Budai[a] is a nickname given to the Chinese monk Qici (Chinese: 契此) who is often identified with and venerated as Maitreya Buddha in Chan Buddhism. With the spread of Chan Buddhism, he also came to be venerated in Vietnam, Korea, and Japan.[2] He is said to have lived around the 10th century CE in the Wuyue kingdom.

Tumblr media Tumblr media

Buddha vs Budai
The historical Buddha is not known to have been fat. The chubby monk known as the "fat Buddha" or "laughing Buddha" in the West is a 10th-century Chinese Buddhist folk hero by the name of Budai.[161]

budai
melléknevek sorozat Ma a budaizásról lesz szó.
