i truly love this fandom with all my heart.
but we must be critical of the things we love. the bon appetit test kitchen does not exist in a vacuum.
if you all truly love sohla, priya, and all the other poc who work there, then support them when they ask to be treated equally.
we owe it to them.

I've unfollowed BA on YouTube, something I haven't seen a lot of people suggesting. Any chance you could promote that?
absolutely. reading about this isn’t enough. take action.
unsubscribe from the magazine, unsubscribe from the youtube channel.
make sure the higher ups at bon appetit and conde nast know that their audience is not okay with this.

this is the anon talking abt specifically supporting black and brown chefs i lowkey forgot to put some in for u to boost but ivonne ajayi is a nigerian chef, cook like a jamaican is jamaican ofc, sweets and beyond is a rly good intro to puerto rican cooking. like i get that channels w black and latina women arent as big but they r the backbone of the entire restuarant industry and its deeply painful to see their perspective ignored even when u guys r supposed 2 b on their side u kno
thank you so much!

in the meantime - if you know any fun cooking channels run by poc, i’d love to watch them!
here’s a few:
of course, there’s maangchi, who we saw in chris’s video: https://www.youtube.com/user/Maangchi
i love hiroyuki terada, he makes incredible sushi videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/NoVeKitchenAndBar/videos
and a much smaller channel, elaine luo, who makes chinese (sichuan specifically) food: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCly-uUXFCjZ0fiO3or_jnQQ

ofc lifting up all food youtubers of color is important rn but maybe try 2 focus more on bipoc/latine creators, like as a puerto rican i feel like ppl rly sleep on caribbean dishes, whereas like lau said in his twitter thread theres a lot of focus on asian cuisine like only posting asian food youtubers isnt rly helpful to chefs of color as a group dude
i’m extremely sorry about that. you’re absolutely right. thank you.
i’m asian myself, and i had sought out asian chefs in the past to help with my own cooking. i did not think about this before posting my recommendations. this blog’s following is not very big and the previous submission was the only one i received, so again, i did not consider that they were all asian. that was my bad.
if you (or anyone else that reads this) have any suggestions for non-asian cooking channels/blogs/anything of that sort, even individual recipes that you enjoy? please please send them in.
again, thank you for this message. i’m sorry and i will do better.

For your post on cooking channels by POC, there's Erwan's Heussaff's channel. He's half-Filipino and he makes mostly Filipino dishes. There's also Just One Cookbook which is run by Nami, a Japanese woman. There's also the Cooking Tree channel, Marion's Kitchen, GabieKook, Chocolate Cacao, Pailin's Kitchen, Adam Liaw - which are all run by Asians. I enjoy watching their videos and have made some of the recipes, which are delicious.
thank you!!! i totally forgot about cooking tree - i absolutely love them!
i’ll be sure to check these lovely people out! ♥

Any time Chris throws a pen at the test kitchen ovens
maybe chris has figured out the secret to test kitchen apocalypse. it’s the pens

Not to say that Claire and Brad are useless without each other, but...oh, wait. That's exactly what I'm saying. (not exactly useless, though, just at 35-78% usefulness depending on the situation)
