Chris' Surfing Lessons
In “Ocean’s 9-1–1” Shannon talks to Eddie about surfing lessons. She’s hesitant about Eddie’s providing Chris with surfing lessons because of their expense.
Due to that, it's unlikely that Eddie or Shannon introduced the idea of surfing lessons to Chris.
More likely, Chris told Eddie that he wanted surfing lessons, and Eddie would do anything to make it possible for his son.
But where did Chris get the idea?
Buck spends a lot of time with Chris, and no doubt tells Chris many stories about his past -- including how he learned to surf at Virginia Beach after leaving home.
Chris, wanting to emulate Buck, wants to learn to surf.
Which is why Chris draws a surfboard between him and Buck on the card for Buck’s welcome back party after the bombing.
Then the skills Chris learned during his surfing lessons -- because even if Chris learned to swim in Texas, there was no waves and ocean current, which greatly changes a swimmer's expertise and abilities -- helped Chris stay alive when he was with Buck in the tsunami.
Through some six degrees of separation, Buck gave Chris the ability to survive the tsunami, along with saving him throughout that day.

No, but it's so important for buddie's development that Buck doesn't find Christopher. Eddie would never blame Buck anyway, but to force both of them into that moment where they think Christopher is gone is SO IMPORTANT. If Buck had found Christopher before Eddie found both of them, you lose the moment that's about Buck and Eddie and loss and with that you miss a key aspect there. If Buck already had Chris, Eddie would only know about it once everything was as fine as it could get, so it wouldn't test the strength of what they have going, same with if Buck never lost Chris to begin with. That moment where it feels like everything failed adds so much. Buck found a piece of himself with the tsunami and his relationship with Chris, but without losing Chris he wouldn't have found that piece of his relationship with Eddie. Both of them have a moment where for a minute they have to accept they lost their kid, and it was a natural disaster and Eddie dragged Buck out of bed and no one is really to blame because no one could've seen it coming and Buck is hurt and exhausted and only still standing because Chris is nowhere to be found and he needs to find this kid and he needs to somehow find the strength to tell his partner that he lost the person both of them love the most and Eddie doesn't blame Buck for a second. Buck is trying to say the words even though both of them know what it means that Buck is alone but the fact that they have that moment strengthens what they have. No one would've blamed Eddie if he reacted badly, Shannon died months before and for a minute he thinks Chris is dead too, but he doesn't. And after that it also shows how much faith he has on Buck because he takes all of that as proof that he's right to trust him because Buck will bleed himself dry for Chris and what else can he ask of anyone that steps into their life.

Hypothetically speaking, if you were part of the team who worked on "Wish" (or any other Disney animated films that you consider as bad), what are the major changes you would make?
Hey, this is my favorite question so far! 😀 I’ll make a post about it and tag you. But bare bones, for Wish?
Change the Main Idea of the Movie from “Keep wishing; you’re powerful enough to make it come true.” to “Have faith, and you’ll get more than what you wished for.”
Then, because the Main Idea’s been changed, every character needs to change so that they support the new main idea. 🤷‍♀️ (You should always make characters that support a main idea, instead of trying to wedge characters you “like” under main ideas they don’t actually support.)
Get rid of the idea of tangible wish-bubbles. Wishes are intangible, like fears and affection and a feeling of hope.
Tumblr media
Make the stars an otherworldly kingdom, where fairies and magic come from. (But keep it vague, so that it can still be associated with Neverland and Evangeline somewhere in the future.) What’s not vague is that the each star is a powerful being, but some are younger and less tested than others. The younger ones are messengers. The Kingdom of the Stars is ruled by the Council of the Stars; maybe the sun, the moon, something like that. The Kingdom of the Stars watches from above and chronicles the stories of mortals, and sometimes, when mankind needs it, they lend a magical hand that changes everything for the better.
Change the culture of Rosas to…an actual culture instead of a bunch of people standing around in a harbor castle. Make the whole kingdom a kingdom of inventors and explorers who used to have an alliance with the Kingdom of the Stars—their inventions would be magically blessed, and they’d be told where those inventions were needed most—but now they invent nothing and hide from the world and the stars because of a great betrayal and siege that destroyed their first home.
Change Magnifico so that he’s obsessed with keeping Rosas hidden and under control, because he believes their old ways, ( making inventions and the “meddling” of the Kingdom of the Stars) only brings attention from dangerous, greedy people. But on the outside, he hides his control-freakishness with a protective fatherly-like persona.
Change Amaya so that she agrees with some of Magnifico’s worldview: she thinks that their inventions will bring attention from dangerous, greedy people, but she doesn’t believe that the stars would meddle. She thinks they’re totally unhelpful and distant. She actually wants dangerous people to try and find them, so she can get her revenge—she’s been hoarding magical inventions and learning how to control them.
Change Asha’s whole family: her dad believed that the kingdom shouldn’t hide, then got sick and died. Her mom believes that even though the kingdom is in hiding, Asha would be happier if she found a way to do more than her current job. Her grandfather is basically a rebel and wants Rosas to go back to the way it was, and he’s always trying to get Asha to believe in the stars, or look at old inventions and spell books they’re not allowed to use anymore. Basically, the whole family wanted more for Asha than living in a hidden kingdom.
Change Asha: She’s not an adorkable, vaguely good shallow character. She’s more like if you took Rapunzel’s excitement about the world and buried that under layers of hopelessness after her dad died. Now she’s like the young teenage girl version of Nick Wilde from Zootopia. She no longer believes that her dreams can come true, or that the Kingdom of the Stars has any part in her life. That Rapunzel-excitement part of her is still there, deep down, and the movie is about how it gets brought back to the surface.
Change Valentino: I’d make Valentino 100% reckless, leap-first, look-later. He’s a baby goat, the only one Asha’s family was allowed to keep from their herd when they moved out of their cottage, and therefore Asha is very overprotective of him. He’s basically a manic ball of energy who gets into everything—like she used to be, as a little girl before her dad died. Valentino has zero fear and nothing but wonder and fun in his eyes.
Change Star: yeah everyone’s doing this but I think Star should’ve been kept as a person, with the ability to talk. Not because I’m sold on the idea of him being Asha’s love interest—but because I think a character who has lost her faith in magical, benevolent stars needs to have a personal relationship with one that actually cares about her, and proves it. Plus it’s about 1000 times more interesting. So he's one of those young stars I mentioned: supposed to be just a messenger, but once he gets down to Rosas, there's something keeping him from getting back up to the heavens—and he doesn't want to leave anyway, because he's convinced he's supposed to be helping Asha.
A more in-depth post coming soon! Might even have a little art.

I really want Eddie to have his own two-part solo adventure (like Buck's tsunami arc) so bad. I have absolutely no idea what the disaster would be, but I just really want to see Eddie going through it and being a Big Damn Hero all on his own. He's at rock bottom, his kid isn't talking to him, he thinks he's a failure at everything and has no idea where his life is going - he needs something to remind him of who he is and how capable he is.
I want to see him leading some small rag-tag group of civilians through the fallout of disaster. Because that's the thing about Eddie - not only is he capable, he's a natural leader as well. I can totally see him figuring out which people in his group have which skills and guiding them through different maneuvers, like bandaging wounds, building shelter, etc, etc. And if there are kids in the group, you know Eddie would be both comforting and practical, distracting them by giving them small tasks. Maybe he admits what he's going through with Christopher to one of them and that kid confirms that, no, Chris is lucky to have Eddie as a dad, even if he's angry now. And Eddie should keep fighting to bring him home (like he's fighting to bring this group of civilians home).
There's been a lot of unfair criticism of Eddie recently and so I think the show needs to remind, not just Eddie, but also the general audience, of exactly who Eddie is and what skills and experiences he brings to the 118. Plus, lbr, Tim owes Ryan Guzman something juicy after that mess of a Vertigo plot in the back of s7.
Of course, as a bonus, we'd get Buck freaking out while Eddie was lost/presumed dead. But I would really want the focus to be on Eddie learning to trust himself again and thriving under pressure. Back in s3, Buck was lost, afraid that he would never be a firefighter again. The tsunami gave him back his confidence and put him in the right frame of mind to fight for his job. Now, Eddie needs something similar if he's going to fight for Christopher and fight to untangle his own issues. He needs to start the journey from a place of confidence in order to make it to the end, and I think a solo presumed-dead arc could give him that.
(Plus, lbr, BAMF Eddie is never something I'll pass up).

Collision
TW/CW: Car accident, injuries.
Pairing: Evan Buckley x Diaz!Reader
You smiled to yourself as you walked beside Christopher, your nephew. You had watched him in the morning while your brother was working, and Carla was attending an appointment. You didn’t mind though, you absolutely adored him, and he enjoyed spending time with you.
You had an hour to kill before dropping him off to Carla, and heading off to work yourself, so you decided to swing by the station to have lunch with the team. It was quiet when you arrived, indicating the team were on a call. You took it upon yourself to make lunch for everybody, knowing it would be a relief to them when they got back. Chris was sat at the table on his tablet, in a world of his own, allowing you to focus on the food. You couldn’t help but smile to yourself as the sound of the shutters opening filled the station followed by heavy boots thudding against the floor as each firefighter jumped out of the truck. The footsteps got closer, the faint smell of smoke mixed with a familiar aftershave filled your nostrils and you instinctively lean back into the body that is now behind you as arms snake around your waist. “Isn’t this a nice surprise?”
You turn towards the voice, and smile, “Apparently, I can’t seem to stay away.” You lean up to kiss Buck, causing Chris to pull a disgusted face. This seemed to amuse Buck, and he kissed you again. Eddie appeared in the kitchen, and made his way over to his son, visibly happy to see him. “Come on guys, get a room.” You rolled your eyes playfully at your brothers comment, and pulled away from Buck.
You dished up the food for the team and took a seat, eager to hear about the call they had just been on. You listened intently as you ate, your complete focus on Buck as he spoke passionately about the call. Your heart warmed as you watched his face light up, he loved how much you genuinely enjoyed hearing about the calls, and how his day had gone. Chimney was the next to speak up, “It was a good call, except the part where Buck was playing hero and nearly got himself killed.” Bucks eyes widened and he turned to look at Chimney, giving him a look that immediately stopped him talking. Chimney, trying to help, began speaking again, “Don’t worry, it’s nothing out of the ordinary. It wasn’t any more dangerous than a simple call, the risk is always there. Besides, it was probably one of the safer times Buck tried to save the day, you should’ve seen him on the call last week.”
“Chim, stop talking.” Buck, who was now visibly on the spot, turned to face you. He studied your face, working out how to approach this. He opened his mouth to reassure you, but you beat him to it, “I thought we spoke about this…” Buck knew you understood that no day was guaranteed, and that saving people on calls was something he would always try to do, even if it put him at risk. He also knew that he had a habit of jumping the gun and putting himself in dangerous situations without thinking it through. “I’m sorry…”
You checked your watch, and stood up. “I just wish you’d be more careful, Buck.” Chris stood up and hugged Eddie goodbye, and you did the same. “Later bro.” You said goodbye to the team and walked back to the car with Chris by your side. The breeze hit you, and you took a deep breath. Maybe you were overreacting, maybe not but you just needed a moment. You helped Chris into the car and got in yourself, turning on the radio. The short ride to Carlas mostly consisted of Chris laughing as you sang along to the music, and the occasional conversation when Chris wasn’t overly engrossed in his phone. Carla was there to greet you when you pulled up on her drive, Chris was extremely excited and practically jumped out of the car to hug her. Carla gave you a hug, “Y/N, it’s so good to see you!” You smiled and hugged back, “It’s been a while, huh? Life has been hectic.” Carla laughs at this, “You’re telling me, your brother told me all about you and Buck. Moving in together? That’s a big step!”
“We were practically living together anyway, and if I’m being honest, Eddie is probably just relieved to have his couch back. I was starting to get on his nerves.” You explained to Carla, and she chuckled. “Well, I wish you all the best. I’m gonna get Chris inside, and I’ll let you run off to work. It was lovely seeing you.” You hug Chris goodbye and bid farewell to Carla before getting into your car and beginning your journey to your place of work. In front of you, the amber light turned to red and you stopped. You could see that traffic was beginning to build up on the other side of the junction, and you didn’t want to be late. You sighed, and made the decision to take an alternate route, so when the light turned green, you indicated and pulled out to begin taking your turning. You let out a sudden gasp before you could even properly register the car coming towards you. All you could do was attempt to brace for the impact, and so you did.
A loud crunching sound surrounded you, followed by the feeling of being thrown as your car was barrelled into. You closed your eyes tightly, scared of what was next. You didn’t have the courage to open them again until the car steadied. The first thing you could see was the airbag in front of you, despite not feeling it deploy moments before. You could smell the burning of the tyres, outside of the car, you could hear the panicked voices of bystanders, but all you could focus on was the blood that was now spread across your arms, unsure of where it was actually coming from. You weren’t in pain, at least you couldn’t feel any in that moment. Is that what shock feels like? You couldn’t think, but your eyes got heavy and you fought your hardest not to succumb to the darkness.
Back at the station, the call was only just coming in. The alarm blared throughout the station, alerting the team to the call. They were quick to jump into action, grabbing their gear and piling themselves into their assigned trucks. Eddie and Buck sat beside each other, speaking casually between themselves about what had happened earlier. “Just give her some time, she’ll come around. For her, two of the people she loves most are at risk everyday, you’ve gotta imagine it can’t be easy. It’s a risky job as it is, and when you put yourself into riskier situations without needing to, it decreases the chance of making it home at the end. She’s scared. Just talk to her.” Eddie attempted to reassure Buck, who was feeling terrible. He couldn’t shake the image of your face from his mind, the face that showed disappointment in his actions. Before Buck could respond, the truck halted and the team jumped out, ready to give help where needed. Buck stopped in his tracks as an all too familiar car was crushed before him. He tried not to panic, hoping that his suspicions were wrong. His eyes flicked to the number plate and his heart stopped. His feet were moving before his mind could catch up. He shouted your name, drawing Eddies attention. It took Eddie a few seconds to process what was happening. You had not long left the station, it couldn’t possibly be you. Right?
Buck arrived to your car first, nausea washed over him as he caught sight of your injured body. “Y/N? Hey, it’s me. I’m here.” You weren’t completely aware of what was happening, your eyes opened with a struggle. Your movements were weak as you turned your head to look at him. “Buck?” You spoke quietly, not completely aware of the situation at hand. “Don’t move, try and keep still.” He tried to remain as calm as he could, he didn’t want to scare you any more, he was terrified himself. Eddie ran right over to the car, his heart racing as he feared what he would find. His first instinct was to check the back seat, relief finally washing over him as he saw no sign of Christopher. Still, he needed to make sure, “Y/N, was Chris in the car?”
You shook your head, “Carlas.” Eddie felt a weight off his shoulders, knowing his son was safe. The weight soon came back when he saw the condition you were in. Your eyes rolled back, and you fell into unconsciousness. Bobby was running the scene, assigning Hen and Chim to medically assist you, and he grabbed the gear to support Buck and Eddie in freeing you from the car. Buck didn’t want to let go of your hand, but he knew he had to in order to get you out sooner. The team worked tirelessly, ensuring to be as careful as possible. Bobby handed the halligan to Buck, “Buck, you focus on getting the doors open. Diaz, grab the saw and be on standby.”
Buck groaned as he tried to pry the doors open, with no results, “Roofs too dented Cap, I can’t get it open.” Bobby nodded, and turned to Eddie, “Saws it is. Get in there Diaz, Buck, you too.” The roof was off in no time, Hen and Chim jumped straight in and equipped you with a neck brace, and got the back board in place to move you. Hen checked your vitals quickly, trying to make sure you were steady enough to be moved. “I’ve got a faint pulse, we gotta move.” They moved you out of you car quickly, and transferred you to the ambulance. “Trauma to the abdomen, possible internal bleeding. I’ll let the hospital know we’re en route.” Buck jumps into the back of the ambulance with Chimney, and instantly takes your hand in his. Hen places herself into the drivers seat, putting the ambulance into 911 mode and begins the journey as fast as she can to the nearest hospital.
Buck hated seeing you like this. He was filled with anxiety, the nausea constantly there as he studied your visible injuries. His heart sank with every second that went by, the more he thought about you laying there almost lifeless, expecting you to flatline any second now. “I’m sorry baby, we can’t leave things like this. I need you to get through this so I can apologise to you. I know I’m not the easiest person to love, and I also know that I’m the biggest pain in the ass, but I love you, and I need you. Please.” Buck sobbed as he held your hand tighter. Time seemed to be going extremely slow for Buck, yet moments later Hen was pulling up at the hospital. You were rushed in, Hen spewed all your information to the nurses as you were wheeled in and handed over. Buck, Hen and Chimney stood there as you were wheeled out of sight. One of the nurses stopped Buck from running after you, and he sat defeated in the waiting room. The rest of the team arrived soon after, Eddies face was similar to Bucks. Eddie spoke first, “Any update?” The lack of response from Buck had him on edge, fearing the worst. Luckily, Chimney filled the silence. “There’s no update, but no news it almost always good news.”
Eddie placed his hand on Bucks shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze before sitting down next to him. “How’re you holding up?” Buck didn’t look up, instead he kept his head in his hands. He couldn’t respond, he couldn’t trust his voice not to give out. His leg bounced anxiously, and despite not talking, his feelings were painfully obvious. Eddie could empathise, he knew exactly what was going through Bucks mind. It was happening to him too, but he concealed it as much as he could, knowing Buck needed him. “You know, each time we’re sat in these chairs, it never gets easier. You don’t have to talk, I get it. I think you should know that I’m right here for you, I understand. Y/N is going to be okay, that I have no doubt about. She’s my sister, and us Diaz’s, we don’t back down. We fight.” Eddie continues talking, and he’s not sure whether he’s trying to convince Buck or himself.
A few hours go by, and the team are waiting as patiently as they can for an update. Maddie had arrived some time ago, and was sat with Buck. She was not only there to support her brother, but also her brothers girlfriend, who Maddie had claimed as her best friend shortly after meeting her. Bobby hands a coffee to Buck and Eddie, who hadn’t moved from their seats since arriving. This changed moments later as a nurse approached, making them stand. Buck felt as if his legs were going to give way any second. The nurse cleared her throat, “She’s stable. She’s incredibly lucky to have made it out with the injuries she did, it could’ve been a lot worse. She’s awake, if you’d like to go see her.”
Buck didn’t stick around to hear whatever else the nurse had to say, he darted through the corridor until he got to your room. He stopped to take a deep breath, and stepped inside. He was scared to look at you, all he could picture was you covered in blood still. His head shot up as he heard a voice, your voice to be exact, “Buck?”
He was by your bedside in a blink of an eye, taking your hand in his. His eyes wandered over your body, taking in each of your injuries. His heart broke a little more with each one. He finally looked you in the eyes, and that’s when it hit him. His eyes filled up with tears, “Y/N…”
“Hey, don’t cry. I’m fine, see. I’m right here.” You gave his hand a squeeze, trying to give him the reassurance he needed. Buck took a seat close to your bed, your hand in his and against his lips. You move your hand up to his cheek and wipe his tears, Buck practically melted into your touch. “I really thought I had lost you.”
“I’m right here, I’m not going anywhere. I need to apologise for my reaction earlier, that could’ve been our last conversation earlier and left without saying goodbye, or telling you how much I love you.”
Buck shook his head, “You have nothing to apologise for, I’m the one that owes you an apology. I’m sorry that I’m not more careful when I’m out on a call, I shouldn’t be that reckless. I’m sorry that I can’t promise to walk through that door every night, safe and unscathed. I can appreciate how you feel now, and I promise I’ll try my hardest to be more careful. I love you, and I don’t want you ever feeling anything close to what I’ve felt today.” You wince as you sit up, making Buck panic. You push through the pain, and pull Buck to you. “Come here.” He stands from his chair and leans down to kiss you quickly. He carefully moves your hair from your face, ensuring he doesn’t touch any of your cuts or bruises.
“I love you too, and even though I’m petrified that you won’t make it home one day, I trust that you’ll try everything in your power to make sure you do. I’m proud of you, Evan.” As you spoke, Buck smiled to himself. A sense of relief washed over him. Before he could respond, you continued. “So… does this mean I can finally get a new car now?”
Buck chuckled, “You’re a pain in the ass, Diaz.”
“Takes one to know one, Buck.”
A/N: So, I think I rewrote this like 10 times. Its been a while since I've done any writing, so please bare with me while I figure out my writing style again. Any criticism is welcome, I appreciate the feedback.

finding excuses to be alone with each other - Buddie
hi, and thank you! sorry this has taken a while, and also i have no explanation for why i decided to write new year's eve fic in june. BUT: here you are!
a stolen moment
1200 words | buddie | developing relationship | secret relationship | kissing | fluff
-
There are too many people at this party.
Normally, this isn't something Buck would even think to complain about. Maddie and Chim are hosting, since Bobby and Athena are still living out of a tiny one-bedroom while work continues on their house, and Hen and Karen are still trying to get Mara settled back at home—New Year's parties are apparently not conducive to a quiet, predictable bedtime routine, and the Wilson family unit will probably be heading out well before the ball drops anyway—and nobody else has even close to enough room. It's still packed to the brim, overflowing onto the back patio, clusters of people chatting over drinks in the kitchen while the kids have taken over the living room TV for a vicious Mario Kart showdown that Chris is currently winning. Maddie's in the back bedroom putting Jee down for bedtime, and Chim is holding court over the dessert table, and it's all—great, honestly, it's great. It's awesome, having his family here, and happy, and together under the same roof after the year they've all had.
He glances up and meets Eddie's eye from across the dining room. Gets a quick smile in return. Eddie's cheeks are pink, maybe from the warmth, maybe from the two glasses of wine he's had, since Buck will be the one driving them home. He's wearing a green Henley that Buck knows is exactly as soft as it looks and worn-in jeans that mold lovingly to the lines of his thighs as he leans back against the door frame, and it's all pretty distressing, honestly. Buck's hands are itching to touch.
When he meets Eddie's eyes again, Eddie is grinning broadly. Caught, Buck ducks his head. He's blushing, he knows, and he doesn't have the excuse of the wine.
They're keeping it to themselves, at least for now. That was the decision they both made after Eddie kissed him in the loft two nights ago, after Buck kissed him back, after they didn't actually manage to make it all the way up to the bed and ended up on the couch instead, gasping into each other's mouths, fumbling and eager as teenagers. They're keeping it to themselves until Eddie figures out how he's going to tell Chris. He's skittish about that still, and Buck isn't going to push. So he'll probably be sleeping on the fold-out couch tonight instead of in Eddie's bed, and he's not going to kiss Eddie in the middle of the party, no matter how much he wants to.
It's okay. They have time.
"Hey, didn't someone bring dessert plates?" Chim calls from the kitchen. "Please tell me someone brought dessert plates, we're all out of the big ones and I'm really not up for doing dishes tonight."
Ah, shit. Right. That was Buck's job. He's pretty sure he did pick some up, actually, but they're probably still out in the Jeep, which is parked somewhere in the snarl of cars crowding the Han driveway and pulled off to the side of the street in front of their lawn.
"I got 'em," he calls, setting his soda down.
"My hero," Chim retorts, only half-teasing by his tone. Buck rolls his eyes and goes to find his shoes.
He doesn't realize that Eddie is following him until he's already slipped them on in the entry hall, a few steps away from the party. "What's up?"
Eddie shrugs, guileless, and crouches down to retrieve his shoes as well. "Figured I'd help you."
"You figured you'd help me…. bring in a package of paper plates?"
"Yeah," Eddie says innocently, but there's a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, and god, Buck really wants to kiss him.
"Okay," he agrees instead, and pulls open the door. Eddie follows him out into the night, cool and dim even with Christmas lights still lit up all down the street. There's a dampness to the air that feels like rain; it's not that cold, but it's enough of a contrast to the warm house that a shiver goes through him. Eddie falls into step beside him, then reaches for his hand.
Buck shivers again, for reasons that have nothing to do with the cold this time. Eddie's hand is warm and broad, and he strokes his thumb lightly against Buck's, lighting up nerve endings he didn't even know he had.
It's such a small thing. But they've never actually done this yet. It all feels so new, sparkling like fireworks through his veins.
"Okay?" Eddie asks, and Buck realizes that he's stopped walking.
"Yeah," he says. He's not doing a very good job of keeping the smile off his face, or out of his voice, but Eddie's got the exact same dopey smile on his face, so it's fine. They weave through the cars to where Buck's Jeep is parked, close enough to the street that they'll probably be able to get out without playing vehicle Tetris. Far enough from the house that they're shielded from view by Bobby's truck parked alongside them, so he's not all that surprised when Eddie lets go of his hand only to push him gently against the side of the Jeep and kiss him.
He gets lost in that for a little bit. The heat of Eddie's mouth, his hands moving from Buck's shoulders to cradle his jaw—he did that the first time, too. Held Buck like he's holding him now, like he's something precious and worth treating with care, and Buck's already hooked on it. He slides his hand up Eddie's back, feeling the warmth of him, to cup the back of his neck as Eddie licks into his mouth with leisurely sweetness, like he's got all the time in the world to kiss Buck just like this on the sidewalk on New Year's Eve.
Sooner or later, someone's going to come looking for them. It still takes a while for Buck to break the kiss, and when Eddie tugs lightly at his lower lip with his teeth before pulling away, he almost dives back in again. Almost.
"We should probably get back to the party," he says, very reluctantly.
"Yeah," Eddie sighs. He leans in and kisses Buck again, a sweeter, softer thing before leaning past him to open the door. Buck ducks into the back seat to retrieve the package of plates and the bottle of wine they forgot to bring in earlier, and when he straightens up, Eddie is watching him. He looks—hesitant, almost. Nervous. He looks the way he looked two days ago, right before he kissed Buck.
"What's up?" Buck asks.
"I want to tell Chris," Eddie says, all in a rush. "Maybe not—right now, at the party, but when we get home, I want to tell him. About us."
Buck takes a quick, sharp breath. "Are you sure?"
"I've never been as sure about anything in my life as I am about you."
"Eddie."
"It's the truth. And—I want him to know. Even if it's an adjustment, even if it takes some time to—I want him to know. I want everyone to know. If that's okay with you."
"Eddie," Buck says again, and then, "yeah, yeah of course it's okay."
"Good," Eddie says, with a sudden, brilliant smile. And well—Chim can wait a few more minutes for his paper plates. Buck sets them down and pulls Eddie back in.

so fucking insane its so fucking insane that at EVERY fucking turn we are reminded that it’s always eddie for buck. they are completely attached at the hip, a package deal. from the get-go it’s eddie asking buck to talk to chris because he’s buck, and buck does it. buck’s feelings about eddie are so intense that they tangle him up completely and confuse the fuck out of him and he doesn’t shut up about eddie: maddie, chim, tommy hear all about it. he cannot live with lying to eddie its eddie that matters its eddie he needs to be completely authentic with. eddie’s the one who’s silly with him eddie’s the one who wants to be with him eddie wants to dress up eddie will deal with his sister’s wedding venue with him and in the aftermath of a party their years of history show on buck’s face in that split second of fear where he thinks eddie might be dead in the bathtub. buck knows eddie: his smell, his teasing, his pain. its buck that eddie lies to it’s buck eddie leaves his child with it’s buck who’s framed as the partner. it’s buck who IS his partner stealing in through the back door to a house he’s never been a guest in, it’s another door he steps through before cracking eddie right the fuck open, because he’ll never not go to eddie if he thinks eddie needs him, that’s a promise he made years ago in a different kitchen. and when someone’s giving buck a medal and telling him he’s a hero it’s eddie who’s shown, eddie who’s proud, eddie he does it all with, eddie who’s always seeing what buck is, eddie who buck knows to the bone. all of this is intrinsic to buck. we can’t know him without knowing it

"Bombing the lake? Again?" You huffed, crossing your arms. Chan chuckled, "Don't you love it, princess. It's a love bomb," he said gesturing to the paper heart floating on the water's surface. "CB97," you said, clenching your jaw. Chan raised his arms in surrender, "Full government name, princess. I'm hurt," he said, smirking down at you. "The water is polluted now and the poor aqua cleaners have to clean up after you," you ranted, running your fingers through your hair in annoyance. Chan's gaze softened, "Princess the paper is biodegradable. It'll dissolve, scouts honor," he said, raising three fingers in honor. You stifled a laugh, "Still, you can't be a city nuisance, CB. If I don't take you down, someone will," you warned, not wanting him to get hurt. Chan chuckled, getting on his hoverbike, "Dying in the arms that aren't yours, princess? Never," he said, riding off.
"Time to figure out who's under that stupid mask," you said, looking around to check if anyone was there before ripping it off. Chan chuckled, wearing another mask beneath, "Surprise?" he said, loving the annoyance on your face. You rolled your eyes and pulled off the mask. Your breath hitched, "Chris?" You whispered, cupping his face. Chan groaned the wound in his abdomen stung, "The one and only," he said, lips etched with a stupid grin. You furrowed your eyebrows, "I could've killed you," you said, tracing the gash on his cheek. Chan nuzzled your palm, "Death by your hands is the best way to go," he said, staring up at you. "Idiot," you grumbled, kissing his lips. Chan chuckled, taking the lead as he licked your bottom lip. You parted your lips, deepening the kiss under the moonlight.

"You thought I would just accept you being CB97 without repercussions?" You asked, pinning his wrists to the bed. Chan's eyes widened, "Baby, Princess, Angel. Please have mercy on my poor soul," he pleaded, his heart racing with fear and anticipation. You chuckled and unbuckled his belt, "Mercy? What's that?" you purred, tying his wrists with the belt. Chan gulped, "Princess a man can only cum so many times before there's nothing left," he said, flexing his wrist beneath the bounds. You aligned your fluttering cunt with his cockhead, "Let's see what's your max then, yeah?" you said, mimicking his accent. Chan tossed his head back as you sank down his throbbing shaft, "Fuck, hah," he gasped, bucking his hips upwards.
"Mmh, hah. So hot so big," you purred, riding his cock at a controlled pace. Chan clenched his jaw, veins protruding on his neck, "Ride Daddy faster, princess. I know how much you missed me," he groaned, pissed at your teasing strokes. You giggled, grinding your hips when his cockhead kissed against your cervix, "But Daddy, this already feels good," you said, your voice breathy and warm. Chan huffed, easily flipping you on your back, "You know better than to tease me, little girl," he growled, breaking the belt. You wrapped your arms around his neck, "Make me regret it, Chris. To. Pher," you whispered, nipping his ear. Chan chuckled, hooking his arms under your knees, "Just you wait," he gruffed, sinking his cock deep within your aching hot pussy.

Starlight
buck/eddie | rated: G | 4K | complete | ao3
Summary: On a rare, starry summer night, Buck and Eddie discuss what ifs and make decisions about their future.
“Do you,” Buck says very quietly, so quiet Eddie probably wouldn’t even be able to hear it were they not inches away from being pressed together. It’s too hot out to be pressed together. Too sweaty, soggy, smelly, and their skin would chafe and stick together and probably hurt.
Eddie’s not sure he would care though.
“Do you ever think about,” Buck continues, his question also sticky and meandering and not meant to come out in anything but the secluded darkness of midsummer. “About you and me?”
Eddie swallows hard and doesn’t move. He breathes but there’s no air, no movement. He knows the question. He knows what Buck is asking. He doesn’t stop searching for the stars and all the shapes and figures drawn in connecting lines between them.
There are no lines for real. It’s all made up by people who have brilliant creative imaginations. People like Chris and Buck and Shannon. They’re the kind of people who see the lines, the animals, the heroes, the stories, and invent constellations.
Eddie just sees starlight. Raw, unconnected, faraway stars that were lost a long time ago. “What about you and me?”
Buck breathes slowly, soft inhale and exhale that sounds so loud, and why is it the only sound Eddie can hear? The city is hardly quiet even at this time of night. It’s not that late. But it’s still only the wafting air in and out of Buck’s lungs. The only sound that reaches him. “Eddie. You and me. Dating. Being together. Seeing if it works, if it fits. Do you ever think about it?”
Does the ocean think of tides? Does the forest think of collecting rain and sun? Does the fire know what it consumes? Do the stars know they’re dying, they’re phantoms, they’re already dead?
Something was left in a graveyard and it wasn’t a body. It wasn’t a person. Maybe it was a life though. A life together.
How could he ever believe things left in a graveyard could still be alive?
Buck didn’t even know. Buck never knew. They never got that far. Death and lightning have a way of shocking the system. But everything grows quiet afterward and locked back up once danger has passed. Eddie never said anything. Eddie cut out his thoughts, his feelings, and forced himself to move on and forget. Even though nothing could ever compare. Nothing else could ever fit.
Eddie can’t move, can’t look at him, but he wets his lips and asks, “Do you?”

I really think Buck talks about tsunami with Chris here(as Eddie said it was 3years in 6x7 it can be 4 years anniversary and they need to make smt and Chris decides to use real hero from tsunami because kid might see tsunami differently from Buck cause he was small and he was protected enough. Chris might not understand how awful it was. I mean he's only 13)
Tumblr media
it goes good with water related emergency where Bobby in danger. Which I hope lead to Buck's breakdown
And it then goes good with parallel where Eddie again puts his hand on Buck's shoulder as call back to 3x3 to make him remember that Eddie said that day
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Buck feels bad(start of his breakdown era I hope) after the talk with Chris before they are called to cruise emergency and Eddie talks with him again, but it doesn't make Buck feel at ease and then they are working on cruise call and maybe Buck need to safe Eddie and the kid who looks like Chris(maybe both), or maybe even Bobby, and his already bad headspace snaps and he breaks
And it's Eddie's turn to be here with him. To "sit" with Buck in his worst

i just thought of something because now that eddie has lost chris and he's truly alone and isolated what if we get a character switch of reckless eddie and buck trying to be the one to steer him away. gerrard would support reckless eddie in fact he'd probably say he's a fine and brave firefighter and how people can learn from him taking all these risks in dangerous calls completely unaware how mentally unwell he is and we get buck telling eddie "he's not expendable not to him." I also think that a reckless/near suicidal eddie(on calls not self harm) would be a kind of trigger for buck about how he feels about eddie and also this kind of buck hovering consistently over eddie and being with him at all times like buck in S5 x10 would put severe strain on buck/tommy cause listen we all know that's not meant to last but beside the point yeah I think a plot where Buck says the same thing Eddie told him in the S4 finale would be really neat.
I LOVE THIS. I am unHINGED for character role reversals when they're done well and you're sooooooo right this storyline is actually RIPE for it. I can totally see Eddie kind of feeling like, well if I don't have my son to live for what do I really have.
And Buck being like. well. yourself for one. but if that's too hard right now, then ME. and like actually showing/articulating to Eddie how fucked up it would be to lose him. because they've only ever talked AROUND it before, using Chris as a stand-in ("i think it would've been better for him if I was the one who got shot...")
so yes I am VERY here for Risk-Seeking Behavior Eddie. Especially if he's hiding how fucked up he is under the familiar guise of like. He's Being a Hero. (also fuck this is making me think about Steve Rogers/Eddie Diaz parallels I CANNOT...) And Buck being the only one to fully grasp what's going on because HE HAS BEEN THERE. THAT WAS HIM for years and years until Eddie sat him down and told him in no uncertain terms that he and Chris need him.
The role reversal would be DELICIOUS.
