the horn blows, marking the end of the game and, with that, the end of spec gru’s season.

you feel your hand getting squeezed and you turn, looking at johnny's fiancee, seeing the way her own face is crumpled in her sadness.
"i guess that's that, huh?" she says, comforting, her voice a quiet whisper that was almost devoured by the loud cheers.
sometimes you forget that she's an athlete too; that she feels things a lot more intense than you do because she understands the grapple. the desperation. the way how everything you give and everything you put out is, at the end, not enough.
you sniffle, holding her hand tighter.
"i'm so proud of 'em," you say wetly, unable to compartmentalize your grief.
she laughs, the sound of it so empty of any humour but not any less kind.
“i am too.”
you both turn your gazes back to the rink and watch the teams shake hands with each other, the players finally amiable like they hadn’t just been tussling on ice, all sparked by the sharp tension that buzzed throughout their play.
you watch as simon takes a lap, patting the backs of his team members with his lips pursed, but otherwise he is put together. and yet here you are, shaking, lips wobbling, nose twitching because you are trying your best not to cry. it isn’t like you were the one who lost so you wonder why your heart twinges with so much pain; why is it that you are the one holding back the tears?
simon turns to the crowd, roving his eyes past bodies, until they finally lock on you. his lips twitch into a smile; you give him what you hope is a big one—the type of smile that will let him know how in awe you are of him, win or not.
they skate away and you all shuffle out, preparing for the flight back home.

it was expected for the players to fly back home together—a semblance of normalcy even amidst the staggering defeat. it was their last attempt at showing sportsmanship; at showing the hounding media that despite the abrupt end of their season, they remained close-knit. 
simon understands it, of course. it was a media play, one that contends with the politics of the league, but it was difficult to act impartially, especially when they were making their way back, empty-handed, from the home ice of the team that had defeated them. it was difficult to not show the turmoil in their hearts, but they all managed to hold their heads up high during the exit and that was that.
they didn’t talk about it much, avoiding that last game as best as they could until the briefing, but hunger thrums in their jowls—no one was satisfied with being the second best. 
the promise of a better next season hung above them, but it is still so unreachable.
simon feels angrier than usual, unable to stop himself from taking this loss personally. like what costed them their win were only his shortcomings; like this defeat was his sole failure because he did promise to lead his team on ice, with price unable to stand as their official captain during the games. he had promised to score the most, after all, and had promised to keep the opposing puck out of price’s net, but he failed in both and, well, here they are.
back home, anguished. defeated.

simon's phone rings, a quiet trill that echoes in the empty locker room. 
he shoots awake from the swirl of his thoughts, sluggish as he pulls it out of his bag. he expected it to be laswell or keller, or maybe their coach, but simon feels his world tilt when he sees your name flashing on his screen. and just like that, like he wasn’t even drowning in his self-doubt and self-hatred, simon feels like he can breathe again. 
he feels lighter, his anguish seeping out of his pores, leaving him with nothing but his flesh and his heart and his love. 
simon picks up the call, hears your voice, then he is up and running back home.

there is a sense of urgency in the way he finds you, his cold body folding into the warm touch of your own. you gasped out his name, surprised at how fast you have him back in your arms after a whole season of flying and leaving and pursuing his chance at the cup—
“i’m home, petal,” simon murmurs, his voice deep and beautiful and longing, and you giggle, your eyes watering, before you nuzzle into his chest.
he breathes you in, the faint smell of ozone and rain and something distinctly flowery fills his nose, and somehow this is what grounds him, his blood spiking as desire and need fill him up instead.
and it trickles into him like wafting smoke—soft, gentle, cascading like a warm kiss. it is still intense, hungry, but it is tender. quiet. like everything about simon’s buzzed energy had transformed into this careful folding. the anger, the desperation, all of it snuffed out for a vulnerable moment.
“baby,” you begin, voice muffled from where your head is still pressed on his chest. “love, you did so well.”
he shakes, his words failing him now. 
you pull back just enough and he sees the glazed look in your eyes as you stare up at him, your lips curled in your smile. “i’m so proud of you, si.” 
his heart stutters inside the cages of his ribs, jumping, before it lodges itself in his throat.

you are holding him like he is the best thing in this world. like all his bulk and his size and his anger is still worth this softness.

Misreading Touka (Tokyo Ghoul Meta)
For some reason, I've been seeing more dung being thrown at Touka's characterisation in the series, and since I've been wanting to write a meta for a while now, I decided to do a short one addressing some of the criticism I've seen around. This won't go into everything, of course -- the series is far too dense with analytical potential and I am a busy bee. Just know that I do want to dive deeper into Touken/Kanetou at a later point.

Touka is not reduced to a simple, meaningless housewife, and I do not understand why this perspective is used to undermine her character so often in the fandom. For the sake of this argument, I will be mostly focusing on her characterisation in ;Re, as that is where this criticism is mostly rooted. Yes, she is less active in the first part of the second series, but between all the other characters, events, and plot points, it is bizarre to me that people see so little in Touka, despite all that she does.

I could dive into how Touka as a whole symbolises key themes throughout both series, and how that relates to Kaneki’s development, but I think I will save that for a separate meta. For now, I just want to discuss how Touka is positioned in the second series, and how it does not weaken the characterisation Ishida set up in the first. 
Following the end of the first series, which set its tone as a tragedy, Touka opens the ;Re café to act as a refuge for ghouls, just as Yoshimura did beforehand. To clarify, Yoshimura saved Touka from her miserable life on the streets, giving her the chance to live with some semblance of normalcy following the tragic consequences of her childhood. And now, as an adult, and with Yoshimura gone, Touka strives to recreate that environment once more. There are those that think she has done this for Kaneki and Kaneki alone, but that is clearly not the case, even if she does hope for Kaneki’s return one day; she allows Nishiki to take refuge there while he tries to find Kimi, she saves Tsukiyama after the Rosewald operation, and before anyone argues that she was still not directly involved in either case, she actively takes part in Ayato’s mission to save Hinami. It is there that she then sees Kaneki and allows him a place to stay too, following his battle with Arima. She even provides Akira and Amon a place to stay, reconciling their differences in the process, (underrated chapters, I think).
Up until this point, Touka has been forced to ‘live while losing’, and whether she decides to fight or not, it is an unavoidable outcome when it comes to war. She is simply trying to do what she can without trying to kill herself in the process – a flawed sentiment she has seen in her father and Kaneki before, and even to some extent, Ayato and Hinami.

She fights when she can, runs if she has to. She is forced to make this choice again and again, especially when the underground ward is attacked, and for the sake of her unborn child and other weaker ghouls, she must retreat if she doesn’t want all of them to needlessly die. 
That said, it is not as if she leaves without trying to fight first, she just isn’t stupidly overpowered like her opponents, (and that isn’t a jab at Ishida, I’m simply clarifying that she can’t defeat these foes with just Hinami at her side). Even then, she manages to stand her ground for a long time, despite the pregnancy and her hunger. Moreover, her kagune has developed since the first series, and like Ayato, she’s able to create more advanced structures with her ukaku. You just have to read in between the lines to see that Touka has never allowed herself to grow soft in the years Kaneki was away, and that only now, during this battle, can you see more of her capabilities.

And when Kaneki is trapped within Dragon, she finally decides that she cannot lose him – she refuses to lose him, because to do so would bring on too much despair. Just as Kaneki has prioritised Touka, Touka, too, will prioritise him, and so, even with her exhaustion, she battles against Mutsuki, digs through the Dragon’s flesh until her fingers and nails break, and almost succumbs to grief at the thought that he was already lost to her. The chapter is overlooked far too often, her desperate determination conveying to the reader the importance of love as a driving force.

Again, we saw this with Kaneki, who pushed himself past his limits in hopes of reaching Touka. Whether you like it or not, love is a powerful thing, and that has been shown throughout the series with many, if not all the characters. And for Kaneki and Touka, their love is their hope, and to lose that love is to lose their hope. So they fight, again and again, for each other and the light they bring into each other’s lives.

Now I can argue all day about how Touka is far more active in the series than people care to admit, but I do not think that is why Touka is labelled as a housewife. I’ve been in the fandom for a long time and this label has been around long before their relationship was canonised, and I think it’s to do with the fact that Touka is clearly more feminine in ;Re. 
I’ve already explained that in terms of action, Touka still has plenty of moments to speak of, and personality-wise, I really don’t think she’s as different as people claim her to be. Yes, she’s calmer, but that shouldn’t be seen as a bad development. She’s an adult now, and with adulthood comes maturity, (or it should, anyway). She doesn’t need to fight anyone and everyone to prove herself, that is simply a childish perspective to take. Besides that, she’s still curt in the way she talks, is sarcastic and blunt, though not as harsh as she was before, and she still carries herself with plenty of pride and dignity, which was what was so appealing about her in the first series. Ffs, she confronts the whole CCG and tells them to eat shit because their arguments were annoying her. It’s ridiculous to me that people think she is a shadow of her former self, when there’s plenty of great moments involving her. 
As for her more maternal depictions, that is also something that has always been present, if you take a moment to connect the two series together. She was forced to grow up quickly when she became responsible of Ayato, and she effortlessly took Hinami under her wing after the death of her parents. This is an attribute that she continues to exhibit throughout ;Re, watching over the children and trying to comfort them. It’s a touching image, one that circles back around to her pregnancy. And to deem this progression as detrimental is rather…strange to me. In a time when we see women as strong and powerful for everything we represent – our hardships, both physically and emotionally, as well as our strengths – why is it seen as weak when female characters are utilised to represent the strength of womanhood. Because she’s a woman married to a man? Don’t be so childish. If you respect her characterisation at all, you will acknowledge how she continues to exhibit her strengths as an adult, whether that be in battle or beyond it. 
After all, Ishida could have easily written it so that she is no longer involved in anything past the discovery of her pregnancy. Except he doesn't, and instead, she fights even more, even harder, in spite of her pregnancy. Because of her pregnancy. And yet, this is somehow weakens her character? She is quite literally going beyond her limits to fight for her future, I see nothing weak in that.
It might be that readers dislike how she changes aesthetically, and that’s fine, but from that comes arguments that excuse why they don’t like her character. I could argue against every little argument I’ve seen about her, but at the end of the day, I feel like most of these points are made just to excuse a personal preference. And that is not an effective use of critical reading. You can’t make the story something it isn’t, and you can’t assume Touka was going to be a character she wasn’t written to be. If you don’t like that or disagree, then maybe this series isn’t for you and it’s time to move on. For now, at least, please give her characterisation the respect she deserves. Her role is so much more than the shallow labelling this fandom tends to give her.

i have started planning the trials, but obviously those are even bigger spoilers hehe, so i won't share those just yet !! but in the meantime, i can go over the setup and what the ultimates mean >>:3

setup: so instead of hope's peak, it's beacon .... do not worry why those who are not beacon students are here, i'm sure that'll be a point of interest once the story starts ,, hehe :3
i am still in the earliest stages of this, but i do like the idea that the students are still there to train as huntsman, it's just instead of having semblances, they are ultimates. ultimates are straaaange because sometimes it's like the characters have powers unimaginable to man and then there's ultimate clairvoyant where he's just...... a guy being a dude.... so
i think the school itself will be a hodgepodge of rwby and danganronpa sensibilities. it will borrow from both and primarily follow the danganronpa rules once the killing game starts, but i like to think i'll include a good amount of beacon's influence.
faunus: at this time, i'm unsure if i want to change anything about faunus? i feel like it's not very danganronpa to have catgirls be real, but i very much intend for white fang to exist still. i think it can work? (although much love and peace, we all know how poor the writing has been for faunus racism)
aura: as far as other rwby factors, obviously aura has to go in the state its in. can't really have an interesting killing game if each character has to spar to death. well you could, but then you'd just have hit youtube series rwby again. i think if it is used, it's more like the mastermind gives everyone aura trackers or something? idk
weapons: i'm super on the fence about their inclusions, i may make it a part of the plot, may not. it may be one of the bigger changes i make from the beginning. they will not be featured in the killing game itself because y'know. that would just. negate a loooot.
grimm: will be plot relevant, but i doubt they'll be super there
timeline: imagine how every danganronpa game starts up, first day of hope's peak (or what have you). all students have a clean slate on their memories in some form or fashion, and this AU will be no different to that set up. if it ain't broke, don't fix it! the idea is, this is set from the point of "ruby's first day at beacon." it's not going to play out any bit the same as the show because......... well....... spoilers for danganronpa but...... that's not their real first day at hope's peak dawg.
POV: as for the main character, it's gotta be ruby duh!! - ultimates: some of these are semblance based, some of these are character based. i was more so trying to catch a vibe with the ultimates rather than them being one-to-one.
Ultimate Accelerator
this is ruby's ultimate. as per stated above, this is going to be setup as "ruby's first day at beacon." as we all know, ruby is let into beacon early for her expertise in fighting. academic acceleration is a term for letting students into higher education at a younger age than typical, hence accelerator. also. ruby faste. zoom. but either it's this or ultimate excellence. i like both, i think ruby would hate being called "ultimate excellence." either way, she would want to keep it all under wraps.
Ultimate Socialite
this is weiss's ultimate. i think this one is self explanatory, but of course, weiss do be a nepo baby. especially since these are going to be based primarily on the characteristics of s1 specifically, she was truly trying for that socialite attitude.
Ultimate Escape Artist
so this is where we start to take some liberties. this is blake's ultimate. i think this one will be one of those OP ultimates that you scratch your head a little at and go, "yep, i guess that make sense." my idea is that blake will play off as your kyoko type. she's not particular one for investigation, but she's an escape artist, so she sure can get the hell out of any tricky situation.
Ultimate Gunslinger
another one i'm taking some stretches with, but i think it fits. this is yang's ultimate. i am on the fence big time on the weaponry, but i do want to take the leap to make yang a cowboy. fuck it. we ball.
Ultimate Lucky Student
this is jaune's ultimate. he's definitely a lucky student. :)
Ultimate Electrician
this is nora's ultimate. another easy one, she is big electricity!
Ultimate ???
this is pyrrha's ultimate. ???
Ultimate Serenity
this is ren's ultimate. this one is a bit of a doozy, but imagine angie yonaga's gag where she holds the other students in her arms as if she's jesus and they are the lamb? yeah like that probably.

this is oscar's ultimate. he was trapped as a farmhand and he couldn't be clarmhand, he wanted to leave this place and get himself back in space.... school... in the school system. for normal farm boy reasonsssss.
Ultimate Spy
this is ilia's ultimate. she sneake.
Ultimate Martial Artist
this is sun's ultimate. this one is a bit of a loophole all around. technically everyone in this AU is still supposed to be trained martial artist, but i think sun is deserving of the ultimate because of his semblance. unfortunately on top that, there's not actually a lot of terms to pick from when you're looking into kung fu mastery, so i had to reuse ultimate martial artist. i could've called him the ultimate sifu or shifu, but i don't feel very attached to the idea that sun would be patient or responsible enough for a title like that, especially early show sun lmao. i was thinking of going with ultimate black belt, but it just felt uninspired. it could be funny to go with sifu in the future just because of how unserious he is lololol
Ultimate Designer
this is coco's ultimate. coco is but a humble designer with her $400 coach bag
Ultimate Copycat
this is velvet's ultimate. another one that is just like "bruh there's no way." i think it's neat to translate velvet's semblance into an ultimate this way. her photography memory is separate from her ultimate abilities nonetheless. her ultimate abilities stem from her physically being able to replicate actions that she sees.

This game really does well to show that a mind flayer doesn't have to be "evil" in the usual sense but they are beings that are fundamentally different from us and they feel and see the world differently, even being released from the elder brain's control and having some semblance of their old personality and memories doesn't make them just misunderstood humans with tentacles
I would totally kill him, but unfortunately Lae'zel died in my playthrough (the roll for saving her was SO HIGH and I just. decided against savescumming. it is what it is)
And without her my character didn't care enough about saving the githiyanki prince
Maybe next time. And of course another playtrough with a different character, who would stuff all the tadpoles into their brain and become a half-illithid and romance the guy because this is way too amazing not to try

Mikoto Sena and Hope
So hey it’s 3am and I’m wide awake thinking about Mikoto’s character arc and how it perfectly captures the spirit of the original PMMM story. So have some word rambles on the subject.
Spoilers for Magia Record Arc 2, Sayonara Storage and Memory Drops.
The miserable have no other medicine

I have hope to live, and am prepared to die.

Madoka (as a character and as a story) is a story about despair and a story about finding hope despite that.
Enter Mikoto Sena into this universe, where it seems from day one she’s cursed to be in despair, always. Her family life is miserable at best and abusive at worst. But she puts on a cheery smile and tries to hide that from the world. She spends all of her years up until age 15 playing that part, becoming a shallow copy of herself that looks and acts as if nothing is wrong. Even before she contracts, she’s broken.
Enter Kyubey and what seems at first to be a ray of hope in an otherwise terrible tale. She makes a wish and suddenly her life gets a little better. Her wish makes her father leave the family and for a while, things improve. Then once more, despair kicks in; her mother begins to do the same things her father did and things begin to shatter. Because what little hope she had disappears so easily, Mikoto begins to crack. She decides it’s not enough to just fake it on the surface, now she’ll use her magic to convince people to follow along with her mirrored life. She begins using her suggestion magic on another family, desperate for any kind of affection, and even that plan has its flaws. Because the wife and husband still mistake her at times for their real daughter.
Enter into this, Hanna Sarasa. The very first magical girl Mikoto encounters, and one Mikoto is very determined to impress. She’s never had any real friends, so this chance feels like it’s everything to her. And so she does what she’s learned to do best: she lies. She lies about her family, her home life, her school life. She paints a picture of perfection. She’s so desperate she even invites Hanna over to her fake family’s place.
Unknowingly, Hanna becomes Mikoto’s only hope. She’s the one thing she doesn’t want tarnished, the one thing she most wants to protect, so she keeps using her magic to make all her flaws disappear. Of course, with this much extra use of her magic, her soul gem darkens and she witches out.
Hanna, thanks to her own copying magic, is able to save Mikoto. But just barely. Just as a parasite that only she can see and hear. But by this point, both of them are broken, shattered versions of themselves. Hanna broke on seeing her only friend turn into a witch. And Mikoto, now part-witch and with nothing but a life of misery up until meeting Hanna, becomes a destructive force.
Hanna tries. Like she does so much to try and save Mikoto, but at the end of things, Hanna’s dead. And that’s the only thing Mikoto can come away from it with- that her one single hope is gone.
So of course she begins to plot destruction. Kamihama, the world- let it all burn down. There’s nothing left for her to care about. She strings Alina along for the ride, and almost succeeds destroying things multiple times before someone stops her.
Iroha tries, really truly does, but Iroha is not Hanna. Iroha can stave off Mikoto’s destruction but she cannot save her. She can remind her of hope, but she cannot give that hope back to her.
In the end, fittingly, Mikoto our child of despair decides to give up every semblance of life for one last chance at hope. Her hope, the only singular hope she’s ever had that hasn’t betrayed her: Hanna. Mikoto creates Uwasa of herself and Hanna, and she thinks for once they can be at peace.
But despair rears its ugly head again. The Uwasa begins to chip away at Hanna’s self, and Mikoto, desperate to preserve her only friend, takes the burden of the darkness onto herself. In doing so, she begins to have periods of time where she’s out attacking people and Hanna begins to notice. But just like before, Hanna is willing to go down with this ship.
After all is said and done, they lie together in the snow. Both of them are slowly dying, losing what remains of their self, and Mikoto decides it’s okay. She accepts this end because Hanna is there. She accepts this because she has her one hope left, there, holding her hand. It’s not a happy ending, but a peaceful one. A hopeful one.
Because sometimes hope isn’t something you can see, but someone you can believe in.

Still not over how badly the bag was fumbled with the Olu/Jim storyline in Season 2. I know I just posted about how good the first 3/4 episodes are of the show, but that has one GIANT exception: whatever the hell was going on with the writing of their relationship. I may be biased as they are two of my favorite characters on the show, but I honestly think that from a writing POV, they had possibly the best set up at the end of Season 1 (bar Ed and Stede, and yet I still was more interested in the Tealoranges plotline; oops!) Of friends who had finally admitted their feelings to each other after what is implied to be at least a year of pining, especially in the case of jim, who was notoriously cut off in their feelings until they finally were allowed to have a few hours of Happiness/security/safety for the first time in their LIFE before it was ripped away forcefully. The amount of absolute gold in the plot line of both of them trying to find their way back to each other, but Jim being literally physically kept almost hostage, in a way, by Blackbeard was absolutely amazing. And then when they finally met, we got no big reunions. We got almost no acknowledgment of the fact that they had finally found peace with Olu before it was torn away. We got nothing but the "family who fucked" line to describe their connection with each other and spent more time with Zheng/Olu and Archie/Jim than with them.
Now, as an admitted fan of the possible poly Dynamics, there was a way to have made this work. In fact, with the exception of their being no big reunion where they talk even a bit about everything with each other, I felt like their plot line up until episode 6 was pretty decently well handled. The dynamic between the Olu/Jim/Archie was at its best during Calypso's birthday.
But then episode 7. And "family who fucked." And the idea that after spending months trying to get back to each other, Olu would be willing to just...walk away.
Though I have way more ethical issues with the way that the show handles abuse and trauma, from a writing point of view this is my biggest WTF of the season. Because you took some of the most well-developed characters from the First season, with the most potential, and just got rid of it? Especially when you had two amazing actors in those roles?
Djenks I am in your walls begging for answers and fanfic writers thank God for giving me some semblance of actual poly development (shout out to tragicallynerdy and aletterinthenameofsanity on ao3 for soothing some part of my soul)

Pardon me, I got my copy of volume 15 after getting home and it re-sparked a lot of feelings- I jotted stuff down again. Rest is machine-translated.
Kamiki really is a god, isn’t he??? ;;
That character is literally a god. ;; After hearing Ruby’s words, he granted her a wish at that time, didn’t he?(147) ;; He’s the god who grants wishes alongside his wife, Ame-no-Uzume.
To begin with, there’s this god of entertainment that was mentioned, whose husband is the god of light. And this character’s name is "Kamiki Hikaru," right? There are multiple references to gods in the story, and it is mentioned that there have been gods that's helped out the protagonists.
Then it's all set in stone. I don’t think this can be interpreted as something else, can it?
As for Kamiki’s problem: the topic of his “true nature” keeps coming up. But if you look at him, at least when he was younger, he wasn’t inherently “evil.” Kamiki’s issue, or rather, his driving principle, stems from how deeply “hollow” he is (chapter 146). This hollowness made him constantly seek love, try to fill himself, and want to see/feel Ai.
And when does the idea of hollowness come up? Isn’t there a part in Mephisto about being "Born of the abyss"?
In Fatal, there’s a narrator who, even with happiness, feels it disappear quickly and agonizes over how to fill that void, ("No matter how much happiness I pour into, This vessel will never be filled") all while yearning to see Ai again.
That’s him. Not Aqua. Remember when this person and Aqua both fell into the water? You see Kamiki reaching his hand out and being pulled down by things within the waters. That matches the ending scene. Aqua wrapped with red strings holding him down, reaching out toward the stars before scattering... I think the Season 1 ending sequence was a combined portrayal of both this person’s and Aqua’s fates.
Ugh, so what exactly was the movie’s plot? And this person—honestly, I think the scenario suggested around chapter 160, what Kamiki told of the day of Ai's death was the correct one, right? What reason would there be to change his statement from that point? Why would he contradict himself? To survive longer? But at that point, he didn’t know Aqua was trying to harm him, did he? I think he was genuinely ready to die, maybe even after seeing Ruby shine? If you follow mythology, that development would make sense. After being persuaded by his wife, Ame-no-Uzume, Sarutahiko abandoned what he was doing and returned to his homeland, was it, went fishing, and drowned—there’s that specific legend about this god! But whether he really died or not is ambiguous, and he ends up being honored alongside his wife, blessing relationships, guiding people, and overseeing purification rituals. Even though he lost his position as the sun god, he remains a protector and earth god.
I feel like Ai’s words must’ve caused some kind of change in his heart. Seriously, I reread the physical copy, and he said he won't mind if he died. ;; Which does make Mephisto his song, AQUA WANTED TO LIVE! Kamiki was ready to give his life FOR AI!!!
I think his storyline is best understood in connection with Mephisto and Fatal. Those two songs are clearly about this character.
But if that’s the case, the conclusion becomes: “This person wanted to revive Ai and meet her again or go to where she was.” That makes the scenario he mentioned in chapter 160 the most plausible. ;; It’s not like he killed her out of malice and then tried to bring her back out of regret after realizing she loved him.
Rather, it’s: "Ai didn’t love me. But even so, I want her to live. I want to see her again." < This type of desire is far removed from someone who resents being rejected and seeks revenge. He accepts that Ai didn't love him back. Kamiki poured everything in his life related to Ai, completely derailing his mental state and any semblance of normalcy. From my perspective, this behavior is less about wanting to harm Ai and more about someone so shocked by her death that they completely lost their grip on reality.
It’s not like he did much after being rejected for four years! Seriously, what is going on here? The scenario Kamiki himself explained is the most reasonable. Unless he can literally brainwash people with some superpowers (and even if he's capable of doing so, I doubt he'd have done it for Ai's case!! he loved her!!!) how else would events unfold this way? He’s a god, right? I think he didn’t even realize his own powers until Ai’s death, as suggested in the lyrics. It says he “I've forgotten who I lived as!” This person can literally twist people’s futures, but it always ends in destruction, which is why he’s Mephisto and Fatal.
So what’s the movie even about? Was it about Ai forgiving her boyfriend who killed her? But if that’s the case, Kamiki wouldn’t have had to explain himself to Aqua in chapter 154. That would’ve already been covered in the movie. Unless the movie portrays him as someone who ordered Ai’s murder but he’s explaining he didn’t intend it that way?
Why is everything so vague? But again, judging from how they recall each other, it doesn’t seem like they wanted to harm one another. Their feelings for each other are so affectionate and positive. Kamiki even thought Ai was the reason he kept living; her existence was that precious to him.
So why would he harm her? He couldn’t live without her. This doesn’t add up. And Ai wouldn’t speak so fondly of someone who was a bad person. If he had made her life difficult, she wouldn’t have said she wanted to spend eternity with him, was scared her children with him would burden him, but still kept them because she wanted to raise them together. That wouldn’t make sense.
For everything to align, Kamiki has to be a corrupted god. After rereading, I think this interpretation fits. It’s truly correct.
His name, actions, motives, abilities, traits, other people’s descriptions, and the events in the story—all of it matches if Kamiki is Sarutahiko Okami, the husband of Ame-no-Uzume, who Ai is the incarnation of.
They even said they were "the same". Ai was the one who first brought it up, and it was established early on that she’s tied to a god.
If Ai is a god, Kamiki is a god. If Kamiki is a god, Ai is a god. Sarutahiko also has been described as a monstrous figure, even if it’s rare. Why else would this character be named Kamiki Hikaru? It’s because he’s literally the god of light!
Ugh, they didn’t explain anything, and I spent months piecing this together... Why do they have him show up near shrines? He’s a god who grants wishes and interferes with people’s futures. I’m right. The stories of Fatal and Mephisto—I’ve been insisting on this—they’re Kamiki’s songs. Once that conclusion is reached, everything about his stance toward Ai is explained. He wanted to offer her things, even if it meant dying himself... and he does have lines hinting at this. He said he was willing to sacrifice his life for her(153) and that' it's okay if his life is used for Ai(161).
Isn’t this whole thing that's been happening around this guy...him reinforcing divine punishment? That would at least carry some sort of message.
If the moral is “Ai shouldn’t have loved her boyfriend; he was a terrible monster,” what kind of story is that? Does the protagonist have to die to take down such a monster? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the protagonist to live victoriously after defeating him?
But still, this story should feel separate from a straightforward “take him down” narrative. Blaming one character for all the story’s issues feels irresponsible, lazy, and disrespectful. That would be such a disappointing ending. Besides, if that were the case, Kamiki’s statements in 160 wouldn’t have been necessary. But I think they put that in there because that IS the real truth. I was talking about it even before it was suggested in the manga!!!
I think Kamiki originally only intended to send flowers to Ai. If Aqua’s interpretation is correct, Kamiki’s emotions would’ve been entirely different. He wouldn’t have become so desperate, done so much, or inspired songs like these. He wouldn’t have acted like that. Trusting Kamiki’s words makes the most sense in many ways. If what he's said is what's really happened, it would’ve certainly driven him to madness.

If you're accepting asks for this right now, I've always been curious... do you have colors for some of the villains in the Super Sticks AU? Some colors were probably mentioned and I forgot them, but overall I don't remember all of the villains' colors being revealed.

Uhhm, so let's move on to Mudd.
He is really easy to describe because I spent barely any time making him.
I'd just started the AU and needed some bully guy. And then ended up making him Red's nemesis- By accident-

Uh.. Mudd has an arm canon on his left arm, and he can use it to funnel his acidic mud wherever he pleases at varying pressure rates.
Due to the acidic qualities, and occasional rocky clumps within the dirt substance, it does pack more of a punch than it might sound.
Mudd doesn't really create mud out of thin air, it's more like he manipulates the dirt around him and makes it into acidic mud via his sweat because I thought the way Bakugo's quirk in MHA worked was epically awesome and took creative liberties-
Then he can manipulate his mud into the arm canon and fire it out quicker than he could utilize effort to thrust it himself. Energy saver.
Uhm. He's a bulky figure. Simple brown-themed costume with maybe occasional black, no cape, generic mask.

The twins are the thin, wiry sort.
If anyone is familiar with this Junkrat and Roadhog animation for Overwatch:
Junkrat's build is similar to how the twins are. Actually the hair too, a bit, now that I think about it.
It sticks up and outward a little more for Whiskey; the younger of the twins. 
Take creative liberties with the costumes, honestly. 
All I know is that Whiskey is more greener themed, because his abilities are relatable to the nausea effect in Minecraft.

It's got a gold rim, clear glass. 
It's actually attached to his mask, which is green and gold themed, so the monocle doesn't easily get knocked off if he moves too fast or something.
I will.. describe more of him when I actually complete the chapter where the Ladybug Brothers are battling the Jade Pretzel- 
The fight scene eludes me at the moment, so I keep writing more color gang shenanigans for future chapters instead- And probably a good thing too, since the ending homestretch of Arc One really didn't give our Color Quad the spotlight they deserve, so I'm putting more focus on them in Arc Two~

Primal is cool. She's got emo vibes, but is browner/tan themed rather than black or something you'd find on an emo-stereotypical design. 
She prefers practical over stylish canonically, but ends up appearing rather well-designed anyway, in the eyes of others.
And her hair alternates from side, over-the-shoulder braids, to long back-ponytails on a whim.
Yes, Vic has a side braid too, but it isn't that long so it sticks out sideways in the back, and doesn't touch the shoulder.
Primal's hair is also a different length. It's aboooout mid-upper chest. :)

I remember that for a while you were pretty against v0re, what made you decide to give it a shot and make Bazil?
I do know vore used to be on my “won’t draw” list but I can never remember being like completely against it as a kink people enjoy but my memory is shit so who knows lmao.
I’ve always enjoyed vore on certain levels. The idea of swallowing something whole and then it notably bulging out someone’s stomach is very hot to me (like my ideas of swallowing pastries whole) as while I love fat kink stuff my heart truly lies in stuffing kink where the person’s stomach is notably distended and disproportionate to the rest of their body and vore has a lot of this (so does preg stuff but there’s other aspects of preg that kinda turn me off to it)
Also part of me only delving into drawing it myself recently has to do with seeing other artists do it in a way that I can really get behind (there is a specific piece I saw on Twitter that comes to mind ngl).
I’ve seen so many cocky preds but I’ve learned the idea of a pathetic pred can be so fun. I do this with Bazil a bit in my head where I will change his height/size depending on my mood and when he’s smaller I image he has more trouble swallowing people and it throws him off balance way more and perhaps he even struggles to keep them down.
It’s also just not my main kink. Stuffing is definitely my top kink but vore can fill a similar role. It’s definitely a much more situational thing to me and I personally enjoy kink stuff much more when there’s some semblance of plot to it and making vore work in any kind of worldbuilding is difficult imo.
Lastly I’ve just relaxed about a lot of stuff recently and have been trying to broaden my horizons. There’s not a lot of fetishes out there that I can’t understand the appeal of them on some level. Like am I personally into them? Nah. Can I understand why someone would be into them? Yeah. And as I said in my initial lore post I have been drawing fat kink for almost 10 years now so like why not try spicing it up a lil (and vore is like, literally stuffing kink adjacent so I’m not even getting that crazy lmao).
TLDR: I’ve always found vore hot as it’s stuffing kink adjacent and I’ve recently seen some stuff of it I really like that made me want to try drawing it myself and Bazil just happens to be a character I think it works with.

I wanted to give you guys some semblance of an update because I am aware that my activity here is going to either remain as it is (or be even lower) for the foreseeable future. I have been very, very overworked (frankly burned out or close to it), handling a few family issues (including the loss of a close albeit old relative) and 10 days or so away from my annual vacations (which include two trips abroad to visit friends and sightseeing which will keep me offline). I wish I had more time to be creative instead of drained from screen time after the stressful work days, but I am trying to be kind and understanding of my own current situation. I can only say that my muse is high, I enjoy all the threads and dynamics going on and while I may seem selective at this point, I am just running really low on energy and prioritizing what makes Melissa happier when I can make words happen. I am more than happy to drop / plot things again with anyone who lost muse or the interest in current things when I am (hopefully!) more active again in November - just let me know!

Wait wait no I'm not over this I need to talk about it.
So I've been reading Archie Sonic. And besides the fact that the lore and plot of most of the comics is just a blindfolded guy throwing darts at a dartboard, random things will just like come back after 50 issues of no longer being relevant or not being talked about.
Two of these things? Shard/Original Mecha Sonic, and Sonic's experience during the Metal Madness special, during which he was the True Mecha Sonic.
So for context, let's back up to the Mecha Madness special.
So, I will be so clear right now. As Sonic was roboticized, during his stint as Mecha Sonic he is completely fine doing what Robotnik instructs. I am completely aware that he lost his free will, and I do not blame him for this. He is under Robotnik's control (or his robotic "programming" if you will) when he starts attacking Sally, the freedom fighters, Metal Knuckles, and Knothole.
But part way through that special issue, something happens that allows him to regain some of that free will. It allows him to feel a moral dilemma, and it gives him the chance to fight against Robotnik's programming.
Again, I will be clear. Up to this point, unless one of the roboticized characters has had their free will restored, the only thing allowing them to "fight their programming" or become aware in any way was as long as they were holding a working power ring (and later, the sword of acorns). This tells us just how powerful a force the programming to be a mindless Robotnik slave built into roboticization is.
And yet Sonic M. Hedgehog, the true mecha Sonic, manages to gain awareness without the usage of a power ring.
How?
Is it because he just couldn't hurt Sally, his love interest? Is it because he couldn't hurt his friends? Is it because he couldn't stand destroying his home?

NOPE (don't believe me? Read Archie Sonic issue 39 and then the mecha madness special)
He starts to regain a semblance of his free will because he almost killed Tails.
It's such a small thing, and it doesn't end up amounting to much in the moment just because he and Metal Knuckles end up duking it out until Sonic falls, damaged, but it’s highly important.
Now let's fast forward to the return of the original Mecha Sonic. This event spans issues 86 and 87.
Now, the big conflict of this arc is that Mecha/Metal Sonic has kidnapped Tails and restrained him at the top of a volcano that is going to erupt very soon. Tails spends most of the arc in the damsel in distress role and acts as motivation for Sonic to fight Metal.
And really, Sonic isn’t having any of this Metal kidnapping Tails business

He spends much of the issues fantasizing about/trying to destroy Metal while trying desperately to get to Tails, but there are two moments that stand out from this in issue 87. Namely, the moment when Sonic realizes how similar Metal is to him when he was Mecha Sonic, and during the Tails + Sonic vs Metal fight, where he tries to relate to Metal. During the former:

At this point, Sonic first realizes how similar he and Metal are, but he doesn't think too hard on this. Instead, he ops to think about what makes them different (Metal's lack of humanity, or at least the lack of attempt in keeping a semblance of humanity).
During the latter:

Here, although Sonic spent much of the arc trying to save Tails and dealing with his anger towards Metal, he tries to reason with Metal. Whether he really believes he can get through to him or not, the point is that he tries. Even if he can't convince Metal, at least he can distract him enough for Tails to fly to safety.
Now, here's what's also interesting about these scenes. Sonic doesn’t actually mention how he began to fight his programming, only that he had to to preserve his last bits of humanity. We will come back to this.
Now, during this scene, Sonic bids Tails to escape, but Tails will not.

This scene is important. Sonic is having difficulty getting through to Metal, he bids Tails to leave, and while Metal goes on about how feelings make them weak, and then about how Tails *is* actually going to leave Sonic, Tails flies back to his side.
"No! I'm coming to be at his side so we can stop you together!"
And then...

Metal saves them. He not only saves them, he stands in the way of the magma, melts down to his core, to save the Mobians he's been fighting and toying with all day.
And despite the conversation he JUST had with Sonic, not even a page or two ago, he's going off about how he understands compassion, what it means to have the ability to go past your programming.
What happened between point A and point B? How did Metal flip flop so quickly even though Sonic's words didn't do anything.
Well, here's how Sonic puts it:

"But I think you turned the tide, Tails."
"Me? How?"
"Whatever words I said to the metal guy were just words. But when you wouldn't abandon me... That's when what I said became real to him...as if he gained some kind of robotic soul."
Now that's interesting.
If I remember correctly, later character bio type stuff on Mecha Sonic/Metal Sonic/Shard just mentions that he changed his mind after seeing Sonic and Tails' display.
But what Sonic says is pointed. It's not just after seeing Sonic and Tails' bond that Metal opened his mind. To him it's specifically what Tails did.
And I think there's some truth we can see to that! Metal would not listen when Sonic tried to relate to him using his time as Mecha Sonic, but when Tails expressed that he wouldn't leave Sonic, that he'd stay and fight to the end...
Suddenly Metal understood what Sonic is saying. Suddenly...he understood what it meant to feel, to have something to fight for.
While issues after Mecha Madness are vague about what exactly caused the true Mecha Sonic to try to fight his programming, the evidence speaks for itself.
It is so highly interesting to me that it was seeing Tails that allowed the Mecha Sonic to fight his programming, and then it was seeing Tails and his demonstration of fighting with Sonic til the end that inspired Metal Sonic to fight his own programming and give his life for Sonic and Tails.
It drives me crazy that if you boil it down, one thing that makes Original Metal/Shard so similar to Sonic/The True Mecha Sonic is that it was due to Tails that they fought their programming.
And given the evidence (using Uncle Chuck, Muttski, and both iterations of Mecha Sally as examples) of just how hard it is to maintain any sense of free will, the fact that Tails existence helped Mecha Sonic and his actions helped Metal/Shard means a lot.

Hoo boy, lots to unpack here.
Let’s start with the designs, because that’s the easiest one. As a furry myself, I can confirm that yes, they are in fact ugly. It’s something about the eyes and the MASSIVE teeth that turns me off, but I honestly wonder at points if they are meant to be ugly. Duran is depicted as overweight with a small penis, how is that meant to be appealing? Or hell, just look at Django, who can find a character like that attractive? The characters from Roommates had more sex appeal than this!
Now, the whole situation with Misty. It’s frustrating. I love the topic of escapism, “character revels in their new transformation” is one of my favorite tropes in fiction for that reason. I can even tolerate this page fine, the feeling of wanting to get lost in the fantasy without assessing the consequences first, regardless of how cringe the actual execution may be. I can even forgive this being out-of-character for them, the comic does give a sufficiently good explanation for it.
But no, it sucks. This is not a character arc, it’s just another excuse to shit on capitalism. It’s “housing market” again with a fresh coat of paint. Or is this meant to be an allegory for suicide? Throwing everything you care about away just to escape the pain? That’d make it really uncomfortable if Misty actually does end up turning into a werewolf.
But this takes me to the last thing I wanted to mention: you mentioned that this comic can’t juggle genres, but I’d take it further: this comic can’t tell a story. Now that we’re on the last chapter, what even is the general plot to this comic? Is it about a man learning to deal with being a werewolf? Is it about surviving in a cyberpunk dystopia? Is it about fighting Django? The comic just seems to drop all semblance of conflict just to introduce new ones, and it feels like it’s constantly moving the goalposts ahead. It gets tiring fast.
Hell, I’d argue if this was a full-on porn comic, it’d be better. It wouldn’t make me dislike B.B. for turning Duran into a werewolf because I wouldn’t be supposed to empathize with her. I wouldn’t mind Misty wanting to be a werewolf, since they wouldn’t get as much character development. It’d even excuse the lack of plot.
As-is, do I hate this more than Carry On? No, I think I’ll stand by what I said a week or so ago. The things this comic depicts may be worse (thank you for the censor bars), but at least this comic is fairly brief. At least this comic isn’t trying to make me laugh every single page with its shitty boomer-tier comedy. At least this comic has a plot, bad as it may be, instead of endless meandering (check back with me on this when we finally get to the Rackenroon arc).
Oh also, as a BlueSky user myself, I’m happy that the site got enough attention that even you are making jokes about it.
Yeah you hit the nail on the head with a lot of points buddy. Misty’s arc really isn’t as much of an arc as it is a vent.
As for your claims this comic can’t tell a story? I used to think the opposite but now I agree with that, yet while this comic doesn’t really have a general plot, I also don’t think it’s incompetent. It actually might be the opposite case from a lot of other comics I have riffed. Like Gene Catlow and Dominic Deegan both have a plot but they take agonizing amount of detours. Ask the Werewolves never takes detours but I didn’t really notice it because there is no general plot. It isn’t as bad as Console Girl though, not only it doesn’t have a general plot, it somehow STILL manages to take detours!
If this were a porn comic, yeah I can see why it could be better. I am kind of glad the porn comic aspect got dropped early on though, because last thing we need are Warmage-style “put the plot on hold to have a sex scene” moments.
Also, I didn’t even notice the problem of teeth before, even if they are extremely noticeable. Maybe it’s because it seems to be a post-2010′s thing to give some furry sonas massive teeth. I genuinely think the teeth might be the worst part about the design,

is there any information proving that Ozpin doesn’t know about Penny? Does it really matter if he does or not? In the grand scheme of things Penny being a robot with the ability to form her own aura after being given some by her father is largely irrelevant to the task at hand, keeping the Maiden powers from Cinder and Salem’s forces. All Ironwood needs to do is give him a synopsis, they have no reason to assume Penny is any trouble or is in any trouble at all, especially considering she’s not even being seen as a possible maiden choice.
I don’t exactly understand why we’re so fixated on this Aura Transfer machine. Yeah so much of RWBY development is left to be assumed off screen, but is Ironwood & Ozpin having a dull conversation about Penny & Pietro’s Aura and the Aura Transfer machine that important? Especially when we’ve managed to figure out most of the pieces by ourselves long before Pietro was even introduced?? A lot of things in RWBY need rewriting(or actual writing in the show instead of assuming it happened off screen) but this is not one of those things. Show don’t tell is an important rule, sometimes you do need to let audiences read between the lines instead of spelling it out.
Yes. Literally volume 3, after Penny dies, we see James frantically saying "Oz, about the girl, I-" in a tone that clearly says he feels guilty for not telling Ozpin about her sooner is worried Ozpin thinks Cinder's message is telling the truth. It's not about me thinking Ozpin thinks Penny is in trouble or is trouble, I don't, its about what a realistic person would do and feel in a situation. Why wouldn't Ozpin ask about this weirdly specific technology that James somehow has? This isn't about Penny, its about the writers just yadda yaddaing past critical writing points that should be expanded upon. Again this only came up because I was trying to figure out logistics for a large fanfic I am working on. My analyzing it made me notice the weird detail and I was trying to figure out and was trying to figure out why people thought the timeline was.
Why are you so fixated on what I'm posting on my personal blog? I'm talking about something I noticed and I have a problem with. You decided to write an ask getting annoyed with me that is longer then my initial post about it. And having to "figure it out on our own" is a problem. Yes, show don't tell is important but the point of a story is to tell. and cutting out things like this hurts the story in the long run. RW/BY so often rely on fans figuring out their plot holes they rarely actually put any lines for us to read between like with this damn aura transfer machine. At first Penny made her own aura, then the machine got made and then Pietro gave her some of his semblance. The writing is messy and if someone is trying to put together a timeline (as the writers should have) for any reason stuff like this becomes obvious and are difficult to figure out. As I said, I am working on a massive fanfic project right now that is almost finished with the pre Beacon arc so more stuff like this is probably going to be noticed by me and posted about because that's a large part of what this blog has become. If you don't like that fine but don't send me asks complaining about it.

Hm... You know, you often compare yandere Wheezy to Mother Gothel. What if the situation between him and Y/N was something similarly to Mother Gothel and Rapunzel too?
Like maybe you two have known each other your whole lives. Or at least it feels like it (depending on when you guys met. Like high school or childhood or something). So it just felt natural to you when eventually you guys moved in together. It felt like a normal relationship had blossomed between you two. Granted, it was pretty lonely since everyone you get to know seems to leave one way or another... But you got your Wheezy. And he's got you. People say that as long as you have each other, it should be enough.
(And perhaps your Flynn Rider- perhaps a certain green weasel 👀- comes along when Wheezy isn't around for some reason. You get to hang out with somebody that isn't your boyfriend. And you realize how much of this you missed... And a lot more about your relationship.)

"No! I wont stop. For every minute of the rest of my life, I will fight! I will never stop trying to get away from you! ... But if you let me save him,.. I will go with you. I'll never run, I'll never try to escape. Just let me heal him, and you and I will be together. Forever, just like you want."
Warnings: Greasy has gunshot wounds in his abdomen, gets his fingers crushed, and gets ash in his eyes. Wheezy puts you down and is, yaknow, a monster- Also it's unedited right now.
"Y/N, c'mon." The tone in Wheezy's voice is calm as ever, relaxed, even bored; But the way his teeth are grit despite not having a smoke in his mouth right now and how his knuckles are white gripping the rope wrapped tightly around his strong fist gives him clean away. His eyes flash behind a wall of smoke, down at you- and Greasy. On the ground. "Time to finish up, here. Timeta go. He's not goin' anywhere."
Tears are overflowing in your eyes, on the ground by Greasy- He's still sitting up but he's bleeding out fast, the bullet holes in his stomach turning his green suit a deep red. Almost black. He clutches the wound and glares up at Wheezy, but his eyes soften when they turn down to you again; Noticing you crying over him. "Mi amore... wipe yo- " As soon as Greasy attempts to reach over and comfort you, Wheezy steps lazily on his hand creeping along the ground. Not only does he step down but he slowly crushes the bones before your wide, horrified eyes. Its a small sign of uncharacteristic spitefulness, viciousness that is so unlike him, a side of him you swear you swear you swear you didn't know about. You swear. You want Greasy to know that! You desperately try to tell him that, with your eyes, because Wheezy would surely hurt him worse if you said them outload. "... its okay." He continues, voice cracking through the unimaginable pain. He's somehow still as off-puttingly charming as ever and it makes you wish you weren't so hopelessly blind about Wheezy even harder. God!-
If you had been aware, caught the red flags, noticed everything that Wheezy must have been doing all this time- even just one thing- then you never would have brought Greasy into this, never would have befriended him, never would've ever responded to his dumb cheap flattery. You would have pushed right by him that day you met and he would've felt the sting of rejection but that would have been it. Neither of you would have fallen in as ill-fated love as you have, he wouldn't be bleeding now, he wouldn't die- "Y/N, get up."
... Sniffling, you shake your head. "No, I- Ah!" As soon as you shook your head, Wheezy had rolled his eyes up and yanked at the rope- which is tied to your wrists behind your back.
"Gettin' on my nerves, doll... move your ass."
"No, Wheezy, he'll- " Finally turning and looking at your- at Wheezy, you flash a defiant glare. Theirs a desperate tone in your voice and you wonder why you still think he'll listen. He's not your Wheezy anymore. He's someone else entirely. Why are you still begging him?? "He'll die!" Because you dont have a choice. Greasy will die here.
"Yeah... kinda the point." After heaving a smoky sigh, and not even seeming to notice Greasy's glower up at him (Or not caring), Wheezy flicks the flat of his cap up his forehead and picks a loose smoke out from behind his ear; sticking it between his teeth and searching for his lighter in his pockets. "Sweetheart I think maybe you're not gettin' this." Finding the lighter, Wheezy carefully lights his cigarette; the end glowing, now. "That's alright, I guess," He thinks outloud, giving a tiny and half asses shrug as he folds the smoke and his hand back into his pant pocket. "'ts better if yer dumb."
"I- I'm no- "
"Yeah, y'kinda are." He huffs out a sigh, and dirty, stinky smoke flies out the corners of his mouth. You know he's referring to all those years he played you, and it shuts you up. Maye he's right...
God-
"No. No no no, Y/N, you are no- you are not dumb. Listen to me- ah," Struggling and grimacing, Greasy drags himself with his good hand a few inches closer to you. Then he uses that hand to squeeze his bullet wounds - which, now that you're looking at him again through the tears, have really done a number on him. The bags under his eyes are disgustingly deep... its makes your guts ache. He's going to die here and its all your fault, - and his useless, broken hand to reach for you once again. He never learns!- "You're very intelligent. Don't listen to him, listen to me. Its going to be o- " You're just wondering, wide eyed, how he can still be comforting you right now when Wheezy kicks his hand away, causing Greasy to growl and squeeze his eyes shut, forcing the pain away.
"... Damn. Grease, you really are fucken something. How many times have I toldya over the years just ta keep your hands ta yerself?? If you'd listened to me, we wouldn't be here."
Breathing through the pain, making his voice steady somehow, Greasy cracks his eyes open; Glancing upwards to Wheezy with a disgusting feral look in his eyes. "Mark my words, fumador... I am going to ruin you, for this."
Looking immeasurably bored, shoulders dropped and eyes half-hooded as he takes his smoke out between two of his fingers and blows out a cloud of grey, Wheezy shakes his head. "Ehhh, somehow I doubt it... "
Wheezy looks thoughtful for a moment at his cig, before shrugging like why not? and - without looking at either of you, - taps some hot, dusty ash directly into Greasy's eyes off the end before flicking the rest away to the ground. Greasy hisses and lets go of his abdomen in order to wipe the bloody heels of his hands into eyes to get the burning hot ash out of his eyes as hurriedly get a tissue from your pocket and go to help him, but-
"Uh uh uh," Wheezy wraps the rope a few more times around his hand and his wrist and forces you up onto your feet, digging his fingers into the back of waist band and holding you still. "Come on, lets go."
"No!" The rope around your waist digs through your shirt into your skin and the rope winding up your forearms rub but you fight- try not to move- not to leave- but now that you're on your legs its harder to stay still. Wheezy's tall, and his limbs are long and sinewy and like rock, and so far he hasn't even tried to use that against you.
"Fightin' it's just gonna make it worse, (Nickname). And whether ya believe it or not, I do not get my kicks outta this." Just behind you, you feel him shrug again; against your back. "Jus' not my idea of a Saturday night, I guess. I will hurt ya if y'make me, though."
"Let me- "
"Are you gonna ask me to let ya go??" He sounds genuinely disappointed, groaning, like he's watching a soap and his favourite character did something ill-advised that he disapproves of. He's acting like he's on a job Smartass forced him into! Like he's only half here- have on the back porch smoking a couple packs. Like ruining your life and killing his best friend is just shit that he's 'gotta do'. "C'mon, doll, you're better then tha- "
"Let me save him."
This gives Wheezy pause. You're not facing him so you turn, wanting to see how he's taking that and why he's so silent, catching him looking cold and vicious again. Those blue eyes have never looked icier, and his jaw is set tight, and he has never seemed taller. Right now he's like 30 story skyscraper. You feel so small... until- "Nope."
He tries again to walk off with you but you glance at Greasy, head bowed against the ground and the puddle of his own blood around him, just trying to focus on breathing slowly, and your heart sinks. You know you can't leave him like that. You absolutely can't. You love hi-
Mm. Setting a determined look on your face, you grab Wheezy- yanking back to you by his vest and holding on tight. You need him to look at you, you need him to pay attention. You need him to listen to you.
Once last time. One last time, Wheezy... please, please...
Once, at some point, he must have really loved you in that soft way that you're supposed to love people- where you want them to be happy and want you back- and he has to have a little bit of that left. You have to believe that he does, at least. Because that is the part you need to hear you, right now.
"If you don't let me save him I will be trying to get away from you for the rest of our lives. You will never catch a break. You will never rest. Because the moment you do, I will be out the window trying to get back... to him... " Tightening your grip even more on his vest as Wheezy looks unimpressed, you go on; vanquished and gone of all your fight, all but a little bit. Enough to save Greasy. "... But if you do let me... "
"Nn... Y/N, no- "
When you don't go on, scared of what you're about to say and horrified at Greasy's state, Wheezy narrows his eyes at you to spur you to go on again. Taking a deep breath, you look away from Greasy and give Wheezy a quiet, sincere nod; brushing your foreheads together you're so close. "-If you let me heal him, then we can go together, and I will not try to escape. I will never, ever, leave you... We can fall in love again. I can do that! I will do it." You nod again, assuring you and him. Tears gather in your eyes but they just prove you're telling the truth, so you let them go. "You can have everything you want, we can go wherever you want, I'll be whoever you me to be...
Just let me heal him."
You search his eyes for a full minute, waiting for him to respond. Your tears fall down your cheeks and he watches them go and drip down off your chin onto the collar of your shirt, thinking... until his gaze nudges upwards to your eyes again; chewing something in the back of his mouth. "Fall back in love with me, huh? Y'can do that?"
Sniffling, you carefully nod. "Yes." Or something like love. Something disgusting, but similar. He wont be able to tell the difference.
Wheezy's icy, slate-grey eyes scrutinise you up so close, and you hold your breath- and you hold him, because he's holding all the cards and that's all you can do.
