Thank you to @meganwhalenturner for inspiring me to get back into embroidery! I have had the mountains on this piece done for at least a year and got stuck, because (obviously) I am not good at embroidering words. But I wanted a quote from the books to put on my wall, and this was the best way to do it.

amazing update as always! i love seeing the different thoughts and processes everyone this update were going through, especially when you compare it to MC’s reasoning as to why she wouldn’t ask them for help before pursuing her lead and dying.

There’s Duke and Damian, who she had admitted would probably help if she asked. However, the similarities end there. She ultimately didn’t ask Duke for backup because she didn’t want to burden him or have to rely on him. With Damian, a mix of her own narrative of what his motivations to help her would be and how harsh his words would be while helping her are what stopped her from reaching out.

There’s Steph and Cass, who both seem to have a better grasp on what their relationship with MC was truly like by now and are at least facing it. It’s was especially interesting to see how Cass noticed all the tiniest details about her, got lost in understanding MC on a deeper level that only she retold truly understand, only to forget about the aspects of getting to know someone that help establish mutual connections, true closeness.

Then… there’s Tim. Sweet, disastrous, Tim. Ever since I started reading this fic I knew he wasn’t going to take MC’s death well lmao, he’s notorious for not taking death well, but I didn’t know how he’d actually react to it. The fight with Damian and the argument with Steph were well done and poked at thoughts i already had about his relationship with MC.

His relationship, or lack-thereof one with MC was always so interesting to me, especially since a good chunk of his Robin and Red Robin run was him making connections and allies out of people that even Batman didn’t/wouldn’t initially (or ever, sometimes) approve of. The fact that he didn’t with her was always so fascinating to me. I get it, she wasn’t exactly as fast as he was with picking up leads and the detective aspect as he was, but I feel like him letting his frustrations with that fester instead of outright saying it and letting it be solved via communication/arguing would’ve done loads to actually give them some sort of closer relationship. Though, maybe that would push her further away from him, MC back then might not have taken an argument with him well. And even now, both when we see his perspective in the regressed timeline and the original one after her death, I still don’t fully get his thought process, but I’m excited to see what happens next!

Also, interesting that Constantine (? probably, right? Or maybe an OC, who knows) is showing up now. Is he going to find a way to bring MC back into her original timeline/body? Should he? I kinda want her to wrap things up in the regressed timeline before she goes back to face her family in the original, also gives her more time to spend with Caitlyn and Adrien lol

as for tim, dw, his and reader’s lack of a substantial bond will be further explored in later chapters (hopefully HAHA) because it really does take two people to form a bond. reader definitely could have done stuff differently in the past that had led to their almost nonexistent bond. (backstory for them when? not that soon but it’s being drafted 🤭)

this is part of a larger fic I started writing with a bit of everyone's point of view post-finale but I felt like it needed to be shared:

Judd laughs as Charlie squirms out of his arms. She runs up to the wall, points at his brothers, and says, “I love them.”

Suddenly there’s something in his throat. He clears it, ignoring the tears in his eyes, and walks up to his daughter.

“Yeah,” he says. “I love ‘em too.”

She turns back to him and smiles that blinding grin of hers, and he honestly doesn’t know what he did to deserve her.

“Come on, Charlie girl, let’s go see your aunts and uncles,” he says after a moment. She cheerfully follows him back to the others, and almost immediately gets distracted by running to Paul to ask him who knows what. The soft smile won’t leave his face as he watches her. But, eventually, knowing there are other people to see and talk to, he turns around.

And the world stops.

Because there, standing in the entryway, is Grace.

The air is still except for the tiny movements of her hair.

The colors of the station are all dull and gray except for her bright floral dress.

The world is silent except for her voice.

“Hi, Judd.”

“Grace.”

He moves towards her without a second thought. And finally, after months and months, he’s in her arms. She’s in his arms. Grace is here.

“Hi sweetheart,” comes her voice from in his shoulder, a wet kind of laugh accompanying it. He doesn’t say anything, just squeezes her tighter.

Judd finally registers other stimuli in the room.

“Grace!”

“What?”

“You’re here?”

“It’s so good to see you!”

They must’ve all been silent when she appeared for them to still be saying those first things. They finally pull away from each other, and Judd sees that everyone has moved closer. Still, they have a bubble. Their family knew they needed it.

“It’s really great to see you,” he says, full of emotion. His voice breaks, he thinks, but all he can think about is the love and tears in Grace’s eyes.

“You too,” she returns.

He’s smiling.

“I’m so serious, he kept the horse.”

Grace laughs. She can’t seem to stop laughing, to stop smiling, because she missed this. It was her calling to go and help people, and she doesn’t regret the work she did. But all the memories, the get-togethers, the low moments, the celebrations with her family that she missed? She regrets that.

“In my defense,” comes Owen’s voice from TK’s phone’s speaker. “He was all alone.”

“We know how you bring home the strays,” his son teases, and that sets them all off again.

Grace’s gaze turns to Judd. She knows he’s been staring at her almost every moment since he first saw her. Right now, his head is thrown back in the kind of laughter that you just can’t explain, and he looks so happy.

She regrets most of all that she wasn’t here for him and Charlie. He told her all about his struggles, eventually, and she started working immediately to come home. It still took far too long, but she was finally here. Ready to make up for lost time, for all the times he needed her.

Grace wraps her hand tighter around his, and he responds in kind. As the laughter starts to subside, his eyes meet hers. He smiles, and Grace smiles back.

She has her husband, her daughter, her family all around her. She’s finally back home. That’s what’s important it. Beyond that, they’ll figure it all out together. They have the time.

(her mother was likely to have passed on as well poor iru 🥀🥲)

what if they kept an eye anyway knowing the bloodline she hailed from (lonans line lhysa and feanorians line has a STORY if there ever was one i will yell about it soon prommy !!!!!) and low and behold none too long later her magic manifested what if they waited a while more until she built her network of little creatures she reanimated that relayed her things and gaggle of friends what if she had a kingdom of her own and she refused

what if she was thrown under a bloody ritual to wipe her memories so that all she knew was the sisters a sort of sect of necromancers within the mourners that had their own ideas and machinations and saw her as their heir of sorts??

what if it was like she was to be some sort of lich queen…thing(?) ruling the living and the dead from the necropolis and that it went topsy turvy (to irulannes benefit ubeknownst to her at the time!!) when the thing happened and that whole her having a mage heir to rule was merely a side thing that if it happened cool but the main goal was the lich queen thing.

what if feanorian was in the area for a reason or another (maybe i can think of that with emms episode !!) he’s looking for the rook on behalf of lhysa who has her ex to thwart/save and a demigod daughter to raise etc etc (things i am planning to yell about later oo there’s so much to yell about with lhysa but this is a iru lore essay <3)

what if the prodigy to gifted kid burnout between lucanne (heir to bloodline etc etc luca and child of nothing destined to inherit everything irulanne) made me insane <3

New ship dynamic: who's the bull and who's the matador :)

I think, in this AU, Fernando is generally pretty fond of Seb when he first meets him. Like "ah yes my very own protégé, very nice, I shall mold him in my image." But then Seb starts veering off that course. Bullfighting is all about being dramatic, but Seb maybe has a bit too much(🤏) flair for the dramatic. This escalation starts while he's still Fernando's assistant but he keeps it generally at bay. But god when he becomes a matador himself, he's just off the rails insane.

Bullfighting, to me, is a sport about reckless endangerment of one's self in the pursuit of drama and performance(its literally described as a tragedy in three acts.) But Fernando thinks Seb endangers himself *too* much, not because he cares or anything, but he's making a mockery of the sport!! Especially when Seb starts doing that bull hand symbol(seen above), Fernando just keeps become more enraged with him, not anything to do with the fact that Seb is threatening his records and threatening his own wellbeing, nah of course not.

Seb's gesture is making a mockery of the sport, he's disrespecting the culture, the very nature of it, blah blah blah. Jenson once asks Fernando, after noticing him seething while watching Seb do his gesture, "Which bull are you really trying to defeat?" One could also describe Fernando and Seb's relationship as a "tragedy with three acts."

Anyways Fernando gets very tied up with this rivalry. Even after suffering a severe injury(I have yet to decide, but y'know mchonda electrocution core), he quickly returns to the sport, loath to let Seb get any more headway. And then Seb gets injured, poor little sweet Seb, and neither of them can handle it. Though I already covered this in my prev lore post 🤭 and I think I put it pretty viscerally there so!! I digress.

They're both matadors, but the bull itself is not the only bull Fernando wants to conquer. Conquer as in death? Hm.
