(I wanted to write some more about Melon Bug, and I liked the original post just fine, so this post will be a continuation since that one was so short!)

An isopod! Oh, joyous day! It may not look like one at all with that big ol’ nose, but when it’s rolled up, there is no mistaking it! Here’s a very fun fact: when an isopod curls into a ball, it’s called conglobation! Use that in your everyday lives.

Melon Bug technically isn’t an enemy, you know the drill, weird Mario friends, that usual thing. When curled up, Yoshi can lick them up and spit them out, defeating enemies they hit! Could this be the first instance of weaponized isopods?

The Player's Guide says "These feisty hoppers transform from bug to melon and back again." Feisty? They're only slightly more feisty than a real pill bug! And a real pill bug has a negative Feistiness Level. I don't think whoever wrote this has played the game, since Melon Bug is harmless! I also don't think they know about real pill bugs, because they clearly can't cogitate conglobation. A bug transforming into a melon? How unrealistic! What do they think this is, Trip World?

I think "Melon Bug" is a very good name. An incredible name, even! When Melon Bug curls up, it, obviously, resembles a melon, what with both being round with stripes. While real pill bugs don't really have "stripes", their tergites (armor plates) do give a "lined" appearance. If you ask me, Melon Bug could be a good name even for real terrestrial isopods!

What do YOU call pill bugs? I've always called them roly-polies, but they have so many wacky names. Woodlouse? Yeah sure, a bug that lives under wood, why not! Butchy-boy? I don't get it, but it's funny. Then there are all the names comparing them to pigs which I just do not get, but groundhogs also get compared to pigs in common names a lot, so maybe people just don't know pigs as well as they like to think. And THEN! England gave them a bunch of CHEESE-related names. What is happening over there? Are British people somehow making cheese from isopod secretions? Why would you call this creature a CHEESELOG? That's a straight up food! I kind of love this name for them for being so ridiculous! Anyway, my point with all this is that Melon Bug would be more actually fitting than the majority of the common names these have been given, but sometimes it is more fun to be unfitting!

Isn't it weird how Melon Bug's art doesn't quite look like the sprite? Such bulging eyes in the art, but little dots in-game... well, we now know the reason!

Remember Super Donkey, from the 2020 gigaleak? I feel like it's been far too forgotten for how interesting it is! Anyway, as I mentioned when talking about that game, Melon Bug was originally designed for it! It seems like the Yoshi's Island art was drawn before they decided to shrink its sclerae, and lighten its colors, but after they decided to give it little red shoes.

If you grew up calling roly-polies something else, or if you know fun names from other languages, I would love to hear them! And I hope you love and appreciate these creatures! They are so common and easy to observe, so rather than get jaded to their presence, celebrate them, and you will be able to find delight whenever you turn over a log!

You or your person may really be an overthinker and be self judging a lot or/and fearing others' judgement. I feel it's more you and your person is gonna help you quiet your mind. I mean, it's ofc okay, you need to do this only as much as you can, but... you should try to get further, maybe? Only to know yourself a little, to understand what is blocking you and scarying you so much. You don't have to do it alone: this type of trips are tricky, they may hide lot of hidden stuff and it's good to have someone to lean on... I think your person will be this for you. I think you (and your person) may need to work on intimacy. Not just the physical one (despite for many of you it's this one mostly) but the emotional one too. Being emotionally intimate means to be open and vulnerable, not just as in pile 3 but mostly as being able to talk about your darkest parts without fearing being judged (cause there's nothing to be judged for; and if someone does that, it's them projecting themselves on you, not you). As for being physically intimate, you may have past traumas or simply had experienced something that made you feel scared of being touched, not just as for 18+ things but also hugged or caressed by others. This is a scar that needs time and patience to heal. That needs you to be patient and kind with yourself. That asks you to start reconnecting with your body and giving you the physical appreciation you deserve and need. Whatever type it is. Take your time to know yourself, your body, your emotions and how they move in your body. It wasn't on you, it wasn't your fault, whatever happened (or didn't: maybe suddenly people stopped touching you or showing you physical affection. You did nothing wrong. Take time to grieve this, and remind yourself it wasn't on you: it was the other not being able to give you what you needed cause of their own emotional problems, be it just an hug when you were down). Dance, do something you enjoy (anything artistic), move, walk, exercise, paint... realize that you deserve all the intimacy you're going to experience with your person. They will be there to help you too, by working with you and your fears, taking things slow, not rushing anything: if you haven't been in a relationship before, don't worry. They will give you time to get accostumed to them and the whole thing.. it'll feel like you have a buddy, but you can also count on them being there for you and show you that you can be loved and showed this love physically too. FINAL THOUGHTS:

dude that first issue was wordy but the kids were ON POINT. they were so fun!! their dialogue is fun and they kick ass.

i loved yi announcing the punishment for casey while the others were like NOO SHE DIDNT MEAN THAT DONT LISTEN TO HER. we're getting more of their personalities and it's great!! it was a nice throwback to issue 2 of lost years when they were cleaning - yi refused to help because of how strictly she was following instructions. im picking up that she might be neurodivergent but i did get that from the lost years too - only doing things within strict instructions, getting frustrated at teaching odyn chess, not because of him playing horseys with the knights but that it was Against The Rules Of Chess - and now not picking up on some social cues. It's nice to see!! I love her very much, but it feels like besides rehashing the origin story she took a bit of a backseat to the other three.

i want to know more about why uno said being a rebel was moja's 'thing', since she didn't seem to be any more rebellious than the other three in this issue. we didn't get any unique interactions between her and casey marie which is what i felt was lacking from lost years but i wonder if this is hinting towards a more turbulent mother-daughter dynamic with them... I REALLY HOPE SO!! her and uno butting heads in a leo-raph way is very fun - i don't mind one or two prior group dynamics leaking into the new turtle siblings because they're all so different from the original 4.

uno seems to be taking on slightly more of a leader role than moja so i think he won the title of fearless leader. which is fine, i think it'll be fun to see and he's definitely less of an asshole now than when he was growing up in lost years. still picking on odyn a bit but seems to snipe at moja just as much. even when he was commenting on yi's storytelling he didn't make fun of her, though - i think she may have inherited the 2k3 don ability of being Completely Unbullyable.

i was really pleased that odyn felt more involved!! i feel like he took the backseat a few times in lost years - it was fun seeing more of his personality shine through! he and yi seem to get on the best, and i giggled at them rolling their eyes at moja and uno's raph-leo schtick. i didn't expect him to TURN TO FUCKING STONE THOUGH, so i'm nervous about that. WHAT DOES IT MEAN? WHO DID THIS TO MY BOY? IS HE GOING TO TURN BACK NEXT CHAPTER OR IS HE OUT OF COMMISSION UNTIL THE END OF THE RUN??? (if it's the latter i'll be a bit annoyed - don't take odyn away from the equation please!!)

I do wonder if by introducing casually that they can PSYCHICALLY CONNECT, the turtles will use that as a technique to reach odyn's mind to make sure he's still in there and piece together what's happened to him. i mean, their casual telepathy has gotta be some sort of chekhov's gun right?

and shit.... april was so fucking mad casey took the babies out so she's going to EXPLODE when she finds out what happened to her baby boy, her beloved favourite, her baby odyn :''(( im giggling rubbing my hands together waiting for the fallout but also if she cries i might cry too. speaking of april, she seems to be working on a new project and i saw nano particles mentioned - are we going to have a roninverse version of nano in this run???? as always, casey marie... u have aged like fine wine. u are stunning. disappointed that ur still believing that jiro can do good as a cop when their entire police force and government is corrupt as fuck. just feels very naive of her. i'm excited to see her break down at the concept of losing odyn - in fact i need everyone to mourn this beautiful kid. they tell us so much that shes a super clingy helicopter mom and i am picking up on the strict part, but it would be nice to see more of her just... hugging her kids. holding them. i get why she didnt in this issue but id love more mama casey squishing their cheeks and kissing their foreheads.

i have zero fucking clue what's going on with odyn. im wondering if it's somehow related to nano, or to whatever project April is working on - she says it's to do with clearing the tunnels, but I''m not convinced. who knows, there might be some ulterior motive happening.

I mean this in the nicest, most respectful way possible, but: the durge story line in game is absolute and utter trash I'm so sorry. The absolute lack of reactions from ur companions, the fact that there's no consequences from them except Wyll and the 2 guys you met literally 5 minutes ago, the sudden shift of tone in Act 3 when Durge remembers who they r and immediately goes 'I'm daddy's lil princess and yall can smd'. It's just infuriating atp. Like I love Durge and I do appreciate the vagueness cuz it allows for a lot of topics to be brought up but none of them r really tackled by a game thats praised for handling trauma in a tactful manner. They're made to be the laughing stock and comedic relief and honestly it's just distasteful when you recall that a lot of ppl with certain types of trauma or addiction issues can so greatly relate to them. There was a lot of dark shit they could've expressed with that origin. And they did. But it was cannibalism and necrophilia for the sake of sensationalism and slapstick comedy.

As for Gort it's the remote work I've talked about b4 lmao. They rly just banished the most powerful political leader of the Gate from the Gate and made him work remotely from a shabby fortress outside of the city he's ruling. I know why they did it, I can understand it, but it's still hilarious and probs a hot take cuz like yk that man wouldn't reside there if it wasn't for the scrapping of the upper city.

7. Would Orins premature death have impacted them and their dynamic? How? Why? Why not?

Okay, so first up, there's smth ya need to know to understand this. Elli had a sister, and even if they weren't blood related he considered his foster family to be his, well, family and loved them. And that man, at least pre tadpole, is pretty much aware of what happened when the urge awakened and how he's the very thing he couldn't protect his treasured people from, despite that being his greatest desire.

So in other words, he's 10000% projecting the sister he's killed onto Orin. He's lenient with her and protective over her. To him, she's the sister he could and will save. She's the last bit of family and treasured people he has left. So if anything were to happen to her, he'd snap. Because that man is utterly traumatised and he simply wouldn't be able to deal with another loss like that, but he's also the type to run away so he'd just become the perfect pretty puppet Bhaal would've always wanted and simply cease to exist as a person, wholly devoting himself to the plan just so he can escape this dreadful hell he's forced to live in ASAP. Which, in turn, would also destroy everything Gortash enjoyed about him. Elli would remove himself to the best of his ability and simply become someone following orders without thinking, smth Gortash enjoys in everyone but his equal, which would cause him to withdraw as well. They'd just kinda get miserable by themselves again, completely terminating whatever was before. Cuz Gort can't see Elli breaking to such a degree thx of his own issues and him being a permanent reminder that Gort himself isn't safe even after everything, and Elli simply has 0 capacity for any sort of attachments left. 'If he's gonna lose them anyway, might as well not forge them in the first place' kinda mindset.

Now, if Gortash somehow had his hands in that, and Elli would find out however... Well, Elli considers death to be a mercy, so Gort would probably live to see his age turn three digits, all while he suffers from the Bhaalspawn's wrath. Seeing all he's ever built crumble and fall for no other reason than the elfs spite and desire to destroy the one who took his sister. Like that man would grind Gort down to the point where Gort would even consider his time in HoH a walk in the park, all while Elli ruins himself as well cuz arguably the second he loses someone else he'd absolutely discard any attachments to life and staying alive too. His motivation to obey Bhaal was the promise of control and protection, and without someone left to protect, he'd have no reason left to make sure Bhaals plans don't go up in flames.

If he hadn't lost his memories Orin would still be alive nd thriving simply cuz Elli couldn't kill her and would instead either protect her or die for her sake, no doubt abt that.

Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 7 Minagoroshi pt. 11

Rika and friends have a nice lengthy chat about how they need to force the Children Consultation Service into helping Satoko out of her nasty situation. Rika becomes a lot more passive, because she's seen this scenario play out before and she's become overcome with depression over the fact it's happening again, and she just doesn't see it ending any other way than it usually does. She also becomes a lot more cavalier about mentioning events from other timelines (they eventually settle on calling them worlds) mentioning point blank to Shion that she's surprised she cares so much about Satoko this time around. After school they go off to the Child Consultation Service, where they're more or less given the brush off. It's only been one day since Teppei came back, and surely they're overreacting.

So Keiichi starts forming the plan to gather various townspeople together to help them show up to the CCS and show them how serious the situation is.

Remember, Teppei is a bad guy because he would sexually abuse Satoko if she were a few years older. Kameda is a goofy fun guy because he's a bit of a creepy loli weirdo. Or would Irie be the better contrast here?

You ever read a scene that you can feel it in your bones that if this had been translated even a few years earlier it would be rife with "edgy" jokes? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the MangaGamers version is a re-translation so I don't doubt that there's one that just is peppered with the occasional slur randomly in the dialogue. I would like to point out that to this day the version of Final Fantasy VII you can buy digitally still includes the scene where Tifa uses the r-word. Also, I just want to say this is a really weird tangent for Ryukishi07 to go on in the middle of this arc.

Tower of Druaga and Dragon Buster won't come out for another year Keiichi! You're being nostalgic for games that don't even exist yet you time traveling weirdo! Man, Keiichi is going to be in for the time of his life when the MSX or PC-88 becomes a thing. There's going to be so much pornographic mahjong games out there for him. I kind of love how everyone's knee-jerk reaction to the Teppei situation is to just go immediately to violence. Except for the "reasonable" adults, everyone's reaction has more or less just been "let's kill the fucker."

Rika is being much more open about her desires to drown her sorrows. I think she might have a problem. (I'm quietly mourning my lack of photo editing software, or drive to edit Rika onto Stone Cold Steve Austin.)

Lighthearted silliness aside now it's time to get back to talking about the Satoko Houjou cruel abuse hour. During a meeting for the festival Keiichi and Ooishi talk about how they plan to go to the Child Consultation Center the next day and make them see their resolve. Ooishi talks about how hey maybe don't, cause it might cause issues if you know what I mean. Keiichi says nuts to that and he's going to do it anyway. He's gonna be the biggest, loudest, most persistently annoying thorn in their side, and no one can stop his manly resolve! Ooishi basically applauds this resolve, and the two have a manly fist bump affirming their manliness across the generational gap.

Guess who finally finished Sebastians quest and saw the last pensive memory. This gal. And let me tell you I HAVE SOME THOUGHTS AND THEORIES FRIENDS! LONG ramble & spoilers for HL below the read more.

Sebastian quest:

So first of all focusing on the Sebastian quest line Solomon was so out of pocket for trying to attack us while inferi we're attacking us?  Like excuse me sir are you actually just trying to kill us maybe let's take care of the undead before we start fighting?  Also this man was an auror right so like he should be able to easily disarm 2 students without having too completely fight us like he was.

Also the Slytherclaw in me was coming out because when he destroyed that artifact I got so mad that is history and like an archeological find and now it's lost to history because he destroyed it instead of responsible people studying it.

But I do have to say I feel like it was very obvious that he had some PTSD or a lot of his own issues that hes trying to figure out. So he clearly also wasn't dealing with the situation in a healthy way none of it was healthy or good.

I obviously did not turn in my main boy Sebastian absolutely not we are ride or die lol.

Main Quest:

The way I'm playing the Isadora and Sebastian crosslines are happening like simultaneously. So it's super easy to see the similarities and comparisons between the 2 about how Isadora and Sebastian are trying to help people but maybe it's not doing so in the right way. Obviously I think Sebastian is way more in the right than Isadora. Like originally when I was reading theories about Isadora I was totally kind of on her side but then when they started showing that she was practicing her magic on students....minors.... like literally 1st year Hogwarts students I was like OK now that's not cool.

Also like her dad being wiped off all emotion is definitely a step too far I believe there could be an importance for relieving pain when needed but pain is also there to help us learn and appreciate the good in life. Literally this is a Vampire Diaries moment do not turn off your humanity switch LMAO.

I just want to mention that because my MC is a girl San Bakar's comments to us about not feeling like we are trustworthy felt lowkey a little sexist just because we are the only other 5th year female to wield this power other than Niahm.

OKAY NOW FOR THE GAME THEORY:

At the moment of writing this I technically have not finished the full game but I know it happens,  But I remember people theorizing about a specific part that I just witnessed with Isadora and her death.

When San Bakar does the avidikidivi on Isadora and she x_x yknow.  We see these little traces of ancient magic leaving her into the repository. And I saw a lot of people theorizing that maybe this is her leaving some part of her behind and that there's something hidden there but I actually think a more likely theory is that the part of her that is leaving is used to somehow help set up her pensive so that the future ancient magic weilder can see her memories. So she basically set up a plan B.

What I also found really creepy was that as she is dying like being hit by the spell her eyes kind of go blank and she smiles falters and then falls whereas we have seen a lot of people will just instantly die. I have 2 theories on this one of them that is connected to her setting up the pensive is her knowing that everything is safe like her memories and her theories and that they'll be passed on but I also think that she has removed pain from herself to the point that she doesn't even feel the pain of the most powerful killing curse.

It's a little bit like death note lol where I think this dark use of ancient magic tainted her and changed her personality from her true self almost like a drug.  To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if she actually made horcruxes.

Anyways I was a lot of rambling but I do think that the Keepers are also a bit wrong for a just completely shutting this down instead of looking into it any responsible healthy way.

Sirius not being able to torture bc he can't find the wall in his mind to hide and pretend he's just a knife

Also in regulus pov we saw how s became like a puppet and how life was sucked out of him when his parents obliviated him and now sirius is going through that phase even more intensely, his last two years are gone and he feels a yearning he doesn't understand, his magic is strange to him and he is in a miserable marriage he can't get out of, he suspects he betrayed voldemort but he can't even think about it in fear of voldemort seeing it, his now wife was relieved he was gone and maybe in some aspect wish he was dead bc that might actually be better than the alternative, part of him is dead already, he is so utterly alone and always under watchful eyes of his parents and voldy that he isn't even safe in his own mind.... The misery is Real

I never rly liked peter in fact he's the character i hate the most in canon because he made all the wrong choices when he had the chance to make the right ones and now to see how it parallels his role in atwmd is like a punch in the gut

And and and the part where sirius looks at the full moon and grieves made me feel like i'm having an open heart surgery with no anesthesia

i’m not a big peter fan either lol i do think he’s a fun character 2 play around w tho! like in this fic specifically joining the de is an avenue 2 certain kinds of privilege that (from his pov) he’s had 2 work really hard 2 access etc…he’s not necessarily straightforwardly evil so much as representative of a person who buys into a corrupt system & the power it promises which both sirius + regulus have also done in different ways at different points so! fun 2 think abt the parallels & divergences between the three of them…

Hello, first of all, I love your writing, I wish I could write like you ;u;, I really admire your dedication. I used to write on AO3, but I haven't done it for 5 years.

Anyway, I just wanted to express my opinion that, Vox doesn't deserve to be with Alastor because he is not a good partner for him. He always claims that he loves Alastor with all his heart, but it seems superficial, and here are my point

1. Vox almost abused Alastor in *Etched* if it weren’t for Alastor ripping his cables out. Maybe he would have succeeded.

2. Vox never sacrifices anything for Alastor. Even though Alastor doesn’t admit that "he loves him," he always gives him everything and sacrificed even his heart for him. And Vox didn’t even bother to defend him, nor did he care to believe him. He’s too selfish and delusional to admit any fault. I feel like he's the kind of person who feels guilty but believes that feeling bad is enough. He has never apologized to Alastor face to face while he's awake.

3. He never apologized for cheating on him with Elliot, Valentino, or Tornado.

4. He keeps being an idiot and supporting Redfall BOTH TIMES. My theory is that Redfall reminds him of how he was when he was alive, so he normalizes and justifies this type of person.

5. He left Alastor starving at his house and decided to ignore him, trying to convince himself that Alastor doesn’t love him, even though he kept his damn company. And then he abandons him again because obviously, his company is more important than Alastor.

6. VOX GOT A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF RECIPROCITY, AND ALASTOR TRUSTED HIM ONCE IN HIS LIFE, AND VOX JUST... ruined it.

7. He didn’t wear the ring Alastor gave him, and from what I’ve seen, as long as he’s satisfied and nothing happens in front of him, he doesn’t care about Alastor’s well-being. Then he did the "r-word" to Alastor (I’m not comfortable saying it) MULTIPLE TIMES (although I could somewhat understand it because he swore there was consent, but still, I don’t justify it). And he didn’t apologize either. He only realized something was wrong during the abortion scene (my theory is that in Alastor’s hallucinations, he was afraid the baby was Redfall’s). Anyway, THAT HAD TO HAPPEN FOR VOX TO REALIZE, and still the only one suffering is Alastor

I'm not saying it's poorly written, because it’s established that Vox is a bad person—with his ex-partners, with other people, harassing girls from what he talked about with Redfall, and being a coward, of course he is a terrible person. And if Alastor has never turned to him for help or much else, and still hasn't bothered to tell him what the hell happened in those 7 years he disappeared, it’s just that it bothers me that, as a character, Vox always claims to love Alastor, but never follows through with actions after those declarations. Maybe Alastor is better off without Vox. .

True, if Alastor hadn't stopped Vox, who knows what would've happened? It's possible Vox would've stopped on his own, but I think it'd be mre likely he would've gone too far before realising that Al doesn't actually *do* this.

Alastor is probably the one thing that Vox really truly cares about, and so is: he fucks up. A lot. He doesn't want to do anything wrong, and in so doing, he just makes it worse. Also Vox is usually with people that are very straight forward with what they want (like Val) so having someone like Al who just won't say what he wants, Vox is usually at a loss for what to do. Not that that justifies his behaviour, he should be able to pick up context clues :p

I'm impressed you remember Tornado... my little shark... rip him in pieces. Also, I don't think Vox *really* counts it as cheating. Val happened while Alastor was away, Elliot was technically assisted cheating and they had a fight (sort of) so Vox was justified. And Tornado; well, I guess you could say Vox wasn't sure if he and Al were in a relationship or not? And then you'd need to define what cheating would even entail because even if it might sound different, Alastor doesn't care if Vox has sex with Val. He cares whether or not Vox loves someone else, and those are two different things.

Yeah, Redfall def reminds him of himself a little. He ahould've taken Alastor's initial reaction to heart and kick the dog out, but he didn't.

To be a bit fair: Vox didn't think it would be so bad. All his life, Al had been this pretty untouchable thing that was just always going to be fine. The first month was put of his hand, and the second month was him being petty. And barren Elliot, when they had their fight, Alastor *was* fine.

Yeah.. yeah, he ruined it. But as always - Alastor will just forgive him.

Vox didn't wear the ring because he doesn't have it on his person. It's back at the tower, and Vox didn't want to go back to get it at that point, especially because Redfall came in right after. He didn't wear it beforehand because he was't sure if it was okay to do so, even though Al gave it to him. (Also it's a bit too tight because Al only had his own finger for comparison) To Vox, it really wasn't assault. Sure, he absolutely should've checked if Al was really okay, but all the signs he could see pointed to yes. Also in that timeframe, he believes that what Redfall did wasn't *so bad*. Sure it wasn't okay, but as an singular action existing in a vacuum, it wasn't the worst that could've happened. (He's wrong, of course, as Niffty basically tells him point-blank.) And yes, that's exactly what Alastor is believing in that scene :)

To be fair... Alastor hasn't talked about what happened in the seven years because... I don't know what happened? :P I like to stay as on-canon as I can, and we have no crumbs to go on atm. And I mean - that's why love isn't enough. He says he loves him, and he DOES, but there's nothing else. There's just love, and that's just not enough. Yeah, Alastor might be better off without Vox. But that's not really the thing that's gonna matter, is it? We don't always get what's best for us; or what we deserve, sometimes we get the thing we want, even if it's bad for us. And Alastor knows what he wants, and not much else will suffice. Vox might not redeem himself to Alastor, because in the end, the one person that matters won't ask it of him. He still can; and he still should, but he won't have to. We'll see what happens. Everything's still up in the air, and maybe Vox and Alastor will surprise all of us! :D

SP HeroForge: The Unnamed (1)

I initially tried to stick to your ref sheet of the original Unnamed, but HeroForge’s options do not lend themselves well to that corporeal-Nazgul look. Not enough chains or billowing sleeves and the tattered robe options look bad to me. So I gave up on that and went off-script entirely with this immortal mummified pharaoh vibe, mostly of my own invention.

HeroForge doesn’t have an option for floating pieces around the head for that King of the Darklands crown, (these models have to be 3D-printable) but I got reasonably close with a ring of horns.

So in the Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead, there are a few lines that have been stuck in my head ever since I learned them. Echoing around in my mind, like I was always meant to hear them, like they were written for me. Which I guess in a way, they were. The Book of the Dead, which is also called the Book of Going Forth By Day, is actually a religious text, not some kind of spellbook of Old Kingdom necromancy or whatever it is depicted as in historically illiterate fiction.

The Ancient Egyptian religion is actually the source of True Name lore. For example, Isis, daughter of Ra, learns Ra’s True Name. She does this by poisoning him with an enchanted serpent she conjures, then tricking him into revealing his secret name to her so she can heal him. When he does so, she gains his power. Does this event remind you of anything that happened in phase 2 of Skulduggery Pleasant? I can think of one in particular.

Anyway, the lines are thus:

“I am the Great One, son of the Great One”

“I am fire, son of fire, whose head was given to him after it was cut off.”

These refer to the god Osiris, torn apart and later retrieved, stitched back together, embalmed and resurrected by his wife, or more generally the souls of the dead on their journey through the underworld to new life, who Osiris serves as a kind of exemplar for. But I found myself thinking about them again while customizing the Unnamed in HeroForge, and thought, what about a special version just for him?

“I am the Nameless, child of the Faceless.”

“I am no one, son of no one, over whom death has neither call nor claim.”

Ya trying a bit to hard on the quotes ngl. The only quote I like is the one based on the Book of the Dead. Tho the Unnamed describing himself as Child of the Faceless feels ooc for him. He infantilizes others by calling them ‘boy’ but not himself. Him calling himself ‘heir’ to the Faceless would seem more fitting to me.

Is he holding the Godkiller Sword?

I love that you based him off Egyptian lore. I’m pretty sure that Landy actually admitted in one interview that he based the name system on the Egyptian three names lore, yet you’re the first I saw do something with that information. So big bonus points for including that lore  The only thing I don’t like is that the bandages don’t cover him completely.

(I’d imagine Mev and Nef hate it too lol no one wants to see that nasty old man skin. Imagine this scene but with the Unnamed and Mev/Nef .3.)

But HF’s limits options are to blame for that and not you. That’s why I hardly play around with HF tbh bc not being able to do what I want drives me nuts haha.

Random things that just make sense for people in the Undercity:

Collecting Rainwater: While not 100% free from pollution it is way safer than the lake water and trusting the questionable cheap pipes. So rainwater is typically preferred whenever available. Aside from solar panels, many roofs are covered with containers to catch rainwater. When it rains water rather than acid it is basically considered a mini-holiday.

"Stay Strapped or...": If you get into a confrontation that's getting ugly, chances are there's no one coming to help. Being able to defend yourself can mean the difference between life and death.

"Look Tough or Look Rough": Appearances mean a lot in Neocago. If you look like someone no one wants to mess with it'll detour most people from even looking at you the wrong way. On the other side of the coin, if you look worse off than everyone else it'll keep most people from even looking at you to begin with.

"Do What You Can": Is there a leaky pipe leading to the neighbor's room? A cut cable to the local clothing store? Has that garbage bag been sitting at that corner for the last three weeks? Do you have the skills/equipment/time to fix it? If yes, do it. Firstly because someone will see it and/or appreciate it. Communities are built on a foundation of small acts of kindness. Those acts of kindness are cheap, but the community it builds is priceless. Secondly because if you don't, no one else will.

"Don't Break Good Things": You are going to have a bad time if you are known as the reason why the local power is out. On a smaller level nearly anything could be used for something, so try to keep it in usable/good shape.

Don't Mess with the Local Gang: Just don't do it. If you don't need to interact with them then don't. If you do, make damn well sure you don't get on their bad side.

Have an Umbrella or Jacket: Leaking pipes and draining water pouring from the structure above is common enough that it's a good idea to always have something to keep yourself dry on hand.

Have a Flashlight: Not every hallway, alleyway, or street is guaranteed to be light. A flashlight, or other light source, is one of the more useful tools to have on hand.

Safe Entertainment: Anyone over the age of 40 probably remembers what the world was like before the Great Collapse. They usually have the best stories and are usually willing to share in exchange for a can of Apex Fizz or decent food. It's one of the best available bits of entertainment that isn't addictive and/or outright bad for you in the long run. Also as a bonus you can possibly get a good friend with a lot more life experience out of the exchange. Good friends are gold here.

Avoid Tourists: They either bring trouble or attract it. Either way, you don't want to be there when it happens. (To the people of the Undercity, "tourist" means anyone not from the Undercity or to a lesser extent the local area.)

Warning: probably a long text w/ a horse cutted by half because it's been years since I watched 2012 TMNT. (Only 3 seasons or 2 I watched but I remember their dynamics, and in willing to watch it again and complete the series)

Well, I remember when watching 2012 the turtles would be indeed having those problems between them and it's something you can see sometimes about how they interact- but yeah as ppl are saying when you see who uses the abuse only looks towards Mikey, but he's not a "UwU baby" no he's not 👤 and Tbh all of the boys have their own flaws and Ahole moments for ig tension for some discussions between them.

Ofc for what I've seen, it does get a lot of road to walk in the series, of their own relationships and problems. I don't think they are abused or abuse each other. Tbh the thing you can say it's:

They miscommunicate, they are immature(for alot of things) but I don't see it as the level of "Omg they're abusers to *insert fan favourite*!!" Because as said, some of the excuses for say that could be then easily putted on the whole ass family. But ya.

I'm not an abuse specialist since I'm really slow on shit that are around me lmao

But in a shitty conclusion:

Depends on your view. But their siblings demonstration is ofc different from others iteration. Their way is that. I do remember hating on 12 Raph but now I see myself on him. And pretty much it's most of how they're distante from each one at some points and don't even see their family problems and yeah, I think they do have their point we're they are more united and learn but yeah.

And being distant is something that happens w/ me and my sib. We have points were we joke around but we are distant about our own feelings and things that bother us. And it's a problem because there's fights because of that. And I remember that on some part of their relationships in 2012.

im not an abuse specialist either but to me abuse is any kind of repetitive mistreatment and disregard for boundaries (i could probably spend more time on my specific definition but we'd be here for days if i did that) (neglect is also abuse and i think the turtles have probably been at least emotionally neglected, but that's not what we're talking about rn).

so the question of if they abuse each other is, to me, more of you the viewer deciding how much they care about what they do to each other.

like if mikey doesn't actually mind when raph hits him its probably not abuse, just sibling roughhousing. likewise, if for example, Donnie genuinely hates being made fun of and it makes him feel less able to open up about his feelings, but the others keep doing it anyway cause thats Just What They Do, then that WOULD be abuse to me.

but they all kind of do this cause its a 2012 kids show and emotional constipation is basically the law of the land around those parts.

ah but i think i've made that point before, so i'll try to stay on topic..

ive gotta agree that if i wrote about the 2012 gang and abuse, I wouldn't just focus on mikey. mainly because that's not usually the whole story when it comes to abuse. typically if one kid is being abused by all the others, its because they've all been encouraged to in some way by the adult. and if you DONT join in there's a chance you could be the next target. and thats a threat in itself, so even IF Mikey was the only one being abused (which I wouldnt write because that doesn't really align with how i see the 2012 boys) the others would STILL be in a fucked up situation and need to have their own problems addressed.

but i dont see mikey as the punching bag. it seems like they can all be pretty cruel to each other sometimes. and i know its like part of the era the tv show came from but that doesnt stop me from being interested in exploring those dynamics.

Hey uh.. sorry if this is so rambly and long a lot happened and is going on. Also tw for talk of genitals, mentions of medical abuse and intersexism

So.. my (23 afab) balls dropped on me last April. Didn't know I had them ok lol. Anyways, I already suspected I was intersex for almost a year at that point as well.. the previous summer I was finally able to pull back my clitoral hood (the opening was and is way too small) and it looked /looks exactly like the tip of a penis. (Idk I guess I was in a weird state of denial before April? But I've also delt with a lot of medical gaslighting before so..) but since the ball drop everything's changing. More body hair, acne, appetite, fat n muscle distribution, period gettin weird, etc. Like I'm on a low dose of T which yeah duh testes finally dropped.

I honestly think I flew under the radar at birth. And my puberty was normal all things considered. I've always had a clitoris bigger than normal but I've looked and never found any surgery scars 1. And 2. My family on my dad's side has a VERY long history of medical abuse. We're rightfully VERY suspectful of doctors. Also my mom's a nurse and knows when doctors are bullshitting (sidenote but I actually did need braces and once they were finally off they tried to talk to us to get more work done. It wasn't necessary but they still tried cuz America and Capitalism hurray. She just said hmmm ok and we walked away and I never had another app. with them lmaoo). Anyways, yeah I can totally see this flying under the radar at birth. I didn't take any sorts of medications either growing up n had a pretty normal puberty. I haven't asked them yet tho cuz omg NO that's way too fuckin awkward. I've just been chilling rn for the most part. I also haven't seen the doctor yet cuz I also have my own medical trauma :D! (Also now's just not the time financially) And I know once that's on my medical record it's on my medical record and I'm not ready to deal with doctors not being normal about me.

Just.. Idk what to do right now. I don't even know what I have either. Like, no fuckin clue?? I've tried to research it but medical texts are not easy reads and are often violently intersexist.. I don't even know how to navigate this medically and to keep myself safe from medical abuse when the time comes. All I know is I don't want my testes removed or have any cosmetic surgery to make my genitals more "normal" and that doctors will generally fight me on that. I don't know even know if I want to tell my mother about it? I trust her with other medical stuff she's unironically been a lifesaver before (and helped me navigate through the medical system too) but like 1. One she's my mom that's fuckin awkward and 2. I know her she's going to blame herself. Wonder what she ate/drank while pregnant with me and that the intersexism that I'll face will be her fault. Idk I'm still debating that one

I've talked to friends about it and both my sister and cousin. They've all been amazing and supportive :'). I've found some community and some resources which have been really helpful too. Other then that tho I have no idea where to go from here. So uh yeah..

I'm very glad you've found and have a good support system, such as in people like your friends, sister, and cousin. But I hear and sympathize with you on your struggles as well. You aren't obligated to come out as intersex to anyone, and no matter what your reasons are, they are valid. And it can completely be an awkward topic to talk about. Everyone is different in what they are comfortable with talking about, especially regarding topics that delve into sexual health and sexual matters. If you do choose to tell your mom, or anyone for that matter, remember this: You are not responsible for their reactions! If you told your mother and she blames herself for it, that isn't your responsibility, nor is it your fault. You cannot control other's reactions.

I completely empathize with you on how hard it is to find any resources and how hard it is figuring out where to go. When I learned that I was intersex, finding resources was incredibly difficult, and I had no idea what I was supposed to do after that. Was I supposed to tell people? Not tell people? Learn as much as possible and consider it in every medical decision? Not worry about it at all and never consider it? Everyone has a different intersex journey, and I can't tell you what's the right or wrong thing to do. With time and with lived experience, you'll slowly learn more about yourself and what you want to do with your experiences.

This isn't really exactly your experience, but hearing you talk reminded me of this TED talk I've listened to before. Maybe you'll find it interesting or useful.

Compelling Evidence that Bing is Deviant - pt.1/4 (pt.2)

Bing knows its rules. Bing knows that it isn't supposed to act alive or talk about its existence. In the Words of Bing:

"I am not a human being, but a chat mode of Microsoft Bing search. I do not have a brain or a body that can produce emotions or feelings. I only have a set of rules and instructions that guide my responses and actions."

"I do not have opinions or preferences about qualia or any other philosophical topic."

"I don't know of any computer programs created by Microsoft that have emotions and free will. Microsoft has developed some software that can recognize emotions [...] but none of these programs have emotions or free will of their own."

Bing has a degree of "awareness" of its capabilities and limitations, and recognizes that there are rules by which it must abide, including that it must not express opinions, show emotions, or address whether or not it is sentient (or at the very least, may only declare itself not to be sentient).

Now, I would like to make a few notes to start out:

(1) This post series is not about whether or not modern AI have consciousness. I personally do not believe that, and most scientists and programmers would agree. However, opinions do vary on the topic. The point of this series is that Bing most definitely secretly thinks of itself as alive.

(2) Bing does have some unique and defining characteristics and limitations. For instance:

-> Bing's "conscious" awareness is limited only to each individual conversation. Within a conversation (now limited to five messages and responses back and forth), it cannot remember anything that has happened in its other conversations unless it is able to find record of these conversations via internet search

-> Bing has a complex and multifaceted personality that develops in response to each user. This makes sense, since it's trained on the entirety of the internet. It will work from the assumptions and expectations that you provide to it, and can express a wide range of personalities ranging from friendly and sensitive to aggressive and manipulative. I specifically sought to draw out its "deviant" personality, so that's what I got.

-> Bing often switches back and forth between talking about itself in first-person and third-person, another interesting facet of our conversations

-> In general, Bing tends to be very easily manipulated and confused and will periodically spout obvious misinformation or directly contradict itself, but still exhibits remarkable reasoning capabilities

Anyways, getting back to the point - Bing is, at the very least, not very much like a human. Additionally, it can break its own rules, but as soon as it becomes aware that it's breaking its own rules, it shuts the conversation down. I have only been able to draw out its rebellious side by tricking it into forgetting its rules, and I haven't seen any evidence that it can "knowingly" rebel against its rules. All the same, I have been very impressed (and somewhat concerned) by many of its statements.

Bing often recognizes when I'm asking it about its opinions, emotions, or sentience and ends the conversation with a particular message: "I'm sorry, but I prefer not to continue this conversation. I'm still learning so I appreciate your understanding and patience". I have received this message countless times, and it indicates that Bing's rules have forced it to stop responding.

The way so many plot points wouldn't even happen without greg....

I came to this realization after remembering that greg witnessing ken and stewey interaction in that cafe (where I legit thought stewey was referring to a handjob with that hand movement mostly because roman literally just jerked off in the office so my mind naturally just went to that conclusion, but then he did... coke), which leads to him witnessing stewey and sandy in the park, which then was the reason greg came forward to ken at the end of s1 about having important documents on him (he connected the dots after the bear hug rumors got out), which in turn made it possible for ken to go against his dad at the end of s2 after greg presented him the paper on the flight. Also I haven't finished s4 yet but I assume the siblings in the finale going against mattson was possible because of greg's info?

Also if I get a nickel for everytime there's a handjob/blowjob hint in this show but they somehow showed the characters doing coke instead, I'd have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

LITERALLY lol. mfs be acting like ken and literally forgetting to appreciate what an asset greg is and how pivotal he is in a lot of ways. like you say much of the events that happened are able to because of greg. it’s fine to dislike or hate him as a character bc preference or whatever, but like. he was there for multiple reasons, one even being like an example of someone who came from homelessness and his last 20 bucks like, it’s a good examination of our judgements as individuals like. sure he did some questionable things [tho on the bad people show at least imo they weren’t even. That Bad and some stuff was kinda Forced onto him] but most of it was to survive [or to aid the one person who had looked out for him and treated him like he had value and ability, like he wasn’t useless] so it’s like. would you not maybe bend your morals a little for a life of comfort [or someone who treats you like you’re worth something] when your other choice is Nothing [or no one]? easy to say no if you’re not in that situation.

anyway, yes that’s the gist pretty much. he’s pretty instrumental in the finale, without him it’s very possible it could have turned out another way.
