finally posting my isatscryption stuff here!!! yipee!!! here’s a writeup about the card design because frankly i put wayy too much thought into all of these cards. sorry if these are a bit hard to parse!

unkillable and corpse eater effectively make sif immortal, since every time he dies, he’ll be placed back on the board! and i thought that was fitting for. y’know. timeloop reasons. brittle is only there to emphasize the whole constantly dying thing. because is it really isat without siffrin torment

also didn’t notice this until after i designed this card, but the brittle sigil art has a star on it??? not intentional in the slightest but it is Fitting

sif is a fox here! i know that that would technically put them in the canine tribe, but i felt it’d be more fitting for them to be tribeless? and base game inscryption already kinda bends the rules when it comes to tribes (such as the bullfrog being a reptile and the rabbit being treated internally as a rodent) so i think it still works

i’m well aware that card traits don’t actually have cool names or anything but i still want to give them cool names because it’s fun. anyways! cursebearer! i gave them this trait both because these sigils are extremely overpowered, and for lore reasons. sif sees their sigils as a curse! they don’t want to force them on anyone else!! it’s their burden to bear!!!

tangentially related to that last point, but sif is a talking card in this au! because it’s fun :3. and because i think it’d be really interesting to see how he’d react to the cabin

sif’s scar is covered by the hat a bit but it’s Star Shaped. and so is the eye shine teehee

this was the first card i made and Boy Does It Show. i had the WORST time trying to get the card generators to work for this because oops! both of the card generators are inaccurate in different ways! plus theres a few mistakes in the card art that i didn’t notice until after i finished most of the others... i promise the others are a little more polished

also, since i didn’t mention it above the cut, the sigil patch is for the bone king sigil! which makes the card award 4 bones instead of 1 upon death. this is less for lore reasons and more for the synergy with his sigils. since he’s constantly dying and coming back, he can basically give you infinite bones for Zero Cost. fun!

Sona master post time!

here is the post guys, gonna put it under a cut because I have a lot to say about a lot of my sonas

1)Bear man? He has no name really, just me really. technically I made his species a grolar bear but he is just kinda a silly bear. hat and glasses are optional. bandana and sweater are interchangable. technically you can draw top surgery scars on him but I haven't had top surgery yet so I will only draw those scars when that happens. But yeah he is my defult sona

2) Lemon (aka spearsona) My rain world sona, can be anthro or just a scug. he has no mouth usually, mouth can be given if silly enough. He has fluffy paw pads (kinda like rabbit feet) The patches on the anthro version overalls represent my friends that I feel closest to (there is a missing pink bow patch from my old drawing because that friend blocked me, please don't attack them if you find out who they are) I will be adding more patches, don't worry friends

3) Gator! My more silly playful sona. goofy and stretchy and moldable. kinda a guy I use when excited of playful, when my brain is very lizard brain. if you draw him then please keep it sfw, he is meant to be child friendly. He has 2 design requirements for if you draw him, green and has the snoot. go wild if you draw him, I love this fella.

Update (11/09/24): Gator has a shark fin on his back now. same rules as before but now requirements are green, the gator snoot and the fin

4) Draygon This guy and below are more personal or with friends so just keep that in mind and ask if you are allowed to draw them doing something. (if you are a mutual or we interact a lot you can draw this guy) Anyways he is just a long dragon with a fluffy mane, if you see him I am usually sarcastic or have had a very rough day

5) Banana! :D Pokesona, he is an eeveelution designed by my friend @boyswhowawa (I can remove tag if you want) called alebreon. He is a ground type (he also looks quite different from the normal alebreon, they are not normally bright yellow) the green arm band is mandatory. He usually is around his friend squash (I cannot share squash because that is friends sona) I actually don't mind fanart of him but he is more personal to me

6) Zigzaret :P my second pokemon sona, a galarian zigzagoon, sentret hybrid. a silly pal. nothing too special he is just silly. you can draw him being a goober and a sweetheart.

7) Squizzard OwO originally a fusion of lonely wizard and a squirrel from inscryption. He is extremely personal with my close irl friends. ask me directly if you want to draw him. I find him silly and I love him but would be uncomfortable if he got just random fan art

I also only just found out about Inscrytober and wish I knew sooner. Although I do take way to long trying to make something I like (probably because I don't know how to colour and still struggle with line art... tips are welcomed). Decided I didn’t like my first Inscryption oc so I made a new one, as always I’ll dump her info under the cut

SO this is the Crypt Keeper, she goes by Keeper or Keeps for short. She’s a lot more recently-deceased which is why she still has skin on her body, but also yk she needed to do some DUI on some of the areas that did decompose. Because of that she can also remove different parts of her body if she wants to, including her head. She works for Grimora ofc, kinda sees Grimora as a mother figure, and spends her days tidying up tombstones and such, like she’s basically a groundskeeper, which is why she’s named that.

She doesn’t have any recollection of who she was before she was resurrected, like her body just washed up on shore one day and Grimora decided to give her a second chance at life. She’s also very much afraid of the other scrybes because authority figures make her nervous. Leshy’s slightly less intimidating since he’s actually nice but she will not go near the other two if she doesn’t absolutely have to, because Magnificus is always doing some fucked up shit to his students and P03 is. Just really mean honestly.

She lives in a crypt, it’s small but she doesn’t mind that because she doesn’t really need much space anyways. Personality wise she’s a bit shy so she doesn’t really go out of her way to talk to people. But if you get her talking about something she’s interested in she will not shut up.

Author ask game: the wip bits #1

I previously answered all the questions here but I liked the wip questions in particular so in this post I'll answer them for my two vague Multiverse wips, which I'm currently just calling "Fallen" and "Martina & Dad".

What is the main lesson of your story?

Fallen: grab onto happiness with both hands and don't let corrupt systems steal it from you without a fight.

Martina & Dad: if you are what you believe you are, maybe you should believe something nice about yourself.

What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?

A lot of the basic inspiration comes from the stories I wrote in a setting I shared with one of my high school exes. But I've been transforming and expanding on it and trying to take it in a more interesting direction. Dante's Inferno is a big part of the worldbuilding of Hell, and I need to read Purgatorio and Paradiso as well. The Heaven and Hell in Multiverse aren't Christian, though, nor are they for mortal souls. Other media inspired pieces of the species and culture worldbuilding and locations - Risk of Rain 2, Death-Head's Deal, Hades (the game), Portal 2, Inscryption, probably Cyberchase, perhaps Children of Time.

What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, or help the reader grow as a person?

There are two MCs in both of these wips, I think. For Fallen:

Jerry: get comfortable as a Fallen (there's a lot of steps to this one) and also save his demon partner Tani from permanent exile from Hell (this one has less but more terrifying steps).

Tani: become Jerry's Favored and also somehow survive being permanently exiled from Hell and losing her ability to do ether magic, something she has studied for thousands of years and is extremely good at.

For Martina & Dad:

Martina: what she says she wants to achieve is not having her father bothering her all the time. What she actually wants is not to be so desperately brokenly lonely.

Dad (he doesn't have a name yet T-T): be the dad he was never allowed to be when Martina was growing up and he wasn't even able to meet her.

None of these characters are meant to be instructive but I kinda hope someone someday will look at Martina and be like, "I think she's kinda sabotaging herself and she'd actually be happier if she wasn't so mean to herself" and then be nicer to their own self, or will look at Jerry and be like, "shit fuck maybe I'm trans actually".

How many chapters is your story going to have?

Originally Fallen was gonna be like five or so chapters but then I got a bunch of other cool ideas and it might end up being more like a novel, but in my head it's still a series of chapters of some length. Martina and Dad is still at the proto stages of development - I know the central conflict is that Dad is a sweet transvestite and Martina is a sour administrator and unfortunately they're related but who knows what will happen.

Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Original, despite how much inspiration Hell takes from Inferno. I'll probably post Fallen as a series of chapters on my website and tumblr, and then collect them into an ebook for anyone who wants it in that format.

On this very late evening, I need to talk about my self-inserts that I plan to work soon. I was thinking about P03 and the self-inserts pop in my thoughts.

This is going to be VERY long so it's going under the Read More.

Inscryption spoilers ahead.

CW : Talks of death and murder. Lots of tradegy.

Now I mostly draw sona x canon; P03 with my persona (even though I have yet to finalise her design). It's for fun, comfort and doesn't have a plot.

However there are two self-inserts I thought of; and when I meant "self-inserts" with an "s", I mean they're the same person but two different roles. AU versions kinda.

Her name is Ophelia. Or that's what you're meant to believe.

The truth is "Ophelia" was never her real name. She used a fake name only until her death¹/disappearance² is when the characters, both the Scrybes and the other NPCs, use it as her real name. It seems they want her hidden, especially P03.

As I mentioned, they are two versions of Ophelia.

The first is Ophelia in Luke Carder's role, finding the coordinates to the floppy disk buried by Kaycee Hobbes. This one's pretty straightforward and most of the plot is the same. The only change is Act 3 with P03 and Ophelia having a lot more bonding experience and grew close. This also changes the three Scrybes' sabotage with Ophelia questioning whether to let Leshy dealt his final blow or let P03 know their plan and betray them (Spoiler alert : It's the latter).

I'm still muddled on what happens afterward. I thought of Ophelia managed to hid away the Scrybes away from P03 via coding, her disrupting The Great Transcendence by disconnecting the connection to the Internet, her hiding from Gamefuna who were trying to get her copy.... Yeah, it's not very clear how it goes. Except the ending.

From what I remember, it was revealed P03 did survived and completed uploading Inscryption. So I thought of something grim.

Perhaps what Leshy did to P03 did happen, and Inscryption did get deleted. Ophelia dies but not by a bullet to the head. Instead she was strangled, a much sadistic way to die. P03 was there. As he uploads, he hears it happening.

Okay. Okay let's get to the second role.

This is a bit different. This is based on P03 in Kaycee's Mod and I thought "Y'know... What if that's it's own thing?"

Here's what I thought of... Ophelia's Mod. Ophelia is in Kaycee's role and instead of Leshy taking control, it's P03.

Unlike Kaycee's Mod, Ophelia's Mod was lost media. After hiding the floppy disk, it seemed Ophelia disappeared out of thin air. In this universe, Luke Carder never found Inscryption. She successfully left no trails to the disk.

Until one player did.

P03 is very aware of this; shocked of how someone managed to find the disk, especially this mod. He's aware the player he faces with isn't Ophelia. Gameplay aside, the mod has secrets to find. The player learns the lore of the mysterious creator as well as P03's relationship with her. The creator he swore to never reveal and wants to forever stay a secret.

I saw a post advocating for the Leshy as an alternative to the ice cannibal (I’m not entirely sure if the “name giving power” aspect is actually part of the original myths, but I’d rather err on the side of caution out of respect) for the type of deer-headed demonic forest monsters that Westernized versions have bastardized it into, but as far as I can tell this is also kinda inaccurate?

Leshy - sometimes an individual, sometimes multiple entities - is a figure from Slavic folklore, generally described as being a large humanoid being, but has been portrayed in countless forms over centuries. The most common depictions are of an old man with subtly inhuman features. He’s generally portrayed as a guardian of the forest and nature as a whole, with an attitude towards humans ranging anywhere from benevolent, to neutral, to a devious trickster. He can be a protector, a kidnapper, or a tragic figure. In short - there’s a lot!

Ironically enough, I think this interpretation is itself the product of viewing pop culture interpretations of the Leshy as being fully accurate to the lore. Specifically, the version presented in the Witcher games; the game lore isn’t wholly inaccurate to the classic folklore, opting for a more aggressive take on its status as the guardian of nature. The deer skull head, however, seems to be the impetus for a lot of new takes on the Leshy at the least having antlers, if not a full on deer skull - I would not be surprised if this was inspired by the very same takes on the ice cannibal that the post that started it all was advocating against! Saying CD Projekt Red “got the Leshy wrong” would obviously be a falsehood, as they’re a Polish dev team, and clearly wanted to highlight Slavic folklore with their own design flavor. However, it also means using it as the template for all depictions of the Leshy is also a mistake.

I don’t really know why I spent so long on this post! I guess I just agreed with most of the original post (which I can’t find anymore) that continuing to erroneously portray the ice cannibal as something completely different was an appropriation of the mythos of multiple tribes. That is until the ending, as it suggested replacing a bastardized form of a complex mythological monster...with a bastardized form of a different complex mythological monster? If that’s the case, you could just call the next deer-headed skull monster an elf and it’d be about just as fine. In an ideal world, there’d be a public domain name we could all agree upon to refer to this archetype of monster and solve the problem, but obviously things can’t be that easy. Until then, just try to do your research and be respectful of the complexities of all types of mythology, and make sure you give the Leshies of all folklores their due respect.

(Also it goes without saying but pls do not attack OP of that post! I doubt they had any ill will and just were going with the “pop culture” depiction - I just thought it warranted better analysis)

Going nuts over the idea of Magnificus being too busy trying to keep the game going to shake your hand at the end + Bubby's line "This isn't how I'm going to die" during the final battle. blood guzzler sigil - when a creature bearing this sigil deals damage, it gains 1 health for each damage dealt - used for tommy to go with his drinking soda to see faster and bc when i draw him not in this au i still give him little fangs lol. i think at some point in the game he'd get a multi-strike sigil stamped on his card and be fucking crazyyy (to go with him apparently having the most kills in HLVRAI and also i think he doesn't die in VRAI? at least not as much as anyone else besides gordon

exploding corpse sigil - when a creature bearing this sigil dies, all empty spaces on the board are filled with a guts card - i didn't actually read this sigil's effect until now thats kinda gross lmao but just based on bubby talking about how he's gonna explode all the time. the bomb fuse on his hat is supposed to go with the sigil

unkillable sigil - the card copies are like the coomer clones =P i could have used fecundity but i just wanted to use ones from grimora's (i guess benry's now) rulebook

this is an ijiraq reskin!!!! or well. they were supposed to be one. their out-of-battle behaviors are pretty different but they work mostly the same in battles

the repulsive sigil is there because the ijiraq has it! but it also counts towards loop’s. general attitude towards themself i think. at least they can’t get attacked (if they don’t attack something with sharp quills that is). in kaycee’s mod, this sigil only appears on the ijiraq and starvation (which can only be played by leshy). probably for the best!

i added bifurcated strike both to set them apart from the ijiraq and because scissors craft! stats and sigils wise, they’re a sidegrade to the ijiraq. the fun stuff comes with their hidden trait!

so! shapeshifter!! originally just called. ijiraq. but it works a little different so it gets a different name shshhh. but i’ll just explain how the regular ijiraq works since it’s a kaycee’s mod card and kinda obscure. basically, it diguises itself as other cards in your deck! while on the map, it’ll show the card’s alt version with a red glow, but in battle, it’ll look and behave exactly like the card it’s mimicking. it only reveals itself once placed on the field! so it’s always a surprise! loop works similarly, but they only mimic sif’s card. because twohats :3

like the ijiraq, loop will swap themself with sif for most card events! though there’s a good few that they’ll just refuse to do. too much to talk about there, maybe i’ll post the talking card dialogue for them at some point? idk

oh, speaking of which!! like sif, loop is a talking card! they’ll still talk, even while disguised, but they’d have slightly different lines and portraits methinks. which does make it a little easier to figure out who’s who but that’s a sacrifice (heh) i’m willing to make. plus it’s just fun.

vulpecula is the name of a fox constellation! for fun parallels with siffrin! the constellation itself doesn’t have any mythology behind it though. just a fox. the reason loop’s holding a goose in their mouth(…?) is because the constellation is sometimes depicted with one! please look at the goose i’m really proud of that goose.

this was. probably the hardest card to draw Period. my usual way of drawing loops spiky face would’ve felt out of place with the inscryption style so i had to improvise! and BOY it was a struggle!! especially since i didn’t have a sketch prepared like i did with the others. i think this turned out pretty nice though!

NO PATCH!!!! REJOICE!!! loop can’t be selected for sigil transfers (because ijiraq) so they don’t have any!!!! i mean, i could’ve hypothetically given a patch to the sif disguise but no. i don’t want to even try to recolor the patch. that would be a nightmare. maybe if i ever find a blank png version of the patch.

if i were to give them a patch sigil tho, i think i’d give them hoarder? which lets you draw any card from your deck after placing loop on the field. as like, a nod to how much QoL they add in isat.

also as a little aside, you can attempt to fuse them and the wanderer at the mycologists. they won’t let you but you can try. similarly, they’ll be counted as kin in the trial of kin! because again. twohats

Alright SO! I got most of these hcs down in an unfinished fic of mine, and have been able to properly develop my hcs for Barry in the rp im doing with my gf, so I got plenty to talk about

So, Barry had been a single father to his son, who's unnamed because me and my gf decided Lionel's dad is an asshole and he doesnt deserve a name, Barry's wife (Susannah, name based off the in game file name for the Rootbeer Tender theme, Oh_Susannah, which is shortened in the official soundtrack as just being,,,t h a t 3 letter word) having died shortly after giving birth due to health complications. I might change the reason for her death but that's the current idea.

One night when Lionel's dad was ~3, Barry had left his son with a babysitter so he could go for a night out with some coworkers (he was. talked into it. after lots of talking). Weeeell things took a turn for the worse, and Barry was attacked in an alleyway, having originally been left to slowly die. Well, our good friend mister satan himself, aka Lou Natas finds him. He offers, in exchange for Barry's soul, he heals Barry's wounds so he can get home to his son. Barry only agrees because he doesn't want his son to be an orphan.

The two dont see each other for a while after that. When Barry's in his late 40's or so, Lionel's born. And seeing how Lionel's parents suck at the whole parenting thing (despite barry trying his best to get them to STOP being shitty parents), Barry pretty much ends up becoming Lionel's parental figure. Like. Barry calls him son and Lionel calls him dad.

He and Lou eventually bump into each other again, and Lou insists on chatting, and also insists on exchanging numbers. Barry begrudgingly agrees, and they go on with their lives, with Lou contacing Barry often to chat. Much better than talking to his annoying ass demon employees who can't do their jobs to save their fucking lives.

Anyways, moving on from Lou being a shitty boss, he eventually calls Barry asking for a favour, that he needs something retrieved for him. He even offers to give Barry his soul back. Barry agrees, and then ten seconds later finds out he’s stealing files from the Russian government. But he’s already agreed, so he isn’t allowed to chicken out now. By Barry’s request, Lou gives him one last month before they head to Russia.

At the end of that month, the Wilkinson-Snill family gets a call the morning after he leaves saying that Barry died overnight. Lou creates a fake body for the funeral and everything.

Meanwhile, Barry’s arriving in Russia with Lou, who insisted on tagging along. Only reason Lou needed help is because the Russian gov. Is already witch-hunting his ass so he can’t go near them. Barry’s wishing he really was dead right now.

They stay in a cabin together, and Barry starts working out by a nearby, frozen over pond. Because he’s basically a spy, he might as well be able to defend himself.

Well, Lou, the idiot devil he is, ends up catching feelings. The relationship is rather short lived, since Barry’s too good of a person to be able to comfortably date Lou, and it’s just kinda. Very awkward. At this point, Lou can’t run his game business, Gamefuna, overseas anymore. He heads back, visiting Barry every so often to check up on his process. At this point, Gamefuna’s purchased and butchered the SWK franchise.

Barry does eventually manage to get the OLD_DATA, getting it safely contained on a floppy disk. Well, the Russian government finds out, and now the cops are fuckin looking for him. He manages to ship off the floppy disk in a large box of them to one of Lou’s acquaintances, Kaminski, before getting shot and killed. Secrets of Legendaria bombs a few weeks later.

To add onto that, because I have a personal timeline of events that fit into any dmg content I make, progress on Inscryption starts at around the same time as Waste World. And Lionel still thinks his grandpa died of health issues.

🗃️/collie - we settled on this bc while she's perfectly fine with being seen as their source, we wanted a way to distinguish between him and canon <:) also hes a dog so its a funny pun

🍭/bg/bubblegum - OK THIS IS SIMPLE . they're an introject of an oc of mine so we just. kept the same name

🧭/philip - he realllllly doesn't wanna be seen as the exact same person as his source, but he's still attached to the character + show, so we thought that something connected to it but still general enough to not immediately be clocked as a fictive would be best. we tried to find other names that were even more separated but nothing felt quite right to him

👀/wizzy - this wasn't the first choice actually! we were thinking of going by wizbot because it was shorter than lonely wizard, but i think it was one of my qpps who started calling them wizzy as a nickname, and they really got attached to it!

💝/powder - this one just kinda Came to us tbh?? hea showed up super abruptly and she already had a name and stuff. i think its a reference to the color powder pink but its also just generally cute!

♟️/alexei - again a case of wanting to be separate from who they're an introject of ... alexei is a name that sascha vykos goes by on occasion, and alexei also goes by sascha in return

🟠/sel - ok so its an introject of the photographer from inscryption and that character is based on leshy from the same game so we literally just took leshy's name, reversed it, and shortened it. sel is another one who showed up really quick so we were able to come to a conclusion easier too

⛵/irah - ehhh. i think we straight up went to google and dug around until we found something good
