Internships, Work-Studies, OPT, and Job Hunting: Advice from a Peer Mentor
THE IMPORTANCE OF INTENTIONALITY
At the age of 16, Giulia Lins enrolled in a program called The Rotary Youth Exchange. This program allowed young, aspiring students to visit a new country for a period of time — but there was a catch. Students were placed randomly in one of three countries. Through a bit of luck, the U.S. chose Giulia, and she got to spend a year living in the state of Vermont.
So was it luck that landed Giulia in the U.S.? Maybe. Throughout her journey, Giulia has, time and time again, “stumbled” into fortunate circumstances, including her youth exchange program, peer mentorship opportunities, and even an OPT (Optional Practical Training) internship. Giulia actively seeks out new opportunities — it’s not so much a coincidence when you create your own luck. She says:
“My main advice is — be proactive about what you’re trying to do. Be intentional. Don’t just expect it to happen. Don’t just say, ‘I want to study in the United States,’ and then wait for help from your parents or somebody else — you need to be constantly active and proactive; you need to go after it because otherwise, it’s not going to happen.”
Giulia controls what she can control — when you do that, the world has a way of rewarding you for your hard work.
Here are other articles that can help you:
What is the Difference Between OPT and CPT?
Applying for an OPT
Optional Practical Training and Internships
The importance of experience
After her youth exchange stay in Vermont, during which she fell in love with American culture, Giulia knew that she wanted to study abroad in the U.S. after finishing high school. Rather than jump straight to a four-year college, Giulia decided to complete her general requirements through Lane Community College (LCC) in Eugene, Oregon. After a bit of exploration during her first term, Giulia changed her major to business and continued working toward her associate degree.
In her last term at Lane, through the college’s International Student Peer Mentor Program, she had the opportunity to start an OPT internship in the international office that eventually led to a year-long staff position as admission and staff-recruitment assistant. The OPT internship gave Giulia an opportunity to take a break before pursuing her bachelor’s degree to gain some real-world work experience (including some marketing work, which appealed to her because it combines aspects of business and creativity). The OPT provided a chance for Giulia to determine if this type of work was the right career path for her.
“OPT can bring everyone great benefits. It helped me understand who I am as a professional and as a person. It helped me understand my professional environment, my chosen market of business concentration. It helped me understand what my life would be like eventually. It helped me understand: how can I use the next two years of college to help me become a better professional? Because right now in the market, I know what they’re looking for. I’m in the market.”
Thanks to her OPT internship, Giulia gained the experience to embark on her next journey at the University of Oregon studying marketing. Best of luck, Giulia! Not that you’ll need it. :)

Jay Wiseman's "Closing Argument" On Breath Play covers this, but mostly in regards to Judo (trained martial arts), as well as in police force. However Jay states:
I have formally studied judo, jujitsu, aikido, and tai chi. In March of 1981, I earned a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do from the Martial Arts Sports Program at Cal State University, Hayward in Hayward, California. During my martial arts training, particularly my judo training, I was taught how to apply various chokeholds and both applied them to others and had them applied to me, in both structured practice sessions and during freestyle matches.
Under "critics of chokeholds argue, in part-"
3. That martial artists are acting in an environment where what they do is closely monitored by highly trained third parties who can and will intervene if necessary (and not alone with their partner in a bedroom while both people are in the throes of passion. Under these circumstances, as one breath play enthusiast herself noted, "It's easy to go too far."
Also:
While acknowledging this safety record when such chokeholds are attempted INSIDE the walls of a martial arts academy, when they are attempted OUTSIDE the walls of such a place then the picture rapidly becomes much murkier and much more controversial. In police work, for example, so many people have died after having chokeholds applied to them by "properly trained" police officers, with consequences such as numerous wrongful death civil suits, that many police departments have either now reclassified chokeholds from "non-deadly force" to "deadly force" measures (meaning that an officer is justified in applying a chokehold to someone only if the officer would also be justified in shooting them), or have outright banned the use of chokeholds entirely.
Then in section 9 "Harm reduction?" (Bolding mine)
D. Get Martial Arts Training
The current "state of the art" as regards breath play in the BDSM community is a one-time class, lasting about one to two hours, concentrating on the how-to aspects with little or no education as regards the underlying anatomy and physiology of what's involved (and with much of the anatomy and physiology information that the presenter does offer being highly flawed.) It's been suggested that if you want to choke your partner during sex then you should attend a few months of classes at a martial arts academy to learn "proper" choking techniques. This likely has at least some benefit. (Numerous forensic pathology authors note that strangling by hand seems to be especially risky -- a cautionary message for those who wish to combine, say, a bit of manual strangulation with missionary position sex.)
Certainly by attending such classes the student will learn the difference between what's sometimes called a "carotid sleeper" hold, which involves compressing the arteries in the neck between the forearm and upper arm while avoiding significant pressure on the windpipe (and is generally allowable), and what's sometimes called an "arm bar" hold which compresses the windpipe with the forearm (and is generally not allowable). The student will also likely get an opportunity to both apply such chokeholds and have such chokeholds applied to them.
Further, all of this will occur in a monitored environment with both referees and (hopefully) First Aid/CPR trained people immediately available to keep things sane and to intervene if necessary. This means, among other things, that students who incline towards being a bit "over-enthusiastic" about applying chokeholds to others will know quite well that such third party "umpires" are present and are therefore likely modify their enthusiasm. (Such umpires will, of course, likely not be present when two people are enthusiastically doing breath play in the privacy of their bedrooms.)
Getting such training is all well and good, however the problem here is that while "properly applied" chokeholds have an excellent safety record when applied within martial arts schools, applying them outside of a martial arts school is a much more problematic matter. Let me note briefly here -- I'll touch on it later in more detail -- that one of the major problems facing the breath play enthusiast is that causing harm or death by applying a chokehold during a formal practice session at a recognized martial arts school has a fairly good chance of being legally defensible, whereas causing harm or death by applying exactly the same chokehold during erotic "breath control play" games is legally utterly indefensible. It's like two grown-ups deciding to play-wrestle in their back yard during a picnic. If one of them badly hurts or kills the other, there's almost undoubtedly gonna be a really big legal problem. You can decrease your odds of causing a fatal outcome by getting training in how to "properly" apply chokeholds, but you cannot reduce your odds to zero. How much did you reduce them? You won't know, you can't know, until you find out the hard way.

By • Olalekan Fagbade I served as assembly member, Commissioner, Minister Without NYSC certificate - Buhari Cabinet member Former Minister of Communication and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Adebayo Shittu, has said that he served as a state Assembly member, commissioner and minister without NYSC certificate. The former Minister made this known in a recent interview with Trust TV. He said: "Currently, I am not engaged in any income yielding engagement, so as somebody who has spent so much time in politics, I remain a politician and I have no regret about it. "But I see the continuous provision of subsidy over the years as merely postponing the evil day because how many of us, or which person among us will be producing a product at N100 and be selling it at N40? It simply didn’t make sense. "The only regret I have is that our government, that is the Buhari government, in 2015 when we were taking over, promised to revive the refineries and we said we’re going to do that in four years. Unfortunately, in eight years we couldn’t do that and that is one regret I have." Speaking on the recent appointments made by President Bola Tinubu, Shittu said: "This brings me to the issue of the ministers he has appointed, over 40, the highest number since 1999. Did you expect him to have this large cabinet or you have some reservations? "A lot of people will see it as large but you see, when you know the quantum of work available to be done, you don’t behave in a manner of penny wise, pound foolish. "For instance, he has brought in a number of innovations to governance. In the past, we never had anything like ministry of marine and blue economy. That is certainly an opportunity for Nigeria to rake in billions of dollars by ensuring that rather than lumping all aspects of transportation together in the minister of transportation where the minister hardly knows what is going in the marine sector, now there will be a minister who would need to concentrate and think outside the box to ensure that Nigeria is able to maximize all the potentials in the marine environment. "But we had the ministry of mines and steels right from Shehu Shagari days and nothing tangible came from there Mines and steels are about exploring mineral resources, which is different from marine. "During Shagari’s administration, we were told that the ministry of mines and steel will revitalize Nigeria’s industrial sector because every state had one mineral or the other, but there is nothing on ground yet. Now, we have two ministries there. "The whole thing was done together then, but President Tinubu has taught it wise to now separate mines and steel because each is very huge and requires a lot of expertise and innovativeness. When asked about his NYSC credentials, the minister said: "The 1999 Constitution did not make it mandatory that for anybody to hold public office, he/she must have NYSC discharge certificate. "I don’t understand. We called the NYSC here in Daily Trust before we reported her case; and they said she breached their Act. "Was she the one who appointed herself? The president appointed her and the president has not broken any law because the constitution and several court judgments have said that to become a politician or a public office holder, having NYSC discharge certificate is not a requirement. "In 1979, I contested election into the Oyo State House of Assembly; I was coming directly from law school when I contested," he explained.

Challenges I faced
As mentioned earlier on in the portfolio, my biggest challenge at the start of the internship was adjusting to the writing style in the first handful of articles I produced. I was constantly being reassured of my good work which gave me the confidence to keep going but I admittedly took the changes to heart when I first noticed them.
When writing articles going forward, it was always in the back of my mind that some of my work would be changed and I had to find a way to reduce the number of changes needed in the final product. It was not something I could whip-up overnight, but I eventually used a side-by-side analysis of the changes in previous articles and other articles written online by other staff members to find my own strengths and weaknesses within my writing. I noticed I needed to add a bit more color, as my original content was starting to feel dry due to the amount of concentration given on getting the facts right first. Another point I starting working on was the structure of my articles as well as the confidence within my writing, for example, making it seem like I know exactly what I am talking about and not had just heard of the guy in the article an hour beforehand.
My second challenge came later on in the internship, being lucky enough to travel with the team to Adelaide for The Bend AutoFest I was presented with many challenges but the interviewing aspect seemed to strike me the most.
I was always happy to do interviews and was never going to say no, but I was struggling to find the confidence within my questions during the buildup to the interviews themself. On the opening day of track action, I did not expect to be doing any until later on in the day, so in my mind I had plenty of time to pick the brain of the media team and gain some confidence in the questions I was asking. At the time, I was anxious when I found out the interviews had been pushed forward and we were doing it ‘right now’ instead. I had to make up questions on the spot but I managed to handle the first couple of them okay.
As the day and the event went on, using a team member I was assigned to work with throughout the weekend I was able to ask multiple questions and use him as reassurance for what I might have been about to ask. He gave me positive and negative feedback throughout and did not mind if I restarted or took a second to prepare myself for the take.
“Being thrown in at the deep end is a test of communication skills” (Harris, 2015).
I ended up doing these interviews multiple times across the weekend, but the new found confidence also followed me back to the office where I would start interviewing people over the phone for article quotes, something I was also anxious about at the start but was able to get over the hump by being thrown in the deep end.

i saw you did an nsfw alphabet for wannabe challenge so i was wondering if you could do one for tears of themis? i'd love to see one for artem
Hell yeah, alphabets are the only nsfw stuff I'm good at writing
AO3
Artem NSFW Alphabet
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
-Stills inside/beside you for a moment while you both catch your breath, then he’s combing through your hair, peppering your body with loving kisses.
-Has wet wipes/tissues to help clean you up at arm's length, so if let’s be honest, when you whine about not wanting to leave his side just yet, he can help you clean up.
-If you’re still clingy after a while, this man will carry you to the bathroom to get the rest of the way cleaned up.
-If you find yourself in a more dominant role in the bedroom sub Artem? It’s more likely than you think be prepared to pepper that man with so much love and care.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
-His favorite body part of himself is his eyes. They’re a nice color, but I don’t think he thinks about his appearance too much.
-As for you, would it be cliche to say your brain?
-While your beauty was what attracted him first, your mind is what really sealed the deal.
-Your mouth is a close second, because it helps you voice your thoughts in that beautiful voice of yours and, I mean, if you wanted to give him a blow job too he wouldn’t be complaining…
-Is an ass man.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
-Is hesitant on deciding where to cum.
-He thinks cumming anywhere in/on you would not be a very pleasant experience for you.
-But in the heat of the moment, he’ll probably end up cumming inside you if he’s wearing protection, or on your thighs/ass if he’s not.
-When he cums, whether it be in you or on you, he’s grabbing you a tissue when he comes down from his high to clean you up.
-If you swallow his cum he’ll be a little disgusted, but a lot turned on.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
-Has masturbated in his office after you’ve left on multiple occasions.
-Sometimes the perfume you were wearing was extra enticing, sometimes what you were wearing made you look extra hot, and sometimes your presence alone is enough to get him hot and excited.
-Is mostly ashamed about the times he did it before you two were dating because it felt like an intrusion of your privacy.
-Once Celestine came to his office right after he finished and he was so mortified that she’d somehow be able to tell that he did something. She knew something was up because of how much he was blushing, but she didn’t know what exactly
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
-Big old virgin
-I’m not even saying that to be mean plus being a virgin isn’t bad it’s just true.
-Sure, his lack of experience may be a bit of a hindrance at first, but he’s a clean slate.
-He’s not gonna be doing some weird thing with your clit because a girl he was with before liked that.
-Train him to perfectly pleasure you, and, trust me, he’s a fast learner.
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
-Your first few times together he only did missionary, because, while he knew there were other options, he didn’t know how to initiate them.
-As he got more experience, however, he grew to absolutely love doggy style.
-Loves your ass, so it’s an obvious choice. Plus, if he’s extra flustered, he can easily hide it.
-Grips your ass extra hard while kissing your neck and back. If he’s feeling extra brave, expect a few whispers about how good you feel.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
-He has his goofy moments, but most of the time he’s 100% serious.
-Whether it be because he’s concentrating on learning how to pleasure you correctly, or, when he’s gained a bit of experience, just concentrating on both of your pleasure.
-I feel like as you guys get closer, however, an awkward moment may turn into a brief bout of giggles shared between the two of you before continuing.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
-Shaved himself completely when you two started dating.
-Was convinced you’d be disgusted by any hair down there. My poor insecure baby
-When he gets more comfortable around you, he’ll let it grow out, but he still trims it to keep it neat.
-Carpets match the drapes.
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
-Is a whore for a sexy, romantic atmosphere.
-I’m talking rose petals, candles, and a couple of glasses of non-alcoholic wine.
-Wanna have the most romantic love-making session imaginable? Set all of that up for him instead of the other way around.
-He’ll be so in love with you at that moment he’ll have no choice but to give you the best orgasms you’ve ever had.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
-Before meeting you, he jacked off maybe once or twice a week, and it was more of something he had to do than something he wanted to do.
-When he met you, he thought you were the most attractive person he’d ever seen, so his sex drive and, naturally, his masturbation sessions increased.
-Increased to every other day, maybe every day. He tried to not think of you during these times as he felt it was an invasion of privacy emphasis on tried.
-After finally getting together with you, his sessions have decreased back down to once or twice a week.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
-Likes having sex in his office, but that’s the most public space he’ll do it in.
-Also loves it when you’re slightly dominant on him.
-Doesn’t want to do any of the more kinky stuff, tying him or you, depending on his mood with a tie is about as far as he’ll go.
-But just take charge, he loves it.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
-Can’t go wrong with the good old fucking in bed. It’s easy, comfortable, and you guys can take as long as you want.
-Get him riled up at work by wearing something that beautifully shows of your ass, or make sure he knows you’re wearing that pair of panties you know he loves or, fuck it, no panties at all he’ll polietly ask you into his office so he can fuck your brains out.
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
-Loves when you assert yourself, especially at work.
-Get all confident during a trial because you know you’re going to win? That’s all the motivation he needs.
-Does not help his productivity at all, but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
-Expect to fuck after a trial, extra hard if you won.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
-No threesomes/group sex.
-It’s not even because he’ll get jealous okay maybe a bit of that but you were his first and only. Everything he’s learned about sex has been about specifically pleasuring you, he wouldn’t know where to begin when having sex with other people.
-He’s more than content with you being his one and only.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
-Not skilled at the beginning like all things sexual, but he’s a fast learner.
-Good communication is key here, as it is in all aspects of sex with Artem. Guide him to where you want to be pleasured, praise him when you really like what he’s doing, and give him some delicious moans and he’ll be a pro at fucking you with his tounge alone in no time.
-Is too shy to ask for you to go down on him, and will insist you don’t have to when you try to initiate it.
-Ignore him and do it, the noises you draw from him are absolutely worth it.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
-Starts off at a weird middle ground sort of pace, not fast and not slow.
-Is fond of slow and sensual when he grows more experienced, but will occasionally get rough with you.
-That usually happens when he gets a bit too jealous of a guy who got a bit too close to you for your liking.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
- doesn’t really have a choice in the matter at the beginning, mr. 30 seconds (sorry Artem)
-For real, he prefers longer love-making sessions, but if you’re teasing him in the office a quickie will ensue.
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
-Grows more confident the more the two of you have sex.
-He does like fucking in his office, so he likes a bit of risk, but there being too many people in the office, or the chance of Celestine walking in at anytime, Artem would much rather feign working on a case and take you home.
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
-At first, like most virgin boys, his stamina is basically nonexistent.
-Let him take his time, he’ll get to fucking you until the sun rises in no time at all.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
-Has never thought about getting one for himself when his hand does the job well enough.
-Is very open to using toys on you in the bedroom, especially when he’s feeling insecure about his ability to please you which happens often, scream his name and make him forget those insecurities.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
-Not a teaser in the slightest.
-You want something specific in the bedroom? He’s already doing it, you barely have to ask.
-On the flip side, sort of loves it when you’re unfair to him.
-Just barely touch him and stop at the brink of his orgasm, he gets a sick sort of pleasure from that.
-It also helps him gain more control over himself in the bedroom, so it’s a win-win.
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
-May try to stay quiet, after all, in all the porn he’s watched which isn’t a lot because I feel like watching it makes him feel uncomfortable the man is always basically silent.
-That does not work out for him, though. He gets so overwhelmed with pleasure that he can’t control what his vocal cords are doing.
-Gains a bit more control over it over time, but he realizes you like his moans, so he stops trying to keep them at bay.
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
-Is a total switch.
-Can be pretty dominant at some times see his atmospheric card
-But I can totally see him wanting you to dom him sometimes. Loves seeing you dominate the court, if you bring that energy to bed, oh boy is he like putty in your hands.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
-He’s of average girth and slightly above average length. Has a nice, thick vein that runs the length of his penis.
-Uncut.
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
-Has a very active imagination how else would he become such a great lawyer?
-And while that helps him out in his work, anything about you can really set him off.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
-Is out like a light
-Especially the first few times, his body doesn’t know what hit him.
-But even after a while, he works so hard that the moment he has the chance to fall asleep, his body is taking that chance.
-Make sures to stay up long enough to get cleaned off and help you clean yourself up.

Love Languages: Quality Dwellers Pt 2
Last part guys! If I missed anyone you would like me to add please feel free to send an ask! This was a fun series!
Bartolomeo
This guy loves doing everything with you! Just loves the idea that you accept him and want him around! He shows his love the best by just hanging around and wanting to experience and see everything you see!
Will be pretty stalkerish (think Juvia Lockser-) at first until you approach him and let him know he can be more open and follow you around without hiding about-
He will lose his mind when you go out of your way to spend time with him! And will go even more crazy if you plan a whole day together! Once you mention one word of being down or upset the man has like your whole schedule shut down and you two will do so many fun things together!
Marco
Due to his chill nature he enjoys the simple things in life and doesn’t really care much about materialistic behaviors or extreme shows of emotions. Just help him clean up the medical office on the ship or go shopping for supplies with him and the man will be drawn to you.
He likes to talk to you as you guys do things together and loves to learn new things about you and your opinions on philosophical aspects of life. Also loves to have fun debates with you and play some minor jokes!
I can also see him wanting to play games or group activities with you; he just likes the bonding experience and seeing your reactions to winning/losing!
Bartholomew Kuma
Such a good baby ugh-!
He’s a quiet guy who enjoys just being in your presence. He doesn’t like to use his words unless he must and he really doesn’t give me the action/doer role either; he just really likes being near you and seeing you, well being you!
He’s an observer so he loves to watch you do your own thing and see what you might create in your own little word. Whether it be painting, singing, writing or whatever hobbies you do he just finds it fascinating to watch your face concentrate and look determined.
Will suggest you guys go out for a walk into nature or spend time together when you are feeling down; if being with you helps lighten his day than maybe the same works for you too? If not, he will try to find other ways to let you know how much he cares for you!
Nico Robin
Our archeologist loves to relax together after a crazy day of being with the Strawhats! Whether you two are reading or just talking about your guy’s day she finds the downtime you two share the best moments of your relationship!
She wants to know more about you and uses this time to learn about the things you like and dislike. She knows that at times she is not the best girlfriend/s/o, but she tries and wants to use this time to show you just how much you matter to her!
It might seem like she is just harassing you for questions; but again she just wants to make sure she remembers every detail you mention so when the timing is right she can bring those details to life for you!
Vinsmoke Reiju
Another quiet babe who tries her best to be a good girlfriend! She didn’t have the best example of what a couple should be like growing up so she sometimes struggles with other forms of communicating her love; but she does know she likes to be with you; and maybe that alone can show you just how much you mean to her!
She finds it rather cute when you request her attention and she can’t deny she doesn’t want to give it to you; she should be the one requesting it!
Will do whatever you ask or want to do! She doesn’t care how silly or lame others might think it is, if you want to do it, she’s going to do it too!
Just loves seeing the smile on your face and seeing your eyes light up and wants to see every moment she can!
Koala
Due to her past as being a slave it takes a lot for Koala to trust her s/o and show her love for them as well. I can see her as both this and acts of service (on the giving end rather than receiving). Koala doesn’t do well with her words nor her actions when it comes to expressing her love, she also views gift giving to be superficial again due to her slave background.
Time is something that isn’t tangible as well as something that isn’t forced upon someone. It’s something Koala can be in control of and have that control to give or take. It’s reassuring for her that she can enter or leave the situation as she sees fit.
She does enjoy your time together however, but she can’t help but find herself using old coping skills in order to manage these strong emotions; she loves you, she just needs your help in order to show that love!
Viola
Believe it or not I see Viola as a quality time girl rather than a physical affection girl. My reasoning comes from her relationship with Dolfamingo. We know Oda said they were “very close” and he didn’t want to go into detail, but I feel this closeness was for survival rather than by choice if that makes sense-?
I think that her relationships now will be much different because the physical love that was forced on her in that relationship has led her to have some trauma towards physical affection. I just want to say to this is just my opinion and I have no idea what anyone’s love languages are I am just basing them on how I see them-
Anyway- she sees quality time as something more harmless? Similar to Koala it’s something that she can control; this gives her that comfort she needs that both parties are in a equal field of power, no one can overpower her. Another girl you are going to have to work for, as in to help her bring her guard down due to trauma!

DAY 4686
Jalsa, Mumbai Dec 28, 2020 Mon 10:04 PM
Birthday Ef - Pamela Arora, ABEF team .. Tuesday, December 29 .. wishes to you on your birthday and prayers for a speedy recovery .. love ❤️🙏
... work continues with some impunity .. stretching beyond the hours required for the needed rest and recovery .. but when it starts there is never a desire or the intent of a stoppage .. its perennial ..
.. many ask why do you work so much .. I say define ‘so much’ .. the others opinion or thought or question is the ‘others’ opinion , not mine .. what is not mine is the others .. why is there need to worry about the other questioning himself on myself .. simple ..
100 hours is the required deadline for the completion .. it has reached 78 .. and another 22 to go before the ‘21 comes into play .. 🤣🤣 ..
I thought that was extremely smart on the spot writing ..
.. it has been noticed that as I type or punch alphabets , the time taken for the word or expression to form is the time that the mind is thinking of what else must go in .. which is such a departure from the time when we wrote on paper and ink ..
.. paper and ink had the concentrated attention on the formation of the letter , its correct spell its in line rendition .. and so many other aspects ..
.. here we know the letter of the alphabet will form and the spell shall be right and the lines shall be maintained .. among many other application add ons that come along the communicative instrument , staring in the face now ..
.. corona isn’t the only one that has changed how we function from now on .. the communicator has taken over and is now the handiest in the present times to come ..
There is the on going debate on ‘clutter’ and ‘uncluttered’ conditioning .. the room the desk you work on the general surroundings where you live and operate and on ..
Many believe the clutter is a symbol of the cluttered mind .. non systematic , unable to clear thinking because there is so much indisciplined material surrounding and crowding the space that free and fair thinking, is denied an entry point .. access , if you may ..
The clutter on the other hand is the handy outreach of the hand to get to the subject of thought or write with some immediacy , because they are literally an inch away from your thought process ..
I am a cluttered desk ..
I just reached out to some ‘gems’ , to the ‘sauphf’ , the paper needing immediate attention in the office .. and the pictures or thoughts that I needed to refer to in the posting of the social media conglomerate ..
all within an inch of each other ..
NOw ..
.. the uncluttered ‘mahanubaav’ - the gentlemen of gentlemen of great wisdom, would argue that when needed just get up to the rack or drawer some distance from the desk and fetch the produce .. not realising of course that in the times of today a nano second distraction from the topic on hand and the communicative monoliths that abound take your mind away from the subject on source and begin to test your other capabilities .. like think about the news of the day or the game about to start .. or whatever ..
.. the cluttered just keeps straight on .. no diversions .. just the meat and its done ..
opinions will differ .. they should .. that is why they are there .. and good god .. I just finished another packet .. that is not good at all .. see what it means ..
hell .. never thought the topic on this subject would take up so much time and energy , in a post for the Blogmeister ..
Good night .. a game awaits me .. see ya .. and wish we win tonight .. I hope it is played and not postponed .. a Premier League game just got postponed because the Club was infested suddenly with the virus .. oh dear .. !!

Scarface: Where Tony Montana Went Wrong
https://ift.tt/3oFBFiL
“All I have in this world is my balls and my word, and I don’t break them for no one,” Tony Montana declares in the 1983 gangster classic, Scarface. Yet Al Pacino’s antihero breaks both in his quest for money, power, and women. And just as he is on the brink of winning the trifecta, he is blown away like so much dust up a nose.
Did he lose because the Cuban mobster didn’t heed the advice of his first crime boss? Or is it because he just couldn’t stand to see his sister and his best friend wearing his-and-her pajamas? In truth, Montana’s fall can probably be traced back to when he learned to speak English by “watching guys like Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney.”
Directed by Brian De Palma, and written by Oliver Stone, Scarface is a remake of Howard Hawks’ vastly influential 1932 mob movie, so Montana’s explosive descent was preordained. Tony Montana continued Pacino’s run of criminal icons, which included Sonny in Dog Day Afternoon and the ultimate crime family head, Michael Corleone in The Godfather films. The actor supplanted Paul Muni’s Tony Carmonte as the recognizably scarred face of the title role. Pacino would go on to play Carlito in Carlito’s Way and Lefty in Donnie Brasco, but while each hoodlum brings a new facet to his rogues gallery, none of his gangsters ever achieve their ultimate desires. They almost all reach dizzying heights, and everyone of them sees the dream slip through their fingers. Still, Montana experiences perhaps the greatest fall of all.
The original 1932 film took place during Prohibition when crime was a viable means of survival. De Palma’s adaptation happens in the Reagan era, a time when lucky opportunists could get their lips around the spigots of cash before it got a chance to trickle down. Tony’s economic theory is much more succinct: “You know what capitalism is? Getting fucked.”
Scarface is a rags-to-riches-to-self-destructive fireball story, and nothing succeeds like excess. Montana’s first crime boss in America, Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia), has weathered the climate change from President Carter to the Gipper, and warns Tony to never “underestimate the other guy’s greed.”
In the original Howard Hughes production, Tony was an immigrant from Italy. In the Cold War era film, Montana is a refugee from Cuba. Their shared first mistake is to believe in the American Dream.
The World Is Yours
These words are flashed in both films and hit each of the two criminal aspirants as hard as the “give me your tired, poor, and hungry” promises carved under the Statue of Liberty. Scarface opens shortly after the Mariel boatlift, the 1980 exodus which followed Cuba’s economic crash. Montana seeks asylum, telling immigration officers he is a political prisoner who doesn’t agree with his country’s politics and owns nothing under communism. He says even American prison is better than his life on the Caribbean island. The officers note his criminal past, the telltale tattoo on his arm, and the scar on his face, which despite their insults was obviously not caused by oral sex.
In exchange for a Green Card, Montana and his friend Manny Ribera (Steven Bauer) assassinate Gen. Emilio Rebenga, who tortured the brother of the crime boss Lopez. Tony settles in sunny Miami. And when he gets out of the kitchen and into the heat of crime, he hits the ground running. “The World Is Yours,” after all. All you have to do is take it, and Montana has both hands out.
Frank warns his protégé, “The guys who last in this business are the guys who fly straight – lowkey, quiet; and the guys who want it all – chicas, champagne, flash – they don’t last.” But Montana is a meteor, bound to burn up in the atmosphere. He gets caught on the orbit of Alejandro Sosa (Paul Shenar), agreeing to supply cocaine from Bolivia independent of the other drug lords. Within a few years, Montana is doing so well, the feds target him for tax evasion.
Tony’s Betrayal of Frank Lopez
Montana’s betrayal of Frank Lopez is crucial to his downfall. Frank is the father figure who initially took a chance on Tony. He let him rise through the ranks, even as he tried to bite off more than he could chew. Frank’s biggest mistake is not making sure his underlings follow his sage advice. He also ignores one of his own commandments. Lopez underestimates Montana’s greed. He trusts Tony to accompany his trusted second-gun Omar Suarez (F. Murray Abraham) to Bolivia to meet with Sosa, and continues to let Tony operate after the druglord hangs Suarez from a helicopter.
The deal Montana makes behind Frank’s back is a major step toward the fall. The vow Tony takes never to betray Sosa ultimately leads to the last splash. Montana breaks his word to both of these men, and they bust his balls as a result. When Tony returns to Miami, Frank is suspicious over Omar’s death and his returning soldier’s independence. As Montana begins to build his own cocaine empire, Frank orders a professional hit.
For gangsters, the only good cop is a bad cop, and it is advisable to grease the wheels which move crime. Mel Bernstein (Harris Yulin) demands his take early in the film at the Babylon Club, which has the perfect cocktail napkins for bribery notes. Bernstein was willing to overlook the murders of Rebenga, “Hector the Toad,” and “that bloodbath at the Sun Ray Hotel.” Tony should have taken him at his word when the cop said he could clean up Tony’s Lopez mess.
Before Tony eliminates Frank, he is hungry. The money and drugs are not a distraction. After he begins to accumulate power, he lets his public profile rise and indulges in conspicuous consumption. Montana keeps a chained-up tiger in front of his compound just to let everyone know how powerful he is. There are real life precedents for this. Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar imported hippos for his private zoo. Brooklyn mobster “Crazy” Joe Gallo kept a pet lion named Cleo in the basement of his headquarters. The scenario was also probably inspired by Miami’s most notorious drug lord, Mario Tabraue, whose predilection for wild cats was featured in the Netflix documentary Tiger King. But the most conspicuous acquisition Montana leveraged cut Frank the deepest.
It’s always a mistake to go after the boss’ girl. James Cagney’s Tommy Powers knew this in The Public Enemy (1931). James Woods’ Maximillian “Max” Bercovicz skirts this in Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America (1984). Montana sets out to steal Frank’s trophy wife, Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer), from the moment he lays eyes on her, though he waits for the height of his reign to claim her. He does it as much to emasculate his former boss as he does it out of desire. It’s a betrayal equal to having Manny whack Frank while he pleads for his life.
The new couple is married by 1983, but with a marriage always on the rock.
Don’t Get High on Your Own Supply
Montana’s downfall is aided, abetted, but most of all mirrored in his descent into addiction. He probably took his first sniff from Elvira’s stash, but even as Montana bemoans, “I got a junkie for a wife,” he doesn’t get wind of his own problem. “Another Quaalude, and she’ll be mine again,” he reasons as the trophy wife climbs off the pedestal and up on a shelf.
Montana is in deep drug denial when Elvira leaves him after he openly complains she can’t have children because she is polluted with the yaya he’s been peddling. He should at least entertain the notion when she openly wonders if he would even be alive to raise their child.
In American Gangster, Denzel Washington’s Frank Lucas knows enough not to dip his nose into the supply. And while Pacino’s slide into the junkie aspects of his character is physically more subtle than Ray Liotta’s bug-eyed Henry Hill in Goodfellas, the results are just as devastating. When Montana was crushing the competition and bagging the Sandman, he had discipline. His mind gets muddled as his drug use spirals out of control. He makes rash decisions, dips into schizoid delusions, and succumbs to white powder paranoia. He can’t see his way through the haze to find alternatives. He walks right into the undercover cop’s money laundering bust.
The drugs dull his instincts. If Tony wasn’t high at the security command center, he would have seen Sosa’s soldiers encroaching his compound over the cameras. He had 10 bodyguards on the property, he could have positioned them defensively. The only thing his ultimate hit man is hiding behind is a pair of killer shades. He never should have been able to sneak behind Montana’s back. Tony also wouldn’t have gotten rid of his most trusted weapon.
Over and Underestimating Little Friends
Tony Montana’s right-hand man would have been the best, first defense against the Sosa attack. What Tony does to Manny Ribera is his worst action. The two are virtually brothers. Their bond goes beyond being partners in crime, it tightened in the “Freedomtown” concentration camp, and solidified in the Miami chainsaw massacre. It is because Manny is Tony’s most trusted soldier that he will never be good enough for Tony’s sister Gina (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio). Tony’s saving grace is he believes he is doing all this to ensure a better life for his sister. Gina is supposed to represent the innocence he sacrificed, but she is also an unattainable sin.Tony’s mother doesn’t try to separate her children merely because her daughter might be swallowed in the criminal life; she is curbing what she sees as Tony’s unnatural urges.

Even if Tony doesn’t see Manny as a rival for his sister’s affections, he still sees him through the eyes of a fellow criminal, and a womanizing one at that. Tony is just like his mother, who rejects him. Tony brands his friend, and ultimately seals his fate with it.
The problem is Ribera wasn’t made to be a gangster. He is a loyal and efficient consigliere and soldier for Tony’s crew, but he would have been happier slapping his name on knockoff designer jeans. Besides the bubbling incestuous tension exacerbated by the coke haze, Tony doesn’t want to see his best friend happier than him, and denies Gina a real chance at the happiness he wants for her.
It’s the one thing Tony can’t buy for her. Gina and Manny fully expect Tony to be thrilled by their marriage. They were going to surprise him with the news. Tony’s incestuous protectiveness speeds his downfall. He murders Manny as a punishment. Gina is shot by Sosa’s men. Montana loses the two most important people in his life, and his inability to control his lusts destroy them all.
“Say Goodnight to the Bad Guy”
The biggest contributory factor in Tony’s downfall is his humanity. In The Godfather, Sonny Corleone advises his brother Michael not to take things too personally in business. When Lopez gives Montana the mission of delivering a bundle of cocaine to Columbian dealers, the rising mobster takes things very personally. The deal goes bad when Montana’s friend Angel Fernandez is murdered with a chainsaw in a scene so aurally graphic (watch it again, there’s no violence shown, only heard), it almost got the film an X rating.
It was allowed in the film in the name of education, Stone pointed to a DEA report which detailed the exact scenario. Tony teaches the Colombians a lesson in humanity. Not content with leaving with the cash and the coke, he kills every single gang member who had anything to do with Angel’s death.
Tony also lets his conscience be his guide when he’s working the GPI on a hit. Faced with serious jail time for his tax evasion arrest, he makes a deal with Sosa, who is also under fire. Montana agrees to fly to New York and assassinate a journalist before he can give a speech on Sosa’s organization. A bomb has been planted in the journalist’s car, and Tony is in charge of tailing until the perfect detonation point. But when Tony arrives on the scene to assassinate the journalist, he notices the man’s wife and children are with him. Montana not only breaks his word, the promise to protect his powerful partner, but he murders Sosa’s right hand man, Alberto, rather than kill the children playing in the back seat.
“I Always Tell The Truth. Even When I Lie.”
Tony Montana may have been the ballsiest and most charismatic of his machismo mob, but he wasn’t the brightest. He acknowledges his intellectual shortcomings, “I come from the gutter,” he admits. “I know that. I got no education, but that’s okay. I know the street.” But he doesn’t read signs. He can’t tell a freeway from a dead end. Frank Lopez may be a blowhard, but his words of wisdom could have been carved in the cement.
All the concrete Tony brags about has gone to his head, making his skull thicker than Pacino’s accent. Montana is brash and unbending, narcissistically adherent to only his own advice, and his own worst counsel. His anger blinds him, the battery is running low on his foresight, and he’s so flashy his enemies can see him coming from miles away. And he can’t see them when they’re standing close enough to breathe on the back of his neck.
Final Massacre
Of course the most obvious reason Tony ends up the way does is because he fights off an army by himself. He’s got quite an arsenal, and the coke probably makes it seem like a good idea at the time, but the decision to stay and fight is vastly miscalculated. Even if Tony had survived the last assassination attempt, Sosa’s men would always be hunting for him. It would have been a short hunt. Tony Montana would have died of a heart attack from all that coke he snorted.

A fresh Start 2
This was prompted by an amazing anon! I hope you enjoy!
Fandom: Detroit become human | Ship: Reed900
It had become quite late as they had finished talking and Gavin had offered Nines to stay the night. Not that the android really needed to sleep, but he appreciated the gesture. He was given a pillow and blanket – useless if he could just enter stasis standing somewhere in the corner – and was shown the sofa. Nines sighed as he sat down and angled the pillow against the armrest. It was… nice after all. And certainly the better option knowing Connor and Hank would bombard him with questions once he came home. Like this he at least had the night to think about the right words to explain what happened and at the same time not betray the newfound trust the Detective had put in him.
By the time Gavin awakened, he still hadn’t found them. They shared little words while the human got ready for work and offered to drive them both as he would be driving anyways. When they entered the precinct, all attention shifted towards them. Gavin ignored all the looks thrown his way although Nines could clearly see his shoulders tense and his head duck a bit. He himself tried to follow his partner’s lead to get to their desks and may have kept his posture a bit straighter than it normally was. He guessed after yesterday it was normal for them to be curious. It likely would take a few days until they had forgotten about-
‘Nines!’ The android looked up and saw Fowler standing at the door of his glass cube. ‘To my office!’ Nines shared a look with Gavin before making his way over there. ‘Captain Fowler’, he greeted the man and immediately the glass frosted over for more privacy. ‘Nines’, the Captain nodded back. ‘Care to explain what happened yesterday?’ ‘Gavin had… a lot of feelings, none of them good. I believe they overwhelmed him after you ordered a suspension, Sir. It was just another example of him lashing out.’ The man fixed him with his eyes and pursed his lips. ‘I don’t think so, RK. I’ve known the boy for a while know. In many aspects he is like a son to me. That yesterday looked far too serious for just one of his… tantrums.’ ‘It… was’, was everything Nines dared to say to that. He promised to keep Gavin’s secret and he wouldn’t break it, not even to Fowler.
‘He didn’t hurt you, did he?’, Fowler asked, standing up now. ‘You have to tell me or HR if he did. I am willing to turn a blind eye to most of his shit, but I won’t stand for that.’ ‘No’, Nines spoke up clearly. ‘No, he didn’t hurt me in any way, though I believe I hurt him.’ Fowler lifted a brow. ‘Not physically’, Nines explained. ‘But I think I failed to see all the consequences of my actions towards him.’ The Captain sat down on the edge of his table now, his body language telling Nines this wasn’t at all a formal meeting as Detective and Captain of the 5th precinct. This was… personal. ‘He didn’t look hurt to me when you two came in just now. And you came at exactly the same time when Connor and Hank arrived a lot earlier. Don’t you all live together?’ Nines didn’t know what to say to that and Fowler misunderstood: ‘I don’t need to know what you people do in your free time as long as it doesn’t concern work. But if it endangers the integrity of my officers, I need to know. In which way did you think you hurt Detective Reed?’
Nines looked him in the eye, thinking hard about how much he could tell. He remembered what Gavin had unveiled to him yesterday. ‘You do know Gavin has mental illnesses recognised in his patient’s file, don’t you?’ As his employer, Fowler should know that at least, so he didn’t have to straight up lie to his superior. ‘Yes, I know’, the man sighed. ‘He has problems arising from his upbringing. He… he never told me what happened exactly, but his father is a real asshole.’ ‘You met him?’, Nines asked in surprise. ‘Yeah, when Gavin was promoted to Detective Tina decided to celebrate. I was invited, too, as well as Gavin’s family. They… Well, let’s say they were the first ones to leave again.’ Nines nodded. ‘Well, let’s say I triggered some of these issues with my behaviour. But after my shift ended I visited him to apologise and we… we talked about it. I think now that I know what to look out for, something like yesterday won’t happen again.’
‘I appreciate your effort, Nines’, Fowler said. ‘Just… You do know you don’t have to? If you don’t feel comfortable with this, I can assign different partners to you two. Or even offer a transfer.’ ‘I know’, Nines dismissed the thought. ‘But I don’t want to. I think it would do Gavin good to have a partner for longer than a few months – someone he can confide in. I like working with the Detective and if anything our talk reassured me I want to continue working beside him.’ Nines had expected many things at that, but not a warm smile from the Captain and a strong hand on his shoulder. ‘This is really good to hear’, Fowler sighed. ‘I knew it was a good decision to partner you up. I hoped you were stubborn enough to put up with the challenge. He really needs a partner. He really needs a friend. He is a good man, always was. He just needs someone to see his qualities.’ Nines nodded and thought about what Gavin had told him the day before. Maybe he couldn’t fix the man. But maybe he didn’t have to when all he needed was someone to listen. ‘I hope I can be that friend’, he simply said and looked up as Fowler stood to walk back around his chair. ‘Then I wish you luck and endurance’, The Captain sighed again, clearing the glass. ‘That would be all.’
-
Gavin hadn’t asked what the meeting was about. Maybe he wasn’t interested. Maybe he already guessed it. They worked together on their cases, Gavin signing everything off to him so that he had access to what he needed during his suspension from the job next week. Everything went smoothly and something akin to a normal working atmosphere had settled in quickly enough to brush over what happened yesterday. When Gavin left work early, Nines wished him a nice weekend and was already back to work as Connor strolled over. ‘You alright, Nines?’, he asked. ‘Yes, I am, why do you ask?’ ‘Well, after what happened yesterday and… you didn’t come home. I thought maybe you could need someone to speak with?’ ‘I’m fine, Connor. I just misjudged Gavin, that is all.’ Connor wordlessly held out his hand to interface and Nines looked at it for a few seconds. Then he looked over to Hank. The man had been depressed for several years and only just now showed signs of becoming better. Maybe Connor’s insight on the matter would help. ‘Connor, I trust you not to tell anyone about this, alright? I need you to keep quiet. Can you do that for me?’ The RK800 nodded and Nines took his hand. Interfacing was likely the fastest way of communicating. It could send emotions, memories and thoughts to another person in the blink of an eye. And still it needed a few moments for Nines to convey to Connor everything that plagued him at the moment.
When they disconnected, Connor blinked a few times, aimlessly staring at Gavin’s desk. ‘He never appeared to me as a person of such depth.’ ‘Really?’, Nines asked. ‘What did you think he was?’ ‘Just the regular asshole?’, Connor shrugged, realising only then how bad that sounded. ‘I never had much to do with him. We only ever met if he stood in my way.’ Nines grimaced. ‘Do the others think like this too?’ ‘I guess so. And after what you showed me I realise we might be part of the problem.’
‘Well, I don’t blame you’, Nines tried to comfort the gradually more and more distressed android. ‘You couldn’t have known he wasn’t just the regular asshole.’ ‘But I do blame myself, Nines!’, Connor commented, leaning against his desk. ‘I’m supposed to pick up such things. I’m part negotiator unit.’ ‘It wasn’t your mission.’ ‘But what about now? Since I’m deviant missions doesn’t matter anymore.’ ‘He hid it well.’ ‘Could you please stop trying to find excuses for me?!’, Connor exploded, quickly gathering his bearings afterwards. ‘Sorry.’ ‘I will stop if you stop finding reasons why it would be your fault.’ Nines sighed. ‘I guess his family is at fault. But… Damn, I don’t know anymore. I want to concentrate on making it better, not find the person who is to blame and hand them over to the Detective. I truly doubt that will help.’
‘Yes, yes you’re right…’ Connor scratched his forehead and took out his coin to let it slide over his knuckles a few times. ‘Nines, I promise to try and help you. Maybe I can try set an example for the others? If someone starts being friendly maybe the rest will follow?’ ‘That’s the strategy I went with’, Nines smirked. ‘And I see it’s working, so go for it.’ Connor chuckled. ‘I will. Err… and Nines?’ ‘Yes?’ ‘Could you tell him I’m sorry?’ ‘For what?’ ‘He’ll know for what, Nines. Just… I can’t do it face to face yet. We don’t exactly trust each other.’ ‘Alright, I will.’ Connor smiled, before heading over to his own desk where Hank was standing up. ‘Thank you, Nines! And good luck!’
Nines shook his head and shut down his workstation. Why did everyone wish him good luck lately? Gavin wasn’t a dangerous animal or some inscrutable person. He obviously simply needed someone to trust and confide in. And Nines would try his best to be exactly that.

How I take an idea and turn it right into a product
A startup product supervisor's function is to create product strategy, study and specify items, and coordinate the tactical execution of products from inception to go-to-market. Below's the process I experience to take an idea to market.
There's a lot of variation within each step. I'm not going to get into that, instead, I'm going to offer you a review of my procedure to help those with less experience much better understand the day-to-day things.
Just how I deal with it
Craft items to make working in a workplace easier for workers. In the instance below when I state "area" I'm speaking about spaces within an office-- like a conference room.
Understand and also break down the idea:
Finding as well as making use of the right space should be frictionless.
his suggestion originated from Zach Holmquist in among our early item meetings. This suggestion specifies to our domain of office tools for staff members. You'll have completely various suggestions however can damage them down in a comparable means to recognize what to ship. Let's break this assumed down into something certain. see also best invention help companies
Apply this workflow to a nearby concept. Just how is locating a conference room similar to discovering your entrance at an airport terminal or the bar you're meeting buddies at?
Using: The user has a distinct purpose for locating the area. Individuals make use of space differently, and different spaces are constructed for varying use. What patterns are there? Can we group these patterns into underlying structures or psychological models to recognize just how our users assume?
The right area: This is similar to the one above it (using). Nonetheless, it communicates that a minimum of in some circumstances, there can be "wrong" rooms.
Must: Should!= Must. It should imply some level of the appropriate blemish in the process/experience.
Frictionless: What is the experience today? What causes friction? What friction can be gotten rid of?
Review the user's present experience from a high degree.
Today most workers discover a conference room in 3 means. First, they check out from their chair to see which spaces are open. Second, they contrast space schedules in Outlook to see what's not arranged. Trouble is-- calendars have to do with 65% accuracy. They walk around the office until they locate an open space, usually peeping into spaces to see if they're open.
Mash the current individual experience with the suggestion.
What friction can be eliminated from that experience? Let's concentrate on the customer on the move, who walks around the office to find an area. To remove the aimless search, the customer requires to know of an offered room that fits their requirements. After that, they might walk straight to the best room and utilize it without the friction of inspecting various other spaces.
Ideate and team up
Ideation is enjoyable because you obtain to come up with all kinds of ideas as well as repeat them via them. I recommend looking to adjacent industries to locate patterns and also parallels that you can apply to your microcosm.
Specify the item and also rally the troops
From here on is the brass adds-- the nitty-gritty-- the weeds; and it's where numerous pm's get overwhelmed and distracted if they're not mindful.
Start with product requirements and layouts. Product needs describe the troubles and also customer stories you'll be addressing. It ought to include useful actions, explanations for side cases, as well as any other demands your engineering team requirements. Your level of the information below depends upon your design group-- do what they need to be successful.
Then promote engineering conversations and get them thrilled about the effect of the product. You'll have to understand exactly how the engineering team is thinking of fixing the issue. Design's imagination will influence your item as well as style decisions.
On rallying the troops: whether they want something for a resume, or to feel gratified that they have done something beneficial-- individuals intend to work on purposeful products. Rally them around the effect they can make. also find out InventHelp inventions
Test and also sell
Next off, prototype, test, as well as repeat until you have something that individuals locate user-friendly as well as valuable. Checking and also repeating not only improves your item, yet it additionally develops credibility across your groups. Morgan Williams is my UX companion, and also he's incredibly skilled at this, which assists me a great deal.
In parallel with screening, you need to sell the idea, the strategy, and also the impact this item is going to have. Figure out what your firm needs and also deliver that.
Break down the work
Take a seat with design and also range out the private task milestones. Turning points break down right into individual tickets/stories that a developer will certainly build. In a start-up, you likely have to do this in partnership with a design lead as you won't have a job supervisor.
Coordinate cross-team execution
There's a whole lot that goes into coordinating cross-team implementation-- but the greatest aspect is your capability to interact plainly and also effectively. Efficiently, indicating other people understand you. If they do not-- it's your fault as the product supervisor, not their own. You have this item, the communication, as well as the timelines.
Beta
When you have a functioning item you will often require to beta test it. I'm still learning how to run effectively as well as reliable beta programs. The best beta programs I have run thus far have constant and also regular interaction with the testers, good information to see what's going on with usage, as well as plainly defined understandings we can relate to the product.
organize and also perform on the Go-To-Market plan
Most likely to the marketplace is awesome. I have had the opportunity to do it several times now and each time I do it slightly various based upon what I have discovered along the road. The secret is interaction and knowing what reverberates with your market. Hopefully, you have advertising and marketing and sales resources to aid you with this. These discussions need to begin in step 5.
Lastly-- track and also hold on your own liable
Be truthful, and preferably-- make use of information to show an unbiased record on your item's performance. Lots of start-ups don't have reliable usage data. Discover out who's utilizing it, as well as what their experience is. Follow inventhelp for more advice https://www.instagram.com/inventhelp/?hl=en

Transitions
As much as I had looked forward to the relaxing of pandemic restrictions as vaccination coverage increases (it is pretty high in my county, with over 70% of the population aged 12+ fully vaccinated, and an additional 12% who’ve had only one dose of a 2-dose vaccine), it’s a bumpy road, and of course now with the variants and the number of cases increasing, there’s additional anxiety.
We are back to dancing in the studio (albeit with masks, open windows, and slightly limited capacity), which has been great. It feels like a real return to normalcy and a reunion, with joyful hugs and getting to dance together and be in the same space. I am getting to see people I didn’t see during the pandemic, and reconnecting with some loose ties I had missed. It is absolutely feeding my soul.
However, the return to the office is a different story. From March 2020 until a couple of months ago, I was very eager to return to the office as soon as it was safe to do so. I have adjusted to working from home, and can acknowledge that there are some advantages, but I prefer having a better boundary between work and the rest of my life. Most importantly, though, the social aspect of working in the office is something I miss very badly. I feel isolated at home. My life has shrunk more than I want it to. As a shy extrovert, I need more social interaction than I have been getting, but I am not very good at actively seeking it out/making it happen; having friends I saw at work every day used to be an important part of my social life. Furthermore, working on campus gave me a sense of being part of a larger community, a sense that is hard to maintain when working in my own living room.
However, when the dates for returning to the office were finally announced, I was blindsided by learning that my work friends were not in a hurry to return to the office--even the one whose kids (who are old enough to know better) didn’t hesitate to interrupt her while she was giving a virtual seminar lecture. In fact, my work best friend said she wasn’t sure she would be coming back to work on campus at all. She pointed out all the advantages for her of working from home. She is an outgoing introvert, so she used to socialise a lot at work, but apparently it felt like a burden. She concentrates better at home and likes that she doesn’t have to waste any time getting to and from the office (though her commute was only about 10 minutes by bike).
I suddenly realised that returning to the office will not be what I had assumed it would be and had looked forward to. There were repeated conversations about it over our group text, most of which consisted of me pointing out the advantages of working in the office and Work Best Friend pointing out the disadvantages. I thought I communicated pretty clearly that seeing these friends was one of the main reasons I had been looking forward to going back to the office, and that I would really miss them.
It’s already a month since I had the option to return to the office, and I still hadn’t done it because there didn’t seem to be much point in going back if I was the only one. I’m not good at transitions, and the uncertainty and anxiety was starting to get to me; so I figured I should just do it and at least get rid of the uncertainty, which would presumably reduce my anxiety.
So I brought my desktop computer (with 2 monitors, mouse, keyboard, and all the cables) back into the office on Monday. But... it was really depressing. The building was a ghost town. I could practically see the tumbleweeds rolling past. It was exactly what I had feared. I saw only 3 people, one of whom has the desk next to mine--I was glad to see her, but she told me she will be working remotely a lot of the time (and she works much earlier hours than I do so there isn’t much overlap in our day). Work Best Friend kept sending texts about the possibly inadequate covid-safety protocols and policies, which increased my anxiety about a transition I was already struggling with, and I ended up crying while doing my grocery shopping on the way home. Bizarrely, she then texted a little while later saying something like “Are you excited to be back in the office? (I can be happy for you even if it isn’t what I want for myself!)” So... apparently I had not really communicated to her how devastated I’d been by her resistance to returning to the office, and by the emptiness of the office that day. We cleared it up that evening, but... I was still really down.
Tuesday I didn’t even go back in--I had an appointment and a meeting (and I needed to be home for the virtual meeting), and then spent the rest of the afternoon getting through some emails and reading, so I didn’t need my work computer.
Wednesday, I brought my office chair back in, and luckily, the office wasn’t so deserted. There were several more people in, including one of our new faculty hires, and I got some social interaction in the office. Thursday, I had lunch with the two aforementioned coworkers (Work Best Friend and the one whose kids interrupt her at home all the time), and the latter came into the office to transfer her things from her desk (which was opposite mine) to her new office down the hall. [She’s been promoted to a faculty job title that entitles her to an office with a door that closes, as opposed to the open floor plan workspaces the non-faculty academic employees like me get. I’m happy for her, though of course a bit sad that she’ll be further away from me.] Again, there were more people working on site.
Friday, there were only a few of us--I think a lot of people will work from home on Mondays and Fridays maybe--but I still feel reassured by how the office felt on Wednesday and Thursday. Several people who were there commented on being glad to be back, and also, more people will definitely be around once the semester starts.
On the other hand, one floor of the next building over is currently having a covid-19 outbreak (8 cases reported in just 3 days), so I am a little anxious that we shouldn’t be back yet. Campus is implementing a vaccine mandate (people can apply for medical or religious exemptions, but then they will have to be tested every week), but not until the 4th of August. I think over 70% of employees have provided proof of vaccination, and it’s possible that some of the others are actually vaccinated but haven’t documented it yet, or that most of the unvaccinated people are working remotely, but... it’s still a little scary.
tl;dr: Transitions are hard, even when you want the change.

Worldbuilding: Countries and Governments
A fantasy world needs countries and governments. To create governments, some research must be done. The best way to create believable governments is to mimic world governments. This can be done by either choosing a government as a model or creating a new one from scratch.
To make a new government, it is important to know some basic information. Historically, there have been many forms of government like monarchy, aristocracy, timocracy, oligarchy, democracy, theocracy, and tyranny. There are two main ways power is passed down. Either the ruler(s) are elected or they inherit power. More recently, the different types of governments that we see are direct democracy, representative democracy, socialism, communism, monarchy, oligarchy, and autocracy.
Types of Governments alphabetically:
Anarchy: this is when a state, society, or country is without government or law. This is often seen as a negative, but in your fantasy world this can be a positive thing. Research anarchist philosophies. (Not on your work computer!)
Aristocracy: This is a government ruled by the elite, privileged upper class, nobility, or a “superior” group. This can be because of education, magical or physical ability, or wealth. Or a combination of these things. Have fun with it.
Authoritarian: This is a government where individual freedom is restricted by the power of the government. That government is not accountable to its people. I see this used a lot for dystopian governments where the government forbids all forms of expression and individual freedoms.
Autocracy: This is a government where one person is the unlimited authority, power, or influence. To create an autocracy, research despotic governments.
Capitalism: This is actually an economic system, so you will still need a type of government. It is an economic system where people invest in and own their own businesses and property. Wealth is made by private individuals and corporations.
Communism: This is a classless society where private ownership is abolished and the means of production and provisions for survival belong to the community.
Confederation: This is an economic or political union of sovereign states in which membership of each state is voluntary. A modern example of this is the European Union. A historical example of this is the Confederacy during the United States Civil War.
Democracy: This is a form of government where the supreme power is in the hands of the people or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.
Empire: this is a group of peoples ruled over by an emperor, empress, or other sovereign, established usually through coercion.
Federation: This is a union of partially self-governing states or regions united by a federal government.
Feudalism: This is where the land in a kingdom belonged to the king, who gave some land to lords or nobles that served him. The lord or nobles gave some of their land to vassals, who served the lords. This is the political, military, and social system in the Middle Ages.
Libertarian: This is a government that advocates the freedom of thought, expression, and free will and protects it people from coercion and violence.
Monarchy: This is a form of government where the supreme authority is vested in a single (usually a hereditary figure) ruler like a king. There are different types of monarchies like: absolute monarchy, constitutional monarchy, diarchy, elective monarchy, emirate, and federal monarchy.
Oligarchy: This is a form of government where power is divided among a few persons. These people are usually wealthy, powerful, or influential. Some types of oligarchic governments are: ergatocracy, kritarchy, plutocracy, stratocracy, and theocracy.
Polyarchy: This is a form of government where power is divided between three or more persons. This could be a triarchy, tetrarchy, or more.
Republic: This is a form of government where power rests in the body of citizens who are entitled to vote for representatives to exercise the will of the people. Some types of republics are: constitutional republic, democratic republic, parliamentary republic, federal republic, and a socialist republic.
Socialism: This is an economic system where the production and distribution of goods are controlled by the government rather than by private enterprise. There are many kinds of socialism, and some even tolerate capitalism. This is different from communism in that all communists are socialist, but not all socialists are communist.
Timocracy: This is a government where possession of property is required to hold office.
Totalitarian: This is a government that does not tolerate differing opinion and that regulates nearly every aspect of public and private life.
The key to deciding this is who is in power, how they got there, and what powers do they have. There are other unofficial types of governments like if a mob or terrorist group controlled a country.
Alternately, a strategy for creating fictional governments, is choosing an actual country and period. For example, France in revolutionary periods vs Nazi occupation. For actual information on the government during French Revolution, check out https://www.history.com/topics/france/french-revolution. It’s really fascinating.
I chose many governments during times of revolution in countries like France, The U.S., Sudan, and Egypt as inspiration for the type of government conditions I want in my story for several main countries. I used other governments, and I created my own for the other countries. Many of my countries are
I liked the idea of having a ruling Council of Elders, with a judge-type ruler for my MC’s home. These people are moving away from socialism and into a capitalistic society. They are mostly democratically ruled, but a judge acts as a deciding factor.
This is going to vary greatly, depending upon the story you are writing. But a well-defined world should have a decent mixture of government systems. A lot of time in traditional fantasy, I see monarchies and autocracies. While I think they have their place in a fantasy world, I think simply relying on them as the only represented government lacks creativity. One trend I’ve noticed is the use of representative democracies in fantasy. I love this trend.
When I went about creating countries for my fictional world (which I literally call World), I first listed my races. (See my post on creating fantasy races for information about the races I will list.) Each race will be sporadically spread through World.
I knew I wanted my main group of Lowasii to live on the northern island. That is where they will originate before branching out into the world. I created four countries for Lowasii. They did not assimilate into other cultures. I placed countries on the northern island, the desert on the main continent, and the northern mountains on the main continent, and a southern island.
For Trolls, Goblins, Riverfolk, and Boulders, I mapped out territories. I wanted most of them to be nomadic that follow migratory patterns of various prey. I gave them a capitol for each race, but mostly they control one large region each.
Humans spread out over the whole continent of World. They each have their own name for the planet, just like earthlings do. I wanted humans to live in every terrain and region. Their cities tend to clump together sometimes, and some are less concentrated. I also needed my countries to vary in size from one another. In the U.S. and other places, smaller cities tend to cluster around larger ones- so that’s what I did.
Lastly, I created the Underground, where the Underlings live. I wanted their ruler to have conquest on their mind. Because of this, there is only one underground country. That country has begun conquering surface-world cities one by one. These surface cities must become “night cities” to allow the Underlings to avoid sunlight.
When I planned all of these cities, I put them on my world map, and I listed them in a Word document. To me, both are important. If I am trying to determine the proximity of place A to place B, I refer to my main map. Otherwise, I refer to my Word document for details about this place.
Naming these cities was a fun process. I looked at our world map and tried to mimic sounds. For example, I saw the Icelandic capitol of Reykjavik, and I wanted one of my northern mountain cities to have a similar name. I called the Lowasii city, Nagdjik.
Another way I named cities was by brainstorming natural resources that surround the city. More will come on that in another post. So for example, there is a city in the U.S. called Salt Lake City, named after the Salt Lake.
It is totally possible to create a world and only define one city, working your way out as needed. It would still be a good idea to know who that city’s allies, trade partners, and enemies are and where they are on your map. You can really fill in the rest later. Or never, if that’s not important to your process. It’s kinda like Reese’s- there’s no wrong way to make a world. Just have fun with it.

Japanese Well-being Research
Throughout my time of practising mindfulness, I have come across the Japanese culture to look into, seeing as though a few Japanese anime films I’ve watched from Studio Ghibli contains scenes that are aesthetically peaceful made me wonder how they value their well-being. I was able to read a few books and research in order to benefit my development of producing a design/installation that’ll initially help those who are at home during the pandemic.
Books and cross ref – Japonisme Erin Niimi Longhurst
Onoiyari The Japanese art of compassion Erin Niimi Longhurst
Ikigai- Purpose / Finding Life’s Value
The Japanese concept of Ikigai is associated with an individuals purpose and values, for example; “the reason of getting up in the morning” what is your purpose or reasoning to start your day?. This means appreciating the smaller things in life which adds up to attracting grater things. There are ways in which this is practised throughout many others such as; getting and pen and paper and writing down your gratitude and showing compassion by all means helping others within the community this is known as Yuima-ru.
Hara Hachi Bu – 80% fullness
Looking nutritional aspects, the Japanese culture believes that the key to live longer is to practise of eating until you are 80% full. This was founded by the ancient Japanese suggesting that this allows your body the space it requires to digest which lowers the risk of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and many more. Their diet consists of minimal processed foods, fresh, small amounts of animal protein, more seafood, fruits and vegetables. Additionally, these types of foods contains chemicals that are proven to make you feel good, such as serotonin (which regulates the mood to promote better sleep.)
Okwiana Island short documentary about long lividity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6mOA16ACgY
Kaizen
This is based on improvement, what can you do in your daily to improve it? This could be lifestyle, a job or a task that requires to change and grow from. Shukanka is a way forming new habits that’ll improve daily lives this could be meditation practise, yoga in order to find truth and alignment this is known as Jikiri concepted founded by The Japanese Buddhism known as self-power.
Forest Bathing -Nature
Shirin-Yoku means to practise mindfulness in nature. This is also known as a nature’s therapy, to support health and well-ness, because spending time in forests and green spaces can help improve moods and cause a positive effect on your cardiovascular/immune systems. This was founded by the University of Derby a study they approached on wellbeing and nature. The idea of Shirin-Yoku allows you to practise mindfulness while being in the forest.
Onsen-
This is known as a spring ritual, of using geothermal water to help relax the body from any pain or recovery. Mentally, this is good for reducing any problems such as stress which allows you to have space
For centuries Japanese people have been using the geothermal water of Onsen to help them relax and recover from physical ailments, and more recently it seems clear that this pastime also helps reduce your chances of having health issues in the first place. Bathing in the hot water of an Onsen not only allows you to cleanse yourself of stress and strains, but also gives you space for self to think about life.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From this research I was able to learn about how the simple things in life is maintained in our lives to be put into practise of being mindful and improving mental wellbeing. From this, I will further my research by seeing if Japanese individuals practise their well-being when working in a busy setting this means contacting a few and understanding why ‘well-being’ should be recognised in the work industries and how it differentiates from the UK.
It is known as the economic power house of the Pacific with it’s 2% rate of unemployment which shows their loyalty towards businesses/companies are highly valued. The average hours an employee works in Japan is 9hrs and it’s said to be concerning if they over-work their hours. Just like in the UK most work places have an after party/drink after work, this is stressed by Japanese people as they feel as though they have to attend it which would show a good reputations towards them. A lot of these employees are committed to working hard, yet they do develop high amounts of stress due to being in a setting with full on concentration and over working this can have major effects on their health such as heart attack, stroke and suicide. In March 2016 the health ministry of Japan founded that there was nearly 3,000 deaths due to work-related stress. This is concerning as the way I see the Japanese culture is calm and peaceful from all the Japanese mindfulness books that are promoted in the UK it makes me perceive that the people who live in Japan must live a calm life, when really, work spaces and companies go through a lot of stress.

QUESTIONAIRE RESEARCH
INDIVIDUAL 1
Occupation : Managing Director, Dairy Import Corporation (Tokyo)
Date : 27/12/20
1.)How do you look after your well-being/ wellness?
Usually, I would go for a walks with my family on the weekends, sometimes I’d go for a run in the forest to catch some fresh air, because I liked to have moments away from city life, work especially as a managing director can be demanding. I also eat healthily and drink a lot of herbal teas to stay balance because I believe what you eat can reflect you as a person.
2.)Do look after your well-being during work breaks?
I don’t really have time to think about it during breaks because we are constantly working and only thinking about getting the job done , and lunch breaks go fast.
3.)Does our work have a community ritual such as extra break hours to celebrate a co-workers birthday or eating breakfast together?
Sometimes in my office we’d make tea for each other. In Celebratory moments we’d meet to have a drink after work such as beer or before the holiday season.
4.)How do you manage stress?
I tried to meditate and do breathing exercises before I sleep and wake up to ease my morning anxiety. It helps me to remain calm throughout the demanding day of importing products.
5.)Should well-being be recognised in the work industry?
Yes it should be, stress can have a negative impact on health such as pressure on the heart. Especially in busy cities such as Tokyo mental health isn’t really discussed because everyone is so into their work.
6.)Does Japan have any mindfulness apps for the phone?
I haven’t checked
7.)Do you practise any of these, Ikiagi, Kaizan, Hara Hachi Bu and Shirin Yoku?
Ikigai is something we all have to do in our daily lives, it is also taught in schools and by our grandparents/parents.
I do practise Hara Hachi Bu and Shirin Yoku during blossom season these show the beauty of the world were living in and creates an atmosphere of peace.
Thank you for taking your time answering my questions I appreciate it.

1.)How do you look after your well-being/ wellness?
I make sure I exercise a few hours a week to stay fit, even though I have children I make sure they join with me which is fun, and usually go on hikes in the holidays mostly as a family.
2.)Do look after your well-being during work breaks?
No not really,
3.)Does our work have a community ritual such as extra break hours to celebrate a co-workers birthday or eating breakfast together?
No
4.)How do you manage stress?
Exercising and fresh air.
5.)Should well-being be recognised in the work industry?
Yes as the demanding work can put stress on us.
6.)Does Japan have any mindfulness apps for the phone?
I’m not sure
7.)Do you practise any of these, Ikiagi, Kaizan, Hara Hachi Bu and Shirin Yoku?
Ikigai is important I practise it nearly everyday of my life.
Thank you for taking your time answering my questions I appreciate it.

It’s interesting to know that comparing to the UK, nutrition plays an important role in Japan in order to care for well-being this may have an impact on the mind itself. It seems as though even though Japan are known as a country of ‘mindfulness’ within the calm culture this isn’t really looked upon throughout their lives at work. Mainly because it is demanding, thus, this can have an impact on their wellness. It’s also obvious to know that they use the simplicity of ‘fresh’ air as a way of de-stress and therefore the idea of nature can be a link towards my installation.

Genome stability: Intricate process of DNA repair discovered
An elaborate system of filaments, liquid droplet dynamics and protein connectors enables the repair of some damaged DNA in the nuclei of cells, researchers at the University of Toronto have found. The findings further challenge the belief that broken DNA floats aimlessly -- and highlight the value of cross-disciplinary research in biology and physics.
DNA repair helps ensure genome stability, which in turn allows cells to function and promotes health in all organisms. Double-strand DNA breaks are especially toxic to cells, and researchers had assumed for decades that these breaks floated inside cell nuclei without direction, until they trigger other cellular changes or happen on a fixer mechanism.
That thinking began to change in 2015, when Karim Mekhail and his lab showed that damaged DNA can be intentionally transported by motor protein 'ambulances' to DNA 'hospitals,' areas enriched with certain repair factors in the nuclei. The researchers later worked with U of T aerospace engineers to show that after a single double-strand break, DNA travels for repair via long 'autobahns' of thread-like microtubules, which are also moving.
In the current study, Mekhail and lead author Roxanne Oshidari looked at yeast cells with many DNA double-strand breaks, and showed that coordination between shorter types of microtubule filaments and liquid-like droplets composed of DNA repair proteins enables the creation and function of a DNA repair centre.
"The liquid droplets work with intranuclear microtubules to promote the clustering of damaged DNA sites," says Mekhail, an associate professor of laboratory medicine and pathobiology at U of T. "Repair proteins at these different sites assemble in droplets that fuse into a larger repair-centre droplet, through the action of the shorter nuclear microtubules."
This larger oil-like droplet then behaves like a spider, says Mekhail, shooting out a web of star-shaped filaments that tether to the longer autobahns along which damaged DNA can be transported to the DNA hospitals.
The journal Nature Communications published the findings today.
Mekhail turned to Nasser Ashgriz, a professor in U of T's department of mechanical and industrial engineering, to measure and understand the role of droplets in the repair process. "You couldn't ask for better expertise in fluid dynamics, and he was just across the road," Mekhail says of Ashgriz, who runs U of T's multi-phase flow and spray systems lab.
Mekhail brought a video of the droplets to Ashgriz, who projected it on a large screen in his office and confirmed that fluid dynamics appeared to be at play. But communication across the biology-physics divide was challenging. "Understanding what they do was very difficult in the beginning because our terminologies are totally different," says Ashgriz.
When he and Mekhail used plain language to describe how the droplets behaved, however, things started to make sense. "We focused on the physical aspects of the droplets," Ashgriz says. "The physics that cause their motion and dynamics became our common language."
After months of talks and experiments, computer simulations repeatedly predicted that the shorter filaments would move like pistons, lowering pressure in the nucleoplasm and creating a suction effect that leads to the fusion of droplets. Mekhail and his team confirmed that finding in their lab.
"Often when we dive deep in the specifics of a field, we get separated from one another," Ashgriz says. "Bringing together people with different views can really improve understanding, and this work was a good example -- with credit to Karim for his vision and initiative."
Mekhail and his team also uncovered further important properties of the repair droplets with U of T professors Hyun Kate Lee and Haley Wyatt in the department of biochemistry, in a process Mekhail likens to play with toys. They ran the droplets through many tests, bouncing them against each other and observing their behaviour, which turned out to be very similar in a petri dish and in cells.
The most surprising finding came after several cycles of droplet fusion, the researchers found. "It was very bizarre and totally unexpected, I still remember the day," Mekhail says. Oshidari observed that the larger droplets initiate an internal concentration of filament building blocks, forcing creation of a kind of self-interlocking brick road, which together with the spidery webs allow DNA to hook onto the longer autobahn filaments.
The complex process is easy to miss when looking at DNA damage sites, says Mekhail, largely because imaging in the field has become highly automated. Most software has been set up to see what has already been seen. "We can't rely on the old ways of observing," he says. "We need to update our software and also go back to looking with the human eye, guided by simulations when needed."
