The Origins of the Beasts & The Soul Jam

Timeline Post

"In the distant past... when the chaos of Iron and Flame still reigned, five cookies were baked by the witches. Radiant beings, graced with wisdom and power unparalleled. The five were destined to reshape the tempestuous world and usher in an era of peace, prosperity, and enlightenment for all."

The Beast Cookies are cookies who were baked by the witches in order to keep prosperity in the cookie world, using the five virtues that they were baked with: Knowledge, Volition, Solidarity, Change, and Happiness. While many cookies think that these cookes only wielded the Soul Jam, these cookies were actually baked to be the Soul Jam. The Soul Jam comes later on this tale, but the Soul Jam comes from the cookie's soul. That's why it's called Soul Jam.

These virtues reigned for many years, keeping the cookie world at peace. But as time went on, each virtue slowly became corrupted. The Fount of Knowledge became corrupted into the beast of Deceit, Shadow Milk Cookie. Volition became apathy, and I'd now the beast we know as Mystic Flour Cookie. Solidarity became Silenece, and is now the beast we know as Silent Salt Cookie. The Herald of Change became the Beast of destruction we know as Burning Spice Cookie. Happiness became sloth, and the beast we know as Eternal Sugar Cookie.

The witches couldn't bare to see the corruption and destruction their creations had done. Using their sacred forks, they trapped the beasts, and sealed them away in the Continent of Beast-Yeast, where the Faerie that we know as Elder Faerie Cookie (though, his name at the time was Oak Faerie Cookie), to guard the tree that the beasts had been sealed in.

The witches then took the power from their soul and scattered it all across the world, which is what created the Soul Jams. The Soul Jams took new on new Virtues, though. Knowledge became truth. Volition became resolution. Solidarity became freedom. Change became abundance, and Happiness became Passion. The witches hoped that new cookies would find these crystalized forms of power and be able to resist the corrupt temptation that such power brought.

While that time would come, we are not yet at that part of the timeline.

"Oh.. and do I have a story for you! A grand epic of the very sun itself falling just like the moon!" Even in his truly solid, no longer ghostly form.. he floated above the ground. Listlessly floating around Burning Spice with that ever present, wild smile upon his face.

"This was a tale in works since even long after we've been sealed my friend! Strings wound around poor.. poor Pure Vanilla Cookie since he was but a mere boy among sheep!" He seemed even more boisterous now with his own new body.

Full of energy, unrestrained as a swirl of magic left his hands. Weaving into new forms.. showing flashes of Pure Vanilla Cookie and mirrors showing him his life was a LIE!

"And now... ohhh... he tried to lie to himself. to live in that sweet, sweet little lie.. But then he realized the truth!" The mirror shattered in a glorious display.

"That he was doing everything that I wanted to, following in my foot steps.. becoming ME. He's MINE! AHAHAHA!" He cackled, rolling in the air with his hands around his gut.

"And now? Well.. I certainly MUST introduce you! He even beat back that annoying little brave cookie and his friends! Ahh.. if only the other 'thieves' fell in line just like he did..." He sighed out wistfully.

"OH but enough about ME! I could talk for ages on that one.. Plus the grand performance isn't even done. It's become a DUET!" He giggled.

"What have YOOOUUU been up to?" He poked the massive best in his chest.

"The Reunion"

A clatter and a clang echoed as the sun slowly sets on the horizion.

A small cookie falls flat on his back, and his weapon clatters on to the floor a few feet in front of a hulking shadow, glowing red eyes peered through the shadows they finally kicked the weapon towards the young cookie.

"Is that all you got, Skyline cookie? Pick it up, and do it again!" His deep voice growled down at him, he stepped forward, revealing himself into the dying light, his parashu hummed eagerly, desiring the taste of clashing blades and jamshed.

The young cookie shifted slightly and slowly began to get himself up, he was word down and obviously exhausted.

"What's the matter? Oh, don't tell me you are giving up already!?"

"I've not given up. I was just buying my time..."

"!!!"

Without a moments notice, skyline had listed his hand upward. pillars of rock crystals formed and shot up from the ground, completely surrounding Burning spice, he looked a little surprised, the kid was learning these tricks from someone..

"HA! I got you! Mom taught me that one! Cool, right?"

His mother... Candy Eye Cookie...

"Hahaha.... HAHAHAHA!"

So she HAS been teaching him some of her techniques... Perhaps she is finally turning a new leaf after all! He couldn't be more proud!

"Yess! Very good!"

He lifted up his other hand and summoned a second parashu, and with a few good hard swings, he shattered the candy crystal barrier in to small shards, skyline watched agape and in awe as he effortlessly broke through his crystal barrier! What a beast...

"Your training with Nutmeg Tiger cookie has also helped you improve in battle! I am most pleased with your progress, Skyline Cookie!"

Skyline was smiling back at Burning Spice Cookie, obviously proud of himself, but his expression shifted, as he tilted his head slightly, he caught a glimpse of another cookie running up from behind Burning Spice Cookie.

"What are you staring at me like that boy? Speak!"

"Umm, there's another cookie coming towards us!"

"I wonder how he got here?"

As the little blue cookie spoke, Burning Spice cookie slowly turned around, looking down at the little shepherd...

His expression shifted as he took notice of the odd feeling and similarities. now shaking off the adrenaline of battle, it has become much more clear who this might be... But- he'd play along, just in case.

"And who might you be, little cookie?" He growled low "You lost your flock, did you?"

"Give me one good reason why I should be so inclined in to believing you? A foolish boy who loses his flock, does not deserve to keep it, does he not?"

Light Reading

Oh, you caught me in the middle of something.

Sorry. I was reading. It's been a bit bland since he left. I'm waiting for him here now. We agreed on it.

What am I reading? Magic studies. I'm not too good at magic.

Huh. You think I am? Thank you. I try to be.

I'm afraid I do not wish to talk about him. How about you find yourself a good book to get lost in? There's a wide selection. I'm sure at least one will get your attention.

Books are like little worlds waiting to be visited. Reading them is like travelling to the realm that opens before you, starting with that first sentence. That first word even. It's why I enjoy them so much. When I cannot travel myself, I travel through writing.

Sometimes I read to him. He can't read english too well. His knowledge is mostly around the spice's history and scripts. He gets happy when I ask him to tell me what he knows.

He looks nice when he talks about things he likes.

It's funny to me. A great god of desert civilisation, head over heels to talk about the times he helped the spice villages, or tended to the springs when no one was around.

Sometimes I imagine what else he could be so passionate about. How would he talk about his favourite story? A favourite cookie to be around? How would he talk about me to others? I know he has a positive view on me. We've had a couple of... situations.

Perhaps I'll be able to ask him what he did when he returns. It would be nice to talk to him again. I don't know how long he'll be gone. I'll be fine on my own for a while, I'm sure. It'll be alright.

Me, the books, this library, and the peace and quiet.

I am sure it will be okay. There is nothing to worry about.
