(The dumb hc, excuse typos I suck at writing) So basically, Arthur got picked up by Dutch and Hosea before John. He was a teen right, 14? And John then joins the gang when he’s twelve(?), making Arthur in his 20s (10 year age gap). I’d like to think they were the type of siblings that always fought, like I swear they could never just talk to each other, they always had to throw in an insult. But of course they cared about each other, their ways of showing it though seemed nonexistent. Now ik basically everyone smoked during this day n age, but I’d like to think that like, probably Hosea wouldn’t let John smoke cause he was just a kid. And not necessarily cause they thought smoking was bad, but because it was like, an adult thing to do right? Like drinking? Either which way, John seemed like he probably was rebellious little shit and would beg for a cigarette from Arthur, and not cause he like, really wanted one, but same vibes of asking an adult for a swing of alcohol. Because if you can’t have it you want it. Maybe at first Arthur said no, but eventually he came around to it and would either let him puff off one he already had lit, or give him his own. Same vibes as your little brother like, begging for a bite of your lunch. When Arthur gave John his own cigarette though, John never like, finished it, instead took like 2-3 puffs and made Arthur finish it. And Arthur would cause he didn’t like wasting his own money (since they were always cigarettes he paid for). So this like, sharing cigarettes, became kinda a thing with them, and as they grew up they just continued to smoke together. That’s how they showed that they cared for each other. It was like, and unconscious thing they just did. So like, when one would get out a cig they would either offer the other one and then light them both. Or they would light their own and let the other have a puff. They would still occasionally smoke on their own, but like mostly if the other was there because if one brought out the cigs they were both smoking it. John honestly kinda gives me those vibes of like, those crazy folk that only eat the first few chips out of a bag. Like they like when it’s ‘new’ the first bite, the first whatever. So I can see him being the kinda of guy that only liked the first few puffs of a cigarette and then he was sick of it. So so many times he would light one and then track Arthur down in camp and just hand him the lit cig and leave. And just like always Arthur would just finish it. Like even if they were pissed at each other, one would just light a cigarette and they’d say nothing yet smoke it together. 

Imagine like, post Arthur’s death at beecher hope, John just sitting on the porch, and his brain somehow always circles back to the gang, and then of course how Arthur had saved his life. And he’s sitting there reminiscing good times and without realizing it he’s lighting a cigarette to relax. He takes a few puffs and it really dawns on him that Arthur isn’t there, that his brothers actually gone. And he just, doesn’t finish the cigarette and just puts it out barely smoked.

my prof just explained on the syllabus that he’s included more points in the class than we needed to pass, so we could skip up like?? 20 small assignments/quizzes/participation!! and still get a very high grade!!

the idea was that we could focus on assignments that played to our strengths - only do the participation stuff if we like to talk out loud - only do the quizzes/readings if we want to do the class remotely - only do online discussions if we like to talk and share opinions but struggle with anxiety in class ect.

and that’s cool enough but then he pulled up DnD character sheets with drawings he’d done of these hypothetical student player classes and how our various accessibility needs could be gamified to ‘max out’ different aspects of the class to get high grades and like!!!!!

hell yeah!!!! let’s treat accessibility in higher education not just as a necessity but as the fun, engaging, and creative aspect of learning that it is!!! I love this!!
