sometimes i forget about cress like im thinking of a scenario and i skip a character and its cress not bc i dont like her (i AM her actually) but i create stories where her certain expertise (hacking and illegal stuff) doesn’t fit w the plot im cooking up.

i can’t make a kaider fic without thorne and i cant write thorne without cress. so i have to somehow make her more relevant than just being thorne’s gf but an essential person to the plot.’idk how to explain it but i ALWAYS have to change smth abt my story to make cress fit

How do Inklings and Octolings bathe?

some headcanons+doodles about how i think inklings and octolings (inkfish) bathe, taking the water weakness into account. I think it's boring to ignore the water weakness and it is undeniably canon, see this post for more info!

I've heard ideas like ink-based piping or attachments that change water as it comes out into ink, but imo the former sounds expensive to install everywhere, most species aren't ink based and like water, and even inklings and octolings still use water. The latter seems too... magical?

I also wanted to keep it simple. high pressure mist showers or bath bombs are modern inventions, but sitting at the edge of a hot spring and wiping ones body down with a damp sea sponge is something i can imagine an inkling doing 1000 years ago if they had that bathing culture.

These are just a few ideas. The way we humans bathe differs depending on culture and time, and even the individual, and I'm sure there would be truth to that for inkfish too.

(final note, suction cup teeth on inklings aren't canon LOL but since its a trait some species of real squids have, i think there would be inklings that have it too.) anyway if you want to adopt these headcanons, then please do<3

Dropping the latest Patreon Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for November! One of the peak scenes from Winter of The Lunar Chronicles Series by Marissa Meyer, featuring Cress and Thorne! Cress was my favorite character of the series, simply because of the harrowing nature of her story-line. (her satellite??) Given that each of the four main leads are retellings of classic fairytales, I think Cress and Thorne had the most clever adaptation. After doing a second couple illustration from the series, I'm getting the urge to complete the set. Especially, Scarlett + Wolf, who have one of the most satisfying reunion scenes I've read thus far. one of my favorite parts of the lunar chronicles has always been how batshit insane it is. just the the genuine unhingery. the main character kidnaps her love interest from his wedding. said love interest stabs his arranged bride (a murderous dictator) with scissors at the altar. cress and thorne stay at an inn in the middle of the desert, and while he’s fucking around gambling she gets kidnapped into an underground medical experimentation human trafficking ring and bought by her long lost father. there’s evil moon people. scarlet and wolf get it on in a boxcar after like two days of knowing each other. 4/9 of the main cast aren’t human. cinder crashes kai’s wedding (again), murders twenty people, and jumps off a ten story balcony into a lake. kai keeps cinder’s metal foot so he can stare at it and long after her while she’s a wanted fugitive. cress fangirls over and stalks her outlaw crush on the internet for years and then bags him when they meet. not one of them is over twenty or mentally sound btw. no other YA series is doing it like that. applause

this is a comic idea that has been tormenting me since march, but in august I finally started to make it real. very self indulgent, i'd been wanting to have cress forced to Kill as a part of his story for many years now though. hehe

The events of this story take place before Big Runs have started. Cress has never worked at Grizzco. Why is he being targeted by Salmonids...? That is the mystery... lots of worldbuilding thought went into this btw. i am open to questions. *folds hands together*

Born in Chicago, Illinois, she earned her medical degree from Howard University and worked as a practising psychiatrist, focusing on mental health in the Black community. Her work sought to uncover the psychological roots of racism and its impact on people of African descent.

Dr. Welsing is best known for her book, "The Isis Papers: The Keys to the Colours," where she introduced her theory of colour confrontation. She argued that white supremacy is driven by a deep-seated fear of genetic annihilation due to the dominance of melanin in people of African descent. This theory explained systemic racism as a psychological defence mechanism rooted in white insecurity.

Throughout her career, she emphasized the importance of mental liberation for African people, advocating for a deeper understanding of how racism operates to maintain power structures. She challenged Black communities to value their heritage, prioritize unity, and resist internalized oppression.

Dr. Welsing was also a dynamic public speaker, using her platform to dissect the psychological underpinnings of racism in politics, media, education, and daily life. Her work remains influential among Pan-Africanists and those committed to understanding and dismantling global systems of oppression. She passed away in 2016, leaving a profound legacy of intellectual courage and dedication to African empowerment.
