I hope when ppl say they hate ai they mean ai art bc the term AI is starting to look bad when in reality we’ve been using AI to help us for a good while now. There are AI that helps people in their lines of work. I think we need to differentiate between those things when we’re talking specifically about ai art

Anyways, im bored so below is just me rambling about my tmnt fan iteration

If ur gonna read it, be warned, it’s long 💀 i tend to yap alot. I’ll make a clearer post once i figure everything out lmao

I guess i’ll start by explaining the background of it all

Baxter stockman found a crystal near an alien crash site and he found it super pretty, he wanted to give it to april’s mom, who he fancied. At the time, he didnt think much of it. He just thought it was a regular pretty crystal that was probably formed because of the crash impact or something.

(Little comic about this) As baxter gives the crystal necklace to april for her to give to her mom, april ends up giving it to Leo instead because april doesnt like her mom and refuses to give any gifts to her. Leo wears the crystal necklace in gratitude for April and on that night, leo had something happen to him. It’s like something from the necklace is taking over his body. That something is basically the crystal’s energy getting embedded to his body, this includes a hologram being (like an AI i guess) that is part of that crystal

This hologram being is what u call a Chronix. Chronixes are blue hologram AI beings that usually take a dragon-like form. Chronix doesnt immediately show itself to Leo, as just like any other virtual assistant, it only shows up when needed. When the crystal’s energy was embedded to Leo, he just thought that it was somehow Donnie’s mischievous doing. Maybe he was experimenting with things and Leo got caught in the way. Leo quickly dismissed it and went on with his day after Donnie gives Leo a device that would help tame the energy surge.

One day, a bunch of utroms have been spotted roaming around the town. While April was still sleeping, an utrom managed to get into april’s place through an open window and climbed onto leo, causing him to freak out and accidentally spawn a holographic whip that would break April’s shelf of her beloved figurines. Leo begged Donnie to fix everything and he also tells Donnie that the device he gave isnt working. Donnie agreed to fix the issues and he tells Raph to distract April, and Mikey to help clean up the mess a bit. While Donnie is fixing up his device, Leo is sitting alone in his room, wondering what actually is happening to him.

Prompted by Leo’s question about what’s happening, Chronix appears and tells him that the energy surges he’s getting are because he’s not used to it yet. His body is not trained enough to be a container for the energy nor to gain better control of what he spawns. Chronix explains further about what it is and where it came from: The utroms have a very advanced living condition and what keeps their conditions alive is a sun crystal that powers everything in their planet. It is linked to everything there and it casts virtual assistants to serve the utroms. As they were fleeing their planet that’s about to be taken over by shredder, the utroms took the big crystal with them as its huge energy source is believed to be able to form a new world and Shredder will have his own loyal army. When the utroms fled with the crystal, they crashed to earth, causing the crystal to shatter to multiple pieces. Those who came to check out the crash site notice these crystal fragments and take them, either its for collection, or for profit purposes, or for research, whatever. Ppl just like shiny things. The utroms are trying to gather all the pieces to form the crystal whole again to restore their home planet, while shredder, and other alien invaders, are also actively trying to seek out for this crystal for power.

As Leo is one of those who is in possession of the crystal, he is now a target, hence why an utrom climbed up onto him that morning. Now knowing that he’s not supposed to be in possession of the crystal, he tries to take off the necklace but he is now bonded with the crystal so he physically can’t take it off. The crystals dont have the same effects on other living things tho. I'll tell why eventually in future posts.

To avoid any more accidents, he asks for chronix’s guidance on how to make his body stronger to contain and be more in control. Chronix tells him that he just needs to train n stuff. For better guidance, he tells his brothers. And then april, who then mentions that there’s a dojo nearby and thats where they meet casey jones and his grandpa who owns a pet rat, Splinter, who shortly gets in contact with an utrom and gets mutated. Also the grandpa’s pretty old so he passes away not very long after. Casey is still too young to continue his legacy, but splinter is now an old wise rat who knows of the grandpa’s techniques. So splinter takes the sensei role to initially train only leo and casey, but the other turtles and april also wanted to join in just to have something to do

to ppl who are currently skeptical about llm (aka "ai") capabilities and benefits for everyday people: i would strongly encourage u to check out this really cool slide deck someone made where they describe a world in which non-software-engineers can make home-grown apps by and for themselves with assistance from llms.

in particular there are a couple of linked tools that are really amazing, including one that gives you a whiteboard interface to draw and describe the app interface you want and then uses gpt4o to write the code for that app.

i think it's also an excellent counter to the argument that llms are basically only going to benefit le capitalisme and corporate overlords, because the technology presented here is actually being used to help users take matters into their own hands. to build their own apps that do what they want the apps to do, and to do it all on their own computers, so none of their private data has to get slurped up by some new startup.

"oh, so i should just let openai slurp up all my data instead? sounds great, asshole" no!!!! that's not what this is suggesting! this is saying you can make your own apps with the llms. then you put your private data in the app that you made, and that app doesn't need chatgpt to work, so literally everything involving your personal data remains on your personal devices.

is this a complete argument for justifying the existence of ai and llms? no! is this a justification for other privacy abuses? also no! does this mean we should all feel totally okay and happy with companies laying off tons of people in order to replace them with llms? 100% no!!!! please continue being mad about that.

just don't let those problems push you towards believing these things don't have genuinely impressive capabilities that can actually help you unlock the ability to do cool things you wouldn't otherwise have the time, energy, or inclination to do.

hi just fyi those bots you and everyone are making are genuinely so bad for the environment. it's very disheartening seeing the usage of ai in certain communities on here, especially in the fanfic community. you don't need to ruin the environment because u wanna get freaky with a bot of ur favorite fictional character.

I get ur point completely but I also actively post fanfic whenever I can. I enjoy writing engaging with people through my writing but lots of ppl also enjoy consuming content in other ways. I love writing and getting likes and comments it really makes my day but I also want to spread my content to get more friends and engage with people!

Some ppl prefer the role play like experience but might be too anxious to engage with real ppl.

Most my bots also aren’t made with sexual intentions i actually code some of them to not be sexual as that’s not the intent. Its rare bots I make have any code in them which would make them sexual most of mine are purely romantic and if people take it sexual I can’t really help that 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s another way to immerse yourself but I personally don’t use sexual intent.

Some people do and I’m obviously not shaming them.

I can get why it’s harmful to create just bots but a lot of mine come from fanfics I’ve actually written and fleshed out to post.

I can completely get why it can be seen as disheartening and why it can be frustrating but at the same time it is also another creative outlet and I have countless friends who enjoy the experience of making their own story and having it play out since they feel they cannot writing to the standard they would like

Hes such a knight of my god like insisting your fine when you arent? absolute knight behavior. i chose mind because one of my favorite aspects of linkara is hes like. the kind of character who needs to have a plan for everything which is usually a bad guy trait and is a trait you see in a lot of neurodivergent ppl so its nice to see in The Hero

but yeah a knight of mind would use logic and thinking as a weapon which linkara really enjoys doing

hope players represent! (im seer of hope!) but yeah hope is a broad term bc like lots of things can inspire it, hope plays typically have something they're really passionate about, something that sparks that ability to believe and like i dont have to say what 90's dude's is. he wears his passions on his sleeves, he gave us "more radical, less sadicle", the stuff that hes passionate about is his strength. mages are kinda like seers except less direct? instead of sharing knowledge to help the team they have this very personal, intuitive understanding of their aspect and how to wield it. fits the sleepwalker arc p damn well

Harvey: Prince of Time

every time i have to make a character i love a prince like i know you'd hate these pants im sorry

but ok i knew harvey would be a time player bc time is associated with music and death, two things that are very relevant to harvey as a character. i think i settled on this bc i saw a quote on pintrest "not living, just killin time" and harvey was the character i was fixated on that week. princes destroy their aspect/are destroyed by their aspect/destroy with their aspect. so if you wanna put a less gloomy spin on this you can go with "making up for lost time"

You should learn even a little bit about how making ai art outside of someone just typing in a prompt and being satisfied with the first product works before you talk about it. Because you sound like one of those people who thinks digital art is magic you just decided it's a different tool that's magic this time. Like if you want good art out of some of the less gimmicky generate in your browser ai art programs you do actually have to build skills and then put in effort to get a good product out. It's not magic as much as you seem to believe it is.

if it takes the degree of work that you seem to be implying it does, then it wouldnt be AI art, itd just be automated tools that speed up certain mechanics (for instance photoshop's cloning mechanics & using distortion tools for perspective are certainly automating steps, but they arent to the point of AI, and i dont see ppl generally pretending they are)

effectively utilizing a visual library is a skill, for sure - collage artists are a great example of this

like! this is stellar! and im sure really effective AI prompting is not too dissimilar to this. but that leads me to a few points:

1. the issue still remains of ethical resource libraries, which is as much a conversation regarding collage art as this - how many distinct sources are needed for it to become truly "original"? how much needs to be changed? what if its not as CLEAR its a collage vs claiming the source materials as your own creation? what resources do you even have the rights to, period? these are all gray area questions to be sure, but theyre questions to be reckoned with every time.

2. for me i think a lot of the problem is the dishonesty? yes through prompting you are guiding a highly specific collage. but that is not what "ai artists" are claiming! they are claiming it is through the use of a supposed artifical intelligence that new images are being generated fully. and i just think you cant have both!

if it helps to further understand my perspective: im an art teacher that primarily prioritizes art for the act itself of creation & expression. i am far more interested in an unskilled, thoughtful painting than the most beautiful, generated image. and also as an art teacher i can concede that "what counts as art??" is the forever unanswerable forever infuriating question. ultimately anon i think you and i just fundamentally disagree on its answer

ii) made a whole 1.5 hrs live specifically for jm which he never did for any members who released albums before jm or after jm.

iii) Telling him "Even if you're not no1 you're always number 1 to me", "eveb if i don't say it I'm always watching you"

iv) congratulating him even on his small winnings, always singing his songs, knowing every single song of jm's, knowing lyrics to them, never misssing to play ever single new release of jm's.

v) Telling him for his dance

vi) Cooking for jm so many times that when asked jin to make jm's profile he mentioned jk as jm's cook in 2020 which was 4 yrs ago even tho yg and jin also cooks but jk surely is jm's cook. Do i need to mention all the times he's cooked for jm? The big pancake specially for jm because he had penalties even tho jin was also going to do penalties, The whole AYS being jk cooking for jm? Knows what type of food jm loves from spices to sour food etc.

Taking interests in his interests

• Knowing lyrics to every song of his like no one would ever know if asked to sing happens when you listen to same songs and take interest in it.

• Playing video games together

• Working out together and being boxing partners as well but funnily they never shared their videos together but they share same boxing coach.

• Talking with another every single thing because there's no judgement, From silly talks to serious topics everything.

Wants his affection

• everytime he does something he waits for jm's praises, goes to his room when he's alone because he wants jimin's presence and his affection.

• "Jiminie hyung is the hyung who gives me most comfort"

You said jk needs someone who will see him as equal and that's why jm has let jk drop honorifics with him the most even tho jk had initially denied Tae when tae asked him to. jungkook who is not verbally expressive with other members yaps alot in front of jm all because he knows jm will listen to him and will not judge. They themselves had said that they're copies of eachother so how is that happening if both don't think of eachother as equal?

1) Went to jk to NYC and was present with him before his first ever solo performance in the solo era in another country. wouldn't happen if he didn't want to.

2) Jimin enlisted with Jungkook using the Buddy program and will be with jungkook for 18 months, and get to see jungkook for 18 months.

3) jimin has been with jungl for his b'days every year since they left the dorms. at least 3 times i can mention don't have to stick to only 2023. and none of them said they didn't meet e/o on b'days in 2023 so i won't know that.

4) interesting how jm and jk have been boxing partners since some 2021 yet they never posted together like tae did with jk. I hope you know this information.

What jungkook did for jimin...

1) Jungkook made a whole 1.5 hrs live only for jm never for anyone else.

2) has played every single new jimin song that dropped in 2023 even though all members were dropping their songs as well but jungkook didn't play them till around oct 2023 and before that he played yoongi's album months after when he went to yg's concert when his album had dropped a month after jm.

It should be relatively recent in my Dreamwidth 101 tag, but I can also dig it up for you if you like. Just maybe not for a while; I'm still catching up with all of the other notes on that post 😂

Ignore the below, its mostly just personal rant. ToT tldr: i think dreamwidth is cool and since i miss livejournal ill probs make an account regardless, but tumblr has some ways of using that just work better for some things i do regularly.

I plan to use dreamwidth eventually. Its just, ahh again like my tags ToT, the benefit of tumblr (over stuff like livejournal dreamwidth ao3) has been being able to easily have casual chats with people with shared interests even if they dont follow me or know how to find me specifically, long chats (unlike twitter), chats we can both save a copy of on our blogs just by reblogging. I do a lot of study blog stuff with sharing study ideas, where the informality of tumblr makes discussions warmer and more open to mentioning experiments and trial error than reddit (which language subreddits expect high quality informative additions mainly) and lets ppl find the discussion posts based on tags (again a bit easier than reddit and much easier for ppl to find then them trying to find Me specifically). And a lot of fandom liveblogging, which twitter is an alright alternative to but 1. Expects real name (and my job marketing i dont really want tied with grammatically messy giggling about some show) 2. Elon musk touching anything i make frankly 3 twitter is shortform so its not really compatible with 4000 word meta posts. Dreamwidth (and blogging sites) are. But then they're not super compatible with 20 other active show watchers finding you the same night theyre liveblogging and you all getting to chat excitedly.

Then as an artist... im glad tumblrs still up. Instagram doesnt encpurage reblogs, has a messed up algorithm, so its not good for new people finding you. Twitter is better with tags connected to public feeds, and reblogging culture, but elon musk is very cool with ai scraping any art posted and hes stolen art before personally anyway so i dont want my art near that. And then sites with no reblogging culture just are not great for spreading art to more people to find you. (I moved to tumblr after the deviantart exodus years ago, and while some ppl moved to twitter later as its also got common reblog usage which helps artists get more visibility, im just not super compatible with twitter ToT). I do wonder if eventually a new social media more artist focused will surface (since after deviantart pulled the "needs premium membership" push and ppl left, nothing really replaced it... tumblr is closest cause personal blogs allow for tagged/ personal blog Pages so you can organize art somewhat, compared to twitter or instagram. But tumblr itself was trying to push away from personal blogs too for a while, so who knows.)

He's rather enthusiastic to have a partner he cares for so much, but if you've told him or if he's noticed that you'd prefer for him to turn down the hype a little, he'll definitely try to be a little more "chill" about it. He's rather inexperienced, but he's always eager to do his best in any situation, and when it comes to you he tries to bring his A-game and do his best to make you feel happy and loved.

He would absolutely love to learn about new things with you! Despite how he may seem, he's actually pretty knowledgable (when it comes to cybertronian artifacts and history, of course) and a fast learner. That isn't to mention that as a new-comer to Earth, he intends to learn as much as he can about the planet, not only because he thinks it'd be good to better understand the species he's trying to protect, but also out of genuine interest himself.

So if there are any interesting facts about the planet that you'd like to share with him, or books you'd be willing to lend him, you'll be his go-to source for everything there is to know about earth and humans. (A brief callback to one of my other things, this of course means that he'll be calling you whenever he has a question about something, but the more he does it, the more it seems like he isn't actually curious about what he's calling to ask you about, but rather he's instead doing it to hide the fact he really just wants to talk to you.)

And of course in exchange for everything you tell him about Earth, he's going to return the favor (as long as you ask him something he actually knows about)... But with your interest in space, he'd be able to tell you a lot of things about the stars and cosmos, all of which he learned about in the academy and from Alpha Trion while he was a guard at Iacon. Or he could tell you about cybertronian history, or cybertronian customs that he thinks you'd find interesting or funny.

But aside from that, he'd strive to impress you in whatever way possible, but unfortunately that's a bit... Difficult for him, since the first things that come to mind include feats of strength and shows of his fighting capabilities, but due to your dislike of violence, he decides to opt for other means instead. He quite literally searches up "ways to impress your crush" online and tries out the ones he thinks you'd like the most, like showing off his smarts, or showing that he's really interested in whatever's on your mind.

He's also the type of S/O who'd definitely try out stuff that their partner's into, so he's willing to try out a whole bunch of your hobbies if it means the two of you get to hang out together. I'd like to imagine he's particularly fond of listening to you play music, and perhaps he even hums along when he grows more familiar with the tune.

He'd definitely try to help you come out of your shell and he actively encourages you to live life whatever way makes you happy and live life with no regrets. He's also pretty quick to recognize most of his mistakes and make up for them accordingly. He also always emphasizes that he promises to learn from them (and he does for your sake).

Breakdown

He's actually pretty chill and easy-going as a partner. He doesn't usually do any showy romantic expressions of love (unless you like them), but that doesn't mean he takes the relationship lightly. He particularly enjoys just spending as much time with you as he can in your day-to-day lives. You don't have to do anything special like go on dates, he's just perfectly content hanging out with you and doing whatever you can together.

And contrary to how he looks as a "big brutish tough guy", he's actually very gentle and chill when it comes to you. He enjoys joking around and maybe the two of you even have a few inside jokes that you laugh about from time to time.

He's pretty fond of the great outdoors too! And though patrolling may still be tedious work, the scenery makes it all the more worthwhile. Not to mention that it isn't as boring whenever you offer to tag along for the ride. There are other times where the two of you go on foot, and he'll let you sit up on his shoulders to let you get a good view of the area. Or if there are any neat trees you'd want a closer look at, he'll make sure to lift you up there carefully and let you pick a leaf or a flower out of them.

Whenever the two of you patrol sparsely populated areas with lots of wildlife, he'll occasionally point out animals here and there, and he'll sorta make a game out it.

"That's not a dog..."

Of course he isn't any good at naming the animals he sees, but he thinks that it's neat that you get to tell him what those animals are, or what that plant is, or what that other neat thing is that he saw on the road.

And I feel like he isn't that squeamish or disgusted by bugs, and I think he'd find beetles or any kind of resilient or strong bug super cool despite their miniature stature.

Animals aside, Knockout once recommended that Breakdown should take you out to the theater, saying that it was a romantic thing that humans do. So you can expect drive-in theater movie nights to be a frequent thing from time to time. He'll let you sit in his cab and he parks somewhere with a good view of the screen. He claims that he doesn't find horror movies all that scary, and actually nitpicks at the actual details themselves, but from time to time you'll notice the subtle way his frame begin to shake and his tires twist during some particularly scary scenes... Tease him about it if you will, but not once will he ever admit to being afraid.

And also if you're ever interested in learning self-defense, he definitely would step up and offer to teach you how to punch people in the face. "You never know when it'll come in handy" is what he says to justify it.

He's not usually someone who gets hyped over gifts. That doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't like them, it's just that he's never received many gifts before, so he doesn't truly understand the hype around them. But once you come around and give him gifts, he gets around to understanding the appeal. He gets happy and a little excited whenever you bring him something, and he also tries to get you gifts to return the favor! But given his situation as a giant robot, he can't exactly do that for you, but what the two of you could do is check out old junkyards to see if there's anything neat to take.

i talked about him a liiiittle bit in that one kurumada post i did, so i’m just gonna briefly go over those points so everything is conveniently in one post

basically ranmaru’s parents are both detectives, and so ranmaru knows a lot about the business (as well as feeling pressured to take it up himself :,) ). kurumada becomes sort of like a mentor figure to him, but in their first trial together ranmaru ultimately snaps under the pressure and ends up getting kurumada killed so that he can survive

ironically, this guilt ends up primarily being what motivates his survival instinct (which is both a good and a bad thing 😭), because he feels like if he has to carry the weight of kurumada’s death bc he wanted to survive, he has to get out so that the whole thing wasn’t meaningless

in the beginning of the death game, he tries to take charge a lot because he has ~experience~ with crime, and ends up mostly working with ryoko and sara because they’re kind, reliable figures. he actually…doesn’t end up liking most of the other cast 😭 whether that be he finds them suspicious or just Straight Up doesn’t like them (i think the funniest example of this is him having one-sided beef with mishima for literally zero reason other than he just does not like the man)

actually, now that i think about it, he does get along with hinako. they have an annoying sibling dynamic where even if they don’t really talk to each other much if you put them in the same room they get each other’s vibes immediately. psychic connection

but of course the main relationship i focus on for him is with ryoko, as ranmaru is one of the major supporting chrs! :) ranmaru’s pretty quick to get back on his feet after the first main game (not that he isn’t affected by it, just trying to keep everyone going steady) and so he helps ryoko a lot in trying to recover. some of his most major moments are A. in the chap 2 subgame and B. in the second main game

in the subgame, ranmaru is trapped on the platform (i literally forgot what it’s called) with ryoko and maple. he’s actually the first person to jump on the idea that maple could be a doll (she’s the one who gets switched out in the room of lies. i thought it’d make sense both since maple takes reko’s role and cause it’s a little ode to her obstructor form in actual yttd x3), and tries to logically lead the conversation along while everyone else is freaking out (i SO need to make a post about the chap 2 subgame, it’s a complete mess 😭😭😭)

one of the most interesting bits of characterization i’ve come up with for him imo is on the route where the ai maple gets pushed into the spikes. like nao, ranmaru is the one who pushes her, but unlike nao’s reasoning behind it which was that she didn’t want sara to carry any more burdens, ranmaru remarks that he didn’t want ryoko to have any blood on her hands (even though, it’s technically not blood since she’s a doll…but you get the idea)

^ to add onto that, ranmaru does really care for ryoko as a friend but he feels like he can’t really fully open up to her bc he deems himself a murderer + is paranoid that if he gets found out everyone will try to vote him out. his constant secrecy ends up coming to bite him in the ass when kugie happens to buy kurumada’s victim video, though 😭 it gets brought up in the second main game and of course he has to come clean. he does garner some sympathy (mostly from ryoko and maple/hinako), but it also makes some ppl more suspicious of him as well (like kugie and shin).

SPEAKING OF the second main game hooooo boy is ranmaru a central figure of it. he gets completely screwed over and sent the sacrifice card due to gashu’s tampering, and this man FREAKS the hell out. he doesn’t wanna die, he’s only 16 and he hasn’t even done anything he can consider worthwhile yet (that and, if it’s true that every terrible thing he did was for nothing, maybe his guilt will finally catch up with him 😞)

sooooooo yeah massacre ending is with ryoko and ranmaru. it’s Bad. ranmaru convinces himself that he has to do this and that he has to Win and escape with ryoko, but even if they go thru with it it’s clear neither of them really wanted this outcome anyways. i think this note i made for myself sums it up pretty well:

Fandom project making a game from 2002 fully voice acted? That's cool! The project was obviously never going to be done officially and it helps more people get into it or just generally breath more life into someone's beloved franchise.

Generate random anime chicks? It'd be nice if it was trained on art that consented but honestly if no money is being made I kinda.... don't personally care. Ppl using free generators aren't gonna pay anyways, and I am a firm believer in one of the internets beauties being the way things are passed around. Also most of these are bust shots only, all kinds of artists like to do challenges where they draw the rest of the outfit

Make a chatbot DM so someone can play dungeons and dragons without a DM? That's dope, and helps people who want to try out character ideas, or people (if you're like me and everyone you know hates being the DM) play the game they otherwise wouldn't.

A chatbot that helps write fantasy stories? I've used these before for writing practice, it's really handy to have something to help when I'm really just at a brick wall.

This is because mostly these things all help someone, a real person be creative who is still putting creative work and thought in.

I start having issues when things cost money. It can be argued in every one of the ones I've listed prior that "they wouldn't have paid a real person anyways" but the issue now, is people are willing to pay people who own machines, just so they don't have to pay artists.

Because the second you use other people's art for MONEY. You stole it IMO. The moment you train a machine off someone's art and sell that machine's time, you stole.

Running off donations is one thing, requiring funding, running off in app currency 'points', etc, that's stealing.

Am I frustrated with the amount of people who get more attention than actual artists for using machine learning, tagging their posts as things theyre not? Yes, to no end.

Does some people being scummy make it so I think nobody should do anything with machine learning ever? No, I don't think that.

IMO, I've always preferred machine learning to be... bad. I prefer messed up hands and blemish spots and bad checkerboards. I think "ai" is useful for inspiration but should never replace real work.

The fact is, people will be gross money hungry little shitbags. But that doesn't mean if I offered a machine a portfolio of my art and asked it to make something that makes sense, I'd be in the wrong.

I'm tired of the idea that inanimate machines are the one to blame. We need to blame thieves for thieving. Sweet and simple. A computer didn't steal your art. A person did, and he makes money giving server space to people.
