Just take away the "godly" and you are left with what is basically a single aristocratic family rulling as a monarchy with Zeus as the matron of the family and king.

Said monarchy has made and upheld a system in which they exploit a lower class for their own gain. There is basically no social mobility, rendering the lower clasess basically condemed to serve the rich upper crust ignoring them if they do not activley want something from them.

As if that wasn't enough they have also been shown to be completly aware of and okay with the fact that the practice mentioned above leads to the lower class generally not living beyond the age of twenty.

There is no concept of democracy or free-speech. The lower class has basically no human rights as the monarchy is allowed to pretty much just do whatever they want with them with no fear of punishment- that also included killing them or inflicting them with fates worse than death.

Ontop of all that the monarchy has also proven itself untrustworthy on multible occasions, as they have broken promises on multible occasion and show no reason to be trusted whatsoever.

The most famous of a similar irl situation ended with the french monarchy's heads in baskets.

Hey for real though, why was older anime obsessed with egregious strobe effects and why did it take Pokemon hospitalizing a bunch of kids for it to stop? It basically never looks good, and you'd think everyone involved would have taken one look at a finished piece of animation and said "oh wait, this looks like fucking shit. Let's do literally anything else."

Thinking about this again because I hit the infamous Porygon ep in my watchthrough of original Pokemon, and MAN it really is the worst that shit ever got. No wonder it caused a huge scandal. Basically half the episode is the entire screen flashing blue and red. Harshest shit I've ever seen, and I watched Gaogaigar! I'm glad they stopped doing this shit, but it sucks that it took kids getting hospitalized for it to happen. And not just literally any human being with functioning eyes to point out that it physically sucks to look at.

And I still don't know why they kept doing it in the first place! Did they think it looked cool? Was it somehow technically impressive for the time? It's just the worst.

before they reverted on their decision to make the rt podcast site-exclusive, their youtube channel was almost solely clips from the podcast for two-ish months straight. it's a disaster

the explanation as to why it was moved from yt makes sense at first, but with the knowledge that rt has already made distinct yt channels for some of their other podcasts like face jam and red web, it just makes me wonder why they didn't do it with the newer iteration of the rt podcast to begin with :P

ik i just did a big post on maximizer but i was listening to it again today and something clicked for me about the whole 'to you whos impersonating a mad man/ "simple words, if i want to believe in them"/—it won't be enough/"if i'm sorry for it"/—you wont want the sudden answer already joined in the noise"

when the song came out i was like huh i wonder whos supposed to be saying the quotes here but now that we have laboratory and yamete kudasai it makes more sense if shes quoting them. the two of them both just wanting to believe the simple things, the bare minimum to participate in the work, & here the maximizer chara's like talking down to them going "well fine go ahead and do that i cant stop u but ur not going to like the outcome & im going to say i told u so" theres an undertone of seriousness but shes still so casual about it it blows my mind.
