Okay, Just Hear Me Out-
So way back when in like Episode 27 or something, Shin-Ae and Yeong-Gi take Kousuke to a fast food restaurant.
And he’s all uncomfortable about the grease and stuff.
And Yeong-Gi tells Shin-Ae to stop bothering Kousuke because he will never eat the burger.
And Then, He jUST
Tumblr media
Kousuke who has never eaten fast food!
Kousuke who was complaining about diabetes!
Kousuke who was looking for silverware!
Just ate a greasy burger with his hands!
And Yeong-Gi’s response is-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He Gives A Little Smile!
At this moment, maybe, Yeong-Gi thinks Kousuke is slowly changing. And things will get better, finally.

7 Deadly Sins ~ Tag Game!
If you get tagged, answer these questions and then tag 7 of your friends to do it too! Have fun~
I got this from @icebluekitten :)
Gluttony:
1. If you were on death row, what would your last meal be? - lots of stuff. would definately include burgers, pizza w lots of meat and olives on it, salmon sushi, mozzarella sticks, fish and chips, kalamari, hummus with grilled pita bread to dip in it, cherry pie with lots of custard, jam roly poly w custard, chocolate fudge cake, and anything w salted caramel on/in it
2. Are you a hoarder, if so what do you hoard? - i chat-hoard. basically that means when smth funny or heartwarming happens in my messages, i tend to screencap that shit and put it into a folder. i’m a sentimental p.o.s like that :3 (also i get way too proud of my own fucking jokes sometimes)
3. Do you collect anything and if so, what would that be? - i kind collect monster high dolls?? i only get them as gifts but they’re so aes and adorable. i would like to collect crystals too but i have no money
4. The top five biggest holidays are New Years’ Eve/Day, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas, what is your ranking of these holidays from most favorite to least favorite? - I like them all, it’s hard to rank them. But I guess it’s Christmas, Halloween, Easter, New Years and Valentine’s Day
5. What is your favorite type of candy? - salted caramel, chocolate (milk, white and dark), and also gummy sweets (mainly strawberry/raspberry/cherry flavours)
6. What are your top three favorite restaurants? - Frankie & Bennys, Nando’s and this tapas place in Manchester I forgot the name of but it’s on Deansgate. I had to put a cheeky Nando’s in there ofc, i’m British
7. What are four foods of personal significance to you and why? - salted caramel bc it’s so good it makes me cry, sweet cherries bc the same reason, my nan’s Christmas dinner bc it’s amazing and lovely just like she is, and also my mum’s cakes on the rare occasions she bakes
Lust:
1. Have you ever watched porn and/or read smut? - yes, obviously. i’m basically walking sin.
2. Are you more attracted to physical traits or personality traits? - I need both to be fully attracted to someone, although I do experience purely physical attraction from time to time. So I guess I kinda lean toward the first option. I’m a shallow hoe, I know
3. What are your top five favorite color combinations? - black and red, black and pink, pink and cyan/turquoise, rose gold and pastel pink, purple and black
4. Are you a virgin, if not then how would you like to lose your virginity and if so, do you regret the way you lost your virginity? - No I’m not, and my first time was shite. That’s all I’m gonna divulge here.
5. How do feel about gay marriage and the LGBT community in general? - 100% support it, and get the fuck away from me if you don’t. This shit right here is basic human rights lmao

6. If you were to have a family of your own in the future, what kind of family and lifestyle would you want? - the idea is occasionally nice, but then I remember how little patience I have for screaming, pooping, always-in-your-way kids. They can’t help it, but that’s exactly why I prefer to completely avoid anyone under 13 if I can help it (and even most 13-14yo’s annoy me tbh). Also I can’t even look after myself and I have a really short temper, I would be a shitty mother. So no, I don’t plan on having children. Ever.
7. What would an ideal date be like for you? - Food (ofc),
Greed:
1. What’s your birthstone and do you have any jewelry/objects with your birthstone on it? - Peridot :) I have a pair of earrings and also a necklace w a teddy bear pendant and his belly is a peridot. I love peridots and I wish i could find that necklace <3
2. What kinds of things do you usually put on your Christmas and birthday lists? - money... really tho I don’t usually know. Unless there’s a new video game I really want, or some clothes or smth like that I see near those times and ask to have as a gift.
3. If you were to get a tattoo, what would you want to be on your body forever? - I already have 2 (a heart tattoo by my left shoulder i share w my mum and a virgo symbol on my left wrist). I want to get more but idk what exactly rn. I’m more into small, minimalist tattoos for myself tho, like symbols and shit. Maybe a mercury symbol or smth.
5. Have you been on all forms of transport as in horse, car, plane (big, small, helicopter), train and boat? - i’ve been in cars (obvs), planes, trains, i’ve been in a boat a few times, i rode a horse once when I was like 5, and I’ve never been in a helicopter.

6. What did you want to be when you were a kid and have your career ambitions changed since then? - I wanted to be an actress for the longest time, but then I realised that I really cannot act for shit. So then I wanted to go into medicine but i’m not clever enough for all that science studies beforehand. Rn I would like to go into smth psychology and/or sociology related

7. Where do you get most of your clothes? - primark tbh
Pride:
1. If you wear makeup, what kinds of products do you usually wear and why do choose to wear makeup? If you don’t wear makeup, what’s your opinion on those who do choose to wear it? -  I wear makeup occasionally, but I’m usually too lazy to and plus I’m crap at it. It takes me like 30 mins to do minimal makeup bc I’m such a perfectionist. I don’t judge people for wearing makeup tho, unless it looks like shit. So many people never heard of blending or not making your eyebrows look like you’ve done them w sharpies. And I hate those instagram brows too tbh. Natural look all the way for me when it comes to brows. Yeah brows are the main annoyance for me w other people’s makeup.
2. What’s your personal fashion sense/style? - whatever is comfy, I can afford and fits my fat ass (so not much choice really)
3. Do you follow clothing trends and if so, what are a few of your favorites? - I wear what I want. I guess I’m somewhere between grunge and goth/emo tho when i make an effort ???
5. What are your religious beliefs and are they the same as the rest of your family or your parents and speaking of that, what’s your opinion on organized religion in general? - I’m agnostic. I come from a family that isn’t super religious but my grandparents are Christian. However they don’t go to church and they don’t really fit into a denomination (Anglican maybe??). They pray and stuff tho. My mum never raised me religiously and I’m honestly unsure about her beliefs. From what little I know she has an interest in Judaism (a couple generations back from her my family was Jewish) but she’s not practising any religion and idek if she believes in God.
6. What’s your body type/skin tone and does your body type/skin tone make finding clothes that fit difficult or does it make finding the right shades of makeup difficult? - I’m overweight af due to some medications I used to take and hormonal issues, but I’m starting to lose some weight. However it’s hard for me to find clothes that fit without making me look like a tent or being not loose enough my stomach and making it obvious (which I hate to the point where it makes me suicidal looking at it sometimes). In terms of skin tho I’m neutral tone so most colours suit me.

7. What are ten of your favorite female names and ten of your favorite male names? - I’ve never really made a list but I do like the male names Dietrich and Berthold (I love male old fashioned Germanic names in general tbh). As for female names I can’t think of any rn but i guess Germanic names ?? and also nature-related names
Wrath:

1. Do you have any unpopular opinions and if so, what are they?
 - I probably have a lot. I guess one is that hardcore sjws and anti-sjws are as bad as each other, y’all are both cringy af and need to get educated before you speak. Also I don’t like GoT, or Stranger Things, or Star Wars, or most mainstream stuff I see everyone posting about on here tbh. Yeah, I guess there’s a reason they called me a hipster in high school.
2. When you die, how do you want your mortal remains to be dealt with? - idfk dude

3. Do you hold grudges, why or why not? - yeah, sometimes I find it hard to forgive shit. Sometimes it’s warranted tho

4. What do you want to happen to your worst enemies? - I like to think that I’m above wishing them slow, painful deaths but I’m not so (:
6. If you died right now, what song(s) would you want played at your funeral? - welcome to my mine
7. What’s your opinion on the death penalty? - for rapists, child molesters and serial killers/premediated murders, yes. Should only be for the most severe crimes tho, that’s what I’ve listed.
Envy:
1. What’s the climate of your local area like and do you like it? - all over the fucking place and it’s annoying
2. Do you get lost easily? - sometimes

3. If you could participate in the Olympics, what sport(s) would you compete in? - none bc I hate sports and I’m shit at them too

4. What’s your ranking of the seasons from most favorite to least favorite? - Spring, Autumn, Summer, Winter

5. What’s your dream car? - idk, smth that’s aes af like a lambo or smth

6. Are you skilled with technology? - not really

7. What are four of your favorite patterns? - I like paisley and also floral patterns. Also minimalistic line patterns
Sloth:
1. What are your favorite and least favorite tropes in fiction? - I tend to like romantic cliches, gimme that cute shit. Not so much into super predictable cliche storylines tho. Idk more in detail than that.
2. When do you usually wake up and when do you usually go to bed? - wake up anywhere between 9am and 2pm, sleep any time between midnight and 4am
3. What TV shows and movies did you frequently watch when you were a kid? - tweenies, teletubbies, mean girls, top gear, the barbie vhs films, bob the builder, another film i forgot the fucking name of

4. What’s your favorite era of music? - anywhere between 1980 and 2010 tbh
5. What do you usually watch on Youtube? - random shitposts and memes, nostalgia critic, memeulous, willne, pyrocynical, avgn, ashens, gordon ramsay shit, more random meme videos, linguistics related shit, sometimes documentaries (usually british crime/killer docs or disaster docs like air crash investigation)

6. What are ten songs that are of personal significance to you and why? - The Chauffeur bc it’s my favourite song, can’t think of any more rn

7. What’s your top three favorite video games? - The Sims (all of them tbh), Minecraft and GTA V, pretty much the only games I play anymore
I don’t tag anyone but you can if you want to :)

Be a legend. Sortof.
McDonald’s goes big on kayak season.
McDonald’s UK has launched a campaign for its Chicken Legend range that positions the quality chicken burger as a reward that we all need and deserve sometimes.
Created by Leo Burnett London, the spot broke on Monday 14th August and shows a one-man kayaker about to begin a white-water rapids course. Just as he is about to begin the race he adjusts his glove and accidentally drops his paddle. This causes him to inadvertently spin round so he starts the course backwards.
However, despite this, he still manages to successfully navigate the gates backwards and finishes the race, thereby turning his misfortune into a triumph. He later rewards this legendary performance with a Chicken Legend in a McDonald’s restaurant.

september: week three
11: i was dead tired in the morning. it took me a while to get up. i had english muffin with the ikea marmalade for breakfast and 4 potstickers lol. the marmalade tastes too artificial :( then i made tea and got to work. it was hard to motivate myself but when i did, ux360 wasn’t working for some reason. so then i switched gears and decided to record another video -- well, rerecord because of updates. it was an interesting day today working in the den with kevin. kevin wfh too because he had a doctor’s appointment and he was tired af. i watched some youtube videos and hopped on stand up. it doesn’t feel like we’re acquired yet and it’s weird lol. i did some internet errands and picked up my partial ae package: got a sports bra and hillary sent me a birthday gift of supergas <33333 ahhhh. i’m in love. thank you so much, bae!!! i get her white shoes for her birthday, she gets me white shoes for mine hahaha. <3 the maintenance guy came in to get a piece of plastic?! out of the garbage disposal, fix the loose ass toilet seat, fix the jank door lock, and etc. he is amazing! the previous tenants however, idk if i would have liked them. .__.
kevin went to kam man to get a rice box for us to share for lunch. then i watched some more youtube videos and worked when kevin left to go to his doctor’s appointment. kevin’s rotater cuff is swollen and his doctor just gave him physical therapy exercises -- he didn’t even make him go to a therapist :O what a lucky guy ahha. we worked a bit more and then meal planned and went back to kam man to get groceries, drove to bj’s to use our coupons and get meat and rice, and then got back home and put away all the groceries. kevin made fried rice for dinner while i did a quick 20 minute hip hop cardio workout. then we ate dinner while watching two episodes of agents of shield; we’re now on the season three finale! kevin went to play overwatch and i did a 20 minute pylo workout and then 20 minutes of hip hop cardio again. my quads got super itchy after because the past two days i haven’t been doing intense cardio workouts the past two days because of moving. lol ugh, my muscles. i showered and then got ready for bed. i stretched before sleeping (it was easier after the shower) and then ko’d at around 12 am.
12: i was tired when i woke up but excited to go to the yoga studio to exercise! i woke up 10 minute earlier or so to walk over and prepare myself for working out there. no one was in the fitness center or the yoga studio and i took the 5 lb weights into the yoga studio but realized there were some in there already :O so that means i don’t need to bring weights in all the time! i did lower abs and one 10 minute weighted abs section. working out in the studio wasn’t too bad. i just have to bring a hoodie or shirt so i don’t look too scandy walking to and out ahah. i made tea with benefiber and then showered and ate english muffin with creamy pb and bananas. i think this creamy peanut butter will be better in smoothies... i might do smoothies for breakfast now. i changed and then caught the 8:55 am train. i got to work at 9:30 am and i kinda tripped on my way to the office and my headphones flew off my head and into my hands LOOOL. awk.
i realized i was the only one in the product office today and only cait and raj were in too. i went to work and took breaks to read manga and then recorded a video tutorial and then hopped on the all-hands while eating lunch. then dave came into the office and had calls the rest of the afternoon. i had a part i needed to record so i asked him for his key to a separate office. the key wouldn’t work so i went to the 8th floor and got a copy and that one worked, finallly. then i set up the monitor only to find out it wouldn’t work so i looked on the back and found charles’ initials on the sticker and slacked him. he told me he had trouble connecting to it so he got another monitor. i tried unplugging the power but it still wouldn’t work. so i gave up and went back to my desk and then plugged my laptop into the monitor only to find out it didn’t work anymore! i had to do a SMC reset and then everything worked again so i went back into the other office to try it out and it finally worked!
the sad part is that i tried recording and i got all the background noise of the people around me because of the glass walls -___-” so i rq’d for the rest of the day and just edited the parts that i had and planned out what the training page would look like. oh. riceburg was serving food today so i got a bulgogi rice burger for me and kevin to try. i ate like 1/3 and gave the rest to him when i met up with him at the train station after work. we took the train home and watched an episode of agents of shield and then kevin went to cook while i went to work out in the yoga studio. i did weighted oblique exercises and then stretched. this other lady came in and was breathing intensely and doing some intense? reverse crunches while holding on to the bottom handles of a cycling bike. then i went back and cut potatoes and showered while kevin finished up the curry. we forgot to make rice so i made it before showering and then kevin went to go do his pt exercises and some running. i ate dinner while watching youtube videos and then i bursted out crying and laughing at this one video about a wish haul LOL. kevin thought i was going crazy.
it was too late to game so i just watched videos and kevin ate dinner while watching videos online too. i brushed my teeth, stretched, and went to sleep at around 12 am and kevin gamed until...probably late because he is working from home tomorrow.
13: i got out of bed at 7:20 am and then went straight to the yoga studio to workout. i did a hiit leg workout and then rushed back to make tea with benefiber and prepare breakfast. i showered and then put on nice clothes to meet the ceo and then curled my oily af hair. i ate breakfast and drank my tea and packed my lunch and said goodbye to kevin and caught the 8:50 am train. i left on time and got to the office at 9:15 am. then i learned that we wouldn’t be seeing the ceo until 1 pm... meh. i said hi to everyone. sultan and steve came in and i went straight to work. then at 12 pm, i went lunch hunting with the devs. we didn’t know where we were going and we ended up going to a restaurant in chinatown. next time we will call in to gourmet dumpling house. we spent a good 40 minutes or so looking for lunch and finally getting it and getting back. i thought i had to get back by 1 pm but i guess not?
i ate lunch with steve and cole in their office and then went back to do some work. instead, i talked with sultan about renting, properties, etc. then i went to get tea and ended up talking with cole and steve for a good while. we talked about food and also the movie, “it”, which i am interesting in watching now. they’re fun to be around (: then i left to get my work done for the day and then met the ceo when he walked around to the offices. kevin sent me messages throughout the day telling me to come home early but i couldn’t because my stand up kept getting pushed back further into the work day :( i got on a real quick stand up with the team and then packed up, said goodbye to everyone, and walked to the station with cole and steve. steve ran for the braintree train and i wasn’t going to until cole couldn’t get through because he didn’t put enough money on his charliecard. i made it and got a seat on the train after a few stops :O
kevin was running when i got home so i stopped by the fitness center to say hi. i was hungry so i ate the leftover half apple i had in the fridge with peannut butter and the mango slice kevin saved for me yesterday. then kevin came back and i felt ready to do my weighted butt workout. i went into the fitness center instead because i needed a heavy chair to do bulgarian split lunges. i was following a video and the lady was doing sumo squats with a 65 lb dumbbell... i touched the 30 lb one and i was like NOPEEE. instead, i did 25 lbs and the squats and deadlifts burned. then i switched over to two 7.5 lb weights to do everything else. my legs were shaking and my heart rate spiked! a change in weight really does get the heart pumping. i came back and showered and then watched two episodes of agents of shield with kevin. recently, kevin has been gaming a lot more on his computer and not with me and i feel like he’s been disengaged when we’re watching agents of shield so i felt like our quality time hasn’t been quality. i guess he didn’t feel the same because we had a small argument and he went to game again.
i spent the evening chatting with daniel and watching youtube videos. then i prepared everything for tomorrow, brushed my teeth, and did a good amount of stretching before falling asleep pretty early like at 11 pm. i didn’t feel like reconciling with him because he was busy gaming. :/
14: i woke up before my alarm that was set to ring at 7:15 am. i eventually got up and went to the yoga studio to do my cardio kickboxing workout. my legs and butt were so sore from yesterday’s workout... i could only squat so low LOL. before working out, i made rice for lunch because we forgot to make more. when i got back, i showered, debated whether or not to go into work (ultimately, i did) and then packed lunches, changed, and ate a banana with some peanut butter. then i said bye to kevin and hopped on the train. i was the first one in the product office and looked through emails. dave came at around 10 am and he basically set the itinerary for today. i will be working on more wireframes :) which is good so i can work on them from home tomorrow. during lunch time, i ordered xiao long bao with the devs and they covered the cost with the tech time money because cole and steve weren’t here today :P they also asked me to pick it up while they were in tech time and i got to hold on to charles’ credit card >:D hehe. well, i ate my lunch from home and then watched a youtube video until it was time for me to get it. i walked over to gourmet dumpling house and picked up a heavy af bag and walked back.
i got an email requesting support but then the customer didn’t respond after so i just left my work phone on to see if she was going to call the rest of the day. then i ate my second lunch with the devs. john asked me what kind of chinese food i ate and i told him the traditional kind. he asked charles to order him something an american would like to eat and charles got him sesame chicken LOL. we got him to try a dumpling though. these dumplings are the best soup dumplings i have ever eaten. after, i raved to kevin about it and we decided to order more plus scallion pancakes for dinner. we were thinking of leaving work early and working from home but then i got slammed with work after lunch. it was a meeting after meeting after meeting sort of deal. there was a lot going on. so i stayed and when i had a chance, i ordered and then left the office at around 5:05 pm after talking with dave about work.
i actually got to south station quicker than i had anticipated and waited for kevin to get there. i ate some scallion pancake -- it was soooo good. we commuted home and then kevin and i talked about our argument and we both realized we were in the wrong. we apologized and then finished eating the food. kevin really liked the soup dumplings. we also got our tall step stool and our ottoman in the mail today! yay! i can’t wait for our ikea stuff to come in. then we chilled for a bit and worked out at the same time. he went running and i did weighted arms. i’m the most scared to lift heavy for arms because my arms are like toothpicks LOL. so i got a good workout but i think it could have been better. next time, i’ll lift heavier. we stretched and then went back and showered. then kevin ate real dinner and i just ate the rest of my banana with pb and some chips. i stayed up watching youtube videos and checking instagram (lol i traded in one social media addiction for another) and then clipped my nails and stretched before sleeping at 1 am.
speaking of instagram... i still don’t know how i feel about it. i’m less against it but it gets boring when you follow a small amount of people but then again, i don’t want to be bombarded with pictures of things i kind of like... there’s also the thing about posting and i’ve been wanting to post more but i’m a perfectionist when it comes to posting art, design, creative work and i start editing a photo and then never posting because it’s not what i want to post in the end LOL. maybe i’m being too picky. there’s also just a lot of things i want to do on instagram but i keep telling myself that there are barriers and etc. it’s all a mind game.
15: i slept in today because fridays are work from home days! (: i got up with kevin and then we brushed our teeth, i made myself breakfast, and he headed over to work. then i got to work and did some internet errands. it was a pretty chill work day. everything is winding up now so things will get busier in the next few weeks with training. i was able to watch 2 episodes of love connection and 2 episodes of masterchef. then i went to the yoga studio and did weighted oblique workouts. kevin stopped by to say hi and then went home to make dinner. i cooled down while kevin made the beef broth for korean dumpling rice cake soup mmm. he let the soup cook while he went out for his run. then i relaxed a bit and turned off the stove before i showered. the rest of the dish was basically done. kevin cut up some nori, beef, and scallions and i made poached eggs in the soup. he showered before we ate dinner and watched some agents of shield. then we stopped to play some castle crashers. i got unhappy at it so we switched to battleblock theater and then i got tired at 12 am or so and prepared for bed. kevin went to game and i think i pretty much ko’d. yay for the weekend!
16: i woke up super excited for ikea. we ate breakfast and then went straight to ikea after that. well, we waited a bit and then we went but then kevin was already hungry .___. we left at like 12 pm and ate at like 10 or 11 am. there were so many people at ikea today and it ruined our experience. plus, we knew what we wanted so everyone was pretty much in the way. we picked out chairs for the dining table, got a lamp for the dining area, got more mason jars (lol kevin), and then went upstairs to get some food. i got us a table while kevin waited like 30 minutes in line... it was so long and more people just kept coming. kevin got the pulled pork burger and swedish meatballs and i got swedish meatballs and the chocolate conspiracy cake -- i have been craving chocolate for the longest time. all the food was worth it. mmm. then we went to pick up the chairs. i had to walk back to get drawer organizers because we missed it the first time. we had a quick check out and then packed bb with all our stuff and drove home. we spent 3 hours there... haha. we stopped by bj’s to do some grocery shopping. i got silk cashew milk from there and contact solution. then kevin got back in time to skype with brittany and mike.
while he skyped, i did laundry and caught up on masterchef. then the rest of the evening was kind of a blur... i know i did a full body strength workout in the yoga studio then we ate leftover rice cake soup for dinner while watching agents of shield. oh, i think that is what we did. we ate and after, kevin just started building the chairs while i focused on the show or walked around the apartment. i know why the evening is blurry; we watched until 1 am and i just knocked out while cuddling with kevin. i ended up sleeping on him for like 30 minutes or so and then he left me to make the bed (i washed the sheets too). then i got up pretty awake and brushed and then got out our fall / winter blanket and then kevin helped put a cover over it and basically tucked me in before going off to play games lol. i think i went to sleep at 2 am because i went on my phone for a bit. it was a nice day spent with my bear (:
17: kevin and i were super productive today. i woke up before him and ate breakfast. then he woke up and we watched an episode of agents of shield while he ate then built another chair and then i cleaned the kitchen. then we meal planned and hit the gym together for an afternoon workout. i did multiple cardio videos because i kept getting bored. then we showered and went grocery shopping. we finished buying all of our groceries in under an hour :O we unpacked and then ate congee for lunch along with some chicken wings we got from roche and some scallion pancakes. i was stuffed. then kevin went to game for a bit and i accidentally fell asleep on the sofa for like 1-2 hours LOL. i woke up and then went straight to cleaning the bathroom. kevin finished gaming and then after cleaning, i went to workout again. kevin vacummed and cleaned while i did my ab workout and then i showered while he made dinner. we had a late dinner and were going to game with terence and ryan via online coop with our steam boxes but then they were eating too so we watched shield and then we gamed after. we played some silly games on battleblock theater and we crushed themmm but to be fair, kevin and i have a lot of experience and they just downloaded the game... i still feel good about winning! kevin and i played some overcooked after and then i got ready for bed. kevin stayed up to game for a bit and i went to sleep at like 12 am. zzzz.

How the Products on Your Table Made It
It is an incredible task and mission for restaurants, and food manufactures to deliver a product that EVERY single person on this world would love. A lot of our food preferences are learned as we grow and mature. We learn through our senses, what kinds of foods we enjoy and which we don’t. We are all variable, biased and finite as we can only have so many cups of coffee or even fries. Thus, it is hard for companies to use us as instruments of sensation to test the foods they are developing.
And because many of the foods we love are learned preferences, it was a brilliant idea for Mcdonalds to host kid’s birthday parties in the crowded play area of the sweet and salty smelling building. By doing this, Mcdonalds is teaching kids that its food is a comfort food full of happy memories. It is no surprise that many of us under stress will crave a Big Mac and some fries.  Not only was it brilliant of them to target the young population, it was smart of them to offer the food they offer. Taste is an innate sense. We are born loving sweet, umami and salty and avoiding sour and bitter.  Therefore, choosing to sell, fried salty french fries, sweet Mcflurrys and umami burgers made them the millionaires they ae today, unintentionally teaching us that we need Mcdonalds and dragging our health downhill. In an effort to make sure its products remained as loved as they are now, Mcdonalds also had to go on a search of what people loved and didn’t love to eat by asking the experts themselves- customers.
Despite humans not being the optimal instruments for sensation test, they are still the best tools to measure “good” we have. We use humans to tell us about the sensory attribute they sense, how intense they are, and have them tell us if they can tell differences about two similar products.  Humans can be trained or untrained to do all these in order to make food companies successful and their products the star of our diets.
We can use trained panelists to use flavor wheels to understand key ingredients and attributes in foods that people may love.  For example, Coke may want to know what attributes of Pepsi it is that consumers like. They could use the flavor wheel to try and formulate a soda that tastes closer to Pepsi or different if customers don’t like Pepsi better. A comparative multi-dimensional flavor analysis could also be used to identify similarities and differences and have proven to be extremely valuable because when trained people use it, they can tell us where different wines came from. Another incredibly attribute of humans that food industries may use to create desirable products is their ability to taste. Expert tasters are highly trained to learn to test high quality attributes of foods such as coffee and chocolate – an extremely unique and rare talent.
We can also use humans as instruments to measure quantitative data about food. For example, we can ask people to try diluted solutions of spiced foods or drinks and dilute by a factor of 10 until they could no longer detect the spiciness. Thus, we could measure the intensity of various peppers and spicy products and then target a particular population that we may know loves or does not love spicy.
Sometimes companies are interested in comparing their product to their competitors, where again, human subjects become the instruments to measure these differences. Trained or untrained subjects may be used and isolated from as much distractions as possible to taste differences in different foods. Different discriminative or difference tests may be used to do so. The triangle test could be used where the subject chooses one out of 3 similar samples to be different that the other two. The duo- trio taste could be used as well, where the subject is given a standard and they must choose which of two unknowns is the same or different than the standard.
Why would this information be so valuable? Food companies and restaurants are delivering a product that is the same to each one of their customers. People like familiarity because it is what they have trialed and errored already and recognize as safe. For example, often at airports, many travelers will prefer to buy Starbucks coffee as opposed to a foreign, local one for fear of upsetting their tummies. Thus, Starbucks must make sure that each and every batch of coffee they produce tastes as close as it can to every other batch. Thus, difference taste tests can be done to ensure that batches of coffee beans from different locations, transported differently or grown under different weather conditions taste as similar as they can.
New approaches done to study consumer preferences include, hedonics (asking subjects if they like a product or not), and asking our brain! Certain foods may light up our brains more than others because we like it, thus we can measure which foods we like more depending on how lit up our brain gets with different foods. So much money gets put into tests like these and so much attention is paid to what customers value about the food products delivered by these companies companies. All the work, money and time put in this is done to get the products you serve at your table to be that company’s creations for better or worse.

One of the closest things to an example of American culture in Pyongyang is the Green Leaf Coffee Shop — the top burger joint in the North Korean capital.
Across the road from the April 25 Culture House — named for the day the North’s founder Kim Il Sung set up anti-Japanese guerrilla forces — it overlooks the showpiece Ryomyong Street development his grandson and current leader Kim Jong Un opened in 2017.
The 1970s-style decor is predominantly brown, pictures of the Kimilsungia and Kimjongilia flowers named for the North’s rulers are on show, and footage of the State Merited Chorus plays on a television.
A basic beefburger costs slightly less than $2, while a cheeseburger with minced beef and bacon is around $4.
In a nod to local tastes, it also offers burgers with kimchi, and some with the bun replaced by two layers of rice, among other dishes.
The burgers come wrapped in paper on plastic trays, the chips in red cartons echoing McDonald’s, albeit served by uniformed waitresses.
But the isolated North has long seen the United States as its implacable enemy, blaming it for the division of the Korean peninsula, countless atrocities during the Korean War, and its economic struggles.
In the run-up to Kim Jong Un’s summit in Hanoi with US President Donald Trump, the nuclear-armed North’s official media barely mentioned the meeting.
The burger restaurant’s founders — it was set up by a Singaporean businessman, Patrick Soh, who operated a franchise of the US chain Waffletown in the Lion City — avoided American connotations.
They called it Samtaesong, which Soh translates as “three big stars”, and it has since been renamed again, with the menus now describing it as owned by the Sogwang High-Tech Corporation.
The clientele is mostly small family groups and young couples, and manager Kim Yong Ae says the 300 to 500 customers a week do not think of burgers as American.
“We brought it from Singapore’s Waffletown, so people know it just as hamburgers, a form of layered bread, rather than McDonald’s,” she told AFP.
“Some think of it as Singaporean food.”
Rictus of hate
North Korean authorities teach their citizens from birth to despise the US, with war museums depicting white soldiers slaughtering innocent civilians, their gnarled faces twisted into rictuses of hate.
One memorial site in Sinchon — where US forces are said to have massacred more than 35,000 people, although foreign researchers say the toll is unclear and there is no evidence of American culpability — features a “revenge-pledging place” where busloads of visitors can hurl abuse at the US.
“People are influenced in multiple ways by those narratives, even if not everyone buys it wholesale,” said Sokeel Park of Liberty In North Korea, which helps defectors travel from China to third countries.
“There are some alternative sources of narrative about the US,” he added.
Pyongyang closely controls all media in the country, but illicit content circulates on USB sticks, watched in secret by citizens who face criminal punishment for doing so.
Most of it is Korean-language rather than foreign, according to observers, but Park said some US films had entered the country — American music less so — and some people listened to Radio Free Asia and Voice of America broadcasts.
After the vitriol of 2017, when the two countries’ leaders traded personal insults and threats of war, the official KCNA news agency’s tone has adapted alongside the diplomatic drive, offering few overt criticisms of the US or Trump and instead reserving its bile for former colonial overlord Japan.
Pyongyang did nothing to shy away from covering the first summit in Singapore, portraying Kim and Trump meeting as equals.
And an about-turn in the relationship would not “cause the cognitive dissonance that many people expect it would”, according to Simon Cockerell, general manager of specialist travel agency Koryo Tours, who has been to the North 176 times over 17 years.
The North Koreans he has spoken to, Cockerell says, are “all pretty uniformly against the US government as you might expect”, but “have the nuance to not identify the entire US population as their enemy”.
And they were “mentally flexible and intelligent enough to understand and adapt to the message changing while still internalising the core belief: that the US is the enemy of the DPRK and will be until the most basic agreements are reached, then things may change!”
