throughout the musical athena sees just how deeply odysseus loves and cares for his family and in the wisdom saga sees telemachus feel the same way for him, a man who was gone before he could know even him
she sees a father and son who would do anything for eachother yet when it comes to her own father it couldn’t be more different
zeus sets up game making her fight to save her friend and when she wins he can’t stand it and strikes her down
she’s so injured that her own immortal siblings ask if she’s even alive
like imagine the hurt and betrayal she would’ve felt especially after seeing how much mortals love their families in the short lives they have while her own father who’s known her for centuries could care less
#ik that in greek mythology she’s his favorite#but being the favorite of zeus of all gods doesn’t mean much#and athena is one of the major characters in this so it makes sense to focus more on her difficulties with her family#and the differences in dynamics is too good#also athena getting those lightening strike scars that are eternally bleeding is gonna be so fun to draw#epic the wisdom saga#epic the musical#athena epic#zeus epic#telemachus#odysseus

Lore Olympus: a golden mine of bad writing
As I said, one post wasn’t enough.
There is still a lot to say about this webcomic and in this post I would like to talk about how Zeus, Apollo and Kronos have been treated. Here I will focus on the first two acts only, because the third act is not over, as well as the story. And yes, that means I will write another post when this whole thing is over.
I wanted to focus on these three gods in particular because are treated in a way that baffles me and makes me question what did they ever do to Mrs. Smythe. Tell me, Rachel: was it something personal? Did they do something to your family? What happened?
But maybe you don’t understand my point, especially if you haven’t read the Greek myths at all and you think that these three are just “Unfaithful Guy”, “Rapist” and “Evil Villain Har Har Who Also Wants To Rape”. Seriously, what’s with this weird obsession with raping everyone and with sex? Did Mrs. Smythe ever see anything else in myths, besides sex?
So please, allow me to explain why their characterizations are wrong and boring - and no, not just from a mythological point of view.
_______________________________
Zeus: the walking clichè
Making Zeus an asshole is understandable, even if utterly boring and clichè. Oh wow, he's an unfaithful husband and he's vain. Very original. Groundbreaking, I'd say. I’ve never read about him being unfaithful to his wife, not even once in all the 200 million retellings made during the history of mankind.
It's a shame because Zeus is much more than that. He's a mighty ruler with a strong sense of justice: in several myths, he punished the assholes for their wrongdoings. He's very clever and strong. He's also associated with xenia, the custom of offering protection to strangers, which means Zeus is also a protector of foreigners.
I mean, this information alone offers so many new perspectives about him! Just imagine if, instead of hanging around and doing nothing useful aside from being everyone’s favorite punching bag, Zeus fought against every corrupt system of the mortal realm, in order to protect the foreigners and the innocents. It would’ve been so cool to see a different side of him, instead of the same thing over and over again!
But nope, Zeus = unfaithful husband only. Let’s ignore all the other aspects of him, to focus on the one everyone focuses on. Let’s make him the umpteenth version of the same guy, instead of offering a new vision. This will surely make the story worth everyone’s time!
Rachel, this could’ve worked if I was 12 and had never read a retelling in my entire life. But since I’m more than twice that age, seeing Zeus as an unfaithful husband again doesn’t get my interest. And I’m sure this doesn’t only apply to me, but to everyone who already saw at least two retellings of him. Isn’t this story supposed to be new and original? Then why are we still picking from the same old clichè visions of these gods? Where is the writer’s personality and ability?

Apollo: king of wasted potentials
I am absolutely, completely, 100% baffled at how Apollo has been treated in this story.
It's insulting to see the most beloved Greek god treated as a bidimensional piece of shit. Not only because he doesn't make any sense in the story (why is he here in the first place? Did Persephone and Apollo even interact in any myth?), but also because there are so many different possibilities for him, that seeing him being this is the biggest waste of potential I’ve ever seen.
A brief recap of who Apollo really is: Apollo is the embodiment of the sun. He is the god of arts and crafts. He's the most beautiful god, he embodies the concept of perfect Greek beauty. And he is associated with a lot of cool stuff, like medicine, truth and oracles. Also, like most of the other Greek gods, Apollo had many male and female lovers.
Now, look me in the eye and tell me that, with all of this, your first idea about him is "yeah, let's make him a stupid rapist, so stupid to not realize that hey, maybe forcing a girl to sleep with you will not make her fall in love with you". Oh and let's not forget he randomly decided he wanted Zeus' throne just after the fertility plot point had been introduced Because Yes. And he’s running for president of Whatever-Land Because Yes. Also, he’s currently involved again in another evil plot Because… yeah, you got it.
It’s just so frustrating to see him being the biggest loser of all time, considering how much cooler he could’ve been. Just think about it: we could've had a bisexual musician, who does concerts with his band (the Muses) and has a shit ton of lovers. We could’ve had a heartbroken doctor, who does his best to save everyone because he has not been able to save his own son from death (Asclepius). We could've had a mysterious advisor who can see the future because of his foresight powers.
What did we get instead? A fucking rapist.
Apollo is nothing but wasted potential. He’s an insult to himself, the story, common sense, and the Greek culture. Of all the incredible things he could've been, he became the most insulting of them all. I really cannot bear to see this fucking idiot and his punching-bag face, pretending to be Apollo. He’s not Apollo.
But if there is a guy I can see less than him, then let me introduce you to…

Kronos: Supreme Master of Wasted Potential
First of all: why is Kronos here? Why does this love story need Persephone to defeat a big bad guy? Just to show how cool and badass she is? Considering that their fight was a joke, it didn't work very well.
But okay, let's say we need a villain Because Yes. Kronos is still a huge waste of potential, probably the biggest waste of potential of the whole series until now. He could’ve been an interesting, multifaceted character, but he became a cartoonish supervillain har-har I want power.
Sigh.
But let’s take a step back and talk about the real, mythological Kronos. His story starts with his parents, Uranus and Gaia. The two had a lot of sons, including Titans (like Kronos) and Hecatonchires (monsters with fifty heads and one hundred arms). Disgusted by their monstrous nature or maybe just out of fear of being overthrown, Uranus chained his sons away into Gaia's womb (aka the Tartarus) so that they could never come out again.
Gaia suffered from this decision, so she devised a plan: she made a stone sickle, gathered her sons and tried to persuade them to castrate Uranus.
All of her sons were afraid of Uranus, Kronos was the only one brave enough to do it. And he was successful: he overthrew his father and became the new ruler of the universe, along with his wife/sister Rhea.
However, after becoming king, he didn't free all of his brothers as his mother wanted, but locked Hecatonchires and Cyclopes away once again. And so, Gaia told him that, one day, he would meet his father’s same fate and be overthrown by one of his own children.
Scared by these words, Kronos devised a plan: every time he had a new child, he took the baby from Rhea and swallowed them. Rhea was desperate and, in order to save her last son Zeus, she sought Gaia's help.
So Rhea gave birth to Zeus in a secret place, then handed Kronos a stone wrapped in clothes: he swallowed it, thinking that it was his son. This way, Zeus managed to escape the same fate as his siblings and was raised in secret, away from his father, until he was old enough to come back and fulfill his destiny.
And now, you may think Zeus overthrew his father with a sword and killed him and nah nah nah, myths are not that stupid and predictable. Zeus didn’t use violence to overthrow his father, but intelligence. He disguised himself to reach Kronos' court and, at the right time, he gave him a drink. That drink was an emetic (given by Gaia), that forced Kronos to throw up everything he swallowed, in reverse order: first the stone he thought was his last son, then Zeus' brothers and sisters.
After freeing his siblings, Zeus did what his father would've never done: he released the Hecatoncheires and the Cyclops to help him in the following battle against Kronos and the other Titans, a battle known as Titanomachy.
The war ended with the victory of the Olympians (i.e. Zeus and his siblings). Many Titans were confined in Tartarus, under the Hecatonchires' control, others were not imprisoned and kept appearing in other myths.
And Kronos? His fate differs depending on the myths. In some versions, he was imprisoned in Tartarus. But according to other, more interesting versions, Zeus forgave him after years, freed him and Kronos became king of the Elysian Fields: the famous earthly paradise reserved for the greatest Greek heroes.
Now. Just look at all of this beautiful, beautiful potential.
We have Gaia, a powerful goddess who overthrew two rulers of the universe, without moving a finger. A goddess strong and clever, but also a mother who wanted all of her children to be free - even the most hideous ones. She could’ve been a tragic figure, a master manipulator, or an evil schemer. Or all these things!
We have the Hecatonchires: fighters so powerful, to turn the tide of any battle. They could’ve been scary and intimidating, but also tragic monsters who just wanted to be accepted. They could’ve taught a beautiful lesson about the importance of accepting the ugly and giving everyone a chance to prove themselves.
Then we have Kronos. And Kronos had everything to be the greatest character.
Think about this concept: Kronos has always been afraid of Uranus, just like his brothers. He was just better at hiding his feelings. And that visceral fear is still inside him, it still haunts him after centuries, just like the memory of how he overthrew his father. And that fear takes the shape of paranoid thoughts about his father coming back to take the throne.
Kronos could’ve seen his father haunting him, but he could’ve also dissociated and seen himself as his father. In his altered state of mind, he could’ve been both the king and the one who overthrows him.
That could’ve made him a truly dangerous, unhinged character. A god who can’t see what’s real anymore, obsessed with the ghosts of his past. A god with nothing to lose and everything to gain. After all, if he kills his children again, the throne would be his once more. And, since he sees himself as himself and as his father at the same time, he would think that he is the "true king" coming back to take his throne.
That could’ve been awesome. Kronos could've been complex, desperate and multifaceted, a villain to pity and to be afraid of. A truly new, interesting version to know and love.
And do you have any idea how incredible Zeus could’ve been in this version? We could see him facing Kronos again, still as strong and determined as when he was young. And while everyone would expect him to kill Kronos, he would use his intelligence once again. He would prove to Kronos (and to everyone else) how intelligence is always superior to violence and how he's a good leader, despite his thousands of flaws.
Also, we could've seen Zeus talking to the defeated Kronos and making him the ruler of the Elysian Fields. We could've had a meaningful ending, in which Zeus understands Kronos' fears and shares his own.
I would’ve adored this, because according to the myth, Zeus was also supposed to be overthrown by a son! Hence why he swallowed Metis (his first wife) while she was pregnant.
The myth never truly clarifies who this supposed "son" is, but according to the different versions, Metis was pregnant not with a son, but with a daughter. A daughter who, one day, would be born, full grown, from Zeus' head. A daughter who would become Zeus' favorite child: Athena.
Honestly? I ADORE the idea that there was never a son to overthrow Zeus, but a daughter. And she would not overthrow his father by violence like her grandfather or by intelligence like her father, but by love. Athena doesn't need to take the throne from her father physically, she doesn't even need to sit on that throne: not when her father loves her more than anything else.
And I love the idea that Zeus is aware of that. He knows his daughter is his weakness. He knows that, if she asks, he will willingly give her that throne, because he loves her too much. And I would've loved to see him sharing these thoughts with the defeated Kronos. It could've been a beautiful moment, to see Zeus talking with the fatherly figure he always missed from his life. It could've led to a beautiful, meaningful ending for a dramatic story.
But can you see the problem here? This concept works for a story about Zeus, not about Hades and Persephone! These two have nothing to do with Kronos! Heck, even Rachel Smythe knows it, considering she had to pull a stupid plot point out of thin air, to explain why Kronos would give a damn about Persephone!
In case you were wondering: yes, the fertility-magical-power-battery-thing is bullshit. Gods don’t need a magical battery to be powerful. And no, fertility goddesses are not rare either: Aphrodite, Demeter, Hera, even Artemis are just a few of the fertility goddesses in Greek mythology. Kronos could’ve picked his favorite from a large pool, instead of becoming an absolute creep with Persephone in the stupidest fight of all time.
And speaking of that, two words on the supposed “fight”. First of all, apologies to all fights for being associated with this thing, because this was anything but a fight: it was a cartoonish conversation accompanied by the umpteenth sexualization of Persephone, who first appeared fully naked, then with a dress so stupid to defy the laws of physics and perspective.
And if you don’t believe me, please see it by yourself: this is how the dress was supposed to be, according to episode 75
This is how it ended up. Apparently, the Fates didn’t predict how huge Persephone’s boobs would be and the neckline didn’t grow accordingly: I feared to see one of them slipping out from it anytime during the “fight”
Also, please appreciate how Persephone is turned to the side, but the dress’ stupidly huge neckline is shown from the front, otherwise we would’ve seen her full naked boobs.
And that stupid neckline kept bothering me throughout the whole “fight”, because it kept changing size. Check the episodes and see it by yourself: sometimes it’s smaller, other times it’s wider and it keeps moving in impossible ways. It drove me insane.
But since we’re talking about drawings, please allow me a very brief parenthesis about them too.
_______________________________
The drawings are a joke
I am not an artist. I can barely draw a straight line by hand. But I studied art history, perspective, proportions and colors, so I’m not completely clueless.
But you don’t need to be clueless, to notice how bad the drawings became. If you have two eyes and saw another human being in your life before, then you can notice by yourself how bad they are.
It’s not a secret that Lore Olympus’ art style changed over time. In the beginning, this comic was characterized by a lot of straight lines and geometric shapes, alternating and mixing with gentle curves. There were blur effects, colored outlines, a lot of details that gave an overall dreamy, ethereal vibe to every chapter (like the soft glow that accompanied the gods).
But as the story progressed, these elements disappeared. The geometric shapes gave way to an overall “softness” and roundness. The dreamy vibes and blur effects were replaced by sharper, clearer drawings. A distinct black outline now marks every character.
And speaking of characters, they were the ones who changed more. Lore Olympus always had funny, silly faces but the characters were also able to be serious and look natural. Now all we have are grotesque faces: the characters are a collection of caricatures and no one has a normal expression anymore. Check by yourself, by confronting a random episode of the third act with the first one: they’re two different worlds.
The disproportions were common too, since episode one. But at least they were somehow plausible, while now they’re completely absurd. It’s as if Mrs Smythe completely forgot what a human being looks like.
And this is pretty evident in how all characters became a rough draft of the two protagonists: all women got Persephone’s face, all men become buff and huge, with wide-ass shoulders and teeny tiny heads. This is particularly obvious at the end of season 2 / start of season 3, when we see some of the funniest images ever, like Hades with a tiny head and shoulders as wide as the entire USA
Or this hilariously bad image of Zeus with clown shoes and a head as big as his deformed hand.
No excuse can justify these drawings: no one is running after Mrs Smythe, nor forcing her to draw, and people are paying her real money to work on this webcomic. The least she can do is draw something that doesn’t look like a bad distortion of a human being.
Unless this isn’t her drawing, but her staff’s work. In that case, they are still paid to do their job, right? Or do they think this story is a joke and decide to show how much of a joke it is, by turning everyone into a grotesque caricature?

In conclusion
Lore Olympus is hilarious because of how bad the writing is. It’s a manual example of how not to write a climax for your story. It’s a perfect demonstration of how you can still fail, even with great characters with endless possibilities. It’s a list of all the mistakes you can make as an artist.
If you’re a writer or an artist in general, please check Lore Olympus and study it. Here you will find everything you should never do and all the mistakes you should never make.
As a writer myself, I appreciate Lore Olympus, because I need works that teach me what I shouldn’t do. Good teachers are useful, but bad ones are even more useful, because it’s thanks to them that I can learn and grow and make better stories. Lore Olympus might be a failure from an artistic and writing point of view, but it might also serve as a foundation, from which other people can develop better ideas.
Actually, it already did it! Do you want to read a better story, rose from the disappointing ashes of Lore Olympus? Then check Lore Rekindled and @genericpuff: you will find their work here on Tumblr. They planned everything ahead and it’s pretty clear by reading it. The characters make more sense, the events have a more logical explanation. And the art style is much, much better than the last Lore Olympus.
We will meet again for the third and (for now) final post about this series, a much-needed post about the protagonists of this story: Hades, Persephone and Demeter.

The older Olympians being siblings
Demeter: I am a ninja. Hades: No, you’re not. Demeter: Did you see me do that? Hades: Do what? Demeter: Exactly. -
Hera: *Hugs Zeus from behind* Hera: *Tucks Zeus's hair behind his ear* Hera, whispering: Eat all the frosted animal crackers again and they'll never find your body. -
Hades: You’re a horrible person! Zeus: Maybe. But I’m rich and I’m pretty, so it doesn’t really matter. -
Zeus: I trusted you! Poseidon: Why? -
Poseidon: Why is Hera making me do the dishes again? You haven’t washed them in a week, Hades! Hades: It’s because I’m Hera’s favorite. Poseidon: I hate you. -
Hades: Aren’t you going to say, “Have a nice day?” Demeter: I don’t care if you have a pulse, much less a nice day. -
Hestia: Demeter won’t wake up, what do I do? Zeus: Did you try kicking her? Hestia: Yes. Zeus: I’m out of ideas. -
Demeter: Now, Hades, all of us are doing this because we care about you, okay? Hera: Except for me. I just wanted to see the look on your face. -
Hades: I’ll be famous one day, but for now I’m stuck in this house with a bunch of morons. -
Poseidon: Is it still visible? Where Demeter slapped me? Hestia: Your face looks like a don't walk signal. Hera: Your face looks like a photo negative for the hamburger helper box. Hades: A palm reader could tell Demeter's future by looking at your face. Zeus: The phrase 'talk to the hand cause the face ain't listening' doesn't work for you, because the hand is your face. Poseidon: …A simple 'yes' would've sufficed. -
Hestia: Are you drinking enough water? Poseidon: Sometimes my tears get in my mouth. -
Hera: Don’t say a word. Zeus: Fergalicious. Hera: Zeus, I said no words. Zeus: Oh, I see how it works. Two weeks ago, we’re playing Scrabble, it’s not a word, now suddenly it is a word because it’s convenient for you. -
Zeus: Have I ever told you that I love you with my whole heart? Hestia: For the love of all that is holy, I am not taking you to McDonalds. It’s 2am! Zeus: Mean. -
Hestia: Where is everyone? Hades: Hera had a nervous collapse, Demeter is looking after her, Zeus is trying to kill Poseidon, so I’m in charge. Hestia: Oh my god! Hades: I know, right?

A list of things I don’t like about the Percy Jackson show in no particular order because I’m a hater
- Sally talks back to Gabe. She’s supposed to be a silent rebel and book Sally would never jeopardize Percy’s safety because she’s angry with Gabe. Because I think the writers forgot, the WHOLE reason Gabe is there is because she is protecting Percy with his presence
- Annabeth is too stoic. Obviously, tv Annabeth has emotions and expresses them but it’s very limited in my opinion. Book Annabeth is emotional about everything. She is quick to anger, pride, sadness and to not show it because she’s ‘too smart for that’ is dumb. She’s 12 and emotions are normal
- Instead of Percy seeing the fates cut Luke’s string, it’s annabeth. Annabeth may be closer with Luke, but it should not be her to be aware of Luke’s fate. She’s too close to Luke to be analytical. Percy seeing it made him realize the prophecy is about Luke. Percy is the main character and should give Luke the knife. Also, Annabeth giving Luke the knife wouldn’t be nearly as meaningful because she’s always had faith he would turn around; even after he trapped her under the sky in titans curse. Percy trusted Luke to do the right thing at the exact right time
- Grover is a whole different character. The only example you need to know he’s not book Grover is tv Grover straight up lying/manipulating the god of war to his face. Book Grover is brave but not like that. He has too much respect and fear for the gods. Don’t get me wrong, I like tv Grover, he’s just not accurate to the book
- Misdirect of Clarisse being the lightning thief. What was even the point? Just seemed very random
-Fight scenes were lacking. I can’t entirely explain it, but I was bored for every one of them. Hate to bring the movies into this, but at least the movies had interesting fight scenes that had me on the edge of my seat
- Poseidon was basically a saint in the show, which is a big no no. I’m not saying he can’t be likeable, but Poseidon was NOT that nice. First of all, he wouldn’t go against Zeus like that. Not for Sally, and certainly not for Percy. He would do some minor rebelling, but he would not directly fight or disobey Zeus for either of them.
- Despite the last point, they showed too much of the Olympian’s bad sides. They absolutely would do all of this stuff in the show and more, but Percy shouldn’t be made aware of this yet. Percy knows the gods aren’t great in book 1, but he doesn’t quite know the extent until he finds out about the story of the oracle in book 5. This is why he’s more bitter in heroes of Olympus. He knows more about the god’s bad sides. If book 1 Percy knew/saw all the stuff about the tv show gods, then he probably would’ve led his own rebellion against the gods and Kronos.
- Gabe’s death? Come on. What happened to ‘If my life is going to mean anything, I have to live it myself’ (don’t know if that’s the exact quote). Sally deserved to kill Gabe. Percy could’ve done it, but Sally made the choice for it to be her. Ignoring the fact that Gabe wasn’t abusive, just a general jerk so he didn’t deserve to die, but also, the death being an accident felt easy. Sally killed her husband and she had zero remorse for it. She used his dead statue body to sell and use the money to go back to college and follow her dream of writing a book, while also meeting the real love of her life, Paul Blofis
- Kind of made this point already, but I’d like to specifically point out Athena being too cruel. Not to say she isn’t cruel, because she is. However, the show made it clear too early on. Annabeth is the favorite child up until mark of Athena, that’s why she’s so distraught over her hat losing its invisibility power. Annabeth always had Athena’s respect up until that point. Athena wants to protect Annabeth from Percy in the original series. She would not just try and kill her. At least, not in book 1
- Changing Medusa’s story. I understand to a degree why they did it. There’s been a lot of talk the past few years on social media about what Medusa’s story means to them. They did show Medusa as a victim, but immediately disregarded it because she uses it as an excuse to… kill children for no reason. Might as well have kept the original story in at that point. Not to mention Poseidon sucks, but only in this story, and he’s a saint for the rest of the show. Feels like that makes it worse
- Deadline didn’t matter. They miss it, but it doesn’t matter for no reason. Every book has a deadline, including in every spinoff so what’s going to happen with future seasons? Is the timeline going to be ignored because it was fine the first time? Or are they going to backtrack and say, ‘Ok, THIS time limit matters. Ignore the fact there was an exception the first time’
- Luke is too tamed. Too apologetic. He’s supposed to be angry. So sure he is right that nothing will stand in his way. Not any friend or family could talk him down at this point. We’re not supposed to sympathize with him. Not yet. He is the main villain at this point and there should be no sign of redemption yet. May’s story (his mom) happened way too soon. It was told in the last book for a reason. So Luke could gain sympathy and make Percy question his side; he does question it but doesn’t “trust” Luke until he gives him the knife 100-200 pages later.
- Annabeth was there for Luke’s betrayal. She should not be there because Annabeth is supposed to be a Luke defender for the whole series basically. ‘Luke was wrong, but he can change’ basically. I don’t know how she’s supposed to defend him when she experiences his betrayal firsthand instead of just hearing he betrayed everything she believes in. This is important because it’s the main conflict between Percy and annabeth through the series; Annabeth’s loyalty to Luke. Also, little side note: This is an example of tv Annabeth being too stoic. Book Annabeth would do what she’d have to in this situation, but she’d be a crying mess. Which is fine! Having emotions is normal!
- Dialogue is stiff. I don’t know why it is, but some things just don’t flow. Even direct quotes from the books doesn’t feel right sometimes. Maybe it’s because they rushed filming and should’ve done more takes to get it right? I don’t know. I don’t doubt the actors talents so I’m not blaming them. Walker Scobell did great in the Adam’s Project and he was only 12 I believe! He didn’t have a single line that felt stiff in that movie but his lines along with the other mains seemed a little off at times.
- Kind of goes along with last point; some dialogue is accurate to the characters, but not in the context it’s used in the show. Here’s an example that someone else pointed out and I agree with them completely. Percy’s line about Thalia having a pine cone’s fate is so out of character. Would Percy say that to Thalia in Titan’s curse? Probably. But would book 1 Percy insult and dishonor Thalia’s death after finding out she sacrificed herself for her friends? Absolutely not. Percy thought her story was brave and tragic. Percy would say that line in other cases, but he would not say it under those circumstance.
- Kind of the opposite of previous points, but why is Hades so nice?? They made him into a silly guy and play it off for laughs. It’s supposed to be a serious scene. There’s humor everywhere else in the series so use that humor somewhere else. Hades is angry because Percy ‘stole’ his helm and hates him for the rest of the series. How are they going to make this guy lock Percy up in the last Olympian and fight him? This is the guy Nico is scared of, which is why it was brave he stood up to him. This is the guy who told his son that he wished he died instead of his sister. Just doesn’t seem right
- They figure everything out too fast. They figured out who Medusa and Procrustes is right away. This series is kind of like an introduction to Greek mythology to kids who don’t know anything about it. It’s about learning, but also building up the tension. Knowing something is wrong, but not knowing what. I don’t care that they were all told Greek myths growing up and that 2 of them have been training for years. Learning something in the classroom doesn’t mean they will automatically know what to do in a real life scenario. Monsters are supposed to TRICK. That’s what happens in almost every book.
- Why were there four pearls only for them to lose one? When I first read the book, I didn’t think about them needing more than three so it felt super unnecessary
- I know I’m pointing out too much about each god that appears but I don’t care. Ares admitting he loves his family is soooo weird. Pretty sure he would take over and destroy most of them
- tv show watchers don’t know how close Luke and Annabeth are. Those two barely interact and they tell us a couple times they’re close from lines like ‘She’s like a sister’ and whatnot, but it doesn’t accurately portray the care they have for one another. It doesn’t help that Annabeth barely reacted to his betrayal in the show

Collection of wisdom saga thoughts:
(None of these are in chronological order it’s just whatever pops in my head :P)
- Athena calling ody her friend in we’ll be fine vs ody calling Athena his mentor in monster????? That compared to my goodbye???? Fucking brutal. They’ve both changed so much after losing each other bro. OW
- LOVE that in little wolf the suitors are always using the chorus as like a taunt, bit it never fits into their dialogue it just kinda interrupts it but then Athena comes along and the chorus ties directly into what she’s saying, like “don’t go down without a- fight little wolf fight!” It’s really cool how it shows his opposition vs his allies I love it
- also just. so many shrimp emotions brought out during legendary and we’ll be fine. guh
- the video game aspects were so cool!!!!!! Love the one on one with Telemachus and antinous with the mortal combat-esk animation that went along with it!! And in god games how every time Athena convinced a god it played like a level up sound effect!!! Suuuper interesting :D
-CALYPSO!!!!! HER!!!! The first time ody has faced an enemy that doesn’t mean him any harm (harm as in like. trying to kill him, obvi she still did some fucked up shit to him) but might actually be the worst one out of all of them because he just misses his wife so damn badly. Don’t even get me STARTED on the fuckin “ody” and “open arms” shit bro that HURT
- Did I mention I love Telemachus? I love Telemachus. He’s so ambitious and so so kind and has such a good heart I adore himmmmmm <3 Despite never really being able to meet his dad aside from as an infant, he looks up to him so much and respects him and wants to be like him, and I’m sure that’s all Penelope’s doing <333 the wife and husband ever, actually. they invented heterosexuality and true love
-GOD GAMES!!!!!!! While I’ve seen plenty of understandable criticisms, like it being too short or fast-paced, I think jay did the absolutely best he possibly could with it!! It’s so fun and gives us such a good glimpse into the thoughts and priorities of all of the gods and ATHENA!!! WHAT A QUEEN!!! UNMASKED WITTY AND QUEEN OF THE BEST STRATEGIES WE’VE SEEN FRRRRR!!! Also I’m fuckin obsessed with ares’s voice it sounds so coollllll AND ZEUS’S GROWL BROOOO it’s so impressive I wish I could do that. I’m also gonna have the way they say Aphrodite and hera in my head forever I owe them my life
- I know jay talked about it in a short, but I actually really enjoyed the differing perspective!!! Don’t get me wrong I miss my boy ody and I’d love to know more details about his situation but I’m so incredibly happy we got an Athena pov I have so much more appreciation for her she might be my favorite character now
- I’ll never get over all of the unique character motifs and just how unique they sound. Like how Circe and calypso sound so similar yet so incredibly different, just like their stories!!! Jay you legend
Ok that’s all for now back to listening on repeat

The Chain with My Hero Academia Quirks
Quirks and info about them are under the cut
Time - Mortal Essence
Mortal Essence was something I came up with for my Percy Jackson OC but then I thought of it and was like HELL YEAH so it’s Time’s now
Basically, in my head, god’s have their essence that mortals can’t see or they will die instantly. Like with Semele, Dionysus’s mother, she saw Zeus’s essence and disintegrated immediately
In contrast, a mortal essence is an essence that can make the user have powers on par with gods, or turn the user into a god temporarily
We all know about Fierce right? You know, the war god that can temporarily take over Time’s body? Well, Fierce is Time’s quirk.
Sky - Goddess Guardian
Ok…so maybe he’s the goddess’s guardian but shhhhhhh
This quirk was inspired by Demon Snow, an ability from Bungo Stray Dogs
Basically, Sky has a goddess or an avatar of a goddess who protects him and can and will kill you should he ask her to
He’s best friends with her, don’t worry
I mean, Sun was also in the academy guys, she can and will fuck you up should you try and hurt Sky
That being said, Sun is and isn’t Sky’s quirk
I might say that it’s Farore that’s his guardian instead of Hylia because his girlfriend is Hylia(technically)
Twilight - He technically already sort of has one(Wolfie) but Essence
If you watched My Hero or just know Todoroki’s backstory or you watched Heroes Rising you’ll know that quirks are hereditary
Twilight has sort of inherited Time’s quirk
BUT
He sort of has Malon’s quirk too
Malon has a quirk that allows her to command any animal to do something that she speaks to
But anyway, Twilight’s essence quirk allows him to turn into anything that he has DNA to as long as it is in his system
Plot twist
He can only turn into animals which makes things a little weird for him sometimes
His favorite for in his wolf form(obviously) he enjoys growling at people and he thinks that he looks cool
Warriors - Frost Blades
Warriors is just an ice user. I can sense it in my bones
Frost blades are mostly what they sound like
Blades made out of frost. If he’s mad enough and his quirk loses control, they can be solid ice
How the blades work is, no one but him can hold the blades, without the coldness of his hands, the frost will disperse
Knowing the Captain, he mostly doesn’t rely on them. He’s more like Aizawa, he uses his quirk when he feels like he must
Warriors quirk is mostly lackluster, but trust that he can still very much beat your ass without it
Wild - also technically already has one(bullet time) but Spiritual Connection
Spiritual Connection was thought of because of his whole thing with the other Champions
Wild can see and talk to spirits. He can also use their quirks, if they allow him to take it
Spirits love being around him, and he has probably been suspected of having AFO at some point, but he just has a lot of dead friends
Because why have living friends, when you can have dead ones? :3
Wind - Wind Bombs
Wind deserves bomb rights.
Wind bombs are small cyclones that can and will explode, should Wind make them
He probably blew a kid up once when his quirk first spawned
Parents hate him, but he loves his quirk
It’s a nice warning when you get hit was a wind bomb in your chest (:
Hyrule - Cloned
Hyrule can clone only inanimate objects
You know, like how his sword sort of has a shadow? I don’t feel like getting a picture
But when his enemy gets hit with his sword’s silhouette? Yeah, that’s his quirk
He clones money a fuck too
He’s a rebellious teen probably…idk
Legend - Alteration
Inspired by the whole painting shenanigans in albw
But anyway, Legend’s body is able to adapt to any environment
If he needs to keep up with a long legged person, boom, he has longer legs than they have now and now they have to jog to keep up
Need to get your phone that fell in the crack of your bed? Boom. Thin arm
Need to slip into a crack in a wall to kill that roach, bam, small and skinny
My man is more fantastic than Mr. Fantastic
Four - Mental manipulation
You know how the colors have their respective emotions…but not really…I think
Like Blue is usually characterized as angry a lot
Like that
So with Mental Manipulation, Four can alter someone’s emotions or thoughts
It’s that simple
You’re feeling depressed today? Nah. Have some choccy milk and be immensely happy.
Your significant other is making you nervous with how much you want to kiss them? Nah, Four got you, have some more confidence
You think you’re a sane human being? Nah. Go commit arson
So…yeah
There it is
The Chain and their My Hero Academia quirks
Thank you for reading :3
If you have different ideas for their quirks, I’d love to here them in the comments
Anyway, thanks for reading

LO APPRECIATION:
Okay, to get my mind off of the sick shit that I keep realizing about Hades and Persephone’s relationship I’ve decided to come back to these. This character, luckily didn’t get as much hate as Leuce did but there were still some haters presence like all characters who aren’t brainwashed into thinking Hades and Persephone are great, didn’t deserve the cold shoulder that some people gave him because he’s just too majestic and wonderful to even be discussed in a negative way. But let me stop stalling so we can talk about and admire one of my many favorite characters, the lovely and breathtaking Hypnos.
Yes, yes everyone clap he’s great I swear. Honestly when we first saw him I loved his sense of humor, he’s such a character and it’s refreshing seeing other characters actually speak their true opinions and be so outspoken. I missed that cause we haven’t gotten a call out like that since Artemis and Zeus, I’m not sure if we’ll see them too much going forward. I just absolutely love laughing at everything he said to Hades cause it was genuinely funny to me, I haven’t had a good decent laugh like that in this series so it was nice that Hypnos gave me my first.
Next I wanna talk about his design cause I enjoyed it enough. I wish that there was something different about it and yes, I know that he’s supposed to be Thanatos’ twin but I also wish there was something about him that makes him stand out from Thanatos. Like you can be twins but there has to be some sort of distinction between you so that people can tell who’s speaking and who’s being shown like for example it could be in clothes, shoes, favorite colors, accessories, music taste, etc. But anyways, besides that I actually liked the design for what it was I thought he looked really graceful and elegant but he also just exudes calmness. Which is pretty neat because he’s the god of sleep so that’s really in character for him.
Also I loved his hair, something about this very long flowy wavy effect he has going on is really selling it for me. I enjoy looking at it because it just looks so cool, like his hair is floating almost. Just like Thanatos I love this sort of color pallet where the grey and blue of their skin is contrasting with the white of their hair. It’s so pretty to me.
Anyways, that’s the end of this appreciation for now but best believe I’ll waiting and losing sleep until I get to see him again. Hopefully we will but who knows, he could’ve only been used for the Kronos investigation which would really crush me. He has a lot of potential and I really wanna see the tension between him and Hades, I mean there’s gotta be some more animosity between them since Hades’ mistreatment of his brother. I feel like it would really muster up an honest apology from Hades that doesn’t involve making the whole conversation about him, something about Hypnos tells me he won’t stand for that happening again. Also speaking of Hypnos calling him out, I hated that everyone got mad at him for that it was true after Persephone got banished he crumbled and neglected his responsibilities as a king and allowed his whole realm to be completely in shambles. At some point he’s got to take responsibility because he really did neglect them and only thought about her, I get missing someone but you were a king before you knew Persephone even existed so you can definitely continue to be king without her, you’ve been doing it for this long grow up please you have a kingdom to run first you can get into the bed of a forever 19 year old later.

@ymfingsteadilyon & @poetic----nonsense
Okay, to start with, here’s the quote of how the myth is related in the show (with the irrelevant conversational bits removed).
“Whoa, whoa, the Isis myth isn't just about some goddess, it's about what people are willing to risk for love... Her husband Osiris was killed by his brother Sade out of jealousy… Egyptians believe that a person's soul remained in their heart, so when Sade dismembered Osiris's body and scattered all the pieces ... The mighty Isis tried to resurrect Osiris. So she recovered his body, piece by piece, but she was never able to find the burial jar containing his heart. And to make sure that she never did, Sade trapped her spirit in an amulet… because of his lost soul, Osiris was doomed to rule the underworld for all eternity. If Isis succeeds in resurrecting him, his kingdom will also rise. She will literally unleash hell on Earth.”
So we’re just going to set aside the unexamined weirdness of the Egyptian gods being real because it’s not that out of line with the tone of Smallville, plus Wonder Woman is implied to exist in this universe which means the Greek gods are real, but it’s still weird that no one reacts to it.
Next there are a lot of more minor nitpicks, like for some reason they changed Set’s name to Sade, and Set’s reason for killing Osiris, when one is given, is usually revenge based, and not mentioned in the excerpt above but the episode repeatedly says Osiris was torn into 1000 pieces when the largest number in the actual myth is 42 (for the 42 provinces of Egypt), and there is no mention of the other deities that helped Isis reassemble him, stuff like that.
Then we have the more major notes of reducing Isis down just to some kind of ultimate love goddess when yes that was a huge part of her role in that particular myth, but my girl does so much more than that. And of course the Hollywood favorite or equating any afterlife to Hell, love that.
But then we get the big one which is that Osiris was never resurrected??? Was Jesus also never resurrected in the Smallville universe? Does Greek mythology just end with Kronos eating all his kids, including Zeus? Osiris does get resurrected, that’s a pretty important thing that happened. He’s the lord of the dead and *rebirth*. You know, because he was resurrected. Yes, it doesn’t last for long and he goes on to rule Duat (afterlife) afterwards, but he does get resurrected. Does or Horus not exist in the Smallville universe?
Wow, I thought the Smallville version of Prometheus was off, but their version of Isis and Osiris is something else.

just some headcanons i have for the pjo triton i fantasize about in my head
okay so the main thing about triton is that he takes his role as prince and heir SERIOUSLY. like you dont see any of zeus’ kids rattling on about how they’re the prince/ss of olympus right? they’re gods before they are monarchs, but triton is built different. his primary loyalty is towards serving atlantis and his father-king, poseidon, rather than personifying his mantle as the god of calm seas.
this also means that triton doesn’t really care about messing with humans like the other gods do. in fact he doesn’t really care about humans at all. he cannot fathom why poseidon has so many human affairs and why he regularly leaves atlantis to meddle in the mortal world. for triton, having rule over all the earth’s seas and oceans is a large enough domain as it is without worrying about whatever the land dwellers do.
actually triton doesnt much care for anyone outside of the sea, other gods included. why would he? he spends all his time in the ocean. this also means that though he acknowledges zeus’ role as king of all gods, he does so grudgingly. he’s more likely to see zeus just as poseidon’s annoying younger brother rather than anything as familial as uncle or anything as reverent as the most powerful.
because triton takes his princely role so seriously, it makes him a bit... haughty? dude’s just used to constantly being surrounded by people who have to respect him and take care of life’s meager hardships for him. he’s prideful and he doesn’t really see that as a fault
look, he’s really proud of the fact that he’s a prince, okay. he looks at the other gods like ares and hermes and apollo and he thinks, “these kids are not acting like they are children of the king god.” triton embracing his princely status is, to him, embracing the responsibility of what it means to be a child of the sea and a child of poseidon. he knows that a lot of creatures and communities depend on the sea to survive, and making sure that sea is eternally habitable for all of them means stepping the fuck up. poseidon is the king of the ocean, and the ocean harbors so much: both beauty and monstrous things, the bright colors of the surface and the dark denizens of the deep. and because poseidon is his father, triton believes that his duty as a son is acknowledging the weight of that responsibility and doing his part in keeping the peace. part of that philosophy bled into how he raised athena, and he’s the main reason why athena takes her role in giving wise counsel to zeus so seriously too: they’re both well aware of the fact that their fathers are very powerful gods and often far too carefree with their power.
so triton can come off as rather straight-laced, and blunt, and a bit of an impatient dick that’s willfully ignorant of anything outside the ocean. but all that stems from a deep sense of duty, and to the citizens of atlantis at least, triton is a fair and just ruler that they can always count on to take over when poseidon isn’t around.
and like, at least part of that duty was instilled in him because of amphitrite. poseidon may be the ruler of the seas but amphitrite actually is the sea itself, and when the waves crash and hurricanes form and the tide wanes both amphitrite and triton feel that echo in their godly bones.
he’s the only one of his siblings that is primarily worshipped in connection to their father -- as poseidon’s herald -- rather than his domain, so by nature he feels a stronger pull towards atlantis than they do. he’s also a bit of an ass to his siblings tbh. in his view, they’re all neglecting their duties in some way and he’s eternally resigned to picking up the slack.
and because i think of triton as dutiful, i also think his contempt of percy is less because he’s jealous that percy is the favorite, and more because he knows percy doesn’t truly understand what it means to be poseidon’s son. like yeah yeah he’s the son of the sea god and he exhibits great and fearsome power over the waters blah blah, but does percy know the power structure in atlantis? the daily lives of their people? does percy does his duty as the son of the king and assist in atlantean government and politics? no! and triton is sick of the way that poseidon’s demigod children never seek out to help atlantis, and the way that poseidon has never really cared about pushing his demigod children to even care about their kingdom.
once triton warms up to percy though, he takes it upon himself to teach his younger brother everything he needs to know. and yes he thinks that percy is annoying and a brat but he also sees that percy is genuinely caring. one of his new favorite things to do is teaching percy how to fine-tune his control over the currents, which is a skill the demigod has never really needed to develop overland. it helps soothe the grief he still carries for pallas.
i subscribe heavily to the idea that percy had to stay in atlantis for a while to cope with tartarus. and i also see poseidon instructing triton to watch over percy as he sleeps, mindful of the nightmares that he always has that had only gotten worse since his time in the pit and the way that percy can sometimes lose control of his powers during them. as the god of calm seas, triton knows a thing or two about soothing a storm. as he grows to like percy more and more, he also takes it upon himself to play a light lullaby for his brother, the music filled with a calming magic that lets percy rest without fear.
by the end of percy’s stay, percy gets convinced to visit atlantis more regularly. and triton always shows up to take him to and from the palace every time.

If the Mighty Nein went to Camp Half-Blood!
What’s this? My two favorite fandoms? Couldn’t be. Enjoy this brainchild; VM, BH, and EXU: Kymal characters to follow soon
Fjord
Cabin #3 - Poseidon
This one is the most obvious one. My man is a sailor who got his powers from a water god, there’s no one else he really could be.
I think that we keep his orphan status, and have a satyr be sent to sniff out potential demigods in orphanages, where he found little Fjord. He came to camp when he was fairly young, and lived there year-round starting at about nine years old. However, I don’t think he would have been claimed until three years later when he was twelve, despite obviously displaying water powers before that.
As for his powers, he inherited hydro and cryokinesis (manipulation of water and ice) as well as underwater breathing and extreme temperature resistance. He did not gain the ability to speak with equine animals, but he can communicate with sea life. His weapon and fighting style are similar to the show; he has a falchion.
At camp, he’s a pretty chill guy. People might originally be intimidated by his ‘Big Three’ status, but he’s actually pretty gentle, and does a lot of work with welcoming new campers and making them feel like they have a home and are safe, because that’s what older campers did for him when he first arrived.
Beau
Cabin #1 - Zeus
I struggled to place Beau into a cabin. She could be with the Ares kids, or the Athena kids just as easily. But I ended up deciding on Zeus, because I think that his kids are just as combative, and she has lightning gloves. Also, she has Slow Fall, which could be retrofitted to flight.
Beau definitely still got into a lot of trouble and fights with Thoreau, who would have been her step-dad. I think her tendency towards acting first, thinking later (as a teen) would have led her into a fight that she couldn’t win on her own: one with a monster. She was rescued not by a satyr, but by another demigod, probably Dairon (who I would put into Athena’s cabin btw). She was claimed immediately when she got to camp, because she inexplicably managed to survive on her own all the way to sixteen.
Her powers are controlling the winds/fight and electrokinesis. Her fighting style is still very much so martial arts, and her weapons are a gift from Zeus: twin electric brass knuckles that allow her the chance to stun and shock her enemies.
At camp, she and Fjord have a kind of unlikely friendship. Everyone is friends with Fjord, whereas most people are afraid of Beau. She’s the daughter of Zeus who can and will punch anyone who crosses her, and is kind of mean. But to those who are her friends, she is unrelentingly loyal and kind. Many younger campers tell whispered stories of the blur of cobalt blue who’s mere presence had scared off people who were bullying them.
Caleb
Cabin # 20 - Hecate
I considered his place being with Hephaestus due to his affinity for fire, but he doesn’t exactly fit that mold. And as a wizard, Hecate is also a very good fit. And hey - magic fire is also good.
Caleb’s parents died when he was very young, around seven, in an accidental house fire, and he was taken in by his rich great-uncle, Trent Ikithon, who was abusive in every way, and gas-lit him into believing that his parents deaths were his, Caleb’s, fault. Eventually, when he was thirteen, he ran away from Trent, and before getting to camp, met up with Veth. She knew that she was a demigod at that point, and essentially took him in, very Luke and Thalia. They were discovered accidentally by a satyr who took them to camp, and he’s been there ever since.
Like all children of Hecate, Caleb possesses mystiokinesis (the ability to manipulate the Mist). While he has a natural affinity for creating fire, usually amber colored, he has a great interest in using the Mist to change things into other things, and not simply through illusion. While turning people into animals is easy enough for many in Cabin #20, Caleb is known to change the properties of things with uncanny skill and ability. (Besides the rest of his magical abilities.)
At camp, Caleb is seen as a bit of an oddball. He’s chronically anxious and dislikes being in groups of people. He has a magical cat that is always with him, and he can look through the eyes of, and is for some reason friends with the loud and abrasive Beauregard. Even among his siblings, he is quiet, mysterious, and kind of quietly intimidating, and is constantly asking Chiron for a quest to take care of “the monster who raised me.”
Veth
Cabin #7 - Apollo
Veth was very tricky for me. My first instinct was to put her in Hermes, for her sneakiness and love of taking trinkets. I considered putting her in Dionysus due to that iconic never-ending flask. But in the end, I thought I would honor her more positive traits, and focus on her skill in archery.
Veth has the misfortune to have been on her own for a long time, and knew specifically that she had been kicked out because of her demigod heritage. Knowing that she had powers and could use them allowed her to survive on her own, and later with Caleb before the two were taken to camp.
Veth’s talents from Apollo came not in the form of musical prowess or healing, but in the bow. While most of her siblings favor a longbow, she is uniquely proficient with her hand crossbow. Her accuracy is so uncanny, that she has never been known to miss a shot. Her crossbow was simply found in the armory collecting dust before Veth found it and decided to make it hers.
At camp, Veth is both an extremely friendly, and highly avoided character, due to her propensity to take shiny things. Usually nothing valuable, but she is known to be able to take the button off of someone’s coat - while they’re wearing it. However, she is a good friend to all who do right by her, and is extremely close friends with the brooding and quiet Caleb.
Jester
Cabin #11 - Hermes
Oh, Jester, Jester Jester. Somehow, every option is viable, and yet none work besides this one. She already has a god to look to for inspiration in Artagan, which is how I finally settled on the trickster Hermes.
Jester absolutely still grew up the same way, and the Ruby of the Sea is the Sally Jackson of this AU, and Hermes is also a criminal, so really, Gentleman vibes all around. However, unlike Sally, Marion sent her to camp when it became dangerous for her not to be trained in her powers. She spends summers at camp and goes home for the rest of the year.
But what powers does she get? I settled on being able to turn herself invisible for the trickery aspect, as well as having a natural affinity towards forgery. Besides her invisibility, her mere presence can make other people stealthier by proxy.
At camp, she is extremely popular and loved by all. She and Veth are known to run a detective agency of sorts at camp, and it’s unclear whether the two of them commit the crimes so that they have things to solve or not. Either way, she is always willing to lend an ear, or a hug, or this candy and pop that she stole from the nearest gas station before pranking someone else.
Mollymauk
Cabin #10 - Aphrodite
There’s something intrinsically Aphrodite about Mollymauk, just in the way that he holds himself. He sees himself as a canvas for beauty and art with all his tattoos, and adorns himself with baubles and jewelry.
Molly suffered a traumatic head injury when he was young that gave him complete anterograde amnesia for everything before the accident. It isn’t known who or where his biological family is, but he found a new home with a carnival that happened to be owned by a son of Dionysus named Gustav. Gustav recognized both him and Yasha as demigods, and after patching them up, took them to camp, so that they could have an actually life
Molly’s devil's tongue is reflected in the charmspeak that he inherited from his mother. Besides that, he also takes after her more fickle and vindictive side in the other abilities he gained. Unlike many of his siblings, he chooses to fight with swords, and he uses them to help channel these abilities. Molly’s blood allows him emotokinesis, or the manipulation of emotions. When shed, it allows him to project it outwards, and when contacted or consumed by a target, allows him to manipulate them specifically.
At camp, people are thankful that he isn’t malicious, because his abilities are truly scary to imagine in the wrong hands. He gets along well with the Dionysus kids and their revelry, and in general is fun loving and hates a dull moment. He and Jester often team up to raise the energy of the camp.
Caduceus
Cabin # 40 - Persephone
I waffled so hard between Hades and Demeter, death and plants, for this man before remembering how dumb I am and that the compromise was staring me in the face. The Queen of the Underworld and goddess of springtime: Persephone.
Cad’s upbringing was tricky to marry into this world’s setting. I think that he hasn’t known anywhere besides camp, and that Persephone specifically gave baby Caduceus to Chiron to figure out how to raise. Chiron contacted two of his former students. His parents were demigods themselves who had their own children, and happily adopted little Cad into their family with them. He eventually started staying at camp full time, but his whole family stays at camp during the summer.
Because his mother is the goddess of springtime, Caduceus is able to communicate with both plants and animals, and can grow plants and heal wounds. On the flip side, he is also able to raise skeletons like a child of Hades might. However, his springtime associated powers are stronger in the spring/summer and weaker in the fall/winter, and vice versa.
Caduceus is an extremely calming presence at camp. When one is exhausted from everything else that is happening, they can usually make their way to Cabin 40, nestled further into the woods than any other cabin, and have a cup of tea with him. He also is often found sitting and speaking with Hestia at her hearth, and of all of the demigods at camp, has the closest relationship with his godly parent. Persephone so rarely has demigod children that she definitely gives him a lot of attention.
Yasha
Cabin #5 - Ares
Wouldn’t it be fun to have sweet, gentle, Yasha be in Ares? People often wonder if he’s actually her dad until they see her filled with righteous fury and become practically unkillable in combat.
Yasha, was forced out of her home after the first monster attack when she was a child for “attracting demons.” Gustav found her all alone and kindly took her in. She and Molly became fast friends, and when Gustav realized their heritage, he took them to camp. She and Molly are very close, despite their polar opposite personalities,
As for her powers, when in combat, Yasha attains a nearly unmatchable spirit. Anyone who has ever attempted to defeat her in melee combat has walked away with fear in their eyes. This rage allows her to shrug off major wounds in the moment and keep fighting. The damage will catch up with her later of course, but she will keep fighting forever to protect her loved ones.
At camp, Yasha is pretty shy and closed off. She doesn’t get along particularly well with her cabin mates, and frequents the Demeter and Persephone cabins often to speak with them about flowers and enjoy the serenity. Many are afraid of her large sword and quiet and mysterious nature until they get to know her.
Essek
Cabin #6 - Athena
Of course I’m going to add in Essek. Literally, why wouldn’t I? Essek was surprisingly easy to place for me. He thinks that he’s the best choice for literally anything, loves knowledge and research, and hates anything illogical. For such a complex character, he is a textbook child of Athena
Essek was the child of a well-known senator, who in shame after having a magic baby show up on his doorstep, hid him away from the public eye as best as possible. Every time that Essek was ever noted by the public for questioning something that his parents supported in Congress, he caused a scandal for the family. Eventually, Essek began making deals for things his parents wouldn’t let him look into with their opponents in the next election, and in an attempt to keep Essek from losing his father’s senate seat, they shipped him away to camp, where he has remained ever since. (with the exception of when his father needs him to make some sort of appearance so people know he’s not dead).
As far as his abilities, I’m giving him straight up Matilda powers, because that much brain power, and he gets to move stuff around with his mind. Also, it fits into his graviturgy speciality from the show.
At camp, people don’t like Essek that much. They think he’s pretty aloof and stand-offish, but anyone who really knows him knows how much of a nerd he is.

I think personal loyalty is a fitting fatal flaw for Percy. Focus on personal. “To save a friend you would sacrifice the world” is what Athena tells him, and she’s absolutely right. Percy is absolutely loyal to his people, even when he shouldn’t be (cough cough Poseidon, more on that later) but while it’s not like he’s a dick to others, he is still a good guy who tries his best, he can often overlook others and isn’t good at prioritizing things. Or rather, he will always prioritize his own above all else. Like falling in tartarus with Annabeth. Loved it of course, he’s madly in love with her and will do anything for her, even possibly jeopardizing a world saving quest. Or during TLO after the fight on the bridge when Annabeth was hurt. His first priority was saving Annabeth, he grabbed Will (who’s brother had just fallen to his death, was maybe alive maybe not, we never will know) and brought him to Annabeth.
I never ever understood why Nico’s fatal flaw is supposed to be holding grudges. I am holding on to the fact that the only time it is mentioned it’s by Bianca, who says it’s a fatal flaw to most children of Hades. Which I’ll take as not being definitive, both because Bianca’s word on it isn’t necessarely law on it and because while it may be true for most, doesn’t mean it is Nico’s case. What grudges is he holding exactly??? He literally never does. Even when he should. Are we talking about his blaming Percy for his sister’s death? You know, when he was alone, homeless, ten/eleven, grieving and being manipulated by Minos and looking for someone to blame for his misfortune? Nevermind that the moment he does get the chance to talk to Bianca, and she tells him it’s her he’s mad with and not Percy, and if anything she’s the one to blame, he actually agrees rather soon. He doesn’t really keep blaming Percy beyond that. Not even a few days after that he risks his life to help Percy, he helps during the battle at camp. A camp he has nothing to gain in saving since he believes he doesn’t belong, but he still doesn’t think twice about fighting to save. Or what about when he found out Zeus killed his mother and tried to kill him and his sister, and still convinced his father to fight for the other gods? For someone who’s fatal flaw is supposed to be holding grudges, that would be a pretty big one to keep. But he doesn’t. He is ostracized by the 7 on the Argo II, and still offers to bring back the Athena Parthenos, nearly dying in the process. To help people who ostracized him, both the 7 and the two camps. WHAT GRUDGES IS HE HOLDING EXACTLY? ARE THE GRUDGES IN THE ROOM WITH US? If anything I’d pick either absolute loyalty, or absolute fairness as his fatal flaw. Since that’s what usually nearly gets him killed.
Getting back to Poseidon and Percy’s bias, I think one of the fun things about rereading the books at different points in life is seeing how much my opinion and interpretation of characters changes (Not Nico though, he was my favorite at 13 and still is). As a kid Poseidon seemed like a pretty good parent for a god, especially since we mostly see it from Percy’s biased POV. Growing older means realizing just how manipulative he is. He literally uses him as a tool. Percy sometimes realizes this sometimes chooses to ignore it. And that’s a recurrent thing with demigods that I think is very interesting. Their relationship with gods is often strained, because demigods are tired of being used as pawns by godly parents who never seem to care about them. But at the same time they are still children who crave their parents approvation. Objectively they know their parents are bad parents, they know they’re often not good people either, but they can’t help wanting to please them, to make them proud. Calypso in BOTL shows light on their hypocrisy. Percy is surprised she fought for the titans because titans=bad, but she fought for them because it’s her family, and isn’t Percy doing the same? Not all titans are bad and not all gods are good, and the side they’re on is really only about their personal loyalties. Gods are not really that good and don’t really care about their kids becomes painfully obvious in TOA, where Apollo’s whole arc is that gods should do better, that they should care. And that while the kids sometimes try to find excuses for their parents, because who wants to accept that their parent just doesn’t care about them, sometimes that’s exactly how it is. Gods care about some of the kids, they completely forget about others. Gods help sometimes and are merciful, and other times they are absolutely monstrous. Good moment to point out I believe Luke was absolutely right in rejecting the gods, he had every right, but he was very wrong in going about it by supporting someone who was no better if not worse than the gods. Also talking about Luke (and others) I think that’s another example of Percy being blindsided by his own loyalties. Once Luke sacrifices himself he is immediately considered an hero, same with Selena, in a very black and white way. Good for Percy to forgive them, and Annabeth too, not to good on them to blame those who do not forgive them. Yes they had reasons, yes they were misguided, yes in the end they did the right thing. But every choice before then still had consequences, still caused death and pain to others. And by them refusing to let anyone call them a traitor or say something bad about them, they are forcing others to forgive them, which is not their choice to make.
I got sidetracked but the point with Poseidon is that much like othe demigod children, I think Percy just really wants his dad to be good, to honestly like him. It’s a childish wish that makes sense since he’s still only 17/18 by TOA and TSATS. He doesn’t want to admit his wrongdoings and tries to blindly justify it, because if he truly did look at his father behavior, that would open up a lot of questioning. Questioning his morals, his love, the gods in general, and who are we fighting for really. And that’s a lot. So even if he sometimes realizes Poseidon only seems to call when he needs him, he’s done bad things, he prefers to ignore it and defend him. Because if he didn’t he’d have to question who and what exactly is he fighting for. Hades on the other hand, is basically the scapegoat of the family. It’s okay to hate on Hades, because look at him, he’s always on his own, all gloomy, surrounded by death. Nobody likes death. Death is bad, because people grieve and suffer from it. Everyone punches down on Hades, so it’s okay to join the bandwagon. Hades is the scapegoat. The lightingbolt was stolen? Mh probably Hades, that guy’s fishy. What do you mean proof, have you seen him? Nevermind that by the myths Hades is actually the chillest and least problematic of the big three. Not unproblematic for sure, but by far the least when compared to his brothers.
People’s prejudice against the underworld definitely applies to Nico too. Percy and the rest are not immune to the propaganda. Not only as OP says Percy is always suspicious of Nico since finding out he’s a child of Hades. Always questioning his motives. They all are. The amount of times I’ve seen people in their pov’s calling him ‘shady’ and ‘untrustworthy’ with absolutely no basis for it. Like when they voted on saving Nico or not. Wich is absolutely insane, and I absolutely believe that if it were anyone but Nico it wouldn’t have been a question. They’re heroes, they’re always saving people, even questionable people sometimes, even when they know it’s a trap. Take Piper’s dad hostage situation. They knew it was a trap, they knew Piper had lied to them, but they saw were she was coming from and never thought twice about saving her dad, despit it possibly jeopardizing the quest, despite it being an obvious trap. Nico is if anything Hazel’s brother and that alone would warrant saving without second guessing. He’s also Percy’s friend whom he’s known since he was 10. He’s someone who repeatedly helped during the war. A powerful valuable ally. But they hesitate. Why? You’re the greatest heroes of your generation and you’re actually considering leaving a 13 year old boy to leave a horrible death at the hands of the giants? But Nico is ‘untrustworthy’. He’s ‘shady’. Oh well, he knew about both camps and didn’t say anything. Guess who else knew about both camps. The gods. Lupa. Chiron. No one ever called them untrustworthy because they didnt’ say anything. Because there are bigger things at play, and they swore they wouldn’t tell. But the same grace apparently doesn’t apply to Nico. Nevermind that Nico being entrusted with information this sensitive actually proves he’s probably very trustworthy Kudos to Reyna for saying that Nico not saying anything about the two camps actually makes her respect him and trust him more. We love some critical thinking.
Also a lot of the fandom seems to think that Nico knew were Percy was for months and didn’t say anything, while camp halfblood figured out Percy was probably at the other camp when Jason started recovering his memories at the end of TLH in December. Nico was genuinely surprised to see Percy at camp Jupiter in June. Him telling Percy wouldn’t have solved anything, he might not even have believed him, and would have potentially put him and everyone at risk. By him not telling him he ensured his safety, and Percy naturally recovered his memories in a week. Also, everyone at camp Halfblood had found out about Camp Jupiter in December, but considering Nico’s surprise, no one bothered to tell Nico, who was supposedly out looking for Percy.
You know, thinking about it, I was wrong before. Nico has more reason to trust Hades than Percy does Poseidon at the time of the incident in TLO!
If you think about it, Percy's only evidence that Nico should've known it was a trap is that "[Nico] know[s] what [Hades]'s like", but... Nico's view of Hades would be much different from Percy's. Remember, Nico has a room in the palace at this time; Hades couldn't send him to his room the way he does later if he didn't have a room to be sent to. He's been living there! Hades allows him to live there! At this point Nico doesn't know that Hades used to visit him, Maria and Bianca regularly or that he actively stepped in to protect Nico and Bianca from Zeus and keep them safe until the time of Titan's Curse, but he does know that Hades is letting him live in his palace. Gods don't do that. Percy has to nearly die to even get a brief visit to Poseidon's palace, and he very openly knows that Poseidon wouldn't have claimed him to begin with if he didn't need him. Not to mention Poseidon has that whole thing where he explicitly tells Percy he wishes he didn't exist, which... is the sort of thing that's gonna have a negative impact on how you view your dad.
So when Percy says that Nico knows what Hades is like, what he's saying is basically... "The Underworld is evil and Hades is evil, how could you not know that," which is kind of an incredibly shitty thing to say to the child of Hades living in the Underworld? I mean, it is kind of just "You shouldn't trust your father because I think he's evil and the Underworld is evil", if I was Nico I'd be very concerned about what Percy thought of me when he started spouting that shit. Anyway, while Hades is far from a good father at this point in the series Nico still knows him as the father who is letting him live in his palace because he has nowhere to go, stepping well outside the usual bounds of gods interacting with their kids in the process. Hell, unless I've forgotten something (possible), it's entirely possible that by this point in the timeline Hades has already told Nico about Camp Jupiter (which would show a huge amount of faith in him, again above and beyond any other godly parent). Hades can be kind of a dick because all gods are dicks to their kids, but Nico has no particular reason not to trust him! Especially given Nico has exactly zero other adults in his life offering him any support and at this point in the timeline he doesn't remember his mother, so Hades is basically all he's got and he has no points of comparison other than his also-a-child sister who kinda sorta abandoned him (not going into her reasoning here but it was A Thing that would probably influence the way Nico thought about... caregivers, I guess, for lack of a better term to describe the twelve year old put in charge of her little brother) and Minos (who is... Minos. Enough said). It makes sense that when Hades says "Do this small thing for me and I'll tell you about your mother" Nico believes him, because while Hades has been awful to Nico at times there's no evidence that he's ever lied to him. Why should Nico doubt his father who gave him a place to stay when he had nothing and no one just because that father happens to be Hades and the place to stay happens to be the Underworld?
...Also in hindsight knowing just how much Hades spoils Nico (for a godly parent at least) in the future makes the "You know what Hades is like" thing kind of hilarious. Ah yes, the guy who gives Nico a place to stay when he has nowhere to go despite gods Not Doing That, tells him at least some of the gods' most guarded secrets and essentially takes it on faith that he'll keep his mouth shut, lets him get away with breaking the law that the dead stay dead without even a slap on the wrist, promises him a place in the palace when he eventually dies (which may or may not imply that Hades intends to make Nico a god when he bites it, but it's certainly not normal procedure for Underworld kids), tells him to his face he deserves everything, and backs up that claim by fulfilling his wishes with no payment required or debt accrued just because Nico asked if Hades thinking he deserved everything meant he'd do so (because Nico is a little shit, we love to see it) despite Hades claiming that wasn't actually what he meant. Why would Nico trust that guy? (I know, I know, it's not proof of anything at this point because most of that hasn't happened yet. But it is funny how completely Percy's claim that Nico should distrust his dad is eventually proved wrong by Hades spoiling his kid rotten.)
#I will die defending Nico di Angelo#If Nico di Angelo has zero fans I am dead#The pjo series actually has some very deep and significant themes and it's sad that Rick sometimes seems to forget about it#Nico protection squad#I love the seven but MOA and HoH drove me insane with how bad they were to Nico#Nico di Angelo#tsats spoilers#TSATS#percy jackson#pjo#Hades pjo#Poseidon pjo

Lore Olympus Episode 191!!! (Spoilers!!!)
——————/-/////———
Lore Olympian nation how y’all doing tonight?!!! I’m so excited for the new episodes that are out and the season is starting off with a BANG.
So without further ado here’s a recap/theory mashup!
——————————///———————————
- So we start out with a diary/narration from our favorite dick-head god Zeus, as he discusses Persephone (once again blaming others for his own selfish shortsightedness).
- And then we see… Hera? NOPE that’s Hebe! And she looks just like her mother🥹. And as per usual she has more awareness and wisdom than anyone is the room. She knows that this who situation has taken a toll on everyone and the consequences have fallen hard on her father as well.
- And the court room post verdict aftermath was a SIGHT, beings are in disarray, some gods are questioning when they’ll be able to see family, it’s a mess.
- And Hera is of course pissed, and I’ve got a feeling it’s different this time, like at least permanent separation. The separation of the realms, the forced separation of Hades and Persephone, and yet another scandal gone public??? Either she’s moving out or he his because sis looks DONE.
But god seeing Hades again, so broken kneeling really caught me, but god the power stance AFTER. Hecate, Hermes, and Hades make a fiery exit back to the Underworld and God there’s so many feelings. This isn’t like the other times they’ve disagreed and fought, no, ladies, theydies, and gents this is a scorched earth situation, of course the relations between realms are gonna suffer because of course the gods are gonna take sides on this issue. The consequences are just beginning and I’m sure that things are gonna get even darker as the rest of the season unfolds.
- I already knew Hades and Hecate were firmly on the Persephone side of things and for the longest time Hermes was in the middle for me. But after the trial and especially that lingering glare Hermes gives Apollo I have no doubt where he stands. I mean look at the glare? It could be in general given the situation and Apollo’s roll in how the trial was hastily decided, but I have a strong feelings it’s even more than that.
- THE TREES FACE OH LORD. It’s all so hilarious and yet sad. She obviously cares about Hades so much and his absence as well as her mothers must be taking a toll on her emotions.
- OH GOD IS THAT DAPHNE??? Okay so I think Daphne is back! So it looks like Daphne was saved and able to come out of her hibernation? Oh god that’s a silver lining in this whole mess. Like I could be wrong but god I hope I’m not 😭
The episode ends with a few of the gods still in the mortal realm including, Artemis, Thanatos and Eris surprisingly.
——————————-
Okay so here’s some side notes/theories I couldn’t help but jot down:
1. Hermes’ Glare: So Hermes glares at Apollo when the latter called his name when he joined Persephone and Hecate in their exit to the underworld. Now for a LONG while I’m sure that Hermes has had his suspicions about Apollo concerning Persephone but I think that glare has sealed that for me. Hermes has known Persephone for a long while and knows her well enough, her behavior towards Apollo and how her whole demeanor shifts when he comes around. While he doesn’t know all that happened, he knows something is up and he doesn’t like it.
2. Green hands?: So as we see, Persephone’s hands are now green and clawed…Why is that? In her dialogue for the scene, she says they are ‘A bit messed up now.’ I’m not sure which way to lean with this, part of me believes that her expanding power as the Goddess of the Harvest and Spring is contributing to these changes. Before we’ve seen her body change appearance/shape drastically, usually at times of high stress or releases of her power, maybe the extensive use of her power trying to keep up with her mothers duties/the stress and grief of separation from Demeter and Hades, is making her body gradually change.
3. Eris and Persephone?: So . I always thought she existed/reside in some kind of closed off pocket dimension but maybe it was somewhere in the mortal realm all along. So why is she with Persephone here? Well my best guess is the events of the trial, especially her impalement courtesy of Apollo has her leaning more towards Persephone in an acquaintance sense.
It’s doubtful anyone has ever shown her such a kindness even if it was fleeting. Or on the flip end maybe Persephone asked her to teach her about wrath, or maybe a way to funnel her wrath towards something productive? And if anyone could teach her how to do that, why not the literal goddess of discord? Also she looks docile? Or at least calmer than we’ve ever seen her so far. Despite being the goddess of strife and discord maybe she’s not always in that mood/mindset.
4. Queens bring Balance?: Sooo while I know it was a throwaway line but it won’t leave me alone! The line below makes me feel like there’s something more here. I mean Hades (in this myth imagining) would be the last to find love and marry, and the Underworld under Hades’ rule obviously hasn’t had a queen in all the time it’s existed. Obviously I might be looking too far into this, but maybe the Queens of these realms can keep them stable and prosperous? I mean When we see Persephone’s graphics on how she would want to contribute to the underworld it’s obvious her presence there would be a prosperous. Maybe I’m just looking too far into nothing.
So that’s it for Episode 191! The rest are fast pass episodes so to avoid spoilers, when those are officially released ill be back to comment!

Zeus appreciation!!! I’m here for it. Along with Demeter, I think he’s one of the gods whose most understood in modern times. I don’t worship Big Poppa (yet) but I love hearing you talk about him because it’s so heartwarming. What is it that you’re thinking about Hera overthrowing him? Now I’m curious 🧐 - Rose Eleusis
I absolutely agree that Zeus and Demeter are the most misunderstood gods in modern times. Interestingly enough that is one of the biggest reasons the whole fandom around Hades and Persephone annoys me so much. Because Hades specifically is receiving all this love at the expense of both Demeter and Zeus. People apparently can reshape and reimagine Hades all day long but give NONE of that same treatment to Zeus and for Demeter she gets demonized and erased in order for Hades to thrive. It just…yeah it fucking bothers me. As much as I know it shouldn’t because I can’t change it but, idk. The fact that people come into our spaces and shit on Zeus while fangirling over an imaginary Hades…I just can’t.
Anyway, we’re not here for me to rant about Hades and Persephone for the billionth time. We’re here to talk about Hera and how fucking badass and terrifying she is!
Okay so I’m gonna be talking about Blood of Zeus so spoiler warning in case you haven’t seen it yet!
What I absolutely LOVED about the Hera and Zeus dynamic in the show is that it really highlighted how precarious Zeus’ position really is especially when Hera is pissed off. As I mentioned in one of the previous asks, Zeus leads by example. He has to be the epitome of what he expects others to be. This isn’t just my opinion, it’s actually found in The Iliad. Zeus’ knows his beloved son is fated to die and he is truly heartbroken. So much so he wants to break his own rule to save him but Hera (very important detail!) reminds me that if he saves his son then the other gods will take that as permission for them to rescue their children (Tho funny enough Aphrodite is already doing that bc the ho can’t be stopped! She does what she wants! And that’s another whole ass discussion! 🤣). So here we see the devastating constraints put on Zeus as the leader of not only the Olympians but the Fates. It’s up to him to do the right thing even if it means sacrificing his loved ones because if he doesn’t the entire world order would collapse. And Hera being the one to remind him showcases that she knows all this very well!
So now we go to Blood of Zeus where Hera plays this card BEAUTIFULLY! She knows her husband, while being a just, logical, and strategic ruler, is also a romantic, passionate, and soft soul (I mean look at Apollo and Ares). It’s hard for him to deny that side of himself especially when someone has triggered it within him. So she knew he would break his own rule and get involved with humanity. She was waiting for it and once it happened she threw her husband to the wolves. The other gods, holding Zeus in high regard, are disappointed and angry with their king. How dare he tell them to do something but not follow through himself. And with that, the mutiny begins just as Hera knew it would.
Blood of Zeus also has one of my all time favorite lines:
“Only a fool would trust Hera.” – Zeus
“No. Only a fool would anger her.” – Poseidon
Exactly this!! As I showed above, Hera has the power to dethrone Zeus if she chooses. And Zeus knows this which is why she is his Queen. Think of chess (I always use this example when talking about Zeus and Hera) and how the most powerful piece on the board isn’t the King, but the Queen. In order to get to the King you have to eliminate his Queen. And that’s exactly how Zeus and Hera operate. She guards and protects Zeus, not just from outside forces but most importantly from himself. Again remember she was the one to remind him of how dire his actions could be if he gave into his emotions.
So yeah pissing her off would essentially turn that terrifying power against Zeus which is what happens in Blood of Zeus. Zeus and Hera are basically the epitome of “Happy wife, Happy life” 😂 Though idk if I’d actually call Zeus’ existence “happy” but we are all able to live happy lives because of the sacrifices both Zeus and Hera make. Which is why they are our King and Queen. We owe everything to them. ❤️

second for being interested in more of your antigone translations! i think you really captured one of my favorite things about a lot of greek plays, and antigone in general, which is that a lot of people just plainly say what they mean, rather than more realistic dialogue in plays and movies today. i know a lot of it is style, but in antigone it really makes me feel like. these people know each other. they’re family. they’re fighting and angry with each other but also speaking so plainly. especially with creon and antigone. and i really love how that comes across in what you’ve shared
ahhh yes! thank you. maybe i'll post some more of my favorite bits at some point.
the thing i love about antigone as a character is that all of her dialogue is in very plain and simple greek. she's very straightforward and transparent, and throughout the play she is singlemindedly focused on one goal. and creon is actually much harder to translate! he uses more complicated language, he's less clear, etc. so there's like... such a clear distinction between the language each character uses.
like, here's my translation of one of her speeches:
ANTIGONE: (450) Well, Zeus was not the one who sent these laws to me, nor did his fellow Dike, dwelling with the gods, who dictates justice, give these laws to us on Earth. Nor did I think your edicts carried strength enough that I, a mortal, dared defy unwritten rules (455) and steadfast customs that the gods put forth to us. It’s not just now or yesterday that these exist: they always live, and no one knows from where they come. So I was not about to pay a price to gods for fear of what a mortal man might think of me: (460) I know that I am dying. Why not die for this? And even if you don’t proclaim it, if I die before my time, I will consider it a gain. A one who lives like me, among so many evils, how can they gain a thing without the kiss of death? (465) So in this way, for me to happen on this fate just doesn’t hurt at all: but if I left the corpse that was my mother’s son to lie exposed, unburied, I would have lost. I do not feel pain for this. And if you think I’m foolish now that I’ve done this, (470) I may incur that charge from one who is a fool.
and one from creon, two lines later:
CREON: But you should know a mind that does not yield at all will fall the farthest: you would look upon the strongest (475) of fire-baked iron, hardest forged of heat and flame, you’ll see it shatter, breaking into smithereens. I know that I can tame a wild restless horse by giving it a smaller bridle: it’s not allowed for one who is a neighbor’s slave to think with pride. (480) This girl already knew the way to think with pride before she overstepped the laws that were laid down, but after she accomplished this, her pride was doubled: she boasts and laughs about the deeds that she has done. Now I am not a man: instead, she is the man, (485) if she can win this battle without punishment. It doesn’t matter whether she is of my sister or closer kin than those who pray in my front room, I’ll punish her. She and her sister won’t escape from their most evil fate: in fact I know I charge (490) the sister just as much in planning for this funeral. Now call her here: I saw her in the house just now, herself enraged, not in possession of her thoughts. Indeed the heart does love to be caught out before the mind devises evil plots in darkened rooms: (495) I hate when someone caught among those evil schemes then wants to glorify the crime that has condemned them.
so you can see, like, antigone literally just says what she's thinking. but creon uses a lot more metaphor and just goes on a lot longer. and antigone is also a lot easier to translate. like, if you're reading creon's and you're like "i can't figure out what the hell this guy is saying," that's partially on me and it's because it's just a lot harder to wrestle his words into english.

Yo some yandere zeus and yandere hera though 👀👀👀
Yandere Zeus Headcanons
Zeus is extremely delusional, there is no chance of him having any shred of self-awareness. He believes what he wants to believe and that’s how it goes. You’re resistance means nothing to him. He’ll take what he wants because he can, who’s going to stop him? He is the God of Gods after all.
He can be a utterly romantic, doing and saying such things that can surely get you into his arms and eventually his bed. Zeus can be a sweet talker, honey dripping off his tongue if it means he can have you. But once he’s had a taste he wants it all. No, he needs it.
Zeus has a habit of using various forms to visit and just watch you in. He may be a bird one day but a mortal man another. You’ll never know who he truly is, not until he finally takes you for his own.
Before he does come for you, you’ll find little gifts that have been left for you to find. Only the finest of the fine for you, treasure and all. And he expects you to wear and show off whatever he gifts you. He’ll be upset for days if you don’t. Taking his anger out on any and everyone.
He may even leave you letters or notes for you, varying from romantic to creepy to downright chilling. It really depends on his mood and how you’ve gone about with the things he’s gifted you.
Once he does take you, Zeus will keep you somewhere luxurious and beautiful. Only the best for you after all. He wants to show you all the things you will have with him. He wants to prove just what he can provide for you. And he can provide; whatever you want, whatever you need.
Zeus doesn’t necessarily have punishments of his own. He doesn’t need a set punishment to hurt you or set you straight. No he has a way of doing that with or without meaning to.
He has bursts of anger and rage, lashing out without any warning and you’re surely to fall victim to his outbursts. He’s broken you more times then he can count but he always makes sure you’re put back together in whatever fashion. He doesn’t like having broken toys.
Zeus will most likely not stay faithful but in a way that may be a good thing. It’ll give you a break and keep his attention off of you, even just for a time. You’ll always be his favorite though and he’ll always come back to you in the end.
Yandere Hera Headcanons
Hera is jealous and it seeps into her obsession like poison, not to mention just how possessive she truly is. She doesn’t trust anyone around her obsession whatsoever. She believes that everyone is out to take you from her and she won’t allow that. Your place is by her side constantly, just like she intends it to be forever.
You won’t know what privacy is after Hera sets her sights on you. She knows everything about you, what goes on around you, and she isn’t going to let up any time soon, if at all. It’ll feel like being more of a possession then any kind of equal, she’s keeping you just cause she can and she wants to. She doesn’t hide it either. She has all the control and that’s just what she craves.
She’ll treat you more like a pet then an actual person. You’ll still be spoiled but only as a reward for behaving and listening to her. You’ll feel dehumanized and small and that’s just what she wants. She doesn’t want you feeling like you have any kind of power or a leg to stand on so to speak. She wants you to be vulnerable and helpless. It’s perfect for her.
As much demeaning and dehumanizing as she does, Hera does have a caring side to her so to speak. She’ll want to care for you and she will but she’ll do it her way. She’ll treat you like you’re fragile, made of the finest porcelain. You’re her little doll and she’ll dress you and play with you however she likes. She’ll even have the most beautiful and unique collar made for you. It may or may not have her name engraved in to it.
Hera’s punishments are known to be creative and excruciating and you’re no exception to them. Even though she does see you as fragile, her anger does blind her. There’s no doubt you’ll break from most, if not all, of her punishments. Whether physically, emotion and or mentally, you’ll be scarred in some way. But Hera will take care of you and she’ll make sure you get fixed up, or as fixed up as she wants you to be.
If you so much as interact with anyone else, no matter how small or insignificant their role, Hera will punish both you and them. She’s extremely possessive and she wants you to herself. She won’t leave any room for you to find comfort or love in another. Not after what she’s gone through with Zeus.
