gotta be a bit boring for you and I write LONG. :)
Stay safe and wear your masks ;) xxx
I don’t want you to ever ever change, lovely! Also, I’m NEVER bored by your messages! You put so much effort into the research you do and the messages you send and it’s appreciated! <3
I started following Lindsey on IG because she seems pretty genuine, and her cat is way too cute! Plus, I like her attitude. I haven’t followed her for the whole Walker season, but even she doesn’t post a lot about it. She posts interviews and then posts about that night’s episode, but other than that, nothing. Can’t speak for Keegan, but how are fans and non-fans supposed to be excited about a show when the people STARRING in the show can’t be bothered? Maybe they’re all aware of how shitty it is or maybe they’re lazy, but it doesn’t make sense.
I’m always interested to see the difference in an “algorithm-free” setting and one that has an algorithm. I always figured Google was the same for everyone, but seeing the difference in articles you’ve outlined is insane. It really just goes to show that Jared isn’t the star that his stans think he is. He’s not as important as they think he is, he’s just an actor. It’s even more jarring to see just how little Walker is talked about at all. All of my devices probably have been “contaminated” when it comes to algorithm so I can’t really speak personally about the public and fans talking about Walker or not talking about it. I can say that on the posts about Walker from the Supernatural Facebook page, a good chunk of the comments are people saying they stopped watching, never got into it, or thought it was trash. There are only a handful of comments talking about how they enjoy the show.
I think it was disgusting for him to use a fan’s passing for publicity. And no, I don’t think it was anything other than a PR stunt. Her family had a GFM going that was promoted by plenty of the case INCLUDING GEN, so you know he knew about it. But for him to make his own special one and then have articles posted everywhere about how charitable he is? That’s gross PR bullshit and I hope it backfires.
I still follow a few Supernatural fans, Jared fans, Jensen fans, etc. on Tumblr and even they aren’t mentioning it. I think maybe the hardcore Jared stans post gifsets or whatever, but I don’t see much praise for the show itself, just Jared’s looks. Even the fans aren’t biting and that would make me reevaluate everything if I was Jared.
I'm expecting "Jared Padalecki defecates regularly" tomorrow. This made me laugh way too hard!
who knows he and his forehead may wish to have a final crack at films You are on a ROLL! Maybe I’ve become biased, but I can’t see Jared doing films. I mean, I could see him doing like a side character role or something small, but I can’t see him having a big part of a movie. Like I said, maybe that’s me being biased but I see him staying in TV. I could be proven wrong, but I don’t know.
I agree about Jared being boring on SM. I used to get some giggles from his Twitter posts and even some of his early IG posts because they were goofy, clever, and candid. It showed his humor and was more personable. Now it’s just all fake and comes off as someone whose only motivation to engage with fans is money and that’s a big turn off.
For me personally, I think that if instead of the “couple goals” bullshit that they try to push for their lavish trips, if they just posted cool pictures they took of different locations, activities, food or whatever, that would be more palatable than all the “Look at my hubster and I! We’re in Italy! Look at how in love we are!” But maybe that’s because I’ve become a bit of a photography nerd?
I guess time will tell whether or not Jared will make positive changes and if Walker can be saved, but I’m not really optimistic about it.
I AM optimistic about your takes on things so keep them coming! Long posts or not, I love them! <3

Hi, I hope you dont mind me asking this. How popular is your webcomic? I want to start one myself but Im worried it wont gain any traction and I'll lose motivation :(
I currently have a few hundred active/mostly active readers, 200-ish of which actively follow the webcomic’s blogs and an estimated 100 or so more who read it without following. I only know of these readers’ existence because I know there are several dozens of people who I, friends of mine or followers of mine shared the comic with and who read it actively though they don’t have Tumblr accounts.
I don’t get much fanart or fanworks yet and new creators shouldn’t expect much of that either, fanbases are a difficult thing to build. Then again, my comic is only in Chapter 1 so there’s not much for fans to work with anyway.
I’ve been hosting my webcomic for about a year, though only around 6 or so months ago did I actually start regularly posting new pages. I haven’t advertised it outside of Tumblr, a little bit on Discord and at school because I’m waiting to move the webcomic to its own website rather than just keep it on Tumblr.
You should keep in mind that I had several big advantages right off the bat, those being having big groups of friends who got invested in my webcomic and shared it with other people, running several blogs with large followings that helped me boost the comic and running a very active Discord server where sometimes I’ll find people interested in webcomics. Without these things it would have been significantly harder for my project to get any traction.
—
Your comic isn’t going to get any traction on its own unless you advertise it to hell and back. Create popular content that will help your accounts grow so that you will have a larger viewer base seeing your promos, get into groupchats, talk about it on several different social medias, etc. It’s frankly the only way to go about it.
More detailed tips to follow:
-Create memes for big fandoms. From my experience, memes get you more followers than fanart ever will. My most popular fanart only has 2k notes, meanwhile my most popular fandom meme has 100k notes (decapitated Dumbledore, anyone remember that? haha…………… 😔👊). It’s pretty sad but it’s a reality we artists face.
-Create art memes! That way you can share your art WHILE being funny. I must say though… These are always a hit or miss. One post you may get 10 notes and another you may get thousands. My biggest hit of this genre was this (at 40k notes):
-TAG THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR POSTS PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IT’S THE ONLY WAY PEOPLE WILL SEE YOUR STUFF PLEASE SPAM THOSE TAGS PLEASE PLEASE PLEA
-Find forums, groupchats, communities, etc where it would be relevant to share your projects at. Reddit, Deviantart and Discord are quite useful.
-Promote your content by doing exchanges. For example, draw something for every new follower you get or something along those lines.
-Join other artists’ contests and competitions. Maybe even an organization’s contest. The prize doesn’t really matter for the discussion here, but winning will help you get exposure. I am currently participating in a videogame development tournament in my country. If I win, not only will I get a full scholarship, I’ll give my skills and projects exposure.
-You can also just create your own contests and competitions, though you’ll be the one giving away prizes then. Running a contest will definitely get you several followers though, so there’s that.
-If any of your friends shows interest in your project, ask them if they could share it with other people. Don’t put too much pressure on them, like, that’s a shitty thing to do, but asking doesn’t harm anyone.
-Additionally, get out there, meet new people. You never know when you’ll come cross someone who may be interested in helping you spread your project around.
-Don’t stress out. No matter how much time you spend promoting your creation, it’s still going to take ages to build a viewer base.
—
BY THE WAY (this is in this blog’s FAQ but I doubt anyone reads that anyway) this blog is open to promote other creators’content. Just DM me, send me a link, I’ll check it out and see if it’s appropriate and if everything’s fine I’ll post about it here. It will probably be a small boost but it’s a boost nevertheless. I am more than happy to help any creator in need.

The ccers are just like the gop
Watching the Impeachment testimony today it’s a nightmare for the gop and Trump. Ambassador Sondland has admitted everything we knew was true using the words “Quid Pro Quo” and admitting that everyone in Trump’s administration knew. Watching the gop then try to defend Trump is a disaster or outrageous lies, conspiracy theories, and distraction.
Reading this thread from the cc coven, I’m reminded of how similar their tactics are to the gop’s. This thread is full of lies and conspiracy theories that have been duped and yet these people- like Nunes, Jordan, and Stipanik- clearly believe the lies they share. The two groups have built their knowledge bases on these lies. These faulty foundations don’t hold up to even the smallest of scrutiny. People living in reality can see the faults, but sadly ccers and the gop don’t see reality and live in an imaginary world where they are always right.
ajw720 answered:
It is hard to me to select the one thing that i find the most offensive, there are just so many. They have also named at least 2 drinks based on breast size, Good Rak (I forget the exact name) and R2DD2. you know reducing women to their body parts. And of course the one called C3PHO that is implying that women should be called whores if they decide to exercise their sexual freedom. And we are even touching on the innuendo which maybe isn’t offensive, but is extraordinarily immature. Or the fact that they have naked women gyrating on the bar and simulating sex with teddy bears in a PIANO BAR where on a different night you can sing d/isney tunes! (Abby refuses to understand that the drink names are NOT to belittle women but to take ownership of the words away from those who use them against us. She has been told this but she needs to be angry at Mia so she refuses to even think about it=faulty foundation)
But hey, according to her stans, I am closed minded and they are progressive. (yep! That’s true). You know what it reminds me of? The individuals watching the impeachment trials and daring to say that these upstanding, career public servants, many of whom serve both democrats and republicans, are liars because they refuse to admit the bigot in the WH is a criminal. (Nice try but no, you honey, you are those people. Faulty foundations)
D looked really drained to me last night, and we know he is PBB free in NYC. I have to imagine the way the are smearing his name constantly is weighing heavily on his soul. My heart hurts for him. (In fact, 3 of the 6 people in at least one of the photos has the same neutral face. Other photos, released later that night show a gleefully happy Darren=faulty foundations. Photos at the end.)
ajw720 Can I just add one thing? The “marriage” was forced by D’s team, and this includes his extremely powerful PR agency. (NOT TRUE= faulty foundations) Why are they not reading and reviewing everything posted by that offensive institute prior to its release? (Because Darren controls his own life and his business is not part of what Sunshine Sachs does for Darren). That would be working FOR THEIR CLIENT. Instead, they are allowing that bar to actively harm his character. (Such a stupid argument. Why would Darren continue to pay them if they were actively harming him? Abby this one is so stupid you need to stop=faulty foundations)
I hope that there is a time D can sue them for defamation, I really do, because to me, this is an absolute outrage. (Well we are a decade in, when you believe that could happen, Abby? Ya know ....using your legal knowledge?)
This flannel shirt theme stunt has made my blood boil more than most. (This just pisses me off. My daughter read this post, called herself a dyke and said.“I just wish I could go.” She was wearing a flannel shirt)
notes-from-nowhere My question is: why M has been forced to drop “s/unsetstrippa” (and f/etus but, let’s leave one of the sock account behind for a moment)? (Fetus IS NOT MIA. OMG THIS IS SO STUPID=Faulty Foundations) That was not her decision.(WTF? Of course, it is=faulty foundations) So, why? I’ll tell you why: given that the plan was to make her relevant for everybody besides for her nanny, it was embarrassing for D (and his team) to have her tagged by colleagues and various celebrities with that childish nickname. Do not even try to tell me this is not the reason (Faulty Foundations).
So why isn’t the same level of “courtesy” reserved for your establishment? Quite frankly “s/unsetstrippa” was far less offensive than what happens constantly in&out of that place. When will we see day D will be treated with the respect that a man in his position should have by default? And above all, when his team will accept that they are no longer managing a teenage dream? Controversy as a way to make someone famous it doesn’t work as a shortcut if there is nothing behind that people might like. (I honestly don’t understand this sentence so I have no good debunk...Darren was never marketed as “teenage dream” and he certainly currently isn’t= Faulty Foundations)
It’s time to remove D from the TS/G narrative once and for all. M dropped this place a long time ago and it has no meaning for D’s career, let alone finantial reasons since he is just the piano man and not the owner. (Well “finantial” reasons aside, Darren and Mia own the bar. They don’t work there. -=Faulty Foundations).
ajw720
Sadly she dropped that for another made up name that they have used to mock D. It is unfathomable the way D is being treated.
And honestly, I don’t know why more people aren’t screaming about this bar and how people don’t see or ignore how offensive it is. (Because only someone who refuses to live in reality actually sees the bar as problematic. It’s a queer-safe space that celebrates the LGBTQ community in ways that MAKE SENSE TO THE LGBTQ Community. Just because Abby doesn’t understand it doesn’t make it wrong= Faulty Foundations). D does his best to distance himself, but it is his name front and certain in every article about the place and he is the one on TV naming it repeatedly (I love this nonsense..so is he distancing himself or is he the name that is connected often?)
Where are the people protecting the actual marketable commodity’s interest? The person with talent that is at the top of his game? I have never seen anything like this. (Its all made up in your head=Faulty Foundations)
notes-from-nowhere You know one of the reason his team keeps ignoring things like this bar is because people bring gifts to M. (OMG...this is just a stupid thing to say) Because even if these people know everything about t his place, how rude the staff is, how undrinkable and overpriced the drinks are, how annoying and out of place “certain activities” inside of it are, they swallow their beliefs and words to go there and have a picture with D to post on their social media (This is all conspiracy theory and absolutely Faulty Foundations. This is exactly like Nunes repeating all the conspiracy theories tied to Trump this morning. I’ve looked at these and most -if not all- of these are not real.)
As long as there will be people that put their interests ahead of D’s wellbeing and public image, his team will keep to ignore how hurtful behaviors and bar are. They will buy an article on a random magazine that will praise the bar, D will be forced to publicly say the its name and so on. (Faulty Foundations)
D’s team is not protecting an investment, they are making money out of people. And people is allowing them to do so.
leka-1998 Yesterday someone asked me why I keep being angry at the things they do or don’t do, at what’s going on at that bar that screams M. Why I even had to point out that flannel theme. Because I shouldn’t be surprised at all. And I’m really not, but the way they are destroying D’s character really gets me. He’s currently getting more attention due to M/idway and AB, two great projects. Both are/will be seen by a new audience. I’m sure HW will be big too. A competent and well-meaning team would care how D looks, what he’s associated with. They don’t. And no one can tell me that’s not wrong. (The idea that Darren can’t take control of his own life is pretty gross. Nobody lives this life they imagine- it’s outrageous. Faulty Foundations)
ajw720 Obviously everything annoys me about the circus that surrounds him. But I can mostly laugh about the Halloween BS or and the excessive praise she receives as none of that ultimately affects D’s character and his reputation. But this bar, it is so harmful and it potentially could be so damaging. Imagine a theater goer looking up D after AB and finding their IG full of discriminatory themes/drinks and extremely immature innuendo. And D’s name is what that bar is associate with, not his “bride” as she doesn’t do anything, but D who is the one promoting it the media regularly. He has not promoted anything in his life more than the bar over the past 2 years. Not even his fake nuptials. (Yes, Imagine what it looks like that Darren’s bar is a queer safe space. OMG How horrific!!!!!!! How doe he live with himself? The ONLY People who are upset that TSG has LGBTQ programming most nights but Disney on other nights are those who are homophobic!!!!!!!!!!!)
And I truly do not understand how anyone dismisses this stuff or says we are the ones who are wrong. Some of the marketing ploys are blatantly and clearly offensive. And yet it continues and no one seems to care that D is the only one that could potentially be hurt by this as it is his career that they are jeopardizing. And M is praised as a role model for disparaging women and members of the LGBT+ community. (YOU are literally claiming that the gay women who runs Dyke Night doesn’t know anything about-or respect - her own community... but YOU do. SHUT THE FUCK UP ABBY)
It is revolting (yes you are) and it is really important that we document it and discuss it and continue to highlight it and I don’t care how much hate i get for doing so, people need to realize what they are doing. (The “hate” should be a HUGE WARNING SIGN Abby. But you see EVERYTHING as proof you are right and it doesn’t matter how hard it is to get to “I’m right”, how much you have to twist the truth or makeup stories about Darren's lack of personal agency, it’s all confirmation bias for you. YOU ARE WRONG and these comments are homophobic). And maybe it won’t be today, but at some point he will get free from his tormentors who are hell bent on destroying him and we will have the public record of everything they did to actively harm him. Faulty Foundations).
klaineownsmysoul This is precisely the kind of place that a real pr/management team would work overtime to keep their client away from instead of pushing it relentlessly as a point of pride. There’s nothing remotely redeeming about it and like that farce of a wedding, nothing that reflects D’s personality. It’s beyond tacky and juvenile and straight out of the wheelhouse of a 20 year old frat boy. You expect me to believe that the same person who wrote beautiful songs like “Not Alone” or “TDTDIO” also decided to name a drink period sex? (Yes!!!!!! because people are complex animals. But also because that same person wrote “Me and MY Dick” =Faulty Foundations). the words of Trevor Noah, get the fuck out of here. But I’d expect nothing less from his team at this point: a group of people who think class and notoriety are equal. I live for the day when he gets a team to actually support him instead of trying to further themselves through him. (His team by law has to support him but also WHY THE FUCK WOULD HE STICK WIT HTHEM If they weren’t helping him? He’s not a moron=Faulty Foundations) No one goes to events hoping to see D’s manager on the drums. There are actual musicians out there who are more than qualified. (And yet Darren chose Ricky to play drums for him=Faulty Foundations). Go do your actual job for a change.

CV masterpost
1. Introduction
A CV (curriculum vitae) is the story of your life. In your CV, you want to draw attention to your best achievements, your most relevant experiences. This is always true, whether you are a senior in the field, or you haven't even graduated high school.
A CV and resume are not one and the same thing (unlike what I have believed for many years). A CV is a long-ass document that contains all your work experience, education, accomplishments. A resume is a short document that hightlights your most relevant experiences and skills. Internationally, there are great differences in the use of a CV vs a resume. Where I'm from (the Netherlands) we don't usually use this distinction, and a "CV" is most like a combination of the two. In this post I mostly use the term "CV", but most of these tips apply to both CVs and resumes!
Because CVs are often multi-page, I recommend adding your name and page numbers in the upper or lower margins of the document, so that someone who prints the CV will still know they belong together.
All links in this post will lead you to a picture of an example CV, unless stated otherwise.
Use
Examples of when you may need a CV:
Apply to a vacancy
Open application to a company
Applying to college or other educational institution
Whether you need a CV or resume and what exactly you need to include in your CV in each situation, depends so much on country that I cannot tell you in this post, but I recommend looking up before applying, especially if you are applying to a foreign country where you're unfamiliar with the "CV habits".
Customization
Much like you don't tell the same things about yourself to every person you meet, you have to adapt your CV each time you're applying for a job. Maybe you did a lot of extracurricular activities in high school, but it just takes up space and attention if you write them all down. You can, however, write "several extracurricular activities" to show that you were an engaged student.
It's useful to have a general CV, which you may use, for example, to publish on your website. This is often a multi-page document that contains all your education, experience, achievements, published work, grants, etcetera. It's good to have this document ready even when you're not applying to jobs and to keep it up to date.
In other cases it's useful to have a single-page resume. This is, as the name implies, a version of your CV that is condensed into one page. Here, it's especially important to think about what you want to boast about. What accomplishments are valued highly in the field that you want to work in (not necessarily the field you are currently working in)?
Example #1: General format
Research master Developmental Psychology, cum laude, [university], [graduation date]
Average grade: [grade]
Thesis: [title], grade: [grade]
Example #2: When applying to something where the research master is irrelevant
Research master Developmental Psychology, cum laude, [university]
Example #3: Applying to a job related to specific courses that I took during my masters
Research master Developmental Psychology, cum laude, [university], [graduation date]
Average grade: [grade]
Thesis: [title], grade: [grade]
Relevant courses: Introduction to programming [grade], multilevel analysis [grade]
Language
If you speak multiple languages, it might be useful to have your CV ready in two languages. For example, I always keep my CV up-to-date in both English and Dutch, so I can easily apply to both English and Dutch vacancies. It is also worth noting that you can create your LinkedIn page in multiple languages as well, so that someone who visits your LinkedIn page can decide in what language they prefer to read it. And because you create it yourself, you don't have to be afraid of silly auto-translation mistakes.
Order
You can choose to order your experiences chronologically or anti-chronologically. Personally, I recommend anti-chronologically. This means that you start out with your most recent job (or education, grant, workshop, etc.) and you work your way backwards through time. The great advantage of this is that (usually) your most relevant and impressive experiences are the ones that you did most recently. By placing these on top, you automatically draw the reader's attention to these experiences first. Some people prefer to read it chronologically, i.e. you first name your first job, then the second, etc. Both are fine! But whatever you do, do it consistently. Speaking about that…
Consistency
You always need to make a lot of choices when it comes to your CV. Do you use colours? How are you going to order the information? What do you include and what not? However you make these decisions, the most important thing is to keep it consistent across your CV. That means:
If you mention your graduation date for one education, do so for all
If you make a function title bold, do so for all functions
If you list your education chronologically, list everything else chronologically too
If you place dots behind one line, place dots everywhere
Don't use different fonts (exception: one for main text and one for headings, but that is not necessary)
Etc.
Layout
You have a lot of options when it comes to layout. I noticed that academic CVs are usually very simple and plain, but when you work in anything art-related you might want to add a splash of colour, an intesting design element, or an unusual (yet professional) font. Some people have a "sidebar" where they include things such as skills, whereas others put everything in one column. Whatever your choice, don't be afraid to leave some white on the page, as this is easier on the reader's eye. And remember to keep it consistent and professional.
Career progression
Your CV is going to change a lot over the course of your life/career. After I had just graduated high school, I included things like school choir and school paper in my CV, because I had no experience and no education other than high school. As you gain more and more life experience, things such as college courses will be replaced by more relevant accomplishments. Don't be afraid to drastically change things on your CV as you go.
What to include?
This is a list of things that are typicall included in a CV (though not always in a resume!). I will go over each of these in more detail in the next sections of this post.
Personalia
Education
Jobs/experience
Extracurriculars
Training
Skills
Publications, grants, awards, etc.
References
2. Personalia:
Obviously, you have to include information about who you are. This typically may include:
Name: This is clear, right? ;)
Address: your address is not something you would publish online, so you don't always include this (typically you don't on your resume)
Date and place of birth:
E-mail address: it's important to use an e-mail address that you check regularly and it not tied to your current employer or educational institution (it may expire once you graduate and you don't always want your employer to know you're looking for a new job). Don't be afraid to use your personal e-mail account (like Gmail), but make sure it looks professional (not coolchick69@...).
Phone number: if you want someone to be able to contact you over the phone, include your phone number. This is useful if you are applying for a job (they will usually call to give you the good/bad news), or if you have your own business.
Website or LinkedIn: if you have either, include them! Just make sure that they are up to date and the links work before you send in your application.
Photo: A photo is optional, and whether you include a photo of yourself or not may depend on the type of job or organisation you're applying for.
3. Education
When you just enter the job market, education is very important because you don't have the work experience to show yet. Typically, you include the level and topic of education, the institution where you followed this education, the city, country (if necessary), and GPA. You may also want to include relevant courses, internships, or your thesis topic, if it is related to the job you're applying to. If you add the date of graduation it is clear that you have already finished this degree. However, this is not necessary if you work on this popular format of putting years in a left column and education in a right column
Example #1
Research Master Developmental Psychology, University of XX, graduated on 28th February 2019. GPA: XX.
Thesis topic: XXX
Relevant courses: this course and that course
Example #2: This is supposed to be a two-column table, but Tumblr doesn’t allow tables.
2016-2019 | Research Master Developmental Psychology, University of XX
4. Jobs/experience
Here you list any previous experience you have. This may only include relevant experience (typical for resume) or all jobs you've had (CV). Personally, I worked for a year between high school and college, and listing that (irrelevant) job does explain the gap (i.e., I was not just drinking and sleeping my days away). For every (relevant) job you list, also add your tasks, responsibilities, and/or achievements.
A professional once advised me to include a separate list here of my internships because I had quite a few that were relevant and, when presented together, quite impressive. (I am not sure how impressive they felt to me, but that is not the point of a CV.) It's usually fine to separate experience into "paid jobs" and "internships".
Example #1: Job that is not very relevant or important
2012-2014 | Barista, Central Park, New York City
Example #2: Very relevant job. Tumblr is very limited in terms of layout, but imagine this in table format with the tasks going straight under the job name, see templates.
2017-current | Research intern, Cambrigde University * Contacting participants * Administering EEG to adolescents * More tasks and responsibilities…
5. Extra toppings
The things I mentioned above are standard parts of any CV or resume. Depending on the job and your background you may want to spice up your CV by adding the following. I would recommend placing these after your education and experience, but the order in which you put them depends on what you want to emphasise.
Extracurricular activities
These typically include things like volunteering. As mentioned, these become less important as you progress your career, but fresh out of high school or college, these can show your future employer the things you care about and that you're willing to go the extra mile.
Training
Perhaps you've followed some workshops or training that you can put to good use in a job.
Skills
These may include software, languages, but also soft skills! There are many ways in which to do this, but sort and order them in a way that makes sense in your situation and is consistent.
Example #1: Sorted by skill type. Again, put this in a table
Software | Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, XX, …
Language | Dutch (native), English (fluent), …
Soft skills | Leadership, cooperation,…
Example #2: Languages (e.g., in hospitality jobs). Again, table.
[empty cell] | Passive | Active
English | Excellent | Excellent
Portuguese | Good | Moderate
Publications, grants, awards
I am not yet at the stage where I can fill this portion, but hey, if you received any of these things, put them on your CV! These are the pearls of your CV, because they are proof that other people appreciate your work.
6. Other files/related things
We've already discussed CVs and resumes, but there are three other things (by lack of a better word) that go hand it hand with this: LinkedIn profile, letter of motivation, and references.
LinkedIn profile
Your LinkedIn profile should exactly match your CV (consistency!). A great advantage of LinkedIn is that you are able to link the companies you worked at directly, or otherwise link to pages where you can show off your accomplishments.
Letter of motivation
Your CV should also be in line with your letter of motivation (consistency!). This is a completely different topic, but I have a few remarks on this. Your CV and letter should complement each other. In your letter of motivation, you point out to specific experiences in your CV and explain why they are valuable in the position you're applying for. The letter should not merely repeat what you've said in your CV, but there should be a link. If you only mention experiences that are not in your CV, this raises some questions. These experiences should either be on your CV, or not in your letter. Lastly, I like to match the font and feeling of my CV and letter. Same font type and size, about the same amount of white space. This makes the two feel like the power duo they are.
References
A reference is someone you've worked with in the past who can tell a future employer about their experiene working with you. You can either add references with their name and contact info (but make sure to ask them if this is okay with them before you do so!), or you can simply state "References available on request" or something like that, and then provide your potential employer with the needed information when they ask for it. In any case, notify your reference(s) that you are applying so they know they can expect a call or e-mail. Sometimes, you need a reference letter for an application and you can ask your references to write this letter. Your references may also ask you to write a reference letter about yourself, and they will edit it as they see necessary. We're drifting a bit from the CVs here, but
7. Conclusion + TL;DR
Pfew, that has been a long ride! Kudos if you're still here. I've tried to keep this post as general as possible, so that a lot of people benefit from it, but it's quite hard to give general advice, because every situation is different and you always want to emphasize different parts of your CV. Maybe you did not finish your college degree, but you have some great practical experience (list your jobs first). Maybe you took longer to finish your degree, but you did a lot of volunteering work in the meantime. Although I hope these tips were helpful, always ask yourself if they make your CV look better, and don't just take them for granted. (Except the consistency one. Consistency is always relevant.)
Here is my Google Drive folder with 3 different Microsoft Word templates + Google Docs templates, in case you don't own Word.
Take away:
Consistency is key
Customize your CV according to application needs
Make the most important things stand out (without sacrifising consistency)

@shiftingsupport: 1 and 13? ↪︎ ask the mun about writing. [ 𝔄𝔠𝔠𝔢𝔭𝔱𝔦𝔫𝔤 ]
𝔬𝔲𝔱 𝔬𝔣 𝔥𝔢𝔩𝔩. Oh hell yeh! Question time! I threw your answers down below a lil read more because I’m what the kids like to call?? A rambler.
1). What does your writing process look like?
A mess?? Lmao nah;;; So, honestly it depends on what I’m writing, how long I’m going to be continuing the story revolving around it, and what my current mood is. In general, I am a person who has a hard time sticking to one particular style or approach because I just get bored of it a lot. I find it a lot of fun to come at writing in many different ways and I’ve found that it’s helped me really explore what I do and don’t like for each genre or character that I attempt to tackle.
That being said, though, I tend to have at least a couple consistencies. Basically, when I’m writing replies, the most important questions I ask myself tend to be;
What is my character’s reaction to what just happened?
What have I written that actively engages the other writer and/or their character?
Have I actually described the scene or merely provided dialogue?
Will this thread carry for at least two more replies and, if not, should I end it or can I add something to make it keep going?
I’ll go ahead and give you some examples using writing that I’ve previously written to paint what I mean with each of them. For the first point, that’s the one that most people I’ve seen tend to have the best grip on, obviously. People who do roleplay tend to really know their own characters and can write them really compellingly. Most of the time, this part of the writing comes from the other player setting up a question or scenario and my character basically engaging with it. Typically, reactions tend to be the first thing I’ll actually be the first thing I put into a reply and I think that they are really important to keeping a fluid transition from one character to the next.
In the above example, you can kinda see what I’m talking about. Basically, Izzy made Gwen say something and Billy here gave a very basic response to it. Most of the time, I find dialogue or verbal responses are the best because usually the other character should pick up on them, but I like mixing in physical reactions and more internal monologues alongside those verbal responses. Sometimes, if two characters are in tune enough with each other, it actually can be really rad to get away with only physical reactions and internal dialogues, but that often requires a certain connection and history between characters to make accurate conclusions about what might be going through their head. Here is a great example between one of my mains and Nay from my old blog.
Basically, Nay notices that Oswald is probably getting emotional over the fact they’re standing in front of this grave and looks down to get a better idea of who Oswald is getting so upset over. Oswald then follows his line of sight to the headstones, themselves. It’s a more sad scene, so not only is the lack of actual verbal responses very fun to play with, it’s also much more appropriate for the tone of the thread. This is something I love to try and play with a lot, but I avoid doing it as much with people who I have not already threaded with a few times.
After that, I then have to try to actively engage the other writer or create an opportunity for them to add to the thread as well. Especially when writing with someone new or for whom you may not have an immediate chemistry with, it becomes very important to throw them a bone, so I usually will do this as a follow up. I personally don’t love using questions to carry a thread, but it can be a good way to give an explicit indication of how the other person can contribute to it and it can be a lot more comfortable for people who are new to interacting with me and may be hesitant to just throw new ideas at me without having an extensive conversation about it. Here is an example where Naomasa responded to a question that Oboro poses and interacts with a nonverbal.
These first two bullets are what I usually consider the meat of the reply, so the most work is put into them. Everything else is filler and tends to be what actually makes the replies prettier and more interesting. In many cases, adding the last two can even happen naturally when you are trying to come up with ways to do the former, but it’s still something I keep in mind to look out for when I’m writing. Of the four points, I think that the one I probably struggle with the most is the one that revolves around describing the scene and I think that has been what’s kept me from reaching that multi-para/novella goal that I really wanna be able to do when writing threads, but I’ve been putting in more work to try and get on top of that one.
The final point is basically just thinking about what I can add to try and keep a thread engaging. This is when I really tend to bring in that plot and start advancing it. Introducing a conflict or a new activity in the scene that might not have otherwise been relevant before now can really revive a thread and I tend to do that a lot if I feel like a thread is dying out too quickly. Sometimes it takes, sometimes it doesn’t but it’s basically just my way of jumpstarting an interaction I feel like didn’t have enough substance to get off the ground in the first place. The example for this one is between Naomasa and Jasper - Yes, I know it’s the same person, again, but it’s because Fabgen is ridiculously good at doing the whole “yes and” thing and really we should all just take some time to appreciate them - in which the two of them are both responding to a crisis of some kind. I had felt the nature of the thread hadn’t given them a concrete way to continue to interact with each other, so I made up a random conflict that they both could work! In this case, it was some random kid running into danger.
After ALL of that, basically the last thing I tend to do for a thread is proofread and format. In a perfect world, I’d actually do the whole proofreading thing more often, but lmao nah. Basically, tldr, my writing process when doing threads is:
1). Respond to what the other person says. 2). Give them something to respond to. 3). Introduce a new plot point as necessary. 4). Fill in scene details and revise as necessary.
If you read back on my old threads, you’ll probably notice most of them follow this linear outline. Sometimes I’ll switch a couple things around, but 95% of the time you can literally cut my replies pretty into these parts without too much trouble. Also yall should go check out the people in these example threads because they’re all very talented and worth interacting with!!
13). What do you look for in an RP partner?
Hmm.... An excellent question let’s see...
Typically, these are things that make or break rp relationships:
Have concise rules/ooc pages that includes information such as their name, their pronouns, their age and their triggers. For certain fandoms, I also tend to look for stances on certain major discourse points.
Have the ability to para or multi-para threads and 3rd person POV. We don’t have to always do this, but I do really prefer this kind of RP.
Have the ability to participate in joke/crack posting
Read my character info or at least my rules before interacting with me. I know they are long and tedious and that I tend to ramble, but there are some important things in there that may vastly differ from many other people in the RPC and it’s important to me that everyone takes those things into account when engaging with me.
Have discord for OOC conversations and extended plotting or, at the very least, be comfortable chatting regularly via IM.
Follow me. It’s not necessary to interact with me and I 100% will interact with people who are not mutuals, but I typically tend to assume others around me are mutuals only regardless of whether or not they actually are and it’ll often put most of the responsibility on the other person to come interact with me if they want to thread.
I tend to main with people who will have OOC conversations with me about our characters and who are willing to adapt to fit into the settings / verses which I have already created for my characters. I am always seeking out familial relationships of ANY kind and will usually be quick to main people who do these kinds of threads with me. I do have ships for many of my characters that I tend to indulge in, but my mains tend to be people who actually get me to start shipping something because the characters just ended up vibing so well. I actually really love shipping my bi male characters with women, but there just really aren’t enough ladies in any of the RPCs to have lasting ships ;;y;;, so if we are able to get one going, I’d probably consider maining with ya’ll
I tend to like people who like continuous threads and verse building. I tend to like people who don’t mind having a million unfinished threads. I tend to gravitate to people who do formatting and icons, but I do not require it. I tend to shy away from people who are too self-concious about doubles or who tend to prefer being exclusive.
Overall, I’m open to at least trying to rp with everyone! And I’ve definitely formed lasting friendships with people who did not meet many of this criteria, but in terms of what I look for this is probably a pretty good list.
