being a British SPG fan is so fun because I know Jack shit about American geography, but since SPG mostly tour in America, I’m learning where things are. yesterday I learned San Diego was a city in California and not a state. Today I learned that Detroit is in FUCKING MICHIGAN???? And not like??? New York like I’d been assuming????? what will I learn next!!

Completely random question especially for my fellow American friends: What state do you canonize Arthur from?
I know it's purposely foggy in the game, especially knowing that some real States are canon and others aren't... What we know for sure is that he is from somewhere in the North and that his mother loved a certain type of flower that grew in California and Oregon (considering this dialogue he has about the flower beside his bed with Mary-Beth). Need your experienced opinion on this!!

being italian online can be frustrating because some people from over usa are weirdly obsessed with our country and will bend the basic working of logic to claim they are italian too "italian is an ethnicity you don't have to be italian to be italian" brother are you listening to yourself

Masked trogon for day 15!
[ID: digital illustration of a masked trogon perched on a thick branch, which has moss and lichens on it. The specimen is a male, thus its head, crown and chest is iridescent green, it has a dark mask, a bright yellow beak and a big, orange eye with a big pupil. The belly is bright red and the tips of the tail feathers are white. The background is bright green with a darker green frame. End ID.]

Hispanic Heritage Month + Band of Brothers
For the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 - Oct. 15), I rolled up my sleeves to do some research on Latinos who served in Easy Company.
Here's who I found…
Antonio C. "Tony" Garcia
Here's the bio & gif set I made for him:
Ynez M. "Tito" Mendoza
Ynez was born September 22, 1925 in California. His parents, Jose and Carlota, were both born in Mexico and had immigrated to the U.S.
He enlisted in Los Angeles in January 1944, and joined Easy Company as a replacement. In October 1944, he was wounded in the lower leg by artillery, but returned to the line December 1944.
After the war, he married and had 3 children. He died on June 30, 2011 at the age of 85.
Wiliam S. "Guillermo" Metzler
William was born and raised in Naco, Arizona. His parents, Francisco and Julia, were born in Hermosillo, in the Mexican state of Sonora. They married, and later immigrated with their first two sons to Arizona, where William and his other siblings were later born.
He was living in Los Angeles when he volunteered for the U.S. Army in August 1942. He was one of the original members of Easy Company and trained at Toccoa.
He was killed in action in Normandy on June 24, 1944, at the age of 22.
Sergio G. Moya
Sergio was born on February 24, 1921, in San Francisco, California.
In February 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was one of the original members of Easy Company and trained at Toccoa.
He was on the C-47 plane with Lt. Meehan that was shot down over Normandy by German anti-aircraft fire on June 6th, 1944 (D-Day). He died at the age of 23.
Joseph "Joe" Ramirez
Here's the bio & gif set I made for him:

Every time a certain breed of leftist talks about how they'd just rather burn the system down than take a minor step to vote for a candidate they're not in love with, I'm reminded that they know almost nothing of what it's like to endure a regime change. They can't imagine how if things changed, they wouldn't be on top. Even the few things my dad would talk about, which are far less than what he likely experienced, and the reasons why my family got out of South America, are traumatic.
And they don't actually like democracy, they just like power and control, and assume they'd be the ones in charge. And that is not the way it'd shake out.

There comes a point when you are doing too much research for fanfic, and that point is probably way before you’re looking up the interactions between the Cocos and Nazcas plates in order to decide where you would put a fictional island if you want it off the coast of Colombia.
#somebody take the internet away from me#because I am about ten minutes from taking this map of the Teri if plates and using it to map out the Disney Universe#because where would Atlantis be? with all the earthquakes it has to be on a fault line#Beuaty and the Beast takes place in rural France#but what about Frozen? Arandelle is vaguely Norway but is it a part of Norway? or next to it?#Tangled is sorta in Germany (even though their kingdom has a Spanish name)#plus thanks to the TV show we know there’s other kingdoms around Corona that are not Germany#Jesus Christ the Eurasian plate is huge#is this map accurate? it can’t actually be that big#is this why that woman from Amsterdam was so baffled by the idea of earthquakes?#ANYWAY!#this map says that the South American plate is moving west aka converging with the plates immediately west of it#and this map shows an underwater mountain range right where the South American plate meets the Nazcas plate soooooo#that’s where I would put a fictional island#just a little North east of Isla Isabela#it would be roughly triangular#relatively protected from hurricanes but would have frequent earthquakes#hmmmmm technically speaking that’s north of the equator and on the east side of the Pacific Ocean Gyre#so the water at the western beaches would still be pretty cool#the eastern beaches would be warmer#ok I’ve figured out the geography of my fictional Disney kingdom#now…#to figure out the actual plot of this fic#oh and that tag up there should say tetonic plates not Teri If plates#damn autocorrect
