2019 was the Giving Back Tour, so there hasn't been a proper con there since 2016. They used to allow alcohol and, that was before my time in fandom, but I've heard from multiple people that there were crazy drunken shenanigans that went on then.

I WILL say that I was initially really irritated by the new line of Cas merch but the profits are going 100% to LGBTQIA+ and homelessness charities, and I can get behind a message of "for love" in that specific, out-of-universe circumstance, even if I'm frustrated with how it got there. The real, material value of actionable funding is worth more than how I feel about it.

I really, really appreciated Misha's response at Burcon last year that Castiel is

"utterly non-judgmental of sexuality" in that he wants people to be able to project and see themselves in the character and not feel excluded by nailing it down with a specific label, and that sort of "I'm doing my own thing, I'll decide who I am" queerness resonates very strongly with me and means a lot when I have felt increasingly pressured to divulge personal, emotional details of my experience to strangers on demand on social media

so yeah the "he's gay now" crowd is, ugh.

I am infinitely heartbroken over how Jack and Sam would react and agreed with the above that there's virtually no hope of them being able to sit still with their grief; the Dean Show must go on, after all, and I'd bet money that Jack and Sam are next in line to be sacrificed upon Dean's altar

obviously he and sam both deserve to know but like.... i don’t know if i want jack to know what made cas happy enough to satisfy the deal with the empty. he already feels so inadequate and insecure because he thinks he’s never good enough and that dean is always better than him. it was enough to put him through that with sam. but with cas, the only person he had sincerely trusted to love him more? to learn that cas only “cares” about jack bc of his love for dean, not just bc of jack himself? i think it would have the potential to taint the memories jack had of cas and what little he has left of him

tbh thinking about what jack's reaction specifically would be... likE. given that the show literally had jack overhear just how much dean doesn't give a fuck about him and how he'll never think of jack as family yet jack was still willing to die for that asshole... i just feel like a stupidly realistic reaction from jack about how cas died would be #same. like, both of them were either willing to or did die for a man that is explicitly by his own admission never going to love them. gross. the absolute worst case of ~*~like father, like son~*~ ever.

but honestly??? i think the amount of time the show's gonna spend on cas's death in the next ep is, like, non-existent anyway. i mean, sam and jack would obvs have to find out about it but. as for the show going into the specific circumstances with them and allowing them any time to grieve and mourn and process everything? that ain't gonna happen. if the show focuses on anything related to cas's death at all, it's guaranteed that only dean's reaction will be the focus. because that's what always happens. because you're watching the dean show.

that being said, yeah, another reason why that scene was so fucking shitty and why it never should've happened because the only thing it served to do was completely character assassinate cas. and, like, it did so retroactively because it made his entire existence about dean. even though that's never been true. and in doing so it completely fucked over every other relationship in his life, too. and, like, if cas's life has revolved around any one person for the past few years, um, yeah. it's been jack. his son. cas literally admitted that himself, like, 3 fucking episodes ago. but now that's all for shit.

the show retroactively ruined cas's character and every other relationship in his life all for 5 seconds of embarrassingly transparent queerbaiting fanpandering nonsense in which cas having romantic feelings for dean still wasn't explicit yet was still explicit enough that everyone calling the show out on pulling "bury your gays" with cas is completely justified. good fucking job, show.

I wasn’t sure if you meant combined moments of the boys being protective and jealous or if you meant 5 of both so I did 5 of both!

First up protective moments

Protective!Jared:

1. Jared (and the cast) crashing Jensen and M’s panel. JIB8.

Jensen had been having a hard time emotionally during this day and he was struggling during this panel, so Jared had the cast crash the panel and give Jensen a big group hug.   

2. Jared standing up for Jensen to a rude fan. LACon 2011. 

Back in 2011, Jensen wasn’t attending East coast conventions, or at least the majority of them, but Jared was and a fan very rudely asked Jensen why he didn’t attend East coast conventions. While Jensen was trying to explain the difficulties of flying to a location to the East coast and back to Van in time to film, the fan interrupts him to say that Jared does it, at which point, after looking stunned for a second, Jared jumps in to defend Jensen and explain that they couldn’t attend cons that would risk delaying production. I don’t know of any gifs of it but you can watch the moment here: Jared defending Jensen. LACon 2011.

Back in 2013 a fan’s mom apparently had a FB page called “I blame Jared Padalecki for everything...good” thing is the fan left out the “good” part and even proceeded to ask Jared how it feels to be blamed for everything! It should come as a surprise to no one that Jensen was not okay with this at all and got noticeably pissed off.

2. Jensen crashing Jared’s supposed to be solo panel. JIB9.

I’ve talked about this so many times y’all are probably tired of it but honestly? I don’t give a fuck this moment was beautiful and sweet and you can pry it out of my cold, dead hands! Jared was supposed to have had a solo panel but he hadn’t been feeling very well he had said it in the j2 panel (which is when the moment in the first gif happened) as well as reportedly mentioning it during photo ops so when the time for his solo panel came, Jensen crashed the panel to distract and take care of his boy for a while along with Rob and Richard. 

3.  This hug from JIB7. 

Do I even need to say anything? Jensen’s protective expression, the way he pulls Jared in close, how Jared naturally tucks himself into Jensen’s arms, Jensen wearing an AKF shirt 😭

During the 2018 CW Upfronts Jensen shared that the year before the event had been so hot that Jared was sweating and then got anxious about sweating so much so he started sweating even more so he pulled him aside to cool down and when people tried to rush them he told them no because Jared needed to cool down.
