This is a very nice little documentary, especially if you’re a ska-rocksteady-reggae nerd like me.
There are interviews with lots of old reggae gods, several of whom are no longer with us five years later (Toots, Lee Perry, Bunny Lee).
Dandy Livingstone, aged 74, features throughout because he's so good to listen to. He has a beautiful speaking voice, is very composed and happy to share memories. At one point, he sits down at his keyboard and sings a bit of 'A Message to You, Rudy', and it's just wonderful.
There are dramatizations of Jamaicans in London in the 60s and 70s that are low key and not jarring or cringey like you might expect.
'If that shuffle not in the music, it's not reggae' - Bunny Lee

Today In History
Robert Nesta Marley was born on this date February 6, 1945 in Nine Miles, St. Ann, Jamaica.
Marley is one of the pioneers of reggae, his musical career was marked by fusing elements of reggae, ska, and rocksteady, as well as his distinctive vocal and songwriting style.
Marley and his friends Neville “Bunny” Livingston (Bunny Wailer), and Peter McIntosh (Peter Tosh) formed the Wailing Wailers. The Wailers’ big break came in 1972 when they landed a contract with Island Records. The result was the critically acclaimed “Catch a Fire.”
Marley went on to sell more than 20 million records throughout his career, making him an international superstar. His musical legacy continues through his family and longtime bandmates.
“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery; none but ourselves can free our minds.” - Bob Marley

Missing: Jack Walten
JACK WALTEN
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?
A series of images all of which are Jack Walten
Name: Jack Walten
Age: 42 Years Old
Height: 6'2
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Black
Last Seen: June 11th, 1974
Last Seen Wearing: Dark Red Suit
An image of Boozoo the ringmaster
Mr. Jack Walten, born September 23rd, 1932, was a hard working man and the happy father of 3.
Walten studied in "Cleary University" in Livingston County and graduated in 1959, on the same year he married Rosemary Peony Walten. He would later raise a family with Rosemary.
Mr. Walten became highly known on Brighton, MI. for his company "Bunny Smiles Incorporated" and his restaurant franchise "Bon's Burgers". However, he would mysteriously disappear 2 weeks before the opening of Bon's.
Little has been known about Jack's whereabouts for the past 4 decades, but there's still hope to get closure on this man's disappearance.
Most recent news about Walten's disappearance goes all the way back to the year 1979. Felix Kranken, company co-founder of Bunny Smiles would state the following in a radio interview.
"I still wonder about what happened to my best friend, to this day I get people asking how I've handled the situation, how I've managed to keep on with this company knowing that he's been gone for years. It's hard to look back at Jack, because... I know that those happy memories and experiences I had with Walten and his Family will never happen again. And he'll never get to see what our dream company turned out to be. But there's still hope, I guess"
-Felix A. Kranken, MLBQ FM Radio, March 29th, 1979
Please contact us in case of any sighting or clues as to what could've possibly happened to Mr. Walten
When this button is pressed it shows you a drawing of a person pieces of bon are ripped and placed on top. It is hard to tell where bon starts and the person (jack?) ends. The words did you forget about me written to the side of it.
In the most recent update the website looks like it had been corrupted the photo of jack is to the left there is text that says
???????????????????????????????????????????????????
I am here
Name:
Age:
Height:
Hair Color:
Eye Color:
Last Seen:
Last Seen Wearing:
They say that falling in love is wonderful
It's wonderful, so they say
And, with a moon up above, it's wonderful
It's wonderful, so they tell me
I can't recall who said it
I know I never read it
I only know they tell me that love is grand
And
The thing that's known as romance is wonderful, wonderful
In every way, so they say
To leave your house some morning
And, without any warning
You're stopping people, shouting that love is grand
And
To hold a girl in your arms is wonderful, wonderful
In every way
So they say
Note:These are lyrics from the song They say it's wonderful by Doris Day written for the musical Annie get your gun 1946.
Now when you press the contact button it shows a photo of a porcelain looking doll with very human looking eyes the image is cracked and since this update the website's name is: Help
Update: roughly january this year the main website was changed again.
I can see
I can feel
I can love
(That is all That is on the page)
Personal thoughts:
Starting from the top and making my way down I re-read what I compiled. During this process I realize that Jack is last seen wearing a dark red suit, one I believe looks a lot like the one boozoo the ringmaster wears. Now people probably already made this connection but doesn't it seem awfully convenient that boozoo’s picture is in his missing poster? Jack came up with the idea for the bon’s burgers franchise making him a ringmaster of sorts as he ran the place like a ringmaster a circus. Wouldn't it just be ironic that he gets stuffed into boozoo who shares the same job as him? Why else would his photo be on jacks missing poster?
Edit: I then realised the boozoo is already inhabited by charles and im just an idiot who conects all the wrong dots

WTNV quick rundown - 88 - Things Fall Apart
Featuring the voice of Maureen Johnson as (Ex)-Intern Maureen, Kate Jones as Michelle Nyugen, Emma Frankland as Emma Frankland as Sheriff Sam, Erica Livingston as Maggie Penebaker, Christoper Loar as Donald Penebaker and Dylan Marron as Carlos the Scientist.
[sound of phone ringing in earpiece] Citywide utility failures continue to haunt us, but not as much as the strangers who do not appear to move. Welcome to the Night Vale Public Utilities phone line.
Night Vale is experiencing city wide power outages, polluted water supplies and several gas leaks (hinted to be due to the Strangers in some way). Cecil is desperately trying to get through to NV Utilities Department but it's proving difficult due to the snippy attitude in Maggie Penebakers recorded lines (this is the first time she says her name, I believe, previously just being heard as the female voice on the phone line).
Carlos calls Cecil to see if he's alright and to ask him to come home, since he doesn't have power to run his show right now. Cecil says he has to do his job and find a way to report what is going on. Carlos wishes him good luck and to stay safe.
Apparently Maggie and Carlos are friends (or at least, she used to assist him in the lab) and she has a backup generator they can use.
Cecil calls Sheriff Sam to see if they know anything about the Strangers and to ask whether the Strangers are also targetting the previous citziens of Desert Bluffs. When Sam is derogatory towards the ex-DB citizens, Cecil stands up for them. Sam reports that some of the DB citizens have 'gone somewheere that feels more like home'. They also say that two sinkholes have opened up on route 800 and the dam along the NV lake (a dusty hole) broke.
Cecil calls Michelle to help him locate Maureen. Michelle reveals that Maureen is the leader of the army of strangers, and that Chad and his 'evil dog' are Maureen's boss. She also gives him Maureen's number. Michelle says that Maureen let her get up close to a Stranger. The Strangers can devour your soul, which starts a long and permenant process of transforming into a Stranger yourself. They only stand and breathe because they are in eternal torment and that's all they can do.
Maureen's phone goes straight to voicemail. Cecil leaves a message saying that he's proud of her and what's she's doing (and that he's finally worked out that it's former intern Chad Boenger behind this) but that he's worried he won't see Carlos again and didn't even say 'I love you' before hanging up when they last talked. He asks Maureen if he'll be able to see Carlos again, implying but not saying that he hopes she won't lead the Strangers to kill everyone.
Cecil gets a call from a Stranger, who of course only breathes slowly down the phone. A dog barks. The episode ends.
Weather: "Palestine" by Sam Baker, featuring Carrie Elkin.
Carlos called Cecil 'poot' and Cecil called Carlos 'bunny'.
There is a John Peter in NV who is a pharmacist. Cecil gets his prescription (whatever that is) from him.
Cards In Favour Of Humanity is a game in NV.
Michelle claims her previous monologue was 'private' but she also sent the tape in to Cecil with a label asking it to be played. She expresses her secret insecurities against this episode by questioning whether Cecil would think badly for her for actually liking something.
Proverb: Wanna feel old? People born in 2014 have already graduated college, don't know what a trombone is, are are all named after gourds.

A Foodie’s Guide to Victoria Falls: Best Dining Spots and Local Dishes
Victoria Falls is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty and thrilling adventure activities, but it is also a hidden gem for food lovers. With a rich culinary scene that showcases traditional Zimbabwean cuisine alongside international flavours, there is much to explore for those who appreciate good food. Whether you're indulging in local dishes or enjoying upscale dining experiences, Victoria Falls offers a variety of options that cater to all palates. Here’s a guide to some of the best dining spots and must-try local dishes that will elevate your visit to this magnificent destination.
Traditional Zimbabwean Cuisine
One of the best ways to experience the culture of Zimbabwe is through its food. A staple of Zimbabwean cuisine is sadza, a thick porridge made from maize meal, often served with various accompaniments such as greens, meat, or stew. The dish is versatile and forms the basis of many meals, making it a must-try for any visitor.
Bunny Chow is another beloved dish, originating from the Indian community in Zimbabwe. This dish features a hollowed-out loaf of bread filled with curry, offering a delightful blend of flavours and textures that represents the country's multicultural influences. For those seeking an authentic experience, look for local eateries that specialise in traditional fare.
Dining Spots to Discover
1. The Livingstone Room
Located within the luxurious Victoria Falls Hotel, The Livingstone Room offers an elegant dining experience with stunning views of the falls. The restaurant serves a fine dining menu featuring a mix of international and local dishes. Here, guests can indulge in a gourmet meal while overlooking the iconic waterfall, creating an unforgettable dining atmosphere. Signature dishes often include Zimbabwean game meat, giving diners the chance to taste the unique flavours of the region.
2. The Boma
The Boma is a must-visit for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in Zimbabwean culture while enjoying a vibrant dining experience. This lively restaurant features traditional entertainment, including drumming and dancing, creating an atmosphere that celebrates local heritage. The buffet-style dining allows guests to sample a variety of dishes, including grilled meats, local stews, and vegetarian options. Don't miss the opportunity to try the braai (barbecue) and smoked crocodile tail.
3. The Pure Africa Eatery
Set against the backdrop of the Zambezi River, The Pure Africa Eatery offers a unique blend of local and contemporary cuisine. Local Ingredients and Unique Flavors
What sets Zimbabwean cuisine apart is its use of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The region's fertile land produces a variety of fruits and vegetables, which play a significant role in traditional dishes. Pumpkin leaves, for instance, are often cooked with peanuts and served as a side dish, while mopane worms (edible caterpillars) are a delicacy that adventurous eaters should try.
For those interested in beverages, Zimbabwe is known for its local beer, such as Chibuku, a traditional sorghum beer that pairs perfectly with savoury dishes. Additionally, local wines and spirits, including Zambezi Lager, are popular choices for those wanting to enjoy a taste of Zimbabwe.
Culinary Experiences Beyond Dining
In addition to restaurants, Victoria Falls offers various culinary experiences for food enthusiasts. Cooking classes and local food tours are available, allowing visitors to learn about traditional Zimbabwean cooking methods and ingredients. These experiences provide a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and understand the significance of food in Zimbabwean life.
For an unforgettable dining experience, consider booking a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Many cruises offer a dining option that combines the stunning scenery with a delectable meal, featuring local ingredients and flavours. Dining under the stars while floating on the river is a truly magical experience.
Victoria Falls is a destination that delights the senses, and its culinary scene is no exception. With a variety of dining spots, unique local dishes, and immersive culinary experiences, there is much for food lovers to explore. Whether you are sampling traditional fare at The Pure Africa Eatery or enjoying fine dining at The Livingstone Room, your culinary journey in Victoria Falls will be an integral part of your experience. Embrace the flavours of this vibrant region and discover why it should be on every foodie's travel list.

Peter M. Tosh, OM born Winston Hubert McIntosh (October 19, 1944 – September 11, 1987) was a Jamaican reggae musician. Along with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer, he was one of the core members of the band The Wailers (1963–76), after which he established himself as a successful solo artist and a promoter of Rastafari.
He first learned guitar after watching a man in the country play a song that captivated him. He watched the man play the same song for half a day, memorizing everything his fingers were doing. He then picked up the guitar and played the song back to the man. As an aspiring musician, he went to vocal teacher Joe Higgs, who gave free music lessons to young people. Through his contact with Higgs, he met Robert Nesta Marley (Bob Marley) and Neville O’Reilly Livingston (Bunny Wailer). He changed his name to Peter Tosh and the trio started singing together in 1962. Higgs taught the trio to harmonize and while developing their music, they would often play on the street corners of Trenchtown. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence
