Translation: Toman Tengoku Showdown from the “Tokyo Revengers Exhibition The Final World Line SILVER” Book

In Roppongi’s TR exhibition, they had a section where they had an installation of the final timeline story drawn by Wakui-sensei. This installation had a mix of the printed manga panels and voiceover drama to cover more backstory and content because the man can only draw and cover so much.

Luckily, they included the transcript to the voice overs and are divided up into chapters with titles, which I'll mark with --.

I was lucky enough to my my hands on the book directly from their limited time merch site (https://mikey-mart.online/); unfortunately, they ended all online orders by 2/4.

Out of respect for the exhibition and the hard work put into this entire thing by Wakui-sensei and the staff, I will not be posting any images of the panels from the booklet and will post whatever the official exhibition's Twitter account have posted. I’ll do my best to put scene descriptions where I see fit. I have seen there are some JP vloggers who've done content on the exhibition itself, but don't know how much they were able to film.

They also have an interview with the artist who made the statue installation of the Tenjiku arc scene where Takemichi raised his fist up when Mikey appeared, an interview with the Japanese VAs and Wakui-sensei himself. If there’s enough interest in any of those sections, I’ll do my best to translate them.

Note: Translation isn’t 100% and I may take some liberties in translating certain things for a more colloquial approach. Anything in brackets are my personal notes.

Intro: This is the story about our final time leap and battle.

Kisaki: The Toman Tengoku Battle will take place one week from today. It will take place at the Roppongi 3rd multi-story Parking Lot.

Panel Card: Tokyo Roppongi Manji Tengoku Summit Meeting

[This is the panel they teased in the YT video where Toman, Tenjiku and Black Dragons were sitting in a private room in a Chinese restaurant].

Kisaki: There are three rules: No weapons! No retaliations! The gang that wins will absorb the other gangs! No objections?

Takemichi: None.

Taiju: There’s nothing left to say at this point!

Izana: This’ll be a festival to decide whose fist will rule over the biggest gang in all of Japan; a huge feud between the three of us.

Kisaki: This concludes the meeting!!

(Each respective gang make their exits)

Takemichi: The next time we’ll see each other will be at the battlefield.

Mikey: Get ready to be beaten to a pulp.

Taiju: Ha! Back at you!

Izana: Hmph.

Kakucho: Are you okay with this, Izana?

Izana: With what?

Kakucho: Isn’t Mikey Shinichiro-san’s younger brother? Are you gonna go all out?

Izana: … Haha. Idiot Kakucho. This will be the second time Mikey and I go at it.

Flashback quote: “Even if we’re not related by blood, Shin-nii is my brother!!!”

Takemichi: This is your hardest mission, Mikey-kun.

Mikey: Got it.

(Takemichi and Mikey are standing in front of the orphanage talking to each other secretly)

Takemichi: I don’t know what kind of scary thing will happen if we tell Izana-kun suddenly. That’s why I thought of this strategy.

(Takemichi starts shaking as he opens his hand with a piece of chocolate)

Mikey: Chocolate?

Takemichi: Yes, chocolate. [Oh you sweet summer child…]

(He begins to explain his strategy with confidence.)

Takemichi: This is how you’ll lure Izana-kun in and with time, you two will slowly start getting along and gradually tell him the truth.

(Takemichi clenches his fist, immersed in a monologue)

Takemichi: This is a perfect plan, if I do say so myself… With this, Izana-kun will also…

Mikey: Yeah.

(Mikey runs in before Takemichi realized)

Takemichi: Mikey-kun…?

(Mikey punches Izana and sends him flying, landing firmly on the ground.) [Good job following the plan.]

Mikey: You’re Kurokawa Izana!

(Takemichi is so surprised, he’s rendered speechless)

Takemichi: Mikey-kun?!

(Izana stands up)

Izana: What the hell’s up with you?!

Mikey: I’m Sano Manjiro!

(Takemichi noticed Izana is surprised by Mikey’s words)

Izana: You said you’re Shin-nii’s… younger brother?

Takemichi: Mikey-kun…

(Mikey throws another punch)

Mikey: You and Shinichiro aren’t connected by blood!

Takemichi: Mikey-kun!

(Izana returns the punch)

Izana: What the hell are you goin’ on ‘bout, y’bastard?!

(The fist fight between the two turn into an argument)

Mikey: There’s no way you two are siblings! Why would you trust my idiot older brother like that!

Izana: What?! The hell’s wrong with you? Are you an idiot for comin’ here?!

Mikey: You accepted Shinichiro’s words without even questioning it ‘cus you’re lonely, right?! That guy did some digging, but now he can’t take back what he’s said and didn’t even mention he had a younger brother!

(The two face each other)

Mikey: I bet you must’ve noticed it too.

Izana: … Shut uuuppppp! What do you know?! My parents threw me away… I’m here while you have a warm family to raise you. You understand nothing! What if we are blood related?!

Mikey: Is it really that important to you?!

(The two start their fist fight again and eventually lay on their backs on the ground)

Mikey and Izana: Haa haa…

Izana: … Shin-nii is my brother! Even if we’re not blood related, he’s still my brother!

Mikey: … Shinichiro said the same thing.

Taiju: Mitsuya. Is Hakkai gonna go at us seriously?

Mitsuya: … Stop calling on the enemy to check up on your baby brother. You and Yuzuha are a pair of spoiled siblings. Hakkai’ll end up that way too.

Flashback quote: “No matter how violent you get on us, mom will never come back!!”

Taiju: Hmph.

(A door forcefully bursts open into a room, where an angry Taiju enters in)

Taiju: Who forgot to turn off the bathroom light?

(Yuzuha and Taiju become frightened)

Hakkai: A… A--

Yuzuha: It’s me!

(Yuzuha protects Hakkai)

Taiju: … Why are you lying?

Yuzuha: Eh?! I’m not lying! It was me!

Taiju: The toilet seat was up. Only men do that.

(Hakkai’s hand clenches tightly at Taiju)

Taiju: Hakkai! Come here!

(Yuzuha interferes to stop Taiju)

Yuzuha: Wait! Don’t beat Hakkai anymore! Let me take his punishments instead! Please!

Hakkai: Sis…

(Hakkai hangs his head down, unable to say anything)

Taiju: You said it. From now on, you’ll take the beating for two people. Is that fine with you, Yuzuha?!

Hakkai: …

(A mysterious voice flashes in Hakkai’s memory!)

Mysterious voice (Mikey): Hakkai!

Hakkai: …!

(Hakkai stands up and faces Taiju)

Hakkai: Stop this already, Taiju!

Yuzuha: Eh…

Taiju: !

(Taiju gets violent with Hakkai)

Taiju: What’re you tryin’ to do here, Hakkai.

Hakkai: Don’t beat up sis anymore! This is ridiculous at how crazy you keep going at us.

Taiju: As I thought, you’re the one who forgot to turn the lights off. How many times have I told you to fix that?

(Hakkai gets hit and falls down. Yuzuha stands and goes beside him)

Hakkai: … I’m sorry for everything up to now, sis.

(Yuzuha is surprised)

Yuzuha: Hakkai.

Hakkai: … My friend told me.

(He recalls Mikey’s voice)

Mikey: It’s okay if you lose. Fight him.

(Taiju turns toward Hakkai)

Hakkai: Cut it out already, Taiju! No matter how violent you get with us, mom’ll never come back to us!

(Taiju is surprised)

Taiju: !… Hakkai.

(Hakkai starts crying)

Hakkai: ‘Cus I’m… I’m lonely…!

Taiju: You…

Kokonoi: Inupi. How’s Akane-san doing?

Inupi: Yeah. I’m gonna go for it.

Kokonoi: … I see.

Flashback quote: “Leave Inupi-kun to me! Hurry up and go back to save Akane-san!”

Kokonoi: Shut up.

(The house is burning with a roaring sound as Kokonoi runs toward it)

Kokonoi: Haa haa… Akane-san!

(Kokonoi desperately addresses someone)

Kokonoi: Fire trucks… Have you seen anyone leave the house?!

Old Lady: I… I’m not sure. I haven’t been able to see anything. I’ll call for the ambulance and fire truck right now!

(Kokonoi turns and suddenly decides to run into the house)

Kokonoi: Akane-san! Akane-san! Haa haa… Akane-san! Akane-san!!

(A mysterious boy suddenly shows up inside the house)

Mysterious boy (Takemichi): Leave Inupi-kun to me! Koko-kun should hurry up and find Akane-san!

Kokonoi: O… Okay.

(Kokonoi continues his search)

Kokonoi: Akane-san! Where are you?! Akane-san! … Akane-san!

(He finally sees her and rushes over. Akane looks like she’s about to pass out)

Akane: … Hajime… kun…?

Kokonoi: I told you I’d protect you, right?

Akane: … Thank you…

(He carries Akane on his back and staggers out)

Old man: Hey! There’s another person who came out!

Old lady: Two people were able to be rescued out of that house. Thank goodness!

Kokonoi: Haa haa…

Seishu: Koko! You were able to save Akane?

Kokonoi: Yeah… But someone else saved you, Inupi.

Seishu: Huh… I was sure it was Koko who saved me. Then… Where are they…?

Kokonoi: … ?

Chifuyu: Baji-san!

Baji: Yo, Chifuyu. It’s finally time, huh.

Chifuyu: Our third big battle! I got Baji-san’s back so you can go all out!

Baji: Oh! I’ll leave it up to you.

Chifuyu: Please leave it up to me.

Kazutora [He a jealous boi]: … Hey, anythin’ goes with you huh? Eh? Eh? When did you join Toman?

Chifuyu: Um… 2004.

Kazutora: Is that right now. And when did I join?

Chifuyu: Um… you’re a founding member, right?

Kazutora: Exactly! This is a photo that only a founding member has!

Chifuyu: Whoa, awesome!

Kazutora: You don’t have this right? Which means I’ve been with Baji much longer, right?

Chifuyu [Poor thing is confused at Tora’s ire]: Ye...ah…?

Kazutora: Baji definitely likes me more, right? You get what I’m gettin’ at, right?

Chifuyu: Yeah.

Takemichi: They’re trying to justify something dumb again.

Kisaki: What are they, kids? I’m surrounded by idiots in Toman.

Takemichi: Idiot. It’s fine as long as you’re the one who’s got it together.

(Takemichi puts his arm around Kisaki’s shoulder and pulls him close)

Kisaki: Stop that. You’re suffocating me.

Takemichi: Rely on me a bit more, partner!

(Some middle school kids are bullying a cat)

Cat: Nya-!

Hina: Hey, Kisaki-kun. That group is bullying the cat! Hina’s gonna complain about this!

(Hina steadily walks toward them)

Kisaki: Ta-Tachibana?!

(Hina faces the middle school boys [MSB])

Hina: Stop that! What’s so fun about doing something like that?!

MSB A: Huh?

MSB B: I hate kids with a strong sense of justice.

MSB A: Hey! The cat ran away.

MSB B: Then you take the place of the cat.

(Hina resists crying)

MSB: Aww, you’re gonna start cryin’? Did you think we’ll let you go if you started cryin’ like this?

(Kisaki watches from afar)

Kisaki: This is why I said stopping them’s useless.

(Takemichi suddenly appears and takes Kisaki’s arm)

Kisaki: Eh?!

(Takemichi brings Kisaki in front of the middle school kids, stepping onto the gravel)

Takemichi: Stop that!

(Kisaki panics)

Kisaki: Wh-what?

Takemichi: We’re the super hero partners! How dare you middle school kids pick on a young girl. That’s unforgivable!

MSB: Huh? What’s up with you guys?

(Kisaki continues to panic as Takemichi neither cries nor trembles)

Kisaki: W-Why are you including me?!

Takemichi: Shaddap! Let’s go Kisaki! You’re a man too, right?!

Kisaki: Wh-What…

(Takemichi dashes)

Takemichi: Ooooohhhh!

(Hina cries)

Takemichi: I didn’t think too much on my actions before and after.

Hina: (crying noises) Hic… I’m sorry…

(Takemichi’s wounds throb from pain)

Takemichi: Ow ow ow…

Hina: Ah, Hina will go buy some bandages!

(Hina’s running footsteps fade out, leaving Takemichi and Kisaki alone together)

Takemichi: … Do you like Hina?

Kisaki: Eh-Um, uh, I--

Takemichi: (smiling wide) I like her too.

(Toman chants)

author's note : i was watching 'the good bad mother' and idk what to say about it. i would to say thank you for enjoying this mini series of mine. actually i have no intention of continuing but seeing how many of you guys enjoyed the first part so i decided to make it parallel with the manga where i started with the first ever time leap by shinichiro then the death of shinichiro, time skip to kanto manji arc and now the ending. i also happened to watched the last episode of tokyo revengers so now i am bored so i decided to read the manga again and again until season three came out lol. so here's the last part of my 'my first story dedication' series because i love the band so much that i would hope that maybe one day my first story would make an ost for tokyo revengers eheh.

i hate weak people. i love tough guys.

kenchin, baji, mitsuya, pahchin and kazutora. including me, the six strongest friends come together and formed tokyo manji gang. despite me suggesting tokyo manjiro gang, but the guys rejected the idea within seconds.

i like strong guys.

but that day...

2005

"watch over me, shin-nii."

i never anyone about this but i miss hoshiko. also because i feel bad for what i did to her. i loved her but i didn't know how to tell her. but it was too late. she already with shin-nii, watching over me.

and then i met these two people who'd change my fate.

kisaki tetta, with just strength isn't enough. what i need is darkness. the more i push it down, the more darkness overflows. i'll just give to my body and kill kazutora.

as i was about to swing my final punch, takemitchy stood in front of me. "takemitchy?" i muttered as takemitchy just smiled. "mikey-kun."

hanagaki takemichi, he wasn't the strongest one ever. but he stood up to me. even though he couldn't beat me, and easy to cry, before i could realized it and he's always there right in the middle.

2007

"why are you getting up?" mikey asked, watching takemichi wobbling while getting up after mikey beaten him up. "do you think you can beat me? after i beaten you up into a pulp?" mikey asked as he just watching takemichi. spitting out blood, takemichi stabilized himself. "i made a promise to your future self." taking a step as the pain of his foot starting to take a toll on him. "to baji-kun." panting as he approaching to where mikey stood at. "and i promised draken-kun, that i cannot lose because," takemichi lunged himself to mikey, readying his punch. "the only one who can save you from the darkness is me!" shouting, takemichi launched himself before getting side-kicked by mikey, causing him to bounced back on his back.

"have you forgetten about hoshiko-san?" takemichi asked, making mikey halted his action of walking towards takemichi.

'mikey-kun!'

'here mikey-kun, your favourite one is the red bean paste right?'

as takemichi launches his way back to mikey once again, rage filled mikey's body. "don't you ever say her name!" mikey shouted and then he kicked takemichi right on his chest, causing takemichi to swayed back like before. "that's right, she would want me to save you too. like emma-chan." takemichi said again and with that, he was brutally kicked by mikey repeatedly where the other members of the two gangs couldn't even dare to interfere just like tenjiku-toman before.

looking back at takemichi, mikey stared at him like he was nothing, like worthless being. "you're seriously gonna die soon." mikey warned, wanting takemichi to stop. takemichi staggered on standing up, looking at mikey.

"come at me, mikey."

mikey feel the anger once again and jumped his way to kick takemichi. "why did you come back takemitchy? you've seen the video i left and i've promised to protect toman and hina-chan, didn't i?" mikey said. "i told you to forget about me!" mikey swung his fist and punches takemichi's face. "now everything i've done is useless."

takemichi stood up back to fight back and swung his fists towards mikey's way. "i came back because i knew what was wrapped yourself in. and i came back to save you." takemichi told him. "i've never known what a dark impulse is, from what waka said, the dark impulse was born out of love." mikey said, making takemichi confused even more. "that man turned back time to save me." mikey told takemichi, as takemichi just stared at him. with blank eyes, mikey stared back at takemichi.

"sano shinichiro is a time leaper."

"he gave the time leap power to some random kid." wakasa told them as he told back the story of what sano shinichiro told him before he died.

"after he gave you his power, days later he died." mikey continued while looking at takemichi. "this dark impulse's real identity was the curse from shinichiro killed the time leaper." mikey said as he placed his hand on his chest. "it affects those around me and, it's eating me alive." mikey said, looking at his chest where he could feel his heart beat racing.

takemichi slowly approching mikey. "you don't have to hold it in anymore." takemichi informed mikey, making mikey looking up at him. "i formed the second generation of toman to save you so release that dark impulse, mikey." takemichi said. mikey dropped his hand from his chest as he could feel something evil lurking out of him.

"whatever happens, it's on you."

with that, mikey didn't realize what happened next.

the fight goes on with mikey grabbing a katana from haruchiyo. and mikey wasn't even himself as smirk follows. the persona inside mikey wasn't even mikey at all. mikey swung the katana and cut a slit upon takemichi's right arm.

"don't you get it hanagaki? you can't break the curse!" haruchiyo shouted as mikey smirked. "they have been merged together that and everyone who are close to him ended up die!" haruchiyo continued.

"and everyone who tries to save him from thr darkness will ended up dying, you're gonna die hanagaki!"

with that, takemichi have been stabbed by mikey.

stoned, mikey has been pulled into a hug by takemichi with the katana buried in his body. "i'm not gonna lose, manjiro because i will shoulder this dark impulse." takemichi said to mikey's ear. "if you're gonna act stupid, i will take you down because you're my friend for life." takemichi continued and after that, blood coming out of his mouth which apparently he was stabbed by the chest.

"friend?" mikey mumbled to himself. within that, the darkness in him went gone and mikey realized the situation he's in. "takemitchy..." mikey looked at the person in his arms. "take my hand, you're the trigger mikey-kun." takemichi informed as he was shakingly grabbing mikey's hand. "what are you saying takemitchy?" mikey said slowly.

staggered, takemichi fall onto his knees. "oi, takemitchy!" mikey shouted, as everyone around were all stunned. "i..." takemichi said slowly, coughing out blood even more. "will go back to past, over and over..." takemichi continued saying throughout the blood. "that's enough takemitchy!" mikey warned. "so that i can smile with you, and everyone that we love and close to heart." takemichi said.

the light was dimmed. mikey felt no movement coming from takemichi as he lightly shaking takemichi's body. not moving or reacting, takemichi fell onto mikey's chest. "AAAAAHHHHHHHH!" falling onto his knees, takemichi fell onto his laps and mikey repeatedly shaking takemichi in order to wake him up. sobbing, mikey grabbed takemichi's hands. "i distanced myself so that none of this would happen! open your eyes, takemitchy!" mikey shouted as tears falling out of his eyes, not wanting to accept what it is happening right in front of him.

1998

hearing a banter, hoshiko shocked by the noise which soon followed by a punching sound. emma got up and left hoshiko in the living room to see the ruckus. hoshiko stood up as well and followed emma. "oi keisuke!" emma shouted as she placed her fists on her waist. "don't fight in front of other people's house!" emma pointed out and takemichi looked at emma. "emma-chan.." then he looked at the girl next to emma. "hoshiko-san.." hoshiko weirded out as she looked at takemichi. "do we know each other?" hoshiko questioned. "oi what is this ruckus all about?" a voice said walking towards where everyone is at. "oi keisuke, what's going on right in the morning huh?" it was shinichiro. "you're being too loud." shinichiro mumbled. "wait, who are you?" shinichiro asked takemichi, causing the kids there were looking at him as well.

takemichi felt awkward as he realized that he has time-leaped into time where everyone hasn't met him yet. "huh, who are you?" it was mikey. can't believe his eyes, takemichi's eyes got teared up. "mikey-kun.."

"you're, takemitchy? realized mikey, as he remembers those eyes. takemichi stared at mikey and he shocked by the nickname. 'how could he-'

"is it really you takemitchy?" mikey asked. "huh.." was all takemichi uttered out. "no way.."

"WE TIME-LEAPED TOGETHER!" and with that, the two of them went off running. "what's wrong with them?" shinichiro asked. "beats me." keisuke replied.

"mikey! don't forget to come back for dinner!" hoshiko reminded as she waved her arm.

2017

"will do!" mikey replied as takemichi stood in front of the sano residence, on his bike. mikey ride on the back as takemichi turned on his bike given by mikey as present during their youth. hoshiko stood in front of the sano residence gate, watching mikey and takemichi. "be safe okay, make sure everything is well prepared." hoshiko reminded, making both mikey and takemichi chuckled. "okay got it hoshiko-chan." takemichi replied. hoshiko smiled as she rubbing her pregnant stomach.

in 2005, mikey accepted hoshiko's confession as encouraged by emma one day while preparing chocolates for valentine's day. starting from there, even being the captain of toman, hoshiko accepted mikey for who he is and mikey for who she is. hoshiko became of the woman of toman and was well-protected by the members of toman as a sign of loyalty to the captain.

in 2008, shinichiro married to someone he met at his shop. he knew that was a love at first sight and the girl was also a motorbike enthusiast, same as him. also mikey and hoshiko graduated from high school. with support from her parents, hoshiko pursued her studies in collage in journalism so now hoshiko is a chief editor in one of biggest magazine company in tokyo.

married to mikey in 2015, both of them are now a proud parents-to-be. the baby will be due during autumn time. both of them are the current residence of sano residence with sano mansaku since both shinichiro and emma moved out right after getting married. nevertheless, both lived near so whenever there are family events, they won't missed it. shinichiro continued working in ss motors alongside with his wife as co-owner and emma as a housewife to draken, who works with mikey as his mechanic for top of manji, mikey's motorsport team as he is the racer for the team. as for izana, he continued living in yokohama as director of tenjiku, which he occasionally travelling but still based in yokohama.

life is nice when you are surrounded with good people.

july 11, 2017

the day has comes by and it is now takemichi and hinata's wedding day. the venue itself was extravagant. fillied with toman's former members, which all of them are really living the life.

hoshiko took a seat which has been assigned her name which with the rest of the sano family. mikey went to the groom's dressing room to congratulate takemichi himself. hoshiko already met with hinata with emma but left first since the pregnancy itself has been exhausting for hoshiko. "oh shiko-chan!" shinichiro's wife greeted as she took a seat next to hoshiko's left. "nee-san." hoshiko greeted back, bowing her head lightly. "where's mikey?" shinichiro asked as he took a seat next to his wife's left. "he's with the groom." hoshiko told him as he nodded his head. "ah."

"groom takemichi, do you take hinata as your lawful wedded wife to cherish and promise to be faithful to her for as long as you both shall live?" the minister asked and as he finished asking, he looked at takemichi which makes mikey looked at his wife. realized that mikey turned his head, hoshiko looked at mikey, smiling lightly. "what is it?" hoshiko asked whispering. "i love you." mikey whispered back, making hoshiko blushed with the sudden confession.

the vow exchanged to hinata and mikey continued on looking at his wife. "you know you suppose to say it back right?" mikey whispered and hoshiko giggled as she detected an upset mikey. placing her hand on his left cheek, mikey leaned into it. "i love you too mikey, for as long as i shall live." hoshiko whispered back, reciting her vow from two years ago. smiling, mikey grabbed his wife's placed hand and kissed her palm. intertwined their hands together, mikey placed it on his left thigh, continued to watch the ceremony as both takemichi and hinata now exchange wedding rings.

"you may now kiss the bride." the minister announced and without a blink, both groom and bride kissed to seal the vow and everyone starting to cheer and clapping hands.

“How hard is it to take out the trash? You literally can just throw it from this window.” Morin scolded before tossing a bulk trash bag onto the piling ones on the alley outside.

“I will take note of that. Thanks.” The boy says before opening the door to his room. “I didn’t really pin you as the clean freak.”

“I’m not, [ Y / N ] is. Oh, Can I use your bathroom? Thanks.” Morin excused herself before locking herself in the comfort room.

“Sorry for calling you out here so suddenly, Chifuyu.” He spoke upon seeing the boy at his door.

“So you got some info?” He asks, letting himself enter.

“Yeah. and there’s a lot!” Takemichi exclaimed, pondering where to start.

“So Tenjiku was made under Izana’s grudge towards his own blood-related brother, Mikey…” Chifuyu spoke upon taking in what Takemichi had told.”Yup.”

“Damn, who would’ve known he’s also involved with Toman’s formation…” Chifuyu scratched the back of his head, surprised by Izana’s involvement dating way back to Shinichiro. It was until the bathroom door opened, he wondered who else was in the household.

“At least your bathroom is clean. I like your hand soap, what’s it called?” Morin blurted upon returning, not realizing Chifuyu’s presence until she looked back up.

“Who’s this?” Chifuyu asked flatly.

Morin gasped upon realizing, “Is this him?” She looks at Hanagaki.

“Woah, do I know you?” Chifuyu asks, surprised.

“Alright, I need you two to listen!” Takemichi blurted.

“Chifuyu, have I mentioned anything to you about [ Y / N ] in the future?”

“Right, [ Y / N ]! How— is she alright? Did she end up with Mikey?” He asks, intrigued.

“Yeah… and, just before I got back here, I found out that they were also expecting a kid together.” He spoke bittersweetly.

“Wait, really?” Chifuyu asks. “Mhm, But then… you know.” Takemichi scowled.

“Right…”

“And it seems that I’m not the only one who can time leap because… she is that kid.” He gestured towards the blonde girl. “Wait…”

“Chifuyu, this is Morin. [ Y /N ] and Mikey-kun’s kid in the future.”

“WHAT?! How is this even possible… I mean, I know they are gonna end up together at some point, but… how is she here? Are you really—? Oh my god, you do look like him!” Chifuyu stammered, his eyes not able to focus on either person.

“This is really weird to me too, trust me.” Morin added.

“Although, [ Y / N ] and Mikey don't know yet. She met Draken-kun and we told him we’re cousins.” Takemichi explained.

“That’s a bad lie. You look nothing alike.” Chifuyu pointed out. “We didn’t really have a choice.” Morin says.

“Also… You don’t have to get involved, Chifuyu.” Takemichi spoke.

“What? The fuck you saying?”

“Naoto died.” He replied.

“What…” Chifuyu’s expressions dropped.

“And I really can't go back to the future anymore. There will be no next time. I don’t know why, but we’ll make up with Tenjiku somehow. And the reasons why Mikey fell under the hands of Izana and Kisaki. I’ll end this whole shitty sibling fight.” Takemichi says.

“I will kill Izana and Kisaki. I’m even prepared to stab them.” He added in all seriousness. “I beg you… please understand, Chifuyu.”

“What about the first division?” He replied. “Please explain this to them.”

“Eh?”

“When you invited me, I called the rest of them too.” Chifuyu spoke before calling in the first division members of Toman who had been waiting outside.

Takemichi glanced at Morin in worry before she insisted on going on with the “cousin” lie.

“So, we doing this?!” Yamagishi exclaimed and shifted the mood of the room, which had lifted Takemichi’s spirit.

“Who’s the girl—” Makoto peeked through Takuya’s shoulder.

“Hey! Stop looking at my cousin like that!” Takemichi scowled once more.

“COUSIN?!” The boys exclaimed, not aware of this particular relative of his.

Shortly, the first division squad decided to initiate a meeting in order to make a sense out of their rival gang.

However, just as they were about to start, Morin heard a car pull over nearby, which was then followed by a loud bang of the door closing. She peeked through the window to see a white-haired guy in a mask, standing still by the car.

She made herself unseen before squinting her eyes, gasping as she immediately recognized those notable blue eyes and white lashes, his distinct scar hiding under a black mask. “Sanzu is here.” She turned to the boys.

“Is the first division captain there?” Sanzu yelled from outside.

“Huh? The hell?! We were just starting!” Takemichi exclaimed.

“Come down.” Sanzu called.

The first division shared a look before collectively agreeing to head down and into the driveway. Morin decided to follow suit, but was stopped immediately.

“I think you should stay here. I have a bad feeling.” Chifuyu held his arm out to stop her from walking. With no time to question, Morin agreed and remained in the house, but keeping an eye on them through staying behind the curtain on the windows.

She couldn’t make out what the guys outside were saying, but it was obvious that there was heat among the two groups. As members of their division began to round Chifuyu and the other five, a man larger than Sanzu exited from the vehicle shortly after.

No words were exchanged, but a punch was thrown to Takemichi while the others were held back.

“Oh, shit!” Morin exclaimed as he was tossed across the street as his friends helplessly watched in pain. She had never seen a petty gang brawl before. She had certainly heard about it from her mother on several occasions, but she might have misjudged how serious they really were.

Sanzu’s eyes trailed to the side where he heard a voice— which was faint but near.

Morin was quick to notice this, and she immediately withdrew from sight.

“Take him in the car.” She heard Sanzu demand before hearing their footsteps weaver. “No, no.” She whispered, assuming that the only person she can trust is being taken away.

Upon hearing the car leave, she leaves the house only to see Chifuyu and the Mizo mid being held back by the fifth division members. “Motherfucker…” She ran up to Chifuyu first, landing a kick on the guy that held him back.

“You even kick almost as perfect as him.” Chifuyu pointed out before relaxing his arms, heading to the five along with Morin.

“You believe me now?” She chuckled. Alongside Chifuyu, they fought off the fifth division members who towered over Takemichi’s friends.

“Damn it, they took him.” Morin cursed as she caught her breath. “Black Mitsubishi, right?” She asks, running to the motorcycle she stole not long ago.

“Are you crazy? You’ll tail them?!” Chifuyu exclaimed.

“Yeah. See you.” She nodded before sending him a wave, revving the engine a few times before heading off.

While following Sanzu's car felt like it took an hour, it was stressful to camp outside the sketchy building they stopped at.

Just as Morin had built up the courage to storm in, she sees two figures stumble and flee off the place through its backdoor. “Michi?” She tilted her head as she observed the two, not able to recognize the other guy that he was with.

“Damn it.” She jumps on the motorcycle's back and takes off quickly so as not to startle the captains of the fifth division within the structure.

Inupi and Takemichi eventually collapsed in an abandoned building covered in graffiti and beat-up bicycles. It was far enough away from the building and not overrun with people.

“Mikey?” Head dizzy and vision obstructed from fatigue, Inupi spoke out upon seeing a person approach them in their motorcycle. He could recognize those long blonde locks from afar.

“What the fuck happened here?” Pulling over in front of the two, Morin switches off the engine of the motorcycle.

“Inupi, this is Morin-chan.” Takemichi says.

“Oh.”

“There is a traitor in Toman.” He turns to the girl. “It’s Mucho-kun. He also took Koko in exchange to let us go.” He explained. “So, he’s with Tenjiku now.”

“I’ll fight with Toman too.” Inupi added.

“We’re going to let Mikey-kun know about what happened.” Takemichi spoke.

“I’ll get my ride.” Inupi struggled to stand up, dusting off his clothes.

“You should come. I think it’s time for you to meet him and [ Y / N ].” Takemichi insisted.

“What, like, right now?” She exclaimed.

“Yes, it’s about time.” He persuaded.

“So, are you in or out?”

EARLIER THAT DAY…

[ Y / N ]'s garage doors were open as she repaired an engine part in a workbench.

There was no question that onlookers could hear her annoyance and the tools clattering against the wooden table.

“Why the fuck won’t you budge?!” She exclaimed, turning the bolt driver clockwise.

“Wrong direction.” Upon hearing that voice, she calmed down a little, relaxing her hands that were tense. Mikey had snuck from behind before holding the driver that was still in her hand, guiding her with the right way to lock the bolt.

[ Y / N ] froze like an antelope in headlights, not expecting to see the boy so soon after his sudden disappearance just the day before. She's lately just picked up on this habit of his- isolating himself after something had upset or angered him.

She was concerned at first, as no one deserves to have to go through difficulties on their own. But she came to see that this is effective for him, considering how he always returned with a lighter mood.

“Thanks.” She turns to smile at Mikey.

“You’re welcome.” He nodded.

“You’re back…” She mentioned calmly, wiping off the grease from her hands before embracing the guy. When her arms wrapped around his body, Mikey let out an audible yelp, his lips curving into a sweet smile he wished she could see.

“Do you wanna talk about it?” She asks, her thumb carefully stroking his shoulder blade in an instinct.

His eyes shut in comfort, returning the embrace with one arm before politely saying, “Not now.”

“That’s fine. I don’t need to know if you don’t want to.” [ Y / N ] withdrew from his arms before looking up at him with a reassuring smile,

“But you can never stop me from trying to comfort you. Fact of life— you’re just gonna have to deal with it.” He couldn't form coherent thoughts upon hearing her reassuring words. Just when he thought he couldn't adore this girl any more, it's as if she intuitively knows precisely what he needs to hear without even letting on. It amuses him, truly.

“Now, d’you need help with your project?” She asks, noticing the box of motorcycle parts tied to his motorcycle.

“Yeah. I found these from Shin’s stuff.” He muttered.

“You're building a motorcycle?! That's fucking sick. How can I help?” She exclaimed, jogging to the box and inspecting its contents. “Let's start with preparing the parts.” Mikey joins her shortly.

[ Y / N ] helps him get the parts on the workbench, and she also gets a glance of the time on the clock. It was twelve high noon, remembering she had important matters to attend to. “Although, I need to go somewhere first. I’ll be back very quickly.” She says.

“Oh, well, I’ll be here.” Mikey assured, watching [ Y / N ] get in the car safely. “You can call Kenchin if you want, I have a phone there.” She says before waving him goodbye and then speeding off to the road.

ISEZAKICHO, YOKOHAMA

This place is famous for being a shopping district in Yokohama, and it is also home to one of the best diners in town.

They provide delicious food and pastries that are worth the trip. Despite having grown up in this city, [Y / N ] misses not having learned about this location when she was still a local in the area.

“Of course. It’s a weird order.” Marie pointed out.

“Hey, how’s that boy you told me about? Mikey, is it?” She asks.

“He’s… fine. As I hope. I’m seeing him after this.” [ Y / N ] replied.

“That’s great! You get along pretty good, huh? You sound great together.”

“Well, I feel the exact way.” She smiled, taking a big bite off of the muffin.

“By the way, great news! So, ap— Shit. My manager’s here.” Marie cursed upon seeing the older man enter the doors, cleaning [ Y / N ]’s crumbs off of the counter.

“Aren’t you gonna get in trouble for giving me free stuff?” [ Y / N ] asks, rushing to finish the cup of coffee.

“I will. So go leave through the back door.” The lady opened the counter doors, “Thanks for the snacks, Marie-sama!” [ Y / N ] waved with a half-eaten muffin in hand as she rushed down the kitchen and into the diner’s back door.

“Close the door, brat!” Marie scolded.

“ File: [ Y / N ] [ L / N ] “ [ Y / N ] stared at the brown envelope in dismay as she walked towards her parked car. “Damnit.” She cursed, tossing it to the backseat.

However, upon closing the doors, her back bumped against a tall figure, instantly recognizing the man by his long, braided hair. “The hell?”[ Y / N ] exclaimed, turning the other way, which was immediately blocked by Rindou.

“Now, this brings back memories.” Ran chuckled, recalling the “bloody halloween” event where they’d held [ Y / N ] back when she attempted to help Toman fight against Valhalla.

“The boss requests your presence.” He simply spoke, immediately sending [ Y / N ] into deep thought and worry.

Maybe, it wasn’t such a good idea to visit home…

Wait I love the idea of bringing that girl back?? I always hated how wakui didn't exploit the potential of that first plot and basically there was no impact to that event, it would be amazing. Kisaki facing his first victim directly would be amazing. For a short fic she just kills him and that's such a more fitting death for him tbh, getting hope for survival and finally getting karma. Hanma being sympathetic? Maybe in wake of his newly found empathy born through seeing Kisaki almost dead but otherwise I don't feel like he would give a fuck that guy beats up people on the regular and has seen some fucked up shit (depending on the hc, done some of his own fucked up shit too). Oooh in that one fic where kisaki goes to juvie when he gets out he works with south who he met there to kill everyone ~ there's a whole plot about it but its not the subject~ I loooove takemichi being like oh he's on the run he probably can't do anything :/ and then boom he does. Lmaooo hanma the only one happy about kisaki surviving - he gets obsessive about kisaki's safety ofc, and kisaki with only hanma to rely on for every single need of his- the codependy my beloved. Takemichi learning how to fight in jail with kazutora and pah chin! Trying to therapy talk with those two and addressing his own underlying issues! Yeah.

Hina going through her own conflict, finding out the sweet kid she knew has turned into a murderer and her bf tried to kill him too. Rebellious phase with her controlling father- senju helps? Teaches her how to fight and stands up for herself?

@gratuiciel ur tags hurt me (and I love that) I'm fascinated with depressed era hanma, the fact that he relaxed thinking that Kisaki got away! Only to find his corpse on the road. Keeps thinking about what he could've done, if he had hold on to the bike better, if he had spent less time fighting with draken, and yeah always looking back at these six (6!) months of his life where everything was so colorful and he took it for granted. Maybe the first time in his life where he actually (somewhat) cared about another human being, only to have it ripped out from him.

I always wondered how he came to be in bonten, especially as he wasn't that useful anyway. We joke about Hanma being just some guy at the end of the manga but there was something to be done with him that just didn't happen and it makes me sad. So many fanart of him going back into the past and meeting little Kisaki... I want to develop that idea cuz I feel like he would try to shape into the boy he remembers but at the same time he would be scared to death of something happening to Kisaki. Plus, with the kid not being lonely to death I doubt he would develop that same passion for Hinata. But even if Hanmas not a time traveller, just the idea of him taking revenge on Takemichi and Mikey in Bonten is just, chef's kiss. Wanna write something about that (girl who has 1384949 wips)

About Izana and Kakucho

Well, I’m still worried about Kakucho’s whereabouts. My hope is that, like after Tenjiku, he will be able to survive.

I was really upset when Takemichi forget about him when Taiju arrived. However, if I imagine an extended part of that chapter, it would be like this:

Taiju: “Captain, you are the only one who can defeat Mikey”

Takemichi: “Right, I’m here to save Mikey-kun. I’m sorry, Kaku-chan. If I give up now, your death would be in vain. I have to go. Thank you, Kaku-chan. You are my dear friend, I won’t forget about your sacrifice”

If only we had just one page more, it would have been enough.

Anyway, out of curiosity, I bought Tenjiku character book. Then, I started to wonder how Tenjiku was actually form.

Let’s start from the very roots…

Izana left Emma to go to an “institute” (aka he was abandoned) when Emma was 3 years old. {Quick calculation: Izana was born in 1987, Emma was born in 1991 = their age gap is 4 = Izana was 7 years old at the time}

Izana met Kakucho in orphanage. Probably, it didn’t pass much time from the incident that killed Kakucho’s parents. {Kakucho is the same age of Takemichi, who was born in 1991 —> the incident happen when he was in third year of elementary school = he was (more or less) 7/8 years old = Izana was 11/12 years old}

Within this period (before meeting Kakucho), Izana met Shinichiro .

[I noticed that, even before discovering Emma’s mom is not his biological mother, Izana was not related to Sano family anyway. Even if he were the son of Emma’s mom and her husband (Izana’s real father), Izana is not blood related to Shinichiro. Well, he would still be Emma half-brother, though]

Izana learned to be a delinquent by Shinichiro. Izana has probably suffered solitude and racism (because of his looks?). Kakucho said that Izana got revenge on a group of kids that beat him when he was 12. He was probably bullied by other kids.

Because of that, he was sent to juvie and met the other future founding members of Tenjiku (it’s stated that he was 13 at the time).

But Izana came up with the gang name “Tenjiku” with Kakucho when they were children. Their idea of <Tenjiku> wasn’t the actual Tenjiku we know.

Tenjiku (the gang) was formed because Kisaki manipulated Izana in wanting to destroy Mikey. At the time, Izana was still depressed because of Shinichiro’s death (remember they had a fight, and maybe Shinichiro died before resolving this thing with Izana).

(Why Izana hated Mikey so much? When he was with Black Dragons, he was observing Mikey - source: blu-ray booklet/extra manga. Could it be that Izana know about Mikey’s dark impulse? Izana wanted to be Shinichiro’s only brother, that’s true. But in his letter he said that hearing about Mikey caused him headache. Maybe he tried to learn more about Mikey and he accidentally saw the dark impulses)

Anyway, Izana was really hurt when he discovered that Shinichiro is not his brother. And Kisaki took advantage of that weakness and convinced him to forget the truth and so he became obsessed with Mikey.

On another side, before knowing the truth, Izana got along well with Kakucho. They grew up like brothers. Izana played the role of Shinichiro for Kakucho. But Kakucho wasn’t able to cure Izana’s loneliness.

Personally, I think that, despite their king-servant relationship, they had a healthy relationship. But Izana was able to be a good brother to Kakucho because he had Shinichiro as a role model. Without him, he was lost.

“Tenjiku” was Izana and Kakucho dream. It wasn’t meant to be a gang. It was meant to be a safe place for them, who were orphans (Kakucho said that orphans bond was something Takemichi can’t understand).

Izana created Tenjiku gang because he allowed Kisaki to manipulate him (Kisaki is a really good manipulator). I think that the idea of killing Emma is Kisaki’s. Izana only gave the OK. He was unstable at the time, but he regret it later.

Also, it is implied that Emma died in the alternative timelines where Izana wasn’t involved, too. It was all part of Kisaki’s plan.

Another reason why I think Izana knew about Mikey’s dark impulses is because Izana is obsessed with the concept of “vicious”. Maybe he wanted to be more like Mikey, and so he transformed the 8 generation of Black Dragons. He wanted Shinichiro to prioritize him a not Mikey. To that goal, he needed to be a leader = need to be charismatic = need others to be afraid of him.

Izana had a messed life and messed values, but to Kakucho he was a good “brother”. Kakucho didn’t get corrupted by vicious values. Izana didn’t force him to become vicious, that’s mean he really care for him. Otherwise, he would have got ridden of him.

Tokyo Revengers - The Best Kind of Revenge Is Compassion

��I don’t care if I can’t be like Mikey-kun! Because I’m Takemichi Hanagaki!”

I heard this line from a famous article about being comfortable with yourself. Perfection is an oppressor. It puts you at odds with who you want to be, not should. I started following Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers and there’s one powerful moment in its introduction arc where substance can win over style.

Tokyo Revengers is about a young man named Takemichi Hanagaki who somehow has the ability to travel back in time to his past high school self. In his present timeline, Takemichi’s old girlfriend from high school, Hinata Tachibana, is dead. Takemichi realizes he can save Hinata from death as it was caused by a delinquent gang known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. He joins the Tokyo Manji Gang in order to save Hinata and change the future into one where she’s alive.

Even though he has grand ambitions, Takemichi isn’t a super-strong hero. He’s weak compared to the two Tokyo Manji Gang leaders, Manjiro “Mikey” Sano and Ken “Draken” Ryujugi. Takemichi manages to gain the trust of Mikey and Draken and helps to prevent certain events from occurring all while reuniting with Hinata. After preventing major deaths in a massive gang fight, Takemichi runs off to celebrate with Hinata at a summer festival.

However, Takemichi finds out that death flags are still apparent after the gang fight. He runs into a rogue Tokyo Manji member named Masataka “Kiyomasa” Kiyomizu. Kiyomasa wants to kill Draken for ruining his life. Takemichi is confronted by Kiyomasa and he becomes instantly passive in a slave-like fashion. Kiyomasa once controlled Takemichi, but the future Takemichi decided to take things into his own hands back in Volume 1. After getting beat up by Kiyomasa, Takemichi is comforted by Hinata. He then berates himself.

“I don’t want you to see me at my worst! If I was Mikey-kun, or Draken-kun, I could’ve dealt with these guys, no problem!! I’d just beat’em up and get shit done! But I’m just...! I’m just...garbage.”

Hinata then kisses him and tells him.

“I gave it to you, because you’re a special person. You aren’t Draken-kun. And you aren’t Mikey-kun, either. Takemichi-kun is Takemichi-kun. You shed tears for other people, without holding back, and you worry about other people from the bottom of your heart. That’s who you are, Takemichi-kun.

There’s nobody else as cool as you.”

Those words are so touching. I literally cried because two of the best qualities that people say about me is that I’m kind and care about other people. I also think back to famous organizational psychologist Adam Grant once said about raising good children that are socially responsible. Instead of asking his kids during dinner questions like “How did you do at school today?”, “How was your day?”, Adam asked something like “Who did you help this week?” He goes on to say that when you tell kids that they are helpers, they’re more likely to be generous towards others.

While Mikey and Draken are indeed “cooler,” their actions led to severe consequences that have hurt those around them. They don’t think about how their actions affect other people at times due to being stubborn about their principles. I know hard work and determination gets people far, but getting ahead to where you want to be involves helping people. I sometimes feel that helping and caring about someone takes a lot of courage. It’s an act of vulnerability that benefits both parties. 

I feel the best kinds of leaders are those that can relate and care about those under them. Unfortunately, I don’t see too many of those types. A lot of people need genuine caring right now. Even those who are supposed to help just act distant at times. I want to say it’s okay to care. It’s okay to care a lot. Your emotions and feelings about those around you do matter. I think worrying about other people is a sign that you’re a human being who is either burnt-out by modern life’s mantras and/or somehow managed to walk away from the cycle. 

That’s why I love Hinata’s words. It’s okay to give a fuck about other people. There’s no shame in that. We’re all interdependent with one another. I like self-care as much as anyone, but the kind of self-care I see that’s being promoted doesn’t address root problems based around trauma and genuinely improving mental health. Takemichi thanks Hinata and realized that he needs to take “revenge“ against his past trauma of being bullied. He eventually confronts Kiyomasa and manages to beat him in a fight despite his limited strength. 

They say the best kind of revenge is to live well, but I would argue that it’s to live well and be compassionate towards those around you. That creates the future timeline where we can all thrive with joy.
