my two cents on the everlux drama

am I a fan? no, but keep in mind I haven’t been a huge fan of any ancient breed. I have a number of issues with their design but it doesn’t involve the concept of being a grub kinda dragon or how fat they are. mostly it’s just that all their different components feel a bit jarring when all put together so I find them kinda cluttered.

but on the other hand, I’m used to being disappointed in ancients for entirely different reasons. I’d SO much rather be disappointed that they went a little too cluttered for my tastes than getting the same “this ancient could pass for a modern easily” that we’ve gotten so many times already

so good on staff for trying something new, I hope we get more attempts like this. maybe the first one didn’t hit for me but there’s always more chances. there is also a lot of valid feedback that I really hope the artist(s? might just be Undel) receive, but this wasn’t just an everlux issue (don’t get me started about fathom M and aether M and undertide M and)

and I hope the next breed is even fatter

you know a neat little bit of subtle world building I've always liked in the recollection trilogy + freelancer saga (that gets forgotten about in later seasons) is how the bgc + the freelancers (sans ct and lina) were the only characters to wear mark VI (or in caboose's case mark V) helmets. all other freelancer personnel and the UNSC in those seasons either wore ODST armor/helmets or marine armor, and idk I just think it was a neat little detail that showcases some level of consistency with the greater halo canon.

I just had a dream where I had Nickelodeon on in the background while I was doing other things and all of a sudden I saw a promo that said “Nickelodeon: home of the Devil May Cry series.”

Then I saw a trailer for a TMNT-like cartoon with all of the DMC5 characters and when I tell you I FLIPPED OUT.

I want this to be a real thing so bad. Your move, Nickelodeon.

if this has been said already I’m so sorry but you know what I would LOVE? absolutely froth at the mouth for? is if we get a little montage teaser of Buck and Eddie respectively stumbling into their homes, and all you see are snippets of their faces hands mouths belts fingers feet - nothing too wide shot though. The viewer assumes it’s them with partners (perhaps implied Nat/ Marisol as we were left with last season) but, again, all we see are the close ups, nothing too revealing except for Buck/ Eddie’s faces every now and then but no clear shot of their partners. You see them fumbling with clothes and giggling and maybe a meeting of lips but! NO CLOSE UP! It’s implied the viewer must already know who it is. Even better if this montage is at the start of the episode.

The episode continues on and maybe we see Buck and Eddie giggly/ texting. Running off to answer the phone (kind of like how Buck was when he got a therapist and everyone thought it was a gf). We see messages sent but not the contact name, or maybe a contact name that’s just a pet name or a nickname. Maybe the 118 even starts teasing them about their relationships etc. Then at the very end of the episode there’s a call back to the montage, or maybe not, but either way there’s finally a wide shot that reveals MUAH big kiss between! You guessed it! Buck and Eddie! Together! Kissing EACH OTHER!

Anyway I’m sure we’ll be lucky if Buddie goes canon /at all/ but if they do…. I wanna see it like this.

maybe its sample bias but i think it's kinda funny how most people I've seen who've played drakengard because of nier are making ending e THE endgoal and more often than not the main if not only reason they're playing the game at all and when they finally get it they're like "this is it the single most impactful, greatest moment of all gaming. im wiping tears from my eyes this is it" and then you see the drakengard fans who've played drakengard because they like drakengard and you ask them about ending e and they're like "eh. it was okay, i guess"

Okay, so, real talk, I did not actually like everything in this book, but I still fucked with it SO HARD. Like, honestly, I picked up what this was putting down (a little heavy-handedly, but done so well imho???) and the WAY IT WAS WRITTEN????

Like, I did a course on the Aeneid. And obviously it was a Roman mythos, not Greek, but DAMN, CLAIRE NORTH. I could see my translations!!! Written in the vernacular of english!!! RiGHT THERE IN THE TEXXT!!!! I GOT SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! It's just, such little things. The phrasing of a certain line. The odd usage of certain similes or metaphors that go off about people or places. The strange diversions to explain events or people right in the middle of the text before jumping straight back into the story. IT WAS SO VERGIL GUYS I SWEAR.

(i haven't had to translate the greek myths sorry guys and I read the odyssey so many years ago in english many apologies am working off what I got)

And, like, as I said, it was very heavy-handed as it backhanded the greek poets for ignoring the women but, like, she was right??? It was insane guys. It was absolutely insane. And everyone was so nuanced and had personalities and hopes and dreams and backstories and at points I was worried she was going to sacrifice the guys to further the women??? Which, like, I understand the irony, and obv couldn't super fault her for it, but she ended up balancing everyone out so well??? Like the guys were in the background instead but they were still all unique and had different priorities and shit.

Just, this whole book was such a breath of fresh air. Damn.
